Worth the Price But Still A Bit Lacking
by AAIGH on 2019/08/14 07:16
I really balked at paying $50/year for an email app at first. I've tried them all--Spark, AirMail, the native app, Cloud Magic (predecessor of this app), everything. Every one had some little thing or other that I couldn't put up with. I was astonished that anyone would charge for email (even if it was just 14¢ a day). I've come around, though. It works well, and would be the best except for one item. Emails can only be viewed in about 2/3 of a page in an iPad. The other 1/3 is reserved for the list of emails. Other apps allow an email, once tapped, to be viewed on an entire iPad page. I hope that changes. Still, this is one of the very best out there, and well worth what is paid for something used many times every day.
49.99 not worth it
by Rod2526 on 2019/08/12 17:44
We are thrilled to be back. Please give us your $49.99 and for that you'll get zero improvements, zero bug fixes and zero customer service. Didn’t pay $49.99 for incompetent devs to not make any improvements in 6 months. I want my money back or I’m going to sue you. Devs are obvious incompetent morons Newton getting their friends to post fake reviews. For $49.99 you would expect leaps and bounds above every other email. Sorry, not even close. Can't even read emails in landscape mode. The worst email apps in the store allow you to do that Re-launching an app, charging people $49.99 for features free in other apps and then not providing updates for 5 months is just stupid. They responded to my email stating they have plans for updates, but no timeline. This is unacceptable. Don't waste your money. You've been warned. Forked over the $49.99 and three months has passed with no updates, no new features and no improvement of any sort. Save your money and avoid being screwed
I love Newton but not confident in Cloudmagic
by markbyrn on 2019/08/07 12:01
Given the past shutdown of Newton, it’s worrying that Cloudmagic hasn’t updated the app in 5 months. Also, I found the Spark mail app to a solid free alternative.
Abandoned it because of weak search
by /r:b: on 2019/08/07 03:03
Beautiful and enjoyable to use in many ways, but the weak search killed it for me. Searching by sender just spun too long, and didn’t retrieve what I was looking for. Back to Gmail app, reluctantly.
Stay away.
by PastorGil on 2019/07/18 21:23
No updates in months, and there are issues that need to be corrected. Went from recommending this app to recommending you stay away.
Great Email Client
by JimSageFin on 2019/07/14 23:40
The very best email client I've ever used on my iOS device. Great functionality and well designed. It’s still the best I’ve ever used. Great support.
Simply the best email app!
by smileyC8 on 2019/07/12 12:10
Firstly, email is a very great way to communicate. Anyone telling you that email is dead is either lying or doesn’t know how to use email properly. Newton doesn’t try to ‘reinvent’ email, you can do email the way you want. It only adds features to make email more powerful. It’s essential if you have multiple email accounts as I do.
Reading Your Email?
by Andrew209 on 2019/06/14 11:05
Despite requests in writing to exclude accounts from Facebook marketing, I have been repeatedly targeted by Facebook for items very similar to those being discussed in private email. Apple: you need to investigate. Potential Newton subscribers: look elsewhere. Polymail, even Banantag if you seek open tracking. Something isn’t quite right with Newton.
Hasn’t been updated in 4 months
by Rhythm Patrol on 2019/06/13 05:25
Company doesn’t stand behind it’s product. Insanely expensive to not be updated in 4 months.
Doesn’t really support imap
by Colbie k on 2019/06/05 21:02
Doesn’t support imap for the big carriers!! How can you create and email app that doesn’t support imap for Gmail, outlook, etc. this is crucial when using specific servers etc for business and perosnal use
To rich for my blood
by Tkchristina3 on 2019/05/31 13:50
I really want to try this app but $49.00 is way more than I can spend. I have been waiting for an app that could help me tame my beast of an email box. Your app seem like the one but I just can’t spend money frivolously.😟 please make a free version. Completely free. No strings attached. Thank you
Disappointed
by Used to love king games! on 2019/05/28 14:33
I really loved this app! Was sad to see them say they were leaving BUT they come back and want to charge $50 to use it???? Not even willing to do a monthly subscription.... I'd love to know how many people popped down $50.....
Great app but.....updates?
by Pilsanity on 2019/05/21 13:33
This is the the best email app I have used since Astro got bought by Slack. I am concerned that they haven’t updated the app in 3 months. The support team has been super responsive and was able to fix an issue I had on the server side so that’s good news. Given the history of this app I am worried that we will never see an update. I have seen most email apps ship update every couple weeks.
ONLY A CASH COW, NOW 🐂
by Imaginuhre on 2019/05/16 15:20
I was one of the people who went back to Newton when someone else bought it out, hoping the new owners would work the UI and make it relevant and competitive with other email programs, like SPARK. I’m VERY disappointed that there hasn’t been an update in THREE months, which is when the new company took it over. It WAS promising; new owners bringing new ideas and making the program relevant again. With so many slicker email programs out there, most notably SPARK, the expectation was that the new owners would not delay with rolling out significant UI updates based on what the consumer is expecting an email program should be. The new owners appear to be using this program as a cash cow, riding on the reputation of the program built by the previous owners, with no intention of updating it. NOTHING. I just paid for an outdated program only because it tracks when the emails are read and in the hopes improvements would be coming. NOPE, NO UPDATE IN THREE MONTHS. Great job, guys; buy it, run it into the ground while making as much money as you can, then move on. I won’t be resubscribing.
Significant Issues
by H.M.Ali on 2019/05/07 18:11
It used to sync with Mac App but whatever I delete or move it still shows on Mac and same is the case if I do it from Mac. Before relaunch Newton used to tell the ‘location’ and ‘device’ of the recipient alongside well but no it’s no longer support. Seems like I’m soon going to unsubscribe the app as it’s not serving the purpose for which I subscribed again.
Stable Fast and Read Receipts!
by Mbalex99 on 2019/04/24 10:41
What more can I ask for! Great syncing, fast and has awesome read receipts which is something I need. Wish I had more ability to supercharge!
Sent "not read" emails
by CobraA1 on 2019/04/13 19:20
So I was rearranging tags in Gmail, now I have a Newton/Doped folder and a bunch of emails sent without permission.
Solid Replacement for Inbox
by Mark ... on 2019/04/10 08:18
The app is stable, the design is clean, and although the workflow is different, the newsletter and social media email filters catch just about everything inboxes bundles caught - making this the best replacement for inbox of the lot. Also the read receipts and signature feature (you can use a different signature for the second + email in a chain) are killer. Features I’d love to see (all from inbox... rip) 1. Bundle travel emails together with flight information. 2. Allow me to accept or decline calendar invites without opening the email that attached them. 3. Group emails by day/week/month so I have some context for time. Thanks for making a solid email client, - Mark
I want to like it
by Mark Stoneman on 2019/04/08 02:30
I want to like it because there are some very handy features, especially on mobile devices. I don't like how it wants to force users to use it in certain ways, especially when I've been using email for some 25 years. I would also suggest that they offer monthly pricing at a somewhat higher rate in order to give people a chance to really work with it. A two-week trial is not enough time to put this through its paces. A small monthly subscription fee could give one a bit more time to see how things play out in one's workflow. Small iPad bug, maybe Newton, or maybe the mail server: Newton claims I have a new/unread message, but I don't.
Unreasonable pricing for an email client
by AlexJH2013 on 2019/04/07 12:58
I gave this a chance and wanted to like it, but it surely is nothing revolutionary and not worth the ridiculous price. I enjoy paying for software that brings value, and I understand and appreciate the need to monetize their previously free product, but don’t understand the outrageous recurring price for an email client. Reduce your price and get more customers while retaining brand loyalty. I cannot recommend this product.
The company doesn’t keep its promises to customers
by lex.me on 2019/04/03 14:54
I got a 50% lifetime discount deal for Newton email app. The deal was a decisive factor for me to use this app considering many many excellent free alternatives. After Newton email was shut down and in business again, the customer services refused to give me my discounted price. I have paperwork that proves the deal.
Best email app I have ever used
by Dog log jackson on 2019/03/25 14:23
Bar none the most clever email app ever. Easy to use fast neat features. Glad it is back.
NEWTON IS BACK!!!
by evanstewart4 on 2019/03/22 04:25
As a person who works with hundreds of emails per day, Newton is the only app I’ve ever used that made email a really friendly and efficient experience. My life was sad when Newton went away ☹️ but it’s back and now the future has never been brighter 🥳
Best email app, hands down.
by jakekemple on 2019/03/20 18:42
After spending some time without Newton, I realized it’s easily the best email client on the market, especially for iOS/Mac platforms. Visually spectacular and great for dealing with multiple email accounts. For me, the cost is worth it.
Won’t commit to fixing annoying bugs
by chinanderm on 2019/03/19 14:57
Despite contacting the developer several times over the past year, they are refusing to commit to fixing a simple, annoying bug in the app. I would rate it five stars but not without a commitment to fixing bugs, especially for a paid service.
Best mobile email app
by U WILL C on 2019/03/16 12:21
The Swiss Army knife of email apps. Combine all your emails into one inbox. Review them separately. Send an email at a designated time. Receive notification if you fail to get a response. Automatic read receipts. Goodbye Inbox, hello email threads, which combine the sent folder and Inbox. Mild gripes: would be nice to have capability of larger text for Inbox previews and ability to send from other certified email addresses, as Google mail does.
Great design, but dicey privacy and customer support
by levinels on 2019/03/14 01:53
This is my favorite email app that I've used, probably next to the late Mailbox (RIP). Unfortunately, once I dug into their privacy policy and how they store your mail on their servers, I became uncomfortable with continuing to use it. I also moved over to using Proton Mail and unfortunately Newton doesn't support their IMAP bridge setup (presumably because Newton needs to route all the mail through THEIR servers). When I requested a refund of the app, their support team was unhelpful and callous. I eventually was able to get a refund by calling Apple directly. Again, great design. Really delightful stuff. Just wish the business side of things was better run.
Happy Customer
by Babe Adhis on 2019/03/13 23:42
I am so happy that the app is back and working and it makes checking all my email accounts easy because I can access them under one app.
Best email app EVER

Fantastic email app
Garbage Support from a $50/year Email App
by George Germanos on 2019/03/07 20:45
I was a happy user of Newton and was very saddened to hear they were shutting down. Like many others, I was thrilled to hear they were back - however they no longer honored the discounted subscription pricing for old users. Support was incredibly unhelpful and pretty much told me I was SOL. Not a way to treat users, especially as the priciest email service on the App Store. Stay away if you expect support from a $50/year email service.
Worth every penny!
by doworksm on 2019/03/03 18:46
This app is amazing! I love how customizable it is, yet not overwhelming. When I stopped using newton mail because I thought they were going out of business, I spent months trying to find the best email application that worked for all my devices. Hands down Newton mail is the best! I use multiple emails, and it keeps it tidy, and neat. I paid the subscription fee in a heart beat. It comes out to a little over $4 a month. That’s nothing compared to what you get. Plus their customer service is phenomenal. I had a question and they got back to me on the weekend! This is a must use!
No unified Trash, Spam, etc.
by HeresMyTwoCents on 2019/03/02 04:17
Newton is a beautifully designed email app, make no mistake about it. All the fonts, colors, icons, spacing, etc. are perfectly chosen and very pleasing to the eye. It has wonderful functionality all around, and is a real pleasure to use… except for two major areas that bring my workflow to a screeching halt. While it does offer a unified Inbox, it does NOT offer a unified view across all your email accounts for your Trash folder, Sent emails, Spam, etc. This might not seem like a big deal, until you have seven different email accounts you have to keep track of. Then you find yourself constantly swiping back and forth all day long going in and out of seven different email accounts just to have to look in all these different folders. It’s a nightmare! This is one thing Spark handles flawlessly. Sadly, this missing feature cripples Newton for me. Newton also doesn’t provide the ability to eliminate certain email accounts from showing up in the unified Inbox. Again, this is crucial. My wife isn’t technically savvy, but she does need an email account, so I just keep an eye on her emails for her… but I do not want her emails clogging up my inbox. I just need them on my phone in her separate account. Unfortunately, Newton does not allow me to separate them out that way. It’s a real shame! I thought I had found the perfect email app, but I guess I’ll have to keep looking. So close, but not close enough.
Hands down the best email client I have ever used
by engagethebrain on 2019/03/01 18:50
I can’t fully explain why, but I am so much more productive using this email client. A few things I know for sure: It eliminates distractions with the clean design, the Super Chargers are done far better than equivalent versions of the same from other companies, and it works across so many platforms. I find my self looking for things less, thinking about what to do next less, because I know that when I give it a task it will be done correctly and reliably. It is worth every penny of $50 a year. The only suggestion would give is that they add the ability to have email templates, something I still have to use Spark for.
Terrible Privacy Policy
by erik.nyc on 2019/02/25 03:33
An app that charges $50/year should not be using my data to target me with ads. “We may work with third-party social platforms, such as Facebook, to serve ads to you as part of a customized campaign” It’s a shame because I used to love this product and would pay again in a heartbeat, if they stuck to their original policy: "All the information we collect from you is only used to give you the best possible experience using Newton. We don’t run ads inside the product or sell data to make money. We’ve built a good product and charge our users a subscription to run the business."
Happy this app is back
by Chuck3232 on 2019/02/23 06:20
This app still has some functionality work to improve. However, I still appreciate how smooth, simply and elegantly it operates. Happy Newton is back in operation!

This is, by far, plain and simple, the best email app out there.
The most bestest
by newyorkerzzz on 2019/02/21 19:46
This is the best app for emails. You can stop searching- this is it! When they shut it down, I went around and tried bunch of other apps (desktop and mobile). I ended up hating to read emails cause of the mess. AND FINALLY THEY ARE BACK! I ❤️ you!!!
Newton is worth every penny and more!
by rprokic on 2019/02/20 13:11
UPDATE: Newton is back. Since my last review, Newton Mail got even better with supercharged features such as Tidy Inbox, Connected Apps, Read Receipts, Recap, Snooze. Latest version implements GIPHY support. All this while still providing a fast and powerful but clean simple GUI. And it still costs only 14 cents a day. — I recently learned about Newton as another excellent email app. I read some negative reviews from the early adopters, but I read many more positive reviews as well. What it boils down to is this. Newton is a cutting edge email app that does things better than every other app. I don't have a problem with their pricing model, and you shouldn't either. Many of us own expensive iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches to use this app on, making our lives easier in managing the ever increasing email traffic. Folks, it only costs 14 cents a day! I say the benefits of this app is worth that price and much more.
The best email app for IOS / MacOS and I’ve tried a few...
by Techexpert007 on 2019/02/19 20:28
Glad to see Newton is back. Was a customer last year before they shut down in Sep 2018. Tried several others since then: Spark, Airmail, Polymail. None was offering the smooth UI on both IOS and MacOS, reliability needed for business email, and all features of Newton: killer feature is definitely read receipts for each recipient separately and each time email is opened, and working also on a forwarded or replied message, but also: decent Newsletter and spam detection that also works when your Mac is not on to not flood your inbox and overwhelm with notifications, Snooze, Send Later etc. The only thing for which I still use Mac Mail is searching through emails. That is still not as good on Newton.
What?!?! Y’all are back?!?! Thank god!
by JCAS713 on 2019/02/19 17:27
You’ve been missed by my husband and I... I swear my emails are out of control and lacking and I’m so happy to be able to go back to your app now!!! Can not wait to tell my husband (we also are business partners)... I think this will make his day.... ps this is the only review I’ve ever left in the last decade or so of having an iPhone...
My New Standard for Others to Live Up To
by Pirate727 on 2019/02/19 17:24
Newton got it right. At first, I thought it was just going to be another slide and file/copycat email app. But what I found was an intuitive, email workflow that was clearly more thought out. I needed something that would give me all the features of Gmail’s app, and my Cloze app that even they couldn’t give me in one cross-platform package. Newton does it all in a clean, minimal interface that keeps everything out of your way until you need it and is unlike any of the other apps I’ve used. I ended up subscribing because after the trial I realized that I wasn’t going to be able to live without it. That’s when you know the app is working for you. I look forward to continued development now that they have new owners. In the meantime I’m going to spread the Newton love.
Happy It’s Back!
by Quick Jeff on 2019/02/19 14:03
So happy to see that the Newton Mail App is finally back! I have tested outlook mail, gmail app and more. I always come back to check if Newton is back because Newton does so much more and is reliable. Thanks for bringing it back!!
Waste of my $50 & a lot of my time
by Abusymobileguy on 2019/02/19 12:38
Have exchanged several emails with developer who can not determine why their $50/year app cannot connect to my employers’ exchange email server when 3 other ‘free’ apps (Edison mail, myMail, & Outlook can). I had used this product since it was Cloud Magic to access this same email account for several years. After their update a few months before they stopped supporting their app, it stopped working with my employers’ email account. Due to their previous track record I thought they would have, or be able to, fix this problem that other mail apps don’t have. Not the case. And Apple’s automated interface will not allow a refund. So ... User Beware.
You’re BACK!
by Cokeforbreakfast on 2019/02/18 13:36
I am so excited Newton is back! I just hung in there while you were away, putting up with the inability to resubscribe, worrying about security, and now HERE YOU ARE! Thank you for not giving up on this amazing product!
Best Mail App
by Popcornman on 2019/02/18 03:46
Newton is hands down the best app - and I will gladly pay for the incredible superchargers. I was an early adopter when it went from the free CloudMagic app to the paid Newton app, and it didn’t disappoint. When they closed up and didn’t offer the service anymore it was definitely a rough transition to find another app as good as Newton. However, I’m so glad they’re back and immediately renewed my subscription when I saw the app available again. It’s a great app for users with many different inboxes and helps a lot with inbox management. The simple design and layout is perfect for focusing on what’s important. The reason it’s worth the $49 a year - read receipts. It’s a game changing app that will make your email game more efficient.
I don’t write many reviews, but....
by zagszman on 2019/02/16 15:19
This is the single best new email client I’ve used in over 10 years. It has replaced Outlook on iOS for me across 3 devices -my two iPads and my iPhone 8. The Send Later and Read Notifications work flawlessly.. an absolute pleasure to use.
No response
by Jager24 on 2019/02/14 22:04
Paid for the app last June and never received a partial refund as promised. I was excited that it returned but all emails to inquire of my subscription, which is good until June, have gone unanswered. Not going to give another $50 just to have them go under again. BTW...apparently deleting your account as I did when they were closing up shop last year, did nothing as they still have your data.
Finally Back

Superchargers aren’t working and I paid
by jdenman on 2019/02/13 02:35
So long story short, I’ve been a fan and a subscriber ever since day 1. Love this. Even still used it after they shut down for a few months. So since it’s return, I gladly paid again, but my app never shows me as being a paid subscriber and my superchargers are still not working. I’ve emailed support and still no response. Hopefully they can fix this soon. As of right now until this issue is fixed, I cannot in good faith recommend this to anyone.
Updated: WHERES MY REFUND?
by stargirlx12 on 2019/02/13 02:22
Updated 2/12/19 I did love this app and was upset it shut down, however users were emailed a few months prior to the closure we were eligible for a pro-rated refund and that instructions would come shortly. They never came. I followed up a few months ago about it and their answer was “well your subscription would have expired by now anyway so you’re not entitled to a refund.” What a shady company!! I am entitled to a pro-rated refund- I paid for a full year and only got half. How dare you close, take my money and come back. I’m disgusted. It’s a shame because I really liked the interface. And I agree with the other reviewer who was upset they kept our data all this time they were “shut down.” I’m appalled. - I had this whole long review written until it got erased but suffice it to say this is an email app that doesn’t give you anxiety. Considering how much we use email, it’s worth every penny. I’m in love and have a few suggestions: - let us see the whole message on mobile instead of clicking a button - let us add a profile picture instead of the default shadow of some dude’s head - add one SENT folder for all accounts. It takes forever to see my sent messages when I have to go into each email address’ tab Keep up the fabulous work. Being able to see when an email is read is worth the price alone.
Nice but too expensive
by 26ontherun on 2019/02/10 19:05
I really like the app. It’s clean and fast. But the price of $49.99 annually is crazy. There’s nothing that makes it worth that much considering many alternatives are free. On top of that the privacy policy is scary and terrible considering it’s a paid service.
So Excited Newton is back
by [ 365 ] on 2019/02/09 19:12
I absolutely love Newton. From the layout to the supercharger that it comes with. The new integration with OmniFocus, Things and 2Do App is very much appreciate. Overall this app is amazing. The only suggestion I have for the new owners is to make the iPad version the same as the desktop or iPhone version. Right now they feel like two different apps. This is purely stylistic issue. All the functionality is there. I am a paid subscriber again and so excited to have my favorite email client back. Cheers!
Feels like Android
by Radu Dutzan on 2019/02/09 15:59
I’ve been trying out the free trial, and though I have been enjoying having push notifications for my email, I just can’t stomach the app’s design. It looks and feels too Android-y for my taste. I particularly hate the “Archived” Android-style toast that covers the tab bar (!!), but there are so many more details that make the app just feel wrong and ugly. Even the new Gmail app looks better on iOS than this. What I ended up doing is just using the notifications as a prompt to open the default Mail app. And I know that I can get push notifications with other free apps, so there’s just no way I’m paying for this.
Really Glad You’re Back
by zbzack on 2019/02/09 08:06
I’ll keep this short and sweet. I’m really glad Newton is back in action. The email app world wasn’t the same without you.
Why did they keep my data after shutting down?
by Muhammad Omar on 2019/02/08 19:56
This app shut down last year. Now it comes back and all my data is still there. The program still had access to all my email accounts. Shocking!
The Best is Back!
by Fd60140 on 2019/02/08 12:19
I was almost giddy when I saw Newton had returned from the grave. I knew that Newton was perfect for me. I never knew how perfect it was until it was gone and I tried to replace it with another app. Coming back was EASY. I was able to log in with my account info and all my settings were saved! I immediately subscribed again. Take my money Newton but please never leave me again! This is the only app that correctly syncs my outlook, android phone and iPad seamlessly AND integrates Todoist. It keeps my signature perfect which Airmail could not. Welcome back Newton!
Black mode please!
by Kikouyou23 on 2019/02/08 08:12
Great app and user experience. However a black mode would be great!
Best email app BY FAR
by BillyDunn on 2019/02/08 01:58
I’ve tried everything. I even tried paying $30 a month for SuperHuman for a while. I am so glad to see Newton back. It is easily the best email app for iPhone, Mac, and Windows I’ve ever used. Love it! Love it! Love it! I am in IT and a consultant so I get a ton of apps (thousands by now) to try out. Nothing else for email comes close. I also don’t leave a lot of reviews so this is definitely an exception for me.
The Best Email App of All Time
by Das Beans on 2019/02/07 23:02
I am so glad that this thing is back. The time when it was off-line was nothing but a series of disappointing attempts at trying to find a substitute. There just isn’t anything else in the same league.
Best Email App
by TUpike on 2019/02/07 18:55
So happy this one is back, super fast, great UI, and very feature rich. It’s reliable and the read receipts alone makes it worth the money. I’ve tried every email app and Newton is the best, being minimalistic but also having the needed features to set it apart.
Awesome

I wanted Newton come back and it did it!
by Billiarder on 2019/02/07 05:39
Well, when I heard that this app will be shut down I was so disappointed and frustrated! This app is so convenient and I don’t see any alternatives. I told myself that I will continue to use it until they delete me but it did not happen and it was bought by another company which continues to develop it further. Thank you guys for support Newton app! I bought subscription today and promise to do it every year!
The best, but...
by Lucas.scott on 2019/02/07 01:32
It's the best, but for $50 a year plus private funding from Essential, it's time for Apple Watch support.
No longer relevant
by BobYourUncle on 2019/02/07 01:19
Besides the bait and switch from CloudMagic it to a paid service, this mail app needs more to justify the $50/year. Try adding black mode for starters. Don’t just make a comeback without actually doing anything and expect everyone to pay up again.
Best Mail application

I don’t rate many apps. But I’ve been a users of Newton Mail since the launch. By far one of the best.

So happy they’re back!
by Randall_Martin on 2019/02/06 13:13
This is hands-down the best mail app out there. Easily worth the annual subscription! The developers are extremely responsive. Give it a try and you will not be disappointed.
$50? Are you guys nuts?
by Cal Lightman on 2019/02/06 05:18
Why do I have to pay for an app that is practically free everywhere else? This is like highway robbery.
Best mail app on any platform

Newton is absolutely spectacular. User friendly, intuitive, smooth, full featured. Everything a mail app should be.
So glad it's back
by caseypenk on 2019/02/06 00:57
Newton was always my favorite email app so I felt devastated when it went away. I'm delighted it has come back in its original form. Yes, the subscription is expensive. It is also completely worth it given the polish of the UI and UX.
So Glad You’re Back!!!
by feistyprof75 on 2019/02/05 23:39
I am so glad that Newton is back. I kept the app on my phone even after the app was decommissioned late last year, and I’m so glad I did. It is the absolute best email app I have ever used, and nothing else is even close. I subscribed immediately, and here’s to many years of Newton wonderfulness.
Sells your info to Facebook
by Hearthero on 2019/02/05 13:34
I used to love Newton, but when I read the TOS and Privacy policy, they admit to having the option to inject ads and sharing your info with Facebook unless you opt out with an email to a particular address. For a paid service, I expect privacy and no ads. Looks like I can’t go back to using Newton.
No other email app comes close
by ME on 2019/02/05 12:54
I have tried so many others, Outlook, Spark, Polymail, Hop, Astro, Edison and none of them come even close to the feature set, UX and consistency of Newton. I’m so glad they’re back!!
Newton Mail is irreplaceable
by downtowngtown on 2019/02/05 09:59
UPDATE: Thank You Essential and the Newton Mail Team! As soon as I heard Newton Mail was revived, I updated and subscribed! It is totally worth the $49 subscription per year! I tried to find a suitable replacement but nothing else did it. There is no equivalent to Newton Mail. The absolute best for email on multiple devices and for those who travel often. Will Essential keep this app alive? Essential, if you are listening please keep Newton Mail going. Its easily worth the $50 to $60 per year!
Happy to see the app back but..
by AB262 on 2019/02/05 09:48
I was happy to see that Newton decided to make a comeback. When I wrote to them with a request to revive my subscription, I was asked to pay double the price I was previously subscribed for. My subscription rate missed the auto renewal by 4 days as the app wasn’t renewing subscriptions on the App store. I love the email app, wish their customer support could be more considerate towards returning customers!
Previous purchase?
by Priyeshm2 on 2019/02/05 06:12
I can’t thank you enough for bringing this app back to life! I loved using Newton, been using it since it was called CloudMagic. I had paid for a 1 year subscription and later you guys shut down the app. I never got any refund for the balance of my subscription. Do I still need to pay for another year or will my subscription be continued?
Really Back?
by The Earthdog on 2019/02/05 05:21
This was the best and then you left us all hanging for 4 months as you stopped the app. What is the plan for improved pricing and commitment for the future. Many of us have moved to Spark. What’s our incentive to come back?
How can this be listed? They closed last year.

Am I missing something? These people closed in September of last year. How is this in the APP store?
Can’t renew
by neens954 on 2019/01/18 19:26
I’ve subscribed to Newton mail for over two years and now I’m unable to renew. When the subscribe button appears, it is frozen. Last year I paid $50something but now it looks like it’s $9.99/month. That’s a pretty steep increase when it was a free app for the first year. From free to 50 to 120 in only a couple of years. I think I have to find another email app. Especially since it seems to not allow me to renew, anyway. It worked satisfactorily when I had it.

Best E-Mail Client & Support
by Oqwebsolutions.com on 2018/07/27 05:37
I understand many negative reviews are being left by those who think the price is too high for the subscription. I used to be in the same mindset and tried just about every mail app worth trying that was available on the App Store before begrudgingly trying Newton and liking it enough to subscribe. After a little over a year and using the app extensively on my iPhone as well as my Mac I can honestly say this is the best Mail app you can find. Feature rich, simple design, it just works and it works amazingly well. Just research how much it costs for add ons to GMail, for example, for the read receipts or send later functionality. It costs more than the cost of the Newton subscription - and those are just two features. One last thing - Support. I understand you may not always need support, but when you do - I know when I do - it’s sometimes a pain to wait for an answer you need or would like to have right away. Newton’s support is unmatched! I can send an E-Mail at 11PM and get an answer LITERALLY within a 10 minute time frame. This isn’t just a one instance, I’ve emailed on numerous occasions with different questions and have always gotten answers within minutes - no matter the time or day. If your hesitant - Just give it a try. This app is amazing and definitely worth the money. Especially if your an E-Mail power user. Keep up the great work Newton Team - Thank You!!!
Few things I’ve been waiting for over a year to be fixed
by drcjcarr on 2017/11/04 17:25
1) need to have a number somewhere on threads on main page to show how many emails are contained in the conversation 2) need ability to show more text on email notifications to Apple Watch. May be able to do this by reducing font size like outlook does 3) need to be able to show all of a message by default without having to scroll to bottom to request the full email that has been truncated. Really frustrating when you get to the bottom and then have to click that button that sends you to the beginning of a large email when you have already read 3/4 of the email. I thought this was supposed to speed up your email management??? 4) add ability to change text size throughout application so if you want smaller text you can see more emails on main screen 5) Sllllllow to load emails. Have to watch a circus of emails appear and then disappear if I did some work on gmail on the computer. Basically can see every move you made at a different location and can take forever to get caught up if you are a high volume email user
Almost perfect...
by Andy Fuqua on 2018/06/29 18:56
Newton is the best by far on iOS. Two things make it just less than perfect. 1) The search is terrible. When I search by sender, it never pulls up all the messages from that sender. And it doesn't even pull up the most recent messages. It seems to pull in a random collection of emails from that sender, spanning the past few months, but it almost always misses the message I'm looking for. I end up logging into Apple Mail when I need to search for a specific message. I can't figure why Newton wouldn't just pull up a list of all matching messages, starting with the most recent. Seems simple enough. 2) I really wish they gave you the option of split panel view on desktop. The desktop UI is basically the exact same as the iOS app. I understand the desire for simplicity, but with more real estate on the desktop, a split panel view would speed up my workflow a ton. Some email clients give you the option, at least. Other than those two complaints, Newton is by far superior to every other email app available. No contest. In a league of its own.
Good App but Bad pricing model
by B-Rad2020 on 2018/03/22 04:34
This app used to be 100% free, but it makes total sense that they need to charge money to stay in business, provide crucial updates, and introduce new features. I was all set to subscribe until I discovered they were asking $50 per year subscription fee. That was too large a jump for me. So I went with Airmail 3 which had the same set of features and a longer track record of trust. As an early adopter, I felt incredibly burned when a forced update disabled my formerly favorite email tool and suddenly demanded $50 per year. No discount or concession was made to early adopters who helped spread this apps popularity via word of mouth and peer to peer demos. Instead it came across like a “thanks for supporting us for three years and now we’ll flip you the bird.” I guarantee that not a single high rating is from a former Cloud Magic user (the apps former name). Objectively, CloudMagic becoming Newton is a fascinating case study that my friend, ,and PR professor, used often to teach students the principles of cognitive dissonance, brand trust, and “alienation without communication.”
Outstanding simplicity
by cspanring on 2018/03/30 15:31
I believe I fall in the category “have tried them all”, or at least I can say I tried all of the recommend and high rated email apps. For me personally, Newton stands out for its overall simplicity, while offering all the functionality I want from an email app. The UI doesn’t get in your way, the app feels fast, performs well and offers the right amount of customization. Having versions of the same app on iOS, macOS and watchOS was one of the key selling features for me. No matter on what device I am, the experience translates well. Paying $ for a great app like Newton is a no-brainer: I use it every day and I much rather have the app improved over time than a free app that dies a slow death and I have to shop around for a replacement again.
I don’t know about you all but...
by siaka on 2017/12/28 15:26
Asking for $2/month for a service that is not even well integrated? It must be a joke. When I track an email, I want to be able to refer back to a repository that contains all the read email. Simply relying on a notification to let you know an email was read is not what I thought this was about. How about more stats on the number of times an email was open? Nothing revolutionary, and even offered by other free email providers, none of which I will cite here. I would pay zero dollars for this app, because it backs you into a corner without being fully encompassing. You still have to rely on other providers and that’s not what a paying service should be about.
Excellent. Speedy simplicity.
by Ms.Love on 2017/12/03 12:48
I love this application and it’s well worth the $2 a month for the read receipt function alone. Love how messages are truncated, presented, swipe options. Love the speed. Love how clean it looks without ads. Love search function. Emails refresh quickly without draining my iPhone 6s battery. Love the support and company Modus Operandi! My Humble User Feedback Suggestions: 1 - Attachments. Right now you can only attach pictures and iCloud Drive docs when drafting an email within the app. Would be great to attach items from other apps (iBooks, Pinterest, etc) 2 - VIPs. Anyway to have a VIP function, similar to Mail? When I get an email from my boss, client, etc it’s in a special section, despite account. I link 4 email accounts on Nmail. 3 - Organizing. Haven’t figured out the simplest way to select a ton of different emails, and set up an auto filter for where they will go on receipt. I have to go to Gmail, iCloud or Exchange to set up rules which are then reflected in Nmail. Maybe there is a feature but it isn’t yet apparent. All in all, great work and loving it so far. Thanks to an apparent team of hard workers there!
Feature Rich App
by Dr. L. on 2017/11/24 02:41
At first I was reluctant to sign up for a subscription based app, but after using Newton for a short while, I was hooked. Many emails I write require follow up, so knowing when an email has been read is very helpful. That feature alone made the app worth it. I also need to store emails I receive in an organized, uncluttered way. Newton's expandable and collapsible folders allow me to do that. One-click unsubscribe, send later and undo send have also become an indispensable part of my workflow. Using the Share Extension I can even turn emails into to-do items in my task manager app. And all this functionality comes wrapped in an esthetically pleasing and easy-to-interface.
Long time user
by Amaartist on 2017/10/24 22:29
Been with the app for a long time. Back when it was cloud magic. Pretty freakin seamless. I have a multitude of personal and business accounts across platforms and it’s all integrated very smoothly. It’s allowed me to keep consistency and order in an otherwise complicated situation. I also use Evernote and Wunderlist to keep track of almost everything. The ease at which I can archive, share, or add to a list quickly directly from inside the app has really streamlined my relationship with email. Quick delete or spam buttons from the notification has really allowed me to live inbox zero. I never write reviews but these guys deserve it. I give it five stars.
Tried them all ......
by Dmainc on 2018/01/25 07:53
What makes this the best is that it is simple yet powerful. I was using Airmail , which is a good app, but I felt overwhelmed by the all it’s options / features. I was also limited to Mac/IOS. Newton worked flawlessly for me over all of my platforms. Due to nature of my business, I have to utilize windows to remain mainstream at office, but i have all Apple products for home and mobile. Newton allows you to concentrate on what you want to do ( be productive ). You feel dialed in right away.... Is it worth 50$ a year to feel this way? Feeling in control is priceless! Then add the fact they respond quickly ( in minutes sometimes ) is a huge bonus....
Wow! This is the BEST email client
by Phantom27CK on 2017/10/06 20:00
One caution. This is only for serious business people who really value productivity! I’ve tried a lot of email applications. If you are looking for every possible feature and tweak, this is not the app for you. There are not hundreds of bells and whistles. However, the bells this app has are AMAZING. The “remind if not replied” is worth the subscription cost alone. I was paying 3x as much to a different plugin for the same functionality. I wasn’t in love with Newton when I first tried it out. It took a few days before I realized something was different when I checked my email. My whole attitude about email had changed. I’m not sure exactly what it is but I seem to be WAY more productive with email not. It’s not just that the app is beautiful, it’s also that it’s very functional and clean. Now I love to do email. I have many email accounts and Newton handled them all with ease. In addition, I only had to set them up once and they are on all my devices.
Great app so far!!!
by Mike_the_tiger on 2018/05/07 15:59
I have used CloudMagic in the past and recently signed up for Newton. The main thing I like about is that I can use this across all my devices (iPhone, iPad and windows PC). So far the app is working flawless and deliver gmail immediately to my phone; something that Apple native mail app fails to do. I can also customize my signature with HTML. The reason I’m not giving 5 starts is that this is too expensive. I mean $50/year is too much for a email app. I’m going to use this for one year and depending on the performance, I might purchase subscription for another year or will discontinue. Also, all the connected apps that comes with it are useless. I don’t use any of them. So that feature is useless to me.
Still The Best (And worth every penny)
by AustinXXX on 2018/03/24 06:42
You guys pretty much have the perfect email app. And I’ve tried them all. If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would to have the option of have a small circular avatar next to each message in the inbox. Gmail and InBox by Gmail (and Yahoo to a lesser degree) do a nice job of this and it really helps with organization as you can your spot check your messages visually by sender. Like I said…the option would be nice. And if people want to maintain a cleaner more streamlined look WITHOUT the avatar, they could. Regardless…this app is worth every penny. $50 well spent.
Just WOW

I really don't know where to start with Newton. There are so many good features with this email client that I can't list them all. Just the "read ✔️marks" and how it shows the location of the recipient. (the location is only correct 50% of the time) Just that is well worth the subscription price. I can be kind of cheap at times when it comes to subscriptions but I have no regrets with purchasing this client. Keep up the great work and I'm anxious to see what the future of Newton brings. Oh and one more thing. I NEVER write reviews either so that says a lot about how impressed I am.
Best email App - Please don’t discontinue!
by 1925 on 2018/08/11 16:47
I just received a notice that CloudMagic is going to discontinue Newton Mail App. Please don’t! Both my wife and I LOVE this app and from experience know that it is the best one out there! Just one log in and all my settings, accounts, and preferences are all synced and ready to go. I have advanced features not present in any other app. It’s the best email app period. We are subscribers and want to continue to pay so we can have this great service. I hope beyond hope that something will change and we will get to continue having this amazing product.
Great app and excellent customer support
by Dont try it on 2018/01/24 16:37
This app deserves 5 stars and the yearly subscription fees. It is clean and fast and on top of that, it has an excellent customer support. The team behind this app are improving the performance of the app constantly and I believe they deserve all the support from our side. If you want an excellent business mail app then do yourself a favor and download this. It is one of the top mail apps and the only one so far where it allowed me to have my signature as is. This, in addition to some other neat features that are difficult to find in other apps.
Not Built for iOS 11 :(
by Tom10135 on 2017/10/23 15:48
Newton is phenomenal, but I’m disappointed that it doesn’t yet take advantage of iOS 11. There’s no drag and drop for attachments, and in fact the attachment file picker is worse in iOS 11 than it was in iOS 10, because when you tap it, you have to immediately tap a “Browse” icon to get through to the Files interface. Sync also leaves something to be desired. I consistently archive emails on Mac only to see them still lingering in my inbox on iOS, or vice versa. I love Newton, but if you pay this much for an app, you expect it to take full advantage of the new iOS. I would much rather Newton tune the basic experience than continue adding bells and whistles.
Unparalleled design, informative read notifications, simply perfect
by Fluffy Pomeranian on 2018/08/12 03:11
Fell instantly in love with Newton upon downloading nearly 2 years ago. It’s a light email app yet power packed with info and incredibly easy to set up across multiple devices. Should also note that I’ve personally never had any update bugs either! This app feels like it was created for those of us who fancy knowing our email was read, where, and the type of device used to open. The annual subscription has been more than worth it for my employees and I since day one.
Excellent
by Wonderlight2 on 2018/06/25 18:31
Newton is a strong app with excellent customer service. I love being able to snooze emails or delay send as well as have emails from various accounts within the same umbrella. It looks good and works well. I love the way it interfaces with other key apps I use like Todoist and Evernote as well. The annual fee might put some off, but the customer care team ensures anything that might arise is responded to quickly and effectively. I haven’t had to use them much, but when you do have a question or issue, it’s nice to have folks in your corner.
Five Stars all day!
by Deathvvish on 2018/03/07 03:52
I might have written one or two reviews - blah blah blah, but Newton is such an awesome email app, I couldn’t resist. I knew I was going to buy it based on the reviews, but still had to test it. With that, it was even better than I expected. From the simpleness of setting up various home and work accounts, to the easy to navigate and swipe features, and most of all. having all of my folders all integrated within Newton for seamless organization. The read receipts and send later are obviously great too. So glad I stumbled across Newton. Thank you!
The last stop
by The Libra on 2017/10/12 00:49
I have downloaded every email client trying to find one that has the right balance of power and simplicity. I was hesitant to pay the subscription fee until I tried the demo for a couple of weeks. Then was offered a 20% discount and that finally sold me. I use Apple mail from my work and Newton for all my personal mail. This keeps things separate. Over the past six weeks I have come to appreciate how powerful and clean the interface is. If I had to pick one email app to use, this is it!
Sad to have started being a user now that the App is going to be killed.
by Giles Richard Falcon on 2018/08/09 23:06
After years of trying to find an all-round app that is reliable and easy to organise throughout iOS/MacOS and Windows, it is with deep sadness that such a jewel of a service has to stop being offered to the public. I am sorry the long term business plan does not work out, because the product is really really really fantastic (clean, focused and with all the wizardry necessary). Or what it’s worth I shall be using it until the switch goes off. And then I’ll weep.
Cheers!
So close to 5 Star
by Djones22 on 2018/06/15 00:55
There are a lot of really awesome features. My favorites: 1. Send emails later button 2. Remind me if email has not been replied to 3. Snooze button 4. Read receipts and read receipt notifications Things that prevent this-or any other email app I've ever used: 1. No option to add notes to a contact and/or a thread. I deal with hundreds of new contacts every day. Some are returning contacts. It would be SO helpful to be able to jot down some quick notes on the contact. 2. No option to customize notifications. I don't want my phone beeping with EVERY single email. If I could add a contact to a "notification list" that notifies me when only they email, that would be incredible. One other thing mentioning, some of my emails are being sent to the "DOPED" Folder. Can anyone explain to me what that is? Thank you! Overall, great app. A little pricey, but I wouldn't mind paying if the two above issues were addressed. 4 stars.
So far so good.
by Joe6250 on 2018/02/26 15:38
First day, added accounts all went smoothly. Had a question, customer service very, very quickly. It shows that the developers working very hard. Don’t paying 50/yr for good customer service and a simple, well working app. Will update as time goes by. UPDATE: After several months of use, no problems at all. It’s so easy to use. I just open Newton, look to the left and see my 4 email addresses and check which one has mail waiting. What I especially like is that I can go into each account from Newton and check each folder (sent, spam, deleted, etc.) and do what needs to be done (ie, delete spam, delete trash, etc.) I plan on staying with Newton. At the current price (I think $50/yr) it’s well worth it for the convenience, ease of use and peace of mind. The customer service is very quick and great. Richard
Pricey but worth it!
by Dfinnie on 2017/10/24 16:52
I’ve tried a LOT of email clients, looking for an option that balanced usability and aesthetics with key functionality, and Newton is it. Newton connects to both Todoist and Evernote (my productivity suite) with native connections that allow me to add tags, set folders, change due dates, etc., which means that I can touch the email once and then get it where it needs to go. Newton is a great productivity enhancer and I strongly recommend it to anyone who is looking for an integrated, well-layer out email client.
A wonderful, wildly expensive app.
by dr.o on 2018/02/20 03:23
I love the app itself no real complaints on functionality other than not telling me how many emails are stacked in a thread. Price is the real killer. I understand why SaaS is required; a perpetual license simply won’t work anymore if you want a company to keep up with their product. But there are multiple other options that are still a perpetual license and offer 90% of the functionality Newton does. I don’t care Newton is SaaS, I’ll pay an annual fee, but when your annual fee is 3x+ higher than the competitors one time fee it’s a bit unreasonable. It’s unfortunate really because it is a great app and I love using it but the pricing is so absurd it’s almost insulting to users.
Best design out there, would love just a few more features
by clearly751 on 2018/06/07 14:59
Newton is the fastest and best designed email app I’ve used. A few more features would make it perfect. 1) Full screen email view in iPad portrait mode. Currently the email viewing pane is very narrow in portrait mode. 2) Improved rendering of long emails such as newsletters. Currently, long emails get cut off and you have to tap to expand the email and then scroll all the way back down to find your place.
Not a good start
by Computerpreacher on 2018/04/30 17:44
Update. This is a great program. I love it The tech support fixed miss issue even on the weekend. WOW. THE TECH SUPPORT FOR THIS PRODUCT IS AWESOME! My issue is that I tried to use the passcode lock feature on my IPhone X. This caused my issue. The fix was to delete both the Newton Mail and Newton Calendar. Then reinstall. The next update will fix the passcode issues. Until then, do not invoke the passcode on your Newton Mail on your IPhone. The staff was quick to help. They won me over.
Yes, it's expensive, but...
by Matt Maiorana on 2017/09/06 01:53
The cost is worth it - especially for folks who have to deal with a lot of emails for work. Even small gains in efficiency can free up a ton of time. It's worth the cost. I also like to know that the app has a I business model that will allow it to continue existing unlike many of the other boom/bust email management apps out there that are either looking for a quick exit or stop getting updates.
Constant intrusive pop up in free version makes this unusable
by sorchay on 2017/09/03 16:31
[updated review] - my original review was five stars but this latest app update is terrible for non subscribers! I had not purchased yet due to budgetary constraints but was thinking about it regularly. However, the latest update pushes a pop-up at me every second so unless this is changed I will be deleting this app for good. It's too bad. I'm a light user who doesn't use it on desktop or need super chargers but I've appreciated the design and font. You've now made the free version completely unfriendly instead of it being a nice advertisement for your good work.
Not great with Office365
by rateappkirk on 2018/03/02 00:15
I’m a consultant so I use multiple email systems. This app works great with Google and Yahoo but it does a pretty poor job with office 365 email on my phone. I’ve been using Office 365 Outlook and I can delete an email on my computer and it won’t delete on my phone sometimes at all. I can also get emails on my computer and I will go to the app on my phone and it will not update and get those emails. I talked to Support several times and it seems as though there is an issue with sinking with Office 365. Given how pervasive Office 365 is, that’s a big deal.
Excellent productivity tool
by Lichmd on 2017/11/12 16:02
I have multiple work and personal email addresses, each set up to serve a specific purpose. Before using Newton I’d routinely miss an email or lose track of an action item. Now, taking advantage of API integrations into Evernote and Todoist, my workflow has me always inbox zero, with my follow ups and to dos setup for completion. The development team is also very responsive to suggestions or bugs. Well worth the money for a great tool
Sometimes very buggy with sync.
by razacat on 2018/01/08 05:10
Sometimes very buggy with sync especially on exchange/365. Some emails come back when they’ve been snoozed or archived, or sometimes just disappear. I’ve contacted support multiple times and they either try to give an explanation that doesn’t work (or try to blame it on user actions, but it should just not happen) or they answer that they’ll come back to me with a solution but never do. Needs some clear improvement in the back end, especially for that price.

I really want to try this app but $49.00 is way more than I can spend. I have been waiting for an app that could help me tame my beast of an email box. Your app seem like the one but I just can’t spend money frivolously.😟 please make a free version. Completely free. No strings attached. Thank you

What more can I ask for! Great syncing, fast and has awesome read receipts which is something I need. Wish I had more ability to supercharge!

I told myself that I will continue to use it until they delete me but it did not happen and it was bought by another company which continues to develop it further. Thank you guys for support Newton app! I bought subscription today and promise to do it every year!
The best, but...

How can this be listed? They closed last year.

Can’t renew
by neens954 on 2019/01/18 19:26
I’ve subscribed to Newton mail for over two years and now I’m unable to renew.

Better than Mailbox + Evernote integration

Best Email app. Period.
by hhtwaijri on 2018/10/02 21:03
Out of all the email apps out there, this one is the only one that works perfectly. And the options and preferences can be set to my own liking. And that goes for the android app too, I use it there and just love it.

Just WOW
by Johnathan81 on 2017/10/06 04:31
I really don't know where to start with Newton.
I wanted Newton come back and it did it!

Not a good start

I have multiple work and personal email addresses, each set up to serve a specific purpose. Before using Newton I’d routinely miss an email or lose track of an action item. Now, taking advantage of API integrations into Evernote and Todoist, my workflow has me always inbox zero, with my follow ups and to dos setup for completion. The development team is also very responsive to suggestions or bugs. Well worth the money for a great tool
