Like many others commenters have mentioned it doesn’t even work. Samsung isn’t a small company and should have more pride in their brand then to leave their customers with this broken app. Next time I will know to avoid them.

Both of my TVs are 2-3 years old and this app seems to work with them as designed. I did take the time to research Samsung forums on the app and familiarize myself with its usage and limitations, so it was a smooth transition for me. I use a WiFi connected iPhone 6 Plus to run most of my home and this makes managing in-house entertainment very convenient. I like it!

If you are suddenly getting this error message after it working fine: I got this error message after getting a new phone. All I had to do is acknowledge the ALLOW DEVICE pop up message on the TV when trying to connect to the TV using the app with the new phone. You do need to use the standard remote to click ALLOW DEVICE. After this things worked perfectly again.

The smartview app does not successfully pair with my Samsung 7 Series TV. However, the smart things app does. It would be nice if the smart view app worked because I think you can share photos and music from a paired smart phone in addition to being able to use the app as a remote control. I hope this app gets fixed.

This is the first app in my life who works well in lan with wire but not with wifi. In the first screen of app it list tvs to choose what tv you need to connect. If I plug my tv in RJ-45 cable it works and my tv appear in app, but if I use WIFI connection my tv doesn’t appear. Maybe this is the issue what many people says the app is nice and others not.

I don’t like this app because you need to have WiFi so you can use it. Before buying iOS I use to Samsung phones the same with my smart tv and other electronics. For some reason I didn’t need WiFi to screen mirror my phone with my tv which amazing for me. But now this this apple phone I can’t do which make me so mad That’s why I’m looking for good options that help me to connect my phone to my tv but now everything is requiring WiFi. Which I don’t need for more things it was good enough with my data plan that had my company. It’s fault for trying something new which don’t have many options as Samsung’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you please take the time to update your Samsung TV apps? Most of them are either old as Atari and are no longer compatible or don’t work because the TV technology has outgrown the app’s capabilities. You only focus on the business apps and if they are not happy with their home devices then they will not want them for their business. I am very disappointed and regret buying a Samsung smart TV. You have the staff, the ability to write code, and the time. You just need to treat your customers like you give a hoot and give them the apps they need to be able to cast and such so they can use the features that people buy smart TV for. I had to take my Roku and hook it up to HDMI 2 so I can use it to cast, mirror, ect.

Awful connectivity. Always hit or miss. Now on iOS 13 it freezes after load. Useless now for such an expensive tv. Samsung, please fix!!!

I left the remote in the bathroom so I decided to give the app a shot. I was able to turn on the TV, select Netflix, browse shows, change shows after playing one, select a final show to watch and turn off the TV at the end. I think the most important thing is that you have to be on the same network as the router and the tv. For some they may be connect to the 5g others may be connect to the 2.4ghz. Double check you are on the right one before condemning the app.

App use to work perfectly but now it cannot connect on my phone or iPad. I have multiple Samsung products and cannot switch back to my Note due to work but I would appreciate this app to be fixed so that I can continue to enjoy the products of Samsung.

Smart Samsung and iPhone and Netgear router and this app simply doesn’t work. Error message says the TV and phone must be connected to the same network, but they are. Multiple reboots of all hardware didn’t help. I thought Samsung would have fixed this by January 2020, but it’s not fixed. Please remedy the problems or take the useless app down.

I downloaded the app because my remote was accidentally boxed up in items I’m moving to a new location. I’m very pleased with how I’m able to everything I need (even turn off the TV) from my iPhone. Great app. I hope more updates are to come.

Just like the software on Samsung’s supposed “smart” TV’s, this app is poorly coded garbage. As a programmer I can confidently say that the quality of this app is appealing. You can see the lack of quality and skill before you even open the app, as the icon itself wasn’t even named correctly when the app was packaged in Xcode; it contains some default text left in its title. This is amateur hour, and the problems go far being the superficial issues such as the app name blunder. It’s just appalling, considering the resources at Samsung’s disposal, how poorly this app is made and how often it crashes, freezes and disconnects from a TV. I’d be ashamed to let such a train wreck to represent my company if I put out software of this quality.

This app used to work fairly well with my old iPhone 5. I replaced the old phone with an iPhone 8+ and I can’t seem to get the devices to pair correctly. I continually get the msg: “Another device is trying to Pair with the TV. Please try later” When attempting the pairing process, the TV doesn’t display the pairing code to enter into the phone on my app. In fact, the app doesn’t even ask for it. It’s at the point now where I’m wasting time attempting to make the app work with my Samsung LED 75. There is great potential but the performance just isn’t there. Before? I could give a 3.5 - 4 stars. Now? Barely a 1. Pretty frustrating.

I wish I could give this app zero stars. It did work pretty well on my series 1 Samsung 4K TV from 2015. I bought a series 7 and now it’s garbage. Won’t connect to my TV because they have to be on the same WiFi network. Which they are. And Samsung obviously couldn’t care less because so many people are having the same issue yet they haven’t updated this app in 11 months.

Every time you close the app and want to access your remote again you have to wait for it to load which can take a couple seconds to just about never. Constantly says it cannot connect constantly delays and constantly causes frustration

I don’t get the name, and also, this app is overridden with bugs and I am getting frustrated with it. Having the name called SmartView_Frame makes me feel like the app is hacked. If you want the functionality advertised, get a new Samsung Smart TV. The newer ones don’t even require this app. You can mirror things onto it from your iDevice. I don’t even think this app is compatible with the new TVs. Also, this app hasn’t updated in around 11 months (as of this writing). Just don’t get this app. If you get this app, unless you like bugs, you will probably uninstall this app very quickly.

New Samsung Q80 75” TV - it keeps showing “unable to connect- needs to be on same network “. Well- it is in the same network. It just doesn’t work. Did firmware update to TV after speaking with manager at Beat Buy. Now the TV doesn’t even show up on the app as being available. Completely worthless - huge waste of time

1. Installed on both iPhone XR and 2018 iPad. The iPad app sees our 50 series 2019 Samsung smart TV but won’t connect, and the iPhone app doesn’t even see the TV. And yes, they’re all on the same WiFi network. 2. Deleted app from both devices. End of story.

This app simply does not work. I boot the app, see me tv in the devices found list, click on my tv, wait while it says it is connecting only for it to fail to connect. The app then displays a notification saying that the syncing failed and to make sure that my tv is on (you tv won’t be discoverable it it is off) and to make sure my phone and tv are on the same WiFi network (which they are). Wish there didn’t have be proprietary apps for every product manufacturer under the sun to get your electronic devices to work efficiently...

What’s going on with this app now it needs to be updated the bugs are causing issues with connecting to my tv use too be a five star app but now idk what’s the deal please fix ! This is the only app I like that actually has the right buttons as my remote but now I can’t even click any of my apps because they don’t appear anymore and every time I open the app it says failed make sure tv is on and connected to the same network and I’ve been using this app for a long time now so I know what I’m doing so the app is not working properly anymore before I didn’t ever get why it had such a low rating but if the app stays with the issues I’m having now I understand why but I’m positive you can fix these issues so until you do I cant nor will I longer use this app Please Don’t give up your the only authentic Samsung app you just need to make improvements and you’ll soon have a five star app ! So lame requires TV to be on same WiFi network. Even the Brother printer app finds my Brother color laser printer on my wired network. Isn’t rocket science to find a device on a wired network using the WiFi connection...Good reasons have my 1600W/7.2/4K/3.5TB(SSD!) home AV system on a wired network. First have very long random character passwords for security that are impossible to type in on a keyboard whether onscreen or Bluetooth. Second at higher volumes such as maximum comfortable listening level of -30dB don’t want WiFi audio drops which could hurt hearing...Not surprising app is lame. After all my 1st gen 2014 Samsung 4K TV only has one 4K HDMI input not even the ARC so can’t use my 4K AV receiver as the 4K source with ARC. So lame only one 4K input for a “4K” TV...Even brand new Samsung tablet doesn’t have mobile hotspot functionality which is useful for traveling since Microsoft defeatured Windows 10 mobile Hotspot with Fall Creators Update unless use Windows Defender and only default settings at that. Guess Samsung is not my only nominee for the Golden Poo award. So lame.

This is the only app I like that actually has the right buttons as my remote but now I can’t even click any of my apps because they don’t appear anymore and every time I open the app it says failed make sure tv is on and connected to the same network and I’ve been using this app for a long time now so I know what I’m doing so the app is not working properly anymore before I didn’t ever get why it had such a low rating but if the app stays with the issues I’m having now I understand why but I’m positive you can fix these issues so until you do I cant nor will I longer use this app Please Don’t give up your the only authentic Samsung app you just need to make improvements and you’ll soon have a five star app ! Downloaded this app and unexpressed. Not only did it intermittently fail but it froze on several occasions which may or may not be an application but rather a TV issue. I have had the same results with other Samsung appliance applications which, when reported, Samsung has not responded or to me I needed to download a newer app that did not resolve the problem. When I can use another Appliance manufacturer without having problems, jumping thru hoops or awaiting appliance upgrades to do what the software is suppose to do, I’m going to buy that appliance.
Everything But the Select Button

Yesterday, I didn’t even know that this app existed! My kids lose the remote constantly, so this app is going to be a savior. It has (almost) everything! Volume controls! Directional buttons! Mute! But, the one thing I can’t find is the most important button of all... the “select” button. On my physical remote, there is a big, circular select button in the middle of the directional buttons. You press it to, you know, select stuff. You can even long-press it to get more information about stuff. But, this app remote seems to be missing the select button. I’ve tried tapping in the middle of the track pad. I’ve tried the A, B, C, and D buttons. I’ve tried the pause/play button. No luck. What *has* worked is switching to the in-app gamepad and pressing the A button there. But, that’s really inconvenient. Am I missing something?

Works fine for me. My network is very solid on a netgear nighthawk router so I rarely have any network issues to begin with. All the people saying it doesn’t display your pictures, thank apple for that most likely. The proprietary file format they use isn’t supported all over the place and Samsung TVs are no exception. Streamed a couple small movies with no problems and saw all the converted jpgs on my phone. I really only downloaded it to type search results on my phone, but figured I’d see if I had the same problems a lot of people had. I didn’t. Chalk that up to user error, crappy hardware, unoptimized setups and poor understanding of environment. And I’m sure there’s bugs I haven’t found, but it seems to do what it claims for me

Bought a Samsung TV partly because they advertise this kind of connectivity with iOS. Doesn’t work. At all. Same network, multiple kinds of efforts to enable a connection, lots of internet searches, totally wasted effort. Frustrating. Adding insult to injury my 8500 series TV also won’t connect to Bluetooth audio devices that many other devices find instantly. There’s no TV firmware update to remedy either issue. I keep checking that too. And my router. No stated issues for ports to open or apps to enable via firewall - same network shouldn’t matter anyway. I’m ready to return the TV for a problem that the software engineers could easily fix in order to align to the marketing and users manual. I’m having to struggle after spending a lot of money and buying into the marketing. One Samsung rep replied on the Samsung site that they can’t guarantee connectivity with third party devices. ...For an open standard on an app downloaded from the Apple App Store onto multiple recent devices, iPad Air, iPhone 8 Plus, using different iOS versions - and NONE worked. Clearly - untested before release. Wish I’d known before buying. Hours wasted. Money wasted. Glad it works for at least one person. Wonder why.

This app works perfectly. Im not sure what people are talking about, but it recognized my instantly and the connection is perfect. The beat feature is the keyboard since its a pain to use the remote to type. The mouse is also great for browsing the web. Overall I cant find anything thats wrong with it. NOTE: if the app is lagging, its most likely due to your Internet router being old or not good. Your phone also plays a part in this. Newer iPhone models have better and stronger Wifi connection. The newer models of Samsung smart TV work better with the app also. Its not the app’s problem.

iPhone 7+ with latest firmware, just bought a brand new Samsung 8 Series tv and came across this app for screen mirroring that’s LITERALLY MADE BY SAMSUNG...so I DL the app, first screen that comes up shows available devices and for some reason it says Samsung 6 Series. I click refresh button (the only other button you can push) still says Series 6. Hm. Thought it was odd but whatever, tap on it and after 15-20 seconds I get the same message everyone on here has already been complaining about saying “Failed to connect...”. Then tried it 5 more times, still same error. I never leave reviews but I intentionally wanted to come here and write this. The 2 stars this app currently is rated is WAYYYY to generous. I wish I could give negative stars for wasting my time.

Take their computers, monitors, chairs, desks, phones, etc. and dump it all in the parking lot for someone else to use, because it’s not doing anything good for the people that wrote this garbage app. Everyone that approved this being an acceptable release is an example of what leadership should NOT be. There was no effort in making a this a great companion to a decent Smart TV. This is nothing but broken rubbish, I can’t stream an album without it stopping randomly, or put my music in the correct order, or transition songs without the TV switching modes and having some other noise play between songs. It lacks basically everything to be enjoyable. BTW, no, it’s not my router. Give your consumers something they can use, not just something with a download that does a couple of things sometimes.

I left the remote in the bathroom so I decided to give the app a shot. I was able to turn on the TV, select Netflix, browse shows, change shows after playing one, select a final show to watch and turn off the TV at the end. I think the most important thing is that you have to be on the same network as the router and the tv. For some they may be connect to the 5g others may be connect to the 2.4ghz. Double check you are on the right one before condemning the app.

I downloaded this app so I could stream movies from a separate app on my iPhone 6s+, but unfortunately you couldn't exit the app and view a different app. If the developers of this app would add this feature to the app (not just for streaming movies, just in general) that would be great and I would give a 5 star all the way. The features presented in the app are really cool but definitely not a necessity when you have a smart remote. The most interesting thing about this app was the game console controller function. I believe this app could be more helpful and have more features with a little work.

It’s a little clunky to set up but it does function pretty nicely. I’m using it on an older Samsung 55” with AllShare, the TV is wired to the same network my wireless hub uses. I can navigate my photos and videos, the interface will show thumbnails of the photos but I haven’t been able to get thumbnails on the videos. As long as you know the video filename you can play what you want. The app allows access to all functions from anywhere on my network; input select, numeric channel select, volume up/down, channel up/down, TV preferences and power.

This remote is supposed to be a convenience. My two 1-1/2 year olds constantly try to get the regular remote so I wanted to intermittently use my phone to control the TV so I could put the regular remote away. Every time I turn the phone off or even exit the app, if I try to use it again I get the pop up notification asking to show permission for the app even though I have given it and it is in the device manager as a trusted device. I turned off notifications. I turned them on and indicated that it should pop up the first time only. I searched online for solutions. No solution. The app is deleted. Too bad, it could have been helpful. The fact that it actually works keeps it from being totally useless, but it's pretty close.

C’mon Samsung. You make great TVs and electronics. Surely you can do better. This app is not user friendly at all. Every time I try to display photos, this app holds them hostage and refuses to show them OR it puts all the photos on the TV screen in a jumbled up, convoluted hot mess. No rhyme or reason. Not ideal for sharing photos from specific trips or events. It feels like I have to fight to get it to do what I want. The one thing I don’t mind too much about the app is its “mouse” feature, which certainly helps when I give up on showing photos directly from my phone and show them on my FaceBook through the web browser instead. I’m looking forward to reading the next update notice and hope it says something about increased user friendliness.

Make sure your blue tooth is on or this app won’t work. Our Samsung Tv remote gets lost often. This works great for our tv. I have had this app for maybe a year & never had any problems. I think our tv is maybe a year or two old. I have an Apple iPhone X if that helps. Make sure you have your Bluetooth on with your phone or iPad. Not sure why it isn’t working for everyone else. Wish I could help. We have a Netgear router if that helps too. Tip for lost remotes as well for a backup, tape a Tile onto it.

Just like the software on Samsung’s supposed “smart” TV’s, this app is poorly coded garbage. As a programmer I can confidently say that the quality of this app is appealing. You can see the lack of quality and skill before you even open the app, as the icon itself wasn’t even named correctly when the app was packaged in Xcode; it contains some default text left in its title. This is amateur hour, and the problems go far being the superficial issues such as the app name blunder. It’s just appalling, considering the resources at Samsung’s disposal, how poorly this app is made and how often it crashes, freezes and disconnects from a TV. I’d be ashamed to let such a train wreck to represent my company if I put out software of this quality.

The UI is just terrible - the primary feature should be the remote instead it takes three actions to get there. The remote icon touch box is so small that you end up launching whatever random shows they’re displaying that you likely don’t care about anyways. Connectivity is inconsistently stable, sometimes working fine when you bring it out from sleep or sometimes dumped to a random screen that has all your photos. In those cases it’s five actions to get back to the remote screen. This should and definitely can be done within two actions with still getting your precious ads space on the same screen. Did Samsung even bring on a designer for the project? Or just wing it?

Even after the update, I have to restart my tv in order to get this app to work. Then, once I turn my tv off, I have to restart my tv in order to get the app to work again the next day. This is a well known problem. The app worked well for me in the beginning as well, then it began to fail consistently. Both my tv and iPhone X are on the same WiFi network. UPDATE: The issue is with the TVs and this app. They drop connection when they are turned off. No remote app works until the tv is restarted. A fix is to hold the power button until the tv restarts which allows the tv to reconnect. Then the remote works perfectly again. I have a UN50MU6300 and I have version 1230 (the latest).

If you are suddenly getting this error message after it working fine: I got this error message after getting a new phone. All I had to do is acknowledge the ALLOW DEVICE pop up message on the TV when trying to connect to the TV using the app with the new phone. You do need to use the standard remote to click ALLOW DEVICE. After this things worked perfectly again.

Doesn't work when my TV is connect wired (kinda figured, since my phone isn't connected to a wired network), but it also doesn't connect to my TV over the two wireless networks currently set up in my home even when my phone is OBVIOUSLY on the same network. What's the point of this app? Why is it even available for download? It's an utter waste of space on my iPhone. Completely pointless and 100% unusable. If I could give it a score lower than 1 star, I would. Plus app support is TERRIBLE. Who's idea was it to release this trash? And why are you insulting the masses with it? UPDATE: I lost my television remote so I tried this app again. Sadly, it’s still a TERRIBLE app. Completely useless.

This app is simple, but it connected to my 4 year old Samsung UHD tv with no effort and all the buttons needed to control the tv are there and work. There is no “premium” version to have ads removed because there are none. You do have to have them on the same network as others have complained but just about all apps of this type require that so I’m not sure why that’s a complaint. In summary, it didn’t wow me, but it worked as it should without having to dish out money to get ads removed so I rate it high.

Always have trouble connecting. It “discovers” four different TVs in my house but there is only one and doesn’t connect to any of the four it “found”. On the rare occasion that it actually finds is, app still doesn’t work properly. The background mode doesn’t work because I have to stand far enough back to image it that I get windows in the frame and duplicates windows across the screen. Oh and the UI - others have done a better job pointing out flaws. I can just add “ditto”. I gave it one star because I did get it to load photos properly (...and contrary to what one poster claimed, Apple uses JPEG so there are no compatibility issues. The issue is Samsung’s app.)

Yes this app can be finikey but in all fairness I bet a lot has to do with your network. Give it the best chance by connecting an Ethernet cord to your tv from the router. That helped me a lot. I also switched to a different router an it's great now. Check your settings if you know how and don't want to try a new router. Every once and a while it still drops and I can tell that's the apps fault not resuming well going in an out of the app. A few tweaks by the dev team and this app could rock.

I’ve used this app on an iPhone 6s and an iPhone 8 and used the iPad version with two different TVs and found it to be quite impressive. It has almost no delay at all when controlling the TVs functions, the control layout is well designed and it’s extremely easy to setup. Sure at times it would be nice if a keyboard popped up (which it only does for some apps) and the gaming remote is cute but totally unusable but overall I quite like the app.

We were so excited to switch from LG to Samsung in our bedroom because our LG tv app had constant problems staying connected. This one has worked completely flawlessly until the last week. It looks like they did an update and now every single time I try to use the app as a remote, I have to find the actual remote and allow permission for my phone to connect to the tv. If I had the remote handy, why would I need to use the app on my phone? Completely useless now. We were going to upgrade the LG in our living room to Samsung as well due to the convenience and ease of use, but not anymore. Guess we’ll try Sony or Vizio if Samsung can’t get it together.

After 2 years, it looks like Samsung tried updating their app 1 day ago. My iphone is on the same network as both tv's . While I can see and select both of the tv's in the Samsung app, I can't connect to either. When I selected either TV in the app, I receive a "can't connect error (75)" which states the tv's must be on the same network as my phone. This isn't user error. I work in tech industry. Honestly, how many years does it take to fix an app? Startups launch new apps and become billion dollar companies in less time than Samsung updates their app. Horrible experience. I would expect more from Samsung after buying two 75 inch Q9F's.

I just downloaded the app and am exploring. The app is definitely not perfect. The interface is a bit confusing in the beginning, the connectivity lags sometimes. However, I’m am very excited about the app because with some more work this could be perfect. That said, I always have my phone in my hand and it’s more convenient for me to use the app to navigate the tv. If you are comfortable with using the remote, the app isn’t necessary.

For some reason I didn’t need WiFi to screen mirror my phone with my tv which amazing for me. But now this this apple phone I can’t do which make me so mad That’s why I’m looking for good options that help me to connect my phone to my tv but now everything is requiring WiFi. Which I don’t need for more things it was good enough with my data plan that had my company. This is a huge disappointment. I wanted to load digital photos to my 2018 Frame. I bought a Frame in large part for that reason. My mobile device and the Frame are connected to the same network, but the app cannot ever see the TV. User reviews indicate a uPnP coding problem that prevents device discovery for anything newer than 2016. This is a ridiculous issue for a modern smart device, from a company priding itself on being the “next big thing.” The Frame is a bloody expensive TV. Losing this basic function dramatically reduces motivation to invest the additional money. Come on, Samsung! Fix this.

Second Edit: I left the review below several months ago and they did NOTHING to fix the bugs. As an app developer at a major software company, I know Samsung can afford to fix this for their customers, and they’re choosing not to for some reason. OP: I broke the original remote and was going to buy another one. This app works ways better than the original remote ever did. I don’t know why the reviews are so low, maybe the app was bad at one point but it’s really fast now. First Edit: I get why people hate it now. It disconnects all the time and doesn’t automatically reconnect. You have to dismiss the error notification and choose your TV again after it’s found. As an app developer I know this is easy to fix. It shouldn’t show an error notification. It should show an animating spinner and automatically keep trying to reconnect until you tell it not to. I definitely understand why this would upset most users.

A remote control app is generally used to replace the remote. However, this app only stands as a second remote when someone else has the original hardware and is actively controlling it. I didn’t understand the comments about the power button (candidly did not read all of them), but now I do. The app will not work if the TV is off and there is nothing one can do with the app to turn on the TV. Why Samsung would create such an inferior app is really embarrassing. I’ll be deleting it and will have to deal with the lousy hardware remote with a tiny power button that works less than half of the time.

Randomly, I decided to re-download this app. I’ve been using a third-party app but it doesn’t have all the features. So I open it once and boom it’s working. But the moment I’m going to re-open the app is no longer confined my TV. Like the last time when I decided to finally delete the app altogether. I haven’t use this in God knows how long. So my question is why hasn’t this issue been fixed yet? You spent so much money on the TV, great. However, if you’re going to advertise that there’s an app and make one, you should probably* make it as quality as you make the TVs. OR DON’T ADVERTISE THIS USELESS FREAKING APP AT ALL.

Don't even download it. When the app tries to connect to the TV, it fails and says the TV and the phone need to be on the same wifi network. My phone and TV are on the same wifi network. That's all you need to know. The app can't do the one thing it's supposed to do: connect to your TV. I seriously wonder who made this digital pile of trash. You expect better from Samsung. We have a Vizio SmartCast upstairs, and initially, that companion app was terrible. But it's been updated and connection issues have been resolved. It's actually easy to use, and has a widget so you can access it even more easily. Get it together Samsung. If Vizio can do it, you should be able to as well. The leader in Smart TVs should have a companion app that actually works. At first, I thought the reviews were funny because of how angry people sounded at an app for their TV. Now I get it. Don't join us. Don't even bother downloading this lazy attempt at an app.

Uuummm ok, like the title says. Just got the Sammy NU8000, excellent smart tv great picture but apparently not compatible with Samsung’s official app, probably because they want you to buy a garbage galaxy phone. Not interested in that, I’ve had various droid phones over the years and now a couple of iPhones, personally prefer iPhones. Guess I’ll just delete and use one of the better 3rd party apps, thumbs down on Samsung for a garbage app that won’t even recognize their own 2018 model tv. Yes everything is connected to WiFi only have one network in my house like 99% of normal people. 👎👎

I am a computer geek who worked for a software company. When I first configured the app with new TV, it worked somewhat ok. The whole tv app process was clunky and buggy. Did get the app to work though. Once I rebooted router and a new IP was handed out to TV from DHCP server, now app will NOT connect to TV at all. And uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t work because it clearly still has the same tv info in the re-installed app. This might be an apple bug but I think it’s probably a Samsung bug. When a user deletes Samsung app, you should have the choice to delete user data.

1. Don’t need the network lost message, come on.. why do I want to see network lost when the phone is asleep then wake up again? Can the app reconnect automatically when the app is in foreground/ the phone is awake again? 2. Why the arrow button on the remote screen is huge but the arrow buttons are so tiny with extra white spaces on the button of the arrows but not in the touch area? Why the vol - and + buttons are not the same size as the arrow buttons? Weak design with little(weak) QA(s)invested to the app.

Works well with Samsung Qled QN75Q7FAM, IOS 11.2 IPhone 7+. You must give permission to connect on the TV the first time you use the app, but after that it just automatically connects. Controls all of the apps as well as all TV functions and you have a choice between touchpad or directional control. Just be sure phone and TV are on the same network. Four stars only until it becomes more customizable.

Both of my TVs are 2-3 years old and this app seems to work with them as designed. I did take the time to research Samsung forums on the app and familiarize myself with its usage and limitations, so it was a smooth transition for me. I use a WiFi connected iPhone 6 Plus to run most of my home and this makes managing in-house entertainment very convenient. I like it!

Isn’t it just like samsung to advertise all these amazing features only to release their product and have the customers realize only 10% actually work as advertised. I switched from apple to Samsung and back to apple. But I can guarantee you the I will never go back to Samsung, You can only take being lied to so much. This app is just another example. Don’t waste your time it doesn’t work. Maybe, if you have a Samsung device, you’ll be able to get it to work but not with anything Not Samsung (I’m not really sure if these reviews go cross platform though)

I don’t get the name, and also, this app is overridden with bugs and I am getting frustrated with it. Having the name called SmartView_Frame makes me feel like the app is hacked. If you want the functionality advertised, get a new Samsung Smart TV. The newer ones don’t even require this app. You can mirror things onto it from your iDevice. I don’t even think this app is compatible with the new TVs. Also, this app hasn’t updated in around 11 months (as of this writing). Just don’t get this app. If you get this app, unless you like bugs, you will probably uninstall this app very quickly.

I would rather just not have an app than to have Samsung release an app that is so infuriatingly awful to use. It never seems to connect, even when on the same Wifi network. Of about 100 attempts, the app connected to my Frame TV twice. Please someone at Samsung, pay attention to this app. Either take it down or make it work as well as all Samsung products work. I know it’s difficult for hardware companies to make great software, but this is a simple app. All it needs to do is connect to a tv and provide simple controls. Help Samsung help!

Need to make sure all your devices are setup correctly with HDMI link and Anynet. Test your devices (Directv, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, AppleTV 4K) thoroughly. Once completed down load this app and your phone literally becomes the Samsung remote. Great app to have when your Samsung remote goes MIA. Again everything needs to be properly connected and configured first or you will have issues.

I have a very expensive Samsung Smart Tv and an equally expensive smart phone in the form of an iPhone X. Can they be made to work reliably together? No. This app is extremely poor in terms of reliability and functionality. At the most basic level it fails to perform any useful action 9 times out of 10. Added to that the method used to play videos locks you into their own proprietary list view which more often than not says “unable to play this video format” even though it did fine two minutes earlier. I’m an Apple developer myself and I rarely feel impelled to leave a negative review but this app is just so dire I felt the need to get out my angst. My network is fine and my understanding of the steps needed to set up things to work is likely better than most but this app just frustrates any abilities to use it in any meaningful way. What a terrible missed opportunity. :(

It took me a minute to figure it out. So this is for anyone else having a hard time. If you can’t figure out how to select something. Navigate to the upper left hand corner that says Samsung then Settings>remote control> then change to directional pad. Then you should be able to just tap the middle circle of the directional pad to select things. Hope that helps!

I downloaded this app and could not get it to connect to my new Samsung tv using my iPhone 8 on latest software. I then downloaded 9 other apps related to Samsung Tv Remote and they all connect and function. I also tried my wife’s iPhone XR with our tv and still I have the same problem. Came here to the review section to find many people having the same exact problem. So apparently it’s not on my side. This app simply does not work. I boot the app, see me tv in the devices found list, click on my tv, wait while it says it is connecting only for it to fail to connect. The app then displays a notification saying that the syncing failed and to make sure that my tv is on (you tv won’t be discoverable it it is off) and to make sure my phone and tv are on the same WiFi network (which they are). Wish there didn’t have be proprietary apps for every product manufacturer under the sun to get your electronic devices to work efficiently...

I would expect at bare minimum for this to let me type in my searches or credentials for Netflix/Hulu/Plex using a phone keyboard instead of having to use the d-pad on a remote. What is the point of going through all the effort making this app just to leave that out? It should also have more robust features like setting an alarm to turn on the TV and start playing a set program (which also should have been built into the TV itself as well).

Both of my TVs are 2-3 years old and this app seems to work with them as designed. I did take the time to research Samsung forums on the app and familiarize myself with its usage and limitations, so it was a smooth transition for me. I use a WiFi connected iPhone 6 Plus to run most of my home and this makes managing in-house entertainment very convenient. I like it!

If you are suddenly getting this error message after it working fine: I got this error message after getting a new phone. All I had to do is acknowledge the ALLOW DEVICE pop up message on the TV when trying to connect to the TV using the app with the new phone. You do need to use the standard remote to click ALLOW DEVICE. After this things worked perfectly again.

The smartview app does not successfully pair with my Samsung 7 Series TV. However, the smart things app does. It would be nice if the smart view app worked because I think you can share photos and music from a paired smart phone in addition to being able to use the app as a remote control. I hope this app gets fixed.

This is the first app in my life who works well in lan with wire but not with wifi. In the first screen of app it list tvs to choose what tv you need to connect. If I plug my tv in RJ-45 cable it works and my tv appear in app, but if I use WIFI connection my tv doesn’t appear. Maybe this is the issue what many people says the app is nice and others not.

I don’t like this app because you need to have WiFi so you can use it. Before buying iOS I use to Samsung phones the same with my smart tv and other electronics. For some reason I didn’t need WiFi to screen mirror my phone with my tv which amazing for me. But now this this apple phone I can’t do which make me so mad That’s why I’m looking for good options that help me to connect my phone to my tv but now everything is requiring WiFi. Which I don’t need for more things it was good enough with my data plan that had my company. It’s fault for trying something new which don’t have many options as Samsung’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you please take the time to update your Samsung TV apps? Most of them are either old as Atari and are no longer compatible or don’t work because the TV technology has outgrown the app’s capabilities. You only focus on the business apps and if they are not happy with their home devices then they will not want them for their business. I am very disappointed and regret buying a Samsung smart TV. You have the staff, the ability to write code, and the time. You just need to treat your customers like you give a hoot and give them the apps they need to be able to cast and such so they can use the features that people buy smart TV for. I had to take my Roku and hook it up to HDMI 2 so I can use it to cast, mirror, ect.

I left the remote in the bathroom so I decided to give the app a shot. I was able to turn on the TV, select Netflix, browse shows, change shows after playing one, select a final show to watch and turn off the TV at the end. I think the most important thing is that you have to be on the same network as the router and the tv. For some they may be connect to the 5g others may be connect to the 2.4ghz. Double check you are on the right one before condemning the app.

Multiple reboots of all hardware didn’t help. I thought Samsung would have fixed this by January 2020, but it’s not fixed. Please remedy the problems or take the useless app down.

I downloaded the app because my remote was accidentally boxed up in items I’m moving to a new location. I’m very pleased with how I’m able to everything I need (even turn off the TV) from my iPhone. Great app. I hope more updates are to come.

Just like the software on Samsung’s supposed “smart” TV’s, this app is poorly coded garbage. As a programmer I can confidently say that the quality of this app is appealing. You can see the lack of quality and skill before you even open the app, as the icon itself wasn’t even named correctly when the app was packaged in Xcode; it contains some default text left in its title. This is amateur hour, and the problems go far being the superficial issues such as the app name blunder. It’s just appalling, considering the resources at Samsung’s disposal, how poorly this app is made and how often it crashes, freezes and disconnects from a TV. I’d be ashamed to let such a train wreck to represent my company if I put out software of this quality.

This app used to work fairly well with my old iPhone 5. I replaced the old phone with an iPhone 8+ and I can’t seem to get the devices to pair correctly. I continually get the msg: “Another device is trying to Pair with the TV. Please try later” When attempting the pairing process, the TV doesn’t display the pairing code to enter into the phone on my app. In fact, the app doesn’t even ask for it. It’s at the point now where I’m wasting time attempting to make the app work with my Samsung LED 75. There is great potential but the performance just isn’t there. Before? I could give a 3.5 - 4 stars. Now? Barely a 1. Pretty frustrating.

I wish I could give this app zero stars. It did work pretty well on my series 1 Samsung 4K TV from 2015. I bought a series 7 and now it’s garbage. Won’t connect to my TV because they have to be on the same WiFi network. Which they are. And Samsung obviously couldn’t care less because so many people are having the same issue yet they haven’t updated this app in 11 months.

I don’t get the name, and also, this app is overridden with bugs and I am getting frustrated with it. Having the name called SmartView_Frame makes me feel like the app is hacked. If you want the functionality advertised, get a new Samsung Smart TV. The newer ones don’t even require this app. You can mirror things onto it from your iDevice. I don’t even think this app is compatible with the new TVs. Also, this app hasn’t updated in around 11 months (as of this writing). Just don’t get this app. If you get this app, unless you like bugs, you will probably uninstall this app very quickly.

Isn’t rocket science to find a device on a wired network using the WiFi connection...Good reasons have my 1600W/7.2/4K/3.5TB(SSD!) home AV system on a wired network. First have very long random character passwords for security that are impossible to type in on a keyboard whether onscreen or Bluetooth. Second at higher volumes such as maximum comfortable listening level of -30dB don’t want WiFi audio drops which could hurt hearing...Not surprising app is lame. After all my 1st gen 2014 Samsung 4K TV only has one 4K HDMI input not even the ARC so can’t use my 4K AV receiver as the 4K source with ARC. So lame only one 4K input for a “4K” TV...Even brand new Samsung tablet doesn’t have mobile hotspot functionality which is useful for traveling since Microsoft defeatured Windows 10 mobile Hotspot with Fall Creators Update unless use Windows Defender and only default settings at that. Guess Samsung is not my only nominee for the Golden Poo award. So lame.

Downloaded this app and unexpressed. Not only did it intermittently fail but it froze on several occasions which may or may not be an application but rather a TV issue. I have had the same results with other Samsung appliance applications which, when reported, Samsung has not responded or to me I needed to download a newer app that did not resolve the problem. When I can use another Appliance manufacturer without having problems, jumping thru hoops or awaiting appliance upgrades to do what the software is suppose to do, I’m going to buy that appliance.

Yesterday, I didn’t even know that this app existed! My kids lose the remote constantly, so this app is going to be a savior. It has (almost) everything! Volume controls! Directional buttons! Mute! But, the one thing I can’t find is the most important button of all... the “select” button. On my physical remote, there is a big, circular select button in the middle of the directional buttons. You press it to, you know, select stuff. You can even long-press it to get more information about stuff. But, this app remote seems to be missing the select button. I’ve tried tapping in the middle of the track pad. I’ve tried the A, B, C, and D buttons. I’ve tried the pause/play button. No luck. What *has* worked is switching to the in-app gamepad and pressing the A button there. But, that’s really inconvenient. Am I missing something?

Works fine for me. My network is very solid on a netgear nighthawk router so I rarely have any network issues to begin with. All the people saying it doesn’t display your pictures, thank apple for that most likely. The proprietary file format they use isn’t supported all over the place and Samsung TVs are no exception. Streamed a couple small movies with no problems and saw all the converted jpgs on my phone. I really only downloaded it to type search results on my phone, but figured I’d see if I had the same problems a lot of people had. I didn’t. Chalk that up to user error, crappy hardware, unoptimized setups and poor understanding of environment. And I’m sure there’s bugs I haven’t found, but it seems to do what it claims for me

Bought a Samsung TV partly because they advertise this kind of connectivity with iOS. Doesn’t work. At all. Same network, multiple kinds of efforts to enable a connection, lots of internet searches, totally wasted effort. Frustrating. Adding insult to injury my 8500 series TV also won’t connect to Bluetooth audio devices that many other devices find instantly. There’s no TV firmware update to remedy either issue. I keep checking that too. And my router. No stated issues for ports to open or apps to enable via firewall - same network shouldn’t matter anyway. I’m ready to return the TV for a problem that the software engineers could easily fix in order to align to the marketing and users manual. I’m having to struggle after spending a lot of money and buying into the marketing. One Samsung rep replied on the Samsung site that they can’t guarantee connectivity with third party devices. ...For an open standard on an app downloaded from the Apple App Store onto multiple recent devices, iPad Air, iPhone 8 Plus, using different iOS versions - and NONE worked. Clearly - untested before release. Wish I’d known before buying. Hours wasted. Money wasted. Glad it works for at least one person. Wonder why.

This app works perfectly. Im not sure what people are talking about, but it recognized my instantly and the connection is perfect. The beat feature is the keyboard since its a pain to use the remote to type. The mouse is also great for browsing the web. Overall I cant find anything thats wrong with it. NOTE: if the app is lagging, its most likely due to your Internet router being old or not good. Your phone also plays a part in this. Newer iPhone models have better and stronger Wifi connection. The newer models of Samsung smart TV work better with the app also. Its not the app’s problem.

iPhone 7+ with latest firmware, just bought a brand new Samsung 8 Series tv and came across this app for screen mirroring that’s LITERALLY MADE BY SAMSUNG...so I DL the app, first screen that comes up shows available devices and for some reason it says Samsung 6 Series. I click refresh button (the only other button you can push) still says Series 6. Hm. Thought it was odd but whatever, tap on it and after 15-20 seconds I get the same message everyone on here has already been complaining about saying “Failed to connect...”. Then tried it 5 more times, still same error. I never leave reviews but I intentionally wanted to come here and write this. The 2 stars this app currently is rated is WAYYYY to generous. I wish I could give negative stars for wasting my time.

Take their computers, monitors, chairs, desks, phones, etc. and dump it all in the parking lot for someone else to use, because it’s not doing anything good for the people that wrote this garbage app. Everyone that approved this being an acceptable release is an example of what leadership should NOT be. There was no effort in making a this a great companion to a decent Smart TV. This is nothing but broken rubbish, I can’t stream an album without it stopping randomly, or put my music in the correct order, or transition songs without the TV switching modes and having some other noise play between songs. It lacks basically everything to be enjoyable. BTW, no, it’s not my router. Give your consumers something they can use, not just something with a download that does a couple of things sometimes.

I left the remote in the bathroom so I decided to give the app a shot. I was able to turn on the TV, select Netflix, browse shows, change shows after playing one, select a final show to watch and turn off the TV at the end. I think the most important thing is that you have to be on the same network as the router and the tv. For some they may be connect to the 5g others may be connect to the 2.4ghz. Double check you are on the right one before condemning the app.

I downloaded this app so I could stream movies from a separate app on my iPhone 6s+, but unfortunately you couldn't exit the app and view a different app. If the developers of this app would add this feature to the app (not just for streaming movies, just in general) that would be great and I would give a 5 star all the way. The features presented in the app are really cool but definitely not a necessity when you have a smart remote. The most interesting thing about this app was the game console controller function. I believe this app could be more helpful and have more features with a little work.

It’s a little clunky to set up but it does function pretty nicely. I’m using it on an older Samsung 55” with AllShare, the TV is wired to the same network my wireless hub uses. I can navigate my photos and videos, the interface will show thumbnails of the photos but I haven’t been able to get thumbnails on the videos. As long as you know the video filename you can play what you want. The app allows access to all functions from anywhere on my network; input select, numeric channel select, volume up/down, channel up/down, TV preferences and power.

This remote is supposed to be a convenience. My two 1-1/2 year olds constantly try to get the regular remote so I wanted to intermittently use my phone to control the TV so I could put the regular remote away. Every time I turn the phone off or even exit the app, if I try to use it again I get the pop up notification asking to show permission for the app even though I have given it and it is in the device manager as a trusted device. I turned off notifications. I turned them on and indicated that it should pop up the first time only. I searched online for solutions. No solution. The app is deleted. Too bad, it could have been helpful. The fact that it actually works keeps it from being totally useless, but it's pretty close.

C’mon Samsung. You make great TVs and electronics. Surely you can do better. This app is not user friendly at all. Every time I try to display photos, this app holds them hostage and refuses to show them OR it puts all the photos on the TV screen in a jumbled up, convoluted hot mess. No rhyme or reason. Not ideal for sharing photos from specific trips or events. It feels like I have to fight to get it to do what I want. The one thing I don’t mind too much about the app is its “mouse” feature, which certainly helps when I give up on showing photos directly from my phone and show them on my FaceBook through the web browser instead. I’m looking forward to reading the next update notice and hope it says something about increased user friendliness.

Make sure your blue tooth is on or this app won’t work. Our Samsung Tv remote gets lost often. This works great for our tv. I have had this app for maybe a year & never had any problems. I think our tv is maybe a year or two old. I have an Apple iPhone X if that helps. Make sure you have your Bluetooth on with your phone or iPad. Not sure why it isn’t working for everyone else. Wish I could help. We have a Netgear router if that helps too. Tip for lost remotes as well for a backup, tape a Tile onto it.

Just like the software on Samsung’s supposed “smart” TV’s, this app is poorly coded garbage. As a programmer I can confidently say that the quality of this app is appealing. You can see the lack of quality and skill before you even open the app, as the icon itself wasn’t even named correctly when the app was packaged in Xcode; it contains some default text left in its title. This is amateur hour, and the problems go far being the superficial issues such as the app name blunder. It’s just appalling, considering the resources at Samsung’s disposal, how poorly this app is made and how often it crashes, freezes and disconnects from a TV. I’d be ashamed to let such a train wreck to represent my company if I put out software of this quality.

The UI is just terrible - the primary feature should be the remote instead it takes three actions to get there. The remote icon touch box is so small that you end up launching whatever random shows they’re displaying that you likely don’t care about anyways. Connectivity is inconsistently stable, sometimes working fine when you bring it out from sleep or sometimes dumped to a random screen that has all your photos. In those cases it’s five actions to get back to the remote screen. This should and definitely can be done within two actions with still getting your precious ads space on the same screen. Did Samsung even bring on a designer for the project? Or just wing it?

Even after the update, I have to restart my tv in order to get this app to work. Then, once I turn my tv off, I have to restart my tv in order to get the app to work again the next day. This is a well known problem. The app worked well for me in the beginning as well, then it began to fail consistently. Both my tv and iPhone X are on the same WiFi network. UPDATE: The issue is with the TVs and this app. They drop connection when they are turned off. No remote app works until the tv is restarted. A fix is to hold the power button until the tv restarts which allows the tv to reconnect. Then the remote works perfectly again. I have a UN50MU6300 and I have version 1230 (the latest).

If you are suddenly getting this error message after it working fine: I got this error message after getting a new phone. All I had to do is acknowledge the ALLOW DEVICE pop up message on the TV when trying to connect to the TV using the app with the new phone. You do need to use the standard remote to click ALLOW DEVICE. After this things worked perfectly again.

Doesn't work when my TV is connect wired (kinda figured, since my phone isn't connected to a wired network), but it also doesn't connect to my TV over the two wireless networks currently set up in my home even when my phone is OBVIOUSLY on the same network. What's the point of this app? Why is it even available for download? It's an utter waste of space on my iPhone. Completely pointless and 100% unusable. If I could give it a score lower than 1 star, I would. Plus app support is TERRIBLE. Who's idea was it to release this trash? And why are you insulting the masses with it? UPDATE: I lost my television remote so I tried this app again. Sadly, it’s still a TERRIBLE app. Completely useless.

This app is simple, but it connected to my 4 year old Samsung UHD tv with no effort and all the buttons needed to control the tv are there and work. There is no “premium” version to have ads removed because there are none. You do have to have them on the same network as others have complained but just about all apps of this type require that so I’m not sure why that’s a complaint. In summary, it didn’t wow me, but it worked as it should without having to dish out money to get ads removed so I rate it high.

Always have trouble connecting. It “discovers” four different TVs in my house but there is only one and doesn’t connect to any of the four it “found”. On the rare occasion that it actually finds is, app still doesn’t work properly. The background mode doesn’t work because I have to stand far enough back to image it that I get windows in the frame and duplicates windows across the screen. Oh and the UI - others have done a better job pointing out flaws. I can just add “ditto”. I gave it one star because I did get it to load photos properly (...and contrary to what one poster claimed, Apple uses JPEG so there are no compatibility issues. The issue is Samsung’s app.)

Yes this app can be finikey but in all fairness I bet a lot has to do with your network. Give it the best chance by connecting an Ethernet cord to your tv from the router. That helped me a lot. I also switched to a different router an it's great now. Check your settings if you know how and don't want to try a new router. Every once and a while it still drops and I can tell that's the apps fault not resuming well going in an out of the app. A few tweaks by the dev team and this app could rock.

I’ve used this app on an iPhone 6s and an iPhone 8 and used the iPad version with two different TVs and found it to be quite impressive. It has almost no delay at all when controlling the TVs functions, the control layout is well designed and it’s extremely easy to setup. Sure at times it would be nice if a keyboard popped up (which it only does for some apps) and the gaming remote is cute but totally unusable but overall I quite like the app.

We were so excited to switch from LG to Samsung in our bedroom because our LG tv app had constant problems staying connected. This one has worked completely flawlessly until the last week. It looks like they did an update and now every single time I try to use the app as a remote, I have to find the actual remote and allow permission for my phone to connect to the tv. If I had the remote handy, why would I need to use the app on my phone? Completely useless now. We were going to upgrade the LG in our living room to Samsung as well due to the convenience and ease of use, but not anymore. Guess we’ll try Sony or Vizio if Samsung can’t get it together.

After 2 years, it looks like Samsung tried updating their app 1 day ago. My iphone is on the same network as both tv's . While I can see and select both of the tv's in the Samsung app, I can't connect to either. When I selected either TV in the app, I receive a "can't connect error (75)" which states the tv's must be on the same network as my phone. This isn't user error. I work in tech industry. Honestly, how many years does it take to fix an app? Startups launch new apps and become billion dollar companies in less time than Samsung updates their app. Horrible experience. I would expect more from Samsung after buying two 75 inch Q9F's.

I just downloaded the app and am exploring. The app is definitely not perfect. The interface is a bit confusing in the beginning, the connectivity lags sometimes. However, I’m am very excited about the app because with some more work this could be perfect. That said, I always have my phone in my hand and it’s more convenient for me to use the app to navigate the tv. If you are comfortable with using the remote, the app isn’t necessary.

For some reason I didn’t need WiFi to screen mirror my phone with my tv which amazing for me. But now this this apple phone I can’t do which make me so mad That’s why I’m looking for good options that help me to connect my phone to my tv but now everything is requiring WiFi. Which I don’t need for more things it was good enough with my data plan that had my company. This is a huge disappointment. I wanted to load digital photos to my 2018 Frame. I bought a Frame in large part for that reason. My mobile device and the Frame are connected to the same network, but the app cannot ever see the TV. User reviews indicate a uPnP coding problem that prevents device discovery for anything newer than 2016. This is a ridiculous issue for a modern smart device, from a company priding itself on being the “next big thing.” The Frame is a bloody expensive TV. Losing this basic function dramatically reduces motivation to invest the additional money. Come on, Samsung! Fix this.

Second Edit: I left the review below several months ago and they did NOTHING to fix the bugs. As an app developer at a major software company, I know Samsung can afford to fix this for their customers, and they’re choosing not to for some reason. OP: I broke the original remote and was going to buy another one. This app works ways better than the original remote ever did. I don’t know why the reviews are so low, maybe the app was bad at one point but it’s really fast now. First Edit: I get why people hate it now. It disconnects all the time and doesn’t automatically reconnect. You have to dismiss the error notification and choose your TV again after it’s found. As an app developer I know this is easy to fix. It shouldn’t show an error notification. It should show an animating spinner and automatically keep trying to reconnect until you tell it not to. I definitely understand why this would upset most users.

A remote control app is generally used to replace the remote. However, this app only stands as a second remote when someone else has the original hardware and is actively controlling it. I didn’t understand the comments about the power button (candidly did not read all of them), but now I do. The app will not work if the TV is off and there is nothing one can do with the app to turn on the TV. Why Samsung would create such an inferior app is really embarrassing. I’ll be deleting it and will have to deal with the lousy hardware remote with a tiny power button that works less than half of the time.

Randomly, I decided to re-download this app. I’ve been using a third-party app but it doesn’t have all the features. So I open it once and boom it’s working. But the moment I’m going to re-open the app is no longer confined my TV. Like the last time when I decided to finally delete the app altogether. I haven’t use this in God knows how long. So my question is why hasn’t this issue been fixed yet? You spent so much money on the TV, great. However, if you’re going to advertise that there’s an app and make one, you should probably* make it as quality as you make the TVs. OR DON’T ADVERTISE THIS USELESS FREAKING APP AT ALL.

Don't even download it. When the app tries to connect to the TV, it fails and says the TV and the phone need to be on the same wifi network. My phone and TV are on the same wifi network. That's all you need to know. The app can't do the one thing it's supposed to do: connect to your TV. I seriously wonder who made this digital pile of trash. You expect better from Samsung. We have a Vizio SmartCast upstairs, and initially, that companion app was terrible. But it's been updated and connection issues have been resolved. It's actually easy to use, and has a widget so you can access it even more easily. Get it together Samsung. If Vizio can do it, you should be able to as well. The leader in Smart TVs should have a companion app that actually works. At first, I thought the reviews were funny because of how angry people sounded at an app for their TV. Now I get it. Don't join us. Don't even bother downloading this lazy attempt at an app.

Uuummm ok, like the title says. Just got the Sammy NU8000, excellent smart tv great picture but apparently not compatible with Samsung’s official app, probably because they want you to buy a garbage galaxy phone. Not interested in that, I’ve had various droid phones over the years and now a couple of iPhones, personally prefer iPhones. Guess I’ll just delete and use one of the better 3rd party apps, thumbs down on Samsung for a garbage app that won’t even recognize their own 2018 model tv. Yes everything is connected to WiFi only have one network in my house like 99% of normal people. 👎👎

I am a computer geek who worked for a software company. When I first configured the app with new TV, it worked somewhat ok. The whole tv app process was clunky and buggy. Did get the app to work though. Once I rebooted router and a new IP was handed out to TV from DHCP server, now app will NOT connect to TV at all. And uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t work because it clearly still has the same tv info in the re-installed app. This might be an apple bug but I think it’s probably a Samsung bug. When a user deletes Samsung app, you should have the choice to delete user data.

1. Don’t need the network lost message, come on.. why do I want to see network lost when the phone is asleep then wake up again? Can the app reconnect automatically when the app is in foreground/ the phone is awake again? 2. Why the arrow button on the remote screen is huge but the arrow buttons are so tiny with extra white spaces on the button of the arrows but not in the touch area? Why the vol - and + buttons are not the same size as the arrow buttons? Weak design with little(weak) QA(s)invested to the app.

Works well with Samsung Qled QN75Q7FAM, IOS 11.2 IPhone 7+. You must give permission to connect on the TV the first time you use the app, but after that it just automatically connects. Controls all of the apps as well as all TV functions and you have a choice between touchpad or directional control. Just be sure phone and TV are on the same network. Four stars only until it becomes more customizable.

Both of my TVs are 2-3 years old and this app seems to work with them as designed. I did take the time to research Samsung forums on the app and familiarize myself with its usage and limitations, so it was a smooth transition for me. I use a WiFi connected iPhone 6 Plus to run most of my home and this makes managing in-house entertainment very convenient. I like it!

Isn’t it just like samsung to advertise all these amazing features only to release their product and have the customers realize only 10% actually work as advertised. I switched from apple to Samsung and back to apple. But I can guarantee you the I will never go back to Samsung, You can only take being lied to so much. This app is just another example. Don’t waste your time it doesn’t work. Maybe, if you have a Samsung device, you’ll be able to get it to work but not with anything Not Samsung (I’m not really sure if these reviews go cross platform though)

I don’t get the name, and also, this app is overridden with bugs and I am getting frustrated with it. Having the name called SmartView_Frame makes me feel like the app is hacked. If you want the functionality advertised, get a new Samsung Smart TV. The newer ones don’t even require this app. You can mirror things onto it from your iDevice. I don’t even think this app is compatible with the new TVs. Also, this app hasn’t updated in around 11 months (as of this writing). Just don’t get this app. If you get this app, unless you like bugs, you will probably uninstall this app very quickly.

I would rather just not have an app than to have Samsung release an app that is so infuriatingly awful to use. It never seems to connect, even when on the same Wifi network. Of about 100 attempts, the app connected to my Frame TV twice. Please someone at Samsung, pay attention to this app. Either take it down or make it work as well as all Samsung products work. I know it’s difficult for hardware companies to make great software, but this is a simple app. All it needs to do is connect to a tv and provide simple controls. Help Samsung help!

Need to make sure all your devices are setup correctly with HDMI link and Anynet. Test your devices (Directv, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, AppleTV 4K) thoroughly. Once completed down load this app and your phone literally becomes the Samsung remote. Great app to have when your Samsung remote goes MIA. Again everything needs to be properly connected and configured first or you will have issues.

I have a very expensive Samsung Smart Tv and an equally expensive smart phone in the form of an iPhone X. Can they be made to work reliably together? No. This app is extremely poor in terms of reliability and functionality. At the most basic level it fails to perform any useful action 9 times out of 10. Added to that the method used to play videos locks you into their own proprietary list view which more often than not says “unable to play this video format” even though it did fine two minutes earlier. I’m an Apple developer myself and I rarely feel impelled to leave a negative review but this app is just so dire I felt the need to get out my angst. My network is fine and my understanding of the steps needed to set up things to work is likely better than most but this app just frustrates any abilities to use it in any meaningful way. What a terrible missed opportunity. :(

It took me a minute to figure it out. So this is for anyone else having a hard time. If you can’t figure out how to select something. Navigate to the upper left hand corner that says Samsung then Settings>remote control> then change to directional pad. Then you should be able to just tap the middle circle of the directional pad to select things. Hope that helps!

I downloaded this app and could not get it to connect to my new Samsung tv using my iPhone 8 on latest software. I then downloaded 9 other apps related to Samsung Tv Remote and they all connect and function. I also tried my wife’s iPhone XR with our tv and still I have the same problem. Came here to the review section to find many people having the same exact problem. So apparently it’s not on my side. Especially seeing as it’s not a network problem or crappy hardware like router or phone- because other apps connect over the same network.

This app simply does not work. I boot the app, see me tv in the devices found list, click on my tv, wait while it says it is connecting only for it to fail to connect. The app then displays a notification saying that the syncing failed and to make sure that my tv is on (you tv won’t be discoverable it it is off) and to make sure my phone and tv are on the same WiFi network (which they are). Wish there didn’t have be proprietary apps for every product manufacturer under the sun to get your electronic devices to work efficiently...
Extremely limited functionality

I would expect at bare minimum for this to let me type in my searches or credentials for Netflix/Hulu/Plex using a phone keyboard instead of having to use the d-pad on a remote. What is the point of going through all the effort making this app just to leave that out? It should also have more robust features like setting an alarm to turn on the TV and start playing a set program (which also should have been built into the TV itself as well).
