Great app as of right now this my first month using it have no problems yet let’s see this second. But over all love it!!!
Completely in accessible to the blind and visually impaired community
by ShortyJS1 on 2020/01/23 19:02
Although sling TV is affordable it cannot be used by blind consumers because of accessibility issues with screen reader called Voice over. Which is what iPad-iPhone-Apple TV uses. When trying to use the app it doesn’t tell you what channels are what or shows are on associated it. with the channel it just shows you pictures which are pointless two blind people
Interruptions

Apple TV app
by K-smooth2smooth on 2020/01/22 22:51
The Apple TV app could use some work. I have a 5th Gen Apple TV which is connected wirelessly, and is no more the 12 feet away from the wireless router. The internet plan that I have is: High Speed Extreme 300 mbps. The latest router gateway combination which is capable of getting speeds of up to 600 mbps. Despite this the Sling app for Apple TV is unreliable, it is slow at times; it freezes up and stops working; or it just does not work at all. The interface itself could use a little more work, in the DVR department. It should have it own tab at the top. Which should make it easier to get to, then everything in the tap should have to do with the shows recorded and managing the recordings. Currently you would have to go to settings; then the DVR tap with-in setting; and finally to the manage button, to be able to delete shows and movies watched without going into the show one by one to delete it. The playback features on recording also need some work. At current if you exit a recording and then come back to it, it will not always go back to the point where you left off at, most of the time it starts you back over again from the beginning. I then have to kick the app and re-open it. It sometimes works and other times does not. Which is not good if you wish to use Sling as your primary source of cable or cable substitute. This app is the only app I have issues with using on my Apple TV, so it cannot be the device itself. I have not heard anything from Sling officials on if they plan to fix this issue of its unreliable on the Apple TV app or not. So if that changes so will my rating.

Add OTA and it’s prefect!

My only complaint is that the Apple TV app doesn’t have OTA support like the iPhone app. :( sling/Apple lets make this happen!

My family and I really enjoy sling. It is cheaper then most providers, and you can watch it on the go! They also do promotions that allow you to experience channels you don’t have in your package for a week and sometimes for the month. All in all we are glad we have it!
I have never hated an app more than I hate Sling
by beanweb on 2020/01/22 02:21
I only use Sling to watch Bravo shows, and let me tell you, if I had an affordable alternative, I would use it because Sling is absolutely terrible. It crashes constantly, when I pause it and then press play on something I’m streaming or something I have recorded, it loses the spot every single time, and often times I just have to start the episode over. Truly the least reliable streaming service I have ever used. I’m honestly ashamed that I pay as much as I do for it but my love for Bravo shows outweighs my hatred for this piece of trash app.
Just like all the rest...
by Loozer Chooser on 2020/01/22 02:16
Adding channels I don’t want and charging me more per month. Sling is forgetting why people went to them in the first place. Step one...cut the cord, step two...cut Sling!
Stupid f**ked up app

Bad App Across All Platforms

This is the 2nd time I’ve tried this app in 2 years. On FireTV stick, desktop, and iPhone — both times the sound doesn’t work. Breaks. Cuts off. Comes in and out. Starts and stops.

BEWARE
by BugsBottom on 2020/01/21 16:17
BEWARE Sling + AirTV. They will steal your money. (scroll down for summary) AirTV is a device that claims to be able to take your Over The Air (OTA) local television broadcasts and then transmit them to the AirTV app or (as promoted by Sling) integrate them into your Sling App and service so that they show up with your Sling channels. This local channel integration was the main reason I went with Sling for service when I decided to leave cable. This product does not work and they will not refund my money. Sling offers a promotion for an AirTV 2 + antenna for $49 (AirTv 2 normally costs $99). You just have to commit to 3 months of Sling service to get that deal. Before I ordered, I purchased my own antenna to ensure that I could receive OTA transmissions at my house. I can and all the major networks plus a handful of other channels come in perfectly. So I ordered everything. The Sling service worked fine, so I only had to wait for my AirTV. Four days later it had arrived and I tried to set it up. First off, it only found 9 channels instead of the 13 or so my antenna found on its own. No big deal as long as the networks are all there. They weren’t. And the channels it “found” wouldn’t play through Sling. An error message would display that the antenna signal was missing or too weak. CBS did play slightly but was so juddery, pixelated, and froze too often to be usable. I moved the antenna back to the TV to check and everything came through perfectly again. I started the setup over. Same. I did a factory reset. Same. I called AirTV support and was told to do another factory reset. Same. I was continually told I needed to reposition my antenna. When I explained that stations came in fine through the TV, I was told again that the antenna needed repositioned. So I did. Same. Eventually there were a couple muttered statements about loss of signal strength through the device. I then called Sling to demand a refund and instructions to return the AirTV. The first gentleman I spoke to was very nice, but explained they had a no refund policy. I explained my situation as above. He said he had an AirTV as well and experienced some of the same issues as me and that he was told that there was a loss of signal strength when channels route through the device so that is why it probably wasn’t working. Ok, great! So it does not warn of that anywhere in the product information I could see on their website, I have no way of knowing this before I purchase it, I tested my signal with my own antenna and it was fine. Product does not work as advertised should equal refund. I asked for a supervisor. She created a ticket and said she would pass it to the billing department and they would reply to me via email within 3 business days. Great! I received the email and they stated they could not issue a refund. I called back customer service and requested to speak with a supervisor. They repeated that thy are a prepaid service and they do not issue refunds. I asked to speak with their supervisor and was told that they were the highest level. I asked to speak with a member of the billing department and was told they can’t be reached by phone and I need to email them. They refused to assist me any further or do anything to resolve my displeasure other than putting me in contact with AirTv (which I had already done and who is not the company that charged me). Then they hung up on me. I would advise against having anything to do with Sling or AirTV. - I can receive OTA TV signals with my antenna. - AirTV claims to take those signals and stream them to your Sling service. - Sling offers the AirTV at a $40 discount if you sign up for 3 months of Sling. - AFTER I receive the AirTV and find it does not work as advertised I am told there can be a loss of signal strength when the signal passes through AirTV. - I had no way to know this or test this before making the purchase. - Sling refuses to refund me and/or accept a return of the AirTV even though it does not work as advertised and I only paid for 3 months to get the AirTV. - Sling stole my money.
Works great

I have the Sling app on my phone. Love being able to watch TV on my phone while waiting at appts or traveling. I haven't had one bit of trouble while using the app. The only drawback is I’d like to be able to have at least 2 devices able to watch at the same time. We have iPads, iPhones, and 3 tv’s and our family isn’t all in the same town let alone the same room everyday. But it’s a great value for the price.
Getting Close to Perfect
by rxp214 on 2020/01/21 10:59
Just missing live tv from CBS. If this last hurdle is overcome, there will be no reason to have any other service. Picture quality meets my expectations
Mediocre
by Tonie G on 2020/01/21 04:41
It was hard to find what I wanted to watch and advertised some things I couldn’t find on there, what really made me dislike it was I decided to cancel my membership the day before being charged and was charged anyway and they pretended I cancelled it the day of getting charged just minutes after being charged, which was annoying and felt kind of like a scam. No refunds allowed which makes it feel more like a scam, now I paid for this service I wont be using at all. Most like it and i’m glad for them, just wasn’t for me.

Try anything else but sling! Literally!
by Mattbtexas on 2020/01/19 23:19
I chose sling after using YouTube TV because sling has Comedy Central history channel and MTV. The reason why I would advise you to not try sling is because of all the issues it has versus YouTube TV and obviously some cable providers. Since using sling I have encountered connection issues on a daily basis, the app will freeze at certain points. Happened 4 times on Saturday. Have to back out and restart app or turn off tv and turn back on. The shows cut out mainly the important ones like watching ufc on espn on Saturday night. Show would constantly buffer during show missing huge chunks of episode. But, the other apps like google play(movies) works great or just regular YouTube works great. YouTube TV only had one connection issue during 12 moths of use

Waste of money
by elizabethcarnell on 2020/01/18 22:38
This streaming service is ridiculous. We got this solely for live NFL streaming and we were unable to watch the games. It’s very expensive for something a lot of other places offer for cheaper. Wen I went to cancel the membership I was charged a nine dollar cancelation fee which is also insane. Highly do not recommend.
Pay more more money should have better service

My sling tv is constantly buffering . It also play commercials then when it’s time to watch the show, it kicks me off. I click on the show I’m watching commercials again. This happens all the time. I am considering canceling

Horrible if using with Chromecast
by LnJ2019 on 2020/01/18 18:23
This is the WORST app I’ve ever downloaded due to its poor casting abilities. Tried to cast to my Chromecast for 30 min this morning and ended up giving up. Wish I could say this was rare, but it happens every time I try to watch using this app. I cancelled our account and am frustrated that the last $30 they charged was basically money thrown down the toilet. Perhaps this works better on a smart TV but it doesn’t serve my needs at all.
Youtube TV comparison
by Stotrapriya on 2020/01/18 17:33
Sling is OK but not great. Some times it is stuck buffering. While watching a live TV program, one cannot pause and continue later. Recorded shows are stored in Fist in Last out order. If I have to watch my 6:30 PM recorded news of today, I have to scroll down all the way to watch today’s recording which is very annoying. In that respect Youtube TV is better.

The nerve
by Dj Secret on 2020/01/18 01:09
I’ve been a customer of sling for a year or so and with all the updates in that time, nothing has changed. Except offering free DVR. Which I don’t need. I’d rather the app work. I use it on fire stick, iPad, and roku. Same results. It’s very glitchy and constantly crashes. It will give you a hint when it’s going to crash by getting pixelated. Thanks. Sling has just sent out an email saying they’re raising the prices. How dare they. I’m almost at my wits end. Unfortunately the area I live in doesn’t offer many options. And sling is the only service that offers NBCSN. If you have other options use those before sling.

App freeze
by netgroper on 2020/01/17 22:54
I like the service and choice of channels available. I’m just disappointed with the apps on Roku and fire tv. I expect occasional delays or buffering based on my connection but the apps freeze or crash 2 or 3 times a day. It can happen during a show out of nowhere or when I’m changing channels. My phone app is very reliable with almost no crashes. Watching with a web browser is the most reliable but requires more interaction to control.
Can’t beat Sling
by Dadrunken1 on 2020/01/17 22:51
I would recommend Sling to anyone. It had all the channels I wanted and more. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because of how glitchy the channels can be while watching.
Needs a to of work
by MadRyantist on 2020/01/17 22:28
Half of the time, the main page on the app wont load. Every single show i have ever watched on this app cuts off the last minute of the show and once i am able to return to the channel it has already moved to the next show. I cannot express the level of frustration not being able to see the ending of ANYTHING is causing. Sling... get your act together and fix this horribly crappy app
A lot to desire!
by Glad to say goodbye on 2020/01/17 22:25
Sling is very slow. It buffers a lot and will shut off instantly right in the middle of viewing. I continued my subscription only because the cost was so low. Well folks Sling is substantially increasing their rates this month so it’s time to start shopping around. I would rather pay more to another streaming provider than to pay an increase to Sling TV. Sling is lousy!!!! If you’re thinking about trying SlingTV , I highly recommend you look around at other providers and don’t waste your time or money on SlingTV.
Interface was never user friendly.
by Kenfifteen on 2020/01/17 17:10
I think that it’s awful you guys are raising the prices of your services; when said services have been underperforming and hindering a lot of peoples’ experiences. This platform hasn’t improved since its inception.

Low quality stream and potentially hard to cancel
by team frigg on 2020/01/16 02:04
There are much better streaming options out there and I highly recommend YouTube TV as an alternative to sling. When streaming high demand shows that a lot of people are watching the stream quality becomes atrocious and the app has historically been unstable. Also if you try to cancel your subscription using the wrong web browser then your cancel might not take and they’ll bill you for another month even if you contact support the day you’re renewed. For anyone who wants to stream anything don’t go to sling virtually any other outfit is better and worth the extra price.
Love it
by Harnold69 on 2020/01/15 16:39

DVR needs improvement
by dalprin on 2020/01/14 03:58
Great service. DVR functionality is terrible. Needs major improvements. Pay too much for this service for the DVR to only work correctly 25% of the time and not record shows that are scheduled to be recorded. It’s almost a deal breaker.

Sports video quality
by Da Tater tot on 2020/01/14 03:05
The channel options for sports are great, but when I watch sports on sling it freezes up a lot and the video quality gets blurry. Nothing on Netflix does this so I can’t blame my internet provider. I have a top of the line Sony and Samsung TV and neither of them like this app apparently. I also tried using this on an Apple TV.

Help
by Grunt Marine on 2020/01/12 23:54
Can anyone tell me why the following happens with this app on my TV while on the Apple TV platform. First, if your watching a series like Ink Masters and there are 12 episodes why when you watch say episode 1 does it not automatically que up the next one like Netflix does ? And is there no way to go back to the main menu? Most frustrating unless I am missing something this app needs some refinement to work smoother.
Good value
by cmm472 on 2020/01/12 21:50
I have used Sling off and on over the last couple of years and enjoy it. Epix Drive-In is included in all the packages and I added Hollywood Extra so that I could watch TCM, most of the add-ons cost $5. I had Sling Orange and switched to Blue because it has more of the channels that I like to watch for the same price. I have never had problems with buffering or freezing over a fast network connection and have used it on Roku and Amazon devices, I like the Amazon set-up the best. There is a good on demand library and they also rent new releases. It’s about half the price of Hulu Live and You Tube TV, probably because it doesn’t have local channels, but it’s an excellent way to save money on your TV bill. ADDED: They added DVR and raised the price $5 but now we can skip advertisements. I sampled Hulu Live and You Tube TV again before deciding. Sling Blue actually has a better channel lineup and costs quite a bit less. The interface is a little clunky but none of them are perfect. There is not a Fox affiliate in my region but I would like to see them add at least one network for local channels. Otherwise, it’s pretty darn good.

This is a great alternative to expensive cable. I use it with an over the air antenna for local programming and an occasional network program on NBC that I want to watch immediately It is fairly convenient to use. I would like to see an option to split screen with live viewing and the channel guide. But other than that it’s great!

Recording is horrible
by jake937373 on 2020/01/11 14:25
Without fail, every time I try to record a game and watch it, it jumps forward and I inadvertently see the score. Recordings lag and freeze also. Will switching back to Hulu live. Much more consistent. Also not very user friendly. Difficult to find content etc. Price and content is ok (reason for 2 stars, instead of 1)

...no unusual issues. The FireTV/Android application, not so much. Freezes, blackouts out and regularly crashes. The only issue that prevents me from giving five stars. If they chased down and corrected these issues on all their platforms, I would have no complaints. They have improved their stability recently, so it appears they do invest in continuous improvement. I hope they continue and accelerate. -Alex 20+ year IT/technology support tech.
Problem with Fox News Channel blanks out a lot like it lost Streaming Signal
by mypenneys on 2020/01/10 16:28
Fox News Live I love but it blanks out a lot on my Nvida Shield Tv where my Sling Tv App is on. I have 3 Nvida Shield Tv Boxes With Sling App so the problem is not my Verizon Internet or my Nvida Boxes. Really Upsets me. The only channels we watch our Hallmark and History channel and Discovery & Fox and the only channel that blanks out like loss of signal is Fox News Live the Political Channel.

Our Family Enjoys this Service
by Babygirl 07 on 2020/01/10 16:13
I be had Sling for years , like it better than any of the other services. Easy to move around to find shows or channels. I also have DVR which I enjoy. Wish I was not so limited to what I can record. Love the channels that I get, just wish Sling could offer USA, Animal Planet and TLC. I like the prices for the packages. Absolutely no hidden fees or late fees.
Best Value for Live TV
by A504G on 2020/01/10 13:33
Been a Sling subscriber for over 5 years now. The flexibility provided by far the best option today for paid live tv. If you’re still holding onto cable/satellite, WHY?!? That’s so 2013! Cut the cord NOW and experience freedom.
a great service. app is hot garbage.
by An app reviewer ok on 2020/01/10 02:37
I want to love sling. but it so often disappoints. it crashes between every. single. program. So you constantly have to restart it. also the guide is the least intuitive format imaginable. but, you know, still beats paying for cable. the lowest bar there is.
Too much buffing

I’m laughing i received a email saying they’ve made changes looks like the prices for sling went up ... how is the makers for this app making changes with the pricing but this app buffs glitches screen goes black on the middle of a movie or tv show 👎 seems as if this app will never get better I’m unsubscribing y’all will NOT be getting any more of my money!
Best ever!
by shunkala on 2020/01/09 23:45
We cut the cord 2 years ago and subscribed to Sling TV. We have not been disappointed. It’s great because for $25 you have basic cable! You can totally customize your feed by adding sports, movies, kids programming, etc for a fraction of what a cable provider would charge. No weather outages, solar flare interference or interruption of service. It’s great ! There is no contract. No equipment rental fees. All you need is a $50 streaming device like Roku or Fire to get going. Do it! You won’t regret it!
It’s okay

The channels are good it’s just when I watch something it skips a piece of the show I’m watching
Doesn’t work and customer service is beyond ridiculous
by STKFAMILY on 2020/01/09 19:01
I’ve contacted customer service four different times because our account won’t work on any tv or device. I’ve been told over and over (after doing all the sign outs, resets Etc) that engineering will fix it. It’s been 3 months and we haven’t been able to watch a thing. It never gets fixed and no one ever contacts me back.
Keep track of where you were
by NayNay1286 on 2020/01/09 18:58
It would be so much better if sling kept track of where the viewer left off in a user friendly way.
Sling is ok
by Genna128 on 2020/01/09 03:36
We use sling because it’s cheaper than Comcast for sure! It has a lot of channels i like. The only reason why I’m giving it 3 starts instead of 5 is because it always goes black and then u have to wait till it refreshes. It also kicks me off then i gotta get back on. If they would fix those glitches i would definitely be leaving a 5 star review. For now it’s 3 because those glitches happen everyday.
We need abc and cbs!

Annoying
by Ivery 🙎🏾 on 2020/01/08 17:33
I am not sure why sling takes so long to load, or why the channels buff so much so often. I've upgraded my internet TWICE now to fix this issue YET it is still a problem. The other day, none of my channels were working. What's going on!! This did not use to be an issue!!
Will raise to 5 starts when small issue fixed
by -Jeff007- on 2020/01/08 15:27
Wonderful app and TV service. My biggest but smallest issue is the inability to have more control over how the “Guide” sorts the channels. When you scroll thru the channels it makes not sense initially (to a new Sling TV subscriber) as to how Sling TV is sorting them. I can only guess they are sorting them by category first and then alphanumerically. This is difficult to tell because there are no subheadings as you scroll to indicate this. I wish they would add subheadings such as “News”, “Lifestyle”, “Sports” to each category as you scroll in the guide. However, my real wish is that they add the ability to sort everything alphanumerically and/or by category and display it as such in a much more clear way. For now, all I can do is mark my favorite channels as such to minimize scrolling but seems like Sling TV could really do much better here with this annoyance. Also, my Roku player puts ALL of my favorite channels at the top of the guide but this app keeps them in their original position/location. Very annoying to have to always do additional scrolling to find them. Best thing about this app that Sling TV did right compared to just about every streaming service out there; you can directly control the video quality within the app and it ACTUALLY does significantly and consistently reduce bandwidth consumption and this setting stays the same until you change it again, it does NOT default back to original settings when you do other things in the app or when you restart it. This is a must for me to keep me from hitting my deprioritized data threshold with my mobile data plan.
Pretty much flawless
by JAVIEREXEQUIEL on 2017/12/12 04:29
So first of all I just don’t write reviews. But I just had to do it because the app deserves it. It’s really good. Second I was skeptical about the services they provide. I didn’t know much. But once I found out more and signed up for it, it’s what they advertise. It is tv a la carte. I signed up for the Spanish channels and I even get an Argentinian channel I can’t get anywhere else. When it comes the app, it is flawless. It simply never crashes. Regardless of what channel I watch it always comes up without any problems. Once you choose the channel, you have to option to watch the program that’s on form the start, to start it over, or to watch it live. Once you stop watching, you can always come back to the same spot. It saves your programs so you can come back later and pick right up where you left off. You can do that with countless shows. You can also watch from a different source. If I’m watching on my phone, and stop watching, I can watch from the iPad or the Apple TV app and watch it also without any problems. Tv quality is fantastic too. You also don’t have to sing on every single time. I haven’t to sing in or log in since I first logged in months ago. This service along with the apps in the different platforms are simply seamless. It’s really one of the best, if not the best I have on all platforms. It’s literally fantastic. 10/10.
Great Service!
by RCRussell on 2018/03/15 14:48
So far, my family and I are really enjoying this service. In my line of work, there can be times where there is absolutely no work and so I have the time to watch a show or two. While there are a few glitches while watching, I hardly ever come across these issues. For what it is as a whole, I couldn’t be happier with this service. I know there are a bunch of negative reviews, but honestly I think there might be something wrong on their end of the spectrum. As with any company there is always room for improvement on quality. Besides the rare glitch that I have noticed, I have no issue with this service as I have had with certain cable companies that charge the hell out of their customers. We don’t even have upgrade channels and still paying almost $200 a month. Keep up the good work Sling.
Great potential, horrible results.
by Briannajoy248 on 2017/11/26 08:22
The concept of sling is great. An app that allows you to watch your favorite shows live and on demand, where ever and when ever, without all the equipment, hidden fees and insane contracts that regular cable a satellite providers are know for. It's a great concept, if sling was able to deliver. They don't though. There's still many channels that sling doesn't offer, like spike and TLC. They also don't offer the big channels like CBS,NBC, ABC, Fox, etc. The on demand shows rarely work, the app usually crashes. Often times it will crash in the middle or towards the end of a show, and the only way to ever see the end is to restart it from the beginning and pray you make it to the end before it crashes again. There are symbols that you'd assume were fast forward/rewind/pause buttons, but they don't do anything when you press them. Sometimes the pause button works, but the app crashes when you try to resume. So if the app crashes 5 minutes before the end of your show, you can either restart it from the beginning, or move on with your life and never see the ending. Take my advice, spend the extra money and go with a provider like dish or direct TV. Sling may be cheaper, but it's not worth $20-$40 a month considering it barely works. Spend the extra money of a different tv provider, at least their products and services function properly and you get all the channels you want and not just a few.
Zero customer service
by Pgsus on 2019/06/05 13:49
I had sling for a month and a half. The first two weeks it was great then it started being glitchy. One day it completely stopped functioning, the little thinking wheel just kept turning and nothing was happening. I tried everything I reset my device, my internet, rest my account downloaded the app three more times , etc etc. I called customer service they told me to do everything I’ve already done which was fine, then they tell me there must be an update on the app that they need to look into so they have to escalate the matter to the engineering department. I said ok sure thinking it will be fixed maybe later in the day or next day. I called again after 3 days still same answer. A week later I’m getting frustrated because there is no follow up on their end and the app still doesn’t work. I call to cancel and was hoping like any other professional and ethical company that cares about their customers and customer satisfaction they would compensate me but they said the couldn’t unfortunately but can remove any new charges to my account. I was appalled!!! How can you ask a customer to pay for a service that isn’t working? It wasn’t about the money it was more about the principle. Oh and that was me talking to the manager who apparently has no authority to do anything. Unprofessional and extremely disappointing!!! Will never use them ever again.
WORST SERVICE EVER
by Dutchgirlmel on 2019/01/14 05:08
Your on demand programs crash and won’t cast to the TV, and in spite of several attempts via customer service to escalate the matter to get them resolved, after nearly a month, nothing has been resolved - even with proper error codes provided. To make matters worse, your customer service department says that you don’t credit back for the services you have failed to provide. This is INCREDIBLY unethical when a customer signs up in good faith to get a service and the provider fails to correct a problem, then adds insult to injury by saying they can’t credit back anything! The worst part of all is that I paid for your service unawares for 3 YEARS and never once used it until I researched charges on my bank account, and in good faith decided to try it out anyways - without complaint - and even upgraded the service to add STARZ and it doesn’t even stream on-demand without error codes and crashes (I never have gotten to watch a single on-demand show to it’s end). On-demand is the only reason I want this service to begin with, and your company simply can’t provide it- as is evidenced by bad review after bad review on Apple’s App Store! Your so-called customer service reps keep saying “sorry, but there are no refunds” and nothing ever gets fixed. What kind of business are you running there? This is outrageous!
A swing and a miss
by Bound4Pleasure on 2019/10/23 02:58
I like the idea of Sling and I like the service WHEN it works! Was better in beginning but worse for last couple of months, and always well below ideal. There’s the frequent rebooting and streaming lags. Last couple months app will start recording 30 mins into a one hour show. Very frustrating!! But the WORST thing is that recorded shows almost NEVER play back on Chromecast and often won’t play back on Firestick. I occasionally watch content on my phone when on the move. But who wants to watch all of their recorded shows that way just because it won’t play back on big screen via chromecast/fire stick (because the service they paid for won’t perform as advertised)! SLING, do whatever is necessary to make your app actually work with Chromecast and Fire Stick, or at least honestly advertise that these platforms will likely not work. Customer service is completely useless and apparently only there for appearances, and all of the many negative reviews doesn’t seem to bother Sling at all. As a last resort I’m hoping Sling responds to my review and makes a good faith effort to improve situation. If so I will change my rating &review. If not I will dump Sling like radioactive waste! Sadly I won’t hold my breath.
Flawless.... if the app worked.
by kmgjjr0510 on 2019/11/29 04:23
I don’t normally write reviews but after being a paying customer for over a year I’m about done with sling. Don’t dare try to watch anything on demand. The app constantly crashes especially if you’re using your cellphone. Doesn’t matter if you have the greatest cellphone provider along with WiFi just don’t even bother because you’re not going to be able to watch an entire show no matter what. It typically crashes towards the middle to end so if you want to watch anything you’re better off dvr’ing it and then watching it on a smart tv or Xbox. It’s a joke honestly. Unfortunately for us where we live we don’t get very many options as far as cable providers and WiFi providers. If sling doesn’t up their game we will be switching to direct tv now. Only reason I haven’t switched is because sling is the provider my autistic children have been raised on and big changes like that make for weeks of meltdowns. So frustrating when you pay for a service and get less than 1/2 of what you’re paying for. It’s like buying a bag of chips. You pay for more air than actual food.
Cheating! Misleading advertisement And bad customer service experience!
by Java learner on 2018/09/25 14:02
They sell fast and sell aggressively but provide no good support compared toother streaming services, i have tried all of them but Sling is the worst. There is t any option to give lower than 1 star here. I like to watch live cricket matches. There was an offer where you can buy Annual Willow tv package for little cheaper. So i bought it. After few days i realized Willow tv was not showing the live match. Instead it was showing some old match highlights. And then i saw bottom message that as per willow tv and sling tv partnership they cannot show the live match. Then, the willow tv on Sling is showing different matches than you take Original Willow Tv subscription from their website. This is misleading. When i contact them to discontinue subscription after 3 days. I asked i can remain subscribed for this month but i dont need Annual package. They said you can not discontinue Annual package. WILLOW TV CHANNEL AND WILLOW TV ON SLING SHOWS DIFFERENT PROGRAMS SO DONT GET ATTRACTED TO CHEAPER PACKAGES, YOU WILL BE STUCKED. Suppose tv streaming company tells you about new offer where you can watch HBO channel for $10 a month. You would buy it and then you realize that HBO channel showing old programs. How would you feel?
Sling TV Services
by snmvogue on 2019/11/29 17:02
I use SlingTv with my smart tv and I must say that this has been a horrible experience. I attempted to call the customer service number for troubleshooting and the service professionals were extremely dismissive about the glitches that I detailed. When watching any program that has commercials, be prepared to be interrupted with 2 minute buffer and blackout periods. This is such an inconvenience as it subtracts from being able to have a seamless viewing experience. By the time that the program returns from the blackout/commercial break I’m completely exhausted and lost about what I was watching and where I left off. I would be far more satisfied if Sling would fix this issue. If I must be subjected to commercials, they should play from beginning to end without stopping and starting then blacking out for two minutes before returning to the program. It’s exhausting and often times I’ve fallen asleep simply because the tv blacked out for so long! It’s very frustrating and the sling representatives were unhelpful and unwilling to offer any sort of compensation for this issue even though I’d only had the service for 2 days. I feel like I’ve been ripped off and I will not stop until my voice is heard!
Works fairly well
by Mdriftda on 2019/01/17 17:26
I just recently switched to sling TV from DIRECTV in order to save cost every month. The one thing I will say is that when playing back episodes on A&E the screen tends to freeze and the video stops playing all the audio continues this happens a lot I have to restart the app to get it to come back I reinstalled the app a few times as well but it still happening not sure if it’s the one episode or if it’s a continuous issue I will update for sure but the developer may need to look at their on-demand video playback. The other thing that’s a little frustrating is that I can’t use my sling login on A&E to watch videos on their app since their app has no problems. I’m guessing more so this is a cable company contract a conundrum then something that sling has control over but it would be nice if I could use my sling cable subscription to login to all of the channels apps as well just like I used to with DIRECTV. I will also say that slings mobile app is much better than DIRECTV which has got to be one of the worst in the business
Update Failed
by lg.... on 2019/08/18 17:19
I love the concept of the app and didn’t mind the minor issues. This recent update stopped the revolving favorites list, which I appreciate. Unfortunately, this update has made this app almost useless. It’s continually glitching up. In the shows with limited functionality you could generally go back if it skipped over something, no longer. It stops playing video, but continues playing sound and the app must be closed to sink them. I thought perhaps it was the channels I was watching. So today two hours ago I tried to finish 17 minutes of one show on a less stable channel, watch a 23 minute show on a fairly stable channel, and watch a 45 minute show on a very stable channel. As of now I managed to finish with difficulty the first show, not get past the preview to the second show, and some where between 15 and 20 into the third show. It glitched up again, so I decided to review the app. If this is not fixed soon, I will likely have to cancel my subscription. I did give it three stars because until two days ago, it was a pretty good app.
Terrible.
by FrustratedManager on 2018/08/17 21:07
My family uses Sling at home with no problems. The app for XBOX works amazing. However, the iPhone app is GARBAGE. No matter where we are or what kind of connection we have the app crashes constantly across all our devices- tablets, phones, laptops, everything but the XBOX. For every 30 seconds of show you’re able to watch there is at least a minute of buffering. All the buffering and trying to get a better connection absolutely kills our battery percentage. Your typical trouble-shooting measures like reinstalling the app and upgrading your network connection do nothing. I’ve tried downloading and using the apps for the individual channels I like, but Sling doesn’t work with any of them so unlike other cable services I am unable to use those apps as an alternative when the Sling app is down. Also, again unlike the XBOX app, you are unable to skip through commercials and they play the same one over and over and over and over and over. Sling as a cable service is great, however their iPhone app is HORENDOUS.
Cut the cord with sling saving $100 a month
by cfwguy on 2018/03/22 06:50
I have sling blue for $25 a month it allows 3 screens simultaneously and is not ip linked(you can stream away from home). I recently convinced my parents to ditch cable and sling is a great substitute for us. The only downside is it lags when streamed via chromecast (I have a gen 1 chromecast so that could be why) otherwise playback via iPhones/iPads is great as well as on the Xbox one s my family’s main media hub. I would like there to be a way to continuously stream episodes but I get that they are trying to not strain their servers with unattended streams (It would be nice for this to be fixed but it likely isn’t going to happen). I’m happy with this service DISH is definitely on the right track with sling hopefully it remains as affordable as it is now! I am trying to get my family and friends to use streaming services like this to gut their cable bill with sling and a OTA antenna you can easily save $1,200-1,800 a year put that money to good use elsewhere.
Inconsistent functionality
by Tall drink of Sailor on 2019/04/30 01:05
I’m reporting inconsistency on this app on all platforms be it apple, Samsung tv, or google play store. Here’s my issue. First of all the system won’t let me record a specific program. That program being any Formula 1 race. I can record almost everything else I want except for F1. I have to watch it as a past program only if I don’t catch it live. Doing this prevents me from fast forwarding. Normally I would be ok with this but the “resume” feature does not work @ all! So if I pause or exit the stream that I’m in the program will start itself over every time no matter which device I start or resume from. This is obviously frustrating not to mention how sluggish & unresponsive the commands are from my remote ...& it not my tv cause every other app works fine & does not crash nearly as much. I deleted all unnecessary data & have everything set to auto update & it’s still glitchy. As of right now I regret paying for Sling TV. I hope they can fix this because they have a good thing that could easily turn customers away to other platforms if they don’t fix this.
Great Start, Needs Improvement
by Bama52 on 2018/10/13 15:44
Sling has great potential, and with some improvements, it could be a great app. The improvements needed would include PiP. As far as I know, Sling is the only streaming app that does not take advantage of PiP used with the iPad. Therefore, I have to shut the app down when I need to check email or try to do other tasks. A comment made by one of their competitors, when I checked to see if their app has PiP, was, they didn’t think Sling had the technical know how to do PiP. I’m beginning to wonder if that is true. There is no clock to see the time. You can get a general idea of the time based on the show you are watching, but to get the specific time, again, you have to shutdown the app. In fact, I had to shutdown the app to write this review that the app asked me to write. I feel disconnected when using the app due to having to shut it down just to check on various items. The app hangs and/or shuts down. I have missed many “good parts” due to the app either hanging up or just completely shutting down on its own.
Great service, okay app
by JMDragonWake on 2019/10/11 23:27
I really enjoy using Sling in lieu of cable to watch live and recent TV, but doing so on the iPhone can be annoying at times. For one thing, the menus are confusing: Suppose I want to watch CNN live. Should I look under “My TV,” “On Now,” “Guide,” or “Channels”? The interface doesn’t make it easy to watch the channels I view most often. It also cuts out at breaks between live shows, forcing me to refresh the app to watch the next program. On some channels, that maybe makes sense, but on news networks program boundaries aren’t supposed to be so disruptive. One of my biggest gripes though is that the audio doesn’t pause when I receive or accept phone calls. Every self-respecting audio or video app silences playback during phone calls, but Sling keeps the show blaring in the background as you try to talk to the person on the other end. I like my Sling subscription but I really hope they make some improvements to the app.
$110 in monthly saving from previous provider
by Erik Schutz on 2019/09/21 06:21
I tried sling a little over a year ago and originally didn’t like it because they didn’t have the current sports package they do now. So glad I gave it a second chance I pay $130 less a month then what I was paying with direct tv and have access to game being aired across the country no black outs or bs like that. I had to pay and extra $20 buck a month to get unlimited wireless internet so I guess it really only saves me $110 a moth... haha I don’t pay extra for NFL red zone and have access to the largest archive of tv shows when I want to watch a rerun than any other app or service available. I have a HBO and Netflix subscription but recently realized I Don’t need Netflix and am over game of thrones so I’ll be canceling both after this month. I honestly couldn’t be happier.
Heads up Sling has got to do better.
by BrookylnnSkyy on 2020/01/08 11:08
There is some glitches on this app the channels where you can watch things on demand like a series would say season 2 with 8 episodes only to click on it and it not be that. Not the first time it has happened. Then on live tv it will say one thing is on only for it to be something else other than what it is. This app takes 30 bucks off my debit card monthly why should I as a customer have these issues? Yea it’s a lot cheaper than cable but if I did decide to switch to cable tv I wouldn’t have this issue. Also another thing I been having this app now for over 6 months update the on demand options. The same thing is on their from when I first got this app. Do the creator of sling even watch sling to know that these issues are there?
Good but tv app trash
by SammyyMV on 2019/03/13 01:05
I like sling - although the apple app is great the tv one is trash . We downloaded the sling app for our Samsung curve 65” . If watching live tv it’s fine but watching previous season of a show it constantly stops and blacks out, then returns, it restarts, it black outs and freezes blacked out, etc . It also is slow when receiving remote control signals . Like I click down down and it’s stuck at the top . It takes a few tries to pause a show also . I thought it was the reponte and went to a different app - perfectly fine . I don’t know if it’s does the same rn for recoded shows but for previous on demand shows it’s trash . So frustrating . Please fix it . We’re paying $54/m the same for cable - an cable doesn’t cause these issues . So please fix otherwise you’ve lost out services and I’ll make sure family and friends are aware of these issues and recommend they stay away from sling . Thank you.
Beware of the time stamp....
by Danniedoll Nichol on 2018/01/10 01:05
I signed up for a free trial, some of the shows played well some would cut off right in the middle of live tv and forget watching “on demand items” you aren’t even able to fast forward without it kicking you off or freezing. And you better make sure you cancel tour free trial at the precise time that it says to cancel or else it will charge you at hat very moment. I cancelled my account 10 minutes too late and while scrambling to figure out who to contact and cancel the chat room representative tells me that she couldn’t couldn’t refund my services because I was presently in streaming mood. 🤔 that makes zero sense. Not an hour later 10 minutes later! And because I was presently streaming something she told me she couldn't cancel it. I figured they would just stop the service right at that second and cut it off the tv...that’s what a cable company would do. That to me made no sense. And for that I would give them a 0 In customer service. They say beware the fine print, in this case beware the time stamp!
Decent but has annoying bugs
by Turners16 on 2017/11/06 13:46
I like the fact that I can take television wherever I go with this app, but it’s sometimes unreliable. The app won’t even start some days and at other times it cuts off in the middle of whatever I’m watching. It also sometimes jumps backwards in time, particularly when I watch the news on CNN. For example, at 9:59 PM, the show I was watching will revert to the beginning of the hour instead of continuing on the 10 PM show. I have to close the app and restart to watch the 10 PM program. It’s been a constant frustration. Overall, it’s a good alternative to cable, and I have the networks I most want to watch. I hope they find a way to work out the annoying bugs in the app soon.
Worst customer service ever!
by MetallicatCFH on 2018/08/29 01:56
I do not have a problem with the product itself, it is a decent product. But after being sold devices that I did not need this is when things went terribly wrong! Over a 3 day period, at least 10 phone calls, and several hours of my time I continually explained that I was sold devices I didn’t need and could not perform the functions I was told they could. I was repeatedly given the same stock answers has if everyone there was reading from the same script, operators and supervisors alike. There was nothing anyone there could do, there was no customer satisfaction to be had. And if I really wanted to I could send the equipment back at my own cost! They made no attempt to make the situation right or even offer to take a single penny off the bill. Just kept saying there was nothing they could do and that there was nobody in the company who could even give a return. I highly doubt that! These people have no respect for their customers and will out right lie in your face! Buyer beware!
Terrible
by WantsToWatchSports on 2018/01/13 18:27
This service is terrible. It's saving grace is that it's the only major streaming service I've found that doesn't have ESPN and thus is affordable (I don't need ESPN). If you're looking for a package with ESPN, there is absolutely no reason you should be using sling TV. IF you can get the app to load a program you're trying to watch, it very often will not load it to a Chromecast. Just a spinning orange loading screen. It's impossible to watch a program on demand as the app is guaranteed to crash at sometime in the program everytime. What make this worse is neither of the "resume watching" or fast forward function have ever worked, so your only option is to start the program over from the beginning. Incredibly frustrating. I had this app for several months but couldn't stand wasting my money anymore and cancelled as I couldn't believe that they'd done nothing to fix the multitude of problems that this thing has. Save yourself the frustration and go with literally any other streaming service.
I would give a ZERO if i could...
by COMBAT VETERAN - US ARMY on 2018/01/09 23:04
I tried the free trial and was very disappointed, it kept having to buffer and it froze alot. So I cancelled the free trial online and it showed that it had been cancelled. Then 3 months later i find out that it actually never cancelled and that they have been charging me $30 something dollars a month and i called customer service so i could get my money back and the represenative over the phone was very rude and had an attidude and kept saying they couldnt do anything about it. I asked to speak to a manager and the representative over the phone again says he cant do anything about it. So at this time i guess i got screwed out $90 dollars but im on here to tell everyone “DO NOT” get sling tv!!! You all should check out VADER STREAMS or NITRO TV. You get 1700 channels including all these channels that sling makes you pay extra for and only for $20 Check em out!!! Well i guess it is what it is and as long as at least 1 person doesnt get sling b/c of my review then thats worth my $90 dollars that they stole from me. Deuce!!! XD
WORST INTERNATIONAL INDIAN CHANNEL SERVICE
by IT SM on 2019/11/06 03:44
Whenever these Sling people do an update there is some flaw included with their patch, always their indian channels or any other games channels come hanging and the orange ring keeps turning and it gives an error message of 4-310 or 4-410 when we tried to reach their customer service all they give are lame and dumb excuses as restart your app or delete app and re install it, I have told them I work in IT security and I know how all you guys work and what they come up is we will let our engineering department know and they will try and fix the issue on 1-2 weeks time or it may take more, am like you must me joking with me and she said no mam., she sure doesn’t know what the hell she is talking about., Sling you either close your service or fix and dam bugs right away and let our parents watch indian TV channels and news with no issue., this is absurd, train your people fully and fix the issue 1-2 week to fix and issue? Cut the crap I will tell all my friend not to have Sick Sling no more
Great service, get another device
by rossbballin on 2017/11/04 06:13
Sling TV in itself is a good cable alternative because you get what you want for the price you want to pay. I have had hardly any complaints about their service in itself. I pay $35 a month for all the sports I ever watch, which is just about unbeatable. However, the connection using the app is abysmal. The first couple months I streamed everything through my google chromecast but then it started glitching out after about 2 months. It was unwatchable and Sling’s average customer service reps had no good solutions for me. The right answer after discovering I was not the only one having this issue is that sling does not stream well using that type of device. I bought a Roku stick and the difference in performance as well as picture is night and day. So that’s why I say this app in itself is below average at best but when utilizing the proper platform, sling is an affordable service very much worth considering.
The idea is great and the service is affordable - but not always usable.
by Tmareee on 2017/11/12 03:43
We signed up a couple months ago and would use it with our Apple hdmi hook-up on the tv and it worked pretty well. No error messages at that time - it would, however, take a long time to start a channel and sometimes i would have to shut the app off, and restart several times before it would start up. My iPhone 8 auto-updated the app and now I get the ‘screen-mirroring’ message which makes the app unusable for me. Very frustrating. I don’t like paying for a service that is so glitchy and now completely useless. If this ever gets fixed I will sign back up because I like having the hallmark channel for the Christmas movies but it looks like that won’t happen this year. I hope the technical issues get fixed. It’s really a great idea and a good value when it works!
Pretty Much What We Needed I guess
by JessieMetcalf on 2019/12/08 05:07
Update: Changed my rating after dealing with awful customer service rep. I noticed that all of my shows had two or three extra long commercial breaks and when the show would come back on, it was like I had missed several scenes. Turns out Sling was airing their own commercials after the live program has returned to the show. What? I’m paying for TV and missing a third of the show so Sling can make money from me and it’s own commercials? Nope. When I explained this to the representative they were incredibly rude and said they weren’t going to fix my issue but could tell me how to turn the app off and back on. Completely ridiculous. My family enjoys sling tv. We use it on our smart tv and our iPads. It does freeze occasionally, has a few blurry channels during high demand hours, and it often crashes a time or two at start up. However, despite that, it works for us since we don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on channels we don't care about. We love the selection of shows available to "watch now" and many of the channels are ones we would choose to buy if we could pick individuals. I do wish they had more 'add on' channels available, but that is probably a dish contract stipulation. Hopefully more will be added in the future. I only gave it four stars because they could do even more to make the channel set individualized.
POOR CUSTOMER SURVICE, pray you don’t have a problem if you sign up.
by Pismw on 2018/11/28 04:16
so, let me start with Sling is a great “idea”, allows me to watch sports when I’m not tie to one tv. HOWEVER, it has happened to me multiple times that Sling wouldn’t start, or just wouldn’t let me click on ANY channels, saying it wasn’t available in my region (which is obviously not the reason, I was in the states, using regular WiFi) And when you contact the support (either on phone, or with chat), all they tell you to do is, restart your app, restart your website, delete your app and reinstall, restart you phone. Which, I tried all of it, and none of it helped. And then they’ll just say sorry, while your problem is unresolved, unexplained. It makes me feel like they don’t value their service nor their costumer. So yeah, I’m an upset paying customer. All I’m saying is you better hope your service never have problem, because when they do, you might not have a solution and just wasting money.
It keeps crashing.
by Don31476 on 2019/11/08 03:31
This app used to be great, but ever since iOS 13 it is glitchy and crash-prone garbage. Across the board, on all my devices, this app will not work for longer than 10 minutes before something happens. Do you like watching television with audio? If so, don’t use this app because the sound drops out every third word. Do you enjoy not having the news freeze? Well, you’re not in luck here. The news will freeze right when the information that you were waiting for begins. The upside though is that after the freeze, you get to restart the app 4-5 times and it will still not work. This is followed by restarting the device of your choosing to 2-3 times - still no luck. The cool thing is that you get to miss out on the information that you waited to here over and over. However, the silver lining is that it never seems to crash during commercials. If you like watching commercials on-the-go, then the Sling TV app is for you.
Atrocious for Nhl hockey. HATE IT
by Scampbell18 on 2019/04/21 21:13
SLING! PLEASE READ I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE I upgraded to blue plan plus news and sports add ons so I could get all of the NHL playoffs. Two days into playoffs and I’m completely regretting not going with directTV or something else. The games have been going blacked out before they end, the streaming keeps tearing, and the app on my appleTV has been locking up and freezing my whole AppleTV. I can’t get any customer service on the phone because they only allow for online chat, I spent a half hour waiting for them and then another half hour chatting through the issues. I hope someone at the company reads these so they can fix these bugs so I can watch the games and see the last two minutes and overtimes. Hugely disappointed and I never write reviews, I’m just hoping they are reading this and can get their programmers on the issues. UPDATE: I HATE this app!!! It’s infuriating!! The games keep going black minutes before the game is over!!!!! FIX IT!!!
Very poor service
by Durjay on 2018/02/10 13:44
I am a subscriber of sports channels in Sling and very sorry to inform that, the pathetic service that Sling is providing will soon make me to run away from it. Their Bot support is a smoke scree, one of the worst bots may be prepared during medieval time . Tried to reach out to them and they have a timing for that as well. I waited too call them for the next day(my match was gone) They don’t pick the call. There was no other way for me to reach out other than writing this review. I wanted to switch streaming on my phone to my tv, after that it is complaining it can’t play as it exhausted the max connection. If that is the case Why on earth I cannot have control to shut connection that’s part of my home WiFi router or that belongs to my account ? Is it such a big deal ? To resolve this why on earth I have to face your sub standard Bots Or in fact your service that I am experiencing ? I am shocked to see the rating of this app 4.4 out of 5 average. Is it the Bot effect ?
Regarding My Satisfaction with SLING TV,,,
by COOL G-ma on 2018/02/05 22:45
I really like Sling TV, but I am unable to acquire the basic TV Channels of ABC NBC CBS CNN FOXNEWS, etc. But, I was wrong. This Sling TV app, was suggested to me from an employee at Best Buy’s Electronics Dept., & that I would be satisfied with this app. Well, I can get channels that I always enjoyed on cable TV, prior to my moving, but those channels were ALL of the Hallmark Channels, HGTV, DIY, Food Network, and others that I enjoy. But I am unable to acquire the major networks, and FOXNEWS Channel. Once I get to my sister’s, until I actually find where I will eventually relocate.....she has no televisions in her home. Therefore, the service of this SLING TV, will not really meet my needs. I may very possibly be searching for another TV APP, hat will provide me with more of what my needs really are. Otherwise, the channels that are on SLING TV, are OK....but not sufficient for all that I’m needing.
Works Great! ....if....
by Use3hits on 2017/12/10 23:36
We love it! Our current channel line-up Org,Blu, Sports X, HBO, all for $65/mo. The picture quality is better than my cable picture was.(Uverse) Seems the trick is, your internet service speed and a good router. If these two aren’t up to speed, streaming can be frustrating. Local channels are already free and with a good remote (like Logitech Harmony) it’s simple to change back n forth. I also like having access to all these channels from my phone, don’t use it that often, but it’s great when I do. Turning viewing packages on/off from home is another good feature. Just takes a minute, you’re finished, move on with my day. Always hated the 45 minute phone call to the cable company.
Rude customer service -1 star
by bandapalli on 2018/06/13 15:39
They have some loopholes in their policy. Better read it completely, understand it thoroughly. Do not trust like any other normal subscription company. I took it 4 days back and called them 2 days ago and mentioned that I was particularly looking for a program and it wasn’t coming and they said that they are working with them and they don’t know the ETA to resolve it. And two days later I called them to check on it they mentioned they are not providing that program and rudely answered that big boss is not only the show you are getting on MAA tv you can watch any other show which we are providing. When I requested for cancellation and mentioned that I can pay for 4 days they said we can cancel after an year. The point was is if they are particular about their policy, they should be particular about customer satisfaction too. There is no mentions on their web site regarding unavailable shows when i signup.
Just Okay
by T. One on 2018/07/01 22:41
The only reason I gave this service more than 1 star is the price point. $10/mo to watch World Cup matches live and on demand in Portuguese and French works well for me. The problem is they don’t tell you that they only record up to 2 hrs and 30 mins of each match. So if a match ends up in a penalty shootout and you don’t see it live, you won’t be able to watch it on demand. I missed both important matches today and they both ended in penalty shootouts. So, I won’t be able to see the end of those games on Slingtv, despite being a paying customer. The other aggravating thing is that they don’t organize the on demand matches in any particular order. So, you have to painstakingly scroll through each match till you figure out which is the one you’re looking for. I don’t know why they don’t sort them chronologically by default. But, I guess you get what you pay for.
I Don’t Do This But I MUST ...

I usually don’t write a review unless I feel I need to. In this case I do . I’m really happy with this Subscription . It’s more then what I was expecting, I have all the channels I really usually see and enjoy Plus more and for a great price . Best part is if I want more I can add more and know what I’m paying for . I like the layout, easy to work . A Kool thing I like is anything u “Favorite” appears in you home screen no matter the Chanel. Makes it feel more customizable and yours. If u want cable but don’t want to pay for Chanel’s you’ll never see , I really recommend this .. and if u don’t like it u can always cancel and not have some1 come in your home . Definitely a happy customer.
Terrible customer service
by Tom O'Toole on 2019/09/15 22:16
Watching Arizona vs Texas Tech football game. All of a sudden TV feed stopped. Went to the guide and the game was not available to watch. All other aspects of the sling were working fine. Just that game was dropped in the 4 th quarter. I had guests over and all were so upset. The next morning tried to use their help on line, worthless... tried to call( spent 15 min just to find a number to call), on hold for over thirty min. no answer. I called back 3 hrs. later, on hold for 25 min. still no answer... All I can say is when it works, fine, but when things are not right this is total Crap! Finally someone came on the line, they said they could not help me. They have no clue as to what happened! Said to try the sling help on line... told them that was no help, they didn’t believe me...supervisor came on the line, could not tell me what happened or if it would happen again. Total waste of time!
Cut the cord and your bill
by Lizardman137 on 2018/07/19 13:20
I’ll admit I was a little leery about cutting cable for a streaming service. But, wow, what a good idea. I saved almost $1,100 a year and upgraded my internet speed to the fastest. I only use my cell for my phone so that’s another $33/month savings. Sling TV has almost everything you want (no FoxNews, OWN, or Investigation Discovery) but ALL the sports and channels you normally watch. It works very well and they add channels all the time (Hallmark Drama) without extra fees. I use an over the air antenna for basic channels which I thought would be a hassle but is not at all. And customer service is wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. Try Sling and you will never go back to overpriced ever-rising cable again.
So glad I switched
by Senior Citizen Ed on 2017/11/22 04:56
Both my wife and I are so glad we switched to Sling. We were cable TV customers for 25 years and we grew so tired of their tactics and continual price increases. There didn't seem to be any other options until we heard of Sling. My brother signed up for it first and he loved it. So we thought we'd try it too and we have been so happy that we did. We love it! It offers everything that we want to watch and there have been no price increases. We can watch all kinds of concerts, love their on demand, love all the college football games shown each week, and love that we can see all the channels that we want to watch. Highly recommend Sling! Definitely rate it 5 stars.
To clarify I’m reviewing for a smart TV app
by writtenangelmarie on 2019/06/13 16:31
The app is glitchy like clockwork. I’ve had Sling for over a year and i rarely use it and question why I don’t just get rid of it at least once a week. When i do use it, it only works for 2.5 hrs before it resets itself. No binging a show that’s on a network, no watching a whole movie all the way through without the entire app crashing and resetting my entire TV. Every. Time. I’ve tried exiting out during commercials and then resigning back in the avoid the 2.5 hr deadline but it doesn’t always work. Do it too soon and it just crashes 20 minutes later. I want to like the app. Honestly, i would have gotten rid of it by now if i didn’t, but it’s really annoying to loose complete access to your TV for a solid 10-15 min to reset because of one app.
LOVE Sling, but...
by PrestonNYC on 2018/03/27 02:30
You have to have a TOP NOTCH internet connection for Sling to really work right. I have Verizon Fios with an 880 mbs connection. Works great. I would hate to use Sling with a crummy connection. Reading some of the bad reviews here I can immediately see that a slow internet connection is to blame. But I also have another issue, and that is you cannot alter your subscription with the phone app, you have to go to the full site for that. Booo!! One of Sling’s great benefits is the ease of changing subscriptions. For example, I almost never watch network TV, but I changed my subscription to Sling Blue for a month in order to watch the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics on NBC. When the Olympics were over, I switched back to Orange. Not being able to do this on the app is a pain.
It’s great on the tv but
by Snuk310 on 2019/05/26 01:24
When I’m home and want to watch something, sling is my go to app. On the tv. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the iPhone app. I rarely get a functional working app. I always get an error message that says to restart the app and try again later. I don’t know if it is the location or the current app version that is messing up my mobile experience. I live in the greater Los Angeles area so I don’t know if that has anything to do with the situation but it might. I would love to get this resolved because I love using the app when it is working properly. If I where to solely rate the app on the mobile version it would probably at a one star. IT NEVER WORKS !
Service ok, Apple TV and iPhone apps bad!
by Apra11 on 2017/11/22 00:35
I’ve had sling for a few months now and the service is pretty good, but it’s hard to look past the glitchiness of the app. I have to close the app and restart often, it’s very hard to scroll through something to find where you left off (sometimes the app saves your place, sometimes not). Some commercials have glitches where it will freeze the app and I have to close it and start all over again. Sometimes I’ll watch something and it fast forwards at random. And I’m also a little upset about not being able to mirror from phone to tv. Also I can’t get the app to play on Chromecast very well. Every time I try the video is always very choppy, but it plays fine on my phone once I disconnect from Chromecast. Overall, this app has a long way to go before it’s anywhere near “Netflix quality.”
Apple update app is not easy to use.
by Dicati23 on 2019/04/13 18:16
Sorry Sling. Looks like we are going to be cancelling. We loved the previous format, before the apple update, could easily find what we wanted by using the guide. Across the top of the screen we could find the channel and scroll down to current or on demand shows. Now with new format, channels are listed down left side of screen, are hard for us to read as too small and the rest of the screen looks like a channel guide. More clicking to find on demand shows. For disabled, with vision problems, this has created great confusion and just does not work for my 76 year old husband. He keeps going too far to right or left and gives up. Your customer service could not help us get back to previous format. So now we are trying out Hulu's free trial. Yes it costs a little more but we get many more channels.
It’s good if you have latest tech
by Peachtree76 on 2019/10/28 17:43
I am most definitely going to cancel this service. Apparently there are iOS requirements, so my old iPad cannot install this app. My 1st gen Apple TV also has no ability to get Sling TV. So I moved on to my LG smart TV which was bought 2 years ago, I was able to download Sling TV and everything looked great until I tried to play my show. It’s so laggy, you can’t watch show without hiccups every ten seconds (I have 100mb fast Ethernet) so I tried to watch it on my iPhone X, now I get a message that there are too many devices connected to my account. My TV and iPhone are too many?! Eventually I got it to refresh on my phone and decide to AirPlay/mirror on my Apple TV, and here I get screwed again - Sling TV doesn’t support AirPlay. Save yourself a hassle and get Spectrum TV on demand unless you have latest gadgets in your house.
Switching to cable this week
by Cgrbafgybegtdfghert on 2018/10/23 00:04
I’m switching to cable this week and will be canceling my sling subscription. I’ve noticed with Sling not everything is what it appears. We got the package that you get Natgeo Wild on. Later learned it actually doesn’t have live shows. You click on that channels and it has some episodes of some shows. Most are old and incomplete series so strike 1. Strike 2 when we wanted to watch football so we added the spots well we quickly learned we couldn’t watch what we wanted. Then the final strike came when a channel we normally watched just disappeared. I checked online at the packages and it wasn’t listed anywhere. They just took a channel away with no warning. When I noticed that I called our internet provider and add cable. While it may be more expensive it is worth it because I know I will be able to watch the channels I want and they won’t just get taken from me.
Why’d you have to mess with it?
by Laurakrn on 2019/07/01 23:57
I use Sling on Apple TV. With each update, the interface is becoming less user friendly. At one time it was easy to quickly search all the on demand titles under “guide”. Then it was updated with the option to view either by image or guide. Which in theory was great except on Apple TV it added a new Header that took up a top half of the screen, so less viewable guide but there were a few rows left. Now the header is larger and I can only view one row at a time at the bottom half. For people with smaller screens, it’s very difficult to do quick searches and see . If there was an option to minimize the header I would have no complaints. Now that it’s been changed, I rarely watch anything on demand because it’s so tedious to look around so I’m not using Sling nearly as much as I had been before the changes. Fix it and my rating will change to 5 star.
Ignores IOS settings, nags you.
by hafeezfamily on 2019/08/11 17:19
I have In-App Ratings set to off, yet the app bugs me to provide feedback with no way of asking it to stop bugging me. The app also ask to use my location when I open it every time with no way of shutting it off. I am never going to say yes, I do not care about local channels. You cannot delete watched item individually, only in bulk. The video quality is quite good. The app is in general simple to use. The nagging on the rating and location gets you one star as being annoying to the end user is always a deal breaker, no matter how good the rest of the app is. If this is not fixed I will not review at end of my current subscription. Fix it and I will change the review and happily renew. Given the huge number of ways to stream now, I would think it would be in Slings best interest to make sure not to bug the user and just make the experience smooth.

BEWARE
by BugsBottom on 2020/01/21 16:17
BEWARE Sling + AirTV.

In that respect Youtube TV is better.

by Dj Secret on 2020/01/18 01:09
I’ve been a customer of sling for a year or so and with all the updates in that time, nothing has changed.

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because of how glitchy the channels can be while watching.

by MadRyantist on 2020/01/17 22:28
Half of the time, the main page on the app wont load.

I also tried using this on an Apple TV.

by Grunt Marine on 2020/01/12 23:54
Can anyone tell me why the following happens with this app on my TV while on the Apple TV platform.

If they chased down and corrected these issues on all their platforms, I would have no complaints. They have improved their stability recently, so it appears they do invest in continuous improvement.

I LOVE SLING NEVER HAD A PROBLEM 👍
Annoying
by Ivery 🙎🏾 on 2020/01/08 17:33
I am not sure why sling takes so long to load, or why the channels buff so much so often.
POOR CUSTOMER SURVICE, pray you don’t have a problem if you sign up.

so, let me start with Sling is a great “idea”, allows me to watch sports when I’m not tie to one tv.

HATE IT
