Another question!
by Shaniqua the bra on 2019/12/13 06:22
If I were to get this the paid version would I be able to be worry free on a windows laptop I’m afraid of actually buying and being on my laptop longer than an hour I keep thinking I’m going to have to the format it if I get a virus 🦠 or something so would the VPN keep me safe from that or is this just a security from getting hacked and whatnot
I do a lot of traveling
by JustGoWithIt21 on 2019/12/13 01:36
I do a lot of traveling for my work and unfortunately I need to use hotel internet. I use this app for my iPhone/iPad and my laptop. I sometimes more often than not, have issues connecting to the hotel internet while using this vpn. do to the fact that most but not all hotels automatically make you go to a activation website, where you need to put in their password to access the hotel internet. Also I have a lot of issues with websites and apps like, Facebook/Twitter/Netflix/Hulu and a lot more but those are the main ones that I can think of at the moment. This app/vpn works for the most part but I think this company needs more work! I’d give them a higher rating but I have too many issues at the moment!

Great app but speed is the issue
by etkhen on 2019/12/12 23:28
I’m a long time Nord user but I’ve always had problems with speed. I have 500mbps down / 50mbps up service but only get 64.7mbps / 6.46mbps. That’s a major hit on speed. Otherwise it’s a great app for many, many reasons. Even with the lack of speed this is the only VPN service I’ll ever use.
Thanks nordvpn

The King of VPN Services
by ThinkingMonkey on 2019/12/12 16:57
If you’ve been researching long and hard like I did and couldn’t make your mind up about which paid VPN service to go with, you can stop looking. You’ve found it right here. I’ve been with NordVPN for going on 2 years now after trying 3 or 4 others for a while and NordVPN easily puts all others to shame. Their speed, quality of their client app, customer service, and ease of use is unsurpassed. If you think this is an exaggerated review just give them a try for a month and you’ll agree with everything I’ve said, guaranteed.
Loss of Auto Connect
by hidelaug on 2019/12/12 16:51
Version 5.1.0 & 5.0.9 refuse to remain on auto-connect, despite the “Always stay connected” option being selected. Worse is that internet signal is not terminated when VPN connection is lost. Significant bug. Do not update.

Used to be good. Now horrible on iOS 13
by SigmaSnake on 2019/12/12 16:26
NordVPN used to be very good, but their new app long with iOS 13 has messed things up to a point of being unusable. The connection slows to a crawl after 15-20 minutes of use, and has to be manually reset to return to function, then rinse and repeat. This instability and inconsistency is unacceptable for the end users. Edit: Still dealing with the same problems with no help from support. Now NordVPN is causing excess battery drain from my iPad with 40% lost overnight. Battery usage meter shows NordVPN running in the background 100% of the time.
Love it!
by ostldm01 on 2019/12/12 14:44
Super easy connectivity. The support is unparalleled. I have asked for help in the middle of the night and been guided through some troubleshooting issues.

Speed is ok, and I used to find it slow. But recently I find quick connect will do just fine. Waiting for Black Friday deal.👍🔥🥳 But the price goes up. And hoping to see a lifetime subscription. 2019Dec4 hard to connect in app, and I can’t connect to 🇮🇳 2019Dec12 better to use it according to its instructions on the website.
Need to fix issues
by Gunhaxx on 2019/12/11 23:43
The vpn client will get stuck in certain states. So let’s say I’ll turn on the feature to turn on vpn on untrusted WiFi. It should do it automatically and 50% of the time it will. The other 50% it just won’t turn on automatically. Other times I might be connected to vpn on an untrusted WiFi and might want to add it to trusted and when I click manage it does nothing. When I try to turn on vpn it won’t allow me to turn it off, even after force closing the app. Other times I’ll turn off the auto vpn on untrusted WiFi while connected to vpn and it’ll just stay connected and keep reconnecting automatically. I love their product but this needs to be fixed as it’s an annoying process. Reinstall seemed to fix the issue but do look into.

Seamless - great choice!
by SuZqZ222 on 2019/12/11 03:51
⇵Both true. Lots of choices from both location and $ plan. Haven’t have a problem yet. Had for 6+ mos. 3yr plan. 👍🏼+ Easy, totally reasonable $ from Nord. Never used VPN before, but won’t be without it ever again.
App has issues. Service is good.
by Gsjbdifibdjdq479999432 on 2019/12/11 00:38
When I first got Nord after a lot of research it was wonderful. Since then they have added features but with that the quality of the app has severely deteriorated. The main issue I’ve encountered is with the auto connect. It does not work. If it even attempts to automatically connect it fails to connect. Usually though it doesn’t even try. The service itself is fine. I have been working with their support for a while and they have said some of it is known issues and they are working on it. If you already have Nord I highly recommend using the open vpn app and downloading the profiles from Nord’s site. Eventually support asked me to try it and while it means losing some features from the Nord app it means actually connecting to the vpn which is not ideal but I can’t use the other features at all if I can’t even use the vpn. Hopefully they update the app to fix its issues soon. For what it’s worth support has been very friendly. Support #4472784 since they responded to my review before asking for it.
App disconnects randomly

Good product but worry about updates
by campnfools on 2019/12/10 17:02
I have this loaded on 2 laptops and my iPhone XR. At first (6 months ago) one of my laptops absolutely hated it. So bad in fact that I was sure the wheels had fallen off the buggy and wound up replacing it! Once I uninstalled NordVPN, the laptop came back to life. About a month ago I loaded it on the new laptop and it works flawlessly. Now, my iPhone, different story. Everything was great until a couple of weeks ago. Now any time I try and launch it I get a “NO INTERNET CONNECTION” message. CS hasn’t been able to assist. I did see that there was an iOS update about 2 weeks ago. Coincidence?

DOES NOT AUTO CONNECT
by World traveler standby on 2019/12/10 15:03
Switching from WiFi to cell phone data and vice versa, the auto connect for NordVPN does not even work. So I could be using public WiFi and thinking that I’m still on vpn when it isn’t . You guys need to put a kill switch option for iOS. Try switching to udp, tcp, and ike, and it still does it. I canceled my auto renew, I’m going to pay for subscription with another vpn. NordVPN was a waste of money, can’t believe I bought the three year membership
Well planned.
by Rance.1 on 2019/12/10 14:54
The design seems to be impeccable one. I love the application as it has got speed. This is one VPN app to consider.
Worth the effort
by Kurtis C Flynn on 2019/12/10 14:50
Setting it up and connecting to the servers is worth the effort. This VPN allows you to access the internet privately. This means you are untraceable all the time. Good app.

I’m loving 🥰 this gift from my husband , it’s a iPhone 6s Plus!, I can get lost with in my phone... Only thing is that I can’t get internet through the cable company it’s too pricey for me and it’s not all that!, I thank god I came across you folks while I was going over my phone 🧐 I got more places to get in and find out what is what. If y’all hadn’t been there for me to find I would still be frustrated and would have to go to McDonald’s just to get free wi-fi I’m having to park as close as I can to get a good connection. 🥳😎🤓
Top Notch
by Rjbt1983 on 2019/12/09 20:54
I have been using another top rated VPN for almost 2 years, and was happy with it, but it could not provide the level of security that NordVPN does (due to federal regulations, without substantial cost increase. It’s all about log files). I was very happy from the get go with NordVPN. Nord was noticeably faster and did a better job of blocking unwanted ads, etc. I’m very happy with the switch to NordVPN
iPhones Could Not Connect To Internet
by tandsugr on 2019/12/09 20:22
Nord VPN stopped our iPhones (SE, 7 Plus, and 11) from connecting to the internet when it could not establish a connection to it’s server. Gave up and uninstalled after using 3 months of a 12 month subscription.
Lost my business..
by EasyBreezy1015 on 2019/12/09 20:06
Never had a problem with Nord VPN as I’ve been using it for the last couple years with no issues. But this morning the app is trying to force me to sign up (again) for a new subscription with a yearly fee. I already pay monthly and have paid for the whole month of December and can no longer use the service because of this. I can’t even contact their support because it keeps telling me I don’t have an email associated with them BUT WHAT ABOUT THE EMAIL IVE BEEN USING FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS AND WAS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BETA FOR YOUR PASSWORD VAULT APP. so ridiculous sorry I’ll find a new paid vpn.

Fantastic app but network whitelisting broken!
by eugthom on 2019/12/09 01:26
This app is fantastic, but the network whitelisting for trusted networks feature needs to be fixed ASAP. Without this I have to keep getting back into the app to disable/enable VPN for a trusted network, rather than relying on this feature to do the magic automatically.
The most recent version of the app is pathetic!
by harishj on 2019/12/08 22:30
Auto connect on WiFi has just stopped working. Opened a support case with them and they just resolved it without any correspondence. What's the point of charging for a service if it doesn't work as you expect it to! The ticket I logged was 4514226. No response in my inbox or spam.

Has been useless for me. I'm done with it.
by dkxkee on 2019/12/08 15:17
When I wrote a one-star review back in October, Nord contacted me with several suggestions of possible remedies. Have switched protocols, used auto-connect and not used it, switched server countries, etc. Whenever I have Nord on, half of my iPhone or iPad is useless. Many apps won't function, many websites won't load, screen freezes, etc. Have deleted and re-installed, it simply does not work for me. I bought the "best deal" for three years, and I was a fool. I may as well have lit six twenty-dollar bills on fire.

First time user - NordVPN
by Spotify user2015 on 2019/12/08 09:19
First day in using NordVPN. . I was not too impressed with the speed offered. I have tried connecting to Canada-speed was slow; USA-better speed but still slow; Latin America-slow; EU-slow. All connection was averaging 2mb and slower. Will continue to test in the next few days. I am planning on using this for my travels to hopefully remote back to my office. I really hope this will come in handy. Will report back in January 2020 after my trip. If I plan on keeping this service.

Horrible support, can’t log in
by KHASL on 2019/12/07 19:06
Wasn’t able to log in for months when they mysteriously reset my password, so I gave up. On a public network, decided to try to get back in. I kept resetting my password, could log in to website, but same error msg when trying to log on to actual VPN. Contacted support, and they told me that special characters are not valid in their passwords. Why not clarify that for users when creating a password so that a user can actually create a working password? These same passwords that give error messages do work to log in to their website though. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Their support is smug, condescending, and willfully unhelpful. No thanks.

Everythings is OK BUT ...
by Shervin20 on 2019/12/07 01:57
Everything is working properly other than the user interface. The user interface is not responsive whenever I start the app. It takes about 5 to 10 seconds to become responsive and works normally.
Getting worse and worse.
by Zac1777 on 2019/12/06 23:20
Below was my first review. Now it signs me out once a day so I'm wishing I could rate it zero. Huge pain to have to sign in constantly. My advice: find a different service for VPN. Inconsistent, disconnects at least 10 times a day and I have to open the app for it to reconnect. A little frustrating, but I like the security features.
Outstanding app
by asiaboy_2018/9 on 2019/12/06 16:07
my home is in the us. since november 2018 i have used nord in thailand, cambodia, vietnam, malaysia, indonesia, singapore, nepal and india. as long as there's a solid wifi or mobile data service nord works great. i have great success connecting with us servers. other country's vpn work well too. i had issues connecting to my banking websites both via their website and their individual apps. nord solved those issues without question and in an extremely rapid timeframe. highly recommend!
Absolute garbage!
by Kyle R 90 on 2019/12/06 16:07
One of the worst VPNs I have ever used. Do not waste your money! It takes forever to connect (if you are even lucky to connect.) sometimes I’ll try to connect for over 30 minutes without giving up. The quick connect function is terrible, it just time out and does nothing instead of attempting different servers. They have 5k+ servers and it will keep trying to connect you to the same 3 even after they have failed multiple times.. absolute garbage VPN. I constantly switch back to using some of my free VPNs because they are more reliable, connect faster, are more stable, and have better functionality. I am utterly stunned by how bad Nord is.
Does not work in China
by SachBDS on 2019/12/06 15:55
Wanted to find a VPN that works in China and Nord is not the answer. Doesn’t work at all on my iPhone, very seldom works on my iPad. Requested for a refund based on product not working in China, and AppStore immediately refused. Terrible experience, would give 0 stars if I could.
Bad service and misleading subscriptions
by TurkeyLord65 on 2019/12/06 14:49
This service was not transparent that the plan advertised on the app is a year plan in which you pay all at once, not in monthly intervals. After all it does say $6.99 a month doesn’t it. Not only that but their “30 day money back guarantee” does not apply when you buy through the App Store, meaning it does not apply to a massive chunk of their customer base. As for the service itself it constantly disconnects and does not work with several websites.
Worst app in the world
by hate nig on 2019/12/06 06:26
Don’t get this vpn because it just causes more problems that you already have I got this app and only wanted a 1 month trial and it gave me a yearly subscription and I can’t take it off of my credit card billing history and it’s like a pain in the but worst app ever.
Complete useless in China
by Dbittleman on 2019/12/06 02:19
I bought this service to use while teaching in China. It has been completely useless since I got here. No customer support. No connection. I notice that when others complain, the manager of this review site dismissively points out that the person has not yet responded to the ticket, presumably asking for feedback. This response demonstrates an ignorance to what life is like living without a VPN in China. We can’t respond to any ticket that you send us because, without a VPN, we have no access to gmail. That is a banned site in China. We can’t tell you how lousy your service is because we need your service to access the ticket. Ugh. At one point I got a response from customer service to download various gooeys and try them using various connection points. None of the instructions could be carried out because the downloads weren’t accessible without VPN access. On top of that, the instructions were unintelligible. I don’t have a computer science degree. I’m busy trying to teach English in China. Do not use this service for device in China. Once they’ve taken your money, they will leave you to fend for yourself. My wife chose a different service and the support has been the difference between night and day. When there is China interference, they send her notification through their website, knowing that she has no email access at the time. They have diagnostic chat that will help work through the challenging climate that China presents. She has never been expected to download gooeys to work on her own through the program. Buyer beware.
too many issues
by Lost troops on 2019/12/06 00:51

Not set and forget
by Sumo opine on 2019/12/05 00:11
While long ago the service used to work flawlessly and seamlessly where you could turn it on and forget it was there, quietly protecting you in the background, it is no longer so. I’m constantly having to disconnect and reconnect, or launch the app because it won’t connect, or it connects but can’t get an IP address. I’ve not installed it on my wife’s phone because I know she’d never put up with the hassle. Even though I have well over 2 more years paid for already, I’m considering switching to something else.

Latest Update Breaks Functionality
by Ghost4812 on 2019/12/04 15:51
I loved this app previously but the latest update made it unusable for me. 1) CyberSec now blocks all social media. No matter if I'm connected to any wifi or just on my phone's data, social media will not refresh if CyberSec is on. 2) Onion servers were removed. I am unable to connect to Onion servers as they no longer appear under "Specialty Servers" and there is no option anywhere else. 3) Any connection is automatically made "P2P" even if P2P was not directly chosen. If you attempt to disconnect from P2P, it simply disconnects entirely and any new connection is automatically P2P. No way to turn it off. Fix these issues and I'll update my review. 12/4/19: CyberSec still blocks social media. Fix this!

Why can’t this VPN work properly?
by Moezahriya on 2019/12/03 12:03
I’ve tried NordVPN with 2 iPhones 1 android and a MacBook all of them are having connection issues when using NordVPN it’s straight up annoying ,just don’t understand unless everyone’s making it hard for VPNs to exist.
VPN service
by Chemainus57 on 2019/12/02 22:46
Whenever there’s an occasion to stack the odds against invasion of privacy and the necessity to have uninanimity the use of VPN gives one the protection and observation that the unit that carries the signal for service shows that it is randomly unablbor intentionally in another city state or country.

Really poor on iOS, borderline useless
by piavpnbetteronios on 2019/12/02 13:03
App loads slowly then I get repeated false psitive connections where initially says it’s connected but then absolutely nothing works and you have to go back to the slow loading app to find out it it’s in an endless “connecting” loop. Never had any of these issue with PIA VPN on iOS. Seems to work better on laptop but I use my phone all the time and when you have no connection or don’t know you don’t have a connection and you think your email or weather is synced, you can walk outside or in to a meeting and be in for quite a nasty surprise.
Absolutely horrible
by random829463 on 2019/12/02 11:57
I’m among many students study in China who were assured by Nords website that they had working servers in China. It’s been over 2 months since any of us have been able to connect at all and customer service continues to deny that there are issues. We have spent weeks trying every download and manual connection option to no avail and rather than listen to us we get told time and time again that there is a “new solution”, “update”, “innovation solution” etc. it absolutely feels like a scam. We have family, friends and jobs who we would like to communicate with and you have made it very miserable for us to do so.

I understand that with VPN service, you typically experience some decrease in speed/bandwidth. However, I was not expecting that my internet service would lose 1/2 to 3/4 of its downstream speed and more than 3/4 of its upload speed. I do feel that this service has a commitment to ensuring the privacy of its users and that it is committed to improvement. However, the VPN I use for work is not nearly this slow. I don’t understand why the extreme loss in speeds are occurring.

NordVPN and Nordlocker

Using for two cell phones and two laptops. Seamless use with each device and very convenient. Nordlocker even works with cloud services to direct your files straight into an encrypted folder. Very happy camper here

I got the app so I could watch an NFL game that was not airing in my region. It didn’t fool my iPhone. I was hoping to get help from their website but there is no real instruction on making it work. So, I’m uninstalling. Seems to work fine as a VPN though.
Scammers
by SCAM VPN DO NOT USE on 2019/12/01 13:35
If I could give this review 0/5 stars I would. This organization scams you by promising a $12 a month charge after a seven day trial but maxes out to $83 for the year. Additionally, the service doesn’t work. So not only do they swindle you out of money but the product doesn’t do what you overpay for it to do.

Peace of Mind
by theRealMickster on 2019/02/02 18:35
I’m not a paranoid person, but I also don’t want to get burned for being naive. I did a lot of studying before choosing a VPN, and NordVPN has been giving me peace of mind, especially when I’m utilizing free WiFi at a cafe or hardware store. People ask me, “You have unlimited data! Why do you even connect to those routers?” Typically, it’s because I need to utilize some feature they’ve built into their system (to get you more connected with them in another way). There are certain sites or apps that this will slow down. Its not a glitch. It’s actually revealing as to what those apps really do when it comes to tracking your location or monitoring public use. Sometimes, it does slow down because of some communication issue somewhere in data path, but I either just keep going until it speeds up again, or I disconnect from my WiFi and reconnect. Then, it goes back to normal.
Great Service
by CCguru on 2018/05/24 14:34
I find NordVPN a great service. I researched long and hard to see if there were any definite winners, and there were not. I think the biggest problem is potential conflicts of interest with the various reviewers. Still NordVPN seemed to come out at or near the top in most of the reviews, so with that I decided to give them a try. This is my first try at a VPN service, as such, so I am far from an expert in his area. I was looking for basically three things 1)ease of use, 2) security , and 3) speed. With NVPN I have been very pleased with all three, but there is a little room for improvement. This could easily be a stellar 5 Star service if they tweaked their client apps a bit. I have a 60 Mbps Internet service. My normal worst case is to drop to 20 Mbps. This sounds terrible, but it is not as bad as it sounds IMO. By switching to a different lightly loaded server, however, my speed only drops to around 55-58 Mbps which is basically imperceptible. Some of NVPN’s client apps make it easy to locate and select a nearby lightly loaded server and others don’t. It is important to seek out a good server if you are getting a real performance hit, so if NVPN would build this manual capability into their clients, through filtering etc, they would be exceptional and definitely 5 Star.
Frustrating slow.

I paid for a 1 year subscription and use this app on my XS and on my PC. I use the option to let the app to choose the closest server. Nord VPN lags my apps on my phone, which is extremely annoying when using my phone for shopping in town. I often have had to wait for more than a minute for coupon apps to load and specific store apps to load content now. Some apps became so slow they wouldn’t load content at all making them useless. While aware that VPN slows connectivity slightly due to encryption, this is the first one I’ve used that creates such an issues that that I notice a huge difference. On two different occasions I’ve had to reinstall because for some reason Nord disconnected, the app and my phone won’t store my password for the app, which wouldn’t matter anyway because when I enter the password in, the app tried to log on then logs off, as if the password is wrong. I check several times, the pass isn’t wrong. Uninstalling and reinstalling immediately fixes this. For the most part I have no issues on my PC with this program. Every now and then it will disconnect and then just not reconnect again, leaving me offline all night. This isn’t something I have experienced prior to using this on my PC.

Do NOT BUY IT!
by Ttacmz on 2017/11/04 15:45
I bought Nord for my Mac Pro. It worked fine the first day. For whatever reason the second day I got to spend four hours on chat with their tech specialist downloading other files so that I could actually work on the Mac. It worked for about two days and then certain website start dropping off you couldn't get them. Then the second week it started cycling on and off we couldn't connect to any servers. The real problem is you have to have a VPN to contact their service tech so I have an app and a continual loop of emails. He finally gave me a way to talk to the technician the technician is all of about 10. How the technician will do for you is have you flip switches on and off uninstall and reinstall the program I've now been on with them for another hour and a half. Still nothing works and I don't want to refund my money because I've been working with them for almost 3 weeks now, which means that I've gone over the 30 day moneyback portion of their agreement. I've told them that they can keep their one-month that worked I'm willing to pay for that and they could refund the remainder. But they are insistent that I should stay with them and continue to waste my time or just let them keep the $100 I paid for a service that doesn't work.
Nothing but trouble
by Reggie IT Novice on 2019/01/10 01:28
After downloading the application, I got connected, but could do nothing else because neither the account or the heart icon appeared. I promptly wrote to customer support which replied slowly, providing canned responses indicating that they had not even read my emails. Even worse, most of my email reply messages were blocked, stating that the server was unable to relay messages. I tried every remedy I could find online, including delete that mail account. When I tried that, and restored the account, I found all the email in the outbox had disappeared completely . Suspecting that the Nord application might be the culprit, I tried to disconnect it in settings, but it immediately came back on spontaneously. Finally, I went to the application and successfully disconnected it on my my IPhone . I then went to the Outbox and tried to send an email I had written after the account had been restored, but the server had rejected it sending it to the Outbox. Success ! I have had no problem with the phone’s email since. Because I had the same problem with my IPad, I was about to disconnect when I was asked to write a review. This is it. I will now try to disconnect on my IPad . And demand a refund.
Not great for a day to day VPN.
by Blak225 on 2019/11/08 15:17
I have been using this for maybe 6 months now on my Mac and iPhone. From day one I’ve had frustrations on both platforms and they haven’t been fixed or made better at all. iPhone problems 1) email app (I’ve tried 3 different apps) will stop working and deleting app, restarting phone won’t work. Only way to get email sometimes is to killVPN connection. 2) worst problem, when you turn your phone on from a black screen and you’re connected to WiFi you can’t use the internet until you turn the WiFi connection on your phone off/on a few times and help your phone “realize” you’re on WiFi not LTE. My computer has had similar issues with the app from the iTunes Store as well as the VPN site. Most of the time I have to turn off the VPN completely just to get the internet to work. 🤦🏻‍♂️At this point it’s only useful for specific times when I don’t mind messing with it. Hard to understand how such basic user issues have not been met or addressed for 6 months I’ve used it.
Can’t maintain a connection
by $321$123$ on 2019/03/22 01:36
This seemed like a great idea and product and I believe at the heart of the matter it is but at least half the time when I start using my browser, nord is not connected even though I always have app running or disconnects in middle of session and I have to reconnect and keep trying different servers. Which is why I have kill switch turned on because otherwise you would be surfing and not know you no longer have protection of vpn. I have iPhone se. if you are using out of country server you will simply not get into lots of websites . And I can only speak to iPhone on this issue, your iPhone will sometimes report your location to sites even if you are on vpn. You may be able to turn something off in your settings to not allow that but I have not really tried. I bought NordVPN just to use it when I was using credit card or financial sites and for my kids to have on their phones for “weirdo” security and as long as you make sure it’s live before you start surfing I think you’d be good.
Not Helpful for China/Confusing Tech Support
by QufuChina2019 on 2019/06/04 11:14
I bought a subscription to VPN before I moved to China because the online reviews were so good. I could connect without problems in the US, where having a VPN wasn’t essential, but as soon as I got to China, I had endless troubles. I was never once able to connect. Every couple of weeks, I give this VPN another earnest try, but then after a series of emails with their tech support and a few hours lost down the rabbit hole of their instructions that don’t work, I give up. Connecting shouldn’t be rocket science. I have two other VPNs, and I don’t need a coding certificate to use them. They have their problems—brought on by the Chinese government—but they always connect when the government here isn’t cracking down. Nord won’t connect in the sunniest of Chinese political climates. My one wish is that I hadn’t signed up for Nord in the first place. Now I read that I have to manually say no to renewal when the time comes. Hoo boy! Someone at Nord appears to be writing all of the positive reviews. My advice: stay far from this VPN. It will waste your time in the same way that a government that restricts its Internet traffic will.
Great App, Room to Improve
by Floski123 on 2019/05/22 02:05
Nord is one of the better VPNs out there. I’m pretty satisfied with the desktop and mobile offering. The widget is extraordinarily helpful; I use quick connect a lot. There are some things to improve, largely around switching between data and WiFi. Sometimes, WiFi is on but only the LTE appears (without the VPN badge) and nothing goes through nor does it attempt to connect. It gets into a weird state between the WiFi trying to connect and applying VPN to the data connection. Weirdly it also doesn’t work with Bank of America, at all but that’s likely on their side of things; frustrating that I have to turn off VPN to mobile bank but whatcha gonna do Overall great product, I recommend it to anyone that’s looking. Once you get used to the slight drop in speed, as with any VPN, there’s no looking back to the days of insecure connections. It’d be great to see Nord continue innovating in the security space and offer even more tools down the road.
Great VPN!!
by SlateCoal on 2017/12/16 12:26
Have been using Nord VPN for about a week. It’s my 5th VPN and so far, LOVE IT!! Customer support is excellent, fast to respond and go above and beyond, to assist. My cell is hacked & I needed a good VPN, to do anything on my cell. The hackers already broke through multiple VPN’s. Nord stopped a Hacker already and was the 1st VPN to do that. If I could double the stars given, I would. A great VPN, excellent support, can be used on multiple devices. Catches & stops Hackers. What more could you ask for? Very happy with my purchase. Plus, it has plenty of countries to choose from, numerous places to connect. Also gives you the load and the distance. I normally don’t write reviews but did this time in case someone is looking for a good VPN. I have an iPhone that is not supposed to be able to be hacked, but it is. If anyone else is concerned about privacy or being hacked, check Nord out. They even send very useful, tips. So far, I love this VPN!!! A++++++++++++
Excellent Updates
by Poiujfret on 2019/05/03 02:03
When I purchased my NordVPN subscription it was mainly for my PCs, so the phone app was a nice extra that I would occasionally use. Initially it was almost more trouble than it was worth, however over the past few months the devs have pushed a significant number of patches for the mobile app. These patches have improved performance, added features, and just overall really improved the experience. I don’t generally write reviews, but the devs definitely deserve praise for this one. Initially I would have given it 3 stars - not great but not bad, a useful app that had problems. After all of the changes, easy 5 stars. I do wish it was more clear what is being used for DNS. I have adjusted the DNS settings on my phone, while connected does Nord inherit those, or simply connect to their DNS? That’s my only very minor gripe, keep up the excellent work!
Wow read what folks say is true rude customer support

Ok now told only customers have chat mode, as I am on 3 year plan due to family and friends also have is why I got it as well. Now today no servers found errors, data re entered just gone after told to reboot the Harrison told is now off that I understand, but then NO CHAT MODE OFFERED BUT WARNING POSTED BY VPN ONLY AVAILABLE FOR CUSTOMERS AS I WAS IN CHAT MODE. SEE these ratings here is true, just over night rude and now no customer support no chat support and no servers to connect, wow happy new year, this is totally unacceptable. This is what they post live online trying to get customer support. We only provide support for our customers over the chat and email systems. But we can assure you that our team of bright and analytic minds will tackle all your issues and questions with the utmost precision and provide you a solution in no time. Feel free to contact them anytime via chat or email by clicking on the buttons below. That is what you see trying to go back to support that now is not available, as others say here this is never acceptable to me as new customers or to any customers.
Worth the money!
by CV Outlaw on 2018/04/24 20:14
Easy to use, safe and secure. Look for a promotion before signing up to save yourself some dough. If you can’t find one go with this VPN anyways. (I gonna say it so brace yourself) “I work in IT for a living” and after researching for reliability, price, cool features (aka advanced functionality) and supported platforms... this was the best service and the app is very easy to use. If you are new to VPN, just select the country you want your traffic to flow through and enjoy your data secure traveling. I recommend using the auto select feature as it takes your location into account and will aid in finding you the fastest server to connect to. Also, you can leave it running but as your traffic will require some travel I find it’s better to turn it off when you’re streaming or performing task that you don’t care people can see.
Overall Good
by DW65 on 2018/08/02 16:22
****update****.....I signed out, deleted the app, restarted the phone, and re-downloaded and signed back in. Cities and correct distance are now working. While I’m glad it worked...this step should not have been necessary to get it working properly. FYI Im running iOS 11.4.1 on an iPhone X. Latest update...?? No cities listed when the 3 dot button is pressed for United States. Also, every server in the United States shows 6 miles from me which obviously is wrong. This has not been fixed in several updates. Finally average speeds have been dropping on MANY servers over the past couple of months. Please keep up and focus on quality of experience as your subscription base grows, I love Nord VPN but if I’m being honest...lately it has been frustrating, attention to detail seems to be lacking in several recent updates. Thank you for a great product, I have faith you will fix these items soon!
NordVPN is Excellent
by ObiJon2012 on 2019/05/09 02:13
Don’t be influenced by the negative reviews. NordVPN works really well, especially if you take a little time to learn the basics of VPN technology. I have used NordVPN for a couple of years and the service has only gotten better. Among other things, the developer provides many tutorials, technical papers, and a blog that is frequently updated. For most users NordVPN will work perfectly well most of the time. But you will probably run into trouble if you use it to connect to a site that already provides its own secure tunnel - like many banks. Turning your phone off for long periods of time with the VPN app still running is also asking for trouble. Turning the kill switch on without understanding what it does is another bad idea. NordVPN for iOS is an excellent app with excellent support. Highly recommended.
Great When It Works
by Cȯde 002 on 2019/11/16 21:51
Nord VPN on iOS is a dumpster fire of its desktop counterpart solely based on its connectivity issues. Not only does it continuously disconnect itself every time when you lock your phone, it also gives you a false positive connection when you reopen your phone. I’ve had to constantly disconnect and reconnect the VPN connection since it always shuts itself down even when it’s running in the background. While you’re using the VPN, it works really well and the connection seems on par with the desktop version. The vast amount of servers to connect to and the simple UI is also a plus. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Nord VPN for iOS because the experience of not having a continuous and stable connection throughout the day is a major problem and takes away the fluidity of browsing the web without it. Support said they had a fix coming up to solve the issue but that’s why they said since last year, and I don’t see any effort to change it.
Excellent VPN Updated 2019
by Kommandohund on 2019/07/08 15:01
Have used three VPNs in the last three years. So far Nord is the best. Better than Pure VPN in reliability and customer treament. I like Nord so far the best. I also have tried Proton VPN now. It is functional but Nord is still the best even without the recent enhancements they have made. On my devices I use both IKEv2 and Open VPN. Work great on the two best protocols. I use the AES that they offer. The only improvement I would suggest is giving the user the choice of TwoFish or AES. AES as a US Govt approved protocol will always be suspect to some extent if you follow the writings of Snowden from the NSA as well as encryption expert Dr. Schneier. I would prefer the choice. TwoFish and even its predecessor BlowFish have never been close to being breached even by the US NSA. Just a suggestion. Others allow the choice. Keep up the great work.
Awful
by juleskb on 2018/11/19 22:07
I switched from another VPN service because it had slow speed and connection issues. At first NordVPN was great but on iOS 12 on my iPhone X and XS Max i can’t connect to cell service after having been connected to WiFi. I’ve deleted, reinstalled, nothing works. I just tried it again and had to delete it and reboot my phone in order to have cell service. It has interfered with my work and personal life. Clearly the Nord staff think it’s my job to spend countless hours applying their worthless “solutions”. I refuse to spend another minute trying to fix their broken app. I like it on my Mac and it’s ok on my iPad but it’s a disaster on my iPhone. Nord should pay me back 1/3 of what I paid since it only works on 2/3 devices. Your developer response is not responsive. The fact is that unless I delete your app my phone cannot reconnect to cellular service. And no I’m not going to contact your customer support team yet again. I guess you weren’t listening when I said I would not expend any more labor to fix your app. You fix it.
Terrible customer service
by regret buying subscription on 2019/11/26 01:24
I purchased a 2 year subscription and all of a sudden couldn’t log in. I tried password reset and only received a link for 1 of the emails that said I didn’t have an account. I though I was mistaken and maybe had a monthly subscription. I looked for documents to support and was finally able to find it. When I chatted with customer service they needed the date, exp, and amount of purchase which I gave. They searched and still couldn’t find an account. I received a reply days later saying that I had an account with the other email that I never received a reset link for. I tried to reset again and nothing. A chat rep had to manually set a password for me to access account. I then ask, well I’ve lost over a month of use of my already paid for 2 year subscription, how will you compensate me for that? I was offered 7 days. I was not happy with this and thought a month was more reasonable. Keep in mind I had email proof of me resetting the one password in October and up until today have not been able to access account. After I was told I could send a screenshot of the email I was told it proved nothing and that the email was easy to make. I asked why would I doctor an email to try and get an extra month on an already paid for 2 year subscription? Rep was very condescending and accusatory. Great way to to treat customer with annual subscriptions. Stay away, too many other options with better service.
Good value and good product.
by BGnATC on 2019/06/09 17:50
I feel like NordVPN provides a good product for the price they ask. It really struggles with slow WiFi but works pretty well over cellular and most other WiFi’s (I understand that this is a common complaint with VPN - there’s a lot of overhead). I use it a lot at the gym on the public WiFi there, and the Notification Center widget comes and handy to quickly connect and disconnect. The app is intuitive and makes it easy to choose my preferred servers. I feel like I get what I’m paying for and I’m quite happy; I have only one complaint: each time the app updates I am forced to re-enter my login credentials and to approve a new VPN profile. I assume it has something to do with how iOS handles VPNs; it’s a minor inconvenience but I would like to enter my login credentials less frequently.
WORKS! unlike expressvpn
by Ranger_Rudy on 2019/05/29 23:48
I started out in this whole "VPN" thing with express vpn due to being overwhelmingly bombarded by their advertising on several shows and podcasts I listen to. But, I quickly and unfortunately discovered that advertising was all they were good at. Reconnecting.... reconnecting.... dropped connection.... having to restart phone.... uninstall.... reinstall.... hard restart of entire phone. Was infuriating. I quit express, got nord due to great reviews, and have had it several months now and am completely satisfied. You'll forget you even have a VPN, which is really what you want. The only time you may need to open the app is after a long period of non-use of the phone, like first thing in the morning. Then you're off to the races. 5 stars.
Keeps forgetting my login
by lior22 on 2019/11/26 21:05
*** see update below *** The app keeps on “forgetting” my login, so I’m finding myself having to log into it again often which is quite the hassle. Especially because I’m sometimes in an environment (like a conference) where I _don’t_ want to type my password in front of the people sitting behind me. Not to mention that my password is not an easy one. It’s annoying to the point of me just ditching the local internet and moving to mobile data - for which I don’t use VPN. I was a big fan since the early days, but now I’m considering alternatives. I would not recommend checking this app until this is fixed and if you do decide to use it - don’t buy long term subscription before you’ve used it for a few months. *** update *** So today my subscription expired. Do you know how I found out? I was using a highly sensitive app on an unsecured network when I decided to check on my VPN status. Imagine my surprise when I found out NordVPN decided to shut down without notice, while keeping the network connection alive. Do you know what’s worse than using an unsecured network without a VPN? Using one when you are sure you have a VPN up, but you don’t. NordVPN: I get it, my plan expired. That’s on me. But it would have been nice to get a warning before you shut down quietly and leave me exposed. Now, if you excuse me, I need to replace a few passwords and find a new VPN provider. I really wish I could rate you negative stars.
works great and reliable but some small quirks
by Nelson Ned on 2019/07/19 00:48
I bought a 3 year subscription to this service since it seems to be the best deal going. So far everything has worked great on several of my devices and if they are being truthful regarding their privacy policy then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. There are some small quirks which are kind of annoying but not deal breakers. Obviously some websites are completely unreachable through a VPN like these, even if the server is in the same country where the website is at. For me Bank of America doesn’t work at all through the VPN but all other bank sites have no problems. Also, this thing totally degrades any kind of carrier wifi calling. It is a garbled mess when using wifi calling with the VPN and you are simply better off turning off the VPN before initiating a wifi call.
Garbage
by ljsdf8uy498hr on 2019/10/09 22:46
Disconnects often even with all settings on the always connect automatically. Then the infamous ‘VPN server cannot connect’ no matter what service you pick. Frequently have to reconnect or delete app and reinstall. Tired of getting stuck with no access to Internet all of a sudden and now I either have to delete the app entirely, or sit and fix it. Update: no improvement even with iPhone Xs that is fully updated. Every week I have to uninstall and reinstall the app. This also occurred on my iPhone 7. Connecting is difficult even thought the servers say they are available and have low loads. I’d get rid of it entirely except I bought a 2 yr agreement- can’t even get my moneys worth really. Screws up email often. I did reach out to customer support during the first year of subscription- took a long time for them to respond and by then I had fixed the problem enough to get the stupid app to work. Will be switching VPNs once this one is up since I doubt I’ll get a refund at this point.
Major flaw with sign in
by Jimibrooklyn on 2019/11/01 11:35
NordVPN frequently signs me out so when this happens and I try to connect to a location, not knowing I’ve been signed out, it will ask me for my password (relentlessly). If you’re like me and store your passwords on your phone you cannot get to them as long as the NordVPN password pop up window is on your screen. So when you instead select cancel it doesn’t do anything but cause that same window to pop up a split second later. Powering off and back on just brings you right back to it. The only work around I found to get me out of this mess was to put in a bogus password, multiple times (each giving you approximately 2 seconds of time), so that I could navigate to shutting off my WiFi. That stops it from asking you for your password. What a poor design. Now I always have to copy my password from my keychain before opening NordVPN just in case it’s signed me out. NordVPN you guys need to fix this.
THIS IS A SCAM
by Deelgify on 2019/08/24 18:36
UPDATE: After working with customer support to troubleshoot the issues MANY times with no success (the only success they had was in deleting every one of my saved WiFi passwords), I decided I was unsatisfied with the service and wanted a refund. THEY REFUSED. Even though I had used less than 1 year of the 3 years I paid for, they refused to give a prorated refund. Their service is faulty and was no longer functioning in their promise of protecting my online security. Their unwillingness to stand by their product says a lot about the scam they are running with their 3 year subscription. I have switched to ExpressVPN and have been very happy with the service thus far. _____________________________________________ Nord VPN used to do a pretty decent job of making me feel protected. Even though the app was constantly disconnecting and needed manual effort to reconnect, at least the kill switch would ensure I wasn’t using the internet unprotected. NOT the case anymore! Now there is no longer an option to enable kill switch and I will randomly realize that I’m not connect to the VPN and have been using WiFi completely unprotected for who knows how long. It’s a horrible feeling! Nord needs to address this issue. We pay you to protect our connection; this unreliable service is not just inconvenient, it’s actively putting your users at risk. Will be switching to a new VPN provider as soon as I can find a more reliable service.
Connection loop on iOS, asks for VPN password endlessly
by CoreyW on 2019/08/14 21:32
When I try to connect to a new wifi network on my iPad Nord tries to auto-connect, but doing so causes iOS to ask me for the VPN password. If I cancel/dismiss the dialog it pops up again immediately, preventing me from interacting with the rest of the iPad, which means I can’t even disconnect from wifi. Instead I have to tap “ok” and while it tries my blank password I have a split second to disable wifi. With wifi disabled I can uninstall the VPN, throw Nord in the trash, and connect to the internet to write this review. The underlying technical issue, as best as I can tell, is that Nord blocks its own access from the internet when it is not active. This means that if you have an iPad that is wifi-only, you can only activate Nord when you’re already connected to a trusted network. Otherwise it blocks access to the internet, including its own servers. I’m not exactly thrilled that I purchased a 3 year subscription to this trash. Thanks Mark Rober.
NordVPN - a doorway to privacy
by Atheron121 on 2018/05/21 11:40
I’ve been using NordVPN for about 2 weeks now, and the peace of mind that it brings is very welcome. On vacation at the moment, staying in a hotel with “free” WiFi that’s not secured at all, with ANY protocol, but I can connect to my banking sites, make purchases online, all with an encrypted, secured connection. Man-in-the-middle be damned!... Easy to use, giving you the ability to either quick connect to the closest, least loaded server, or giving you the opportunity to choose a server from the list in whatever country you choose to “be” in. So far I have not noticed any impact on the speed of my connection. I would recommend NordVPN for anyone who travels or uses private WiFi out of necessity. It uses OpenVPN by default, too, which is excellent!
Need an update! (Updated)
by Adman5 on 2019/01/15 13:49
Update from below... saw other reviews about crashing and developer’s response. Deleted app, restarted iPad, reloaded app - and all is good! I find this works better than all other vPNs I had tried previously. Lots of options, speed is good, and impressed by how many reviews have replies from the developer - don’t see that in many other apps! I recommend Nord VPN (I use it on my MacBook Pro as well. Only thing I still can’t get it to do is work with MLB and other major sports apps for local blackout overrides - anybody have hints for that?) After not needing a vpn on my iPad Pro for awhile, now I do. I fired up nord and it just keeps crashing. I can connect to it through the vpn setting, but can’t pick where I want the connection to route through. An update now would be good!!! (When it works, it works well)
Protection when needed
by Dundee the Dutch Shepherd on 2018/01/18 19:07
I am new to VPNs. There are so many to choose from, that you should be cautious about just picking something because it’s free, or because you don’t know where to start researching and sorting out what’s available in the VPN world. Because I was new to using a VPN, I went and talked with someone who had a lot more experience than I had. NordVPN came highly recommended, and I happen to catch one of the discount offers available. I’ve been using my NordVPN for about 4 days now, and I can see where my peace of mind has changed, and my confidence in this “in perfect “ world has increased. The app is easy to navigate, very intuitive, and offers various levels of services based upon the user’s experience. I would recommend this product.
Works great!
by SiXX51500 on 2018/02/15 22:54
Trialed a few VPN services before settling on Nord. All had their pros and cons, but Nord was the one that consistently performed. Their privacy is excellent, they work with streaming services (Netflix for example), speed is consistent (if one server slows down, just flip to another one), and the app makes it easy to do everything you need! Plus it uses the ikev2 protocol for your iPhone, so switching from LTE to WiFi is seamless and doesn’t lose connection. Kill switch seems to work great as well if internet is interrupted for any reason. Other services may offer a specific feature that’s better, but none offered the complete spectrum of features as well as Nord... and none performed as consistently speed wise either. Highly recommended!
Easy, complete and fast
by 341R on 2018/04/12 12:36
Completely satisfied. Hits all the tick marks you want in a VPN: No logging, offshore ownership (Panama), wide coverage with hundreds of servers, best encryption. All at a good price point. Top it off with beefed up servers available to handle streaming video (which you can choose to connect to if needed). Auto detects nearest and least loaded servers. Haven’t had to use support, but have used the knowledge base which was helpful in figuring out which servers to use for streaming. And that’s the one complaint I have. Had to find the list of servers, scan it for those used to stream, write the names down and then go back to the app to connect to one. There should be a option to filter for those servers in settings or on the fly while connecting.
Works like a charm on the user end
by Marituis on 2018/04/20 22:53
I have various devices that I am running NordVPN from and am very satisfied with the app/program. It wasn’t as hard for me to set up on each device. Initially I had cold feet about running NordVPN but the glowing reviews were right! Currently using my iPad Pro and have not noticed a difference in speed. I HAVE noticed that some web sites are not trusted sources or will readily pull up. That aspect has been interesting. Otherwise its been seamless. I’m not a big gamer or use the internet other than lots of browsing, emails and social media apps. Note* first time I was on Facebook, it didn’t “recognize” me so I had to go through some security questions. Was good with that because I knew Nord was doing its job.
Great app with a couple flaws
by SnowboarderXLE on 2019/10/17 09:06
Overall I still recommend NordVPN. The latest update is suppose to make your UI dark themed when you have your iPhone set to dark theme. This is not the case with this new update. But that’s not a reason to discontinue my services, just disappointing that it wasn’t tested before sending out the update. Almost questions if they allow anything else slip by i.e security and automatically reconnecting from dropped internet. But I routinely check for DNS leaks to IP location after each update to make sure. An so far I have not had any issues with those two. However it can be difficult to access some streaming companies from time to time. But that comes with the territory as streaming company’s constantly updating an are trying to keep VPN’s off their services. Like I said, overall I’ve enjoyed their service and will continue until I have reason not to.
Doesn't work at all in China - read again, works well now
by bfollowell on 2019/08/11 00:53
It works well to mask my surfing from home, but one of the main reasons I bought the service was to be able to surf freely when behind the great firewall of China when visiting our grandson. Unfortunately, I've tried every Nord server they have, and I can't connect to a single one from my tablet or my phone. For use in China, Nord is absolutely worthless. UPDATE: After working with NordVPN support, they told me to try using only obfuscated servers. These worked where normal Nord servers would never connect. I've changed my rating to a 4. If give them a 5 if there was some way to install on a router for use in China the way we can in the U.S., but I guess there's only so much you can do when dealing with that kind of repression and censorship.
Not a reliable option
by HLstl on 2019/04/03 22:34
I purchased a multi-year subscription, hoping Nord VPN would provide security when I’m on an open WiFi network or in another country, trying to access my online services. I have to admit it has NEVER worked when I felt it was needed. When I test it at home, it works fine. But when I’m in a coffee shop or airport, in the rare instances when it connects, I cannot access email or banking or any service. For over a year I’ve chatted, on and off, with the tech support to no successful outcome. Yesterday I found myself at a public library and, to get my Gmail, I had to turn off Nord VPN. That was after it took over five tries to connect with a Nord server. This is so frustrating. Tech support responds 24 hours later with the same highly technical suggestions they’ve sent over the past year - basically, turn off all Nord features. There’s has to be a better VPN solution.
Easy to use and great support
by Bbflgtx on 2019/01/26 05:29
I have tried several vpn services before choosing Nord. I don’t often write reviews, but my interactions with this company have been excellent and I feel the need to show my appreciation. After using this service for about a year I have discovered just how easily I can switch servers if the one I happen to be using reaches peak capacity or a certain app stops working well for whatever reason (sorry, but my lack of IT knowledge is insufficient to understand or explain well)with the server being used. With the “favorites” list switching is a breeze. Also, the few instances in which I needed to contact support were quickly resolved and handled very professionally. I highly recommend this app!
The best VPN for your money, with excellent tech support make sure my MacBooks run like clockwork
by JCgotHisGun on 2018/02/22 16:37
have been using NordVPN for over a year and, I have only had one small speed bump, which took less than 30 minutes to correct. I think most people, who have problems with Nord, don’t listen to the tech’s, trying to help, or aren’t properly doing the things asked of them, by the techs, on their end to correct their issues. Nord VPN has a few different options for your security. Anti-DDoS Dedicated IP Onion over VPN P2P VPN Each gives you a different option, depending on the where you want to secure your IP, and prevent attacks on your end possibly. Anti-DDOS : Helps to prevent DDOS attacks, You know those floods, that overwhelm your IP and close it down. How you’ve seen website shut down, is mainly done by DDOS. Dedicated IP Helps those, who need to have a dedicated IP for incoming and outgoing network activity, for games, and to stream content from countries, you normally aren’t allowed to stream content from. Onion over IP: First Nord Encrypt’s your data, and then sends it over a well known TOR network, good luck tracing that! 😏 P2P: Allows you to share your files, with peers on encrypted networ
Disconnects all the time, but nice when it works...
by zkw12321 on 2019/01/17 03:54
I use Nord VPN on my computers and have no issues with it there. Always a reliable, strong, and fast connection. However, I’ve been trying to use the app for almost a month on my iPhone 6 (on the latest iOS) and basically I’ll open it to connect (happens on any WiFi network or LTE) and without me doing anything I’ll lose the VPN connection after about 20 minutes, give or take. Sometimes it’ll stay connected for a couple of hours but I don’t think I’ve made it any longer than that. More annoying, there isn’t any sort of setting for it to automatically reconnect once it disconnects you. I have to manually go back in to the app and re-connect once I realize the connection has randomly dropped. I subscribed for NordVPN primarily for computer usage and was interested in the iPhone app but this thing really isn’t very good.
Great App & Service, Minor Issues
by theRealDSW on 2019/09/06 16:02
I love this service and have it integrated into all my devices. Only thing that really pains me is for some reason the app will log me out, perhaps when it performs updates? I don’t find out until I occasionally notice the VPN symbol missing when I’m on public WiFi. It’s only when I open the app that I realize I’m browsing public WiFi unprotected... there needs to be some sort of backup, maybe an email that lets me know I’m browsing public internet with no VPN. Please consider fixing this as I have the app set to automatically connect to unrecognized WiFi access points. Aside from that, this has been the best VPN service I’ve used to date and I’d highly recommend it to anyone!
So Far, So Good...Mostly
by Recynd on 2019/09/13 17:01
I’ve used several other VPNs in the past, but they all seemed to slow my connection speed considerably. Not so with NordVPN. My connection is as fast as ever, so I don’t notice it running. I also like that I can choose domestic or international routing. NordVPN is easy to set up, easy to use, and doesn’t get in my way. The only issue I have (which may be endemic to all VPNs) is that I can’t access certain sites: I get a “Safari cannot open the page because it could not access the server” message. However, when I shut off my VPN, voila! I can access it. So there’s that. On the other hand, do I really want to access sites that insist on being able to track me? (Sadly, yes.) In any case, that’s the only issue I’ve run across while using the app so far.
Around The World With NordVPN
by The DreaMaster on 2019/11/22 23:24
I am an avid gamer and I like what a good VPN such as Nord brings to the table. The reason I titled this review around the world with Nord is just that! Having a good reliable VPN allows you to play the game of your choice with people from around the world in different time zones. Now, I know a VPN can shield you from unwanted advertisers and junk mail etc. But, I wanted to say something good for a change. If you like watching movies or TV shows on your streaming device of your choice, you can enjoy a much better experience with a good VPN such as Nord. They have a lot of VPNs out there to choose from, but if I had to recommend one I would recommend NordVPN for pricing and ease of use! Thanks Nord for a job well done!
Slow speeds, inconsistent & Bad billing
by emeraldcitystyle on 2019/01/31 15:40
This vpn supposedly received positive reviews so i signed up (trusting a paid vpn was better & this one got good feedback). The speeds while using were intermittent and mostly terribly slow with continual disconnection requiring login x2 each time making everyday use a pain & time consuming. Using on mobile made most applications unusable and again caused more problems, slowdowns and glitches so a pain to use. Automatic billing continued to charge my card after i tried to cancel and contact company with no response. Took 8 months to finally end it (was billed monthly). Ended up paying paying more than if bought yearly plan and overall very dissatisfied with everything. Don't trust the reviews as many are mostly fake or paid to increase reputation. This is a crappy product better to use one that works (especially if paying for it)!! Found a new one that actually works and coat is better!
Terrible service abroad
by dm neko on 2019/02/26 02:02
I purchased NordVPN, it’s ok in the USA, albeit the interface is clumsy. But I wanted a vpn as I was spending considerable time in China. It never worked, not two days after being in China, I tried to use it and it was blocked. Unbelievable! The customer service was nightmarish, just looping the same lame excuses. Before that, in the USA, I had to spend 4 hours setting up an obsfucated Server with their rude customer service. I never got my money back, never got resolution. So I switched to express vpn. They are amazing! Expensive, but worth every penny. I can connect anytime in China, my internet speeds don't slow to a crawl (other than the fact that Chinas internet speed is pathetic ) it’s much more user friendly than NordVPN, you simply choose obsfucated server. Or, they have a list of servers to us for China. they frequently update and so now I easily circumvent the great firewall in China and have access to whatever I need. NordVPN is utterly worthless abroad.
Prepare to wait
by adamonboart on 2017/09/11 12:54
Wow, I've been a Nord VPN customer for over a year, and the connections used to be easy and quick. They've added hundreds of servers since then (now numbering in the 800s in the US), but connectivity is slower than ever. Read the other reviews, and I'm having the same problems. I unlock my phone to check email or lookup something, and the sit 45 seconds while it tries to reestablish the VPN. If I'm on LTE instead of wifi, it's a little faster (25-30 seconds). Siri is impossible to use because it requires an internet connection to recognize your voice. I'll say "Hey Siri," and it'll make the beep sound, listen, and then sit for 20 seconds until it somehow gets around the kill switch and recognizes my words. Also realized my Apple Watch connects to wifi independently of the phone, and it doesn't have VPN, so all my notifications, texts, and emails are insecure already!
It’s a shame
by Brian Xing on 2019/04/14 18:52
It could be great with the deal which was provided on their website. I purchased a 3-year plan basically without thinking about it. Then I realized that this vpn doesn’t work in China (for iPhone) at all. I had sent emails to the support team asked for refund, however, every time they will give you a solution and it would work for couple of days. (Some specific areas happens to work for a short time and eventually they would be shown “offline”) So I have had enough when last time that happened and then I ask refund again. Guess what? They emailed me back with a negative attitude and rejected my request because of “30-day policy”. Nice try nordvpn. It happens that I do know a bunch of people who are looking for a VPN app over here. Not only will you lose those potential clients, but also I’ll use every way I can to let people here know what’s gonna happen when you decide to make a purchase with nordvpn. : )
Troublesome
by [Hand Shake] on 2018/12/21 02:19
Admittedly, I only used NordVPN for a short time and I didn’t work with support to fix the problems. My stance is that there shouldn’t have been any problems. You may feel more patient & generous. First I had trouble just signing up. I submitted a request for a password confirmation 5 times. No email ever arrived. Not in spam folder or junk or any other folder. I emailed to customer support. They fixed the problem and within 24 hours I was in. That’s 23 hours, 45 minutes too long. OK, now I’m excited to use it. Connecting... connecting... connecting... Connected. Whew. OK. I’m surfing, put my iPad down for a few minutes - no connection. Connecting... connecting... connecting... Time for a refund. You have to chat with Support to get a refund. They asked a bunch of troubleshooting questions. I said I didn’t want to fix the problems, I want a refund. They said OK, I should have a refund in 2-3 days. If so, I’ll consider myself fortunate.

by Shaniqua the bra on 2019/12/13 06:22
If I were to get this the paid version would I be able to be worry free on a windows laptop I’m afraid of actually buying and being on my laptop longer than an hour I keep thinking I’m going to have to the format it if I get a virus 🦠 or something so would the VPN keep me safe from that or is this just a security from getting hacked and whatnot

Well planned.

by Kurtis C Flynn on 2019/12/10 14:50

Top Notch
by Rjbt1983 on 2019/12/09 20:54
I have been using another top rated VPN for almost 2 years, and was happy with it, but it could not provide the level of security that NordVPN does (due to federal regulations, without substantial cost increase. It’s all about log files). I was very happy from the get go with NordVPN. Nord was noticeably faster and did a better job of blocking unwanted ads, etc. I’m very happy with the switch to NordVPN
iPhones Could Not Connect To Internet
by tandsugr on 2019/12/09 20:22

by EasyBreezy1015 on 2019/12/09 20:06
Never had a problem with Nord VPN as I’ve been using it for the last couple years with no issues.

No response in my inbox or spam.

by dkxkee on 2019/12/08 15:17
When I wrote a one-star review back in October, Nord contacted me with several suggestions of possible remedies. I may as well have lit six twenty-dollar bills on fire.

by Spotify user2015 on 2019/12/08 09:19
First day in using NordVPN.

No thanks.

Buyer beware.

by Sumo opine on 2019/12/05 00:11
While long ago the service used to work flawlessly and seamlessly where you could turn it on and forget it was there, quietly protecting you in the background, it is no longer so.

Fix this!

VPN service
by Chemainus57 on 2019/12/02 22:46
Whenever there’s an occasion to stack the odds against invasion of privacy and the necessity to have uninanimity the use of VPN gives one the protection and observation that the unit that carries the signal for service shows that it is randomly unablbor intentionally in another city state or country.

by piavpnbetteronios on 2019/12/02 13:03
App loads slowly then I get repeated false psitive connections where initially says it’s connected but then absolutely nothing works and you have to go back to the slow loading app to find out it it’s in an endless “connecting” loop.
We have family, friends and jobs who we would like to communicate with and you have made it very miserable for us to do so.

by kmdangerous on 2019/12/02 04:36
I understand that with VPN service, you typically experience some decrease in speed/bandwidth.

Scammers
by SCAM VPN DO NOT USE on 2019/12/01 13:35
If I could give this review 0/5 stars I would.

Wow read what folks say is true rude customer support
by GnnBroadcasting on 2018/12/31 21:11
Ok now told only customers have chat mode, as I am on 3 year plan due to family and friends also have is why I got it as well.

Works like a charm on the user end
