Bug-fest with no fixes in sight

Used to crash on my iPhone 7, and now crashes on my iPhone X. CarPlay performance has got progressively worse, and a quick search on the web shows that it's a widespread issue that Google has made no efforts to fix.

App was good for a while but now it freezes, stops playing my music, and when I go to hit play to start it again, it resumes playing but with the song sped up and a good octave above what it should sound like. You have to reset the app to fix it constantly.

I loved the app, especially in android phones, it has lots of nice feature, we even got the monthly subscription. We recently switched to iPhone and the app has so many bugs it is frustrating. We cannot edit our playlists, app goes rogue amongst other things. Wish Google would fix this.
latest version breaks volume control

The new version takes over the ios volume control with its own broken html widget. Now the volume goes down to zero in the app and won't come back up again. I guess we get to wait for the next update to listen to music on this service again. Thanks google!

They keep making "updates" for us to waste time installing but there are still many issues. When I want to remove a song from my playlist or switch the order of my playlist, the app will first show the changes I made and then literally go back to the way it was before. When I remove a song the song is still in the playlist.

when i started choir i really liked music. then i found Google Play Music. i love edm, rap, electro, hiphop, and Pop! Music has changed my life. my summer break is today and i got out of school at 12:30 am! i usually get out at 2:50. i was in 3rd grade but now im in 4th grade! thanks Google, and Apple!

This is the worst music app out there!! They’re charging the same prices as Spotify and Apple Music but nowhere near the same quality!! The layout is so confusing and not “on the go” user friendly. The thing that made me decide to finally give up on my EXTENSIVE, and carefully curated playlist, was that I couldn’t even download it to listen offline?? The songs take FOREVER to download even with amazing connection, and then when they do appear as “downloaded”... if you close the app and come back to it, all the recent downloads disappear?? This app is not worth the money!! You’re better off with Spotify or Apple Music or literally anything else.

I’m canceling and going to try another music subscription. The stations on here are rarely updated. There stations that are supposed to be current new music play songs that are from last year. I’m not paying for this.

I love google play music but I don’t like the song that come up on the radio and I don’t like and I have it full volume and I go into the app and it turns it down and then I try to turn it up and it displays this silly volume bar that doesn’t nothing and it angers me

Songza made great, human-curated radio stations. Google Play bought them out, trapped those stations on their frustrating and unusable app, and now I’ll never enjoy them again. Google’s favorite thing to do: buy awesome things and then break them.

I’m a recent convert to Apple Products, & was pretty bummed, because I thought I would have to part with my beloved Google products, such as Google Maps, Chrome, Play Music, etc Boy was I wrong! Very pleased that I can continue using these great services on another platform with no transferring issues whatsoever! All I have to do is sign in to my Google Account. Cheers!

When it works it’s great and it comes with access to YouTube Red (premium) and YouTube music; problem is it periodically drops everything from my library of the app. Your library may still exist on a desktop via a browser, but disappear from your phone or tablet. Not sure why Google hasn’t mastered some pretty basic db issues. I feel taken for granted and it might be time to give Apple Music a second look.

It is so frustrating using this crap. Always errors on playlists and music playlists barely update compared to Spotify. Got so fed up that I ditched this and went to YouTube music. Better functionality, music playlists and barely buggy.

The latest version of Google Play Music in iOS crashes and I get a message every time I start the app asking if I want to send anonymous crash reports. Yes...I do send anonymous crash reports with no fix in site. Come on Google! I pay for the music subscription...the least you could do is make sure the App works properly. May have to switch to Apple Music?

I generally like using the app for keeping my music in the cloud and only downloading what a portion of my library to my phone. However, recently the songs I have saved locally have been skipping, sometimes every 30 seconds! Google, please fix.

Since chrome won't play my google play radio stations on a tablet, I got google play app. Had the app open for a out one minute and already got hit with two long ads of duration over twenty seconds!! Google is getting like apple: too greedy and driving away customers. Good thing I was smart enough to keep my CDs! Goodbye adware like google play and spyware like apple itunes (look up mzstatic and mark monitor)!

I don't know what the problem is, but I have a google music subscription, and when I click download an album, the grey circle comes up, and the little sliver of orange indicating percentage downloaded appears. But the download never actually starts. It just sits there for weeks. And I can't restart it and get any different result. So when I want to listen to my downloaded only music, I miss out on a bunch of album. This is for an Iphone XR and whatever latest IOS is as of 5/30/19. Wish there was a fix for this.

Has variety of music and playlists for you to listen for your enjoyment. However, sometimes the home menu is the same repetitive music. Would love for the playlists to change every time I clicked on chill R&B or whatever category I chose, but still it is my only music player I do love it. And I get YouTube red with purchase. Means no ads. Thank goodness.

I’ve been using google play music premium for years now. I love the app... when it works. Every so often certain songs in my playlist will not play even when I download them for offline use. It’ll start with 2-3 songs not working then within a week or two half my playlist won’t play. It’ll be a solid minute of google play automatically skipping then it’ll finally play a song or it’ll just stop completely. Recently the problem has been clean versions of a song playing when EXPLICITLY the song has the explicit “E” on the song and parental advisory on the album cover. I am quite the opposite of PC so it throws me off when I hear clean versions. So if that’s all I can play then I will no longer be using this app. This is a cross platform issue that has been ongoing, as far as I know, since I started using the app. I use Android and IOS tech so I know it’s not my phone, tablet, or laptop. I’m tired of clearing the memory and redownloading all of my music (some of which I paid for before getting premium streaming and those songs still won’t play). Really google, figure out the problem. I’m seriously considering discontinuing my subscription and going back to the days of YouTube to mp3 and free music downloading apps which are “illegal” yet abundant and convenient. Like I said the app is great, but if I have to deal with these problems every few months, me and the family will save our few dollars.

The surprisingly great thing about Google Play Music is that is actually has amazing audio quality! I did a side by side comparison with Spotify and it was definitely noticeable. The algorithm seems to be great, too! I hear a great variety when compared with other music streaming platforms. Please don’t cancel this service in order to transition to YouTube Music! At least improve YouTube Music to at least be as good as Google Play Music first...

When I first got this app I really liked it, because of its variety and recommendations when you like certain songs, but then all of the sudden I cannot play all the songs on my ‘thumbs up’ playlist. Specifically I can only play the songs I bought... Why have a thumbs up playlist if you can only play the songs you bought? I am really disappointed because I still like some aspects of this app, however this issue kind of ruined it for me.

For a company like google this streaming service is honestly disappointing. A laggy interface and a confusing and useless layout makes it hard to use and hard to get used to. It has limited sharing features and playlist sharing is better not attempted. Needless to say I’m happy to be switching services.

I used to really love the Songza app, and I was really hoping Google could make a good thing great, but I’m so disappointed with Google’s attempt at a music app. On my iPhone 7 the app constantly locks up and stops playing music. The free version has way to many commercials and most of them are for new music on YouTube. Some of the music they advertise is horrible and encourages me to just stop using the app. There are so many better products out there. Google should have just stuck with what Songza was doing.

This app really is only useful for listening. Playlists are impossible. When you reorder them or delete a song, it appears correct until you click done and then it’ll move/delete the wrong songs. If you don’t have a computer or Android device to make playlists on then don’t even bother trying this service. Some songs are clipped weird so you hear the intro to other song s at the ending several of my favorite CDs aren’t even on here. Overall, it’s trash.

I have both Apple Music and Tidal that’s free with my plan. So I own all three music platforms and enjoy all of them for different reasons. If I had to choose between the three I’d go with Google play. I’ll explain. I’m a dog walker in NYC so my day consists of listening mostly to music and podcasts. With the Google play YouTube red combo I have a bunch of variety and can not only listen to music but to virtually anything I can find on YouTube. With tidal and Apple Music I notice that after I finish searching my go to songs I feel so lost about what to listen to next. Granted apple and tidal both have hip hop playlist but god they just consist of whatever’s out now. Google play is basically all playlist with the option to search songs, i get variety and they are soo good at keeping a vibe unlike what I found with the others. I’ve been put on to most of the songs I like now by google play music and it gets mixed in with goodies but oldies. Keep it up guys Ed from the Bx NYC

I’ve had this app for a couple years now and really like it. However, the last month or so, it decides sometimes that my phone doesn’t have enough storage to stream music? I even check and I have multiple gigs left. It also likes to play and ad when I go to a station (which isn’t the bad part), play two songs and then freeze on the next ad. I then try to go to another station or close out and re-open the app and it just doesn’t work for the rest of the day sometimes.

When I first used the app, it worked perfectly, but when I started adding more and more songs, the app started wigging out. Now, I have to delete a song under the song to delete the song I originally planned to remove. Confusing, right? And my songs went completely out of the order I had first placed them in. Me having OCD doesn’t help this situation very much. The music still plays very well and the shuffle option is accurate...? Is that the word to use? Anyway, please check these things out and the app will be perfect.

Had this app since it was songza. Love it for workouts but lately it freezes up every time it gets to a commercial. Only way to get I going again is to exit, close out the app and restart the more you do this though you get an add after every song, so it freezes after every song and you have to go through the restart after each song. Hope thy fix this soon.
New “Update” is a Downgrade

The new update that puts Top Songs and Albums above Library is a downgrade. Please make an option to turn those off. I only want/use the Library. This adds extra scrolling and confusion while driving. Also would be awesome if the explicit version of a song was the default. Can’t stand the forced censorship of my uploaded songs. At least give me the option when uploading. Also this app is loads better than the Youtube Music app, so please stop the change over to that.

The last update was 6 months ago and I’ve been giving my feedback every time there’s an issue. This app is not stable. If you click on a banner notification, the app crashes. If you give a song a thumbs up, then open ANY other app, the app crashes. And, if that wasn’t bad enough, the thumbs up doesn’t sync right. I will play my thumbs up playlist and it won’t show that I gave it a thumbs up. If I start a radio station it won’t show which ones I liked, so naturally I’ll click on the thumbs up just to make sure it’s on the list, only to find out I’ve inadvertently REMOVED hundreds of songs from my thumbs up playlist. If it wasn’t for the family plan Google offers I’d jump ship faster than you can google “jump ship.”

I would like to see CrossFade. Spotify and Tidal are the only ones I’ve come across. I love it. However, they don’t have all the latest music like Google play music and that goes for 🍎. Please bring CrossFade and I will title excellent. Also five stars. I also love YouTube Music.

I love Google Play Music for it's integration with everything I own but it gets a 1 star for now due to how broken Apple Carplay is and how unsafe it is to use Google Play Music. When you first launch it, it displays just a black screen saying Getting Music and then either stays black or says Null. You then need to unplug your phone and plug it back in to get it to display properly. This is obviously very unsafe to fumble with the cord and phone just to get your music started.

I like the different genre groupings. My biggest problem with it is, most of the time, when an ad is supposed to come on, it just stops playing, and I have to close down the app and reopen it.

The app really needs to be updated and cleaned up. Many artists have multiple copies of albums cluttering their page so it’s tough to find content you want or even the specific album instance you may have locally downloaded. The interface should allow more gestures to act as controls such as swiping to go back to a previous screen. It would also be nice to control how items display (tiles, list) on different pages. Also some functionality like sharing playlists would be amazing-even if it was limited to others on your family account. At the end of the day, it gets the job done but it could be improved greatly and would make it an unbeatable service when also considering the family plan pricing.

It was just fine before but now it forces me to hard reset my entire phone just to listen to music, and sometimes it does it AGAIN after only allowing me to listen to one song. It keeps telling me that it can't play any music because I don't have any storage space, I do, and I don't understand why it NEEDS storage space for songs I am STREAMING from the internet.

Does not work like it’s supposed to supports solution uninstall and install again but apple simply restores old version why not just make an app that works with out me having to pull out the cartridge and blow on it for it function properly. Generally great for music, it’s really the only music app I use, with Spotify as a distant second. The only reason I’m unsatisfied is that it doesn’t have a podcast feature for Apple products, like it does for Samsung.

I guys lied when you told me that google play music had an equalizer almost exactly like some android devices do but the thing is that you guys still lied to me after you told me that both Android and Apple device supported the equalizer so I come to find out that apparently the google play music app for apple does not have the equalizer so where’s it at then? Been using google play music for a few years now. It hasn’t caught up to the completion. It won’t even correctly fetch what recently played songs/albums were. Good - plays artists playing near me, which is useful. Good selection of Indian/Bollywood music but I’ve seen quite a few popular tracks missing by American artists

I absolutely love his service from Google it really is great for true audiophiles. The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is the lack of more features on iOS. Now I’m not an app developer so my opinion may not have much weight, but would be absolutely amazing to see the ability to thumbs up and down songs via the lock screen. Maybe take advantage of some 3D Touch? Also please add the ability to move around songs in the queue like on Android. Other than that this app is pretty good.

Few days ago if an ad tries plays on google play my whole app freezes and I have to go out and back in to get my music to play again. Which is annoying when you’re on a stair master or lifting weights.

When changing songs (regardless of the song ending and the next one starts or if I choose it myself) some songs won’t play at all. Some songs start playing but there is no sound.

This app used to work perfectly for me. But recently it started not displaying whatever was playing on my home screen. You know like when my phones locked. And then if I try to pause it with my headphones it pauses and then starts playing iTunes music. I would use iTunes music but I don’t have many songs downloaded. And it did it a little here and there but today when I’ve been using it, it won’t stop doing that and when I swipe out of the app and open it again it works for a second and then just keeps doing it.

I do not like not to be able to know which mix of any given song I am listening to. It truncates the name of the songs and when that song has many versions, I can’t tell which one I am listening to.

It’s good but it doesn’t play music that I was looking for. For example, if I want to listen to a music called Sunflower by Post Malone and Swae Lee, it doesn’t actually play that music. So please fix this.

The organization for the app is a bit confusing and feels less user friendly than other apps. There are multiple ways to navigate the app but can be confusing when you first start using it. It’s a good app, but I think alternative music apps are better. The main issue that I have is when I add songs to My Library, many of the recently released songs/albums end up getting deleted. Does anyone else have this issue? There’s no way for me of knowing which dogs were removed from my library until I end up searching randomly for that song because I want to listen to it. Not sure if it is a licensing issue of some sort, but it consistently happens to me. We have a family plan, and everyone on our plan has experienced the same thing. One of our users only had about 25 songs in their library, and after a month, it was reduced to 3 songs. If you have a large library of saved songs you like, you’ll never know it gets removed until you search for it. Personally, I like to just shuffle all my songs in My Library when I’m driving or working, so I never really know when songs get removed. But I occasionally wonder why certain songs don’t get played. I later discover why after I search for the song and see that it was removed from my library.

Keeping it short and sweet, the app works pretty well overall. The only issue I run into is with CarPlay and this app. While the music works fine, you can access all your playlists, etc., two bugs are present. The first is that it doesn’t always show my “Now Playing”. When I click on it sometimes it just sits there at the same screen and freezes, never going to now playing. If I reboot the Google Play Music app or the phone itself, then it usually fixes itself and shows the “Now Playing” screen with what Google Play Music is playing. The bigger issue, however, is whenever I am using the Google Play Music app I lose all functionality for Siri through CarPlay. The icon of Siri shows up if I activate it, but you can’t speak and have it recognize your voice. Once Siri “beeps” so you know to start talking, no matter what you say it doesn’t recognize your voice and just sits there. Then, it stops the voice input thing and goes right back to the song that was playing. It’s quite frustrating/annoying. The moment you leave the app and go into, say, Apple Music or something else it works fine. It’s only when you are using Google Play Music and music is playing. Please fix this and it goes to 5 stars :).

Great service. Terrible iOS app. It fundamentally can't play music reliably even when the music is downloaded on the phone I.e. not streaming. The app's been buggy for some time. It used to be better but has steadily deteriorated. I waited patiently for this new release and the longer it took to arrive the more hopeful I was that they'd fix it but this release seems at least as bad as the last. For a company such resources this seems like an amateurish attempt at an iOS app. Or someone is trying to make it terrible on purpose so that I switch to Apple Music. I wonder what the product manager and QA team are up to when their app can't even play a song all the way through? Downloaded songs will stop playing even in offline mode - just today a downloaded song stopped 4 times. Again, these are songs that are on my phone not streaming. It's mostly a mystery why songs stop but at least some have to do with the radio environment. Any time the cellular radio switches mode or the phone switches to wifi the song stops. In NYC it's a busy radio environment with frequency cell handover, and forget using this app on the subway - even in "Dowwnload only" mode. On wifi at home it mostly works but that's not when I need it to work. My gramophone has that use case covered. Super disappointing that this release didn't address the long standing playback issues.

Play Music is and always will be the only music app I ever use. It’s always worked how it needs to and is simple to use, with great quality content. BUT, I don’t know if it’s just the iOS app, but it seems like it gets buggier after every update. I have a lot of problems when I’m trying to use the app with my google home. Most of the time it won’t even connect to it when I want to cast music. When I try to delete a song from a playlist, it instead deletes a different one that’s a couple songs up and the one I originally tried to delete stays there, and I can’t get rid of it. And something I noticed today, if I try to select ‘play next’ on a song while I’m listening to music, it stops the music completely and a whole other song from a completely different playlist is selected and shows up on the screen. AND now when I listen to a playlist on shuffle, it plays one song, and then the music stops after that and doesn’t continue playing the rest of the playlist. It seems like the more you try to fix something that doesn’t need fixing, the worse the app gets.

I love the Play Music app way more than iTunes or Apple Music. I have use Google play and play music for a long time. But once I got a new vehicle with the CarPlay actually or feature the Google play music has quite often caused issues. Whether it was now playing this song or delaying to be pulled up in the app or stating there is not connection when trying to pull up playlist. Majority of the time I am using my actual phone to start play music from a playlist or simply the library. I have seen other reviews with the same response, so I know I am not the only one. I’m sure part of the reason is because I am using an Apple phone with google play music. But also using the CarPlay feature seems to support more iPhone features than Google features. Even still I would prefer to use Google play music rather than the Apple Music. Excited for when there has been and update sent out for this issue to be resolved. Honestly, this is the only reason for a 3 star rating. It’s pretty important! Removing that dilemma; EASILY A 5 STAR RATING.!.!

Okay, I’m still using this service. But, gotta say, this really sucked major time, and support was absolutely no help at all. Spent an eternity on the phone to be told there was nothing to be done except to download everything all over again. My library was emptied completely of all music except for one artist and one song by one other artist, which I consider completely unacceptable!!! I had a massive accumulation of music and I use music A LOT, for many things, including work and travel. Getting all my favorites again is going to take a lot of time and I’m really angry about this situation and how it was handled. I feel like reaching out for help was a waste of time, and even worse, if you’re going to offer a service, make sure that something this major DOES NOT HAPPEN. I understand technology has bugs, and I would have probably been more patient and understanding if they at least acknowledged the problem and were working on a solution, but I was essentially told that it was a situation they were not familiar with, and I was responsible for it myself. Really??!!??!!

Google Play Music has a great selection of tracks and radios stations to choose from, and should have more than enough to suit anyone’s musical tastes. Additionally, audio quality is not a problem, each song sounds crystal clear, despite being a given more often than not for music streaming services. However, there are many little nuances in the UI that bogs down the whole experience. Searching through menus feels choppy, and even delayed at times, as if the app as a whole is unoptimized for iOS. Even worse, is how power-hungry it is. Every time I open the app to switch to another album, or playlist, I find my phone lose several percent within minutes of just using it. However this power consumption issue does not occur during background use, thankfully. Overall, this app feels clunky, and no amount of UI changes, or additions will change that until Google fixes the optimization issues within the app. At best, the app works like any music-streaming service. At worst, it is a choppy, power-hungry mess that’s sure to frustrate any user.

I had this app on my phone, on my iPhone, while it was still in iOS app. Don’t ask me to remember the name of the app, I just remember receiving an email that it was going to be Google play as of January 1 and again don’t ask me what year it was either😊 I love the way Google play place through my speakers, while I’m in the car. I have a 2006 Honda Civic, so as you can imagine some of my speakers don’t work. But listening to this app, instead of fruit named applications, Google play definitely takes the cake. The only thing I would change is that, if you would just start the radio station with the person, persons, group, act whatever.... start the song someone is REQUESTING FIRST. They are requesting that SONG that particular TIME and for a PARTICULAR REASON (NEEDED it THEN)and most of the time, they don’t even get to hear the song the request that started the station.....!And that is a BUMMER!!

How does a company with so much smarts get this soooo wrong!! I don't want to listen to someone else's playlist or mix! The internet allows me to ditch radio--why else would I invest the time uploading the music I bought?? I suppose pushing new music to me is the deal you had to make with the record industry robber-barons. Ok, I'll cut you slack there. But I can't forgive this abysmal iPhone user interface. To be forced to scroll through those useless bubble images to find an artist is downright user-antagonistic! When I am looking at My Library, I can see a grand total of 4 artists or albums per screen. When I click an artist, I can only see the first two (2) of their albums because the top half of the screen is showing me a picture of the band it pulled from somewhere. I don't need pictures! Album covers are awesome when they are a foot square and made of real cardboard. They are decidedly not awesome when reduced to a postage stamp to fit on a 2" x 4" display. A simple text listing is all that is needed (think original iPod). It's faster and more elegant. Really hope someone is listening.

This is really the only music app I use. I, personally, like how it works, but that's because I've been using it for years. It's not the same for a new user; the layout is easy to get confused with. I have had to deal with issues with deleting songs from my playlists. Trying to delete one song will delete the song one, two, sometimes even three songs above it. It comes and goes, but it's still a reoccurring problem that I've had for the longest time, and when it comes around, I often lose songs for good, because there's no way I could keep track of all 300 of them. And, though I have 300 songs, I may end up listening to some more than others because the Shuffle option isn't that great. Play Music is also pretty buggy-- the panels that come up for adding songs will sometimes jump across the screen. Speaking of, I do wish that there was an option to simply add a bunch of songs to a playlist all at once rather than one by one.

I’ve been insanely loyal to google play music for a good deal of years now, always thought the expense was worth every penny. But since switching to an iPhone it’s been an absolute nightmare. Even though I’m set up for reoccurring payments it keeps switching me to a free based account and completely deleting everything I’ve downloaded from the past few years from my library with no discernible way to get any of it back. Renewing my subscription was a serious task as no matter what I’d do to update or search through the app, it gave 0 ways to let me pay for a subscription! I do not own a computer so had to get a friend to lend me theirs. After double checking it would be a reoccurring payment, it turned out the next month the same thing happened and I’m traveling abroad and so have 0 access to a computer. Not only that I can’t even purchase individual albums or songs. Before this the app glitched and refused to download any new music, while I still had my subscription. Definitely going to switch to a different streaming service, this is ridiculous.

So i just got this app, and i think its amazing! But (this problem also might be because i just started using it) when i play songs and i “favorite” them or whatever they go into a playlist (obviously) so i thought if i did that to all the songs i want to listen to later i could just do that, but the problem is I can’t. It won’t let me hit the play button and if i hit the song, this thing comes up saying something like “do u want to start a radio with songs related to (insert songs title here)” but it won’t let me listen to the song i want. Secondly, when i go to the search bar thing to search for a select song, they come up as “radios” and not the song itself. All i want is to be able to search and find the song i want, “favorite it” and listen to it later. Other then that, its a really good app I recommend it!

I love this app for my music. It’s the only one i use. However, there are so many bugs that it’s getting unbearable. First, when i try to delete a song from a playlist, it instead deletes one above it and leaves the one i tried to delete in the first place. Second, it tends to be somewhat slow and unresponsive at times, but that’s unclear if it’s the app’s fault or just my phone messing up. Third, opening and closing the app makes the music stop playing for several seconds. There are many more small issues with the app that aren’t as important to mention. The reason why i am writing this review in the first place is because i opened the app this morning to find over 2/3 of my entire saved library gone. The music that got removed is still available on the app itself, but is no longer in my library. I have no clue how this happened but i’m very upset that i now have to go through and download all of them again.

1) This app isn’t attractive in the way that other music platforms are. 2) It can be confusing the use when you first start. It’s not a very user-friendly interface 3) IT CRASHES A LOT. If I play a song and leave the app, it stops for a while then picks up again and stays okay as long as I don’t open the app again. If I do, the app crashes totally. Occasionally (like today) the songs kept breaking briefly (for about a second to three seconds at a time). This app has been crashing for almost as long as I’ve been using it. I got a new phone and things were good for almost three months and recently (a week or so ago), I had to start using that work-around where I don’t open the app a second time to avoid crashing. I honestly much prefer the web player. It’s more attractive and doesn’t crash.
This quality of this app has continually degraded as I have used it since 2016

It shows a random assortment of songs playlists and artists, some of which you may not have touched in the last year. Furthermore, they often don’t appear as search suggestions, even if it’s literally the song that was last entered in the search (say like 10 seconds ago). Additionally, as noted, features that did exist have disappeared. I used to be able to “Identify what’s playing” a la Shazam via the search field. That of course was too useful so it was removed. I’m very unhappy with the implementation of this software on this platform, and I certainly have stopped recommending it. There has been little to zero incentive presented in recent months to continue paying for this service when the existing iTunes software is clearly better equipped and whose functionality is generally superior.

Honestly, you guys have the best algorithm for finding similar musicians and the ability to have radio stations based off a single song is pretty awesome, but come on guys you’re one of the largest tech companies in the world and you don’t updated your app in over 3 months. There’s more than enough bugs to warrant an update. For one, I can’t even stream from this app to my Chromecast audio. It just never works. Also for whatever reason half of my thumbs up playlist disappears mid-stream when I go from Wi-fi to LTE. I have feeling that this has to do with beef with Apple, but honestly that’s no excuse. I pay for a premium membership and seemingly simple problems like this should be fixed. Also an Apple TV app would be nice or at least have the ability to display album artwork when streaming would be appreciated.

I love this app and have been paying the $10 for about 4 years now. I feel it’s the best app available and worth the money. Only issue I have is when I change music in playlist or radio, It keeps skipping songs and I have to go back 3-4 times because it keeps trying to skip until I get message prompting me to “try again” then it works. It gets annoying when I’m just surfing for something good. It’s not my service cuz I have full bars and internet and still a problem. I’m sure it has to do with buffering and streaming and not being downloaded but it does get old!! Other than that.. the app itself has all the music I need and want! I always suggest google play!

Love the app in general works well most the time, but many times when trying to play music of my phone to my google home group in the house, it will kick the BT connection off and not allow a connection, i have fixed this issue temp. By deleting the app and reinstalling, but it happens randomly, the other on is just a preference thing, all the YT thumbs up symbols are on the right and thumbs down is on the left except this app, and it throws me off, when i hit the TD button instead of TU. Also on the phone its much easier to click TU on the right considering u mostly have the phone held one handed. Thanks for all the other updates across all your platforms, The Goliath company has become one of my favorites, specially after the google Home, i have one is every room. Update: Had to bring it down to one star, as all my songs are Gone from my playlists. This is unacceptable for such a company as google.

It’s a good music app! Can download for offline and all the yada-yada. But there are 3 things that annoy me: 1) Sometimes I’ll download a single from an album but then a little while later download the whole album. It doesn’t download the single(s) I already download and instead creates separate albums; 1 for the singles and 1) for the rest of the album. So I have the same album separated into 2 separate albums. 2) NEED to filter out the censored content. C’mon now! Nothing worse than listening to the censored version except maybe unknowingly downloading the censored version and being unable to fix it 3) This is perhaps the most annoying, but when I delete songs from a playlist, it won’t delete the song I swipe to delete. It will delete either the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd song above the song I select. It completely baffles me

This app I deleted off my phone. I got this app so I could stream my music offline. I was going on a trip, the trip was about a two hour long ride. I downloaded the app to stream my music, and I searched up a song I liked. The problem was I went under all categories I could find and couldn’t fine my music. All I could find was radio stations. I found this app from my friend who owns a Samsung and already had this app on her phone. I own a IPhone 6+ and decided that I would try this app. It sounded good because my friend and I would listen to the music together. The music played fine and she had tons of music on there. That is why I downloaded it. I don’t have the app anymore. I am going to try the app again, but I’m sure it still won’t work. Still a great app for Samsung’s.

This app is my preferred method of streaming music but it is not elegant or refined at all. For example, album artwork does not fit the screen, it is zoomed for some reason when you’re playing a song from that album which just looks weird. There is a playlist of songs recently added to your library however no matter how many songs i’ve just added, the playlist never updates. Songs have randomly disappeared from my library. Some songs stop/start playing halfway through, others don’t play at all. I think some added features could be useful, such as the ability to look up lyrics. I have nothing to compare this app to because i’ve never used another streaming service but I’d say this could definitely be improved upon.

I absolutely love this music player. I’ve been using it for years. It’s the only music player that I can put literally any song that I download on it. It can hold up to 50,000 songs, which is incredible because I have so many songs that I want to download but other music players just don’t hold more than 100. The only thing is I wish that the shuffler was better. I have so many songs on it, yet I still feel like it repeats songs over and over again. I’ve had some songs on the app for awhile that it has never played once and others that it has played like 10 times. The app overall is amazing. I just hope they can fix the shuffling problem.

I am a huge fan of the product moreso than the app. Having all of this great music at your fingertips is a blessing and at times a curse (how many playlists can one person create???) I find the one standout thing that bothers me most about this app (because it happens SO frequently) is the constant crashing. Start adding an album to your library and the app lags, if a song is playing it starts skipping, then app freezes and you must close to reboot. If a song is playing and you go to the search, it will sometimes freeze up and crash. Please perfect this app, find what is causing it to crash so often and eliminate it. Google Play Music is such an awesome service, but it becomes an issue when the app won't let you play it without incident.
Music Always Stops Playing

I want to like this app because of the features to have your own library plus access to streaming music that isn’t in your own collection. The problem is that many others have said already is the app CONSTANTLY stops playing music for no reason at all. This will happen regardless of what is going on. It can be a saved music file on your phone. It can be streaming when you have WiFi. It can happen all the time. And it does. This app is very glitchy and has scroll problems as well. The service itself is great and when using on a computer I have not experienced issues but this app is borderline useless unless you are ok with constantly hitting the pause/play button to try to get your music playing again. Crazy how Google can’t seem to get an app working that with a subscription costs $10 a month.

Edit few versions later: And this app is still being stupid, like nothing seems to be going right still no album work, it’s mind blowing that there is no album work even offline. This app used to be great, can’t lie I’m thinking of making the switch to Apple Music,I wonder if there app will be better than googles Old review- Still no fix, even updated the iOS 11, Well the app seems to no longer work properly, I can deal with most bugs but this one bothers me like no other. So when playing songs offline there seems to be a issue with viewing the album art while offline, it shows up just with a gray background but when I kick on the wifi the art comes back, even tried restoring my iPod and bam its the same issues all over again. Must be the app, also the files are playing are all offline. Google get to together.
Duplicates

My main gripe would be that duplicates of almost every album in my library appear. Sometimes in multiples of 5. This makes my library crazy unorganized. There are also many instances where complete albums are split into 2 albums. Fix these long standing issues and I may give you guys another try. ( update ) Here we are almost a year later and the duplicate album issue is still there. Why, and how can they not have fixed this by now? I’ve read on some Google Official help forums where mods want to place the blame on apple. If that’s the case then why isn’t this an issue with any other music app? I’ve tried them all. I’m using the app only because I have a large music library tied to it. I’m not happy about it at all though. My customer satisfaction level on the app itself is 0.

As of the current build, I cannot integrate the player with the built in controls on my iPhone. When I swipe up to control playback, my player is not available. Music will be playing, but I can not pause or skip. The same can be said for controlling playback on my headphones. This was not a problem with the previous build(s) I had installed. Dev Request: create a better way to report issues with the catalog. I had an instance where the names of the songs were correct, but the actual track played was incorrect. Feature request: create a way to do favorite album lists instead of having to add whole albums. Not sure how to articulate this, but it’d be nice to have a top 10 albums list to share.

Google Play- I want to love you, but you need to be fixed. I have been a loyal user of Google Play Music since it’s inception (or whenever it swallowed Songza) I love the interface, but it’s incredibly buggy. I purchased a subscription hoping that this would eliminate the glitches from using the free ad version where the music wouldn’t start after an ad played etc. The straw that broke the camel’s back was a particular Geico ad that would not only stop the music, but send my phone into some weird zombie state where I would have to hold one of the side buttons to wake it up and then close the window Geico had conveniently opened up for me in Safari. Very, very annoying. Now that I’ve chosen to make Google my subscription based music streaming platform of choice, you’d think it would work more seamlessly, especially considering the heavy competition. I certainly didn’t face any issues like this with Apple Music and I am starting to regret my decision to switch over. Now, to my current gripe- this app can’t seem to stop glitching when I bring it up from the background to say, change the station, etc. Google should be able to deliver a seamless experience to paying users. Maybe they’re taking customers like me for granted.

I love the fact that I can access my songs from anywhere with Google Play Music, however this is diminished by the fact that whenever I’m connected to Bluetooth or chromecast, skipping songs is a nightmare, even with a fast internet connection. The app stutters and randomly pauses my music and sometimes skips more than one song. Also, when changing songs, it temporarily stops playing audio to the Bluetooth device even though the song is definitely playing. These functions work normally when using headphones or just playing on the phones built in speaker. So, overall, a useful app, but needs some fine tuning in Bluetooth, skipping, and smooth playback.

So the app works fine. I love the google play service. Had it for years. But with this most recent I’ve noticed an incredibly annoying bug. Whenever I’m trying to edit the queue to shift songs around, the app crashes. And sometimes if I try to add something to my queue via the “play next” feature, mainly with radios, it’ll add the song to the queue, but it won’t be next. It’ll add it to the top of the queue. Which means the song won’t play in the radio. Also it won’t let me move when I try to edit the queue because it’ll crash if I do. Please fix this. It’s my favorite music app and this kinda makes it annoying to use.

Google play music is great as an app by itself. The radio station and playlist has some of the best recommendations. Compared to Its competitors this really lacks with Apple Car Play. If you hear a song you like you can’t thumbs up or add it to your library through Apple Car Play. Also, the Car Play is very buggy it freezes on almost every trip. The music still plays but I’ll usually have to force close the app on my phone and restart for it to show on Car Play. Sometimes even restarting the app doesn’t work so just have to deal with no Car Play. If Car Play worked as intended, and have better user functionality to add music to the library this would be 5 Stars.

They should call it Google Pause. Unfortunately this music app has a lot of finicky bugs—never syncs properly with Microsoft Sync in the car; almost always crashes now when playing a song and the app is opened to either change the song or ‘like’ or ‘unlike’ a song. If you’re using Google Maps in tandem with the music app (like a road trip), the two hate each other and LTE will become bogged down trying to stream data to the two, resulting in either a phone crash or app crash, or both. Too many issues to actually enjoy listening to melodies. The biggest issue faced is the music freezing every time you open the app, switch to a different app, or are entertaining guests.

There's a lot I love about Google Music: I love the organization, stations, "playing near you" feature, etc., but none of that matters much with the fact that hundreds of songs disappear daily from my Thumbs Up library. I'm pretty serious about my music and I've been cultivating this list for a few years, so to have it drain away every time I open the app is disheartening to say the least. To be fair, if I uninstall and reinstall the app, all my music comes back, so it hasn't completely disappeared into the ether (whew!), but who honestly has the time/inclination to go through all that every time they want to hear some music? I'd recommend finding another app. Everything about this one is great, but this is a big enough problem to take your business elsewhere.

First off I love the variety of radio stations available. This app probably has the most sub-genres compared to other apps. Audio quality is also very good. I would love to be able to download single songs and not entire albums. Sure, I could make a playlist and download it later. But I feel like that's an unnecessary extra step or two. Why not just have the download option available for each track like most other apps offer? Unfortunately, this one lacking feature is enough for me to unsubscribe to the paid service. If they offer this in the future, I might come back to this app

This app has great aesthetics, is really easy to navigate, and has all the music you want. However, if I try and skip more than two songs, the icon on my lock screen disappears, and I have to unlock my phone and open the app, click “try again” and then skip the song. Terribly inconvenient. If someone else is sharing your account, aka you’re using more than one of your allowed 6 devices, then the app will pause and give an error message. Imagine losing music in the middle of your workout just because your family member wanted to hear some Lil Uzi. Very frustrating.

For some reason my library is refusing to sync across my devices. I've tried everything only to find that my libraries on my iPad, iPhone, and laptop are all different from one another. Why? That doesn't make any sense. A lot of music also keeps getting removed from my libraries for no reason. I'll add music from a particular artist via the Play Music's catalog, only to find all their songs removed from my library the next time I open the app or site. They're still available, they're just no longer in my library for whatever reason. And why does uploading previously owned music result in Play Music deleting your entire library except for the uploaded content? I wanted to expand my library, not replace the entire thing

I’ve had this app for a while and I am just now having bug problems. When I go to add songs to my library, instead of adding them to the top of the playlist, it adds them onto the bottom. I tried making a new playlist and I cooperated for a bit, and then did the same as before. I also tried to delete a song off of a playlist because I had it on there twice, and it won’t let me delete either. I have also tried moving songs around on the playlist, and they never stay in the spot that I put them in. I used to love this app but now I’m looking into other ones.

The last update was 6 months ago and I’ve been giving my feedback every time there’s an issue. This app is not stable. If you click on a banner notification, the app crashes. If you give a song a thumbs up, then open ANY other app, the app crashes. And, if that wasn’t bad enough, the thumbs up doesn’t sync right. I will play my thumbs up playlist and it won’t show that I gave it a thumbs up. If I start a radio station it won’t show which ones I liked, so naturally I’ll click on the thumbs up just to make sure it’s on the list, only to find out I’ve inadvertently REMOVED hundreds of songs from my thumbs up playlist. If it wasn’t for the family plan Google offers I’d jump ship faster than you can google “jump ship.”

Ugh google play music makes the best random playlists! They are literally FIRE! Pick any song you want to listen to and on the right hand side click and look for “start insta mix.” From your entire music collection, google will find the best songs that are most similar to the song you’ve chosen and create a random playlist for you to listen to. No other music app does it. It’s google play’s best feature. It has the best algorithm for pairing similar songs from any other music app!

When I first used the app, it worked perfectly, but when I started adding more and more songs, the app started wigging out. Now, I have to delete a song under the song to delete the song I originally planned to remove. Confusing, right? And my songs went completely out of the order I had first placed them in. Me having OCD doesn’t help this situation very much. The music still plays very well and the shuffle option is accurate...? Is that the word to use? Anyway, please check these things out and the app will be perfect.

This rarely happened before but now it’s happening more frequently. I would just be listening to music and suddenly almost all of my songs in my “thumbs up” or other playlists disappear, only leaving several songs in there. I would try and restart my phone or refresh the app but it doesn’t work, so the only option I have is to continuously deleting the app and redownloding it. The songs do come back but I’d have to redownload all of the songs again to listen to them offline. My internet is perfectly fine and it also happens when I’m using data.

I love this app because it offers a lot of music and features for an awesome price, but there is a bug that has never seemed to be fixed and it has to do with playlists. Whenever I make a playlist and organize it, after I click done and wait a few minutes, it will move certain songs to other parts of the playlist where I don’t want them. This may not bother everyone but it bothers me because I’m very organized and I can’t keep my playlists organized because they always change somehow.

I've had this app for about 5 years now. It works pretty well but I noticed about a year ago that I couldn't find my recently added music (which is how I would listen to my new favorite songs). That was one of my favorite features of the app and now (unless I add it to a playlist) I cannot find the songs I just added to my library...It's very annoying, I've actually considered cancelling my subscription because of it. This app has not been updated since I first download it back in 2013....Maybe bug fixes but that's it. I would like to see a difference in the app....please update it!!!

Problem: I’ve been trying to add songs that I like, but doing searches quickly while having music playing causes the app to slow down considerably and eventually crash. Feature wishlist: 1. Ability to follow artists - receive updates on new songs and view shared playlist. 2. Have an option on the artist profile page to view a list of all of the artist’s songs instead of just their top songs. Songs can be filtered by name, album, etc. It doesn’t make sense to click in and out of multiple albums to view all of an artist’s songs. 3. Improve search results. I appreciate it when you start typing and you’re given options in a drop down that matches what you are entering or provides the closest value to what you entered. For example, I typed in “Water Park Glimpses,” and got nothing until I clicked enter. It feels like with Google’s tech in search their music app should be able to provide accurate/similar results when searching for artists and music.

Love the app and have been using for over a year or maybe two now, but lately i have been running into this problem that when i want to delete something out of a playlist it deletes the song that is one or two above it. This frustrates me because then i have to figure out how to get the song deleted that i actually wanted to delete and add the new song back and on top of that remembering what song i deleted out of the many in my playlist l. If this bug is fix it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks You.

I’ve always used google music and never had a problem with it, but there are a few things that could be updated. For instance, when making a playlist you can add all the songs you want, but you’re not able to remove songs. Sometimes I’ll make a playlist then decide I don’t want a song on there but instead of removing it I would have to make a whole new playlist. Also, when on shuffle mode I’ve noticed songs will repeat even thought the entire playlist has not been played through. Other than that everything else is great

As many other reviews say, there is annoying glitches. For me, song audio stops playing even though it shows the song is still playing. It will do it when I’m downloading an album or if I enter the app. So I have to pause the downloads and play it again. If you wanted to start an album over from the end to the beginning, the first song will start but skip to almost the end and play. But the music selection is amazing. Layout is easy to use. Another thing is already downloading albums will show being re-downloaded. Sometimes clean and explicit version of albums will splice together forming double tracks. Great app but a lot of weird issues

Used to crash on my iPhone 7, and now crashes on my iPhone X. CarPlay performance has got progressively worse, and a quick search on the web shows that it's a widespread issue that Google has made no efforts to fix.

App was good for a while but now it freezes, stops playing my music, and when I go to hit play to start it again, it resumes playing but with the song sped up and a good octave above what it should sound like. You have to reset the app to fix it constantly.

I loved the app, especially in android phones, it has lots of nice feature, we even got the monthly subscription. We recently switched to iPhone and the app has so many bugs it is frustrating. We cannot edit our playlists, app goes rogue amongst other things. Wish Google would fix this.
latest version breaks volume control

The new version takes over the ios volume control with its own broken html widget. Now the volume goes down to zero in the app and won't come back up again. I guess we get to wait for the next update to listen to music on this service again. Thanks google!

They keep making "updates" for us to waste time installing but there are still many issues. When I want to remove a song from my playlist or switch the order of my playlist, the app will first show the changes I made and then literally go back to the way it was before. When I remove a song the song is still in the playlist.

This is the worst music app out there!! They’re charging the same prices as Spotify and Apple Music but nowhere near the same quality!! The layout is so confusing and not “on the go” user friendly. The thing that made me decide to finally give up on my EXTENSIVE, and carefully curated playlist, was that I couldn’t even download it to listen offline?? The songs take FOREVER to download even with amazing connection, and then when they do appear as “downloaded”... if you close the app and come back to it, all the recent downloads disappear?? This app is not worth the money!! You’re better off with Spotify or Apple Music or literally anything else.

Songza made great, human-curated radio stations. Google Play bought them out, trapped those stations on their frustrating and unusable app, and now I’ll never enjoy them again. Google’s favorite thing to do: buy awesome things and then break them.

I’m a recent convert to Apple Products, & was pretty bummed, because I thought I would have to part with my beloved Google products, such as Google Maps, Chrome, Play Music, etc Boy was I wrong! When it works it’s great and it comes with access to YouTube Red (premium) and YouTube music; problem is it periodically drops everything from my library of the app. Your library may still exist on a desktop via a browser, but disappear from your phone or tablet. Not sure why Google hasn’t mastered some pretty basic db issues. I feel taken for granted and it might be time to give Apple Music a second look.

Yes...I do send anonymous crash reports with no fix in site. Come on Google! I pay for the music subscription...the least you could do is make sure the App works properly. Since chrome won't play my google play radio stations on a tablet, I got google play app. Had the app open for a out one minute and already got hit with two long ads of duration over twenty seconds!! Google is getting like apple: too greedy and driving away customers. Good thing I was smart enough to keep my CDs! I don't know what the problem is, but I have a google music subscription, and when I click download an album, the grey circle comes up, and the little sliver of orange indicating percentage downloaded appears. But the download never actually starts. It just sits there for weeks. And I can't restart it and get any different result. So when I want to listen to my downloaded only music, I miss out on a bunch of album. This is for an Iphone XR and whatever latest IOS is as of 5/30/19. Wish there was a fix for this.

Has variety of music and playlists for you to listen for your enjoyment. However, sometimes the home menu is the same repetitive music. Would love for the playlists to change every time I clicked on chill R&B or whatever category I chose, but still it is my only music player I do love it. And I get YouTube red with purchase. I’ve been using google play music premium for years now. I love the app... when it works. Every so often certain songs in my playlist will not play even when I download them for offline use. It’ll start with 2-3 songs not working then within a week or two half my playlist won’t play. It’ll be a solid minute of google play automatically skipping then it’ll finally play a song or it’ll just stop completely. Recently the problem has been clean versions of a song playing when EXPLICITLY the song has the explicit “E” on the song and parental advisory on the album cover. I am quite the opposite of PC so it throws me off when I hear clean versions. So if that’s all I can play then I will no longer be using this app. This is a cross platform issue that has been ongoing, as far as I know, since I started using the app. I use Android and IOS tech so I know it’s not my phone, tablet, or laptop. I’m tired of clearing the memory and redownloading all of my music (some of which I paid for before getting premium streaming and those songs still won’t play). Really google, figure out the problem. I’m seriously considering discontinuing my subscription and going back to the days of YouTube to mp3 and free music downloading apps which are “illegal” yet abundant and convenient. Like I said the app is great, but if I have to deal with these problems every few months, me and the family will save our few dollars.

The surprisingly great thing about Google Play Music is that is actually has amazing audio quality! I did a side by side comparison with Spotify and it was definitely noticeable. The algorithm seems to be great, too! I hear a great variety when compared with other music streaming platforms. Please don’t cancel this service in order to transition to YouTube Music! At least improve YouTube Music to at least be as good as Google Play Music first...

I used to really love the Songza app, and I was really hoping Google could make a good thing great, but I’m so disappointed with Google’s attempt at a music app. On my iPhone 7 the app constantly locks up and stops playing music. The free version has way to many commercials and most of them are for new music on YouTube. Some of the music they advertise is horrible and encourages me to just stop using the app. There are so many better products out there. Google should have just stuck with what Songza was doing.

This app really is only useful for listening. Playlists are impossible. When you reorder them or delete a song, it appears correct until you click done and then it’ll move/delete the wrong songs. If you don’t have a computer or Android device to make playlists on then don’t even bother trying this service. Some songs are clipped weird so you hear the intro to other song s at the ending several of my favorite CDs aren’t even on here. Overall, it’s trash.

I have both Apple Music and Tidal that’s free with my plan. So I own all three music platforms and enjoy all of them for different reasons. If I had to choose between the three I’d go with Google play. I’ll explain. I’m a dog walker in NYC so my day consists of listening mostly to music and podcasts. With the Google play YouTube red combo I have a bunch of variety and can not only listen to music but to virtually anything I can find on YouTube. With tidal and Apple Music I notice that after I finish searching my go to songs I feel so lost about what to listen to next. Granted apple and tidal both have hip hop playlist but god they just consist of whatever’s out now. Google play is basically all playlist with the option to search songs, i get variety and they are soo good at keeping a vibe unlike what I found with the others. I’ve been put on to most of the songs I like now by google play music and it gets mixed in with goodies but oldies. Keep it up guys Ed from the Bx NYC

I’ve had this app for a couple years now and really like it. However, the last month or so, it decides sometimes that my phone doesn’t have enough storage to stream music? I even check and I have multiple gigs left. It also likes to play and ad when I go to a station (which isn’t the bad part), play two songs and then freeze on the next ad. I then try to go to another station or close out and re-open the app and it just doesn’t work for the rest of the day sometimes.

When I first used the app, it worked perfectly, but when I started adding more and more songs, the app started wigging out. Now, I have to delete a song under the song to delete the song I originally planned to remove. Confusing, right? And my songs went completely out of the order I had first placed them in. Me having OCD doesn’t help this situation very much. The music still plays very well and the shuffle option is accurate...? Is that the word to use? Anyway, please check these things out and the app will be perfect.

Had this app since it was songza. Love it for workouts but lately it freezes up every time it gets to a commercial. Only way to get I going again is to exit, close out the app and restart the more you do this though you get an add after every song, so it freezes after every song and you have to go through the restart after each song. Hope thy fix this soon.
New “Update” is a Downgrade

The new update that puts Top Songs and Albums above Library is a downgrade. Please make an option to turn those off. I only want/use the Library. This adds extra scrolling and confusion while driving. Also would be awesome if the explicit version of a song was the default. Can’t stand the forced censorship of my uploaded songs. At least give me the option when uploading. Also this app is loads better than the Youtube Music app, so please stop the change over to that.

The last update was 6 months ago and I’ve been giving my feedback every time there’s an issue. This app is not stable. If you click on a banner notification, the app crashes. If you give a song a thumbs up, then open ANY other app, the app crashes. And, if that wasn’t bad enough, the thumbs up doesn’t sync right. I will play my thumbs up playlist and it won’t show that I gave it a thumbs up. If I start a radio station it won’t show which ones I liked, so naturally I’ll click on the thumbs up just to make sure it’s on the list, only to find out I’ve inadvertently REMOVED hundreds of songs from my thumbs up playlist. If it wasn’t for the family plan Google offers I’d jump ship faster than you can google “jump ship.”

I would like to see CrossFade. Spotify and Tidal are the only ones I’ve come across. I love it. However, they don’t have all the latest music like Google play music and that goes for 🍎. Please bring CrossFade and I will title excellent. Also five stars. I also love YouTube Music.

I love Google Play Music for it's integration with everything I own but it gets a 1 star for now due to how broken Apple Carplay is and how unsafe it is to use Google Play Music. When you first launch it, it displays just a black screen saying Getting Music and then either stays black or says Null. You then need to unplug your phone and plug it back in to get it to display properly. This is obviously very unsafe to fumble with the cord and phone just to get your music started.

When I go to this app it’s amazing!!but the only problem is that it keeps saying my storage is full it is true I have a lot but when I delete it only lets me listen to one song and then delete more for more songs.And I deleted 120 PHOTOS and it STILL SAID I HAD TO MUCH PHOTOS at that point I had enough and wrote a 2 star and this review.😬😠😐

The app really needs to be updated and cleaned up. Many artists have multiple copies of albums cluttering their page so it’s tough to find content you want or even the specific album instance you may have locally downloaded. The interface should allow more gestures to act as controls such as swiping to go back to a previous screen. It would also be nice to control how items display (tiles, list) on different pages. Also some functionality like sharing playlists would be amazing-even if it was limited to others on your family account. At the end of the day, it gets the job done but it could be improved greatly and would make it an unbeatable service when also considering the family plan pricing.

It was just fine before but now it forces me to hard reset my entire phone just to listen to music, and sometimes it does it AGAIN after only allowing me to listen to one song. It keeps telling me that it can't play any music because I don't have any storage space, I do, and I don't understand why it NEEDS storage space for songs I am STREAMING from the internet.

Does not work like it’s supposed to supports solution uninstall and install again but apple simply restores old version why not just make an app that works with out me having to pull out the cartridge and blow on it for it function properly. Generally great for music, it’s really the only music app I use, with Spotify as a distant second. The only reason I’m unsatisfied is that it doesn’t have a podcast feature for Apple products, like it does for Samsung.

Been using google play music for a few years now. It hasn’t caught up to the completion. It won’t even correctly fetch what recently played songs/albums were. Good - plays artists playing near me, which is useful. Good selection of Indian/Bollywood music but I’ve seen quite a few popular tracks missing by American artists

I absolutely love his service from Google it really is great for true audiophiles. The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is the lack of more features on iOS. Now I’m not an app developer so my opinion may not have much weight, but would be absolutely amazing to see the ability to thumbs up and down songs via the lock screen. Maybe take advantage of some 3D Touch? Also please add the ability to move around songs in the queue like on Android. Other than that this app is pretty good.

Few days ago if an ad tries plays on google play my whole app freezes and I have to go out and back in to get my music to play again. Which is annoying when you’re on a stair master or lifting weights.

This app used to work perfectly for me. But recently it started not displaying whatever was playing on my home screen. You know like when my phones locked. And then if I try to pause it with my headphones it pauses and then starts playing iTunes music. I would use iTunes music but I don’t have many songs downloaded. And it did it a little here and there but today when I’ve been using it, it won’t stop doing that and when I swipe out of the app and open it again it works for a second and then just keeps doing it.

The organization for the app is a bit confusing and feels less user friendly than other apps. There are multiple ways to navigate the app but can be confusing when you first start using it. It’s a good app, but I think alternative music apps are better. The main issue that I have is when I add songs to My Library, many of the recently released songs/albums end up getting deleted. Does anyone else have this issue? There’s no way for me of knowing which dogs were removed from my library until I end up searching randomly for that song because I want to listen to it. Not sure if it is a licensing issue of some sort, but it consistently happens to me. We have a family plan, and everyone on our plan has experienced the same thing. One of our users only had about 25 songs in their library, and after a month, it was reduced to 3 songs. If you have a large library of saved songs you like, you’ll never know it gets removed until you search for it. Personally, I like to just shuffle all my songs in My Library when I’m driving or working, so I never really know when songs get removed. But I occasionally wonder why certain songs don’t get played. I later discover why after I search for the song and see that it was removed from my library.

Keeping it short and sweet, the app works pretty well overall. The only issue I run into is with CarPlay and this app. While the music works fine, you can access all your playlists, etc., two bugs are present. The first is that it doesn’t always show my “Now Playing”. When I click on it sometimes it just sits there at the same screen and freezes, never going to now playing. If I reboot the Google Play Music app or the phone itself, then it usually fixes itself and shows the “Now Playing” screen with what Google Play Music is playing. The bigger issue, however, is whenever I am using the Google Play Music app I lose all functionality for Siri through CarPlay. The icon of Siri shows up if I activate it, but you can’t speak and have it recognize your voice. Once Siri “beeps” so you know to start talking, no matter what you say it doesn’t recognize your voice and just sits there. Then, it stops the voice input thing and goes right back to the song that was playing. It’s quite frustrating/annoying. The moment you leave the app and go into, say, Apple Music or something else it works fine. It’s only when you are using Google Play Music and music is playing. Please fix this and it goes to 5 stars :).

Great service. Terrible iOS app. It fundamentally can't play music reliably even when the music is downloaded on the phone I.e. not streaming. The app's been buggy for some time. It used to be better but has steadily deteriorated. I waited patiently for this new release and the longer it took to arrive the more hopeful I was that they'd fix it but this release seems at least as bad as the last. For a company such resources this seems like an amateurish attempt at an iOS app. Or someone is trying to make it terrible on purpose so that I switch to Apple Music. I wonder what the product manager and QA team are up to when their app can't even play a song all the way through? Downloaded songs will stop playing even in offline mode - just today a downloaded song stopped 4 times. Again, these are songs that are on my phone not streaming. It's mostly a mystery why songs stop but at least some have to do with the radio environment. Any time the cellular radio switches mode or the phone switches to wifi the song stops. In NYC it's a busy radio environment with frequency cell handover, and forget using this app on the subway - even in "Dowwnload only" mode. On wifi at home it mostly works but that's not when I need it to work. My gramophone has that use case covered. Super disappointing that this release didn't address the long standing playback issues.

Play Music is and always will be the only music app I ever use. It’s always worked how it needs to and is simple to use, with great quality content. BUT, I don’t know if it’s just the iOS app, but it seems like it gets buggier after every update. I have a lot of problems when I’m trying to use the app with my google home. Most of the time it won’t even connect to it when I want to cast music. When I try to delete a song from a playlist, it instead deletes a different one that’s a couple songs up and the one I originally tried to delete stays there, and I can’t get rid of it. And something I noticed today, if I try to select ‘play next’ on a song while I’m listening to music, it stops the music completely and a whole other song from a completely different playlist is selected and shows up on the screen. AND now when I listen to a playlist on shuffle, it plays one song, and then the music stops after that and doesn’t continue playing the rest of the playlist. It seems like the more you try to fix something that doesn’t need fixing, the worse the app gets.

I love the Play Music app way more than iTunes or Apple Music. I have use Google play and play music for a long time. But once I got a new vehicle with the CarPlay actually or feature the Google play music has quite often caused issues. Whether it was now playing this song or delaying to be pulled up in the app or stating there is not connection when trying to pull up playlist. Majority of the time I am using my actual phone to start play music from a playlist or simply the library. I have seen other reviews with the same response, so I know I am not the only one. I’m sure part of the reason is because I am using an Apple phone with google play music. But also using the CarPlay feature seems to support more iPhone features than Google features. Even still I would prefer to use Google play music rather than the Apple Music. Excited for when there has been and update sent out for this issue to be resolved. Honestly, this is the only reason for a 3 star rating. It’s pretty important! Removing that dilemma; EASILY A 5 STAR RATING.!.!

Okay, I’m still using this service. But, gotta say, this really sucked major time, and support was absolutely no help at all. Spent an eternity on the phone to be told there was nothing to be done except to download everything all over again. My library was emptied completely of all music except for one artist and one song by one other artist, which I consider completely unacceptable!!! I had a massive accumulation of music and I use music A LOT, for many things, including work and travel. Getting all my favorites again is going to take a lot of time and I’m really angry about this situation and how it was handled. I feel like reaching out for help was a waste of time, and even worse, if you’re going to offer a service, make sure that something this major DOES NOT HAPPEN. I understand technology has bugs, and I would have probably been more patient and understanding if they at least acknowledged the problem and were working on a solution, but I was essentially told that it was a situation they were not familiar with, and I was responsible for it myself. Really??!!??!!

Google Play Music has a great selection of tracks and radios stations to choose from, and should have more than enough to suit anyone’s musical tastes. Additionally, audio quality is not a problem, each song sounds crystal clear, despite being a given more often than not for music streaming services. However, there are many little nuances in the UI that bogs down the whole experience. Searching through menus feels choppy, and even delayed at times, as if the app as a whole is unoptimized for iOS. Even worse, is how power-hungry it is. Every time I open the app to switch to another album, or playlist, I find my phone lose several percent within minutes of just using it. However this power consumption issue does not occur during background use, thankfully. Overall, this app feels clunky, and no amount of UI changes, or additions will change that until Google fixes the optimization issues within the app. At best, the app works like any music-streaming service. At worst, it is a choppy, power-hungry mess that’s sure to frustrate any user.

I had this app on my phone, on my iPhone, while it was still in iOS app. Don’t ask me to remember the name of the app, I just remember receiving an email that it was going to be Google play as of January 1 and again don’t ask me what year it was either😊 I love the way Google play place through my speakers, while I’m in the car. I have a 2006 Honda Civic, so as you can imagine some of my speakers don’t work. But listening to this app, instead of fruit named applications, Google play definitely takes the cake. The only thing I would change is that, if you would just start the radio station with the person, persons, group, act whatever.... start the song someone is REQUESTING FIRST. They are requesting that SONG that particular TIME and for a PARTICULAR REASON (NEEDED it THEN)and most of the time, they don’t even get to hear the song the request that started the station.....!And that is a BUMMER!!

How does a company with so much smarts get this soooo wrong!! I don't want to listen to someone else's playlist or mix! The internet allows me to ditch radio--why else would I invest the time uploading the music I bought?? I suppose pushing new music to me is the deal you had to make with the record industry robber-barons. Ok, I'll cut you slack there. But I can't forgive this abysmal iPhone user interface. To be forced to scroll through those useless bubble images to find an artist is downright user-antagonistic! When I am looking at My Library, I can see a grand total of 4 artists or albums per screen. When I click an artist, I can only see the first two (2) of their albums because the top half of the screen is showing me a picture of the band it pulled from somewhere. I don't need pictures! Album covers are awesome when they are a foot square and made of real cardboard. They are decidedly not awesome when reduced to a postage stamp to fit on a 2" x 4" display. A simple text listing is all that is needed (think original iPod). It's faster and more elegant. Really hope someone is listening.

This is really the only music app I use. I, personally, like how it works, but that's because I've been using it for years. It's not the same for a new user; the layout is easy to get confused with. I have had to deal with issues with deleting songs from my playlists. Trying to delete one song will delete the song one, two, sometimes even three songs above it. It comes and goes, but it's still a reoccurring problem that I've had for the longest time, and when it comes around, I often lose songs for good, because there's no way I could keep track of all 300 of them. And, though I have 300 songs, I may end up listening to some more than others because the Shuffle option isn't that great. Play Music is also pretty buggy-- the panels that come up for adding songs will sometimes jump across the screen. Speaking of, I do wish that there was an option to simply add a bunch of songs to a playlist all at once rather than one by one.

I’ve been insanely loyal to google play music for a good deal of years now, always thought the expense was worth every penny. But since switching to an iPhone it’s been an absolute nightmare. Even though I’m set up for reoccurring payments it keeps switching me to a free based account and completely deleting everything I’ve downloaded from the past few years from my library with no discernible way to get any of it back. Renewing my subscription was a serious task as no matter what I’d do to update or search through the app, it gave 0 ways to let me pay for a subscription! I do not own a computer so had to get a friend to lend me theirs. After double checking it would be a reoccurring payment, it turned out the next month the same thing happened and I’m traveling abroad and so have 0 access to a computer. Not only that I can’t even purchase individual albums or songs. Before this the app glitched and refused to download any new music, while I still had my subscription. Definitely going to switch to a different streaming service, this is ridiculous.

So i just got this app, and i think its amazing! But (this problem also might be because i just started using it) when i play songs and i “favorite” them or whatever they go into a playlist (obviously) so i thought if i did that to all the songs i want to listen to later i could just do that, but the problem is I can’t. It won’t let me hit the play button and if i hit the song, this thing comes up saying something like “do u want to start a radio with songs related to (insert songs title here)” but it won’t let me listen to the song i want. Secondly, when i go to the search bar thing to search for a select song, they come up as “radios” and not the song itself. All i want is to be able to search and find the song i want, “favorite it” and listen to it later. Other then that, its a really good app I recommend it!

I love this app for my music. It’s the only one i use. However, there are so many bugs that it’s getting unbearable. First, when i try to delete a song from a playlist, it instead deletes one above it and leaves the one i tried to delete in the first place. Second, it tends to be somewhat slow and unresponsive at times, but that’s unclear if it’s the app’s fault or just my phone messing up. Third, opening and closing the app makes the music stop playing for several seconds. There are many more small issues with the app that aren’t as important to mention. The reason why i am writing this review in the first place is because i opened the app this morning to find over 2/3 of my entire saved library gone. The music that got removed is still available on the app itself, but is no longer in my library. I have no clue how this happened but i’m very upset that i now have to go through and download all of them again.

1) This app isn’t attractive in the way that other music platforms are. 2) It can be confusing the use when you first start. It’s not a very user-friendly interface 3) IT CRASHES A LOT. If I play a song and leave the app, it stops for a while then picks up again and stays okay as long as I don’t open the app again. If I do, the app crashes totally. Occasionally (like today) the songs kept breaking briefly (for about a second to three seconds at a time). This app has been crashing for almost as long as I’ve been using it. I got a new phone and things were good for almost three months and recently (a week or so ago), I had to start using that work-around where I don’t open the app a second time to avoid crashing. I honestly much prefer the web player. It’s more attractive and doesn’t crash.

As said in title, in 2016 when I first started using this app it was truly great. Since then it has slowly but surely been reduced to the form that that it is now. Extraordinarily obvious aspects of customer satisfaction have either never been implemented or have existed previously and somehow were removed. For example: when you look in your Recents tab, it doesn’t show the songs you last listened to (in the order you listened to them). It shows a random assortment of songs playlists and artists, some of which you may not have touched in the last year. Furthermore, they often don’t appear as search suggestions, even if it’s literally the song that was last entered in the search (say like 10 seconds ago). Additionally, as noted, features that did exist have disappeared. I used to be able to “Identify what’s playing” a la Shazam via the search field. That of course was too useful so it was removed. I’m very unhappy with the implementation of this software on this platform, and I certainly have stopped recommending it. There has been little to zero incentive presented in recent months to continue paying for this service when the existing iTunes software is clearly better equipped and whose functionality is generally superior.

Honestly, you guys have the best algorithm for finding similar musicians and the ability to have radio stations based off a single song is pretty awesome, but come on guys you’re one of the largest tech companies in the world and you don’t updated your app in over 3 months. There’s more than enough bugs to warrant an update. For one, I can’t even stream from this app to my Chromecast audio. It just never works. Also for whatever reason half of my thumbs up playlist disappears mid-stream when I go from Wi-fi to LTE. I have feeling that this has to do with beef with Apple, but honestly that’s no excuse. I pay for a premium membership and seemingly simple problems like this should be fixed. Also an Apple TV app would be nice or at least have the ability to display album artwork when streaming would be appreciated.

I love this app and have been paying the $10 for about 4 years now. I feel it’s the best app available and worth the money. Only issue I have is when I change music in playlist or radio, It keeps skipping songs and I have to go back 3-4 times because it keeps trying to skip until I get message prompting me to “try again” then it works. It gets annoying when I’m just surfing for something good. It’s not my service cuz I have full bars and internet and still a problem. I’m sure it has to do with buffering and streaming and not being downloaded but it does get old!! Other than that.. the app itself has all the music I need and want! I always suggest google play!

Love the app in general works well most the time, but many times when trying to play music of my phone to my google home group in the house, it will kick the BT connection off and not allow a connection, i have fixed this issue temp. By deleting the app and reinstalling, but it happens randomly, the other on is just a preference thing, all the YT thumbs up symbols are on the right and thumbs down is on the left except this app, and it throws me off, when i hit the TD button instead of TU. Also on the phone its much easier to click TU on the right considering u mostly have the phone held one handed. Thanks for all the other updates across all your platforms, The Goliath company has become one of my favorites, specially after the google Home, i have one is every room. Update: Had to bring it down to one star, as all my songs are Gone from my playlists. This is unacceptable for such a company as google.
Fine but multiple bugs

It’s a good music app! Can download for offline and all the yada-yada. But there are 3 things that annoy me: 1) Sometimes I’ll download a single from an album but then a little while later download the whole album. It doesn’t download the single(s) I already download and instead creates separate albums; 1 for the singles and 1) for the rest of the album. So I have the same album separated into 2 separate albums. 2) NEED to filter out the censored content. C’mon now! Nothing worse than listening to the censored version except maybe unknowingly downloading the censored version and being unable to fix it 3) This is perhaps the most annoying, but when I delete songs from a playlist, it won’t delete the song I swipe to delete. It will delete either the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd song above the song I select. It completely baffles me

This app I deleted off my phone. I got this app so I could stream my music offline. I was going on a trip, the trip was about a two hour long ride. I downloaded the app to stream my music, and I searched up a song I liked. The problem was I went under all categories I could find and couldn’t fine my music. All I could find was radio stations. I found this app from my friend who owns a Samsung and already had this app on her phone. I own a IPhone 6+ and decided that I would try this app. It sounded good because my friend and I would listen to the music together. The music played fine and she had tons of music on there. That is why I downloaded it. I don’t have the app anymore. I am going to try the app again, but I’m sure it still won’t work. Still a great app for Samsung’s.

This app is my preferred method of streaming music but it is not elegant or refined at all. For example, album artwork does not fit the screen, it is zoomed for some reason when you’re playing a song from that album which just looks weird. There is a playlist of songs recently added to your library however no matter how many songs i’ve just added, the playlist never updates. Songs have randomly disappeared from my library. Some songs stop/start playing halfway through, others don’t play at all. I think some added features could be useful, such as the ability to look up lyrics. I have nothing to compare this app to because i’ve never used another streaming service but I’d say this could definitely be improved upon.

I absolutely love this music player. I’ve been using it for years. It’s the only music player that I can put literally any song that I download on it. It can hold up to 50,000 songs, which is incredible because I have so many songs that I want to download but other music players just don’t hold more than 100. The only thing is I wish that the shuffler was better. I have so many songs on it, yet I still feel like it repeats songs over and over again. I’ve had some songs on the app for awhile that it has never played once and others that it has played like 10 times. The app overall is amazing. I just hope they can fix the shuffling problem.

I am a huge fan of the product moreso than the app. Having all of this great music at your fingertips is a blessing and at times a curse (how many playlists can one person create???) I find the one standout thing that bothers me most about this app (because it happens SO frequently) is the constant crashing. Start adding an album to your library and the app lags, if a song is playing it starts skipping, then app freezes and you must close to reboot. If a song is playing and you go to the search, it will sometimes freeze up and crash. Please perfect this app, find what is causing it to crash so often and eliminate it. Google Play Music is such an awesome service, but it becomes an issue when the app won't let you play it without incident.
Music Always Stops Playing

I want to like this app because of the features to have your own library plus access to streaming music that isn’t in your own collection. The problem is that many others have said already is the app CONSTANTLY stops playing music for no reason at all. This will happen regardless of what is going on. It can be a saved music file on your phone. It can be streaming when you have WiFi. It can happen all the time. And it does. This app is very glitchy and has scroll problems as well. The service itself is great and when using on a computer I have not experienced issues but this app is borderline useless unless you are ok with constantly hitting the pause/play button to try to get your music playing again. Crazy how Google can’t seem to get an app working that with a subscription costs $10 a month.

Edit few versions later: And this app is still being stupid, like nothing seems to be going right still no album work, it’s mind blowing that there is no album work even offline. This app used to be great, can’t lie I’m thinking of making the switch to Apple Music,I wonder if there app will be better than googles Old review- Still no fix, even updated the iOS 11, Well the app seems to no longer work properly, I can deal with most bugs but this one bothers me like no other. So when playing songs offline there seems to be a issue with viewing the album art while offline, it shows up just with a gray background but when I kick on the wifi the art comes back, even tried restoring my iPod and bam its the same issues all over again. Must be the app, also the files are playing are all offline. Google get to together.
Duplicates

My main gripe would be that duplicates of almost every album in my library appear. Sometimes in multiples of 5. This makes my library crazy unorganized. There are also many instances where complete albums are split into 2 albums. Fix these long standing issues and I may give you guys another try. ( update ) Here we are almost a year later and the duplicate album issue is still there. Why, and how can they not have fixed this by now? I’ve read on some Google Official help forums where mods want to place the blame on apple. If that’s the case then why isn’t this an issue with any other music app? I’ve tried them all. I’m using the app only because I have a large music library tied to it. I’m not happy about it at all though. My customer satisfaction level on the app itself is 0.
Problematic

As of the current build, I cannot integrate the player with the built in controls on my iPhone. When I swipe up to control playback, my player is not available. Music will be playing, but I can not pause or skip. The same can be said for controlling playback on my headphones. This was not a problem with the previous build(s) I had installed. Dev Request: create a better way to report issues with the catalog. I had an instance where the names of the songs were correct, but the actual track played was incorrect. Feature request: create a way to do favorite album lists instead of having to add whole albums. Not sure how to articulate this, but it’d be nice to have a top 10 albums list to share.

Google Play- I want to love you, but you need to be fixed. I have been a loyal user of Google Play Music since it’s inception (or whenever it swallowed Songza) I love the interface, but it’s incredibly buggy. I purchased a subscription hoping that this would eliminate the glitches from using the free ad version where the music wouldn’t start after an ad played etc. The straw that broke the camel’s back was a particular Geico ad that would not only stop the music, but send my phone into some weird zombie state where I would have to hold one of the side buttons to wake it up and then close the window Geico had conveniently opened up for me in Safari. Very, very annoying. Now that I’ve chosen to make Google my subscription based music streaming platform of choice, you’d think it would work more seamlessly, especially considering the heavy competition. I certainly didn’t face any issues like this with Apple Music and I am starting to regret my decision to switch over. Now, to my current gripe- this app can’t seem to stop glitching when I bring it up from the background to say, change the station, etc. Google should be able to deliver a seamless experience to paying users. Maybe they’re taking customers like me for granted.
I expected this to be less buggy

I love the fact that I can access my songs from anywhere with Google Play Music, however this is diminished by the fact that whenever I’m connected to Bluetooth or chromecast, skipping songs is a nightmare, even with a fast internet connection. The app stutters and randomly pauses my music and sometimes skips more than one song. Also, when changing songs, it temporarily stops playing audio to the Bluetooth device even though the song is definitely playing. These functions work normally when using headphones or just playing on the phones built in speaker. So, overall, a useful app, but needs some fine tuning in Bluetooth, skipping, and smooth playback.
Really annoying bug

So the app works fine. I love the google play service. Had it for years. But with this most recent I’ve noticed an incredibly annoying bug. Whenever I’m trying to edit the queue to shift songs around, the app crashes. And sometimes if I try to add something to my queue via the “play next” feature, mainly with radios, it’ll add the song to the queue, but it won’t be next. It’ll add it to the top of the queue. Which means the song won’t play in the radio. Also it won’t let me move when I try to edit the queue because it’ll crash if I do. Please fix this. It’s my favorite music app and this kinda makes it annoying to use.
Apple CarPlay is buggy

Google play music is great as an app by itself. The radio station and playlist has some of the best recommendations. Compared to Its competitors this really lacks with Apple Car Play. If you hear a song you like you can’t thumbs up or add it to your library through Apple Car Play. Also, the Car Play is very buggy it freezes on almost every trip. The music still plays but I’ll usually have to force close the app on my phone and restart for it to show on Car Play. Sometimes even restarting the app doesn’t work so just have to deal with no Car Play. If Car Play worked as intended, and have better user functionality to add music to the library this would be 5 Stars.
Google Pause Music

They should call it Google Pause. Unfortunately this music app has a lot of finicky bugs—never syncs properly with Microsoft Sync in the car; almost always crashes now when playing a song and the app is opened to either change the song or ‘like’ or ‘unlike’ a song. If you’re using Google Maps in tandem with the music app (like a road trip), the two hate each other and LTE will become bogged down trying to stream data to the two, resulting in either a phone crash or app crash, or both. Too many issues to actually enjoy listening to melodies. The biggest issue faced is the music freezing every time you open the app, switch to a different app, or are entertaining guests.
Frustrating

There's a lot I love about Google Music: I love the organization, stations, "playing near you" feature, etc., but none of that matters much with the fact that hundreds of songs disappear daily from my Thumbs Up library. I'm pretty serious about my music and I've been cultivating this list for a few years, so to have it drain away every time I open the app is disheartening to say the least. To be fair, if I uninstall and reinstall the app, all my music comes back, so it hasn't completely disappeared into the ether (whew!), but who honestly has the time/inclination to go through all that every time they want to hear some music? I'd recommend finding another app. Everything about this one is great, but this is a big enough problem to take your business elsewhere.

First off I love the variety of radio stations available. This app probably has the most sub-genres compared to other apps. Audio quality is also very good. I would love to be able to download single songs and not entire albums. Sure, I could make a playlist and download it later. But I feel like that's an unnecessary extra step or two. Why not just have the download option available for each track like most other apps offer? Unfortunately, this one lacking feature is enough for me to unsubscribe to the paid service. If they offer this in the future, I might come back to this app

This app has great aesthetics, is really easy to navigate, and has all the music you want. However, if I try and skip more than two songs, the icon on my lock screen disappears, and I have to unlock my phone and open the app, click “try again” and then skip the song. Terribly inconvenient. If someone else is sharing your account, aka you’re using more than one of your allowed 6 devices, then the app will pause and give an error message. Imagine losing music in the middle of your workout just because your family member wanted to hear some Lil Uzi. Very frustrating.
Please Fix This App

For some reason my library is refusing to sync across my devices. I've tried everything only to find that my libraries on my iPad, iPhone, and laptop are all different from one another. Why? That doesn't make any sense. A lot of music also keeps getting removed from my libraries for no reason. I'll add music from a particular artist via the Play Music's catalog, only to find all their songs removed from my library the next time I open the app or site. They're still available, they're just no longer in my library for whatever reason. And why does uploading previously owned music result in Play Music deleting your entire library except for the uploaded content? I wanted to expand my library, not replace the entire thing
Has Bugs

I’ve had this app for a while and I am just now having bug problems. When I go to add songs to my library, instead of adding them to the top of the playlist, it adds them onto the bottom. I tried making a new playlist and I cooperated for a bit, and then did the same as before. I also tried to delete a song off of a playlist because I had it on there twice, and it won’t let me delete either. I have also tried moving songs around on the playlist, and they never stay in the spot that I put them in. I used to love this app but now I’m looking into other ones.

The last update was 6 months ago and I’ve been giving my feedback every time there’s an issue. This app is not stable. If you click on a banner notification, the app crashes. If you give a song a thumbs up, then open ANY other app, the app crashes. And, if that wasn’t bad enough, the thumbs up doesn’t sync right. I will play my thumbs up playlist and it won’t show that I gave it a thumbs up. If I start a radio station it won’t show which ones I liked, so naturally I’ll click on the thumbs up just to make sure it’s on the list, only to find out I’ve inadvertently REMOVED hundreds of songs from my thumbs up playlist. If it wasn’t for the family plan Google offers I’d jump ship faster than you can google “jump ship.”
Creates the best mixes!

Ugh google play music makes the best random playlists! They are literally FIRE! Pick any song you want to listen to and on the right hand side click and look for “start insta mix.” From your entire music collection, google will find the best songs that are most similar to the song you’ve chosen and create a random playlist for you to listen to. No other music app does it. It’s google play’s best feature. It has the best algorithm for pairing similar songs from any other music app!
Needs maintenance

When I first used the app, it worked perfectly, but when I started adding more and more songs, the app started wigging out. Now, I have to delete a song under the song to delete the song I originally planned to remove. Confusing, right? And my songs went completely out of the order I had first placed them in. Me having OCD doesn’t help this situation very much. The music still plays very well and the shuffle option is accurate...? Is that the word to use? Anyway, please check these things out and the app will be perfect.
Disappearing songs??

This rarely happened before but now it’s happening more frequently. I would just be listening to music and suddenly almost all of my songs in my “thumbs up” or other playlists disappear, only leaving several songs in there. I would try and restart my phone or refresh the app but it doesn’t work, so the only option I have is to continuously deleting the app and redownloding it. The songs do come back but I’d have to redownload all of the songs again to listen to them offline. My internet is perfectly fine and it also happens when I’m using data.
Good but needs fixing.

I love this app because it offers a lot of music and features for an awesome price, but there is a bug that has never seemed to be fixed and it has to do with playlists. Whenever I make a playlist and organize it, after I click done and wait a few minutes, it will move certain songs to other parts of the playlist where I don’t want them. This may not bother everyone but it bothers me because I’m very organized and I can’t keep my playlists organized because they always change somehow.
Needs to be updated.

I've had this app for about 5 years now. It works pretty well but I noticed about a year ago that I couldn't find my recently added music (which is how I would listen to my new favorite songs). That was one of my favorite features of the app and now (unless I add it to a playlist) I cannot find the songs I just added to my library...It's very annoying, I've actually considered cancelling my subscription because of it. This app has not been updated since I first download it back in 2013....Maybe bug fixes but that's it. I would like to see a difference in the app....please update it!!!
Poor performance and lacking in feature

Problem: I’ve been trying to add songs that I like, but doing searches quickly while having music playing causes the app to slow down considerably and eventually crash. Feature wishlist: 1. Ability to follow artists - receive updates on new songs and view shared playlist. 2. Have an option on the artist profile page to view a list of all of the artist’s songs instead of just their top songs. Songs can be filtered by name, album, etc. It doesn’t make sense to click in and out of multiple albums to view all of an artist’s songs. 3. Improve search results. I appreciate it when you start typing and you’re given options in a drop down that matches what you are entering or provides the closest value to what you entered. For example, I typed in “Water Park Glimpses,” and got nothing until I clicked enter. It feels like with Google’s tech in search their music app should be able to provide accurate/similar results when searching for artists and music.
Great App But Only One Problem

Love the app and have been using for over a year or maybe two now, but lately i have been running into this problem that when i want to delete something out of a playlist it deletes the song that is one or two above it. This frustrates me because then i have to figure out how to get the song deleted that i actually wanted to delete and add the new song back and on top of that remembering what song i deleted out of the many in my playlist l. If this bug is fix it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks You.
Good but easily could be great

I’ve always used google music and never had a problem with it, but there are a few things that could be updated. For instance, when making a playlist you can add all the songs you want, but you’re not able to remove songs. Sometimes I’ll make a playlist then decide I don’t want a song on there but instead of removing it I would have to make a whole new playlist. Also, when on shuffle mode I’ve noticed songs will repeat even thought the entire playlist has not been played through. Other than that everything else is great

As many other reviews say, there is annoying glitches. For me, song audio stops playing even though it shows the song is still playing. It will do it when I’m downloading an album or if I enter the app. So I have to pause the downloads and play it again. If you wanted to start an album over from the end to the beginning, the first song will start but skip to almost the end and play. But the music selection is amazing. Layout is easy to use. Another thing is already downloading albums will show being re-downloaded. Sometimes clean and explicit version of albums will splice together forming double tracks. Great app but a lot of weird issues
