So dope!

I’m not a professional by any means. darkroom definitely expanded photography skill! #nextlevel
False advertising
by JPO72 on 2021/05/10 01:18
Not free. Shows up in the app list with “Free” filter.
So easy
by Batsatt on 2021/05/07 17:27
So easy to choose, frame and adjust... then upload. I love it!!
The BEST
by hotsizzle213 on 2021/05/03 23:47
I use an Android as my daily device, but I refuse to edit on there. I always come to Darkroom for the goods. Has not let me down.
Export error
by DAJANK on 2021/04/27 03:40
Love the app until I go to export and get a fatal error (popup) no matter which export options.
Missing one thing
by Photoghoul on 2021/04/25 22:07
Very good editor. Good controls and features. If they added the ability to create a collage, at least of 2 photos together, it’d be perfect.
Thank you Darkroom for a one time buy option!
by No longer worth downloading on 2021/04/25 14:59
Bought the entire App on a full purchase and the developers are doing a great job. All I could ask for would be a brush function to apply effects to selected areas. Such a major update I think would deserve a extra purchase and I would gladly pay more for a non subscription buy. Keep up the good work people!
Privacy invasion
by melekatapom on 2021/04/23 14:50
Won’t work if I don’t grant access to all photos. But I just want to edit a handful. Fix your software or get lost.
So good yet so far
by Mariosbud on 2021/04/22 04:30
I so need just a simple brush tool for this to be my go to replacement but as it stands unfortunately I cannot recommend for any serious photographers. I really don’t want to keep paying adobe and want to support small time developers but I seriously can’t develop photos with my workflow with this app until we get some finer control.
Full of options
by Don'tWantToType on 2021/04/20 03:01
Some nice filters and the app has full of valuable features. They give you enough free options to keep your interest and let you test the paid features before you decide to purchase. No annoying ads is a plus. It’s not easy to commit these days as you don’t know how things will turn out but it’s one of the few apps that I haven’t deleted after running into something unbearable. I really like some of the film like filters. I hope there will be more refinement in that area based on some professional coloring techniques to get a really pro look to photos and videos. It can be a challenge to get good color in your still and moving images. This app’s filters don’t feel cheap. Only thing that bugs me now is you can edit a slow motion video. It becomes normal speed. I don’t know if can be slowed back down after exported but it’s difficult to work on something meant to be viewed slowly while it’s moving rapidly. Otherwise I’d say keep up the good work! It’s beautiful app full of functional features and booming with more potential. For now the only other apps in my personal use that compete with this app are the photoshop apps, even though they can also do layers. For video so far I still rely on my desktop software even though I believe mobile edit is the future. Would be amazing if this app could also animate still photos or bond with video but that’s probably asking too much.
Not working with M1 mac
by RMOLLAH on 2021/04/16 17:25
Does not work with my M1 mac
Love this app!
by cynthug on 2021/04/15 17:12
Honestly I'm a beginner at editing but Darkroom makes it so easy! I love that I can save my settings as a filter and reuse it on other pictures. It's easy to navigate and save my files onto my computer. Will definitely continue using this until I get better. I would like to see an object removal option but I use a separate app for that. This is perfect for editing though!
Doesn't work after install
by Harlan in Oakland on 2021/04/15 02:37
Totally bombs out on my iMac after installing. Not a second before the crash screen. I am running Big Sur 11.2.3. Very dissappointing. Glad this happened before I went further and made any purchases.
Adding a retouch option.
by @SonyPrime21 on 2021/04/09 03:21
I wish there was a retouch option on this app. I had some pictures that needed retouching so I had to use something completely different. I enjoy this app so far as a photographer.
Broken. Just as another recent poster says, bad landscape vs portrait
by Beaconmark on 2021/04/05 15:36
For some reason, the app is not picking up the orientation on the photo taken on my iPhone 12. It rotates them 90 degrees clockwise when it shouldn’t. Then, to edit them, I turn the iPad Pro or iPhone sideways (the error is happening consistently on either device). Sometimes when switching the photo is distorted, but this whole situation really makes me worry about what is happing to the base image stored, and about the orientation of exports. in any case it’s a serious bug, and has caused me to exercise some of the other photo apps. I’ll be checking back for the fix to this, and will definitely switch back and update my rating to a 5 star when you get it straightened out. Do love the app. One big feature request—choice of sort method of “My filters” or even any and all filters, either by alphabetic sorting, or frequency of use, or recency of use.
Love the app but size
by ZBohlman on 2021/03/31 15:55
Fantastic app and I found good value in buying the $50 add-on to unlock all of the features.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
by Maui Kid on 2021/03/30 01:09
3/29/21 Update: Love the new flag and reject features! Thank you for showing some ❤️love❤️ to your early adopters too! I recommend NOT subscribing to this App, but “buy it” for the full price! It’s definitely worth it and you will use it for many years! Great app and developer! —————————————— Great app and lots of nice tools. Bought the full IAP to support the development of the app! 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Broken?
by zyxwvuts on 2021/03/29 00:11
Hey, soooo, I’m on an iPad pro 4 and completely updated (iOS and app)...when I select an image to edit it distorts the image—happens with portrait and landscape images...not sure what the bug is...help!

A real game changer
by jackson square babe on 2021/03/13 05:26
Darkroom allows me to get the best results for my photos. So many photos are just too dark. Adjust by using the brilliance bar. Play around. I have found I can even adjust vertically or horizontally. It’s fun to see what I can accomplish.
No Functionality on Mac - Only Crashes
by CrileKisling on 2021/03/11 01:22
I've been with this app for years on IOS, so thrilled to drop $50 to get all-access Darkroom 5.1.5 on my 5K iMac running Big Sur 11.2.2 & 40 GB or RAM. I've done everything I know and allowed full disk access and . . . NOTHING. Import a photo = Crash. Create a New Album = Crash. Soo, I read current reviews and this has been going since November. At the moment it has No functionality. Hoping for a Big Fix Very Soon. Jeez.
Bad
by raybert444 on 2021/03/08 18:11
They let you use the same tools that are already built into IOS software, then try to charge you if you want to export it. It would make sense to do that if you actually edited your picture with premium tools, but they're just trying to charge for such basic editing, you don't even need an app for that. I have nothing good to say about this app.
Amazing app, my fave for editing now!
by sensencubi on 2021/03/07 18:23
I switched from VSCO and this has quickly become my new fave editor! Much easier to create my own presets and batch import/export is so easy. This editor has a whites tool doesn’t exist in VSCO. Great for sub-optimal lighting situations. I also love the light and prism effects, which eliminates the need for some other apps I sometimes use.

Ok Features, Crashes ALL THE TIME
by Spielnicht on 2021/02/18 01:05
I wanted to like this app but features are "ok" compared to Photos. The main issue I have is that it CRASHES ALL THE TIME. I have a 2019 MBP 16 and it just keeps on crashing and hanging my system.
it okay
by Isaidwhatisaid14 on 2021/02/16 19:23
i been using it on my macbook. it often crashes alot on my macbook it probably work better on iphone but i am dissapointed for havin to pay $3 for iphone filters and only added contrast but it works wonder.
Great but Yellow grain showing after export

Best Hobbyist Photography App. Change my mind.
by Ikiru_07 on 2021/02/05 22:17
Im one who does not write reviews for apps ever. i’m simply too lazy for that, but, this app is one of my favorites on my phone & ipad, all the updates have surprised me so much to the extent that i WANT to write a review for it. This app is designed perfectly for Hobbyists. I love photography, and videography. I don’t like to shoot for money, nor am i able to shoot a lot... but i’m very passionate about my photos. I’m not willing to spend over $20 a month on adobe lightroom just to be able to edit my photos. lightroom is for professionals & clients & business. thus that app has many steps and is too time consuming just to edit a few photos,(not even video) and it’s not a personal workflow. Thus i needed a alternative program... not only for convenience but to save me money. I found this app called ‘darkroom’ almost 3 years ago and it had a few bugs but it was Good. very clean and good. So i sticked with it, and i really liked it. i’d take photos, immediately send pictures to my phone from the camera, edit directly on my phone and then have it overwrite the original file with the edits, thus keeping the original place in which the photo was taken in my photo library. all in just a couple mins! This was revolutionary! before then, i would wait to get home, i would import photos from camera to lightroom on my mac, edit, and have it save to my phone from my mac, but all the photos would not be in order in my photo library, which was so annoying. I sent some feed back every once in a while to help with the bugs, and updates kept coming out as the months went by... ....now you can edit raw photos?? sweet! ....now you got a histogram?? sweet! ....now you can copy&paste edits? sweet! ...now you can colorgrade VIDEOS?? Awesome! now this app is so grownup and blooming and i’m happy i got grandfathered in by the developers at no charge once they started charging for this app, but honestly this app IS worth the forever purchase of $50. Highly recommend this app to anyone who wants to have a natural smooth editing workflow.
Do you think I could look better?
by cbleadon on 2021/02/01 01:11
I need a new pic!
Trashy . It can’t pull the dynamic range as stock photos app!
by george_angeles on 2021/01/24 15:53
I try to compare of adjusting pics , bringing up shadows and lifting down highlights . it does it a lot worse than stock photos app . on top of that if you had adjusted a picture in photos app and then you go to THIS APP ( in my case I use usED it ONLY FOR colors) once you open that picture in THIS app those edits would ERASE. therefore I cannot adjust colors because it will reset my adjustments. So there is no point to have this app since it’s USELESS ! please fix it and that curve is useless -it can’t pull any information it’s just degrade picture. Stock app does all better ! Guys WHY you still exist !? Fix those issues . Even Freaking Snapseed does anything better than you . PS Omg and how come there is no play/stop buttons on video editing? how come we cannot SHORTEN/cut video ? how could you miss THIS ,are you joking?? INSTa- georges_angeles

A Professional Review
by JerredZ on 2021/01/13 01:39
I've done professional photography for a long time now, and while this app is missing some features (some of which are on the road map for future features), I just love how fast, powerful and pleasing images can be using this program. The syncinc with Apple is probably why I use it so much, and my photography has shifted from powerful workstations to more on-the-go editing. This is a fun to use app that's powerful enough for great results MOST of the time, even if I'm forced to go to Photoshop sometimes as well (for intensive stuff this app wasn't meant to compete with anyway).
Crash
by tiznot me on 2021/01/12 19:26
Continues to crash...deleted.
Good features, crashes half the time.
by shmarda on 2021/01/11 12:21
All the features of iOS apps are here, but the stabiliy isn't. It crashes on export half the time.
Yet another Subscription
by soundneedle on 2021/01/06 22:29
Apple should force developers like this to spell out the actual cost of this product before you download it. It is the App "Store" after all. What store do you go to where there are not prices listed.
Importing Presets
by Jubalani on 2021/01/04 16:56
This app is phenomenal. Period. The only thing holding me back from a 5 star review is the lack of ability of importing presets. If we could import .xmp files then it would be perfect!
Just perfect

Like I said above, yo!
Can’t delete the app
by bekqu on 2021/01/01 05:29
Why is this app undeletable?
ProRaw support 👍👍
by Rdfaleph on 2020/12/28 23:04
Allows you to do phenomenal things in really difficult lighting situations,e.g., very dark but with a couple bright lights on a small Christmas tree in the middle of the photo. I like the results better than my D850, And the phone didn’t require a tripod, even though my hands are notoriously shaky.
Potential greatness ruined by bugs and crashes
by RDub76 on 2020/12/26 20:35
This could easily be one of the best photo editing apps, but it is continually ruined by bugs and crashing. I tried using the app today to edit some portrait photos, but after the fifth crash I gave up. The developers are always promising fixes in coming updates, but the fixes never come or work! I use a few other photo editing apps and Darkroom is the only one I use that constantly has some kind of issue or bug that never seems to be fixed.
Awesome editing app!
by Livsweeney on 2020/12/26 03:20
I love this app so much! It makes editing so fast and I love that you don’t have to import photos like Lightroom or other apps. Thank you!!
Good but one major problem
by Bingobæ on 2020/12/23 21:00
Most of the time it doesn’t have all my photos. I will take a picture and go in this app to edit it, and it’s not even there as an option to edit. Even pictures I took years ago they are not there
Fantastic App with one glaring limitation
by J u s t i n H a m p t o n on 2020/12/22 06:19
I love Darkroom. The editing options are amazing. I only wish I could share my filters. I can’t even share them among my own devices. Filter sharing would be a great addition to this already great app.
ProRAW: Tonemapping isn’t showing up in editing along with exposure being missing
by Carolinawilly1 on 2020/12/21 01:34
I keep trying to find the tone-mapping function slider but to no avail. Also, my exposure control slider is completely missing from my ProRAW images as well. I assume I can’t be the only one running into this issue
I will not update.
by Platinum321 on 2020/12/19 16:15
Happy with the program. I will not update because I refuse to pay a subscription. If ever forced I will find another program. End subscription software usage. Ridiculous!
🙁
by AYAFFO on 2020/12/19 15:04
The new version of Darkroom app does not work for iPhone 5S! 😔 Please fix and check Thank you
I love this app but am disappointed in the Mac version.
by AkamaiOkole on 2020/12/15 23:43
It’s a bummer that Darkroom for Mac will only run on Big Sur. My 2013 iMac is still running flawlessly and i can’t imagine why it could not have been compiled as a universal app. I know this is a review for the IOS version but interoperability is important to me.
Amazing
by Justsomephotoeditor on 2020/12/14 04:27
I honestly LOVE this app and I think you should totally download it! Other editing apps are usually laggy and glitchy. But this app for me works just fine! Would highly recommend!
Lags too much
by theedgyjesus on 2020/12/10 11:35
I really enjoy using this app. It has change so much of my personal work and I will continue using it but I already had to restart my macbook because it was unresponsive when I was using darkroom. I hope it changes.
I love Darkroom, Buggy on mac
by Jay32812 on 2020/12/09 08:44
I have an issue in my 2016 macbook pro where I can't control the crop tool with my trackpad. It works well with the apple mouse, just not the trackpad.
Crashes too often
by Poyu on 2020/12/08 01:17
About 3/10 images crashes for me when exporting. Some UI bugs when going from the transform tab to adjustment tab. Still a very good app though, just annoying from time to time.
Overhyped, Limited Features
by DJ Myk on 2020/12/07 22:03
Not sure why Apple has decided to shower so much love on this app. Maybe because it is exclusive to Apple and has no Android version? I have paid for two other apps, both of which are superior to this one. Afterlight has more features for editing. And an iOS 10 app, that was never updated for newer iOS versions, sadly, had many more features and was at least as intuitive as this app is today. That app was Photogene, which had excellent simple editing features, including cloning, healing, dodging, burning, text, and more. To me, Afterdark is a good basic app, but it lags far behind in real features. That said, I have confidence in the developers and have bought a “forever” license, abandoning Afterlight. So— let’s see cloning, healing, layering, and all those features that really make our photos click!
What’s the subscription price.
by &!!!?!what the bl--- on 2020/12/06 10:57
I love this app, and would like to use it better, perhaps with some explanations like what is a histogram and how do I use it? However when asked if I wanted to subscribe, there was no price listed, or how often....I have often gotten rid of programs that charge more than once a year, as they can often mess up bank accounts.... Also there was no explanation as to the difference for subscription or not... please respond, as I really don’t want to get rid of/ or loose this program....thank you
Crashing

Just installed the app. It's not showing any of the photos in my library, and crasjed 2 times in a row, Not sure what's going on.
It has a simple interface
by mazdatsun on 2020/12/05 17:02
It has a simple interface. I think it’s nicer to use than Lightroom. It does have some options locked off for the premium version of the app.
Essential Software
by friendlysandwich on 2020/12/05 04:42
I rely on Darkroom daily. It's so rugged, yet elegant and speedy to use. The development team is also beyond committed to refining and extending the app; it just keeps getting better and better.
Love having Darkroom on Mac
by _zakray on 2020/11/28 22:20
One thing I'd enjoy having is sliders that can go a little further. For example I have a Night Mode shot that's just too bright, and even dragging Brightness down to -100 isn't enough. Also my pipe dream is being able to do depth detection in Darkroom, so I don't have to switch to another app like Focos.
Fell in love since I edited the first photo until it crashed
by yarizard24 on 2020/11/26 00:53
I really love this app, I literally created a perfect filter for my Instagram feed but with certain pictures it crashes and i don’t understand why :/ I think it’s because I have an iPhone 12 and maybe the app doesn’t support such high resolution. I hope this can be fixed.

this is a great editing app. cleans up the missing adjustments super quick and make it look all pro.
Left Handed Accessibility Needed
by whattheraymart on 2020/11/22 21:13
App is pretty good for the most part. The only gripe i have is that I want to use the apple pencil and since i’m left handed, there’s no good way to use it for the app to click on sliders and such. Including a left hand option would be more accommodating.
Crashing on Big Sur

Still no white balance
by freediverx01 on 2020/11/18 12:51
I really want to like this app but it’s ridiculous that it still lacks a feature as basic and essential as white balance control (which is inexplicably also missing from Apple’s Photos app on iOS. ) Instead of silly filters and frames, how about adding truly useful ones like white balance, dehaze, clarity, and color grading?
Awesome
by Sweet Jesup on 2020/11/15 03:38
Simply awesome. So easy to achieve great results.

Great Capibilities Even in FreeMode
by AmirBlasts on 2020/11/09 17:26
Really Happy to add this to My Arsenal of tools. Great App. Can't wait to see these features come to the pop_os version.
Not worth for video editing.
by mzamur85 on 2020/11/07 15:59
For a serious video colorist there are too many limitations. Can’t import footage from the Files app. Export bit rate is too low even at max settings resulting visible banding. I guess it’s fine for social networks. It’s a shame because there is a potential. There are amazing controls for color grading and bunch of presets but they are totaly useless for a professional cinematography use.

Great phot editing app
by Mogrady88 on 2020/11/02 15:20

I strongly recommend NOT using the video editor function. I was using it faithfully for a while until I realized the quality as my video wasn’t good after saving so I checked and it decreases the resolution so much.... bummer cause I really like the app
No presets for white balance
by Metageek2017 on 2020/10/16 15:40
It’s pretty good, but it’s got a showstopper: there’s no list of light types to use for the white balance (Daylight, Cloudy, Shady, etc.). I use these heavily when editing raw photos (in Lightroom and ufraw); I can’t switch to Darkroom without them.

No Fujifilm XPro-3 RAW Support
by Eavesphoto on 2020/10/03 05:04
I like the darkroom app. However they need to support newer cameras RAW formats. I bought my Fujifilm X Pro-3 camera last December. In darkroom still doesn’t recognize the RAW format from that body.I canceled my subscription.
Why no “Camera Roll” option?
by JackAttack39 on 2020/10/02 15:13
Why not include a Camera Roll option in the Album picker? Some of us are working with pictures from the camera, screenshots, selfies, and downloaded photos all at once. The options currently provided limit what is seen by the user without a lot of guesswork and jumping through many different album options which causes so much unnecessary frustration. An un-sorted Camera Roll album option would eliminate this and allow us to work with ease. If this option gets added in an update, I’ll stick around and even subscribe, as I really do enjoy all of the features and feel the developers deserve compensation for their hard work. However, if this doesn’t get changed I’ll be forced to stick with Ultralight to get my needs suited, which is a shame because I really wanted Darkroom to be my go-to.

Won’t let me export
by Uknowho440 on 2020/09/30 15:46
Fine editing, but i need to pay these people to export my photos. Awful choice! I’ll be deleting this app. It was actually really good, but i need to be able to export and save. I’m fed up with apps that keep you from doing the last step so that you have to pay them. Not being able to export is a huge turn-off for me. Disappointing.
Too pricey
by SoundsPrincess on 2020/09/27 01:33
I don’t need anything badly enough to pay a subscription cost. If this was for business maybe I could see the price point but for personal use just not worth it for me.
awesome app
by ryanmadsen on 2020/09/23 00:50
i’ve always been stuck on snapseed but dark is super good with some different features. super good app.

Great Photo/Movie Editor App!
by Cyclura on 2020/09/21 19:27
Fantastic app
Not subscription worthy
by kailismom on 2020/09/21 02:18
There are definitely some decent features in this app, but not enough beyond what you can get for free in the native iPhone photo editor to justify a monthly or yearly subscription. I might be willing to pay a one-time purchase for it, but it just doesn’t offer enough to be worthy of a recurring cost.
Boarder color issues
by RC BROTHERHOOD on 2020/09/20 08:22
This app before the iOS update was top tier, It has become my go to photo edit app overall. Unfortunately since the update, the app has become slower and the colors of the boarders are not as vibrant as they used to be. It’s really disappointing and I genuinely hope you maintain our privacy with our photos but give us back the vibrancy of boarders and the speed from pre iOS 14.
What happened to the blur option?
by Inknobi on 2020/09/20 07:27
Enjoying the app but am not seeing the blur nor depth options at all. Were they removed or am I missing something?
Half of Snapseed at $20
by hafman42 on 2020/09/19 15:53
This app does half of the free app Snapseed and costs a bunch of money every month. And Snapseed is free to download and use. For this app to be worth the money it would need to innovate and provide something that others, like Snapseed doesn’t but that’s not this app.
Great Sony RAW Support
by Nero576 on 2020/09/19 02:07
Very easy to use and one of the only apps that can be used to view Sony raw files quickly. Very useful in culling photos and quick inspection. The ability to read off network shares would really put this app over the top.
Doesn’t Work
by Budlayla on 2020/09/18 03:48
Why do all pictures turn super bright automatically when opening in the app? It’s impossible to use. I’ve paid and been very much annoyed by it. Both system and app is up to date and it’s not fixed.
Good but crashes
by notworkin1001 on 2020/09/18 01:38
Tried the week trial but now I can’t even cancel the year subscription because the app keeps crashing. I really wanted to like this app
Nice but.....
by Horserious on 2020/09/17 06:55
Sep 16th 2020. Something went wrong. The latest update for iPadOS 14 became practically useless. Every photo you open become x stops brighter. Running the app on IPadOS 13.x (the latest).
Purchased license for features now behind paywall
by DCraig568 on 2020/09/15 22:58
I have to say I’m very disappointed as someone who has previously purchased a license for the full app and now has features placed behind a subscription pay-wall. I understand the rationale for a subscription model, but taking my paid version away and leaving me with the same one anyone can have for free is bad business. No more from me... I’m done.
Subscription model?
by Amdjanei on 2020/09/14 07:23
I purchased darkroom precisely because it didn’t have a subscription model. A year goes by and now all of a sudden I don’t have features because I don’t have a subscription? Yeah no definitely won’t be using this.
Pixelated
by AnimeDark on 2020/09/10 22:15
I’ve been using darkroom for several months now and it’s really great! I use it to edit photos and make wallpapers. The only problem is that recently when I download the final photos I come up with as a copy, in my camera roll they turn up pixelated. I don’t know how to fix it or if it’s a glitch in the app. When I go back to darkroom the photo goes from blurry back to normal. So hopefully this gets fixed soon!
Great features but unstable
by CERDABOI on 2019/08/30 18:11
Although there are no selective editing brushes, Darkroom is probably the only editor with this many editing tools that allows you to batch edit on mobile. The only thing that’s missing is some stability. It always crashes on my 5th gen iPad mini. The only things I would improve is the stability of app itself, the grain feature, because the grain gets wayyy to gritty, and a noise reduction feature. Honestly I think noise reduction would be more important than a selective brush. I could use Darkoom for event photo editing, where I barely finding myself using the selective brush, but then that leaves out a trusty noise reduction feature so I feel like it really limits my options when it comes to picking a project to edit with this app. I would still rather stick to doing the majority of my editing with Lightroom. This app came very close to opening up my workflow but that one feature of noise reduction missing is a deal breaker for me.
Screenshots are pictures too
by Brandon_219 on 2019/09/14 08:10
If I could add one advanced feature it would be spot-selected white balance, but I'm content with the controls for the most part. If I could add one basic feature that really shouldn't be an issue, though, it'd be to import screenshots. Why the hell are screenshots excluded? I have this near-perfect photo editor and can't edit 1/4 of my photos. I know screenshots aren't ideal for printing but they're good for testing crops and testing edits of photos, the latter I can't do without making copies of photos thanks to this app's strange limitation. Yes I can test edits on a single image but I would have to note and undo every edit to try the next. It just seems so much more inefficient than simply allowing screenshots to be edited. Edit: added one star. It's good that screenshots aren't completely excluded, but I still wish they appeared in albums like normal photos do. In an attempt to declutter, per developer's response, I feel like they've actually created more clutter in making screenshots harder to navigate and cause needless frustration by making them disappear from albums they're in. If you want to declutter the normal camera roll, that's fine, but favorites and other albums should be left alone.
Great App and Great Team
by iChris36 on 2020/05/26 23:35
I don’t use this app often, but when I do, it does what it needs. Recently, I’ve opened the app up and come across a message detailing their new subscription model. Ok, I understand. The next decade in app development will bring about mind blowing features and it’s important to have the ability to finance that. With that said, I was given two options: continue using the app with no additional cost, or subscribe for a reduced rate. Although I chose the free option, I am impressed and happy that the developers have chosen to allow the end user an option like this instead of forcing a subscription. I’m much more willing to support developers like this in the future. And if I used the app more often than I do, I likely would have gone the subscription route. It’s a great app, and I’m sure the future will be bright! Thanks for all the hard work!
Very useful even for Pros
by Besdayz on 2019/02/15 08:30
I use this app when I want to import dslr images (via google drive or canon) to my iphone and display these images on social media or photo share. Obviously I won’t be printing from iPhone files since it’s smaller resolution files. For pro work I would use the real file on my computer and adobe products to edit. But for a quick edit with some nice filters curves perspective cropping and sending previews to clients or even personal use this works well. What I really like is I don’t have to save as a edited image and duplicate files since all edits are non destructive and can easily revert to originals. My suggestion for the developers would be people like me would love more functionality that more closely resembles what I can do on Lightroom or photoshop. I know that means more cost but off top of my head I would really like things like 1) stitching images for panoramas 2) focus stacking 3) spot removal (brush tool) 4) masks (for local edits) 5) hdr 6) more filters esp for B&W. I would pay for these. Carbon has some good ones. 7) Gaussian blurs 8) gradients 9) selective coloring (making eyes whiter, teeth whiter etc) I realize this may be a sophisticated set of functions for a mobile app but hopefully in future it is available.
Crashes when zooming in on raw photos 😣
by papaSnoot on 2018/12/22 12:16
Let me start by saying that I really WANT to love darkroom. It is tightly integrated with halide and other camera apps, and the amount of control available in the app is amazing. I also love that you can super easily switch between raw and other versions of your pics. So the reason I just can’t love this app is because for me it is unusable. I am using halide to shoot raw photos and when I edit them in darkroom as soon as I zoom in close on a raw photo and try to pan the view, the app crashes. This happened every time with any raw photo weather it was shot on halide or another iPhone app, or shot on my Sony a6300 and imported through photos app. I have tried deleting the app and rebooting then reinstalling but it just does the same thing with raw photos. Very disappointed. Hope the devs can fix this soon else I really can’t use the program. If this gets fixed it’s easily a 5 star rating!!
Reading the reviews...
by COLORADOAPPUSER on 2019/05/24 13:42
I’ve just downloaded this to try it out. But let me say after reading the responses by the developers to some of the reviews I’m hesitant to put money towards the app. My question, why come across as offensive and upset whenever anyone gives you less than all stars and makes suggestions? Apple, how can you continually highlight this app when you see some of the responses by the developers? You continually suggest you aren’t a pro app, only a team of two etc. That’s fine, then I would suggest making the price less, or even free, until it’s fully ready and it might help you build a loyal following. Most would consider that price point to have a fully polished app ready to work in every way. Just don’t be offended when people who really care make suggestions. By the way I rarely review, this just really caught me by surprise. Not a good way to build loyalty with your brand. Accept the criticism and use it to get better...
Pretty Great
by nyrb22 on 2020/03/19 20:26
I love darkroom, I’m not a pro photographer but I do like to take pictures! Darkroom allows me to edit my photos just how I want them and it lets me get creative with colors and filters too. However, I was having a problem that was quite annoying. I made my own filter and used it on an image, but when I tried to export the image with the filter, it kept telling me I couldn’t because I hadn’t bought the subscription, I didn’t use any premium features so I don’t know why I couldn’t export the picture. This happened to me multiple times, and it continues to frustrate me. Despite the fact that I kept having this problem Darkroom is a great app...it’s good for pros and non-pros. For the most part I love Darkroom, and my problem could have been user error...no one is perfect! Overall I would recommend this app to anyone who is creative and loves pictures!
Wonderful app paired with ProCamera
by mikesplaces on 2020/03/15 02:22
I really love this app. The update on 15 March adds core enhancements I cannot wait to see in action. I take photos solely with an iPhone 11 and most always take in RAW format. This app makes learning the steps to both functional and creative editing so good. I bought the subscription when launched. We have to support our developers. It’s about the long term with some apps so I personally believe that subscription services are a tool to that development. This app is a long term adoption to me. Being able to use on iPad is nice but my workflow is very simple now. Take picture with ProCamera. Edit resulting RAW files in Darkroom and share with social media, back up to google photos and have long term memories of living my retired life in Vietnam.
Useful; terrific and unique Inset Width for Frame feature
by Joseph_Joseph on 2020/03/23 22:25
1 thank you for years of use and my benefit with your well designed app. Your app has helped me as a regular guy with my home pictures, not a professional in many ways. And as a volunteer to groups to post schedules and things. 2 your app is the only app, or PC edit s/w that I know of, that has the added frame width keep to the dimensions of the original picture, e.g., I add a border to an 8.5 x 11 in poster. After the frame is inserted, the resulting poster with frame is still 8.5 x 11 in. As the frame width is increased, the original image shrinks to accommodate the new width. This is ingenious - I have used this feature for years. This is the most important feature for me. Thank you! 3. I read your statement about why you are in need of a subscription. It is not easy in retirement, but your truthfulness and intent to honor past members to continue free, is a remarkably ethical character that I applaud you for, so I will likely pay the one time fee after this post to support your endeavor and to not have reoccurring fees. Healthy and Success to you and your team.
Restored previous purchases
by thinkman on 2018/04/02 12:59
Not the most intuitive means of restoring previous purchases but FINALLY found the settings menu and now all is well. 3 stars because this should also be a full resolution iPad app. Take care of that and this review goes to 5 stars. After the developer responded to my 3 star review saying “Apple doesn’t make it very easy for us to restore purchases……”, I have to add that this has never been case with other Apps – in this case it was a matter of finding the settings to be able to do this. My feelings are that developers need to standardize on the look and position of the settings gear! I upped my review by a star as they noted they were working on an iPad version, even though I feel it should have been developed for that in the first place. If this happens, I’ll make it a 5 star review.
I really want to move to iPad only photo editing, this is almost the app I need
by zedkolk on 2019/04/14 05:19
I would LOVE to sell my mac and move to iPad only photo editing, but before I can do that I need an iPad app that includes the functionality I have from Lightroom Classic (Lightroom CC doesn’t have all the features I need). I found Darkroom from The Sweet Setup and its definitely the best photo editing app I’ve tried but it doesn’t quite make the move for me. I shoot primarily events and landscapes, sometimes portraits. Required (for me) features that this app does have: RAW support Custom filters Paste edits across multiple photos (the batch edit feature wasn’t working for me, I wish it did) Batch exports iCloud Photos support Ability to tap to change adjustments instead of drag a slider Required features that are missing (or I can’t find): Brushes (for highlights, shadows, saturation, etc...) Spot healing brush or repair tool (I forgot what Lightroom calls it, the shortcut is Q) Wishlist that isn’t a dealbreaker: Dropbox support Ability to view iCloud photos with the date added view in addition to the chronological view What’s nice but isn’t a required for me: Modify copyright metadata on export Favoriting an image in Darkroom also favorites it in Photos
Bait and Switch Pricing
by J o e P h o t o on 2020/03/25 16:10
App looks great with good controls and fast to use. Image quality looks very good as well. Before downloading I saw in the in-app purchases description on App Store that it was $9.99 US to unlock everything! I was ready to jump on it. That’s an awesome price for an app of this caliber. However once open, it’s revealed that it’s actually $50, (or subscribe which is a business model I don’t support). I’m kind of upset at the false advertising. I want to support the devs and get a great iPhone editing app, but going to pass on this one. Affinity Photo, a full desktop class app, is more than 50% less, (and feature rich Procreate is a fraction of the price)! Granted they are iPad apps, but just have to bounce images to the iPad for editing. Comparing features and usability of Affinity Photo vs. Darkroom I’m disappointed with the ratio of features to asking price here... Especially after the bait and switch.
Very Misleading
by mDevereaux on 2019/08/23 03:14
To be clear, downloading the app is free. “Trying” is it free. But you can’t export anything unless you pay for the app so I feel it’s very misleading to advertise that it’s free. The developer should clearly state upfront that if you actually want to use the app - as in make edits and download the final image - that the user has to pay. I understand the premise of try before you buy but that’s wasn’t clear from what I read. I also find it odd that no matter what edits you make, even simple edits, you still can’t export the image. Most freemium apps allow some free options. That said, the app seems to have a lot of nice editing features. From a usability standpoint, sliders that have a generous margin to snap back to 0 is nice. My suggestion to the developer is to rewrite the description so it’s very clear that the app is not free.
RAW editing needs improvements
by masnun on 2019/03/10 01:42
This is a great app. I love the UI and UX. Love the integration with Halide. The filters are great. Copy hashtag feature is absolutely great - love it. But what I think needs more work is raw editing features. The photos are underexposed sometimes. Even after increasing exposure and brightness, they remain underexposed. With Adobe Lightroom, the same photo gets a lot of light when I move up exposure a bit. This is my only issue with the app. I am quite fine with it missing some other useful features like selective editing. Darkroom in app purchase is a one time thing, so compared to Lightroom, Darkroom definitely offers better value at a lower price. If the under exposure issue is fixed, I will continue using Darkroom for almost all my photo editing.
DarkRoom
by Amherst Owens on 2019/01/30 14:22
DarkRoom is a fantastic iOS photo editing app that I have been using for a few months now. I really like the slider functions as it gives almost pinpoint accuracy over editing your photos. Also this app lets you edit Raw files as well as other more common file types. You have to buy other functions within the app, but most other notable apps like Polarr do the same. At $5.00 per unlock it can get costly. You don’t have to buy them if you don’t want to use the app and it even lets you try before you buy to see if you even want the extras. But over all its functions, and clean interface make it a wonderful photo editing app to use.
As a professional, this is my go to
by dan beltran on 2018/11/12 04:58
I absolutely love darkroom. It has all the controls I want for editing in my iPhone without getting clunky or bogged down with unnecessary extras. If I want to do complicated functions I’d do it on my computer. One request I have is to be able to reorder adjustments so for instance I could move temperature and tint up to the top. I work in Lightroom all day and it would be nice to reorder them to what’s familiar instead of hunting down the adjustment I’m looking for. Darkroom has serious updates so often I can’t imagine they aren’t already working on this, I’m sure it’s just a matter of time. Thank you for making a pro editing tool that just works.
Excellent App!
by itsmechris on 2017/12/28 09:27
I recently discovered the Darkroom App. I immediately purchased full functionality. For years, I have made “social media” posts by editing JPG files with less than ideal image quality. Frustration finally led me to search for a better option than the stock Nikon wireless mobile utility and Apple Photos on my iPhone. That’s how I came across Darkroom (and ShutterSnitch by a different developer which allows me to download RAW files in bulk off of my Nikon camera). This combination is incredible; I only wish I would have discovered it earlier. Note to developers: I just sent an email to you with a couple of suggestions that might make your 5 star app even better 😊
Great app that keeps improving
by CarterV78 on 2020/05/04 05:46
I love this app, and continue to be impressed by the developer’s improvements, it’s come a long way even in the few months I’ve had it. The only thing I really feel like I’m missing at this point is some more advanced editing controls like clarity and noise reduction, better support for RAW files, and more filter options (I still find VSCO to have better, more subtle filters). I absolutely believe it will continue to improve though, and right now this covers 90% of my editing needs. The stability and speed of the app is fantastic, batch editing is fantastic, and the design of the app is superb!
RAW image processing isn’t usable compared to others
by Gevork g on 2019/07/04 20:35
This app has the potential of being great. It has the library support and copying edits across many pictures by pasting. Overall the feature set is ok , but I noticed the biggest problem compared to other apps for RAW image processing. This app shows the RAW image file with muted colors and a white haze across the image. Adjustments that O make aren’t the same adjustments as in Lightroom or Affinity Photo, or even After Light 2. Is it the RAW image processing or the was it show the image? Ive tried many images back and forth with the other apps, and I cant get a desirable edit on Darkroom the way I get it on Lightroom or Affinity Photo. I cant get that crisp vibrant photo I want. The end result looks muted, off color, and not clear, with noise. I like the potential for the app, but it needs to update its RAW image processing algorithm to make it useable and on par with the other apps.
Great App, Developers work hard to keep it that way
by Sunflash.iph on 2018/07/18 00:19
Edit: Thank you darkroom! You fixed the problem that I mentioned in this review, glad to see that you are trying to make a great product. I added a star, cause I really do love this app, but have run into a new issue that is almost as annoying as the first. My edits do not remain on photos when I modify the original. I’ve gone back in multiple times and modified a photo, exported it to modify the original. But once I close the app it goes back to its original state. Will be glad once this is fixed! I really do love this App, makes editing a snap. The color controls are a game changer for me when it comes to editing on my phone. The one issue I have with the app, and keeping it from 5 stars is the that in the library, where I can select which photos to edit, it gets the photo is displays is different than the photo that comes up when I select it. This makes it hard to edit photos cause I’m not sure where the photo I want to edit is, I’ll find it, click on it and it’s a different photo. Fix this issue and I think it’s a 5 Star app
A little question
by ixland on 2019/05/18 14:44
Hey dear Darkroom team, Firstly, it was a very nice experience to use your app. You know, you guys have got the best interface in a market, But I do need to ask you a question that if you want to add a precise editing feature to your app because your app has been nearly perfect except for the absence of that one little feature. And I’m really sure there are a lot of people out there who are willing to pay you for that. To be honest there are some apps which have already had this feature and charge less, but I believe Darkroom will still be the best if that feature has been added. :)
Like the App Interface, good basic editing
by asteroidbooty on 2019/06/13 16:36
Lovely interface! Would like to make this my primary editing app, but there are still a few features missing (see other reviews). Overall, it has most of the things you need to edit photos quickly. The asking price for additional filters is also pretty reasonable. However, pre built filters aren't what I want most. If prioritizing new features, please work on retouch tools next and add a way to resize images easily. Edit: I would like the ability to resize photos to reduce file size for easier sharing. Also crop for upload to social media - the popular aspect ratios are 1:1 , 4:5 and 16:9. Thanks!
I never write reviews but...
by drk_adapt on 2018/04/16 02:55
I found myself compelled to give credit where credit is due. As an amateur photographer I found myself very impressed with the features and customizability in darkroom. I have used several photo editing apps in the past including Lightroom, VSCO cam, etc. However; this app offers the flexibility and depth where other apps fall short. Keep up the good work. If you have graduated beyond just point and click filters then seriously look into this app. I bought the one time purchase to unlock all features and have been thrilled with the results. Cheers!
Replacing Adobe Lightroom with this
by CaptHarlock on 2020/08/08 14:51
Very capable photo editing app at a reasonable yearly subscription rate. I’m getting myself out of the expensive Adobe universe and this is a good option for an in-phone photo editor. It’s missing a few adjustments like “Clarity” and “Dehaze” that I’ve used frequently enough to miss but you can create those effects yourself with the included adjustments. And then save them as your own presets. The one adjustment I would like to see improved in Darkroom is the curves. The adjustments are locked at 5 percentage points (at least that’s how it seems to me) where other photo apps allow you to add and move the points to different percentages.
The Very Best
by Mad Chipmunk on 2018/10/06 13:52
UPDATE: This is still my favorite photo editor and one of my favorite apps period. The developer team continues to invest in and add useful features on a regular basis. Recent examples include iOS 12’s portrait depth map and hashtag collections. What’s equally impressive is the thoughtfulness of placement for new features. When an (any) app is new, users like it for its simplicity, but software developers have to improve it — they have to add new features. It’s hard to do that without adding tons of complexity. Darkroom hits an awesome balance. **** This is my go-to photo editor. The included filters are great. The manual controls are awesome. It's incredibly handy that you can modify the original photo. You can use the app to browse and edit photos on your camera roll: no importing. Recent improvements have improved the experience of the user interface as well. I'm really glad I paid for this one. 👍 Hey Developers! You created something pretty special. Nice work!!! 😄
Overall quite good
by TouchTodo Author on 2017/11/29 05:26
Coming from desktop raw workflow, I knew I need to give up something when comes to mobile. This app is probably as close as it gets for what’s out there. One of the key feature I’m looking for is curve, and it (kinda) has it, with fixed highlight and shadow mid point, which for the most part I’m fine with it. The problem I have with it right now, and I hope developer can fixed it in next version, is the inconsistent preview AFTER I did the editing. For couple photos the preview inside the app shows overexposed (after I choose to modify original). It constantly skews my judgement, and esp when I want to copy over edits to other photos.
What’s the subscription price.

I love this app, and would like to use it better, perhaps with some explanations like what is a histogram and how do I use it? However when asked if I wanted to subscribe, there was no price listed, or how often....I have often gotten rid of programs that charge more than once a year, as they can often mess up bank accounts.... Also there was no explanation as to the difference for subscription or not... please respond, as I really don’t want to get rid of/ or loose this program....thank you
Easily my favorite editing app
by Krizzle711.........711 on 2020/05/06 19:03
I love this app. Editing pictures has been made so simple with this app and still with so many amazing features. I only have one problem and it’s just been since the last update the app won’t open for me and crashes. And just saying I would even wait a month for that to be fixed be up this app truly is that useful and great. Side note- the phone I have that I’ve experienced it crashing on is the iPhone 11. Not sure if that helps any
Solid RAW editor, but missing some essential features
by tyler jw on 2020/07/03 19:37
I’ve been using Dark Room since it was first released. At first it seemed like a novelty, editing RAW files on an iPhone?! The app has made incredible leaps since then, I especially like the ability to edit the foreground and background separately when a depth mask is found in the photo. It’s great to see features like this, I’ve yet to find one in competing products. But the lack of a white balance tool means I can’t start my editing with Dark Room. That’s table stakes for a RAW editor, it’s omission is still a head scratcher to me.
Not sure why it took me so long...
by maax.net on 2019/09/26 10:49
I was using Snapseed as my primary editing app. This one was on the side. Woth Afterlight2. I own all three(Snapseed from the times it was a paid app) and I bought darkroom last. Now it is next to Snapseed on my main screen as the go to app. What it severely misses is the perspective tool from SS and the ability to fast apply the previous edits. It is a bit clunky at this point. The rest is epic. Batch editing, exporting as well as the ability to delete unwanted photos from the app itself. Love it. Max
Great on iPhone—iPad support?
by CdrSpock on 2018/10/05 05:34
I really enjoy using Darkroom to edit photos quickly on my phone, but I sometimes like to take all my photos from the day and edit them on my iPad. Darkroom could be really awesome on the iPad, too, but all we have access to for the moment is a scaled-up version of the phone interface, which is less than ideal. The larger screen of the iPad makes more precise editing possible, so it’s a shame I have to use different apps on each platform to take advantage of it.
Great Interface, Lacking in features
by mobilephotographerdude on 2018/06/12 05:32
I’ll start by saying that this is a very well designed app. If you’re looking for quick photo editing with some creative control this definitely could work for you. However both HSL and Curves editing are accessible only through an in app purchase. The same functionality I have to say is, unfortunately for these devs, available free with Lightroom CC mobile. I also found minute changes to things like temperature or exposures difficult. While this won’t become my go-to mobile photography editor, it certainly is worth checking out for its interface.
Good but not great...yet.
by MaxxuM on 2019/10/21 00:05
Darkroom has everything I need - the only problem is it crashes very predictably. Every RAW image taken on my iPhone Xs Max will crash Darkroom on my iPad Pro 11 when I try to sharpen the image more than 50% at once. The settings are still saved, thank goodness, but it's still annoying since I have to go back and find the image I was working with. My solution is to change the sharpening some, close the image, then do it again and again until I get it where I want. There are a few other tools that do this, but sharpening is the most consistent and frustrating. Please fix this!
Fun app
by Dave 2347 on 2019/05/26 10:47
I like this app for doing quick changes to a photo the fact that it will link and send right to Instagram and other sites is nice. The things I would like to see it do is allow you to pick just a certain spot on the photo to change and a little more control over whites. We do a lot of outdoor waterfall, lake, ocean etc shots. I would like to be able to just take a section of a bush and change to colors on it like in Lightroom. Overall a great app that I use a lot.
Sets you up for a $20 subscription fee before trying it.
by Ukiacat on 2020/08/18 21:08
So this app is “free”? Not! You download and open the app and immediately get a screen that says you get one week free and you have to choose some sort of subscription fee before you can even open it the first time. I hate companies that try to force me into agreeing to a subscription before even trying the app. Then I have to remember to delete it or stop payment or maybe fight with the company because they are charging me for something I do not want? Nope. Not. Worth. That. Kind. Of. Hassle. Sticking with Pixelmator Pro. One fee, all features available. No hassle.
Never mind....
by M.S.H. on 2020/02/14 11:05
Well, you got me — or actually you didn’t. I had recently found this app and was on the verge of buying... so I downloaded the latest update, only to discover it switched to a subscription — and I didn’t see that advertised anywhere before downloading. But shame on me. Still, I am amazed that so many app developers think nothing of isolating their users to squeeze more cash out of a ever dwindling minority of them. Whatever — good luck, but I (and I suspect a whole lot of others) are out. Sure, one subscription won’t break the bank, but we are dealing with literally dozens upon dozens now, and that just isn’t feasible. Apple, you are letting (or forcing) the iOS ecosystem to collapse!
Only one complaint..
by JacqlynS on 2018/07/29 07:30
This app is amazing. Plenty of options to quickly make your photo look like it was taken and edited by a professional. My only complaint is that now I have to pay to get the features i once had for free... I was going to rate this app 4/5 for that reason... however it's not your guys' fault I'm a cheap 'you-know-what' lol. The price is fair, would be worth every penny. I'm just not in the position to be spending money on applications.
Impressed
by rickmurrays on 2017/09/27 00:54
Very impressed with this latest release. Tools are powerful yet easily accessible, and the latest UI skin shows a lot of attention to detail, with a few minor exceptions. The export menu is well crafted, with semi translucent dark background, nice typography, etc. However, there are a few menus, such as aspect, border and favorites, that unfortunately use the default grey iOS of old. Would be nice if these were updated to match the rest of the apps look and feel. A nitpick for sure, and certainly does not detract from the remainder of this excellent app
Best App Ever!
by cmason05 on 2018/12/24 16:27
I would say this is the best editing app I have gotten. All of the other ones are bad because the don’t give you many options unless you purchase them. This app though has many options even though you do t purchase the full pack. I purchased the full pack and it is by far better if you do that. I would say that the only downside is that the cropping to is very hard to use and I crop a lot in my photos.
Terrible app/business model/don’t waste your time
by Five0hFour on 2019/01/23 05:12
This app uses the now ubiquitous “charge for every feature" model and that Isashame. The developer had responded saying they allow you to use all the pro features so it really is a "try it for free" app, I say that’s not accurate. Unless your workflow is done entirely on your phone then maybe you can get a solid feel for it, but I don’t trust edit until I’ve examined them on a monitor. YOU CANT EXPORT/SAVE A SINGLE PHOTO IF IT USES EVEN A SINGLE “PROFESSIONAL” feature So yea, you can “try” it, good luck getting a solid feel for whether the results are worth paying for when you can’t even export a file to evaluate the results
Seems like a good App but keeps exiting.
by JLam1111 on 2019/09/02 05:35
Downloaded a day ago and for a mobile photo editing App it seems pretty good for what it is designed for. My problem as of now it the App will exit (close out) in the middle of editing. This is happening pretty often...like 3 out of 5 edits. I'm running the App on a iPhone 7+ with the latest iOS updates. I hope this is resolvable with an update. As of now I won't use the App as much as I had hope too. Once resolved I certainly will. I gave 3 stars because of the unexpected exiting of the App. The features and what it can do is 5 stars.
Intuitive layout, but....
by _Aela_ on 2018/07/03 20:07
This app is basically lightroom- but you have to pay for it. Imho the layout is easier to navigate, so if you think that's worth the money, go for it. Idk if this app exports at a higher resolution than other apps, but it's basically VSCO and Lightroom CC mobile combined. When I tried using the filters for free, the app crashed each time. Not sure if that's bc of my phone or the app, but it's weird that it crashed whenever I went to the filter section? I want to try the RAW exposure but I havent been able to import RAW files yet. Maybe that makes the app worth it?
Needs shareable filters and layers!
by heyoume on 2019/08/31 16:43
Darkroom is powerful, but I wish it would do at least six more things.  First, the ability to share custom/modified filters. Second, the ability to use layers. Third, import images from third-party photo services like Unsplash or Pixabay. Fourth, film effects like dust & scratches, light leaks, glitches, etc. Fifth, post planner. Sixth, background images, patterns, and customizable colors for frames.  I would like Darkroom to be my all-in-one tool for editing, embellishing, and socializing my photography! Please make it happen!
FAVORITE EDITING APP OF ALL TIME
by GannonFreeman on 2018/12/19 06:53
The simplest most advanced image editing app on the App Store without a doubt, you won't be disappointed! The create custom filter option is so important for creating an all around cohesive aesthetic for your blog/instagram! Responsive team behind the app as well On dec 8th 2018 I sent an email explaining how important it would mean to me if darkroom came to the iPad! And not even 10 DAYS LATER, sure enough an update supporting iPad was released! Thank you guys, Keep up the AMAZING WORK!
Amazing app.
by Mmmmaxxxx on 2020/07/21 06:35
I am a long term user of Lightroom, Photoshop, Pixelmator, and Pixelmator Pro. Each of those apps is part of my workflow on desktop. But Darkroom has become the only necessary app for my iPhone editing. It is *so* fast, *so* stable, *so* easy to use, and so incredibly beautiful ... I cannot recommend this app enough. I learned about this app from the AppStories podcast interview. I ended up paying the $50 for the lifetime unlock. It was worth it!
RAW editing lags behind
by Devyn Fields on 2019/12/12 18:22
Comparing Darkroom and Lightroom on iOS at editing RAW images taken on iPhone is incomparable. Lightroom takes the raw file at has WAY more latitude for editing shadows and highlights than Darkroom. I conducted multiple tests thinking I was using the app wrong, but I’m on the latest editing and shooting RAW with both Halide and Moment apps. The raw image looks RAW (bad) but when trying to bring back the shadows and highlights, it is unsuccessful where Lightroom handles with ease. I prefer Darkrooms ui over Lightroom, but have to continue using Lightroom due to this gap in processing capability. This app could surpass Lightroom easily if it’s RAW editing power worked.

3/29/21 Update: Love the new flag and reject features! Thank you for showing some ❤️love❤️ to your early adopters too! I recommend NOT subscribing to this App, but “buy it” for the full price! It’s definitely worth it and you will use it for many years! Great app and developer! —————————————— Great app and lots of nice tools. Bought the full IAP to support the development of the app! 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have a 2019 MBP 16 and it just keeps on crashing and hanging my system.
it okay

This is a fun to use app that's powerful enough for great results MOST of the time, even if I'm forced to go to Photoshop sometimes as well (for intensive stuff this app wasn't meant to compete with anyway).

by soundneedle on 2021/01/06 22:29
Apple should force developers like this to spell out the actual cost of this product before you download it.

Ridiculous!

Also there was no explanation as to the difference for subscription or not... please respond, as I really don’t want to get rid of/ or loose this program....thank you
Crashing
by trptgk on 2020/12/05 21:02
Just installed the app.

So easy to achieve great results.

by AmirBlasts on 2020/11/09 17:26

Not worth for video editing.
by mzamur85 on 2020/11/07 15:59
For a serious video colorist there are too many limitations. Can’t import footage from the Files app. Export bit rate is too low even at max settings resulting visible banding. I guess it’s fine for social networks. It’s a shame because there is a potential. There are amazing controls for color grading and bunch of presets but they are totaly useless for a professional cinematography use.
#1 Editing App

Great phot editing app
by Mogrady88 on 2020/11/02 15:20

by mebejessie on 2020/10/17 15:35
I strongly recommend NOT using the video editor function.

If this was for business maybe I could see the price point but for personal use just not worth it for me.

by Cyclura on 2020/09/21 19:27
Fantastic app
Both system and app is up to date and it’s not fixed.

by Horserious on 2020/09/17 06:55
Sep 16th 2020.
What’s the subscription price.
by &!!!?!what the bl--- on 2020/12/06 10:57
I love this app, and would like to use it better, perhaps with some explanations like what is a histogram and how do I use it? However when asked if I wanted to subscribe, there was no price listed, or how often....I have often gotten rid of programs that charge more than once a year, as they can often mess up bank accounts.... Also there was no explanation as to the difference for subscription or not... please respond, as I really don’t want to get rid of/ or loose this program....thank you
Easily my favorite editing app
by Krizzle711.........711 on 2020/05/06 19:03
I love this app.
