New in the game.
by 338magnum on 2019/05/23 23:04
Just found out about this app. Had some questions so I called. Got my questions answered and had some good info sent to me that I now have downloaded. Had fun with the guy helping me.
Like the app - good support
by dzahner on 2019/05/23 00:21
I'm using the app as a supplemental data source at a fire lookout tower and so far it works great for that. (It'll be even better when I get over my learning curve.). Had a minor glitch (my fault) and found the email support to be quite good.
Private property boundaries
by RRK-456 on 2019/05/22 14:15
It would be better if the private property boundaries was included in the base program. Since this is free public information anyway. So are you going to make private property boundaries part of the base program? Yes or No Garmin GPS offers private property boundaries in their maps with a one time purchase.
Not happy
by ken 1 on 2019/05/22 00:50
Had the App for a whole year tried to download maps while I was in Alaska no go I tried it again this year works just as bad I paid for the whole America map last year never could download it on my iPad or my iPhone contacted them several times nothing
Predator control
by yote trapper on 2019/05/21 01:05
I’ve used OnX for a couple years now. I use it to mark trap locations for predator control. Track my routes when scouting new areas cause it can be hard to find exactly where you saw that den or whatever at unless your tracking yourself. Then when I’m bored at the house I use it to scout possible trap, calling, or hunting locations. And the landowner info and property lines are AWSOME when your a trapper. Woulda got 5 stars but had a couple small bugs on my old phone. Just put it on my new phone so hope it loads maps better
Colored waypoints
by jbaum75 on 2019/05/20 11:52
Allow for custom colors or include all primary colors at minimum
Crashes frequently
by Tinytom87 on 2019/05/18 20:48
Every time I’m using it, it crashes on me multiple times. Especially if I’m scouting areas and moving the map around.
Very pleased

Great customer service!!!!
Best tool in the woods regardless of location
by Scrutt TX on 2019/05/16 13:56
This is the best hunting “tool” or “gear” purchase I’ve made of any sort. It’s a game changer.
Thanks for colored pins!

by Megan1007 on 2019/05/13 06:04
This app is absolutely amazing. I don’t know why I waited so long to get it. It makes scouting, hunting, and everyday life easier for me. I have had two instances where I needed help, sent an email to them and had a response back under an hour helping me with my issue (issue was not knowing how to turn a layer on correctly, user error).
A hunters go to app
by Gherr7572 on 2019/05/13 05:39
This app has been very useful in my two mule deer hunts to eastern Montana and locally here in Kentucky where I currently reside.
Great app
by New Mexico Bill on 2019/05/12 19:49
I have been using this app for about 2 years. If you hunt, fish, ranch or simply want to know who owns what and where give it a try. After trying you will want to become an elite member as it is worth every penny. I wish they had commissions as anybody who see me use this app signs up immediately.
OnXHunt
by muke g on 2019/05/12 17:46
Very helpful and pleasant to deal with ,just getting started on using the app herd it was fairly easy to learn will find out shortly
Too frequent updates of no consequence
by hgtrtyuu on 2019/05/12 15:48
The app is really a four * but the trivial updates occur all too often, weekly. Most recently: colored icons; 100+MB for that. My data plan is not unlimited. How about offering consolidated updates periodically at my discretion.
A solid app with good support
by JPM62112 on 2019/05/12 03:05
I’ve been using this app for a couple of weeks now, and am very impressed. My questions to support have been answered promptly and were helpful in resolving the problem. I would like to see a better system for managing user custom data. Just throwing everything in one folder makes it a pain when you want to manage or update data. Being able to create sub folders to better group and organize data would be extremely helpful. (When I suggested this, support promptly replied that it’s on their list for future enhancements.)
Wrong state?! UPDATE!
by Obi Mik on 2019/05/10 17:54
Called customer service and they changed it within 15 seconds. Too easy look forward to more app use thanks. Paid for the 1 state option and it gave me the layers for NC and I specifically selected TN. Now awaiting customer service to respond but you guessed it they are cool with offering the upgrade.
Thanks!
by Fundaddy1 on 2019/05/10 14:19
Great service! The Hunting Public boys are on point!
Saw me a samsquanch.
by Samsquanch hunter on 2019/05/09 21:03
Saw me a samsquanch while using this. Smelled it first. It looked at me and ran. Tried to mark the location with this app and it done crashed on me. That’s how the samsquanch has remained elusive so long. Samsquanch odor interferes with gps signals.

by Longbow 5219 on 2019/05/09 20:02
OnX is a top shelf app. For a technologically challenged individual reasonably easy to use and accurate.
Map layers are great!
by Tanner O'Brien on 2019/05/07 18:21
My life revolves around hunting year around, and this is by far the best hunting app out there. Absolute favorite part is the hybrid layer for viewing property. You can view the cuts of timber and fields along with topography of the tract. This is HUGE for an avid bow hunter! I constantly recommend this to my hunting buddies and will continue to do so.
Great app
by kdevil22$ on 2019/05/06 20:37
Have used app for a year now had my doubts but it is my go to app.marking my trail cam locations, marking waterholes, game sightings, scrapes rubs. Cannot get lost if using this app driving or hiking.offgrid is great when out of cell tower distance.tells what unit you are in at all times. Gotta have it!!! Still using this app going on 2 yrs now!! Still great app can never lose cameras blinds scrapes rubs.If you ever have a question you get quick response.keep up the great work.Every outdoorsman should have this app!!!!’
Layers
by MattLarsenph4l on 2019/05/05 14:57
My layers don’t work, tried all the things they said to try but still not working, tried to send an email to get help, no response.
Quality of search function terrible
by ramblingman1234 on 2019/05/04 18:32
The app used to be great at finding addresses but in recent updates it has gone from good to terrible. I type an address in on google maps, no problem. I type the address in on this app, it won’t find the address. This is extremely frustrating and makes the app unusable. Most times I have to find the address on another mapping application, type in the city on onyx and find the property on my own. This is maddening and time consuming. If this isn’t fixed I will stop paying for a subscription.
It’s ok
by Merry00110 on 2019/05/03 23:00
Works well for knowing who owns what land. Would love to see options for saving land and uploading photos of hunting permission slips.
Wow, great.
by itaddict on 2019/05/03 03:58
Probably the best and most useful APP I have ever downloaded. Great for checking out property lines and also if you are hiking... making sure you stay on public lands. Super accurate.
Great app
by Ozark Ram on 2019/05/01 21:43
I bought this app when I bought a big chunk of land and wanted to mark the property lines so I didn’t trespass onto neighboring property. I wasn’t sure how accurate the app would be, but I found out quickly - it helped me locate an old PLSS corner monument that I never would have found otherwise. My property is in very rural Arkansas, where I would assume the data from the county is not very accurate. The app got me within 20 ft of the actual corner, which may sound like a lot, but it’s a lot closer than I was on my own. A surveyor wanted $2400 to mark corners for me, I was able to find them myself thanks to this app. Money well spent! And it’s fun to look up owner info on other properties.
Highly inaccurate and outdated for Maine
by Bostonmarkot on 2019/05/01 02:36
As a land manager and natural resource professional I downloaded the free trial out of curiosity. I quickly recognized the data on this app is just digitized tax map parcel data. First of all, anyone can get this data FOR FREE from the Maine state office of GIS and use in Google Earth or similar app. Secondly, the tax map data in this app for Maine is highly outdated and not updated to represent many years of updated data available FOR FREE from the state. As a land owner and professional it’s greatly concerning that members of the public are being scammed into spending $$ on publicly available free data which can be visualized on free software. Furthermore, I can see lots of issues that the inaccuracies of the data on this app may cause with landowner and landowner relations. Thankfully, Maine is not “reverse” posted like many others. I urge hunters and other recreationalists using this app to do their homework and not trust the data here lest we risk damaging relationships with landowners. There are plenty here in Maine who would love to see the state adopt reverse posting. I fear irresponsible users of apps like this will only will only hasten that unfortunate outcome.
Unexpected charges
by Cardinal9881 on 2019/04/30 23:44
I did not want a reoccurring subscription but didn’t get a choice. The upgrade cost showed $25.99 the actual amount charged was 31.00. The maps work well but I was overcharged and expect trouble turning off the automatic charges.
Fantastic app
by Snus Man on 2019/04/30 01:44
I think this is a must have app for any serious hunter. It’s much easier to find good hunting spots using aerial imagery than topo maps.
If you hunt, you need this!
by waterfowler33 on 2019/04/29 12:47
If you’re a hunter, this is the best app to have. It makes life so much easier and is so easy to use. As a waterfowl hunter following the migration, and finding the X, this app will show you who owns the X and will cut down time going door to door finding out who owns what field.

Well worth the yearly fee!
Essential!
by _Bradford_ on 2019/04/28 14:42
This isn’t just an app, this is an essential tool that helps me with all my outdoor adventures.
Purchase won’t restore on a second device
by DMKFxBg on 2019/04/27 13:49
Paid for the subscription on my iPad, and the subscription isn’t recognized when I use the app on my iPhone. When I try to purchase it again for the iPhone, I get a message that says I’m already a subscriber, but when I try to use the restore purchases, the subscription isn’t recognized. For as much money as it is, this is annoying, and I’m thinking I should cancel the subscription and use something less annoying.

Best hunt map app! Easy to use!
by Hunt&FishVA on 2019/04/26 02:55
I’ve used a couple other apps in the recent past that were recommended by friends, but none of them were really user friendly or had all of the options that I was looking for. Then I found OnX. SO much easier to use than the other apps. It’s now my go-to-app when I’m at home looking at my maps or in the field marking game sign and scouting new areas for stands or blinds. I’m sold for life; OnX is perfect for my hunting map needs. Highly recommended!
Great app for multiple reasons.
by Biggdoggg on 2019/04/25 23:29
Very helpful app. From giving you info to help formulate you hunting plans, to making sure you are on the correct property. The more you use it, the more you discover how much it can help you.
Absolutely unmatched for knowing where you are
by JR Henderson on 2019/04/25 22:38
If you want a quick and simple review it is this: any hunter, angler, hiker, or individual concerned with property boundaries [for any reason at all] could not find a better use for (less than) $30/year. No exceptions.
Best app out there hands down!!!
by ZZppp1o1o on 2019/04/25 22:12
Ive been using the onX hunt app for over 4 years now and that’s how long its been since my handheld Garmin has seen daylight! Before I found OnX it was always a struggle to know where property lines were and being able to see it on a satellite view helps a ton. OnX can be used for so many things. Anything from locating a friends house to sharing a favorite fishing spot. I recommend it for anyone, not just hunters.
Wrecked it
by Kramerleo on 2019/04/25 18:18
I loved this app for a long time, then they got greedy & took away most of the good features unless you pay monthly.

Just used Customer Service a second time. Received an answer promptly. I highly recommend this App.
Great product and support
by  on 2019/04/25 03:23
I’ve used this on my phone for a 2017 NM elk in hunt and was blown away how well it worked in offline mode. I’m planning a hunt this year and had some confusion on what states I had purchased (my fault) and called to ask a question about it. They had me straightened out in a few seconds and then offered me a great discount on the elite membership even though I was the problem, not them. OnX went above and beyond and won my loyalty for sure. It’s great to know the a company like this exist in our impersonal digital world we live in. Way to go!
Easy to use, great customer service
by DLTAZ on 2019/04/24 16:34
I use the OnX app on my phone to plan and navigate around private land. It has always been very easy to use and extremely helpful in planning hunts away from my immediate home area. Saving the map for going off the grid works really well. Customer service has been excellent. Highly recommend this app if you need to use it like I have to.
Less electronics to take a field
by Lexieeee3247 on 2019/04/23 19:11
Awesome app. Love everything that it does. It limits the use of other electronics you have to take a field with you now. You always have your smartphone by your side so now you can have everything you need to track your movement on your phone. I love the app and would highly recommend it.
Old outdated information
by Hatt Captain on 2019/04/23 14:32
This app is useless in the western KY area. Tried the trial offer and found it to be worthless as the information about owners is very outdated.
OnX is a great tool!
by OnX is sweet on 2019/04/23 13:49
Phenomenal app!
My trusted source
by TKZ Outdoors on 2019/04/23 13:39
This app has guided me through different properties where I knew nothing about it going in. The detail and accuracy kept me within my boundaries, and also lead me to find some unbelievable hunting locations. I will be using this app exclusively as I have my first DIY out of state hunt on the horizon.
Outdated data
by Jameshhjhf on 2019/04/23 05:18
I bought my land nearly three years still showing the previous owner on it. I will not continue subscribe it for this reason. I even emailed them with my tax information, and they are still not updating for me, GFY!
Perfect!
by HuntORE on 2019/04/23 01:28
OnX is fantastic. I had a few ideas to help improve the app. They welcomed the feedback and stated that those suggestions were already in development....I was hoping for a royalty...free hat or something. Anyway. Fantastic app. Loads great offline. Information is as current as it can be. Truly a thoughtful company with a great vision for improving the outdoor experience.
Bad upgrade
by Prybar1 on 2019/04/22 00:47
The app worked very well, then I updated the app & now property boundaries & land ownership no longer shows up on the map. Should have left well enough alone.
Mapping App.
by Gunarms on 2019/04/21 23:48
Great App. While this was developed by hunters for hunters, I use it in the woods or water, wether I’m hunting or not. I love the ability to mark my location and add pertinent information. Great for hiking, camping, bird watching, marking photographs etc.
A MUST HAVE
by Hahahahahhahahaa on 2019/04/19 22:55
As an outdoorsman, this app is crucial. Not only does it help me while I’m in the field, it also helps me when scouting/preparing for a hunt. As a waterfowl hunter, scouting takes you places you may not be familiar with. This app tells you the owner of all private property, and even gives an address. Making life simple, and instantly giving you a place to ask for permission. I will always be a member of onX
Not the greatest
by zippyiam on 2019/04/19 21:15
Extremely out of date, property boundaries not accurate and for a hunting/map app where are the leaf off views??
Fantastic

Such an awesome product and their customer service is exceptional
Must have
by SSwerz on 2019/04/19 14:08
This app has been critical to my success in the backcountry. Will not hunt public land without it. Has exceeded my expectations.
Private land Boundaries
by 4T Idaho on 2019/04/19 00:48
They been spot on with private land boundaries. Great customer service, had a few questions, answered everything and made it simple for me. Haven’t used the GPS that much but but I’m going to this year. Going to use it in my trapping by marking each set location.

Unnecessary data collection.
by Jerr Dan Jr on 2019/04/16 20:43
Great app but not a fan of personal data collection from Amplitude with device and app analytics from Leanplum, Scorecard Research, Kochava Tracker and Flurry.
Great App!
by Alec L Brown on 2019/04/13 22:23
Love this app. Detailed maps, awesome plotting and pin features. Great for public land hunting and finding out private land owners around. Just a couple things. 1. I haven’t figured out how to use the offline mode yet which will probably be super helpful when I get stuck in no service areas and 2. I love the features on the web version with colored pin features and different line weights and options that aren’t a feature yet on the app so it doesn’t carry over. I like to color code based on places I want to take note of, areas I’ve spotted animals, elsewhere. App and service is great though!
5 star app AND support
by iamhark2em on 2019/04/12 20:35
I’m a heavy user of this app. I recently have been experiencing trouble (can’t open the app), the support personnel have been exemplary! We still can’t figure out what went haywire, but they haven’t quit on me! I expect that they’ll figure out what I’ve done wrong and help me fix it. Outstanding product and even better support!
Solid Conservationist App
by Mr. Frantz on 2019/04/11 14:27
The versatility of this App is second to none in regards to the realm of conservationists. Being able to see all public, private, leases, wilderness areas, weather reports, etc. all from one app AND being able to ping places you’ve hunted so you can remember them for the next time is just too handy. That paired with the unbelievably reasonable subscriptions there truly isn’t anything to complain about, a service like this I was expecting to pay $$$/ month. The customer service is beyond exceptional. I originally got signed up in Texas and use only the Texas OnX maps, I am now moving to Wyoming and when reaching out to support to see if I could get my states changed over there was no hassle. No, “well we can’t really do that” no, “well you have to pay a fee” no nonsense. I asked if that was something they could do and within 5 minutes they emailed me back politely letting me know that my request had been completed. Every conservationist in my family uses this, I would and do recommend this app to every conservationist I come across. Thanks for the awesome service OnX!
It’s my GPS in the mountains
by Bow hnt on 2019/04/10 19:58
I no longer use my handheld gps while hunting elk. onX is my go to always. I make sure to have the maps downloaded for the areas I will be in and when the cell service is gone I switch to off grid. I also love that I can sit at home on my computer and scout with it online and mark all my findings so that they are there when I use my phone. Though I use it every western hunt I go on I am from Illinois and the app is so handy here for finding property boundaries and also to find landowner names and addresses when trying to get access permission. Thanks for a great app you have a customer for life
Awesome
by Elkman Colorado on 2019/04/09 14:15
Everything about this app is awesome. You can check out places you know and get a different perspective, places you don’t know firsthand and whether it’s worth wasting time on. Hell, you can even check to see if there has been a strange car at the house while you’re at work! This has revolutionized hunting more than anything else since the rifle scope. Everyone I know loves it. Can’t praise it enough!!!
Historical Data
by Kouhnavardmard on 2019/04/07 22:57

OnX-invaluable app for the outdoors person
by teamflannel on 2019/04/07 21:07
Still learning to use all the tools, still trying to remember to utilize it, but I sure do like it so far. I’ve marked all the access points to a public land area I’ve always wanted to draw/hunt. I’ve found/contacted land owners I’ve always wanted to access. I’ve pre scouted from my truck and computer chair. I especially like it for kayak fishing rivers without cell service the off grid feature is priceless. The only thing I wish it had was Lake depth/contours-That would be the bomb, and allow me to have everything in one app👍🏻
Downloaded.. looked at it....deleted it
by 00Andrew123 on 2019/04/07 14:15
I downloaded it to view my property lines. This app still shows the property undivided and the last owners. I purchased my land 3 yrs ago. Other apps, such as, LandGlide, DO show it as my property. Holding this app would work, unfortunately not

The best money I have ever spent
by Headslicer on 2019/04/07 04:29
The resources this app provides are remarkable for the money. I learned more this past season, much of it from using onX Hunt, than all of the years leading up to it. I wish all apps were this thoughtfully designed. And they are in my hometown so I get to support a local business and a great product. Win win!

Love the App. Have it on my phone and all my buddies. Just wish that the property owners information was updated to more recent information. Stopped to ask a owner if I could hunt his land and I called him by the owner information I found on the app and he stated that was the previous owner. Overall great app.

Update: Since upgrading to the newest version Still not impressed with the downloadable maps and to make it even better you need to delete all the maps you saved before and redo them. (No big deal. They actually save about 50 percent of the time and take forever to download. Should be a good use of my time which apparently isn’t valuable). It also extremely confusing to understand when your downloading a new map how to download additional layers with it. It automatically saves the three base layers but not any other layers. So if you hunt where there is no cell service you better make sure every layer on every map you save is there before leaving. Pretty much a joke and a huge waste of time at the end of the day. The app is pretty nice especially if you are you using it with a computer, not super easy to use but you do get used to it. There are definitely better options out there if you need maps with layers to save to your phone or put Into your GPS for when your out of service. If you hunt mainly where your phone has cell reception and don’t need to save files for offline use I would say it worth the money
Simply the best hunting App!
by Bowhunter10 on 2019/03/31 02:02
I’ve tried several hunting apps in the last several years but none comes close to the versatility and practicality of onX. I just recently completed a successful public land Tennessee turkey hunt in which I was totally unfamiliar with the property. Thanks to onX I was able to pre-scout the parcel from my home and develop several possible locations to begin my hunt. A day and a half of scouting confirmed the area as having plenty of turkeys . The waypoints I set through the app allowed me to access the area in the dark without blowing everything off the roost. On the third day I harvested a beautiful 21 lb 3 yr old mountain Tom thanks to onX. I enthusiastically recommend it.

I love these people. I archery hunt a lot for elk, mule deer, sheep, etc, etc and I wouldn’t leave my truck without an onxhunt map on my Garmin 655t. I use it religiously and wouldn’t be without it, period!!!
Great!!

This is app is one of the best tools I have. I use it for all types of hunting!!
Outstanding!
by Marvin 78 on 2019/03/28 22:41
This mapping system is one of the most used tools in my hunting arsenal! I’ve used it both in and out of country. The accuracy of the property boundaries is astonishingly accurate! It also comes with loads of extra features, map layer options, wmu’s, ect ect! It makes it a breeze to custom build a map that makes sense to the user! AND....their support staff if knowledgeable friendly and willing to help with anything!
Greatest app

Me & my friend are avid public land hunters. We always looked for maps to help us cyber Scout. On x is that & more. Thanks to the hunting public I was made aware of it. Thanks fellows and thanks on x maps.
Great product and product support
by Eazytodo on 2019/03/26 17:26
While I have only used this product for less than a year, it has fulfilled all I was looking for. Being able to download maps and map layers to my iPhone enabling use in areas where cell service is not available has allowed me to use this while hunting in many different backcountry areas. Plus, whenever I have had questions, the product support has always been there. Recently, while in an area where I did not have subscription coverage, I called product support fully intending to buy a several day temporary subscription. However, I was allowed use in the area for several days without charge! Now THAT is what earns customer loyalty and praise!
OnX Hunt
by Naz1969 on 2019/03/24 16:32
We wanted to make sure we were hunting on our own property. The app works great for that. Also, in a group hunt we are able to send each other our locations and maintain safe shooting lanes. Great app for hunting!
1st Rate App

Very good app. I use OnXHunt more than my GPS now. When you call support you get to talk with someone immediately. Not a computer. And the support people are first rate, like a good neighbor. Mike L.

Great customer service
by Still truckin' on 2019/03/21 18:54
I’ve contacted them several times over the past three years. Each request was handled quickly, accurately, and courteously. All, by the way, we’re mybad. Didn’t seem to phase them though. Great app. Wouldn’t go elk hunting in Colorado without it!
No overtire
by crittenden8449 on 2019/03/21 14:19
The app itself is pretty good if you don’t expect any updates etc. purchased land and submitted change request as to ownership so would show on the map. 7 months later still no change. They developed a good app but as for most things now days, once you pay don’t expect any follow up or service. Won’t be renewing.
Game Changer
by ORELKHUNTER on 2019/03/21 00:45
For a hunter new to the west ONX has been invaluable. From scouting to determining legal hunting lands it has saved me years of work. I highly recommend ONX and will remain a customer as long as I hunt.
Not worth the 1 year subscription
by Drew134678 on 2019/03/20 15:36
I’ve purchased this thinking it was a one time purchase but later found out it’s a yearly subscription. And was not impressed with the accuracy of the maps. my state game and fish has its own app that is free and more accurate. I would go by what the states game app has so there is no legal issues. And if you don’t know your hunting area, maybe you shouldn’t be hunting.
7 day trial...glitch
by Mama Wood 09 on 2019/03/20 12:15
My not tech savvy husband downloaded this not paying attention to the subscription cost...no biggie there’s a 7 day trial so you can cancel. Except we were charged at the time of the download. And now Apple is literally refusing a refund so I’ve started a ticket with the app developer. This needs to be fixed.
I loved this app
by Jester2500 on 2019/03/19 15:51
I loved this app back when they had the older topo maps that showed where old houses were. Those maps were a great tool for finding old homesites for metal detectorists. I will give 5 star rating and resubscribe to this app if they bring back the older topo maps!!! Please at least add the option to look at the older topo maps that show old homesites!!!!
Review on the onX app

Mixed Review - GPS users need to read
by Noel Hastings on 2019/02/15 23:51
I looked online and read reviews like most before getting this app. Started with the 7 day trial and was blown away. The review is mixed due to confusion and some some support issues. After using the app for several days on iPad and iPhone I loved it and planning multi-state trips in future I opted to buy the “Elite All States” annual membership. I soon upgraded my old GPS to a new Garmin 66st and was excited to try out this data on my GPS. I also bought a large SD card to accommodate the data but soon found no way to load the data. After some more research it was clear that you *cannot* use the data on anything but an iPhone or the web without their branded OnX Hunt chips which cost $120 for every state! So an annual membership and roughly 5 states would cost you nearly $700!!! I contacted support who told me that they would sell me a discounted chip as I already paid for the annual membership but when I called during business hours, as instructed, I got an answering message stating they were closed. I am now conflicted. Even with a hefty discount it seems to truly use this on my GPS I will need to buy several more chips and since I can’t get through to support I am not sure what that discount will even be. The data and format are amazing and I would give that 5 stars but the support and value thus far are around 2-3 stars. I will update with more as I get a better sense for what they can do and what it will cost me.
I think it’s the best
by Jacsquare on 2019/03/17 03:19
I hunt in AL. GA. TN. AR. and it’s great. If you are thinking about getting this read my full review. The app is quick in a hunting situation and intuitive. I think about 30 people now have the app after saying I should get another app. But then they see onX. The one thing I appreciate the most is onX has continually made good updates and improvements. I have hunted with it a lot now since about 2015 I think. Maybe longer. And they have made incremental improvements but only once changed the way it works. Meaning. I hate when other hunt apps have updated that make me have to completely learn again how to use it. I think you will be pleased. I would like to see a little clearer maps and the maps be updated more often than annually. But that’s no different than other apps I suppose. Also I might add they customer service is very knowledgeable. I have had a couple of problems or issues and called. Every time it’s been my misuse of the app. But they are kind and quick to help you trouble shoot. When I first got the app I even called and a guy spent about 30 minutes teaching me some finer points not on the videos.
Most useful app I have
by dccycleworks on 2018/09/29 23:18
I was hesitant to try this app after some other ones came up very short, but after a few friends recommended it I tried the free trial. I was hooked the first time I used it! For once there is an app that actually does what it advertises. Just today it was well worth the yearly subscription, I had hiked about 7 miles into the woods along a game trail and it was getting very hot and I was very tired, I decided to open OnX to see how much further I had to go if I stayed on the trail to intersect the road, when I opened the app I saw that I had just started paralleling the road but the intersection was another two miles away, but as the crow flies I was only a half mile from the road, so I just hiked the half mile and was back on the road I had parked on saving me probably a couple hours. Also customer support is great! I was having an issue with the app when off grid sometimes, I emailed them about it and they responded quickly stating they were aware of the issue and it had already been fixed in the update that got released that same day, I updated the app and it has been flawless ever since! Best app ever
Best app I have ever used
by Nubbbbb on 2017/10/19 15:27
This is my first review. Ever. I have been using OnX Hunt for a few years now. I cannot stop recommending this app to everyone I talk hunting with. I mark everything. Trails, tracks, rubs, scrapes, roosts, kills, sightings, treestands, blinds, trail cameras.... everything. At first I used it to keep inventory of my gear and where it was left. Now I share a few hunting spots and hunt some friends ground as well. They are now able to see where the trail cameras, stands and blinds are and can hang theirs accordingly. If I need or want them to check a cam? No problem. I can show them exactly where it is. From satellite and topo maps I am able to scout a lot from the air before I ever step foot on the property. And having landowner info is AWESOME when bow season is over and we change gears and start predator hunting. I measure, figure areas, scout, drop waypoints for everything. Best. App. Period. I will continue to pay for this app and will continue to recommend it to anyone that truly takes their hunting seriously. Thank you for creating an app that is, in my opinion, one of the best tools a hunter can have in his pocket.
Property Ownership Updates Slow
by JGutch on 2018/11/24 19:58
Based on my direct experience using the app as well as providing correct land owner information to OnX, they are very slow to update land ownership changes. I would venture to say that the land ownership is one of the most if not the most important map layer that hunters want to see. For the price that users pay for this subscription, this is the information that needs to be as current as possible, especially when the app is showing a property as open to the public when it is actually privately owned. I own property that was shown on the app as open to the public when I purchased it nearly a year ago. The app showed the property that was previously owned by a University Foundation as open to the public even though the foundation had it posted as private. I alerted OnX to this error and provided them all of the information they requested but the error still remains today. This land was never open to the public. If this is the speed at which the company handles a critical map error, as a user I would not pay the extra for “elite” membership. Just my personal opinion as a hunter and subscriber.

Great app, lacking in a few places
by modizzledaddy on 2017/11/02 23:24
I love this app so far, but one gripe. The downloadable maps should be more customizable, or at least give me more options. I’m locked into low/medium/high res maps for offline use. The high and medium res maps have amazing detail, too much for my uses, and only lets me download a certain size (5 or 10 mile wide) plot at a time. If I wanted to download a 100 mile square I would have to download 10 different maps. Not the hardest thing in the world to do, but tedious when compared to other offline gps app like Gaia(onxhunt and Gaia are very different, Gaia/off-roading navigation and onxhunt I use for hunting). The low res covers practically all of Colorado, and is close to detailed enough, but not quite. If they could make an offline map download option that was in between the low and medium res options, this app would be everything I could hope for. I could download 4-8 maps and cover the entire state, and never have to worry about not having service when I want to check my location.
Slow with blank spots
by dogcoyhunter on 2018/11/07 08:51
So far I do like the app. I’m only in the trail period, but so far it’s been a little slow to respond and their are a lot of times their has been blank spots, in other words white spot blocks all over my map when I move in or out. Sometimes they go away after a very long time or they stay and I don’t know what is behind them. The layers have been ok, sometimes a little hard to follow. I wish the whole app would rotate, not just the map. I’m more the likely to get the app. But before I do I will be taking it out and doing some of my testing. But the biggest thing I’m worried about is the slow loading and big areas of white spots. I’m using the app on my iPad. Update: the white spots have improved a lot. Still a little slow in loading. Now it’s the speed it’s way off or it freezes. It mostly shows the speed faster then I’m going or it’s why below what I’m going. I still would like to see the whole app rotate. I like my iPad in landscape. It’s much easier for me to see it.

by cgiven94 on 2019/02/11 02:56
If you hunt public land, big country, national forest, or if you just want to look and mark things on your own property this app os perfect! I downloaded a map of national forest and me and a buddy took it to the mountains (Miles and miles away from service) and we hiked 10 miles after we left the truck and came to a rock cliff. On the way back down we wanted to avoid the rock cliff in the dark so we swung right and accidentally went 2 draws over and started down the wrong hollow. Pulled out my phone (still no service) and looked at my downloaded map and walked to the truck which i had marked. Not only that but i was able to mark specific sign and leave notes on the map to remind me whats going on for next season to have a game plan. Highly recommend this app to everyone! Only downfall is i wish you could pay for more than 1 state, but not pay for 50 states when you might only need 1-4 states.
Essential Hunting Tool
by Brinton Cary on 2017/11/02 17:01
I've used the one state app as a Premium user for my home state of Oregon for a few years. Recently, I upgraded to the Elite package and have used the Offline feature extensively on several out of state hunts this year. Backcountry is one thing but I may be searching out access near private lands close to town where suddenly I lose service and have found I am saving these maps no matter where I hunt. It could be me, but the opacity/transparency is darkened many times making it difficult to see my layers. That's my only issue. I suggest watching podcasts featuring the OnX guys to glean more info on getting the most from the app. After seeing one such episode, I learned about the layers for wildfires and timber harvests where you can see what year and whether it was a thinning or clearcut. This is vital info for hunters in the logging country of the PNW. Overall, this app has become an essential tool for all of my hunts.
Needs work still
by 216Lexilulu on 2017/10/05 20:09
Old version worked well. Newer version has been problematic. Can’t import google earth waypoints (yet)... old version would. Layer transparency has been a big issue. Can’t control the roadless layer transparency offline so you can’t see the dang map underneath. Can’t even turn the layer off which caused a lot of headaches 2 weeks ago in Montana. Hopefully fixed now. Would like to be able to download larger blocks off high detail or custom shape of high detail maps for offline use. Downloads in 5-mile blocks are a PITA and take all day for large areas. Downloads should include all data layers and give user control over layers offline. Instead, if it’s not on when you download you don’t have it. Bottom line is that the new version was released prematurely before bugs were worked out and functionality was verified. And it was released right before bow season... nice timing. It’s a fantastic app when it works right yet incredibly frustrating when you’re depending on it and it doesn’t. Please keep working on it. I know you will get it dialed in soon.
Great app.
by Cmt179 on 2017/11/24 01:09
Love the app for knowing where you are at and staying on the right property or public land. I sold my Garmin and bought a charge pack for my phone and haven't regretted it. Just a few ideas for developers if they read this. 1st please at a "navigation to" function. It's useable to navigate as is but it would be awesome to navigate to your truck for example and it would keep track of how far and what direction it was. And secondly, would be the ability to just measure a distance from your current location instead of having to mark two location. Also the ability to change units of measure (to yards for example). There have been a few times I've ranged an animal near an unmarked boundary and having to do the math to figure out what side of the boundary it is on is tough in the moment. Both of those are improvements and don't detract from the fundamental purpose. A few small improvements would make it 5 star.
Great Hunting App!
by GlobalDriving on 2018/10/16 21:37
I have used this app for the past two years on multiple hunts, in multiple states. Not only has it been great for learning boundaries and a good overall picture of my my various hunting areas, it’s also great for the areas that I’ve hunted for years. OnXMaps is useful for everything from planning my hunts to using it in the field. The tracking feature has worked great, pin pointing waypoints and marking my location have been super valuable. Even the off-grid maps without internet work great. Before this app there were questions as to where property boundaries were. This has made that much more clear and makes hunting new areas more comfortable. They are constantly adding new features and improving on existing ones. The guys in customer service have always responded quickly with helpful information. Great app! Keep up the good work!
Best land map on the market!
by RJKBigSky on 2018/09/07 20:47
onXmaps is hands down the best map on the market! I have used it for much more than hunting and have been thrilled with the experience. The App is completely customizable with numerous layers, to fit whatever needs you may haveI have. I have vast experience in land navigation in the outdoors as a professional on many fronts; athlete, fire fighter, hunter, and overall recreation enthusiast. This App has given me confidence and security when venturing out into the great outdoors! I highly recommend this App to anyone that may need a great land navigation/ land ownership map. My moto use to be, “A paper map and a good compass is all you need”. Now my map and compass stay in my pack, as onXmaps has provided me with an all-in-one tool to get the job done. P.S. Also, a great company with great people! Thanks onXmaps! Can’t wait to see what you roll out next in the outdoor industry.
Waypoints not accurate
by JohnnyDezert on 2019/01/11 15:50
I subscribed to onX hunt for the last three years. In this time, the app has been a rollercoaster, sometimes good and sometimes not very reliable. Several times I have had to close and reopen the app because it freezes. Last year, they discontinued the “landscape” view that I used on my iPad, and upon contacting them, they assured me that it would be restored at a later date, but never was. Most recently, the last straw was on my archery elk hunt. I loaded offline maps before I left home, when I opened the app, it would show I was about 60 miles from where I actually was. I put an arrow in an elk, and immediately marked my position where I stood, and where I found first blood. I started tracking blood spots, and then went to backtrack to find my arrow and where first blood was, only to find that my waypoint was not accurate, and I never did locate the first blood spot. There are better gps apps available, do you’re research before subscribing, I will not be paying for this service anymore.
Let you're glass so the walking
by Sasquatch2016 on 2017/11/03 03:39
I'm old school, ok not that old, but I believe in letting your glass do the walking for you. OnXmaps has done the incredible by incorporating every desirable aspect of mapping into you're portable device. The ability to easily find public lands and determine where they begin and end is a invaluable tool at home. You can check out the terrain features in detail along with the real time topographic cursor you can see where elevation changes are and more importantly see what you're getting into. Downloading maps on you're device to navigate offline while keeping your location by god is awesome and you can still zoom in and out. The program is incredible and will save you fuel, time and multiply your quality of time spent in the field. It's a must for every outdoors enthusiast, hiker and hunter. Get it now!
ICantBelieveHowSlowThisAppIs
by iwishthisreviewwouldjustpost on 2018/10/14 01:14
SLOW and UNRESPONSIVE I have been using it extensively for quite some time so here are my comments; App is extremely slow to respond. For instance, saving a waypoint takes 15-32 seconds before the app becomes responsive again. Switching to offline is the same lag. Gaia GPS is instantaneous and quirk free. Make sure you download offline maps otherwise it will be extremely more frustrating even if you have decent cell service. You cannot undo a Delete so be careful! Aerial maps when zoomed in all the way are outdated by approx. 5 years... why!!! :( Topo view does not have as many Topo lines as on Gaia GPS (7.5 min)... why not !!!? I do like the icon symbols to help identify features and of course the landowner info. To summarize, I will not be renewing my subscription as this App needs lots of work. Gaia GPS is much more responsive and user friendly. Running on an iPhone 6, iOS is up to date, deleted app and tried installing again as they suggested. Still no improvement.
Idaho Legislature made this app a requirement
by Roark08 on 2018/10/08 17:56
It's a great app, but the Idaho legislature, having been heavily influenced by our Of state billionaires, made it so we have to know where private property is in the back country versus private owners having to post their land. Now hunters pay $30 annually just to be sure they make legal kills on public property. To me, if you can afford hundreds of thousands of acres, you either should pay to post your property or you simply own too much land to restrict hunting on it (parcel it up and post), this state's history of public access is too important for this corrupt special interest BS. Having that been said, this is a good app, now it's a must have to stay legal as a sportsman in Idaho. That's too bad, I feel sad for the older sportsman who are not in possession of advanced technology. Vote them out.
Game-Changer
by Alaska Huntmaster on 2018/12/06 17:47
When I started using a smartphone, I always said it’ll be great if someday my GPS could be a part of it... many apps have come along, but all have come up short Until onXhunt! I downloaded the app in September 2018… In October we took a great elk and mule deer on a traveling hunt to unknown units in Utah. OnXhunt was spot on. It is essential in navigating the maze of public and private lands and the off grid feature is most useful. It’s saved us time money and helped put us on animals. At home in Alaska, as my son has said, it is a “Game-Changer”... it is opening up many new spots in areas we have hunted our whole lives… Being able to pre-plan and in field navigate has made for many successful hunts. We have also used it to navigate in cities we have traveled to. Keep up the great work onX team.
This app really is that good.
by BSumners on 2018/12/14 22:32
Yes the price doesn’t come cheap, I am a Premium subscriber, but this absolutely expanded my hunting terrain. The amount of information made available to your fingertips is without exaggeration, a game changer. That’s not to say that there are not areas where improvement can’t be made, there are. But, I took it upon my self to make a recommendation on user interface, and I was congratulated that it was a good tip and may just be incorporated on the update (getting the save and undo buttons moved away from the place marker spot for the Line Distance tool). Also be a little cautious on the listing of public roads; sometimes this app does want to tell you it’s a public lane, but in reality, it is not. Beyond, I probably spend more time using this app than I should be.
Was an amazing tool, keyword was!
by Jrod2423 on 2017/11/16 11:55
I've been using this app to find landowner and property lines and it's been amazing until this most recent update that reworked the offline maps and now it is horrible. Offline maps used to be smaller and more manageable on a phone now you might get 1 whole map on your phone which is absolutely horrible compared to the dozen I had saved before and still had room for more. I don't understand why they have tried to fix something that wasn't broken, the new layout seems nice but the offline maps are ruined and that is what I rely on since I don't always have phone service, I may need to look at another mapping app. Update: Thanks but they didn't help either, also if you used the old USA topos in the past that is not an option anymore, now it's just the topo lines over a white page and that's it, you don't get the land cover coloring that should be on there. And again nothing has changed with the new updates
So out dated
by Dr. McBride on 2018/09/25 20:00
These maps or so completely out dated it's not even funny. None of the owners of properties are correct the property boundaries are 25 feet off of actual boundaries they do not have the correct boundaries for hunting zones they're off about 190 yards and I know that's because I got a huge fine from fishing game because I was 90 yards in a different zone this is the worst app for hunting it's going to get you tickets and thrown in jail then it's gonna do any good for you and on top of that they don't even allow you to go past the seven day free trial without charging $30 to your iTunes account shutting everything down because you're is no credit card attached to that iTunes account to pay the $30 I did not want to pay them in the first place. I even went in and made sure that auto renew was shut off and when I went back it was turned back on by Apple themselves just so they can shut my account down from being able to update any of my other apps.
New Update....BAD!
by KPED0307 on 2018/08/19 05:04
I wouldn’t write a review if it wasn’t for the fact on how disappointed I am with the new updates for the phone app and desktop. Before the recent updates I loved the app and was telling other friends and family that hunt public land here in Texas about it. I really don’t understand why they chose this new satellite image where it looks like it’s not clear at all (grayish) until your dang near zoom all the way in before it clears up. They also took away the feature where the last zoom ( on older versions) you can see the change of terrain i.e. pines trees vs oaks trees. Here in Texas that feature is really crucial because knowing where specific areas that have oaks eliminates excess hours of useless scouting in the pine areas or areas of no interest. I really hope I’m not the only one dealing with this and that it becomes a bad enough issue they go back to how it was. It’s still a good app as a whole but those missing features are really irritating.
Dependable Hunting-GPS App!
by russwhite98 on 2017/11/25 14:33
I’ve used onX for a couple of years now on my Garmin, but this past year was the first I used it in my phone. I was impressed with the ease of use and the app's ability to get and show my location while offline. The off grid feature is key in this type of application, of course. It works well and the off grid maps are not huge in file size so they don't take up too much space on your device. I have yet to have the app crash or lock up on me either which makes it very dependable. As a bonus, onX is working with groups like Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to add helpful layers in the map using great data that RMEF and biologists have gathered. Overall, I enjoy using this app and recommend it to other hunters out there.
Favorite Hunting, Hiking and Camping App
by aqua_man on 2019/01/31 01:46
I’ve been using the app for a few years and have really enjoyed it in all aspects of my outdoor life. It started out great, but continually evolves to be even better. It’s obvious that the guys and gals working on it also use it. I recently had a glitch and requested customer service. In very short order I had an email with a solution waiting for me. There was additional follow up to ensure my problem had been resolved. I couldn’t ask for anything better. Thanks for creating my favorite hunting tool. If you guys get bored, figure out how to give the Garmin Rinos a run for their money. I would love to be able to keep track of my hunting party via satellite on your app instead of dragging my Rino around too.
Great App
by InfantryGrunt11 on 2018/04/13 03:00
Use this app to remember where I placed all of my trail cameras, over a dozen of them scattered thru my property. I have also used it to contact neighboring land owners after I shot a deer last opening day and needed to get their permission to enter their private property before going on their land. I’ve also used it to scout infill routes and exfil routes to and from my hunting areas, marking various Stand locations, determining distances, land navigation while I have no service due to downloading the map to my phone so I can use it while off the grid, and I’ve used it to determine whether or not I want to put an offer on more acreage and who to contact to let them know I was interested if the land ever comes up for sale. Great app
Awesome one stop shop app
by Amateur newbie on 2017/10/19 22:47
This app is great. I have downloaded several before it and out of 15 or so this is the only one that is actually practical to pull out in a regular basis while scouting hunting land. Not only that you can save locations, add logs to those saved location, see how the weather and wind will affect your hunt there and so much more. You can then add pictures for references and measure distance and land area. It will track your path and the gps is spot on within 5 yards at most. Also doesn’t drain your battery. Very important. You can even save locations to view offline and share with others that you might want to share with. Much more good things it does. Seriously must try this app.
Some many issues this hunting season.
by Dhdjdkvknrjdnnfndk on 2018/09/05 05:44
OnX has been an important part of my hunting prep, planning and hunting for the past 3 seasons. This year I had scouted all summer with it with no issues until the week before season. I get into the backcountry and all my saved maps didn’t work. The next weekend they fixed the issue so all the maps now showed again but now everyone in my elk camp with an iPhone couldn’t see topo just the imagery .... this has been the case for the last 10 days. Almost worthless when trying to navigate without lines all week and extremely frustrating when you put some much effort preparing for season to be left with an app that won’t work. I am confused on how I have had no issues the past two seasons but the season even the basics for navigation would not work. :(
Best GPS app on the market!
by MM3Sam on 2018/04/25 10:38
I use this app almost daily and I am constantly using it on any outdoor trip. It’s very informative and can show you a lot more than just a regular topo map. You can use it to track your hike/hunt. You’re able to download maps of the areas you’re going to be in and use them fully even if your phone is in airplane mode. I also like how you can see public and private lands and who owns the public land. This comes in handy when you’re trying to find new places to explore. The only thing I don’t like about the app is the private land owner feature isn’t updated regularly. Needs to be updated at least every 3 months in order to get an accurate ownership.
Below average
by Gndwntheroad on 2018/01/08 06:40
As a user who has relied extensively on GPS apps for hunting/outdoor activities for over 6 years now I like to think I’m knowledgeable of this space. OnX does not impress. Reasons include: - Slow loading of app as you pan/zoom on both WiFi and on cellular coverage. - property ownership information that has not been updated in last 3+ years on some properties I’ve encountered. - bugs encountered that mistakenly display load topo maps at certain zoom levels when viewing regions in my home state. -user interface/zoom/pan/select is buggy and frequently freezes (true on both brand new recent model IPhone or the same phone a tear or two later). Now, I get the first point might be a tough knock, the app has a lot of information to process and I get that. But I feel like when you make an app for field use that the remaining 3 knocks are each a big deal. The website is a good addition and being able to save information is a solid feature. Don’t kid yourself, this would never set up for a “primary navigation” app though, it’s just much more of a head ache to use for that purpose. Overall it’s below average, i keep the yearly premium even with the flaws here. The concept is so good and useful for me that I’ll deal with the flaws as they don’t seem to be going away!
Best wilderness GPS app I’ve found
by LagunaAgent on 2018/09/24 03:34
This is an app developed by hunters for hunters. Its a must have so you know where the public and private boundaries are. Very accurate. Lots of awesome layers help you navigate burns, find access to public land, trails, terrain etc. Works on both your smart phone and desktop so you can plan your hunt on the big screen, add waypoints with notes etc before you hit the trails. Before I came across this app I was about to spend $600 on a Garmin GPS and who knows how much on topo maps for each area of interest. For under $100 per year I’ve got the entire USA with updates on my phone. I don’t get out hunting as much as I would like to living in CA but when I do, I know onX will be ready for me.
Turns the world into your back 40
by TakenNicknameDeletedMyReview on 2017/11/16 04:40
I got into hunting in my 30's, with virtually no guidance, and this app is one of the reasons why that was even possible. I use it to identify spots in preseason scouting, places off the beaten path when I need to get away from the horde, and to track where I am when I've been hiking in the dark for two hours while knowing full well that if I didn't have this with me I'd be shivering against a tree until sunrise. This thing will cut years off your learning curve if you're just starting out, and no matter what your experience level it gives you an understanding of any landscape that was only available to locals in the past. It's worth ten times what they're charging.
Gave me the confidence to change the way I hunt
by stape01 on 2017/11/13 13:20
Began using OnX last year on a WMA hunt in GA. It’s a on a island make up of thick swamp, salt marsh and palmetto. Having the OnX map down loaded in my phone gave me the confidence to go into areas and see places that before were to easy to get turned around in. My buddy downloaded it for our hunt there this year and we where able to keep up where the other was hunting and pick the best route in and out. On land near home even though I’m familiar with it, I was able to make connections with how deer are traveling from food plot to bedding areas. Best of all is not having to keep up with an additional gps. Works great on airplane mode once the map has been down loaded.
Most valuable scouting tool
by Jebbitt on 2018/08/09 19:17
OnX Hunt is my favorite scouting/hunting app. Having the ability to access both private and public land information is invaluable when hunting away from home. Living in Ohio I'm predominately a whitetail hunter, and I'm always looking for that new "stupid good" farm. Having multiple properties to scout, I save time by utilizing the topo feature to quickly locate pinch points and travel corridors, benches and saddles, valley heads, etc. Understanding how to read topography and locate these stand sites from a map saves me a ton to time in the field. OnX is very user friendly, and the ability to download and save map info ahead of time makes this app useful even in areas with no cell service.
Great app
by Ozark Ram on 2019/05/01 21:43
I bought this app when I bought a big chunk of land and wanted to mark the property lines so I didn’t trespass onto neighboring property.
A hunting “must have”
by Jumbo Dan on 2018/12/06 01:43
I purchased this app for a hunting trip to Wyoming. Lots of private land in our area we drew antelope tags. The app helped us tremendously. We would never have known where we could or couldn’t hunt without it. I could not imagine having done that trip without it. I used it on another bow hunting trip to Wisconsin with the same results. It kept us on the right property. I also used it back home for deer season. I found more property boundaries I thought I knew but really didn’t. If you hunt by any private land, you “must have” this app. Being able to download maps and have them ready when there is no internet service was also a huge asset. Thank you OnX team!!!!
Reliable Maps
by zach_comino on 2018/10/20 01:49
I have used many different types of GPS systems but this one is by far the best. This is a great one time purchase and definitely will save you money in the long run if your an avid hunter. It is very accessible and easy to down load maps with many different formats for them (topo, google earth, etc...). Not only that but other GPS’s off of phone devices I’ve found don’t always find a satellite. ONXhunt is definetly the exception and have yet to see it not find a satellite in the feild. This app is a hunters dream, public and private is spot on and from what I’ve seen always updates with new boundaries. Definitely 5 stars and a great purchase for those who love the outdoors.

Off Grid download malfunction
by Non-X on 2018/08/24 17:52
On the face OnX has potential and really the only reason to get it for me was the ability to use it for gps when off grid. Seriously if you are on grid then it might be slicker but functionally the same as google maps. Needless to say it takes too long to download map sections to the phone that I have been timed out each time I’ve tried to use it. Still no off grid maps. Waiting 40 minutes for a 300Mb file to down load is not acceptable. The cherry on the cake is that I called them today to see what is going on and the Friday before elk opener they have decided their elk hunting is more important than supporting their product. Yeah, I get it cause I’m going elk hunting with or without their maps. Time to dust off the Garmin 60CSx tried and true.
Well made app
by westernoutdoorphotography on 2018/10/04 02:33
I just wanted to take a minute to let yall know you have a great product, and some great employees out there. Last week I was hunting in Colorado with my brothers and dad. We stopped midday at Freemon's General Store to have a burger and look over a place on OnX for that evening and the following days hunt. This gentlemen came up and starts chatting with us, his name was Curtis and he is a rep for OnX. Just a super friendly guy hunting with his wife, but it made our day that he took the time out of his vacation to promote a product that works so well. Even though we were unsuccessful we got really close and made memories of a lifetime. I wanted to tell yall about my positive experience. Awesome app. Great usability.
The most important piece of hunting gear
by WIoptifade on 2017/09/18 03:19
The products from onX are the single most important tool and piece of gear hunters need before venturing into the field. The information this app provides is essential to not only an enjoyable hunt, but a legal one as well. The days of trying to figure out where you are in relation to property boundaries is over. The onXmaps Team Hunt app will show your exact position so that you are able to stay on public lands or private land you have permission to hunt on. For $30/year per state or $100/year for all 50 states, you can avoid paying massive fines for trespassing or poaching an animal out of your hunting district. Try the demo and see how onX will change the way you hunt.
WY Antelope
by NatefromMN on 2019/03/03 20:48
I’m convinced we would not have had the great success we had in our trip to WY without the On-X app. We had scouted online areas we thought would be good before we got there, from Minnesota and Reno respectively, but found these areas more conducive to mule deer then antelope. So as I continued on with my app I found and area that was exactly what we were looking for, both to hunt and camp. We were prepared to spend a week if needed. But we filled our tags in two days. All the while knowing exactly where we stood! What’s more, I’m very appreciative of On-X’s efforts in identifying land-locked public hunting and working with various entities to try to make these more accessible! THANK YOU!
More of a question than a review
by Rooster695 on 2018/10/08 00:44
Hi, I am using this app particularly in an attempt to navigate some state game area in the time of Michigan. However, I live in northeast Arkansas and hunt various public WMA’s. With that being said, the quality of the maps are somewhat diminished, when highlighted in blue, as the WMA I hunt, in particular. I would still like to be able to see the usual satellite image, with an OUTLINE of the state areas I choose to hunt. I have looked in the settings and Connor find anything that seems to do that for me. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope it has helped! Other than that, great app, especially nice feature having the offline maps. Thanks!
Use on a weekly basis
by OrionsQuest on 2018/09/24 13:26
One of the best mapping apps on the market. I used and deleted all the main gps/mapping apps before settling on OnX. The near real time transfer of waypoints and tracks from your smart phone to your account for display or review on a desktop or laptop computer is one of the highlights. Easy to select states and desires layers to start adding waypoints or reviewing maps or areas. The private landowner layer is great and with the exception of some counties that don’t have their parcels online, it’s a bunch of information at your finger tips for a cost. The only thing I don’t like is the topo maps aren’t USGS maps, they are some hybrid topo and a lot of information like peaks, hills or drainages are not show on OnX version of topo maps.
Great app! Will be a yearly subscriber!
by Why-T on 2018/03/01 01:36
This app is amazing for storing maps and having them available for when you’re in deep country where the Elk are. No bars, no problem. It is easy to use and the ability to access on the website and app makes it perfect for planning hunts and setting markers. Know where you’ve been and how far you went with the tracker, which is also a must do for showing anyone that you were where you said you were. I would like to see the elk areas layer (unless I’m missing it somewhere) mine only shows which deer unit I’m in. No offense to Muley hunters...shout out to “HuntersNation” for making me aware of the app, awesome community to be apart of.
Download Improvements?
by Ucctrba on 2018/08/12 08:58
I am really impressed with the app, and I am looking forward to using it in planning and executing several hunts this year. We are new to the state, so it has already helped to do some e-scouting. My only complaint so far is the download interface. It would be great to be able to select an entire specific hunting zone and the desired layers for download. The current “screenshot” style selection is cumbersome for high res downloads of larger areas, and I worry about missing a section of the map I may find myself in later, when out of service. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to exploring new territory using the app.

I have been using this app for about 2 years. If you hunt, fish, ranch or simply want to know who owns what and where give it a try. After trying you will want to become an elite member as it is worth every penny. I wish they had commissions as anybody who see me use this app signs up immediately.

Thanks!

by Samsquanch hunter on 2019/05/09 21:03
Saw me a samsquanch while using this. Smelled it first. It looked at me and ran. Tried to mark the location with this app and it done crashed on me. That’s how the samsquanch has remained elusive so long. Samsquanch odor interferes with gps signals.

Map layers are great!

Layers
by MattLarsenph4l on 2019/05/05 14:57
My layers don’t work, tried all the things they said to try but still not working, tried to send an email to get help, no response.

Old outdated information
by Hatt Captain on 2019/04/23 14:32

by TKZ Outdoors on 2019/04/23 13:39
This app has guided me through different properties where I knew nothing about it going in.

Great App!
by Alec L Brown on 2019/04/13 22:23
Love this app.

Not after the update
by 86435692 on 2019/03/31 03:46
Update: Since upgrading to the newest version Still not impressed with the downloadable maps and to make it even better you need to delete all the maps you saved before and redo them.

OnX Hunt

by crittenden8449 on 2019/03/21 14:19
The app itself is pretty good if you don’t expect any updates etc. purchased land and submitted change request as to ownership so would show on the map. 7 months later still no change. They developed a good app but as for most things now days, once you pay don’t expect any follow up or service. Won’t be renewing.
Game Changer

Not after the update
by 86435692 on 2019/03/31 03:46
Update: Since upgrading to the newest version Still not impressed with the downloadable maps and to make it even better you need to delete all the maps you saved before and redo them.
Life saver
by cgiven94 on 2019/02/11 02:56
If you hunt public land, big country, national forest, or if you just want to look and mark things on your own property this app os perfect!
Great app
