I booked flights on this website then i had to cancel it. The website doesnt give enough info about the cancellation so i called the customer service they said if the ticket is not issued we can refund if it is issued already you have to pay 50 dollars. Apparently it is 50 per person. What bothers me is that first they issued my ticket to get 50 dollars per person then cancelled my ticket. What an integrity!!! I would not recommend any company trying to make money like this. Definitely will not use their service again.
International transaction fee

When I bought tickets using this app I had the impression that the company was located in US but after finalizing the payment, the bank charged me $120 for international transaction fee. After calling customer service I realized that the company is located in Asia. Please be aware of this in case you want to use this app/website

I’m U.S. military, based in Japan. I tried to book a flight back to the states for my son’s graduation. When you use the service, Trip.com say’s they have the lowest price. When you try to book it, their service says the seat is sold and asks if you want to search again. I clicked yes, they said they again have a seat but for a few dollars more. So I tried to book it. Same thing, sorry it was sold. They ask if I want to search again, sure I’ll give it a shot. Yep, the seat is available for purchase. The flight is more expensive than what the Direct airline is charging but at this point I just want to be done. I buy the ticket. Now I’m on my way to the airport and I print off my information from only to find that the tickets are for two days later! I contacted the company who initially tell me not to worry that they can fix it at the Airport and that they will have someone contact me. The Airline can’t do anything for me because I bought from a third party. I miss my flight. I contact the company again and they tell me that I have to wait for someone from ticketing to contact me to see about switching my tickets and to have IT look into the issue of the date change. I get a reply from them saying that there was no error but that I purchased passage on the wrong date. They would like to help me change the date for $650!! Are you kidding?! The initial flight was $790. How can the price be so high? Customer service while very polite, is non existent. You can’t call in and talk to someone that can help, you get the run-around and they just repeat what was on the last email that was sent to you. I was surprised because they are rated a high. I won’t book with anyone other than the direct airline at this point. I certainly cannot recommend Trip.com!

Would not recommend this, I ended up booking two flights for the same day same time under the same name because the first time doing it it said the process failed and when I called the support here they weren’t any help at all and did not resolve my problem and now I’m getting charged for two tickets because they can’t do anything about it “supposedly” if ai could I would give zero stars

This is the worst hotel service I have ever used. Our card was charged by the service provider for our room and the service card that they sent to the hotel declined. The customer service provider could not figure out could not understand what was going on and wanted us to pay for the nights at the hotel and then have the service refund me for my charge, even though I already paid the service. If the provider could not pay for my room after I paid them. How could I expect them to refund me. Not only was this bad but the customer service was awful she hardly spoke English and was very rude to us after I refused to pay the hotel for the room I already paid the provider for. Now I have to dispute the charge to the provider because I ended up paying the hotel for my room. Luckily they gave it to me at the discounted rate. If I could give 0 stars I would. I’m convinced this is a scam. BEWARE!!!!!

I found a nice ryokan in japan at a cheaper price here than anywhere else and booked it....then I read a review of someone else who had done the same and the ryokan never received their reservation. I was nervous and contacted my ryokan directly from their webpage...and they didn’t seem to know about my reservation. However, I gave them further info and confirmation numbers from trip.com, and they were able to confirm my reservation after a few days (apparently trip.com booked through another company which works with the ryokan). I guess there was a delay somewhere along the line sending my reservation info. So I’d say if you find a cheaper price here go for it but...make sure to confirm directly with the hotel.

Reserve un vuelo por trip.com y me llegó la confirmación a un aeropuerto equivocado. Rápidamente me comunico para informar el error de la confirmación y no han pasado ni 3 horas de la compra y no me quisieron dar opciones ni pagando por un error del sistema. Indican que no pueden ayudarme, que pierdo el dinero. esto es una estafa al no darme opciones ni siquiera pagando la diferencia. El servicio es pésimo no se los recomiendo. A cuantas personas le harán lo mismo y reclaman.

App functions very well and the staff are very kind and helpful. It would be a nightmare trying to book my travels in China without Trip.com. They have even helped me to resolve problems that I accidentally created for myself. I have recommended the App to friends, family and work colleagues and feel comfortable doing so. I’ve found pricing for planes and hotels to be competitive and it simplifies my life a great deal to have everything on one app (more or less).

I have always been pleased with trip’s ease of use, especially living in China and not reading Chinese. But recently their customer service really impressed me. I’m traveling to Vietnam over Chinese New Year/Tet and I booked a hotel back in November. The hotel fell under new management, who refused to honor my booking. The trip staff offered a good alternative at a better rate. I didn’t take it because I had some specific amenities I wanted that the new hotel didn’t offer. I found a new hotel and trip sent me a good amount of money as compensation, even though this was not their fault and I had not pre-paid for the room.

Keep up the good work. Your app is probably I one of the nice ones out there next to Cleartrip. I don’t know why you folks removed the ease of scrolling through dates at the top though. Tech challenges should inform the UX :-)

I have had to change my password twice because the app keeps saying that my password is incorrect. However, I have no problems logging on online. I’ve tried to message them before but no one contacted me back. I booked a flight thru trip.com while I’ll be overseas and I’m trying to avoid problems by ensuring that I have my flight info thru the app. Fix this!

I booked a car through trip.com. Or so I thought I did. About three hours later I get an email saying it’s been canceled because the car was not available - no biggie, right? Well, normally it would not be, but they actually charged my card for this. No, it was not a preauthorization, they charged it. How do I know this? Because they admitted it and it took them days to refund it. And get this - I didn’t even get the whole amount back. Most likely it is due to currency conversions, but I ended up tying my money to a loooooooong refund process and they ended up charging me for it too. Has this happened before? No, not with any other service than Trip.com. Do not use, there are much better options available.
My prepaid reservation in Japan was not honored

I prepaid for a reservation at a traditional Japanese ryokan 110 days in advance at a cost of over $1,400. That reservation was not honored. The really bad part of that was that no one ever notified me that there was a problem. Not the hotel nor Trip.com, I found out the night before when I called to have my luggage sent over. So I was stuck in Japan with no place to stay. To their credit, trip.com attempted to fix the situation by booking me at another ryokan. The only problem was, despite assurances from trip.com, this new hotel didn’t have my reservation either. After thoroughly ruining my once-in-a-lifetime trip where they botched not just one, but two, hotel reservations, they tried to remedy the situation with a paltry $200 compensation. They really think a ruined $15,000 trip is only worth $200? I think that paltry amount was even more insulting than the ineptness of the people working there. This was a prepaid reservation! How can you screw that up and not know?

Do not use this company! Hides major details regarding purchase till after you pay. Then tells you to pay again to change. 2nd bad experience in 24hrs with them. Plane ticket to move to later flight was going to cost 5x what I paid for it plus what I paid.

Oh my god, what is wrong with this app design for iPad. It’s one of the worst design. Doesn’t this company have 1 designer in the full team? They literally just copy paste from the phone , and not even bother to fix the pixelated parts. If you going to do this cheap tricks , better not even bother this as an iPad app

CTrip is a very good company with great customer service. Lots of good deals with airfare and hotel bookings. Yet, to make it even better, they should add an option that allows you to book the HK and Macau ferries. Also, it would be nice if customers are allowed to add in their frequent flyer numbers with their airfare purchases whether it is with the operating airline or an affiliated airline within the airline groups such as SkyTeam, Star Alliance, or OneWorld. Thank you.

This has been the worst customer service I’ve ever received. The app is glitchy and the call center is in China. I had a emergency in my Family and was unable to cancel my booking the calL rep I spoke was rude and unhelpful just repeating the same words back to me over and over even when I asked my next steps and asked for more help he kept repeating himself. I’ve emailed this organization twice and they had the same rep call me on the day I was suppose to leave for my trip asking me for proof and being so inconsiderate it maybe uncomfortable I had to hang up the phone. Please do not book from this site you will have nothing but issues if you need to reach out or confirm with anyone and all Hotels will refer you back to these people who have no desire to help you.

I used them to book a spur of the moment trip on a Saturday to DC because they had a great rate for a hotel. I put that night date in twice and paid for the night. Got to the hotel and the reservation email said it was for the following weekend. Trip.com would not move the reservation even when I offered to pay any difference. Then they refused to cancel the reservation. I’m glad the hotel was able to make room for me but Trip.com was not helpful.

Beware that the money taken out of your account is in Shanghai. Unless you have a no foreign transaction account, or a Chinese bank account, you will be charged extra and trip.com won’t refund you.

虽然中文很难学,但是我来中国大陆留学中文。我长期住过中国,也经常在大陆旅行。我发现航班条件和旅游业标准越来越好。不过,因为我得输入英语子来拼我护照的名字这个原因,用不了我喜欢的中文Ctrip订机票。因为用不了简体字,还有信息和价格不一样,trip.com给我不友好和不公平的感觉。

There seems to be a problem connecting accounts between CTrip and Trips.com, especially when email addresses listed are different. Also, it seemed easier to change reservations on CTrip, rather than Trips.com.

This app for iPad needs a landscape mode. Most iPad owners I know are using their iPads in landscape mode but this app is portrait mode only so totally useless since I always connect to my Apple keyboard IN LANDSCAPE MODE! Please fix this!!

Basically nothing works in this app. In the middle of a search it will jump off to a different place. I’m constantly having difficulty with it. It’s like it was made by children! I’m a long-time customer and I’m constantly jumping to somebody else’s company because your app is so lousy. My wife uses Chinese C trip and the prices are 2/3 of what they are on English version. it’s like you’re trying to screw me for the extra cash.

Completely irresponsible customer service. No support. Missed a train and they replied to me only after it was too late to change ticket or get a refund. Lost 600 RMB. Also lost more than almost 7500 RMB for a flight ticket because of their irresponsibility. If you live in China use another ticket agency

I’m studying abroad in China and I used trip.com to book a hotel. Turns out the hotel didn’t accept foreigners (I think because of the requirement to register with the local police department) and I had already booked it! I called the customer service and they confirmed that this particular hotel didn’t allow foreign guests. They then refunded my whole amount and not only that told me the next hotel I booked through them would be discounted, but I had to book it first and call back. I was skeptical but I needed to get a hotel anyway so I booked a different place (after calling customer support again and making sure this hotel accepted foreigners, which they called and confirmed for me since I cant make calls to china) afterwards I called back hoping for a discount. I gave them the booking number of the new hotel and the old one and explained what I was told about a discount and they put me on hold. When they came back they said something along the lines of “The hotel wont’t give you a discount, instead we will give you a compensation” I was slightly confused but it turns out they sent me 50% of the total price of the new booking straight to my account. So I didn't get a discount from the hotel but instead Trip.com themselves sent me half the cost of what I paid for the new hotel back to my account as an apology! So now here I am super happy writing this review.

Careful booking flights on this app. They put our 2 year old and 6 year old in different rows. We contacted Trip.com and the airline but neither did anything to resolve the issue. No way to choose seats so best book through the airline.

Worst app for booking flights ever. Used four different cards each saying it can’t be verified. You call customer service they all sound like robot instructed to say the same thing. Don’t waste your time getting thus app if you live in America I believe it’s only for Chinese with WeChat or union cards.

The website and the application both are worst one that I’ve ever used. The company is not honest, reliable and do not respect their client. After making the reservation by 2 weeks they informed me that I cannot benefits from the rate available and they canceled my reservation without any compensation or apology. I recommend not making any type of booking through this company or to use this website or the application at all in order to save your money, try to use other websites. The customer service are not helpful to the client The rating should be below the zero.

This company has been incredibly helpful for my traveling in Asia! This one time I was stuck in this random city in China (by myself!!) because a connecting flight of mine got cancelled after I’d already begun my journey. That’s okay, but the issue was that NO ONE spoke English and my chinese is HORRID. So I called cTrip to ask what was being done about this situation and they assured me they were on it to find out. They had my back the entire 2 days I was stuck in that random town and I finally made it to Thailand! I had to cancel every single one of my previous hotel reservations and cTrip took care of all of it for me. It was actually one of the best trips of my life. So, yes they have a booking fee. But after that fiasco, I know that booking through this company is a solid choice and that they won’t leave me to deal with everything by myself. If you’re traveling Asia, and want some support, cTrip is the way to go!

You sit down at the coffee shop, get out your tablet and keyboard, excited about planning a trip.... but CTrip appears to display ONLY IN LANDSCAPE mode!!! Guys, a LOT of people use iPads and other tablets. And they use them in LANDSCAPE mode, particularly when typing on a keyboard. Unless Ctrip is going to be a phone-only app, I encourage you to make it usable for people who use it like a laptop! Thanks for listening to your customers!

I wish I could give this app (and company) zero stars. Price increases after you select a flight, prices for both hotels and flights are cheaper on the Chinese version, for foreigners payment options are a nightmare (if you us a foreign credit card and there’s any issue with the booking, their customer support is only trained to say one thing: it’s a problem with your bank, you need to contact your bank), and finally overall their customer service is abysmal; poor English, no ability to resolve your problem (in fact that’s exactly what it is: it’s YOUR problem)

C-Trip are a bunch of liars. The flights they run are never on time, and I am pretty sure that they dramatically understate the times on purpose. Furthermore, they treat “direct” flights and “stopover” flights as the same, and do their best to hide the distinction. This makes it an almost certainty your flight will be late. Liars. Don’t use them.

I’ve recently encountered 2 serious issues with the Ctrip systems and the iOS iPad app. 1) some where in the recent past a change to the user data base screwed up my name. Fortunately I spotted the error in my name (western) prior to attempting to go through security with an erroneous boarding pass. After bringing this to Ctrip’s attention they eventually (not without encountering initial resistance from customer support), recognized that their system was at fault and taken financial responsibility for the error. 2) Simply resizing a hotel map loses all the hotels! How did this version of the iPad app get into production with such an obvious error? It appears to this old IT professional that Ctrip fails to take their obligation to deliver system operations and software development seriously enough.

You can’t enter payment information before booking to make it easier. You also can’t use Zhifubao, the most common form of paying for anything in China, more widely used than Apple Pay or Visa. The APP says you can book available seats on trains, but when you try to pay it says there are no seats because it doesn’t update properly. Buying flight tickets is not instant booking and you might not get the price or flight. If you run into problems with the hotel you book at, for example it is advertised but it doesn’t allow foreign customers or the hotel is not as described or pictured, they are not properly responsive. Fees for some bookings, such as trains, are higher than elsewhere. They charge you the points you earn for different reasons such as getting a proper receipt. This APP is best used for hotels, which can be lower than others and for finding out flights prices before buying direct. If the flight price is lowest here, then it can be a gamble. If you call the number they give in their response, they will not transfer you to someone with the power to properly respond to their issues, instead they will tell you that talking to such a person is impossible . I posted this originally on a Friday night and received a response on a Sunday in the middle of the night when no one with such authority would be working. That itself should tell you the kind of lip service you can expect to receive if you have a problem! They respond that they are new. Trip.com only renamed themselves from C-trip, which is not new! I used them ten years ago! Same bad customer service and excuses then! Lying and saying they are new when they aren’t, well you make the choice on how you feel about that!

This is the worst hotel service I have ever used. Our card was charged by the service provider for our room and the service card that they sent to the hotel declined. The customer service provider could not figure out could not understand what was going on and wanted us to pay for the nights at the hotel and then have the service refund me for my charge, even though I already paid the service. If the provider could not pay for my room after I paid them. How could I expect them to refund me. Not only was this bad but the customer service was awful she hardly spoke English and was very rude to us after I refused to pay the hotel for the room I already paid the provider for. Now I have to dispute the charge to the provider because I ended up paying the hotel for my room. Luckily they gave it to me at the discounted rate. If I could give 0 stars I would. I’m convinced this is a scam. BEWARE!!!!!

I have always been pleased with trip’s ease of use, especially living in China and not reading Chinese. But recently their customer service really impressed me. I’m traveling to Vietnam over Chinese New Year/Tet and I booked a hotel back in November. The hotel fell under new management, who refused to honor my booking. The trip staff offered a good alternative at a better rate. I didn’t take it because I had some specific amenities I wanted that the new hotel didn’t offer. I found a new hotel and trip sent me a good amount of money as compensation, even though this was not their fault and I had not pre-paid for the room.

This has been the worst customer service I’ve ever received. The app is glitchy and the call center is in China. I had a emergency in my Family and was unable to cancel my booking the calL rep I spoke was rude and unhelpful just repeating the same words back to me over and over even when I asked my next steps and asked for more help he kept repeating himself. I’ve emailed this organization twice and they had the same rep call me on the day I was suppose to leave for my trip asking me for proof and being so inconsiderate it maybe uncomfortable I had to hang up the phone. Please do not book from this site you will have nothing but issues if you need to reach out or confirm with anyone and all Hotels will refer you back to these people who have no desire to help you.

CTrip is a very good company with great customer service. Lots of good deals with airfare and hotel bookings. Yet, to make it even better, they should add an option that allows you to book the HK and Macau ferries. Also, it would be nice if customers are allowed to add in their frequent flyer numbers with their airfare purchases whether it is with the operating airline or an affiliated airline within the airline groups such as SkyTeam, Star Alliance, or OneWorld. Thank you.

I booked flights on this website then i had to cancel it. The website doesnt give enough info about the cancellation so i called the customer service they said if the ticket is not issued we can refund if it is issued already you have to pay 50 dollars. Apparently it is 50 per person. What bothers me is that first they issued my ticket to get 50 dollars per person then cancelled my ticket. What an integrity!!! I would not recommend any company trying to make money like this. Definitely will not use their service again.

The app is useful for aggregating different Chinese airlines, but when it comes time to make a reservation, I would highly recommend going directly to the airline or hotel website or a truly international travel site (China Eastern or Expedia). Otherwise Ctrip simply adds one more unnecessary layer (in contrast, though I’ve had other issues with Expedia in the past, they have also worked hard to contact the airlines on my behalf to resolve travel issues. You’ll get no such service from Ctrip.

Basically nothing works in this app. In the middle of a search it will jump off to a different place. I’m constantly having difficulty with it. It’s like it was made by children! I’m a long-time customer and I’m constantly jumping to somebody else’s company because your app is so lousy. My wife uses Chinese C trip and the prices are 2/3 of what they are on English version. it’s like you’re trying to screw me for the extra cash.

Would not recommend this, I ended up booking two flights for the same day same time under the same name because the first time doing it it said the process failed and when I called the support here they weren’t any help at all and did not resolve my problem and now I’m getting charged for two tickets because they can’t do anything about it “supposedly” if ai could I would give zero stars

The hotel prices shown while shopping for a hotel are significantly lower than the actual prices paid (in English version). You can see in fine print when you pay but not before. There are some undeclared fees added to the total. Some of these are to Ctrip itself and some of them are hotel. There is no distinction made.

The app (and website) are lacking the same options as that of the Chinese versions. If you are traveling in a group do not use this; you are unable to stay together as a group! Also, as a seasoned traveler watch out for the booking fees, the Chinese counter does not have those as well... overall, Trip does not really care about foreigners, just the money.

Service chat always says there is 3 customers in from of me, after 2 hours the message is the same, I believe it's a fake message. I need an official receipt from the app, because they charge a 20 RMB booking fee on each train ticket for a total of 93 RMB while the ticket itself is only 73 RMB.

The website and the application both are worst one that I’ve ever used. The company is not honest, reliable and do not respect their client. After making the reservation by 2 weeks they informed me that I cannot benefits from the rate available and they canceled my reservation without any compensation or apology. I recommend not making any type of booking through this company or to use this website or the application at all in order to save your money, try to use other websites. The customer service are not helpful to the client The rating should be below the zero.

When I bought tickets using this app I had the impression that the company was located in US but after finalizing the payment, the bank charged me $120 for international transaction fee. After calling customer service I realized that the company is located in Asia. Please be aware of this in case you want to use this app/website

Also lost more than almost 7500 RMB for a flight ticket because of their irresponsibility. If you live in China use another ticket agency

This app for iPad needs a landscape mode. Most iPad owners I know are using their iPads in landscape mode but this app is portrait mode only so totally useless since I always connect to my Apple keyboard IN LANDSCAPE MODE! Please fix this!!

I’m U.S. military, based in Japan. I tried to book a flight back to the states for my son’s graduation. When you use the service, Trip.com say’s they have the lowest price. When you try to book it, their service says the seat is sold and asks if you want to search again. I clicked yes, they said they again have a seat but for a few dollars more. So I tried to book it. Same thing, sorry it was sold. They ask if I want to search again, sure I’ll give it a shot. Yep, the seat is available for purchase. The flight is more expensive than what the Direct airline is charging but at this point I just want to be done. I buy the ticket. Now I’m on my way to the airport and I print off my information from only to find that the tickets are for two days later! I contacted the company who initially tell me not to worry that they can fix it at the Airport and that they will have someone contact me. The Airline can’t do anything for me because I bought from a third party. I miss my flight. I contact the company again and they tell me that I have to wait for someone from ticketing to contact me to see about switching my tickets and to have IT look into the issue of the date change. I get a reply from them saying that there was no error but that I purchased passage on the wrong date. They would like to help me change the date for $650!! Are you kidding?! The initial flight was $790. How can the price be so high? Customer service while very polite, is non existent. You can’t call in and talk to someone that can help, you get the run-around and they just repeat what was on the last email that was sent to you. I was surprised because they are rated a high. I won’t book with anyone other than the direct airline at this point. I certainly cannot recommend Trip.com!

This is the worst hotel service I have ever used. Our card was charged by the service provider for our room and the service card that they sent to the hotel declined. The customer service provider could not figure out could not understand what was going on and wanted us to pay for the nights at the hotel and then have the service refund me for my charge, even though I already paid the service. If the provider could not pay for my room after I paid them. How could I expect them to refund me. Not only was this bad but the customer service was awful she hardly spoke English and was very rude to us after I refused to pay the hotel for the room I already paid the provider for. Now I have to dispute the charge to the provider because I ended up paying the hotel for my room. Luckily they gave it to me at the discounted rate. If I could give 0 stars I would. I’m convinced this is a scam. BEWARE!!!!!

I found a nice ryokan in japan at a cheaper price here than anywhere else and booked it....then I read a review of someone else who had done the same and the ryokan never received their reservation. I was nervous and contacted my ryokan directly from their webpage...and they didn’t seem to know about my reservation. However, I gave them further info and confirmation numbers from trip.com, and they were able to confirm my reservation after a few days (apparently trip.com booked through another company which works with the ryokan). I guess there was a delay somewhere along the line sending my reservation info. So I’d say if you find a cheaper price here go for it but...make sure to confirm directly with the hotel.

Rápidamente me comunico para informar el error de la confirmación y no han pasado ni 3 horas de la compra y no me quisieron dar opciones ni pagando por un error del sistema. App functions very well and the staff are very kind and helpful. It would be a nightmare trying to book my travels in China without Trip.com. They have even helped me to resolve problems that I accidentally created for myself. I have recommended the App to friends, family and work colleagues and feel comfortable doing so. I’ve found pricing for planes and hotels to be competitive and it simplifies my life a great deal to have everything on one app (more or less).

I have always been pleased with trip’s ease of use, especially living in China and not reading Chinese. But recently their customer service really impressed me. I’m traveling to Vietnam over Chinese New Year/Tet and I booked a hotel back in November. The hotel fell under new management, who refused to honor my booking. The trip staff offered a good alternative at a better rate. I didn’t take it because I had some specific amenities I wanted that the new hotel didn’t offer. I found a new hotel and trip sent me a good amount of money as compensation, even though this was not their fault and I had not pre-paid for the room.

I booked a car through trip.com. Or so I thought I did. About three hours later I get an email saying it’s been canceled because the car was not available - no biggie, right? Well, normally it would not be, but they actually charged my card for this. No, it was not a preauthorization, they charged it. How do I know this? Because they admitted it and it took them days to refund it. And get this - I didn’t even get the whole amount back. Most likely it is due to currency conversions, but I ended up tying my money to a loooooooong refund process and they ended up charging me for it too. Has this happened before? No, not with any other service than Trip.com. Do not use, there are much better options available.
My prepaid reservation in Japan was not honored

I prepaid for a reservation at a traditional Japanese ryokan 110 days in advance at a cost of over $1,400. That reservation was not honored. The really bad part of that was that no one ever notified me that there was a problem. Not the hotel nor Trip.com, I found out the night before when I called to have my luggage sent over. So I was stuck in Japan with no place to stay. To their credit, trip.com attempted to fix the situation by booking me at another ryokan. The only problem was, despite assurances from trip.com, this new hotel didn’t have my reservation either. After thoroughly ruining my once-in-a-lifetime trip where they botched not just one, but two, hotel reservations, they tried to remedy the situation with a paltry $200 compensation. They really think a ruined $15,000 trip is only worth $200? I think that paltry amount was even more insulting than the ineptness of the people working there. This was a prepaid reservation! How can you screw that up and not know?

Do not use this company! Hides major details regarding purchase till after you pay. Then tells you to pay again to change. 2nd bad experience in 24hrs with them. Plane ticket to move to later flight was going to cost 5x what I paid for it plus what I paid.

CTrip is a very good company with great customer service. Lots of good deals with airfare and hotel bookings. Yet, to make it even better, they should add an option that allows you to book the HK and Macau ferries. Also, it would be nice if customers are allowed to add in their frequent flyer numbers with their airfare purchases whether it is with the operating airline or an affiliated airline within the airline groups such as SkyTeam, Star Alliance, or OneWorld. Thank you.

This has been the worst customer service I’ve ever received. The app is glitchy and the call center is in China. I had a emergency in my Family and was unable to cancel my booking the calL rep I spoke was rude and unhelpful just repeating the same words back to me over and over even when I asked my next steps and asked for more help he kept repeating himself. I’ve emailed this organization twice and they had the same rep call me on the day I was suppose to leave for my trip asking me for proof and being so inconsiderate it maybe uncomfortable I had to hang up the phone. Please do not book from this site you will have nothing but issues if you need to reach out or confirm with anyone and all Hotels will refer you back to these people who have no desire to help you.

I used them to book a spur of the moment trip on a Saturday to DC because they had a great rate for a hotel. I put that night date in twice and paid for the night. Got to the hotel and the reservation email said it was for the following weekend. Trip.com would not move the reservation even when I offered to pay any difference. Then they refused to cancel the reservation. I’m glad the hotel was able to make room for me but Trip.com was not helpful.

Basically nothing works in this app. In the middle of a search it will jump off to a different place. I’m constantly having difficulty with it. It’s like it was made by children! I’m a long-time customer and I’m constantly jumping to somebody else’s company because your app is so lousy. My wife uses Chinese C trip and the prices are 2/3 of what they are on English version. it’s like you’re trying to screw me for the extra cash.

I’m studying abroad in China and I used trip.com to book a hotel. Turns out the hotel didn’t accept foreigners (I think because of the requirement to register with the local police department) and I had already booked it! I called the customer service and they confirmed that this particular hotel didn’t allow foreign guests. They then refunded my whole amount and not only that told me the next hotel I booked through them would be discounted, but I had to book it first and call back. I was skeptical but I needed to get a hotel anyway so I booked a different place (after calling customer support again and making sure this hotel accepted foreigners, which they called and confirmed for me since I cant make calls to china) afterwards I called back hoping for a discount. I gave them the booking number of the new hotel and the old one and explained what I was told about a discount and they put me on hold. When they came back they said something along the lines of “The hotel wont’t give you a discount, instead we will give you a compensation” I was slightly confused but it turns out they sent me 50% of the total price of the new booking straight to my account. So I didn't get a discount from the hotel but instead Trip.com themselves sent me half the cost of what I paid for the new hotel back to my account as an apology! So now here I am super happy writing this review.

After making the reservation by 2 weeks they informed me that I cannot benefits from the rate available and they canceled my reservation without any compensation or apology. This company has been incredibly helpful for my traveling in Asia! This one time I was stuck in this random city in China (by myself!!) because a connecting flight of mine got cancelled after I’d already begun my journey. That’s okay, but the issue was that NO ONE spoke English and my chinese is HORRID. So I called cTrip to ask what was being done about this situation and they assured me they were on it to find out. They had my back the entire 2 days I was stuck in that random town and I finally made it to Thailand! I had to cancel every single one of my previous hotel reservations and cTrip took care of all of it for me. It was actually one of the best trips of my life. So, yes they have a booking fee. But after that fiasco, I know that booking through this company is a solid choice and that they won’t leave me to deal with everything by myself. If you’re traveling Asia, and want some support, cTrip is the way to go!

Guys, a LOT of people use iPads and other tablets. And they use them in LANDSCAPE mode, particularly when typing on a keyboard. Unless Ctrip is going to be a phone-only app, I encourage you to make it usable for people who use it like a laptop! Thanks for listening to your customers!

I wish I could give this app (and company) zero stars. Price increases after you select a flight, prices for both hotels and flights are cheaper on the Chinese version, for foreigners payment options are a nightmare (if you us a foreign credit card and there’s any issue with the booking, their customer support is only trained to say one thing: it’s a problem with your bank, you need to contact your bank), and finally overall their customer service is abysmal; poor English, no ability to resolve your problem (in fact that’s exactly what it is: it’s YOUR problem)

C-Trip are a bunch of liars. The flights they run are never on time, and I am pretty sure that they dramatically understate the times on purpose. Furthermore, they treat “direct” flights and “stopover” flights as the same, and do their best to hide the distinction. This makes it an almost certainty your flight will be late. Liars. Don’t use them.

I’ve recently encountered 2 serious issues with the Ctrip systems and the iOS iPad app. 1) some where in the recent past a change to the user data base screwed up my name. Fortunately I spotted the error in my name (western) prior to attempting to go through security with an erroneous boarding pass. After bringing this to Ctrip’s attention they eventually (not without encountering initial resistance from customer support), recognized that their system was at fault and taken financial responsibility for the error. 2) Simply resizing a hotel map loses all the hotels! How did this version of the iPad app get into production with such an obvious error? It appears to this old IT professional that Ctrip fails to take their obligation to deliver system operations and software development seriously enough.
Incomplete App for incomplete customer service

You can’t enter payment information before booking to make it easier. You also can’t use Zhifubao, the most common form of paying for anything in China, more widely used than Apple Pay or Visa. The APP says you can book available seats on trains, but when you try to pay it says there are no seats because it doesn’t update properly. Buying flight tickets is not instant booking and you might not get the price or flight. If you run into problems with the hotel you book at, for example it is advertised but it doesn’t allow foreign customers or the hotel is not as described or pictured, they are not properly responsive. Fees for some bookings, such as trains, are higher than elsewhere. They charge you the points you earn for different reasons such as getting a proper receipt. This APP is best used for hotels, which can be lower than others and for finding out flights prices before buying direct. If the flight price is lowest here, then it can be a gamble. If you call the number they give in their response, they will not transfer you to someone with the power to properly respond to their issues, instead they will tell you that talking to such a person is impossible . I posted this originally on a Friday night and received a response on a Sunday in the middle of the night when no one with such authority would be working. That itself should tell you the kind of lip service you can expect to receive if you have a problem! They respond that they are new. Trip.com only renamed themselves from C-trip, which is not new! I used them ten years ago! Same bad customer service and excuses then! Lying and saying they are new when they aren’t, well you make the choice on how you feel about that!

This company has been incredibly helpful for my traveling in Asia! This one time I was stuck in this random city in China (by myself!!) because a connecting flight of mine got cancelled after I’d already begun my journey. That’s okay, but the issue was that NO ONE spoke English and my chinese is HORRID. So I called cTrip to ask what was being done about this situation and they assured me they were on it to find out. They had my back the entire 2 days I was stuck in that random town and I finally made it to Thailand! I had to cancel every single one of my previous hotel reservations and cTrip took care of all of it for me. It was actually one of the best trips of my life. So, yes they have a booking fee. But after that fiasco, I know that booking through this company is a solid choice and that they won’t leave me to deal with everything by myself. If you’re traveling Asia, and want some support, cTrip is the way to go!

This is the worst hotel service I have ever used. Our card was charged by the service provider for our room and the service card that they sent to the hotel declined. The customer service provider could not figure out could not understand what was going on and wanted us to pay for the nights at the hotel and then have the service refund me for my charge, even though I already paid the service. If the provider could not pay for my room after I paid them. How could I expect them to refund me. Not only was this bad but the customer service was awful she hardly spoke English and was very rude to us after I refused to pay the hotel for the room I already paid the provider for. Now I have to dispute the charge to the provider because I ended up paying the hotel for my room. Luckily they gave it to me at the discounted rate. If I could give 0 stars I would. I’m convinced this is a scam. BEWARE!!!!!

I have always been pleased with trip’s ease of use, especially living in China and not reading Chinese. But recently their customer service really impressed me. I’m traveling to Vietnam over Chinese New Year/Tet and I booked a hotel back in November. The hotel fell under new management, who refused to honor my booking. The trip staff offered a good alternative at a better rate. I didn’t take it because I had some specific amenities I wanted that the new hotel didn’t offer. I found a new hotel and trip sent me a good amount of money as compensation, even though this was not their fault and I had not pre-paid for the room.

This has been the worst customer service I’ve ever received. The app is glitchy and the call center is in China. I had a emergency in my Family and was unable to cancel my booking the calL rep I spoke was rude and unhelpful just repeating the same words back to me over and over even when I asked my next steps and asked for more help he kept repeating himself. I’ve emailed this organization twice and they had the same rep call me on the day I was suppose to leave for my trip asking me for proof and being so inconsiderate it maybe uncomfortable I had to hang up the phone. Please do not book from this site you will have nothing but issues if you need to reach out or confirm with anyone and all Hotels will refer you back to these people who have no desire to help you.

I wish I could give this app (and company) zero stars. Price increases after you select a flight, prices for both hotels and flights are cheaper on the Chinese version, for foreigners payment options are a nightmare (if you us a foreign credit card and there’s any issue with the booking, their customer support is only trained to say one thing: it’s a problem with your bank, you need to contact your bank), and finally overall their customer service is abysmal; poor English, no ability to resolve your problem (in fact that’s exactly what it is: it’s YOUR problem)
Love CTrip especially for domestic travel.

CTrip is a very good company with great customer service. Lots of good deals with airfare and hotel bookings. Yet, to make it even better, they should add an option that allows you to book the HK and Macau ferries. Also, it would be nice if customers are allowed to add in their frequent flyer numbers with their airfare purchases whether it is with the operating airline or an affiliated airline within the airline groups such as SkyTeam, Star Alliance, or OneWorld. Thank you.
Unfortunate experience

I booked flights on this website then i had to cancel it. The website doesnt give enough info about the cancellation so i called the customer service they said if the ticket is not issued we can refund if it is issued already you have to pay 50 dollars. Apparently it is 50 per person. What bothers me is that first they issued my ticket to get 50 dollars per person then cancelled my ticket. What an integrity!!! I would not recommend any company trying to make money like this. Definitely will not use their service again.

You sit down at the coffee shop, get out your tablet and keyboard, excited about planning a trip.... but CTrip appears to display ONLY IN LANDSCAPE mode!!! Guys, a LOT of people use iPads and other tablets. And they use them in LANDSCAPE mode, particularly when typing on a keyboard. Unless Ctrip is going to be a phone-only app, I encourage you to make it usable for people who use it like a laptop! Thanks for listening to your customers!
Poor English, extra trouble

The app is useful for aggregating different Chinese airlines, but when it comes time to make a reservation, I would highly recommend going directly to the airline or hotel website or a truly international travel site (China Eastern or Expedia). Otherwise Ctrip simply adds one more unnecessary layer (in contrast, though I’ve had other issues with Expedia in the past, they have also worked hard to contact the airlines on my behalf to resolve travel issues. You’ll get no such service from Ctrip.

This app was great for booking my flight, hotel, and train tickets for my trip to Thailand. Map feature is awesome, and things you can do helped me manage my poorly planned trip. Best travel app ever. Add currency converter and phrasebook and you wouldn't need anything else when traveling!

Booking a flight on the app I am only shown different fares, but not booking/fare classes. But it is very important to know if my flight is in M, U, H, Q or V class. That information needs to be shown! What a discrimination not to disclose this. Does Ctrip really want to keep its passengers in the dark? Come on...

Keep up the good work. Your app is probably I one of the nice ones out there next to Cleartrip. I don’t know why you folks removed the ease of scrolling through dates at the top though. Tech challenges should inform the UX :-)

My favorite features are being able to pay with wehchat and having all my trips and hotels right here where I can see them, and also an address image to show locals and taxi drivers.

Basically nothing works in this app. In the middle of a search it will jump off to a different place. I’m constantly having difficulty with it. It’s like it was made by children! I’m a long-time customer and I’m constantly jumping to somebody else’s company because your app is so lousy. My wife uses Chinese C trip and the prices are 2/3 of what they are on English version. it’s like you’re trying to screw me for the extra cash.

Would not recommend this, I ended up booking two flights for the same day same time under the same name because the first time doing it it said the process failed and when I called the support here they weren’t any help at all and did not resolve my problem and now I’m getting charged for two tickets because they can’t do anything about it “supposedly” if ai could I would give zero stars

The hotel prices shown while shopping for a hotel are significantly lower than the actual prices paid (in English version). You can see in fine print when you pay but not before. There are some undeclared fees added to the total. Some of these are to Ctrip itself and some of them are hotel. There is no distinction made.

The app (and website) are lacking the same options as that of the Chinese versions. If you are traveling in a group do not use this; you are unable to stay together as a group! Also, as a seasoned traveler watch out for the booking fees, the Chinese counter does not have those as well... overall, Trip does not really care about foreigners, just the money.

The age selection for children 12 years old requires adult ticket. Please change it to <12 or 2-11. It cost me big $$$ having to back out of my ticket choice to change it.

Non existent customer service

Service chat always says there is 3 customers in from of me, after 2 hours the message is the same, I believe it's a fake message. I need an official receipt from the app, because they charge a 20 RMB booking fee on each train ticket for a total of 93 RMB while the ticket itself is only 73 RMB.

Simple, intuitive and comprehensive. I travel from Hong Kong to various China cities and use it exclusively. Big advantage is I can pay from my WeChat wallet or USA Credit Card.

The website and the application both are worst one that I’ve ever used. The company is not honest, reliable and do not respect their client. After making the reservation by 2 weeks they informed me that I cannot benefits from the rate available and they canceled my reservation without any compensation or apology. I recommend not making any type of booking through this company or to use this website or the application at all in order to save your money, try to use other websites. The customer service are not helpful to the client The rating should be below the zero.

I’m an iPad user and it annoys me to use your app since it doesn’t have a landscape mode, esp. if I have to use my attached keyboard. You need to redesign your app esp. for tablet users w/keyboard.
International transaction fee

When I bought tickets using this app I had the impression that the company was located in US but after finalizing the payment, the bank charged me $120 for international transaction fee. After calling customer service I realized that the company is located in Asia. Please be aware of this in case you want to use this app/website

C-Trip are a bunch of liars. The flights they run are never on time, and I am pretty sure that they dramatically understate the times on purpose. Furthermore, they treat “direct” flights and “stopover” flights as the same, and do their best to hide the distinction. This makes it an almost certainty your flight will be late. Liars. Don’t use them.

Do not use this company! Hides major details regarding purchase till after you pay. Then tells you to pay again to change. 2nd bad experience in 24hrs with them. Plane ticket to move to later flight was going to cost 5x what I paid for it plus what I paid.

Worst app for booking flights ever. Used four different cards each saying it can’t be verified. You call customer service they all sound like robot instructed to say the same thing. Don’t waste your time getting thus app if you live in America I believe it’s only for Chinese with WeChat or union cards.

Completely irresponsible customer service. No support. Missed a train and they replied to me only after it was too late to change ticket or get a refund. Lost 600 RMB. Also lost more than almost 7500 RMB for a flight ticket because of their irresponsibility. If you live in China use another ticket agency

This app for iPad needs a landscape mode. Most iPad owners I know are using their iPads in landscape mode but this app is portrait mode only so totally useless since I always connect to my Apple keyboard IN LANDSCAPE MODE! Please fix this!!
