Roadie Tuner: Guitar Tuner
Description
Designed by musicians for musicians, the app’s beautiful, minimal and intuitive interface allows you to tune almost any string instrument on the go and stay up to date with the latest Roadie upgrades. Explore a wide variety of alternate tunings, create your own custom tunings and consistently get the best sound out of your instrument. With the free tuner you can: - Tune any string instrument on the go including guitar, ukulele, mandolin and banjo. - Choose from a multitude of tunings: standard, open G, open D, Drop D, half step down, D modal and much more. - You can even create and save your own custom tunings! It’s fast, accurate and easy to use: simply pluck the string on your instrument, the app will listen directly from your device’s microphone and guide you visually until you reach the perfect pitch. It’s also the perfect companion for your Roadie Tuner: It serves as a control center for your tuning experience when using any of the Roadie Tuner products (the original Roadie Tuner, Roadie 2 and Roadie Bass). Through the app, you will also receive the latest firmware updates and feature improvements for your Roadie Tuner device. Create and store a profile for each of your instruments (electric, acoustic, classical, 7 and 12-string guitars, ukuleles, bass, mandolins, banjos, etc.) Refine your advanced tuning settings: change the reference pitch, tune with a capo and modify the desired frequency to the cent. Access music news, our latest updates, and tips on how to improve your playing. Create custom instruments such as a dulcimer or a santour or anything else with geared pegs. Turn off and on Roadie’s beep and vibration function depending on your needs. Switch to left handed mode to switch the direction of the Roadie screen. Roadie Tuner makes tuning a breeze. Download the app so you can immediately get to playing. ------------------------------------------------------- Audience Choice Winner - TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2014 Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top 100 Brilliant Companies award for 2014 As seen on Engadget, TechCrunch, IEEE Spectrum, CNET, Guitar Noize, The Next Web, The Wall Street Journal. Best friend on stage

The Rosie is fabulous for alternate tunings on stage. Even change tunings while talking. No need to bring an truck load of guitars, with several tunings now that Roadie is here!

If you have multiple guitars or even multiple stringed instruments, the Roadie 2 is a must. You can tune to a wide variety of tunings even in noisy environments and you can do so quickly and accurately. From regular six strings to 12 strings, acoustic or electric, with capo, standard to drop, open and even custom tunings. I’m telling you, guitarists, you won’t regret this purchase... Also, Roadie stands by their product. I was an early adopter And about a year later I experienced some glitching and Roadie replaced it without question. I’m a fan. You will be too...

If you are lazy and heating isn’t what it used to be ( I’m describing MYSELF!) YOU NEED TO BUY THIS TUNER! I have Snarks and similar laying everywhere, because I also can’t keep up with them!! Hmmm , Aubrey I need to see a Doctor rather than my guitar(s)!! Ha! Seriously this device is SO AWESOME, I wish the Roadie people would pay me because this should be worth something. I’ve played guitar since 12-13 yo, I know how to tune ( well I did) until all these new tunings began showing up, at least new to me. But you set it for what you need, place on the tuner, pluck and watch it work, it takes 1/5 the time I spent with the Snarks ( and they do a great job) and I don’t want to talk about tuning by ear comparison!!! Update 2.6.2 - App still does not work
by JLGTR on 2019/06/12 16:41
Very frustrating. Looks like a joke. So simple features simply do not work at all. It should be a very easy fix. Same issues. No improvements at all. I’ve tried it on 3 different iPads, old and new, old and new iOS as well and nothing. Same issue on my iPhone XS Max. This is my 2d review. The first is from Apr 16. I was asked to talk to the developers. I will do it.

This thing is great, batteries last forever, and it tunes perfectly, easy to switch to that funky tuning and back with this one. Works off vibration so don’t matter if it’s loud as hell still works.

I have the Roadie bass tuner and it is indispensable to me! I am a working live musician along with running my own home studio. I currently have 20+ instruments and I use it to tune every one of them live, and in my studio!
Update
by yakingcat on 2018/12/14 19:28
The company has graciously send me a new Roadie 2. They have been very patient with me and helped me greatly.
It doesn’t tune your guitar in seconds
by Critical Guy on 2018/12/09 05:16
Because there’s a sign in procedure. Because you have to sign in. To tune your guitar. Why is there a sign in to tune your guitar? I paid $100 for this little gadget, that alleges that it’s going to my guitar in seconds. But I hear I am fumbling around with a sign in, and no guitar tuning is happening. And I have to be connected to the Internet to tune my guitar. I guess you could say I’m not satisfied. Because the time it’s taking me to write this entire review, repeating myself all the way, my sign and still hasn’t happened. And my guitar is not tuned. And I feel like somebody owes me $100.
Making its way closer to the trash
by jtothewhawhag on 2018/11/30 10:45
It worked perfect before so why do i need to be forced to create an account for features I don’t need or want. The extra features you say creating an account brings, I don’t need. It should be optional; “get this extra functionality if you create an account.” Update: this developer statement is 100% false and has guaranteed my roadie’s fate: The Roadie Tuner app has always required creating an account.
Roti original
by Sillime on 2018/11/14 20:21
What the hell have you done to my perfectly usable & reliable product? Now it is pretty much useless I’m considering the garbage! I had every thing set up the way I wanted it for my four guitar’s. I do not understand this New app. It makes absolutely no sense to me.
App Crashes
by Matchmee on 2018/10/07 11:38
Sometime after the last update the app will crash immediately after opening on my iPhone 6s. It’s getting really annoying trying to use the app when it constantly crashes. I’d love to recommend the roadie tuner to friends but I can’t get in to the app to refer anyone. I will update my review once these issues are cleared up.
Software ruined great hardware
by Draftdoger on 2018/08/08 01:13
I have the original Roadie. It worked awesome until the software required you to log in with an account. Now it doesn’t work the majority of times I try to use it. Ironically ever since creating an ‘account’ my instruments have not been saved. The screen also glitches when trying to tune and doesn’t even show the option to pluck the strings. Wish the company focused more on the great hardware they had rather than mining the users data.
Brilliant tool!
by Ok64 on 2018/08/02 23:09
I have both a Ukulele and electric Guitar. Tuning these in the standard or any alternative tunes is the simplest thing to do. Fantastic design! I am not related to the Roadi company at all just a very happy user!
New Roadie 2 app
by stroonz58 on 2018/08/01 13:54
I’ve had a Roadie 2 since they were released last year and these things can’t be beat. They work flawlessly, are easy to use and are reliable. The app is amazing and gets better as time goes on. I have 15 guitars and I can list them all, set my favorite default tuning for each one individually and just tune and play. These guys have thought of just about everything. I say almost because they just keep adding features to all the cool things it already does. I highly recommend this product and app simply because the people at Roadie have created a great product and stand behind and keep improving on it. Not like most established companies that come out with a new product, hype it, sell it, support it for a few months and it’s on to the next new thing and forget about the last product. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed!
I use this every time i play guitar
by Fluedbguosyij on 2018/07/28 03:30
I use this mostly for alternate tunings. Also my adapter broke on me but they replaced it for free after a couple of emails. Great customer service. Love this app
Awesome when it works!
by 4theaudienceof1 on 2018/01/05 18:11
This device and the complementary app are absolutely brilliant… However they are also absolutely buggy. My app won’t even locate my Roadie any longer nor show all of the separate tunings I created which took me about 30 minutes to create… I will definitely improve my review and rating once the app makes an improvement but until then I can only give it 2 stars. I’m very optimistic about the future developments and improvements that I hope and believe will be forthcoming.
Waste
by joenapp on 2017/12/24 16:34
Won’t even launch on iPhone X
Still a few bugs but improving.
by Guitar Warlock on 2017/12/16 15:13
Really like the ability of the version 2 device to use it without the app, but the app just makes it so much better. There are still some bugs here and there. It crashed on me twice, once while connecting the roadie 2 through Bluetooth, and again while syncing with the roadie 2 so that my instrument profiles loaded on the app. Aside from that its working pretty good and I'm liking it a lot.
Great Tuner
by nodrogthims on 2017/12/12 08:32
This tuner is a game changer for guitarists especially if you own multiple instruments. It's fast, accurate and a joy to use. Support is also very good. I had a problem with syncing my tuner to the iPhone app and naturally thought it was the device at fault. Roadie support answered my emails almost as fast as I could send them and kept with me until the situation was resolved. It turned out it was my iPhone that was at fault. I can't recommend this device enough.
Works now with Roadie 2
by dowens99 on 2017/12/06 18:28
After the previous update this app now connects to my Roadie and seems to work fine. I'm not sure how to calibrate it anymore, and the tuning isn't completely accurate, but it generally works.
Not SUPPOSED to support Roadie 2 yet!
by CarlosBeltran on 2017/11/28 04:23
I have no connection to the developer, but I just received my Roadie 2 this week from their Kickstarter campaign - as did everyone else who owns one. The dev has clearly stated on Kickstarter that the app will be updated to support the new hardware (which, incidentally, can perform many standalone functions without any app) shortly. I’m glad you use Linux (as if that’s rocket science). Try learning to read English before you bash an app because it cannot connect to a device it is not yet updated to support. If the delay bothers you, complain on Kickstarter instead of trashing an app that you have not used for its currently-intended purpose.
Roadie does not connect
by Noah J. on 2017/11/19 00:57
Follow the instructions, app doesn’t recognize my roadie 2 on my iPhone 8. Support also not helpful. Clearly needs fixing. Also my guitar is less in tune with the roadie than without. Again support says I need the app to address the issue, but I can’t connect it! Super frustrating! Will probably end up deleting the app and returning the device.
Not Roadie 2 Compatible!
by joshuameza1 on 2017/11/13 23:49
I pre ordered the Roadie 2 in order to manage my alternate tunings and it doesn’t even connect to the app. This version is outdated and needs to be fixed. Now I have a Roadie 2 that only let’s me tune in standard tuning.
Just got it. Now I’ll remove
by D'OH!! on 2017/10/13 00:46
This looked like a great app when I saw a friend use it at a jam, so I downloaded it. Now I see I have to set up an account to use it. I’m not interested in syncing instruments on multiple devices. Why would anyone want to do that? I just want to tune my instruments. Oh well. I’m deleting it. I have other perfectly good tuner apps that don’t require an account.
Unfortunate product decision
by STML on 2017/08/26 18:04
Now requires an account or Facebook account link to use, rendering a great product essential useless if I don't want to give my personal details for a product I helped kickstart(x2). Terrible decision. It will probably kill your otherwise good product because you have now wasted $200 of my money.
Terrible change to app - now requires a login to tune my guitar?
by Sledgomatic on 2017/03/31 19:59
I've had a lot of fun with my Roadie Tuner and have recommended it to a lot of people. But now the latest app updates have bricked a piece of equipment I own and is holding it hostage until I either share my Facebook info or create yet another unneccessary, potentially insecure, cloud account. No. I'm done. Roadie is fun and unique, yes. But there are lots of ways to accurately tune a guitar without one. So no more recommendations, no gift purchases, no supporting the next gen Kickstarter, and absolutely no praise on social media. Remove the required login and let me use my Roadie as I have been using it since the day I got it! Then you'll get five stars.
Good Design - Less but better
by SharmaEd on 2017/03/29 22:57
Roadie app concentrates on the design essentials and it gets them right. A very simplistic approach to tuning which is refreshing. I also use it with Roadie tuner (hardware) - a pure guitar tuner that tunes a string with 1-2 plucks. There are minor improvements that can be made to the hardware to ensure that it is long lasting, but I'm very happy with mine. Good things to come.
Requiring Sign in Now
by NamesTakenPleaseChooseAnother on 2017/03/24 19:42
Why do I need an account to use a piece of equipment I bought? I was happy with the tuner before the update, but now I'm frustrated because it suddenly required me to set up an account before I could tune when I was on a time restraint.
Are we hiding negative feedback?
by CoffeyS36 on 2017/03/21 15:59
Forcing me to set up an account to use an which previously did not require it? Should be opt-in, noit strong-arm. I put in bogus info so you didn't get your hooks in my personal Facebook data (your real goal). Plus as a bonus, the new version crashing every two minutes. You guys are geniuses (not). Way to turn fans into disgruntled customers. I used to be an ambassador for your product, now I will loudly and widely do my best to steer people away. My negative review (and others) on the current version was posted to the cluttered previous versions page and not shown on the current version reviews. I feel it's relatively (on-purpose?) "hidden" WTH???
What happened here?
by Hgshhjyfgefhu on 2017/03/20 23:02
Why do I suddenly need a facebook or other account to use this tuner?
Intrusive update
by RocknCoder on 2017/03/16 20:22
I bought the roadie while it was on Kickstarter, the project I ever backed. Today I got an update that I absolutely hate. I now must sign in to be able to use the product. Why? Everyday I get about 70 emails but less that 5 are actually from family, friends, or colleagues. The other 65 are time wasting solicitations. Now band industry wishes to join them. I understand some people wish to be able to tune on any iOS device. That's fine those people who want that feature should be able to sign in. I on the other hand would like to use the product as I always have without sign in.
No iPad version
by Moneypuppet on 2017/01/07 17:38
I have this on my phone And it works fine I have a huge problem with it not being available on the iPad. Just an incredibly dumb oversight. Quit being stupid and put it on the iPad
Thoroughly impressed!
by RaimundColon on 2016/12/26 04:11
I've just finished tuning my nylon string acoustic guitar with the device for which this app was made. I enjoyed watching the gadget so it's thing. I don't think I've ever gotten a better, richer sound from this guitar before! The notes resonate beautifully now. I'm very happy. I haven't yet tried it on my solid body electric guitars. The device comes with a cable with which you can plug your guitar directly into the iPhone. Looking forward to trying it.
Great App + Tuner except 1 thing
by josuewithdds on 2016/09/16 22:15
Why does the app not natively support the 5.5" resolution? The iPhone 6 Plus first introduced this screen size nearly 2 years ago. I'll update to five stars when the app + keyboard isn't zoomed and scaled, dominating my screen space unnecessarily
Amazing Product
by iPr1ncess on 2016/05/09 14:03
My guitar and Roadie are officially in a relationship. Super intuitive design, great ergonomics with such ease and simplicity to use. Ui/ux is super cool and simple to go about the app. Where have this product been hiding all my life?
One HUGE problem.
by JobForACowboy... on 2015/11/14 03:23
I just got this thing I loved it since I saw it online. But this thing can't go below A1? What kind of guitar tuner doesn't go below A1(Drop A). My 8 string is tuned to DGDGCEAD and I can't tune the first two strings. Kinda defeats the purpose of using it if i have to use a tuner anyway. Please update!!!!!!! :)
Needs an iPad app
by IAgreeWithJoey on 2015/03/25 00:11
Some of us would really love to use this natively on our iPads.
Utter Garbage. Stay far away.
by oddnonymous on 2015/03/10 22:05
This is has to be the worst app/product I have ever used. Not only does "silent tuning" not work on an electric guitar, which is why I bought this is thing, but it cannot hear anything below the G3. Great. I have 3 strings in tune. Haven't used it for more than 30min and it broke my high E string. Piece of trash I will promptly be returning. I guess you gamble sometimes when you buy from a kickstarter funded project.
Nice design but crashes constantly
by MiracleWhipkey on 2015/03/07 15:30
Just trying to calibrate and the app freezes up 4 or 5 times - closing down and reopening each time - before I can get it to calibrate one string. Then repeat that again on the next string.
Perfect
by eingy on 2014/10/05 06:42
Worked perfectly and easily within 3 minutes of taking it out of the packaging. Am totally blown away.
Convenient app - amazing hardware
by Brian Nichols on 2014/09/13 17:40
The roadie app is great for manually tuning a guitar, but it's amazing when used with the roadie hand robot... Which tunes the strings far more accurately and quickly than a human ear can. Fantastic gadget!
Was awesome until last update
by MICMIX MUSICK on 2014/09/11 20:52
You guys seriously screwed up this app. Do you really expect me to buy a Bluetooth to use this? The previous version was better, because it didn't need Bluetooth and it was accurate. Now? I can't even use it. Thanks for nothing, guys.

So beautiful and effective. I love the minimalism but it would be nice if you add a swipe right menu (or something like that) with tutorial, developer or some features. Its kind terrifing being not able to control anything in the app with the fingers. Really nice job man

I can't recommend this device enough.
Still a few bugs but improving.
by Guitar Warlock on 2017/12/16 15:13
Really like the ability of the version 2 device to use it without the app, but the app just makes it so much better. There are still some bugs here and there. It crashed on me twice, once while connecting the roadie 2 through Bluetooth, and again while syncing with the roadie 2 so that my instrument profiles loaded on the app. Aside from that its working pretty good and I'm liking it a lot.
Awesome
by Trolerio on 2014/02/01 14:53
So beautiful and effective. I love the minimalism but it would be nice if you add a swipe right menu (or something like that) with tutorial, developer or some features. Its kind terrifing being not able to control anything in the app with the fingers. Really nice job man
Best tuner out there, beautiful design.
by Thinkbiz on 2013/09/27 07:57
This is the best and most accurate tuner app that I know of. In fact just speak while it's on and it instantly tells you the note of your voice inflection. Fast, beautiful, and easy to use.
Making its way closer to the trash
by jtothewhawhag on 2018/11/30 10:45
It worked perfect before so why do i need to be forced to create an account for features I don’t need or want. The extra features you say creating an account brings, I don’t need. It should be optional; “get this extra functionality if you create an account.” Update: this developer statement is 100% false and has guaranteed my roadie’s fate: The Roadie Tuner app has always required creating an account.
Works now with Roadie 2
by dowens99 on 2017/12/06 18:28
After the previous update this app now connects to my Roadie and seems to work fine. I'm not sure how to calibrate it anymore, and the tuning isn't completely accurate, but it generally works.
I use this every time i play guitar
by Fluedbguosyij on 2018/07/28 03:30
I use this mostly for alternate tunings. Also my adapter broke on me but they replaced it for free after a couple of emails. Great customer service. Love this app
Brilliant tool!
by Ok64 on 2018/08/02 23:09
I have both a Ukulele and electric Guitar. Tuning these in the standard or any alternative tunes is the simplest thing to do. Fantastic design! I am not related to the Roadi company at all just a very happy user!
Perfect

Worked perfectly and easily within 3 minutes of taking it out of the packaging. Am totally blown away.
Convenient app - amazing hardware
by Brian Nichols on 2014/09/13 17:40
The roadie app is great for manually tuning a guitar, but it's amazing when used with the roadie hand robot... Which tunes the strings far more accurately and quickly than a human ear can. Fantastic gadget!
Update

The company has graciously send me a new Roadie 2. They have been very patient with me and helped me greatly.
App Crashes
by Matchmee on 2018/10/07 11:38
Sometime after the last update the app will crash immediately after opening on my iPhone 6s. It’s getting really annoying trying to use the app when it constantly crashes. I’d love to recommend the roadie tuner to friends but I can’t get in to the app to refer anyone. I will update my review once these issues are cleared up.
Great tuner
by Esztero on 2013/10/11 14:24
Simple and fun app. I am new to playing, rewarding to being able to tune quickly. Pretty GUI!
Nice design but crashes constantly
by MiracleWhipkey on 2015/03/07 15:30
Just trying to calibrate and the app freezes up 4 or 5 times - closing down and reopening each time - before I can get it to calibrate one string. Then repeat that again on the next string.
Best tuner on the AppStore
by Lord Jub Jub on 2014/04/01 01:03
This tuner works great. Not only does it serve it's function, it does it with a great minimalistic design. Great job to the developers!

Simple
by designcorey on 2014/01/28 08:19
The app is beautifully designed and works great! I love the minimalism.
No iPad version
by Moneypuppet on 2017/01/07 17:38
I have this on my phone And it works fine I have a huge problem with it not being available on the iPad. Just an incredibly dumb oversight. Quit being stupid and put it on the iPad

As seen on Kickstarter!
Best friend on stage
by Bluzguy52 on 2019/08/05 17:19
The Rosie is fabulous for alternate tunings on stage. Even change tunings while talking. No need to bring an truck load of guitars, with several tunings now that Roadie is here!
Best tool in your gig bag
by Dallas drone flyer on 2019/07/28 15:37
If you have multiple guitars or even multiple stringed instruments, the Roadie 2 is a must.
Best ever

Roadie2 auto tuner
by JohnHughes on 2019/06/29 17:45
If you are lazy and heating isn’t what it used to be ( I’m describing MYSELF!) YOU NEED TO BUY THIS TUNER! If you are anywhere near my condition, make room for this jewel in your budget, you will not regret it! Oh and the other similar product on market couldn’t stand up to Roadie the Road Rumner! Be glad to speak with anyone considering Vince Hughes vhpharmer@ Gmail. Com
It’s pretty good
by T.Lackey on 2019/06/21 01:42

Update 2.6.2 - App still does not work
by JLGTR on 2019/06/12 16:41
Very frustrating. Looks like a joke. So simple features simply do not work at all. It should be a very easy fix. Same issues. No improvements at all. I’ve tried it on 3 different iPads, old and new, old and new iOS as well and nothing. Same issue on my iPhone XS Max. This is my 2d review. The first is from Apr 16. I was asked to talk to the developers. I will do it.

Great Tuner
by nodrogthims on 2017/12/12 08:32
This tuner is a game changer for guitarists especially if you own multiple instruments.

I also use it with Roadie tuner (hardware) - a pure guitar tuner that tunes a string with 1-2 plucks. There are minor improvements that can be made to the hardware to ensure that it is long lasting, but I'm very happy with mine. Good things to come.

Great. I have 3 strings in tune. Haven't used it for more than 30min and it broke my high E string. Piece of trash I will promptly be returning. Roadie2 auto tuner
by JohnHughes on 2019/06/29 17:45
If you are lazy and heating isn’t what it used to be ( I’m describing MYSELF!) YOU NEED TO BUY THIS TUNER! If you are anywhere near my condition, make room for this jewel in your budget, you will not regret it! Oh and the other similar product on market couldn’t stand up to Roadie the Road Rumner! Be glad to speak with anyone considering Vince Hughes vhpharmer@ Gmail. Com
Best tool in your gig bag
by Dallas drone flyer on 2019/07/28 15:37
If you have multiple guitars or even multiple stringed instruments, the Roadie 2 is a must.

Great Tuner
by nodrogthims on 2017/12/12 08:32
This tuner is a game changer for guitarists especially if you own multiple instruments.
