Paywall

I understand that you need to make money somehow, but pretty much all the good instruments are locked behind a paywall, would have preferred ads, even if they were timed

Much Better Than You Think
by remiximer_memes on 2021/04/14 00:12
I’ve been using this app for over three years now and let me tell you: you can do so much more than what is given. Granted it takes sometime to figure out tricks and the whereabouts but overall this is the best, easiest, most user friendly music maker I’ve ever used. Many thanks to the Devs and a whole lot of luck to everyone to downloads this app.
Songs being used
by Robloxking45 on 2021/04/11 21:27
I’m just saying this but respond if you want to, Medly. Sometimes I remix your “songs” and they usually get copyrighted and then i found out that there’s always a song link in my description. And the fact that you guys are changing the name is a very bad idea! I don’t know why you’re doing this but its a VERY, VERY, bad idea.
I rather use garage band instead
by Little jay lj on 2021/04/09 17:56
This application (like all others) forces you to pay to keep using and that’s a problem for me I know this application is expensive and most importantly developers intended to have a price tag with it just use GarageBand instead don’t use this application although I will rate it more than 3 stars because I need to make improvements to my music somehow and I can’t import anything into the app purchases forcing purchases onto people ain’t a way to advertise this application & I rather just buy it Anyway and I’d like to pay 25.99 bucks for this application not “47.99” that costs too much money AND MY TIME AS WELL (because unless I have a debit to credit card guess like I can’t buy or pay sorry) it ain’t worth my time and money that’s sad you know and I might reconsider uninstalling right away soon.

Sound focused, not development focused.
by ɱ ɑɳɗ ɱ ɱʋʂꀤƈ on 2021/04/05 06:00
I use Medley more than anything else. It’s easy to build melodies and bass lines without hassle, pretty accurately, and it’s easy to get these files onto my phone to send them away so I can use them in a bigger song. That’s what Medley is: A small app where you can create little music samples to send off to your bigger projects on your laptop or so on (or that’s how I see it). However, that’s not what Medley could be. There is so much potential here.. more ways to mix audio, built in vocaloid plugins (better than the current ‘Vox’ or whatever it’s called). Packs of instruments that can go together, better tutorials for beginners, so on. Trust me, this is a great app, but I think it’s too focused on simplicity.. which I know that sounds like a good thing, but simplicity really affects professionalism, especially in this circumstance. If Medley was able to integrate more types of mixing, more realistic instrument sounds rather than just a bunch of random synth and electric sounds that can kinds sound the same and nothing fits, and other little things that make it more professional, the community as well as Medley would benefit from that. Also, prices are fine. And there’s little bugs and freezes here and there and sometimes recordings of songs come out quiet but overall, so good.
It’s dumb that you need a membership

It’s dumb that u need a membership to do things other apps like GarageBand do without needing a membership
AMAZING MUSIC MAKER
by RaineeWolfe on 2021/04/04 20:30
This is an amazing music maker! I appreciate the sounds of the instruments! I rated it ★★★★★! ALL CAUSE I LOVE YOUR MUSIC!!! I LOVE YOU DEVS! (oh and btw pls read this devs)
No complaints
by shaggymf on 2021/04/03 10:21
I don’t have any complaints really only I wish I could change the pitch of things or whatever like how you can change the volume except higher or lower the pitch on longer notes. Also the low power audio cut out thing can be annoying sometime and even when I have full battery sometimes the beginning of sounds are silent. But other than that this app is really fun and EASY to use.
PERFECT

Pretty good app
by Barneybgood on 2021/03/30 03:05
I’ve been using Medly for over two years now, and i use it for most of my music. I would different recommend Medly for anyone who is willing to pay a little money. However, if you’re looking for something free, then this is not the app for you. You only get access to a single pack if you don’t pay money. Though it’s not a bad price considering there’s like 20 packs, and they’re adding a new pack every other month. Overall i’m giving this app a 5 star rating because i love it and it’s a great app. Honestly i don’t why this isn’t higher up on the music charts.
Bugs
by robtopboyee on 2021/03/29 17:27
Whenever I make a song with the piano instrument and use chords, the piano seems to be broken as it will only play 3 notes in the first chord instead of 5. So frustrating. The audio instrument will also be broken, as it will not play sound if the project is big. Why does this happen?
Single Pack Purchases’d be Nice
by Esurk1074 on 2021/03/29 05:19
It would just be nice to be able to buy a pack for $15-$30 on it’s own without having to pay $35 a month. To me, not only would it make member more appealing because incoming users’d see that it’d be cheaper (assuming individual packs are worth $20 a piece) to pay $35 for 32+12/m packs instead of $640+$20/m for individual packs. But me being me, it’s easier for me to pay the $640 down instead of having to keep up with a subscription. I know it’ll probably never happen, but it’s just a thought.
Awesome
by LittleFren on 2021/03/28 08:38
I personally think that this app is awesome and that it has no flaw, but one thing is that I cant get the membership and I’m just asking if you can add one more free instrument pack
Sooo good!
by some reveiw thing lol on 2021/03/27 01:18
This app is really easy to do and you can make THOUSANDS of music and there’s non-stop fun! I told my friend if he wants to make a music video for his channel he could use this app. And it’s free and why in the WORLD would you not wanna get a free music app eh? But this app is amazing!
Difficult to use, no tutorial?????
by qwertyRate on 2021/03/26 22:33
How do you use this stupid app?? There is no good music making app out there! And for an app THIS complicated, no tutorial??? You can’t even make your own sound! Only a list of weird sounding tunes that you’re supposed to put to a beat. (You CAN customize THAT though) Maybe I’m just doing it wrong though.. Well, I wouldn’t KNOW, because there is no TUTORIAL!!! PLEASE ADD A TUTORIAL OR GIVE ME SOME KIND OF INSIGHT FOR THIS APP!!!
Pretty Good
by Dat Awesome Boi on 2021/03/25 21:48
Feels great so far. It does lock some premium stuff behind paywalls but hey it’s a free music app that’s fine. Great if you, like me, are new to music and need something better than GarageBand
Its impossible to not use your full imagination here

This is the best music app ever
by Laasya Potuluri on 2021/03/23 00:57
This is the best music app I’ve ever tried and I’ve tried a lot of music editing apps. It’s a great way to produce songs. Within Medly you can produce music along with audio and much more. It has so much to offer and honestly I think it’s better than Logic Pro x which is like 200 bucks. It is definitely worth getting medly over that and besides it’s free. I highly suggest you get it if you’re a first time artist. It makes creating music so easy and so fun!

I would really love to see new free music packs other than the starter one. But other than that, highly recommended! I only got it today and it is amazing!!!! It’s great for creativity and very entertaining for kids! I would know, because I’m ten years old.
Not very good
by DJ LA WOLF$$ on 2021/03/15 11:58
They can’t add more loops or more tracks like that can give some of their things that is free loops in other things like that but less free things are more so that can give them the chance to see if they like it or not they give them something to do so that wayIf they like it they can buy the whole tire thing instead of paying monthly
Horrible

Love the game, missing 1 thing for me though
by Ungodly Arrow on 2021/03/11 20:39
While I love this game and even have the members pack and a few dozen songs, I’d love to have an equalizer. They’ve done a pretty good job at letting you customize the instrument and how it sounds, I think if they took it a bit further it would tier this up, because having full control of how a certain instrument sound would let us unleash our creativity even further. Still, it’s a great game/ music maker, with pretty customizable sounds as is.
The best for free.
by PhoenixsheildX on 2021/03/11 14:34
I wish I had a better platform to produce better beats on but if you’re skilled enough you can make something of the sounds they supply without buying anything. I just wish there were more settings for the bass or high hat but regardless it’s a 10/10

Make our own essentials.
It’s a good app don’t get me wrong-
by jacoob le cat on 2021/03/07 07:06
But the price is a sore thumb. Most people who do end up using this app are hobbyists and can not or is not worth it to do this full time, and even if they did want to do it full time, systems like LMMS do what this does, for free, with you being able to import any instrument or sound font you please, sure it’s slightly harder to pick up, but the same reward is given. Spending $5/mo or $36 for a year is a hefty pill to swallow, and while it may appear that that money is needed, M A N Y more people would buy it if it was either a one time purchase, or just generally cheaper. And I’m not trying to force your hand in Buisness practices here, all I am saying is that (and with near universal consensus from other reviews) the price is just too high. ._. I made a good song over the past week on this software with my free week, but I just can’t swallow the pill that is spending $36 dollars for something I could do for free, or if I really wanted the better software, $20 for a one time purchase, for high quality music creation software. This app is great, I love the features it has, the loops are great for adding background to really fill out your songs, but just the lack of Instrument variety in the starter kit, plus extreme pricing for the Premium edition is just too much... For example, there is no Guitar, Wind, Brass, E Bass, or Many options for the lead in general. Maybe even just changing it so you’ll get more features but the app is pay to download if you are worried about finances? That’s really my only criticism, paying so much for what other services can offer for free, or at least Far cheaper, is just not a smart purchase. Thanks for reading my review, and once again I am not trying to force your hand in anything developers, You all did a great job making this app and I understand the trouble you guys have to go through. Just giving honest feedback and criticism

A Little Disappointed
by PikPik Carrot on 2021/03/01 19:13
I really love this app and the format of the interface. My issue is with the fact that I purchased a pass to unlock the full library at one point and now everything that I purchased was pretty much revoked once the update for the subscription system was put into place. Now I've lose access to edit any of the songs I have in my library that I composed. It just seems a little shady and unfair from a business perspective to revoke something that was already purchased and force someone to pay a subscription to access what they already should have.
No complaining, just a REALLY good idea I had for a new instrument please read it :D

AMAZING APP
by Mohamed Salah man! #L.F.C on 2021/02/19 18:04
Ok, so I’m A dj myself, and I can tell you that this is the best app for beginners on mobile. I bought the member exclusive pack, and each month, there is a new soundtrack. Kudos to the person that came up with that, but I do have a suggestion. What if you had to buy the package and had it for as long as they wanted. You could get much more income for the people that spent the thirty five bucks, but don’t use the app much. I promise that if you do a one time payment, many more people would not hesitate to upgrade. Just a thought, still a great app 👍
Very Cool; Should be able to import soundfonts
by Caio102907 on 2021/02/19 04:14
I’ve been working with this app for nearly a year. I like the app. The instruments are unique and cool. And it’s fun to work with. However, I think a feature that I think is most needed, is soundfonts. It’d be cool if we could use soundfonts, since, despite the thousands of instruments and sounds, they are still incredibly limited.

I got this app in 2016 or 2017 and I remember an instrument pass that you could get that included all packs, including future packs, I bought this and it was true to its word up until the update that added the Master pack, then I stopped receiving any new packs. I feel a little let down, thank you for the hours of fun though!
THE BEST APP EVER
by OOF-BOI on 2021/02/06 19:17
this app can’t be better, you can make hit music with any genre, and it’s not just loops you put together and call it you own beat, you actually make it, this is the best DJ/music artist app I’ve ever used, and I think ever music artist should use it, it’s better than FL studio
Really great app
by Gopnik Parade on 2021/02/06 18:41
Even the free version is fantastic. Despite how easy it is to use, it has a whole lot of functions and great configurability. The sounds you have access to are pretty sick too. The whole app’s just 😚🤌 perfect. 10/10 will definitely keep using

by the gaming dij on 2021/02/04 23:30
Hello :) I have been using Medly for +3 years and I have to say. From then to now it’s been an amazing ride using Medly. I do have a little issue, for the loops I use personally that I transfer to my phone an then into Medly, I can’t seem to use a Loop that’s over 30 seconds. I’d like to be able to use any loop and any length it is to continue making music that I love, with the app I love. I only ask to use any length of a loop I have downloaded on my phone onto Medly without restrictions, but the app is amazing over all and I hope the crew helping with this app has an amazing day :)
Love and Hate for Medly
by Euphoria MoonShine on 2021/02/03 17:35
I’ve been using Medly for a while now and have enjoyed every part of the journey in learning to create different sounds and make music. The app is clean, it’s pretty easy to use*, and the sounds aren’t bad. I’ve had member for maybe 3 years now (yes I pay the 35), and back in the day when you could purchase packs individually, I had done that as well. I really love this app. But... fix the app! Sure, there are bug fixes and minor improvements to the overall application with updates, but there are many more bugs and things that could be adjusted to make the performance and overall quality of the app much better. For instance, sometimes when I have a lot of sounds and automations in a certain part of a song, the app straight up crashes. Or if I try to open the sidebar to view the volumes, reverb, pitches etc of all the sounds I’m using, it just crashes. Another thing, the blue background and blue everything is pretty bad for the eyes when using this app at night. Might wanna implement a change in color scheme option... Also, the sounds are getting a little repetitive. I almost hear old sounds in the new ones... *this app is pretty simple to use... BUT to get good at making music with Medly, you first have to get good at using Medly in GENERAL. (Meaning find ways to navigate around bugs and modify sounds to sound relatively better than what they originally are) Look, Medly, I know you’re a small company that works hard to produce this app. But there are some simple (maybe not, I’m not an app developer) interface things that could be improved. I love this app, please, I don’t wanna stop paying for it or using it. But I will if this app just keeps slowly falling behind newer and better apps I COULD be paying for...
Only good if you want to write a song with no depth
by SpailsOfficial on 2021/02/03 03:59
This only let’s you use three octaves of range. Do you know how many songs use three octaves? None of them, because those songs don’t make it out of drafts. So why Medley thinks that’s acceptable is beyond me.
Why I hate this app
by dioxiegaldracomalfoy on 2021/01/30 20:35
This app just has too many buttons it’s so confusing I go to click on one thing and it won’t play it but then I click on it a second later and it’ll play and it’s so confusing with each section it’s different and they have no instructions and and it’s so hard to get what you want because everything cost money I just honestly want to experiment with my music but this app makes it so hard to try to do because everything is so confusing to try to do half of the buttons don’t even work and 99% of it cost money and I just wanna download an app and experiment with my music I don’t wanna have to pay $60 a year to do that

Update Idea
by memery_io on 2021/01/24 23:16
Ok so, my idea is that you could make sampled instraments and what i mean by that is you could record a sound and you could make that recorded sound into an instrament and use it for music or just to play around with it. (please respond if you can, ty!)
Good app but I was lied to
by Huge Man Fredd on 2021/01/23 00:28
When you get premium they say that you have 2800+ sounds to choose from with premium. I think they were talking about the individual notes within each instrument you have, because there’s probably only about 90 maybe Sounds / Instruments
Just a Suggestion..
by EzPzGz (reborn.) on 2021/01/22 19:38
Now that I have Premium, this app is basically everything a budding electronic music producer like myself could ever want. It’s simple and intuitive, making the creation of absolute bangers a breeze. However, I have a suggestion for the developers. There aren’t really any big problems with the app that I can think of, so this suggestion is just something that would be pretty nice to see, in my opinion. I think the app is too quiet. Switching from Spotify and other music streaming apps makes this especially apparent. I feel like I have to make every sound loud for my mixes to sound good, but that brings with it some compression artifacts and other weird stuff you don’t want. This isn’t an outright problem, but may I suggest a solution? Add an overall mixing tab to select. Maybe have it in the same menu as the key and BPM options so we can tune how loud the mix is as well as adjust the overall acoustics of it. These could include sliders for bass, mids, treble, and how far apart all the sounds are (which I know can be done with the “pan” slider but soundstage is different from imaging, as you should know). I apologize if this sounds a bit like a demand, but it’s really not. My, and I’m pretty sure a lot of other users’, experience would improve if an overall mixing tab would be added. Thanks, Haize

Musician's dream
by Gaylorder dc k on 2021/01/18 16:43
It was always hard to just jot down a sequence or a riff I wanted to try. The programmers put work serious work into this to satisfy ANYONE with musical appreciation and creativity: Full spectrum. all the smoothness and perks take extra time to program. this program functions as my immediate note pad for when something pops in my head and I have no way to save it for later. I have not used the MEMBER yet, I max out the capabilities of the few basic sound sets they have, I don't buy the percussion packs , I still end up making 2-3 minute tunes. Even without the member level stuff, this program is user friendly, it's solid, project file friendly, it but always make and play with a duplicate file because there is no "save" button, all changes are permanent. There is a nice "undo" function nowdays which I think was missing before. I do want to get the new sound packs,I don't need the premade drum/percussion kits because I make busy loaded loops of my own, but for beginners or anyone on a writers block it sounds fantastic.

I have been trying to make songs I already made a song I just need a melody and I have been trying to find an app just like this one THATS WHY I GAVE IT FIVE STARTS YES CALL ME CRAZY BUT FIVE STARTS I GIVE IT THAT (I get carried away with caps) anyway Thanks For Making This App

It’s confusing to find your beat at the right time but also I came to this app to look for a beat for my YouTube channel and I can’t seam to find something like the description said Thank you for clarifying that this is a free app
Acts like a piece of crap trying to export.
by TechnologyMaster8 on 2020/12/27 22:07
I tried to sell my Medly music on Bandcamp, but when I tried to export my album, two out of two audio files I checked were glitched. One song repeated it first note twice, and another cut out the first four bars! PLEASE! PLEASE FIX THIS! Other than that, it's a great editor, but this one flaw ruins it! Please fix it, and I swear I'll give this editor five stars!

Great app, but needs piano sounds
by baseball ßtār on 2020/12/22 03:39
Don’t get me wrong, this app is great, but it needs some actual piano sounds. I was trying to make astronomia, but it didn’t have any piano music. So if you could try to update that, it would be great.
Good app, but too limited
by idk what put here XD on 2020/12/21 22:49
The app itself is good, but when it comes to the sounds you can make you have to pay money. If you don’t then you have a very small supply of sounds you can use. Very good sounding, but very small but even that is not a big deal (seeing the price) but I only recommend buying all the extra sounds if you actually use this app a lot.
Great music making software

Love all the packs and the quality.
Good, but why the money?
by [Real Name Classified] on 2020/12/20 19:17
Why do you have to pay for everything? It’s kinda annoying.
Can we have different themes in the editor?
by WolfGuy#189YT on 2020/12/20 19:00
I mean can you add a dark interface so it’s easier to see what I need to see, other than that the app is good.
Spectacular! However, I’d love a time signature option.
by Eldtrainboy on 2020/12/19 15:08
Medly is spectacular! I use it all the time for a bunch of different projects, but it could benefit from a time signature setting. I can’t set a song to play in 3/4, for example. However, otherwise, spectacular!
Not that I would use.
by NariRose on 2020/12/19 03:22
Yeah I did the whole tutorial and you have to legit pay for most stuff. They just want money. Don’t download. If you wanna make music, fun and easy.. use GarageBand. Don’t waste your money and time into this.

Love The App, just one thing missing
by -Frostwall- on 2020/12/16 05:54
I’ve been using medley for two years now, and used Member for one year, and made some amazing songs with the app! Great place to start out with music, especially if you don’t have money. The one thing I wish could be added was a way to make your own sounds, like a wavetable inspired by the serum plugin for computer programs or something, while keeping the existing sounds, some as presets, some as member exclusive sounds not possible with the sound designer, to keep making money through to keep updating the app, and keeping people in music. I’m not completely freaking out over it since I have no idea how hard that is, andirons can live without it, but if it’s at all possible for a small company, at least try. Thanks! Keep up the great work!
I happy rn :)

I love it but...
by MedlyMaster2.0 on 2020/12/09 14:05
I think they should have more starter packs... because it’s unfair that premium has lots of music than starter.
Good app, only problem is the bar count.
by Currynator on 2020/12/08 22:52
Hello. I have been using medley for the past two weeks now, and it is great! Ive made some songs with it and love it since im going to make music for my game im making. The only problem i have with it is the bar count! For example. Ive wanted to make a song with 3 bars per column or 5 bars per column, but i just cant. I’m not an expert at this stuff here, but i would suggest you make a custom bar setting or something like that. Also, is there any way to change the time signature?
Genre beats
by Zzp_flores on 2020/12/07 20:07
This app isamazing I have made a lot of great beats a and songs out of this i love edm and that type of stuff but only thing I’d like added to this app would be more aggressive beats like hardstyle raw or hardcore type beats this app has it all BUT those and I just think it’ll make it better at least for people like me that are into all that a bet more effects maybe like reverse kicks bass and such but this app is great !!!
More rock and metal instruments?
by Reitrixx on 2020/12/02 13:53
I really do love Medly it’s easy to use and has great sounds! But I find it frustrating to create the genre and sound that I tend to like, which is a more of a hard rock/metal. Maybe for the next pack could you maybe put in some more electric guitars and bass sets like in the rock set? If a pack like that would come out us rock fans would be joyful! -Thanks for reading!
It’s great but limited
by Simp1e_Gämër on 2020/12/01 16:47
I just want to start off by saying, this app is not bad. It’s really fun to just play with and helpful to use if ever making music. I’m glad that they don’t use ads at all and it gives things to start out with to help you learn it. But after a while I got pretty bored using the same one starter pack, so I wanted to use more. But the problem with that is there is a ton of great packs that I could’ve used, but can’t since it’s pretty pricey. I feel like there should be more packs that are free to help it be more interesting other than the app begging for me to pay for more. Once again I respect that it doesn’t use ads but instead of ads it begs for you to pay for the other packs. Love the app, it’s fun to use, but I’m only giving three stars because one starter pack only gets you so far.
THIS IS A GREAT APP
by revievew guy on 2020/11/30 19:01
But the membership is a little expensive. If you could make a cheeper one that includes less sounds and loops, that would be great 👍🏻. I love Medly, so thank you!
Great App! Individual Purchases would be nice!
by Turn the cuteness up to 11 on 2020/11/29 01:00
I like this app. Quite a bit. But I wish I could buy the packs individually, I don’t want to pay $50 for all the packs because 90% of them, I’m never going to use. I like the way you place notes and as someone that came from Google Chrome Music Lab it’s great that you can change the volume and length of the notes.
Good Game, but needs improvements.
by Boopy Blue on 2020/11/25 13:32
I like this app SO MUCH, and so does my younger brother and my older sister. There is one thing that ruins my experiences though: THE SOUND CHIPS. I like the starter pack, but stuff like Arcade and Hip-Hop sound AMAZING, but aside from Chip, Bright, the pianos, EDM, Deep, Cross, and Acid,The starter pack looks lame. I mean, those are the only music types that catch my interest. and in all, the only thing that would make this app EVEN COOLER for me to rate it 5 stars (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) is... To have the user pick which 2 OTHER sound chips other than Starter to have. They have 6 options: Arcade, Christmas, Jazz, Upside-Down, Pop, and Festival. If you do this then I will go 5 stars. And also, for the REST of the tracks you can do the $35. And I did NOT request Halloween because I am a Christian.

Wow! This is amazing!
by Brandon The Cat on 2020/11/15 15:08

Yes but the rating...
by -n- -n- -n- -n- on 2020/03/26 03:44
I do really really really (yes, in Chinese old scholars say that important thing should be told three times) like Medly and already have composed songs even better than my old composition Raining Roof (the improved compositions are Rainy Day, Rendezvous, and Change respectively). However I’d like the price to no longer be free but Member no longer required. You can say the price - $5.99 and even more people just will get past the MONEY barrier and you get profits better than just...before now. Say, do you know my second dream in my mind? I’d like a free, open-source Notes app replacing Medly (and free - but, people do make instruments as a donation.) And I looked at other reviews saying that a gifted teenager could make Medly. Just stop there, you could trust me for new Medly stuff. (Personally, I’d replace the Starter electronic pack with a better Electron, with the Aura (now named Electron) being the lead.) But I’d do the ripping out since my actual status is close to yours, just three years behind. The Notes ... it looks like Apple .... but maybe I would lead in the E-field later on. Oh, and the musics are not just a rip-off of Gallop. Just to make this rating appear as the most relevant of all, so people can get in the Compositionist school. Yes, the Compositionist Axis Rebellion of Music (opponents: Medly, Auxy, MusiQuest). And there are so much parentheses.
apologies
by freakbag🛒🛒🛒🛒🛒 on 2020/08/07 05:52
my apologies for trying to understand your business, although i still am saying i recommended 2$ not just 75c, i do not understand completely these things since i am a child ( I'm 13). i wont argue the price anymore but i still think you guys were very rude to me and others but my rating is going to be 4 stars still. thank you for responding to my previous reviews and i wish you guys good luck previous response : you see this app is really good, i don't write reviews unless i have something i really want to say so ill just get to the point. i truly love this app and making music is so easy, but i don't agree with a subscription. i understand that the app must be expensive to produce and i appreciate that but... i think that you should give us more than one pack, even two would be good? and make the rest of the packs purchaseable for around maybe 75c-2$?? that way people can choose what sounds they want to use without worrying about a charge every month. some people don't have the money to pay each month, so i really hope my idea is looked into at least a bit, since personally i am only interested in having a few packs anyways, so if i got the subscription i would be spending a ton of money for things i don't really need. thank you for your time but i still do really enjoy this app, just not the starter pack being extremely limited and there being a ton of other packs i have to pay each month for.

Sorry to bother I but I like this app but why do we have to pay to use loops I don’t think really like that many people may not like it too sir you created a great app but the only thing that you should only change is being able to get the loops for free to create some great songs many people would like and download this app it’s perfect just change it to the loops being free take that being a member thing there’s also people that don’t have credit cards or money like me but with this app I can make money I can create many great projects for my Tucson rappers please bro just do that one thing for 7 billion people all around the world think how many people with download this if you do if free just like the app music maker jam or garage band their competition if you just take off the member request many rappers and singers or producers will keep installing it that benifits you because you created something very useful why take money for it if it can be useful so your next invention will be liked because of the first application made was so good know people trust your great creations that benifits you well
Sound focused, not development focused.
by ɱ ɑɳɗ ɱ ɱʋʂꀤƈ on 2021/04/05 06:00
I use Medley more than anything else.
Great, Except...
by NathaFred on 2019/08/25 14:30
Hey! This is an amazing app. Well designed, clean, professional. But the only thing I dislike about it is that it is expensive. Hear me out, because I am not recommending that it be free. As a hobbyist I don’t have the money to buy a membership, but having the extra samples are kind of a must if you want to make songs with variety. What if in the free version it played an ad every time you added a premium instrument to a song. It would be like renting the instrument with an ad. You wouldn’t unlock the instrument universally, only for that song. It would keep the free version restricted while allowing hobbyists to make more with the app. It would generate income from all users instead of the few that buy a Membership. It would still give plenty of incentive to buy the pro version. This is a brilliant app and I want it to keep progressing. I think it would be beneficial to both users and developer. Just an idea, Cheers! P.S It would also be cool if deleted songs went to a temporary trash. This is a relatively standard feature in many media creation applications. (Or you could just put a couple extra messages telling people not to be idiots, like me, and delete songs they want :D)
Medly, thank u👍🏽
by ✨ForeverGirl✨ on 2018/12/30 03:53
I just got Medly not too long ago, looking for a new music maker and I found Medly, and I gave it a shot. This is probably the BEST music maker I ever used. I love how the controls are so easy, most packs are cheap, and that more sounds are available in the free pack, making easier to make a song without buying everything. Even if i did buy the Future Bass pack, it’s worth it and so cheap. Im probably soon gonna buy the master pack. Out of all the music apps I’ve used, especially Auxy studio, this is the best one. Keep up the good work plz🔥 Edit: Ok, the new update is ok, but a problem. The Master and Band packs used to cost about $9.99 (or around $9) and now, I can’t buy a pack individually anymore because you apparently gotta buy some sort of trial. It was better and easier for me when I could just buy a pack on its own and have it forever instead of buying a trial including ALL instruments for a LIMITED amount of time. Im just suggesting that maybe instead of having just the option of a trial, you can get the packs by themselves OR get the trial. Overall still a good app 😆
Great for any level of experience
by Corn Matters on 2018/12/17 01:00
The app is really intuitive and easy to learn regardless of your experience with digital audio interfaces. It’s great for beginners to get started with simple music production, and for the more advanced people out there you can still put together some really great sounding stuff in a variety of genres. It’s amazing when I have an idea on the go and I only have a few minutes to quickly get down some chords, a melody, and even record some lyrics. If you’re new to the app, it’s definitely worth looking into the yearly membership. If you’re like me though and you’ve already purchased the packs and you only want one new one, it’s up to you to decide if that’s worth a subscription. I think I speak for lot of dedicated Medly fans when I say that I would love to still be able to purchase individual packs separately from the membership subscription, but either way it definitely won’t stop me from continuing to use my favorite app.
Lovely, but a Bug and some Suggestions
by unicrafticorn on 2019/08/28 23:06
This app is nice. The new update is alright, though I particularly preferred new packs as in-app purchases over membership (of course, I understand that’s how you guys make money). But recently the app’s been doing something weird: when I play something and turn my phone off, the parts come out all choppy, some not playing at all. Sometimes this leads to the app crashing. If it’s important, I do use Low Power Mode often. I’d appreciate if this were patched. Other than that, Medly is great for beginning musicians; after warming up to it, it’s relatively easy to create tunes. A question I’d like to ask is if new packs as outside of membership will be released, but I’d assume not if you’re plan is to release one membership pack a month. If you could, I’d love for the rock pack to have a dirtier guitar, or have the guitars play for an extended period of time at a consistent intensity. It would also be nice to have a “note” function that you can attach to bars if you want to fix/edit something in the future. It could also be different kinds of stamps. Overall, great app, love to use it :)
10/10 UI & general app but new genres packs are lacking
by ValkyriiVail on 2017/10/30 12:25
I love this app! Making music was a passion I set aside ever since my explosive break up with GarageBand. Thanks to Medly, I can start mixing tunes no matter where I am, easily and efficiently. As a developer, It’s rare for me to come across a REAL public use app (rather than design mock ups or $$$$ apps I don’t need) that’s UI/UX is inspirational. I myself aim to create applications that are as clean cut, easy to use and that actually runs smoothly! #devboss #killedit With that said, my only and I really mean only wish is that new genre packs would be available soon!!! The ones we have now are hella rad and I can use all of them for some decent tunes. Yet! The available packs can only go so far since I mostly listens to future bass, trap, dubstep, bass and many electronic dance styles that are, in four words, face melting musical carnage. I weep about the fact there’s not a lot of options for me to play with. I’m sure your working on it! I will wait patiently with eager hope for some new packs that are more my style. Otherwise, keep up the spectacular work and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!
Amazing! But..
by Kiwyi86 on 2020/07/18 03:05
This app is amazing. I use it all the time. There are so many things that you can do with this game. But there are some things that i really want to be heard. 1: tempo changes. There are so many places in my songs that i really want to slow down or speed up, but i cant do that without placing the notes in what looks like the tempo that i want or the increase/ decrease in tempo that i want, and having it sound like trash. Maybe you could create a tempo thing in automation. 2: bar count. There are many times where i need 3 bar counts so I wouldn’t have to make two separate frames to add up to three. It just makes things very complicated. 3: Time signatures. Im really happy that you included triplets, but i also recommend putting in more. For example 5/4 and 3/4. Those two are really hard to to in this app. DON’T GET ME WRONG! THIS IS A GREAT APP. Its just that these are some things that i really wish were included. I spend a lot of time on it and i love it :)
Superb App
by YOURTRUSTYFRIEND on 2020/10/24 00:40
I love this app! I’m a piano composer, but I travel quite a bit, and I can’t lug my piano around everywhere. That’s why I use this app. I can log down different notation patterns I like the sound of on the app, and then try them out on my piano when I get home. I love how real the piano sounds are! I had a bit of trouble understanding the app design and how to log in notes at first, but they give handy step-by-steps for how to use many parts of the app, which is spectacular. I still very much prefer physical instruments to this, but I think that’s because I’ve never been an ace with technology—😂. The friend of mine who recommended this app to me uses it to make beats, which just goes to show it is easy to be used for many different people. I could only possibly think of one thing to complain about—which is just that it would be cool if you could lower the cost of a membership. I did try it for a month and loved that I could mess around with violin and saxophone sounds, but I really just would like if it could be a tad cheaper for a yearly subscription. I won’t be ungrateful, though, this is much more of a steal than most apps offer for premium—and just flat out better, too. Thanks for the great app! You guys rock! 😊👍
Dissatisfied
by Lolpooooooop on 2018/08/14 02:01
I have purchased the Jazz pack, and I am disappointed. I wanted to purchase the pack because I wanted to write out some of the pieces from my previous year in my schools band. The reason I am dissatisfied is because the range for the instruments doesn’t change at all. I was hoping for there to be an option for me to change the octave of the instruments, as I played the Baritone Saxophone. But there wasn’t. I had used the Low A (two ledger lines below the staff) numerous amounts of times and was sad that I couldn’t change it. I don’t want to just move up my music an octave because I’m lazy.... lol. This paragraph has basically just been a persuasive ‘essay’ for you to add an option to lower the octave range. Another hint I would like to mention is that the Gb and G for the Baritone Saxophone sound weird when put on the octave above the lowest F. Thank you for seeing this if you ever do, because I love this app and want to see it succeed.
Really Good
by A.P.W.Cool guy on 2019/07/07 21:37
I’ve been reading some of the reviews about how “this should be free” or “why do you have to be member to get that”, but the response is plain and simple, Medly is a small company that needs funding to continue future operations. Now that that’s out of the way, here’s why I gave this app 4 stars. I get that you do need money, but I feel like at least one instrument pack should be free, I completely understand the reasoning if you are not able to, I just feel limited. The free trials of packs is a really good idea and I feel that listening to what is possible makes me want to be a member, but I just like to make little tracks so I’m not looking to purchase anything. In conclusion, I know I kinda sound like a choosing beggar but I feel there should be two starting packs. Now, I don’t know what all goes into making the instrument sounds, or how much it costs, so that also might be a factor in why the member option is important, but I hope you see where I’m coming from.
This app is great, don’t question it.
by Tell_me_your_joking on 2018/12/16 06:17
I was expecting more instruments, of course (the ones there have been out for a long time), but I was not expecting a monthly subscription. I’ve been using this app for a long time because it didn’t have a subscription, I could just buy it and make songs on the go easily. I love the app always but this is not what I expected nor wanted and I’d think a lot of people using this app agree on this. Please take this into consideration. Also, there have been some things that have ticked me of before this. The overlay feature where you could see the notes of other instruments while editing was so useful back then so could you ever consider bringing it back? If you can’t I can understand. Edit: For people who have bought the packs before the update, you will not have to have a subscription for it. It will be kept. For the newcomers and new packs however, you will have to subscribe fir that. Hope that clears the air.
Amazing app but membership isn’t necessary
by challenk on 2019/02/05 22:13
This app is the greatest things of my life. I love all of it. Every single piece of it. The way the app works easy and simple to learn and use. And the amount of sound bites to use is plenty and they all sound amazing. My favorite pack is Master! But, sadly I can’t not use it. See, ones you download the app, the pack you start with is the starter and to get any more packs, you have to pay money. Now I would be fine with this if you could retrieve these packs by being given an option to buy as an in-app purchase or as an add-on in the App Store, but nope. I have to pay for a membership. Let’s just list some possible Scenarios that could happen: “1. I’m too young and I don’t have a credit card. 2. I don’t want to add my credit card to my phone cause someone could hack it. 3. I can’t pay for that.” Can guys please change the way I got to pay. Thxs!
An AMAZING APP!!!!!!!!!
by supershan30 on 2018/09/16 04:15
I’ve tried almost every single music making app on the App Store and nothing comes CLOSE to Medly. I play the piano and the violin and have experience with making music of my own, however making music that way is very time consuming and not very efficient, and not many people who want to make music can play instruments I have several friends like this, BUT with Medly, anyone can! Plus, buying all the different sound packs (like I did) is well worth the money you would spend buying them. Its simple and easy to make music with and I’ve created entire 2-4 minuet songs (that includes all the re editing and even re doing the entire song itself) in a matter of minutes. So I guess the easiest thing to say about Medly is that it’s PERFECT for any kind of person and you shouldn’t waist your time searching for a better music making app. -Tristan Garrison
Great way to get people inspired to create
by SmiteMatter on 2019/08/30 20:29
First I want to say that the complaints about wanting free or much cheaper add ons are ignorant at best. The app didn’t just plop out of the sky without any investment or work done by the developer. Who do they think spends time making the loops, or coding the app, independently wealthy altruists with nothing but free time on their hands? No of course not. Real living humans do all the work and deserve to be compensated for their efforts. Asking them to work for free is just silly and a little insulting. Try walking into a burger joint and asking them for free food because you can’t or don’t want to pay for it. Same silly thing. Anyway, great looping app that reminds me a bit of Looptastic from iOS past. This is a well thought out app that is excellent for those who are new to music production to explore some creative avenues at a super low cost. I think even some vets with more experience may find this useful as well or at least a bit fun.
Very nice, but...

This app seemed confusing at first but eventually you get used to how to use it. I like all of the different options there are (changing how loud a note is, being able to hear a note before placing it, being able to change the key of the piece, etc.) However, these are some things I’d like added: 1.) Crescendos and diminuendos. Being able to change the note’s loudness is helpful, but being able to have more steady dynamics where it’s very gradual is better. It’d be cool if we could just place this feature under the group of notes we want the crescendo or diminuendo to affect. 2.) The way we have to pay monthly or yearly for other features. I dislike having to pay in that way; I’d rather pay a base fee instead of each month or year having expenses for the app. So please add a bass fee option where we can just flat out pay the expenses for other features and get the payment over and done with.
Love the app but one suggestion
by MiaCongrez216 on 2019/01/30 19:17
I’ve been using this app for quite a while and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT ^~^ I’ve recreated music from Mario Galaxy, Hamilton, and some of the music from orchestra but I have a suggestion, is there any way in a future update an option can be added to change the time signature? Since this app can be used basically anywhere with ease I put in the notes for some of my music so I can listen to only my part since I mostly play by ear but a few pieces are a different time signature or some of the other music I transpose are a different time signature and this app only has 4/4 “^~^ or even to change the time signatures in an individual measure, I’m not really in a hurry or anything for it, it’s just a suggestion ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyways, this is my favorite music app to use; it’s fun to use and I love showing people the stuff I make on here and they love listening to it! ^~^👍🏼❤️
Almost perfect

This app I stumbled upon quite a while ago (think December), and almost immediately upgraded to member. For a price such as almost 25 dollars a YEAR (more or less, I don’t remember exactly), you can get amazing, quality instruments to make music as you wish. But as I continue to make music, one thing keeps nagging me: the inability to change the time signature. All songs and beats you make are required to stick to the common 4/4 time. But sometimes, I might want to make a song that feels Waltz-ier, and want to go for a 3/4 signature, or maybe I want to just go crazy and challenge myself with a 5/4 time signature. I see how implementing this COULD be difficult, but I don’t see why it couldn’t be done. I’ll definitely keep using this amazing program, but if it were to add time signature changes, I would give it a full 5 stars.

Hey Medlylabs! I just want to say that this app is amazing and I pretty much use it everyday. For the price, the amount of content you have is fantastic and I couldn't ask for more. There's just a few questions I have about some instruments. Firstly, the guitars. The guitars in the rock pack are pretty cool, but they seem to only last as long as a single pluck. Like, you can't extend the sound for more than one beat or so. Why is that? It used to be different some years ago but you guys changed it before I could buy it. I'd really love to use the guitar instruments (because a lot of the songs I cover are pop rock and need guitars) but I can't use them the way they are now. Is there any way you can change them or make a new pack? Secondly, the violin, cello, and bass instruments lag by half a beat. Could you remove the lag? It’s sort of irritating because it doesn’t flow. Thank for reading this!
Wonderful

Now before you roll your eyes hear me out. Some may find Medly annoying because you only have one pack without a membership but to me it’s worth it. The membership is a bit pricy (I’m not rich duh) but It’s worth it if you know what you’re doing (Unlike me 😂). You can create wonderful pieces or just simple ring tones. From Intros to background music the possibilities are endless. I would compare this to Minecraft. Pretty good if you are creative and will keep trying to find a solution. If you like me are un experienced the free version is great just to see where you can go with it. I do feel the one moth price is expensive and I think 3.99 or 2.99 would be much more decent, but I understand that the developers need money for the addition of new packs. TL:DR: Free version is great for beginners experimenting and paid is pretty good for intermediate music makers.
Pretty Awesome...but...why?
by Jshcljgjgokufoydiyfludoy on 2018/12/15 19:53
Look, I get that with the new subscription variable, you can receive a whole new pack monthly (which is pretty cool) but AT LEAST give us the arcade and Christmas packs WITHOUT THE SUBSCRIPTION. I’ve been using this app for, a very long time. Loved it, and I still do. But never in my mind did I think that you guys would throw this in our faces. I mean CMON! You seriously can’t get the best out of EVEN YOUR FAVORITE APPS without some kind of purchase. And it had to be my favorite type of sounds, arcade. I’m super disappointed and dissatisfied, but I still have hope in this app as long as you guys stop bribing us to get a subscription with ARCADE SOUNDS. Couldn’t have been anything else huh? Oh well, I hope this gets resolved and I will Continue to stick with this awesome app (as long as they don’t chuck a “SUPER DELUXE EXTRA AMZING SPECTACULAR” subscription at us.) Thank you.
AMAZING!!
by Aqre- on 2020/05/11 17:02
I LOVE THIS APP! I have been using this app since the for at least 2+ years, and I've recieved nothing but excellent quality per every update. However this app lacks a lot of common instruments as well as a suggestion box where one could suggest new instruments and features. I would love to see more basic instruments including a vibraphone, tube bells, more acoustic guitars, more pianos (with more range), a standard drum set, a brush drum set, and more. Some of us love modern music, but at the same time, some of us would like to use common instruments. I'm sure people have improvised but that doesn't have the same feel as a classic instrument. I hope this comment can be heard (or read). Overall this is an amazing app and is very easy to understand. The UI is easy to understand after trial and errors. I'd recommend this app to all.
Amazing app, a few suggestions.
by Dpilly_ThePickle on 2020/02/05 03:55
Medly is an amazing app that I have been using for a while now. I love the direct export to soundcloud and other places and the simple and easy way to make music. I have a few suggestions though. One is a community. You could upload your albums/songs to a community area so other people can see your Medly music. People could like and comment on music they like. Another suggestion is some kind of point system. This could be based off likes on your song in the community. Basically, a certain amount of points can buy other instruments while others will stay member only to give you a reason to get a membership. Thank you for reading my suggestions, and I hope you take them into consideration in the next update.
New Medly sounds grating and annoying, please fix.
by SkyTiger8 on 2017/11/29 22:48
Everything sounds different with the new update and not in a good way. It sounds so grating and sharp and it’s really annoying. I attempted to fix it by messing with the HiLo option but wasn’t happy with the results. The drums have this effect where everything else gets quiet when one plays. This is something I notice in a lot of modern edm and I kind of hate it!! I herd a a setting called ducker being mentioned but I can still here this effect clearly when ducker is turned all the way down on all the instruments. The bass is also different it sounds deeper which is ok but it’s also kind of muffled, this is a problem because I like to use a bass sound called overdrive as a lead by turning the pitch all the way up and now it sounds kind of muffled. I regret not saving my songs before this update because now they sound weird. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate all the new stuff in Medly but I want my songs to sound like they did before and for new songs I make to not sound too harsh.
Absolutely LOVE this app but just one thing...
by Eellee on 2018/09/03 21:09
I’ve played around with garage band for a while now and it never provided me with the SOUND I was looking for. I don’t know how but I came across this app and I am SOOO glad I did. I was looking for something to make raw examples of tracks with but that sounded decent enough that wouldn’t embarrass me when I show my examples to producers. A way to get the songs in my head out of my head. But garage band wasn’t cutting it for me. I love this app! I went ahead and unlocked everything cuz I love it so much. My ONLY ONLY thing I don’t like is not being able to just record myself in one go over the beats I make. Nor being able to hear the song play while recording at the same time so I know where I’m at in the song. Please please add that feature and this app will be PHENOMENAL. Or at least make so it you don’t have to record by each bar! Anyway GREAT JOB!
Love this app, here’s my suggestions.
by Alexando on 2020/10/06 13:52
I use this app regularly and love it. There’s a few things I’ve noticed that I’d like to suggest in case the devs read and consider these reviews. 1. I’d love a wider variety of “darker” sounds, particularly for the guitars. Everything is really upbeat and happy sounding, which isn’t bad (it suits most of the EDM stuff this was designed for pretty well) but I feel as if it could benefit from a broader emotional spectrum. A “metal” and/or a “blues” setting that’s similar to the “rock” setting might be appropriate there. 2. IMHO the pizzicato violin is the worst sound in the sets, I’ve been trying to use it but it’s kind of cringe which is unfortunate since I’ve liked the rest of the classical set. 3. A way to do glissando would be really nice and might not clutter up the UI too much if done well, such as with a tap and hold setting on a series of notes. Similarly, a way to do really short notes such as grace notes or ornamentals would also add a lot to the app. I was imagining this might work with a UI if you tap and hold a short note that precedes another note. 4. More time signature options wouldn’t hurt, although you can always just force them by writing it in manually, it wouldn’t hurt to have more coded options.
For Those Who Love Making The Music
by Austinpire on 2017/11/20 02:25
Okay, I want to start out by saying you do NOT need to buy any of the in app purchases in order to make awesome tunes. Everything you need to start with is already there, but if you want to go advance or fine tune your music, I would suggest getting the band pack. Second, the app is EXTREMELY easy to get the hang of, even if you buy the band pack. I’m usually slow in “getting to know” apps, but this came as easy for me. Third, I have no problems with the app in terms of glitching or crashing, other than the times where I make everything extremely loud, which causes the app to either make it staticky or crash, but this is only due to the fact that I tried making it INCREDIBLY loud. This app is simple, easy, but the things you can make on it is incredible.
Amazing, but this is a suggestion.
by Creeptank030 on 2018/04/21 14:27
I love it! All the different sounds, all the different ways you can make music, all the combos you can make with the music, it’s just amazing... but there is only one problem with me, and it’s something I want content-wise. I want something like the “8-bit plugin.” Something like the “8-bit plugin” is essential for the music I want to make. I am an Undertale nerd, so I want it. Also, people should be able to upload sounds to use and there is an in-app currency you can buy or earn to get things from the store. This would be marvelous, but these are only suggestions. I think this would make you a tremendous amount more money, and us, as users of the app, would love it. Oh and we should be able to download FLPs, too. This would be awesome.
It’s good for beginners and casuals! Get Auxy Studio too.
by Vj starr on 2019/07/30 16:20
This app is just not a great app for me. It’s not my main DAW but I use it every once in a while for fun. The method of viewing scenes is restricting: You can’t easily have the same loops in multiple scenes, because the copy-paste can become tiresome. Medly features 10 or so instruments for free, and honestly, the selection is decent but the sample quality is a little lacking for professional use. If you are serious about music making, try Auxy in addition to Medly. It has customizable high pass and low pass settings, reverb, flexible delay settings, customizable drum kits, equalizer, and attack/release controls. These features would greatly improve Medly. Thats why I’m only rating this app 3 stars, because it’s not really for me. For now, Auxy is my choice for professional mobile music making. While Medly is not something I use often, it’s worth a try if you’re a casual user.
Amazing app. Just some suggestions.
by RyanmanOH3 on 2018/10/09 01:30
Hey Medly creators. Just writing this review to give some ideas for future updates. This app is amazing for people to use, it’s simple, useful, and runs fantastically. The ideas I had for newer updates was for integration of different time signatures. So far we have 4/4 and 3/4 with triplets. But in the future I want to be able to have it so I can make a 5/4 song with ease. As well as keys using /8 like 7/8 and 6/8. Another feature is tempo changes. I want to be able to change the tempo so I can have a beginning of a song be 90 bpm but then later I want it to be 120 bpm. These would be tremendous upgrades to an already phenomenal app and I hope to hear some feedback/see these features added in the future.
Great in some aspects, good in others
by Axilleast on 2018/10/09 15:53
This app seems like it’s really tailored to a few different genres...I bought all the packs and for me as a metal guitarist it’s somewhat limiting, I can’t manage to double bass drum and change time signature which you’d think would be pretty standard...as it is, I do use it for getting basic rhythms from my head to a tweakable medium and it’s really easy and nice to use. They’ve done a great job with everything, I just feel it’s an update or two away from being incredible. Instead of looking for more instruments or whatever to add next, try including the ability to change meters after a segment...and if these are options I haven’t discovered, then really consider a manual that covers all these nuances please! ...but seriously, really great job on the programming thus far.
Great app! Slightly upset... Please change this!
by Caiden 1111 on 2018/12/15 05:00
Don’t get me wrong. I love this app and make loads of tracks on it that I enjoy. It is easy to pick up and learn, and once you become good, you can make seemingly professional tracks. My only issue is that I used to love the fact that you can purchase different sound packs separately. With the new membership program makes it feel like a license to keep the instruments that you pay for rather than actually owning them if you get what I mean. Hopefully there can be a way to add both ways of obtaining a pack of sounds for users who don’t want to jump right into the membership. Me and many others are really looking for a change to revert back to the old ways of obtaining new sounds. I hope you understand where I’m coming from with this, and that something can be done soon! Thanks for reading!!
Great MIDI Sequencer
by Piefayth on 2018/11/08 20:43
This is EXACTLY the kind of app I was looking for, and I’m thrilled I found it. Medly has all the power that your note roll in your favorite DAW does, but with none of the extra visual noise - the interface is gorgeously simple. It even undersells itself at first; the demos make little use of the automation feature, which allows you to dynamically modify effects like volume, pitch, and reverb on a note by note basis. I’ll include my personal grievances below, but I refuse to give this great app less than five stars. The developers clearly care about creating a quality product. - The only drums in the default instrument pack are basically non-viable. Too high pitched and tinny for a good drum sound. I would honestly prefer synthesized drums from some old console chip. Luckily it sounds like there are better drums in the instrument packs. - No support for VST instruments. I haven’t purchased the ability to do imports yet, but based on the listed supported file types, this is a no-go. Understandable, but creating a proper full instrument from recordings alone is a complete nightmare. It would be a massive boon to have some kind of digital synthesizer support. - No undo button?!
This dev wants you to think you need to pay.
by TheWrittenJazz on 2019/06/21 00:27
Don’t buy anything. They say they have the best free offering on the App Store when there’s apps like audio kit synth one. How can you think yo I have the best free offering lol. Have you (the dev) even used these other apps? Why would you think you need to charge for the ability to loop? Ridiculous lol. I like the app too, I used it and tried the free 7 days, and all that did was reinforce how crazy it is to charge for the things they charge for. Instruments is one thing, simple features like looping is another. If you spend money on this app then that’s unfortunate as you could’ve just bought something actually worth the money like iMaschine or FL Studio if you really want quality. If you want free, audio kit synth one. Dev, you don’t need money the way you say you do, you WANT money. This app could’ve been developed by a high schooler in his free time with all the features for free.
Make Some Improvements
by A_G_973 on 2019/06/12 00:39
I think the app is great. There is a large variety of instruments, and there are a lot of options to easily assist with creating a song, such as adjusting the tempo and key. However, I think the app would be better if you add the option to change time signatures. Also, there are only three octaves when you add notes, so I think it would be better if you added some more to increase the pitch range. Lastly, I think it would be pretty cool if you allow users to tie/connect notes into other measures, and add an undo option for mistakes. Overall, I think the app has some really nice features but could definitely use some improvements to make it even better.
Many things!
by iBH1806 on 2018/05/22 01:07
First off, the email for support. They reply usually within 1 minute-30 minutes. This is awesome because if you need help, they’re right there and are able to assist quickly. Also, the possibilities of making music are pretty much endless. It can be slightly hard because of rhythms, but after a while, you will get the hang of it. But, I will be dropping it a star because the only type of music that is free is the starter. It’s handy for a while, until all of the sounds sound so boring. There are other packs, but they cost 3 dollars each, and 10 dollars for larger packs (multiple smaller ones inside). I know the apps need to make money, but it shouldn’t be 3 dollars for a pack of classic instruments. Other than that, great app and staff helping with the app! =)
Suggestion
by N1000and1 on 2019/06/12 15:27
Is there a way that you could set up a system as to where people could vote for the monthly pack genre? Don't get me wrong I love the app and the variety of instruments, but the sounds do have a similarity issue. Too similar. A Tropical House Pack after already have a Dancehall Pack isn't the best idea to me (Especially since Dancehall is the biggest one). When you have many versions of basically the same sound, it started to feel oversaturated. If your team were to release a genre like Synthwave or Alternative/Indie, that would be amazing Other that little thing, the app is amazing, easy-to-use, and fun. I've used it since near the beginning and it has only gotten better.🤩🤘👏
8/10 not bad
by my name jeffffff on 2020/11/09 03:39
There’s not much to complain. The prices are fair. I don’t see why people are complaining for a free app. It’s not like they charge you every time you open the app. What they’ve made is much cheaper than fl studio. The app is easy to use. You can basically take it anywhere it’s much better than all the music apps you can get. Some cost more than this. So if you want to become a future producer you should first think of prices. This is one of the cheaper ones so don’t complain about the money it’s better if you try a different app if you can’t afford it. Don’t try and haggle an app that doesn’t get as much money as all those apps that insert a 30 second video after you click on an instrument. Or take advantage of the free trial.
Great app! BUT.......
by Jona111000 on 2019/07/16 02:23
Love this app great way to start making music but my only problem is that you only get a starter loop and every other loop isn’t free so it’s kind of hard to make a different genre of music that requires a different sound or beat:( please make the loops free I could understand why the developers put the other loops for members but if you can make all the loops free that are in the app right now and add more loops that are exclusive so people have to buy the loops not join a membership it would be so much better so just make all the loops free in the app then add new ones you have to BUY thank you Because there are other apps that all the loops are free and they add new ones like every week or so. You the developers would get way more people to download the app
Issues With Imported Audio
by Kat Bogd on 2020/06/07 20:38
There is a wide range of instruments & they are fun to arrange, as well as to adjust volume, echo, reverb, etc. and the gradual progression of those through automation. Theoretically, this is a great app and the monthly subscription fee is very reasonable. However: 2) My biggest concern is the audio import feature - the fact that it is limited to only 30 seconds in length, and furthermore even if you do only have 30 seconds, it makes a weird jump in audio when split into 2 parts (even if you click continue from previous section) is very inconvenient. Having the ability to import continuous audio that flows seamlessly across sections, and goes for a longer period of time, would be enormously helpful. 1) There are also issues with some of the higher or lower notes on certain instruments, that end up sounding odd; this is a minor problem though, as most of them are fine. I believe that this app could be improved vastly through allowing imports of longer audios, and allowing those audios to be stitched together across sections without interruptions. Potentially, it could also be improved by fixing up the notes on a couple of instruments; but again, this part is minor.
Best Music Making app EVER
by WittleCato on 2020/04/03 02:12
I have tried quite a few apps but this one surpasses them all. It’s set up to be very user friendly and easy to navigate but also pleasing to the eye. I’ve bought the entire $40 a year set because the amount of sounds is crazy! They have very unique sounds and tons to choose from. Not only that but they come out with a new pack every month. I haven’t committed to music making in full but I do like to play around and make my own stuff. I’ve actually already made 4 songs and am currently working on 4 more. It’s very easy to record vocally on the phone too. I have nothing bad to say about this app! It’s my FAVORITE
Great except......
by Emoji🙂 on 2018/12/22 18:20
100% unintuitive. Many of the features have to be “discovered”, if you know what I mean. But once you explore for a few hours it’s really fun!!! I suggest starting by trying to compose “Americano”, then maybe part of “The Greatest Show” or “Rewrite the Stars”. Then once you have the hang of it, compose your own songs. Other than lack of intuitiveness, it’s a really great app for making great music!!! Update: I am currently working on three TGS songs. I still love this app and I love it more and more every time I play!! I don’t know why people complain about the music being too quiet, cause I had to turn DOWN my music because it was blasting my ears off on low volume!!! I also have no complaints about the subscription (Since some people use this app professionally) because I wouldn’t have been able to make any in app purchases(disabled). I legit don’t know why people complain. The only con is that it’s not exactly intuitive. But they do have a handbook in the settings. See the gear when viewing sections, tap it, and at the very top there’s a book icon. That’s where more detailed information is located. Oh dang this got long fast....

Hi! I made many suggestions for countless reviews before, but I saw one that stood out to me, that it’s the guitars in the rock pack, no offense but most of the guitars in that pack don’t sound to good, and I think we can all agree some heavy metal guitars are needed and not for loops, but for actual instruments in a pack, and that would be immensely helpful, thank you, as well you should also add more customization wen it comes to sound like for more EQs, more ways to edit a certain sounds like for example an attack, release, etc. and as well as some flangers and such, and this would take a level up, so I hope you consider this, thank you!!
Medly best music maker
by sans-ationalguy on 2019/03/30 18:49
I downloaded this app a while ago and I love it, one of my songs on SoundCloud has almost a hundred views, I never thought I was going to be good at making music but I am pretty good, but I didn’t know this until now, I’m trying to be a member and get better instruments and I have a visa gift card and there is 15 dollars left on it and as I was trying to make the monthly payment it wouldn’t accept my card, I know that I didn’t use it when I had 15 dollars left and it just won’t let me use the money to become a member, but that’s the only negative thing I have to say about the app, I really recommend getting the app

Pretty Good

This is the best music app ever
by Laasya Potuluri on 2021/03/23 00:57
This is the best music app I’ve ever tried and I’ve tried a lot of music editing apps. It’s a great way to produce songs. Within Medly you can produce music along with audio and much more. It has so much to offer and honestly I think it’s better than Logic Pro x which is like 200 bucks. It is definitely worth getting medly over that and besides it’s free. I highly suggest you get it if you’re a first time artist. It makes creating music so easy and so fun!

And I did NOT request Halloween because I am a Christian.

by Brandon The Cat on 2020/11/15 15:08

And there are so much parentheses.
apologies

my apologies for trying to understand your business, although i still am saying i recommended 2$ not just 75c, i do not understand completely these things since i am a child ( I'm 13). i wont argue the price anymore but i still think you guys were very rude to me and others but my rating is going to be 4 stars still. thank you for responding to my previous reviews and i wish you guys good luck previous response : you see this app is really good, i don't write reviews unless i have something i really want to say so ill just get to the point. i truly love this app and making music is so easy, but i don't agree with a subscription. i understand that the app must be expensive to produce and i appreciate that but... i think that you should give us more than one pack, even two would be good? and make the rest of the packs purchaseable for around maybe 75c-2$?? that way people can choose what sounds they want to use without worrying about a charge every month. some people don't have the money to pay each month, so i really hope my idea is looked into at least a bit, since personally i am only interested in having a few packs anyways, so if i got the subscription i would be spending a ton of money for things i don't really need. thank you for your time but i still do really enjoy this app, just not the starter pack being extremely limited and there being a ton of other packs i have to pay each month for.

Very nice, but...
by Naruto318 on 2018/12/26 15:13
This app seemed confusing at first but eventually you get used to how to use it.

I downloaded this app a while ago and I love it, one of my songs on SoundCloud has almost a hundred views, I never thought I was going to be good at making music but I am pretty good, but I didn’t know this until now, I’m trying to be a member and get better instruments and I have a visa gift card and there is 15 dollars left on it and as I was trying to make the monthly payment it wouldn’t accept my card, I know that I didn’t use it when I had 15 dollars left and it just won’t let me use the money to become a member, but that’s the only negative thing I have to say about the app, I really recommend getting the app
