Restricted function to the service I've paid for
by Advenight on 2019/08/17 19:33
"Don't worry. We did not restrict your scanning quality. You still have access to everything you once unlocked. Best regards Bennet" However, one of the "new features" started is - best scan quality. What do you mean I have access to everything once unlocked? I HAVE unlocked EVERYTHING by purchased this product in the past!
The Best Scanner App
by Babcia92 on 2019/08/17 12:59
Works great 👍🏻
Somewhat useless unless paid
by bobdole432 on 2019/08/14 06:10
Primary use case of this app is to scan black and white documents. Contrast setting is disabled without paid upgrade and defaults look bad under good conditions. Don’t waste time if looking to quickly scan documents.
Say no to subscription.
by nobody612 on 2019/08/13 11:27
Say no to subscription. You guys increased the price by 900% from $6.99 to $69.99. Is this the true measurement of unsustainability of the previous price model? Let the market decide Scanbot future.
Not worth it anymore after they switched to a subscription based model
by Svetlyo on 2019/08/10 14:29
I paid for this app and after I reset my phone and reinstalled it, the restore my purchase option was gone. Now, I have to pay for a subscription to unlock features that were in the paid version. Avoid at all cost. Don’t support greedy developers.
I used to love this app for years!
by TJTENNISPRO on 2019/08/07 00:36
I paid $7.99 3 years ago for this awesome app. Now it’s a subscription and won’t even open for me. Crashes every time? Also you have removed some features that previous users had. App developers have been suckered by Apple. They convinced app developers to charge recurring subscriptions in order to take back control of the App Store.
A paid app goes subscription
by m c l a n e on 2019/08/06 01:15
I liked this app a lot while it lasted. I don’t know why I paid for “pro” ages ago if it was just going to go subscription anyway. At least iOS will have this sort of scanning as a native feature soon and I won’t have to deal with $24.99 subscriptions to take pictures of paper.
It seems that I caanot buy the in-app purchases
by performer.jam on 2019/08/02 11:27
When I open the pro function it reminds me to subscript but how can I purchas the in-app purchas?
Just say no to subscriptions
by xJTWx on 2019/07/30 16:09
Yet another app I paid for moving to a subscription model. This NEVER ends well.
Does not recognize QR code
by NtaKon on 2019/07/26 09:04
Good overall, but it doesn't recognize QR code
Great app
by dmjec on 2019/07/26 00:04
I feel like I can get rid of my scanner. This app is perfect. I would get the pro version, but the price I just too high for a phone app.

Major deprecation of Fax services
by activereader on 2019/07/22 14:51
The latest updates destroyed the user friendliness and reliability of faxing. In my case, the link between important for the Share Extension and the document appearing in Scanbot, is completely broken and useless.
It was a great app...until recently
by kjv21 on 2019/07/22 11:34
Have used this app for years to keep track of receipts for business and it has been everything I could need. It has been amazing. This last month something I was promoted to buy an upgrade and locked out of use of the app. It appeared that in order to access the use of the app and to recover previous scan I would need to purchase an upgrade. This issue was compounded by the fact that, first I’m not sure why I have to buy it b/c it was working finely to this pint and second, every time I tap on any storage options there is an error message so even if I did want to purchase it, I can’t. It at least three days of very concerned on/off searching to figure out how to regain control of the app. I did eventually figure out how to do this, but am no longer anywhere as enthusiastic about this app. To hold my 7 months worth of tax receipts hostage as a marketing tool is a very low tactic. Bottom line, be prepared for a hard sell into their premium tier. This app seems to be more about making money for the developer than the ease of use for the consumer.
Best scanner app!
by Tb919 on 2019/07/14 23:47
I’ve tried quite a few scanner apps over the years, and this recent find of mine is by far the best. The function to automatically upload scans to a google drive folder is a game changer for me. Free version provides more than enough features for functionality.
No subscription. There are better.
by Joehv on 2019/07/12 20:48
Great product but better ones without subscription. Sorry Was Great
Workhorse!
by JuicyJay587 on 2019/07/12 13:29
I’m most likely one of the many iPhone users to try every last productivity app the App Store has to offer. For me personally I have to scan and organize dozens of documents for work. I’ve played around with every scanning app, file manager, and general PDF management app in the App Store and let me tell you Scanbot does the job of at least 3 or 4 apps combined. The quality of the scans are amazing, the file management features are incredible, sharing options, markup, etc all top notch. Security was a huge plus also(nothing is stored on their servers, you have the option to password encrypt any file you please. Throw in the fact it’s a fax machine with very reasonably priced in app credits and what you got is a solid, reliable, secure powerhouse of a productivity app! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for this type of app.
Asking for more money
by DougS80 on 2019/07/09 20:42
I bought the original full version of this app and now I’m being asked to pay an additional $.99 and on top will be charge 22.99 every year thereafter. If I didn’t have so many docs in this I would certainly cancel. SCAM SCAM
Updated 7/5/2019
by Joe-Camel on 2019/07/05 15:32
Latest version is less capable of recognizing and snapping business receipts, unfortunately. I switched back to genius scan which is now slightly better and faster.
Decent app, irritating spam
by Stee-rider on 2019/07/03 19:42
This app follows one of the most irritating design paradigms ever: any time you click a button to do something, a screen pops up telling you you can't do that unless you pay. Basically it's one giant piece of adware for... itself? Scanning seems to work, but I'm not going to give this company 8 bucks just to find out more. Blech.
No
by lwabbit on 2019/07/03 16:23
New pricing model is not sustainable for customers. I had paid for this app awhile ago, and hoping they would improve the file management layout, but the new subscription model is ridiculous. I’m moving back to Scanner Pro as well as starting to use the standard Note app for scanning my documents. The last straw was the latest update on my phone, it no longer focuses on the document. Everything I scan is blurry now.
Scanbot
by Boss302Guy on 2019/07/03 05:55
2015.. This is the first review I have done and also the first scan app I have used and its comes in handy quite often. Text recognition works with most documents but could be better on non document items.. All in all very handy app 7/2019 *** Updated paid pro price when Scanbot first came out and gave 5 star review but after years of use now I no longer recommend this app. Now they want more money and more money.. now I feel like a newby user and just have the basic features. Time to pay another company so I can feel like a paying customer and get treated like one.. I have told everyone I work with to skip this app and find a better one.. I have recommended this app to colleagues for years until this past month when I saw what scanbot was doing to its paid users.. shame on you
What is going on?
by HiThereYouPerson on 2019/07/02 16:47
First the devs have problems communicating the switch to a subscription model (seriously guys, if you want to see how to communicate look at AgileBits or OmniGroup). Current version it is still an opaque mess about what you actually are grandfathered into and it constantly pesters you about buying their subscription (also a no no). Now on top of that the new update seems to have a high failure rate for detecting documents (same documents I’ve always scanned in the same environment and lighting). More money, less features, Scanbot Subscription.
Good scanner
by jsnt1 on 2019/07/02 00:43
I cannot longer recommend it. I understand that selling pro versions is not giving the developers the revenue they want, but abandoning a perpetual license model that was supposed to include future new features is not the way to treat long term users. You should’ve left pro users alone with the product they expected to have purchased, then stop selling perpetual licenses and introduce the subscription model for new users. Selling into the existing base is tempting and definitely profitable, but alienating a segment of users that won’t go along with the new model could backfire. Good luck.
Not ok with subscription model
by Lomity on 2019/07/01 17:22
Understand devs need to make money but I am not ok with subscriptions. Make major releases a one-time purchase option at a reasonable price, perhaps $10 at most.
Avoid
by Kysoko on 2019/07/01 09:39
Avoid this app, paid for Pro version but now this version will not get any new options. There are much better options from other scanning apps. Don't support this shady developers.
This app has saved me SO MUCH TIME!
by mdturco on 2019/06/27 18:39
I’m so happy I found this app— as a small business owner it has saved me hours of time. Keeping track of my receipts is a breeze. I would highly recommend to any small business owner!

Subscription
by Serendipity24 on 2019/06/24 18:11
Bye bye Scanbot. You had me gone as soon as you changed to a subscription model. Never have paid for subscription, never will. Bye bye...
Best scanner you can find.
by RandyScan on 2019/06/23 17:11
I use this scanner everyday. I save all my scans to OneNote and Evernote. I do lots of research and I never lose data and can find things easily. This scanner makes it easy to move scanned data.
Migrating nightmare
by nellysisgone on 2019/06/23 03:16
Not sure what is going on but I have used and loved this app for years. Haven’t been able to open it for several days because of an endless Migrating Library splash screen. If your update makes an app unusable (and consequently the user’s old data inaccessible) for several days, you’re doing something very wrong. Fix it.
Full version purchased in May. Subscription in June and no notice.
by Hen327 on 2019/06/20 19:18
I purchased the pro version in May and then I go to use it and it’s asking if I want to subscribe to use the features I thought I had purchased. I want a refund. They claim they didn’t change things but now I can’t sort things or edit PDFs and it’s the same as the old free version. I also can’t restore my purchase in iTunes.
$25 yearly subscription???!!!
by AG1981x on 2019/06/20 17:54
I did not mind paying a premium price for the app, but yearly subscription model for a scanning app is s greedy. Sad to see this app go this rout. At least there are plenty of apps with the same functions without the subscription model.
What’s up with that Subscription Trend?
by ThePoor20s on 2019/06/16 15:29
I’m leaving “Scanbot.” This new subscription model is way too overpriced and ridiculous it defeats the purpose of this product. What happened to owning nice things. Does everything has to be a subscription? Buying a portable scanner is cheaper than using Scanbot’s money hungry service.
New pricing is awful
by MOOSELOCK on 2019/06/16 01:47
This has always been a great app but the new pricing is ridiculous. One version shows $70! Then, the version I have says you can pay $24 a year for extra features like sorting your files by name. Not very enticing. At least make your yearly subscription cost less than what used to be a pro version.
New version disappointing upsell
by CyberHilt on 2019/06/14 15:10
Leave great alone. Intrusive extra features that make simple single step procedures into 3 step ones (like deleting files) annoying
I refuse to patronize subscription based apps
by Zantaf.io on 2019/06/14 06:08
I **BOUGHT** Scanbot two years ago. The subscription based model is a CANCER on apps. Why can’t we **OWN** nice things anymore? Be it a warning to other app developers: switch to a subscription business model and I’m taking my business out of yours! BYE BYE SCANBOT!
Bye Scanbot
by Triathelite on 2019/06/13 17:38
I have used this app for a while and it’s been good. But seriously, $22.49 a year for a scanning app that you can get for free from another developer?! I don’t mind supporting other developers, but what happened to paying once for an app? If every app developer wants $2 a month from me, I would be spending $2500 a year on apps that are helpful, but not critical. This is not something anyone should be spending $22.49 a year for - it’s insulting. Good luck, guys.
Very happy.
by Soon_to_x_dubizzle_user on 2019/06/12 15:28
Perfect for my work case scenario.

by Englishelle1 on 2019/06/11 08:59
Great app, it is so convenient and easy to use.
The great one
by Roge37 on 2019/06/10 14:22
I don't do reviews a lot only when the app is really bad or really good. So this one is the one that deserves my best review. I hope people the looks to get an app scanner, get this one.because it dose the job very well, and it doesn't take a genius to use it. Open the app focus a file or picture and the app dose the rest. It is that simple. That's why I gave my best review . Better and better. UPDATE. TODAYS 6/6/19 UPDATE BROKE THE APP ITS NOT OPEN NITHER iPhone or iPad. Please fix it. Update as of 6/9/19 this app has been fix. Thanks.
Subscription, Folders not great.
by MorsesCode on 2019/06/10 13:03
Why is there folder rename option on every back button? Constant inadvertent renaming interface. This is bad UI design.
Nag screens never go away... ever
by sasha_nola on 2019/06/09 20:52
Had this (paid) app for a few years now. As a scanning App it works well, and I have no reason to replace it. However, the “rate this app” nag screen never goes away, and neither do the adverts for the developer’s other apps. Over time, these “features” have gotten more and more irritating and I will replace this app with a better behaved variant as soon as I find one I like.
broken right now
by pjack3191 on 2019/06/09 20:22
Great app, but since latest update it doesn’t work for me
Subscription price is way too high
by ChristopherMN12 on 2019/06/09 16:42
I’m very happy to support sustainable development of the apps I use and love. The $4.50 per year initial price is fair. But the $22.50 per year after that is just ridiculous. It’s nearly as much as the new Carrot Weather top tier subscription price. And that gets me a TON of useful new features that are accessible via constant API calls to their servers from multiple devices I use (iPhone, Watch, iPad). All that this subscription gets me are some updates to an already feature-rich scanning app. I’ll happily support you at the ‘discount’ rate but I’m immediately disabling auto-renew until you re-price the ongoing subscription to be more reasonable. Question: I assume that after one year, if I don’t renew, I’ll be downgraded back to the ‘Scanbot Pro Classic’ with all those features still unlocked. Is that right? If not, I and many others will move to other apps like Scanner Pro from Readdle. Your app is great. Don’t kill it with an unsustainable price (from the users’ perspective).
Subscriptions are Terrible
by TripleThink on 2019/06/09 15:33
I looked for a long time to find a good scanning application. I thought I had found one. Subscriptions are the curse of the app store and I will never use an app that requires them. I am more than happy to purchase and pay for good applications. Charge me more one time, but don't charge me a subscription. Time to find a new app.
Bad decision
by Mjf101471 on 2019/06/09 03:51
Not a fan of subscription based apps. If I paid for the pro version I should get all the latest update features period. Very disappointed. You ruined a great app.
Worst New Scanbot 9 update...
by Chairman71 on 2019/06/08 20:42
Once bestest application...now moving towards worst experience ... New folders outlook is pathetic ... Bought application previously and again scanbot asking for new yearly subscription charges for reason unknown ... New features should have been free for previous users who already purchased application previously as they were then charged one time subscription fee...scanbot team needs to think over this very unfair decision...
Another good company bites the dust
by WillyBurtz on 2019/06/08 18:41
One word. Subscription. Enough said.
Excellent Scan App
by Delquist on 2019/06/08 18:38
I recommend Scanbot to all my family and friends. It is already a great app but seems to get a little better with each update. It is the best phone scanning app I have used for both Android (Samsung S7) and Apple (iPhone 6s, 7 and XR).
Latest update better
by Leeabe51 on 2019/06/08 18:13
After 9.0 was released it felt like a step backwards in UI, never mind the subscription stuff. Latest updates have improved it and it back to working closer to how it did in 8. It’s still very finicky though, saying it’s too dark even under the same bright light I have been using for years with Scanbot. Subscription doesn’t look to be worth it. I would have gladly paid for a reasonable app update as well.
Great app but does not start
by Ametwalli on 2019/06/08 12:45
Version 9 does not start...
Not Opening After Latest Update!
by Right Away? on 2019/06/08 01:07
HHHHHEEEEELLLLLPPPPP! App is not opening after the latest update! It will say migrating library and close! This is non stop! Please fix! FURTHERMORE, LIKE THE OTHER REVIEWERS, PREVIOUS LOYAL USERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN GRANDFATHERED IN WHEN YOU MOVED TO A SUBSCRIPTION! NOT GOOD! THIS SUBSCRIPTION WAVE IS GOING TO PUT A LOT OF APP DEVELOPERS OUT OF BUSINESS!
Lost almost all pro features even though it says you don’t. Beware!!
by MattSCHugo on 2019/06/08 00:40
I think it is completely BS that I had the pro version then you just decided to take it away and make it a monthly charge. I have no idea how that works. I want my old version back!!!!
Crashes every launch
by GreenPrell on 2019/06/08 00:32
Something about the new version causes the app to crash on every single launch. Seems to happen during data “migration.” I’ve used this app for a long time and previously rated it a 5 but I’m forced to rate it 1 star now.
latest version crashes “updating library”
by deef67 on 2019/06/07 18:27
In their zeal to add subscriptions for new features, the developers seem to have skipped some more basic testing. The app is now impossible for me to use.
Great Scanner, Less than Stellar Interface
by Mr. Javelina on 2019/06/07 15:12
Been using Pro for several years. This app produces great scans, but the interface has been lacking until now. Unfortunately, some of them are only available via subscription. Sadly I can’t justify this. With the additional scanning abilities of iOS 13, I’m of the opinion that Scanbot will become irrelevant to myself and many others.
Crashes on launch
by dksaga on 2019/06/07 14:25
Pls fix it
No Subscriptions.
by HailAlistair on 2019/06/07 13:30
Everybody now wants to be a subscription. No thanks. You are a scan app, not Adobe Premiere (and even for that it’s disgusting!). I am very sorry that the devs joined this ridiculous and distasteful move to “all you can do is rent now!”. The cherry on top is that this version introduced the subscription and also crashes at launch! Well done. Well done. I’m sad. :(
NOPE! 😤Grandfather in Full Purchasers!!!
by Island Life on 2019/06/07 13:17
Hey Scanbot, when I bought the top tier version of your app it was with the understanding that it would be the best version and up-to-date with the best features. Creating a tiered subscription service is shady and you should have grandfathered in your loyal users. I’m not recommending this app to others anymore. Way to kill the goodwill! 👎👎👎👎👎
Still crashing
by NilsKoll on 2019/06/07 11:32
Updated to v9.0 yesterday and never managed to use app, stuck after launch. Updated to 9.0.1 in the hope that it would work, now crashes every time after starting «Migrating library». Worst update ever!
Ruined by greed.
by Long words on 2019/06/07 00:16
I thought I bought the pro version years ago. Oh well, there are many more apps like this one and I will never trust this company with my money again.
Abruptly upgraded to a subscription model
by jasonw754 on 2019/06/06 16:00
This is absolutely the best scanning app out there, and I’ve been using it for years in pro mode after paying like $4 once. Now they’ve abruptly switched to a subscription model, which is fair and I totally support it, but there was no transition. Yesterday I was doing just fine with Scanbot, but today I can’t do the same stuff without paying up. The company’s blog says all features that I previously paid for will still work and I’ll only need to start a subscription if I want new features, but yesterday I was using folders, and today I can’t because it’s apparently a new feature since the folders look a little different. The iOS Notes app has since become able to scan documents pretty much just as well. I ignored this before since I’d already paid for this app, but now I find myself back in evaluation mode and I’ll have to consider weaning back to Notes since it’s getting a nice update soon.
Bad news! SCAM! CORRECT SCAM, Not Scan!
by Pswart on 2019/06/06 13:09
Long time user. Now suddenly it’s subscription time. Gone are the benefits for those who originally paid for it. Thanks. I’ll be dumping the app! Wow and they respond by saying no no, no, we did no such thing. “Follow this link to be enlightened by our thought process”. What BS. Scam artists. Stay away from this developer and all its products. What a scam! Time to boycott this behavior and exploitation. Buy one thing, get ripped off later. Come on Apple! I spend $ thousands every year to stay with you.
BAD UPDATE
by _thejames on 2019/06/06 01:20
My previous 1star review disappeared This version has removed features that I paid for in previous “Pro” versions. There was no warning and no way to opt out. BAD DEVELOPER!!! “Restore purchase” doesn’t allow reactivating any OCR features or auto uploading. To customize tags it’s now a $23/year “upgrade”. And my fax history is missing too. You guys have lost your way
they ruined the app
by VLM2016 on 2019/06/05 00:37
They are losing customers by their shady tactics Plus app doesn’t work anymore. It would s stuck in the middle of processing a document now so every time I open the app, it quits on me. I don’t know how to remove that last document- I can’t keep the app open long enough to stop it from processing that one that’s stuck or to delete it. I’ve tried everything! Wrote to app support, no response yet. So disappointed.
Took away my pro features
by IMACIFI on 2019/06/04 23:23
I bought pro and with this last upgrade my Pro app went to the free and took all my features away. What the heck??
“This is more than fair,” say developers
by settruffles on 2019/06/04 16:58
If you want to read the blog post on why the developers switched to a subscription model, you’ll find a list of rationalizations that don’t hold water, narcissistic boasting, and some mention of how they’re still better than some imagined evil straw-man developers. Then they actually say “this is more than fair,” as if they aren’t biased by their financial concerns. It comes off as quite out of touch. They say people who paid for pro features in the past are grandfathered in, and that’s good, but there is no clear and visible language stating that. I had to go to their responses to these reviews and their blog to see that. Ultimately, the reason I’m upset is the feeling no amount of logical arguments against it can silence: a feeling of instability. You think you buy some software and can use it for years, but this sudden switch—without warning—reminds you that anything you think you bought and own can be ripped away from you on a developer’s whim. Especially in an age of automatic updates in the background, where you have no chance to read release notes until it’s too late. I have nothing against developers getting the pay they deserve for a good product, but I thought I already opted in to a price I thought was fair for my individual use case and how long I estimated the software would remain useful.
Scanbot

Great app!
Stopped working
by FZGP on 2019/06/03 20:20
The app stopped working on IPhone Xwith the latest update. It just goes to a black screen. App needs to sync with Google Drive so that scans are organized on my the app and Google Drive. The partial integration makes it less useful. :(
Very upset after update
by J Seaber on 2019/06/03 15:13
I owed a pro subscription and the app for two or more years now and loved the app. And now all the sudden they kick my ownership out and strip down the app and unless you sign up for a subscription. Terribly upset as I use this daily and for something I already paid for in advance that’s a bad tactic.
App no longer works
by LeoVogel on 2019/06/03 14:54
DO NOT UPDATE. It will break the app. The app launches to an empty black screen.

So confused by Scanbot 9
by KavehV on 2019/06/02 16:33
I purchased Scanbot Pro a lot time ago through IAP. With version 9, I have to say I’m so confused. I have no idea whether the pro features I paid for are still there, but the app continually tries to get me to sign up for a subscription. I get it, subscriptions happen with some apps that get continual updates, but this app doesn’t make that clear at all. In fact, there’s no place in the app, on the site, or in the App Store listing that actually explains what you get for “Pro Classic” vs “Pro subscription”. It’s honestly one of the most confusing updates I’ve ever seen.
What happened?
by Techslacker on 2019/06/02 16:11
This has long been a great app that I’ve used for years(Pro user). With the 9.0 update introducing subscriptions it makes some sense for the developer to do this to support ongoing development but along with it came a large increase in costs. This increase is so much that i question now the future of this app in that either the developer sees a business market that will accept this greater rate or might have overestimated the market. Yes, I’m aware of the 80% discount for Pro users but it’s only for the first year. I’ll gladly pay the discounted amount of $4.49 and would continue to do so if that rate remained but the jump without that discount to $22.49 is something that I will not do. I’ll also be sure to not keep any documents stored within it as I’m now paranoid of forced lock-in. Basically this increase is a slap in the face and I deeply regret pointing others to this app. I’m only giving the app 1 star because of how good it’s been in the past. On top of that it looks like the Pro version that you can buy outright doesn’t have to worry about the subscription. The price of it jumped from $6.99 to $69.99. It says nothing in the description about subscriptions so I assume that’s the case. What’s up with that? I paid the same money through the in-app purchases here to get the same features. Does that mean if I had purchased the $6.99 Pro version that I would be grandfathered in? If this is true, this move is almost criminal or just plain thoughtless.
Greed corrupts
by Kevin J F on 2019/06/02 15:23
This was a great, fairly priced app. Now, despite already paying to unlock "pro" features, after updating to version 9, you are greeted by a list of all the features you can't use without a subscription. This trend of every app wanting a subscription is cancer and needs to stop.
Not For Casual Users Anymore
by ncFoCo on 2019/06/02 13:15
I enjoyed Scanbot since it was originally released. I also upgraded the app to the Pro version to support development in the early days. Version 9 ups the ante to a $23/year subscription. Basic features of the app continue to work without the subscription. But, the app is be littered with upgrades, banners, and badges that pester the user. That just isn’t for me. I went through my history and calculated that I scan about 6 documents per year. Personally, I can’t justify the subscription. If you are a person who scans a lot of documents using your phone then I would recommend this application overs others and pay for the Scanbot subscription. I hate to leave bad reviews for petty reasons. But, this update turned the app into a shell of its former self. It comes across as a burn to old customers who paid for the original Pro version.
Black screen on startup.

After updating to Scanbot 9.0.0, I get a black screen whenever I open the app. I have a lot important documents in the Scanbot. So please fix the problem as soon as possible.

Version 9.0 works for me
by ffass on 2019/06/01 22:01
Using in iPhone 7 running iOS 12.3.1. Upon installing this latest version the app launched to a black screen and stayed black. I forced-quit the app and launched again and again it launched to a black screen. After letting it just sit for about a minute the black screen went away and the app functions fine. Maybe the app was updating all the scans I had stored to work with this new version? Seems to be faster than prior version as developer says. I noticed a subscription option in the app but I seem to retain all the same full app functionality without paying for that. This is, imo, still the best scanning app available on iOS.
Was AMAZING, until...
by mdt2889 on 2019/06/01 20:05
The dev decided to add a subscription fee for their new features. I already upgraded to the pro version and now they’re add a subscription on TOP of the pro version. Smh. Still a great app, but way to tease new features then charge for them on a yearly rate.
Very Happy — Better security, pricing options, and more
by WDW1Fanatic on 2019/06/01 18:22
I’m new to Scanbot, and have just started scanning hundreds of documents of what remains of my most important physical personal files. I took a sampling of 5 different types/sizes/colors of documents across my files and tried most of the more popular available apps... I’ve gone with Scanbot for 4 main reasons. 1) Scanbot consistently does a better job auto-cropping documents to a reasonable degree that won’t require my intervention — compared to even the much more expensive or perhaps popular ones. 2) Scanbot includes iCloud support, as well as auto-uploading of scanned documents that not all the others do — dramatically reducing the number of steps required if you have thousands of documents to scan as I do. 3) Scanbot is far less expensive with OTC options that are less than 1/3 the reoccurring annual subscription price to have similar functionality including OCR. 4) Lastly, for me desiring English OCR support in my generated PDFs so they are searchable, Scanbot provides far better security of my data than other options. Scanbot does it’s OCR processing on my iPhone or iPad unlike nearly every other app that sends your scanned document up to an unknown location for conversion and who knows what else before sending it back down to your iPhone/iPad. I simply don’t trust the other apps when I don’t know and trust exactly what the service is — despite their privacy policies — when I see the sometimes more suspect countries those apps are developed and supported in. One of the other developer websites does not even come up in iOS Safari in English — only Chinese. Scanbot may not have as many country/languages supported for OCR as some others, but it has the major ones I will ever use, and with 100% “on my own iOS device processing”, it’s a winner hands-down. Thanks to the developer for a great product. I’m happy to have already become a paid-for VIP user to support your future improvements and look forward to what may come.
Greedy
by onuco on 2019/06/01 18:14
This is what happens lately. You pay top dollars for a app, and a year later after everyone paid they come back and ask for another 22$ a year in subscription. Make up your mind. Do you want subscription base or initial charge? Time to switch guys.
Paid app was upgraded to a subscription without warning
by OutKast491 on 2019/06/01 17:23
I believe I’ve already paid you for this app once. Why did you update me to a subscription version of the app without explicit warning beforehand m? The new version also seems to remove features that I already had and is trying to get me to pay for them annually in order to continue using the same features I already had. This seems pretty disingenuous. We understand that continues revenue streams are great but could you not issue a new one time transaction, paid version of the app for folks that don’t want a subscription? At minimum why I am I being forced into a subscription when I paid you once already before the app went free? Then I tried to buy the 6.99 pro version - got an error - then the price updates to 69.99. Stay away from this company. They used to be great - must be under new management. Find a better app - I will be going back to CamScanner for now.
Pointless subscription service = uninstall
by MagicXB on 2019/06/01 17:07
As an owner of Scanbot Pro, I used to love this app. However, the latest update locks certain functionality behind a subscription paywall even if you already owned the Pro version. Dumping this app for something else. :(

One of my most used apps for home and work. Updates have all added quality of life improvements as well, showing strong dev support. New quick access email shortcuts are extremely user friendly and effective, one of my favorite features. Overall excellent recognition software, and edits are very simple. Great blend of ease of use and strong performance.
Handy and reliable
by hackworks on 2019/05/28 01:18
Very useful utility. However, it could see some improvements in handling deletes to help recover accidentally deleted scans after the brief period when the undo option is shown. An option would to mark the document for deletion and delete after a day. Something that podcast apps do for deleting played podcasts. Since scans are data, you should make it difficult to lose data.

Scanbot free has never let me down and I recommend to anyone needing the occasional scan asap. Serious scanners should buy pro version as from what I see has more editing tools.

Was looking for a while for a decent scanning app and finally got the free scanbot pro. Upgraded after a day to the full version and not regretting it at all. All around easy and awesome app. Simple to use with a lot of features. Very intuitive and easy to use but with a lot extras like signing ability etc. quality is pretty good for archiving pretty much anything you want. Thumbs up for this great little app.
Scanbot on iPad Pro 2017 / iPhone
by MW31 on 2018/04/06 00:50
I'm a 75 year old housewife, keeping track of our expenses by scanning receipts into .pdf's usually on my iPhone 6S, then sending to iCloud Drive on my MacBook Pro (late 2013). My laptop is in the shop for repair. It will take at least a week to get it back. I continue to scan, now with iPad Pro, sending to iCloud Drive. Scanbot is even better on iPad Pro than iPhone. I am keeping up with the bookkeeping and filing.😌 It might be nice to be able to list store names which are often used, so one could select, rather than retype each time. But if that never happens, I will continue to appreciate Scanbot with all its bells and whistles. Also, Apple is hinting that Bento will no longer be compatible with the upcoming systems. I dream of a companion APP with Scanbot, that would automatically add my scans to a Spreadsheet, with ability to open any actual scan, as well as sort the various columns in the spreadsheet. I know that is dreaming large, but is that ever needed. Thank you for your good work. eHw
Workhorse!
by JuicyJay587 on 2019/07/12 13:29
I’m most likely one of the many iPhone users to try every last productivity app the App Store has to offer.
Make sure you have your game face on.

Granted I haven’t even gotten an opportunity to use the app to the capacity of my own choosing as of yet...I’m still incredibly disappointed that what looked like the introductory page, (showing off all of the features and whatnot) was actually a sorry way for this company to get the customer to buy $8.99+ packages. I’m only 29, and I’m not stupid, but I’ve been extremely sick for a somewhat extended period of time...so yeah, I don’t always have the time or the brain power for tutorials; however, I am SO GLAD that I happened to glance down near the very bottom of that “introductory page” and see those price increases with each extra feature. *Stop patting yourselves on the back for putting the prices in a pretty, unique color from the rest of the page, because you lose the ability to congratulate yourselves when you literally decrease the font by 3 or 4 points* I’ll still use you if your product seems to work well, (although I’ve already noticed that the “free version” charges very high amounts to purchase the credits necessary to use the fax feature.
A comprehensive and complete tool scanning
by uuklanger on 2017/12/04 23:41
When I first installed ScanBot I just needed a tool for capturing receipts in a user friendly way. What I ended up was much more. This app auto detects when the receipt or document is in fully in the camera view and then takes the picture. This app talks to every cloud storage system including OneDrive. It is flexible in how you name documents and manage them. It is visually beautiful, flexible, stable, and easy to use. This tool makes travel, purchases tracking, and expense reports much easier. The pro features are also worth the in app purchase. UPDATE: The new version has taken a perfect tool and made it better. The new file naming is fast, flexible, and intuitive. I scan things for many reasons. I can now easily include the receipt reason as part of the file name.
Best scanning app
by scottaw66 on 2017/10/02 00:06
Overall, this is my favorite scanning app. It’s my go-to first choice. Scanbot is quick, nice-looking, and handles multiple use cases. The border detection is quite good, and smart naming and the ability to auto-upload to cloud services are both really nice. The white background scanning capability doesn't seem to really work all that well (at least when last I tried). However, this is not a huge deal, as previous to this, I just got used to putting on a contrasty surface to scan anyway. My only one real complaint is that the iCloud sync causes documents to sometimes reappear after I delete them. iCloud Drive sync issues aren't really something that developers have a lot of control over. It's obvious that the developers of ScanBot made user experience a priority. And that's what makes this my default scanning app (along with the excellent scanning accuracy of course). I do wish it would allow single page scans to be saved as JPEG without having to save to camera roll, as Evernote Scannable can do. In the past, I found the OCR to be completely useless, but in more recent testing, I found that it's either been vastly improved or I was just really lucky with it for a change.
FINALLY
by KushDad72 on 2018/02/25 17:00
Scanbot is my choice for best Scan App currently available across entire App Store. I began using Genius Scan some 3-4 years ago and found it to be clearly a capable app, I also worked fairly extensively with Scannable. Yet in using both Apps above, each of which were adequate for the basic task at hand, but only Scanbot offered me an incredibly easy and intuitive interface while still accommodating a power user looking for a large set of features in the apps ability to connect more extensions than I could ever use, and offers an endless array of connectivity solutions satisfying the most discriminating power user. Skip the learning curve which I dealt with and go with scanbot from out of the gates.
Scanbot support works!
by Pb-Flash on 2017/12/01 17:58
I bought this app a couple years ago and was very happy with the functionality so much so that I recommended it to several colleagues. In the last two weeks though the app crashes within seconds of opening and I am unable to access any of my scans on the phone. I sent an email to support via their support portal and within a day I got a very detailed response with steps to try. Ended up deleting and reinstalling and that fixed the problem. Saving grace was that I had auto backup turned on from the beginning so my previously scanned files were safe. Very happy once more that my fav business related app is working again.
Automatic scanning and fax pricing needs improvement
by CSiegell on 2019/03/31 04:53
The automatic scanning algorithm used is very good in that scans are taken quickly when aligned. Although, if you compare to “Genius Scan” you’ll see the algorithm used is little to quick and does not let the user see always when the item to be scanned is aligned and can cause multiple mistakes to happen. Although I’m really liking the dark text quality in black & white scans. Scanbot’s fax pricing is questionable. Both Genius Fax and Scanbot offer 10 pages for $6.99. But Genius Fax offers also 1 page for $.99 cents. It appears the faxing sources are the same, but Scanbot is purposely trying to force you to buy the higher priced $6.99 option to profit the provider and themselves. Additionally, Genius Fax offers the user an option for a fax number and Scanbot doesn’t.

Find myself using it more and more and more and...
by CAHCJH on 2017/09/22 17:52
I really didn’t expect that this app would become a central part of my life. Initially I bought it to scan receipts for an insurance claim. These days I use it almost daily as my primary document scanning and filing tool. Now that it has fax capability it’s replaced another app! One thing I wish for, but haven’t asked for yet, is the ability to combined two or more PDFs, or other types, into a single file. Would simplify tasks such as faxing docs from multiple sources in the cases where I’m not scanning multiple pages at once. Would also allow me to delete another party’s app! Keep up the great work!!
Fantastic App / Support
by shawsome.brian on 2018/10/19 11:07
I wrote these guys because I paid for the OCR, but couldn't find a way to use it with my flatbed scanner. I explained what I was trying to do, and they got back to me (on Easter Sunday, no less) to tell me how to do it. Their email was pleasant, easy to follow, and worked like a charm. (I wasn't even expecting a response). Kudos to the developer! The text recognition is probably on par with Acrobat DC (depending on the quality of your original document), but it doesn't retain formatting as well. Ultimately, I got way more than I expected for $5 vs around $149/year for a subscription to Acrobat. I'm very pleased with the purchase, and recommend this app to anyone who needs to archive paper documents in a search-friendly way.
Who needs a scanner when you have a phone?
by manuiwa on 2017/09/20 12:10
Scanning documents is instantaneous, and it is done on your phone! I really like that I can simply grab my phone to take a picture of an important document and it turns into a PDF. Plus, you can make it color, black and white, adjust the crop, and more. No more scanners, USB's, and running to the nearest office store to pay to have a document scanned. I bought the pro version because I wanted to combine multiple documents into one PDF (a function not available in free version). I also got a coupon to send to a friend who will also get the pro version for free. I am very pleased with this app.
Best of 4
by marker inbound on 2019/04/15 18:53
Scanbot is my fourth and favorite document scanning app. It finds page edges more reliably than DocScan, Docr or Scanner Pro. When it does miss, the manual cropping control is steadier than Scanner Pro, which was prone to shifting as my finger came off of the screen. The automatic contrast and brightness adjustment usually yields sharp, easily-printed documents, with few grey areas or extraneous dots to slow inkjet printers to a crawl. ID cards with photos, though, often need manual adjustments to make the text and photo good at the same time. Scanbot does not correct distortion from wavy or folded documents. This is only a rare issue for me, but your needs might differ.
Portable doc scanner and fax machine in 1
by ArtOfTrail on 2019/03/09 00:46
I'm delighted to have the Scanbot Scanner app on my iPhone. I bought it for the capability to look up barcodes and QR codes and had low expectations for its ability to scan documents into usable .pdfs since I already have a good flatbed scanner. For chuckles I tried the multi-page doc scan, and Scanbot pumped a stack of paper into a useful pdf file in a single bound leaving my flatbed in the dust. A charity where I volunteer has been paying $39 a month for a seldom used fax line so I tried the Scanbot Fax tool, and can say goodbye to the dedicated fax line. I happily recommend the Scanbot Scanner app.
Amazing. Simple as that.

This app has acted as a great reference for when I’ve already submitted my work, and my teachers want me to refer to my previous turned in work to complete my upcoming assignments. I can organize my material by course subject, which is extremely important to me. I continue to have a few complications with the picture to text option, but I am satisfied as long as my pictures can be clearly read. Although I had to purchase Scanbot Pro for the full amount of options, it is absolutely worth it. Thank you for this app!! 😁😁😁😁
Love it!
by Senturion1186 on 2018/01/02 06:27
I use this for personal and professional use and couldn't be happier with how well this tool works. I love the ability to make a quick step to send a new receipt to accounting, or to automatically file my receipts in my OneDrive -> Receipts folder. The OCR works great and auto crop is priceless, making the doc look like I used a professional copier to scan it in, yet I can do at any point. I recommend scanning the doc on a flat surface that contrasts well with the document, like a wood surface or dark table. Glass tops don’t work the best, but it can typically find it quick.

Can’t believe all the new features in Scanbot! I’ll have to reserve judgement at this time, but I’m trying it out, again, this new version, and so far I’m quite pleased with the results. I’d recommend the free or trial version (I’ve used this app irregularly for years) to try it out and see what you get when scanning a print photo or document. Also, import a favorite photo, do some brief editing, and try the art filters, pens, and other art tools. You’ll be intrigued, I believe, but I’ll have to do some followup later.

The best quick scan/OCR iOS app
by SBB2084 on 2018/12/21 18:37
Easy, fast and accurate scanning. App does nearly everything for you, just hold camera over what you want scanned and Scanbot does the rest, automatically finding the document's edges, snapping the picture when steady, cropping appropriately, and optionally uploading to your cloud storage of choice. OCR is fast and accurate. Great UX, fantastic workflow, excellent app all around. Truly the best of the bunch, with frequent updates and enhancements. Pro IAP features (including OCR) well worth the price.
Just wondering about documents.
by Mysubscription on 2019/02/08 00:05
How secure is documents. Suppose someone scan a document which has financial or any personal info. What are the possible security measures? Does company store or tunnel these files anywhere or the scan info is just stays local. What kind of data this app access and keep to their server and what they don’t should be mention on the app descriptions. The auto scan doesn’t work and it asks for the manual snap which is not good. Same page auto scanned by both iOS note and adobe scan same surface light conditions.
Go for it
by GuilhermePS on 2018/04/20 01:23
Updated: The developers really did a fantastic job with the v7 update! (And the Sharing menu now works properly.) Original: One of the nicest-looking scanner apps, but doesn’t get the job done. The shadow of your hand and phone always comes up on the document and the filters can’t adequately get rid of it. On top of that, when you click “Share” the Share menu doesn’t show, so the document’s stuck in the app unless you want to email it (I don’t).

I have been using thus app for a few months. I started off with the free version and then purchased it a few weeks later. It has been a lifesaver for countless documents. Besides using it for work, I’ve used it for my kids homework assignments and more. It’s time saving. I’m no longer stressed about loosing paperwork, or misplacing something. When I have forms with signatures, I simply snap away and file them creating my digital back up copy. I highly recommend this app.
OCR Document Scanning in your pocket
by Aviris on 2018/11/06 06:02
I’m not one of those “I remember when hard drives were the size of washing machines” type of guys, but quality OCR on a phone is pretty dang impressive. When you see the price, this app is an incredible value. I use it all the time in my research, but it is starting to slip into my personal life too. It is SO much easier to find a PDF version of that receipt or idea you captured than trying to look through all the pictures in Photos.
Excellent App!
by SomeOtherJoe on 2017/09/21 02:53
I use it for my electronics design business to keep copies of circuit designs and notes all with time stamps. It's a great way to snap shots of oscilloscope screens and file it with other client or circuit files! It's so easy to file the scans per client and project name. I don't use the fax part of the app only because I already have a different one that I have purchased credits for. I really like the auto-cropping feature and the ability to correct for crooked page shots.
I love this app
by keast on 2017/10/23 11:19
This app has helped me de-clutter my house. I am going through shoe boxes and piles, scanning contents I want to keep and then recycling the paper. Furthermore, after I have captured and filed an article I want to keep, I am able to search the article for information (the word I type in gets highlighted). The app is very intuitive, no frustration. I did have a couple of questions and suggestions for the developers and these messages were answered promptly, kindly and thoroughly.
Few days tested - great app so far
by tk211980 on 2019/05/05 22:19
Was looking for a while for a decent scanning app and finally got the free scanbot pro.
It’s Everything You’ve Ever Needed To Get Organized
by mnanda on 2019/01/06 03:47
I’m a writer/producer and I’ve got more notebooks thank I know what to do with. Between my own creative, work notes, receipts it always feels like I’m drowning in paper. I’ve tried other digital solutions including an expensive (excellent) scanner but I have to rip up notebooks to scan them and it doesn’t fit in my pocket. I’m finding more and more ways to incorporate Scanbot into my workflow. It’s amazing!!!
A Beauty
by the Darkest Prince on 2018/09/05 00:58
Gorgeous interface and easy to follow instructions. My only complaint is the text of the instructions is small, which can be easily remedied in the iPhone settings, and light, which cannot be altered in the app’s settings or the phone’s. For the average user, this is probably not an issue, but for those of us who are farsighted it is. But I still give it five stars because the app does what it claims and does so beautifully.
Really useful
by pgiltner on 2018/04/12 13:58
I’ve been using Scanbot for years. It’s super useful. The ocr is accurate enough and I use it all the time to copy long passages from books. However, I use it only to OCR. So, I wish that getting a pic to text was a single button up front and center after cropping, instead of tucked away a few taps from the front, then to the sharing sheet where I the put the text on the phone’s “clipboard.”
Amazing App!!!
by Mayacello on 2019/03/07 13:16
This is the best scanning app I ever have had. It scans super clear pictures and I really love it. The free version is awesome, but I think some apps have better free versions and don’t make you pay so much if you want to make folders, or get more than two filters. I’m still putting 5 stars, but I do think they could improve the free version a little. Thanks, Scanbot, and please consider my suggestions!!
A great scanner app, and the only one I’ve found with two-way sync
by Kee Hinckley on 2018/07/22 22:22
It’s all very fine to save you files in the cloud. But ScanBot lets me refile and add to documents in the cloud and it picks up the changes. Plus it does a remarkable job of optimizing the color and contrast to make documents look as good as they possibly can. And of course, it does OCR and then recognizes useful bits of data like addresses and phone numbers for dir st use in actions.
Upgraded to VIP after first scan
by JoeyCastellon on 2018/07/06 20:15
It only took the first scan to realize this app is definitely worth the price. I love that I can scan my receipts, even the long ones from grocery stores and supermarkets and it makes them look so much better than the actual paper, not to mention automatically upload them to OneDrive or your cloud service of choice. Awesome app!!
Good luck.
Always produces a superior scan compared to other apps
by john.catalano on 2019/01/08 07:06
**I am reducing my rating by one star because the app keeps presenting me with requests to rate it. Please get rid of the thumbs up icon.** I have been a paperless advocate for several years and thought my ScanSnap was the only way to do _real_ scanning. Scanbot often makes me wonder if I need to bother with my ScanSnap anymore. I do wish I had the option to disable the fax feature completely, however.
The best by far
by MrKyleH on 2018/01/12 21:14
This app has it all. If you’re looking to scan paper documents into digital format and want to be able to do it on the go, here it is. I’ve tried plenty of other scanner apps, they don’t cut it. You can fax, OCR, upload to your secure storage sites, and do minor editing right from the app. I recommend buying the upgrade to get the most. You’ll love this scanner app!!!
Best scanner App Ive Used
by DrAzulene on 2018/03/30 13:40
Easy to use, great image quality and filters. Very pleased with capabilities and pricing. The auto scan could be better in that it cuts off the edges around text when you don’t want cropping. That’s easily fixed, just take the shot yourself. App makes my life easier not harder. Just keep it updated appropriately and it is as straightforward as it gets.
Fast, accurate, automated, secure
by Mobilemind on 2019/01/29 15:51
This app does the job right and is worth it. I’ve used it for years now. It’s always been solid, gets scans done fast, automatically and crops/adjusts for images that are askew. Automatic color works great for color or B&W documents. The app works fast, opening ready to scan. Version updates are timely and it keeps up with iOS changes.
Best free scanner app I have used yet
by Can't open the app on 2018/04/05 20:29
There are other free scanner apps out there with high rated reviews, however, there are so many limitations on the free version, it makes it worthless. Scanbot still has limitations on the free version, but it is far more function than the other free scanning apps out there. The automatic scanner works great, no issues with it. Give it a try, you’ll love it too.
Finally impressed by a scanner app
by both311 on 2018/08/29 14:37
Tried several of these scanner apps but this was the first that really seemed to have some tricks up its sleeve. The auto/magic color and black & white settings you can apply to the scan are where it really stands out. Ive taken some badly lit / shaky pictures that turn out crystal clear once I click once or twice in Scanbot.
Simple interface, good workflows.
by geedebee on 2018/07/31 11:34
I have tried a bunch of similar apps to quickly capture receipts and notes while traveling. This is the best I’ve found so far: quick startup and simple interface, yet customizable enough to easily save a scan in both Evernote and Dropbox with a minimum of steps. It made it to my home screen!
dependable app always
by akitagirl216 on 2019/05/08 18:51
Used with no probs for 6 years now. Multi page, crop, pdf convert, email quick- all the dings and whistles you need. Have serious job cant afford mess ups. Scanbot free has never let me down and I recommend to anyone needing the occasional scan asap. Serious scanners should buy pro version as from what I see has more editing tools.
Makes Life SOOO Much Easier
by Beagledr on 2019/02/12 01:22
A must have!! Being able to fax a document from anywhere, organize all digital tax files, send any document needed easily and without stress because they are organized in folders as PDF’s, edit scanned documents, and the list goes on and on about why this is my FAVORITE app of 2018!!! Buy the PRO version- worth every penny!!!
STILL No trash folder for accidentally deleted items
by mcBpants on 2018/04/12 15:00
I accidentally swiped to the left and deleted a document. It's now gone forever. You get a couple seconds to undo, but that’s it. It’s gone forever.m. It's difficult to use this scanner with such a fatal flaw. I really want to like this app for some reason, likely because it's so fast, but the built-in scanning feature in Evernote is just easier to use, and already does OCR recognition for premium users. However, you can't yet copy text out of an OCR in Evernote.

Very happy.

Thank you for your good work. eHw
Workhorse!

Amazing. Simple as that.
by Puppyluvr98 on 2018/01/25 10:30
This app has acted as a great reference for when I’ve already submitted my work, and my teachers want me to refer to my previous turned in work to complete my upcoming assignments.

Thankful!

Well I’ve set in motion a determination to continue to change all of these things by taking action;...practicing this daily; and w/ GODS HELP and no kidding your app; I am doing things I’ve been waiting to do all my life and never dreamed I would be doing thanks for this ability to see myself actualized in dreams and goals come into fruition!!!!
Best app on my phone
by Rosamatsas on 2017/10/24 15:55
I have been using thus app for a few months.
Few days tested - great app so far
by tk211980 on 2019/05/05 22:19
Was looking for a while for a decent scanning app and finally got the free scanbot pro.
