Best music app!!!
by darealphantom on 2020/07/13 04:30
I’ve used all of the major streaming platforms and this is hands down the best one. The music quality is superior especially when you get the best subscription to listen to the masters. The ease of use and the layout is amazing. Of course they are some things I didn’t like at first or wish the app would have and after about a year plus of use it has everything I desire and then some.
Apple Music is much better
by Biddlejs on 2020/07/13 03:00
I don’t even pay for TIDAL it’s free with sprint that being said I would rather pay the 15.89 a month for 4 lines than have this but I’m stuck with a budget. I didn’t know how digital streaming music could skip and the different streaming qualities don’t make a bit of difference it stops a lot. It fades in and out and makes me force close it then still doesn’t want to play songs. My husband who also has tidal and the same iPhone has none of these issues so I’m not exactly sure why this is happening on my phone. The way the app organizes music is odd there is not a way to sort by genre it only keeps things in albums if the entire album is saved, I do like the stations thing but for serious fix your app it’s not very good compared to other streaming services and I’m so glad it’s free idk how much it costs but jeez I would be complaining to Customer service if I had to pay for this junk or I’d just bounce.
What the hell is wrong with you
by Sddffdds on 2020/07/12 23:42
User interface is worse with every update, more and more bugs. Why do you ruin Tidal with another crappy update every week?
Horrible!
by Wifey333 on 2020/07/12 22:22
Ever since I updated the app it crashes out of nowhere. It takes forever to load the page if I’m on another app and then go back to tidal. Honestly it’s pretty annoying. Please fix this!!

by swegyptian on 2020/07/12 13:26
The last update made the genre search function only have playlists to browse on my iPhone. The recent tracks and albums are gone. Otherwise great app.
Lots of bugs
by Gromitbb on 2020/07/12 09:30
I go between pandora, Spotify and this app. I’m testing this out cause I got a 3 months free offer. The good: it offers the best quality audio but also comes at a higher price. I personally like the user interface on Tidal more than Spotify, so it would have been my first choice for music streaming. However, none all of that matters when the app CONSTANTLY crash, especially when using Apple CarPlay. There was a bug in Apple CarPlay where one songs end, it plays the next song but the display is stuck on the previous song. The bug was there for couple of months until the most recent update, but the app crash problems is still there. I just end up using Spotify cause I don’t want to restart the app on my phone and figure out what’s wrong with it while I’m driving. No way I would pay for a service that doesn’t deliver.

Please Fix These Issues.
by WhoKno's on 2020/07/12 01:07
Loudness Normalization sounds off all the time. Please find out a way to fix it, to make it sound more balanced out that way the track that play next matches the sound level of the previous track. App keeps crashing. Find out a way to stop it from crashing instead of hopeing that new updates will fix the issue. Do a better job at seperating all the artist who share the same name. Stop putting them all under the same one name, under the same one page. Also fix the tracks catagory in the my collection section. Why does the tidal logo always pops up and stay up for minutes? Leaving me unable to play a track that I have liked.
Update causes crashes

Spotify/Apple user trying out Tidal because of ALGORIDDIM
by jennyt512 on 2020/07/10 21:22
Hi, I started to use Tidal because ALGORIDDIM APP DJAY is no longer compatible with Spotify so I had to get Tidal. First off everything seems good but I curate playlists and was highly disappointed in your latin playlists. One specifically for “perreo” and many songs are duplicates, NOT perreo, I even found bachata in there. I would love to help you out in the latin genre, I curate many playlists on my Apple app. Also there is no optio for lyrics. I find myself trying to use your app but also wanting to sing along so I just switch back to Apple Music, especially now that they are better at adding lyrics and they lyrics flow with the song. So I keep trying to use your app but I find myself flowing back to Spotify for their better curated latin playlists and Apple for lyrics. Really want to use yours more because of ALGORIDDIM hmu to help with curating real perreo.
Great app!

Needs work...still
by Isaach81 on 2020/07/09 17:48
I have used this app on and off for years now. Trying to find a reason to commit but what is consistent is the app needs stability help. Buffers so bad with even hifi files. Mastered ones sound AMAZING but not worth the few that are for $20 a month. Gobble battery. Also if the mastered file thinks for too long it just skips to the next track. This app has been out too long to be this buggy. Get close to as intuitive as Spotify and I'd switch. But for now not worth it.
Shouldn’t have to pay to listen to music
by Just.an.average.teen. on 2020/07/09 17:40
I feel like a music app shouldn’t need to be payed for I’d rather listen to Spotify with ads than pay to listen to music also great tease with a welcome playlist I couldn’t listen to 👌 very nice but not using it ever
Freezes and Crashes
by jonny good name on 2020/07/09 16:57
I’m using an iPhone 11 Pro and the tidal app crashes on every single listen. I love the puns quality and the numerous mixes, but if this keeps up for long, I’ll have to go back to Spotify. Being able to play music is better than high quality music that cuts out all the time because the app has crashed.

by Fear187i on 2020/07/08 01:16

by Franekbrady on 2020/07/08 00:40
I was charged twice for renewal For over $300 a year I thought it would have better playback I understand high quality could take more time to load 8 minutes to play a 2 minute song is a little disappointing sounds extremely well when it plays pop up in app claims Waze can be used at same time it works drains 30% of your battery in about an hour sounds amazing buffers about every 5 seconds iPhone 11 Pro is device being used it’s not the most expensive wireless carrier but it’s not the cheapest unlimited data full bars of service maybe it will get better I am a sucker for sound quality which has been the best is why I have cancelled and back again thinking problem with songs loading would be fixed nothing has changed in several months my $25.99 I pay can be used anytime how about making app the same if streaming at such a high quality is not possible for wireless devices please stop advertising it can be done My automatic renew will renew every month no problems And don’t send some lame a** Sorry about your troubles bla bla bla it don’t make your app work any better
Worked great until it didn’t
by Sjdndlcuagsbnfkcb on 2020/07/07 23:51
First I’m very disappointed the swipe left for similar songs is gone. WHY remove the best feature to the app!!!??? Second, it says you can have a couple shared users, but yet all of a sudden I’m getting booted out constantly with it saying “playing on another device”. BUT interestingly the other person I share with were together the other day and it was booting us out when the other person was there not using it. Don’t know if this is a glitch or what. But seriously thinking of not using anymore. What’s the point when you can’t listen to tour playlist!!!
Bring back suggested songs!!!
by Huh bvsd on 2020/07/07 22:09
I just got a new phone so I was required to finally update the app and the swipe left / swipe right features to view Queue and suggested songs is gone! You can still access play queue with a button but the suggested songs is completely gone. One of my favorite features, it made it quick and easy to access similar songs I may like based on the song I am listening to at the moment.

I’m a big music fan and I love to get as much information about a song as possible. I love how Tidal gives you the composers, whose doing BGV (Background Vocals)and producers. And then you can search other songs that those people have produced or composed as well. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Great quality
by odessy00 on 2020/07/07 13:50

Beware of thieves
by pbaker1114 on 2020/07/07 12:52
I erroneously downloaded this app while watching videos and I have been trying to stop the subscription, I have emailed several times, requested review, written a letter and mailed via snail mail but I am still unable to get a response from Tidal or even locate a phone number to speak with someone. This app should be brought to court for all the stolen money they are collecting.
$13 a month or you get nothing.
by bsbskdidhevebe on 2020/07/07 12:02
Would not recommend at all. You have to pay $13 a month to play “ playback of TIDAL’s live video channel” which has very very little of anything whatsoever. Much less something you want to listen to. Waste of time. Spend $20 going through every single artist I enjoyed for the opening to the app for nothing.

Great offerings and a little room for improvement
by pw sf on 2020/07/06 05:13
All good but for one thing... the interface is more wonky and illogical than it should be. I like the ability in Apple Music to just play all of my songs on shuffle when I don’t want to spend time thinking about what to queue up. Why can’t I do this on TIDAL? Seems like a feature that could be added without effort. I also am a little baffled about how from my phone, laptop and Apple TV app the placement of items is different... I’m actually not that in to videos but on Apple TV TIDAL seems to view audio only offerings as the least important item... they do know that many people run their high end stereo systems using the app... currently one has to scroll all the way down through the same classic videos and movies to find new music, and after I play a new release it kicks me back to the top when all I wanted back up one step and play the next new track or a different new album. Huh? They have focus groups and all that they take feedback from right? But if I swallow my irritation with these kind of inexplicable weirdnesses TIDAL is the best of the streaming crowd. Please developers note the flexibility and ease we all need and up your game the rest of the way... if this is your best please know it’s not keeping up with the other guys.
Better than I expected
by IfkingWrite on 2020/07/06 01:58
Well, I was drawn in with the family plan, 360 reality audio hooked to my new headphones. Sound is incredible coming through just my pc speakers. And I do have a sensitive ear when it comes to too much treble and other noise. This sound is crisp, clean, loud, beats nicely defined. Try it. If you don’t like it, cancel it and move on.

by Briannapizza on 2020/07/05 04:38
I love the app. I used to use Spotify but I’ve fallen in love with Tidal. And I love the changes and additions that have been made over the years like “my mix” that chooses songs based on artists you like. One thing I would love to see is the addition of lyrics for the songs.

by ThatGuy... No not him. HIM! on 2020/07/05 03:51
The Hi-Fi sound difference is cool as well as the apps layout. The search feature is dope & caught my attention when I first opened the app. Runs well even w/ a couple of other apps open. Has yet to crash on me. A wide selection of music/videos to choose from & pretty good (hip hop is the only one I’ve been thru so far) playlist.

I will never use Tidal again. I got on account and it’s saying that I don’t have tidal premium when I just got $12.99 taken out of my card for it. I cancel the subscription because I didn’t want it to be taken out of my card again & it is saying that I don’t have Tidal premium now even though I should still have it till August 3rd. This is not okay. Where is my money? Or where is my tidal premium???? This is NOT okay!
Love it but have one suggestion
by Fitwithcharlie on 2020/07/04 02:48
I have been loving the Tidal App. I have one major suggestion. I know that we can block artists with we don’t want songs with explicit lyrics. Why now have a switch in the option area that say turn on or off explicit music. For example. If you have the option to include explicit music the song would be BOLD. If you don’t want to be able play that explicit song and if have this feature one that the song title will be dimmed a little but you can still see the title of that song. And offer the clean version as well. If you give this option then I would be happy to give you 5 stars. I apologize for any spelling or grammar issues or mistakes.

WHY !??
by rdanka on 2020/07/03 12:29
Changing the swipe left feature to play suggested tracks was a BAD MOVE. That was arguably the best addition to this app. Heavily considering changing Smfh Idk who was in charge of that idiotic move but u need to change that back immediately!!! The convenience of swiping left is unmatched
Many songs play at different volume levels
by Gcrazy00 on 2020/07/03 02:46
When playing, it is very common when playing a song, the volume gets adjusted then the next song is blasting without me changing the volume on the speaker. I have loudness normalization on, but that doesn’t do anything. This includes the remix songs also. Besides the volume issue, good App and enjoy it.
Sound is great but app needs work
by SOSok on 2020/07/02 22:13
I like the sound obviously, especially the masters. I like the staff picks and other mixes they create. I don’t like rap and there is kind of a rap emphasis which I don’t care for. The real problem is the app and specifically how it works with Sonos and apple car play. It just is way behind others in that category. I’m going to stick with it and hope it gets better in time because the quality and acoustics are worth it.

Just a few issues...
by Zay2293 on 2020/07/01 17:09
almost at the end of my free trial. PLEASE add an apple watch app. I hate having to carry my iphone with me when I workout just to listen to music, due to your lack of an app for the apple watch. Also, when connected to car bluetooth, the app glitches. when I leave the car, the music will pause. but when I get back in the car, it will not automatically start playing again. it makes me manually force close the app on my iphone and go back into the tidal app to resume playing (this also restarts the song i was playing, and sometimes the whole playlist. very annoying). i didn’t have this issue with apple music. I get “error loading this content” when trying to load my playlists through apple carplay, which, again, forces me to manually pull out my phone and do it from there. hopefully tidal reads this review and fixes these issues, as this would truly perfect the app and I would leave 5 stars. the sound quality is amazing, music definitely sounds the way the artist intended. the layout takes a little getting use to if you’re use to apple music, but I actually now prefer the layout of tidal. i love the tidal mixes and the different stations that they have available. it could be a perfect app if they fix these issues. not sure if i’ll be continuing to use it after my free trial ends, the lack of an apple watch app and the glitches that I put up with on daily basis (the ones I listed earlier) are a big turn off for me.

by hdkskskskalamsjwj on 2020/06/30 18:03
I’m about to cancel my subscription with this app. I’ve had an issue with my music “being paused due to streaming on another device” when in fact I don’t. I’ve logged out, logged back in. I have changed my pw twice now thinking someone “compromised it” and this issue is still occurring. It’s happened multiple times in the past as well and this point it’s ridiculous to pay for something that doesn’t work correctly. I’m going back pandora, it’s free and at least it works. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Almost the best music app ever!
by Latinomanhayes14 on 2020/06/30 01:25
What I mean by almost is other than the fact that the audio has been mastered and or remastered or however they put it, one thing that would be cool that I have noticed with other music apps, is that lyrics are available for songs! Sometimes I get carried away with the quality that this app brings to music but I would love to be able to sing along with songs that I am getting to know or even my favorite songs that I don’t know the lyrics to! I don’t know if this review will even be read by the developers but if that is something that you might be able to incorporate in the not so distant future, I feel like many more people, other than myself, would greatly appreciate this feature! It’s so nice to be able to listen to CD and studio quality versions of songs. There’s so many sounds that I really missed out on and I only go back on my old music apps to look up songs that I have saved just so I can listen to them on tidal! Definitely worth the money or free trial, which ever you can get your hands on!

I switched from another streaming service and like Tidal so far. I do not use the Lossless music service, just the standard. Things I like are the music sound quality, playback, artist & album information, search function, streamlined design, ease of making playlists, syncing across all devices and the many curated personal Mixes they offer. The Videos are a nice bonus as well, especially on Roku. Things I don’t like are the lack of a sleep timer and lack of ability to “add to end of play queue” or “add last”, it only has the option to “play next” if you want to add an album or song to the current play queue. Overall it’s a great music service even though it is not perfect. I haven’t found a perfect one yet, but Tidal is focused on the music and personal mixes primarily which I like. I like the most that they include artists’ bios and album information,.
Great Fidelity, Excellent Playlists
by L. Ruiz on 2020/06/29 19:46
The sound quality is insanely good. Also, the playlists are much more responsive and fresh than iTunes or Spotify. I feel like I’ve found tons of new artists and not just the label pushed stuff you find elsewhere.
I like Tidal and want to see the platform grow
by TaiMillionaire on 2020/06/29 03:40
I’ve been a sworn user to Tidal as my only music streaming service. It hasn’t disappointed at all. I hope to see Tidal, get in on more localized talent and do more live shows the Tidal X shows were super dope, love the platform and the mission!

Nota fan based service. I’m done.
by Runner with a dadbod on 2020/06/28 22:25
I stand by my previous reviews, especially when they’ve been deleted. I lost all of my downloaded music and other information today. With so many subscribers upset with Tidal, why aren’t these issues being fixed? (And I don’t mean with their detrimental updates). I’ve been with Tidal since it’s launch, but I’m really irritated. I lost Beats when Apple ruined it, I foolishly thought that this was a good service, and it was, for a little while. Not anymore.
Storage issues

I have no downloaded music yet this app is using 1.3GB of storage. It must go as it really isn’t that good anyway.

The quality is unlike anything out there!
by Tentsu Classic on 2020/06/28 02:40
Competing premium music services just can’t compete. The clarity is insane; I’m hearing all my music in new and more appreciative ways and rediscovering familiar songs in a new light. The interface is intuitive and also gives you a guided tour as you go if you are new to music streaming. On top of all that the AI and learning/suggestive technology outperforms the likes of Spotify and Apple Music. This platform is an absolute must have, hands down. Give it a try for yourself.

Why the teal playback color? Great app
Love the app just a small annoyance
by Rayel G on 2020/06/27 21:29
I like listening to playlists on shuffle. However when I click shuffle and then click another song, it automatically goes back to playing the songs in order causing me to press shuffle again. It's a little annoying
Search Option.
by SurpremeLoco on 2020/06/27 21:01
I’ve been using Tidal for several years now: I really like the app. However recently I’ve been experiencing some annoying problems. And also I miss the old way to navigate to your song que. Lately in tidal, if I search and artist, their info will come up, but if I tap search again, the app won’t bring back the search bar. It’s annoying and hard to get the search bar back. Another issue I have is, before, swiping left on a song that’s playing brings up related songs. Now it changes the song.. I miss the old feature and really need it back. It helped me find new music and kept my playlist going smoothly. The que used to be much easier to navigate to also.

Music Is Not Continuous
by Mr. 904 on 2020/06/27 15:01
Recently switched from Spotify and I’m enjoying Tidal thoroughly...minus one glitch. Please fix whatever glitch that doesn’t allow Tidal to play continuously without stopping. When connected to CarPlay, my music stops after every song. This is annoying and I will drop my subscription if it’s not fixed ASAP!
My 1 complaint

I just find it annoying it plays music that isn’t in my playlists when I want it to repeat, other than that it’s perfect.
Unexpected quality

Breath Taking
by carrick2591 on 2020/06/25 06:06
So I was little nervous getting this app ($26 for the beat subscription is a lot in my opinion), but it comes with a free month trial so I figured why not? I have Spotify, and I love the quality, especially with my over ear Nuraphones (get them if you don’t have them, they pair awesome with Tidal). Now, I’m a classical musician who listens to everything from Yo-Yo Ma and Pavarotti to System of Down. All I can say is wow. I mean, WOW. It’s like listening to music for the first time. You hear nuances, depth, vocal reflections, and you feel music. It’s like breathing for the first time. I was listening to the theme from “Gabriel’s Oboe” by Yo-Yo Ma and I was in tears. There’s something about the high quality that just makes you feel something. You can’t quite put your finger on it other than it’s something you’ve never quite experienced. In a day age of compression, thinning, and small size music files, this completely blows every other music app out of the water. I have a headphone preamp coming tomorrow, and I don’t know how this experience can get any better, but I can’t wait to find out. Get the app, even for a month free, experience something life changing, and you’ll not regret it. Well...you’ll regret going back to another streaming app if you give up on this app. It’s worth the $26 a month.

MQA content now available(with 1 issue). Tidal is a must have!
by Pmdagg on 2019/04/02 02:04
I have had tidal for about 10 months now and I’ve gotten the most out of what apple offered when it comes to streaming HiFi music. One thing that was a small disappointment with the iOS app before was the inability to play MQA (Masters) content. The only way to utilize MQA content was via my MacBook Air desktop app. Today I was fooling around with the app settings and noticed that Tidal updated the app in version 2.7 to allow iPhone users the ability to listen to MQA content. I assumed this wasn’t ever going to happen due to apple’s hardware. Well now this app, which already deserves 5 stars(apples problem not tidal) has made it a must have service for Audiofile music lovers like myself. Listening to Tidal MQA music on the iPhone X with my sennheiser HD600’s through apples USB camera adapter connecting with my audio quest dragonfly red finally gives iPhone users the desired music quality they deserve. There’s not an IOS app that I’m aware of that allows better than CD quality streaming than Tidal. It’s now worth every penny spent! The only problem is that not all MQA content downloads as MQA. Some so, some don’t Oh yea, if your a military veteran you can sign up for a discounted monthly offer for the top notch account that saves you $4 a month. Thanks Tidal!
Read the Zappos book on customers

I started selling high end audio equipment back in the 90s, to me the popularity signaled the end of the high end audio Industry and the backlash of consumers against record companies for producing and supporting music distribution mediums that wore out, or scratched easily. I should have known better that people would help move file based music into the hi-fi so many of us cling too. Supported by this trend, I signed up for Tidal with a hi-fi account. The sound quality does come through, and my Oppo application usually works with Tidal, that about where my satisfaction with Tidal ends. First UX, what year is it? Offline sorting, display of albums, vs artist and general navigation smack of early 2000s expect the availability of modern program languages reveal either the incompetence of Tidal’s product team or they have outsourced their UX to a bank. Customer support is impossible to contact. The last time I tried, their wasn’t any authentication between the app my account and their ticketing system, so each time I wrote a ticket and submitted it, I got a message saying I wasn’t authorized. I unsuccessfully emailed and took to Twitter, none of the channels replied. What a dismal and useless waste of money. I consider this a major management failure. Good luck, when you are selling for pennies on the dollar refer to this review. Make your customers happy and they won’t have to lower their gaze when people ask why they are using Tidal in public.
App review: Great but needs essential updates!
by Ing on 2019/06/15 03:33
Ok, Tidal gets a lot right... sounds great, especially the MQA stuff ... closest to analog I’ve heard thus far (HiFi tier only)... I’d give their service 4 stars, it’s the app I give 3...the app misses because there’s no easy way to search when you are in offline mode, which is a must do when trying to make sure you don’t waste data downloading hi-res files! Need shuffle within artist, better playlist controls... maybe even a toggle for making sure it only downloads over WiFi? I don’t know, I like Tidal a lot, especially after my iTunes library was messed up due to its inherently flawed “matching” system... obviously there is no matching abilities with Tidal at all, the draw for me is having a separate rental app and having my iTunes library synced from my Mac Pro without “matching” deciding to match random tracks with different masters from the album a track is originally from or screwing up my cover art... anyway, the MQA and full resolution downloads make Tidal is very very realistic and tempting alternative for the long haul for music rental. Wish the desktop version allowed downloads for offline listening too... Random missing albums are an issue too... why certain albums aren’t available is odd especially if an artist is on Tidal and the album isn’t that old...
My Only Problems
by rocavija on 2018/03/22 01:08
I've been a dedicated Apple Music user for years but I'm looking for a change so I created a trial account and so far I've been loving it! Most music streaming services are similar so there really isn't anything revolutionary about another streaming service, it's all about preference. Tidal is a great service that provides a great app, but I have three problems with the app and web browser that are making the service difficult to fully enjoy. I don't like that it's not possible to save specific tracks of an album as ONE album, instead they save as "tracks" as a seperate category. I'm a neat freak so I like oragnization and that method of seperateing between tracks and albums is inconvenient. There should be a page for albums (you can save any tracks you want from the album) and there should be a tracks page where ALL the songs in your library are shown and there should be the option to play ALL the tracks on shuffle, or in order, etc. I also don't like that there isn't an option to organize albums by artist AND release date. The first and problem is far more important to me than the second one. I hope Tidal would make this change, if they do, they'll have a subscriber for life.
Terrible, not worth the $$$$$.
by Howy Doody on 2020/06/23 02:20
I like hi quality sound having grownup with vinyl as basically the only form of recorded music. That said, I find it hard to conceptualize how HiFi, being analog by nature, can be completely reproduced in a digital environment. That said, I thought I would give it a try and might have even heard a little difference but for the $25 per month I am not sure it is worth it. Considering that is more money monthly than 2 HD video streaming services and considering that TIDAL doesn’t seem to interface well nor does it feel very intuitive. But, here is my biggest pet peeve; I contacted them for service and found no phone support! Twenty-five dollars per month and no phone support! Outrageous! Worse, I emailed them and 3 days later they responded and so it went. Two weeks later they had not even figured out my account. I am not used to being treated like that especially for $300 per year. If we are going to pay that kind of money for music streaming service they should be prepared to treat us like royalty. HD music from Apple and Pandora sounds good to me and while some may be saying I don’t have an ear, I studied voice with one of the top coaches in the country with gold records on his wall from a number of his students and my father was one of jazz’s greats. I am willing to pay for what I get if it’s worth it but I ain’t paying for a limo and riding the bus!
The Music quality is unrivaled, still no Siri or Apple Watch integration
by _StarQuality on 2019/10/30 01:16
I not an expert in audio so I honestly didn’t have any expectations that I would notice any difference between NORMAL quality and the MASTER, but I have to say I was blown away. The master quality is superb, songs I’ve listened to hundreds of times completely transform, and all the details, layered sound, and 3 dimensional effect take the music to elevated level of intimacy. I appreciate Tidal for providing a studio quality experience. However, I really wish that lyrics where where available in the app I think any true music platform should have a lyrics feature. Also, since such a large portion of tidal subscribers use Apple devices it would be nice if there were Siri integration and Apple Watch compatibility for this app. I want nothing more to be able to ask Siri to play my morning drive playlist in the tidal app. And I wish I could leave my phone in the house to go for a morning jog and still be able to stream my favorite songs . The Apple Watch has come so far and I use to make calls, check the news, and stream my favorite podcasts why can’t I browse thru my tidal music selection from my watch ?
Best source for high end sound!
by Scudman on 2019/09/17 18:23
I just purchased a new stereo system and the first thing I wanted to do was upgrade the music sources since MP3 was not cutting it for me anymore. With a pair of B&W 702s and a new Denon AVR-4500H, is wasn’t scrimping on the equipment and I certainly wasn’t going to scrimp on the sound sources anymore so when I found Tidal, I jumped headfirst and amped up to be able to get MQA files, both streaming and downloading. Ran into a little snag though and that was the iPhone wouldn’t send MQA files wirelessly so kept digging and ended up purchasing a Cobalt Dragonfly DAC and connected it to the iPhone via their lightning camera kit to allow the Dragonfly to connect via USB. I then connected it to my amp with a mini jack coming out of the Dragonfly and split to a pair of RCA outlets into an analog connection. Cooking now! Fantastic sound!! My only complaint is that a friend sent me a playlist with about 2000 songs on it and it’s too unwieldy to scroll through. I’ve downloaded all the songs via the playlist but can’t find them outside of the playlist. No new Albums or Artists show up, just the one playlist. Tidal, please fix this!
Pleasantly surprised
by Iphone 007 on 2019/03/14 11:47
I’m a mastering engineer so as you can my expectations were high for sound quality. I knew the HiFi $20/month would sound better than any other streaming service but I didn’t want to pay that much right now. So I decided to test the premium version (320kbps) against Spotify’s Extreme version (320kbps) and to my surprise Tidal was cleaner, more depth, and overall changed my experience. I am now sold to Tidal until the competition decides to raise their music quality to at least match Tidal’s premium. Tidal still has some work to do to match Spotify’s features like blocking explicit tracks and better integration with other systems like Alexa. And one of the most annoying things about Tidal for me was the constant push of hip hop in your face. I got over it once I started to play more what I liked. The home screen improved a lot after that. But if you’re serious about sound quality and still hesitating spending $20 a month don’t because their $10 version beats any other $10 service.
waiting for the Apple Watch app
by Tjovian on 2020/01/28 08:42
I’ve been using iTunes and Apple Music solely for 15 years and I’ve stayed locked into the ecosystem because it was convenient and familiar, but after I was given a turn-table as a gift a year ago I rediscovered the beauty of vinyl. I began to record my vinyls as lossless files you listen to on the go in the VOX app, but the app is terribly buggy, crashes often, and after a recent update keeps nagging me to buy a premium subscription to play music I already own, which is just ridiculous. I decided that if I had to pay subscription fees, I’d be better off looking for a service that could save me the hassle of having to record my vinyls, encode, split, tag, and transfer to my mobile devices and was deciding between trying Tidal and Qobuz, but wound up picking Tidal due to the reviews I read and the price point (HiFi access with student pricing for $5?!?, I couldn’t sign up fast enough). I still have Apple Music so I can listen to audio using just my cellular Apple Watch when I’m mowing the lawn or out kayaking, but the 2 hours a day I spend commuting is more luxurious now that I’m able to easily play hi-res audio on my Harman Kardon system in my car.
Good but could be better
by Medolarklime on 2020/03/25 15:06
The main reason i switched from other platforms is because of Jay Z availability and other artists’ partnerships. One of the most frustrating parts of the app is the necessity of having to manually add artists to collection when adding their songs. This should be either automatic or i should be given the option to make it automatic. Also why aren’t songs added to my collection, on the mobile app, a different color or some other way to identify??? I can clearly see on the non mobile version the green heart icon. Also, on the mobile app, why do i have to scroll thru my 3000 plus songs without a quick scroll option? If filtered alphabetically, and the song starts with a “z”, i have to scroll thru 2999 songs!! Also playback has issues I thought stemmed from my 7 year old iPhone 6 but they continued with my brand new 11. The App will periodically freeze and buffer. Sometimes wont play songs that I’ve played literally 30 seconds before. Shuts down by itself. Automatically reverts to shuffling songs recently played for some reason. Etc. I haven’t completely let go of my other subscription because of these issues.

I absolutely love this streaming service! I have a very eclectic mind and listen to everything from Disney to Country to Pop to Rap, and most genres in between. One thing that I would love to see on here though is the option to search in your own playlist. I have almost 2,000 songs on my “Everyday” playlist, and it can be daunting to scroll and try to remember what number the song was. To make this easier as well, if there was a way to put artists/songs in alphabetical order from a cell phone on your individual playlist, that would be helpful. Even if a search option isn’t in the near future. I know that it is possible from a PC but I haven’t been able to on my phone. One feature that was added that I am extremely grateful for, was the “duplicate” feature. Some songs I hear on the radio, think to add them on my playlist, and before I wouldn’t know that it was already on there, but now I do! It was just in the mix of the 2,000 that I already have. All in all, I love the service/app and will (and do) recommend it to anyone that asks what I use.
Music is good, UX is so-so
by carode on 2020/02/03 00:49
The master quality recordings sound noticeably better. The selection of music is pretty impressive. I use it most of the time on my phone in my car via a Bluetooth device called Tune2Air, but also on my iPad with a Bluetooth speaker at home. The UI/UX of the app itself leaves lots to be desired. It often doesn’t remember where you left off on a playlist—either starts from the top or it replays songs you already heard the last time you listened. It does nor retain whether you had a playlist on shuffle or not, or at least it doesn’t keep shuffling if that’s what you were using. It’s not easy to create playlists, not intuitive—far too many taps and you can only add one song at a time. Yeah, that’s right, it’s a a music app that makes it unpleasant to create playlists. I’ve also done searches for an exact song name, spelled it right, and it says “no results.” Then I search instead for the artist and I find the song. Weird. I recommend you hire some peeps to develop your app properly, Tidal. The quality of your app is nowhere near the quality of the content you offer. But it should be. Frustrating.
5 stars is not enough!!!!!!!&
by moorejason1981 on 2019/05/06 22:44
Tidal app is what I spent most of my time on. Far as I know they have everything but Tool. I’m sure it’s not cause Tidal forgot. Tidal when playing MASTER QUALITY sounds better than any streaming app I ever wasted my time on. Not all albums or artist are in MQA. But I love seeing that (M) beside a track or by an album. I’m so glad ISO finally got MQA. I knew they was working on it and the day I could play Tidal on my new iPhone XS Max an email was sent and I been blown away by every update and the awesome interface and of course all the music you can search for. Make sure you know they spelling of the band or you may think Tidal doesn’t have it. But sure enough they do. Do yourself all a favor go on and get Tidal HIFI/MQA!!! It’s the one that cost more. Not premium that one is not the best one. It’s still good but spend a few bucks more and listen to the sound!!!!!!!!! Can’t say enough. Jammin right now!!!!!’ Tidal is hands down the best app on my iPhone to date. Thank you to everybody at Tidal!!!!!
Love this app but 2 things I hate.
by shebej on 2020/03/26 10:43
I really used to like tidal but I hate updating the app because there’s always changes that I absolutely HATE. I’ve had it for a few years but what happened to the artist radio stations?!? Did the “mix” replace them? If so, I don’t like that because it doesn’t really allow me to listen to music based off of an artist or song I’m currently into. I also don’t like that if I pause a song or go out of the app it doesn’t play the last song I was listening to or just pick back up where it was paused. It ALWAYS goes back to the song that was playing when I first started listening to a play list or album 😠 sooo annoying. So, if it started on the first song originally it will ALWAYS go back to the first song unless I’ve repeated a song multiple times then it will always start from that song 🤦🏼‍♀️. I really don’t understand why it started doing this. So ANNOYING!!!!! Other than those two things I enjoy the content it provides, it usually has any song you’re looking for, and good sound quality.
Great Streaming Quality— But...
by D Money Tha Don on 2020/02/07 11:43
I absolutely am living Tidal’s HiFi streaming quality! It’s so good that I ended my Apple Music subscription. I have found a few annoying flaws in the mobile app that the developers should fix asap for a better experience. First, when I download an album to my collection, the album only goes to the Albums section while the individual tracks do not get added to the tracks section on My Collection. Second, the Apple CarPlay doesn’t seem to be linking like it should so I usually have to have music playing OR physically open my phone and start a playlist (but it’s designed as if you should be able to control everything from the CarPlay screen). Lastly, I ‘d like Tidal to add a button on the Apple CarPlay screen to add songs to My Collection. Apple Music has this function and it makes my life A LOT easier when I hear a new song that I want to save (not to mention safer for drivers). Other than these 3 things that I’d like to see addressed, this is a great streaming app that will deserve 5 stars and your money.
The best streaming app out!! Hands down!
by Sey Wha?! on 2019/11/10 21:42
I have been using Tidal desktop and app for over a year now. Let me tell you. This is hands down the best streaming app out there. The sound quality in high def and videos as well is unmatched! They have exclusive content that you won't get or see anywhere else on the web. So, don't even try to look for it if an artist says they're only premiering it on Tidal cause they are very strict about that. They offer exclusive early access to concerts and other special events, which I haven't attended yet. But I will very soon. Also, I'm a music producer so I find music based on their algorithms that I can't get on any other streaming app or service. You can tell this app was made by very passionate artists and musicians. I love it!!!! And always tell others about it. I have yet to meet someone who doesn't feel the same way I do who has the app as well. So, that should tell you something.❤️
No streaming over cellular (AT&T)
by Jordaaaannnnn on 2018/07/13 14:41
Streaming music on cellular data hasn’t worked for over a month. All my friends and family with TIDAL have this same problem. I like TIDAL and have been trying to justify still paying for it, but at this point I’ve gotta switch to a different service. I reached out to customer support via email to ask how to fix this problem or how to get a refund, and it took 10 days before they responded and asked for my account info. I sent them back my info and a reiteration of the problem. It’s been 2 weeks with no response. I l want to support TIDAL, but they’re not allowing me to use the service they purport to provide (streaming music.) Since they’re not selling me a product, I suppose I’m just giving the company a monthly donation. It’s obvious that they know about the problem but haven’t figured out how to fix it. They’ve released several updates without addressing the problem that MANY users have brought to their attention. When I brought the problem to their attention via email they stopped responding. Again, I’d prefer to be a customer, not a donor. Unfortunately, as of right now, I’m a donor because TIDAL does not offer any service that can be used or consumed.

Been using Tidal for a while with no complaints, mostly would like to see some improvements to app like lyrics, but I’m patient and understand it might take a second to implement..Anyways for whatever reason since I updated a version or two ago, my music will not always play and sometimes it’ll cut off. Or, if I add music to the my Play Queue it will not continue playing always. This is kinda of frustrating as I know it’s not my connection because it used to always play and I have no other data issues besides Tidal randomly cutting off. Also I would love if the search could be improved sometimes you could put the EXACT word-for-word/letter-for-letter song and artist into it, and it still will not show up as some of the top results (Example: “Money” by Cardi B does not show up when searched like “Money Cardi B”, instead it shows up her other song “Money Bag” as well as a few more results from other artists before you can find it, so its a little inconvenient)
Amazing service, great quality, just need a few touch ups
by Mclaren_7 on 2019/04/13 17:41
The service that tidal provides is top notch. After listening to my favorite music for about 10 mins made me realize how great of a product this is. And being a hifi subscriber I have to say it is well worth the money. But having tried many other streaming services I will have to say that the artist section on tidal needs a little work. On other platforms when you download music you can easily just go to the artist section and see all the artist that you listen to. On tidal currently you have to go to the artist profile, like it then the pop up in the artist section. I would just like to go to artist see all the artist I have either liked their profile or downloaded their music. And then I can see all the music by that artist that is in my library and select which album or tracks I want to hear. But overall I like how far tidal has grown in a short time and can’t wait to see where the platform goes next.
Like Netflix for music
by Only available in some areas on 2019/11/06 21:12
I appreciate the videos and custom or exclusive content you get from tidal. Lots of live shows and interviews that I want to see more of from my favorite artists. Not to mention the music videos? Way high quality video and audio sound. 10/10 if you have high quality headphones and appreciate not just hip hop but all good music. Some more obscure stuff is found here, too. Happy to see tidal improving over time. My only complaint is that I can’t get Siri to play something from tidal but that’s apple’s fault not tidal. Would like to see some Siri integration from tidal if possible or on google and Alexa to compete more on that front. Also the suggested song algorithm is pretty good at introducing me to new songs I do like. But I think the algorithm needs more work to improve because I get the same songs over and over. I also want more ways to save my music. But honestly, tidal is bomb. 9/10 overall
Updates

Love the app. Love the selection of music. Love the features like interviews, concerts, playlists and the ability to download content. Love the fact that this service shares more revenue with the artist. A few updates I would like to see in the future is the option to download singles/stand alone songs. The only way to download as of now is when the single is attached to an album. Also, it would be nice to close the app, reopen the app and still have my content in the same position it was in before it closed. If the app closes for any amount of time, I have to go in an find the album I was listening to all over again. Maybe Tidal can be installed directly to a device, like “apple music” is and that way Tidal can work as a mechanism of the phone instead of just a web based app. This would help with functionality a lot. Like I said, LOVE the app. I will continue my subscription. Just my two cents.
Amazing AI + Human Curation
by WaveVidz on 2019/05/14 19:05
I’ve tried them all (or just about) and, as someone who refuses to listen to music on the radio because the playlists are so completely lame, I unequivocally have to say that the human and software power behind this service is stunningly good. I have never discovered this amount of stellar, new (to me) music in such a brief time, ever. The curation is fantastic with adventurous, wide ranging playlists to suit any taste while also driving you deeper into new, related sonic territory. The AI is equally impressive as it seamlessly follows up on your listening. Of the new music chosen by the service based on my listening patterns, I’d say 85-90% seriously hit the mark (vs. 10-15% for the other services I’ve tried). I find myself constantly hitting “Add to My Collection” so that I can follower later on what the hell that great tune was. And the audio quality is as good as it gets though it’ll cost you a bit more.
Favorite Music Service By Far...BUT...
by kttuggle on 2017/11/18 17:48
I love just about everything about Tidal. The expansive music library, the exclusive content, the articles, the series, podcasts, videos, live shows...I can get every single thing that I need for my music fix from this app. It’s honestly unmatched. The ONLY complaint that I have is that the “Add to Play Queue” feature doesn’t work correctly when music is already playing. If I’m trying to add an album to my queue to play after the one that’s currently playing, it inserts all of the songs into the middle of the current album’s tracklist instead of starting it after the current album finishes. It drives me CRAZY. It makes the feature essentially the same as the “Play Next” option and it only works correctly when no music is playing. Please, please, PLEASE fix this issue. It’s the only thing keeping Tidal from being a perfect app!
Great music stream app but one mistake is happening
by Aquakidd on 2018/10/06 20:32
Ever since the first couple of updates on the app there’s been a problem with the play queue you put on the right side . I put a bunch of music in the “play next” and “add to play queue”. I use the play queue a lot for new music or just a set of songs I want to use . But now what happens is once a song is finished being played the song completely disappears from the song list on the right . It never used to be like this in the past. The song used to stay in the playlist you made on the right side so I can go back and save the songs I added as playlist. If this doesn’t come back it’s going to be frustrating listening to music. If I add a buck a songs to the queue and I accidentally hit a whole album to play , all the songs I put in the queue completely disappears. In previous versions of the app the songs I put in the play queue would remain there. If there’s any way they fix that problem this app would be 5 stars no question.
Enjoy much more the Apple Music
by gargano96 on 2020/04/16 16:13
At first I didn’t think i would ever use this knowing I have everything apple product and I had Apple Music but I was impressed on how good Tidal works with a majority of my apple products, love the look on the bigger screen like the iPad and even works with Airplay on the TV and also the fact you can choose the quality of your music, I definitely hear the difference and I love how clear my music sounds, not just loud like Apple Music. The only reason I did not give a 5 star is simply because there is no real support for Apple Watch. I can only do the simple things like control the volume, play/pause/ next or repeat, etc. but there is no real way of using tidal on your watch unless the app is running on your phone which is a bummer since I tend to leave my phone behind while running errands at time or even while at the gym. If you guys can implement that then I would definitely rate a 5 star review!
Best Music App... period.
by bilbobagginzz on 2019/11/06 04:47
Always original content, artist videos, artist interviews from some of the most respected journalists in the industry so they’re actually GREAT interviews, the best sound quality I’ve ever heard on any music app (I can literally play the other big music apps at the same time with my headphones and hear a significant difference, LOUDER AND CLEARER), HD camera access to LIVE CONCERTS, best suggestions to hear music I might like, always updating new music so I never miss anything new, the best layout which makes it nicer and easier to use than these other outdated music apps... this app should actually charge more than it does. Everyone who uses it from my phone is shocked, and everyone I suggest to use it ditches their old service and uses Tidal. And this is no exaggeration and I’m not being paid to say this. I use this everyday and it’s amazing. Thank you TIDAL. Keep up the great work!
Great quality but lacks features
by FayeRichardson on 2017/09/21 18:04
I’m really enjoying the new interface of Tidal. It’s very sleek and modern. And I love the curated playlists. It’s very easy to be able to find new underground artists. However I do have some ideas that could make Tidal a more user friendly streaming service. There should be an option to organize a playlist alphabetically and also to be able to search for a song within a playlist. Another minor annoyance I have is having duplicate songs within a playlist. I wish it would say “This song is already added”. A minor issues I have are the shuffle is usually in the same order so I’m listening to the same songs in that order whenever I listen to that playlist. I also have that same issue with artist radio. Like I already said, these are minor issues, however very useful. Would just like to see them implemented since other streaming services have them as well.
When it works properly it’s great, but it rarely does
by jamtander on 2020/02/10 22:21
When the app works as intended it’s a great experience and being able to select higher audio qualities is very noticeable when using headphones or higher end speaker. However, the app is extremely glitchy and slow. The only reliable way to listen to music on the platform is to download everything. Granted, I am willing to wait a few seconds for a song to load, especially if it’s in higher quality, but using the search feature doesn’t always work. Furthermore, when I click on particular artists’ catalogues to expand and see in entirety, the app gets stuck in it’s loading screen. There are also many instances of songs randomly stopping and playlists taking forever to load. I thought it may be my internet, but I have tried on many different networks and it continues to have the same issues. Worth my $5 for 5 months, but not the insanely high asking price for non promo membership.
TIDAL has changed the way I listen and explore
by RickRickI on 2019/01/11 04:09
TIDAL has been a revelation to me! The sound is terrific over my high-end audio system; and especially over headphones with my Firefly Red and beloved vintage Sennheiser 560iis. But best of all is that I can listen to something, then explore practically forever following threads of the performer, composer, instruments, etc. I listen mainly to classical and jazz, almost never to insanely crappy contemporary pop. I wish the track display for music being played worked better for classical - there's a lot to display in classical: Composer, piece, movement number, movement name, artist - none of the on-line services or iTunes seem to have the display adequately covered. The HD sound is usually as good as CDs played on my Naim CD player, which admittedly is getting pretty old by now. It's best over Firefly/headphones, is a little compromised by Apple AirPlay into the HiFi, haven't tried an outboard DAC yet. But overall it's good enough that I'm about ready to box up and put in storage the probably 1200 CDs that take up a huge amount of our small living space. I'm not very convinced of MQA yet. Some tracks sound really fine; but a lot of others sound "disembodied", a bit veiled, and there are others with what sound like smearing or digital artifacts. Maybe some of it has to do with the Firefly decoding?
I miss the functionality so hard
by Jenaejanna on 2020/05/13 17:07
Please go back to how you could swipe right and see your queue, swipe left and it offers similar music, discovering music is so hard now and when clicking the play queue in corner three bars it always clears out now if you aren’t on a playlist so I can’t even remember what I’m listening to and it gets lost forever or I gotta go back and search for it then the queue starts all over again I miss being able to see past plays and going down the black hole on the left of discovery Whyyy would you remove those two features just to skip tracks ??? Music discovery has STOPPED for me based of lack of functionality and that was the whole point for me of Tidal over other services and I KNOW I’m not the only one. Please go back to allowing me to go down the black hole on the left and seeing on the right the queue of everything rather than it disappearing every time I play something that’s not on a playlist
Going Above and Beyond
by AppLoverMike on 2019/11/12 06:34
I remember when I first got this app, I had a hard time comparing it to Apple Music’s interface with respect to user friendliness. In reality, Tidal is setup the way it is to expose you to new content not just to house the stuff you already know you like. I love the mixes that they create which take the songs I have been listening to and create a playlist based off those tracks with new tracks that I might like as well. I love the Suggested Tracks because it gives me that exposure to all different forms of content that I may have never come across on my own. I enjoy the exclusive content that Tidal offers with certain artists. I once was able to go to a Van Lathan talk that I won from a Tidal contest. I’ve had the chance to go to see Meek, Hov & Bey, and more through Tidal. Great platform (not just an app) and great idea that started with artists.
Honest Opinion
by Kix Geek on 2019/09/09 22:22
I liked Apple Music for its simplicity and massive music catalog but something always seemed to be missing. I originally had no interest in buying another subscription based music app but after using the free trail for awhile I would happily recommend TIDAL to any and everyone. I love that once you choose a song the algorithm actually chooses other songs that compliment the flow and mood of the song you originally choose and not just play the same artist repeatedly. This has actually introduced me to some artists I did have an interest on listening to at first and other I had never heard of. Not to mention listening to music on Master quality makes a serious difference from you usual jam sessions. I have to give it to TIDAL for advancing the streaming game to the next level and hope it continues to grow.
App is inconsistent
by MxttPxtt on 2020/05/01 19:23
I used to love this app with every fiber in me. It was my go to music streaming service. It was fast, easy to use, and had every song I needed (wish it had podcasts but it’s not too big of a deal). Lately however, (possible the last 6 months) the app has been glitchy, and has been working on and off. There seems to be a different problem every week. It never lasts for longer than a month but it’s infuriating. Lately I can’t even stream music using my WiFi, I have to turn it off, unless the music I’m listening to is downloaded. My WiFi is not the problem, and it works exceptionally fast with every other app, but tidal jusy has a problem. Since this is the same price as Apple Music, id recommend Apple Music since it’s more intuitive to iPhones and it doesn’t have all these glitches. Sad to say I won’t be staying with tidal much longer if these problems keep occurring. I’ll great an edit and fix the score if my problem is fixed and no tiene problems occur.
Love it
by RockyThorn666 on 2019/05/09 15:33
I absolutely love this app. I had been with Google Play Music for 5 years and I decided to try Tidal (free) for a month. It changed everything. I find myself using Tidal way more. The interface is top notch, even though in the beginning they kept pushing rap and hip hop. I wound up missing it after the trial ended and I don't myself comparing Google Play to Tidal and I yearned to get a subscription. I finally convinced my family members to let me set them up with a Tidal Family subscription. I did it and have been super happy ever since. The sound quality is amazing and the UI is superb. Eventually, the push of rap and hop went away from my home screen as I built my library and the app learned what I liked. Definitely recommend, especially if you have a great car system and great headphones. ♥️♥️♥️
Shady business model
by Chinoiserie777 on 2020/02/22 17:32
They will charge your money without you knowing. I have already contacted support few times and their respond was basically it is your fault, the charge is valid. I downloaded the app in November. I tried the service and felt it wasn’t for me. The welcome email didn’t say anything about free trial or anything like that. No charge in December and January and suddenly on February- boom - my bank acct got charged. No email communication prior regarding this whatsoever. I got some “marketing emails” from Tidal during those time and nothing else. Your support team basically just insisting that charge was valid and refused to refund the money. Even though I have never used the service within those 3 months. If you are going to start charging people money and you are doing honest business, send communication!!! No communication before deciding to take money from people’s bank account, no explanation about any potential free trials expiring or anything related to a paid subscription (no proper and clear disclosure) and then refused to return after = STEALING!!!!
Doesn’t load albums in my library right
by SnappySneezer on 2020/03/18 22:27
Well it is slow to load albums in my music, in particular for my favourite band Thee Headcoats. It just won’t bring up their albums in the app! I find it slow to load most things and a bit awkward to add to the library. There are many different artists that are listed as the same one. These include Heavenly, Slow Children and some of the albums listed as Jago or Lightfoot are actually audio plays spun off from Doctor Who. I want to add these radio plays to my library but not those other artists. In the case of Slow Children and Heavenly, the other bands with their name are just totally different music styles unappealing to fans of the other bands which are Twee and New Wave acts. There are a lot of great artists missing like bis (from Glasgow, Scotland), the Creams, The Chrysanthemums, Janet Klein, the 80s material from the new wave band Slow Children, Bloody Mannequin Orchestra and a number of others essential artists. A shuffle feature would be nice to mix up artists I have liked.
HiFi Sounds good, but not that much better than Apple
by RockTheProject on 2019/03/19 00:36
I’ve been an Apple subscriber for several years, and I was ready to make the full switch if this app delivered on sound quality, even though I would be paying literally double what I’m paying for Apple. The verdict: I am an Audiophile, and while Tidal’s Master Quality material does sound good, it’s not actually that much better. Not only that, but most artists I listen to didn’t have the Master versions available, which resulted in most albums sounding identical to Apple. I tried it out on my home system and my incredible Bose system in my car, and was not blown away. Furthermore, the app is unbelievably laggy and glitchy. I kept having to restart the app, and even then it wouldn’t work properly most of the time. In the end I cancelled my HiFi subscription within the first hour. Bring the HiFi price down to meet Apple’s prices, and we’ll talk. Until then, Apple still has my business.
Needs a little improvement
by TheNoireBeauty on 2019/01/08 12:47
The music section for children is severely limited. The app isn't configured to work on the Apple Watch. The app often signs me out and my password doesn't work so I have to reset it over and over again. I may have no choice but to cancel soon if the changes are being updated. *Update* a new update for the app has been lingering. Every time I click on it it takes to the App Store and doesn't update 😠 idk if Apple is try to make it hard for Tidal but my frustrations are mounting. *UPDATE* The app won’t connect via Bluetooth to anything! Every other streaming app works but Tidal. I could be an Apple thing. In my car I can’t plug my phone up to charge & listen to music at the same time. It’s very frustrating. The bypass was Bluetooth. I’ve tried to not charge my phone to listen & that doesn’t work either. The only way I can listen or operate the app is if I listen to it without connecting to anything.
Killing my battery
by Keith80 on 2019/05/17 14:41
FINAL UPDATE: After working with Tidal’s support team, they have given up, replying “there is nothing we can do from our end.” Tidal charges premium prices, but can’t create an app that doesn’t drain my battery from what they refer to as “a constant open network connection.” I guess I’ll check out Amazon’s new high resolution audio plans. ———————- I generally like the audio quality of Tidal, but the app is killing my iPhone battery when no music is playing. I listened to tidal on the way to work yesterday, unplugged it from my car and put it in my pocket. When I noticed my battery draining unusually quickly, I checked the battery report on my phone, and it said tidal had been working in the background for 6 hours! My commute is only 10 minutes! I can verify that it was not downloading any music or playing music while in my pocket. I have background refresh turned off globally on my phone. I hope this problem can be fixed soon, so I don’t have to manually close the app every time I use it. Also, I wish you could download songs to a laptop, not just mobiles. Additionally, it’s ridiculous that you can’t search for mqa content. Furthermore, the whole user interface is kinda of cheap for a product that’s this expensive. UPDATE: I reinstalled the app, which deleted my downloaded songs. Everything worked as expected, with no battery use in the background. Once I downloaded songs, the problem returned, even when the download queue is empty.
Audiophiles rejoice!
by sgroovez on 2020/04/29 14:15
If you pay for the MQA service you will not be disappointed. Plenty of content and new stuff added constantly. Not every single album is available, but you can recommend them, and the company responds! CarPlay integration is not good. Make sure you select your album or songs before you start driving using the app on your mobile device, and you can skip CarPlay altogether. The interface is decent to view material and it is super easy to create a playlist and add to it. Once you listen to the “Master” tracks and compare with the regular versions you will hear the difference. It’s what I use to test speakers and headphones. So far I haven’t found a pair of earbuds where I can tell the difference so if you are a Bluetooth earbud listener, the higher subscription price for the MQA material may not be for you. This is my go to listening app period.
Good, almost great
by Luke100680 on 2019/05/06 11:51
I like the app. Missing a few features that I’ve found elsewhere. Making a playlist is too many steps. Have to add songs individually instead of being able to add mass amounts at once. Also if you download a featured playlist or album the songs don’t show up with the rest of your downloaded tracks to play. You either have option to play the album or the group of tracks. So you’d have to download the album then go back and add each track to your collection so it will show up to play with the rest of the individual tracks you’ve downloaded. Fix those few things and easily a 5 star app. As for the service I like the selection and quality of music. I got it as part of a deal thru my carrier but as of now it still isn’t user friendly enough for me to switch over as my main streaming service.
Has more to offer than you thought
by Doubleww.com on 2018/11/08 16:34
A lot of folks ask how something this new can compete. Here's how 1. Way more music than Apple Music. All of jays albums first of all, in my mind by Pharrell is up, a lot of underground rappers too. Even if you do not like rap recognize they pay more to each artist and likely have more of you're style regardless. 2. They offer a 90 day free trial. This lets you get a feel of the app. I think I may switch from Apple and I'm 3 weeks in. 3. If you're seriously into music then consider their lossless cd quality streaming for 20 a month. That's right they have two different streaming qualities. Don't confuse it the 9 dollar a month is just as good if not better than Apple. However the 20 a month may be good for musical mentors and other musicians. Nice addition.
Your UI/UX is Pretty Bad
by Tusk69 on 2018/12/01 01:32
I have a few pet peeves with your app in the area of User Interface / User Xperience: 1) You changed the album art feature for playlists, and now only 4 album covers show up for each playlist. There used to be 6. The 4 covers haven’t gotten any bigger either, you just used up less screen space and made a “four-square”. That, in and of itself, wouldn’t be so bad, except for the fact that it’s messing up all of my old playlists that used to show 6 album covers. The square cuts the covers off and often shows nothing but a blank gray square. It’s ugly, buggy, and it makes it more difficult for the user to know what/who is on each playlist (by sight). 2) Why in God’s name do I have to scroll through my entire list of Artists and Albums in my Collection to find the one I want ??? This drives me NUTS !!! And it has been a problem since I’ve been a subscriber (a year or so). Why aren’t there any shortcuts in the form of letters, so I can at least get near what I’m looking for. Unfortunately, my workaround (which is Searching for what I want EVERY TIME) is quicker than starting at “A” and scrolling through my massive collection of music when I want a particular Artist, Album, or Song. 3) The Loudness Normalization feature leaves a lot to be desired. The first 2 items are no-brainers, and they should be fixed considering I have a $25/month high-end Hi-Fi subscription. SMH...
EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
by localoreo on 2018/10/19 20:11
I signed up for the free trial to give it a go and loved the service itself yet I wasn’t planning on giving it a go just yet so I cancelled through my settings on my phone by going into subscriptions. I wasn’t aware of the fact that Tidal had stored my payment information and would charge me this month for a service I didn’t knowingly ask for. When I made their support team aware of this they basically said “It’s your own fault” and refused to refund me. I’m extremely disappointed with this, especially because it’s tied to Beyoncé who I love and respect. I truly wish their support becomes better for issues like this because its problematic to charge people without them knowing. Apparently from what I’ve read in other reviews other people have also claimed this problem. I am having to contact my BANK over several charges over the last few months I was finally made aware of. Tidal has taken about $40 of my money without me knowing. This is absolutely unacceptable all around.
Mediocre at best
by DaddyDell117 on 2019/09/12 00:23
To start with, the recommendations are garbage. I just want to listen to the music I want, not what you think I’ll want. I have yet to find a way for it to not play “clean” versions of songs. You know how annoying it is to be on a run and to have a good Eminem song come on, and to have the whole vibe of the song to be ruined with pauses and bleeps? It’s horrible. I don’t want a clean song. It’s hard enough to differentiate the two on the player, you have to scroll down a menu to see the song in the explorer to find out with the little “E” for explicit. When I like a song, I favorite it and then put it in a playlist (so that I know I already added it). After liking a song, a pop up shows up blocking the button to add it to a playlist. So it in total takes about 5-7 seconds to add a song to a playlist. That is if it responds while in the playlist selection screen. Often times it just shows you all the playlists and you can’t select one. I’ve had to close the app and reopen it a few times in just this last session because of on screen glitches making the “add to playlist” spot unselectable at all. The music quality itself is fine. With some songs you can select “high” which does sound a lot better. I have a hard time finding all the songs I want, however. Bottom line, if it didn’t come with my phone plan, I wouldn’t have tidal at all.
Keeps getting better, high cost in gear.
by JustNickVa on 2019/07/13 21:24
Update: Warning, please note in order to actually get MQA quality that you pay for, you will have to make a large investment in equipment equalling hundreds on the budget side to an excess of thousands on the high end side. You will also have to research excessively or depend on the expertise of high end audio dealers to purchase equipment capable of playing The full potential of MQA files. The service seems to get better every few weeks. Kudos to the team at Tidal that’s continuing to make this service better for all. I have made huge investments on my gear at home and I’m happy to squeeze every available feature out of Tidal to enjoy music. I rarely use my turntable or CD player any more. I was hesitant to pay the full fee at first because i expected a steady stream of advertisements, and I was pleased to find a feature rich service without advertisements. First add i see tho i will cut my service and go right back to radio, vinyl and cd.

Shouldn’t have to pay to listen to music
by Just.an.average.teen. on 2020/07/09 17:40

by jonny good name on 2020/07/09 16:57
I’m using an iPhone 11 Pro and the tidal app crashes on every single listen. I love the puns quality and the numerous mixes, but if this keeps up for long, I’ll have to go back to Spotify. Being able to play music is better than high quality music that cuts out all the time because the app has crashed.

by Franekbrady on 2020/07/08 00:40
I was charged twice for renewal For over $300 a year I thought it would have better playback I understand high quality could take more time to load 8 minutes to play a 2 minute song is a little disappointing sounds extremely well when it plays pop up in app claims Waze can be used at same time it works drains 30% of your battery in about an hour sounds amazing buffers about every 5 seconds iPhone 11 Pro is device being used it’s not the most expensive wireless carrier but it’s not the cheapest unlimited data full bars of service maybe it will get better I am a sucker for sound quality which has been the best is why I have cancelled and back again thinking problem with songs loading would be fixed nothing has changed in several months my $25.99 I pay can be used anytime how about making app the same if streaming at such a high quality is not possible for wireless devices please stop advertising it can be done My automatic renew will renew every month no problems And don’t send some lame a** Sorry about your troubles bla bla bla it don’t make your app work any better

Apple CarPlay

Another update but Tidal still has major issues with Apple CarPlay. Its been a few months. 🤨
Enjoying it so far
by Cat for the Tillerman on 2020/06/29 20:32
I switched from another streaming service and like Tidal so far.

Etc. I haven’t completely let go of my other subscription because of these issues.

by SASSLSWBS on 2019/01/09 16:48
I absolutely love this streaming service!
Music keeps randomly stopping
by jft.atl on 2018/10/25 00:00
Been using Tidal for a while with no complaints, mostly would like to see some improvements to app like lyrics, but I’m patient and understand it might take a second to implement..Anyways for whatever reason since I updated a version or two ago, my music will not always play and sometimes it’ll cut off.
Updates
by Codith Brown on 2019/01/09 17:10
Love the app.
