This may be the best app for self-setting alternate routes from point a to point b.
The best route planning tool for iOS!
by Rambler358 on 2019/05/20 06:19
A slight learning curve but all nav apps I tried have some learning curve. I tried MyRoute-App, but this is much more flexible IMO. If you need a route planning app - this is the one to get! A couple enhancement wishes for the developer: - add a desktop or Mac app version. - add Apple CarPlay support. There's 2 additions would make inRoute unbeatable - thanks for a great app!
Great Route Planning Tool
by R-Duke on 2019/05/16 12:18
I started using inRoute a year ago when I routed and rode a motorcycle on a 17 day, 6,000 mile ride. At the time I purchased the lower pin drop app (25), which was enough. Now, I upgraded my purchase to give me 150 pin drops, because I’m planning two rides. I’ve got both loaded and ready to go, complete with gas, lunch and hotel stops. The first trip is a 5,200 mile ride and later this year a 6,200 mile ride. There was a glitch in finding gas stations and hotels along the route two weeks ago. Rob with customer service (via email) was very prompt to reply and discovered it was an Apple issue with Apple Maps, which I guess is the base of what inRoute is built on. Rob stayed with it, stayed in communication and offered suggestions while we were waiting for Apple to fix their problem, which they finally did. Thanks Rob for staying with it and for your very prompt attention and replies, even late at night. Bottomline, I highly recommend the inRoute app.
Wanted to Like the App
by JoJoP40 on 2019/05/16 02:06
I was very excited, purchased the upgrades and started planning routes for great surface roads that add various amounts of time to dinner trip drives. The fun curvy roads are well worth the 10 min to 1/2 hour longer trip time rather than sitting on the expressways. However, the app locks up and tells me to go X number of feet to the starting point. The screen locks and the only way to correct it is to double tap the home button and swiping the app closed. I tried reopening and restarting but it keeps locking. After 3 tries I quit and just hit the pointer icon to center the map on me. I followed my plot manually but the app really isn’t working. It too difficult for use to make good use of curvy roads in a fun vehicle. Sharing with Waze worked great for the 1st segment, but then it stoped and wanted to reroute me BACK to waypoint 1. I think it needed an ok somehow to load the second waypoint. Something flashed on the screen but it was gone too quickly to know what it said. On curvy fun roads I don’t have time to babysit the app. It needs to keep up. Maybe there’s a way to have it advance without a user prompt ? That should be the default if there is... It looks good, planning is good, I can move routes between devices easily. But once in the car, on twisty roads, it crashes... Too bad... I wanted to really like this app. Edit: Thanks for the reply. I started the app both before I was on the route and while driving along the start of the route. So both before the start point and then before waypoint 1... sometimes it starts. It has locked up several times. Most importantly it locks when I was in the fun car were I don’t have time or room to keep looking away from the road long enough to figure out what’s happening. It says go X feet to start... and I am already past that point and on the exact route planned. The screen locks. Only swiping it closed allows any access. I have no idea what flashed when I shared the route with Waze. But after waypoint 1 Waze kept trying to take me back to that waypoint. I want to like this. But it needs to be invisible other than giving me route instructions. Seems it works for others. I’d like to use it.
Saved my job
by Duoh Tlas on 2019/05/03 11:54
I started working a paper route, but i have a naturally TERRIBLE sense of direction - especially in the pitch black of early mornings. This app is incredible. It has better accuracy than google maps, and barely takes up any data. It gives clear and concise directions, and the voice repeats exactly what you name the waypoints which is vital for me especially. This app has saved me incredible amounts of stress and pretty much saved my job. I don’t know what i’d do without it.

A great app for my work
by spraytech72 on 2019/04/16 12:24
Having the ability to plot so many stops and have them routed efficiently is a tremendous help and time saver. Make sure you turn off the optimization because it will change things up as you go.
Wonderful Route Planning App
by The Rogue Ninja on 2019/04/14 19:37
I’ve tried many route planning apps over the years and inRoute is by far the best I’ve experienced - I say this after using it for about 10 miles. It’s simple to use, it’s never once crashed or frozen on me while I’m riding, and it’s completely hands-free during navigation. If you’re looking for a full featured, intuitive app to plan your two-wheeled adventures, this is it.
Worthless App

Family Sharing, not quite
by Josh_KY on 2019/04/07 19:46
App says it supports family sharing but it does not. You are forced to purchase for every family member. False advertising. To add additional comments in response to the developer comments (which are appreciated): 1. Without going into detail, if you wanted to allow for sharing of the paid version, there are many technical solutions to be able to do this. 2. If you never had intention to allow sharing of paid benefits, might I suggest you remove the “Family Sharing” compatibility from your “free” app, unless the goal is to cause confusion amongst consumers.
Yes! Exactly what I was looking for.
by MikeNick33 on 2019/04/07 13:50
I have tried a two different routing apps in the past and I have to say this one has all of the features I was looking for. I was specifically looking for an app with the ability to move onto the next waypoint without any user interaction and this does just that. Working for a large parcel company, this app really comes in handy and maximizes efficiency on the road. It lets you know the distance to your next stop, as well as total distance to your ending stop-which is really great for planning your day. The price you pay for the features you get is beyond worth it.
Extremely confusing interface
by iphonereviewer#2 on 2019/04/04 21:21
I can add waypoints and plan my route in advance, but the app is horrendous when it comes to implementing the route on a trip. The UI is terrible, it's not easy to use. I really want to find something better.
Absolutely fantastic app, one key feature missing
by DemoMonkey on 2019/04/04 20:23
I do a lot of overseas motorcycle trips and I plan all my routes via inRoute. I spend weeks planning the perfect routes. I’m looking for scenic curvy routes all over the mountains and the app allows me to see elevation changes and curviness of the route while I’m planning. I also take photos during my rides and I want to be at specific locations on my ride during sunrise/sunset and the app shows me sun up/down along my route and where I’ll be when it happens. While I’m on my ride, I check this app all the time to determine weather conditions along my ride. Incredible! This app rocks!!! The one essential feature that I need that has caused me issues during route planning is the inability to set the time zone for start-times of my routes. I always have to do mental Olympics while planning my route to determine what time local is the desired time at my route start point halfway across the world. To complicate things further I travel every week and so my local time zone changes during my route planning sessions and it screws up my start-time offsets for my route location start. Having the ability to set timezone, or even better, automatically determining timezone based off the location of the route start point would be fantastic. I really really want to give this app 5 stars but can’t without this critical timezone feature.
Worth every cent
by JulesSueAndersonCampbell on 2019/04/04 01:13
I have RVed for a decade and use this app more than any other app for planning my trips. It is completely useful, the learning curve is not that difficult, and if you pay for it, your can use it as your map while traveling. You can’t go wrong with this app, trust me, as it has really given me confidence to plan longer and more complicated trips. I know before hand, elevation ascents, curviness of roads, and the projected weather. Do yourself a favor and get it, use it, and enjoy the open road.

Excellent for RV’ers
by TracieFromPahrump on 2019/03/21 15:48
This app is excellent for RV’ers! Being able to see the elevation changes and the amount of “curviness” along the route is a game changer in route planning!
Wonderful App but....
by KB3POA on 2019/03/03 23:19
I love this app. My husband loves that you can pick a curvy route for when he is on his motorcycle. My only but is I want an RV (recreational vehicle) option. We spend a lot of time traveling with our RV and to be able to put the night of our rig in a trip planner and have it route avoiding low bridges and roads RV are band on would be great.
Excellent!
by Taylorncbelews on 2019/02/25 03:46
I was having a terrible time trying to find a mapping app that would allow me to request routes avoiding highways and this was exactly what I wanted! Very pleased!
Love it and it drives me crazy!
by hominid on 2019/02/23 17:01
This app is so awesome once you figure it out. Clutzy & confusing interface, but super powerful when you get past it. Haven’t used it for maybe a year, but when I needed it this week, omg, it was even more confusing! Yo folks who build this, great job with the underside, but the UI is a hot mess. So for buyers out there - it does everything it says it does. Would never do a road trip without it. Excellent functionality. But .... the user experience is often baffling, menus and hidden options can drive you to agony trying to repeat something you had done a few moments earlier. Deserves 10 out of 5 stars ⭐️. Only mark it down because of the frequent aggravation. Once you’re a pro @ it, everyone else seems like an idiot ....
A Few Suggestions
by Zeppo57 on 2019/02/22 16:12
I love the app, it’s amazing! But could you add a speed limit indicator on screen? Also, could you add a way for me to put in my car’s current mileage and then show what it will be at the end of my trip? Thank you!

Only app that I found that can import GPX files.
InRoute
by gpberg on 2019/02/21 21:54
Can’t add multiple routes. Layover timing only in 5 minute increments. Otherwise a great app. Stores route info on device so you don’t get lost when out of cell data range. Editable waypoint names. Saves your map in a bookmark folder
Enables YOU to force the route YOU want to drive
by MidwestUSA Indy on 2019/02/14 17:50
I have used the Pro version now for three years. Like everything, it takes some getting used to in order to learn how to use it efficiently. I use it to drop pins along a particular route of my choosing as opposed to using other apps which automatically generate routes for you based on travel time or whatever considerations those other apps use. Once the route is planned by you, the app will give you audio directions (as well as a visual map). So, you can enjoy your drive while getting verbal directions to keep you on the route you planned and wanted to take in order to see whatever you want to see or drive whatever roads you chose. I find it is helpful to drop pins directly onto the map side of the road which you are planning to drive along as if you are “running over“ those pins along the route as you drive the route. I have also learned it can be helpful to place “extra“ pins around road intersections if you want to be sure you take an exact route because this takes away the app’s ability to choose particular routes/turns between any 2 pins you have dropped. The app works fine with iTunes playing and Waze running simultaneously. Happy motoring!
Awesome, needs a few tweaks!
by jpstez on 2019/02/03 18:03
Once you get the hang of how the routing works, you can build custom, turn by turn routes. Five stars if it were CarPlay Compatable!!
Can’t use app on multiple iOS devices
by Ravio hat on 2019/01/26 19:30
Warning to potential buyers: iCloud shared purchases DO NOT work for in-app purchases, like the premium version of this app. That means in order to use it on other devices, you have to pay for it ($15 btw) for EACH device individually. This is a rigged set up designed to screw you out of your Apple family plan.
App is too difficult to learn to use
by Flynoy69k on 2019/01/20 16:33
App is too difficult to learn to use, and the draw feature malfunctioned, refusing to disengage. Once that happened, the app was useless. Could not manipulate waypoints, pins or any other functions. Plus the help menu was totally inadequate and virtually useless.
BEWARE... Horrible App, No response from the developer
by DMSK7777 on 2019/01/16 06:22
This app did not do what the premium version stated. I bought the premium service with a 7 day trial. On day 3 they charged me, even though I asked them to cancel before doing so. Working with Apple support to take care of this issue. BEWARE!

Just about perfect
by PaMotorcycle Tours on 2018/12/16 17:03
This App is perfect for motorcycle touring enthusiasts who want to easily plan routes, ride them and share them. It would be 100% perfect if you could build routes on a desktop using InRoute.
Almost perfect.
by anonpilotdriver on 2018/12/10 14:12
I'm a pilot car driver, and I love that it let's me pinpoint custom routes, but the one flaw that makes it a pain is there isn't exit numbers. So I end up going back and forth from this app to Google maps. If there is anyway to add in the exit numbers on this app, it would make things so much easier. 😓

Hard to use
by graeagle on 2018/11/14 03:39

Best trip planning app. I have spent $60 testing others.
by Dave & Demi on 2018/10/29 16:59
Best route planning app ever. Every new release blows me away with features. I'm a road captain for a motorcycle group. I plan multi stop trips all the time. We like to take back roads. I used to use streets and trips before it was discontinued. I'd been looking for something for my iPhone. tried every navigation app. Spent over $60 on them. This is simple and easy to use In minutes I create routes for group rides. These are not straightforward. They are confusing back road routes. The fact that they list gas stations places of interest and restaurants is tremendous help in planning our rides. Support responded to a question I had in less than five minutes. The gps feature is responsive and accurate. The more I use this the better it gets Freaking amazing
Looks useful but a subscription for a map app is pushing it
by Turbotj on 2018/10/19 06:35
I am more than happy to pay for apps and support the developers. However, a monthly subscription (that’s half as much as my streaming service) is a little ridiculous. I would love to pay a one time fee though. From what I can tell without buying anything, the app looks very professionally developed.
Best Trip Planner

InRoute the most practical tool
by Revitup1961 on 2018/09/18 12:34
I work for the Feds and require up to 50 destinations and 3 routes per month. I LOVE this app because it’s cheap and has all the things I need to set up my clients. Notes, instant access to all the details of a visit, options for waypoints or just to keep it on the map outside of a route. It has proven to be accurate for its optimization and who knew it would show Lat and Long...something I’m required to confirm! Thanks for a tool that makes my job immensely easier.
Love it!
by BJ FROM ID on 2018/09/16 17:25
I am somewhat limited on my computer use, so I like simple apps that do not require a lot of time to learn but do what I need them to do. This is the easiest app for road trips or walking routes that I have found. User friendly. Thank you.
The very best I have found for motorcycle routing
by Photomcc on 2018/09/14 13:36
This app is the best I have found routing to a specific address. The ability to enter an address and have it drop a pin on the route is priceless. Makes planning so much easier. Planning a bucket list trip to Sturgis 2019 for a small group, some camping and some in hotels. This app and google are the only tools I have needed, besides the phone to call, to get accommodations for both groups Following the route on the map I have found hotels along the way, googled those hotels, entered address for those in the search bar of the app and it has dropped a pin on that address. Same procedure for camp grounds, searching for campgrounds around hotels on google, entering that address and dropping a pin. Also from google you can get the phone number to make reservations. Information on tags for all pins can be changed to say anything you wish.
Needs work
by backley111 on 2018/09/07 11:28
The maps get me often close and sometimes lost, would be better if they used google maps data. This program has left me at road closures and bridges that were out.
Useless for circular routes
by 473jj473 on 2018/09/06 21:08
This app will not let you manually place pins; instead you input addresses to set destinations. This makes it useless for my purpose of setting a circular scenic route (i.e. starting from and finishing at your home without stopping at any particular address.)
Would be great if I could flat-out purchase.
by matt the hobbit on 2018/09/05 07:35
I played with this app for the 7 day trial. It has features I would love to use. But the subscription pricing is more than the amount I would use the app. Would shell out a flat $60 for lifetime access. Subscription for daily use does not suit me, and that’s unfortunate because it seems like I would occasionally use a navigation app with these features. 4 stars for features but 2 stars for price structure
Subscription
by rip,off on 2018/09/03 22:41
Had no idea it was set to auto renew, it just billed me 29.99 and I can’t get my money back. Don’t want the App! Would give 0 stars if possible!

I love this app as I can map out my deliveries for the day and even if I lose signal, I still have my route. Only thing is, I can’t reorder on the fly. That would make it a 5-Star app.
If u do deliveries on apple, THIS IS YOUR APP
by BullitBaby on 2018/08/28 08:03
I know a lot of folks evaluate this app for road trips and site seeing etc. But I've tried ALL the route planning apps for apple FROM A DELIVERY PERSON PERSPECTIVE, this one is UNMATCHED. --Entering a daily list of stops is soooo EASY. It THINKS about where you are and suggests addresses within your region first rather than someplace in Timbuktu hours and hours away. 90% of time I enter an address halfway and it's already suggested it due to this VERY SMART algorithm. --The routes it plans are optimized to use MAJOR streets and are VERY intelligent. A mortal flaw of other apps is they drag you through neighborhoods with tons of stop signs and lots of useless turns. All cities are set up with certain mjaor roads and streets with few stops and this app uses those to your advantage every time. --This app keeps it's maps quite current, I've only once had the app try and drive me thru a ball field rather than around it. --this turn by turn verbal instructions are accurate and I've no need To use Google maps or other rather than the built in turn by turn. On extra plus is how LARGE the turn by turn verbal instructions are accompanied by visual instructions on the screen, if your using an iPad, it's SO JUCH easier to glance over and read what's going on while also hearing it. Google maps could learn a thing or two from this app by making the turn instructions larger. We ARE DRIVING after all, trying to read small print and drive safe don't mix. --you can get a good rough estimate of time needed for a route by putting in time spent at each stop and it adds that into drive time to give you a more accurate start and end time for the route. --it so easy to call up old routes, add an extra stop, it automatically reoptimizes the route. Saving and opening old routes couldn't be easier and it will automatically store them in the cloud if you want. --you can easily rearrange the order of stops by just dragging them into a new order and the map reoptimizes. --the built in help system will guide u through most any further questions. Well that's enuf about the app. The last bit of news is if you read these reviews is the app is the app is ACTIVELY supported by the developer. A scourge we all know TOO WELL is an app written and then the developer ignores ANY requests for help and vanishes into cyberspace. Not so here....your questions will be answered in a timely manner by the developer. Plenty of reviews back this claim up. If you deliver routes daily, simply put YOU NEED LOOK NO FURTHER, this is the app you should be using on Apple products.
Limitedly Useful for the Cost

I purchased the enhanced version several months ago to plan a trip around New England. I initially downloaded and purchased the app on my iPad Pro and couldn’t figure out how to sync to my iPhone. I contacted the web developer via email through the website listed below and within about 10 minutes I received the info I needed. Now that’s customer service AND a quality app. Well worth the purchase. Easy for even me to create trips and save them. Thanks!

I tried this app last Wednesday for a day of checking out antique/flea markets in an unfamiliar part of the state. It completely misdirected for one location and was not easily adjusted when we decided to reorder where we wanted to go. However, the driving directions and voice commands were very nice. Pretty decent app

I just used this for the first time for one of my routes. It did a decent job but lost the voice navigation halfway through which was highly disappointing. Also, the “destination order” was not that in intuitive but very linear so you need to decide where you would like to visit when there are neighboring sites within a handful of miles. Overall there are 3 stars but I would give it 10 if they would ensure the speech navigation is always working as well as post the current names of the input destinations as well as post the mph, traffic, hazards, posted police, etc... (like some of the other popular apps). I still recommend this app as I have not found another one yet that will populate a map of multiple stops.
Way too expensive for what you get
by LK526 on 2018/07/05 18:53
Forgot to cancel before the trial period ended, so I paid $30 for an app I literally never used. I was looking for something that would alert me to low bridges or sharp turns that RVs can’t make, but this app doesn’t include any of that stuff, only info that is mildly interesting but unhelpful.
Best Road Trip Planning App and if ...

Love this app. Perfect for our route plans on the Harley. And if it kept your points of interest no matter how you started a route, that would make it even better
Best routing app so far
by dean3 on 2018/06/22 11:00
This app is great for creating routes. It lacks some when you try to use it as a GPS. It can’t seem to hold location when you run out of cell service. It would also be nice to be able to search for things along your route like gas, hotels etc. The gpx import / export is the best feature of this app. You are able to create a route, export it to Dropbox, and the load it into a stand alone gps.

My app is not working!!! As soon as I click on the app it pops up and then blacks out. I am a pilot car driver and this app is the best but I need it fixed ( like yesterday) Please fix this ASAP.. Thank you
Update ruined the app

Ever since my app received the most recent update it won't open. I've used this app for years and pay monthly. I would love to delete/change my review if the problem is corrected. I use this for app for work and it is causing me a great deal of inconvenience with it not working.
Warning!!!

Though this app is nice and works well. You may sign up for this app then forget about it then come to realize that is has been charging you a renewal fee. Keep a close eye and be warned.
Good but needs more features
by mhartley93 on 2018/06/18 07:52
I like using this app to make deliveries but wish there was an option to prioritize stops by entering a time by which they need to be delivered. Also wish there was some way to add a certain amount of time each stop should take to have a more accurate representation of the time of arrival after all stops are made. I have now been using this application for about 6 months time and decided to give it a 4 star rating as opposed to my 3 star rating prior. It works quite well for my job as a delivery driver, sometimes it crashes like any application but it gets me through the work day nonetheless. I would recommend to others if you're looking for a route planner that gives you a fairly accurate timeframe between stops and very accurate directions.

I downloaded this app because it sounds great. The info on the app states that some features are free. What they don’t say is the free feature is everything and what you have to pay for is the ability to start the app. Nothing is free for this app but the download.
Top Motorcycle routing app
by RO33K on 2018/06/04 18:07
I love this app, I have tried so many other apps for planning and turn by turn directions and they all fall short. I love that I can easily share the route with other users. The only improvement I would love to see is an option to avoid gravel/unsaved roads
Awesome Customer Service
by CBaines on 2018/05/29 16:58
I haven’t had a whole lot of time to use the app. I have planned a nearly 1500 mile trip, twice, but haven’t driven it yet. It seems like a great app, so many features. (I bought the one time upgrade) To me though, the most impressive thing is that I had a question about how to do something and could not find the answer in the FAQ, so I emailed. I RECEIVED AN ANSWER WITHIN TWO MINUTES!! If you are looking for an app to plan your trips, you need to check this out!
Life Saver
by BMWridere on 2018/05/27 15:03
I will keep it simple, this is a dream app for motorcycle riders. I took a 1,800 miles 5 day ride between the Grand Canyon, Death Valley and Pacific Highway .. it would have been a mess without this app. You can plan and save multiple routes, gives you weather updates and other great information. Last but not least, if you choose to, it will take you through some unbelievable back roads! All around best touring app period!
Great, but one thing is really bad
by RetFoosh on 2018/05/22 12:57
Awesome app. Love its ability to plan my vacation road trip across the country. There is just one thing that really really stinks about the app - you have to access your waypoints in three different ways in order to use this app, and switching between the 3 views really really really gets annoying and cumbersome. Here’s what I mean: 1. The map view. You use the map view to add a waypoint, either by manually dropping one (a feature unintuitively tucked away under the “info” icon), or by searching for your destination. You can conveniently search for “library in Waco TX” to add all the city’s libraries at once, which is very helpful. You also have to use the map view to delete a waypoint, which is super tedious when you are in one of the two list views and you have to go back to map view, find the waypoint on the map, zoom in enough to select it and not a nearby waypoint, and open up the waypoint to delete it. This is also the only way to rename a Way point. 2. There is an icon at the left top of the screen that looks like two street signs. This opens the list view that lets you reorder your waypoints, and set the amount of time you will spend at each one. But this view doesn’t then interactively show you what time you will arrive at the subsequent waypoint. To see that info, you have to open the other list view. 3. There is an icon on the bottom of the screen that looks like a bunch of horizontal lines. This opens up the route wayoint list in a form that displays the dates and times when you will depart from and arrive at various waypoints. It also displays addresses, whereas the other list view just gives waypoint titles. Clicking on a waypoint brings up the map view in navigation mode with the next segment of your trip highlighted. So let’s imagine what it takes to make changes to your itinerary. You decide you want to add Magnoia Market to your Waco tour, but AFTER stopping at the grocery store, so the auto-routing feature won’t be used. First you use the map view to search for and add Magnolia Market. The app presents you a list to choose where you want to place this new waypoint. But because this list just shows titles, you’re not quite sure because you forgot row rename some of your other waypoints from addresses to the store names you are stopping at. So you then zoom in to map view (because every time you add a waypoint the map zooms back out), and click on it and edit the names of the other waypoints so when you go back to list view you’ll know what each waypoint actually represents. Then you go the the list view where you can re-order the waypoints so you can put Magnolia Market AFTER the grocery store. You aren’t sure how much time your itinerary gives you to spend at Magnolia Market so you switch to the OTHER list view to see what time today’s itinerary puts you at the hotel. You see it’s 3:00, so you figure that gives you 2 hours to spend at Magnolia. You GO BACK to the first list view to set the layover time to 2 hours, then go back to the OTHER list view to see the results. All this stinking back and forth within the user interface gets really really tedious. Why can’t there be one single view to rename, reorder, set layover times, and inspect itinerary schedules?
Subscription ?
by OneWickedWolf on 2018/05/14 02:16
Just playing around with the app , seems like a really good app compared to others , easy to add and edit waypoints . However there is no way I will pay a monthly subscription for the amount of times I will use it .
Most responsive Dev I’ve ever encountered!
by LtlRedX on 2018/05/13 22:03
Once again I’ve increased my ⭐️ rating because this Dev is simply the most responsive one I’ve ever come across. Not only did he take the time to contact me a second time and explain what I had obviously misunderstood about the difference between the app’s subscription service and one-time in-app upgrade purchase. He also he also explained why there are two levels and how they appeal to different users. I highly recommend this DEV no matter what app of his you may be using. And I will be looking at what else he has developed. Increased ⭐️ rating because Dev responded to my email inquiry literally within minutes. However I still feel verbal turn by turn navigation is a basic necessity & should be included in the Premium level subscription.
Hard to use
by 4699bd on 2018/05/07 11:37
I was looking forward to an app that would show my route with dates so that I could have one place to plan the itinerary. I grew frustrated trying even to track mileage and travel time from one point to another. Please add dates to waypoints and automatic mileage from one waypoint to the next one.

Way better than Route4Me
by +++++++<George>+++++++ on 2018/04/17 13:26
I have used both. Are used Route4Me for sometime but it’s more difficult to use and cost way more money if you get the paid version but if you use the free version you only get 10 optimizations per month. The interface in inRoute is much more simple to use and I like it a whole lot better. Everything makes so much more sense plus you can upload your addresses from a spreadsheet which you cannot do without paying in route for me. It’s just my opinion but that’s why we write reviews.
Great Work Route planning App
by BeninMnpls on 2018/04/09 00:42
I needed an app that I could import an xcell spreadsheet into then have it route it automatically. It also integrates with Waze, supposedly, however I can’t seem to figure how that works. All in all this app is by far the best app for trip planning with multiple stops. The ONLY reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the 100 limit on the importing. I wish it would do up to 200 or more. Also the Waze connection is hard to figure out. But I run Waze on my other cell phone at the same time. So it’s not that big a deal.
Great Little Trip Planner.
by Rhys'Mini on 2018/03/29 04:59
I enjoy planning and riding motorcycle trips. Sometimes I plan the entire trip before I leave my home, but I also find myself planning (actually adjusting my plan) on the fly in the motel room where I happen to be, or even at a fuel/lunch/snack stop. This app works great for all situations as long as I have a cell or WiFi signal. It is very easy to use. An important feature for me is how easy it is to tailor my route by just dropping pins along the route I want to take versus the one the app comes up with. I highly recommend this useful app. Rhys

I love this app! saved me time and headaches but After my initial trial and a month subscription ,I tried to cancel but there is no”CANCEL” button. It’s very confusing and when I tried to cancel, the web address was not “AVAILABLE” or “invalid web address”. Making it very hard to cancel. I had to email and ask them to cancel..... would have given 5 star but.....
Good App for motorcycles

So far I’m frustrated
by Jeffro59 on 2018/03/04 15:22
**Revised Thank you for the response. I understand what you’re saying regarding saving the pins and then loading them into my other device but it seems over complicated. In my opinion, if I have the app open on both my devices and I save a create a new map pin on one, it should instantly show up on the other device map. No additional steps should be required. **Original review I downloaded the app and played around with it for a couple days. I then bought the $15 version and set the app up on another iOS device on the same iTunes account. Am I mistaken in that if I set a new pin on one device it should just show up on the other?? All I can figure out is saving pins to the address book on one device and then importing then on the other device. That’s not how it should work. Developer- what am I missing?
Planning Motorcycle Rides
by challngr on 2018/02/13 14:11
Have been looking for a Route Planner, this works pretty well. Took some time to become familiar with the features, I use it for Motorcycle rides and its been fun planning out the Routes. After mapping out the trips, they can be titled and saved and can be shared. The app allows you to map out a desired route using what they call waypoints, the only problems I have found is, if you're not careful where you drop the way points, it will direct you off route, once you pass that way point, the app tries to redirect you back to that point . Would be cool if there were a skip button that directed you to the next waypoint on your programmed Route allowing you to continue the trip with out confusion, other than that, as I said before, it works Pretty well. 2/18 update Apparently they listen well, there is a skip button if you want to proceed past a waypoint..cool! Now I wish there were a version for a desk top, if I could map out a route on my IMac and transfer the route to my phone or a flash drive, that would be awesome, Great updates so far, loving the app!!
Not useful
by CPW55 on 2018/02/08 16:28
Only gives one route, pin to add stop doesn’t work (want to type it anyway). I’m a biker and all maps tell me the ugliest, most trafficy, most urban route - even tho it’s slower. Was hoping this one was different, so far nope
My Favorite App - Since 2014
by Pparker1024 on 2017/06/14 18:47
I'm a long distance motorcycle rider and love taking the back, winding road. I also run a large sport touring motorcycle group and plan very complex rally routes in the Smokey Mountains. I've tried out so many route apps and have paid for all of them. InRoute stands out far ahead of all others. It's not even a contest. Many other apps depend on a computer based application where you can view a route on the app. Some focus on uploading to a GPS, but few, if any, do it all on your phone or tablet. Those that can display a route rarely provide spoken turn by turn directions and none provides the ability to find gas stations along the route at 200 mile intervals and hotels ever 8 hours of driving, while adding layovers and stops at designated points. But where all others fall down is editing a given route on the fly from your phone. One more point of interest. Data is needed when you start a route. If you ride into areas where there is zero data access, you will always see your designated route and spoken turn by turn directions will always take you on your planned route. All in all, there is no better route planner - period. Faithful InRoute user since 2014.

The best routing app out there!
by Royal Ryder on 2017/07/06 00:13
Like many other motorcyclists, I have looked for and tried many map routing programs and apps. But none compare to the succwss I have had using inRoute. The fact that I can design my own back roads route is worth a lot, since I stay off Interstates whenever possible. Most other apps force you to map out the shorest and/or fastest route, which is usually not my objectvei at all. Add to that the funcaitonality that this app connects with my iPhone and iPad at the same time, allowing me to develop the route on iPad with the larger screen and then use that route via bliue tooth from my iPhone to my headset while ion the road makes this app totally usable and functional for the serious rider. Topping it all off is the quick responsiviness of the Help desk when you have a question. They helped me understand the various commands and functions in a short period of time and ocntinue to support me long after the app was purchased. I've actually talked with the developer himself! I would give this app 10 stars if allowed!
Great app
by qmsiees on 2017/09/14 01:50
I purchased the enhanced version with 100 waypoint capability. I use the app on an IPAD (with larger screen) to locate good twisty roads for motorcycle rides. When I finish a route, the app shows the distance and time required to ride it. I can adjust the route to get a good ride time (for me-about 4 hours). I export the route to Dropbox as a .gpx file and import it onto the InRoute app on my IPHONE. I mount the IPHONE on my handlebars, connect my SENA Bluetooth and ride. The voice instructions work great. The IPHONE display is good enough to see the upcoming turns. For my Harley, I load the .gpx file on a thumb drive and upload it to the NAV system. Works well on the Harley if you remember to go into IPAD settings and set not to export unused pins. If you let the unused pins export, your Harley NAV system will take you home first then start the ride. When you start a new route 100 miles from home, that feature does not work out well. I share .gpx files back and forth with several friends who ride. We have built up quite a library for Tennessee.
InRoute Rocks
by bizz tek on 2017/10/04 10:48
I’ve used this program for quite a while now and have to say it is my go to for motorcycle routing. I’ve got a garmin on my motorcycle as well, but find route planning, especially on the fly, to be much easier with inRoute. Planning routes on my iPad and then using them to navigate with my iPhone while on the bike is ideal. The progress this app has made from the start is great, but there is room for improvement. I would like to see the controls onscreen bigger and more prominent while navigating a route. On the smaller screen of an iPhone it is sometimes difficult to see the information at a glance. An easier way to zoom out the route while riding would also be appreciated. Update to Review: Thanks for the reply on how to zoom in and out. I did not know that, but have now tried it and it works great! 5th star added 👍
I wish it worked for cyclists
by The Shavian One on 2017/06/28 12:05
This app is remarkable because of its ability to import AND export GPX files in iOS. As a cyclist, I use these to import them to my head unit, which is a gps unit (I use the wahoo ELEMNT bolt) that can then provide turn by turn directions, which is great for 30 + mile rides in unfamiliar territory. The unit also records power, speed, heart rate, pedal cadence and so on. So this app seemed like the perfect companion for that--because google has great cycling directions, but no waypoints and therefore no GPX export. Unfortunately, the app was thrown by my attempts to use a bike path that stretches for miles through a state park--and routed me out and back around the park to the other side via roadways. Such a bummer, because it is such a great app. Maybe the developer could add a feature to force connect two waypoints? Or add more off road info? I do appreciate the free trial--and would gladly pay for it if it was more cyclist friendly.
New feature request
by Marty17942 on 2017/07/27 14:35
I love the app. This summer I have used it for the planning and execution of an extended RV vacation covering camping at some 30 state parks in Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan. I've also used it to keep track of scores of sightseeing points. One feature I'd like to see in the app would be a calendar that illustrates the dates that I reach my route's points. You already allow me to designate the starting date for my trip and because I can designate the number of full layover days, the app can calculate when I will arrive and leave a place. If I could only view all that information in a calendar I could better visualize my entire trip. If I like what I saw in the calendar within the app, I would then like to be able to export the dates into my Apple calendar so that I could share it with others.
Useful, easy to use, full featured
by Ex BH boy on 2017/10/20 20:05
I use this to plan a variety of trips. Waypoints can be added, deleted and resorted to explore route options and see travel times. Being able to see temperature and wind predictions for the route helps plan my motorcycle trips. As they've made this app compatible with both iPads and iPhones it's easy to plan a route on the large screen of the iPad and then sync to the iPhone for route guidance which you can either use another app for or use their in-app voice guided navigation. This app is well thought out and they keep making improvements. I highly recommend it. My only complaint is with the in-app navigation. When using the app the map rotates awkwardly and once out of cell range the map disappears and you’re left with the route and a line grid. There needs to be a feature to download maps for off-line use.
Most responsive Dev I’ve ever encountered!

Not as good as it seems
by PNW mtbiker on 2017/08/29 18:51
I have been looking for a way to customize maps and routes fo awhile, specifically for motorcycle travel. I will create maps on google maps, save the maps to icloud and import the .kml with this app into its interface, thats where it starts do go downhill. Too many little isues to mention here but for a 3000 mile trip (891 miles there, 891 miles back and the remainder split into 5 different rides) I fought the app the entire time. You need to be able to pause navigation if you go off route...but if you do go off route..it cant seem to figure out where you are and even get you back to where you were going. I ended up finding a way to use google maps and sometimes iOS maps and ended up with a better experience, definately not worth a subscription in my opnion. too many things made it "not for me"

I have been using the app with all its in-app add ons and could not be more pleased. I ride a 2014 Harley Ultra Limited with the built in gps. I have pre-planned coast to coast rides for groups and being able to calculate stop durations and overnight stays makes planning "kick stands up" a breeze. I can also import the daily routes right into the Harley NAV. But here is what is really cool. I have stopped and re-routed my own personal rides to avoid storms. I plan the route in InRoute with waypoints to direct the path, export the route from my iPhone to a flash drive through the lighting port, and then import the route to the Harley NAV and I am on the road. This can easily be done in a rest area or a local cafe or gas station just using your phone. That is convenient!
IMPROVED Full Featured Trip Planner
by JamuJoe on 2017/12/31 16:20
I've upped this app to 5 stars based upon the last round of improvements. The added utility of colored pins is GREAT! Using the search map feature, I've pinned Nat'l Parks brown, hot springs magneta, etc.... Now on our long camping journeys, we have our places of interest at a glance to tempt us into detours. This planner has almost every feature that I've been seeking in an easy to use app. The weather and elevation plots will be very important to us as we tow our travel trailer in winter months. This will likely become my 'go to' app for our more complex trips with lots of detours and stopovers. Sent a note to the developer, got a quick response, and I look forward to enhancements. I'll give it 5 then!
Needs Work
by Engr REH on 2017/08/03 22:22
This app is indeed an awesome trip planner, but the navigation functionality is really lacking. I planned a 2980 mile, 9 stop trip, and when I tried to start navigating, it said "please move 10 feet to the starting pin", as if it couldn't adjust the starting point to my current location. That is totally unacceptable in a navigation program. It finally - some 30 miles down the road - started giving sporadic (as in 'infrequent') directions, then went to sleep again for another 50 miles to so. It is easier to read the turn instructions in the trip details window. I still use it as a trip planner, then keep it handy as a reference while I navigate each leg of the trip with one of the maps apps. Once they get the nav function sorted out, the app will be a traveler's dream.
Pretty decent app
by KDubzie on 2018/07/11 19:43
I just used this for the first time for one of my routes.
Great For School Bus Drivers
by Sauvé Sound on 2018/01/25 14:39
I have been using this app for school bus routing. I especially like the satellite hybrid view of the map for spotting driveways and turn arounds. There could be some improvements to make it perfect; such as approaching addresses from the left always, and making turnarounds non-driveway only. If you are wondering why that is important, young riders need to get off at their driveway and not cross the street. Also, it would be nice to have your special notes show up as you approach the address. Other than those small things, it is a great app..
Great app for RV'ers
by SilverXrider on 2017/07/09 00:21
I use it with an iPad air2 so the big screen is easy to see while on the road. Being able to plan the entire route with stops and layovers is a huge help. And if you change your plans it is easy to update the route with the new information. Keeps you updated with mileage and time to waypoint as well as traffic and construction. Using the included filters allow you to customize the route to your vehicle or liking. If you're a road warrior you need this app. Works better on the larger screen of a tablet but a large phone will also work, just have your copilot use it.
Rhys
Way better than Route4Me
by +++++++<George>+++++++ on 2018/04/17 13:26
I have used both.
Not the best for RURAL routes
by GMBYeo on 2018/01/16 08:00
1. We can’t seem to share the Premium through our family share. 2. It gets lost. It told us to veer left, then it told us to return to the route after we veered...very off putting. 3. To stay on a more leisurely route you have to set excessive waypoints. Then, if you export to Apple Maps, it will only take you from waypoint to waypoint, so you have to load routes several times. Frustrating and time-consuming. Would be unreasonable for a lone-driver to do safely. Am hoping they pay attention as this seems to be the only app of its kind. The Overlanders seem to favor Gaia GPS. Maybe we should check it out! Safe travels!
Using inRoute
by Foxy 454 on 2017/10/05 15:06
I’ve been using inRoute for over a year now. I keep learning more about its capability’s each time. I like the way I can plot my own route instead of always heading down the toll road or interstate at 70 mph in bumper to bumper traffic. It really nice to slow down and see something along the way. One option it doesn’t have is to be able to avoid interstates or toll roads or even big cities with out having to plot the entire rout your self. It might take longer but it’s amazing what you might see along the way.
InRoute - Very useful for motorcyclist
by Scott Blackman on 2017/11/04 15:18
This is the only app I've found thus far that allows me to very explicitly select the waypoints I want to visit and/or routes I want to take that really sticks to them. It doesn't try to get me there the most efficient way, it gets me there the way I told it I wanted to go. I like the 'twisty's'. I like to stay off the highways and InRoute let's me do all that. I've used to it map routes for a group and shared that route with my friends using .gpx format and it's worked flawlessly. I admit that I really like a Mac version so I can map my routes on the computer, but that's a minor niggle.
This app is perfect!
by SaguaroJoe on 2017/08/06 21:44
My wife is flying to LA. She is renting a car and requires three totally different routes with different starting and destination points. I was quickly able to set up each route and bookmark it. The "remove" allows to clear prior route data and start a new one. Waypoints can be added as desired after the fact. New travel and driving times are added. This app also uses satellite GPS where cell service is not available. This is a very professionally designed app. Throughly thought out.
Ur own route.
by Stranger66 on 2017/04/22 03:07
Works great for making ur own trips on the roads u specify. Sometimes it doesn't calculate-the exact route u want so u have to drop another (waypoint) to make it go where u want. Sometimes it doesn't sync up with IPhone app and I have to Air Drop it to my phone... Other than those issues,it's pretty decent. Wish it had at least 40 waypoints for better calculation of route. I love how if I lose cellular service in remote areas that the gps on IPhone keeps going an following the roads already loaded on screen.
BAD APP FOR TRUCKERS/RVers
by juliedreams on 2017/10/18 22:20
Used an app 4 years ago when we were traveling back east & learned there are a lot of low bridges. Couldn’t find that same app again, so bought this one as our 5th wheel is 13 ft. 1 in. tall. This app took us on crazy routes, wanted us to take a “parkway” (warning, low bridges) in Maryland & took us under the Potomac River, which had a sensor to detect over height vehicles 13’6”). In reality, it took us off I-95, under the Potomac, tried to get us on a parkway, then back onto I-95. We could have just stayed on I-95. Then through NYC on the Interstate, it was telling us to take the wrong Washington Bridge (upper vs. lower) than the signs were directing truck traffic. We followed the signs & stopped using this horrible app. It is very user UNFRIENDLY to boot. Don’t waste your $$ on this.
Works Great
by K2gaudineer on 2017/09/22 01:21
I have tried many other GPS programs. This is by far the best I have used. In addition to the voice guidence the features I like the most are 1. The ability to set way points with just a touch. I ride a motorcycle & Slingshot and I will set a start point and destination and after the route is displyed I can add waypoints for sightseeing places along the way and have the route recalculted for 'Most Curvy'. 2. Once a route is determined I can have gas stations plotted along the rote every 150 miles or whatever distance I choose. 3. If the route is long i can search and plot layover stays every (x) number of hours from starting point. 4. Severe weather alerts are displayed along route. 5. Caculate custom routes based on a series of conditions like Most Curvy, Least Precipation and Highest Temperature. There are many more features ... All in all a great app
Pretty amazing

I purchased the enhanced version several months ago to plan a trip around New England. I initially downloaded and purchased the app on my iPad Pro and couldn’t figure out how to sync to my iPhone. I contacted the web developer via email through the website listed below and within about 10 minutes I received the info I needed. Now that’s customer service AND a quality app. Well worth the purchase. Easy for even me to create trips and save them. Thanks!
This App just made a 2100 mile trip awesome!
by DaveWhatAPainToNickname on 2017/05/27 14:23
I am amazed how smart he made his app. I planned a 2100 mile trip and easily dropped in gas stations every 150 miles, Airbnb's every night, told it I only wanted to ride 6 hrs a day and it told me where to stop, it warned me of extreme weather, warned me I had selected a dirt road (I ignored it and regretted it), and navigated perfectly. First and only app to so perfectly anticipate everything you will need for long trips. My kudos to the developer! I honestly want to give this developer a $100 tip, it's so good.
Perfect For Motorcycles and much more!
by WDT_Elwood on 2017/05/05 22:18
This app is perfect for planning motorcycle trips or any trip where you want total control over the route. I use this extensively for planning and leading HOG chapter rides as well as personal rides. The upgrade for full cloud sync and over 25 waypoints is very much worth the price if you like to do your planning on a large iPad and then use your phone on your bike or in the vehicle. This app would work will in any scenario where you want to plan a specific route.
Great trip planner
by Shmitty74 on 2017/06/16 01:22
I have been using this app for over three years and it's perfect for my needs. I regularly take 2-3 long trips a year of 5,000 miles or more and this makes figuring out how long I can travel for each leg of the trip to plan my layovers. I have the upgrade that allows for 25 waypoints and it's great. I have recommended it to my friends and they have told me that they love it too. Highly recommended!
Wonderful Route Planning App

I’ve tried many route planning apps over the years and inRoute is by far the best I’ve experienced - I say this after using it for about 10 miles. It’s simple to use, it’s never once crashed or frozen on me while I’m riding, and it’s completely hands-free during navigation. If you’re looking for a full featured, intuitive app to plan your two-wheeled adventures, this is it.
Fantastic app
by pbennj on 2017/07/22 14:31
Before I arrive at a travel site. I put in the airport, hotel, restaurant, gym. The app then optimizes the way points so I travel the most efficient route. My wife and I use this feature for garage sales. This app is perfect for travel especially in winter. Once you plan out your route it will let you know when to expect snow on your route in addition to other features like wind, altitude, etc. Love the app!
Almost Great App
by Walt479 on 2017/08/16 12:25
I love this app. It's great for trip planning. The only drawback is the amount of time it takes to show the map behind the route. After selecting a Start Point and Destination it shows the route on a grid background no map detail. Often going from a wide area view to a smaller few the same happens, grid with no map detail. I wait minutes for the map detail.
The Best Ride Planning App Available, Anywhere
by Seattle iHOG on 2017/11/20 19:53
This app just gets better and better. iCloud storage support makes it seamless ... most of my use is on iPad, but during the ride day the ability to view/amend on the phone is incredible. Just wish Garmin would make it easier to import the GPX files and waypoints ... nothing but hassles there ... but understand this app’s developers’ hands are tied.
Perfect for Real Estate Buyer Showings
by Tristebellarina on 2017/08/24 20:23
Love that I can put all the addresses in, it can sort them to a best route, and it can export them to Waze, my preferred GPS app. It can only export one address at a time though. So after you finish at one address, you need to go back to the app and start the next route. Maybe they have changed it since I used it last, but thats how it used to be.

Thank you!
Imports GPX files

BEWARE!
Awesome app!!!!

Hard to use
by graeagle on 2018/11/14 03:39
This app is very hard to get to do any routing. I tried to get a short route and the app kept wanting to change over to Apple Map. I gave it one star because there wasn’t a 0 star rating.

Limitedly Useful for the Cost
by RonDt on 2018/08/26 22:34

I purchased the enhanced version several months ago to plan a trip around New England. I initially downloaded and purchased the app on my iPad Pro and couldn’t figure out how to sync to my iPhone. I contacted the web developer via email through the website listed below and within about 10 minutes I received the info I needed. Now that’s customer service AND a quality app. Well worth the purchase. Easy for even me to create trips and save them. Thanks!
Fantastic for involved trip planning

I tried this app last Wednesday for a day of checking out antique/flea markets in an unfamiliar part of the state. It completely misdirected for one location and was not easily adjusted when we decided to reorder where we wanted to go. However, the driving directions and voice commands were very nice. I don’t like it enough to pay for it.
Pretty decent app
by KDubzie on 2018/07/11 19:43
I just used this for the first time for one of my routes.

Great for Paper Routes

This app works great for paper routes. I love the ability to import. Wish it had more than 100 stops available tho.

Way better than Route4Me
by +++++++<George>+++++++ on 2018/04/17 13:26
I have used both.

I travel a lot, car, camper motorcycle, Custom routes for all three, curves and dry for the motorcycle; Interstate and avoid tolls for the car, and back roads for the camper. Only thing that could be better if I had the option to put my streaming backcountry maps for a background! Nice work guys, your still the best

Very difficult to cancel !!!
by babbelgate on 2018/03/14 16:39
I love this app! saved me time and headaches but After my initial trial and a month subscription ,I tried to cancel but there is no”CANCEL” button. It’s very confusing and when I tried to cancel, the web address was not “AVAILABLE” or “invalid web address”. Making it very hard to cancel. I had to email and ask them to cancel..... would have given 5 star but.....
Good App for motorcycles

Would be 5 stars if there was a filter added for avoiding Highways instead of having to use the ALT route for every leg of the route.

I ended up finding a way to use google maps and sometimes iOS maps and ended up with a better experience, definately not worth a subscription in my opnion. too many things made it "not for me"
Versatile and practical
by DGryder on 2017/09/24 23:10
I have been using the app with all its in-app add ons and could not be more pleased.

Worth every cent

I have RVed for a decade and use this app more than any other app for planning my trips. It is completely useful, the learning curve is not that difficult, and if you pay for it, your can use it as your map while traveling. You can’t go wrong with this app, trust me, as it has really given me confidence to plan longer and more complicated trips. I know before hand, elevation ascents, curviness of roads, and the projected weather. Do yourself a favor and get it, use it, and enjoy the open road.
Works Great
by K2gaudineer on 2017/09/22 01:21
I have tried many other GPS programs.

Wonderful Route Planning App
by The Rogue Ninja on 2019/04/14 19:37
I’ve tried many route planning apps over the years and inRoute is by far the best I’ve experienced - I say this after using it for about 10 miles. It’s simple to use, it’s never once crashed or frozen on me while I’m riding, and it’s completely hands-free during navigation. If you’re looking for a full featured, intuitive app to plan your two-wheeled adventures, this is it.
