It’s early, but so far so good. Works as hoped.
Use it for security.

Me and family have had our identity stolen about a handful of times, so getting a VPN is now a must. We have seen NordVPN advertisements, and great reviews online so we decided to give it a try. So far so good.
Brilliant!

The best paid VPN I’ve ever used. Secure and I can watch all the shows from other countries’ Netflix. Muhahaha!
I disconnect just to get things done...
by Islandberg on 2021/01/14 21:50
I spent a lot of time researching a VPN. I came across a deal to save some money and decided to try it. I find the VPN conflicting with just about everything. None of my streaming services work on it, nor does my banking app or even the internet. It really defeats the purpose of a VPN if I find myself disconnecting it every time I use a device. I was excited to have all three devices connected but I can say right now, none of them are because nothing loads when it’s connected. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong, but so far... it’s not worth the money because it interrupts everything I need to do. I wanted the additional protection but I get really frustrated when things don’t load or I’m asked over and over again on Google to prove I’m not a robot.

Needs to be better
by imelliam on 2021/01/14 19:30
NordVPN offers tons of servers which is why I like it. But for such a big name I have issues with the app across every platform. On iOS is randomly logs me out and randomly disconnects when I reopen the app leading me to wonder why my connection was not properly secured. NordVPN needs to fix its apps on all platforms I’ve used.

The services provided are everything you’d want to have by your side in today’s fast paced world that seems to change everyday. NordVPN not only keeps up with the times but while we’re not always there to see what goes on, NordVPN is and a lot of the times they’re already one step ahead to protect you and your privacy. I strongly encourage any new users to try out any of the services offered so you can see for yourself before or after you choose to go elsewhere. It is easy on the wallet too especially for the protection you’re getting whether you like a little more privacy for whatever reason or you’re just being responsible here on the World Wide Web. Thanks NordVPN.

Support Desk Will Not Assist
by lobind on 2021/01/13 18:23
Per the developer’s request I’m adding the Ticket ID(s) - there’s more than one because the support team changed it for some reason. I want to stress that this IS my account and It seems there should be more than one way to prove that. I have a three year history with you which, it seems, should enable you to verify what your support desk is trying to confirm. Also, the fact that there seems to be no way to escalate is a problem. Ticket IDs are 7393180 and 7304218. I would appreciate it if you could help me resolve this. ************************************ I’ve had NordVPN for three years and had been happy with both the VPN and the support offered. Something has changed though and I am stuck with an utterly unhelpful support team, no resolution, no way to escalate, and, no VPN on my phone. Today I searched for a way to escalate my issue (cannot log in on my phone) because, basically, support just keeps telling me the same thing over and over even though there is something wrong with their information. There have been more than ten back-and-forth emails with no progress. And they just ignore my request for escalation. This is the second time in two months I’ve had this kind of around-in-circles-with-no-resolution exchange with support after three years of very good service. The VPN is good but if you need service/support that concerns anything more than then cutting and pasting a reply, good luck. Something has changed making a once five star service drop to one star.

Marketing Notifications
by Dani_EG on 2021/01/13 14:00
Sends pointless marketing notifications instead of exclusively notifications about my connection. Doesn't have a way to change that. You can turn off all notifications, but then you miss out on ones you may need, like your connection dropping or reconnecting. You're already paying for this, and you still get ads. Developer's response missed the mark. Most legitimate apps that have spam-like notifications, like Twitter's suggested tweets, have a way to turn off only the marketing and engagement notifications, leaving important ones active. NordVPN does not do this. Why does a product I already bought need to advertise to me?

Always interfering with browsers!
by Vets_Husband_&_Wife on 2021/01/13 03:43
We are so bummed! We got a great deal on a three year package. But Nord VPN won’t stay on for us! We’ve constantly sent in requests for help, with replies that were delayed and didn’t seem to address our problems at all! Now with our new Iphone 12’s it’s interfering with functionality. We can’t find a way to DELETE Nord VPN!!! No where will it fully delete! If we delete it off our Screen, it keeps coming on in our Apps! Nord VPN, give us guidance here please! 🙏🏼

VPN is alright, app is garbage
by Gsjbdifibdjdq479999432 on 2021/01/13 02:42
I’ve had Nord for a while and have been in contact with support about issues and they never resolve it. The app is so poorly made. It is unreliable in many ways. Once you’re connected, if it stays connected, then it is usually fine. I’ve left reviews before and always been asked to contact support. That never helps so I won’t be doing so again and will be using an alternative once my subscription is up. The company has responded to the above review asking for the ticket id from when I contacted support. There were at least a few times I contacted them but I do not have the ids anymore. Honestly, any potential customers of Nord vpn will likely not see this as there are many reviews of the app but if you do just make sure you do your research. I was going back and forth between Nord and a few others but got a really good deal on Nord (I know they are always having “sales” but this was better than I’d seen and it drew me in). I regret the decision. However, I am one user and while there are plenty of other very low reviews for Nord, there are also good reviews. My experience with Nord and their support has been enough to obliterate any possibility that I ever give them another dime.

Horrible Service
by B&S Shared on 2021/01/12 14:55
The product works well but you I hope you never have to ask for help. It becomes a help desk email chain that carries the conversation every 12 hours or so. They need a chat function or phone option.

All good except primevideo which works with express vpn
by vellabanda on 2021/01/12 07:42
Everything is awesome. So good I chose this over the express VPN. The only problem with Nord is that Amazon prime video detects it which doesn’t happen with 2 other paid vpn services I have tried including express vpn.
DUMB
by User109879 on 2021/01/12 00:21

No, I don’t want to change my password
by Anon23232 on 2021/01/12 00:18
To be fair, this irritating prompt appears on all of their apps, not just on the iOS app. But it’s annoying how it keeps harassing me about changing my password. Yeah, I probably should, not that anyone gives a crap about my account, and I should also exercise more, but I have a hardcore fetish for freedom, consequences be damned. So no, I am not interested in changing my password and you need to stop harassing me about it.

Hmmmm
by LRReviews@my on 2021/01/11 22:49
I understand that it terms of what this service is intended, it is great. However, I have found that interacting with any of my financial institutions (banking, credit card) is very difficult with NordVPN turned on. I have to turn off VPN in order to complete many transactions on-line. Not pleasant. Had I have known that , I would not have subscribed as I did.

Revised review: increasing shortcomings
by LSSR22 on 2021/01/11 21:08
Update: what in the world is going on with the continual, unexpected, and unpredictable termination of VPN connections that require logging onto the app again? This is getting maddening. Two starts dropped in the rating. Revisions below in brackets The app [seemed to] work, and it [while it] has many great features [those aren’t very helpful of you’re constantly losing a connection]. Yes, you do have to pay [and one would expect better performance because of that], but then the whole point of a VPN is to ensure privacy, so why would you sign up for a “free” service with the widely known fact that if it’s free you’re most definitely not the customer? [recent performance issues makes one wonder if the free route might not be as capable.] The shortcomings are the clunky and limited ability to specify individual servers. You can do it, but they don’t make it easy to tag one you want to reconnect to, and finding a specific server is very much a manual task. [And obviously the recent problems with losing connections and logged in status are a huge problem.] The reason specific servers are important is some apps will not work on any random server. You need to know which ones and then tap in that number. If you’re already on that sever you can’t tag it with a tap. You have to look up the sever number and then tap in that number. Clunky. I’ve written to them about it and they always respond, but they just point me to a web site with lists of servers. The app has a favorites list, but the only quick addition to that list is servers in New York, for example, of which there are dozens. Hardly the specific server number needed.
The app doesn’t work at all
by Ap07290 on 2021/01/11 17:55
I downloaded this app because I heard that by connecting to a server in another country, it would allow me to see movies and shows restricted in America. However the app wouldn’t even let me connect to their servers in the U.S., it would just say I was connected on the app and that it was assigning an IP, then proceed to spend as long as I can spend watching it trying to assign one. And I know for a fact that it isn’t connected to the VPN because my phone settings show that I’m not UPDATE: While I didn’t care enough about getting a vpn to try and figure it out the next morning, I did get in touch with the support team and they were extremely cooperative, giving a full refund and cancelling my membership. Can’t attest to the app’s functionality but they operate in a very smooth and ethical way

Not showing promise today — Now Confused
by Kgpnative on 2021/01/11 13:51
Today I am only able to get 10% of my download speed without VPN. Not good. Getting 110% of upload speed. Why? FOLLOW ON NOTE: It seems there is a difference between speed test using “Speakeasy.net” (Fusion Connect) and the Verizon Speedtest methods when using NORD VPN. Any idea why? FYI, with Soeakeasy I got about 75/80 Mbps, and Verizon around 10/80 Mbps (Download/Upload) with NORD VPN. What is the true speed?

this app works great, butttttt... i have issues connecting to different countries such as italy. i’m a newbie to VPNs so i have no idea what am i doing wrong. I have restarted my phone, restarted my vpn, tried using the VPNs in different locations, tried using only my cellular data and then switching to my wifi. The close to connected i get is “connected” but when i check my ip address, it is still my own IP address.
Terrible app
by NikaClark on 2021/01/10 21:15
I have added USA as favorite region and it still connects to regions randomly, terribly made app, service is fine, but app is totally useless. Canceling subscription. Even auto reconnect does same dumb thing, I’m connected to USA and somehow if connection is lost it randomly selects country... why???????????? If I want to connect USA or whatever country I chose and I had in favorites I want to reconnect with same country every time.
Works great!!
by Detomamd on 2021/01/10 20:45
Best VPN I have tried yet. Works without issues, without affecting speed, and it has never crashed. That was NOT my experience with other major VPN providers. NordVPN does what it’s supposed to do and it does it very well. I have it installed on laptop desktop Mac OS and Windows. The price point is excellent, but the best part is now robust the software is. Now I no longer have to worry that the VPN might have not loaded correctly on boot, or that at times my internet speed would plummet. I Highly recommend NordVPN
Logouts
by otterman on 2021/01/10 20:29
1-10-21: Still having to frequently log in after the service quietly logs me out. On my Mac, after connecting successfully there’s no indication it logged me out, even with auto-connect enabled. How about just stopping the connection when we’re logged out? I thought that was the way it’s supposed to work. Remind me why I am paying for this “service.” —- As often as this app fails to “auto-connect” and logs me out, I may as well not even have a VPN. —- I find myself turning this service OFF more and more because it too-frequently stops my internet connection. At first I thought it was my internet, but as soon as I turn off Nord it works fine again. Security by failure to connect is not really security. Unfortunately I paid for this through 2022. May just eat the remaining cost and look for an alternative because I’m getting really tired of this. Also getting tired of having it set to Auto-Connect, only to find it not connected with my internet otherwise working. Original review: I REALLY wish I didn't get logged out so frequently. Otherwise, pretty good VPN, if a bit spotty with connections.
Don’t buy this service!!!
by Chris in Dallas on 2021/01/10 18:23
Do not use this App! I paid for a year of service and then it charged me again only a few months later. Apple and Nord both made it too difficult to get help. Once they get your money you will get screwed!
Great service and inexpensive
by Tango teen on 2021/01/10 17:04
For what Nord offers to the consumer fir the price they do this is the best vpn on the market. Their are others that are cheaper that don’t offer as many options and only one that has more options but the price is 300% more that Nords price. So for the best bang for your buck stick with NordVPN.

Best to find another service
by Ishak89 on 2021/01/09 20:54
As far as VPN’s go this is average and will do the job. However, the biggest and most annoying flaw is that the connection will disconnect by itself for absolutely no reason. I would be sitting at home, phone next to me, WiFi connection up and running but NordVPN would keep disconnecting and reconnecting. It is not doing the very thing it’s designed for, and this isn’t a new issue I have asked colleagues who previously had NordVPN, and they have confirmed the issue. So to summarize, it’s best that you find a better service that does what it’s built to do.

Nord app for iOS nonfunctional: Login screen now unavailable for 17 days
by pjsincalab on 2021/01/09 17:20
Nord app logged me out 17 days ago. Trying to log back in with Nord’s iOS app is impossible as it returns a blank white screen with no input fields. Deleting and reinstalling the app results in the same behavior; a blank login screen. Resetting network and renewing lease results in no change. Changing password at Nord website has no effect. Nord inaccessible for 17 days. Nord says to contact their “24/7” support team...I have waited many hours over the past several days for a human at Nord to engage in a chat session. There is no 24/7 support. Support is consistently unavailable except by email in duplex mode with 24 hour turn-around time. Email support is amounts to clueless first-level questions read from a book like: “have you tried reinstalling app?” or “have you tried resetting your network connection?” or “have you tried renewing your network lease?” Nord support appear to be completely clueless. Did I mention I have been unable to login for 17 days? 17 days that for which I have have already paid. 17 days without service. Finally, installed Proton VPN...so far no drops or unexpected logouts and best of all, IT’S FREE! IN MY EXPERIENCE, NORD VPN IS UNRELIABLE, UNREACHABLE, AND UNUSABLE.

Could Not Get My Account to Activate
by Jrmarketing on 2021/01/09 14:25
As soon as my credit card was charged, I was sent a link to my email account to activate my account. The link did not work. When I clicked on the link it keep spinning and spinning, or would say bad request. I turned my phone off and then back on. Clicked on the link then it took me to the activation website. I put in my email and new password to create my account. Again it keep spinning and spinning and eventually the link didn’t work again. I requested a refund today. I won’t be using this service...

Fed up with constant bugs
by JohnGVH on 2021/01/09 04:46
Clearly no one tests this product. Every single release there are bug and regressions. Over the past two years a bug is fixed in one release and then will reappear (often worse) two releases later. This latest release auto connects to the wrong country and keeps flipping back even after I change it. Plug in a charger into the phone and VPN disconnects and often the Autoconnect with VPN setting is lost. Such a simple app should not be filled with so many bugs. Oh, and the software engineers clearly do not know how to use the correct Windows API to start the app minimized in the notification bar. They start up UI, hide the UI, minimize to task bar and then hide that UI. And now randomly disconnects from one default country and connects to the wrong country without you knowing!! Brilliant. Exactly why you buy a VPN app. And response from support is the equivalent of “switch it off and switch it on again!”
Never worked

I could get to servers in the UK, but never onto any of the sites to watch the shows I was interested in. A total bust.
¡Nefasto!
by Francisa Robbinson Gutierrez on 2021/01/09 03:08
Horrible. 👎
Love that I can put it on a timed pause!

Effective, clean, secure
by aqua_albatross on 2020/07/01 07:15
I spent a lot of time researching what the BEST VPN for me would be. NordVPN came out in the lead for many reasons, but the big one was that the user interface is very clean and it doesn’t require advanced tech knowledge to understand how to set it up. I also have had great experience with using the help function / chat on the website. The major benefit for me as well was that it has a vast repository of “how to” / FAQ / What is.... etc. so I didn’t feel like I was out of my depth or intimidated because it was explained clearly and if you wanted to know more technical bits, then you can do that too. I think it just was really refreshing to have the service AND the product AND the quality all perform at such high levels consistently. So if you are looking for a VPN for security, for personal reasons, for watching your favorite shows abroad, or for anything really... Go with NordVPN because you won’t be disappointed.
APP TRIAL IS A SCAM
by NordvpnSCAM on 2020/11/22 13:38
I trialed this app for a day and decided to cancel. You are instructed to login to NordVPN to cancel subscription. App Store doesn’t let you cancel the subscription when it hasn’t been activated (during trial). NordVPN login page takes to an insecure site on every browser so I was unable to login. This was in May, and we are now in November same issue. I believe this is a deliberate setup so you cannot cancel. On May 18 I emailed NordVPN support to inform them I want to cancel, and deleted app in App Store. NordVPN didn’t not reply. On May 31st App Store charged me NordVPN annual subscription fee and I did not receive any notification of this fee. I didn’t realize until November and raised a refund request to App Store to be informed by their robot this doesn’t qualify for a refund (presumably because eit was requested outside of 30 days). I contacted NordVPN support and provided to request a refund but got the runaround. They state I have to go to App Store for refund and insisted they replied to my email on May 18th (they did not). I left thinking that this was a scripted response to a scam setup designed to fleece trialists out of $91. They must be aware that the App Store policy is flawed and run by robots and they can get away with this fraud and App Store won’t penalize them. If you happen to trial this service make sure you request apple refund within 30 days of the fee being sneakily added to your account or you will be left in the same boat
Great Service
by CCguru on 2018/05/24 14:34
I find NordVPN a great service. I researched long and hard to see if there were any definite winners, and there were not. I think the biggest problem is potential conflicts of interest with the various reviewers. Still NordVPN seemed to come out at or near the top in most of the reviews, so with that I decided to give them a try. This is my first try at a VPN service, as such, so I am far from an expert in his area. I was looking for basically three things 1)ease of use, 2) security , and 3) speed. With NVPN I have been very pleased with all three, but there is a little room for improvement. This could easily be a stellar 5 Star service if they tweaked their client apps a bit. I have a 60 Mbps Internet service. My normal worst case is to drop to 20 Mbps. This sounds terrible, but it is not as bad as it sounds IMO. By switching to a different lightly loaded server, however, my speed only drops to around 55-58 Mbps which is basically imperceptible. Some of NVPN’s client apps make it easy to locate and select a nearby lightly loaded server and others don’t. It is important to seek out a good server if you are getting a real performance hit, so if NVPN would build this manual capability into their clients, through filtering etc, they would be exceptional and definitely 5 Star.
Really inconvenient to use and interfere with computer function
by shiliuruitian on 2020/11/21 15:20
I bought this vpn service a while ago but didn’t star use it till a month later and figured out it wouldn’t work for Asia countries: the internet was super slow to an unusable extent I asked for a refund they give me a firm no telling me that it passed 30 days. They walked me through a whole long complicated process to fix the connecting problem with Asia websites and then the next month when I try to use me computer to connect to my university library it just wouldn’t work and the reason is all the weird settings they have me done with my computer to get NordVPN to work. I just cannot tolerate the hassle anymore and they won’t give you refund anyway. The plan is for 3 years so basically you paid for 3 yrs for 0 services. Beware before you pay it doesn’t work well it may disrupt with normal functioning of your computer. The support team replied, but be ware they never solve your problem, neither will they provide you a solution. It’s always take longer to “babysit” the vpn than really using it. As mentioned in lots lots of reviews I saw, mostly of the time you paid for 3 yrs of zero service. No one has the time to trouble shoot for 1 he every time they want to use VPN. I only use it a few times a month and already spend most of the time trouble shooting, need my money back but couldn’t get it back.
Drops and Slowly Plods Along
by ErikDPhillips on 2020/06/10 06:23
I’m beginning to believe that NordVPN sets up first time users on a great speedy and stable server while in the introductory trial period and the moment the free user flips to being a paid customer...Alacazam! The carpet quickly gets yanked out from under us and we’re dumped into Slow Server and Dropping Disconnect Land. I mean... when I was using a trial membership, I remember connecting to a server that was located right here in my own home city of San Antonio. Not long after I remember purchasing into your agreement I noticed that San Antonio server was no longer available and for some reason I now always get put into Denver’s or Miami’s servers which are not fast, not stable and not convenient. I’ve got to go read the contract to see if I can cancel my membership long before the two-year subscription has been resolved. Also, whoever is the person that comments on every rating and/or issue...Please! Get a new script! You say the exact same thing to everyone’s problems. Once in a while when you suggest someone switch between protocols (tcp, etc.) I really really don’t feel confident that you know what it is you’re suggesting or why. No support person for an important system like a VPN should EVER say “it SEEMS to help some of our customers”...! I don’t want what SEEMS to work...I want to feel confident that you guys KNOW what the problems are and more importantly...what the actual fix is.
Frustrating slow.
by Digital Ivy on 2019/07/28 14:47
I paid for a 1 year subscription and use this app on my XS and on my PC. I use the option to let the app to choose the closest server. Nord VPN lags my apps on my phone, which is extremely annoying when using my phone for shopping in town. I often have had to wait for more than a minute for coupon apps to load and specific store apps to load content now. Some apps became so slow they wouldn’t load content at all making them useless. While aware that VPN slows connectivity slightly due to encryption, this is the first one I’ve used that creates such an issues that that I notice a huge difference. On two different occasions I’ve had to reinstall because for some reason Nord disconnected, the app and my phone won’t store my password for the app, which wouldn’t matter anyway because when I enter the password in, the app tried to log on then logs off, as if the password is wrong. I check several times, the pass isn’t wrong. Uninstalling and reinstalling immediately fixes this. For the most part I have no issues on my PC with this program. Every now and then it will disconnect and then just not reconnect again, leaving me offline all night. This isn’t something I have experienced prior to using this on my PC.

Was Great but Terrible Lately
by Neon Ramen on 2020/01/28 15:23
I’ve had my NordVPN since June and it has been great. Had no issues with it and I was very happy. Now all of a sudden over the last few weeks, the app has become absolute trash. Often takes forever to connect, forces me to close out of the app and reopen it, forces me to delete the app and reinstall numerous times just to be able to sign in. A new thing developed over the last few weeks too is it likes to sign me out of my account and then tell me my info is wrong. It won’t connect to a server, I go to the app and realize it’s because it randomly signed me out. I try to login with my credentials and it tells me it’s wrong. I’m able to sign in on the website with my credentials just fine. I delete the app and try again and still won’t work. Usually have to delete it a handful of times and wait an hour or so and then will let me sign back in with the same credentials I have been trying for the past hour. Not sure what they have done with the app over the last month or so, but it’s seriously trashed the functionality and ease of use. Getting pretty frustrated when I need to use my VPN daily at work and I have to sit here for an hour jerking around with the app because it won’t take my credentials.
Why?
by D.contreras456 on 2020/05/11 12:10
Why is NordVPN consistently making itself a nuisance when it comes to my connection. Am I supposed to babysit my VPN 24/7 to make sure it’s behaving appropriately while I’m “browsing care-free”? It worked fine when I first signed up now I find myself trying to get the thing to work more often than I’m actually browsing anything. This also comes off nearly a month where opening the app would just make it crash on the loadup screen 80% of the time. Edit: look I get it you’re trying the whole troubleshooting thing, fantastic, I applaud you. Those are all things I’ve googled and tried already. And it becomes inherently obvious since I manually update my apps when the problems begin. The updates need some quality control. It’d be one thing if my phone was obscenely old or something but it’s not. And things were running fine until the slew of bad updates. Even right this minute things are seemingly fine with it, but the issues have been rampant in the last few updates and I’m usually just counting the minutes til I see that I have no connection or one of my apps takes an eternity to load up and I have to go reset it, and get randomly signed out of NordVPN and have to go through all that again as I do on a sometimes weekly, sometimes daily basis.
When it works, it’s a great service
by WongD on 2020/07/08 16:45
I’ve been using NordVPN for almost a week. The VPN provides great, fast internet connection that has almost no impact on latency or speed of any kind, from web-browsing to streaming to even playing video games. I love that one account allows me to use it for 6 devices, so I have one for my iPhone, one for my laptop and one for my PC. Again, no latency issues or speed impacts when I play Modern Warfare or some of my mobile games. So why 3*? That’s where I become annoyed with the inconsistency of the VPN connection. So it works great when it works, but for whatever reason when the connection to their servers suddenly stop, the whole crashes. From time to time on MW, I can see it rubbernecked and I’ll start teleporting several feet from my position. On my iPhone suddenly I get drops in connection, and my whole WiFi stops working. I have to turn off then turn on my WiFi on the phone to get it working again. I also noticed that if you stop using your iPhone and leave it on idle, when you wake it up/use it again, the VPN shuts off and has to turn back on again. It’s very inconsistent when VPN stays on.
Do NOT BUY IT!
by Ttacmz on 2017/11/04 15:45
I bought Nord for my Mac Pro. It worked fine the first day. For whatever reason the second day I got to spend four hours on chat with their tech specialist downloading other files so that I could actually work on the Mac. It worked for about two days and then certain website start dropping off you couldn't get them. Then the second week it started cycling on and off we couldn't connect to any servers. The real problem is you have to have a VPN to contact their service tech so I have an app and a continual loop of emails. He finally gave me a way to talk to the technician the technician is all of about 10. How the technician will do for you is have you flip switches on and off uninstall and reinstall the program I've now been on with them for another hour and a half. Still nothing works and I don't want to refund my money because I've been working with them for almost 3 weeks now, which means that I've gone over the 30 day moneyback portion of their agreement. I've told them that they can keep their one-month that worked I'm willing to pay for that and they could refund the remainder. But they are insistent that I should stay with them and continue to waste my time or just let them keep the $100 I paid for a service that doesn't work.
Used to be good
by Lennon1300 on 2020/10/31 02:07
NordVPN was great a while back. I agree with other reviews, it seems like the trial period is streamlined only for you to get throttled afterwards. I constantly have to reset the VPN to make sure it’s on/working (about 60% of the time, it isn’t). And when it isn’t, you’ll probably notice as websites stop loading properly, apps refuse to update, WiFi connections get spotty. Don’t bother trying to use Twitter if your VPN has been active for more than ten minutes, there will be no images. And now with the newest update I can’t even open the app, invalidating even the lip service the service gives you. SO GLAD I signed up for a three year service. Edit: Look, the developer can say what they want in response here. I’ve gone through the proper troubleshooting steps to try to alleviate the problems. They persist across all my platforms. Connecting is slow, and I have to triple check it constantly. This service is the most heavily advertised for a reason. If you need a VPN quick and cheap, you can do worse than this. But there’s definitely better options that won’t be such a pain. I’ve changed my rating to two stars to not be so hyperbolic, but my initial thoughts still stand.
Consistent at being inconsistent
by Sciomar on 2020/05/02 02:27
If there’s one thing this app is good at, it’s being consistently inconsistent. I have to continuously monitor server connection as it drops quite frequently while I am browsing or checking the news. I’m currently overseas so it’d be great if the app would work on its own without the need for a babysitter. A few of my apps cannot work unless it shows me to be stateside, which adds to the frustration of using this VPN. Update: I’ve taken the developer suggestion of switching to TCP and it’s still randomly dropping me. It has also uninstalled its certificate on its own, twice. Another issue I have is the inability to force it to only use servers from a particular country, I’ve tried methods of both auto connection and manually forcing it to my country of choice, only to find it has connected or tried to connect to two other countries at some period of use. At this rate I’m looking forward to getting back home and deleting this app from my devices. It seems good, when it wants to work correctly, it’s just having the patience for it to arrive at that point in time.
I would suggest no...don’t use it
by Mdscd on 2020/01/17 05:08
I’ve got 2 years left on my paid subscription but it’s just too irritating to continue. I’ll take the loss. It used to work well. Then, a number of upgrades ago it went to hell. I keep upgrading hoping it will revert back to good. But it ain’t happening. Read the other comments. It’s not just me. One should not have to deal with customer service to have an app work. That means your app’s got issues. This one clearly has an issue with WiFi....and they know it. Go ahead and contact customer service...you’ll see. If you can’t connect shut off WiFi. Voila! Your on VPN. Now turn your WiFi back on. Voila! Your VPN disappears. Or maybe not. Sometimes this trick is what you have to do to reconnect. Who needs this BS? When you pick up your phone to access your email or the web or the App Store you don’t want to have to fiddle around for a few minutes to connect. The concept of a VPN is great. The execution of the service, at least in this case, just isn’t worth the hassle. When it works it’s great. When it doesn’t you’ll want to commit harikari. So ask yourself....do you feel lucky punk? Well....Do You????
Nothing but trouble
by Reggie IT Novice on 2019/01/10 01:28
After downloading the application, I got connected, but could do nothing else because neither the account or the heart icon appeared. I promptly wrote to customer support which replied slowly, providing canned responses indicating that they had not even read my emails. Even worse, most of my email reply messages were blocked, stating that the server was unable to relay messages. I tried every remedy I could find online, including delete that mail account. When I tried that, and restored the account, I found all the email in the outbox had disappeared completely . Suspecting that the Nord application might be the culprit, I tried to disconnect it in settings, but it immediately came back on spontaneously. Finally, I went to the application and successfully disconnected it on my my IPhone . I then went to the Outbox and tried to send an email I had written after the account had been restored, but the server had rejected it sending it to the Outbox. Success ! I have had no problem with the phone’s email since. Because I had the same problem with my IPad, I was about to disconnect when I was asked to write a review. This is it. I will now try to disconnect on my IPad . And demand a refund.
Absolute Crap
by Liz07 on 2020/12/22 21:32
I purchased a three year subscription 4 months ago. Up until a week ago, it was at least working, slow but working. Now it’s just stopped working completely. I have it installed on 5 Apple devices (2 iPhones, 2 Macs, and an iPad) and it just keeps kicking me out. It’s constantly dropping connection, will sign out if I pause connection, then it will take over an hour to let me login, IF IT LETS ME LOGIN. (Note: I’ve currently been trying to log in for the last two hours) Plus if it signs out of one device, it signs out in all of them. It repeatedly fails. Would also like to note that I bought this because I was moving out of the US, but the country I live is a country listed as one of the countries you can run a vpn through. Also Nord, don’t tell me to contact customer service or whatever other troubleshooting you’ve listed on all the other comments that are saying the same thing, I can’t even access the website because I can’t log in. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app, and still nothing. If this many people are saying the same thing, especially over the last couple weeks, maybe look at your last two updates and figure out what went wrong.
They just took away a lot of features and control
by zzz97 on 2020/10/18 22:02
Not happy about lost functionality. Stop telling me how to use the app. I want the bells and whistles not a “streamline.”That’s the point I would say that they have lost my trustworthiness and they are working against us to users and order to get our data. The reason I say this is they took away the Internet Killswitch. They took away auto connect which won’t connect it in tonight at all unless you are in the p.m. So no connected to the Internet and then they’ll connect you to the VPN maybe. Set a connecting you to the country you last requested, the connect you to a five eyes country first and then you have to re-select a different country. They’re just taking the axe to all the good features. And they will not let you connect to specific servers like before they choose the server that you get to connect to instead of the huge list we once got to have. I used to be able to find the fastest server myself or if I suspected that one, now I don’t get to have a choice. I have to change to completely different country if the Internet is slow or weird. They have been changing the terms of service also. So.....
Can’t maintain a connection
by $321$123$ on 2019/03/22 01:36
This seemed like a great idea and product and I believe at the heart of the matter it is but at least half the time when I start using my browser, nord is not connected even though I always have app running or disconnects in middle of session and I have to reconnect and keep trying different servers. Which is why I have kill switch turned on because otherwise you would be surfing and not know you no longer have protection of vpn. I have iPhone se. if you are using out of country server you will simply not get into lots of websites . And I can only speak to iPhone on this issue, your iPhone will sometimes report your location to sites even if you are on vpn. You may be able to turn something off in your settings to not allow that but I have not really tried. I bought NordVPN just to use it when I was using credit card or financial sites and for my kids to have on their phones for “weirdo” security and as long as you make sure it’s live before you start surfing I think you’d be good.
Needs improvements
by DavidPaul15 on 2020/05/16 00:19
Since about a week ago, give or take, my iPad no longer connects when I wake it from sleep. Used to be I could leave my iPad asleep for 2-3 days, and then wake it up, and the VPN was connected and working before I could try to open any app up. It was great. Now I have to constantly open the app, wait a few seconds for it to load up... hit ‘cancel’ because it’s just showing a spinning circle... and then hit quick connect. Pretty annoying. As for my phone, it’s pointless to even try to leave it turned on. Once you wake your phone, you can’t do anything that requires data for like 15-20 seconds. Pick up your phone, and then stare at it, and use your watch to wait 15-20 seconds. Longer than you think. Having to endure that dozens of times a day makes it completely pointless to even use. I also have the app downloaded on one of my streaming boxes for the TV, and it works great for that, thankfully. Would rate this 5-stars if it worked as flawlessly on my phone, or like it used to work on my iPad.
Not great for a day to day VPN.
by Blak225 on 2019/11/08 15:17
I have been using this for maybe 6 months now on my Mac and iPhone. From day one I’ve had frustrations on both platforms and they haven’t been fixed or made better at all. iPhone problems 1) email app (I’ve tried 3 different apps) will stop working and deleting app, restarting phone won’t work. Only way to get email sometimes is to killVPN connection. 2) worst problem, when you turn your phone on from a black screen and you’re connected to WiFi you can’t use the internet until you turn the WiFi connection on your phone off/on a few times and help your phone “realize” you’re on WiFi not LTE. My computer has had similar issues with the app from the iTunes Store as well as the VPN site. Most of the time I have to turn off the VPN completely just to get the internet to work. 🤦🏻‍♂️At this point it’s only useful for specific times when I don’t mind messing with it. Hard to understand how such basic user issues have not been met or addressed for 6 months I’ve used it.
Not Helpful for China/Confusing Tech Support
by QufuChina2019 on 2019/06/04 11:14
I bought a subscription to VPN before I moved to China because the online reviews were so good. I could connect without problems in the US, where having a VPN wasn’t essential, but as soon as I got to China, I had endless troubles. I was never once able to connect. Every couple of weeks, I give this VPN another earnest try, but then after a series of emails with their tech support and a few hours lost down the rabbit hole of their instructions that don’t work, I give up. Connecting shouldn’t be rocket science. I have two other VPNs, and I don’t need a coding certificate to use them. They have their problems—brought on by the Chinese government—but they always connect when the government here isn’t cracking down. Nord won’t connect in the sunniest of Chinese political climates. My one wish is that I hadn’t signed up for Nord in the first place. Now I read that I have to manually say no to renewal when the time comes. Hoo boy! Someone at Nord appears to be writing all of the positive reviews. My advice: stay far from this VPN. It will waste your time in the same way that a government that restricts its Internet traffic will.
Losing my mind!
by A.Deschenes on 2020/12/09 19:19
Nord loves locking up my computer! The software opens a window requesting a password or offering the option to cancel. Makes sense. However, it won’t accept my password pasted or typed, and it won’t allow me to select “cancel” either, both actions prompt and endless number of the same password request window in its place. Then, to an absolutely maddening point, it takes over everything else. I can’t use my browser, to say, log into my Nord account, run another program, or even launch task manager to force the program to close. Which means I have to shutdown my frozen computer blinking password prompts at me with my power button. I installed the program a couple of weeks ago, which was a pain as well, and this freezing business has happened several times since. I’m sick of dealing with it and canceling my subscription as soon as I’m done with this review. On a positive note, I have it installed on two cellphones - no issues whatsoever! Fires right up, every time, running silently in the background.
Peace of Mind
by theRealMickster on 2019/02/02 18:35
I’m not a paranoid person, but I also don’t want to get burned for being naive. I did a lot of studying before choosing a VPN, and NordVPN has been giving me peace of mind, especially when I’m utilizing free WiFi at a cafe or hardware store. People ask me, “You have unlimited data! Why do you even connect to those routers?” Typically, it’s because I need to utilize some feature they’ve built into their system (to get you more connected with them in another way). There are certain sites or apps that this will slow down. Its not a glitch. It’s actually revealing as to what those apps really do when it comes to tracking your location or monitoring public use. Sometimes, it does slow down because of some communication issue somewhere in data path, but I either just keep going until it speeds up again, or I disconnect from my WiFi and reconnect. Then, it goes back to normal.
Problems with my subscription and bad customer service
by gmpatterson on 2020/05/19 21:35
I’ve used this app before when traveling through China for work, but had some issues with the subscription and not being able to use the service after the 7 day free trial. I deleted the app, and just re-downloaded it onto a different device and had very similar problems with the subscription. I logged in, and was prompted to choose a subscription plan, with the advertisement that the first 7 days were on NordVPN. There was no drop down menu within the app, the only option was to choose the 1 year subscription. I didn’t think I would immediately be charged. When I realized I’d been charged I cancelled my subscription and submitted a customer support. I was then sent an email with a ticket but when I clicked the link for the ticket, it took me to a page that could not be found. Overall, I’ve had a very frustrating experience using NordVPN and trying to choose a subscription/ attempting to use their service after the 7 day trial and purchasing a subscription. Their customer service has also left much to be desired.
Great VPN!!
by SlateCoal on 2017/12/16 12:26
Have been using Nord VPN for about a week. It’s my 5th VPN and so far, LOVE IT!! Customer support is excellent, fast to respond and go above and beyond, to assist. My cell is hacked & I needed a good VPN, to do anything on my cell. The hackers already broke through multiple VPN’s. Nord stopped a Hacker already and was the 1st VPN to do that. If I could double the stars given, I would. A great VPN, excellent support, can be used on multiple devices. Catches & stops Hackers. What more could you ask for? Very happy with my purchase. Plus, it has plenty of countries to choose from, numerous places to connect. Also gives you the load and the distance. I normally don’t write reviews but did this time in case someone is looking for a good VPN. I have an iPhone that is not supposed to be able to be hacked, but it is. If anyone else is concerned about privacy or being hacked, check Nord out. They even send very useful, tips. So far, I love this VPN!!! A++++++++++++
Nord VPN
by Dr Eslambolchi on 2020/02/17 17:33
This is by far the worst VPN I have ever used and their technical support will get D minues. Totally clueless. Try Express VPN which works like a charm and shame on Nord and Apple allowing this app to even make it to App Store. Had anyone write such a bad SW I swear I would have fired them in less than 5 min. Please do not waste time on this useless VPN. If I was at ATT as head of the company which I was, I swear I would have fired everyone of the people on the technical support. They would get F minus from me and wasted over 3 hours if my time debugging and he was not able to fix and made it even worse. It is truly a shameful feedback. Other VPNs working far better with great customer support. If the Nord VPN was working then I had no problem but since the day I installed and paid the software gave me problems which I asked AMEX to dispute the charge and not practical to pay for a product it simply does not work and I doubt they k is how to scale it any way. Anything else I add would be more embarrassing fir the company. This App should have never been approved to be on powerful App Store. Refund was only option o had after they wasted over 3hours of my valuable time
Excellent Updates
by Poiujfret on 2019/05/03 02:03
When I purchased my NordVPN subscription it was mainly for my PCs, so the phone app was a nice extra that I would occasionally use. Initially it was almost more trouble than it was worth, however over the past few months the devs have pushed a significant number of patches for the mobile app. These patches have improved performance, added features, and just overall really improved the experience. I don’t generally write reviews, but the devs definitely deserve praise for this one. Initially I would have given it 3 stars - not great but not bad, a useful app that had problems. After all of the changes, easy 5 stars. I do wish it was more clear what is being used for DNS. I have adjusted the DNS settings on my phone, while connected does Nord inherit those, or simply connect to their DNS? That’s my only very minor gripe, keep up the excellent work!
Overall Good
by DW65 on 2018/08/02 16:22
****update****.....I signed out, deleted the app, restarted the phone, and re-downloaded and signed back in. Cities and correct distance are now working. While I’m glad it worked...this step should not have been necessary to get it working properly. FYI Im running iOS 11.4.1 on an iPhone X. Latest update...?? No cities listed when the 3 dot button is pressed for United States. Also, every server in the United States shows 6 miles from me which obviously is wrong. This has not been fixed in several updates. Finally average speeds have been dropping on MANY servers over the past couple of months. Please keep up and focus on quality of experience as your subscription base grows, I love Nord VPN but if I’m being honest...lately it has been frustrating, attention to detail seems to be lacking in several recent updates. Thank you for a great product, I have faith you will fix these items soon!
Has improved, but not quite there yet
by NopheeJones on 2020/12/14 18:31
Nord has made tremendous moves to improve their ability to bring internet security to their clients. However, one honest thing I have noticed is the speed. You have to choose their new NordLynx if you want some good speed, because sometimes it slows you down a lot. The speciality servers are great, protecting you and routing that traffic through when you need added protection. I normally use it when I go somewhere and I have bad cell service in that location, but they have Wi-Fi and it’s a shady place. I like VPN’s and have also tried VyprVPN which the only reason I left VyprVPN was because their older app and MacBook application was very buggy and seemed to not work properly so I gave up on it. I have heard it made improvements since then which was about 2-years ago. I have yet to try Express VPN so I think after Nord’s subscription ends, I will likely go review Express VPN and see how it is.
Sends a Duplicate iMessage and a text message
by tweety624 on 2020/09/27 23:24
I love Nord VPN but I’ve been getting an iMessage and a text message when people text me for awhile now. The iMessage and text message are identical, saying the same thing on my iPhone. I have unlimited texts but for some people they don’t have unlimited texts. My son complains because on his end when I text him it goes to him as a regular SMS text message (in green) and he has an iPhone too and he should be getting an iMessage (which is blue). iMessages are encrypted and regular SMS texts are not. Also on my Mac I have to login to Nord VPN every time I use my Mac. They fixed that on the iPhone which is great. I have a 3 year subscription and really do love this app. It’s one of the best VPN’s for sure! If the 2 glitches above could be fixed, that would be Awesome. I deleted the Nord VPN app for a short time to test a free VPN in the App Store and it did not send a duplicate iMessage and SMS message so it is the Nord App. Thank you
Worth the money!
by CV Outlaw on 2018/04/24 20:14
Easy to use, safe and secure. Look for a promotion before signing up to save yourself some dough. If you can’t find one go with this VPN anyways. (I gonna say it so brace yourself) “I work in IT for a living” and after researching for reliability, price, cool features (aka advanced functionality) and supported platforms... this was the best service and the app is very easy to use. If you are new to VPN, just select the country you want your traffic to flow through and enjoy your data secure traveling. I recommend using the auto select feature as it takes your location into account and will aid in finding you the fastest server to connect to. Also, you can leave it running but as your traffic will require some travel I find it’s better to turn it off when you’re streaming or performing task that you don’t care people can see.
Good value and good product.
by BGnATC on 2019/06/09 17:50
I feel like NordVPN provides a good product for the price they ask. It really struggles with slow WiFi but works pretty well over cellular and most other WiFi’s (I understand that this is a common complaint with VPN - there’s a lot of overhead). I use it a lot at the gym on the public WiFi there, and the Notification Center widget comes and handy to quickly connect and disconnect. The app is intuitive and makes it easy to choose my preferred servers. I feel like I get what I’m paying for and I’m quite happy; I have only one complaint: each time the app updates I am forced to re-enter my login credentials and to approve a new VPN profile. I assume it has something to do with how iOS handles VPNs; it’s a minor inconvenience but I would like to enter my login credentials less frequently.
Constantly Disconnects, Bad Support
by Applenicknamelol on 2020/04/30 23:04
I’ve been using Nord for years, but sometime last year the service went from great to absolutely terrible and it has never recovered. On both desktop and iPhone, the automatic server connection would almost always lead to a poor connection, forcing me to manually select a server. This would only be a mild inconvenience if servers I was connected to didn’t randomly sever the connection constantly. I would often lose service (while having full bars) while driving, and would have to manually reconnect just to get my gps directions back on before I missed a turn. It took them over a year to fix the iPhone bug where it would log users out randomly. When I contacted support about all these issues, they were wildly useless, sending me endless (delayed) responses asking silly questions like if my apps were up to date (they were, but if they weren’t, would it really excuse their servers just ceasing to function at random intervals). They eventually asked me to keep and send them a log of the servers I connected to. More activities to do while driving! I, of course, said no because that would heavily defeat the entire security purpose of using a VPN. I didn’t think I had to explain that. Needless to say, virtually all of these issues still persist today. I might switch services before my current subscription even expires. Oh, and they refused to refund me despite the service I’m paying for not being a fraction of the quality I paid for.
Excellent VPN Updated 2019
by Kommandohund on 2019/07/08 15:01
Have used three VPNs in the last three years. So far Nord is the best. Better than Pure VPN in reliability and customer treament. I like Nord so far the best. I also have tried Proton VPN now. It is functional but Nord is still the best even without the recent enhancements they have made. On my devices I use both IKEv2 and Open VPN. Work great on the two best protocols. I use the AES that they offer. The only improvement I would suggest is giving the user the choice of TwoFish or AES. AES as a US Govt approved protocol will always be suspect to some extent if you follow the writings of Snowden from the NSA as well as encryption expert Dr. Schneier. I would prefer the choice. TwoFish and even its predecessor BlowFish have never been close to being breached even by the US NSA. Just a suggestion. Others allow the choice. Keep up the great work.
Works 60% of the Time
by Solver7 on 2019/10/18 01:25
When it works it is more often good than bad. At times it does slow down considerably and I find a server close to me that shows lower utilization and when it lets me connect, that resolves the slow speed. But it does not always connect to those servers (Los Angeles) and at those times I pick another city and connect without issue. Mostly didn’t work when I was in New York. Neither quick connect nor manually choosing a city would work. It would connect at first and then after a few minutes stop working and I would just disconnect and stop using it. The user interface is adequate, it is pleasant to look at, and I would rate this “easy to use.’ If you only need an occasional vpn, this would be ok. If you are interested in a full time vpn, look elsewhere.
Keeps forgetting my login
by lior22 on 2019/11/26 21:05
*** see update below *** The app keeps on “forgetting” my login, so I’m finding myself having to log into it again often which is quite the hassle. Especially because I’m sometimes in an environment (like a conference) where I _don’t_ want to type my password in front of the people sitting behind me. Not to mention that my password is not an easy one. It’s annoying to the point of me just ditching the local internet and moving to mobile data - for which I don’t use VPN. I was a big fan since the early days, but now I’m considering alternatives. I would not recommend checking this app until this is fixed and if you do decide to use it - don’t buy long term subscription before you’ve used it for a few months. *** update *** So today my subscription expired. Do you know how I found out? I was using a highly sensitive app on an unsecured network when I decided to check on my VPN status. Imagine my surprise when I found out NordVPN decided to shut down without notice, while keeping the network connection alive. Do you know what’s worse than using an unsecured network without a VPN? Using one when you are sure you have a VPN up, but you don’t. NordVPN: I get it, my plan expired. That’s on me. But it would have been nice to get a warning before you shut down quietly and leave me exposed. Now, if you excuse me, I need to replace a few passwords and find a new VPN provider. I really wish I could rate you negative stars.
Terrible customer service
by regret buying subscription on 2019/11/26 01:24
I purchased a 2 year subscription and all of a sudden couldn’t log in. I tried password reset and only received a link for 1 of the emails that said I didn’t have an account. I though I was mistaken and maybe had a monthly subscription. I looked for documents to support and was finally able to find it. When I chatted with customer service they needed the date, exp, and amount of purchase which I gave. They searched and still couldn’t find an account. I received a reply days later saying that I had an account with the other email that I never received a reset link for. I tried to reset again and nothing. A chat rep had to manually set a password for me to access account. I then ask, well I’ve lost over a month of use of my already paid for 2 year subscription, how will you compensate me for that? I was offered 7 days. I was not happy with this and thought a month was more reasonable. Keep in mind I had email proof of me resetting the one password in October and up until today have not been able to access account. After I was told I could send a screenshot of the email I was told it proved nothing and that the email was easy to make. I asked why would I doctor an email to try and get an extra month on an already paid for 2 year subscription? Rep was very condescending and accusatory. Great way to to treat customer with annual subscriptions. Stay away, too many other options with better service.
NordVPN is Excellent
by ObiJon2012 on 2019/05/09 02:13
Don’t be influenced by the negative reviews. NordVPN works really well, especially if you take a little time to learn the basics of VPN technology. I have used NordVPN for a couple of years and the service has only gotten better. Among other things, the developer provides many tutorials, technical papers, and a blog that is frequently updated. For most users NordVPN will work perfectly well most of the time. But you will probably run into trouble if you use it to connect to a site that already provides its own secure tunnel - like many banks. Turning your phone off for long periods of time with the VPN app still running is also asking for trouble. Turning the kill switch on without understanding what it does is another bad idea. NordVPN for iOS is an excellent app with excellent support. Highly recommended.
WORKS! unlike expressvpn
by Ranger_Rudy on 2019/05/29 23:48
I started out in this whole "VPN" thing with express vpn due to being overwhelmingly bombarded by their advertising on several shows and podcasts I listen to. But, I quickly and unfortunately discovered that advertising was all they were good at. Reconnecting.... reconnecting.... dropped connection.... having to restart phone.... uninstall.... reinstall.... hard restart of entire phone. Was infuriating. I quit express, got nord due to great reviews, and have had it several months now and am completely satisfied. You'll forget you even have a VPN, which is really what you want. The only time you may need to open the app is after a long period of non-use of the phone, like first thing in the morning. Then you're off to the races. 5 stars.
Awful
by juleskb on 2018/11/19 22:07
I switched from another VPN service because it had slow speed and connection issues. At first NordVPN was great but on iOS 12 on my iPhone X and XS Max i can’t connect to cell service after having been connected to WiFi. I’ve deleted, reinstalled, nothing works. I just tried it again and had to delete it and reboot my phone in order to have cell service. It has interfered with my work and personal life. Clearly the Nord staff think it’s my job to spend countless hours applying their worthless “solutions”. I refuse to spend another minute trying to fix their broken app. I like it on my Mac and it’s ok on my iPad but it’s a disaster on my iPhone. Nord should pay me back 1/3 of what I paid since it only works on 2/3 devices. Your developer response is not responsive. The fact is that unless I delete your app my phone cannot reconnect to cellular service. And no I’m not going to contact your customer support team yet again. I guess you weren’t listening when I said I would not expend any more labor to fix your app. You fix it.
Servers being removed and not replaced?
by Notapaidreviewer on 2020/09/12 01:14
Previous version of this app allowed user to see the server load of a particular server in a location eg. New York. Now Nord ios app automatically pics the server it wants. I've noticed many lower number identification servers (below #1000) have disappeared or aren't working. Speeds aren't great. Rather on par with free VPN providers. I get less than 140 Mbps regardless of connection type or protocol when connected to the closest server and 350 Mbps without. That's a performance drop of 70%. I get much faster speeds with other premium VPN providers than with Nord. Nord says to contact support which was already done. Issues remain. Therefore we know what they problem is, right?? Google captchas are annoying with this VPN. Sites know I'm using a VPN and sometimes I'm blocked. RAM servers are not implemented as promised. The question remains why and they haven't provided reasons. I worry that Nord is hiding something with a the removal of the feature I described in ios athough it's available on desktop. The Money back guarantee is supposed to be 30 days not 7. The reasons Nord gets this star rating vs one or two is because: they have a lot of servers (that seems to be changing), they keep no logs, and they actually have a decent support team. I would be leary of subscribing to any subscription longer than a month.
works great and reliable but some small quirks
by Nelson Ned on 2019/07/19 00:48
I bought a 3 year subscription to this service since it seems to be the best deal going. So far everything has worked great on several of my devices and if they are being truthful regarding their privacy policy then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. There are some small quirks which are kind of annoying but not deal breakers. Obviously some websites are completely unreachable through a VPN like these, even if the server is in the same country where the website is at. For me Bank of America doesn’t work at all through the VPN but all other bank sites have no problems. Also, this thing totally degrades any kind of carrier wifi calling. It is a garbled mess when using wifi calling with the VPN and you are simply better off turning off the VPN before initiating a wifi call.
This has not changed anything for me 😡
by Ace-Leone on 2020/12/01 08:30
I originally purchased this because I was promised several features and whatnot. I made a decision that I was going to buy the 3-year subscription. BIG waste of $300. Buying any VPN is nearly useless. I tried to cancel and refund a LONG time ago before my 30 days and it would take me in circles not allowing me to get a refund. I even talked to someone. They told me what to select and to no avail, no refund. It’s been a while (I still have 2 years until my “protection” runs out). But I saw the app on my phone and thought I’d look at it for old times sake. Your IP is NOT protected, nor is anything you do. I made SURE I was connected and configured etc., but I was still able to pull my own IP and see every little crumb I left on the internet and media by using some software I developed for myself to become a White Hat for Ethical Hacking. What you see on sponsored websites is false. They don’t do anything. They use the money they trick people into spending to buy advertisements and then make more money from that over time. I know every company is basically a fraud in one way or another, but with this one specifically, there is no benefit, but lost money I could have put towards groceries, house payment, car payment, Christmas for my daughter, and SO MUCH more. I’m not only dissatisfied, and disappointed, but I’m disgusted even a whole year after making a purchase I was PROMISED I could reverse within 30 days.
Easy to use so far, BUT...
by Dickdownyourgirl on 2019/12/22 13:14
Honestly, this is the 3rd VPN I tried taking advantage of everyone’s free trial period. This is the simplest and easiest to use interface in my opinion. Here’s the issue, and it only happens about 10-20% of the time... I CANNOT check my email settings UNLESS I’m connected to WiFi. If I’m not connected to WiFi and I attempt to check my email on my iPhone, it tells me that there is “an error”. As soon as I connect to WiFi, I can check my email again with no issues. Also, with social media, it will not load photos or timeline information while the VPN is activated. As soon as I hit the disconnect button on the NORDVPN app, social media loads with no issues or problems. It relatively annoying to have to connect and disconnect periodically to make sure there work but I guess better safe than sorry with a VPN.
Worst VPN service on the Market
by PDiddy 33317 on 2020/03/31 13:54
Avoid this app at all cost Just got my notification from these guys that they want to auto renew my subscription.... won’t be doing that !!!! Never been so disappointed in one company before, these guys have the worst product/service/care ...you name it ... ever Also saw the Nord Customer care people appended a note to my previous review asking for reference numbers for my compliant. That’s a joke, these guys dropped my connection with the support agent, never re-established the connection, tried to start me off with a new agent all over again after an hour of back and forth with them and they never sent a transcript of my discussion on chat, even though they ask for an email address. Do not buy this service, look at the reviews, especially the number of negative reviews and how seriously flawed this product is. Here are a few issues that the product has; 1. Unstable connective 2. Disconnects and exposes your IP without warning 3. Kill switch fails 4. I have Geo Fenced content issues all the time 5. Fake customer support - they will always blame other things for their failings, wont solve your problems 6. Typical bait and switch model - give you great service for 30days and once you are out of the returns window they screw you over DO NOT BUY THIS SERVICE - More people need to out these scammers ..... the APP store should also stop offering this APP. All positive reviews are either fakes or basic users.
THIS IS A SCAM
by Deelgify on 2019/08/24 18:36
UPDATE: After working with customer support to troubleshoot the issues MANY times with no success (the only success they had was in deleting every one of my saved WiFi passwords), I decided I was unsatisfied with the service and wanted a refund. THEY REFUSED. Even though I had used less than 1 year of the 3 years I paid for, they refused to give a prorated refund. Their service is faulty and was no longer functioning in their promise of protecting my online security. Their unwillingness to stand by their product says a lot about the scam they are running with their 3 year subscription. I have switched to ExpressVPN and have been very happy with the service thus far. _____________________________________________ Nord VPN used to do a pretty decent job of making me feel protected. Even though the app was constantly disconnecting and needed manual effort to reconnect, at least the kill switch would ensure I wasn’t using the internet unprotected. NOT the case anymore! Now there is no longer an option to enable kill switch and I will randomly realize that I’m not connect to the VPN and have been using WiFi completely unprotected for who knows how long. It’s a horrible feeling! Nord needs to address this issue. We pay you to protect our connection; this unreliable service is not just inconvenient, it’s actively putting your users at risk. Will be switching to a new VPN provider as soon as I can find a more reliable service.
Constantly disconnecting from network
by wacowhacko on 2021/01/08 10:40
Logs me out. Delays when “quick connect” is on. Reveals location on browser. Doesn’t work with Netflix when you want to change the region. I have to delete and reinstall and change my password more than biweekly. NordVPN gives me the same instructions (see proceeding) each time I have this problem. My WiFi is strong and I have extra cellular data that’s always on. Why isn’t this app not functioning? I’m going to try TunnelBear vpn. Edit I bought surfeasy and the vpn that Andrew Yang promotes on his podcast. They had the same issues of turning on and off but on the Surfeasy site they tell you to go to “General” in your iPhone settings than VPN and press the “i” in the circle. Then turn off “connect on demand” before pressing “reset vpn profile” on your vpn app. This has worked so far. I’ve communicated with Nord VPN more than three times about this issue and they have never gave me this advice.
Garbage
by ljsdf8uy498hr on 2019/10/09 22:46
Disconnects often even with all settings on the always connect automatically. Then the infamous ‘VPN server cannot connect’ no matter what service you pick. Frequently have to reconnect or delete app and reinstall. Tired of getting stuck with no access to Internet all of a sudden and now I either have to delete the app entirely, or sit and fix it. Update: no improvement even with iPhone Xs that is fully updated. Every week I have to uninstall and reinstall the app. This also occurred on my iPhone 7. Connecting is difficult even thought the servers say they are available and have low loads. I’d get rid of it entirely except I bought a 2 yr agreement- can’t even get my moneys worth really. Screws up email often. I did reach out to customer support during the first year of subscription- took a long time for them to respond and by then I had fixed the problem enough to get the stupid app to work. Will be switching VPNs once this one is up since I doubt I’ll get a refund at this point.

My experience with Nord and their support has been enough to obliterate any possibility that I ever give them another dime.

by Anon23232 on 2021/01/12 00:18
To be fair, this irritating prompt appears on all of their apps, not just on the iOS app. But it’s annoying how it keeps harassing me about changing my password. Yeah, I probably should, not that anyone gives a crap about my account, and I should also exercise more, but I have a hardcore fetish for freedom, consequences be damned. So no, I am not interested in changing my password and you need to stop harassing me about it.

by LRReviews@my on 2021/01/11 22:49
I understand that it terms of what this service is intended, it is great.

Can’t attest to the app’s functionality but they operate in a very smooth and ethical way

by Kgpnative on 2021/01/11 13:51
Today I am only able to get 10% of my download speed without VPN.
