Service is not good and DVR is hit on miss. You can’t watch an in process show outside your home. Several times in home it would not even let me watch a in process show. Most times even after fully recorded get a grainy picture, sometimes flickering in and out, on my very fast connection with a very fast IPad Pro, with lots of memory. It also doesn’t work with airplay and streaming is throttled most times.
Xfinity stream app hasn’t worked in a week!

I just returned to Xfinity about a month or so ago and there have been problems since day 1. The most recent problem is the app hasn’t worked and keeps displaying this “sorry” message. I’ve checked back in the App Store to see if there was an update to fix this issue and a week later NO. I PAY OVER $200 a month for their services and I have the highest residential plan and look at this mess!

Within the last update my AirPods keep shutting off every time I try to stream Xfinity. They work just fine with all other apps.
Pulling headphones turns ON audio

In every app I’ve ever used, pulling headphones out of the headphone jack pauses playback. Not only does this app fail to do that, but if I pause first then pull out the headphones playback is unpaused! This app worked great for a long time, but a recent change broke the semantics around background / screen off playback.

The app on the phone is great but seems to be way too oriented around in home WiFi. If I have to connect to my home network to watch then I’m doing it on the tv not phone. Need more options for on the go TV.
Crashing

This app keeps crashing when I stream to a cast. Takes forever to finally realize I want it to stop casting. Then it restarts the entire show and ads. If you finally get it to come back on through a cast, most of the time it starts it all over again! It’s happened so many times in just 24 hours, and I wasn’t sure if it was my internet or not. I’m pretty positive now that it is the app. Other streaming devices don’t have this issue.

I have a third generation iPad. Used it mainly for watching TV in a room where I don’t have a tv hookup. It was really great having the stream app and be able to see the cable content that I pay over $300 dollars a month for in any room in my house! Then one day it just stopped working. Why... because some genius at Comcast decided to make the app no longer functional with any IOS below 12!! So everyone that used this app that has an iPad that’s older than about 6 years is out of luck!! THANKS SO MUCH COMCAST! Would it really kill you to allow older operating systems to still be able to utilize this app? What do you gain from forcing customers to buy new iPads? Does Apple give you a cut? That’s doubtful. So... why cut us out?????

1/2 the time when go to watch a recording, works. Have the time it says “Well, that didn’t go as planned”. You don’t say? I planned on it working for several days now, both trying to download before leaving home or watch a recording remotely. Nothing, no show, no recording working for neither.
Picture freezes

Really love the Xfinity stream app. It has been a game changer for me. But recently the picture freezes but the audio continues. This doesn’t happen everyday but several times a week. It isn’t my device because it happens on both iPad and iPhone. I have tried all the fixes and once the picture freezes there is no correcting it. I have read others are having the same problem. I hope this is corrected soon because the app is great other than this problem .

Be prepared to have to close and restart the app several times while trying to watch your program. Then be forced to rewatch commercials every single time you have to skip to the part the app stopped working.

Xfinity stream works well on my android phone and has for years; however on the IPad IT DOESN’T WORK! So many bugs that I just gave up. One of the worst is that a show will play, the picture will freeze, but the audio will keep going so you’re looking at the same frame but the words are for a different part. For my own sanity I just use my phone. Many people are having this issue and made Xfinity aware of it but they don’t care to fix it.

This new version is just awful. You can’t turn off the voice over used for sight impaired ONLY!!! This is a terrible app with no option to turn off the stupid voice over. Bring back the previous version that actually worked. This app just demonstrates the lousy service from xfinity overall.
livestream is down; no fixes

Updated review November 23rd, 2020. Livestream outage day 3. Error messages of subscription required. Have 4 channels of over 140 working: NBC, QVC, PBS, Fox local. Customer service is checked out. Previous review: Literally came on here just to confirm that I was not the only one having issues with the livestream. Used to be, as if it was acceptable for the monthly cost, that only very popular primetime shows like Grey’s Anatomy, hung and buffered. The entire summer the service has been lousy. The app is defective. The latest update made things worse especially MSNBC. ABC’s livestream does not work at all. Since May I get the Playback issue: TVAPP-00243. On their website this is a known issue.

I open the app and the app just spins and doesn’t connect to xfinity. I can’t see the live tv listings, I can’t get to my recordings. I tried to delete the app and reinstall, now all I can do is hit the get started button and watch it spin. One more reason why it’s time to cut the cable.

On the one occasion I could get it to work on my home WiFi, it told me I couldn’t watch anything unless I was connected to my home WiFi! Such a pain!

I’ve used this app many times while I’m away from home, especially the DVR recordings to watch the shows that we tape on our home network. I also like the fact that I could watch live TV from my Ipad in any room in my house, while I was at home, and it mirrored the services I pay a lot for on my home TV. Now I discover, while I’m at home using stream on my Ipad, I no longer can get all the channels that are available on my home TV. Did I say we pay a lot for this service$$$! Now I get a message “this channel needs a subscription”!!! So now if I want to watch live TV on my Ipad, I have to pay for certain channels I already pay for??? I think NOT! I don’t recall any notifications from Xfinity that they were making these changes. Why do I have to pay again for a service I am already paying for??? Disappointed in Comcast, as we have been long time customers which doesn’t mean anything anymore!

What kind of a cable company is it when your xfinity stream works on a different company’s network? I tried using my paid xfinity WiFi at home to stream for months and it doesn’t work at all. Even on the go with my LTE. I was so frustrated, last night I tried my child’s TMobile hotspot WiFi after reading one of the previous comment, and sure enough, it works perfectly.
Everything in the app seems to require a subscription now and other issues!?!

For the last few years, I would’ve happily rated this app 4 stars. There’s often been a lag when streaming, the program being watched gets stuck or loses the video feed but keeps playing audio, and now I keep getting error messages (TVAPP-00203) even when attempting to watch basic programs like news channels. This is incredibly frustrating! Also, the “Live” option seems to have been removed from the last app update. Now I have to use a browser to access live content and then allow it to open in the xfinity app on my iPad. Why make it so complicated? I have also noticed that although our cable package includes access to early access for channels like AMC content, I’m not able to access the advanced content when away from home or using a device to stream this content. Also, the smart skipping option no longer seems to function in the app. When Fios first came to my I area, I immediately switched from Comcast to Fios and had a much better experience as a customer using that service. Unfortunately I moved and had to switch back to Comcast Xfinity. I’m certainly not pleased with the recent app restrictions and the service issues since switching. Please consider improving your customer service and app functionality for users that pay good money every month, but need to stream their content.

This app has been so handy for us in a myriad of circumstances where we need to access our TV channels or recordings while we are out of our current WiFi range. Excellent quality on my iPad using my cellular hot spot. That said, there are occasional hiccups which cause the video to freeze while the audio continues on. Rare but happens. Also occasionally live TV is blacked out for “in-room viewing” at times on some channels; cannot understand the logic behind it as the technology allows it. But overall, very, very happy with the service.

Due to being customer since the late 1990’s, I was once considered a VIP. My service was great and I had HBO, Showtime, Starz and occasionally a free movie!!! Well being a senior on a fixed income, past essential worker, my bill on your quad plan has increased at least $75 over the last two years and ALL my “PERKS” have been eliminated!!! I am Strongly considering termination of my service with you, which I’m sure you could care less about, but FOOD is still important to me!!! So I’ll see what your next negotiations bring, and if no perks continue and my bill continues to exceed $250 a month, I will consider termination. I’ve really enjoyed my Internet, phone, cable and security system for 20+ years, but I will find it hard to recommend new customers to you, especially when I hear they have FREE Netflix and I couldn’t even added to my plan for just under $300 a month!!!

I have enjoyed this app in the past, but suddenly it is blocking channels I already have, telling me I need subscriptions. I have subscriptions. They are quite expensive, actually. But there is no option in the phone maze or the chat maze for dealing with app problems. Grr.

App will frequently crash / close when using iOS 14's picture-in-picture feature. Pulling down Notifications will frequently pause streaming video. Switching out of the app while streaming video and returning to it will trigger closed captioning even though it was previously turned off (there's also no way to disable this as a default).
Missing stations on the xfinity app??

I always use my app when my husband watched wrestling on Friday nights. Tonight I tried to stream tv and half of the stations are missing from the line up. We pay way too much every month for bad service. You can’t get anyone in the phone these days and if your lucky it takes a very long time on hold. I waited for 40 mins and still no solution.

Whenever I try to watch recordings on the app the picture freezes while the sounds continues, and it happens with multiple shows. I’ve tried exiting the show and resuming where I left off, restarting the show, deleting the app and downloading it again, and I still am having this problem.

Simple resolve Find the coder who eliminated the horizontal view option for viewing. FIX IT If they cannot, then find someone who can. Do not blame OS platform updates You are hired to to insure seamless transition FIX it, Do you really think closing your eyes or ignoring makes this go away? Keep creating problems, this creates resentment and customers will leave. You don’t get what you expect or paid for what happens? Update to my earlier review bc I can’t add a new one. LET US INSTALL THE PREVIOUS VERSION OF THE STREAMING APP. The rev put out ~11/4/20 does not work. CANNOT GET TO LOGIN - App is absolutely broken with iOS 14.2. Ap shows “Get Started” screen and starts to take you to login but can’t deliver it. Appears to be processing but brings you back to “Get Started” 2x. Then times out. I’ve tried various combos of shutting down or hard restart of the phone and delete and reinstall of the app; no change. ALSO can not login on the Xfinity.com website despite repeated clearing of cache and restarting.

I have been an Xfinity customer for too long to remember and this app makes me mad. Other networks do not have the issues this app has had. I do not own a TV any more and all my watching is done online, so having shows audio skip out like a broken record and videos stop whil sound continues is like the dinosaur age of TV. And why is it not fixed? A mega company like this should have people doing quality control tests. Im tired of this dinosaur app. I have the same issues watching through a browser too btw. And I have no issues with NBC, CBS, ABCs apps. Excellent way to lose customers Xfinity. I can’t believe a major company has such a poor app. Sorry but this is stupidly ridiculous

I’ve used Xfinity stream on a smart TV, iPad and iPhone successfully until a little over a week ago. So I tried uninstalling the app and adding it back in. It looks like it must be a completely different version but it will not open even after repeated attempts and reinstalling it again. I’m ready to drop Comcast/Xfinity completely. It’s overpriced and under delivers.

While streaming, I often run into the problem of the ads repeating themselves and being unable to get back to watching my programs. The ads will continue to play over and over again and they’re constantly stuck on 1 of 5 ads left, never actually getting through them. Even closing the app and trying to start over won’t fix the problem.

I like to stream to my chromecast in the bedroom but there is only one issue. I have ruled out it being my TV after noticing the issue coming up at the same time. So before commercials the sound cuts out for a few seconds and also sometimes during the commercial. Then the sound will be back when the show comes back on but I miss the last few seconds of what they were saying. Hoping it’s a bug that’s fixed soon! Edit: also the streaming quality is sometimes really bad, not a clear picture. And it’s not my internet cause other apps stream perfectly.

I’ve loaded this onto my new phone and it won’t load anything. I click get started and it thinks for a few minutes and then says something went wrong. I figured out it won’t work on my xfinity Internet at home but it will on the T-Mobile network. No error or prompt to tell me how to manage it.

The billing team told me they cannot give me credit for the days I was not able to use Xfinity app. A really bad example of customer care! I need to look into the options of switching my network.

Very disappointed that in order to have a security system other than xfinity’s means I have to split my 5 and 2.4 WiFi signals. However, doing so, this app, and only this app, then loses the fact that I am on my home WiFi. My computer via chrome works to watch “at home” channels, but this app on my phone doesn’t. It has been that way for over a year. Very disappointed with xfinity.
Stopped working

This app used to work fairly well, but I haven’t used in a few months. The past two nights, I’ve tried to use it, but it wouldn’t load without crashing. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling,, but now I can’t get past the “Get Started” button. It crashes.

I have an iPad air 2 and I’m running 14.2 IOS, however this app is not working. It always worked up until two days ago around November 11, 2020. Something is wrong with this app. Terrible Not sure what improvements you claim you made to this app, you need to go back to the drawing board

My family and I use this app to stream channels. There has been difficulties with streaming. For example, the app will rewind back to a part of the show we already saw or the last episode. A lot of time this happens after commercials, but the rewinding causes other issues like the captions lagging behind the audio. Also, if we try to fast forward back to where we were, it won’t move to the time stamp that I put it on and just go back to where I had moved it from. The app would be so much better if these bugs get fixed. Thx!!!!

I have been trying to watch Xfinity Stream on my phone away from home for the last five days either with data or wifi.I keep getting the message “We’re sorry. Something unexpected just happened. Please try again.” After going rounds with xfinity chat in which their support did not have an answer to my question, I spent an hour on hold to speak to an agent who me to uninstall the app and wait five to ten minutes and then reinstall. Agent wouldn’t listen to me telling her that I had already tried that and my issue was signing back into the app. Now when I press the Get Started, I get the same message. Now I am back on hold to try to be able to sign into an app, that according to other reviews, is not working anyway. On top of that she gave me a number to call for technical support that is no longer working. So much for their commitment to keep us connected during these times. I would give zero stars if that was an option.

I have had mine since Feb 20th and still can’t stream. From what I can tell you can download the streaming app on newer versions of my TV in the family room but mine is 7 years old but still a 55” LG Smart TV. I mainly started my service back up because I desperately needed the Internet to job hunt and that is where all my time has been spent (easy when your Cable isn’t working). I paid extra for the 300 mb/sec so I would be prepared to accept any type of position available including work from home, independent consultation, or partial commute. That is when the sales rep talked about the awesome streaming app and no monthly fee for equipment because there are no cable boxes for every TV. The 300 mb/sec Internet comes with a different router than other plans and it is also required for the streaming app service. The sales rep really unsold here on the service and by lowering my monthly bill due to no charges for each cable TV box, that is what sold me on this plan. Sales reps should verify over phone the make/model of your electronic equipment to ensure compatible for streaming services to work as intended for optimal performance. This would make sure customers have a good experience getting up and running efficiently and effectively with the new service being introduced. Plus, it is just the right thing to do.

The app is nice for watching your shows that air on cable directly on your phone or iPad, however, there are many issues with the app. For one, just searching for the show lands you in many loads of the title - each time you type a word or letter the titles take a moment to load. Now the load time isn’t longer than a couple of seconds, but when it goes multiple times the time starts becoming significant. Another major problem I have with this app is the functionality. When I tried to scroll through an episode of my show it would take me back to the spot I was at before scrolling and it would show me an additional advertisement. This specifically bothers me because I despise ads and I seriously despise when an extra ad is fed to me when it shouldn’t have. Wanting to watch my show while I ate, I kept trying to scroll and the same issue persisted - forcing me to watch 5 or so of the same Allstate ads (yes... bland). My food was getting cold and I was hungry so I gave up, closed the app, and moved on the the tv channel’s app. The app is okay, but it would a whole lot better for the customers to not have to experience multiple Allstate ads even though television needs to be a little bit greedy.

The $$ XFinity/Comcast spends on commercials (at least 1 every commercial break during a show) totally explains why our bill is OUTRAGEOUS every month! Zero perks for decades long customers! Just jacked up prices with channels taken away. Now this is for the iOS app on my iPad...I appreciate being able to set a recording from the app. However, I do have “⭐️ favorite channels” and Xfinity decides that every favorite network channel I save will be saved on every single channel # it is on in their guide which in my case is same network on 3 different channel numbers. In series settings I have it set to record ONLY on 1 channel. When I set a recording for a show on a favorite network it records the same show TIMES 3 because apparently I can’t just have 1 channel as a favorite for the same network. I do not need or want 3 of the same exact recording at the same exact time to be recorded. For as big as XFinity is one would think the app would be seemingly flawless. Is it really that difficult? Give your paying customers this benefit without constant frustration. Every update screws something up. Why?? BTW I don’t expect my review to ever be read by anyone with XFinity. Or any other reviews for that matter.

After about a week after posting below, I was on phone with Tech for about an hour. Help at 2nd tier with consulting help at 3rd tier, resolved my issue and app working fully now. Not changing stars, so people having same issue may find my post helpful. Only, less than 10 live channels. No recording option, On my IPhone 11 Pro or Ioad Air streem app. Spend about an hour with tech center. They were nice but could not resolved issue. I was advised to wait day or two if problem is resolved, after my waiting for 7 days to report to issue. I was told every thing looks good on their part, it must be some issue with app itself. Deleted and reinstalled app few times, sign in and out few times but nothing is helping. I was told my call ticket will serve as lead to what they have to do. I hope thing get resolved soon, great app otherwise.

I have never held Comcast in high regard because of their price gouging..I was paying well over $200 for internet and one tv with basic cable and they could never answer why friends I knew with more services were paying the same or less. I cancelled cable service but kept internet which included broadcast television for an additional $10 they the streaming app and it was working out well for me until it wasn’t anymore. Spent over an hour on the phone trying to figure out why my app won’t show any channels or recordings any more. Was transferred to a higher level tech support to no avail. They reset credentials, establishments and nothing. I have internet and pay extra for broadcast television that I have not been able to access for weeks. Representatives tried to be helpful but I’m still without the services I pay for. They said a level 3 tech would call back in 24-72 and this is the second time I have been told that with no return phone call. We are limited to the internet service available in our area or I would have disconnected my service all together a long time ago

Have been w Xfinity/Comcast since it was first offered in my area, decades. There has only been one occasion where I couldn’t access the app. The latest update has really impressed me. The Picture in Picture is so convenient, my favorite feature. They must have fixed the recommendations logic as well as the history because it actually works as you would expect it to—updated and relevant now, previously it would just randomly choose programs to suggest and the ‘recently watched’ was anything but. Very happy to see that they’ve improved the app to this level, I currently watch shows on it exclusively. Highly recommend this app.
Can’t Sign-in Since iPadOS 13 Update: “Back Office Provision Error”

I can no longer sign-in to the app on my iPad ever since updating to iPadOS 13. When I attempt to login it gives an error advising “Back Office Provision Error”. It then has a pop up that says restarting device, and it goes through the whole process all over again with the same results. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app several times and still cannot get logged in. Calling Comcast customer services offers no help or solution for this issue. Really disappointing since we are paying for a service that we can no longer even use! We are left with a choice to either update to the latest iOS and lose out on this app working or stay with an outdated iOS version and continue to be able to use the app, but risk your device by not having the latest security fixes etc. I’ve heard this issue is also happening with phones updating to iOS 13. Due to paying for a service that I can no longer use and can’t offer help or a solution: 1 Star Rating

I’ve been a user of Comcast or Xfinity for ten years. I switch over to Direct TV due to price three years ago. Once my two year contacts was up with Direct tv. I ran back to Comcast due to the speed of the internet, voice command on the remotes and the price of direct TV. It was costing me close to $200. Plus I still had to pay $79 for WiFi. I love the streaming app on my phone on. I can be at a friends home and they are watching something on tv that I don’t like I can watch what I want on my phone. I love the package that I have but the prices are high but I have the premium stations; stars, hbo, showtime. Sports packages all for $235 a month. I have the fastest WiFi that they offer, plus I have five TV sets in my home with each having a cable box. For me it’s a great deal.

I like it. I like how much mobility it has since you can have it on a phone or tablet and still be able to move it wherever you want as long as you have Wi-Fi for it to be able to work. Sometimes when I can’t see the tv in a part of my apartment, then I can just watch tv via tablet with my Xfinity stream app. And also what if you don’t want to watch whatever is on that someone else is watching, then the app is a great option to go. I think my best favorite part of the app is to be able to take it any place you want. Sometimes I run into problems when I can’t get good Wi-Fi reception. But other than that I find it an a+++ tool to have.

Due to being customer since the late 1990’s, I was once considered a VIP. My service was great and I had HBO, Showtime, Starz and occasionally a free movie!!! Well being a senior on a fixed income, past essential worker, my bill on your quad plan has increased at least $75 over the last two years and ALL my “PERKS” have been eliminated!!! I am Strongly considering termination of my service with you, which I’m sure you could care less about, but FOOD is still important to me!!! So I’ll see what your next negotiations bring, and if no perks continue and my bill continues to exceed $250 a month, I will consider termination. I’ve really enjoyed my Internet, phone, cable and security system for 20+ years, but I will find it hard to recommend new customers to you, especially when I hear they have FREE Netflix and I couldn’t even added to my plan for just under $300 a month!!!

One of the things that I really like about it is that I can watch shows from all networks in one place and keep track of which episodes I have and have not watched. I did read some reviews saying that I can only watch it while connected to my WiFi’s at home. If that is the case, since I haven’t tried lately, I will be really disillusioned. I have plenty of other streaming tv/movie services that don’t require this. I like to travel and take them with me. But since I’ve only used it at home it’s been good. What I would improve is the home screen. It will show me shows that I am watching, but when I select it, it takes me to the wrong episode. I have to go to favorites and select an episode.

Been using this app for years, very happy with it till now. Recently after a show was recorded the program would disappear, even though I could use rewind and fast forward while show was being recording, once it was complete it would be gone, but my set top box showed it was still there. I did some troubleshooting and also found I was getting error massages when I modified any recording settings on my iPad, but didn't have this issue on my set top box. UPDATE :) My recordings are available again! Life is good. Thanks for the quick response!

I have been a Comcast customer for years and very pleased. Since the service is now called Xfinity, it has been a nightmare! I have been on the phone for since July 5 and God only knows how many hours! It started with phone issues, then WiFi issues, then tv issues that are still ongoing. I have a new modem, new remote (not compatible with my Tv. New remote being ordered; never received and was told order was never processed. Can’t access tv apps for reasons a normal person like me would never know. Last night, July 23, I’m told I need a new box!!! It has been ordered and should arrive within 30 days!!! This morning I get a message telling me to go ahead and get started by installing this app. Now all I see are these negative reviews. OMG I think I’ve been given bad advise again! I think I’m done. Don’t need this additional anxiety!

This app is amazing, and I love that I can cast my favorite shows to my tv. However, there is one slight issue. If I’m streaming to my tv and I leave the app for a moment to check on, say, Tumblr, and then I go back to this app a little while later to change the episode of whatever show I’m watching, it’ll glitch and shoot my tv’s volume up to about 80! Like I’ll select an episode and it won’t register on the tv and start playing on my phone instead. Then if I tap the little stream icon in the corner of the app to see if it’s still streaming, the app will flip out and my tv’s volume will jump to around 80 or 82 and blasts my ear off! I actually damaged one of my tv speakers because of this glitch!

Xfinity Stream App was working fine until about 10 days ago when it suddenly STOPPED WORKING on our iPad2. After attempting to update & failing, calling customer service numerous times, and getting the “royal” runaround, we now realize the truth: Xfinity updated us to extinction! That is, they created an update that is NOT backward compatible to run on the “mature” hardware devices owned & used by their customers. Amazingly, the App was working flawlessly— and if it’s not broke, don’t “fix” it! This “update” is both sad and frustrating for the MILLIONS of your paying customers who still use these older devices. We expect BETTER from Xfinity! Please give us back what you promised —and what we are PAYING for: “the ability to stream from every device in our home!” Please issue another version of your software that will continue to be compatible!

I hope that through the money people will save in the future to share a car that drives itself you’ll be able to watch whatever you want on your phone during the time we are transported in a car and this is the best way to watch live and recordings on the go. And local sports when they come back. All of with streaming movies. Xfinity is a bit pricey but this app alone makes up for a lot to get your use out of their service. And now I can stream onto google products reducing the necessity for renting more boxes. And you can control it with your voice.

I use this app all the time because I travel a lot seeing my grandchildren. At first, what was recorded on my home TV was also on my iPad. At some point that changed, and I’ve noticed that recordings are dropping off the iPad if they’ve been on there for more than two weeks. I wasn’t told that when I signed on, and I made it clear that was one of the reasons I chose Comcast. To be able to watch my shows when I am away for any length of time. Is it practice to only hold recordings on the iPad for a certain period of time? They are not really lost because the recordings are still there on my TV box, they are only removed from my iPad.

We travel often and also spend weeks away from home at a time. This app is often our best option to watch what we prefer to watch. We record our favorite programs and watch when we want to. Until recently you could not record from the app which wasn’t convenient. This is an improvement. It is a disappointment when watching something live it states you can’t watch away from your home. When we’ve been on cruises, we watch TV on our app as it beats their TV options! This app is definitely used in our home and feel it compensates some for cable’s high prices.
Works great on my iPhone 11 (iOS 13) and Kindle Fire 8.

The picture on my old Samsung Smart TV died about three days after the lockdown started in California. I was making do without a TV but intended to replace the old boob tube when I could. Now, after I discovered Xfinity had an app for mobile devices, I may not bother. With no baseball season, there’s not much to watch anyway. I had no trouble installing once I had turned off Apple’s useless “double-click the sidebar” to complete the iPhone installation (you turn it off by turning on settings/accessibility/sidebar/use passcode for payment).

This was horrible! I am pet and house sitting while my close friends are away. They have xfinity streaming service, but they don’t have Disney plus so I decided to just screen share my Disney plus on their tv, but it doesn’t even work (and I tried plenty of times!) so I just looked it up. It told me to download this app, then press a share button or whatever. So I download the app and immediately it says I have to sign in the they can “spy” on me I guess. At this point I’m frustrated because all I want to do is screen share! So I try to skip the sign in process because I don’t even have an xfinity ID and I don’t plan on getting one because I don’t use Xfinity at all! This was useless and quite stressful. I DONT recommend this app at all unless it’s necessary or you have an account which most likely you do.

This app, in my opinion, is better than any other “cable” app I’ve ever had. I love how I can now record shows from my phone, so I don’t need to be home when I think of a show that I want to record. I also love how I can download a recorded show so that I can watch it later on when I don’t have WiFi. It’s awesome. My daughter is just about 3 yrs old and I’m able to keep her busy with this app, watching her favorite shows, when we’re running errands. I love watching tv on my phone when doing dishes and other house chores, so yea I love this app & I use it all the time.

This app has been so handy for us in a myriad of circumstances where we need to access our TV channels or recordings while we are out of our current WiFi range. Excellent quality on my iPad using my cellular hot spot. That said, there are occasional hiccups which cause the video to freeze while the audio continues on. Rare but happens. Also occasionally live TV is blacked out for “in-room viewing” at times on some channels; cannot understand the logic behind it as the technology allows it. But overall, very, very happy with the service.

I was away from home and wanted to watch live TV of a program that is local when I am at home. I thought I’d be able to do this since I could just sign into Xfinity, which has my home information. Instead it accesses my location to show me what the local station is playing. Why would I need to stream the local station on the app when I could just turn on the TV?!? I tried clicking on the program from the program list and then watch. Nope. It did not show me the program I wanted. Instead I was routed to the local channel. This defeats the point of being able to stream from my cable subscription. It literally says at the top that I am watching the show, but instead I am watching the local station. What is the point of the app if I can’t stream what I want?

I like to stream to my chromecast in the bedroom but there is only one issue. I have ruled out it being my TV after noticing the issue coming up at the same time. So before commercials the sound cuts out for a few seconds and also sometimes during the commercial. Then the sound will be back when the show comes back on but I miss the last few seconds of what they were saying. Hoping it’s a bug that’s fixed soon! Edit: also the streaming quality is sometimes really bad, not a clear picture. And it’s not my internet cause other apps stream perfectly.

We have had Comcast / Xfinity for years, long before they came out with TV Programming and have been pleased, for the most part with Service, Upgrades, Programming, Computer Service/Connectivity... Understanding that the underground cables run some 60 - 70 miles from the transmission site, with a lot (tons) of construction on Highways, New Roads, and Homes being built between her and there... Just have to role with it. Customer Service I have to say has been really Outstanding...! Their Reps in Customer Service are First Class... Work for You to make things Right for You.

Love using this app to watch live tv, recorded shows or to record shows from anywhere that I can watch later either on my phone, tablet or TV! I’ve even downloaded shows. Been using it for over a year. The one problem I've had only lately is it sometimes won’t let me delete shows I just finished watching but it’s fine, I just delete later. I watch tv anywhere (out somewhere, while cooking, etc. ) and it saved me a cable box for my bedroom! Very handy and I highly recommend!!

There is a continual problem with this app on my ipad mini4 - sometimes the picture completely disappears when the pad’s home button is pressed to make the picture smaller, and even more frustrating is the app’s continual tendency not to restore the full picture (zoom out) when the app’s button is pressed, freezing the program being (or attempted to being) watched. This has become increasingly worse over time and you would think an extremely large media conglomerate like Comcast would have someone to fix this relatively simple app - I can only conclude this is yet again the corporate attitude (or lack thereof) of Comcast / Xfinity. Time for a change / more competition in the media market (that should be the American way).

When you first download this app it is great. You can watch shows on the go and plug in headphones so you never miss a beat. Then, the luster wears off. You realize that half of the channels do not work unless you are connected to your home WiFi. Then the live shows continue to constantly buffer to the point that you no longer want to watch the show. Constant adds and no rewinding or fast forwarding for previously aired shows. Similar to Comcast, when things are going well, it’s just okay. When things aren’t, you’re so frustrated that you find something more productive to do. Get it together.... But then again, I’m moving soon so I won’t be dealing with it much longer.

The app starts, stalls and after a few moments the sound drops out and comes back. Sometimes when I start it, two audio tracks play at the same time or will not cancel out when a call comes in or using another app. During the recent Super Bowl half-time show it stopped streaming and said I needed to watch on my home wi-fi like I was and had been all day. My network was fine. The problem resolved later in the game. Same general problems with strong cellular data or wifi with 200 mbs down and on two different iOS phones. Reminds me of the old televisions and how fussy they could be but it worked. Mostly. Eventually. You deal with it and move on but I expect more.

We have one TV in our household of two adults and two young children. At the same time we have several iOS devices including phones and tablets. I absolute love being able to set up the iPad by the sink as I do dishes and watch a football or baseball game (the only sports fan in the house). It has totally eliminated the need for us to have more than one television, which we use primarily for family viewing of movies and shows. Keep up the good work!
Closed captioning and delete

I watch my recorded shows with closed captioning majority of the time on my iPad and iPhone - as soon as I fast forward after a commercial break, I need to go to the settings again and turn on the closed captioning- didn’t experience that until very recently-very annoying. Please fix. Also, as long as I can remember my shoes don’t always delete on my devices when I’ve completed it and pushed the button to delete it. After I push the button to delete it, it says ‘recording deleted,’ but, the majority of the time, it’s still there - also pretty annoying and needs to be fixed.

Idk why tf they got rid of me being able to record shows from the app. I sometimes don’t have time to go home and record something. Or if I forgot to record something an couple hours before I won’t be able to record it since I might not be home in time. I no longer have the pleasure to simply record from the app. The stupidest change they decided to do. Also when I record something and a show was pushed back. Meaning I have half a show I didn’t want to watch and half of my show I did want to. I would delete that episode the search on demand. I click to watcj the episode I wanted to see and it brings me back to that recording I already recorded. So inconvenient.

This app is annoying, because it pops up messages to say when it is preparing or deleting downloads. None of my other entertainment apps (Netflix, Prime, CBS All Access, Disney +, etc.) do this. They just start the download or delete processes in the background and let me go about my business of navigating through the app. With Stream, you are forced to watch pulsing ellipses and wait for the app to do its thing. It’s a painfully slow experience. Just one more nudge toward cutting the cable... Otherwise, the app is good in the quality of video and availability of content. I would like the ability to rent new movies in the app as well, though.

Part of the reason I have stayed loyal to Xfinity is because of the Xfinity Stream app. But these last couple of years I have experienced on going issues and I’m about ready to cut cable all together! In the past my programs would skip as I was watching my different recordings. I tried calling customer service and only became infuriated because the rep could not speak clear English nor did they understand my issue because I was speaking to someone either in India or Mexico, or the Philippines. Now fast forward a year later I can only get through 5 minutes of each show that I watch then my show freezes up. I am hesitant to even contact customer service bc that would be a waste of my time. Very disappointed customer!;-(

UPDATE: Wish I knew if this is the norm for others using XFinity. It’s difficult to watch an hour of news, with 10 or 15 breaks of no sound for a few seconds up to a minute or even more. The video also bounces around the ADS (not that I care about that!), often going overtime, & we miss part of the program. Extremely frustrating. *********************** I’ve been generally pleased with Xfinity for several years, but recently (timed with an update?) there are many times an hour when I lose sound, and/or the video stalls, generally when watching cable news. It’s irritating, to the extent I don’t use it much anymore.

I ran into the same issue where after the Xfinity stream software was updated, the streaming app did not work. It would not even connect. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it. At that point, it would show the link that said “get started“. When pressing it, it never moved on and eventually an error message came up saying something went wrong. So, reinstalling the app didn’t work. What finally worked after working with the reps, was to delete the old app, reboot the iPhone and then reinstall the app. But also I needed to reboot the modem and router. Well I could access all other websites, for some reason, when this app tried to reach out to Comcast URL, it failed. Rebooting the modem and router worked.

I have a third generation iPad. Used it mainly for watching TV in a room where I don’t have a tv hookup. It was really great having the stream app and be able to see the cable content that I pay over $300 dollars a month for in any room in my house! Then one day it just stopped working. Why... because some genius at Comcast decided to make the app no longer functional with any IOS below 12!! So everyone that used this app that has an iPad that’s older than about 6 years is out of luck!! THANKS SO MUCH COMCAST! Would it really kill you to allow older operating systems to still be able to utilize this app? What do you gain from forcing customers to buy new iPads? Does Apple give you a cut? That’s doubtful. So... why cut us out?????
Not Working After Fix

I’ve been having issues with this app after the most recent updates this past week. Nothing was loading, it would just show grayed out boxes for all listing and would not load any other page (such as favorites). I’ve tried updating all software for both device and app. I’ve tried deleting and reloading app and restarted my device. After re-downloading the app and restarting my device I’m now stuck on the “Get Started” page, it will not allow me to proceed and link up to our WiFi/Xfinity login. I’m not sure what else to do. This most recent round of fixes do not seem to be good ones. Otherwise I loved the app before and miss being able to use the services.

I have been an Xfinity customer for too long to remember and this app makes me mad. Other networks do not have the issues this app has had. I do not own a TV any more and all my watching is done online, so having shows audio skip out like a broken record and videos stop whil sound continues is like the dinosaur age of TV. And why is it not fixed? A mega company like this should have people doing quality control tests. Im tired of this dinosaur app. I have the same issues watching through a browser too btw. And I have no issues with NBC, CBS, ABCs apps. Excellent way to lose customers Xfinity. I can’t believe a major company has such a poor app. Sorry but this is stupidly ridiculous

I can use this app wherever I go to watch TV whenever I want. And they couldn’t have done anything else to improve it that I can think of other than the new feature. And that is being able to set up to record programs when I am not at home. The only thing I can’t do is watch live programs that are broadcast when I am not within my home WiFi. So I simply record them to watch them later.

The app on iPad and on Lg Smart TV are inconsistent at best. On the iPad, I have had to - over several months - make multiple login attempts, sometimes over a period of 2-3 days just to pay my bill online! I have called Xfinity a time or two in order to pay bill over the phone and let them know about the Stream issue (but nothing has changed). We recently were gifted an Lg Smart Tv with Xfinity app pre downloaded and it now freezes up upon app initiation. It is so frustrating to be a loyal, hassle-free one-time paying customer and not be able to utilize and depend upon the full measure of services for which we pay.

I have full and extended cable with Xfinity. I can live stream on my iPad but only a very few channels on my iPhone. I have spent much time with tech services to no avail. I do pay a pretty high premium for my cable and X1 box and I own three homes in different locations so when I travel I want to be able to use the service as the company promised. I chose Xfinity over other competing companies for this very reason. They need to put some good programmers to work on this. Their remote streaming is not an acceptable service as it is.

Really love the Xfinity stream app. It has been a game changer for me. But recently the picture freezes but the audio continues. This doesn’t happen everyday but several times a week. It isn’t my device because it happens on both iPad and iPhone. I have tried all the fixes and once the picture freezes there is no correcting it. I have read others are having the same problem. I hope this is corrected soon because the app is great other than this problem .

Please fix your app and put out an update to it ... said by someone who has never taken the time to write a review about any app before ... truly sad and pathetic that part of your sales pitch for getting home service (right on your website) says, “Watch anywhere, on any device, any time you like” ... YET ... that is not the actuality of it, because your always SLOW with ANY UPDATES & FIXES ... AND ... whenever there is an iOS update, it’s a guarantee that the app won’t work correctly—and doesn’t. Not something that happens with any/most other streaming services. Just Xfinity/Comcast app. Horrible—we are definitely NOT getting what we pay for with our cable/internet package.

I use this app almost every day. I usually have ESPN running on my iPad in a corner on my desk as I work. Now the app requires an update and will not work. However, when I tried the update, it simply opens the same app and does not offer an actual update. I have a perfectly good iPad 4, now 8 years old... yes I get it. The OS support is gone now (10.3.4). But the developers of this app have shut users out by not allowing backward compatibility. One more gripe since I'm here... Comcast claims TV Anywhere on any device; yet try to watch a game if you are not on your home network!! What's the point? I'll watch it on TV if I'm at home. I pay a hefty bill every month to Comcast. Their services are substandard!

I love this app so I can watch the news or entertain myself while I’m in the kitchen making dinner. Within the last couple of weeks though it has been buggy to say the least. Audio will cut out randomly, I get the four dots while trying to stream live TV, pauses constantly (especially during a good part in a show). When I stop watching something and don’t force close the app then the show will start playing again (audio only). I end up using data if I leave the house and a show is playing in my purse. I’d expect better especially how much we pay for cable/internet service.

To preface, I actually like Xfinity in general. Anecdotally, I have always experienced good people and support both online and in store, and never had any issues with my services- they all work well, are reliable, and for a good price. Having tried other cable providers and just about every streaming service, I haven’t found one that beats X1 for me- on price, channels, or features. All that said, this app itself works pretty well. I think the UI could be cleaned up, and made a bit faster- but it does all the core work of giving me my service on mobile devices. What loses stars for me is this- this app is not available on devices like the AppleTV and they intentionally go out of their way to block chrome cast or airplay functionality. And for what? To try and force me to pay for another box? It’s pure greed, and xfinity to take note of the direction that competitors like AT&T, Spectrum, etc. have taken their auxiliary streaming apps. Short sighted and out of touch for Xfinity.

Service is not good and DVR is hit on miss. You can’t watch an in process show outside your home. Several times in home it would not even let me watch a in process show. Most times even after fully recorded get a grainy picture, sometimes flickering in and out, on my very fast connection with a very fast IPad Pro, with lots of memory. It also doesn’t work with airplay and streaming is throttled most times.
Xfinity stream app hasn’t worked in a week!

I just returned to Xfinity about a month or so ago and there have been problems since day 1. The most recent problem is the app hasn’t worked and keeps displaying this “sorry” message. I’ve checked back in the App Store to see if there was an update to fix this issue and a week later NO. I PAY OVER $200 a month for their services and I have the highest residential plan and look at this mess!

In every app I’ve ever used, pulling headphones out of the headphone jack pauses playback. Not only does this app fail to do that, but if I pause first then pull out the headphones playback is unpaused! This app worked great for a long time, but a recent change broke the semantics around background / screen off playback.

Crashing

This app keeps crashing when I stream to a cast. Takes forever to finally realize I want it to stop casting. Then it restarts the entire show and ads. If you finally get it to come back on through a cast, most of the time it starts it all over again! It’s happened so many times in just 24 hours, and I wasn’t sure if it was my internet or not. I’m pretty positive now that it is the app. Other streaming devices don’t have this issue.

Xfinity stream works well on my android phone and has for years; however on the IPad IT DOESN’T WORK! So many bugs that I just gave up. One of the worst is that a show will play, the picture will freeze, but the audio will keep going so you’re looking at the same frame but the words are for a different part. For my own sanity I just use my phone. Many people are having this issue and made Xfinity aware of it but they don’t care to fix it.

Updated review November 23rd, 2020. Livestream outage day 3. Error messages of subscription required. Have 4 channels of over 140 working: NBC, QVC, PBS, Fox local. Customer service is checked out. Previous review: Literally came on here just to confirm that I was not the only one having issues with the livestream. Used to be, as if it was acceptable for the monthly cost, that only very popular primetime shows like Grey’s Anatomy, hung and buffered. The entire summer the service has been lousy. The app is defective. The latest update made things worse especially MSNBC. ABC’s livestream does not work at all. Since May I get the Playback issue: TVAPP-00243. On their website this is a known issue.

I open the app and the app just spins and doesn’t connect to xfinity. I can’t see the live tv listings, I can’t get to my recordings. I tried to delete the app and reinstall, now all I can do is hit the get started button and watch it spin. One more reason why it’s time to cut the cable.

I’ve used this app many times while I’m away from home, especially the DVR recordings to watch the shows that we tape on our home network. I also like the fact that I could watch live TV from my Ipad in any room in my house, while I was at home, and it mirrored the services I pay a lot for on my home TV. Now I discover, while I’m at home using stream on my Ipad, I no longer can get all the channels that are available on my home TV. Did I say we pay a lot for this service$$$! Now I get a message “this channel needs a subscription”!!! So now if I want to watch live TV on my Ipad, I have to pay for certain channels I already pay for??? I think NOT! I don’t recall any notifications from Xfinity that they were making these changes. Why do I have to pay again for a service I am already paying for??? Disappointed in Comcast, as we have been long time customers which doesn’t mean anything anymore!

What kind of a cable company is it when your xfinity stream works on a different company’s network? I tried using my paid xfinity WiFi at home to stream for months and it doesn’t work at all. Even on the go with my LTE. I was so frustrated, last night I tried my child’s TMobile hotspot WiFi after reading one of the previous comment, and sure enough, it works perfectly.
Everything in the app seems to require a subscription now and other issues!?!

For the last few years, I would’ve happily rated this app 4 stars. There’s often been a lag when streaming, the program being watched gets stuck or loses the video feed but keeps playing audio, and now I keep getting error messages (TVAPP-00203) even when attempting to watch basic programs like news channels. This is incredibly frustrating! Also, the “Live” option seems to have been removed from the last app update. Now I have to use a browser to access live content and then allow it to open in the xfinity app on my iPad. Why make it so complicated? I have also noticed that although our cable package includes access to early access for channels like AMC content, I’m not able to access the advanced content when away from home or using a device to stream this content. Also, the smart skipping option no longer seems to function in the app. When Fios first came to my I area, I immediately switched from Comcast to Fios and had a much better experience as a customer using that service. Unfortunately I moved and had to switch back to Comcast Xfinity. I’m certainly not pleased with the recent app restrictions and the service issues since switching. Please consider improving your customer service and app functionality for users that pay good money every month, but need to stream their content.

This app has been so handy for us in a myriad of circumstances where we need to access our TV channels or recordings while we are out of our current WiFi range. Excellent quality on my iPad using my cellular hot spot. That said, there are occasional hiccups which cause the video to freeze while the audio continues on. Rare but happens. Also occasionally live TV is blacked out for “in-room viewing” at times on some channels; cannot understand the logic behind it as the technology allows it. But overall, very, very happy with the service.

Due to being customer since the late 1990’s, I was once considered a VIP. My service was great and I had HBO, Showtime, Starz and occasionally a free movie!!! Well being a senior on a fixed income, past essential worker, my bill on your quad plan has increased at least $75 over the last two years and ALL my “PERKS” have been eliminated!!! I am Strongly considering termination of my service with you, which I’m sure you could care less about, but FOOD is still important to me!!! So I’ll see what your next negotiations bring, and if no perks continue and my bill continues to exceed $250 a month, I will consider termination. I’ve really enjoyed my Internet, phone, cable and security system for 20+ years, but I will find it hard to recommend new customers to you, especially when I hear they have FREE Netflix and I couldn’t even added to my plan for just under $300 a month!!!

App will frequently crash / close when using iOS 14's picture-in-picture feature. Pulling down Notifications will frequently pause streaming video. I always use my app when my husband watched wrestling on Friday nights. Tonight I tried to stream tv and half of the stations are missing from the line up. We pay way too much every month for bad service. You can’t get anyone in the phone these days and if your lucky it takes a very long time on hold. I waited for 40 mins and still no solution.

Whenever I try to watch recordings on the app the picture freezes while the sounds continues, and it happens with multiple shows. I’ve tried exiting the show and resuming where I left off, restarting the show, deleting the app and downloading it again, and I still am having this problem.

The app might be cool, but I wouldn’t know. I have downloaded the app at least 10 times and it will never get beyond the “Get Started” screen. It just times out and pops up an error message.

Update to my earlier review bc I can’t add a new one. LET US INSTALL THE PREVIOUS VERSION OF THE STREAMING APP. The rev put out ~11/4/20 does not work. CANNOT GET TO LOGIN - App is absolutely broken with iOS 14.2. Ap shows “Get Started” screen and starts to take you to login but can’t deliver it. Appears to be processing but brings you back to “Get Started” 2x. Then times out. I’ve tried various combos of shutting down or hard restart of the phone and delete and reinstall of the app; no change. ALSO can not login on the Xfinity.com website despite repeated clearing of cache and restarting.

I have been an Xfinity customer for too long to remember and this app makes me mad. Other networks do not have the issues this app has had. I do not own a TV any more and all my watching is done online, so having shows audio skip out like a broken record and videos stop whil sound continues is like the dinosaur age of TV. And why is it not fixed? A mega company like this should have people doing quality control tests. Im tired of this dinosaur app. I have the same issues watching through a browser too btw. And I have no issues with NBC, CBS, ABCs apps. Excellent way to lose customers Xfinity. I can’t believe a major company has such a poor app. Sorry but this is stupidly ridiculous

I’ve used Xfinity stream on a smart TV, iPad and iPhone successfully until a little over a week ago. So I tried uninstalling the app and adding it back in. It looks like it must be a completely different version but it will not open even after repeated attempts and reinstalling it again. I’m ready to drop Comcast/Xfinity completely. It’s overpriced and under delivers.

While streaming, I often run into the problem of the ads repeating themselves and being unable to get back to watching my programs. The ads will continue to play over and over again and they’re constantly stuck on 1 of 5 ads left, never actually getting through them. Even closing the app and trying to start over won’t fix the problem.

I like to stream to my chromecast in the bedroom but there is only one issue. I have ruled out it being my TV after noticing the issue coming up at the same time. So before commercials the sound cuts out for a few seconds and also sometimes during the commercial. Then the sound will be back when the show comes back on but I miss the last few seconds of what they were saying. Hoping it’s a bug that’s fixed soon! Edit: also the streaming quality is sometimes really bad, not a clear picture. And it’s not my internet cause other apps stream perfectly.

The billing team told me they cannot give me credit for the days I was not able to use Xfinity app. A really bad example of customer care! I need to look into the options of switching my network.

Very disappointed that in order to have a security system other than xfinity’s means I have to split my 5 and 2.4 WiFi signals. However, doing so, this app, and only this app, then loses the fact that I am on my home WiFi. My computer via chrome works to watch “at home” channels, but this app on my phone doesn’t. It has been that way for over a year. Very disappointed with xfinity.

My family and I use this app to stream channels. There has been difficulties with streaming. For example, the app will rewind back to a part of the show we already saw or the last episode. A lot of time this happens after commercials, but the rewinding causes other issues like the captions lagging behind the audio. Also, if we try to fast forward back to where we were, it won’t move to the time stamp that I put it on and just go back to where I had moved it from. The app would be so much better if these bugs get fixed. Thx!!!!

I have been trying to watch Xfinity Stream on my phone away from home for the last five days either with data or wifi.I keep getting the message “We’re sorry. Something unexpected just happened. Please try again.” After going rounds with xfinity chat in which their support did not have an answer to my question, I spent an hour on hold to speak to an agent who me to uninstall the app and wait five to ten minutes and then reinstall. Agent wouldn’t listen to me telling her that I had already tried that and my issue was signing back into the app. Now when I press the Get Started, I get the same message. Now I am back on hold to try to be able to sign into an app, that according to other reviews, is not working anyway. On top of that she gave me a number to call for technical support that is no longer working. So much for their commitment to keep us connected during these times. I would give zero stars if that was an option.

I have had mine since Feb 20th and still can’t stream. From what I can tell you can download the streaming app on newer versions of my TV in the family room but mine is 7 years old but still a 55” LG Smart TV. I mainly started my service back up because I desperately needed the Internet to job hunt and that is where all my time has been spent (easy when your Cable isn’t working). I paid extra for the 300 mb/sec so I would be prepared to accept any type of position available including work from home, independent consultation, or partial commute. That is when the sales rep talked about the awesome streaming app and no monthly fee for equipment because there are no cable boxes for every TV. The 300 mb/sec Internet comes with a different router than other plans and it is also required for the streaming app service. The sales rep really unsold here on the service and by lowering my monthly bill due to no charges for each cable TV box, that is what sold me on this plan. Sales reps should verify over phone the make/model of your electronic equipment to ensure compatible for streaming services to work as intended for optimal performance. This would make sure customers have a good experience getting up and running efficiently and effectively with the new service being introduced. Plus, it is just the right thing to do.

The app is nice for watching your shows that air on cable directly on your phone or iPad, however, there are many issues with the app. For one, just searching for the show lands you in many loads of the title - each time you type a word or letter the titles take a moment to load. Now the load time isn’t longer than a couple of seconds, but when it goes multiple times the time starts becoming significant. Another major problem I have with this app is the functionality. When I tried to scroll through an episode of my show it would take me back to the spot I was at before scrolling and it would show me an additional advertisement. This specifically bothers me because I despise ads and I seriously despise when an extra ad is fed to me when it shouldn’t have. Wanting to watch my show while I ate, I kept trying to scroll and the same issue persisted - forcing me to watch 5 or so of the same Allstate ads (yes... bland). My food was getting cold and I was hungry so I gave up, closed the app, and moved on the the tv channel’s app. The app is okay, but it would a whole lot better for the customers to not have to experience multiple Allstate ads even though television needs to be a little bit greedy.

The $$ XFinity/Comcast spends on commercials (at least 1 every commercial break during a show) totally explains why our bill is OUTRAGEOUS every month! Zero perks for decades long customers! Just jacked up prices with channels taken away. Now this is for the iOS app on my iPad...I appreciate being able to set a recording from the app. However, I do have “⭐️ favorite channels” and Xfinity decides that every favorite network channel I save will be saved on every single channel # it is on in their guide which in my case is same network on 3 different channel numbers. In series settings I have it set to record ONLY on 1 channel. When I set a recording for a show on a favorite network it records the same show TIMES 3 because apparently I can’t just have 1 channel as a favorite for the same network. I do not need or want 3 of the same exact recording at the same exact time to be recorded. For as big as XFinity is one would think the app would be seemingly flawless. Is it really that difficult? Give your paying customers this benefit without constant frustration. Every update screws something up. Why?? BTW I don’t expect my review to ever be read by anyone with XFinity. Or any other reviews for that matter.

After about a week after posting below, I was on phone with Tech for about an hour. Help at 2nd tier with consulting help at 3rd tier, resolved my issue and app working fully now. Not changing stars, so people having same issue may find my post helpful. Only, less than 10 live channels. No recording option, On my IPhone 11 Pro or Ioad Air streem app. Spend about an hour with tech center. They were nice but could not resolved issue. I was advised to wait day or two if problem is resolved, after my waiting for 7 days to report to issue. I was told every thing looks good on their part, it must be some issue with app itself. Deleted and reinstalled app few times, sign in and out few times but nothing is helping. I was told my call ticket will serve as lead to what they have to do. I hope thing get resolved soon, great app otherwise.

I have never held Comcast in high regard because of their price gouging..I was paying well over $200 for internet and one tv with basic cable and they could never answer why friends I knew with more services were paying the same or less. I cancelled cable service but kept internet which included broadcast television for an additional $10 they the streaming app and it was working out well for me until it wasn’t anymore. Spent over an hour on the phone trying to figure out why my app won’t show any channels or recordings any more. Was transferred to a higher level tech support to no avail. They reset credentials, establishments and nothing. I have internet and pay extra for broadcast television that I have not been able to access for weeks. Representatives tried to be helpful but I’m still without the services I pay for. They said a level 3 tech would call back in 24-72 and this is the second time I have been told that with no return phone call. We are limited to the internet service available in our area or I would have disconnected my service all together a long time ago

Have been w Xfinity/Comcast since it was first offered in my area, decades. There has only been one occasion where I couldn’t access the app. The latest update has really impressed me. The Picture in Picture is so convenient, my favorite feature. They must have fixed the recommendations logic as well as the history because it actually works as you would expect it to—updated and relevant now, previously it would just randomly choose programs to suggest and the ‘recently watched’ was anything but. Very happy to see that they’ve improved the app to this level, I currently watch shows on it exclusively. Highly recommend this app.

I can no longer sign-in to the app on my iPad ever since updating to iPadOS 13. When I attempt to login it gives an error advising “Back Office Provision Error”. It then has a pop up that says restarting device, and it goes through the whole process all over again with the same results. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app several times and still cannot get logged in. Calling Comcast customer services offers no help or solution for this issue. Really disappointing since we are paying for a service that we can no longer even use! We are left with a choice to either update to the latest iOS and lose out on this app working or stay with an outdated iOS version and continue to be able to use the app, but risk your device by not having the latest security fixes etc. I’ve heard this issue is also happening with phones updating to iOS 13. Due to paying for a service that I can no longer use and can’t offer help or a solution: 1 Star Rating

I’ve been a user of Comcast or Xfinity for ten years. I switch over to Direct TV due to price three years ago. Once my two year contacts was up with Direct tv. I ran back to Comcast due to the speed of the internet, voice command on the remotes and the price of direct TV. It was costing me close to $200. Plus I still had to pay $79 for WiFi. I love the streaming app on my phone on. I can be at a friends home and they are watching something on tv that I don’t like I can watch what I want on my phone. I love the package that I have but the prices are high but I have the premium stations; stars, hbo, showtime. Sports packages all for $235 a month. I have the fastest WiFi that they offer, plus I have five TV sets in my home with each having a cable box. For me it’s a great deal.

I like it. I like how much mobility it has since you can have it on a phone or tablet and still be able to move it wherever you want as long as you have Wi-Fi for it to be able to work. Sometimes when I can’t see the tv in a part of my apartment, then I can just watch tv via tablet with my Xfinity stream app. And also what if you don’t want to watch whatever is on that someone else is watching, then the app is a great option to go. I think my best favorite part of the app is to be able to take it any place you want. Sometimes I run into problems when I can’t get good Wi-Fi reception. But other than that I find it an a+++ tool to have.

Due to being customer since the late 1990’s, I was once considered a VIP. My service was great and I had HBO, Showtime, Starz and occasionally a free movie!!! Well being a senior on a fixed income, past essential worker, my bill on your quad plan has increased at least $75 over the last two years and ALL my “PERKS” have been eliminated!!! I am Strongly considering termination of my service with you, which I’m sure you could care less about, but FOOD is still important to me!!! So I’ll see what your next negotiations bring, and if no perks continue and my bill continues to exceed $250 a month, I will consider termination. I’ve really enjoyed my Internet, phone, cable and security system for 20+ years, but I will find it hard to recommend new customers to you, especially when I hear they have FREE Netflix and I couldn’t even added to my plan for just under $300 a month!!!

One of the things that I really like about it is that I can watch shows from all networks in one place and keep track of which episodes I have and have not watched. I did read some reviews saying that I can only watch it while connected to my WiFi’s at home. If that is the case, since I haven’t tried lately, I will be really disillusioned. I have plenty of other streaming tv/movie services that don’t require this. I like to travel and take them with me. But since I’ve only used it at home it’s been good. What I would improve is the home screen. It will show me shows that I am watching, but when I select it, it takes me to the wrong episode. I have to go to favorites and select an episode.
Recorded programs not added to lists of programs

Been using this app for years, very happy with it till now. Recently after a show was recorded the program would disappear, even though I could use rewind and fast forward while show was being recording, once it was complete it would be gone, but my set top box showed it was still there. I did some troubleshooting and also found I was getting error massages when I modified any recording settings on my iPad, but didn't have this issue on my set top box. UPDATE :) My recordings are available again! Life is good. Thanks for the quick response!

I have been a Comcast customer for years and very pleased. Since the service is now called Xfinity, it has been a nightmare! I have been on the phone for since July 5 and God only knows how many hours! It started with phone issues, then WiFi issues, then tv issues that are still ongoing. I have a new modem, new remote (not compatible with my Tv. New remote being ordered; never received and was told order was never processed. Can’t access tv apps for reasons a normal person like me would never know. Last night, July 23, I’m told I need a new box!!! It has been ordered and should arrive within 30 days!!! This morning I get a message telling me to go ahead and get started by installing this app. Now all I see are these negative reviews. OMG I think I’ve been given bad advise again! I think I’m done. Don’t need this additional anxiety!

This app is amazing, and I love that I can cast my favorite shows to my tv. However, there is one slight issue. If I’m streaming to my tv and I leave the app for a moment to check on, say, Tumblr, and then I go back to this app a little while later to change the episode of whatever show I’m watching, it’ll glitch and shoot my tv’s volume up to about 80! Like I’ll select an episode and it won’t register on the tv and start playing on my phone instead. Then if I tap the little stream icon in the corner of the app to see if it’s still streaming, the app will flip out and my tv’s volume will jump to around 80 or 82 and blasts my ear off! I actually damaged one of my tv speakers because of this glitch!

Xfinity Stream App was working fine until about 10 days ago when it suddenly STOPPED WORKING on our iPad2. After attempting to update & failing, calling customer service numerous times, and getting the “royal” runaround, we now realize the truth: Xfinity updated us to extinction! That is, they created an update that is NOT backward compatible to run on the “mature” hardware devices owned & used by their customers. Amazingly, the App was working flawlessly— and if it’s not broke, don’t “fix” it! This “update” is both sad and frustrating for the MILLIONS of your paying customers who still use these older devices. We expect BETTER from Xfinity! Please give us back what you promised —and what we are PAYING for: “the ability to stream from every device in our home!” Please issue another version of your software that will continue to be compatible!

I hope that through the money people will save in the future to share a car that drives itself you’ll be able to watch whatever you want on your phone during the time we are transported in a car and this is the best way to watch live and recordings on the go. And local sports when they come back. All of with streaming movies. Xfinity is a bit pricey but this app alone makes up for a lot to get your use out of their service. And now I can stream onto google products reducing the necessity for renting more boxes. And you can control it with your voice.

I use this app all the time because I travel a lot seeing my grandchildren. At first, what was recorded on my home TV was also on my iPad. At some point that changed, and I’ve noticed that recordings are dropping off the iPad if they’ve been on there for more than two weeks. I wasn’t told that when I signed on, and I made it clear that was one of the reasons I chose Comcast. To be able to watch my shows when I am away for any length of time. Is it practice to only hold recordings on the iPad for a certain period of time? They are not really lost because the recordings are still there on my TV box, they are only removed from my iPad.

We travel often and also spend weeks away from home at a time. This app is often our best option to watch what we prefer to watch. We record our favorite programs and watch when we want to. Until recently you could not record from the app which wasn’t convenient. This is an improvement. It is a disappointment when watching something live it states you can’t watch away from your home. When we’ve been on cruises, we watch TV on our app as it beats their TV options! This app is definitely used in our home and feel it compensates some for cable’s high prices.

The picture on my old Samsung Smart TV died about three days after the lockdown started in California. I was making do without a TV but intended to replace the old boob tube when I could. Now, after I discovered Xfinity had an app for mobile devices, I may not bother. With no baseball season, there’s not much to watch anyway. I had no trouble installing once I had turned off Apple’s useless “double-click the sidebar” to complete the iPhone installation (you turn it off by turning on settings/accessibility/sidebar/use passcode for payment).

This was horrible! I am pet and house sitting while my close friends are away. They have xfinity streaming service, but they don’t have Disney plus so I decided to just screen share my Disney plus on their tv, but it doesn’t even work (and I tried plenty of times!) so I just looked it up. It told me to download this app, then press a share button or whatever. So I download the app and immediately it says I have to sign in the they can “spy” on me I guess. At this point I’m frustrated because all I want to do is screen share! So I try to skip the sign in process because I don’t even have an xfinity ID and I don’t plan on getting one because I don’t use Xfinity at all! This was useless and quite stressful. I DONT recommend this app at all unless it’s necessary or you have an account which most likely you do.

This app, in my opinion, is better than any other “cable” app I’ve ever had. I love how I can now record shows from my phone, so I don’t need to be home when I think of a show that I want to record. I also love how I can download a recorded show so that I can watch it later on when I don’t have WiFi. It’s awesome. My daughter is just about 3 yrs old and I’m able to keep her busy with this app, watching her favorite shows, when we’re running errands. I love watching tv on my phone when doing dishes and other house chores, so yea I love this app & I use it all the time.
Handy and Reliable

This app has been so handy for us in a myriad of circumstances where we need to access our TV channels or recordings while we are out of our current WiFi range. Excellent quality on my iPad using my cellular hot spot. That said, there are occasional hiccups which cause the video to freeze while the audio continues on. Rare but happens. Also occasionally live TV is blacked out for “in-room viewing” at times on some channels; cannot understand the logic behind it as the technology allows it. But overall, very, very happy with the service.
Location not wanted

I was away from home and wanted to watch live TV of a program that is local when I am at home. I thought I’d be able to do this since I could just sign into Xfinity, which has my home information. Instead it accesses my location to show me what the local station is playing. Why would I need to stream the local station on the app when I could just turn on the TV?!? I tried clicking on the program from the program list and then watch. Nope. It did not show me the program I wanted. Instead I was routed to the local channel. This defeats the point of being able to stream from my cable subscription. It literally says at the top that I am watching the show, but instead I am watching the local station. What is the point of the app if I can’t stream what I want?

I like to stream to my chromecast in the bedroom but there is only one issue. I have ruled out it being my TV after noticing the issue coming up at the same time. So before commercials the sound cuts out for a few seconds and also sometimes during the commercial. Then the sound will be back when the show comes back on but I miss the last few seconds of what they were saying. Hoping it’s a bug that’s fixed soon! Edit: also the streaming quality is sometimes really bad, not a clear picture. And it’s not my internet cause other apps stream perfectly.

We have had Comcast / Xfinity for years, long before they came out with TV Programming and have been pleased, for the most part with Service, Upgrades, Programming, Computer Service/Connectivity... Understanding that the underground cables run some 60 - 70 miles from the transmission site, with a lot (tons) of construction on Highways, New Roads, and Homes being built between her and there... Just have to role with it. Customer Service I have to say has been really Outstanding...! Their Reps in Customer Service are First Class... Work for You to make things Right for You.

Love using this app to watch live tv, recorded shows or to record shows from anywhere that I can watch later either on my phone, tablet or TV! I’ve even downloaded shows. Been using it for over a year. The one problem I've had only lately is it sometimes won’t let me delete shows I just finished watching but it’s fine, I just delete later. I watch tv anywhere (out somewhere, while cooking, etc. ) and it saved me a cable box for my bedroom! Very handy and I highly recommend!!

There is a continual problem with this app on my ipad mini4 - sometimes the picture completely disappears when the pad’s home button is pressed to make the picture smaller, and even more frustrating is the app’s continual tendency not to restore the full picture (zoom out) when the app’s button is pressed, freezing the program being (or attempted to being) watched. This has become increasingly worse over time and you would think an extremely large media conglomerate like Comcast would have someone to fix this relatively simple app - I can only conclude this is yet again the corporate attitude (or lack thereof) of Comcast / Xfinity. Time for a change / more competition in the media market (that should be the American way).

When you first download this app it is great. You can watch shows on the go and plug in headphones so you never miss a beat. Then, the luster wears off. You realize that half of the channels do not work unless you are connected to your home WiFi. Then the live shows continue to constantly buffer to the point that you no longer want to watch the show. Constant adds and no rewinding or fast forwarding for previously aired shows. Similar to Comcast, when things are going well, it’s just okay. When things aren’t, you’re so frustrated that you find something more productive to do. Get it together.... But then again, I’m moving soon so I won’t be dealing with it much longer.

The app starts, stalls and after a few moments the sound drops out and comes back. Sometimes when I start it, two audio tracks play at the same time or will not cancel out when a call comes in or using another app. During the recent Super Bowl half-time show it stopped streaming and said I needed to watch on my home wi-fi like I was and had been all day. My network was fine. The problem resolved later in the game. Same general problems with strong cellular data or wifi with 200 mbs down and on two different iOS phones. Reminds me of the old televisions and how fussy they could be but it worked. Mostly. Eventually. You deal with it and move on but I expect more.

We have one TV in our household of two adults and two young children. At the same time we have several iOS devices including phones and tablets. I absolute love being able to set up the iPad by the sink as I do dishes and watch a football or baseball game (the only sports fan in the house). It has totally eliminated the need for us to have more than one television, which we use primarily for family viewing of movies and shows. Keep up the good work!
Closed captioning and delete

I watch my recorded shows with closed captioning majority of the time on my iPad and iPhone - as soon as I fast forward after a commercial break, I need to go to the settings again and turn on the closed captioning- didn’t experience that until very recently-very annoying. Please fix. Also, as long as I can remember my shoes don’t always delete on my devices when I’ve completed it and pushed the button to delete it. After I push the button to delete it, it says ‘recording deleted,’ but, the majority of the time, it’s still there - also pretty annoying and needs to be fixed.

Idk why tf they got rid of me being able to record shows from the app. I sometimes don’t have time to go home and record something. Or if I forgot to record something an couple hours before I won’t be able to record it since I might not be home in time. I no longer have the pleasure to simply record from the app. The stupidest change they decided to do. Also when I record something and a show was pushed back. Meaning I have half a show I didn’t want to watch and half of my show I did want to. I would delete that episode the search on demand. I click to watcj the episode I wanted to see and it brings me back to that recording I already recorded. So inconvenient.
Klugey and Too Slow

This app is annoying, because it pops up messages to say when it is preparing or deleting downloads. None of my other entertainment apps (Netflix, Prime, CBS All Access, Disney +, etc.) do this. They just start the download or delete processes in the background and let me go about my business of navigating through the app. With Stream, you are forced to watch pulsing ellipses and wait for the app to do its thing. It’s a painfully slow experience. Just one more nudge toward cutting the cable... Otherwise, the app is good in the quality of video and availability of content. I would like the ability to rent new movies in the app as well, though.

Part of the reason I have stayed loyal to Xfinity is because of the Xfinity Stream app. But these last couple of years I have experienced on going issues and I’m about ready to cut cable all together! In the past my programs would skip as I was watching my different recordings. I tried calling customer service and only became infuriated because the rep could not speak clear English nor did they understand my issue because I was speaking to someone either in India or Mexico, or the Philippines. Now fast forward a year later I can only get through 5 minutes of each show that I watch then my show freezes up. I am hesitant to even contact customer service bc that would be a waste of my time. Very disappointed customer!;-(

UPDATE: Wish I knew if this is the norm for others using XFinity. It’s difficult to watch an hour of news, with 10 or 15 breaks of no sound for a few seconds up to a minute or even more. The video also bounces around the ADS (not that I care about that!), often going overtime, & we miss part of the program. Extremely frustrating. *********************** I’ve been generally pleased with Xfinity for several years, but recently (timed with an update?) there are many times an hour when I lose sound, and/or the video stalls, generally when watching cable news. It’s irritating, to the extent I don’t use it much anymore.

I ran into the same issue where after the Xfinity stream software was updated, the streaming app did not work. It would not even connect. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it. At that point, it would show the link that said “get started“. When pressing it, it never moved on and eventually an error message came up saying something went wrong. So, reinstalling the app didn’t work. What finally worked after working with the reps, was to delete the old app, reboot the iPhone and then reinstall the app. But also I needed to reboot the modem and router. Well I could access all other websites, for some reason, when this app tried to reach out to Comcast URL, it failed. Rebooting the modem and router worked.

I have a third generation iPad. Used it mainly for watching TV in a room where I don’t have a tv hookup. It was really great having the stream app and be able to see the cable content that I pay over $300 dollars a month for in any room in my house! Then one day it just stopped working. Why... because some genius at Comcast decided to make the app no longer functional with any IOS below 12!! So everyone that used this app that has an iPad that’s older than about 6 years is out of luck!! THANKS SO MUCH COMCAST! Would it really kill you to allow older operating systems to still be able to utilize this app? What do you gain from forcing customers to buy new iPads? Does Apple give you a cut? That’s doubtful. So... why cut us out?????
Not Working After Fix

I’ve been having issues with this app after the most recent updates this past week. Nothing was loading, it would just show grayed out boxes for all listing and would not load any other page (such as favorites). I’ve tried updating all software for both device and app. I’ve tried deleting and reloading app and restarted my device. After re-downloading the app and restarting my device I’m now stuck on the “Get Started” page, it will not allow me to proceed and link up to our WiFi/Xfinity login. I’m not sure what else to do. This most recent round of fixes do not seem to be good ones. Otherwise I loved the app before and miss being able to use the services.

I have been an Xfinity customer for too long to remember and this app makes me mad. Other networks do not have the issues this app has had. I do not own a TV any more and all my watching is done online, so having shows audio skip out like a broken record and videos stop whil sound continues is like the dinosaur age of TV. And why is it not fixed? A mega company like this should have people doing quality control tests. Im tired of this dinosaur app. I have the same issues watching through a browser too btw. And I have no issues with NBC, CBS, ABCs apps. Excellent way to lose customers Xfinity. I can’t believe a major company has such a poor app. Sorry but this is stupidly ridiculous

I can use this app wherever I go to watch TV whenever I want. And they couldn’t have done anything else to improve it that I can think of other than the new feature. And that is being able to set up to record programs when I am not at home. The only thing I can’t do is watch live programs that are broadcast when I am not within my home WiFi. So I simply record them to watch them later.
Unreliable, Inconsistent - Duped and Paying More

The app on iPad and on Lg Smart TV are inconsistent at best. On the iPad, I have had to - over several months - make multiple login attempts, sometimes over a period of 2-3 days just to pay my bill online! I have called Xfinity a time or two in order to pay bill over the phone and let them know about the Stream issue (but nothing has changed). We recently were gifted an Lg Smart Tv with Xfinity app pre downloaded and it now freezes up upon app initiation. It is so frustrating to be a loyal, hassle-free one-time paying customer and not be able to utilize and depend upon the full measure of services for which we pay.

I have full and extended cable with Xfinity. I can live stream on my iPad but only a very few channels on my iPhone. I have spent much time with tech services to no avail. I do pay a pretty high premium for my cable and X1 box and I own three homes in different locations so when I travel I want to be able to use the service as the company promised. I chose Xfinity over other competing companies for this very reason. They need to put some good programmers to work on this. Their remote streaming is not an acceptable service as it is.
Picture freezes

Really love the Xfinity stream app. It has been a game changer for me. But recently the picture freezes but the audio continues. This doesn’t happen everyday but several times a week. It isn’t my device because it happens on both iPad and iPhone. I have tried all the fixes and once the picture freezes there is no correcting it. I have read others are having the same problem. I hope this is corrected soon because the app is great other than this problem .

Please fix your app and put out an update to it ... said by someone who has never taken the time to write a review about any app before ... truly sad and pathetic that part of your sales pitch for getting home service (right on your website) says, “Watch anywhere, on any device, any time you like” ... YET ... that is not the actuality of it, because your always SLOW with ANY UPDATES & FIXES ... AND ... whenever there is an iOS update, it’s a guarantee that the app won’t work correctly—and doesn’t. Not something that happens with any/most other streaming services. Just Xfinity/Comcast app. Horrible—we are definitely NOT getting what we pay for with our cable/internet package.

Apple seems to make it a problem in the following ways and xfinity needs to amp it up Why can’t we have an ap on Apple TV for xfinity go or why can’t we use screen mirror to play it in a screen from phone or iPad When you can with a laptop or Roku etc This app is really good but we need the open flexibility and Apple and xfinity need to solve this it’s definitely not enjoyed by end users to be prevented from screen mirroring xfinjty go app
Update to Obsolescence

I use this app almost every day. I usually have ESPN running on my iPad in a corner on my desk as I work. Now the app requires an update and will not work. However, when I tried the update, it simply opens the same app and does not offer an actual update. I have a perfectly good iPad 4, now 8 years old... yes I get it. The OS support is gone now (10.3.4). But the developers of this app have shut users out by not allowing backward compatibility. One more gripe since I'm here... Comcast claims TV Anywhere on any device; yet try to watch a game if you are not on your home network!! What's the point? I'll watch it on TV if I'm at home. I pay a hefty bill every month to Comcast. Their services are substandard!

I love this app so I can watch the news or entertain myself while I’m in the kitchen making dinner. Within the last couple of weeks though it has been buggy to say the least. Audio will cut out randomly, I get the four dots while trying to stream live TV, pauses constantly (especially during a good part in a show). When I stop watching something and don’t force close the app then the show will start playing again (audio only). I end up using data if I leave the house and a show is playing in my purse. I’d expect better especially how much we pay for cable/internet service.

To preface, I actually like Xfinity in general. Anecdotally, I have always experienced good people and support both online and in store, and never had any issues with my services- they all work well, are reliable, and for a good price. Having tried other cable providers and just about every streaming service, I haven’t found one that beats X1 for me- on price, channels, or features. All that said, this app itself works pretty well. I think the UI could be cleaned up, and made a bit faster- but it does all the core work of giving me my service on mobile devices. What loses stars for me is this- this app is not available on devices like the AppleTV and they intentionally go out of their way to block chrome cast or airplay functionality. And for what? To try and force me to pay for another box? It’s pure greed, and xfinity to take note of the direction that competitors like AT&T, Spectrum, etc. have taken their auxiliary streaming apps. Short sighted and out of touch for Xfinity.
