Uhh what happened?!
by poopyhead5 on 2020/09/22 21:04
I got this app a few weeks ago because a teacher at school was offering extra credit if we stayed off our phones! It worked for a week, then every time I open it, it just freezes and I don’t get any points anymore! How am I supposed to get my extra credit now?!!
Blank screen
by Frustrated Raider Fan on 2020/09/22 04:19
I would give it a 5, if the screen didn’t go blank with a white screen for periods of time. Just recently they updated the app and all I get is a blank screen.
Super buggy
by pigeon addict on 2020/09/12 16:00
I would have given this a 5 star, but for the past year every time I get into the app it shuts the app off and kicks me to the home screen and won’t let me eat points. I had it on my old phone and kept it because I thought that once I got a new phone it would work but I just recently got a new phone and it does the same thing. I deleted the app, but maybe if this bug is fixed I will reinstall it.
no longer works
by Scruffynerfhrdr on 2020/09/11 01:41
app was great when it worked. lately, it won’t load and is just a black screen. it also force closes itself.

Can’t open it, and no points
by Life at the Lake on 2020/08/29 18:36
Won’t let me open the app, I’ve had it for a little over a year and it was working great, occasionally it won’t give you points and now it closes out immediately once I open it. Love the app but wish this issue would be fixed!
Can't open app
by Ilovecats8787 on 2020/08/15 20:25
I haven't used pocket points in some months but with school starting back I wanted to use it again but everytime I open the app, it closes instantly. I hope this gets fixed.
Online Classes
by Kei1a2345 on 2020/08/08 18:18
I really like this app. However, I won’t be able to make as many points because classes are online now, and I’m not actually on campus therefore the app doesn’t recognize that I am in class. Is there a way compatible with this new style of learning ?
Frustrating
by Sophies player on 2020/08/02 17:59
I have had this app for a while now, I do not like it as I will be a passenger in a car and if I’m on my phone it says I was distracted driving this is really stupid it shows I have all kinds of distractions while driving and the problem is I don’t drive. LAME. And I just rode with someone across three states and I don’t like it how it gets to ten points and you have to watch a stupid ad to get your points each time and you can’t gain more till you do. I’m totally not feeling this app
I used to love it. When it worked
by ThePhatom03 on 2020/07/31 23:06
I loved this app it was awesome I used it everyday in my class. But now I cant even open the app for two seconds before it closes itself.
No more Chick-fil-A
by resutsenoh on 2020/07/27 16:42
The only rewards I love was chicken nuggets from chick-fil-a but that had been removed.....
Keeps Crashing
by No Nickname Working on 2020/07/17 16:46
I used to love this app. Then it stopped working for me. The app keeps shutting down on my phone. I tried it on another phone and the same thing happened. I tried deleting other apps but nothing works.
Only one good coupon in the whole app
by JennaBRUHbenna on 2020/07/02 23:24
Some of the coupons are coupons I can easily google and get with no effort. I wouldn’t mind if everything was more points for better coupons instead.
It won’t open
by VAshleyJane on 2020/06/29 19:45
I used to love this app but all of a sudden it won’t stay open. After 3 seconds the app force quits itself and I have no idea what’s wrong
Completely useless app
by Blakeblood9 on 2020/06/26 16:01
Drains your battery for points? You use points for 10% off online stores. But you can google the coupon and not even use the app what a joke! They probably get paid to list their store too 😒
No way to log in
by Kaletbh on 2020/06/19 13:57
I've used this app before, and just reinstalled it. I was prompted to submit my phone number to receive a verification code and then submit my name and email, which I did - and the app acknowledges that I already have an account associated with that email address, but gives me no option to log into it. I already reached out to customer support, but I'm waiting to hear back - this is definitely a developer issue and not a user issue. Hopefully this can be fixed with an app update. EDIT: So I just read through a bunch of reviews, and this is an issue that has been ongoing for 2 years now. 2 YEARS... at the very least. I didn't check farther than that. This should have been fixed a long time ago in that case. I'm surprised and disappointed that it wasn't.
The trouble with tapping
by ugh6862 on 2020/06/15 01:09
This app made me keep tapping my phone to wake it up so it wouldn’t lose my points... I feel like that defeated the purpose of the app.
Worked well for HS, crashes everytime now
by vanoguyen on 2020/06/01 21:41
Simply a great app that rewards you for doing something good for you but I can not use it anymore for my iPhone 5SE as it crashes every time I log into it. It will open, work for two seconds and then crash.
Huh?
by turtledasia on 2020/04/27 12:08
Failing to see how some people can have 2,256 minutes (37.6 hours) in a league that just began at 12 AM

Not worth it
by lftsk18 on 2020/04/17 07:20
They used to have some awesome coupons to local restaurants and coffee shops, now everything is online to stores where I don’t even shop.. bring back the old rewards!
Unusable
by Cuzwatsup :0 on 2020/04/11 17:11
Saved up a bunch of points, they are now irredeemable because the app keeps crashing. There’s no other way to use them like, for example, logging into a website, so this app was a waste of time.
Why just why
by JDim325 on 2020/04/10 16:11
I can’t open the app without it glitching out and closing pocket points please fix this!!!
Disappointed
by work4more on 2020/03/26 18:28
This app used to be amazing! Real incentives to stay off my phone discounts on local coffee shops or restaurants, a few good online stores but now it’s all places I have no interest in. What a disappointment!
Not collecting counted minutes
by Eh.678 on 2020/03/20 06:26
I am off of my phone for long periods of times and I turn the pocket points on and I get the notification that I’m earning pocket points but when I get on to see the minutes, it hasn’t gone up at all.
Very bad
by Linibubini on 2020/03/19 02:50
Absolutely no reason why this app needs 23gb of storage. Rewards are also terrible and not worth the effort.
This is a Good App
by Niahbabylove23 on 2020/03/15 23:16
It gives you free stuff just for staying off your phone!!
Terrible Rewards-Great Concept
by jenjen882270 on 2020/03/11 13:31
Great concept to incentivize you to stay off your phone. The rewards are horrible- not worth the space the app takes on my phone.

by Covid29 on 2020/03/09 16:12
It's kinda nice being able to save points for stuff, but be warned. If you use the points, they take away that particular reward. So don't get attached to your favorite discounts.
Poor App and Support
by <3Alexandra<3 on 2020/03/08 18:35
I’ve had an account with Pocket Points for a while, but I finally decided to download the app to give it a try. I can’t even log into the app. It just gives me an error message saying that the email is already registered. There needs to be an option to login instead of forcing me to make a new account. I’ve emailed their support team two times now with no response. I can find discounts elsewhere.
Eh?
by My name is lost on 2020/03/07 07:33
I used to use this all the time, but I just stopped for a bit. I come back and now it crashes whenever I try to open and use it. I’m using an iPhone 6 so I understand it may be a tad bit slower but cmon, if I can run any mobile game seamlessly, I should be able to not crash while using this app. I can’t give an actual review because I can’t use the app and its newest updates cuz it crashes.

Impractical and stupid
by madrynnnn on 2020/03/01 15:59
As a college student I can attest that this is the dumbest app in the world. I used in it high school when they actually had good rewards and now it’s all 20% of items that are over $100. I don’t need a hammock, I don’t need an overpriced dress, I need freaking food, discounts to staples, and an app that isn’t a waste of my time.
Better than coupons
by jakewlm on 2020/02/25 16:26
What I love about this app is I’m constantly getting deals that take no work on my end. I get a Dutch Bros rebel for less than half its normal price and I don’t have to do any coupon hunting or anything! This app is so great and I suggest it to everyone!
App won’t stay open
by Marvel&D.C. fan on 2020/02/25 16:25
I downloaded the app about a year ago and it worked until when I opened the app and then it closed 5 seconds later and after multiple attempts it still won’t stay open. I have tried everything, I deleted the app and reinstalled it , restarted my phone, etc it won’t open and I have a lot of points that I would like to use but I can’t. Please help.
Love it, but...
by Iliketrains12345678987654321 on 2020/02/25 02:06
I love this app and it’s a great way to keep people off of their phones. I just simply wish that this could be for more than just students and teachers. I think this would be a great app for everyone rather than just two groups of people.
Straight up doesn’t work
by Rurikurikuouo on 2020/02/18 18:12
I’m on the latest update and the app always crashes when I open it. I guess I shouldn’t expect much from this team that’s notoriously awful, but at least have your app working..

Great, but needs improvement
by SpaghettiPenguin on 2020/02/17 21:27
It’s a great concept, but I wish there were coupons worth more points to redeem. I’ve accumulated over 1000 in the past month and I’m not sure what to do with them. Also the leagues are fun to compete in, but it’s kind of unfair that college students (like myself) are competing against high school students who are in class 40 hours a week. I use it every day so it’s a good app, but maybe add coupons that are worth more and put college students in league groups only with college students.
Meh
by PeenInHer on 2020/02/13 04:03
Happens a lot where I claim a coupon for a website and when I enter the code it doesn’t work.
Doesn’t even work anymore
by chillin13 on 2020/02/11 02:58
App wont let me sign in. When I get the text with the code and type it in I get a message saying network error. I used to really like this app but I can’t even use it anymore. Update: roughly a year later and the app wont even open now. After speaking with customer service for several months nothing has been resolved.

by C8j5m on 2020/01/30 18:47
I use to love this app but now I just feel like I’m getting cheated out of points and not earning what I deserve. The only way I earn points if through the goal setting and if I need to access my phone sooner for an emergency, I just wasted an hour of staying off it and no points rewarded. There’s not a lot of options for food places which I’m more interested in being a college student and all. The clothing brands on there being offered, way to expensive even after the discount. If you guys could offer more food places and deals for Walmart, target, hobby lobby, Ross, Kohl’s, tjmaxx, and other things like these. Imagine the great deal of more downloads you guys would get. I know I would definitely refer the app to more people and use it a lot more. I love the app because of the discounts on food, but it hasn’t been worth it lately. Thanks..
Could use more rewards, but still worth using.
by PierusJr on 2020/01/27 13:48
Personally, I only use the papa johns option, and want more, but still worth using.

Unsatisfied customer
by vyseryon on 2020/01/23 09:10
Every time I open the app it glitched and closes immediately. I spent 2 months in constant contact with the customer support, and NOTHING was resolved. I persevered for all that long because I believed the app would be beneficial to me. Ended up just bringing me stress.
Was great at first
by cd1036382 on 2020/01/22 18:15
For almost a year now the app just won’t open. Each time i try to open it’s a blank screen and then it crashes. Really annoying as I’ve tried to contact multiple times. Just not worth the download.
New update broke it
by Bazoka810 on 2020/01/21 09:10
I used to use this app every day, 6 stars and told all of my friends about it. New update and I can't even open the bloody thing. Why?
Great deals all around my campus
by kkdabae on 2020/01/20 19:42
My original review was 2 stars - while I loved the app, it started crashing every time I opened it. I finally fixed that problem by deleting the app and re-downloading it - not sure why that worked but I am so glad it did! I can rack up so many points while studying that turn into real benefits. Thankful that several businesses near me offer BOGO deals! This is a great incentive for students.
Always glitches/crashes
by Kayles113 on 2020/01/18 17:17
I haven’t been able to open this app in like 2 years. It crashes the second I open it. I always have the most up-to-date version of the app (and iPhone XR), so not really sure why this keeps happening. Horrible app, I have so many points that I can’t even use now
Great app with a great idea but major problem
by Derek123345 on 2020/01/13 15:04
There is a great idea with the app for awarding you for staying off your phone while driving or in school but there is one major problem I have found. It drains and literally kills your battery. Starting out I had 99% battery health and now for using it with no change in my normal routine of using the device, I am not at 89% battery health. If will kill your battery by 1% per week of us. It operates nearly 24/7 in the background. It’s not really worth it especially with high schoolers when the rewards are coupons. Why can’t there be gift cards like Amazon, Starbucks, ITunes, target, Walmart, Bestbuy, etc. It’s not worth it if you want to replace your batter in a few months just for the app to kill it again. I deleted it for now and will keep an eye out for updates and battery drain issues are resolved.
Terrible user interface and selection of rewards
by That’s jammin. on 2020/01/12 06:57
With Redbox and Chick Fil A gone this app is basically just a bunch of discounts to trendy overpriced stores or free trials that are available for free elsewhere. Not to mention the interface has been awful for over a year now. It’s clear these guys just want to make money off us now with ads everywhere and terrible choices for rewards. I used to love this app but it’s insufferable now.

Good concept, rewards don’t work
by Lilo803 on 2020/01/10 23:02
This app is cool and it’s good for classes as well. I tried to use some points to get $12 off for the GrubHub app and Pocket points gave me a promo code. I used the code on GrubHub about 5 minutes later but the promo code was expired. It was a waste of points and probably an accident, so I’d like to have the rewards fixed.

A great concept, but...
by t35history on 2019/12/29 17:23
This is a great idea. 🙂 we spend too much time on our phones as it is, and what better way to encourage people to break that habit than incentivizing downtime. I use the frequently, and really take advantage of the distractionless driving feature. Yet, despite all the points I've accrued, I find that when I go to redeem them, there are relatively few options for me to choose from. There are a lot of online clothing stores that offer 10-15% discounts... and lots of ads for a trial of amazon prime (which I don't need PP for)... and MVMT watches (which, cool, but out of my college budget). I would be much more inclined to use and recommend PP to others were there more practical ways to spend the points. Maybe X% off at Target/Walmart/Meijer/Best Buy, or BOGO books at Barnes and Noble. Maybe opportunities to convert points into Steam or Riot Games or Nintendo credits. Maybe X% off at the gas station, or the ability to redeem for gift cards (maybe Amazon?). More food options would be great as well--I appreciate the local businesses that have offers on PP. Some food for thought that may help the app become even more useful. 🙂

I’ve had Pocket Points since its inception and I’ve accrued a lot of points. Lately, however, the app has been unusable. It force quits every time I’ve opened it and I haven’t been able to access the app at all. I am unsure if this is a me problem, but I’d really like to be able to redeem the points I’ve earned.

by derfgh123 on 2019/11/25 01:24
Pocket points used to be awesome. However, now nothing loads and all my points are worthless. Fix your app it is completely broken. The offers never load and all I ever see is gray every time I try to use my points. Would give it 0 stars if I could.
Versions give varying points.
by BoBeldon on 2019/11/23 02:46
I used to love this app to no end. I use it multiple times per week, and I used to always have the pocket points I needed when I needed them. Lately with this latest update, or perhaps a glitch in my version, the free points prizes are few and far between, I no longer get them for claiming my 10 unclaimed points, also sometimes I’ll get home and check my points after driving and there’s none. I don’t know what’s going on, but this week I had to pay for Chips and. Drink at subway, with money instead of points and I just don’t know why. I talked with some friends of mine at a dinner last night, and they’re still getting tons of points. I’m not sure if their version is different. I’m a full time student and work part time at the school and should be getting lots of points, but it’s gotten to where they’re super rare. Please bring the points back!
Not Enough Options
by AngelysAnish on 2019/11/18 23:55
As a university student, I thought the whole concept of the app was amazing and I was really excited to try out the app. However, most of the stores and restaurants the app gives rewards for aren't in my area or just aren't places I often go to so basically I'm currently just saving points for no reason because I have nothing to spend them on. I wish the app had a lot more places to spend your points for like common restaurants at campuses, for example. Us university students live on food. We study with snacks right next to us, we try to eat in campus to not waste gas or lose our good parking spot, and we're always hungry. Stress makes us hungry. I have nothing to spend the points on because the restaurants at my campus aren't included in the app like Panda Express, McDonalds, Burger King, Sushi Maki, etc.
Great app - but needs better deals

Rewards make app not worth it for me
by Saying it as it is on 2019/11/11 07:13
I love the overall concept of the app and was super thrilled about it first, but when I looked at the rewards section I no longer wanted it. The rewards are mostly just discounts for stores I have never even heard of and there’s no way to earn actual money back, so I feel like I’m not really getting rewarded for being off my phone. What I thought was going to be a perfect app for me turned into one that I’m now deleting because I see no reason for it. If the rewards got better and I could actually earn points to use towards gift cards or some way to get money back (like in other apps similar to this), I’d get it in a heartbeat. Even if the rewards were discounts for popular restaurants or stores that I could actually shop at I’d be happier.

Great app, needs better rewards
by ChrisCollis22 on 2019/11/06 15:09
The overall point of the app is great, giving people motivation to stay off their phones in order to achieve a goal of gaining points, but there should be actual rewards, like gift cards or in game credits, or even getting massive amounts of points to buy actual material things instead of discounts.
Battery uses
by graysonxiyi on 2019/11/05 17:52
The app is spectacular, However, it uses up 70% of the cell phone battery. It would be of benefit to the consumer if the company would improve with the app.
Redownloaded and I am unable to log in
by vlipscomb07 on 2019/11/04 22:35
I used to use the app. Haven’t for awhile, but thought I’d redownload. Nope! There is no log in option. Only the process to create a new account is available, and of course, my email is already in use. Even when I get the “email in use” message, there still is no option to log in.
Waste of time
by Pretty awesome chicky on 2019/11/04 04:34
At first I loved this app. And now it’s just a way to cheat you out of points. The algorithm clearly was not set properly. After being off my phone during independent study off campus, I chose the max goal because I had been studying all day. After completing the goal, I opened my phone for it to tell me I had not completed it because I was off my phone and then jipped me of my points. All of that time wasted. Not to mention the driving isn’t even accurate. Even though I was home, parked in the driveway and getting out of my vehicle, it considered me to have distracted driving and deducted points. Great concept but poor implementation
Don’t Download.
by Bralli5 on 2019/11/03 19:06
They offer you rewards you can find anywhere on the web. No food rewards at all. These developers also will earn extra money off you because they offer you free trials to other companies which you can do on your own time. Don’t waste your time on this app it actually motivates you to spend more money rather than saving.
Doesn’t load

For the past 4 updates, the entire app will not load. It won’t even pull up the loading screen. It just blank screens for 30 seconds then closes the app. None of the things you can buy with the points are anything special anyway. They are either not available in your area or are just coupons you can find online with a google search for companies that are far too expensive for the average college student to use anyway. While it’s a good concept that used to work fine, the new updates have made the app impossible to use and the lack of usable rewards have made it pointless.
It ok
by Sirenitah on 2019/10/31 13:48
I have pocket points and I really like doing it. But for some reason it is losing my rewards that I get for not having my phone on in class. I don’t use them and they suddenly disappear.
update
by caroline?? on 2019/10/31 11:11
i updated my app recently and it somehow made it worse. the ‘on campus’ barely works and cant find my location. and when it does, it won’t let me earn points if i didn’t lock my phone from the app. it’s kooky sometimes but i cant complain about free points🙌🏽
Loved this app at first but now I’m not getting points!?
by Shim mer on 2019/10/29 00:29
Recently school has been so stressful that I have almost cut my phone time in half. I’ll set 2 hour timers multiple times during the day and sometimes even go over that with extra time. But for maybe 2 weeks now I’ve collected 0 points. Including when I am on campus. It’s very frustrating. Please get this fixed or I will consider deleting the app and I really don’t want too!!
Can’t login
by jbodenr on 2019/10/27 01:00
To clarify, this is a great idea, and I have enjoyed using it in the past. But their updated interface doesn’t allow people who didn’t have mobile number previously associated with their account to login to their existing account. It is quite annoying since I had hundreds of points on my account and now I can’t access them...
Can’t even log in
by slla smith on 2019/10/26 21:16
I put in my phone number but it won’t send the code and I click resend but I still don’t get it.... so I can’t even use it so that’s why I did one star. I would have given it zero stars but it won’t let me....
Taking up large amounts of storage on my phone
by gedd3s on 2019/10/26 14:28
I am surprised to see that this app has so much downloaded content. With how the app is set up and how we must be connected to the internet to even purchase rewards and stuff I feel like it should take up minimal space and be mostly on the cloud. What is the reason for it taking up so much space?

This app is terrible. It will not let me redeem my pocket points for any items. I tried to use my code to redeem for Redbox and it failed every time I try. I do not recommend this app at all. It is a time waster.

Wheres my reward?
by Tie Die Ed on 2019/10/23 23:48
So today was the first time i actually decide to use my points for a clothing coupon. I used my points for a 10% off for ASOS apparel. I got to my messages to read off the code, and it spells out “No Code Needed”, included withh a link. I tried the website link, and the code was not activated. i typed in “No Code Needed” and still, im left empty handed. I would give it a 4 Star, but what for?!
Im HUNGRY
by lee chadwick on 2019/10/23 09:37
I never leave reviews. But it is so bad that it has to be done. The app has had terrible/ useless point-redeemed rewards for some time now. I checked in again for the first time in a while today seeing that they have implemented advertisements every time you redeem points. I was glad at first, thinking the company might use its extra revenue towards mediocre rewards, I was wrong, same rewards you can get just for visiting the company website, if not its going to be like a 5-10% discount to a store no college student would be shopping at, we need food not luxuries.
It’s a good app
by madisonisthename on 2019/10/23 01:56
I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because some of the deals you can get aren’t good. By this I mean, a business may already offer this deal on their website and it’s like pocket points wants you to use your points on a deal you can get for free. But some of the deals are worth it so you just have to make sure your picking the right deals.
Crashing Non Stop
by Tay1774 on 2019/10/23 01:02
Had this app for almost three years now and I haven’t been able to use it since mid June 2019-now October 22nd 2019. Every time I open it all it is, is a blank white page and it will stay up for like 15 seconds just a plain white screen then go back to my phones home screen and close the app.
What the heck?
by FlutePsych on 2019/10/22 05:18
I really love this app when it works. However, for a long time, it has been finicky at best as far as rewarding points while driving (my favorite feature!) and since the new update, I can't even open the app without it crashing. Please fix!
LOOVE the new update! Just one suggestion...
by AJFielding on 2018/06/01 05:43
I REALLY like this new update, I stopped using Pocket Points because it was never locating me on campus, and it was simply too frustrating to try and make it. Now I use it to reach my goals of staying off the phone. However, I notice that sometimes I lose my points even when I haven’t unlocked my phone, but I receive a text. I feel kinda cheated losing all that time. Maybe we could receive a very small portion of points based on how long we have our phone locked, then if we reach a goal, we can receive significant bonus points? Just a thought. Otherwise, LOVE this app!!
Meh
by Nami_Dia on 2018/07/26 14:38
When this app first came out I loved the idea, it’s great for students, it’s incentive to stay off your phone during class and you can use the rewards to save money because as a college student you are really on a budget. I really liked the system, the only thing I felt was lacking was the rewards but I figured that would get better with time. I stopped using it when I couldn’t spend my points on anything. I picked it back up after the update and I absolutely hate the goal change, it’s just a way to cheat you out of points. It also doesn’t really make sense because now you have to check your phone and tell it to keep going occasionally which defeats the purpose of getting you off your phone. The rewards increased in the number of places but they still haven’t gotten better. It’s just not worth spending a crap ton of points on 5% off someplace I wasn’t planning on going in the first place. This was originally targeted for students but now they are trying to broaden the spectrum of users, which is fine, but if you are catering to students and people of low income maybe have rewards that actually make sense to your demographic and are monetarily worth it. 5% a clothing store I can’t afford anyway isn’t really great.
Not Getting Points
by 98Ruth on 2018/10/13 13:43
I was loving this app and would have given it a 4-5 star rating if you would have asked me about it a few days ago. However, all of the sudden the app is no longer rewarding me points for the longer periods of time that I am off my phone. For example, yesterday I was off my phone for about 5 hours in total: 1 early in the day during a class, 2 at work, and another 2 in the evening. During all of those times when I locked me phone I had the notification that I was earning points. When I unlocked my phone, it was to my surprise that I actually had earned no points, though I had been off of my phone. I even tried setting a goal later in the evening and I got the notification on my screen that I finished my goal, but when I unlocked my phone there were no points. Very frustrated at this app. Great in concept, and it was great for a while, but very lacking in delivery. I’m tempted to give it a 2 star rating, but because I had a good experience at first I’m giving it a 3 star rating.
Updated is trash
by pocket_points_did_us_dirty on 2018/04/20 15:11
I would’ve given this five stars before but now it gets one star. The new update cheats you out of potential points with the fifty minute goal. I have two classes nearly three hours long and I don’t get rewarded for it like I would’ve before for having my phone locked for three hours consecutively because the fifty minute goal is so limiting in terms of points and you have to remember to reset it. I feel like the update was to appeal to businesses and in the end, capitalism, but the whole point is to help the student be less distracted so screw the update. I’m still going to use it because discounts are cool, but the new system doesn’t actually reward your actual effort anymore. If you haven’t gotten this app yet, I would reconsider and not do it, especially if you have longer classes or if you wouldn’t remember to reset it. Maybe try to find other ways for deals, and a lot of places gives you discounts right off the bat if they’re near your campus or if you have a student ID. It actually defeats the purpose because you’ll be distracted by the phone waiting for fifty minutes to pass rather than just locking it and forgetting it.
Classic PP was Better
by CaramelCarroll on 2018/09/28 18:02
The original way to gain Pocket Points was more unique than other apps on the market. You’d have to be on campus and in the app, and based on how long you were in the app you got more points. That was great because no other app on the market was approaching it in that way. If you were to get out of class early, you’d only get a few points, but you’d still get something. Now, you have to set a specific time for how long you want to be off your phone. What if you have a 3 hour long night class and you get out an hour early? You can either lose the points you’ve been earning for the past two hours completely, or wait another hour not using your phone at all. It’s just like every other “stay off your phone” productivity app nowadays, and is nothing special. Also, the app won’t recognize when it’s being used. An example, I left my phone in the app for hours in the campus library working on a paper, only to find out it awarded me no points despite giving me the “congrats on earning points” notification. RIP Pocket Points, you are not what you once were.
It used to work great
by Disappointed NG Leader on 2018/10/02 23:16
I don’t think I have earned points since any of the new updates (since the app started creating goals and adding ads at the beginning). I set a goal and when I pick up my phone after the allotted time it tells me I failed. Alternatively, when I’m on campus, open and lock the app, I have yet to see any points even after keeping it locked through an entire class period. I keep the app only because I got a lot of points at the beginning so it’s worth my while to use the points but when they are gone they app serves no purpose. It’s a great app for local businesses; I’ve returned to a number of restaurants I discovered only through pocket points. I tried the JcPenny deal and nothing in my cart was eligible for the discount and it doesn’t tell you what is eligible. The Target points were practically useless as well
Not Enough Options
by AngelysAnish on 2019/11/18 23:55
As a university student, I thought the whole concept of the app was amazing and I was really excited to try out the app.
Better a few years ago
by karik0 on 2018/10/22 21:36
I first downloaded pocket points when I was going to college and it was a great way to keep you engaged in class and stay off your phone. The rewards were pretty good and you could get discounts you couldn’t find else where. I stopped using it after I graduated but then I saw they’ve made it for everyone, not just students. While the concept behind everything is positive (reducing phone time), in my opinion, the rewards are wack! They’re not even unique to pocket points. You spend your points on discounts that you can find by easily googling for coupons. Or they’ll even make you spend points on deals that exist alone without using pocket points. For example, they had a Stila Cosmetics bogo for eye liner but when you go to the Stila website, they have the same deal and I don’t have to trade pocket points for it. Idk maybe the food discounts are better, but the retail store discounts aren’t that great.
Has potential
by tbtbtb2018 on 2018/07/07 20:33
This app could be great if it worked well at ALL TIMES and not certain circumstances. It only works well if you continuously use the 30 min goal. If you try to go higher, for example - 60 min, it will cut off on you and you don’t earn points. It sends a reminder to come back to the app only for the 30 min or less. It also doesn’t give you time to come back to the app if you go over 30 min. I don’t know if it’s their way of cheating people out of points or not, but I have lost like 20-30 points because the app wouldn’t stay active for the 60 min goal. I haven’t tried the class option yet. We’ll see how that works! This is really helpful for focusing, but they HAVE to fix this! It’s annoying to keep putting in 30 min goals when you want to focus for an hour or more. Excited for the new features coming!
Ok, just not developed enough
by lettow-vorbeck on 2019/02/24 13:30
This app is great! The concept is very helpful for students. I learned about this through a teacher who wanted us all to do it. I thought it was a great idea, because I have no problem with staying off my phone in class, and now I get rewarded for it. The problem is, once you earn a bunch of points, like I have, there is not enough places to spend it. I go to/use only one of all of these place (Moe’s), and I would definitely like to see that change. This game definitely targets stereotypical teenagers, because I haven’t even heard of half the stuff on there. In the end, they need to expand there quantity of stores by a bunch. If someone from development actually reads this, please try to add more free stuff and less discounts to things. Don’t add any more clothing stores. PLEASE!
Needs improvement
by Erin12260206 on 2018/10/11 16:47
I’ve been a frequent user of pocket points for the past few years and made a lot of use out of it. However, the new points earning system makes it extremely difficult to earn points now. Not only it’s gathering less points than before, when you set up the goal time, the app often refreshes and exits by itself, and when it happens the app indicates it as me exiting the app and therefore I end up losing the time I spent away from the phone. And there are no indications that this happened, so it takes me a while to realize I’ve lost all that time and points 🙄. This happened so many times now that theres no point and I’ve almost given up. If there’s any ways to fix this problem, please do, because otherwise it’s a great app.
I love this app but, there is a glitch.
by K Co. on 2018/09/28 16:14
I absolutely LOVE pocket points! I recommend it to all my peers. Multiple professors requested that we use it in their class at the start of the semester. I thought, “If the professors are requesting it then it has to be good.” It is. You earn points towards coupons for purchases such as restaurants or website purchases. I used this app almost every day up until these past few days where it automatically shuts off as soon as I open the app. Hopefully the developers will fix this glitch soon so I can used my earned points. Thank you for the great app.
Mmm
by C8j5m on 2020/01/30 18:47
I use to love this app but now I just feel like I’m getting cheated out of points and not earning what I deserve. Thanks..
New Point System is Terrible
by The_Pardack on 2018/09/14 16:33
The new timer point system is the worst, it’s almost impossible to get any sort of reward now and isn’t even worth using anymore. Edit: yeah.... it’s still the worst. They haven’t fixed anything. Edit 2.0: re-download the app for the new semester hoping it would be better. They said they added a non timer version which they did, but it’s awful. If you’re by yourself trying to earn the max you can get per hour is 4.8 points which is absolutely useless. Most things on this app cost an absurd amount of points and would require me to be off my phone for a solid two weeks while on campus to get 2 dollars off an ice cream cone..... and when my phone is used for homework it kind of defeats the purpose of even trying. 1 Star is far to high of a rating for this app. Don’t waste your time using it.
Not working
by Rileyrobs on 2018/12/15 12:21
When I first downloaded, it worked like a charm. I’d get the little notification telling me I was earning points and I’d be good to go. Now whenever I’m on campus or just trying to set a timer, I’ll open pocket points to the correct screen and press start or whatever. The green bar at the top appears telling me to lock my phone. Yet when I do, I get a notification to go back to the app so I don’t lose my points. When I open the back back up, it’ll always say I was locked for ___ seconds and earned like .02 points. What is the point of staying off your phone if I have to leave it on and tap it every minute or so to make sure it doesn’t stop giving me points? Right now my primary earner is the distracted driving. But I’d really like to know how to fix this?
Amazing
by ThIs won gai on 2018/08/28 22:33
This app is great. Perfect for students or really anyone who feels they spend too much time on their phones. I would like to see it become easier to add people though. Using it in a class of over 100 and wish I could add them without having to get their phone number first. Would love to see connection established through accounts instead. Like if I could just click on their profile and send a friend invite or something. Other than that it’s absolutely fantastic.
Disappointed
by 2.0dissappointed on 2018/09/13 19:07
I am very disappointed on this new update. I liked when we could just open the app and close it and get considered points without a set time to receive points. I think it’s super inconvenient because when I do set it; I would set it for the class but then class would get it early and so I would have to give up all the points. In addition, every time I do set, the application wouldn’t realize and I would check after hours of not using my phone and I wouldn’t be able to receive any points. That is super frustrating! However, what I do like is the driving setting as well as we can earn points being off campus too. I think if we could bring back those aspects it would make the app a lot better than it is now.
Decent
by Norgret on 2019/04/04 02:59
Overall, my experience with this app has been fairly good. It is a cool concept and actually works, allowing me to stay off my phone while competing with friends. However, two big complaints I have (hence only four stars) is the fact that the app logs my “distracted driving time” while I am just a passenger and reduces my total points. There also is little incentive as there are few rewards which are actually relevant to me (more food and trendier clothing shops would be nice) and it is difficult to find any rewards local to my area or while I’m out of town. Besides that, I think the app is based on a cool concept and executes it well.
It’s impossible to earn points with new update.
by gAmLuvR on 2018/04/11 18:39
New update makes it extremely difficult to get points. I had an hour and 40 minute long class and got zero points because some solicitor called me. I didn’t even mean to hit the ‘end call’ button because I just knew it would say I lost points. It’s much easier to do the 10-20 minute time limits, but also you can really earn anything since you shouldn’t be resetting the timer during class. It’s also hard to check for points after class because if you get too far away from the room (like if you had to leave because a new class was coming in) it doesn’t register that you were ever on campus and therefore gives you nothing. If the next update won’t fix any of this, I’m just going to delete it.
Bring back the old version!!!
by 574269536$9 on 2018/05/31 15:21
I used to love this app! It helped me focus in school and the rewards are actually really cool. But this version is extremely annoying. I am constantly having to check my phone to make sure that my time doesn’t run out, and if my class ends earlier than I set my timer to, I lose the points that I made while I didn’t use it in class. Please go back to the old version, at least for the time that you are in school. Because I like this “challenge” idea for when I’m studying at home, but when I’m at school, the old version was a lot better, because I can’t control how long my professors decide to teach. And if my class ends and I have to check the bus times, I miss out on my scheduled points.
They keep taking away rewards...
by tyedyeyyooo on 2018/11/30 05:15
This app was great at the beginning of the fall semester of 2018. Now we can no longer group together with people in our class and earn more when everyone is collaborating with no phone usage. Also, the rewards that students on campus are using keep getting taken away and now I have no use for this app anymore. I used to stack up points so I could get free coffee any size at Starbucks but then they got stingy and made it a free grande iced lemonade in the winter time.... I can’t even drink that because of my dietary restrictions. They also had a free sandwich deal with Starbucks but they took that away too and replaced it with nothing. Any other deal is vaping and ecigs that appeal to college students that shouldn’t be doing that anyways. Super disappointed and uninstalling.
Watch videos to claim points??!!
by KristenJ25 on 2019/09/27 14:12
I’ve been using this app for a while, and recently they changed things where if I want to claim my points, I have to watch a 30 second ad. Ummm....isn’t the whole point of this app to keep people OFF their phones??!! It used to be I collect the points for staying off the phone and then redeem them for something. Now I have to sit and stare at an ad in order to claim the points I earned from keeping off my phone. Other than that recent development, the app works great and functions as it’s supposed to. Which is why I gave it 4 stars and not less than that.
Needs a lot of work
by Nazi Mike on 2019/02/22 17:45
I downloaded this app hoping that it would help me stay off my phone in class to earn deals on the things they offer. I never really had a problem with my phone being distracting but I soon found that the app was very buggy. When I run the app off screen and on campus, it wouldn’t time me for the length that I’ve been off my phone. I would be off my phone for close to 3 hours and it would say that I had my screen off for less than a minute. I tried contacting the help center on the app and I wouldn’t receive any help for days, and when I did get a response, they would ask the same questions over and over again. I soon found that this app has become more trouble than its worth.
Hate the most recent update
by SamMNKK on 2018/10/02 01:34
So I just got hooked on this app, and it’s pretty neat. But the most recent update is full of bugs and glitches. My times are not being recorded anymore (even though I get the “Hooray, you hit your goal!” feedback.) Also, my phone automatically goes out of Sleep mode when I get a notification that I am earning points—although the phone does not unlock—; somehow, the app deems this as the phone unlocking, meaning I am never able to reach the time-limit goal. Sigh.
Very few worthwhile rewards
by Dcmldcml on 2018/09/18 07:19
I love this app in concept, and I really want to like it. However, there are almost no rewards that actually feel like they’re worth cashing in for. Most of the rewards are just 10% (or less) off somewhere (often somewhere expensive), and I’ve seen multiple instances where the reward was just a promotion the store was doing anyway. Many of them are for shops I’ve never heard of and/or have no interest in buying from. And ultimately, these (unexciting) rewards typically cost 20 or less points- accurate to their value, but when it’s pretty easy to rack up hundreds of points, it seems pointless. I’d be happy to spend lots of points on one reward (I can save up!) if it’s something I’d actually want.
Great App
by Naval Vet on 2018/09/25 21:23
This is a great way to draw attention to distracted driving. Since beginning to use this App at UNO due to the recommendation of a professor to get students to stay off the phone during class time and get rewarded for doing so. I became more aware of the amount of driving I was doing distracted and has helped me to significantly reduce that amount making me safer on the roads. I also use it now on my children’s cell phones to know when they are using their phones whiles driving.
If I’m Broke, Then I Can’t Spend $$$ on Expensive Rewards
by Blunty Hunty on 2018/08/26 14:53
I’m not a college student, but I am broke. I thought this app would be an easy way to earn things, and it is. I really enjoy how the timer works, except for when you get a call and lose all points. The driving system is great, until you check your points and earn a Distracted Driving point. I’d really like to see more fast food rewards like McDonald’s or Burger King. I’m already broke, I don’t have money to spend at American Eagle Outfitters, ASOS, or whatever protein powder. I have to spend money to save money, and I don’t think that’s incredibly flawed. The problem is that I DON’T have money to start with and I don’t have ANY options to spend money to save money if everything is out of my price range. I do think that this app has a lot of potential, but I’m going to quit and not recommend it to anyone if it doesn’t improve. I was recommended this app by a friend in the first place, and I am sorely disappointed.
Good idea, mediocre execution
by Sarahfromonhigh on 2019/04/28 15:31
It’s an excellent idea to keep people off their phones. The goal setting or counting how many minutes you aren’t on your phone is brilliant. However, the reward system is pretty limited, doesn’t do much, and it only uses a few points. It doesn’t fully encourage increased time off your phone, which is the point. It looks like they’re getting better, but maybe a few things that are free or close to it for more points would be better because I would have something to reach for.
I don’t like the new update.
by Nellie 96 on 2018/05/03 17:39
I enjoyed using PocketPoints until this new update came about. While I understand the idea of having a goal in order to give students something to look forward to while their phones are locked, I don’t think it helps anything. A student cannot help if their professor ends class early or if a class doesn’t take as long as expected. Also, what about the classes that are three hours long? The highest goal is about two hours, but I’m taking three courses that are three hours long within the first few days of the week. All in all, I think switching the app back to the way it was would be better.
AMAZING
by Yolo-21 on 2019/04/26 03:27
This is hands down one of the best apps i’ve ever downloaded. Whenever i walk into 1st period i’m always using my phone but with Pocket Points, the app makes me not use my phone at all anymore during class. You would think it’s fake or something but i didn’t spend a single penny on chick fil a and all those coupons for everything else is real. I recommend the app for everyone, especially if you use your phone a lot in class.
Pocket Points
by señor venters on 2019/03/20 16:56
This app could be better if there were more online merchandise options and more restaurant options. I do love that this app offers discounts on merchandise and food simply for not being on my phone! It’s a great motivational tool to keep me focused when I need to be productive. I also like that the points don’t expire. More points should be available when not on the phone while driving. Points should not be available if the person is on a school campus and uses the phone during class time.
Needs better deals
by Mistafun21 on 2018/07/20 15:36
I love the concept, the execution could be better due to the app not always being able to detect when I’m in class. For example, I’ll use the app during class, but when I come back to my phone, no points will have accrued. NEEDS BETTER DEALS. Most of the deals are discounts that the companies already offer. There are very few incentives to even use this app if I can get the same discounts for just going to the vendor’s website. Chick fil a used to be the best one, but that’s gone now. Definitely needs more food option. Mediocre app until they can get more/better deals, even if the rewards cost more.
Great idea, not well put together
by Jadenatter on 2018/11/18 01:53
It’s a wonderful idea. Who doesn’t want free stuff for not being on your phone? But the places that have coupons available are so few and far between, and the stuff that have coupons are mostly stuff I wouldn’t have bought in the first place. I’m keeping it because if I end up having to buy something that has a coupon from this app I can use it, but otherwise there’s no reason to stress about staying off your phone all the time to get as many points as you can. It’s just not worth the time.
Too many notifications
by Flppybrdy on 2018/09/10 18:27
I really like the concept of this app. I’m in school everyday so I enjoy being able to acquire points for staying off my phone and finding small rewards for it. That being said, this app sends TOO MANY notifications. The notifications have to be on so that you know when you have reached your goal, but it sends me a notification that says “swipe to start earning points now!” about every 20 minutes. I’ve gotten soooo sick of it. I would suggest making your notifications less annoying, it definitely drives me away.
I miss the way it used to be
by sarslo on 2019/07/19 00:13
Recently I have experienced issues with my points not appearing after I completed the time off of my phone. My biggest issue is that I will be off my phone during class and once I get back after my set goal it says that I earned 0 points! I didn’t even have my phone out! The integrity has been lost and I really dislike setting these goal times vs when I would just press start and push my phone aside while studying. It would be great to have more options for places around town to use my points, but it’s okay ish now. After this most recent update, my app won’t even open anymore. The app is now trash.
Doesn’t load
by miasereana on 2019/11/02 03:34
For the past 4 updates, the entire app will not load.
Works like a Charm
by Sruns on 2018/05/17 04:13
I’ve gotten really sick of being on my phone, especially during class. This app helped to motivate me to beat people in longest time not looking at my phone and I earned real rewards at the same time! Having the rewards close to home and things that I normally spend money on has been great! I love that they are updating it to expand to home, work, or where ever you are! Thanks PocketPoints!
It’s great but....
by Dukecasper101 on 2019/08/17 15:32
I’ve been using this app for almost a year and it’s great. I love using the app and my points are stacking a lot, especially after driving. The only issue is that the bug fixes haven’t fixed the fact that I can not access anything in the app. When I open the app I am left with a white screen that will not go away. I can’t do anything with he app now. I hope this can get fixed. It works for my friends, but I don’t know why it isn’t working for me. Is it because of the type of phone I have? iPhone 8+
Was a perfect app
by Lentes25 on 2019/07/19 18:19
When I first got the app, I was a freshman in college. It worked so good. Awarding me points, saving me money at local businesses and other manufacturers. And then... I got the new updates and all of a sudden, it doesn’t want to open. It doesn’t want to load the opening page, and I don’t earn anymore points. I work at a local business across my university, this app helped students eat on a low budget, now they all have the same problem I do. What happened?
Great, but needs improvement
by SpaghettiPenguin on 2020/02/17 21:27
It’s a great concept, but I wish there were coupons worth more points to redeem. I’ve accumulated over 1000 in the past month and I’m not sure what to do with them. Also the leagues are fun to compete in, but it’s kind of unfair that college students (like myself) are competing against high school students who are in class 40 hours a week. I use it every day so it’s a good app, but maybe add coupons that are worth more and put college students in league groups only with college students.
Great, but confused..
by Epic gecko 23 on 2019/10/18 11:52
I have been using pocket points for the past week and a half now for school, and I’ve been trying to earn hours. I turned to goal mode to achieve those hours for that homework pass, and the app is supposed to keep me off of my phone, but the goal mode doesn’t allow me to lock my phone. Instead of paying attention, I’m more focused on trying to not let my phone turn off from inactivity. Thank you for your time.
Does its job, but wish there were more rewards
by onedisdumb on 2019/10/05 13:03
Pocket points definitely does a great job of keeping me up my phone while I’m trying to do homework. The only problem is that there isn’t a lot of incentives/coupons for our area. Definitely wish there was more because there’s only four or five places that I can use Pocket Points, so I may get tired of using it after a while if I have all these points but nothing to spend them on.
Great App!
by kellosa1 on 2018/08/17 20:46
This app is easy to use and really beneficial for college students. My professor had told me to get this, to get free/discounted deals. I was skeptical at first, but it really works! I have gotten multiple FREE foods and such. The only downside is if you are NOT on campus, it takes much longer for u to get points. 35 minutes only gets you about 3-6 points. But they always update the app and add more amazing features, so it keeps getting better. Definitely recommend for anyone.
Please add more restaurants near me
by witch finger boy on 2019/07/13 02:05
Good app but needs more coupons for restaurants near me because many places have been discontinuing or businesses like cold stone creamery, qdoba and Panda Express are not including the locations near me. Some things that I love about the new update is that I was finally able to earn points 10 days in a row and I can earn points on campus before/after regular school hours and I can earn them off campus now too and I can earn double points every school day instead of Tuesday’s only.
Am I the only one having this issue?
by GoneHamHD on 2019/02/22 12:01
Tried to use goal mode... was off my phone for 3 hours, checked, received 0 points. The app also isn’t registering when I lock my phone. The 5 hours I spent studying yesterday (don’t get me wrong, I definitely benefitted from having not used my phone) I didn’t receive a single point (well technically 0.8 — no joke). Tried reaching out to the help center. No response. This app seems like a total bust. Good concept, doesn’t work (for me). From other reviews, it seems like they’ve messed up with their newest update. Hate when developers lose touch with what got them started smh.
