I cannot access my filters
by BigBoyBrid on 2019/11/16 03:11
Silence the update I have not been able to access my filters which has prohibited my ability to find sheet music for a number of instruments I play and has made the app almost useless for me

by Berry Angry User😡 on 2019/11/15 23:44
I’ve had the app and used the website for ages I bought it before the subscription used musescore lot in the beginning of my high school years. Sadly I haven’t used it since I graduated, but I bought a piano, was upset about the monthly subscription and was really excited to see since I was a pro member before the subscription service I have access to all the stuff in the app forever that’s awesome!

There’s a bug
by squid pro quo on 2019/11/15 17:36
I want to give it five stars because it’s a great app for scores. Recently every time I log on the music doesn’t show ties or slurs. I only noticed this like a week ago and I’ve never seen the problem before. I tried logging off and updating but it didn’t help
Great app!

Working hard to become proficient at this great app. Tons of great features!
It’s eh, but has potential
by Janilava on 2019/11/13 07:30
The mobile version suffers from not having a sythesia type of deal the browser one has. Also I can’t compose anything on mobile say when I’m going somewhere. And the song library is laughable because It’s not full enough in my opinion. And when you download it and you log in, they ask you to say what instrument do you play, where there are two categories for “Keyboard” and “Piano” seperately and when you pick the genre of music, it still dumps in those overused songs that every beginner is learning when I clearly state that I’m a professional to the app. So, why do I give it 3 stars and not 1 or 2? Because it has some potential and I’m waiting for the improvements if theres any.
nice to listen to
by k33113 on 2019/11/12 19:32
i love to use this app just as a music box, but it does not seem to have any setting for continuing to play music while backgrounded or screen-locked. would be a perfect app if it could do that!
Potential to work amazingly
by aaronburrrsir on 2019/11/11 22:23
It works really well once you find music but the search is wacky. If I try to browse music it randomly reloads and crashes and brings up the same 5 or 6 pieces over and over again. This is really annoying and if it was fixed it would be great.
CHARGED MY CARD TWICE!
by rm41mor on 2019/11/11 04:23
Buyers beware! I purchased this app at the promotional price of $29.99 on November 4, 2019 and they charged my credit card. Today they charged me the FULL PRICE of $52.99 and charged my card AGAIN! I am a new member and so far I’m not impressed! Hopefully they’ll conduct themselves in an honest manner and refund my $52.99 IMMEDIATELY
Fraudulent - Stay Away
by Dtys262 on 2019/11/09 07:41
They billed me, multiple times, while LOCKING the features you pay them for. Steer clear. You will be billed but not get the benefits. There are better ways to throw your money out the window.

AVOID THIS APP***
by denpanew on 2019/10/29 21:10
Free trial still charged $50 for a “free” trial. Apple said that they could not even give a refund. Love how the free trial defaults to a whole year at $49.99.
Dissapointing
by BioFan91 on 2019/10/29 07:18
Honestly, the whole point of getting this app was/would be to write and edit my scores from my phone or tablet instead of having to go to a computer and do that. For me, this app is pretty useless.
Hi!

Seriously?
by Isabelle Mardis on 2019/10/23 22:51
In my younger days of playing violin, I could go onto this app, pick a song I wanted to play, and play it. Now, instead of even giving you the OPTION of viewing the music, the developers have decided to put up a paywall. This app, this whole website, was based on a free community of composers and songwriters, good and bad, to post on a FREE app. Now, if it'd been a single installment of maybe two to five dollars, I'd be more receptive. But instead- and get this- the developers have decided to charge a MONTHLY fee of 7 dollars, and a yearly one of 50. First of all, this app since I last checked, doesn't even have the option to compose. It's just to look at scores. Second, this app has unofficial music based off of official scores without the presence of an actual official score. Some of them are bad, but that was the beauty of having a free community where people could take an idea and run with it. If you're going to put up a paywall, at least get some official scores. Third, I can't even see if this app is worth it, because I can't pay the astonishing amount of cash to even get IN. The beauty of this app and website was that it wasn't perfect, but it had a strong community and a following that was excited to see what else they could do with so much potential. I was a part of that community, until now. For an app that used to have so many bugs, I don't see how it could be worth so much. But then again, I can't leave a very accurate review on how the app performs now, because I can't even access it. If you're not going to lessen the amount of money grabbed from what used to be a strong and willing community, then can you at least tell me why you've decided to charge so much?
Great app

This app is so broken
by Enter a Nichname please on 2019/10/22 23:44
Overall this is an okay app. I enjoy being able to find music then learn the notes and rhymes of the piece. But what is really frustrating is how if a score has lots of parts whenever a new measure hits and you are viewing the top of the score it then instantly goes to the bottom of the score. Also with one of the newest updates I am unable to favorite music scores and the scores that I had favorited before the update disappeared. The apps search feature is also very broken in the since that if I’m searching for a specific instrument with 3 parts it’ll still show pieces with a different number of parts and sometimes additional instruments with in the piece. The search feature isn’t as frustrating as the first two issues. If the app didn’t have some of these issues I would enjoy my time with this app much more.
Missing Keyboard Tutorial
by NotARealPianoPlayer on 2019/10/19 19:56
Website version include a keyboard “guitar band” style tutorial that helps if you can’t read music that well. The app is missing that feature.

Yayy so goof
Works okay.
by ac_pro on 2019/10/19 13:19
This app works okay and serves its purpose, however it is buggy. Some scores won’t even load at all when you open them, it’ll just be a blank white screen (even after restarting app). Playback sometimes randomly stops and won’t ever resume.
Musescore is great
by gdpeacock10 on 2019/10/17 21:58
Love this software, it works great. One thing that would be amazing to see down the line would be a way to scan sheet music and have it rendered into a musescore. But for now this is very helpful to me because I can barely read sheet music and having a software that has an easy interface play the music for me let’s me learn song (I’m a singer) in a way I otherwise would not be able to.
Please fix this
by DC3156 on 2019/10/16 01:44
I’ve been sitting here for the past half an hour trying to pull up a piece only for me to click on and the whole app freezes.
Great Resource
by caleb_goins1120 on 2019/10/15 17:53
This is a wonderful app for collaborative music making and for sharing compositions! While it is not always accurate, there are some truly amazing arrangements and original pieces of music that are extremely helpful. Just another great resource for professional and amateur musicians alike!

Seriously?
by NopeDealer on 2019/10/08 15:31
So, yeah I downloaded the app and started the seven day free trial, and that lasted about three hours until I cancelled my subscription and deleted the app. The song book is completely non-functional and that’s the end of the story for me. I see from other comments I am not the only one, so the question remains for the developers: Seriously? Also, I am sending you a bill for the three hours of my life that I spent trying to get your non-functional crap working.
This is for printing out pages.
by WolfyPulse on 2019/10/08 02:17
Ok so this is my problem: i want to print out pages so i can play the piano but i cannot print without paying the membership? This is rediculous. I didnt have to waste my time downloading this app because the website prints it for me for free. Im dissapointed. I mean, im only some kid who doesnt understand anything so im not sure if its copywright or stuff, but why do i have to pay 7 dollars a month to print out one song every three months?????? I like this because the website was completly free and i thought i could trust this app. I am sad.

Sound mixer doesn’t work anymore
by DL DC on 2019/10/03 01:56
I loved this app for rehearsing my choral music, as the mixer made it easy to separate my section, but since updating to the new version on iOS 13, it plays all the sections, whether I chose “solo” or reduce the other sliders.
Useful
by ColtraneVirtuoso on 2019/10/02 02:06
Great app for getting music on. I have been using it for years and they gave me free premium for life so that’s awesome. Only thing I would change is a way to quick scroll through music because it takes forever when you’re searching for something. Other than that it’s a really good FREE app
I used to love it
by carolynanns on 2019/10/01 13:48
I’ve been using this app for a few years, and it has been a big help to me as I direct 6 choirs but do not have the funds for a rehearsal accompanist. This app has bridged the gap for me so I do not have to be stuck behind the piano playing parts. However, I now cannot control what is being played in the app. If I want to isolate one part, it still plays them all (even using the mute buttons and solo option). I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and updated everything multiple times, and playback is still messed up. I pay $50 a year for this, and would gladly continue if this was fixed. If it isn’t, I will have to look for a different solution.

Lag till crash & repetitive login
by Patty China on 2019/09/28 03:49
When browsing the music library for a while, it gradually gets lagging, until crashed. It might be a bug in using the memory. Also, it can’t really save my login information, so I need to login every time opening the app.

by Cjhfcjfcchjf on 2019/09/27 17:18

Turning pages is a pain!
by Pianoprodigyloljk on 2019/09/24 19:12

Not worth your time or money.
by danLeeAk on 2019/09/24 04:30
Avoid subscribing to this app. App has computer glitches. For example, when playing a score the sound becomes distorted. Also, I experienced problems with the tempo in compositions. Any serious musician or beginner should not use this app because it will only hinder your creative and developmental process. It is not worth your time or money.

One of My favorite music App
by Nic2396 on 2019/09/21 16:16
Muse Score is an app I come back to time and time again not just for finding music but also for writing music. I have found the interface for composition purpose to be well made and simple to work with. I play a multitude of instruments and being able to write music for one and then modifying it for another has been made realitivily simple on all fronts. I also like the aspect of being able to find music that people have put and added to share because some times finding a piece can sometime take a lot of time and then the cost for that single piece to me isn’t worth it. The draw back I find is that I can’t always find the pieces I want.
Good but buggy
by Nielsen557 on 2019/09/20 22:41

Loop feature incredibly frustrating!
by Brontosaurus55 on 2019/09/18 19:02
How does anyone create an accurate loop with this app? No matter where I press my finger to start a loop, the loop starts back at the beginning of the song. Once a (wrong) loop is created, how the hell do you get rid of it? You would think just clicking again on the “loop” icon would do it, but it doesn’t. Also, if I happen to let the song run on a bit, why does clicking “back” mean I need to open the song again? Couldn’t I just go back to the page I was working on? I NEVER bother to write negative reviews of apps, but because I thought this one was going to be so useful for me I am very frustrated. Maybe I just don’t understand how it works but since there are no real instructions it’s hard for me to tell.

Too glitchy
by Lizard babies on 2019/09/12 11:14

I like MuseScore I post my compositions on it, but I was trying to record Brahm's Lullaby but every time I try to turn the page the blue top bar appear, then I try turning it again and the blue top bar goes away. I did 23 recordings and only ONE of them the page turned! I hate bug change it! If you change I'll leave a 5 star review.

I would give it five stars if 1. You didn’t have to pay for pro to access most things. 2. If it wouldn’t keep automatically scrolling to the middle of the page, because I can’t even read the music if the app keeps scrolling the middle of the screen!

What happened to my $2.99 pro?
by Bob the honest dinosaur on 2019/08/31 09:26
I’m just beyond confused to say the least. I had used Muescore for years and (at the time) had opted for the $2.99 pro version that was available. I thought I’d support the company that helped my band mates and I write a lot of our tunes. After moving abroad and getting the itch to compose again, I’m greeted with a $60/year option? I payed for the “pro edition” and was under the impression that (that) was the end of it. I liked Muescore because of it’s occasional user friendly interface. However at $60 a year (which they may increase again at some point) I’d prefer to just invest in finale. If you long for the old days of Muescore, don’t waste your time or money.

by Katz!!! on 2019/08/30 18:39
Since the new update, many features and abilities have been lost. It seemed to be more of a downgrade than an upgrade. by fhgfhgfgf on 2019/08/28 02:44
I don’t get why you would make the “export to PDF” a pro feature. I get it, you guys need to make money, and I’m fine with ads too. But charging 7 dollars a month just to print out some sheet music is ridiculous.

by tiredtopher on 2019/08/20 22:29
Since my laptop/tablet 2-1 broke, I've been using my phone for looking at sheet music, piano tutorials, etc. MuseScore's keyboard view on their website is incredibly useful but their mobile site is laggy and unreliable. I downloaded this app hoping it would be more reliable and I was sorely disappointed. There is the same button for keyboard view but all it does is turn the page sideways and zoom in. I CAN read sheets, but having a keyboard view is significantly more useful for me. Is this a feature or a bug? Do I have to get PRO in order to access keyboard view in the app? If so, that's terrible considering you don't have to do that on their website.

Good app
Not sure what I’m doing wrong with regard to “scroll”
by Jizzity Jonz on 2019/08/19 06:12
I like the MuseScore idea a lot, the online community, the format, it’s part of the future of how software makes things easier. I’m not sure why, on my device (iPad mini) I don’t seem to have a “scroll” option. I’d rather not be limited to the sudden page turn option, being able to see ahead is way useful.
Just a big pain
by NomisBalderk on 2019/05/20 19:21
If this app actually worked, I would love it! I play the piano and the trumpet and this app has a ton of awesome songs to play. The day I downloaded it, everything was great, I found some really great music, learned some cool things, and just overall had a great time. But since then, the app has just been horrible. The interface covers up a whole line of music, and if you try to remove the interface it works sometimes, other times it doesn’t work and often it will misunderstand and turn the page. However, If you try to turn the page, most of the time it won’t do anything or it will toggle the interface. The problem is, there aren’t any controls for the functions you want, you just have to tap, swipe, or pound on the screen until it does what you want it to. Oh yeah, also, often if you turn the page it does the little page turn animation but doesn’t actually turn the page. Then no matter how many times you try to turn the page, it just stays as the same page of music (or it toggles the interface and you scream at your phone and you post a lengthy-one star review about how much you hate MuseScore)
Good right now, but could be much better.
by Dusiastic on 2019/05/23 22:10
So this would be a 4 star, but there’s one thing that I think would make this app a whole lot better. That thing is, to be able to make score sheets in the app, or at least have an app that solely focuses on the ability to make score sheets that pairs with this app, as in you could upload scores you make in the supposed sister app from this app. And I haven’t exactly come across some of the issues other users have had with this app, except for when I try to open score sheets that are very long, so for instance medleys which tend to be over 10 or 20 minutes long. Every time I try to open a very long score sheet on the app, it freezes and I can’t do anything except for close the app and relaunch it. Meanwhile, the website has little to no problem opening the same exact score, and just to be clear I use a laptop that is over 2 or 3 years old, it’s a Dell and is not exactly great, and I use google chrome as my default browser. Other than that I don’t have any real problems with the app, and if you could conjure up something that allows users to make score sheets on their mobile device and upload from this app when on the go, that would be quite a make up for the mentioned “issues” that users comment on that I can’t seem to find or come across.
AMAZING!!! But a few suggestions/problems
by LittleDude😇👿🤓 on 2019/06/29 02:21
I love this app. I think it’s great and all but I am having a problem with turning the page or sometimes when I am trying to repeat a measure, it does it in a totally wrong place. Don’t get me wrong this is the best app for music I have ever found! Also I have a few suggestions. 1. Maybe allow people who are making the sheet music, to put numbers on for certain instruments like the piano. 2. I don’t know if you could do this but hopefully you can, allow the people who make the sheets to include a video so that others know the correct fingering if they need more than just numbers. If it weren’t for these problems I would DEFINITELY give this app 5 stars.
Don’t see PRO as a very wise choice...
by DarthVaderIsLukesFather on 2019/07/30 03:36
Recently, MuseScore has changed its site entirely and requires a PRO subscription to download and print almost all music created by writers or translators. Before, it was a simple site where people could share music as a recreation and people would download them, and MuseScore would make money through advertisement. I may be biased and understand funds, but I believe the choice of ‘PRO’ mode isn’t a wise one. The reason MuseScore was such a popular site in the first place is because it was free, could be easily navigated, and was the software for creating music was highly polished. Creators are supposed to get the ‘benefit’ from pro mode, as their content can’t be downloaded without permission. Still, people who are trying to make money out of sheet music shouldn’t be uploading on a site like MuseScore anyways! You should be charging users for using the creation software, not the browsers if you aren’t already. The ‘PRO’ mode can still be easily bypassed, so there’s no point in upgrading anyways.
Ain’t What It Used To Be
by Jake Iowa on 2019/01/17 23:02
I started using this app so that I could use Finale files on my Mac Book Pro and my iPad after the creators of Finale Notepad threw Mac devices under the steam calliope. For a while, it worked well on my Mac and I could post my music to the online server and then access them on my iPad. Now, it seems clumsier, and I can see only five of my songs at any one time on my iPad, unless I upgrade to “MuseScore Pro.” I seem to remember paying for the app in the first place, so I am certainly unhappy to be asked to pay again. When I have contacted “support,” my questions always seem to be misunderstood and are not adequately answered. After about five tries when I asked why I could see only five songs on my iPad, I finally was told 1) I needed to pay yet again; and 2) there might be a fix for this problem in January. I am afraid to click the update button. So I would have given the app at least four stars, mainly because of nearly non-existent instructions. Now, it gets no more than two, and since it has limited usefulness to me, that’s a generous gift.
Unreliable, unresponsive, and a huge downgrade
by spenjwilli on 2019/01/16 23:15
Since the MuseScore Songbook app was retired and replaced with this app—which, as I understand it, new users actually have to pay a consistent fee to use—I’ve almost never been able to functionally listen to scores on my phone. When I download a MuseScore file, it’s a gamble as to whether it’ll stay in my Songbook or just display an indefinite loading screen. If I manage to get past that, sometimes scores will just crash while playing, often on their very first page, even if they’re very simple scores. Then, somehow, if I get lucky enough to be able to play an entire score, I have to grapple with extremely finicky and unclear controls. If I want to skip back to a specific measure, I’m left struggling with the unresponsive page-turning mechanic and have to try multiple times until the app will let me select my desired measure. Of course, that’s all assuming the UI is even showing up around the score in the first place; I think you’re supposed to tap to bring it up and tap again to see only the score, but it’s more like it decides at random. If you’re going to establish a subscription service for your app, put out a quality product. At the very least, it should have maintained the already mediocre quality of the old Songbook app. Instead, the drop in quality is beyond baffling. Please invest in hiring legitimate app developers, and maybe a MuseScore subscription would finally be worth recommending.
Bad since last update
by DebNCatz on 2018/10/13 00:37
The app has lost features that I used. The functions that are there don’t work correctly most of the time. I have contacted the company and have not received satisfactory answers. I paid for Pro so I would have access to advanced features on the app which allowed me to transpose the music and export PDFs of the music transposed and by single part if needed. I can no longer do that. The company has stated they are considering restoring those features, however, I can no longer use the app as I intended to. As the app is no longer of use to me, I stated I would pay for the months that I used, and requested a refund for the balance of that year. They have refused to refund my money or any portion of my purchase. They told me that I need to use a PC instead. That is not why purchased Pro which include the app. I would like to use the app the way it functioned in the past, if it does that in the near future I may change my rating, but for now serious disappointment in the app and the company’s response.
PLEASE READ
by Annonymous😏 on 2018/09/10 22:05
Before this update the app was AMAZING and I loved it to death. I’m an advanced pianist and I use this app every day. I take it on the go wherever there’s a piano. This means there usually wasn’t WiFi available so I downloaded the music to my songbook (thanks to the $2.99 one time purchase which is very efficient and blessed 10/10). I would proudly say I used MuseScore whenever someone asked where I got my sheet music. It was amazing and was my favorite app. I’m sorry, but this new update is worse than ever, the format is intimidating and bland and now you guys are just pulling even more money from people’s pockets. The notes are automatically zoomed out and tiny and it’s gonna be annoying to keep zooming in on the notes every time I open a piece of music. The quality itself just downgraded so badly I feel like I’m using iOS 6 and I’m taken back to the era of iPhone 4’s. I can’t download music to my songbook without the subscription- worse yet, more than half the songs downloaded to my songbook disappeared. 6.99 subscription every month? Come on, you’re kidding yourselves. I know you need to make some profit but subscriptions draw people away. Monthly or annual payments? What a shame. Please take it back to the previous system and formatting. It was PERFECT and was working GREAT before. There was absolutely no need to update this. Otherwise, I’m very upset and disappointed with the app I once adored. Please take this into consideration and fix it.
Change default sound
by Jace Henderson on 2019/02/21 21:19
I always listened to scores on my browser rather than the actual app because the browser has the actual sound of the piano the score has instead of the mediocre sounding one in the app itself. The browser version has been bugging out lately, the track keeps playing forwards when I click to replay a measure while it replays the measures visually so the measure highlighted isn’t what’s actually being played, and about a minute or so into a score the audio cracks loudly and the song restarts while the highlighted measures continue on. Because of that I can’t listen to scores on my browser because it’s severely bugged at the moment and using the app works but the piano sounds horrible. Sound means a lot to somebody like me. It would be nice if you could add the default piano sound rather than the apps current one that sounds nothing like the scores.
Want to love this app but...
by rem41387 on 2019/06/23 22:06
Really want to love this app. At first download it worked pretty good but since has been the buggiest app I’ve ever used. There is always some issue: the sudden app crash upon the click of any sheet music or function, erratic controls when you flip the sheet music page or try to drag the repetition slides, screen doesn’t flip orientation with turn of device, constantly logs out of account, and right now when I open the app can’t even click anything because there is a small box centered on the page (a buggy splash page?) that can’t be closed out so the app is completely unusable. I could probably list a dozen other functional issues that have occurred over the last 6 months of using the app. When the app does work, I truly enjoy it and hope the developers can work through these issues. I will happily return if so but unfortunately until then this app too maddening to use.
Fantastic!
by Bubbymg on 2018/09/13 17:53
Muse score is basically the best app I've ever used to find music for different instruments. The ability to find music for different instruments makes it easy to put together little bands that can play together. The transposing button is awesome so you can change it to whatever key you want! The play button allows you to listen to how the score is supposed to be played giving you a place to start and sort of your own little teacher. You also have the option to print off scores, it's a little confusing, but worth the struggle. And the ability to write your own scores is awesome! They have an application that you can write music on and share with everyone! All in all, an awesome platform for writing and finding music!
Don’t Make a Subscription!
by Scalebrine4pres on 2019/01/01 21:30
MuseScore has some of the worst business practices I’ve ever seen. I signed up for a one week trial with MuseScore to test it. It was pretty good but I decided I don’t need to go PRO. So I canceled my subscription through the Apple app. Well... they never got the notification and decided to charge my paypal account that I used to set up my account. It wasn’t the monthly rate that they billed me for they went straight to the annual rate! Tried to contact them and they said they don’t refund according to their “policy.” Website doesn’t have a phone number just an email and when you try to respond back to their email they don’t. Try to contact their PayPal account they won’t get back with you. Tell your problem on the forum and ask to get a hold of customer service some rude guy named JoJo Schmidt responds. If I could give this app 0 stars I would. As for the app itself, it never worked always said I timed out. WORST COMPANY AROUND! SCAMMERS that aren’t there for customers just the money.
Helpful, but flawed
by HeyItsNami on 2019/05/16 02:15
The service that MuseScore offers is fantastic: a way to easily compose music and share it. The companion app, however, is rough around the edges and borderline unusable at points. UI/usability glitches include: menus that come back after you dismiss them; music pages changing erratically; irrelevant results throughout the search menu; internet searches showing up and blocking out the My Favorites tab; menu areas not extending to the edges of the screen; the inconsistency when hiding UI elements while looking at a piece of music; every song you’ve favorited being forgotten about; occasional account logouts you didn’t ask for; etc. The core function of this app is still present with a lot of time spent navigating, but sweeping renovations are needed to make it feel clean and friendly. I hope more development goes into making this a more seamless user experience.
i love this app but it’s a pain in the 🍑
by imbeciIe on 2019/06/28 18:13
it USUALLY works but every once in a while the app says “you don’t have anything in your favorites” blah blah blah when i do have stuff there. idk if it’s my wifi, or the app, but either way it’s getting tiring. another thing, is that a couple days ago there was this small rectangle in the middle of my screen, and i couldn’t even use the app because it was frozen or something,, other people had this problem too. i loveee the concept of the app, and i always find the best songs to play when i’m bored or during rehearsal breaks. i also use it for a duet and/or violin 2 when i don’t have someone to play with. it would be 5 stars if there wasn’t a bug or something wrong with the app almost every time i use it. whenever you have a problem with musescore, i recommend the app “Flat” it’s basically the same thing.
New update makes it very difficult to read and use
by KirbySaysHi on 2018/10/27 19:52
The previous version was definitely barebones, and I appreciate that the developers are attempting to add new features and make improvements! Unfortunately the new version makes using the app as a reading tool (for playing at an instrument) cumbersome at best if not impossible. The page turn animation is so slow that I have to stop playing to wait until the next measure is revealed when sight reading. My iPad is less than than a year old, so I know it’s not my device. And the previous version was more than fast enough. The layout of the individual symbols has regressed to the point that symbols and notes and chords are on top of each other, covering and jumbling, making it impossible, sometimes, to read the notes. And finally, as others have noted, the default size when a score opens is extremely small, even on the slightly larger iPad Pro. Having to manually change the size is fine, and I’m glad it’s possible, but that’s when the jumble of symbols happens! I am grateful the developers have grandfathered my account in feature-wise, and also acknowledge that this app, at least for me, is free. Thank you! I hope that further updates to the app give me confidence (and opportunity) to pay for the hard work it takes to construct an useful app.
Useless customer service
by dazzle016 on 2019/06/19 12:50
My main complaint is not so much the app, but the company itself. I was on a 30 day free “pro” trial, which it turns out is not even necessary for effective use of the app and sheet music (although they sure make it seem like it is). I went to cancel the day before it ended, but there are multiple steps to cancellation and it apparently didn’t end up going through. Upon being charged $49 I emailed customer support and explained what had happened. Firstly their customer service hours are in GMT time, so it took me an entire week of emailing once per day to get a response. Then, I emailed again just before a weekend and have had no response since (4 working days). The customer service representative was lazy and unhelpful, not even answering my questions and instead sending links to the policies. Extremely disappointed in the service, and due to this (on top of the lack of music available), I would never recommend using this.
Percussion sound fonts are broken
by Unclesusan21 on 2018/07/05 16:14
I’ve been using musescore on my MacBook since 2014 I think, and it’s an amazing open source solution to music notation. The iPhone app however, not so much. I can’t find a way to start a new score which isn’t a huge problem for me because the main reason I bought this app is so I could play them back to my professors without just opening the mobile website. This works great for most scores I have but all of them with percussion tracks (specifically stand tunes that I am trying to get accepted into our rotation at my college) play as if they’re a synth keyboard of some kind, and of course the sounds that it make are horribly out of key. I’m unsure if there’s a way to change the sound font in the app like you can on the desktop and Mac applications but it’s a big problem I hope is updated.
Pay to Play..?
by Chases View on 2019/01/22 01:42
I remember the good ol’ days where I could download this very app to see and save amazing, user-created sheet music for almost any song I liked. The community seemed to be aplenty and I really enjoyed playing everything there was to offer. I slowly stopped playing as much due to family constraints, having a child, etc. Fast-forward about 2 years - I redownload the app and expect much of the same, to be able to see and save amazing user content. Instead I’m greeted with a screen asking about the instrument I play, as well as the music I enjoy. Following that, I’m asked to commit to a monthly / yearly payment plan to JUST GET INTO THE APP, which is completely absurd to me. Maybe I’m just out of the loop, but I never realized that this app became Pay to Play. Maybe there is a better alternative out there. I’ll definitely be on the lookout to see. But until they stop this Pay to Play nonsense, I will not be using this app.
Just Because It’s Now Free Doesn’t Mean You Have To Go OUT OF YOUR WAY To Make It Worse
by Motherlyy on 2018/09/08 23:46
While I’m grateful that the app is now free, everything about the recent big update is incredibly flawed, much more so than the older one. The sounds have significantly decreased in quality (I actually really enjoyed the sound of the French horn but now it seems to always hit some random out of tune note before every single pitch, it drives me nuts), selecting certain things are hard (and my phone is relatively sensitive so this is not a phone issue), and the app crashes way quicker than before. It used to only crash for me when a song with a lot of parts was played, and now it seems to crash randomly. The only two improvements I’ve seen so far is 1. The saxes seem way less out of tune than before and 2. The dashboard is easier to handle now. Really disappointed, and I might just use your PC version until this is fixed.
Plz fix the issues as soon as possible
by shell_leather on 2018/12/08 22:52
OMG!! This app used to be super excellent but guys... what happened ?? I’ve been using this app for over a year. The latest update causes the app crash all the time. And my iphone gets overheat and it always burns my hand whenever i’m using the app!!! Weird, right?! And there are also problems in turning pages or in choosing bars when using the score. I’m totally obssessed with this app, and i got super excited when my acount turned into pro version automatically because i was an old user!!! So thank you because of that. I’m sooooo greatful. But plzzzzzzz fix these issues cause they are serious problems!!
Sound?
by SilverShade87 on 2019/08/08 19:17
This app is amazing for a music player like me. I find all sorts of amazing music on this app, especially movie and game music fitted to my instrument. An issue I have repeatedly noticed is the sound quality when playing a score. This issue may just be a strings thing, but when I listened to a score on the webpage on my phone, the score sounded great. I could clearly pick out the violin, cello, and viola. When I played the score on the app, it sounded like a machine, just playing the notes. The webpage sound had vibrato, and actually sounded like what the song was. The app made the score sound bad, even though I knew the songs were amazing. Other than that, the app is very easy to work with.
Pretty Bad
by [$]Dnoop Sogg on 2019/05/17 10:31
If you’re looking for someone that can make a good app almost unusable, it’s the people developing this app. There are so many basic things that aren’t working properly, if you’re wondering here are some that I encounter: -When scrolling through scores some will be invisible -Once a score is tapped, it might not load/ crashes sometimes -When zooming out/in in a score, it will vanish and still be playing, even after waiting -While in a score, tapping the center to get rid of the top bar causes the score to vanish, but still play -When exiting a score it will take you to the top of the list you just looked through, causing you to have to look through it again -Random crashing -Red bar that indicates where score is playing becomes out of sync with the score -The app is overall slow and unresponsive (which is why I prefer the website) With all of these issues it makes the app very difficult to use. This app used to be great, everything worked properly, so we know you guys in the development team can make a good app, it’s been seen before. For any people wondering about using the app over using the website, I’d recommend the website. Not only does the website actually work, but the instruments on the website sound better too.
Please adjust.
by rbx15 on 2018/12/01 20:07
This app used to be amazing with free easy access sheet music. Not only has the update caused the app to be weird it also has caused the app to not even show any music. It always tells me that there is a network problem and I need to logout. When this first started I would just log back in and be able to access my scores, but now I’ll login back in and it will tell me to logout again. If I try to X out of the network notice then it will say I have no internet and can’t view any scores. If there is anyway to fix the problem I’d love to continue to use this app but until then it is completely useless to have.
MuseScore’s Decline
by TheSpaceSquid on 2018/11/18 02:46
After the “big” update, the app just doesn’t work properly anymore. When going through the browse menu the same songs keep popping up and will now freeze the entire app if you go too far. The songbook for me now never finishes loading and I can not look at any of my songs I have saved. Many song when limiting the instrument you can view get screwed up. The app always has “unexpected errors” and I think that the update focused more on cleaning up the graphics and organization of the app instead of fixing the core purposes... Sad to see, I’ve been using this app for a while and I am even a pro member. It seems as the app has taken a step backwards.
One of the best
by ManyardFergy on 2019/02/04 11:30
Have you ever tried to become a musician? Do you love music or at least like it? So, that means that you have probably searched the app/play store before looking for music apps. This is one of the best. It monopolizes the other companies that try to give you like the cheapest app out their that just gives you a quiz on like where is a concert g? This app is awesome especially for musicians who need and need and need more music under their belt. You can look up anything and it’ll show up. This version of MuseScore is a “pocket edition” that doesn’t have everything on it. For instance, it doesn’t have the program download to make your own music(I want it soo bad on my phone!). But I can and have downloaded it on to my computer. Another problem is that the sound is electronic so you can’t even play swing or any jazz unless the artist writes the syncopation out with slurs(it takes a while) So, MuseScore is totally awesome and is great for any level of musicians out there now. But also please try the internet MuseScore that you can make music from! Enjoy!!
Glitching in music
by Lopez389428 on 2019/04/28 19:06
I found that in some of your music sheets like Billie Jean ( 14 instruments) the music glitches and gets off beat. It really becomes an inconvenience whenever I am trying to follow the music and it isn’t on time. Also, it can be fairly frustrating when the song name billboard won’t go away while you are playing to just see only the music. You end up flipping pages and missing notes because I am trying to just see the music, not the entire billboard of the name and the play button. Please make it more convenient to just see the music and all parts. Thanks, have a good day.
Musescore comments
by Aidan Grivas on 2019/04/04 13:33
The concept of musescore is amazing, I love how if I wanted to present music or find music with friends I can do so with ease, and do lots of just that. The major issue with musescore is that it needs a lot of bug fixes, like when I update my score in my laptop and save the score online the score will not update. As soon as these bugs are fixed this would be a better software than most, actually. There is a bug where every time I close the app I have trouble accessing my scores and must resort to using my browser. Please fix your bugs for your musescore premium users.
I can’t do anything with the app.
by Al27V on 2018/11/21 05:30
I’ve had it for a little while now but I don’t use it often. The last time I used it was a few months ago and it worked perfectly fine back then. Now, however, nothing works. I log in and it just tells me that I need to log out and log back in because of connection issues or something. When I do that though, it just tells me the same thing over and over again. At first, I just kinda gave up and clicked cancel. I went into my songbook and everything loaded perfectly fine in there but when I try to search for another song or use any other tab, it just goes back to the log out notification. I made the mistake of trying that again and now I can’t even access the songbook. I’m just kind of upset that I spent money on an app that does nothing.
Super Cool!
by Allen's Matchmaker Tyllen Fan on 2017/08/29 02:07
Alright! With this app, your phone isn't going to turn off on you as you play your instrument! Finally! My phone often thinks I'm no longer using it when I don't press it every five minutes. So! This definitely solved my small dilemma. Another cool thing is that you can switch between transpositions, from A major to C major or any other major. (If my theory is wrong—it's probably cause I didn't study it that much). ( ;∀;) Though.... You can't print straight from this app. You'll have to login on the website, download the sheet as a PDF, then print it from there.
Non-downloadable/printable music
by Kitty cat lover101 on 2018/10/04 01:19
I don’t know if this is just happening to me or everyone but if you don’t pay for the pro version you can’t download the music. All of the options to download or save are in the pro version. Even if you try to share it to your folders, on iPhone, or share any where else, it just shares/saves as a link to the music. So I say this app useless because if you go to the website you can download the music you want without any problems. I’m sure if you pay the $50 a year or $7 a month this app is great, but I’m not that serious of a musician and would like to keep my spending on sheet music to a minimum. I know my review is only about that feature, but that’s all I really use it for other than occasionally listening to the price before downloading and printing it.
bad app
by Ughtyyi on 2019/03/11 22:22
I decided to download the app since I regularly just search up sheet music on my search engine and this usually pops up. And I have to say, I was hugely disappointed. The app itself is much worse than the website, which is still broken. I expected to find a functional app that properly shows sheet music, which I believe isn’t too much to ask for, yet I find a badly coded app which does the one thing its supposed to do terribly. When I’m trying to work on a specific part, it’s practically impossible to select it, and there are many glitches. And don’t even get me started with the horrendous prices for the “pro mode”, which I presume is not even close to being worth it. The features available in “pro mode” should be free, because with the non-“pro mode” features, its garbage.
Quick turnaround
by Sconers on 2019/03/18 18:09
I thought the free SongBook version for playback purposes had been lost. None of my own scores in Dropbox would copy to MuseScore at all. I had sent a “help” question about this just yesterday and today I deleted the iPad MuseScore app that I had downloaded only 2 days ago, and downloaded the NEW VERSION that was only finalized YESTERDAY. The new free version works fine! All scores open quickly when they are “copied” and then remain on my iPad in the “SongBook folder” in the app for offline use! That’s a great change.
No keyboard view?
by tiredtopher on 2019/08/20 22:29
Since my laptop/tablet 2-1 broke, I've been using my phone for looking at sheet music, piano tutorials, etc.
Needs work!
by Tolstoy38 on 2019/06/06 21:43
Loved and used this program for many years on the PC. But the iPad version, especially since it is now a monthly paid version at a pretty steep price, needs to function well and it does not. For example basic functions like turning on/off individual tracks in the mixer doesn't work - some work and some don't. Visibility of individual tracks works unreliably, uploads/ conversions take forever (what is there to convert, it is a native format). No downloading my own files to the iPad? Come on! No editing and score creation options of any kind? Come on! Will check back in a while to see if some modicum of a rounded app has been restored.
Horrible Update
by GuardianWolfMoon on 2018/11/04 19:10
I got this app because it had a lot of music sheets but when I find one I like it won’t let me add it to favorites. Well I’m not sure it’s just with the piano song Moonlight Love but it worked the a few months ago. The song was just gone from my favorites. It’s so frustrating. I thought you all fixed the 'no score' issue. Apparently, it seems like you didn't. I'm browsing but nothing shows up. This destroys the entire purpose of the app. Plese fix this major issue. Another thing I would like to see is more replies coming so the people reviewing know that you read their review. We want to be able to know that you are acknowledging our expectations for this app. Please fix this app. I hope to hear your reply very soon.
I’m happy with this app again!
by jpenni47 on 2018/09/07 19:35
So there was some glitch that removed all my favorited songs and I thought deleting the app and redownloading it would’ve worked but it just got rid of everything in my songbook. The app constantly crashed and I was just unhappy with it. Seeing that they updated it I tried it out again and my favorites are back and I assume it won’t crash constantly anymore but even if it does, I feel like they’ll hear me and fix it. Really glad they’ve done this!
Developers - Please bring back v. 1.13
by YZHU922 on 2018/11/24 03:16
Do not download this app. It has too many bugs to be called a product. Please respect and be responsible to your customers. We paid you for you to stay in business. The version 2.0+ is a disaster. The developer has revised 13 times since its initial release two months ago. Not only did it loose the features which were available in version 1.13 or earlier, but it also had so many bugs that the app was practically not usable. For example, the latest version would automatically stop a song that is being played when a new song is added to its database. I have written to the developer. He replied and said that he would fix the problems. However, he never did. I am a paid Pro user. A day that this app does not function as it used to be, my paid subscription is wasted. Developer, please bring back MuseScore v.1.13. You should restore all the features that were available in version 1.13 and fix all the bugs before releasing it to the public. Please respect and be responsible to your customers. We paid you for you to stay in business.
The mobile version isn’t very good
by 🎷Epic Sax Guy🎷 on 2019/01/12 15:42
I downloaded the mobile version thinking it would be more convenient than the mobile site. Except it’s not. The menus are completely different. And they keep pushing you to get the Pro membership. Also, I uploaded a score from my computer, and I can view it in the mobile site. But in the app, it doesn’t show up under my scores. I thought it was because I was using Musescore 3, and the app didn’t support it yet, but the last update added compatibility. Please fix your app. And use the community page where you can view posts and new music as the first page you see. Not a random list of songs for other instruments, even though I selected mine when I first started the app.
Greedy last updates
by Lim.Tbk on 2018/12/22 20:29
Initially I had free version of that app. I added my notes, that wasn’t in musescore notebase to allow everyone use them for free. Then free app disappeared, and only paid app was available. Ok, I spent some money to buy it and got songbook feature for that. But then restriction for only 5 songs for free on website appeared. Ok, I moved all songs to songbook. But now with last update songbook ask for monthly subscription (that I already paid when purchase application). Also app started to behave strange - wrong scale, ugly notes. I don’t understand why I have to pay again - I’m making content for all, and use app features that was already there. It seems that this app change owner to greedy one. Will look for alternatives...
Percussion sounds are wrong
by MagmaMan15 on 2018/09/03 15:03
Like some of the other reviews mentioned, the drum sounds are played like they’re on a synth keyboard making it practically impossible to listen to. I downloaded this app for use with marching snare and with brass parts. With these sound issues, I have given up trying to use it for percussion, but the brass parts sound fine. You can also only playback to the beginning of the music, which is a limiting factor. This app is ok for some basic sheet musics searches but unless these problems are fixed, I don’t think this is a particularly useful tool, especially for percussionists.
Disappointed
by Kusunokima on 2017/11/22 17:05
While I’m always happy to find a way to support the development of open-source, cross-platform software I love with an actual financial contribution, the inability to notate score and no way to import musescore files from google drive have left me feeling that “I want my money back” itch. I can’t use the app at all in its current state! There’s no way for me to open a score. There’s no way for me to start making one. To be clear, I would readily have given a dollar or two to support musescore anyway. However, that only takes the slightest edge off of it for me. I still bought an app that is completely incompatible with my workflow and feels like it’s trapped in 2011. I can’t just not be mad. (Answers to the most obvious questions: Some users don’t have or want an online account. Some, like me, can’t upload one from the PC. It’s 2017 and the iPad Pro could easily be the perfect portable notation tool if this app could work with it. I could go on forever, but 4 paragraphs is already way more than enough for an app store review.)
So problematic
by jtennisball87 on 2019/05/18 13:09
There are so many things wrong with the music playback. I will be playing the music, following along while playing my instrument, but when I try to pause it, the music either turns the page, or just skips music completely. Making it full screen seems like a very unnecessary hassle. Why is there not a fullscreen button? These were all things I could deal with, until I tried to pause my music, only for the score to go back to the very first page, having me to turn many many pages to go to my last spot. However, when I pressed play, the score went back to the beginning AGAIN while the music continued to go from the spot I left off at. Very problematic.
Disappointed
by starwarsguy4427 on 2019/06/24 00:36
This app used to work very well. I went without using it for a while, and just recently tried to start using it again, except it doesn’t function nearly as well as it used to. The feature to transpose things no longer works for me, even with the new update. If I try to lower the key of something, the notes just go up an octave and the key doesn’t change at all. Also, if I try to go into the menu to change the tempo or key, once I start using that it doesn’t let me exit the menu. Don’t really know why this is happening, and I really wish I could actually use the app for its intended purpose.
Very useful... once you get it to work
by Vincent399 on 2017/12/19 16:41
I’ve had this app for a while now, and it proved to be wonderful. The scores play nicely and it is relatively easy to find scores to play. I love to see the community produce lovely scores and such. However, I am not sure if this is an issue with the app or my device, but searching for scores on the community tab is difficult. My phone’s keyboard would pop up but freeze mid-way. The app also crashes due to this issue. I am not sure why anytime I want to search a score, the app freezes mid-way and my phone becomes unresponsive to everything.

I cannot access my filters
by BigBoyBrid on 2019/11/16 03:11
Silence the update I have not been able to access my filters which has prohibited my ability to find sheet music for a number of instruments I play and has made the app almost useless for me
Happy
by Berry Angry User😡 on 2019/11/15 23:44
I’ve had the app and used the website for ages I bought it before the subscription used musescore lot in the beginning of my high school years.

Seriously?
by Isabelle Mardis on 2019/10/23 22:51
In my younger days of playing violin, I could go onto this app, pick a song I wanted to play, and play it.

Works okay.
by ac_pro on 2019/10/19 13:19
This app works okay and serves its purpose, however it is buggy.

This is a wonderful app for collaborative music making and for sharing compositions! While it is not always accurate, there are some truly amazing arrangements and original pieces of music that are extremely helpful. Just another great resource for professional and amateur musicians alike!

by NopeDealer on 2019/10/08 15:31
So, yeah I downloaded the app and started the seven day free trial, and that lasted about three hours until I cancelled my subscription and deleted the app.

Great app for getting music on. I have been using it for years and they gave me free premium for life so that’s awesome. Only thing I would change is a way to quick scroll through music because it takes forever when you’re searching for something. Other than that it’s a really good FREE app

Lag till crash & repetitive login
by Patty China on 2019/09/28 03:49
When browsing the music library for a while, it gradually gets lagging, until crashed. It might be a bug in using the memory. Also, it can’t really save my login information, so I need to login every time opening the app.
Used to be good
by Cjhfcjfcchjf on 2019/09/27 17:18
It used to be a wonderful app, now it’s pretty much uncontrollable, it’s glitchy, bugs out at bad times, covers the music, and you switch the controls every update so it gets worse and worse

Turning pages is a pain!
by Pianoprodigyloljk on 2019/09/24 19:12
The app itself is great, but please revert it back to where you can just tap the side to turn a page, not having to swipe across the whole screen!

Good but buggy
by Nielsen557 on 2019/09/20 22:41
It’s pretty good especially the selections of songs but after extended use of the app I’ve noticed how wip/buggy it ia
This is blackmail!

Too glitchy
by Lizard babies on 2019/09/12 11:14
No clue if it’s any good, can’t get past the ads. It freezes so you can’t close the ad, then the app closes itself. It’s not bad if you’re using a computer but forget it on an iPhone or iPad.

Sometime in the update, my favorites library was also cleared which held the songs that I am currently working on. I love this app and want to see it succeed, but this is just annoying.

by fhgfhgfgf on 2019/08/28 02:44
I don’t get why you would make the “export to PDF” a pro feature. I get it, you guys need to make money, and I’m fine with ads too. But charging 7 dollars a month just to print out some sheet music is ridiculous.

by Piano Quintet on 2019/08/26 10:49
The muting of the voices is buggy. Also you can no longer choose to show the score of each voice independently of the voice you choose to play. Update: they just screwed us with an app update such that the songbook is no longer available in the free version.

No keyboard view?
by tiredtopher on 2019/08/20 22:29
Since my laptop/tablet 2-1 broke, I've been using my phone for looking at sheet music, piano tutorials, etc.

Enjoy!!
Needs work!
by Tolstoy38 on 2019/06/06 21:43
Loved and used this program for many years on the PC.
