Better free apps out there
by babubdjosna272762 on 2021/01/10 23:36
I wanted to love this app because the simplicity of it is nice, but it’s an immediate turn off for me when you have to pay monthly just to use the app. No free version, no nothing. There are free apps out there that do the same thing this app does. I’d recommend those instead.
Cheaper alternatives that don’t require a “subscription”
by SergeantDickInMyButt on 2020/12/17 13:50
Don’t buy this. $40 a YEAR for a timer? It’s a blatant cash grab when you can literally buy other applications for one tenth of that that are good for life. Don’t be fooled into spending so much on a platform that charges you yearly to use it when it’s functionality is neither new nor innovative. Save your money and look elsewhere.

Waste of money
by ryangustafson1329 on 2020/11/09 17:50
They make it so hard to use the app without a subscription. I got the subscription and it was not worth it at all.
Looks great
by maclover1812 on 2020/10/28 16:28
I was going to try out this app it looks great! But unfortunately the days are gone when I can simply buy the app now every Apple and every dev wants us to pay monthly for the simplest of apps it’s ridiculous. So I figure I can wait until they change from monthly payments or wait until Apple release a copy-cat and the next IOS update. Until than I’ll be using Be focused, you can actually buy their app it’s not pay as you go) or just the timer on my iPhone or watch.
Misleading BAIT AND SWITCH.
by musicgirl743 on 2020/10/14 16:06
Due to the unprofessional response form the developer I’m updating my review to its simplest form. The app is advertised as free, yet it requires a subscription upon opening it following the download. They list a monthly price buried in the app description that has to be expanded. Monthly services typically offer new and changing content. This app is not worth a monthly cost in my opinion. I would certainly pay a one-time fee for it as I did for things like the robust GoodNotes app.
This should not be rated so highly.
by Warrior for the Lord on 2020/10/11 01:58
How on earth can anyone justify the rating that this app has. You cannot use it at all without paying for a subscription. There are so many apps that are free that have this take a break feature. I’m almost certain that Apple will develop their own if they haven’t already. Why would I pay for a timer? And not even a timer that can be reset without paying. This app is a waste of time and a scam. The app should be free with certain functions available for purchase through subscription. However, in order to access the basic function which is set the timer - you have to pay! No. Outrageous.

Great app!
by Gabbiemk on 2020/09/30 08:44
I am a too lazy of a person to write any review, but I like this app and wanted to share some information and suggestion about the app. As a law student, I have been feeling anxious, uncertain if I am putting in enough hours for my school work, and this app does a great job letting me track how long I did the work each day. I like that I can adjust a number of minutes for each session In because most of apps only provide pomodoro style 25 minutes as an option. Also, I love that I could have the app fill the whole screen so I could start it again. Before using this function, I always missed hitting the start button again that I ended up deleting similar types of apps because of imprecise hours tracked. If I may make some suggestions- it would be nice if I could label how many hours I spent on each task. Just a chunk of hours logged only gives me an idea that I did something, but looking back, j don't know on which task I spent my time. Also, a stick or pie graph that shows how many hours I focused on each different task would make this app the greatest. I have been looking for one but there's none that has those functions. Thank you for this app and please keep up the great work!

Basic timer does not work
by Schoonology on 2020/09/02 05:04
I downloaded Focus as a Pomodoro timer. On my third session, the Watch app correctly counted down, while the Complication still thought it was in a break. This app cannot do the one thing it needs to. 😔
I give up on it
by HoneyBeePop on 2020/08/18 04:31
A literal timer works better, this one doesn’t save the total amount of time for a day
No watch support for series 1 or 2
by Merve koc on 2020/08/12 05:45
I love this app andy days are more productive and I’ve been using it over two years I used to have this app on my apple watch and i needed to reset it and erase everything and now i realized I can’t have the focus app on it and my guess is it only works for recent new apple watches and watchos The update for older watch series isn’t released yet and we can’t use the app on iwatch despite the description saying its for watch and ipad too (without saying that older watches can’t) wanna keep using it and without having it on my watch i think it won’t be as effective as before Please consider fixing this issue
Why would anyone get the subscription?
by Adam Slechta on 2020/08/10 02:25
Another useless subscription option. Honestly, the baseline version of the app works pretty well and is useful for what it is. However the idea to unlock these minuscule features with a monthly paid subscription is ludicrous. I’d gladly pay a one-and-done 99¢ fee for a “pro” version, but you’re nuts if you think making a paid subscription is worth $40-$60.
Great, but sync issues
by MikesterAZ on 2020/07/23 15:31
It’s a little glitchy syncing between all my devices. This isn’t super important in practice as I tend to be on a specific device while on a specific task but I do need my watch to be in sync with whatever device I’m on at the very least. There is definitely a lag sometimes which is hyper noticeable since this timekeeping methodology is all about intervals.
I don't like it
by montazzzzzzzzzzeeeerrrrtt on 2020/07/05 20:27

Misleading. Says its free, but just for 3 or 7 days.
by YikesYikes on 2020/07/05 17:49
I don’t mind paying for an app that I use, but this doesn’t give you much time to test it. Even worse, you don’t know about the short trial period until after you download. Don’t know if its any good. Immediately deleted to use a different focus app.
Avoid
by punkbuddha on 2020/06/18 07:23
This app stalled out sometime in early- to mid-2019. Since then, unaddressed, basic bugs, with the support response being “will be fixed in the next update.” No fixes for nine months now. I paid for years, but it’s no longer worth a premium subscription price.

Nope-
by Pgmolina on 2020/05/09 00:30
Way too expensive. There are plenty of other pomodoro apps with better functionality than this and none require a subscription. Can’t wait to see the snappy developer response. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A SUBSCRIPTION, PERIOD!
This app is poor. Cannot end subscription. Do not download!
by CR477360983 on 2020/05/06 16:29
I wanted to like this app but there are 2 fatal problems with it: First, it doesn’t even work. Notifications never come up, no sounds occur, so you keep working and working past the allotted times period. I disabled do not disturb and used the app on my watch. No notifications ever occurred. Totally defeats the purpose of timeboxing. Second, there is no way to END the subscription. The only way to even use the app is to sign up for a subscription, which has a free trial for the first few days. After using this app for 30 minutes it was totally clear I didn’t want it, so I went to “manage subscription” to end my subscription and conveniently for them....there’s an error! So now I’m going to have to track them down to end my subscription and they surely will drag the process out past the free trial period to get their money. I regret downloading this app. Please learn from my mistake and just use the timer that is already built in to iOS.
Does not alert on watch or phone
by 4D_Man on 2020/05/04 23:11
After a session or break is complete, the chime doesn’t sound and the haptic doesn’t activate. The clock just keeps ticking and never stops. Not impressed. Based on reviews, I signed up for the year membership before really trying it out. I’ll be requesting a refund. Not worth it.
Pain Relief
by Alan-in-Seattle on 2020/05/01 01:02
With our current work-from-home orders, I was finding that using my laptop for longer periods was giving me a pain in the neck. Focus has provided relief. The frequent breaks give me a chance to stand up, do some neck exercises, and generally be more focused and productive in the process. Give it a try – I think you’ll like it.

It lost its charm
by ccantug on 2020/02/03 22:48
I’ve searched and searched for the best time tracking app and I though I had found it. I even bought the one year subscription. But after the update the app complete bombs. 1- the Apple Watch app doesn’t work anymore it doesn’t pair with the phone app. 2- all other time tracking apps have the option to keep the display on, this one doesn’t work. You have to toggle it on and off for it to work every time you change apps. I tried to get a refund but of course it was denied. So instead I leave this review as a warning to anyone that is considering purchasing the subscription.
Bait and switch!
by Starkman78 on 2019/12/27 16:00
I can’t even attest to how well this app works. I chose it because it’s listed as a free app only to download it and find out that only the 7-day trial is free and a subscription is required. An app with a free version and paid options is one thing. But an app with only a free trial is not. A. Free. App. If you want/need money, that’s fine. List the price of the subscription right there in the App Store. This has no business being listed as free. Doing so is deceptive and trashy.
Why so expensive?
by TrevMr12 on 2019/12/01 04:26

by Dnheller on 2019/11/26 15:59
App does exactly what is says it will do, nice synch with watch app. But please change the logo on the watch app to something other than an old fashioned desk lamp. Seems anachronistic and incongruous on a device having such contemporary industrial design

by Glensloin on 2019/11/03 18:38
I have been using Focus for nearly a year now and the fact I am still using it speaks volumes. It really does help me focus and to plan and track my writing projects. The only issue that informs my 4-star ranking is that it occasionally drops projects without explanation and I have to re-enter them. Thus means I lose all of the tracking data. Not sure what cause is.
Not free. Pay to use.
by Whitejleaf24 on 2019/10/29 19:13

Warning: Watch app requires WatchOS 6
by serene and impatient on 2019/10/13 16:18
…which is NOT available on Series 1 or 2 watches. Apple has said these watches released before September 2017 will get OS 6 eventually, but makes no promises when. Meanwhile, NO WATCH APP. My watch app disappeared without warning on a routine Focus app update. Their “support” answer? “update to watchOS 6” — which is not possible. So I (and everyone who has a watch more than 2 years old—still well within a reasonable lifespan) am paying for an app that without warning eliminated the watch app. For the premium prices we’re paying for what’s a basic pomodoro app, I’d expect better support and smarter releases.
Great accountability tool
by JJOForChrist on 2019/10/13 03:03

Features not working
by BeBeHere& on 2019/09/23 21:44
The app doesn’t make a sound when the timer is finished. Also can’t get to buttons to customize length according to project. The buttons are below the Start Working bar and not accessible. Focus was also showing up as a Complication to select for my iWatch, but that feature has now disappeared. The reason I subscribed was the convenience of tracking my on and off time on my watch. At this point, I’d be better off just using Alexa as a timer.
Disappeared
by elzora on 2019/09/23 13:43
App disappeared from my Apple Watch after using it heavily a few days ago. It cannot be reinstalled via the Watch settings. Confused, I opened Focus app on iPhone and it is now asking for a subscription payment? When did this happen??? Happy to pay flat rate for app but not a monthly fee!
No Watch support for series 1 & 2
by Paula Maria on 2019/09/23 13:06
Saw that this was watch compatible, and downloaded it for that reason. Perhaps that support only started with watchOS 6, but I find that doubtful since it was only made available (to séries 3 and above) a few days ago. As watchOS 6 is not yet available for Series 1 & 2 watches, I’m unable to download and use it with my watch. Disappointing. While it’s important for developers to keep up to date with OS updates, and I would otherwise appreciate the timeliness, there’s no reason to drop support for a previous version of an OS when it’s not yet available for all devices that will support it. Glad I have not yet paid for this app. I don’t mind the subscription fee, as I understand the work involved in app maintenance and development, but I would have been livid if I’d been a paying subscriber and support for my watch was dropped before the watchOS update became available for me. Not exactly a fair way to handle things IMO.

Trying to get money for nothing
by Carter and Alex on 2019/08/23 04:11
I downloaded this app for some help with activity tracking and time management. You can basically do nothing with the free version and have to sign up for the yearly subscription of $40 (for a Pom timer) with a free trial of only 7 days. First of all, that’s just wrong. That’s just hoping people will forget to cancel. Secondly, even if you cancel on the same day it doesn’t take effect for sometime. My app somehow is charging me for the full year even though I cancelled the very same day! How do I know? I looked to make sure on SATURDAG THAT I DIDNT I HAVE ANY ACTIVE SUBSCRIPTIONS AND I DID NOT. Suddenly it shows up today as not being cancelled and is charging me for the $40. Not really sure who is at fault here, Apple or the app. I don’t think I am because I checked literally twice last week. I’ve never given a bad review for an app even if I chose not to use it. But this just takes the cake.
Won't alert reliably, sound thoroughly misdesigned
by geoelectric on 2019/07/07 22:13
Seems like the devs missed the interface norms that apps ignore the silence switch if headphones are selected, and that alarms ignore the silence switch entirely. This app won’t play the end of session alarm audibly with the silence switch on whether using headphones or not. For more fun, the end of session alarm uses your ringer volume, so that has to be up high while you leave the ringer turned on. Upshot: useless at work unless you want your phone ringing loud and clear from your desk whenever you disconnect your headphones and forget to toggle the switch back. Edit: Thanks for the snarky “calm down” response. I’m not suggesting your app should do anything other timer apps don’t already do. The limitation isn’t with system notifications, it’s with how you’re configuring your audio sessions. Read both the Apple guidelines on sound behavior for alarm apps (silence switch shouldn’t affect) and the API re audio sessions and session behavior in relation to the silence switch and audio (this is all controllable). For $2 I’d “calm down.” For what this app charges? It had better be right and significantly better than the field, with constant and frequent updates until it gets there. At $40-60 a year you’re in OmniGroup pricing territory. Raise your bar.
Shameful
by Trekrider08 on 2019/06/29 22:54
Downloaded primarily for the Apple Watch. After downloading I discovered it is a pay as you go. Refuse to pay monthly or yearly! It's a timer for Pete sake..... That's a great response; to answer, when you pay $500 for a product you expect said product to be useful and not keep incurring charges. Your business models earns millions; not specifically your brand, but the market is earns heavy. I assume based off your response your not a great company who doesn’t care of your people. "Since the whole timer and therefore the Apple Watch app is completely free to use, we have no idea what your problem is. Is it that you don’t want to pay money for other people’s work? Or is it that you don’t want the app to be constantly maintained and developed through a sustainable business model? Speaking of shameful..."

I really like the app, it’s amazing but the price is very high in comparison to other apps. There many apps like this one on the App Store most of them are free and many of them are up to 3.99$ full purchase. Focus app has a stupid price, who would pay about 40-60$ yearly or 5$ monthly!

Apple Watch Issues
by Casinojack1179 on 2019/06/10 15:12
Apple Watch support in a Pomodoro app is a real plus. Unfortunately, the iOS and watch apps don’t sync well. Timers started on the watch often don’t sync with the phone app and vice versa. Worse, the watch timer will unexpectedly stop before the end. To be fair, I’ve not found another watch app that isn’t plagued by this problem, but developers should get it right before releasing.
4.5 stars - minor improvements would make it perfect.
by Mike Hallman on 2019/05/29 03:18
I gave this 5 stars but there are just a few minor improvements I would love to see that would make it a true 5/5 for me: -Ability to create custom lists. Not all tasks that I add to Focus are the same. The bulk of it is my daily productivity usage - the tasks I work on as part of my job, which I take straight from my OmniFocus planner. But I also like to use Focus for my morning routine. I’m ADHD and getting out of the house on time is more challenging than it is for most people. Focus is a great help for me in the morning, by setting timers for the basic things - shower, breakfast, planning my day, etc. - it forces me to keep on schedule. Most people take this for granted, but with ADHD, the mornings can be the hardest because the meds haven’t kicked in yet, so having a dedicated “morning routine” list, as an example, would be great. -The ability to set default session and break times unique to the above custom lists. My morning routine session timer may be 15-20 minutes. My workday timer might be 45. Would be great to be able to set different defaults for each. -Repeatable tasks. Quite a few of the tasks on my list are things I do every day. It would be nice to set them to repeat. These three features would be amazing, but their lack does not take away from the fact that this app is awesome. It does just what the name says, keeps me focused, and as importantly, makes it much more likely that I will take breaks, which I frequently neglect to do. It makes me more productive in the end, less stressed, and more balanced. Wonderful app.
It shows Japanese for Korean language setting
by OrangeFloyd1524 on 2019/05/08 02:50
It is a great app! Thank you for making it. However, it shows japanese for korean language setting. Please add the language support for korean, or at least modify it to show english for korean user. Most Korean cannot understand japanese, and english is relatively familiar.
Doesn’t work with Do Not Disturb
by Kristinm2 on 2019/02/17 00:33
I’ve been looking for a Pomodoro timer to use on my Apple Watch Series 4 and I thought this app would be perfect. But then I realized the timer alarms/notifications would not sound if the Do-Not-Disturb function was used. I use Do Not Disturb to help me focus, so I am not willing to turn it off. Not being able to use it seems to negate the purpose of the app.
Big price for a little app
by Quark Gluon Plasma on 2019/01/21 17:37
I bought this app before it moved to a subscription model. It is ok as a pomodoro timer, but many such apps are available. Sync was prone to delays and failures. The task management features, which amount to a daily todo list, are not useful to me, because they neither augment nor replace the features of a good todo list app. It’s a $10 app on a good day, and a $40 annual subscription is frankly beyond belief.

It would be awesome if it didn’t crash 20 times a day
by jvrjulio on 2018/12/04 14:35
I use this app to study in med school as i don’t really know how to take breaks and at first it really helped me a lot. Now it has gotten more and more annoying that every time (E-V-E-R-Y T-I-M-E!) i get a notification on my ipad that my session has ended and I go into the app it crashes and i have to reopen it. Also i downloaded it on my iphone and computer so when i take breaks i can stand and use my phone to know when the break has ended, but to say that the syncing of time between devices is glitchy would be an understatement. And i bought a whole year subscription so now im stuck with all of this😡. Edit: changing rating to 1 star because of the passive aggressiveness of the person responding to the reviews. And its not my end as i got friends with the same app and same problem so it seems like a software problem.
Works like a charm
by HappyinMaine on 2018/11/24 23:47
I am getting so much more done than before I started using this app. For me, it helps with my procrastination. You can do just about anything for 25 minutes, right??? And after you get started, you just want to keep going until the job gets done!! Yippee..this is working for me!

Alarm doesn’t work but nice design.
by Deerizz on 2018/11/09 20:56
I really like how simple and clean this app is. However, the timer never used the alarm sound. I had sound turned on, my volume up, etc. I closed out of the app, restarted my phone, turned my phone on silent and back and nothing worked. I even tried using the ticking hoping that would allow the timer to alert - never did.I consistently worked past 25 mins and way over each 5 min break. I wish the sound alert worked and this would get more stars from me.
Watch app looks great, but is unreliable
by GB13😎 on 2018/11/07 22:44
My primary use case for this app is on my Watch. I rely on it to tap when it’s time to take a break, or when my break is done. However, it fails to consistently do this – sometimes I get the tap as expected, other times I’m working away and realizing that it’s been much more than 25 minutes, why didn’t it tell me? When I look, sometimes the complication is waiting for me to respond, other times it’s counting time *up* instead of down! Also, “Sessions Until Long Break” has been consistently off by one. I have it set to 4, but it actually takes 5 sessions before I get a long break. (Does it start counting from zero internally? I’ve just tried setting it to 3 to see what happens.) The Watch complications look fantastic, and I *really* want to love this app. But I can’t depend on it to consistently tell me when time is up, or correctly identify when my long break starts.

No Complications
by Mjcritchfield on 2018/10/11 16:47
Not sure why, but the app description talks about the complications you can use with this app for your Apple Watch... but they aren’t showing up for me. Am i doing something wrong? Is something missing? Need to know more. Thanks!
Good, can be better
by Human mammal on 2018/10/07 17:10
Overall nice simple design and set of features, and haven’t seen any bugs. With some changes and additions I think it can be the go-to app for Pomodoro. Having Watch support is a huge bonus as it’s very useful to have access to that when I’m doing one thing or another. I’m using it on a Watch 4 and iPhone Watch The Watch app doesn’t work unless it’s connected to the phone, please add an untethered mode that syncs when the phone is in range again. The end session notification is much too subtle. It’s so easy to miss that I can’t use it, for example when playing the piano you don’t notice the sounds or tapping. Developer; use the timer app as a good example, that is impossible to miss. iPhone Main screen swiping is a little confusing, but that’s a small nit. Overall looks clean and nice. First, please add HealthKit integration. It’s known that focused concentration is a great way to stave off cognitive decline as we age, and important at any age. HealthKit is the best way to track this data, just use “Focus” as the entry tag. The main complaint is the Pro subscription model. That’s the business model the developer decided on as their right, but I think it’s a mistake. This is a really simple bit of functionality, paying a continuous subscription doesn’t make any sense to me. One reason is that people who Pomodoro typically have a set routine with it. Most creatives seem to max out at 4-6 sessions/day, and do it every day. It would be nice to track this but hardly necessary, because it’s habitual. My point is that I believe a single paid in-app purchase (up to say $10) makes much more sense than a subscription - personally I’ll probably not use it and delete until/if such pricing becoming available, because there are other free apps that have the same functionality (but this one is overall cleaner and I’d prefer using it). So developer, my suggestion is to add the few Watch improvements above, and to reconsider the business model.
Useful but why a subscription?
by Eddie E. R. on 2018/09/29 20:23
I understand the need for continued support but other similar or even more useful apps work without structure. I don’t mind paying a one time price for an app. I would pay 10-12 dollars for this at a one time purchase price. Maybe add a subscription for an optional monthly donation on top of that. Other apps exist that more or less do the same job, with stats and all, for a sub 3 dollar one time charge. I’m giving this one a try with those but I feel like I’m starting off on the wrong foot already with Focus.

Dark mode IAPs: an accessibility perspective
by Anahata108 on 2018/09/18 00:43
For photosensitive users, dark modes aren't just an aesthetics choice. For these users, especially those looking at their devices all day, dark modes aren't just about being pretty. Dark modes are fundamentally required to make the app useable at all. Dark modes are an *accessibility* feature. They make the app useable in the same way that AssistiveTouch or VoiceOver do. Would you charge more for accessibility features? No. That would be terrible. Dark mode is an accessibility feature in exactly the same way other features are. Night Shift, True Tone, and the lesser known Reduce White Point aren't enough for some users: dark modes are the only way for them to use apps they can look at for hours at a time. Furthermore, some users have "floaters" in their vision caused by fluids shifting in their eyes. They cannot comfortably use black on white UIs as a result. Dark modes are the main way users with these floaters can interact with their devices. All that said: I realise that app developers need to make money. That's fine, really! I work as a developer myself. I understand. But charging for an accessibility feature is the wrong way to do it. I'd be happier making a *donation*, and getting nothing, than I am having to pay to configure the app to be useable in a way that doesn't cause me eyestrain and discomfort. Dark mode is an accessibility feature. I shouldn't have to pay to make the app accessible.
Not what I thought I paid for
by WannaBeFree on 2018/09/08 20:11
I paid for tasks. That was an upgrade. The tasks are not integrated to the pomodoros and the tasks are NOT worth the upgrade. Please avoid my mistake. I’ll keep looking for an app that I can specify the pomodoros beyond work and rest. The tasks were poorly designed... not integrated into pomodoros. Will seek a return.
Use This App Every Day
by kmj3535 on 2018/09/08 15:32
I tried a number of Pomodoro timer apps across my phone and Apple Watch. They were all pretty good on the phone. Some had a little more functionality than others including premium services. The big issue was with the watch part of the app. I wanted the watch and phone apps to sync and I wanted to have the watch as the main controller while working. I work from home and often don’t know where my phone is during the day but the watch is always strapped on. With Focus the session modifications are managed on the phone. Once they’re set up the sessions can be controlled solely on the watch. I had questions about a couple things and emailed the developer. He was very responsive and helpful. So far I haven’t purchased the premium product but plan on buying it soon.
Good easy to use app
by joe hem on 2018/09/05 16:16
It does the focus sessions and breaks really well. I tried a different pomodoro style app first and it drained my battery. This one doesn’t. Haven’t used the pro features, but they seem interesting. Don’t like having a monthly/yearly fee for it so I probably won’t end up using it. Even though the info could be interesting.

Buggy but has potential
by milet22 on 2018/08/25 21:54
I really want this app to work and be amazing. It is simple, clean, and does exactly what I’m looking for. However there are multiple problems that occur intermittently over the months I’ve been using it that made me stop. This is based on using the watch app solely: 1) The watch watch app forgets the current timer during a session and resets to 0; 2) the app crashes when starting a break after a session; 3) the watch app loses sync with the phone app (times out perhaps?). I really hope this app can be made more stable because I prefer it above the other pomodoro timers for the watch.

Great productivity app
by Gprasant on 2018/08/08 19:49
I love this app - it helps me prioritize things to get done. Being reminded that time is finite is good to produce. One feedback I have for the developers - On the session screen - instead of the dots that indicate which session you are on , a numeric representation would be better. Eg. 1/6 , 3/6 etc.
Sounds
by Dobiewan on 2018/06/18 01:23
If it weren’t for the fact that the timer never goes off after my break or focus session, I would give this 5 stars. I am continuously preoccupied with whether or not I’m done with the timer because I’m not receiving alerts.
Updated review (now very positive)
by GoldfishBowl on 2018/06/03 14:46
I’m updating my review because the developer has worked tirelessly to 1) fix the bugs 2) enhance the app and 3) improve Apple Watch interactivity. This is now my favorite pomodoro app by far and well worth the price. Nice work! Thank you.

Beautiful and simple design that’s easy to use. I’ve been using it to enhance my productivity and, obviously, focus, to great effect. Be aware: Every time you try to use the Send diagnostics data option, the app crashes.

Mostly solid but Watch app could do with some love
by Very Hungry Guy on 2018/03/08 19:32
I use this pretty much every day to help focus through the less exciting parts of work. There are two things that would help make this a five-star app: 1. The ability to easily set different focus lengths. Some times you need 25 minutes focus to get started, but once you are up and rolling it would be nice to easily move this up to, say, 45 minutes. 2. A Watch app that actually works. There are way too many times where the app just sits there and finally closes. And this is on a newer version Apple Watch.

The best pomodoro app
by IIIIC on 2018/01/30 07:50
I've tried a bunch of pomodoro apps and they all fall short of my expectations, particularly around syncing between devices and the quality of the watch app. This is the first that I'm happy with. The developers are continuing to improve the app and are very responsive to feedback. Recommended.

Subscription for this?
by Diegoborgh on 2017/12/25 18:25
I get it, subscription is a good way for developers to get paid reasonable. But for a timing app to need subscription to be usable is stretching it a bit. Not only that, you’re targeting yourself to anyone to create a simple app that does everything you do without subscription and your business model is gone. If you want to get into subscription model be creative and make a product that warrants that, a timer app will never do that.
No notifications!
by iYabbaDabbaDoo on 2017/12/11 07:58
Everything is fine, but when you are not in the app (locked your phone, etc.) and the sessions finish, it doesn’t show you any notifications or play any sounds and when you open the app, it tells you the session is finished and starts the next session. If they fix this notifications thing, it will be awesome!
Great App, Just Needs Reminders Integration
by Tronoku on 2017/12/11 02:15
If there was a way to integrate reminders, I would be a life long customer and push this to everyone I know. As it is, I have to manually move tasks over to this app from apple reminders app and then check the task off of each app separately. Some syncing would be nice, take a look at fantastical ;)

I’m an avid writer and keeping track of my writing sessions has always been somewhat of a challenge. That was until I discovered the pomodoro technique. Intuitively, I began looking for an app to assist me in tracking my sessions. Luckily, I found Focus. I have to admit that at first I was very skeptical. Actually, I gave up on Focus at one point. But I simply couldn’t find anything better. Then, they released an update around the release date of the iPhone X and it was everything I was looking for in a pomodoro tracker with the analysis, insight and stability lacking not only in the previous version but also from every other version of every other pomodoro tracker app. If you are a productivity app junkie like me, look no further. This app is easily in my top 3.
Ticking Sound Option STILL Doesn’t Work
by SciArts on 2017/11/15 01:02

Great app!
by Gabbiemk on 2020/09/30 08:44
I am a too lazy of a person to write any review, but I like this app and wanted to share some information and suggestion about the app.

No. Outrageous.

Great with a Glitch
by Glensloin on 2019/11/03 18:38
I have been using Focus for nearly a year now and the fact I am still using it speaks volumes. It really does help me focus and to plan and track my writing projects. The only issue that informs my 4-star ranking is that it occasionally drops projects without explanation and I have to re-enter them. Thus means I lose all of the tracking data. Not sure what cause is.
Pain Relief
by Alan-in-Seattle on 2020/05/01 01:02
With our current work-from-home orders, I was finding that using my laptop for longer periods was giving me a pain in the neck. Focus has provided relief. The frequent breaks give me a chance to stand up, do some neck exercises, and generally be more focused and productive in the process. Give it a try – I think you’ll like it.
Getting me through high school
by Pandapower🐼🐼🐼 on 2018/03/23 03:53
I use this app all the time when I do homework. Its so simple but it really helps, especially on projects where there many natural break points. It really helps me stay on task without getting overworked and frustrated. Would completely recommend
Great design, just fix some crashes
by Mike3292 on 2018/04/08 21:58
Beautiful and simple design that’s easy to use. I’ve been using it to enhance my productivity and, obviously, focus, to great effect. Be aware: Every time you try to use the Send diagnostics data option, the app crashes.
Sounds
by Dobiewan on 2018/06/18 01:23
If it weren’t for the fact that the timer never goes off after my break or focus session, I would give this 5 stars. I am continuously preoccupied with whether or not I’m done with the timer because I’m not receiving alerts.
Perfect but one request...
by Dnheller on 2019/11/26 15:59
App does exactly what is says it will do, nice synch with watch app. But please change the logo on the watch app to something other than an old fashioned desk lamp. Seems anachronistic and incongruous on a device having such contemporary industrial design
Nice work! Thank you.
About starting week

by super users on 2019/01/21 10:10

Great accountability tool
by JJOForChrist on 2019/10/13 03:03

Big price for a little app
by Quark Gluon Plasma on 2019/01/21 17:37
I bought this app before it moved to a subscription model. It is ok as a pomodoro timer, but many such apps are available. Sync was prone to delays and failures. The task management features, which amount to a daily todo list, are not useful to me, because they neither augment nor replace the features of a good todo list app. It’s a $10 app on a good day, and a $40 annual subscription is frankly beyond belief.
Awesome App for Productive Person
by Saad Hagras on 2019/01/11 02:11

Not what I thought I paid for
by WannaBeFree on 2018/09/08 20:11
I paid for tasks. That was an upgrade. The tasks are not integrated to the pomodoros and the tasks are NOT worth the upgrade. Please avoid my mistake. I’ll keep looking for an app that I can specify the pomodoros beyond work and rest. The tasks were poorly designed... not integrated into pomodoros. Will seek a return.

I wanted to love this app because the simplicity of it is nice, but it’s an immediate turn off for me when you have to pay monthly just to use the app. No free version, no nothing. There are free apps out there that do the same thing this app does. I’d recommend those instead.

I love this app andy days are more productive and I’ve been using it over two years I used to have this app on my apple watch and i needed to reset it and erase everything and now i realized I can’t have the focus app on it and my guess is it only works for recent new apple watches and watchos The update for older watch series isn’t released yet and we can’t use the app on iwatch despite the description saying its for watch and ipad too (without saying that older watches can’t) wanna keep using it and without having it on my watch i think it won’t be as effective as before Please consider fixing this issue

Not worth it.

by ccantug on 2020/02/03 22:48
I’ve searched and searched for the best time tracking app and I though I had found it.

Not sure what cause is.

Have been using this app this year and it’s been a great accountability tool. I’m still understanding how to better utilize it but it’s been great to stay focused and get work completed.

Wonderful app.

by OrangeFloyd1524 on 2019/05/08 02:50
It is a great app!

And its not my end as i got friends with the same app and same problem so it seems like a software problem.

by HappyinMaine on 2018/11/24 23:47
I am getting so much more done than before I started using this app.

But I can’t depend on it to consistently tell me when time is up, or correctly identify when my long break starts.

by Human mammal on 2018/10/07 17:10
Overall nice simple design and set of features, and haven’t seen any bugs.

Eg. 1/6 , 3/6 etc.

by Dobiewan on 2018/06/18 01:23
If it weren’t for the fact that the timer never goes off after my break or focus session, I would give this 5 stars. I am continuously preoccupied with whether or not I’m done with the timer because I’m not receiving alerts.

If they fix this notifications thing, it will be awesome!

by Tronoku on 2017/12/11 02:15

Great app!
by Gabbiemk on 2020/09/30 08:44
I am a too lazy of a person to write any review, but I like this app and wanted to share some information and suggestion about the app.

A must for any creative person
by collective method on 2017/12/10 04:15
I’m an avid writer and keeping track of my writing sessions has always been somewhat of a challenge.
Shameful
by Trekrider08 on 2019/06/29 22:54
Downloaded primarily for the Apple Watch.
No. Outrageous.
Looks great
by maclover1812 on 2020/10/28 16:28
I was going to try out this app it looks great!
Pain Relief
by Alan-in-Seattle on 2020/05/01 01:02
With our current work-from-home orders, I was finding that using my laptop for longer periods was giving me a pain in the neck. Focus has provided relief. The frequent breaks give me a chance to stand up, do some neck exercises, and generally be more focused and productive in the process. Give it a try – I think you’ll like it.
Sounds
by Dobiewan on 2018/06/18 01:23
If it weren’t for the fact that the timer never goes off after my break or focus session, I would give this 5 stars.
Nice work! Thank you.
About starting week

by super users on 2019/01/21 10:10

Great accountability tool
by JJOForChrist on 2019/10/13 03:03

App is great, fix the website

Big price for a little app
by Quark Gluon Plasma on 2019/01/21 17:37
I bought this app before it moved to a subscription model. It is ok as a pomodoro timer, but many such apps are available. Sync was prone to delays and failures. The task management features, which amount to a daily todo list, are not useful to me, because they neither augment nor replace the features of a good todo list app. It’s a $10 app on a good day, and a $40 annual subscription is frankly beyond belief.
