Doesn’t Work...
by Lexy Bakker on 2021/04/09 14:35
Although the setup is well made, the actual playing of songs doesn’t work. I’m learning the ukulele through yousician and it wont accept notes that i’m playing. this happens with strumming and plucking. My mic works fine and it takes most notes, but i can never get 100% on a song, even when I play it flawlessly, because the app always misses a lot of notes that i’m actually playing.
Tuner isn’t efficient
by Anonymous #1072 on 2021/04/08 00:08
The app told me to tune my 1E so i did, it told me to keep going higher and higher. So me being a beginner, followed that. Then it tells me to go higher. So I do. And then my string breaks.
Hate it!
by Scrabblechic on 2021/04/07 02:34
I purchased a yearly subscription. Prior to that, I used many different YouTube videos from Cynthia Lin, Ukulele Mike, etc and I was doing really well. Then I tried this. It is absolutely terrible. I went from strumming songs to plucking one note at a time. Don’t waste your money on this. It’s frustrating. Not much instruction and irritating sound tracks to follow. And worst of all it’s not fun.

I love the app from day one so fun and good for learning a new instrument but it only gives you a certain amount of time for practicing every day but you could buy a very expensive trial for 60 dollars! If you want to practice more
Ok.....
by Ok..... but a few errors on 2021/04/05 02:19
This app is great and I really like how the lyrics are and the little ball to tell you how high/low you are singing. But, there’s not a lot of songs to choose from. This is just me but I like queen so you could add: Bohemians rhapsody, Death on two legs, Thank god it’s Christmas, and for my sister some Taylor swift Please fix this 😁
Hate the NEW interface! Please change back!!
by ZukeyBean on 2021/04/04 13:49
I tried the new version for several months now and I just hate it so much. In the old version you could clearly see your progress, different paths, what was coming up, scrolling vertically. Super easy and visual. Now it’s horizontal and you can only look a section of the paths with all these frickin numbers (your levels, how many lessons within each section), etc. It’s horrible. So frustrating. Actual lessons are the same and still effective, but choosing paths, seeing where you are, and feeling any kind of accomplishment is Gone. You could study their paragraphs and paragraphs of instruction in their FAQ section to figure out how to use this new version but before it was so intuitive! Please bring back the old or give us a choice! I am sure you are going to give me your bot response of how change can be hard and that I will grow to love it. I am giving honest feedback- I tried it and hate it and so do many other paying customers. Listen to your users!
Love it

Great but not perfect
by SickNastyMan on 2021/04/03 15:01
I think this app is great, however, the app sometimes doesn’t pick up the sound from my guitar even when I’m using an amp. This causes you to lose points and stars and will cause you to get a lower grade on activities.
Outstanding!!

Gotta Love this app!! I’ve been trying to learn how to play my guitar for a few years off and on with no good results. Even following YouTube videos for beginners and all. I tell you I was playing my own made up tunes in less than an hour with this app! God it feels good to finally be able to actually play.

by josie posie wosie on 2021/04/01 17:15
Do you want a free tool to help you learn the basics at a steady pace? Perfect! Just don’t expect to be playing along to any of your favorite tracks like it says you can. Or to practice for more than 30 minutes a day, for that matter. To unlock the full library and unlimited practice time, expect to pay a hefty subscription fee.
Truly helped me
by MrMikeManField on 2021/04/01 15:06
I have been trying to play the guitar for 30 years. I’ve picked it up I’ve taken lessons I’ve read books. The only thing that has consistently allowed me to play every day and love it every day has been this app.
good, but i don’t think it can really hear me
by bxbyhaylee17 on 2021/04/01 02:54
i do ukulele stuff on here, and when i go to play the practice songs, it can’t here me play the cord that it wants me to play. like for example, in one of the songs it told me to play the bottom string and i did, and it won’t work. i tried doing it over and over again. it either says it’s wrong, or it doesn’t pick it up at all. it’s really frustrating. other than that, the app is pretty good. maybe it’s just me that’s having this problem or i’m stupid and not figuring something out. 😭

I love this app it works great for me trying to play the ukulele, but I think when your 10 minute timer runs out you should at least be able to play the things you’ve already done. But that is my only complaint, besides that this is a great app.
Amazing!

You really need to get this app I know so many chords now! It teaches you riffs chords and melodies and more! You get one free lesson a day (about ten minutes). And you can play lots of songs to! But most songs you can’t play without premium+. Other then that great app! It is teaching me so much so fast!

GREEDY App!
by StorySecrets on 2021/03/28 21:12
I’ve been using Yousician for about 3 years now, and I can tell you that the developers just keep getting more and more greedy. First, it was limited lesson time. Then, it was not being able to play most songs. NOW, it’s LIMITED PRACTICE TIME TOO?? You can barely play 10 minutes a day for free, which is ridiculous! Subscriptions aren’t cheap, either! I will be taking my business elsewhere, thanks!

Fabulous until Feb 2021 update; Garbage thereafter
by OlgsUWS on 2021/03/26 00:06
The new UI is definitively worse. I’ve basically stopped playing since the update. I will not be renewing my subscription. Maybe at some point I will invest again in looking at Yousician competitors, just don’t have the time to do the research again. Sad. I was loving it. I had gotten up to level 8 on guitar in 6 months. Was excited every day to play. And then the update came that changed the UI. I can’t pick the exact paths I want to progress on. I preferred focusing on lead. Now it’s just a big dump. Sounds like the classic change for the sake of change to justify developer budgets and salaries.
New update took them back 10 years
by snwbrdj on 2021/03/25 18:17
I bought the full version ($175) because I’m serious about learning, but I also work in the industry and always looking at what other companies are doing. The old version with the learning tracks was best in class. We research all other learning programs and Yousician was out front for sure. Now... they just aren’t. The new layout is so bad, many of our testers have just ended up deleting the program altogether. It no longer allows you to track your learning progression, and there used to be thoughtful placement of the individual lessons. Now all you have are these weird pictures that they pulled from Getty that are supposed to relate to a song or lesson. Instead they make the learning process clunky. Good news though. Fender and Gibson both have pretty good learning apps. I’d go with them. Take it from someone out $175, you can do better. Edit: the developer response is the SAME on they sent me a long time ago. Well I’ve tried it many times and it’s terrible. I would never have given you guys $175 if I knew you were going to ruin the app.
Revert to Old UI/UX! Please!
by MashaT22 on 2021/03/25 04:36
Update: I’ve been trying to give the new UI a chance in the past month, but I really still feel the exact same way (OR below). My progress has come to a halt as far as the lessons go for exactly the reasons I described below. I’ve been trying on both guitar and Uke, and I’m just getting nowhere fast and frustrated. I’ve essentially resorted to only practicing individual songs, and that’s really a shame because I’m not getting the guitar education I came here to get. By the way, aside from all the content being mixed up, I have yet to find a single theory lesson. Where is all the theory content? The thing that bothers me most is seeing the developer trying to sell this to its users when numerous reviewers are all making similar complaints regarding the new interface. Rather than being “confident” we will all come to love it with time, perhaps it makes sense to listen to the customers who took time to write here, on Google Play, and on social media (and most of whom appear to be paying customers). I’m not hearing a single person saying that they love this new update, and collectively, most seem to hate it, feel frustrated and/or disappointed by it for essentially the same reasons. I am certain a lot of thought and work went into this major update by the Yousician team, but sometimes research and testing ideas in small beta groups turns out to be wrong in the real world. I’m really disappointed in the response more than anything. People clearly want you to revert to the old format . . . or at least offer a choice between the two UI/content experiences in the settings. Making major changes is a huge risk in app development. Sometimes it a huge hit, other times it bombs. It’s okay to fail at something — but when your response is telling us you’re confident we will all come to love the changes with time, you’re essentially saying that you don’t care and won’t do anything about it in between the lines . . . is pandering really an appropriate response to people who took the time to write very serious and difficult reviews in an effort to keep Yousician at the top of guitar learning apps? All of us who wrote these tough reviews clearly love this app and we care to stick with it, but we can’t do that without having the user experience and content we signed up for. There was a really telling review posted Snwbrdj among others. I encourage you to really hear these reviews and take them seriously. I hope Yousician will also release an official statement regarding how the company intends to make this right . . . or whether you intend to at all. Please hear out our collective voice and do the right thing by bringing the old format back ASAP. P.S. It would also be fair to compensate premium customers for time/value lost on this new update where people’s progress and ability to learn has clearly been affected — however many weeks it take until you fix this, that’s how many weeks premium customers’ accounts should be pro-rated. —————————— Old Review: I previously felt this app is worthy is 4-5 stars. Today’s update is a massive thumbs down. I know the team probably worked hard on this new UI, but I find it to be way too busy and difficult to use with my brain injury — I’m totally lost. In the prior UI’s lessons, I was a level 3-4 on Lead and Knowledge and a 2 on chords. I liked seeing three distinct paths with my levels clearly labeled. I felt it was easy to find exactly what I wanted to learn within mere moments (though it would have helped to be able to expand and collapse the modules for faster scrolling). This new interface is utterly confusing because mashes everything together in a way that my head doesn’t learn. As an educator in higher education, I can attest to the fact that the older UI/paths were more flexible for a variety of learning styles. Gibson and other guitar apps seem to mash things together . . . and that’s why I did not choose them and came to Yousician — because you guys were doing something uniquely flexible. That being said, I would at least like to see you guys add the ability to choose a preferred UI — the three distinct paths or a singular, mashed up path. I hope you will do this ASAP because the app is not usable for me right now, and I expect that many others would say the same thing. Also, I have a problem with your premium song content. You only seem to add one song per week (and sometimes they are too difficult or easy depending on one’s level, which means a person can’t even play that new song). I don’t understand why your team isn’t licensing much more content and adding dozens of songs every week. It’s expensive to license songs individually, but it seems your competition and other music apps in general find ways to make it work like using streaming platforms and allowing customers to upload our own owned music to play. There simply is not nearly enough premium song choices in the app, and that needs to change ASAP. I worry that you’re losing business because people will cancel as they get bored of playing the same stuff on repeat . . . or people may not sign up to pay for subscriptions when they see the little content that’s offered during the trial. Please make adding lots of premium content a priority! When you fix the above two things, I will change back to five stars. Thanks for hearing me out. Your team is amazing and works really hard. I hate to be so critical, but I hope you’ll take my feedback seriously and implement solutions. I still love you guys and hope you’ll make it so that I can use the app again ASAP. The first matter is critical — I’m sure the new content and videos are great and can be incorporated into the three distinct learning paths for those who prefer using that interface method.

Guitar: good app for starting but needs some MAJOR work
by Colergxffhvffgggv on 2021/03/23 09:42
I used Yousician for my first 6 months of playing guitar and it’s not terrible.... as a starting point. It’s a great tool to get you started playing guitar. It does a giving you a sense of achievement when you start playing and is a great tool for teaching beginner lead stuff like simple melodies, legatos, bends (honestly really great for teaching bends because it shows you if you are bending too high, too low, or just right.). It makes soloing very approachable which is not an easy thing to do. The thing that I hate though is that it doesn’t let you view tabs/chords for any of the songs. It forces you to slow down the song in a practice mode. Also doesn’t really teach scales with the lead part of the course. It’s absolutely terrible at teaching rhythm and timing though. If the only way you want to play guitar is through strumming chords or fingerpicking DO NOT pay for this app. It barely teaches strumming. They don’t tell you to keep a loose wrist, to always keep your strumming hand in motion (the reason for this being that if your hand is in a consistent and constant motion, you won’t have to worry about mistiming a strum or getting off rhythm. This is honestly the most important thing to learn about rhythm guitar it’s baffling that the app doesn’t teach this. It doesn’t matter how good you are at forming chords if you can’t strum correctly.), about onbeats/offbeats, and they don’t teach general timing and how it correlates with when an upstroke/downstroke is needed. The app just kinda expects you to be able to perfectly time upstrums and downstrums without explaining he way rhythm works. Also the fingerpicking tutorial is a joke especially since they don’t give you viewable tabs, sheet music or chords (super frustrating when you’re trying to figure out what chords you need to pick through). Basically all they tell you is that your thumb hits bass notes and the index and middle hit the high notes. It fails to explain any of the basic patterns like Travis picking or how timing fits into it ON A RHYTHM COURSE. In short the rhythm course is absolutely terrible. It doesn’t teach you much outside of how to form some basic chords. I would recommend that you actually learn about rhythm and strumming then use the app to learn some songs/test your skills (or just buy a premium subscription to a tabs app. Most of these apps give you official chords to millions of songs with backing tracks to play along with that can have a metronome added to them or be slowed down. The visual part of yousician is great until you realize the only way you can play is with it. Imagine having to break out your phone every time you want to play guitar.) It’s still frustrating to use though it almost seems like the app wants its user to be completely reliant on it to play anything on guitar. Overall I think this is a great app to use for the first couple months of your guitar playing career, but after you learn all the cowboy chords/basic bending I would cut the subscription and actually learn how to learn to play the instrument (YouTube tutorials are a great way to do this! Again a premium subscription to a tabs/chords app is also a great resource to have.) The app does a great job of giving a complete beginner the ability to play and feel accomplished, but it does a terrible job of teaching you how to play the instrument fluently. The way it teaches guitar is kinda like someone teaching you a foreign language solely through reading/writing and not teaching you how to verbally communicate. It’s not entirely pointless, but it’s real world applications are extremely limited. Also definitely wouldn’t use for 6 months. I just bought a year subscription (which I regret haven’t used it in a few months. There are much better ways to learn. The chords on the premium play songs vary in accuracy.). If you want to use the app do monthly subscriptions. You’ll be far past using the app to learn how to play after 4 months. Also for a side note at a couple months in I probably would have given this app 5 stars, but now that I know more about guitar this app is super flawed and definitely stunted my growth as a musician. Actually teach good timing in your rhythm courses instead of throwing players into it expecting them to be naturally gifted at it.

Sorry but this new layout IS NOT IT ... I’ve used it for a couple of weeks and told myself “change can be hard, just adjust (it might be better in the end)”. But no it’s simply trash I’m a paying subscriber and I want my money back !!!. BRING THE OLD LAYOUT BACK !!!! Or atleast have a toggle option in the settings for those who prefer one layout over the other ... Y’all were so good 🙄🙄🙄. Don’t tell me to adjust I’ve tried, don’t like it. I need a response or I’ll be forced to “sue” because I didn’t approve this update and I paid my $120.00$. (This isn’t the app I bought .)

NO GOOD...
by tryingsomeappsout on 2021/03/17 14:48
This app can help with playing, but it can be really annoying. You can only do the lessons for a limited amount of time, and you have to deal with ads A LOT. If you are downloading the app to be able to learn a song, don’t try this one. The free music on here is horrible. If you want better music you have to get premium. I don’t know about you, but I’m not trying to spend too much. Even if you do get the premium, some of the songs that you may like, may not be on the app. It doesn’t have Bruno Mars and only has one ABBA song on it. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!

by bear trap 14 on 2021/03/16 15:34
Good app with good features but I stopped using it because every song that is not made by them you need a premium account for and also for advanced learning you need a premium account. My opinion is the premium version costs to much also. Is you don’t mind paying than it is a great app if not I wouldn’t get it.
Nothing loads!!
by EllaLuvsBunnies on 2021/03/16 14:09
This is so crappy. It started out fine but the guided lessons just do the same thing over and over and I didn’t learn anything. The I tried doing stuff myself and it took so long to load! It took almost fifteen minutes to load one song and I had to refresh the app multiple times. This happens EVRY DAY

First of all, I really love using this app, and have been using it over 5 years. I use it with my private student and they love it as well. A few of them have bought a full subscription as well. Just recently, I bought the full subscription and I realized that my username was changed. I checked my profile and also noticed the the email has changed as well. I cannot change my password because I don’t know the previous password since it has been changed without my authorization . I am very disappointed with this since I paid $120.00 for full access. Please help. I will have to stop recommending and using this app.

Video game but no music reading
by JonasRodney on 2021/03/12 14:03
Yousician is fun, but there is a whole lot it doesn’t teach you. As a result, even though I’ve been using this for nine months and in this app am decent, outside this app I can’t actually play. I can’t look at guitar tabs and play them anywhere, I always have to have my mobile device which ends up just looking like a handicap for a musician. If you want to try the app for a month, it will let you see the very basics and if you enjoy playing guitar. But if you want to learn how to really play, you’ll need a different app or an instructor. You’d honestly be better off learning on YouTube than this app. Thankfully every other guitar app that teaches you how to play will be less expensive than this one.

I like the app, I think that’s it has a lot of value However it’s geared towards developing a complete guitar player and that’s great, but I just want to learn to strum and I wish that there were lessons just based on that. I’m a vocalist/ songwriter and personally I really only need or want to know and to be proficient at strumming chords and patterns. Other than that this app is excellent.
Terrible update
by Ciman1957 on 2021/03/10 23:25
The layout is confusing and hard to navigate. There still are very few songs and the ones you have are often terribly arranged. The subscription is very expensive compared to other options on the internet and the free practice time has now been limited to 10 minutes per day, rendering it pretty much useless. I am switching to Justin Guitar.
It is fun
by Sugar Bunny 🐇 on 2021/03/10 04:54
There is one drawback, but this is a good app. The one thing I don’t like is that you have to pay to play anything you want. If you could do the things you have already done again without having to pay that would be great.
Really!
by steven_foamy.tv on 2021/03/07 20:43
So it was good for like 10 minutes then it said I can’t do anything and I have to pay for a membership to do anything on the app! Don’t recommend better apps
Too expensive
by Zar2492 on 2021/03/06 00:51
Love the app but the price point is just too much. Please consider dropping it down!
10 mins a day
by Faris Rezaei on 2021/03/04 14:46
WHY IN THE WORLD IS IT ONLY 10 MINS A DAY?!!??? IM NEVER GONNA PAY 150 A YEAR JUST FOR SOME EXTRA TIME!!! WHY DID YOU PATCH THE DATE AND TIME CHANGE 😡😡😡
Lacks Variety
by T 2323 on 2021/03/04 05:54
This app has filters for you to use to narrow down the genre you might be interested in playing but it doesn’t have at least ONE SONG per genre in there. It definitely lacks variety.
Good concept poor execution
by Mkex on 2021/03/04 02:52
This app is a great idea. It tries to teach you how to play while using a guitar hero concept, side scrolling and plucking out stings/cords. At the end of each song you are graded, but there are so many times where I would hit the sting and it would not register that I made the note. Seeing you are graded on how you did on the song which will advance you further in the training it is aggravating when you don’t get credit for a note when you did hit it. I would suggest the fender training app over this one.
Bring back the old layout
by Rock_Girl❤ on 2021/03/03 23:48
The new layout is hella annoying. Seriously. It automatically scrolls to the end and then I have to scroll back to what I was doing. There’s a bug that after you are done with a song the cheering music is still playing in the background while trying to play another song. It literally lags and the new “modern” look to the whole app is super unnecessary. Gives me the feel that y’all are trying to keep up with the simple yet modern look but it just wasn’t it. I’ve had musician for a loooong time and this change makes me want to end my subscription.
Worst

I was one of those who was hopelessly stuck on a certain song. I debated renewing for another year. I’m so glad I did! It’s fun again.
Bring back the old layout.
by Knebula on 2021/03/02 17:09
The new layout is confusing and frustrating and makes me not want to be on the app anymore. Bring back the old layout.

by Fewsax1234 on 2021/03/01 19:26
New update stinks. All lessons levels being open is great. But the horizontal scrolling is horrible!! It was nice to see the overview lesson tree style. Also when is bass gonna get more lessons added? There’s so many different aspects to bass playing that isn’t covered.
I hate the new update
by Hunky hunky on 2021/03/01 16:53
The vertical three part lesson made sense and made it easy foe me to pick and choice which wills I wanted to work on and I love it !! But now it’s so confusing and overwriting it’s not at all orangixed to where I can pick my own process I want to have the autonomy to do it myself this is not a good update at alll!
Good app to learn A SONG, not to learn skills
by Andres Najera on 2021/02/28 19:27
Yousician is good a app with a great idea, but falls short. Very short. Unfortunately each update punishes free users with something new. It used to allow one to use “practice mode” until you got numb from playing, now it just limits your play time severely to the point where if you’re on a roll and progressing, you get abruptly stopped! Completely kills all the momentum you built. All this on songs that they made or are copy written free, since free users are prohibited from other songs, which is understandable. But on free songs? Come on. The biggest thing the app falls short on is it doesn’t even tell you HOW TO IMPROVE in areas where you are struggling. The app simply doesn’t learn about you and your mistakes to provide an exercise that would help you in any way. Just a “try slowing down in practice mode” message, which now limited for a free user. “Performance mode” doesn’t teach, and practice mode” won’t let you practice, is what sums up the app currently. If you’re looking to learn A SONG, sure this app will help if you have some experience with an instrument already. But it’s extremely expensive. And that’s if they even have the song. The search for an app ( free or paid ) that actually teaches continues.
Needs ability to view entire song
by run2tunes on 2021/02/28 13:06
Yousician is a fun game, and it has motivated me to pick up my instrument more often. But it’s not possible to improve your playing beyond a basic level with Yousician. Unfortunately, the bouncing ball method is the only option for playing a song. It’s not possible to see the entire score, or even expand the view beyond a couple bars. It’s nearly impossible to memorize a song when you can only see a few bars at a time, and this limitation also makes it harder to learn difficult passages. Because the note you’re supposed to play is always indicated, it’s not possible to learn to find your place in the music, or gauge your ability to play in rhythm.
BE YOUR OWN MUSIC TEACHER. ITS WORTH IT
by Dahn.te on 2021/02/28 11:00
If you are a beginner this is the way to go. Take your time with it. I think the best thing for me was admitting I didn’t know anything about what I thought I knew about piano and just jumped right into it. Self-discipline is key. Some of the work outs are challenging and you will get frustrated but that’s okay, they’re growing pains and the fact that you did yourself is dope. A teacher would probably be worse plus it’s a only $20 a month compared to $25-75 an hour and you can learn at your own pace or choose which work out or song you want to do based on your experience. In 2 months I learned how to read music and play piano and the same time. I’m no master pianist but I no longer feel intimidated when I sit down at a piano. I plan on using this piano even after I get it down packed. I may wanna learn guitar, bass, or tighten up my vocals at some point and that’s all included when you subscribe. It’s really the best app for practicing musicians
I USED to love this app...
by Eatballs on 2021/02/27 15:26
I’ve been using Yousician (piano and occasionally guitar) since 2014. I’ve mostly had just a free membership, but have upgraded to premium and even premium+ for about 6 months total in the last two years. Today (2/27/21), they decided to do a huge upgrade. As of now, free practice time is no longer available. Previously, I could practice a part of a song as long as I needed and “free play” time only counted when performing a part of a song. Now, I’m barely getting warmed up on a part before my time is up. I’ve been okay with the many note recognition issues (especially when it comes to the bottom note in 2 note power chords), and even the fact that the popular song selection is very small and only available for premium+ members (not to mention a lack of complete songs). But this recent change feels like a huge money grab. They’re now officially in the same category as Flowkey, Skoove, and Simply Piano; pay to play. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with a company making money for all their hard work, but why make this change nearly 10 years after the fact? All this said, I’m done with this app. Time to get a real teacher anyway. ✌️
Please undo the last update.
by Idon'twanttoaddanickname on 2021/02/27 02:33
The app was absolutely perfect as it was. The way the lessons were laid out made sense. Now they are all jumbled together and its not as satisfying to complete the lessons. I do not like the horizontal scrolling and if there was a way to undownload the latest update i would do it. That being said i still love this app. and im sure ill get used to the weird new layout eventually, but i feel like the redesign was unnecessary and a step in the wrong direction.
A few issues
by 😁🎁 on 2021/02/26 20:52
Hi! I’ve left a review before about this app! It’s been very helpful with enhancing my singing skills, and I’m currently learning piano and guitar and it’s going great! I’m just having an issue with the sound recognition with piano. I sit don’t want to be that person who excessively complains but I really would like for it to be fixed. It’s gotten to be a bit annoying and disappointing. Hopefully a solution is in the way 😁
Great for absolute beginners, but detrimental over the long term.
by BeerSnobbery on 2021/02/26 14:31
If you have absolutely zero instrumental or music training, this is a great way to start, develop those muscles and callouses, basic dexterity, and get used to simply practicing. But beyond absolute beginner level, I recommend against it because it’s just a game. Playing for points and gold stars is nothing like playing music. Yousician is to being a musician what the Playstation is to being a combat fighter pilot. You can pretend just like you can in a video game, but it will actually hold you back from making any real progress. On a more technical note, there is no separation by genre, so if you want to learn Classical versus Metal versus Blues, this is definitely not where you want to be. Lots of techniques that are irrelevant to most styles of music, taught badly, and marching band music for instruments that would never be in a marching band.
Great but...
by iluvcupcakes123 on 2021/02/25 23:06
The app is really great and I like how you can do many different types of string instruments, and tune them, and learn how to do it better. It’s really helped me. But, I look at the prices and they are honestly way over the top. And the adds for premium are annoying but it’s still OK. Please read this and improve this great app plus I’d not like the limit.

by Abby Tarantola on 2021/02/25 20:45
I mean the app is cool and all and it is really helpful but I don’t have the money to pay for the subscription and the free time I get to learn in the app it’s only like 10 minutes or what it feels like. I just wish it was a longer amount of time like and hour or something idk it’s a really good app but I just wish it gave me more time to play that’s it :(
Old layout was better
by 18283$djdjdjs on 2021/02/25 20:17
Please change it back. The old layout had a more game leveling type of vibe to it where you can choose your own route now everything is just mushed together and it’s really not it.
Technical issues
by Lyanarc on 2021/02/25 06:27
First, the app often doesn’t appear to hear me playing the notes. It’s frustrating because you can’t move forward. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting, and it still does not work correctly. Second, I thought I was paying to learn popular songs. I also thought it was a monthly payment and I was charged a lump sum. third, I think the practice note and tempo parts should really start out at a slower pace. With a human teacher there is time for slowness. I know you can put it in practice mode to change the tempo, but I think the slower tempo should just be an initial part of the lesson. I’m not really happy spending this lump sum and being committed for a year. I would rather have tried it on a monthly basis. I am close to being ready to go back to a human teachers. I hope this frustration subsides and the app gets easier to use.

This app is great. Not wonderful but pretty great. I like that it’s not only for one instrument. You can pick which instrument you want to play! I also like that you can practice and make the tempo slow or fast. What I LOVE ❤️ Is that you can play 10 minutes a day for FREE. You pay 0 money to play for 10 minutes!!! But what I don’t like is that you get to play for ONLY 10 minutes. I would LOVE THIS APP SO MUCH MORE if we could play for maybe 20 or even 15 minutes a day for free!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Average
by Big Human Tripod on 2021/02/22 16:55
This App is average. I like the concept very much, however sometimes it does not give you the credit you deserve for playing the right note, and marks it as wrong. It is very weird to me on why this is happening, I know for a fact as an experienced guitarist as myself, I know that I am playing the right note. I even plugged in my amp loud so my phone would recognize what I am playing, however it still says wrong no matter what I do. Sometimes it says that I do it right, and then asked me to play the note again and I do it and it says it’s wrong even though I know it’s not wrong.

Pretty Good
by fitzbeau on 2021/02/19 01:25
Overall, this is an amazing app, but one thing I don’t really enjoy is that I’m paying lots of money per month for non copyrighted covers instead of the real songs. And I get the copyright thing, and it’s not that the covers are bad, I just enjoy playing the original song.

Okay I guess.

Can’t decide if I want to commit.
by CreoleTX on 2021/02/17 23:26
Free version makes you watch their ad so much that you don’t have time to navigate the options before your time is up. So it’s going to take me days, waiting through the ‘free trial’ ad over and over again and only about 10 minutes to navigate the lessons, to decide if it’s worth $179.99 a year. I’m not even sure I’m disciplined enough to commit to that. Seems like a decent app, but all I learned so far is that I stink at guitar. Lol.
Not very happy at the moment
by Cassi M. M on 2021/02/17 23:19
I was previously pleased with Yousician as I had purchased a ukulele to learn to play. I purchased a 3 month subscription a while back and did not opt for auto renewal or subscription restores. 6 months later I have a transaction for $59.99 for Yousician for a subscription restore which I did not agree to. I can’t even cancel my subscription from the app. Messaged customer service hoping to get a response.
Cool concept, execution a bit lacking.
by TheHolyFool on 2021/02/17 22:36
First off, if you’re like me and you want to perfect each exercise (get 3 stars) before moving on to the next, be prepared for endless hours of frustration. The app doesn’t do a very good job of picking up notes that are very clearly being played (like, you can clearly hear the full chord and see that every string is ringing), especially if you’re playing through an amp. They either need to fix the note recognition problem, or relax the standards a bit. It’s more a matter of luck than skill whether or not you manage to make it through a whole song without at least one note in a chord not registering, and it kind of takes the joy out of using the app. It’s much less of a problem on the “knowledge” and “lead” path where you’re mostly playing individual notes than it is with the “rhythm” path. Besides that, the original songs are pretty cheesy. Would be cool to learn more blues licks and picking patterns, but maybe I just haven’t gotten far enough into the exercises for all that because I’m stuck trying to get 3 stars on some dumbed down version of Brown Eyed Girl or whatever.

Great Learning System
by Reagan2448 on 2021/01/19 15:06
I LOVE this app so far. I have tried learning guitar on my own multiple different times and always ended up giving up on it, mostly because I wasn't seeing the results I wanted and also because I just didn't know what to do. This system makes it fun and easy to learn, no matter what skill level you are. I really like that they make it like a game. I grew up playing guitar hero and the song layouts on here are a lot like it, so that makes it really fun as well as beneficial. I also like the skill progressions, as well as the certificates you can download. I personally like to physically see progress, so being able to see how many stars I have on each song, or if I perfected it and got gold stars really helps me to see just how far my skill level is actually progressing. I am saving every certificate each time I go up a skill level and can't wait to put them all together when I finish the program. I would HIGHLY recommend this program; especially as someone who has tried for years to learn the guitar and got very minimal results on my own. Plus it's cheaper than getting guitar lessons from an actual coach. If you are someone who is a visual learner and can coach/critique yourself as you go, this would be a great program for you. I haven't had this much fun learning something new in a very long time. 10/10
I absolutely love this app!
by 8Pat7 on 2018/03/21 06:26
I have the subscription for the guitar. When I first downloaded the app it had some glitches but since the latest update I don’t have any complaints and even when it glitched (the sound wouldn’t play at times usually if the lesson was stopped due to other activity on my phone) if I exited the app and came back it was fine. I only have praise for Yousician! This app has sooo many different helpful components. From video and lessons to songs and challenges (against other users) to charts and emails that encourage you and track your progress. All the video lessons are extremely easy to comprehend and the layout makes it extremely easy to navigate. It is super addictive!!! There are several times Ive been totally sucked in spending hours glued to the app trying to perfect a lesson to rack up gold stars. I promise you the money is beyond worth it! You cannot beat the convenience of going at your pace practicing at any time for as long as you like! There are 3 sections (knowledge, rhythm, and lead). I have completed knowledge and I’m on the 3rd level of rhythm. I love the progressive levels. Rhythm and lead each have 10 levels and knowledge has 5. The gradual build from one lesson to another is pretty much flawless. I’m definitely going to write a review when I’m finished with all 3 sections. This app is my blessing!
Love it, needs some improvement... 4 1/2 stars
by doggy poo #2 on 2020/10/08 03:07
This app is the best ever! I love its learning experience and how they motivate you. Although this is my favorite app, I’m disappointed for a few reasons. First, the “need headphones” issue almost all other reviews are talking about is a big one. Using headphones really isn’t a big deal! However, if you don’t have any, the app just will NOT work. The fact that it picks up the noise that the app is making itself is a bad issue. Next, the new update. This one is partly my fault, but still. I clicked onto the app to take a lesson, and it told me to update the app. I wanted to do it, and so I tried to, only to discover my storage was full. May I note that I still had 4 1/2 empty GB. Anyway, I got back into the app to take a lesson and clear up space later and I clicked on the X in the corner. It was a fake X. Now I have to clear up lots of storage for 20 minutes (my tablet takes forever to clear fpr some reason), and in the meantime I just cannot take a guitar lesson. These are some issues, and please clear them. This is still one of my fav apps! Sorry for the long review... bye! Edit: The update thing is less of an issue now, however the fact that you can’t use until updating us SUUUUPERR frustrating. Like, can I just learn guitar BEFORE updating?
So so enjoyable and helpful
by windfieldz on 2019/02/18 18:15
I can’t recommend Yousician enough. I remember when Rock Band came out I kept saying I wish someone would make something like this where you actually learn and...here it is! I’ve been playing about a year and first, it’s SO fun. Secondly, I am learning so quickly. I do ten minutes a day but usually end up puttering another 10. The people who make this app have put so much thought, care and love into the layout and lessons. I really can’t recommend enough. I have premium bc I thought I’d like to play the famous songs but actually I find I enjoy the ones yousician has a lot more - they are usually not more than two minutes or so and are very carefully composed and calibrated to help you work on really specific things and help you progress. Also a lot of them are some of my favorite tunes now - playing in the park! I still pay for premium thought bc this is a service worth paying for. You will find yourself looking forward to having a few empty moments in your day so you can mess around. Looking forward to what they keep coming up with and THANKS for making such a great app. I would like more instructional videos on exact finger placement and strumming - I think I tug a lot of my strings around and don’t know how to stop.
Beware of Trial
by Landjwil on 2020/03/28 16:01
I signed up for the free trial over Christmas break for my son who now has a guitar. The app was doing okay at first and he seemed to like it. Then it couldn’t hear him well enough and kept asking for an amp to be plugged in (or not giving him credit for the notes he was playing.) An amp we don’t have...so now it just doesn’t seem to pick up what he’s playing despite lots of attempts to make it work. On the last day of the trial, I canceled because this was frustrating him and he quit playing. I had signed up for the 3 month subscription (with the trial you had to commit to something) because it was a good deal if he was really committed. When I went to cancel, it wouldn’t let me because it wasn’t 24 hours before the end of the trial (so technically 6 days...not 7). I emailed Yousician and they told me it was out of their hands and I needed to contact Apple. Well Apple pretty much told me it was my fault that I didn’t read the initial email (which it is in there and I didn’t see it at the time...it is my fault I suppose) but definitely disappointing that there was no grace and I was just out $60. That’ll teach me not to do trials. They always get you one way or another. And I wouldn’t have minded the $60 if the app worked well enough to pick up the sound without extra equipment. Just an 11 year old kid with a busy schedule wanting to learn how to play the guitar. :(
I love this app😍
by my dream singing app on 2020/01/11 17:13
OK soi wanted to learn piano 🎹 money. But it’s different you don’t have to pay money I mean if you want to it’s $30 per month but who want to do that. Instead you can play along with any instrument do you have and it will give you free time to play and once the free times over you try tomorrow. This way you can learn so much, they even did you singing there’s one instrument you can’t plan that, drums. It will ask you for money now and then but you can just refuse. That’s why I give it a five star. Currently in this app I am learning singing and piano, it is so very helpful. It’s helpful when you’re just a nine-year-old and it’s vacation and you have nothing to do.(I am a nine year old) back in my home I took piano classes and didn’t exactly work out because I didn’t know what to do, and he tried so hard I mean I tried hard but I couldn’t understand anything to years later here in America I told him many apps piano apps and ask me for money so I had to delete them but Yousician is different I love it. I know it asks for money but you can just refuse. My mom doesn’t have a car so I can’t go to any classes with this app I can learn anything on the piano sitting at home. In Conclusion this is a great app.
Worth the money pays for itself in 3 lessons
by Metalmadman666 on 2018/02/06 01:40
I am a veteran musician (not a guitarist) I am a vocalist but I always had a guitar laying around, picked it up and learned a few chords but that’s it. Now in my 40’s I decided to pick up guitar a get serious. I know it’s late in life but thought it would be a great hobby away from my normal music and singing career. So I am now on week 2 of the premium version and I love it. I’ve had my guitar in my hands more in 2 weeks than the last 30yrs. I started at the very beginning to be sure not to miss a lesson, trick, or nuance, something I might have rushed or overlooked in the past. I am now at my level, comfort, challenges and knowledge where I left off years ago. I definitely have gotten better with all 3 levels “lead, knowledge and rhythm”. This app is fun and addicting. It keeps you motivated and interested in learning. Definitely worth the money it paid for itself 100 times over in the last 2 weeks compared to the cost of what a real teacher would’ve cost including the time, traveling, gas etc. I’ve tried a few guitar apps and this one is by far the most fun and a lot less frustrating than the others. Can’t wait to learn more. I’ll write another review in 3 months. 🤘💀🤘
Great program. Ripped me off for a full year sub
by positiverpr on 2019/11/01 20:01
The app is great. I signed up for a month. Cancelled this am before the end of the month because I didn’t want to forget(was possible gonna renew later but want gonna have much time next month). With more than a week left on my rx- I sign in and the app makes it appear that I can’t utilize the non-free material because I’ve cancelled but gives me the option to “renew”. I thought that this was very annoying but figured I’d renew then use the rest of my paid month and cancel before the end of the week. The renew option gave no hint that it would do anything other than continue what id already purchased and certainly made no suggestion that by hitting this button that I’d be upgrading to a full year subscription... some thing I’d never even considered. Very misleading. I would approach the makers personally if the site didn’t give you the dead end of “you need to approach iTunes” which then gives an immediate “you don’t qualify for a refund”. I’m not a troll.... not a complainer... and I’m not an idiot. I’ll pay and enjoy the program for a year... but this was a trap. Just posting to hopefully prevent someone else from falling into it.
I like it but there’s something you need to fix
by LuxsGalaxy on 2017/11/04 16:45
I really enjoy learning from Yousician. I’m learning to play the piano at the moment. I learned from my friends and I know a lot of notes and a few songs but I want to learn the basics and try and get really good. One thing I don’t really like though is the premium thing. Like I get that people have to make a profit so you do this premium program but not everyone has the time and money to learn this. I feel like Yousician got more attention if you’d let aspiring piano players (or any instrument) learn faster and for free. Shouldn’t everyone has access to the beauty of music? I have a friend who’s been learning piano for 7 years from her teacher but she has to pay about 100 or something per lesson. So i’d much rather learn from Yousician but I can’t learn as fast and as efficiently as I’d like to because of this silly program. Maybe if you made people pay money for something else in the app like idk maybe to unlock a song you need a certain amount of points and if you don’t have enough you can pay to unlock it. Something like that. I just think that if you made it free that you’d get a lot more attention :) but that’s my opinion. I just hope you agree with me, and thanks if you read this whole thing by the way
Great...but
by Taegan Mae on 2018/12/29 09:36
Yousician has been really helpful in my guitar journey. I have learned a lot about the different ways to play and how to play most effectively, and sometimes it will give you a song to play as part of your lesson. Now I’m not a master guitar player, but sometimes it will tell me that I played the wrong note, when I clearly played the right one. My microphone is clearly exposed to the sound of my guitar and my guitar is fully in tune. I will pluck a string, and it will say that I got it wrong, even though I plucked the right string in the right fret. Worst of all, some lessons require you to get 100% completion on a song in order to move on and complete a skill, so sometimes I will find myself playing a song over and over and over for more time than I would like to spend perfecting every note of the song. Also, things like this can be really frustrating, I would know, and if you play a song without wearing headphones, the microphone will pick up what your speakers are spitting out and tell you that you’re wrong for every note until you wear headphones. It tells you before hand to “wear headphones for best experience” you basically have to wear headphones in order to use the app. And if you don’t have headphones with you, then you’re in quite a pickle. The app is great, but can get very frustrating.
Good intentions but bad app!
by vlogbuster on 2019/05/28 00:15
I know the guitar basics like frets picks how to hold it and that. Well the app assumes the basics include all the chords! Ok so I deleted it and chose that I knew nothing. While I was learning the basics this seemed like a very good app. I was about to write a great review about it. Around the first song I realized I was playing the write note but it said I was wrong. Sometimes I was but rarely. The times I was wrong I was around a fret off. Well according to the app I was four strings off. If you play guitar you know how diffract Hi E and low E sound so I don’t know how the app mixed those two up. So every time you finish a song it gives you a ad for the premium version of this game. It’s fine to advertise on your app but after every single thing you do is far past the breaking point! You also get only 10 minutes without premium! Imagine a guitar instructor comes to your house only for ten minutes a day. And like 24 hour day not just comes at 8 on day and 5 on the other. No it’s either 24 hours or more! Remember this is just constructive criticism. Please don’t get offended by this. Here is some advice to make the app better. First only focus on one instrument. You do a mediocre job on around 6 instruments. If you just teach one instrument then it’s mediocre X 6 which would make an amazing emphasis on amazing app so please follow my advice and again this is just constructive criticism so please don’t get offended😊
Free version is a good learning tool
by Camdell on 2018/06/10 15:51
The free version is a good learning tool with plenty of versatility to try different instruments or styles. You do have to put up with an ad every few minutes and there’s a limit to the amount of time you can use in one day, but for beginning or casual players it’s sufficient. The paid version, however, feels like a scam. The monthly version for $20 limits you to one instrument for ad free, unlimited playing. I paid for piano for my daughter and then she got interested in the ukulele =money wasted. The annual version allows you to switch between instruments theoretically, but only if you are willing to cough up $120 up front. Worse: it’s super easy to sign up for a subscription and impossible to cancel. Signing up happens with a click of a button on the app. However, to cancel one has to sign in to iTunes and cancel the subscription. However, after attempting to do this multiple times, Yousician is still trying to charge my debit card every day. The only reason for the 3 stars is the free version. The paid version gets 1 or less! Update: customer service assured me that account had been cancelled; however, a new gift card entered in iTunes was immediately charged. It appears that we paid $20 for the ‘privilege’ of canceling the service. Funds are not refunded when you cancel. This is completely unethical business practice. Too bad because the app concept is good.
Makes learning fun!
by TARDISKATE on 2017/12/09 22:31
I got my first ukulele while on a cruise to Hawaii. They had fun classes onboard taught by a Hawaiian ambassador. He was such a neat fun guy and had me loving the ukulele. When I got home I wanted to learn more and found this app. This app is fun, easy to understand and has kept me loving my uke. I play daily at least 30 mins using this app. My dad uses it as well with his uke. It’s fun to see how we are progressing on our playing skills. I like how you can practice a song and slow down the tempo. I tend to start at 75% speed to kinda learn the song, cords or fretting. Then I move up in increments of 10% until I feel ready to preform the song in the actual lesson. One thing I’d suggest when using the app. Use earbuds. Sometimes if you have the app too loud it has issues hearing your instrument, if you are a soft player. Earbuds or the like, are perfect as you can clearly hear the lesson and your instrument. As for the price for premium... I think it’s very reasonable. Lessons taught in person would cost much more. Plus this app offers lessons for guitar, bass, ukulele and piano! A great bang for your buck, I’d say. Long story short, if you want to learn to play... I highly recommend this fun app.
Good just a few problems
by Camilerz on 2019/07/16 18:40
This app in general is so good. There’s only a few little problems. When I play piano on this app, it tests me on notes and sometimes the microphone doesn’t work and I get really annoyed. And the other problem is the premium. I really want to get the premium but it’s 160 dollars per year (around there) and some people just can’t afford that. I know you’re trying to get money and all but I think for some people it’s too much and you should lower the price or have another choice for each week or month. If you don’t have premium, you can only practice 10 minutes each day (at least for piano).Other than those problems, it’s a really fun app. Update: okay it’s been a while and the microphone works better now but there’s one major MAJOR problem. It deleted all my progress! I’m restarting everything and I’m really annoyed. I didn’t sign out of my account or anything and it deleted my progress. I might be generous or not for giving you 3 stars. Update again: okay thank you so much for replying back to me it means a lot. I knew about the subscriptions monthly and yearly which I didn’t know you could cancel the monthly so thank you. And thank you for the new content. I will definitely change my rating.
So good it’s upsetting
by f̤̮o̤̮n̤̮t̤̮ɩơ۷ɛཞ on 2020/03/18 17:50
Alright. This app is very good. It really does help you learn and become a better musician. So why did I rate this app 4 stars? I rated it a four because it’s only good for awhile. The first couple lessons are amazing bc you learn quickly and you through them quickly letting you get more lessons in your ten minute lesson times. (If you don’t have premium.) They kinda scam you a little bit. •They make the lessons easier at first •then they make them harder •then you can’t get through as many in the ten minute period •then you feel like you have to get sucked into the premium plan. But you don’t want too bc it costs a lot. It’s a really frustrating endless cycle. Regular guitar lessons can be stressful and cost more than what the premium plan would cost you. But the premium plan still adds up. But then you do another lesson and it seems like they’re just trying to challenge you because then you take a “skill test”. So what I’m saying is after awhile when the lessons get hard enough, they might not give you enough time to get through one lesson, and it makes you want to get premium. Which I understand it’s a marketing thing thats obviously working. So give your marketing person a raise, and lower your premium costs. Because this app is really good.
Blessed With This App
by Lalaallaly on 2018/01/17 03:31
We all know lessons can be expensive in reality. Ranging from as little as $20 to $60 PER lesson, and that’s just for beginners. So how does a blossoming musician learn without being robbed of their money and having to GO TO the lesson, and only able to practice what the trainers assign or what you can find online. To me, that doesn’t sound very convenient. The answer is simple- YOUSICIAN! They walk you through everything, giving you personalized lessons and feedback. There’s such a wide variety of songs, you can almost always find what you’re looking for! I play the guitar, and for as little as $9.99 a month, I’m able to work around my own schedule, not someone else’s to be able to learn the guitar more effectively. I can even tell the app how much time I have for the lesson, and they work with that. Again, this is an inexpensive, convenient, efficient, and effective way to learn your dream instrument. This app works for the busiest people to the people who want to spend all their time learning, and 1 lesson per week isnt cutting it. Don’t spend over a hundred dollars a month on lessons, when you have Yousician right in front of you! 👌🏻Yousician is a blessing!!!
Pretty Great! 4.5 for me
by 6453936299:76737:$ on 2020/07/10 23:11
Guitar has proved to be a lot harder than any instrument I’ve tried so far, so it was really neccessary for me to have a game plan and track to follow. I love the certificates that you can opt to email to yourself, its super cute and makes you feel real proud. I also love how it has lessons on understanding the music and notes itself. I think tgats often overlooked but very important. I would 100% reccomend the pro version if you can, it makes learning a lot more enjoyable without annoying ads and playing original songs ratger than yousician ones. The only complaints i have is that I think that we should be able to skip certain certain lessons or songs. Some are just too hard :/ and I’d rather be able to keep practicing other skills then come back to this. Another complaint I have, I think that it’d make the app even better if you had the chords and notes to more popular songs that we could choose to play similar to the challenges or guitar tabs. Also it would be amazing if we had song library where we can practice our favorite songs we’ve played throughout the lessons. But overall its a pretty great app.
life changer.... ❤️ ✨
by RainbowKitty1000000 on 2020/10/19 18:53
I got this app yesterday and it’s already changing my life. I’m starting to understand singing a lot better. This also gives lessons for other instruments, too, so i’m assuming that the lessons for learning the instruments are just as amazing as the singing lessons. Why do people spend all this money for other singing lessons when they can just get Yousician for free? I have a dream of becoming a singer when I grow up (I’m 10 years old so), and this is really helping me get on track. I was very lost at singing and after a few lessons in this app I feel more secure with singing. They include songs, workouts, and missions & lessons in this app and it’s amazing! They also included plenty of details for singing. I only have like 2 or 3 lessons done, I know, I’ve done barely any but I feel like this app is super good. There’s only one thing about this app that I kind of don’t like but I do understand why they did it. My complaint is how most of the songs they have to offer are for Premium+. I understand that they need money but still. 🤗 Anyway I love this app PLEASE DOWNLOAD!! 😌
Great app but...
by GodsGirl618 on 2018/05/19 13:08
Yousician has been an awesome app. Ive been using the app to learn both guitar and ukulele the past few weeks and have progressed fairly quickly, but not without some frustrations. Frequently the app has trouble distinguishing me from its own background track, and will fail me on a song that I am playing correctly. This forces me to go back and play the song again, usually an extra 3 or 4 times, before it will pick up enough of my playing to allow me to move on with the lesson. I also wish it would teach you a few more songs that I could play outside of the app. I have gotten through several levels on both instruments and have not really learned any songs on either. Playing along with the music during the lesson works well enough, but when you’re done with your lesson the app pretty much locks down everything, including the songs you’ve already unlocked, unless you have premium. This is new since the update, and I wish it would go back! I understand not being able to access new content outside your allotted 10/15 minutes without paying, but without being able to practice what you’ve already started working on, it really slows down progress.
Premium is a bit shady
by Nate 4321 on 2018/08/30 06:28
I purchased the premium for ukulele version of this app for about $120 for the year. It’s by far the most money I’ve ever spent on an app, but it’s cheaper and more convenient than scheduled lessons so I thought why not. I feel like I’ve learned a lot from the app but recently felt cheated when in my lesson popped up a song, Brown Eyed Girl, which I was excited about because many of the songs are a bit obscure they give you to play and I knew this song. But it was just an ad for their Super Duper Premium, or whatever they call it. I don’t believe this was offered when I originally subscribed and I was under the impression I had unlimited access; it’s definitely a bit shady to change terms after a purchase has been made; it boils down to they want another $60. This begging for more money leaves me feeling cheated. I thought I was paying for ad free and yet... That said, my kids each have free accounts and get the same songs I do, but can only do a ten minute lesson instead of the unlimited time I get. That time is perfect for them. It’s a very fun app and I do feel like I’ve learned a lot, but unfortunately I still do feel a bit cheated by Yousician and probably won’t renew their premium service.
Good tool for practice
by Bags4028 on 2019/01/04 05:31
I’m already a working musician (rhythm guitar and bass in a couple of bands), so I came to Yousician to work specifically on lead guitar skills it’s been easy to neglect. On that, it has delivered; I’m a more confident soloist than I was a year ago, with more techniques in my repertoire. This wasn’t a goal, but I’m also more comfortable playing against a click track. Bonus! A few quibbles: The app doesn’t seem to judge the quality of notes—I’ve gotten a “Perfect” for clams that I would never accept in a recording session. Some of the fingerings seem a little off, more commonly in the assigned finger than in the fret/string. I’ve occasionally gotten stuck in what feels like an endless practice loop of the same song: I think I’m done with it, and then it’s there the next time I open the app, and it must be passed before I can move on to anything else. And the synthy-ness of the arrangements can be a little annoying (though it’s probably a necessary evil to accommodate the tempo shifts). Still, this does what it says it does, and the structure really does make you practice more. I’m not sure I would make this (or any app) my only approach to learning an instrument, but it’s a great supplement.
Almost good.
by Rbally10 on 2018/12/12 21:30
What the app does well, it does well. Teaching the basics to beginners, proper technique and the like. However at the door of all of that, when you’re getting into playing the songs that are available, it really loses its shine. The song list is extremely basic, I constantly find myself listening and filling in tons of blank spaces. Single note trains isn’t fun or challenging for a bass player and leads me outright frustration. Some of the best known bassists aren’t even on the playlists, aside from rhcp, and some classic players from the ages. The problem with this is while it structures the fundamentals for bass, it doesn’t teach or challenge a player into becoming an outstanding bassist that really stands out on stage. Seeing as I paid the full 180 dollars for the year subscription, I feel I have grounds to complain about this. I also recommend, if the developers even read this, to include an option to disable vocals. The singers are very jarring to listen to. A playlist of songs that are incrementally more challenging and use unorthodox Basslines is something I hope to see in the future; as it stands for bass the song choices are incredibly monotonous. I can only speak for the bass side of things.
This is the best!

OMG I have wanted to play guitar for 2 years now and now I can actually play it! I have had this app for 3 days and it has literally changed my life in so many ways and all of them are good ways! It can teach you in a short amount of time I have already done 6 exercises and I think I’m ready to join a competition please get this app it is amazing and I give it 5 stars no duh! I love this app and feel like it’s perfect for anyone who needs to either let the music hold your sad and depressing feelings (me) and also people who want to start a hobbie or career I feel like the people who made this picked the right one to make, they could have chose a lot of other things but they chose music the thing that lifts people up and gives them hope when they are down music is apart of us and we wouldn’t be able to be kind and amazing people we are today without it so get Yousician the best music teacher you’ll ever have! And remember music will guid you through your way to happiness so the shorter you download it the better you will feel. Music is love.
Great Idea, Terrible Platform
by Electromagnet83 on 2018/06/29 21:52
I’m so frustrated with this program right now. I bought it because I like it but it’s extremely difficult to get the program to read all of your notes. I’m a 20 year guitar veteran who is going through everything to try and get all the gold stars before I advanced to the higher stuff. I first started out using my phone but the sound coming out of the phone conflicted with the sound going in the phone and cost a bunch of problems. So I started using headphones. This works great when you’re playing bass, there are rarely issues. But when playing guitar I’ve had to go as far as using a USB interface on my computer plugging the guitar directly into it and using the amp sounds within the program. However it regularly grinds to a halt like the audio engine can’t support it, even though I’m running it on a really good system that I custom built. There’s one particular exercise were in a matter how many times I hit this one particular low email it won’t register it. A succession of two emails and it just won’t register the second one like two out of three times. Making it impossible for me to get gold stars and making me very frustrated. I’m so mad at this program right now
Total Garbage
by WorkBoat7 on 2019/07/28 08:10
This app is ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR BEGINNERS. It’s a 110% waste of you money. It a great concept but, it doesn’t work. When your playing it doesn’t pick up the notes consistently or evenly enough. Sometimes it will register a note in a song and other times it will not. Sometimes it will tell you, you are early or late playing a note. Sometimes you play the same note right on Time an it will register it as being wrong. So if your a beginner on an intermediate player it hard to get good feedback on what’s really going on in terms of if you doing things right or wrong. Instead of adding more songs what they need to do fix the basics. Creating software that is dead on accurate in terms of registering every note correctly. I paid for the basic subscription and I totally regret it. I will definitely cancel it before it renews again. If they ever bother to fix this issue, then it will be just what they claim it to be the “the best way to learn guitar”. As it stands no this app is TOTAL GARBAGE. If you are a beginner it will only hold you back long term.
The reason I cancelled
by UnaZarzaEnLlamas on 2020/08/23 17:28
I believe this app has good intention for beginners. I will tell you that videos and tutorials have good structure and take you through the right path of consistency to learn to play an instrument accurately. To learn to play an instrument is key to express yourself day in and day out through music. So, about structure, and since this a good tool to practice, I give you, guys, a thumbs-up. However... the reason I have rated this app 4-star is because it truly doesn’t make me feel like I progress. The difficulty level is questionable. There are times the app doesn’t recognize the notes I’m playing, and some songs seem to get a bit difficult to play for mere beginners, which makes me feel frustrated and stuck on the same songs for days of practice (even if you were to play that song for an intensive 30 min lesson). So no, I don’t think this app is wack, or a waste of money, don’t get me wrong. No hard feelings. But I don’t think it’s intended for beginners. I look forward to solidify my knowledge and some basics first before coming back. Later on, I would definitely give you guys a second try.
What once was a great app is now ruined

I’ve virtually never written a review in my life but I felt compelled to in this situation considering how much I used to love this app. I downloaded Yousician over a year ago and was initially blown away. I used to take guitar lessons when I was much younger and the app made it so easy to pick it back up again. Lessons used to be guided with videos and your progression in technique was mapped out in a diagram that outlined what had been completed and what was yet to come. There were several other competitor apps that I considered but what really set Yousician apart was the community of shared and user created content. With recent updates to the app they’ve removed user created content wiping out 90% of their artist and song catalogue. (For those of you who don’t understand the significance of this, user created content enabled you to find virtually any song you were looking for.) After reading that “popular” songs were reserved for premium+ subscribers I upgraded only to be disappointed, again, at the lack of content. For any new users reading who have signed up since July/August, this app used to offer so much more without having to trick people into paying more for less. And what an absolute shame, it really used to be great.
Singing great, guitar tuning terrible
by Charger_Law on 2020/07/16 18:31
I’ve been using this app for a while now for my singing, and it’s been great, but a bit ago I tried to guitar lessons on it, and the part that helped you tune the guitar was absolute trash. It either said I was to high or too low, never in the middle. It also would say that I needed to make it lower, so I would try, and I would barely tune, because at this point it was so tight it was almost impossible to make tighter, and then it said I was way to low and needed to make it higher, once again, I just barely turned the thing to tune it, and it was saying it need to be lower. It also, would stay in the middle between perfect and way to high, and would never move, except for when that one part I just mentioned would happen. I bet even if I went to a professional tuner it would say it’s to high or to low. Please, please fix this. If it wasn’t for that, then this would probably be 5 star review. Well, 5 star if that wouldn’t happen, and you didn’t have to install an entirely different app for piano. Also, please make the daily lesson time longer, it is WAY too short. Make the limit 30 minutes to 1 hour.
The best way to learn at your pace
by Onyx Lotus on 2021/01/03 00:16
I’ve wanted to learn the guitar for pretty much all of my adult life. I’ve tried multiple methods with no success. Yousician starts from the very beginning where I needed to, and does not assume anything. I’m not good. I have to run through the practices multiple times and slow it way down, and set it to automatically speed up as I improve. I’ve committed to practicing every day - a time I call ‘my daily frustration’. Which is what this is made for! People who can’t just pick up an instrument and suddenly know how to play it. People who maybe don’t have that ‘artistic’ brain and need things broken down, and what to practice, step-by-step to build upon. Just follow the bouncing ball. Did this app suddenly endow me with amazing talent? No. Is it helping me to work through my frustration and learn something that is difficult for me? Heck yes. Highly recommend for anyone who has almost given up because it’s not as easy for you as it seems to be for everyone else.
Annoying bug keeps me from playing
by K4rm4 Ki115 on 2018/10/17 02:31
When I first got yousician, I thought it was an amazing app and I learned how to play real fast, well in my perspective at least. Anyhow, I like being on call with people and I used to stay on call while playing in yousician, but one day an update stopped that. Basically now, anytime I try selecting a song or tuning my guitar, it says “please select an audio output” so I pick one of the following, after that it tells me that it failed. I’ve tried most of everything I could. In the end, im not able to use the app when on call, I have to end the call to play and I don’t like that. Other than this, everything is fair and amazing. I just can’t use the app as much and no longer plan on buying premium, why would I if I don’t use the app often. If I find a way around this, if it fixes, or something that allows me to use the app while on a call, I’ll gladly change my review. (Edit after response) -already contacted support after putting up this review, sadly enough after they looked into it, they said the mic won’t work with the call on, and they recommended me use the app after I’m off call... I wouldn’t be here if it was just as simple as me ending the call.
Great app! Few minor tweaks
by gogaton on 2018/11/25 21:56
There seems to be some issue with logging in when starting up. I kept getting logged out and a couple times had to restart all progress from scratch because it didn’t save onto my account for some reason. Also, when learning the guitar, the “chord checker” trainings are WAY too strict in my opinion. One string will be only slightly not ringing out, but otherwise the chord sounds good and it won’t let me move on. That level of strictness is good for if I’m supposed to play x number of chords exactly right to move on. But when it requires a lot of chords to be played in a short amount of time and it will only accept them if each one is absolutely entirely technically perfect it’s way too difficult for a beginner. I keep getting stuck on those lessons for hours and not able to get past which is super frustrating. I know for an advanced player changing chords quickly and accurately is crucial. But as a beginner I just want confirmation that I’m doing it at lost almost totally right so I can keep learning, then I can go back and fine tune and perfect.
Kind of annoying
by iTunes essary on 2021/01/12 16:24
I got this app a few days ago, which probably isn’t enough time to have an opinion on this app, but I’m impatient so... yeah the subscription annoys me a lot because I just want to play the guitar since my family doesn’t really think I can do it. They obviously wouldn’t pay for a subscription for me either. So I only would get one lesson a day. Which really frustrates me because sometimes I get super bored and playing the guitar is really the only thing to do. It also reads my notes and chords wrong. I play on the first fret, (like I’m supposed to) and it marks it red. It also frustrates me that they don’t give you that much motivation to play if you don’t have the subscription. It’s like “if you don’t hand over your wallet then you don’t get to play the guitar.” And it’s very annoying. Also, the Yousician “classic” songs aren’t very like able and they don’t have much variety. There’s country and that’s about it, because you have to pay money to listen and play actual good songs of course (I know it’s kind of petty of me lol) ok well that is my honest review of the free version of this app, thanks for your time!

Great app, having a great time with it and learning a lot. My only real negative feedback is that the note detection with an acoustic guitar can be a little off sometimes. It sometimes registers notes that you didn’t play, but even worse is when it doesn’t hear notes that you _did_ play. It does this seemingly at random, and it makes it really obnoxious when you’re trying to perfect a song. It also frequently tells me to “plug in if you’re using an electric guitar”. I’m playing in a quiet room directly next to my iPad’s microphone so it’s not like I’m far away or playing quietly. The way it senses chords can be obnoxious also. I sometimes screw up a C and get some sour or dead notes in there, but it will register them as perfectly played. However, it _loves_ to tell me I have dead notes on Am even if I don’t. Again, when you’re playing the same some for the 4th or 5th time, trying to perfect it, and you _do_ play it perfectly and it _still_ says you missed, it’s enough to make you want to smash your guitar sometimes.
Amazing app! Just a small suggestion...
by TheVoodoolover on 2020/03/30 21:12
This app is truly amazing! There is I think five different instruments you can choose from, and you can do all at once if you’d like. There is singing, guitar, piano, bass, and ukulele. I use singing and guitar and piano. They all work extremely well, and after a couple days of practice I am already getting better! And I did not get the premium. My cousin did though and she is WAY better at the guitar now! One thing I do suggest for the guitar is you use headphones because it picks up other sounds easily sometimes. There is something that is kinda annoying. I was going to do the monthly premium thing, but it every month. It’d be great if there was something I could do to buy it for only one month. I just want to pay for a single month because I do t have enough money for every month all the time. But it isn’t a big deal because I still am learning at a very fast rate! Highly recommend!!!
Don’t put a price on knowledge
by snarflet on 2020/01/25 00:23
I love this app I just started playing acoustic guitar and I have learned a lot but there is one problem you don’t get lessons easy time you want there’s a certain amount of lessons you can do in a day and that is really annoying cause some people don’t want to spend $27 dollars a month to learn how to play an instrument education should be free because you can’t put a price on knowledge and you guys are really being unfair to the people who don’t spend money on apps like me and I really want to learn how to play this instrument but you guys are giving me the restriction of learning. Fix this please this is something that other people would agree on. And maybe if you don’t stop doing this I have an idea that might make people happy cut your price in half or maybe more and then people would do that because people hate things that cost a lot of money. And they might tell their friends and family about this app. Please do this not just for me but for other people who would agree with me.
Good except for one thing
by Slopok1 on 2019/06/24 21:11
I have been using this app for a little while now and I’ve been loving it! I enjoy how the songs aren’t too fast for beginners and you can try them over and over again. I also like practice mode, where you can slow down how fast the song goes so you can work your way up to the normal speed. The only reason I’m rating this 4 stars is because almost every time I go to start a song this message pops up with the option to try out the 7 day free trial. I understand that Yousician wants to get as many people to try or buy the Premium stuff, but I don’t want to be shown the offer 3 times during my free lesson time, and it takes away from my time as well. Point being, I’m tired of seeing the pop up message and I just want to get to my song. This happens every single day I practice. I don’t need to be shown something over and over again. The only message I will accept is the one that lets you know when you free lesson time is up, but the others are unacceptable. Thank you.
Tab
by Dan50243 on 2017/10/30 06:39
So I downloaded this because I'm new to the ukulele (like 5 days new). I'd had pretty good practice before downloading this (I knew how to read tab and was pretty good at quickly moving between chords) the only thing that bothers me about this is when I have to play. While the bouncy ball/track aesthetic seems like a fun way to learn, to me it's just confusing and causes me to lose track of what string the ball is going to bounce on vs. where my finger is. Is there a way to convert tests/practices to regular tab rather than a track? If not please add that in. Other than that, this has been extensively helpful. *Update* I played around with it and found something similar to what's mentioned above. But not enough. It would be much more helpful if the track at least ran vertically instead of horizontally. What would be most helpful is a page showing the individual tabs with a mini track going through the them rather than laying them on a track. I imagine that'd be a hell of a lot cheaper to animate than what you guys got now.
Amazing! But one huge problem.
by tapia.angel13 on 2018/11/07 05:36
I’m willing to change this to a 5 if this gets fixed. The way it teaches is great! It pretty much makes learning music into a fun game. I was using it when I first started, it’s been 6 years and I’m starting to use it again to refine my skills. What really irritates me, are the videos. It will play for 2 seconds, until it starts stuttering and cutting out. Then I stop. Rewind. Does it over and over again. I’ve tried getting on and off different wifis, it’s not my connection. It’s always the same. I’m unable to use the videos because they’re so frustrating to try and get to speed without stopping. It gets to a point where I’m unable to actually learn anything from the videos because it won’t go on for more than 2 seconds at a time. If this gets fixed, I’d be more than pleased. But I’m super visual and I really enjoy having videos to go on top of the practices. I’m worried for when I get to the level where I actually am in real life, and to where I’m actually going to have to start learning things I don’t already know on the program.
One of the best apps I’ve ever used
by Wombat3456 on 2018/09/14 04:23
I rediscovered my love for playing guitar through this app. Before, I was in a rut from not knowing what to play or do when I sat down to practice. Since using yousician however, I haven’t had this problem. It gives me plenty to work on every day, for as much as I want. Plus, with the love feedback and data it tracks, I’m able to see my progress (I’d love to see more analytics in future releases). The songs are varied, unique, and provide great foundation for playing more advanced songs you actually care about. My absolute favorite feature is the practice mode. You can slow down the tempo of anything you’re working on, to literally any speed, then yousician will automatically increase or decrease the tempo based on how well you perform. This app is well worth the money I paid for it. Stick with it, and you’ll get great returns on your investment (fun, guitar skills, and anything else that comes from playing).
10 minutes is buggy and frustrating
by 91blckgt on 2020/12/14 23:16
In order to actually learn an instrument, there is an initial novice hump where confidence is low. This application shouldn’t offer a free version because it’s demotivating and frustrating. Even while trying to sample the 10 minute timer, it interrupts after every step in a lesson and click to present the premium sales ad, which must be viewed for a mandatory 20 seconds. You end up with ~6 minutes of the 10 free per day available to actually review the material. And even then on some days it doesn’t recognize that 10 minutes have reset. I just opened it, the main screen showed 0/10 used, and then went to resume a lesson I didn’t finish yesterday (again, because timer ran out) and it said I was out of time, and it jumped to 10/10 again. I’ve had several days where this has occurred. I actually considered picking up the app during the half off sale at Black Friday, and right now willing to wait for another half off. The app itself, sans the constant used car level sales nagging, is pretty good, but I haven’t seen enough to form an opinion because it locks me into the constant sales mode.
Too soon to tell
by Antilabel13 on 2019/08/11 13:18
So far it’s been fun, free version is super basic so it’s way to early to tell if it’s any good for learning songs or improving certain higher-level skills. But over all it’s like playing guitar hero with an actual guitar which makes practicing fun and gratifying. However it’s quite expensive for the paid version which is a bit of a turn off. If the price could be a little lower say $100 or $125 for a year. That would be more reasonable to me. Update: developer responded to my review with some generic message stating there is both yearly and monthly membership options the yearly requiring a commitment and the monthly being able to be cancelled anytime. Felt this response was unneeded as I’m not an idiot and could see that for myself and it doesn’t address the issue I had with the price. So thanks for the response I guess? Makes me question what level of customer service one could expect from this company; it certainly didn’t give me any more confidence in purchasing a membership on the platform.
Worth The Price of Admission to the World of Musicians
by MrGetz on 2018/03/20 15:24
Started learning the guitar (classical) through Yousician four weeks ago & have progressed faster than I thought possible... Serious about learning the guitar? Want well thought-out, fun, interesting, motivating, intelligent, and logically presented lessons & information designed for individual pacing? Looked into guitar lessons but don’t have the flexibility to commit to a regular time and place on a weekly basis? Have you calculated the cost of annual guitar lessons with a professional teacher? Yousician has earned Apple’s Editors’ Choice and my recommendation because it epitomizes the power of an App: the power to teach effectively & the power to learn efficiently, entertainingly & conveniently. ...Some days I practice for 10 minutes & others I practice for over an hour. Yousician allows you to cater your lessons to your schedule. Yes, for an app it initially seems to have a high price but the annual subscription equates to less than 4 one hour lessons with a good professional guitar teacher & you can learn at the pace your sore fingertips allow. Whether I practice for 10 minutes or an hour, Yousician has proven to represent a great investment towards reaching my guitar playing goals. I also plan to Yousician some piano skills soon. Yousician: well worth the price of admission to join the world of musicians. Not affiliated with the creators — just an avid and appreciative Youser;-)
The Best Teacher
by Espressoft on 2020/04/25 03:16
I always loved the guitar but after the first time I took a class for it in the 6th grade, I thought I would never be able to play it. Yousician changed that for me. My girlfriend recommended it to me when she was taking piano lessons from the app. It does more than just make you watch video tutorials. The app helps tune your guitar by listening to you strum each string, and it starts out with easy videos and interactive strumming techniques that listen to you while you play so you know you’re doing it right. It’s like you have a REAL instructor there with you. I just got the premium, and I have to say, playing to songs that you know makes the experience that much more enjoyable. After you learn the basics, you can decide what kind of experience you want to learn which I thought was very cool. There’s lessons for those who want to just rock out solo, those who want to play as more of a rhythmic background, and those who simply love music theory and reading music. Best part about it, YOU CAN DO ALL THREE! I know $200 a year these days sounds pricey, but the cost of guitar lessons are usually much MUCH more. You’re definitely getting your money’s worth. Get the free trial and see for yourself !!!! Take it from someone who thought at the age of 22 that they’ll NEVER be decent at the guitar and doesn’t have an instrumental bone in their body.
This app is amazing, with room to improve
by Batcat43 on 2018/10/12 15:14
I'm an absolute music beginner and I have been using Yousician for guitar for about a month. I live the app and feel like I'm making real progress. Practice mode is very helpful for slowing down the tempo, honing in on the trickiest parts of a song, and repetition. The lessons are well-designed and the feedback is genuinely motivating. Hearing the Aussie accented "instructor" compliment me on my performance is surprisingly uplifting. A couple areas for potential improvement: first, I'd love to be able to print out the guitar tabs so I could practice offline and get used to reading tabulature in non-electronic format. Second, I wish I could have another family on my account, but with separate profiles so we could both be learning at our own pace, even if it required a small upcharge. And hopefully Yousician will continue to be able to license more and more well known songs to add to the fun.
Good idea, but not executed properly.
by cuckoofish03 on 2017/09/30 19:57
This app is such a great idea, and I’m so glad it’s mostly free, but there’s a huge difference between the lesson and the test. How frustrating is it when you know the material and do well at playing it and then you take the test and it’s completely different and much more complicated? It’s very frustrating. That’s what Yousician does. The lessons will give you a few chords to play and they’ll slow down the song for you when you are tested at the end of the lesson, but when a skills test comes up, there’s no practice, slowing it down, pausing it, or warning as to what you will have to play. Usually these are hard and quite frankly frustrating tests that (even though they only use the things you learned) go much faster than you’re used to. Taking one of these tests usually will have you extremely frustrated or maybe in tears. Another problem: for some reason, every time I use the app, it doesn’t automatically use my iPhone microphone to pick up sounds, so when I forget to turn it on, it fails me when I play at all because it won’t pick up noise. Please fix this; it’s insanely frustrating. They also don’t teach piano chords the easier way, and even though I knew how to play chords already, since I needed to unlock newer lessons, I had to relearn them in a strange and much harder way on Yousician. Once again, it’s such a great idea and has been pretty helpful in learning piano, but there are some big problems in the way of success.
Super helpful but incomplete.
by Alliecat03 on 2019/06/02 16:51
I decided to pick up a yousician subscription again to learn bass over the summer because I had a really good experience when I used it to learn the ukulele. It’s really helped with my technique, speed, and motivation, and I like that I can practice by myself and for as long as I want. It also has helped me learn some basic music theory that is helpful for the bass. However, coming back, it seems like the interface is a little more empty- I couldn’t find the community/fan made songs anymore? The song choices are kind of basic and lacking. I was hoping to learn some green day bass lines with yousician but it seems there is none, I assume because of copyright and ownership stuff, but it would be nice to bring back the community made/make your own tab thing. Not a big deal since you can find tabs all over the internet, but it’s helpful to use yousician since it gives real time feedback and you can slow it down to practice.
Does some things well....
by Chris1960! on 2019/03/02 14:53
It definitely teaches you to find chords and notes without looking at the fretboard because you have to follow the bouncing ball. However, I am gold through level 5 and wouldn't say I can play guitar. The knowledge path teaches you essential but very basic music theory. In the lead path it randomly throws scales at you without much explanation. The video game like play is good and bad. The good is that it gives you a feeling that you are progressing and you are but you can’t rely on it alone to teach you. It's more like harder and harder exercises so you have to supplement it with some other type of learning. It's not perfect in hearing what you are playing which can be frustrating. One last thing: transcribe and learn some songs and try to play them without following the ball. This will improve your timing and simulate real world playing. All in all it's one of the best apps I've tried but mix it up with something else like GuitarTricks.

Ok.....
by Ok..... but a few errors on 2021/04/05 02:19
This app is great and I really like how the lyrics are and the little ball to tell you how high/low you are singing.

Gotta Love this app!! I’ve been trying to learn how to play my guitar for a few years off and on with no good results. Even following YouTube videos for beginners and all.

But most songs you can’t play without premium+. Other then that great app! It is teaching me so much so fast!

All you to is pay pay pay for nothing because it does not help you reach a higher level at the end I complete a lot and then it turned off and said you have to pay to keep going.
The first matter is critical — I’m sure the new content and videos are great and can be incorporated into the three distinct learning paths for those who prefer using that interface method.

by herp derp mobile dev on 2021/03/24 05:28

Cool app

It’s kind of hard. I try and try. But I found out I was doing it rong Yousician helps me out very well but my Guitar lo E and A the first note doesn’t work I think I need a new guitar. Anyway grate app love it. Enjoy.

This happens EVRY DAY
It’s ok👎👍

by got me bad on 2021/03/15 07:52
Everything is still there, just hard to find. I liked and bought the previous version so this is a shocker that they decided to change the entire layout. The goal once you purchase is stay after you until you upgrade to premium.

Showsee
by Showsee1 on 2021/03/11 18:50
I like the app, I think that’s it has a lot of value However it’s geared towards developing a complete guitar player and that’s great, but I just want to learn to strum and I wish that there were lessons just based on that.

New update stinks. All lessons levels being open is great. But the horizontal scrolling is horrible!! It was nice to see the overview lesson tree style. Also when is bass gonna get more lessons added? There’s so many different aspects to bass playing that isn’t covered.
I hate the new update

Horrible ukulele
by N00BTUB3 on 2021/02/24 22:37
Says I’m in the wrong note which I’m not and have tuned and tuned again but still says it’s wrong and I have even tried strumming every string but still won’t work don’t recommend for ukulele players
Way too expensive and terrible interface

The apps new interface is terrible. They charge WAYYYY too much. The music is garbage in the learning paths.

Average
by Big Human Tripod on 2021/02/22 16:55
This App is average.

Why doesn’t this app have any new songs!!!?

Good app but why aren’t there any new songs from 2020 and 2021? Also needs better sound reading system
Pretty Good
by fitzbeau on 2021/02/19 01:25
Overall, this is an amazing app, but one thing I don’t really enjoy is that I’m paying lots of money per month for non copyrighted covers instead of the real songs. And I get the copyright thing, and it’s not that the covers are bad, I just enjoy playing the original song.

Yousician helped me learn not only guitar, but piano too. I think that if you are looking for a good place to virtually learn to play music at a good price. Then this is the place.
Okay I guess.

It is good at first, but after that, it just got worse and worse.

What once was a great app is now ruined
by dariusmr on 2018/12/26 03:06
I’ve virtually never written a review in my life but I felt compelled to in this situation considering how much I used to love this app.
Acoustic guitar is kind of wonky
by Hater hater hater 71626272 on 2020/09/17 12:53
Great app, having a great time with it and learning a lot.
