I love selling items through this app. My main problem is that the new way to set up shipping is very complicated. I miss when you can just tap on the type of shipping based on the type of item. Now you have to have the exact measurements (which is hard when you are selling close and don’t have a box or envelope yet) and the exact weight of the package.
Mercari is absolutely one of my favorite apps.

It’s easy to sell and buy from there. Bought a phone and was able to return it with no problem after finding out that it had some broken feature (flashlight didn’t work all the time). I have found unique things I haven’t found in other apps, the only thing that would be a complaint is that they raised the shipping costs for heavier things on USPS. Such a good app.

The app's technical support lied to me about whether a particular coupon would work on a purchase and When it didn't, I was refused a partial refund despite multiple requests. I have no choice but to bestow this one-star review as a reprimand to the company and a warning to customers.

I decided to give this app a try. I made a listing and it wanted $3 just to list it. Just cause you list it, doesn’t mean it will sell and you’re just out $3 which is too high compared to other selling sites.

You are better off going on the street corner to sell your stuff. Crazy high percentage for selling things, you don’t get paid until the person that bought the item reviews you, and then they charge you again to get your money to your bank account unless you want to wait a week for it to come through. I hope the server for this app explodes and never gets rebuilt.

Here’s the “Real” lowdown on this site and sites like it. If and I so skeptically say “If” these are actually regular Joe’s and Janes or your neighbor’s as this app likes to say smh! They all DRASTICALLY FAIL to realize people are not going to buy used with nothing but a mere 3 day money back guarantee for only a %20 discount! That’s insulting and dog poop! What are people really that cheap they’ll eagerly get duped or ripped off to save $2 to $20? When for the extra money you can buy new with a real warranty from a reputable company who can afford to replace? Not a good app! What would make it good? Well set a cap on what people can ask for their used stuff and don’t set a minimum on offers the buyer can make!

An improvement to the app would include: allowing the seller to still leave a review for “unresponsive buyer after shipment of item”...or something to that effect....buyers that converse until you ship the item and then go silent, and do not leave a rating so you have to wait out the full 3 days for payment.. I’m sure they do this simply to avoid receiving a bad/negative review. Which is really annoying for sellers, especially as one who ships same or next day, and rushes to do so!

I have used this app before with no issues until last week. Ordered 2 items that were being sent together. The seller did not package correctly. I got the items and they are broken. $96 order and I’m still trying to get my money back. I have sent videos, photos of the items, photos of the box, answered every email. Actually had to email customer support twice to even get a response. I made a large purchase and can’t get my money back when it’s clear the item is broken. Use Depop or eBay. They are much quicker and efficient at fixing the issues.

The shipping portion of the app needs redone. When I sold an item it pre printed out a shipping label for me based off previous items like mine. This was convenient Bc I didn’t have to measure the package etc. THE PROBLEM is the printed label has a “mailing date” that’s printed on the label. This date is set 3 days ahead so when I took it to the post office they said their rules don’t allow me to mail it out until that ship date. Fortunately this rule is only enforced by certain post office employees so I was able to go to a different post office to handle the matter. When I contacted Mercari’s customer service they told me their shipping department only contacts via email but they would fast track my request so I could get a new label before the post office closes. I received an email from the “shipping” department 24 hrs later with a response that said “ sorry for the confusion, you have to mail your package 1-3 days after sale” this answer had nothing to do with my request.

If you need the money fast in an unexpected event it doesn’t matter because after you ship you will not get the money until the buyer confirm that it got delivered and leaves a rating. The app tracks the package so the seller and buyer can see where it’s at and when it gets delivered. Iam still waiting to get paid because the buyers has not left a review yet.

I sold my item and shipped it with labels provided by Mercari. And the buyer filed a return request because "he received a different item according to him", before even contacting the seller! And of course Mercari approved the request without even questioning with the seller! I was SO disappointed at this point because not only did I receive any payment or my item back, but because I don't deserve being shown any proof of return approval. The escalation team staff just replied perfunctorily how incapable they are in this situation, and ended my conversation by claiming the case was "resolved"! ------------------ The sellers are so unprotected in this app. I understand dispute could happen in Mercari's business paradigm, as no third-party in the middle can verify the transaction. And when something like this happened, they always treat sellers like trash! So what I learned is, if you want to sell your unused cheapie, do it on Mercari. DON'T SELL ANY VALUABLES.

Buyer Protection Extremely Limited

WARNING: Do not buy on Mercari if planning to use sealed item for gift purposes or you need more then 3 days to assemble and test the item. Once you pass the 3 day mark, it doesn’t matter if you are totally in the right about an issue, Mercari will not assist you and in fact will not even allow a seller to fix the problem as returns or exchanges are not allowed after the 3 day period. In my case, we bought an item to be used as a gift and gave it to our child a few weeks after purchase. The item looked just as it should from the outside, but unfortunately the seller had made a mistake and the item received was totally different then what had been described. This was a good seller that had made an honest mistake, but because more then the 3 days had passed, Mercari will not allow the seller to exchange or return the item. As I was using this item for a gift, I couldn’t fully inspect the item until it was opened by the recipient. Just read the complaints on here and you will see Mercari has the exact same response if you need few days (perhaps you are waiting for a weekend) to assemble a larger purchase. If something is broken or missing, they will not allow a return/exchange simply because it has been more then 3 days, they don’t care about the specifics of the case and will just send you a canned response. I could understand a reasonable limit of time, like 30 days, but 3 days is way too short to allow for real buyer protection. I bought a small item, with limited value, so it is not a big deal, but I can only imagine how badly you could get burned if you bought expensive electronics or something of that nature. It invites seller fraud, as a seller will know that as long as the buyer doesn’t get a chance to fully inspect and test the item in the short 3 day period, they cannot be held accountable to the buyer for their fraud.

Listed an item to sell for a fair price let’s say 20 bucks So now the fun begins... Encourage free shipping but it will cost you 11 bucks Then you have a fee for the listing ,let’s say 3 bucks Then an interest buyer requests a lower price let’s say 18 bucks Item sold.... you make 5 bucks then...... Now you have 5 bucks in and now you want it transferred to your account Your going to get charged 2 bucks That leaves you a profit of 3 bucks Has to be one of the most disappointing transactions ever. Keep the $$$. I know the buyer got a great deal. I don’t want to hang around and see it re listed for stupid money

Worst app. Horrible customer service, only email to phone calls. Refund money back as in app credit, but don’t tell you. Policy clearly says it goes back to your card but mine didn’t. And it expired in 30 days. So they basically stole my money because I had no idea. They refuse to give any extra days. It’s crazy they keep your money as credit and put a short time limit on it, then keep it. Use Poshmark it’s way better. Has a bigger selection and their customer service is better.

Used it fine for a few weeks tried to list items and bought stuff. However now I can’t login and rate a seller which I bought from which prevents him from getting the money. Tried contacting support MULTIPLE times with no avail. On top of that they charge a 10% seller fee for selling making profits harder. My account still receives the excessive spam emails from mercari when I can’t even login. UPDATE : I UNSUBSCRIBED AND THEY CONTINUE TO SPAM MY EMAIL. Terrible app do not get.

Let me get something strait; this app is VERY nice. It’s basically eBay but with the ability to send offers (good for buyers) but only gives you three days to return an item instead of eBays 30 (good for seller). It’s a trustworthy app and is very easy to use. My complaint is the frustratingly high amount of times this app has tried to sell me something. If you save something as a search or a certain item they’ll send you a ton of emails and notifications through the app at random times about new and/or similar items. You can unsubscribe to the emails and turn off notifications BUT they will eventually start sending you emails again and you have to turn off ALL notifications, including listing texts, for it to stop. There should be an option to disable saved searches notifications and when I update my email preferences it should last forever. Now they started having in app notifications and will show you have notifications for price drops but half the time it’s just Mericari themselves advertising some deal unrelated to what I want. I would give 5 stars if the advertising would stop. I know what I want to buy goddamnit! Tl;dr: good app but will constantly annoy you to buy something.

Keeps crashing

For the past week or so, my account has not been working. Whenever i try to click on a transaction or rate the buyer, it says order cancelled. Whenever i try to click on a message from a possible buyer, it says unregistered user. It has gotten rid of all my saved searches. I tried emailing mercari, but that was no help, as they just told me to simply click on my buyer ratings, as if i wasn’t already trying that. Disappointing 😕

I like that Mercari only gives the seller 3 days to ship, unlike other sites that allow an unresponsive seller 7 days before the buyer can cancel. I don’t like that a buyer can only offer a certain % lower than asking or that a seller can set their shipping at $18 for a top if they want to... that is absurd. I also don’t like that people who smoke don’t mention they do and their items wreak of cigarettes and that smell is really hard to wash out. People who don’t smoke usually say smoke free but do I have to ask EVERY TIME? Nothing is being done to correct this issue.

So I sell on eBay, and tried mercari and yes I instantly made 3 sales, but their chat service is confusing it only shows a icon for your item, so if you’re talking to 2 people about the same product you will be confused. Second they basically force you to use the shipping labels. Idk about you guys but I don’t have the fancy equipment to be printing my own labels yet I use my phone. So you can’t manually enter a tracking number. I had to send it through chat to each buyer. Then they charged me for shipping when I paid at the usps. On one game I lost money and the other made 3 dollars profit as opposed to the 6 dollars profit and 10 profit on the other. You can’t reach them and when you do they want to charge 5 dollars. I recommend staying on eBay as a seller.

I started off loving this app. They tale 10% and have a good system for selling. Things were going well, then all of a sudden they deleted a pair of sneakers I was selling, then another and a sweatshirt with the reason being “not enough documentation given to authenticate. Instead of giving me the option to provide more pics/receipts/etc, they just shut me down like that! And zero recourse or customer service to fix it. Horrible to do to customers after collecting fees on sales. Won’t be using this app again sadly.

Signing up for an account was insanely hard to use. The only way I could sign up was with the Facebook login, I tried everything else but it didn’t work. I wanted to verify my account but phone Authenticator at first was tied to one of my failed attempts to sign up so I had to go through customer service which was fine, but...... after that the phone Authenticator straight up didn’t work I’ve tried many times over the past few day but every time it sends me an error box with “number did not match” both with the text and call methods (also the fact that there is no “I didn’t get the code” to resend the 2FA number, so I had to wait about an hour every time I wanted to try again). I am very unhappy with this app and I guess I’ll just hoard all the things I wanted to sell and live in perpetual sadness.

I have been using mercari for a while and noticed that mercari team and customer support only favors the buyers no matter what. I had instances where the buyer lies the product was damaged or missing and as a seller u loose the fund and the item. I even requested to return back the item in one instance as the buyer claimed it is damaged but the buyer shipped empty box. I recorded the whole session and even submitted the proof but no reply after. I feel the mercari customer support acts dumb most of the time.

It is VERY ANNOYING that the search function keeps displaying the same items over and over as you scroll down. As soon as I start seeing repeat items I get out of there. I do not want to see things that I scrolled past already! Please don’t waste shopper’s time!

Lack of Flexibility and Service with Issues

This company is incapable of working outside the guidelines and lacks personality. Received a product damaged in shipping. The product would be of No use to the seller sending it back. I elected to keep this product and order a replacement part and requested a partial dollar amount from seller, which they felt was fair. Mercari was incapable and or showing any willingness to assist both parties on a simple request. A simple resolution to charge me $5 less in the transaction to be charged to my card in compensation for the damaged part and to confirm with the seller. The answer was like a robot reading from a script! Not good customer service. There is no way to call anybody or speak with, just messaging which takes over 48 hrs to get back to you. Tell them and send a message to the seller you are going to pay them direct and see how quick they are to respond to that!! They delete the message to the seller and warn you on how that’s against policy!! Don’t use this app!!

I love this app, super user friendly and fun, and has a huge selection of quality stuff from lots of brands. However recently I ran into a problem. I am logged into my account but my likes and saved searches are gone. Idk if it’s a glitch, but it’s really lame bcuz that was my favorite part. It’s been like 3 days since that happened, but overall runs pretty smooth, transactions are easy. It’s just sorta hard to make money off of it, bcuz i sold something for $20 and i only made an $8 profit. it would be nice to have a locals only option, to save the cost of shipping. :P

I absolutely love this app! I have gotten so many AMAZING deals on name brands like Lululemon. It’s also a great place to sell! I also love how the app notifies you when your item is shipped, and lets you view your tracking/when your item will arrive. Another great thing is that the seller doesn’t get paid until your item arrives and you rate the seller. This means that you are having a safe purchase with no scams. Great app!

Very poor Customer Service, Erwin is a unprofessional representative! Sold a NEW in Sealed Box Breast Pump. After Buyer received item, she requested a return stating it was missing parts. Upon approval of return, I received item back with the pump machine missing. Erwin refused to even discuss the issue siding with the Buyer who completely lied and stole the item. Mecari definitely needs more experience in Customer Services protecting the Buyer. Highly Irritating outcome!

My free gift promo for listing was never shipped but the promo ended so I never got anything. My balance is under the required amount to get paid without a fee. I sold an item, I should be able to get my money. I bought something to use up that balance but wasn’t offered the option to use the balance, so it’s still there and I paid in full from my bank account.

Customer service is horrible. They do not review flagged rude comments from sellers. I flagged a rude sellers comment. And replied to the seller to have a “good luck in life” and Mercari took my comment as a “inappropriate comment “ . There is no human customer service. Everything is done by bots !

The support for this app is so non existent, so frustratingly robot like, I wonder why they call it help. 15 back and forth emails, 15 canned responses, attempts to resolve zero. They have the money I made on UGG boots and basically will not do anything to get it back to me. Buyer/sellers beware!!

Have had issues with the whole process. Making you scan a picture of your passport with a small “scanning” window and then taking your own picture on the spot is ridiculous. Then trying to contact them to get help is even more insane. For 5 days I filed “escalation” tickets via phone and chat, would get an email saying it could take up to 24 hours to get a response. Each following day I received an email saying my issue had been resolved. Except it hadn’t. The money ... MY money ... was still sitting in their system. They kept telling my ID couldn’t be verified due to an “address mismatch”. However, passports don’t even have an address on them!!!! Most ridiculous “company” I’ve ever dealt with. Do the sales yourself in a well-lit public place and get your money in-hand. Don’t give that 10% to them!!!!

It’s my favorite selling app. Easy to use. I love how when you search for items, you are able to sort from low to high. Items are easy to find and nicely categorized. It would be nice if there was an option to provide shipping discounts on behalf of seller for buyers especially for shipping items that weigh over a pound. I think that shipping cost sometimes deters buyers.

Mercari only allows 3 days for buyers to send items back for a refund. I bought something from mercari that was labeled as “new open box” only to find out that the item was used, parts were missing, and the item was broken. However, 3 days had passed from when the item arrived to when I had finally checked the item. Mercari said my item is now “non refundable” and suggests that I list it for sale again on their website. I just lost $60. No way to open a ticket after 3 days of purchase. On the flip side, sellers on Mercari get scammed. Buyers can request a refund and instead of sending the original item back, they mail back something else. Sellers lose money too. Mercari has NO INSURANCE for buyers or sellers. It’s buy and sell at your own risk. I’ve enjoyed using the app but will stop using because of these reasons.

I am a long time user of this app. I started using this in 2017, mainly for selling and getting rid of my old stuff. It is very easy to use, and makes everything a very easy and fair transaction. I recently started buying off Mercari, and in the rare case that something does not go as planned, it is very easy to cancel and they give your money back promptly. I highly recommend and will continue to use this app for years to come.

If you accept an item and confirm it was delivered. Then find out it I is not working right there is very little you can do, the user can just block you. You can’t do partial refunds. Really hard to find out how to do a full refund . Stay away from this app!!!

I had a rough start with them since they cancel my first purchase, which actually was a gift, due to verification of my identity. I get it privacy and safety is the most important thing in these kind of sites, but that is something they should be do at the beginning when they grant you access to the site, at least they should not let you buy or sell without verifying everything. When I bought the product obviously my money got deducted from my account and after I complained the money did not go back to my card but after 14 straight days. Their customer service really need to improve because they did not showed any empathy whatsoever at the moment of the issue but afterwards when I was decided to erase the app for good, to be honest I was just waiting for my money to get back to my account and then I was determined to delete the app, but because it took too long I received a discount in the next purchase which in fact came convenient recently, when I was actually searching for something that I was not able to find anywhere else but I found it here so I said why not?. Like I said it was a roughly start but I thing it improved and I am giving it a chance. Just please do the identification or whatever security steps you need to BEFORE any money gets deducted or so, also the seller I don’t even know what she thought about me after being in communication and suddenly the transaction was cancel. Whatever just think things through.

It’s a great app overall. If you are looking for an easy way to sell your unwanted items, then this app is for you. You take a picture of the item, post it with the right description, weigh your item and estimate shipping (shipping in this app is sooo much cheaper than shipping it yourself) and they do all the work! I usually sell my items within a week. They charge 10% but its totally worth it. What I like the most about this app is that they protect the buyer and seller. When someone buys your item, they pay upfront. Then once you ship the item and they receive and expect it, they rate you. You then rate them back and get paid. The only thing I don't like is that you don’t receive funds right away. They only deposit the balance once a week (usually after the following monday) so you have to make sure to request a deposit by the Sunday before. Things I would like for them to change when you message buyer/seller, is to add emojis and pictures. They overprotect sometimes and will shut down your message if it contains any words like (“free”, “trade” or personal information like email or phone number. etc.) so There’s no real way to be able to share in a picture a damage or item missing in the messenger portion. However if you do have a damage you can file a claim and they usually take a couple days to contact you back. No funds are release during that time. Anyway overall great app, I’m at almost 100 sales with 100 5 stars 🤗💕

I have done a TON of business through Mercari. Both buying and selling. Most transactions go smooth, but I have had a couple of issues. Any time I have ever had a problem, I reach out and I have been helped. This last situation deserved a 5 star review. I purchased a shirt from a seller, she waited past the three days to ship it. I asked for a refund on the 4th day and she clicked that she had shipped it. The tracking info never updated and by the 8th day after I purchased, it showed that it had been delivered. I checked and it was apparently picked up in Colorado where the seller lived. Mercari ended up refunding me my money, but the seller said they had shipped. A few days later, I received the shirt in the mail. I checked tracking and it still said it was delivered in Colorado, nothing further than that. I reached out to the seller to let her know that I got it, and Mercari. I wanted to make sure she was paid but didn’t know how to go about it since the item had been deactivated. Mercari thanked me for my honesty and ended up paying for the shirt and told me to keep it or do what I wanted, and also gave me a 5% coupon for my next purchase. I understand things happen, not every transaction will be the same. Some people won’t be happy with the way that things are dealt with...but I have always had great customer service with this app. Easy to sell, easy to buy..I will stay loyal to them because I think they’re great!! I have been using mercari for years now and I have always enjoyed buying and selling. My only recommendations to make the app itself better and more appealing are when it comes to “my likes” I wish there was a way we it could be sorted and for it to be categorized into their respective selections, such as if I am looking for a particular phone I liked I shouldn’t be scrolling for minutes at a time to find it, it would make it much easier to have a menu there that’s includes choices like women’s clothing, electronics etc. so I can find it much easier, and now for the second recommendation, for some reason if I happen to scroll on my likes and click on something like a pair of shoes and I exit out of that window and back to my likes, it reverts back to the very top!!!!! It’s the same way with my inbox/buying messages!! I can be scrolling down for about a minute, click on something on either my likes or messages exit out of that particular page and go back and I would still end up at the very top! It is frustrating!!! For some reason though this problem does not exist when I am searching for something on browsing page, if I click on an item then exit out of that items page back to the browsing it still keeps me in that same browsing place as opposed to making me start looking from the very top again like I do in “My Likes” and the messaging portion. Please fix this soon!!!!! It is very irritating! Other than that this app is great :)

I joined Mercari several months ago and have done some buying and selling. I have only good things to say. Even when a seller didn’t respond to a purchase I made on his site, Mercari backed up its guarantee. That’s why this a great way to shop, if you like doing shopping online! You can do it without the worry of the what if, because you know Mercari has a guarantee and your money is protected if a seller backs out or if the product is what it was described as or if your unhappy with it in some way. The items I’ve bought have all been exactly what was advertised, I look for sellers who have good reviews. Another great feature Mercari offers, so that you can feel rest assured with what your getting. Other sellers I’ve bought from have made up for the one who didn’t respond. All very nice, people take pride in their reviews so its motivation to shop quickly in the 3 business days Mercari allows. And to package nicely ...Mercari set great standards to achieve. I feel they have thought of most everything. As a seller, they make that easy and provide the shipping labels and clear instructions to help get the best review for yourself as a seller and a happy buyer! They take a fair percentage for the sale. They also have a great team to answer clearly any questions I’ve had about how to use the site. The site is easy to use. So much you can find on here! Glad I found it. Happy Customer here!!

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEE this app?!!!!!!! No joke, it’s legit the BEST APP TO SHOP ON!!!! I’m literally on this app every single day...haha I don’t get on Facebook at all anymore even, because of this app! But I really only have a couple small issues with this app. To start off with and I’m not sure if it’s a big issue or what it is but going through my likes items and when I click on one then go back to the liked items list is for whatever reason puts me either completely at the front of the list or right there close to it?! NOTHING IS MORE AGGRAVATING than to be so far into your list (it literally takes hours...) just to have to carefully scroll through trying not to click on any (which the reason why I’m scrolling so far back in the first place is to find the items to relike them back to the front of the list) Which brings me to question; there’s literally no other way to make the “likes items” other than this way it’s being done now? Like I don’t really know what other way to do it but the way it is now makes it extremely hard to go back through and look at the items I’ve saved.. The 2nd is searching things!! Why on earth can’t you search a user by either their email or by the name they’ve givin on their account???? Other than those two things I have absolutely NOTHING remotely close to negative about this app! I LOVE IT!!!!!!

I would give this app a negative star rating but 1 is the lowest I can go. If you want to take a chance losing money, or losing the item your trying to sell then this is the app for you. I recently made a sale on Mercari and the item that I sold was brand new and never taken out of the package. Once it was sold I shipped it to the buyer who, when received it, requested a return. Mercari approved the return without ever telling me the reason to why it was being returned. But that was ok with me because it wouldn’t cost me anything and I could just resale it when I got it back. When the item returned back to me I noticed the box was torn so I looked inside, and the buyer had just replaced the new item that I had sent with a used item that he already had. So I reached out to Mercari to let them know what happened. Mercari told me that I was wrong and that the item I sent was returned back to me in the same condition. I asked for them to explain to me how they had determined this, but they just ignored me. I sent 5 more inquiries asking them to give me some kinda explanation. The first 4 inquiries I sent were ignored, the 5th one was answered by stating they weren’t going to do anything about it. Then they closed the case making it where I could not send any more inquiries from my account about that item. Unless you enjoy getting ripped off, my advice is to use another selling tool other than Mercari.

I use and have tried using many selling apps. This one is by far my favorite for many reasons. I've been using it for about half a year now with over 300 reviews. The percentage they take may seem like a lot at first but it's definitely worth it. I like that when people make offers it's easy to communicate with them through private message instead of all conversations being public like some other apps. It's very easy to list, and I can quickly list items now that I'm used to it. Every time I've had an issue with a transaction or a question, they've quickly responded back (even on weekends). It's not an issue to me that there's no number to call because I always get a personalized answer to my questions. This selling app by far has the most superior customer service. Even though it's my favorite, there are some flaws. Areas to improve: 1. sometimes the app takes a while to load when first opening it (pictures won't show). 2. It would be helpful if they started some kind of authenticity check for very expensive designer items. 3. It would be nice to have a cheaper shipping option for under 0.5 lbs (categories for 0-0.5 lbs, 0.5-1.5, 1.5-3, 3-5, and the rest of the current categories). I usually have to do my own shipping for these items to help buyers with cost but this takes more time obviously.
No Seller protection

I sold a Louis Vuitton speedy in fair condition for a fair price. The buyer changed her mind about the bag. All sale are supposed to be final , unless the item was different than described. Well the buyer decided to slash 3 of the 4 corners of my bag , in an attempt to get a refund ,,based on the slashes not being disclosed in the description. They were not disclosed because they did not exist. Mecari immediately approved the refund and issued the refund before I was able to dispute it. Even tho I immediately disputed it once the bag arrived back to me and I saw what she had done. I have been back and fourth with customer service via chat on the app. Which is not live. So I wait and wait and wait for a reply each time I pled my case. Long story short,, there is no protection for you as a seller. This person could have sent me back a bag of jelly beans ,,, but as soon as the item is marked delivered,,,, case closed. The criminals and scammers that may be using this app also get your name and address from the shipping when you sell or buy something. Which in my case is not so bad because I plan to take this person to court. That’s if it’s even a real name. Mercari has been no help at all. I’ve been sent messages apologizing that the transaction did not go as I would have like.... uh no it didn’t. No compensation for the damage to my bag. If you sell anything at all... don’t let it be anything of value. If you buy something, you’re still taking a gamble.

I have dealt with two people so far that do not rate, what so ever, at first i had to wait 48 hours and then Mercari would send them a notification. Now I have to wait 72. It is really frustrating having to wait over a week for the person to receive their package to get paid but then I have to wait even longer for the person to rate me and the fact that I have to wait even longer for them to rate in order to get paid is so dumb. Not does that take forever but once you transfer your funds to your bank account that in itself takes anywhere from 3 days to a week. So you don’t end up getting paid until like a month after you sell something even though you have done your part. Not only that but you as a seller can’t rate a person at all when Mercari sends the money through if they don’t rate. Therefore, there are most likely so many more people that don’t rate and you will never know because your not allowed to rate a person once the transaction is complete. I should be able to rate someone if they didn’t take the opportunity to rate me so I can get paid. What’s even more frustrating is when it’s the people who have sold items before, who know that you can’t get paid until they rate you and they still don’t rate.

This is an awesome way to get rid of unwanted items. You post the things you want to sell, ship it, wait for your rating, and then you get the cash! One thing that’s really cool is that they create the shipping label for you! (This comes in handy for me because I’m a first time seller!) I’ve loved having this app so far, I’ve made some good money in the past couple of months from it. Issues I had at first where not knowing how to deposit the money I made from Mercari, into my bank account. I think it’d be pretty awesome for them to walk people through it when they make their first sale. Just so people know how to get their money. Also, when you really get into the habit of selling items on here, but sure that you don’t need the money you made RIGHT away because their process to transfer money takes a while. So that’s another small improvement I would make as well! A faster transfer process. Another thing, I think that it’s great they implement buyer/seller protection, so to go even further with this, another suggestion I have is to allow more photos to be taken on high end items. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if something is legitimate or not because there’s only 4 pictures. Certain items need more proof! 😊 This ensures that people are buying and selling authentic products. Besides this, I love Mercari. This app is totally worth the download!!
USPS Kills this app

I want to give this app 5 stars as it protects the buyers and sellers from fraud. It’s gaining popularity and you can find an enormous amount of deals. The reason why I gave it the title “USPS kills this app” is because my local USPS Mail carrier thinks it’s ok to mark my delivery as delivered and I always get it a few days later, mind you, you only get three days to rate your seller before your payment automatically gets released to the seller. Yes Mercari is the middle man here and doesn’t release the payment to the seller until you check your product out and give them a thumbs up by way of rating the seller (awesome). You can now see how having a mail carrier like mine that thinks it’s ok to mark deliveries as delivered beforehand, especially when there’s a chance you are nearing a holiday!! You can hold your breath and throw some salt over your shoulder to hope your item is as described by the seller because one day to review may not be enough (but better than nothing I suppose). Mercari does try to help you though, if you contact support and let them know you haven’t received your item even though your mail carrier says it was... and stay on high alert looking for your item to review and rate... they will actually hold the funds for you until you receive the item. Hope this review helps someone who is experiencing the same. Thanks Mercari for understanding.

This app is great to sell and buy from! I’ve sold many items such as clothing I no longer wear or decor that’s no longer used. And in return I can use the balance to buy new clothes from the app. The shipping is high, which is why I always keep my prices super low. There’s always room for improvement in the app. It would be nice to send pictures of my items through the messages, I needed to send a picture to a buyer after she bought something because I noticed a defect with the product I didn’t see before. She asked for a picture but there was no way to send one to her after she’d bought the item. So I had to cancel the transaction, edit the pictures and wait for her to be refunded so she can repurchase. Maybe if there’s a way to take pictures through the messages section, that would be great! Especially if someone wants more pictures of a clothing item that you may not want to add to your listing, you could just send the pictures through messages! Also, it would be nice to use another system of payment, such as sending checks or using paypal! I’m too afraid to give out my bank info so I just use my earnings to purchase through the app! Other than that I’ve no problems with Mercari, it’s a great selling app with a good system!

I should start off by saying I loved this app. Yes, I got rude buyers occasionally but that’s with any selling site. Also this site has a lot of rules and regulations. Which is fine, just make sure you know them. Unfortunately I wasn’t aware of all them. I had a buyer that wanted to purchase from me. She lives in another country but has a forwarding shipping company here in the states. I was aware of all of this considering the buyer purchased from me more than once. I recommended we try Mercari because the shipping would be cheaper. The transaction went through no problem. Printed my shipping label and dropped it off at the pack & ship by my house. Only to find out later Mercari canceled the transaction! I tried to get my package back but couldn’t. The buyer was nice to pay me for the item that I sent. I tried messaging Mercari several times only to be told they don’t accept those shipping places. I even tried to pay Mercari for the shipping label used only to end up getting my own account suspended. No warnings.. no emails explaining that the behavior was against there rules. And out of 7 customer reps I emailed asking the same question did I finally get an answer regarding the package and shipping label I used. All the rest just emphasized my account was suspended. & this was five days AFTER the packaged got sent out. Good thing the buyer paid me! Needs better customer service & more warnings instead of immediately suspending accounts.

This app is great for selling and buying! You can find a lot of amazing and unique stuff for REALLY low prices. Selling is simple and straightforward. However, before the update sellers were able to view and reach out to people that “like” their items. Giving sellers the opportunity to follow up in effort to make a sale and/or offer discounts. Before the update, buyers were able to view the tags that sellers used to draw them in. When buying an item, I felt the tags gave insight to details that weren’t necessarily included in the title or description...As descriptions can often be too short or uninformative. I also noticed, and this may not be related to update, but the app would give a coupon for $1-$5 off or 5-10% off any item once you have sold an item. I think it was an insensitive to use seller balance to purchase on the app. When I was getting coupons, I was almost always feeding my balance back into the app by making purchases. Now, I haven't been getting them anymore so I've been transferring balance to my bank account. I think this app can wipe a lot of others completely off the map because it's just far more user-friendly and prices/seller fees/shipping is so much less! Overall, I give this app an A+ but BEFORE this recent update, it was much better.

I’m a five star active seller/ buyer, with 140 transactions. I used to love using this app. I was on it, more than I was on Facebook, from what my Data report read. From what it was in 2016, to what it is now, it’s become really annoying. Sometimes sellers don’t realize shipping an item them selves, is cheaper than Mercari flat rates. I stopped selling, because of the interest rates that apply. When I first started, all the money I made from my sales, went directly to me. That was nice. The app constantly tries to get you to come back with small cheap coupons like $3 or $5 to an item, as long as it’s over $15 sometimes, before shipping costs. I’ve been kicked off the site in the past, was able to reach out through Facebook messenger and the problem was resolved. I had to help my cousin fight to get her money for an iPhone she sold, that someone stayed they never received. Mercari said they’d investigate. My cousin lost. I had to do my own investigation, write out all the facts, stating the weight of the item is on every receipt of a package sent. If the package was empty like the buyer claimed, it wouldn’t have weighed more than a pond for an empty small box. Crappy investigation on their part. With my help, she won and the money was turned over to her. It was a headache. Because of that, my cousin never sold on the site again. I think they’re too overwhelmed with how fast pace the app is, and even with all the updates, the site is still garbage.

Previously, I had been using eBay to sell items but kept coming up in the negative every month being overtaken by crazy fees. I found mercari by googling ‘where to sell your used clothing’, I was kind of skeptical but I liked the fact that there was no listing fee, just a selling fee after your item sold, which seemed reasonable! Also, the postage fees are set, so they are the same every time based on the weight of your package. I wasn’t sure how well it would work out with payment being contingent on your buyers rating of the item once received, I worried about letting my item go and then never receiving anything but I have had zero problem so far! I only started selling in January but so far I have seen profit from this :) I think Mercari has an excellent system and they are very good at making sure it runs smoothly. It has been a pleasant surprise so far and the BEST thing about Mercari? ACTUAL customer service that offers a way to contact by email and then ACTUALLY RESPONDS!! I am one of those people who always has questions and you cannot know how much I appreciate being able to ask and always getting a quick, thorough response! I can’t wait until Mercari passes all the competition and is known as the NEW number one selling app! :)
Trading system and Bugs

This app is great. I love using it and get on at least everyday. But I would want to recommend one thing; a trading system. I think that this could be done while you are creating a listing and you can choose if that listing is open for trade. When someone is viewing the listing similar to the button for purchase there could be an offer trade, same for in the messages within the offer button there should be a choice for trades but only being able to offer what you have on your listing. Shipping should be paid buy both traders. If this some sort of trading system would be implemented into the app that would be great. On another note, I have been experiencing many bugs while on this app. On my device I am a part of the beta software program for iOS which possibly may be the reasons for this issue. The issue is that I can not open any listings or open any of my own items I am selling. As I open the app everything refreshes fine but as soon as I press a listing or look at my sale items the app kind of freezes for a little but then doesn’t do anything. As I try to press around on another listing the images of the past listing I pressed on keeps coming up not allowing me to view listings I am interested in.

It’s an okay app for buying and selling. The only thing I don’t like about the selling part is the shipping part. You either ship thru fedex or pay for your own shipping if you want to ship by usps. I don’t have a Fedex drop box located near me and usps is literally blocks away from my house. if I wanted to ship thru fedex I would have to travel across the city & spend more time in traffic & waste fuel which costs more money in the long run. Fedex will not pick up packages from your location, you must send the package to their facility unlike usps where you can have them pick up from your location. As a seller, I’ve only sold a couple of items since I started using this app a little over 6 months ago. Since after the first month of using this app I haven’t sold anything. basically I’ve stuck with poshmark & ebay for selling my items. I would love to continue to sell on this app but I cannot give my items away because of the low balling from the buyers. Second thing is that i’ve noticed a lot of sellers are posting stock photos of the items they’re selling and not of the actual item. I want to be able to see the product the persons selling and because of how the seller is not providing an actual photo of the item they’re selling, they’ve lost a sell from me because IDK what the condition of the item is or the actual color of the items. Plus these sellers don’t respond to my questions.

I like this app and I have sold quite a lot of things on it. Even things I never thought I would be able to sell! However, out of all the apps I sell on (Vinted, Poshmark & Mercari), I do not like Mercari’s rating system. It seems flawed to me that people can give you less than a 5 star rating but not have to explain why. When I receive a random 3 star rating without any explanation, I would like to know the reason behind it! I take pride in having 114 5 star reviews so I want to do everything I can to fix the problem or know feedback when I am given a rating less than 5 stars. I would like to be able to have a chance to defend myself or figure out the reason why. So, a seller rates me 3 stars then blocks me so that I can’t message them to ask about it, or buy anything from their closet even if I wanted to. How is that allowed or even considered fair? It’s kind of an unjust rating system. Especially because you can’t see what you have been rated as a seller until the buyer rates you. You could be rated 1 star by a really rude, unfair buyer and not know it until you have rated them 5 stars. I feel like the rating system could definitely improve in that if you leave less than a 5 star review, you should have to actually write out a reason why and give the person a chance to explain (like on Vinted) instead of just leaving 3 or 2 stars.

So let’s take a stroll down my latest adventure with this app. I downloaded it the other day and have been looking around it until I found something I wanted to buy. Low and behold I found something I want. So I have to input my address for shipping and obvious reasons, ok that should be easy! So I go on and put in my info and hit finished . . . Cannot find address.. ok weird so I try it a different way and then a few others changing 1s to ones and so forth but still the same result. Alright so I’m a little flustered by this but let’s see if I can get help from their help center. Now brace yourself this is the part that really put my privates (for the kids) in a vice. I searched the help center for this problem didn’t find it so I checked other areas of it to no avail. Ok so then I click contact us thinking surely they can assist me directly. But guess what, it takes me straight back to the help center!!!! No email no phone number to contact not even a recommendation to their website ( if they have one) NOTHING. I really took every step within this app I could think of and they proved to me their customer service ranks lower than any I’ve ever had the pleasure of being able to contact.. So GL TLDR- Id rather be put on hold with Comcast all day.

as a big collector of littlest pet shops, i downloaded this app in search of some cheap *authentic* rare lps. i made many purchases with them and they were all smooth. Until one time this woman posted a picture that she stole from an lps instagram page and claimed it was hers and that she was selling that specific authentic lps for a really cheap price. i bought the lps, she told me it was authentic, i recieved it and was very disappointed to find it was not authentic. (authentic of this lps costs $50-$100, a fake costs about $2 off ebay. i payed $20 for the lps i bought from her, so it was a very good deal.) anyways i messaged the lady very nicely and told her that the lps was fake. she *flipped* out on me saying i was a scammer and i was somehow attempting to scam and take my money back without sending her "precious lps". so i filed a scam report with mercari explaining my situation and, rather quickly, a return was scheduled. the lady still was accusing me of scamming and kept saying that she would expose me rada rada, but after she recieved the lps i recieved all my money back, and everything went well. thanks mercari for carrying out these scammers very smoothly and effectively. i continue to use this app and their scam protection is way better than ebays.
Mercari is great when it comes to buying, but it’s selling options are sorta mixed.

The aspect of Mercari’s buying system is perfect. You can get some fast deliveries within a couple of days depending on who you are buying from. It’s really hard to get scammed on this app, so you will 90% get the item you want. Refunds are allowed at all times which is great. You can actually set up offers. Everything on the buying aspect is perfect. However selling off items is sorta frustrating. Usually with these apps like Depop and Grailed, you get the money as soon as you sell an item. That’s a different story with Mercari. You don’t get the money until the sold item is delivered. I dislike waiting for almost an entire week just to get a measly twenty dollars. I want the money as soon as I put it in shipping. Having to wait awhile for this to happen makes it hard for sellers to enjoy the app, because truly it is an amazing app. Why not make it perfect by allowing sellers to get the money up front? If people are worried about scammers, they can look at a users account and get a good look to see if they are trustworthy. A lot of the people on here are very friendly and deserve to get their money up front. In conclusion, it has a small flaw, and like people like me, we deserve our money for selling off our prized possessions. 4/5

Ive been selling on Mercari since the beginning of January. I’ve had pretty decent experiences with making sales and what not, however it is really upsetting that when you get a rating of a 1 star (that you feel was not deserved at all and your buyer has written that myself as the seller tried to “rip them off”) that you cannot defend yourself! I take pride in my 5 star ratings that when I get a rating of anything less I’d love to be able to reach out to the buyer through messages to try and make the situation better for them that way I’m not being told in the ratings section that I am ripping someone off when I have not and do not ever intend to do anything like that and possibly ruin any future sales I could have from other people due that negative review. Mercari’s promotional limits are also very annoying. Poshmark does not limit the amount of times I can promote my items, why does Mercari? If I am trying to make a sale I constantly update my prices so that way l can attract more buyers to my items and have more transactions. The final thing I feel like Mercari needs to improve is the amount of time it takes to get the balance of money from sales processed in order to transfer it to my bank account, it feels like it takes forever! Other than those few things I love the app and intend to continue to sell on it!

I downloaded this app about a week ago and its seemed amazing and all the deals were great and I was very happy with the way everything was laid out and how I was buying directly from people, BUT I’ve encountered issues that confuse me very much. #1 I was trying to buy an item and the buyer said “just kidding” and cancelled the order, why is that allowed? (I received my money back) #2 I was attempting to buy another item and I paid for it, and the seller shipped the item but out of nowhere Mercari THEMSELVES cancelled the order and refunded the money *no reason was given* and then I got another notification that my, and I quote, “account was cancelled” for some reason about the app not serving “US Territories” WHAT. #3 I sold an item to someone in Florida and the item went through and everything was fine but now that my account has been “cancelled” HOW AM I GOING TO GET MY PAYMENT!?!?!? This whole situation seems off and annoying because very little explanation is given for any action taken. #4 There is no way to directly contact anyone at Mercari. Any time you go to the ‘Help’ section they only give you FAQ instead of something helpful!! I need to know what is going on with my account and how I am going to get my payment and why I can’t use the app anymore. Everything just seems sketchy and need a response for why this is going on. I would greatly appreciate an explanation from Mercari.

I love this buy/sell marketplace! You can search AND locate many HTF items at fabulous prices! This forum is pocketbook friendly!!! Additionally, you WILL discover other items of interest here as well! These are some additional facts which make Mercari exceptional: Their Customer Service is top rate! It’s very easy to contact these bright individuals! Communication is clear and informative. You can rest assured you’ll get a quick, fair and intelligent reply as to resolving any concerns a buyer or seller might encounter. Here’s another service they have recently implemented. Unfortunately, sellers from many websites across the board get away with advertising an item for sale which is no longer available. Meaning they’ve sold it somewhere else to an individual willing to pay more money than the listed price! Yet, they won’t admit this because....it’s wrong! So they string other buyers along until the waiting period expires, obligating management to deliver the disappointing news the order is cancelled! Thus the company loses credibility, customers and potential business due to these nefarious acts. Mercari has cracked down on unscrupulous sellers. Disciplinary action is taken in order to provide a safe and legal environment for EVERYONE! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I love mercari. Ever since i found out about it i haven’t used any other app to sell. I began using mercari when they didn’t even charge a selling fee. I still use it considering they only want 10% which is worth it. The only thing i would like to see changed on the app is how sensitive it is when listing. What i mean by that is i would post an authentic item and they would just take it down for some reason for fraud or something like that. Also i feel they should look into a seller’s background before just shutting down accounts. I had 75 GREAT ratings and one person reported me for whatever reason and they banned me. Of course i got another account because like i said i love mercari and for two my account was shut down for no reason. I would also like if they let you use your bank information on a different account once you take it off a previous account. The last thing that would make mercari a great place to sell if somehow you could instantly get access to your funds if you chose direct deposit. If not that i feel there should be more than one payout day. Other than that i would highly recommend using mercari to buy/sell your items. Keep up the good work Mercari!
Deactivating listings for no reason?

Got a notification today saying that a few of my “old” listings were being deactivated because they were “inactive” and that I should take a moment to review them so that I don’t miss out on sales. They send me a list of 20+ listings that THEY deactivated on my behalf, without my permission. One in particular that I posted only a month ago was deactivated, yet older listings beyond that one were still kept active! Also a listing was deactivated that had been recently getting likes, and I even promoted it to likers just this morning (before Mercari decided to deactivate it). This could’ve potentially made me miss out on a sale, had I not reactivated it after seeing this stupid notification. So I’d like to know how that listing could possibly be considered “inactive” when it’s getting likes and being promoted? If this is going to be continuously happening with my listings, then I may just not use this app to sell anymore. If you can tell that I am ACTIVELY using the app, my listings are getting likes, and I’m obviously keeping track of my own stuff... then LET ME MAINTAIN MY LISTINGS ON MY OWN. This isn’t my first rodeo, I can handle it without your intervention. Oh and I tried reaching out to customer service before leaving a review but after going through the different tiers to “contact us” I eventually landed on a “Sorry, page not found” error. You should probably fix that.

BE CAREFUL, IT JUST HAPPENED TO ME! I made a purchase several days ago and was checking to see when I was going to received when to my surprise the app show that I already receive the item the day before! I check the mail, talk to the seller and in her app it show the same! So we decided to contact Mercari. Unfortunately the answer was what worries me more because it made it clear that Jeremie didn’t really pay attention to my issue! He told me that was a “automated message”, I know what that look like and this was completely different, THE APP SHOW THAT I HAVE THE ITEM, THE STATUS IS “DELIVERED” AND IT’S AWAITING RATING! As everybody knows after 3 days they can release payment. So it could happened that they release the payment before you even have a chance not just to receive it, but to inspected and check that it is exactly what you paying for! What it worries me more it’s the dismissive and patronizing tone of the answer of the responsable parties, as I say before. So be careful! There is a lot of amazingly nice people out there, but there is also the ones that are waiting the chance to take advantage of every chance they get! OBVIOUSLY NOT GOING TO USE THIS APP ANYMORE AND DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYBODY TO DO IT!

Makes it really easy to list, sell, and buy. The only issue I have with the app is the pay. Once the item is purchased, the item is shipped to buyer who checks out product and rates the seller via Mercari. Rating is when and how you get paid!! If buyer does not rate, after 3 days Mercari rates. (Mercari had the funds since the transaction took place but wont release til rating minus 10% fee) You do not receive funds until rating is complete.......and when i say receive funds, funds are added to your Mercari balance to purchase items on Mercari! Second option once you have a balance is transfer amount to your bank via EFT (Sunday was the cut off day....no matter what day, you get it sometime Monday thru Wednesday or even later) Anything over $10 is free to transfer but under $10 transfer is a $2 charge.....app has been updated to allow seller to cash out whenever. I have tested it out and the wait time is just as bad as before. I requested the money and didn't receive it til 5 days later. (My bank releases funds as soon as they are received unlike some banks that place holds on incoming money.) Mercari has pros and cons as with everything in life. In my case, the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
My experience with Mercari Customer service has always been positive.

With the exception of a few rare decent Sellers who I’ve encountered on Mercari, or eBay, and/or Poshmark, etc.,., ...I’ve lost almost all trust in the reliability and integrity, dependability in Mercari Sellers - as well as eBay, Poshmark, etc.,. It’s only because of the positive, successful experiences I’ve had in dealing with Mercari customer service representatives who have always displayed the same consistent respectful, considerate, successful and reliable results, and always in a timely manner that I continue to utilize any online shopping app. I’ve not had a situation yet where mercari customers service representatives didn’t work speedily to successfully remedy the problems I’ve encountered from having dealt with dishonest, inconsiderate, unreliable, and inconsiderate Sellers. I have found Mercari customer service representatives to be reliable and understanding and persistently successful — that they continue to provide me with the sense of security needed for me to continue online shopping with a sense of ease. And, I sincerely thank you for that because reliability and consideration these days are rare commodities, God knows. Be blessed always in The Holy Name of The Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, amen.

I enjoy using this app to sell everything from a spectrum of unused, unwanted, used, and handmade items. I’ve sold more items on this app than other selling apps. There are a few concerns that have made me second guess using Mercari. Things such as the long wait for receiving our funds. It takes too long to wait for items that I have sold to ship to the buyers, then I have to wait less than a week to have the money deposited into my account. Another thing I don’t like about Mercari is the way we receive ratings from our buyers. In order to receive our monies, we have to rate our buyer and have no idea what kind of rating we will get as sellers. I could be giving a buyer a “great” rating and he or she could be giving me as a seller a “good” or “poor” WITHOUT having me as a seller redeem myself for something that is out of my control once I ship the product. Some buyers don’t even give an explanation. If Mercari changed this to allowing us as sellers see their ratings before we close the transaction, we can help not only ourselves but the buyers as well. This allows sellers by explaining ourselves why the shipping was late or if they would accept another item in return of what they received, it will help us as sellers grow and become better for future buyers.

Starting out I loved this app. Easy to sell stuff I don’t wear/use but when I finally encountered a problem I realized how terrible their customer service is. I sold a pair of authentic True Religion shorts. I opened the app one day to find that the buyer requested a refund, mercari gave them the refund but did not have them send the item back. I was completely unaware of why the refund was requested and issued I do days after when the buyer finally responded to my message. The buyer claimed the shorts were not authentic. But they were... so obviously I want them back. I messaged the buyer multiple times with no response for days. I tried to go through the mercari help AND IT IS RIDICULOUS. They only offer FAQ. if your problem is not on there, you will not receive any answers. Any response I got told me to tell the buyer to go through mercari help to start a refund. But the buyer insists that I send them some kind of shipping label because they already did the refund through mercari instruction and were not told to return them. I now haven’t heard any other response from the buyer and mercari help IS NO HELP. So they got a FREE pair of authentic true religion shorts. Not to mention mercari fees are over the top. You’d think with the fees they charge they would actually have good customer service. But no. ZERO STARS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!

I don’t usually write reviews. However for Mercari I have made an exception. While not a seller at this time, this is only spoken from the buyers point of view. I absolutely love it! This may actually be an addiction. I have to put some daily time in just checking it out. With my notifications on I can keep up with my liked items and categories of interest, which is straight and to the point. What makes it so likable and unique is the fact that you have to agree with the purchase being as described (within 3 days of an item or items’ receipt), or your money is refunded. Now that’s fair! It keeps the sellers on point and the buyers not stuck with money losses. I can’t personally speak on what happens next if this happens to you because I haven’t had this experience. All of my items have been just as described. Hopefully you’ll be able to agree. I have told everyone about Mercari. I don’t use any other buying sites before I check first with what’s here. The ease of it all: fair selling practices; great deals that I have found; speedy shipping and customer service all keep me being a big fan!! I love it! Hope you will too!!!

I love Mercari and I am a very successful seller but this newest version takes it a huge step back especially for sellers. Previous versions allowed sellers to communicate with folks who hit the like button and gave valuable information about people who liked your item I don’t even know why you tell us who likes our items when we are not allowed to communicate with them not allowed to click on their profile not allowed to follow them! why even show us pictures or tell us anything? and why ever give us the ability to communicate proactively when you are taking it away? it’s a huge step backwards. I made many sales when I very very politely interacted with my buyers first. I think it was the nudge they needed to purchase. This would benefit mercari because it makes more sales for you guys otherwise people ignore notifications! I know I do. they are more inclined to answer a direct message from somebody. I would appreciate you bringing back the previous format. It just does not give us sellers enough information to even care if anyone likes our stuff or not. The promoter button does not do enough either especially if you were selling stuff that’s under $10. Thank you for listening to my Feedback. Hopefully you will consider this in your next update.

I used to love mercari. It was easy to use. I agree with other reviews that the rules were and have always been suffocating, but I made do. I used this app for years making good amounts of money and recommended it to everyone. It was almost like a 2nd job for me. Then they changed.. and in more ways than 1. Mercari used to give you your full credit of sales. If I sold something for the minimum price that they offer of $3, I got all of that $3. But then they turned into every other second hand selling company.. they began to take your profits. So if I made a $3 sale, I then made $2.70. Yes, only a couple of cents loss, but when you’re selling in the mass amounts I was it added up quick! Mercari was officially no different than any other app or company out there where you sold your items. I got it though. They need their cut too. I got over it. Then they began to complicate things beyond belief. You used to be able to comment on post, now you can only private messege them. Comments were so much better. You could see past questions other interested buyers asked and the answers. You could see pat offers made. Mercari continually changed and “updated” their app consistently making it more and more complicate. It gets to the point now where I end up cancelling most of my sales because it’s not even worth it anymore. I wish they would go back.

I thought this app was amazing, a great way to make some extra cash off stuff you just had laying around and in the back of your closet. I ended up making about $350 in a matter of a month or so. So I thought it was great until I recieve a message about my account being closed because I am under 18. I am 17 and 8 months and in order to collect my sales I had to verify my ID. So I did so using my drivers license. When I get the notification that my account has been closed it says to contact them when I am of age. And that I will have to wait to receive my $90 remaining in my account. This is complete BS. It pretty sure if I can legally operate a vehicle that I should be able to sell a shirt for $5 online. Bottom line is that I will NOT be redownloading this app or reccomending it to anybody, Infact I will be doing the opposite and warning people of the scammous nature of this app. It is legal for a 15 year old to work and a 7 year old to sell lemonade as well as send mail so tell me, why in the world can a person who is 3 months away from being 18 and moving out to live on their own to sell clothes for tag sale prices online to make themselves extra money??? This app is ridiculous, find a different way to sell because this is not an ethical way not to mention they take 10% of your proceeds. Rip off and scam. I also think it is very scary that they terminate my account AFTER they get my debit card on file.

Mercari is a nice selling and buying app, HOWEVER as a seller I really wish it was much simpler and quicker to post your items for sale rather than go through all the descriptive steps it requires before you can post anything! It literally takes hours just to post up to ten items and it drains my battery!!! Hardly worth the hassle unless you have a lot to get rid of and are trying to earn some extra cash. Let a few pictures and a brief description be enough as people can see what color, brand , & condition the items are in through all those pictures which tell you all that info about the item without having to type it all up in multiple description areas!!! Also why do you have to continually post items often for your listings page to stay fresh and seen by lots of people rather than get lost in the shuffle if you don’t post frequently?? Can’t there be a better way of keeping our listings refreshed and continually rotating back to the top so to speak?? And all those fees, WHEW!!! (sellers fees) and extra charges (prepaid shipping labels fees, etc...) Not sure how long I’ll be using this app, might be looking for a cheaper, better, more user friendly selling app... but on the plus side of things I’m finally selling some of my stuff!! So we’ll see how things go...

Although I like that Mercari has taken it upon themselves to request a rating after no response in 48hrs, and then after 72hrs (which is still too long) will release the funds so you get paid, however I dislike the fact that they have taken away You’re ability be able to rate the people who didn’t rate you and give the reason why they have received a poor rating. there are no more consequences for people who ignore the rating procedures. I think they would be more likely to do better, if people started questioning wether they should buy from them or not. After all that’s what the rating is about right? I like the new badges system, but Does not rating someone effects that, if it does..great, but my last two transactions ended with a rating request and a fund release and then me not getting to rate the buyers failure to rate. Kinda frustrating. You should also receive your due rating (if you mailed the item on time and they didn’t respond you should be given a 5 star rating by Mercari I look at the number of rating on sellers pages too, that helps me see how many things they have sold. Bigger numbers= more experience AND you should get your star if you did your part.

I give this app a 2 star, since I'm already running into problems. First time selling an item was a success. No issues whatsoever. I just recently sold my second item, and buyer hasn't been responding for a few days now to give me a proper rating or just let me know that their item has safely arrived, then I contacted Mercari through every platform they have to see if they could help me. (Note: their number brought me to Ford? It was definitely not Mercari, I made sure the number was correct. Also, email is different on site from when they are giving it out in comments or on reviews.)No reply yet, so I sent a rating request hoping that I get my funds on this second item. On the app it states that if the buyer hasn't given rating, they will automatically send you a rating request. By the same token, when you are making an issue about your rate it has to meet a certain criteria in order send a request. I really hope they reply, but honestly my patience is getting thin I might just delete my account and never regret it. If you're looking to sell on this app or even buy something you might like, THINK TWICE! It will save you SO MUCH time money and yourself from being scammed by seller, buyer or possibly the people behind this app, Mercari! I hope this review helps even more for those who need it!

im an experienced seller and have sold many, many items within the past five months ive been selling. this app, at first, seemed really great! i sold FAST. but there are just SO many rules and restrictions that its suffocating. i cant mention “paypal” or any other platforms without being warned or suspended, and thats ridiculous. the app, for crying out loud, uses paypal as a method of payment BUT YOU CANT TRANSFER MONEY FROM YOUR BALANCE TO YOUR PAYPAL. nice. and guess what? Californians cant even use THEIR BALANCE. my account has been suspended for the second time and is going to be terminated once my last purchase gets here. absolutely ridiculous. i personally use depop and its great. better than most apps i’ve tried. the community for the most part is great and they DO have rules and regulations, but youre FREE to do whatever you want. you can say “swap,” “trade,” and you can mention other platforms. mercari would be great if they werent so hooked on monitoring messages and suspending accounts for stupid reasons. i put items up for sale and my description said: “taking offers, starting price is ___” and al of my posts got taken down! what kind of crap is that? and then i get my account suspended because someone asked if i sold on ebay and said no, i sell on depop. the only reason i started selling on mercari is because a depop user MENTIONED MERCARI ON THAT SITE. geez. hate this app. its good, believe me, the community is big, but the service is horrible.

I have been using Mercari to buy and sell items for about 10 months now. Most of the transactions are positive and I have enjoyed the experience overall and most of the people who use the app are very kind and honest, however, there are quite a few scammers. I have been scammed three times by people selling fake jewelry items as real. I make and sell jewelry and it’s usually cheaper to buy supplies and scrap silver on apps like Mercari, but they do NOTHING about scammers. They either go ahead and pay the seller and refund the buyer, or simply remove a review that had already been left. The sellers continue to sell fake stuff!! I was shocked by the responses I received from customer service. There are LITERALLY no consequence for scammers. There was a incident where a woman suspected her neighbors of stealing the jewelry I sent her as the package was empty when she opened it, and she was very nice about the entire thing. I reported the incident to Mercari, offering a full refund to the buyer, and instead they paid us both and sent me a nasty message telling me to package my items better. I have been consistently rated very high on packaging and everything was as secure as reasonably possible. I was disgusted by how I was treated. I have been using this app for almost 1 year for both buying and selling. As a buyer I have no issue with the app (except the fact that shipping appears to be more expensive compared to comparable items on Poshmark or eBay). As a seller however I am highly disappointed resulting in no longer feeling comfortable selling items with Mercari. If a problem arises during a sale, damage occurring during shipping for example, Mercari does not stand behind its promise to support its sellers. Reaching customer service is extremely difficult with significant delays in responses. In the 3 instances I reached out to them they were found to be less then willing to help or care for that matter in all instances. On my final issue I attempted to reach out to their customer service via phone hoping that talking to a representative in person would have a more favorable outcome. Nope. The customer service rep on the phone informed me they had no options what so ever and all issues would have to be escalated to a chat representative. Reaching back out to the chat representative I was informed there was nothing more they could do and would be closing my complaint. The outcome of this issue was a loss in income from the sale and not having the option to have the item returned to me. How this is not considered theft is beyond me. I will no longer be selling items using the Mercari app and I strongly advise other sellers to follow suit.

Mercarí is a lot easier to use than eBay. Since I’ve discovered my car I have a mess up on here almost every day looking for new bargains. They only charge you 10% if you list something and that’s only after it sells. They don’t charge a fee to post items. When you buy something and it was not as described, you don’t have any fears of being cheated because you can simply request to return it. They don’t get payment until after it’s approved by you, the buyer. I’m enjoying it and have recommended it to others. I’ve had one bad experience so far though. I made an offer to a seller for less than her asking price. She declined. I bought it at her asking price. She later canceled the transaction and sent me a nasty message telling me how terrible I was for making her an offer even though the “make offer” button is right there under the listing. She blocked me before I could even respond so I couldn’t rate her stating she doesn’t want to do business with people like me. I didn’t realize trying to buy her item made me a bad person. Customer service did nothing when I asked how I could rate her as a seller. I think I should’ve been allowed to rate her.

There are some buyers that are sweet and some that are very rude, that’s what happens to all selling sites. But on his specific site, they get irate/postal for a messily item that’s below $10. If I don’t get to your reply, it’s not that I’m ignoring you, it’s just that I’m not notified that someone has messaged me until I just so happen to go all the way in the app to check on it. Then when I do my screen turns plain white, I cannot see what they’ve posted until I reset my phone and if anyone use an iPhone knows that it’s really frustrating because it takes so long to reset. The buyers are very impatient, if they order an item, especially on the weekends at wee hours of the night, they expect me to get up and ship it knowing they have to wait later on in the day to ship it or next day. What if I have things to do? Just because the buyer didn’t have anything to do but be bitter all the time does not mean I am in the same state. That’s why the site allows up to 3 days so the buyer can determine whether they want to cancel the item or wait longer. I get blocked because someone thought I sold used personal care items, knowing that’s disgusting and it’s unlike me, but she turns around and sells used makeup....wow. There should be ways to weed out deplorable buyers and sellers too.

As of this date I have nothing but positive things to say about this selling app. It seems they have covered about everything there is for it to be THE selling place. The app is very user friendly, bug free, the customer service is awesome, prompt replies to inquiries, hassel free, platform is awesome and easily navigated. The powers that be behind the app listen to the public on suggestions so it can be more useful and helpful to both buyers as well as sellers. Any changes I have seen within the app have been for the better. I am very happy with Mercari in all aspects and will continue to use this app as a way of buying and selling. Now if only the app could modify some of the people's behavior that use it,that would be great! haha One thing I would like to suggest is this: Whever a user is blocked, could they also be blocked from following you? Ive blocked two people and when they couldnt message me,they followed me and thats creepy. If I blocked them from messaging, I would think it makes sense for them to blocked from all angles. I feel like Im being stalked by these two and any others who may have received a less than stellar and deserved rating.

If there was negative stars to give this app I would! The customer service is terrible, they could care less about the people using their app that make THEM money, and they scam innocent people day in and day out! I used this app for about 2 months, had 37-5 star reviews, and ZERO bad reviews. I shipped about 10 items through them out each day and gave them a great portion of my money. One day I go to transfer my money and they say my account has been suspended! I shipped out about 200$ worth of items that day which they also “canceled” 4 hours after i shipped them. Its funny how my items were sent to their buyers but they just “accidentally” forgot to refund them and just “accidentally” forgot to give me my items back. So yes, they kept my money, as well as the 80$ I received that day to transfer. I have tried emailing them well over 10 times for help, no response! I have called 7 times, every time waiting over 15 minutes for someone to answer! ZERO out of those 7 times has anyone picked up the phone. They gave me no valid explanation on why my account was deleted, all of my items sold were basic household items, why would they do this to me? Mercari is terrible. Plain and simple. DO NOT USE THIS APP! I switched over to ebay. Ebay has amazing customer service, treats their users RIGHT, and are fair. I will repeat it once more, Mercari is downright terrible.
Missed out on a great deal

I started to like the app. Bought something for over $100 sold something for over $200. Probably made Mercari about $30-$40. One late night I negotiated a seller on the best deal ever and the transaction failed because I needed to verify payment. I wasnt able to use my debit card, credit card, Apple Pay or Paypal. I messaged them and they responded with the most complicated procedure. Anyways the item ended up selling to someone els by the time any of it made sense. The procedure was to click “But it now” (this is paying full price not my negotiated price) and it would trigger two small charges in my account but I wouldn't buy it, it would just trigger the verification. Seemed a little shady because when you click “buy it now” it says this cant be undone, but the service rep insisted. Anyways it was too late and they gave me a $5 coupon which is no help since new members get a $10 coupon anyways which I never got and would have got like $100 off that order but its considerate I guess. I use the coupon on a small item just so I can trigger the verification and of course it completes the order instead of triggering the verification. Needless to say Im not using the app anymore. Definitely a personal problem but a huge bug they need to have fixed.

I'm a seller and buyer on a few different apps/sites and Mercari has seemed to be the easiest with the smoothest transactions. Buyers and sellers are held accountable with rules and guidelines as far as when items have to be shipped once purchased, rating sellers and buyers have to be done before funds are released, and any time I've had issues with a package not arriving to me or to my buyer, Mercari has always been helpful through the process. Yes, there are shady folks on this app that will try to say they didn't receive a package or what not but those people are on all sites. All in all, Mercari has been much more simpler than other apps I've used, they do most of the work for you. I rarely cash my funds in because I purchase on the app also so I mostly use my credits to buy things which makes it so simple. As far as getting great deals, this app has been the best for me. Huge community but returning buyers are usually remembered by the sellers and most will give discounts to returning buyers. I'm happy with using the app. I've done over 300 transactions and have only had 3 issues with people or shipping. I use the app daily I'm happy with it.

I love selling items through this app. My main problem is that the new way to set up shipping is very complicated. I miss when you can just tap on the type of shipping based on the type of item. Now you have to have the exact measurements (which is hard when you are selling close and don’t have a box or envelope yet) and the exact weight of the package.
Mercari is absolutely one of my favorite apps.

It’s easy to sell and buy from there. Bought a phone and was able to return it with no problem after finding out that it had some broken feature (flashlight didn’t work all the time). I have found unique things I haven’t found in other apps, the only thing that would be a complaint is that they raised the shipping costs for heavier things on USPS. Such a good app.

The app's technical support lied to me about whether a particular coupon would work on a purchase and When it didn't, I was refused a partial refund despite multiple requests. I have no choice but to bestow this one-star review as a reprimand to the company and a warning to customers.

I decided to give this app a try. I made a listing and it wanted $3 just to list it. Just cause you list it, doesn’t mean it will sell and you’re just out $3 which is too high compared to other selling sites.

You are better off going on the street corner to sell your stuff. Crazy high percentage for selling things, you don’t get paid until the person that bought the item reviews you, and then they charge you again to get your money to your bank account unless you want to wait a week for it to come through. I hope the server for this app explodes and never gets rebuilt.

Here’s the “Real” lowdown on this site and sites like it. If and I so skeptically say “If” these are actually regular Joe’s and Janes or your neighbor’s as this app likes to say smh! They all DRASTICALLY FAIL to realize people are not going to buy used with nothing but a mere 3 day money back guarantee for only a %20 discount! That’s insulting and dog poop! What are people really that cheap they’ll eagerly get duped or ripped off to save $2 to $20? When for the extra money you can buy new with a real warranty from a reputable company who can afford to replace? Not a good app! What would make it good? Well set a cap on what people can ask for their used stuff and don’t set a minimum on offers the buyer can make!

An improvement to the app would include: allowing the seller to still leave a review for “unresponsive buyer after shipment of item”...or something to that effect....buyers that converse until you ship the item and then go silent, and do not leave a rating so you have to wait out the full 3 days for payment.. I’m sure they do this simply to avoid receiving a bad/negative review. Which is really annoying for sellers, especially as one who ships same or next day, and rushes to do so!

I have used this app before with no issues until last week. Ordered 2 items that were being sent together. The seller did not package correctly. I got the items and they are broken. $96 order and I’m still trying to get my money back. I have sent videos, photos of the items, photos of the box, answered every email. Actually had to email customer support twice to even get a response. I made a large purchase and can’t get my money back when it’s clear the item is broken. Use Depop or eBay. They are much quicker and efficient at fixing the issues.

The shipping portion of the app needs redone. When I sold an item it pre printed out a shipping label for me based off previous items like mine. This was convenient Bc I didn’t have to measure the package etc. THE PROBLEM is the printed label has a “mailing date” that’s printed on the label. This date is set 3 days ahead so when I took it to the post office they said their rules don’t allow me to mail it out until that ship date. Fortunately this rule is only enforced by certain post office employees so I was able to go to a different post office to handle the matter. When I contacted Mercari’s customer service they told me their shipping department only contacts via email but they would fast track my request so I could get a new label before the post office closes. I received an email from the “shipping” department 24 hrs later with a response that said “ sorry for the confusion, you have to mail your package 1-3 days after sale” this answer had nothing to do with my request.

If you need the money fast in an unexpected event it doesn’t matter because after you ship you will not get the money until the buyer confirm that it got delivered and leaves a rating. The app tracks the package so the seller and buyer can see where it’s at and when it gets delivered. Iam still waiting to get paid because the buyers has not left a review yet.

I sold my item and shipped it with labels provided by Mercari. And the buyer filed a return request because "he received a different item according to him", before even contacting the seller! And of course Mercari approved the request without even questioning with the seller! I was SO disappointed at this point because not only did I receive any payment or my item back, but because I don't deserve being shown any proof of return approval. The escalation team staff just replied perfunctorily how incapable they are in this situation, and ended my conversation by claiming the case was "resolved"! ------------------ The sellers are so unprotected in this app. I understand dispute could happen in Mercari's business paradigm, as no third-party in the middle can verify the transaction. And when something like this happened, they always treat sellers like trash! So what I learned is, if you want to sell your unused cheapie, do it on Mercari. DON'T SELL ANY VALUABLES.

Buyer Protection Extremely Limited

WARNING: Do not buy on Mercari if planning to use sealed item for gift purposes or you need more then 3 days to assemble and test the item. Once you pass the 3 day mark, it doesn’t matter if you are totally in the right about an issue, Mercari will not assist you and in fact will not even allow a seller to fix the problem as returns or exchanges are not allowed after the 3 day period. In my case, we bought an item to be used as a gift and gave it to our child a few weeks after purchase. The item looked just as it should from the outside, but unfortunately the seller had made a mistake and the item received was totally different then what had been described. This was a good seller that had made an honest mistake, but because more then the 3 days had passed, Mercari will not allow the seller to exchange or return the item. As I was using this item for a gift, I couldn’t fully inspect the item until it was opened by the recipient. Just read the complaints on here and you will see Mercari has the exact same response if you need few days (perhaps you are waiting for a weekend) to assemble a larger purchase. If something is broken or missing, they will not allow a return/exchange simply because it has been more then 3 days, they don’t care about the specifics of the case and will just send you a canned response. I could understand a reasonable limit of time, like 30 days, but 3 days is way too short to allow for real buyer protection. I bought a small item, with limited value, so it is not a big deal, but I can only imagine how badly you could get burned if you bought expensive electronics or something of that nature. It invites seller fraud, as a seller will know that as long as the buyer doesn’t get a chance to fully inspect and test the item in the short 3 day period, they cannot be held accountable to the buyer for their fraud.

Listed an item to sell for a fair price let’s say 20 bucks So now the fun begins... Encourage free shipping but it will cost you 11 bucks Then you have a fee for the listing ,let’s say 3 bucks Then an interest buyer requests a lower price let’s say 18 bucks Item sold.... you make 5 bucks then...... Now you have 5 bucks in and now you want it transferred to your account Your going to get charged 2 bucks That leaves you a profit of 3 bucks Has to be one of the most disappointing transactions ever. Keep the $$$. I know the buyer got a great deal. I don’t want to hang around and see it re listed for stupid money

Worst app. Horrible customer service, only email to phone calls. Refund money back as in app credit, but don’t tell you. Policy clearly says it goes back to your card but mine didn’t. And it expired in 30 days. So they basically stole my money because I had no idea. They refuse to give any extra days. It’s crazy they keep your money as credit and put a short time limit on it, then keep it. Use Poshmark it’s way better. Has a bigger selection and their customer service is better.

Used it fine for a few weeks tried to list items and bought stuff. However now I can’t login and rate a seller which I bought from which prevents him from getting the money. Tried contacting support MULTIPLE times with no avail. On top of that they charge a 10% seller fee for selling making profits harder. My account still receives the excessive spam emails from mercari when I can’t even login. UPDATE : I UNSUBSCRIBED AND THEY CONTINUE TO SPAM MY EMAIL. Terrible app do not get.

Let me get something strait; this app is VERY nice. It’s basically eBay but with the ability to send offers (good for buyers) but only gives you three days to return an item instead of eBays 30 (good for seller). It’s a trustworthy app and is very easy to use. My complaint is the frustratingly high amount of times this app has tried to sell me something. If you save something as a search or a certain item they’ll send you a ton of emails and notifications through the app at random times about new and/or similar items. You can unsubscribe to the emails and turn off notifications BUT they will eventually start sending you emails again and you have to turn off ALL notifications, including listing texts, for it to stop. There should be an option to disable saved searches notifications and when I update my email preferences it should last forever. Now they started having in app notifications and will show you have notifications for price drops but half the time it’s just Mericari themselves advertising some deal unrelated to what I want. I would give 5 stars if the advertising would stop. I know what I want to buy goddamnit! Tl;dr: good app but will constantly annoy you to buy something.

Keeps crashing

For the past week or so, my account has not been working. Whenever i try to click on a transaction or rate the buyer, it says order cancelled. Whenever i try to click on a message from a possible buyer, it says unregistered user. It has gotten rid of all my saved searches. I tried emailing mercari, but that was no help, as they just told me to simply click on my buyer ratings, as if i wasn’t already trying that. Disappointing 😕

I like that Mercari only gives the seller 3 days to ship, unlike other sites that allow an unresponsive seller 7 days before the buyer can cancel. I don’t like that a buyer can only offer a certain % lower than asking or that a seller can set their shipping at $18 for a top if they want to... that is absurd. I also don’t like that people who smoke don’t mention they do and their items wreak of cigarettes and that smell is really hard to wash out. People who don’t smoke usually say smoke free but do I have to ask EVERY TIME? Nothing is being done to correct this issue.

So I sell on eBay, and tried mercari and yes I instantly made 3 sales, but their chat service is confusing it only shows a icon for your item, so if you’re talking to 2 people about the same product you will be confused. Second they basically force you to use the shipping labels. Idk about you guys but I don’t have the fancy equipment to be printing my own labels yet I use my phone. So you can’t manually enter a tracking number. I had to send it through chat to each buyer. Then they charged me for shipping when I paid at the usps. On one game I lost money and the other made 3 dollars profit as opposed to the 6 dollars profit and 10 profit on the other. You can’t reach them and when you do they want to charge 5 dollars. I recommend staying on eBay as a seller.

I started off loving this app. They tale 10% and have a good system for selling. Things were going well, then all of a sudden they deleted a pair of sneakers I was selling, then another and a sweatshirt with the reason being “not enough documentation given to authenticate. Instead of giving me the option to provide more pics/receipts/etc, they just shut me down like that! And zero recourse or customer service to fix it. Horrible to do to customers after collecting fees on sales. Won’t be using this app again sadly.

Signing up for an account was insanely hard to use. The only way I could sign up was with the Facebook login, I tried everything else but it didn’t work. I wanted to verify my account but phone Authenticator at first was tied to one of my failed attempts to sign up so I had to go through customer service which was fine, but...... after that the phone Authenticator straight up didn’t work I’ve tried many times over the past few day but every time it sends me an error box with “number did not match” both with the text and call methods (also the fact that there is no “I didn’t get the code” to resend the 2FA number, so I had to wait about an hour every time I wanted to try again). I am very unhappy with this app and I guess I’ll just hoard all the things I wanted to sell and live in perpetual sadness.

I have been using mercari for a while and noticed that mercari team and customer support only favors the buyers no matter what. I had instances where the buyer lies the product was damaged or missing and as a seller u loose the fund and the item. I even requested to return back the item in one instance as the buyer claimed it is damaged but the buyer shipped empty box. I recorded the whole session and even submitted the proof but no reply after. I feel the mercari customer support acts dumb most of the time.

It is VERY ANNOYING that the search function keeps displaying the same items over and over as you scroll down. As soon as I start seeing repeat items I get out of there. I do not want to see things that I scrolled past already! Please don’t waste shopper’s time!

This company is incapable of working outside the guidelines and lacks personality. Received a product damaged in shipping. The product would be of No use to the seller sending it back. I elected to keep this product and order a replacement part and requested a partial dollar amount from seller, which they felt was fair. Mercari was incapable and or showing any willingness to assist both parties on a simple request. A simple resolution to charge me $5 less in the transaction to be charged to my card in compensation for the damaged part and to confirm with the seller. The answer was like a robot reading from a script! Not good customer service. There is no way to call anybody or speak with, just messaging which takes over 48 hrs to get back to you. Tell them and send a message to the seller you are going to pay them direct and see how quick they are to respond to that!! They delete the message to the seller and warn you on how that’s against policy!! Don’t use this app!!

I love this app, super user friendly and fun, and has a huge selection of quality stuff from lots of brands. However recently I ran into a problem. I am logged into my account but my likes and saved searches are gone. Idk if it’s a glitch, but it’s really lame bcuz that was my favorite part. It’s been like 3 days since that happened, but overall runs pretty smooth, transactions are easy. It’s just sorta hard to make money off of it, bcuz i sold something for $20 and i only made an $8 profit. it would be nice to have a locals only option, to save the cost of shipping. :P

I absolutely love this app! I have gotten so many AMAZING deals on name brands like Lululemon. It’s also a great place to sell! I also love how the app notifies you when your item is shipped, and lets you view your tracking/when your item will arrive. Another great thing is that the seller doesn’t get paid until your item arrives and you rate the seller. This means that you are having a safe purchase with no scams. Great app!

Very poor Customer Service, Erwin is a unprofessional representative! Sold a NEW in Sealed Box Breast Pump. After Buyer received item, she requested a return stating it was missing parts. Upon approval of return, I received item back with the pump machine missing. Erwin refused to even discuss the issue siding with the Buyer who completely lied and stole the item. Mecari definitely needs more experience in Customer Services protecting the Buyer. Highly Irritating outcome!

My free gift promo for listing was never shipped but the promo ended so I never got anything. My balance is under the required amount to get paid without a fee. I sold an item, I should be able to get my money. I bought something to use up that balance but wasn’t offered the option to use the balance, so it’s still there and I paid in full from my bank account.

Customer service is horrible. They do not review flagged rude comments from sellers. I flagged a rude sellers comment. And replied to the seller to have a “good luck in life” and Mercari took my comment as a “inappropriate comment “ . There is no human customer service. Everything is done by bots !

Have had issues with the whole process. Making you scan a picture of your passport with a small “scanning” window and then taking your own picture on the spot is ridiculous. Then trying to contact them to get help is even more insane. For 5 days I filed “escalation” tickets via phone and chat, would get an email saying it could take up to 24 hours to get a response. Each following day I received an email saying my issue had been resolved. Except it hadn’t. The money ... MY money ... was still sitting in their system. They kept telling my ID couldn’t be verified due to an “address mismatch”. However, passports don’t even have an address on them!!!! Most ridiculous “company” I’ve ever dealt with. Do the sales yourself in a well-lit public place and get your money in-hand. Don’t give that 10% to them!!!!

It’s my favorite selling app. Easy to use. I love how when you search for items, you are able to sort from low to high. Items are easy to find and nicely categorized. It would be nice if there was an option to provide shipping discounts on behalf of seller for buyers especially for shipping items that weigh over a pound. I think that shipping cost sometimes deters buyers.

Mercari only allows 3 days for buyers to send items back for a refund. I bought something from mercari that was labeled as “new open box” only to find out that the item was used, parts were missing, and the item was broken. However, 3 days had passed from when the item arrived to when I had finally checked the item. Mercari said my item is now “non refundable” and suggests that I list it for sale again on their website. I just lost $60. No way to open a ticket after 3 days of purchase. On the flip side, sellers on Mercari get scammed. Buyers can request a refund and instead of sending the original item back, they mail back something else. Sellers lose money too. Mercari has NO INSURANCE for buyers or sellers. It’s buy and sell at your own risk. I’ve enjoyed using the app but will stop using because of these reasons.

I am a long time user of this app. I started using this in 2017, mainly for selling and getting rid of my old stuff. It is very easy to use, and makes everything a very easy and fair transaction. I recently started buying off Mercari, and in the rare case that something does not go as planned, it is very easy to cancel and they give your money back promptly. I highly recommend and will continue to use this app for years to come.

If you accept an item and confirm it was delivered. Then find out it I is not working right there is very little you can do, the user can just block you. You can’t do partial refunds. Really hard to find out how to do a full refund . Stay away from this app!!!

I had a rough start with them since they cancel my first purchase, which actually was a gift, due to verification of my identity. I get it privacy and safety is the most important thing in these kind of sites, but that is something they should be do at the beginning when they grant you access to the site, at least they should not let you buy or sell without verifying everything. When I bought the product obviously my money got deducted from my account and after I complained the money did not go back to my card but after 14 straight days. Their customer service really need to improve because they did not showed any empathy whatsoever at the moment of the issue but afterwards when I was decided to erase the app for good, to be honest I was just waiting for my money to get back to my account and then I was determined to delete the app, but because it took too long I received a discount in the next purchase which in fact came convenient recently, when I was actually searching for something that I was not able to find anywhere else but I found it here so I said why not?. Like I said it was a roughly start but I thing it improved and I am giving it a chance. Just please do the identification or whatever security steps you need to BEFORE any money gets deducted or so, also the seller I don’t even know what she thought about me after being in communication and suddenly the transaction was cancel. Whatever just think things through.

It’s a great app overall. If you are looking for an easy way to sell your unwanted items, then this app is for you. You take a picture of the item, post it with the right description, weigh your item and estimate shipping (shipping in this app is sooo much cheaper than shipping it yourself) and they do all the work! I usually sell my items within a week. They charge 10% but its totally worth it. What I like the most about this app is that they protect the buyer and seller. When someone buys your item, they pay upfront. Then once you ship the item and they receive and expect it, they rate you. You then rate them back and get paid. The only thing I don't like is that you don’t receive funds right away. They only deposit the balance once a week (usually after the following monday) so you have to make sure to request a deposit by the Sunday before. Things I would like for them to change when you message buyer/seller, is to add emojis and pictures. They overprotect sometimes and will shut down your message if it contains any words like (“free”, “trade” or personal information like email or phone number. etc.) so There’s no real way to be able to share in a picture a damage or item missing in the messenger portion. However if you do have a damage you can file a claim and they usually take a couple days to contact you back. No funds are release during that time. Anyway overall great app, I’m at almost 100 sales with 100 5 stars 🤗💕

I have done a TON of business through Mercari. Both buying and selling. Most transactions go smooth, but I have had a couple of issues. Any time I have ever had a problem, I reach out and I have been helped. This last situation deserved a 5 star review. I purchased a shirt from a seller, she waited past the three days to ship it. I asked for a refund on the 4th day and she clicked that she had shipped it. The tracking info never updated and by the 8th day after I purchased, it showed that it had been delivered. I checked and it was apparently picked up in Colorado where the seller lived. Mercari ended up refunding me my money, but the seller said they had shipped. A few days later, I received the shirt in the mail. I checked tracking and it still said it was delivered in Colorado, nothing further than that. I reached out to the seller to let her know that I got it, and Mercari. I wanted to make sure she was paid but didn’t know how to go about it since the item had been deactivated. Mercari thanked me for my honesty and ended up paying for the shirt and told me to keep it or do what I wanted, and also gave me a 5% coupon for my next purchase. I understand things happen, not every transaction will be the same. Some people won’t be happy with the way that things are dealt with...but I have always had great customer service with this app. Easy to sell, easy to buy..I will stay loyal to them because I think they’re great!! I have been using mercari for years now and I have always enjoyed buying and selling. My only recommendations to make the app itself better and more appealing are when it comes to “my likes” I wish there was a way we it could be sorted and for it to be categorized into their respective selections, such as if I am looking for a particular phone I liked I shouldn’t be scrolling for minutes at a time to find it, it would make it much easier to have a menu there that’s includes choices like women’s clothing, electronics etc. so I can find it much easier, and now for the second recommendation, for some reason if I happen to scroll on my likes and click on something like a pair of shoes and I exit out of that window and back to my likes, it reverts back to the very top!!!!! It’s the same way with my inbox/buying messages!! I can be scrolling down for about a minute, click on something on either my likes or messages exit out of that particular page and go back and I would still end up at the very top! It is frustrating!!! For some reason though this problem does not exist when I am searching for something on browsing page, if I click on an item then exit out of that items page back to the browsing it still keeps me in that same browsing place as opposed to making me start looking from the very top again like I do in “My Likes” and the messaging portion. Please fix this soon!!!!! It is very irritating! Other than that this app is great :)

I joined Mercari several months ago and have done some buying and selling. I have only good things to say. Even when a seller didn’t respond to a purchase I made on his site, Mercari backed up its guarantee. That’s why this a great way to shop, if you like doing shopping online! You can do it without the worry of the what if, because you know Mercari has a guarantee and your money is protected if a seller backs out or if the product is what it was described as or if your unhappy with it in some way. The items I’ve bought have all been exactly what was advertised, I look for sellers who have good reviews. Another great feature Mercari offers, so that you can feel rest assured with what your getting. Other sellers I’ve bought from have made up for the one who didn’t respond. All very nice, people take pride in their reviews so its motivation to shop quickly in the 3 business days Mercari allows. And to package nicely ...Mercari set great standards to achieve. I feel they have thought of most everything. As a seller, they make that easy and provide the shipping labels and clear instructions to help get the best review for yourself as a seller and a happy buyer! They take a fair percentage for the sale. They also have a great team to answer clearly any questions I’ve had about how to use the site. The site is easy to use. So much you can find on here! I’m literally on this app every single day...haha I don’t get on Facebook at all anymore even, because of this app! But I really only have a couple small issues with this app. To start off with and I’m not sure if it’s a big issue or what it is but going through my likes items and when I click on one then go back to the liked items list is for whatever reason puts me either completely at the front of the list or right there close to it?! NOTHING IS MORE AGGRAVATING than to be so far into your list (it literally takes hours...) just to have to carefully scroll through trying not to click on any (which the reason why I’m scrolling so far back in the first place is to find the items to relike them back to the front of the list) Which brings me to question; there’s literally no other way to make the “likes items” other than this way it’s being done now? Like I don’t really know what other way to do it but the way it is now makes it extremely hard to go back through and look at the items I’ve saved.. The 2nd is searching things!! Why on earth can’t you search a user by either their email or by the name they’ve givin on their account???? Other than those two things I have absolutely NOTHING remotely close to negative about this app! I LOVE IT!!!!!!

I would give this app a negative star rating but 1 is the lowest I can go. If you want to take a chance losing money, or losing the item your trying to sell then this is the app for you. I recently made a sale on Mercari and the item that I sold was brand new and never taken out of the package. Once it was sold I shipped it to the buyer who, when received it, requested a return. Mercari approved the return without ever telling me the reason to why it was being returned. But that was ok with me because it wouldn’t cost me anything and I could just resale it when I got it back. When the item returned back to me I noticed the box was torn so I looked inside, and the buyer had just replaced the new item that I had sent with a used item that he already had. So I reached out to Mercari to let them know what happened. Mercari told me that I was wrong and that the item I sent was returned back to me in the same condition. I asked for them to explain to me how they had determined this, but they just ignored me. I sent 5 more inquiries asking them to give me some kinda explanation. The first 4 inquiries I sent were ignored, the 5th one was answered by stating they weren’t going to do anything about it. Then they closed the case making it where I could not send any more inquiries from my account about that item. Unless you enjoy getting ripped off, my advice is to use another selling tool other than Mercari.

I use and have tried using many selling apps. This one is by far my favorite for many reasons. I've been using it for about half a year now with over 300 reviews. The percentage they take may seem like a lot at first but it's definitely worth it. I like that when people make offers it's easy to communicate with them through private message instead of all conversations being public like some other apps. It's very easy to list, and I can quickly list items now that I'm used to it. Every time I've had an issue with a transaction or a question, they've quickly responded back (even on weekends). It's not an issue to me that there's no number to call because I always get a personalized answer to my questions. This selling app by far has the most superior customer service. Even though it's my favorite, there are some flaws. Areas to improve: 1. sometimes the app takes a while to load when first opening it (pictures won't show). 2. It would be helpful if they started some kind of authenticity check for very expensive designer items. 3. It would be nice to have a cheaper shipping option for under 0.5 lbs (categories for 0-0.5 lbs, 0.5-1.5, 1.5-3, 3-5, and the rest of the current categories). I usually have to do my own shipping for these items to help buyers with cost but this takes more time obviously.
No Seller protection

I sold a Louis Vuitton speedy in fair condition for a fair price. The buyer changed her mind about the bag. All sale are supposed to be final , unless the item was different than described. Well the buyer decided to slash 3 of the 4 corners of my bag , in an attempt to get a refund ,,based on the slashes not being disclosed in the description. They were not disclosed because they did not exist. Mecari immediately approved the refund and issued the refund before I was able to dispute it. Even tho I immediately disputed it once the bag arrived back to me and I saw what she had done. I have been back and fourth with customer service via chat on the app. Which is not live. So I wait and wait and wait for a reply each time I pled my case. Long story short,, there is no protection for you as a seller. This person could have sent me back a bag of jelly beans ,,, but as soon as the item is marked delivered,,,, case closed. The criminals and scammers that may be using this app also get your name and address from the shipping when you sell or buy something. Which in my case is not so bad because I plan to take this person to court. That’s if it’s even a real name. Mercari has been no help at all. I’ve been sent messages apologizing that the transaction did not go as I would have like.... uh no it didn’t. No compensation for the damage to my bag. If you sell anything at all... don’t let it be anything of value. If you buy something, you’re still taking a gamble.

I have dealt with two people so far that do not rate, what so ever, at first i had to wait 48 hours and then Mercari would send them a notification. Now I have to wait 72. It is really frustrating having to wait over a week for the person to receive their package to get paid but then I have to wait even longer for the person to rate me and the fact that I have to wait even longer for them to rate in order to get paid is so dumb. Not does that take forever but once you transfer your funds to your bank account that in itself takes anywhere from 3 days to a week. So you don’t end up getting paid until like a month after you sell something even though you have done your part. Not only that but you as a seller can’t rate a person at all when Mercari sends the money through if they don’t rate. Therefore, there are most likely so many more people that don’t rate and you will never know because your not allowed to rate a person once the transaction is complete. I should be able to rate someone if they didn’t take the opportunity to rate me so I can get paid. What’s even more frustrating is when it’s the people who have sold items before, who know that you can’t get paid until they rate you and they still don’t rate.

This is an awesome way to get rid of unwanted items. You post the things you want to sell, ship it, wait for your rating, and then you get the cash! One thing that’s really cool is that they create the shipping label for you! (This comes in handy for me because I’m a first time seller!) I’ve loved having this app so far, I’ve made some good money in the past couple of months from it. Issues I had at first where not knowing how to deposit the money I made from Mercari, into my bank account. I think it’d be pretty awesome for them to walk people through it when they make their first sale. Just so people know how to get their money. Also, when you really get into the habit of selling items on here, but sure that you don’t need the money you made RIGHT away because their process to transfer money takes a while. So that’s another small improvement I would make as well! A faster transfer process. Another thing, I think that it’s great they implement buyer/seller protection, so to go even further with this, another suggestion I have is to allow more photos to be taken on high end items. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if something is legitimate or not because there’s only 4 pictures. Certain items need more proof! 😊 This ensures that people are buying and selling authentic products. Besides this, I love Mercari. This app is totally worth the download!!
USPS Kills this app

I want to give this app 5 stars as it protects the buyers and sellers from fraud. It’s gaining popularity and you can find an enormous amount of deals. The reason why I gave it the title “USPS kills this app” is because my local USPS Mail carrier thinks it’s ok to mark my delivery as delivered and I always get it a few days later, mind you, you only get three days to rate your seller before your payment automatically gets released to the seller. Yes Mercari is the middle man here and doesn’t release the payment to the seller until you check your product out and give them a thumbs up by way of rating the seller (awesome). You can now see how having a mail carrier like mine that thinks it’s ok to mark deliveries as delivered beforehand, especially when there’s a chance you are nearing a holiday!! You can hold your breath and throw some salt over your shoulder to hope your item is as described by the seller because one day to review may not be enough (but better than nothing I suppose). Mercari does try to help you though, if you contact support and let them know you haven’t received your item even though your mail carrier says it was... and stay on high alert looking for your item to review and rate... they will actually hold the funds for you until you receive the item. Hope this review helps someone who is experiencing the same. Thanks Mercari for understanding.

This app is great to sell and buy from! I’ve sold many items such as clothing I no longer wear or decor that’s no longer used. And in return I can use the balance to buy new clothes from the app. The shipping is high, which is why I always keep my prices super low. There’s always room for improvement in the app. It would be nice to send pictures of my items through the messages, I needed to send a picture to a buyer after she bought something because I noticed a defect with the product I didn’t see before. She asked for a picture but there was no way to send one to her after she’d bought the item. So I had to cancel the transaction, edit the pictures and wait for her to be refunded so she can repurchase. Maybe if there’s a way to take pictures through the messages section, that would be great! Especially if someone wants more pictures of a clothing item that you may not want to add to your listing, you could just send the pictures through messages! Also, it would be nice to use another system of payment, such as sending checks or using paypal! I’m too afraid to give out my bank info so I just use my earnings to purchase through the app! Other than that I’ve no problems with Mercari, it’s a great selling app with a good system!

I should start off by saying I loved this app. Yes, I got rude buyers occasionally but that’s with any selling site. Also this site has a lot of rules and regulations. Which is fine, just make sure you know them. Unfortunately I wasn’t aware of all them. I had a buyer that wanted to purchase from me. She lives in another country but has a forwarding shipping company here in the states. I was aware of all of this considering the buyer purchased from me more than once. I recommended we try Mercari because the shipping would be cheaper. The transaction went through no problem. Printed my shipping label and dropped it off at the pack & ship by my house. Only to find out later Mercari canceled the transaction! I tried to get my package back but couldn’t. The buyer was nice to pay me for the item that I sent. I tried messaging Mercari several times only to be told they don’t accept those shipping places. I even tried to pay Mercari for the shipping label used only to end up getting my own account suspended. No warnings.. no emails explaining that the behavior was against there rules. And out of 7 customer reps I emailed asking the same question did I finally get an answer regarding the package and shipping label I used. All the rest just emphasized my account was suspended. & this was five days AFTER the packaged got sent out. Good thing the buyer paid me! Needs better customer service & more warnings instead of immediately suspending accounts.

This app is great for selling and buying! You can find a lot of amazing and unique stuff for REALLY low prices. Selling is simple and straightforward. However, before the update sellers were able to view and reach out to people that “like” their items. Giving sellers the opportunity to follow up in effort to make a sale and/or offer discounts. Before the update, buyers were able to view the tags that sellers used to draw them in. When buying an item, I felt the tags gave insight to details that weren’t necessarily included in the title or description...As descriptions can often be too short or uninformative. I also noticed, and this may not be related to update, but the app would give a coupon for $1-$5 off or 5-10% off any item once you have sold an item. I think it was an insensitive to use seller balance to purchase on the app. When I was getting coupons, I was almost always feeding my balance back into the app by making purchases. Now, I haven't been getting them anymore so I've been transferring balance to my bank account. I think this app can wipe a lot of others completely off the map because it's just far more user-friendly and prices/seller fees/shipping is so much less! Overall, I give this app an A+ but BEFORE this recent update, it was much better.

I’m a five star active seller/ buyer, with 140 transactions. I used to love using this app. I was on it, more than I was on Facebook, from what my Data report read. From what it was in 2016, to what it is now, it’s become really annoying. Sometimes sellers don’t realize shipping an item them selves, is cheaper than Mercari flat rates. I stopped selling, because of the interest rates that apply. When I first started, all the money I made from my sales, went directly to me. That was nice. The app constantly tries to get you to come back with small cheap coupons like $3 or $5 to an item, as long as it’s over $15 sometimes, before shipping costs. I’ve been kicked off the site in the past, was able to reach out through Facebook messenger and the problem was resolved. I had to help my cousin fight to get her money for an iPhone she sold, that someone stayed they never received. Mercari said they’d investigate. My cousin lost. I had to do my own investigation, write out all the facts, stating the weight of the item is on every receipt of a package sent. If the package was empty like the buyer claimed, it wouldn’t have weighed more than a pond for an empty small box. Crappy investigation on their part. With my help, she won and the money was turned over to her. It was a headache. Because of that, my cousin never sold on the site again. I think they’re too overwhelmed with how fast pace the app is, and even with all the updates, the site is still garbage.

Previously, I had been using eBay to sell items but kept coming up in the negative every month being overtaken by crazy fees. I found mercari by googling ‘where to sell your used clothing’, I was kind of skeptical but I liked the fact that there was no listing fee, just a selling fee after your item sold, which seemed reasonable! Also, the postage fees are set, so they are the same every time based on the weight of your package. I wasn’t sure how well it would work out with payment being contingent on your buyers rating of the item once received, I worried about letting my item go and then never receiving anything but I have had zero problem so far! I only started selling in January but so far I have seen profit from this :) I think Mercari has an excellent system and they are very good at making sure it runs smoothly. It has been a pleasant surprise so far and the BEST thing about Mercari? ACTUAL customer service that offers a way to contact by email and then ACTUALLY RESPONDS!! I am one of those people who always has questions and you cannot know how much I appreciate being able to ask and always getting a quick, thorough response! I can’t wait until Mercari passes all the competition and is known as the NEW number one selling app! :)
Trading system and Bugs

This app is great. I love using it and get on at least everyday. But I would want to recommend one thing; a trading system. I think that this could be done while you are creating a listing and you can choose if that listing is open for trade. When someone is viewing the listing similar to the button for purchase there could be an offer trade, same for in the messages within the offer button there should be a choice for trades but only being able to offer what you have on your listing. Shipping should be paid buy both traders. If this some sort of trading system would be implemented into the app that would be great. On another note, I have been experiencing many bugs while on this app. On my device I am a part of the beta software program for iOS which possibly may be the reasons for this issue. The issue is that I can not open any listings or open any of my own items I am selling. As I open the app everything refreshes fine but as soon as I press a listing or look at my sale items the app kind of freezes for a little but then doesn’t do anything. As I try to press around on another listing the images of the past listing I pressed on keeps coming up not allowing me to view listings I am interested in.

It’s an okay app for buying and selling. The only thing I don’t like about the selling part is the shipping part. You either ship thru fedex or pay for your own shipping if you want to ship by usps. I don’t have a Fedex drop box located near me and usps is literally blocks away from my house. if I wanted to ship thru fedex I would have to travel across the city & spend more time in traffic & waste fuel which costs more money in the long run. Fedex will not pick up packages from your location, you must send the package to their facility unlike usps where you can have them pick up from your location. As a seller, I’ve only sold a couple of items since I started using this app a little over 6 months ago. Since after the first month of using this app I haven’t sold anything. basically I’ve stuck with poshmark & ebay for selling my items. I would love to continue to sell on this app but I cannot give my items away because of the low balling from the buyers. Second thing is that i’ve noticed a lot of sellers are posting stock photos of the items they’re selling and not of the actual item. I want to be able to see the product the persons selling and because of how the seller is not providing an actual photo of the item they’re selling, they’ve lost a sell from me because IDK what the condition of the item is or the actual color of the items. Plus these sellers don’t respond to my questions.

I like this app and I have sold quite a lot of things on it. Even things I never thought I would be able to sell! However, out of all the apps I sell on (Vinted, Poshmark & Mercari), I do not like Mercari’s rating system. It seems flawed to me that people can give you less than a 5 star rating but not have to explain why. When I receive a random 3 star rating without any explanation, I would like to know the reason behind it! I take pride in having 114 5 star reviews so I want to do everything I can to fix the problem or know feedback when I am given a rating less than 5 stars. I would like to be able to have a chance to defend myself or figure out the reason why. So, a seller rates me 3 stars then blocks me so that I can’t message them to ask about it, or buy anything from their closet even if I wanted to. How is that allowed or even considered fair? It’s kind of an unjust rating system. Especially because you can’t see what you have been rated as a seller until the buyer rates you. You could be rated 1 star by a really rude, unfair buyer and not know it until you have rated them 5 stars. I feel like the rating system could definitely improve in that if you leave less than a 5 star review, you should have to actually write out a reason why and give the person a chance to explain (like on Vinted) instead of just leaving 3 or 2 stars.

So let’s take a stroll down my latest adventure with this app. I downloaded it the other day and have been looking around it until I found something I wanted to buy. Low and behold I found something I want. So I have to input my address for shipping and obvious reasons, ok that should be easy! So I go on and put in my info and hit finished . . . Cannot find address.. ok weird so I try it a different way and then a few others changing 1s to ones and so forth but still the same result. Alright so I’m a little flustered by this but let’s see if I can get help from their help center. Now brace yourself this is the part that really put my privates (for the kids) in a vice. I searched the help center for this problem didn’t find it so I checked other areas of it to no avail. Ok so then I click contact us thinking surely they can assist me directly. But guess what, it takes me straight back to the help center!!!! No email no phone number to contact not even a recommendation to their website ( if they have one) NOTHING. I really took every step within this app I could think of and they proved to me their customer service ranks lower than any I’ve ever had the pleasure of being able to contact.. So GL TLDR- Id rather be put on hold with Comcast all day.

as a big collector of littlest pet shops, i downloaded this app in search of some cheap *authentic* rare lps. i made many purchases with them and they were all smooth. Until one time this woman posted a picture that she stole from an lps instagram page and claimed it was hers and that she was selling that specific authentic lps for a really cheap price. i bought the lps, she told me it was authentic, i recieved it and was very disappointed to find it was not authentic. (authentic of this lps costs $50-$100, a fake costs about $2 off ebay. i payed $20 for the lps i bought from her, so it was a very good deal.) anyways i messaged the lady very nicely and told her that the lps was fake. she *flipped* out on me saying i was a scammer and i was somehow attempting to scam and take my money back without sending her "precious lps". so i filed a scam report with mercari explaining my situation and, rather quickly, a return was scheduled. the lady still was accusing me of scamming and kept saying that she would expose me rada rada, but after she recieved the lps i recieved all my money back, and everything went well. thanks mercari for carrying out these scammers very smoothly and effectively. i continue to use this app and their scam protection is way better than ebays.
Mercari is great when it comes to buying, but it’s selling options are sorta mixed.

The aspect of Mercari’s buying system is perfect. You can get some fast deliveries within a couple of days depending on who you are buying from. It’s really hard to get scammed on this app, so you will 90% get the item you want. Refunds are allowed at all times which is great. You can actually set up offers. Everything on the buying aspect is perfect. However selling off items is sorta frustrating. Usually with these apps like Depop and Grailed, you get the money as soon as you sell an item. That’s a different story with Mercari. You don’t get the money until the sold item is delivered. I dislike waiting for almost an entire week just to get a measly twenty dollars. I want the money as soon as I put it in shipping. Having to wait awhile for this to happen makes it hard for sellers to enjoy the app, because truly it is an amazing app. Why not make it perfect by allowing sellers to get the money up front? If people are worried about scammers, they can look at a users account and get a good look to see if they are trustworthy. A lot of the people on here are very friendly and deserve to get their money up front. In conclusion, it has a small flaw, and like people like me, we deserve our money for selling off our prized possessions. 4/5

Ive been selling on Mercari since the beginning of January. I’ve had pretty decent experiences with making sales and what not, however it is really upsetting that when you get a rating of a 1 star (that you feel was not deserved at all and your buyer has written that myself as the seller tried to “rip them off”) that you cannot defend yourself! I take pride in my 5 star ratings that when I get a rating of anything less I’d love to be able to reach out to the buyer through messages to try and make the situation better for them that way I’m not being told in the ratings section that I am ripping someone off when I have not and do not ever intend to do anything like that and possibly ruin any future sales I could have from other people due that negative review. Mercari’s promotional limits are also very annoying. Poshmark does not limit the amount of times I can promote my items, why does Mercari? If I am trying to make a sale I constantly update my prices so that way l can attract more buyers to my items and have more transactions. The final thing I feel like Mercari needs to improve is the amount of time it takes to get the balance of money from sales processed in order to transfer it to my bank account, it feels like it takes forever! Other than those few things I love the app and intend to continue to sell on it!

I downloaded this app about a week ago and its seemed amazing and all the deals were great and I was very happy with the way everything was laid out and how I was buying directly from people, BUT I’ve encountered issues that confuse me very much. #1 I was trying to buy an item and the buyer said “just kidding” and cancelled the order, why is that allowed? (I received my money back) #2 I was attempting to buy another item and I paid for it, and the seller shipped the item but out of nowhere Mercari THEMSELVES cancelled the order and refunded the money *no reason was given* and then I got another notification that my, and I quote, “account was cancelled” for some reason about the app not serving “US Territories” WHAT. #3 I sold an item to someone in Florida and the item went through and everything was fine but now that my account has been “cancelled” HOW AM I GOING TO GET MY PAYMENT!?!?!? This whole situation seems off and annoying because very little explanation is given for any action taken. #4 There is no way to directly contact anyone at Mercari. Any time you go to the ‘Help’ section they only give you FAQ instead of something helpful!! I need to know what is going on with my account and how I am going to get my payment and why I can’t use the app anymore. Everything just seems sketchy and need a response for why this is going on. I would greatly appreciate an explanation from Mercari.

I love this buy/sell marketplace! You can search AND locate many HTF items at fabulous prices! This forum is pocketbook friendly!!! Additionally, you WILL discover other items of interest here as well! These are some additional facts which make Mercari exceptional: Their Customer Service is top rate! It’s very easy to contact these bright individuals! Communication is clear and informative. You can rest assured you’ll get a quick, fair and intelligent reply as to resolving any concerns a buyer or seller might encounter. Here’s another service they have recently implemented. Unfortunately, sellers from many websites across the board get away with advertising an item for sale which is no longer available. Meaning they’ve sold it somewhere else to an individual willing to pay more money than the listed price! Yet, they won’t admit this because....it’s wrong! So they string other buyers along until the waiting period expires, obligating management to deliver the disappointing news the order is cancelled! Thus the company loses credibility, customers and potential business due to these nefarious acts. Mercari has cracked down on unscrupulous sellers. Disciplinary action is taken in order to provide a safe and legal environment for EVERYONE! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I love mercari. Ever since i found out about it i haven’t used any other app to sell. I began using mercari when they didn’t even charge a selling fee. I still use it considering they only want 10% which is worth it. The only thing i would like to see changed on the app is how sensitive it is when listing. What i mean by that is i would post an authentic item and they would just take it down for some reason for fraud or something like that. Also i feel they should look into a seller’s background before just shutting down accounts. I had 75 GREAT ratings and one person reported me for whatever reason and they banned me. Of course i got another account because like i said i love mercari and for two my account was shut down for no reason. I would also like if they let you use your bank information on a different account once you take it off a previous account. The last thing that would make mercari a great place to sell if somehow you could instantly get access to your funds if you chose direct deposit. If not that i feel there should be more than one payout day. Other than that i would highly recommend using mercari to buy/sell your items. Keep up the good work Mercari!
Deactivating listings for no reason?

Got a notification today saying that a few of my “old” listings were being deactivated because they were “inactive” and that I should take a moment to review them so that I don’t miss out on sales. They send me a list of 20+ listings that THEY deactivated on my behalf, without my permission. One in particular that I posted only a month ago was deactivated, yet older listings beyond that one were still kept active! Also a listing was deactivated that had been recently getting likes, and I even promoted it to likers just this morning (before Mercari decided to deactivate it). This could’ve potentially made me miss out on a sale, had I not reactivated it after seeing this stupid notification. So I’d like to know how that listing could possibly be considered “inactive” when it’s getting likes and being promoted? If this is going to be continuously happening with my listings, then I may just not use this app to sell anymore. If you can tell that I am ACTIVELY using the app, my listings are getting likes, and I’m obviously keeping track of my own stuff... then LET ME MAINTAIN MY LISTINGS ON MY OWN. This isn’t my first rodeo, I can handle it without your intervention. Oh and I tried reaching out to customer service before leaving a review but after going through the different tiers to “contact us” I eventually landed on a “Sorry, page not found” error. You should probably fix that.

BE CAREFUL, IT JUST HAPPENED TO ME! I made a purchase several days ago and was checking to see when I was going to received when to my surprise the app show that I already receive the item the day before! I check the mail, talk to the seller and in her app it show the same! So we decided to contact Mercari. Unfortunately the answer was what worries me more because it made it clear that Jeremie didn’t really pay attention to my issue! He told me that was a “automated message”, I know what that look like and this was completely different, THE APP SHOW THAT I HAVE THE ITEM, THE STATUS IS “DELIVERED” AND IT’S AWAITING RATING! As everybody knows after 3 days they can release payment. So it could happened that they release the payment before you even have a chance not just to receive it, but to inspected and check that it is exactly what you paying for! What it worries me more it’s the dismissive and patronizing tone of the answer of the responsable parties, as I say before. So be careful! There is a lot of amazingly nice people out there, but there is also the ones that are waiting the chance to take advantage of every chance they get! OBVIOUSLY NOT GOING TO USE THIS APP ANYMORE AND DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYBODY TO DO IT!

Makes it really easy to list, sell, and buy. The only issue I have with the app is the pay. Once the item is purchased, the item is shipped to buyer who checks out product and rates the seller via Mercari. Rating is when and how you get paid!! If buyer does not rate, after 3 days Mercari rates. (Mercari had the funds since the transaction took place but wont release til rating minus 10% fee) You do not receive funds until rating is complete.......and when i say receive funds, funds are added to your Mercari balance to purchase items on Mercari! Second option once you have a balance is transfer amount to your bank via EFT (Sunday was the cut off day....no matter what day, you get it sometime Monday thru Wednesday or even later) Anything over $10 is free to transfer but under $10 transfer is a $2 charge.....app has been updated to allow seller to cash out whenever. I have tested it out and the wait time is just as bad as before. I requested the money and didn't receive it til 5 days later. (My bank releases funds as soon as they are received unlike some banks that place holds on incoming money.) Mercari has pros and cons as with everything in life. In my case, the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
My experience with Mercari Customer service has always been positive.

With the exception of a few rare decent Sellers who I’ve encountered on Mercari, or eBay, and/or Poshmark, etc.,., ...I’ve lost almost all trust in the reliability and integrity, dependability in Mercari Sellers - as well as eBay, Poshmark, etc.,. It’s only because of the positive, successful experiences I’ve had in dealing with Mercari customer service representatives who have always displayed the same consistent respectful, considerate, successful and reliable results, and always in a timely manner that I continue to utilize any online shopping app. I’ve not had a situation yet where mercari customers service representatives didn’t work speedily to successfully remedy the problems I’ve encountered from having dealt with dishonest, inconsiderate, unreliable, and inconsiderate Sellers. I have found Mercari customer service representatives to be reliable and understanding and persistently successful — that they continue to provide me with the sense of security needed for me to continue online shopping with a sense of ease. And, I sincerely thank you for that because reliability and consideration these days are rare commodities, God knows. Be blessed always in The Holy Name of The Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, amen.

I enjoy using this app to sell everything from a spectrum of unused, unwanted, used, and handmade items. I’ve sold more items on this app than other selling apps. There are a few concerns that have made me second guess using Mercari. Things such as the long wait for receiving our funds. It takes too long to wait for items that I have sold to ship to the buyers, then I have to wait less than a week to have the money deposited into my account. Another thing I don’t like about Mercari is the way we receive ratings from our buyers. In order to receive our monies, we have to rate our buyer and have no idea what kind of rating we will get as sellers. I could be giving a buyer a “great” rating and he or she could be giving me as a seller a “good” or “poor” WITHOUT having me as a seller redeem myself for something that is out of my control once I ship the product. Some buyers don’t even give an explanation. If Mercari changed this to allowing us as sellers see their ratings before we close the transaction, we can help not only ourselves but the buyers as well. This allows sellers by explaining ourselves why the shipping was late or if they would accept another item in return of what they received, it will help us as sellers grow and become better for future buyers.

Starting out I loved this app. Easy to sell stuff I don’t wear/use but when I finally encountered a problem I realized how terrible their customer service is. I sold a pair of authentic True Religion shorts. I opened the app one day to find that the buyer requested a refund, mercari gave them the refund but did not have them send the item back. I was completely unaware of why the refund was requested and issued I do days after when the buyer finally responded to my message. The buyer claimed the shorts were not authentic. But they were... so obviously I want them back. I messaged the buyer multiple times with no response for days. I tried to go through the mercari help AND IT IS RIDICULOUS. They only offer FAQ. if your problem is not on there, you will not receive any answers. Any response I got told me to tell the buyer to go through mercari help to start a refund. But the buyer insists that I send them some kind of shipping label because they already did the refund through mercari instruction and were not told to return them. I now haven’t heard any other response from the buyer and mercari help IS NO HELP. So they got a FREE pair of authentic true religion shorts. Not to mention mercari fees are over the top. You’d think with the fees they charge they would actually have good customer service. But no. ZERO STARS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!

I don’t usually write reviews. However for Mercari I have made an exception. While not a seller at this time, this is only spoken from the buyers point of view. I absolutely love it! This may actually be an addiction. I have to put some daily time in just checking it out. With my notifications on I can keep up with my liked items and categories of interest, which is straight and to the point. What makes it so likable and unique is the fact that you have to agree with the purchase being as described (within 3 days of an item or items’ receipt), or your money is refunded. Now that’s fair! It keeps the sellers on point and the buyers not stuck with money losses. I can’t personally speak on what happens next if this happens to you because I haven’t had this experience. All of my items have been just as described. Hopefully you’ll be able to agree. I have told everyone about Mercari. I don’t use any other buying sites before I check first with what’s here. The ease of it all: fair selling practices; great deals that I have found; speedy shipping and customer service all keep me being a big fan!! I love it! Hope you will too!!!
Newest version a step back!!:(

I love Mercari and I am a very successful seller but this newest version takes it a huge step back especially for sellers. Previous versions allowed sellers to communicate with folks who hit the like button and gave valuable information about people who liked your item I don’t even know why you tell us who likes our items when we are not allowed to communicate with them not allowed to click on their profile not allowed to follow them! why even show us pictures or tell us anything? and why ever give us the ability to communicate proactively when you are taking it away? it’s a huge step backwards. I made many sales when I very very politely interacted with my buyers first. I think it was the nudge they needed to purchase. This would benefit mercari because it makes more sales for you guys otherwise people ignore notifications! I know I do. they are more inclined to answer a direct message from somebody. I would appreciate you bringing back the previous format. It just does not give us sellers enough information to even care if anyone likes our stuff or not. The promoter button does not do enough either especially if you were selling stuff that’s under $10. Thank you for listening to my Feedback. Hopefully you will consider this in your next update.

I used to love mercari. It was easy to use. I agree with other reviews that the rules were and have always been suffocating, but I made do. I used this app for years making good amounts of money and recommended it to everyone. It was almost like a 2nd job for me. Then they changed.. and in more ways than 1. Mercari used to give you your full credit of sales. If I sold something for the minimum price that they offer of $3, I got all of that $3. But then they turned into every other second hand selling company.. they began to take your profits. So if I made a $3 sale, I then made $2.70. Yes, only a couple of cents loss, but when you’re selling in the mass amounts I was it added up quick! Mercari was officially no different than any other app or company out there where you sold your items. I got it though. They need their cut too. I got over it. Then they began to complicate things beyond belief. You used to be able to comment on post, now you can only private messege them. Comments were so much better. You could see past questions other interested buyers asked and the answers. You could see pat offers made. Mercari continually changed and “updated” their app consistently making it more and more complicate. It gets to the point now where I end up cancelling most of my sales because it’s not even worth it anymore. I wish they would go back.

I thought this app was amazing, a great way to make some extra cash off stuff you just had laying around and in the back of your closet. I ended up making about $350 in a matter of a month or so. So I thought it was great until I recieve a message about my account being closed because I am under 18. I am 17 and 8 months and in order to collect my sales I had to verify my ID. So I did so using my drivers license. When I get the notification that my account has been closed it says to contact them when I am of age. And that I will have to wait to receive my $90 remaining in my account. This is complete BS. It pretty sure if I can legally operate a vehicle that I should be able to sell a shirt for $5 online. Bottom line is that I will NOT be redownloading this app or reccomending it to anybody, Infact I will be doing the opposite and warning people of the scammous nature of this app. It is legal for a 15 year old to work and a 7 year old to sell lemonade as well as send mail so tell me, why in the world can a person who is 3 months away from being 18 and moving out to live on their own to sell clothes for tag sale prices online to make themselves extra money??? This app is ridiculous, find a different way to sell because this is not an ethical way not to mention they take 10% of your proceeds. Rip off and scam. I also think it is very scary that they terminate my account AFTER they get my debit card on file.

Mercari is a nice selling and buying app, HOWEVER as a seller I really wish it was much simpler and quicker to post your items for sale rather than go through all the descriptive steps it requires before you can post anything! It literally takes hours just to post up to ten items and it drains my battery!!! Hardly worth the hassle unless you have a lot to get rid of and are trying to earn some extra cash. Let a few pictures and a brief description be enough as people can see what color, brand , & condition the items are in through all those pictures which tell you all that info about the item without having to type it all up in multiple description areas!!! Also why do you have to continually post items often for your listings page to stay fresh and seen by lots of people rather than get lost in the shuffle if you don’t post frequently?? Can’t there be a better way of keeping our listings refreshed and continually rotating back to the top so to speak?? And all those fees, WHEW!!! (sellers fees) and extra charges (prepaid shipping labels fees, etc...) Not sure how long I’ll be using this app, might be looking for a cheaper, better, more user friendly selling app... but on the plus side of things I’m finally selling some of my stuff!! So we’ll see how things go...
New Annoying Issue

Although I like that Mercari has taken it upon themselves to request a rating after no response in 48hrs, and then after 72hrs (which is still too long) will release the funds so you get paid, however I dislike the fact that they have taken away You’re ability be able to rate the people who didn’t rate you and give the reason why they have received a poor rating. there are no more consequences for people who ignore the rating procedures. I think they would be more likely to do better, if people started questioning wether they should buy from them or not. After all that’s what the rating is about right? I like the new badges system, but Does not rating someone effects that, if it does..great, but my last two transactions ended with a rating request and a fund release and then me not getting to rate the buyers failure to rate. Kinda frustrating. You should also receive your due rating (if you mailed the item on time and they didn’t respond you should be given a 5 star rating by Mercari I look at the number of rating on sellers pages too, that helps me see how many things they have sold. Bigger numbers= more experience AND you should get your star if you did your part.
Better ways to sell/buy than this app

I give this app a 2 star, since I'm already running into problems. First time selling an item was a success. No issues whatsoever. I just recently sold my second item, and buyer hasn't been responding for a few days now to give me a proper rating or just let me know that their item has safely arrived, then I contacted Mercari through every platform they have to see if they could help me. (Note: their number brought me to Ford? It was definitely not Mercari, I made sure the number was correct. Also, email is different on site from when they are giving it out in comments or on reviews.)No reply yet, so I sent a rating request hoping that I get my funds on this second item. On the app it states that if the buyer hasn't given rating, they will automatically send you a rating request. By the same token, when you are making an issue about your rate it has to meet a certain criteria in order send a request. I really hope they reply, but honestly my patience is getting thin I might just delete my account and never regret it. If you're looking to sell on this app or even buy something you might like, THINK TWICE! It will save you SO MUCH time money and yourself from being scammed by seller, buyer or possibly the people behind this app, Mercari! I hope this review helps even more for those who need it!

im an experienced seller and have sold many, many items within the past five months ive been selling. this app, at first, seemed really great! i sold FAST. but there are just SO many rules and restrictions that its suffocating. i cant mention “paypal” or any other platforms without being warned or suspended, and thats ridiculous. the app, for crying out loud, uses paypal as a method of payment BUT YOU CANT TRANSFER MONEY FROM YOUR BALANCE TO YOUR PAYPAL. nice. and guess what? Californians cant even use THEIR BALANCE. my account has been suspended for the second time and is going to be terminated once my last purchase gets here. absolutely ridiculous. i personally use depop and its great. better than most apps i’ve tried. the community for the most part is great and they DO have rules and regulations, but youre FREE to do whatever you want. you can say “swap,” “trade,” and you can mention other platforms. mercari would be great if they werent so hooked on monitoring messages and suspending accounts for stupid reasons. i put items up for sale and my description said: “taking offers, starting price is ___” and al of my posts got taken down! what kind of crap is that? and then i get my account suspended because someone asked if i sold on ebay and said no, i sell on depop. the only reason i started selling on mercari is because a depop user MENTIONED MERCARI ON THAT SITE. geez. hate this app. its good, believe me, the community is big, but the service is horrible.

I have been using Mercari to buy and sell items for about 10 months now. Most of the transactions are positive and I have enjoyed the experience overall and most of the people who use the app are very kind and honest, however, there are quite a few scammers. I have been scammed three times by people selling fake jewelry items as real. I make and sell jewelry and it’s usually cheaper to buy supplies and scrap silver on apps like Mercari, but they do NOTHING about scammers. They either go ahead and pay the seller and refund the buyer, or simply remove a review that had already been left. The sellers continue to sell fake stuff!! I was shocked by the responses I received from customer service. There are LITERALLY no consequence for scammers. There was a incident where a woman suspected her neighbors of stealing the jewelry I sent her as the package was empty when she opened it, and she was very nice about the entire thing. I reported the incident to Mercari, offering a full refund to the buyer, and instead they paid us both and sent me a nasty message telling me to package my items better. I have been consistently rated very high on packaging and everything was as secure as reasonably possible. I was disgusted by how I was treated. I’m going to shut down my Mercari store and start selling on EBay.

I have been using this app for almost 1 year for both buying and selling. As a buyer I have no issue with the app (except the fact that shipping appears to be more expensive compared to comparable items on Poshmark or eBay). As a seller however I am highly disappointed resulting in no longer feeling comfortable selling items with Mercari. If a problem arises during a sale, damage occurring during shipping for example, Mercari does not stand behind its promise to support its sellers. Reaching customer service is extremely difficult with significant delays in responses. In the 3 instances I reached out to them they were found to be less then willing to help or care for that matter in all instances. On my final issue I attempted to reach out to their customer service via phone hoping that talking to a representative in person would have a more favorable outcome. Nope. The customer service rep on the phone informed me they had no options what so ever and all issues would have to be escalated to a chat representative. Reaching back out to the chat representative I was informed there was nothing more they could do and would be closing my complaint. The outcome of this issue was a loss in income from the sale and not having the option to have the item returned to me. How this is not considered theft is beyond me. I will no longer be selling items using the Mercari app and I strongly advise other sellers to follow suit.

Mercarí is a lot easier to use than eBay. Since I’ve discovered my car I have a mess up on here almost every day looking for new bargains. They only charge you 10% if you list something and that’s only after it sells. They don’t charge a fee to post items. When you buy something and it was not as described, you don’t have any fears of being cheated because you can simply request to return it. They don’t get payment until after it’s approved by you, the buyer. I’m enjoying it and have recommended it to others. I’ve had one bad experience so far though. I made an offer to a seller for less than her asking price. She declined. I bought it at her asking price. She later canceled the transaction and sent me a nasty message telling me how terrible I was for making her an offer even though the “make offer” button is right there under the listing. She blocked me before I could even respond so I couldn’t rate her stating she doesn’t want to do business with people like me. I didn’t realize trying to buy her item made me a bad person. Customer service did nothing when I asked how I could rate her as a seller. I think I should’ve been allowed to rate her.

There are some buyers that are sweet and some that are very rude, that’s what happens to all selling sites. But on his specific site, they get irate/postal for a messily item that’s below $10. If I don’t get to your reply, it’s not that I’m ignoring you, it’s just that I’m not notified that someone has messaged me until I just so happen to go all the way in the app to check on it. Then when I do my screen turns plain white, I cannot see what they’ve posted until I reset my phone and if anyone use an iPhone knows that it’s really frustrating because it takes so long to reset. The buyers are very impatient, if they order an item, especially on the weekends at wee hours of the night, they expect me to get up and ship it knowing they have to wait later on in the day to ship it or next day. What if I have things to do? Just because the buyer didn’t have anything to do but be bitter all the time does not mean I am in the same state. That’s why the site allows up to 3 days so the buyer can determine whether they want to cancel the item or wait longer. I get blocked because someone thought I sold used personal care items, knowing that’s disgusting and it’s unlike me, but she turns around and sells used makeup....wow. There should be ways to weed out deplorable buyers and sellers too.

As of this date I have nothing but positive things to say about this selling app. It seems they have covered about everything there is for it to be THE selling place. The app is very user friendly, bug free, the customer service is awesome, prompt replies to inquiries, hassel free, platform is awesome and easily navigated. The powers that be behind the app listen to the public on suggestions so it can be more useful and helpful to both buyers as well as sellers. Any changes I have seen within the app have been for the better. I am very happy with Mercari in all aspects and will continue to use this app as a way of buying and selling. Now if only the app could modify some of the people's behavior that use it,that would be great! haha One thing I would like to suggest is this: Whever a user is blocked, could they also be blocked from following you? Ive blocked two people and when they couldnt message me,they followed me and thats creepy. If I blocked them from messaging, I would think it makes sense for them to blocked from all angles. I feel like Im being stalked by these two and any others who may have received a less than stellar and deserved rating.

If there was negative stars to give this app I would! The customer service is terrible, they could care less about the people using their app that make THEM money, and they scam innocent people day in and day out! I used this app for about 2 months, had 37-5 star reviews, and ZERO bad reviews. I shipped about 10 items through them out each day and gave them a great portion of my money. One day I go to transfer my money and they say my account has been suspended! I shipped out about 200$ worth of items that day which they also “canceled” 4 hours after i shipped them. Its funny how my items were sent to their buyers but they just “accidentally” forgot to refund them and just “accidentally” forgot to give me my items back. So yes, they kept my money, as well as the 80$ I received that day to transfer. I have tried emailing them well over 10 times for help, no response! I have called 7 times, every time waiting over 15 minutes for someone to answer! ZERO out of those 7 times has anyone picked up the phone. They gave me no valid explanation on why my account was deleted, all of my items sold were basic household items, why would they do this to me? Mercari is terrible. Plain and simple. DO NOT USE THIS APP! I switched over to ebay. Ebay has amazing customer service, treats their users RIGHT, and are fair. I will repeat it once more, Mercari is downright terrible.
Missed out on a great deal

I started to like the app. Bought something for over $100 sold something for over $200. Probably made Mercari about $30-$40. One late night I negotiated a seller on the best deal ever and the transaction failed because I needed to verify payment. I wasnt able to use my debit card, credit card, Apple Pay or Paypal. I messaged them and they responded with the most complicated procedure. Anyways the item ended up selling to someone els by the time any of it made sense. The procedure was to click “But it now” (this is paying full price not my negotiated price) and it would trigger two small charges in my account but I wouldn't buy it, it would just trigger the verification. Seemed a little shady because when you click “buy it now” it says this cant be undone, but the service rep insisted. Anyways it was too late and they gave me a $5 coupon which is no help since new members get a $10 coupon anyways which I never got and would have got like $100 off that order but its considerate I guess. I use the coupon on a small item just so I can trigger the verification and of course it completes the order instead of triggering the verification. Needless to say Im not using the app anymore. Definitely a personal problem but a huge bug they need to have fixed.

I'm a seller and buyer on a few different apps/sites and Mercari has seemed to be the easiest with the smoothest transactions. Buyers and sellers are held accountable with rules and guidelines as far as when items have to be shipped once purchased, rating sellers and buyers have to be done before funds are released, and any time I've had issues with a package not arriving to me or to my buyer, Mercari has always been helpful through the process. Yes, there are shady folks on this app that will try to say they didn't receive a package or what not but those people are on all sites. All in all, Mercari has been much more simpler than other apps I've used, they do most of the work for you. I rarely cash my funds in because I purchase on the app also so I mostly use my credits to buy things which makes it so simple. As far as getting great deals, this app has been the best for me. Huge community but returning buyers are usually remembered by the sellers and most will give discounts to returning buyers. I'm happy with using the app. I've done over 300 transactions and have only had 3 issues with people or shipping. I use the app daily I'm happy with it.
