Thinks I’m a Business??
by Hollnagelc on 2019/12/12 20:44
Used to be great now it thinks I’m a business for some reason. Maybe they’ll get it corrected.
Great tool
by TripCat1021 on 2019/12/10 03:09
I use the free version. It allows me to support my entire family (I’m in IT) from work or from home, from my phone or my iPad. Now I rarely use it, but it’s a gold mine when I do

by Capt_Banana on 2019/12/09 05:57
I WAS a huge fan of TeamViewer for almost a decade, but they’ve gotten far too aggressive with falsely accusing users of “commercial use” as of late. Nice knowing you, TeamViewer.
Said I was commercial
by cosmic_nerd on 2019/12/08 18:43
After using it for years, but I’m an individual and it’s way too expensive. Introduce a reasonable priced individual plan and I’ll consider coming back.
Commercial Use?
by JOeMTC on 2019/12/07 01:21
Used TeamViewer for years to help my parents and that's it. Now I can't use it without TeamViewer (TrashViewer) thinking it's for commercial use or taking away features that used to be free. Use AnyDesk instead.
Commercial Use?
by SuprPhan on 2019/12/07 00:46
Like many others I use this maybe once or twice a week at most for less than 10min at a time. One day I got the commercial use message and went to the site as instructed and explained how none of my use was business related in any way. I get a positive response indicating that they’ve reviewed it and that the account was set back to free. Except the account wasn’t set back to free. This app is not worth the annoyance.
Commercial use
by Pixelvt on 2019/12/03 18:33
TV keeps accusing me of beding a commercial user thus I can no longer use the product. I have filled out their non commerrcial use form several times to no avail. The fact is I use it to connect to a few other computers in my house or when travelling. So much for free for personal use
lying company
by gghhkj on 2019/12/03 16:47
The software itself is ok. However, you are saying 5 minute free session every xxx time frame for free users from mobile end. That is OK,but my session always end in 1 minutes? F?
Commercial Use warnings.
by Osc err on 2019/12/01 17:17
Commercial use warning when app isn’t used frequently, not only that it says it will grant access for 5 min, but it’s more like 30 seconds. 1000 bucks a year to use this app here or there lol. Good luck getting the average consumer to pay that. Splashtop is better and cheaper. Everyone should use that instead. Thank god for competition in the capitalistic world. Team viewer is done if they keep this up.
Update caused mouse stutter, getting slower
by JamesMontagna on 2019/11/29 19:41
Unfortunately, it feels like every update cripples the app further and further. Previous updates have each noticeably increased the amount of old time from opening the app to accessing my computer. The latest update introduces a stutter when dragging my finger to mouse the mouse. It begin immediately after updating to the latest build of TeamViewer iOS and unfortunately it’s the deal breaker for me. I’m going to have to start looking into alternative services. Edit: It looks like this mouse movement change might have been intentional? TeamViewer… please change it back. If you very slowly drag your finger, the mouse does not move. Precision movement is no longer possible. You ruined something that was perfect as it was.
Update not working
by JP-0817 on 2019/11/28 03:02
It works perfect before the last update. When I try to log in, the app closes. I’m using a corporate account and an iPhone XS Max
Bait and switch
by Alex63729 on 2019/11/28 02:26
Have used teamviewer for years to help my friends and family with tech issues. Now all of a sudden im a commercial user. Their reset form takes forever to reply. Sometimes they ignore it at all. Getting lurred in to use freely and then once settled im asked to pay crazy money for license. Not a good business practice.
conflicts with Voiceover and key pass through when using a physical keyboard
by justinharris171185 on 2019/11/27 02:57
First off, the main interface of the app is reasonably accessible. However, once connected to a computer, there are major issues, as when using a bluetooth keyboard on the iPad, special keys such as Windows don't get passed through. Thus, it is pretty much impossible to navigate the os, switch between programs, etc. Also, with Voiceover, it reports a text box, which is a bit odd, but as you try to type on the windows machine, VO on the iPad also starts reading stuff out and there seems to be a conflict. It would be nice if there was a way to suspend VO when connected to another computer, and have it resume automatically upon leaving the app. Also, any controls in the interface after one connects to a remote pc are voiceover accessible. Whatever accessibility improvements you can make, along with better physical keyboard support, will be much appreciated.
DRM makes it unusable... great software, terrible execution
by Randomizered on 2019/11/26 07:41
In an effort to push you to their 1000 dollar a year subscription your account will get randomly flagged for commercial use. I connect to my home computer from my phone... random disconnects and time limits make this great piece of software unusable. Keep looking...

by Scifistephen on 2019/11/25 18:38
Same as a lot of 1 star reviewers, team viewer says I’m using it commercially even though I never even leave my home,I’m just connecting to my downstairs pc,I submitted a form letting them know this but their response was I was unable to prove it.If you don’t want to have people use a free version of your product that’s fine but if you do you just have to trust people at their word.Im switching back to Splashtop
Support is non-existent
by Vegaskathy on 2019/11/25 01:47
I have contacted support multiple times regarding my account. Somehow my iPhone account has been flagged as commercial usage, which is not the case. I have not received a single reply from support, nor has the commercial restriction been lifted. App worked great, until it didn’t....
Sensing “used for business”
by Prodvagon on 2019/11/24 17:08
The app was a savior for solving computer problems my 89yo grandparents that live thousands of miles away encounter. But recently the app started to smell a rat - ie “use for commercial purposes” and locks me out in 15 seconds. I understand they have to watch the integrity of their business model and charge commercial users, but there must be a mechanism for appeal when there’s a clear misinterpretation of user activity. Will look for something different on the market.
Customer Support Team Layoffs/MIA
by PhillipDampier on 2019/11/24 15:41
At all costs avoid. It appears TeamViewer has laid off most of their customer support team because the company no longer responds to customer service requests, even for paying customers. Considering the $600-1,000 ANNUAL subscription price, this is unconscionable. Free usage is now effectively limited to 5 minutes because the company incorrectly flags personal usage as commercial usage and no longer responds to non commercial declaration procedure that the website states you can use to stop this limit. Just read their support forum. Literally hundreds of complaints a month. In effect, TeamViewer as a going concern is gone. Don’t even consider giving them your hard earned money for a product that is now essentially useless.
Crash with Duo Login Auth

Good for a while...
by Person who uses your app alot on 2019/11/22 18:40
I really thought this app would be a keeper but I was very wrong... One day I saw my website was down so I logged on to my server just to be instantly disconnected and locked out for 10 minutes. It claims that I am using their service for “commercial purposes” but the most commercial thing I run is a private Minecraft server. Their false diagnoses has lead me to panic, desperately trying to find an alternative so I wouldn’t lose control of my server... I have found one and I can say I won’t be coming back. Thanks, team viewer for the times you worked, but this service is flawed.
Waste of....
by D000der on 2019/11/21 23:14
Waste of time, energy, power, battery life. This crap app doesn’t work on cell phone data.. only wifi.
Like many of you, I’m getting the TV “Commercial Use Detected”
by Crossmoneymaker on 2019/11/21 05:06
I am also now getting the “Commercial Use Detected” message after getting my account previously unblocked. This only occurs with the app for the moment, but I fear it will happen with all my PCs. I use this to access my computers when I’m away from them, so it defiantly falls under personal use. It seems like the “Commercial Use” detection needs to be fixed, as it is flagging people incorrectly.
False accusations render app unreliable, company untrustworthy
by neal_fan on 2019/11/20 15:16
Once upon a time, this was a great free option for helping elderly parents and techphobic relatives, but no longer. With the latest update, the company has decided that arbitrary, baseless accusations are what it needs to grow revenues regardless of how false and erroneous it is to label helping Grandma for free as “commercial use.” And in a revealing tactic, TeamViewer provides no realistic transition time to resolve the false accusation: the software essentially stops working, falsely (again!) claiming the session will be 5 minutes. A review of the company’s community forums reveals this is a recurring issue across a broad range of personal, non-commercial users. TeamViewer has actually made LogMeIn look great by comparison because that company gave users at least a month to transition to alternatives. Will TeamViewer learn from the blowback?
For Commercial Use ONLY
by Whooops on 2019/11/20 10:57
BEWARE!!! They will let you use download this app but then TRICK you into purchasing a subscription which is over $100 They claimed I was using it commercially. They said I may have used a WiFi from a coffee shop or something and made it look like I was using it for a business. I tried to start a new account and only put my home computer and my wife’s computer which are in the same room. The same thing. Says I was using it commercially. They DO NOT want people using it for free anymore because they are loosing too much revenue but by law they have to offer it for free. We all need to turn them in !!!!!
Total scam now
by letmegetmyreview on 2019/11/19 19:24
I’ve been using teamviewer for over a decade to connect to my home media server. It seems now they are just mine hungry pigs. My account is labeled as commercial when clearly it is not. Seems this has been happening a lot. Now I can move on to better truly free software from VNC or others.
Don’t get, no longer useable as “free”
by jvlorenzen on 2019/11/18 17:55
I have been using TeamViewer over 10 years. I found it useful when I needed to check on my Mac when not at home, maybe once every couple of months. Very low low use, but very useful when needed. I was on a public WIFI and for my security, I was using VPN based on my home router, ASUS, and it told me I was using it commercially. I was then disconnected after 5 minutes. Now I’m “using” it commercially even when I try to reach my Mac on a different floor in my house. I found it to be very useful for the rare occasions I needed it, now it is not useful for me.
Money grab for the loss!
by 837353729393635 on 2019/11/17 05:20
As many other reviews point out TVs new commercial use algorithm is useless. I submitted a request to be reinstated to free usage when I figured out what happened. 3 days later email response “you’ve been reset to free”. So I test it out works good no problem. 2 weeks later after not even opening the app or any team viewer connection, guess what... locked out again. Of course it is after business hours so I am out of luck for another 3-4 days in sure. So here I am with my new found free time adding to the advice of everyone else.
Annoying commercial accusation
by ScorpionLeather on 2019/11/16 21:55
Apple should investigate this app for removal from the App Store for false advertising that it is free for personal use (it is NOT): Even though I only use TeamViewer for personal use to help family fix their Windows, this app started to pop up a message saying that it appears I’m using it in a commercial environment. I sent them an email letting them know that I am not — but the message is still there every time I use the app. The company needs to understand how annoying it is to be falsely accused of something.

Quit working
by Eric Dallas on 2019/11/15 06:07

App just flat out doesn’t work
by 144278990 on 2019/11/14 22:38
I use TV to check a game client I run on my desktop once or twice a day. For some reason now, when I type in the ID and try to connect, the app becomes completely unresponsive. I’ve let it sit for a good while hoping that the issue was with my connection and not the app itself, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Quite unfortunate, as the app was decent for remotely controlling my PC.

Greedy company
by wangshihang on 2019/11/09 11:58
Once upon a time, Teamviewer promised it is free for personal and non-commercial use. Yes, I am always using it helping my Mom and use ONLY on my own computers, not a single penny made from my personal computers. Suddenly like all of you, I am flagged and prompt as commercial use. This is NOT fair for users like all of us. So long Teamviewer, I am going for other solutions, so long greedy company.
Update killed app
by Nerfing_1 on 2019/11/06 18:05
I used to use this all the time to do things on my pc at home. Sometimes I used to help my parents or my in-laws when they needed it. Since the update happened TeamViewer thinks I’m using it as commercial. I will admit I’m using it at work while on work’s WiFi to access my “personal pc” to check on a couple of things. After 7+ years I’m switching to another program. It was great before it “assumed” I was doing commercial work and limited my time to 5 minute increments. Sometimes it wasn’t even 5 minutes before it would cut me off.
Use occasionally

Banned from connection even for personal use
by EnC20181207pWd on 2019/11/04 08:22
Just trying to connect my PC from my iPad but kept on getting disconnected in less than 2 minutes. Tried to reconnect but got connection disallowed for the next ten minutes. Don’t know how much money TeamViewer thinks I get from connecting to my own computers. Uninstalled for now.
Like others. Been falsely accused of commercial use.
by Nate Lee-Wolf on 2019/11/03 03:22
I’ve left TeamViewer. I wrote you all 3 times with no reply using your form for wrongly identification of commercial use. I’ve been a TeamViewer user for over 10 years. But this was the last straw. As if the glitches in TeamViewer 14 weren’t enough. This did it. I’m going to Chrome.
Used to be good
by Caholawasa on 2019/11/03 03:21
I’m blocked because they think I’m using it for a business. I’ve changed to chrome Remote Desktop. Similar, though faster function without the TeamViewer B.S.
Good
by Jdoco on 2019/11/03 02:58
Its obvious everyone is trying to use this commercially for free. If you are connecting to multiple devices, albeit friends and family, its obvious the service will recognize your usage as business. What is your definition of commercial/business use? Anyhow this works fine for me and have no issues connecting to my office desktop as needed. If you have multiple devices you are trying to connect to. Then consider the paid version. If its not worth your money to help multiple friends and family, then you need to re-evaluate what you are attempting to accomplish ie freeload.
False accusations
by Larkin Barkin on 2019/11/02 22:55
I’ve been using, and recommending Team viewer for years until, several months ago, they accused me of using it for commercial purposes - which is complete BS - and summarily limited my access to a couple of minutes at a time. If you got greedy and don’t want me using the app for free, just tell me and I’ll find a competing service. But falsely accusing me, and ignoring my MULTIPLE appeals, only angers your fans and kills the Goodwill you've worked so hard to build up. Very disappointed.
Awesome program.. if you pay.
by Lazzy2332 on 2019/11/02 18:45
I have used teamviewer FOREVER helping my mom, brother, uncle, aunt, friends, totally for free, never charging anyone for any help I gave them, I hardly use it, a few times a month at most, then out of no where a few weeks ago I got a nasty message when I connected to my friends computer and it was in Spanish and when I clicked on it a teamviewer page (legit teamviewer website) came up in Spanish telling me I had to buy it, I brushed it off like it wasn’t a big deal, all of a sudden EVERY SINGLE COMPUTER I USE now won’t let me use teamviewer and says that I AM in fact using it commercially, I am not sure how they determine that but I don’t have a hundred dollars a month to help my friends and family for free for minor issues. So I reached out to support and they gave me a link to dispute it, the dispute took about THREE WEEKS and they sent me an email back saying that they have determined that I am using it commercially and that I would have to pay or prove I’m not using it commercially. WHAT THE HECK??? Teamviewer you guys really do have a wonderful program but you have ruined it by assuming everyone is using it commercially. If you had a cheap plan (like $5-$10 a month for individuals or something) I wouldn’t mind paying it but a hundred dollars a month is very excessive for someone who isn’t using it commercially. I will be finding another program and I’m not turning back, you have lost me and my business I want to start in the future.
Not a commercial user
by SAT222 on 2019/11/01 21:17
For some reason it says I am a commercial user and that my sessions will only last five minutes. It then kicks me out in under 30 seconds. Then it demands almost $90 a MONTH. First problem is I am in no way a commercial user. Is it mistaking me logging in from a business (random not where I work) as commercial use? Second what’s with the 30 second time out with a 15 minute lock out? Finally, on the page where it asks for that king’s ransom per month it clear I should be fine as it states “in any case, the use of TeamViewer with family and friends without any financial compensation is considered personal use.” This describes me and my usage. So why can’t I contest and use the product? Update to reply to dev: I filled out that form right after my review. I have yet to hear back from anybody on my submission.
It’s not free anymore - Just a trial!
by Kalaga1 on 2019/10/31 17:05
I have been using TeamViewer for a while purely for personal use and it was good. Now recently it comes up with a “commercial use detected” message and you have to request each computer separately filling up a form - a total waste of time. So it’s just a hidden trial - not free. Deleted my TeamViewer account and totally switched to AnyDesk - where free for personal use really means free!
Detected corporate usage? WiFi hotspots aren't corp
by Jonathan Summers on 2019/10/31 01:05

Home use = 2 minutes max use
by kcanrah on 2019/10/30 19:43
When tempting into my computer at home I’m told that is now considered commercial use and that the session is limited to 5 minutes. And by 5 minutes they actually mean 1-2 minutes before it cancels the session. This company has turned into hot garbage between this and their cover ups of data breaches.

by hlevolve2 on 2019/10/30 13:21
Teamviewer seems only interested in charging you. They say their app is free for non-commercial use but they banned my account when I attempted to set it up to help my grandmother with her iPad stating that it appears that I am using the app commercially. I contacted their support which pretty much said tough luck they weren’t reversing it and that I could file a bunch of paperwork if I wanted to “try” to appeal the decision. In other words they want to get you into using their app, ban your access to your personal devices and then make the process so complicated that you will hopefully just buy their services instead. Sorry but I’m not running a business and there is literally no way I can afford your insane pricing for my personal use to access my PC and help my family which is COMPLETELY within your guidelines for personal use. I’ve already found a free replacement for your company that works just as well. Good riddance, since you like to stab your customers in the back like that. I was praising your app to all of my friends that they should use you over the competitors but not anymore. My friend told me they had done the same thing to his account when he was using it to help some friends and his parents. Use at your own risk, you’ll likely just get banned if you use it for more than 1 PC/phone.
Used to be great
by Talihassee on 2019/10/29 23:42
Like many other reviews here, I’ve been a long time use to support family and friends and login to my other computers in my house. Now they have been accusing me of using the software for commercial use. I’ve switched to AnyDesk. It does the job but team viewer still has better performance but since they are forcing me to switch, so be it. Save yourself the trouble and go use AnyDesk.
Used to be the best...
by Wabarus on 2019/10/27 16:22
Now anytime I try using TeamViewer, all they try to do is get me to pay them for a commercial license. I only use my TeamViewer for personal use. So this has been frustrating for me because the license they are forcing me to buy is $2,000+... So I'm done with TeamViewer. I've started using Any Desk and it is a far superior platform in comparison to TeamViewer. Save your time and money. Don't download this app.

Free 5 minutes session but only 30s
by Allen艾倫 on 2019/10/17 14:21
I’m personal user not commercial user. I only connect to my PC when I use my phone when I outside. But it think I’m the commercial user. And it show that I have 5 minutes free session, but it disconnect after 30 seconds. And you need to wait another 10 minutes to reconnect. Useless this app.
Used to be great, no longer a functional app
by Jordanmac on 2019/10/17 02:38
I have been using this app to control my computer (which I use as a media server so is always connected) when away from home or just in the other room and it used to work great. Now it thinks I’m a commercial user and doesn’t work anymore - I haven’t changed my usage and if anything hadn’t used it much at all in the last few days so was surprised to be notified that my use ‘appeared to be commercial use’. Extremely disappointed that this went from an awesome app to completely useless just like that. The options are free for personal use (i.e. what I am doing - I am absolutely not a commercial user) or $83/month. That price could make sense for a business where IT is using it (I initially learned about TeamViewer because the IT at my work uses it) but for personal use that is insane. I guess I’ll have to switch to something else - especially annoying since I am currently out of town so can’t do anything about it until I am home.
Free version useless
by m_zomparelli on 2019/10/16 03:58
Do you really think your service is worth $85 a month just to use the iPhone app? Well, it’s not! Deleting the app and will delete from my computer when you implement the same limited features for personal use. I’ll go back to RDP.
Not good!
by Missouri Pacific on 2019/10/15 19:54
I used to use TeamViewer all the time for at least the past 5 years. Now, I can’t do anything I used to do with it thanks to its “Five minute limit.” Half the time, it won’t connect, kicks me off, then says I have to wait another 10 minutes to reconnect. Terrible! Don’t waste your time with this product!
A great app but watch out
by RIky_516 on 2019/10/15 13:32
I’ve been a user for years and the app works great for accessing my desktop remotely. But recent changes to the policy regarding unauthorized “commercial use” are negatively affecting real users like myself. I can hardly use the service anymore and only use for personal access to my home desktop. I refuse to subscribe to the outrageous business plan when I am legitimately not a business user. Unless you wish to pay the toll, avoid this for now.
Was great then got screwed
by AmandaMoran on 2019/10/13 23:01
I was going along just fine using Teamviewer for accessing my home computer that I run a program 24/7 on (accessing from phone —>computer). Like, a game actually. Used Teamviewer for a couple years for this, and today I got a pop up saying they think I’m using it illegally for business purposes but that computer doesn’t even have any business on it. Doesn’t even have Outlook! Ridiculous. Said it would limit my access time to less than 5 minutes. It dcd me after about one minute! Not enough time to even do my task. Ending popup said I couldn’t access for next ten minutes. I had to use it to set up google Remote Desktop and poof. I’m no longer using Teamviewer after using it for years. Took me most of the morning to get enough clicks in to set up the other program even though it is super simple. Teamviewer just kept booting me. Rude!

Forced Updates = Forced Obsolescence
by Lipmonger on 2019/10/08 22:55
I used to rely on TeamViewer for personal use, so I could access my home PC from my MacBook while traveling. However, on a recent trip I discovered the TeamViewer version on my laptop would no longer work with my PC version without an update. Unfortunately, the TV update would have required a complete OS update to my MacBook. This was an update that I do not want to perform. As a result, I con no longer use TeamViewer on my MacBook, and was forced to find another option. I now use Chrome Remote Desktop which does not seem to have these forced update requirements. Farewell, TeamViewer... it was nice knowing you. :(

App is crapp
by anoyed to the tenth power on 2019/10/01 02:35
Update: apparently if you give a bad review they block you from being able to use the app at all! IF I’m able to log onto this app it boots me off within 1 minute or less and then locks me out for 15 minutes. What good is an app like this this if it only lasts 1 minute. The constant threatening pop up promises 5 minutes but that’s a lie. And what good is 5 minutes anyway??? I’d give it ZERO stars if I could!
Why the constant disconnects?

Bad business practices
by Bill9603 on 2019/09/27 13:33
This company used to be the pinnacle of the “free software at home, to bring into work” business model. Now they harass free users to the point of making their apps useless and accuse them of “commercial use” in cases when it obviously isn’t. I just opened the app after almost 6 months and got to have a single five minute session before being disconnected. Not anywhere near enough to actually do what I needed and now I can’t connect to my computer because I was foolish enough to trust this horrible excuse for a company. Stay away and find someone who you can trust to not maroon you. Fortunately I have some sway at the company where I work and I think our licensing is expiring soon, so I’ll see if I can talk to our IT guy about switching.
This app says to play fair but they don’t!

Does not work, app accuses you of misuse, manipulative
by jenreview21 on 2019/09/21 16:23
The app blocks me for “commercial use” and says I get five minutes, then kicks me off after one minute and doesn’t allow me to connect again. I only use it for personal use, I don’t own a business and my company doesn’t use this software. They just want personal use users to pay for their business plan out of anger and desire for their app to work.
20-Sep-19 - Delevoper response
by Cheapskate01 on 2019/09/20 19:01
20-Sep-19: I received developer response for my 15 and 18-Sep-19 reviews. Developer response is: They are not allowing version 13 to operate without a purchased license; for free use, they are requiring the upgrade to version 14. This makes Team Viewer pretty much useless for me. So, one star it is; I can no longer use Team Viewer. Should Team Viewer have a change of heart for us iOS 9 users, I will gladly change my rating. My review from 15-Sep-19: I am now on the "five minute" list with the rest of the folks who are complaining. Unlike the others, it appears that, in my case, it is that I refuse to upgrade from v. 13 to v. 14 that is the issue. But iOS 9 devices cannot upgrade to v. 13 and cannot remote into computers running v. 14. Therefore, Team Viewer is now disabled and useless for me. I'm lowering my review from two to one star. My review from 15-Sep-19: My issue is, last week, I was presented a message that I would be shut off at five minutes if I didn't upgrade from v. 13 to v. 14. The reason I froze my computers at v. 13 is that v. 14 will not download to my iPad 2, iOS 9. My iPad is stuck on v. 13 and if I allow my computer to upgrade to v. 14, then my iPad 2 cannot talk to my computer. To upgrade to v. 14 would disable Team Viewer for me. It would be of no further use to me. I would have to delete Team Viewer in its entirety from my system. Please explain.
Don’t use.
by F.-Xavier-G. on 2019/09/20 16:20
Don’t use their software, it’s “free” until they block you for “commercial use” with no supporting reason behind it. Then they will limit your access until you buy a license. I guess connecting to one of your home pc’s in another room from a personal laptop is considered “commercial use.” Sounds like a scam to me. From the looks of all the most recent comments I’m not the only one in this situation. Update Customer service is not helpful. They keep regurgitating the same scripted information. Which is not helpful or useful.

I’ve been a free user for over 10 years. They just lost me. Recently they have been accusing free users of using the free product, commercially. I have 3 pc’s, and I use TeamViewer to run windows updates or turn them off if I’m upstairs before bed. Soon TeamViewer will not be a thing. Many free users are going to create a class action suit against this company. You will never get my money. I will never recommend team viewer to any of my friends. I uninstalled on every device I have. I am now using Chrome Remote Desktop.

Lockout, false commercial use detection
by thegraffix on 2019/09/17 17:48

After years of use, I'm terribly disappointed.
by j_apple_47 on 2019/09/17 17:41
I was locked out of the app after being flagged as a "commercial user" without any given reason. This is obviously a systematic issue that deserves more than a copy-paste response from the company. When a majority of reviews cite the same major recently-developed problem, it's not us - it's the software. This used to be a 5-star app. Now I'm being asked to fill out detailed forms to get approval for each device I use. After several years of using TeamViewer, I will now be using AnyDesk.

Program works adequately sometimes. Company has predatory policy of requiring written cancellation of a policy 28 days before cancelling no exceptions. Traps users into contracts they are stuck in. Every time I think of Team viewer I get mad. The hoops you need to jump through to contact customer service is ridiculous and I hope that whoever reads this finds encouragement to spend your money elsewhere

by Evan1139 on 2019/09/12 05:11
What happens when you use 4 computers to connect to each other on your home network (definition of personal use) for a couple of years then all of a sudden 2, and only 2, of those computers get accused of “suspicion of commercial use”. You stop trusting Team Viewer & everything it makes. Way to chase off potential customers you mouth-breathers.
TeamViewer lockouts
by howradisit on 2019/09/11 13:12
I used to really enjoy TeamViewer. It's been my main remote desktop solution for at least 8 years. However, they just started instituting an extremely limited duration for remote desktop connections. There's no visible timer and it keeps counting down, even while not using the app. All you get is a cute screen that says your partner ID is locked until xx.xx am/pm. It doesn't even say it in a unit of time or give a countdown. TeamViewer has basically become unusable. I urge anyone looking to use this or already using it to look elsewhere. I have deleted my TeamViewer account and have removed it from all my devices.

Scenario: I’m away from home, trying to help my wife with her iMac. I am using a hotel Wi-Fi and on VPN (for privacy/security). For some reason, TeamViewer get it into it’s little head that this is a commercial interaction, and cuts me off after a minute. There is no way to tell it that it is totally wrong. Meanwhile, my wife is struggling with her iMac problem. TeamViewer fails just when I need it. When it works, it is great. But it fails at the most inopportune times.

Limits to 5 minute sessions
by ExplodingMantis on 2019/09/09 06:17

“Commercial use detected” Yeah, right...
by Mrgl Brmft on 2019/09/09 01:49
All I want to do is to connect to one single laptop in my house. There is nothing commercial about it. It’s a 100% personal usage, which should be free according to TeamViewer. The app however bugs me that I use it commercially and tells me that it terminates the connection after 5 minutes. However even this is a lie. The connection not even lasts 30 seconds. I am finally sick of this useless app. I have already switched to another Remote Desktop software. I will delete TeamViewer right after I’m done with this review. 3,2,1... gone. No loss!

Locking down inaccurately
by Compuparker86 on 2019/09/07 09:37
Says I’m using it commercially (inaccurately) and will limit the session to five minutes... I would even be fine with that since the desktop version works normally/correctly, but it actually ends the session in less than a minute with this message on mobile. Clearly broken and very disappointing for a product I’ve used often for both the subscription product and personally in different scenarios.
Could be 5 star
by Hddj on 2019/09/07 06:26
Could be a star 5 app, but I encounter way too many bugs, and it app ends your session within a few seconds of navigating out of the app. One of the most annoying is getting booted off of teamviewer and getting locked out saying I’ve reached the “maximum duration for the session” after a couple of minutes of using it. Makes no sense & appears to be random.

When it works it does the job
by Hunter S. Zombie on 2018/07/19 23:49
This app is a great way for me to remotely access my machines from home but it has some bugs that haven't been fixed in a while. One major bug is I can no longer add new computers either to an existing group or even when making a new group. I hit the + button and the app immediately crashes. No amount of restarts will fix it. Would also be helpful to add a feature where the black square portion controlling the mouse would stay the same size as you zoom in on the screen. Having the black portion zoom while zooming the desktop is counter productive since it's much harder to control the mouse on the desktop window itself.
Used to be great
by steven1075 on 2018/10/05 19:18
I have used TeamViewer for over a decade and used to love it. But now it seems they either want you to pay for it or not use it at all. They have accused me of using it commercially and limit sessions to 5 minutes. I have had a account with them for almost 11 years and used to have no problems and would love being able to remotely connect to my desktop on the go. Now they say I’m using it commercially and give me no opportunity to contest this. It is despicable and now I will never use them again and never recommend it to another person. If they want money for their program I would gladly spend $50 for a year of service because of how much I like it. But accusations of me using it commercially has turned me off. I have never written a review in my life but this has soured me on them so much that I feel I need to make others aware. I have been a loyal user of theirs and suggested it to dozens of people and stood by them a couple years ago when they were hacked and everyone’s computers were susceptible to being remotely accessed by hackers. Now I’m done, there are too many other programs that do the same thing. I suggest everyone looks into alternatives, they’ve made it clear they only want their software for companies that fork over a ton of cash to them.
Right-click by long-press
by sc00frend on 2018/09/24 01:12
I like the interface, and I love being able to wake my desktop remotely. Since I often use drafting software remotely, I find the right-click feature could be improved in “Mouse interaction” mode where tablet touch acts like a fancy trackpad (here, I’m not discussing touch mode, where click/touch signal is sent for the spot you touch on the screen). If the user could press and hold (in the same place) for a long time, forever even, and no right-click command be sent Until the finger is lifted, That would be Awesome! Then, if the user touches the screen for 5 seconds or even more, moves the finger (still touching the screen) the app could respond as though I’m trying to move the mouse pointer, rather than trying to right click. I suggest this as opposed to asking that the right-click delay be longer; I’m not trying to slow everyone and myself down. I would just like it to wait until I lift my finger (without moving it around) before it sends the remote computer a right-click command. Thanks!
Does not work on iPad
by TheEnemy37 on 2019/05/27 18:30
[UPDATE: They seem to have fixed this since my original review. I have updated from two stars to four now. Would be five stars if they gave us the option to move around the way LogMeIn does where the cursor stays in the middle of the screen and the background moves around instead. Much easier to work that way.] This works normally on the iPhone, but it does not work at all on iPad. You can’t pinch/zoom, and it’s like the left click is always active no matter what you do. I just tried in on my iPhone and it worked normally. I wanted to send an app support ticket, but they don’t allow you to do that unless you’re a paying customer... but they charge $50 a month, which is just not something a once in a while casual user will do... So, unfortunately, they get the bad review until they fix it. Hopefully someone is looking at these, but I won’t hold my breath. Hopefully this gets fixed soon!
I’ve only got a couple problems.
by Lei gets on 2018/07/30 20:20
Overall, this app is really nice for being able to access your computer from a distance. The problems I personally have is that there is no way to properly transfer pictures from the computer onto your iPhone so that you can see them. You can’t place them in the Camera Roll at all. Instead you have to place them in the directory that contains the overall photos file, and that cannot be accessed through the Photos app on the phone. The other thing is when I do go to open the Camera roll folder itself from within this app, I’m guessing because of the large amount of photos inside of it, the app either takes forever to open it up properly, or the stress causes it to crash. If this can be improved, this app would be even better.
conflicts with Voiceover and key pass through when using a physical keyboard
by justinharris171185 on 2019/11/27 02:57
First off, the main interface of the app is reasonably accessible.
Good most of the time
by jessese on 2019/07/31 08:06
I’ve been using the app for quite some time to remotely access my computer and even to remote into a friend’s system to help him with his computer programming class. It was instrumental in allowing me to help late at night so that he could get his homework finished on time. The reason I took a star off is because the app for some reason thinks I’m a company now for the past two days and disconnects me from my computer after after 5 minutes. I’m sure it is just a temp problem and very well could because I have a vpn on the system the client is installed on so it probably shows that my computer is in a different location every couple days. I just hope it comes to its since soon. Luckily most time 5 minutes is more then enough.
A dream for controlling multiple computers!
by Garrett Jasek on 2018/05/23 17:55
This is a game changer for the IT world. I can leave my home PC and work PC on in their respective locations, while remotely logging in and having full access to both at any given time. I have reset servers as well as preloaded games on my personal PC all from a red light in the car. I am no longer tethered to a desk. The only thing preventing me from giving it a 5 star rating, is the fact that on IPhone, I cannot add or save a computer list. I have the option to do so, but every time I try and add a PC to the list, the app crashes... The second this is fixed, there is no doubt this will be a 5 star app! Edit: I have found a work around. If you add the PC you want to save on the desktop app, it will appear in the mobile version as well!
FIX IT!!!!!
by Bham Res on 2018/09/06 13:46
We have a corporate account on TeamViewer 12 with 4 concurrent connections, so we paid quite a bit to them last year. With the last update (about a 2 months ago) it keeps saying “we suspect commercial use, you will be logged out in 5 min” on all of our mobile devices. Well, it’s more like 30 seconds. BUT WE HAVE A CORPORATE ACCOUNT!!!! A representative even told me that there was a problem and they would be releasing an update soon, that was a month ago and still no update. He added my cell phone to force it through, now it won’t connect most of the time, simply says “can not connect, an error has occurred”. TeamViewer has gotten greedy and want you to switch to their expensive subscription plan on TeamViewer 13. Hopefully I can talk my company into switching back to the better remote software we left because it was subscription based and kept going up. At least with them we could LogIn to help our customers.

Banned
by hlevolve2 on 2019/10/30 13:21
Teamviewer seems only interested in charging you.
Sometimes good, sometimes barely useable
by 10-oh on 2018/09/01 02:02
Why is it sometimes barely useable? Well, first of all, whereas the PC app works fine all the time, when using this iPad one I get errors saying that the maximum session time, or count, is exceeded and I have to wait until xx:xx time to try again. That may happen even after I connect just once for one minute and disconnect. Totally unusable then. Plus, my employer uses team viewer on literally over 10,000 PC’s, so sometimes this app is used in that environment and sometimes I use it to connect to my handful of personal PC’s. But often it’ll bark and say that it won’t connect because of possible commercial use. Well hey, so I have my work pc in my computer list, as do I have my personal ones. Sure, but it’s all legit and done per the rules. So the app just doesn’t work for me much. It USED to be better. But until they fix that stuff, it’s 1 star, baby.
Rude!

I have used TeamViewer for personal home computer connection for 2 years. Today I updated my app and TeamViewer has informed me I am apparently using this for commercial use and want to charge $86/mo for a service I have used for free for personal use connecting to my home server remotely for 2 years. Great work! Aside from that, when using mobile phone and trying to type in a terminal on guest machine, you can not type some functions like - - for running commands. You must use a pc for running terminal commands.
It’s not the app that’s flawed...
by No name Katie on 2019/06/26 20:01
I also have seen the “error reason unknown” message and the endless spinner when trying to start the app. Once I updated the iPhone app and the PC app, it works great again. I probably “lost” ten minutes figuring it out. I’m giving the app five stars because it has been excellent for all the years I’ve used it (at least four years, maybe more). But I feel like the developer(s) could be more proactive with letting users know updating is required in order for the app to continue to work.
Good
by Jdoco on 2019/11/03 02:58
Its obvious everyone is trying to use this commercially for free.
Fast and Good quality video BUT...
by kch79624 on 2018/12/17 14:25
This is indeed great app. Encoding & decoding process looks efficient enough to make the streaming really fast and clean at the same time. But one thing lacking is, I can only set resolution that my pc supports (I can't set it to my iPad resolution cause my monitor doesn't support it). Other apps like "spacedesk" can even specify resolution within its app making use of their own display driver installed in my pc. I don't know if it has something to do with EDID overriding stuff, but I really hope this app can have some custom resolutions.
Mostly works well, but has one annoying bug
by GoalieEd on 2019/06/21 20:21
Hi I’ve enjoyed using teamviewer for personal use for years, and feel it is a solid product that generally works well. However, I’ve run across an annoying bug where the Ipad when running teamviewer wont output audio to my Airpods, I hope they can get fixed soon as it limits the usefulness to me as I have to use headphones to listen to my Ipad. I found contacting support options were limited, hopefully someone else has reported this bug to be fixed in the next version.
Dishonest
by techger on 2018/04/12 23:58
Don’t pay for the premium account; the way they present features of this app is very deceptive. They charge the entire year at once and don’t let you cancel for any partial refund once users realized that they got fooled by the company. They told me that I can connect to unlimited devices and charged me $1,180 for the entire year upfront. Then I found out that I can only connect to one device at a time which makes the unlimited devices feature meaningless. They are much more expensive than similar products and lie about everything to get your money. The fact that they charge you upfront and won’t let you cancel is the the clear pattern of companies that are scamming customers. Horrible company.
Used to be great.
by AlienFX on 2018/11/21 23:27
So annoying to have to wait minutes for the “login” page to load 🤬. This system used to work well so we invested into the paid version of 12 this was right before they offered subscriptions. I asked about it so it wouldn’t be such a huge upfront cost but they said they didn’t plane on doing it. and then a few months later they offer new subscriptions with version 13 and have been trying to get us to buy into it even though we just spent thousands to purchase 12. They would not give us a reasonable credit for the in used value. Now the system gets worse and worse. Sad we spent money on this. I agree with Steven....
Broken algorithm
by Frostymoon on 2018/08/18 00:48
For years I had been a user even a promoter of TeamViewer... those days are over! I hated the “thanks for playing fair” message every time I used the app but since the app worked so great I ignored it even when they had some goofy dude giving dirty looks like they are trying to scare me into purchasing a business account for my own PERSONAL use! So for the past few months they have pulled some garbage of killing the connection after one minute of activity that NEVER CONNECTS then locks me out for 10+ minutes! Yeah they have a ticket system to PROVE they are WRONG! Sorry but I think I’ll be uninstalling this app and letting everyone I’ve told over the years to do the same!
Can't Connect
by Johnny101Boy010 on 2019/08/21 23:46
After I updated my TeamViewer, I can no longer connect to any of the computers on my list. It says, "connecting", but just goes back to the connection screen for the computer I'm trying to connect to. This is very frustrating, as I manage a lot of computers. Please fix this ASAP. Update: I haven’t been able to use this app in months. Every time I go to connect to a computer, it says, “Unable to Connect. A connection could not be established. Reason unknown.” I’ve tried updating, uninstalling, reinstalling, using a different device, and nothing. None of it works. I used to love this app. Now it doesn’t work at all on any mobile device.
Great app
by iOS lord on 2019/08/07 13:07
This is a great app and have been using for so many years. I started using the desktop version and then moved on mobile version. I myself is an app developer so understand that every app has some glitches but besides that this app makes my life so easy and comfortable on the go. I haven’t used it for the commercial purpose so cant comment but the free version is an excellent one. 5 stars for the idea and implementation.
Didn’t ask to be upgraded
by BigAl53 on 2018/08/24 02:15
I have used Teamviewer for some time. Don’t need it a lot but it worked when I neeeded it. Our company has been using it since version 8. We would upgrade when Teamviewer added some feature we wanted. Last upgrade was 11. Somewhere along the line Teamviewer on my iPhone updated. Now it says sponsored session every time I use it with the computers on our account. We are licensed for three concurrent sessions. This version says I can’t use it for corporate use. I didn’t ask to be upgraded.
Beyond unprofessional
by Shrewthy on 2019/06/15 17:33
I agree 100% with everything Steven wrote- “Used to be good” review. I have had the exact same experience/issues. I have received threatening emails suggesting I am using the app in a commercial way which is not the case. I contacted support who told me not to worry, it’s a free service, and that I should delete and reinstall the program. I did and shortly after received yet another threatening email about misuse- at which time they blocked my ability to utilize the app. Very disappointing, very frustrating experience. I never write reviews, etc, but felt the need now because of the manner in which I was treated.
TeamViewer is falsely accusing commercial use
by Hex60638 on 2019/08/09 09:57
TeamViewer has flagged me as using their product for commercial use after years using the product for personal use as they define it. I use it to access my Mac at home and or use it actually at home to access my Mac. Trying to get them to unblock by filling out their form and they still come back telling me that I use it for commercial use. They are baiting their free users to buy a license. Falsely advertising. This is how they define usage. “ Examples of commercial use: Helping or supporting customers or colleagues at work Assisting businesses or organizations, even on a voluntary basis Connecting to your company PC or server from your home office Examples of personal use: Helping or supporting friends and relatives Connecting to your personal computer at home” I fall under the camp of connecting to your personal computer at home. But they still block me and you have no ability to get them to change
Personal use flagged as commercial
by Nickram81 on 2018/08/18 17:24
I don’t know what these folks were thinking trying to accuse their users of using this app for commercial use when they are just using it for personal reasons. I have a PC in my basement at home that I use when my phone can’t do the job. I use the app from inside my home as well using the same connection. But some how that qualifies as commercial use. They will give you “5 minutes” until you get blocked by I was blocked in less than a minute for 10 minutes. I will be promptly uninstalling and using a competing free product. Avoid!!!!!!
Amazing and reliable service
by Billy3251739 on 2018/08/13 17:28
I’ve never had this service not work, or had to worry about the security. Extremely reliable, works exactly how you set it up. I especially appreciate the ability to setup unattended access of a computer. I’ve been using this service for years without a single complaint.
3,2,1... gone. No loss!
Horrible
by BambiRaptorrr on 2017/11/28 08:16
Absolutely terrible for iPhone. It was so hard to use I had to just give up and cancel a call, thanks for costing me $150 and a half an hour of my life wasted trying to get this stupid app just to open a webpage. Horrible. And that was after ten times of having to enter the users ID and password because it wouldn’t connect. Seriously more than an aggravation at this point, now it’s actually cost me money. I suppose it’s useable on a PC or pad, but not on a phone. This version of the app is pure garbage.
Can't remote control in iOS
by non-choice on 2019/01/31 19:30
Before TeamViewer remote control was very good for remote control PC to smartphone. But new version was very bad app. I can't remote control from PC to iPhone. I tried to remote my iPhone from PC. But it didn't work. I can't remote and control my iPhone. The old version can remote and control phone well. But in New version can't do anything. I want to remote and control my iPhone, but it asked for screen broadcast. It can't stay in long. I stayed about 1 minutes only. Please fix this problem. I need to remote and control device no need screen broadcast.
Does not support older iPads
by TheCaptainDDL on 2018/12/28 04:52
I am disappointed that Teamviewer no longer supports older iOS devices with their latest updates. It would not be such a big deal, but now it will not allow me to connect to my home laptop, as the version it runs is too new. The only solution provided is to update the app on my tablet, which I cannot do. Please provide a way for us to still connect to computers, even though we might not have all the newest features. Otherwise I seems I would have to replace a perfectly good tablet, my iPad 4, just for compatibility's sake.
Used to be a good product
by kordianw on 2018/12/07 16:44
I used to like and recommend this product but they have started being more aggressive to make you pay and now won't even connect without accusing you that you use it commercially (I am not!) and so basically it cuts out after just 5 mins of use, unless you purchase an expensive commercial subscription. Sorry to see them become so aggressive about wanting more and more $$$ :-(. There are no inexpensive options, you basically have to pay for a very expensive plan before you can do anything.
This app is awesome and new features added all the time
by Ilsagitarium on 2018/04/08 17:27
I would give it 5 starts but the only annoying part is when I access my computer (or any computer)with a device that doesn’t match the resolution on the computer the app set to “best fit” by default this causes many issues . The resolution shouldn’t be change by default when you connect ...
Well was good
by Compagna13 on 2018/11/08 11:23
Had been using your product for about a year to access my computers at home. But now I can’t even log in. Nothing is working on my iPhone 8+. Don’t know if it’s a developer issue or if it’s on more than just this device. But I can no longer access or use the app. On log in screen I can not enter or press the boxes for I’d, password, or sign in. Like the links are not active or something. I have tried deleting the app and re installing. But it doesn’t seem to have been the fix. Unsure what to do here. Would love some developer feedback.
Don’t use.
by F.-Xavier-G. on 2019/09/20 16:20
Don’t use their software, it’s “free” until they block you for “commercial use” with no supporting reason behind it.
Copy/Paste Defect & No Search
by SwankPeRFection on 2017/10/20 00:56
Can’t Copy/Paste from Safari into a remote session. You need to fix this and all Copy/Paste Issues to/from the app to other apps or to iOS functions. Can't copy text from iOS Notes app and paste it into a Command Prompt window on a remote server. You need to fix this ASAP please. Also needs a Search capability on the Computers list screen. You ever try to scroll through over a hundred computers to try and find the right one? Yeah, add a search feature, just like the desktop version has. A proper QWERTY keyboard layout would be nice. We use a very specific keyboard layout based password for some of our systems and because the virtual keyboard buttons aren't lined up the same way as a real physician keyboard, it's hard to type in the right password. This should be fixed in landscape mode at least or figure out something.

Commercial Use?

Commercial Use?
by SuprPhan on 2019/12/07 00:46
Like many others I use this maybe once or twice a week at most for less than 10min at a time. One day I got the commercial use message and went to the site as instructed and explained how none of my use was business related in any way. I get a positive response indicating that they’ve reviewed it and that the account was set back to free. Except the account wasn’t set back to free. This app is not worth the annoyance.
Commercial use

You ruined something that was perfect as it was.

conflicts with Voiceover and key pass through when using a physical keyboard
by justinharris171185 on 2019/11/27 02:57
First off, the main interface of the app is reasonably accessible.

Will look for something different on the market.

by PhillipDampier on 2019/11/24 15:41
At all costs avoid.

Quite unfortunate, as the app was decent for remotely controlling my PC.

by wangshihang on 2019/11/09 11:58
Once upon a time, Teamviewer promised it is free for personal and non-commercial use.

Good
by Jdoco on 2019/11/03 02:58
Its obvious everyone is trying to use this commercially for free.

Like many other reviews here, I’ve been a long time use to support family and friends and login to my other computers in my house. Now they have been accusing me of using the software for commercial use. I’ve switched to AnyDesk. It does the job but team viewer still has better performance but since they are forcing me to switch, so be it. Save yourself the trouble and go use AnyDesk.

by Wabarus on 2019/10/27 16:22
Now anytime I try using TeamViewer, all they try to do is get me to pay them for a commercial license.

Terribly Complecated

Why does this have to be so complicated? I’m not an IT guy and wanted to use to help my Mother remotely. Not worth the headache.
Find an alternative
by mfyd on 2019/09/13 22:45
Program works adequately sometimes.
Strings-arm Bullying Tactics
by Evan1139 on 2019/09/12 05:11
What happens when you use 4 computers to connect to each other on your home network (definition of personal use) for a couple of years then all of a sudden 2, and only 2, of those computers get accused of “suspicion of commercial use”.
When it works, its great — BUT IT THINKS I’M COMMERCIAL WHEN I’M NOT
by Steve Davidson on 2019/09/10 13:38
Scenario: I’m away from home, trying to help my wife with her iMac.

Limits to 5 minute sessions
by ExplodingMantis on 2019/09/09 06:17
Connecting to my own personal PC results in messages saying the session is limited to five minutes due to commercial use. Unclear how to dispute this so I've started to use Splashtop which isn't as good but doesn't charge $80+ a month.
3,2,1... gone. No loss!
Now it’s complete garbage
by Chris Pearcy on 2019/09/08 15:39
Team viewer used to be good. Now it crashes and alleges I’m using it for commercial use every time I try to connect to my home PC. Use Jump Desktop and save yourself the hassle.
Free version no longer working
by Jbraveman on 2019/09/08 02:35
I was a frequent regular user in a non-commercial environment. I can no longer use the app for more than a few minutes at a time before getting kicked off.
No longer reliable

Screwed up

I’ve been using this app for a week now, worked great. Today I need to start using it again. Every time I give it my password, it tells me that I’ve entered it wrong suddenly, even though I’ve been using it for over a week. JUNK!
Banned
by hlevolve2 on 2019/10/30 13:21
Teamviewer seems only interested in charging you.
Rude!
V14.4.7 locks free version from use
by 111111111111111112122111 on 2019/08/02 14:48
I have used TeamViewer for personal home computer connection for 2 years.
Good
by Jdoco on 2019/11/03 02:58
Its obvious everyone is trying to use this commercially for free.
3,2,1... gone. No loss!
Horrible
by BambiRaptorrr on 2017/11/28 08:16
Absolutely terrible for iPhone.
