It’s a nightmare just to get started; I spent my entire trial period trying to get the app to work. Now, I’m being charged monthly AND annually. Customer service is basically non-existent. Trust me AND the other 1-star reviews: AVOID THIS APP AND USE SHUDDER INSTEAD.

Nothing works with this movie service! I bought a subscription via Apple and it still wants me to pay to watch movies. Also, there are major log in problems with both app and site. Customer services keeps sending me the same ‘form letter’ email with ‘fixes’ to the problems, but none of them work. How do I talk to a real representative of the company? Totally disappointed.

I notice that although having already paid, some folk are surprised to find an offer to "subscribe" when trying to watch a selection. Just click on play and if you’ve logged on the movie will indeed play. My 3 stars are for the quality of films on offer but that, if course, is a matter of taste.
Needs fixing

I just signed up for a trial through the app and when I try to watch a movie it keeps telling me I have to subscribe, but my Itunes account says I am subscribed! Also it keeps saying my transaction was canceled if I try to restore my purchase. Forget it, I deleted the app and will be cancelling. I tried to log in from website and then it said I don’t have an account! Really???

I’ve been with Screambox almost from the beginning and all of a sudden I could no longer excess movies and it would go half way and then cancel my transaction and cont to want to subscribe—- spoke with Apple people very nice and helpful tried to contact Screambox sent many messages with explanations of what was wrong got nothing not worth the time !!!

I have an account but cannot log into it on the app! Seems to be a recurring problem that you are unwilling to address, Screambox, since this app hasn’t been updated in more than a year. The website no help either. It is slow and takes forever to load the movie. Not worth the aggravation. I cancelled both the app AND my Screambox account.

Like many people have stated, I signed up but have issues watching anything. I keep being prompted to sign up again. I contacted their customer service and they claimed it was an Apple issue. It isn’t. It’s a Screambox issue. I’m sticking with Shudder.

Don’t sign up. If you request a cancellation they will continue charging you and never respond to messages. Had to open a dispute with my credit card and cancel that card to stop the charges.

I tried signing up on the app for the free trial, and it didn't work. According to the Apple subscription page I was signed up, but I got error messages when I tried to watch anything. I emailed the company- they took over a month to reply, and basically said they couldn't help me. I tried a couple more times, each time I fit an error, and had to go through Apple to get a refund. Huge hassle. Disappointed that you can only contact them through email. It's hit or miss getting a reply. Avoid this one.

See other reviews below. They will NOT cancel your subscription during the free trial window and attempt to charge your card. Thankfully my bank is allowing me to dispute the charge and will block any further attempts by this shady group to make future charges.

Please everyone beware. The customer service is the worst I have ever seen in my life. You CANNOT cancel anytime as they say. Communication is nonexistent and they just wait till your free trial is over, take your money then cancel your subscription. So, they charge you but leave you with no service. They stole $29.99 from me. I hope this saves other people from making the same mistake. Scam alert!

Not happy at all no response from anyone been charged twice $4.99 for a service that does not work never got my free 1 month trial? Will not allow me to login all I get is not authenticated when I try ??? Customer service and helpline useless...(no 800 customer service line) don't respond at all to emails sent. All I get is an email saying someone will get back to me in 2-3 days but do not? Apple do something about this will you !!! I want a refund!!!

Some of the movies are good and hard to find, but a lot are horrible choices for horror. My main reason for the one star, you can't pay through ITunes, it has be by an actual charge card.

I had tried Screambox a while back and cancelled my subscription because I wasn't wowed by the choices. I got an offer in my email to sign back up again for $4.99 for three months. Five bucks, three months - ok, I'll give them another chance. I wish I hadn't. As others have stated, they charged my card and my account says it is active, but it asks me to subscribe every time I try to view something. I have emailed support several times and get crickets. I sent an email to cancel and opened a case on my credit card to dispute the charge. Yes, it is only $5, but it is the principal. Plus, I don't want the to keep charging me for something I'm not getting. Do not bother.

I wish I would have seen the plethora of negative reviews for Screambox before I started a "free trial". Do a quick search and you'll see this same complaint all over. You get the free trial and put yours card info in and then the only way to cancel is to email them. However, they don't respond so you get charged. IF they end up responding to me, they will not reimburse me as stated in their shady Terms. Also--read their terms closely. They state they own your account information which is your personal information. I have to cancel my bank card now. Not sure how this company is still around and not being sued. Class action lawsuit anyone?

Seems to me they give you a free trial that ends up making you pay because you have to e-mail them to cancel and it says allow 2-3 business days to reply and i cancelled well before that and it's been almost 5 days now and no response and i've been charged $4.99 for a crappy app not happy at all and i want my money back and my subscription cancelled NOW!!!!

Stay away!! The only real horror is trying to cancel their membership. It's been an ongoing mess since I cancelled in December, every month same headache to get them the credit my account. Don't waste your time or money. Oh and movie choices are dookie.

I wanted to make this work, Screambox. I really did. I just needed everything to go perfectly, and I'd be in HORROR STREAMING HEAVEN -- but that's not what happened, is it? IS IT?!?? No, you just got too jealous. Too controlling. Typical Screambox, really. Typical. # Of Movies I have watched (even 1 minute counts as "1," not counting only those I finished) on SCREAMBOX in ONE MONTH of their paid services: ZERO. 0. NOT ONE! # of devices, platforms, and various wifi connections of MORE THAN CAPABLE SPEED/RELIABILITY I tried to watch *one whole...I guess opening scene, really?....but anyway, never got so lucky to see anything like opening scenes or fancy credits! Nope. Just... "ERROR. YOUR ACCOUNT IS MALFUNCTIONING & OUR SUPPORT TEAM IS AT LUNCH, LAUGHING AT YOU. LOL. THX FOR UR $$$ SUCKER!" (Well, I added "sucker" because I wanted to keep this review G rated, unlike some Screambox devs I won't mention... tl;dr - Never could get my VERIFIED & PAID USER ACCOUNT(!) to be given access for starting/streaming ANY movie. Not once. I can login. Add movies to a watchlist. See what else I can't watch at Screambox. So it's like going to a library...only if you try to read a book, (god forbid you check on out), then the book crashes and the librarians charge you $4.99/month until you beg them to stop. THAT is what Screambox is like. Glad Shudder is so solid. I'm happy to stay with them. But anyone curious if they might want to have both services, (like I was curious), now you know. Screambox: where you wallet is all that matters & the service is/[must be, right?] some sort of huge sick joke. Adios, Screambox. After paying for a subscription, app keeps asking me to subscribe. Contacted customer service and after 4 days of emailing back and fourth problem isn't even close to being fixed. Cancelled subscription and will never be back.
No Chromecast App!

I love everything about this app except that my chromecast isn't compatible for streaming Screambox. It's a hassle since I have to disconnect from chromecast to watch Screambox via hdmi hookup from my MacBook to tv, I do hope in the near future that Screambox and chromecast can come together and provide smoother streaming options for chromecast users.

This app is a great concept but, there are so many glitches! With every movie I've watched there seemed to be some sort of error within the last 15 minutes of the movie. Another negative to this is that most of the movies are B quality. There needs to be more A type movies. If it doesn't get better with the glitches I'm canceling after my 30 day trial. I will write a better review if it gets any better.

I am excited about an app dedicated to the horror genre, but I am unable to log onto the app. I have tried and tried and just can't login. 2 stars for the attempt for mobile horror film. but it truly deserves 0 stars. Please fix this major issue, i want to like this app.

This app is a great concept but, there are so many glitches! With every movie I've watched there seemed to be some sort of error within the last 15 minutes of the movie. Another negative to this is that most of the movies are B quality. There needs to be more A type movies. If it doesn't get better with the glitches I'm canceling after my 30 day trial. I will write a better review if it gets any better.

I haven't had any problems with it. It is well-designed, navigation is similar to what is on the web site. everything you'd expect from a streaming app.

I have tried repeatedly to login, I have reset the password twice, and I have also uninstalled and reinstalled, will no luck at all. I have sent support and email with no reply. Really disappointed! Please fix this issue ASAP

Please everyone beware. The customer service is the worst I have ever seen in my life. You CANNOT cancel anytime as they say. Communication is nonexistent and they just wait till your free trial is over, take your money then cancel your subscription. So, they charge you but leave you with no service. They stole $29.99 from me. I hope this saves other people from making the same mistake. Scam alert!

It’s a nightmare just to get started; I spent my entire trial period trying to get the app to work. Now, I’m being charged monthly AND annually. Customer service is basically non-existent. Trust me AND the other 1-star reviews: AVOID THIS APP AND USE SHUDDER INSTEAD.

Nothing works with this movie service! I bought a subscription via Apple and it still wants me to pay to watch movies. Also, there are major log in problems with both app and site. Customer services keeps sending me the same ‘form letter’ email with ‘fixes’ to the problems, but none of them work. How do I talk to a real representative of the company? Totally disappointed.

I notice that although having already paid, some folk are surprised to find an offer to "subscribe" when trying to watch a selection. Just click on play and if you’ve logged on the movie will indeed play. My 3 stars are for the quality of films on offer but that, if course, is a matter of taste.

I just signed up for a trial through the app and when I try to watch a movie it keeps telling me I have to subscribe, but my Itunes account says I am subscribed! Also it keeps saying my transaction was canceled if I try to restore my purchase. Forget it, I deleted the app and will be cancelling. I tried to log in from website and then it said I don’t have an account! Really???

I’ve been with Screambox almost from the beginning and all of a sudden I could no longer excess movies and it would go half way and then cancel my transaction and cont to want to subscribe—- spoke with Apple people very nice and helpful tried to contact Screambox sent many messages with explanations of what was wrong got nothing not worth the time !!!

I have an account but cannot log into it on the app! Seems to be a recurring problem that you are unwilling to address, Screambox, since this app hasn’t been updated in more than a year. The website no help either. It is slow and takes forever to load the movie. Not worth the aggravation. I cancelled both the app AND my Screambox account.

Like many people have stated, I signed up but have issues watching anything. I keep being prompted to sign up again. I contacted their customer service and they claimed it was an Apple issue. It isn’t. It’s a Screambox issue. I’m sticking with Shudder.

Don’t sign up. If you request a cancellation they will continue charging you and never respond to messages. Had to open a dispute with my credit card and cancel that card to stop the charges.

I tried signing up on the app for the free trial, and it didn't work. According to the Apple subscription page I was signed up, but I got error messages when I tried to watch anything. I emailed the company- they took over a month to reply, and basically said they couldn't help me. I tried a couple more times, each time I fit an error, and had to go through Apple to get a refund. Huge hassle. Disappointed that you can only contact them through email. It's hit or miss getting a reply. Avoid this one.

See other reviews below. They will NOT cancel your subscription during the free trial window and attempt to charge your card. Thankfully my bank is allowing me to dispute the charge and will block any further attempts by this shady group to make future charges.

Will not allow me to login all I get is not authenticated when I try ??? Customer service and helpline useless...(no 800 customer service line) don't respond at all to emails sent. Some of the movies are good and hard to find, but a lot are horrible choices for horror. My main reason for the one star, you can't pay through ITunes, it has be by an actual charge card.

I had tried Screambox a while back and cancelled my subscription because I wasn't wowed by the choices. I got an offer in my email to sign back up again for $4.99 for three months. Five bucks, three months - ok, I'll give them another chance. I wish I hadn't. As others have stated, they charged my card and my account says it is active, but it asks me to subscribe every time I try to view something. I have emailed support several times and get crickets. I sent an email to cancel and opened a case on my credit card to dispute the charge. Yes, it is only $5, but it is the principal. Plus, I don't want the to keep charging me for something I'm not getting. Do not bother.

I wish I would have seen the plethora of negative reviews for Screambox before I started a "free trial". Do a quick search and you'll see this same complaint all over. You get the free trial and put yours card info in and then the only way to cancel is to email them. However, they don't respond so you get charged. IF they end up responding to me, they will not reimburse me as stated in their shady Terms. Also--read their terms closely. They state they own your account information which is your personal information. I have to cancel my bank card now. Not sure how this company is still around and not being sued. Class action lawsuit anyone?

Seems to me they give you a free trial that ends up making you pay because you have to e-mail them to cancel and it says allow 2-3 business days to reply and i cancelled well before that and it's been almost 5 days now and no response and i've been charged $4.99 for a crappy app not happy at all and i want my money back and my subscription cancelled NOW!!!!

I wanted to make this work, Screambox. I really did. I just needed everything to go perfectly, and I'd be in HORROR STREAMING HEAVEN -- but that's not what happened, is it? IS IT?!?? No, you just got too jealous. Too controlling. Typical Screambox, really. Typical. # Of Movies I have watched (even 1 minute counts as "1," not counting only those I finished) on SCREAMBOX in ONE MONTH of their paid services: ZERO. 0. NOT ONE! # of devices, platforms, and various wifi connections of MORE THAN CAPABLE SPEED/RELIABILITY I tried to watch *one whole...I guess opening scene, really?....but anyway, never got so lucky to see anything like opening scenes or fancy credits! Nope. Just... "ERROR. YOUR ACCOUNT IS MALFUNCTIONING & OUR SUPPORT TEAM IS AT LUNCH, LAUGHING AT YOU. LOL. THX FOR UR $$$ SUCKER!" (Well, I added "sucker" because I wanted to keep this review G rated, unlike some Screambox devs I won't mention... tl;dr - Never could get my VERIFIED & PAID USER ACCOUNT(!) to be given access for starting/streaming ANY movie. Not once. I can login. Add movies to a watchlist. See what else I can't watch at Screambox. So it's like going to a library...only if you try to read a book, (god forbid you check on out), then the book crashes and the librarians charge you $4.99/month until you beg them to stop. THAT is what Screambox is like. Glad Shudder is so solid. I'm happy to stay with them. But anyone curious if they might want to have both services, (like I was curious), now you know. Screambox: where you wallet is all that matters & the service is/[must be, right?] some sort of huge sick joke. Adios, Screambox. Your inventory was -- from what I noticed while browsing titles to get to watch from your app -- awful, at best. Cheers.

No Chromecast App!

I love everything about this app except that my chromecast isn't compatible for streaming Screambox. It's a hassle since I have to disconnect from chromecast to watch Screambox via hdmi hookup from my MacBook to tv, I do hope in the near future that Screambox and chromecast can come together and provide smoother streaming options for chromecast users.

I wanted to make this work, Screambox. I really did. I just needed everything to go perfectly, and I'd be in HORROR STREAMING HEAVEN -- but that's not what happened, is it? IS IT?!?? No, you just got too jealous. Too controlling. Typical Screambox, really. Typical. # Of Movies I have watched (even 1 minute counts as "1," not counting only those I finished) on SCREAMBOX in ONE MONTH of their paid services: ZERO. 0. NOT ONE! # of devices, platforms, and various wifi connections of MORE THAN CAPABLE SPEED/RELIABILITY I tried to watch *one whole...I guess opening scene, really?....but anyway, never got so lucky to see anything like opening scenes or fancy credits! Nope. Just... "ERROR. YOUR ACCOUNT IS MALFUNCTIONING & OUR SUPPORT TEAM IS AT LUNCH, LAUGHING AT YOU. LOL. THX FOR UR $$$ SUCKER!" (Well, I added "sucker" because I wanted to keep this review G rated, unlike some Screambox devs I won't mention... tl;dr - Never could get my VERIFIED & PAID USER ACCOUNT(!) to be given access for starting/streaming ANY movie. Not once. I can login. Add movies to a watchlist. See what else I can't watch at Screambox. So it's like going to a library...only if you try to read a book, (god forbid you check on out), then the book crashes and the librarians charge you $4.99/month until you beg them to stop. THAT is what Screambox is like. Glad Shudder is so solid. I'm happy to stay with them. But anyone curious if they might want to have both services, (like I was curious), now you know. Screambox: where you wallet is all that matters & the service is/[must be, right?] some sort of huge sick joke. Adios, Screambox. Your inventory was -- from what I noticed while browsing titles to get to watch from your app -- awful, at best. Cheers.

This app is a great concept but, there are so many glitches! With every movie I've watched there seemed to be some sort of error within the last 15 minutes of the movie. Another negative to this is that most of the movies are B quality. There needs to be more A type movies. If it doesn't get better with the glitches I'm canceling after my 30 day trial. I will write a better review if it gets any better.

I haven't had any problems with it. It is well-designed, navigation is similar to what is on the web site. everything you'd expect from a streaming app.
After repeated attempts, unable to login

I have tried repeatedly to login, I have reset the password twice, and I have also uninstalled and reinstalled, will no luck at all. I have sent support and email with no reply. Really disappointed! Please fix this issue ASAP

I am excited about an app dedicated to the horror genre, but I am unable to log onto the app. I have tried and tried and just can't login. 2 stars for the attempt for mobile horror film. but it truly deserves 0 stars. Please fix this major issue, i want to like this app.

Please everyone beware. The customer service is the worst I have ever seen in my life. You CANNOT cancel anytime as they say. Communication is nonexistent and they just wait till your free trial is over, take your money then cancel your subscription. So, they charge you but leave you with no service. They stole $29.99 from me. I hope this saves other people from making the same mistake. Scam alert!
