Great app to track progress.
by HH8822 on 2020/11/26 20:48
This is the best app to replace a paper journal, it does all the thing a journal would do but more. I like how I can plan out a workout and see the muscles worked in the heat map, the graph that shows average reps and weight used in the past is very useful too. Wish there’s a good way to track body weight workout without constantly entering bw, maybe sync with health app to update every time be changes? That would be perfect!
The best app for tracking weight and gym progress.
by Alpha,Bravo,Charlie on 2020/11/25 12:13
I have used many apps over the the past two years and by far no other app compares to this app. This app has everything for only a fraction of money. You just have to pay once and the app is yours. I would have given it 5 stars but the only reason i am giving it 4 stars is because you dont have an option to attach more than one photo for your custom workouts. Other than this, its perfect in every way.
The best weightlifting app
by groupMaster on 2020/11/13 19:05
I’ve been using this app for years. I have 1.5 Million lbs logged. The PRO features are worth the cost. I hope they come up with PRO+ and raise the price because it’s worth it. I use the app to plan progressive overload workouts where I slightly increase the weight or reps every time I perform the workout. This leads to consistent GAINZ!
Great/customizable
by Shaddox11 on 2020/11/13 18:32
I’ve been using this app for over 5 years. It allows you to easily customize your workouts however much you would like to. Would highly recommend.
Nice
by valerius257 on 2020/11/12 06:44
Really nice app for gym but Apple Watch app missing some key features like timer between sets.
Perfect for Gym logs
by tguder on 2020/11/02 21:28
I primarily use it on my Apple Watch and love the app. One feedback: please add a Dark theme for iPhone. That’s the only missing feature. Thanks.
Best (and cheapest) workout app
by Jobsecurity4502 on 2020/11/01 03:56
Let’s be clear as to what this isn’t. You’re not going to get some “coach” or any sort of workout program to follow. Basically, it’s a computerized version of you putting pencil to paper in tracking your workouts. It’s free, or a $5 one time fee and the one time fee allows you to do things like save your workouts in the cloud and a lot more exercises. It also graphs your reps and weight which is a great tool to see visually how you are progressing. I love it. I encourage anyone serious about working out to use this.
It’s pretty much perfect, don’t change anything

Simple to use... great
Scam! Payment stolen and no service
by boniato10 on 2020/10/24 16:28
I was using this app with no problem for several months. Then I decided to purchase the platinum offer to have access to the rest of the services. Big mistake! It processed my payment, sucked the money in, and then told me the purchase was “unable to complete”. Great! No customer service available. Nothing. What a pity, one of the few work-out apps in the market that offered a great deal ruined by this. Nobody likes their money stolen boys.
Best workout planner
by Billybobahoy on 2020/10/22 19:30
It takes you right into the action. No memberships, annoying ads, or sign up accounts. Very simple, but could use an update on workouts such as Pull ups/Delt raises/etc.
A really helpful tool
by NinjaEMT on 2020/10/22 12:20
I found this app and gave it a try. I purchased an upgraded version and do not regret it. I currently have 5 different workout plans stored in the app: GVT, 5x5, total body 3x week, lean muscle EDDF, and a basic intermediate mass plan. I love that it keeps track of my progress and it has a rest timer. It keeps me going and my head rate up. I’ve added a ton of custom exercises and the app comes with a ton of exercises. I record everything via my Apple Watch but you don’t need one to use the app. I highly recommend this app. UPDATE: I have lost over 20lbs and 4 inches on my waist. I have been able to stick to my program and seen continued success with the help of Gymbook. UPDATE 2: with the new iOS update, my workouts are being saved to the wrong day. Sometimes it’s the prior day. Sometimes it is a week ago. I uninstalled the app and installed it again and it still has this problem. I still love the app. It does everything I need and is easy to use. Hopefully a bug fix is released soon.
Best Workout App
by UttW on 2020/10/13 23:01
GymBook is one of the best workout apps I have used. It keeps me focused on my workouts and helps me track my progress with each workout. The addition of no monthly fee makes this the best workout app out right now!
One of the best!
by Taylor Extraordinary on 2020/10/12 06:25
All around great work out app I’ve used to keep track of my workouts and routines.
Simple but intuitive
by MRanCof on 2020/10/12 02:00
Downloaded numerous apps over the course of a few weeks and tried each to find exactly what I was looking for....GymBook was exactly that. Features, design, and capabilities was exactly what I needed but there is so much more than I thought I would need. Worth every penny
Just as good as Strong app
by tenstemsandroses on 2020/10/08 17:51
...but $5.99 for a lifetime instead of $30/year! I really like how you can customize the graphics for every new exercise you create to show the primary and secondary muscle group activation. The exercise library is smaller than some other apps but the custom graphics option when I am creating a new exercise makes up for it. Because of that, it’s actually really fun to add new exercises! The UI is clean and serviceable. You can put your exercises into groups like a superset. Or just any way you want to categorize them. However it would just be that much more intuitive if I could press one button for superset. It is not at all a big deal but just an idea for future updates. One small complaint is that to save an exercise, I MUST put in each exercise set and reps and weight when I am creating a routine instead of adding these numbers while I am working out. It would be nice to make it optional instead of necessary. Overall this is an excellent fitness tracking app and I like it very much. I signed up for the 2 month Pro trial in the much more popular Strong app only two days ago, but I’m going to cancel it. The ability to see the muscle groups when I’m adding a new exercise makes me prefer GymBook much more. The UI is slightly different but overall the functions are pretty much the same for what I need. I would say for people who may be more beginners to working out, this will have more of a steep learning curve but still manageable. Just because it is your own responsibility to create exercise routines. If you have no gym experience, I would recommend working with a personal trainer for 3-6 months and adding every exercise routine they give you into this app, then reusing them on your own afterwards. However if you have been going to the gym for longer and just need a simple, clean way to create routines and track your progress, this app has everything you need at the best price.
Great workout tracking app
by FruitPop!!!!!!!!!! on 2020/10/06 17:39
Very simple and easy to use. Exactly what I’ve been looking for Pros: -Easy to add exercises to the library that don’t already exist -Simple of interface -Reasonable costs and great free access -Basic index of pre-loaded movements Areas for improvement: -No index of cardio exercises. Would like to plan my whole workout with this one app including my warmups with stationary bike, incline walks, etc -No option to share workouts with friends/family -Needs more cable exercises (Don’t mind adding them manually tho; it can be time consuming)
Best workout app out there (I tried like 15!)
by eliashh on 2020/10/03 06:25
I’m a beginner to strength training, and I wanted a workout app that would allow me to easily input my exercise routines, could track my progress with nice graphs, and had a simple and pleasant user interface. I tried TONS of iPhone apps (pretty much every one I could find), and GymBook was my favorite. Just about everything I wanted and needed, and the price was amazing too. The only negative thing (which some other reviewers have mentioned too), is that the interface for editing and navigation is not completely intuitive. But after not too long of playing around with it, it wasn’t too hard for me to figure everything out. Overall, highly recommend 👍
Widget
by Raymondp1331 on 2020/09/27 22:22
This is a great app but I’m hoping they take it vantage of the new iOS update which is widget to see my progress without opening the app
Simple and affordable
by i475tekk on 2020/09/26 03:59
Took me a while to find the app that fits my needs, but I’m so happy I finally found the one app that fit what I need at the moment. For only $5.99 one time payment you get all of the features ! What’s not to love... Great job please keep up the awesome work, continue to maintain and improve the app on regular basis and please do not give up on this app! Ps please add more compound exercises options for building mass.(dumbbells & barbells) And more exercises in general. Thanks for the marvelous work.
The BEST lifting app EVER
by GayPuppy on 2020/09/18 02:52
I can write paragraphs of how good this is but the gains speak for themselves. I can know bench my own body weight 32 times. The way it motivates to increase your weight and continue increasing your strength is second to none. Buy it now
Easy to use and feature rich
by Corbinov on 2020/09/10 03:07
I have looked for some time for a workout log that was the right mix of simple to use but feature rich. This app has all the features I need and almost none that I do not. It is also well written in how it assists in the logging to cut down on typing. If you are looking for a weight training logging app I highly recommend this one.

Great app
by Bacillus on 2020/09/01 19:04
Love this app for so many reasons (1) no yearly blood-sucking subscription (2) reasonably priced upgrade path (3) iPad native version (4) iCloud sync (5) easy to access demonstration videos The visual simplicity is very welcomed.
App looks great
by Demetheus on 2020/08/18 08:38
For now I am probably picking this above all the rest. Is this app still in development?
Simple and effective
by BruhwtfbegoingonwitIOS8? on 2020/08/06 18:46
The simplest and cheapest app to track your lifts and create workouts!! Would love to see better organization features like folders in the workout menu as well as the option to create supersets by linking different exercises (the “group” system just doesn’t cut it in my opinion).

Finally!!!
by Brygmar on 2020/07/19 20:47
Every other app has preconfigured workouts and trail memberships for the year. This app let you design your own workouts with what you have accessible in your own way. Reminders, logs, editing format, pictures, it’s got it all. All for only 6$. I’ve been looking for an app like this for a week. Thank you very much.
Awesome App, Awesome Value
by Converters on 2020/07/08 21:22
This app is awesome for everything is provides! The platinum version is an absolute steal compared to competitor apps. The only feedback I have is about deleting exercises. If I delete or edit an exercise from the default list and close the app, the exercise shows up again when I launch the app the next time!
Great First Impressions
by Jetpcker on 2020/06/18 14:03
Started using this app after “Stacked” went downhill with the update that completely redid how the app looks and functions. This app is fast and loads offline which is nice. You can use all the features that you would ever need for a gym log from the get-go, but the paid features are also nice. Even better because they aren’t a subscription based service. There is definitely a learning curve, but once you get used to it, it’s a solid app.
Simple, AW integration, Custom routines!
by Select User on 2020/06/08 02:16
I just wanted a workout app that did 2 things. 1. Replace my workout print outs and journal. 2. Allow me to leave my phone somewhere else so I could focus on working out with only my Apple Watch. This app does those things and does them well! It has a few more features and I think is simple to use. You can build a workout routine and add custom exercises quickly. You even get some reports to help plan future goals and track your progress. I definitely recommend this app and hope it does well as I think it’s better than the expensive training apps. Be your own trainer and check this app out!
Absolutely fantastic
by ldox32 on 2020/05/30 18:37
No subscription payments!!! Does everything I hoped it would and more quite easily. No ads!! I was so happy about it that I just decided to spend $5 on the full benefits version just to support the app. It’s great.
Awesome app!
by Lady LaCroix on 2020/05/20 09:30
This app does pretty much everything I need it to do and it does it well. The two (minor) issues I have are that sometimes the timers don’t work correctly on super sets and I wish there was a way to input an unplanned drop set easily, mid workout.. if there is, I haven’t found it yet. Aside from that, awesome app.. highly recommended!

Honestly a great app worth the premium upgrade!! Best gym app I’m been able to find that doesn’t want the arm and leg you didn’t work out on today. Simple & Exquisite. Developers keep up the good work ladies & gents!
I’ve never left a review before...
by C Bebop on 2020/02/27 21:14
You’ve really created a wonderful app that 1. Isn’t a subscription and 2. What we actually sang as consumers. A great app for creating workout routines which has useful tools that allows us to track progress. After weeks of searching, I stumbled on a Reddit page which highly recommended the app. Once again thanks Reddit and Thanks dev team
Great Workout App!

Intuitive and easy to use, this app really is great!
Love the app! But ...
by kander1001 on 2020/02/01 17:09
I love this app used it for a month for my workouts and loved it. However, I found that the scroll feature to input reps and weight started to get quite annoying after a period of time. When I compared it to apps with a type feature for reps and weights it just makes it so much easier! Hope you consider this.
Great app that could be even better
by Mamabarrof4 on 2020/01/31 12:35
This is a great app for tracking your workouts, but it could benefit from additional exercises. I even paid the extra in hopes of finding what I needed, but still had to create several of my own. Once I set up all the exercises, it’s great at tracking weights and reps. Would recommend.
Such a great app!
by nomadic yeti on 2020/01/30 18:38
This app is perfect at the gym! I’ve planned my whole workout for each day (legs day, chest day, etc). I get to the gym and just start going through the workout. So intuitive as well!
Great app
by Slim121 on 2020/01/27 14:41
This app is great, and I love that the full app is just a one time, very reasonable payment. Most of these apps charge a monthly fee, which is ridiculous.
Great app for record keeping
by keithg1331 on 2020/01/26 18:05
The app is great for record keeping and comparing your progress over past workouts. However I had to create a lot of the exercises I log. The selection of exercises are limited. Still the best app I’ve found for logging workouts and showing personal progress!
Excellent App
by oldrocket on 2020/01/26 00:18
This app has been just what I’ve been looking for to quickly track my weight workouts. The interface is clean and uncluttered, and recording sets and reps is a snap. I especially like the ability to customize images for exercises, it allows me to upload photos of Hammer Strength illustrations on the machines indicating muscles used. I also like the timer between sets, it helps keep the session moving along. Thanks for keeping on top of bug fixes, and for providing such a great app.
First impression -Great
by smclennan89 on 2020/01/19 05:31
Easy to learn. Needs more exercises, but it is free, in time. Great app!
The best workout app
by TheKis3r on 2020/01/18 20:19
This has to be the best workout companion app in the AppStore and definitely worth the $5. No unreasonable monthly subscription, excellent Apple Watch app, easy to set up and use, prompts for increasing reps and/or weight if you outdo yourself in a set (can be configured to not prompt and handle it one way or the other), and responsive devs. I had an issue a while ago where a workout would be wiped when I went to complete it in the app. I sent the developer an email and he promptly got back to me and had it fixed within a couple of updates. There's several built-in workouts to choose from when building your routines but it doesn't have everything. Thankfully adding custom workouts is simple and doesn't take much time. Navigating the built-in workouts could be improved with collapsible sections or a filter/nav to help you get to the muscle group you're after quickly, though. If you want something to track your workouts I can't recommend this app enough. It's nearly perfect but is well supported by the devs and for the price it can't be beat.
Very good tracker
by NotNowRobo on 2020/01/18 02:50
Overall, GymBook works really well. I’ve been able to pretty easily track my exercises and progress. I did purchase the total package (~$6) and have enjoyed the extra features. Few things I would like to change is a better system for adding images/gifs that look similar to other exercises already in the app in the custom exercise creator. Also, I’d prefer if the reps/weight updated on the main screen instead of just when you click on the exercise. Would make it easier to set things up when doing supersets instead of looking at each exercise in detail before starting.
Love this app

Great app
by FitHobo on 2020/01/16 18:20
I’ve downloaded about 10 apps like this one. I want to see which ones are good. So far if you like to log your workouts this ones great!!! It pretty much does everything. It would be great if they added a social community to it. Maybe it’s in the works.
Useful and customizable
by Dev and UI Designer on 2020/01/12 08:52
Grouping exercises in cycles and setting custom rest timers makes this the most useful app for custom workouts. It's also the only app I've found that allows text notes for every set of a workout. The exercise pictures are handy!
Don’t look anywhere else!
by sadrieh on 2020/01/09 00:58
The others just don’t get it. This is UX, UI and respect for free form customization of anything you need. Trust me. This is it. Used em all... done with this app. Thank you for being attentive to your users 👏🏼👍🏼💥
Great Ap For Easy Tracking
by Bleubell23 on 2020/01/05 19:46
Exactly what I was looking for easy tracking and flexibility, and not a subscription! I was looking for something that would allow me to track both weight training and exercise and stretches from physical therapy on my phone and watch. I really like that I can add my own exercises as well as create workouts and groupings within those that aligns to my routines. I also like that I don’t have to schedule my workouts. My routine varies based on a number of factors so that flexibility is great. Also appreciate the simplicity as I’m already well educated in weight training and don’t need the extras that come with subscription services. It would be great if you could: - Add exercises that were time based or resistance rather than weights based as my PT focus on aspects but this isn’t a limit factor in being able to add these types of exercises. - I find the usefulness of the graphs limit. I’d love a calendar view that would let you click a date and it would show what exercises by workout you did on that day. -Also, as a woman, it would be great to have a female version of the person image rather than just the default male. But overall, after trying all of the other weight training apps, this is the winner. Agreat app that does what I need it to do.
Love this app!

Best lifting app I’ve used so far.
by Stan23432 on 2019/12/31 05:14
Not overly complex but not bare bones basic either. Love the app it’s easy to log and track lifts. Only suggestion is that they update the number and variety of workouts more often.
Great App!!!

Great App!!! I use it everyday.
Seriously why are you asking for endourcement
by Lamonfirst on 2019/12/19 00:00
Hi GymBook, I actually use the app, contribute to desires, like asking for my heartbeats to show up when I work out on my Apple Watch, fix the lack of workout settings between my imperial an metric settings as I travel a lot and what do I find in this last update...... a pleat to upgrade the score. This is not okay, work on the fullfillment of the request do not waist time forcing endearment We all workout to get the results, we don’t rely on freebies

by ChampAgain on 2019/12/16 19:33
Very good app! Works well with my Apple Watch so I don’t have to use my phone between sets. Just simply set up your workout on your phone before you start with the many exercises on the app or make up your own and save. Then you can use on your watch.
Perfect for its purpose
by thatguyrhcp on 2019/12/05 05:48
This app is the best of its kind. There a hundreds on the App Store asking for subscriptions, $5, etc. This app is not only free but goes beyond just a normal journal. I use it for all my workouts and have for over a year now 10/10
Love How I Can Track My Lifting
by bpkenyon on 2019/11/28 02:32
This has made it so easily to track my workouts. There are plenty of preset lifts built in that you can use in your workout, but if for some reason it’s not in there, it’s easy to create it from scratch, as well as putting in what muscles that lift works. I also like how it tells you the difference in terms of total weight you lifted as well as how much longer or shorter it took you from the previous workout. My only complaint, and it’s a minor one is that when using the watch app, it doesn’t track your calories, heart rate, etc. I just use the stock Apple weight training tracker to do this. Keep up the good work!
Good app over all
by Sqrly Brly on 2019/11/21 20:44
The app is awesome for building and tracking workouts. The only thing I wish it would do is sync with Garmin, Apple, Under-armor apps.
Great app but...
by facerocket on 2019/11/14 14:06
The app is great. It offers fantastic features and beat of all it is simple. It has all the features without all the bloat that other apps have. The history feature is nice to have... However there is no support from the dev team. Ive emailed several times and never received any reply. The app doesn’t seem to support history longer than 30 days. The weight scroll bar could be swapped for a number pad, would make things a bit easier.

Clean, intuitive design and stable. I was looking for an app to log/track my strength training so I didn’t need paper and pencil in the gym. This app is the perfect solution. I like the added bonus of having exercises available in the app. Export and backup features are great. Definitely worth the money for the platinum version.

Zero issues, would like kg and lbs together
by revenant ananias on 2019/10/18 11:50
Update I still like this app 100%. But I would like to add some workouts that I use often such as wide-grip lat pull-ups. I like that this app is minimalist and I like the price. Oher workout apps want exorbitant amounts of yearly money to make their apps functional. This one is just right, and not just because of the price. Though I found the watch app a bit tricky, after playing with it for about 2 minutes I understood it well enough. Lastly, I would like to see kg and lbs both at the same time. My gym has both types of measurements and I have to keep converting them outside the app to put the right weight in.
Five year anniversary
by timinac on 2019/10/14 14:06
Today’s workout will begin my 6th year of using GymBook. After an initial tryout, I paid the unlock fee. Over the years, I have seen continual improvements and the addition of new features. I have never had to pay for any of those updates. Like someone else commented, I appreciate the overall summary at the end of each workout. I also love the new white text on black background option. While I have an Apple Watch, I normally use it to control my music and occasionally check my heart rate while using my phone to log the workout.
Best basic tracker
by 45Caliber on 2019/10/10 16:22
I just wanted to move from filling out tracking worksheets to recording workouts on my phone. Of a dozen or so apps I tried, all had restrictions on the most basic functions without paid upgrades (2-3 workout limit, no custom exercises, no backups, etc.) and the paid upgrades were usually insane. $100/yr for simple rep tracking??! Though GymBook is a bit cumbersome in building routines, it at least let’s you do so in the free app without limitations. If you then want to add more stock exercises or other “extra” bells and whistles, it’s only a one-time charge of $5.99 to fully unlock those features (or $1.99 per ad-hoc feature). My only real complaint is the app’s inability to set durations instead of reps. This is addressed in the FAQ with a clunky workaround, but I don’t quite understand why it’s difficult to incorporate as it seems a simple data point switch.
Exactly what I needed

I looked a long time for a simple app that I could use to track my workouts without a subscription. This app is perfect for my needs. It’s great and I’m looking forward to seeing where this app goes in the future.
Thank you GymBook

I have tried dozens of workout apps. They all had one thing or the other that I didn’t like about them. GymBook on the other hand checks all of the boxes. I honestly didn’t need to buy the full version but did anyway because I was so pleased with the app. Works seamlessly with the Apple Watch as well!
Very intuitive and easy to use

I compared and tested many apps, and this one wins by far! Very intuitive, and easy to log. The post-workout summary is awesome, and it’s very easy to track your progress. I highly recommend this app.
On the fence

Very new to the app. Just started with the free app and I’m not quite impressed which is making me doubt to invest the money to get the premium. So far there are very limitations on exercises. An exercise like cable row is not even in the list. I had create it. But outside of that which I think with the premium may include more exercises, the design is a little bit unfriendly. I can barely see the letters that are in the black against the red backfire. they’re very small and I can’t see them. The timer is very small I can’t see it and it doesn’t make any kind of noise to let me know when the time is up. Please make these more visible What is better with the premium version?

Most Straightforward of Workout Apps
by DavidW987 on 2019/08/27 15:49
I’ve deleted all the other workout apps from my phone. GymBook makes it easier to select from a broad variety of exercises (or generate your own) and assemble them into your customized workout plan. It is the easiest of all the apps to quickly note the weight and reps for each set. You can then track your workout numbers and (this is really cool) by muscle groups. I’ve been using GymBook for several months now. I really appreciate the continuous additions of new features. Absolutely worth the one time charge for the Platinum version.

Most intuitive workout tracker
by lkunze3 on 2019/07/09 11:51
This app is fantastic! No glitches, no frills, just exactly what I need for my workout. I love the timer, and the options to stop it or hide it during a workout. I love that it will set a new goal weight for you after you’ve achieved your previous goal. And the logs are very informative, allowing me to see my true trends over time (Maximum, Average, or Total reps/weight lifted each workout). My only wish is that I could get the logs to graph my 1RM over time, but that’s a minor point, because it shows me my 1RM for each set of an exercise while I’m doing it in the workout. The exercise selections cover the basics, I’ve only needed to add a couple of my own exercises (and that process is super quick and easy). Creating your own workout from scratch is so easy, not like other apps I’ve tried that make the process clunky and complex. I don’t think I’ll use any other app for my workouts because GymBook has truly made this app seamless.

As an avid lifter this app has the simple structure I look for, yet is insanely cheap for the premium version. (One time payment of $5) Updates I would highly recommend: Have a Bigger Variety of Workouts to pick from. Include other basic cardio workouts: Stair Steppers, Stationary Bike, etc. Put the Exercises in alphabetical order. Personally, I don’t enjoy the fact all the exercises are separated by their respective body part which aren’t even in alphabetical order, so you have to search for it. Although it’s a great idea, that’s why we have filters to better locate those exercises. (Another idea, FILTERS) Give the Ability to rename and personalize the names of the exercises. I personally have a few exercises I like to call certain things, and I think if I had the ability to rename the exercises this app would be soooo good. Overall, it seems like a good app. I see a ton of potential and hope the Devs will take this review seriously and look into small adjustments like that. — Fingers Crossed!!!

I love the app, so much I bought the premium stuff even though I feel the exercises you unlock just isn’t enough, I’ve been going to the gym for about 5 years now and there are some essential machine exercises that they just didn’t include, besides that it’s just perfect.
This app has really great potential BUT...
by bhanson32 on 2019/04/04 03:26
The only issue I have with this app is the timer functionality. I have transferred by setting up all the custom exercises and workouts from another app into this one. I understand there is a global timer and you can individually set test times for each exercise. However when I transition from a cardio to strength exercise the timer does not work for the individual time I set it for. I don’t even know what the “second timer” is supposed to be used for because no hints explained it. I wish there was a manual for this app to specifically explain all of its functionality. Who knows this could be a bug but I need this to be fixed especially since I think the Platinum in-app purchase is a “must-buy” to use this app fully.

I’m a minimalist at heart. I hate crowded apps. Clunky apps. This app is clean and everything I could have wanted, plus more. For a very small ONE TIME price (I’ve paid more for a single beer), I can create my own workout and save it. I can log my workouts each time and it will let me know the weight I did last time so I can either progress or stay the same. Jefit has this weird glitch where it would keep the same weight you did last time no matter what day of the week it was. Plus all the ads and having to sign up for the online profile as well. Yea, no. Get this app....once you learn how it works you won’t look back. Very impressed with this one. Plus you can change the color of the app on your home screen! 10/10. Best Lift Tracking App
by FR!TZ on 2019/02/06 15:23
There are tons of workout tracker apps these days, and most of them require a monthly subscription fee of $5+/month. To be honest, I’m pretty sure the cheapest I found during my search was $10/month. At any rate, this app is free, but if you want to unlock all the features, it’s just $5 ONE TIME. You can unlock specific features for less than that btw. I used the free version for a few weeks and it was good. I loved that I could add an unlimited number of exercises and workouts, and that I could just use my Apple Watch during the workout. I unfortunately couldn’t get the timer alarm to work on the free version for some reason. While I worked with tech support on the issue, I decided that regardless, I like the app and wanted to support them, so I upgraded to the full version (again, just $5 one time). The notable impacts that had for me was adding some pre-made movements and (the big one for me) unlocking auto start timer. Now I’m able to log my lift after each set and once I log it, the timer auto starts. Lucky for me, this fixed my issues with the timer. Now it does everything I wanted out of the app, and i don’t have to keep spending money on it! There are other features that come with the upgrade, but they aren’t coming to me at the moment. Their website spells it out well, so check it out. Anyways, collectively, this is by far the best value workout app for my needs I’ve found and I definitely recommend it.

Great app, worth the upgrade for the features. Perfect for tracking your weightlifting and evaluating progress. Took a little bit to figure it out- the features aren't super clear, but they are there... I wish the app would automatically sync/backup with iCloud. Its easy enough to do it manually, and I am so grateful for the features and price that I’m happy to give 5 stars. The graphing features are nice, but not totally customizable. If you want to graph things very specifically, it’s easy enough to import to excel. The pictures/ muscle group heat maps aren’t as accurate or customizable as I would like, but it’s a very minor issue. For example: I know I'm working my rhomboids but no exercises seem to turn them blue on the heat-map... :) not a big deal, just not quite perfect. Also, a plate calculator would be nice, but not essential.

Best workout logger out there.
by gsusnake on 2018/02/19 18:10
Short version: just download it already and pay the $5. You won’t regret it. Best money I’ve spent on my workouts since I bought my Alpha Grips. Long version: I’m a fairly experienced lifter who doesn’t need to be told or shown how to do a workout or an exercise. I have my own plans I do and most of the workouts available on the App Store don’t do what I want them to do. This one is perfect. I’ve tried all the current gym log apps out there. BodySpace, FitList, Gymatic, Gymaholic, and several others not worth mentioning. BodySpace is great, but no Apple Watch support. FitList is great except you have to uninstall and reinstall every month or so when it stops syncing to your watch and you lose all your data, even if you’ve paid for premium. And the other two are way too expensive. I used an app called GymBuddy way back when on the first gen iPhone and it was terrific, but unfortunately it’s no longer supported or updated. GymBook is similar to that in that you can add your own exercises, make custom workouts, and it doesn’t get in your way with trying to show or tell you what to do. This app works seamlessly with the Apple Watch for logging, tracks your workouts to Apple health so you close your rings, and for $5????? Hell yeah I’ll take it! I’d give 10 stars if I could.
Great app—wish it synced to cloud
by wrh25 on 2018/08/20 03:25
I love this app. It’s super intuitive and easy to use. The watch and iPhone apps are easy to use. I have two points of feedback: 1. I wish this update synced with the cloud. I had built a ton of workouts into this app as I used it for more than a year. I then receive a new iPhone and wanted to start fresh. Since most everything is in the cloud these days, I simply started over with a clean new iPhone and all of my iCloud items refreshed—but not this app. All of my workouts and exercises I had spent hours entering over the past year had been erased. I also found that there is an iPad app and it does not sync with my iPhone app. This means if I add an exercise to my iPhone, I will have to enter it again on my iPad. Depending on the workout I will use a different device so I need the devices to be interchangeable. Please add cloud capabilities. 2. More workouts. I upgraded to unlock all the workouts and I still find myself entering a ton of workouts. Please add more so I don’t have to tediously enter more. I would even go to a marketplace to buy more workouts so I don’t have to enter them and they come with the professional images. Please add more workouts! Other than that, the app is basically perfect.

Forget Strong, All About GymBook
by BradleyBradford on 2017/11/28 23:41
Before this I had literally tried every Apple watch supported workout app out there (FitList, Strong, etc). I’ve been struggling for some time to get an app that is able to seamlessly track a workout even away from the phone using my watch for a reasonable price... until now. $4.99 for the lifetime full upgrade? Easily the best $5 I’ve spent on my health in quite some time, especially if you compare to the only other app that works equally as well: Strong for $5/month or $100 for lifetime (which is completely ridiculous). Download it, pay the $5, learn the strength and simplicity of the app, create the workout(s) on your phone, sync it to your watch, crush said workout AND track it all with ease (even with awesome set timers and watch haptics) and you definitely won’t regret it. This is the one you want, so get it (before they realize they gave the key to gym-logging heaven out for a couple shekels haha).

A Clean Weightlifting App
by Nickolas.Lupo on 2017/09/26 21:04
The app can be slightly confusing at first due to its very minimalist design. However, after you figure out how logging works, it's lack of clutter becomes its greatest strength. My only improvement is to add a greater variety cardio exercises. Additionally, jogging is only tracked in minutes, and while I understand a lot of lifters don't fret about the seconds and rarely run, most average people (and the Army) do. Seeing running mileage broken down by pace and heart rate graphically would be awesome. I gave this App 5 stars because the graphical data and various modes of displaying it is unparalleled. Please add a way to share your workout (not just your performance) with other users, that way I can make workouts for my wife. ;)
Finally
by Purrreow on 2018/05/08 14:44
A lot of the apps for lifting want to suggest workouts for you and want you to pay for them. This app lets you easily put your own workouts in (great for anything above beginner lifting) and tracks progress. Very minimalistic which is great, and it’s free if you want it to be. You can add your own exercises and edit the preloaded ones. Love the muscle heat map feature, too. Overall, this app is great. I chose to pay the $5 because I thought it was worth it but you can definitely use this app without the added cost. I was able to find this great app by reading someone else’s review so I hope this one helps anyone just looking for a way to log your workouts besides google sheets! :)
Keep up the good work!

by timinac on 2019/10/14 14:06
Today’s workout will begin my 6th year of using GymBook.

Great App
by CullenMachado on 2018/07/09 07:01
Best workout logger out there, worth spending the 5$ for sure. Really helpful and straight forward to log all your workouts so you know what you’re going to do instead of the old going in and just figuring it out off of what body part you’re doing that day, I recommend it to everyone that I workout with. Only downside is it doesn’t have a lot of preset workouts you can quickly add to your workout schedule but*** luckily you can create your own if they don’t already have the preset so you can still log it.
Great update, continually awesome
by signalfade on 2017/11/07 04:27
I love the ease of use of this application. Prior to finding it, I always did a terrible job of recording my workouts and never knew about my gains (or losses). This app makes it quite easy to set up your workouts, add exercises that don't exist in the app, and now, it finally starts auto-adjusting the number wheels when I gain so that my scrolling finger doesn't also get a ridiculous workout. Also, they keeps adding workouts to the “platin” package, so, after you pay for the upgrade once, you keep gettin’ more!
On the fence
by Glostrong on 2019/09/04 02:24
Very new to the app.
Great Workout App
by rarely do i review apps 45 on 2019/01/19 07:02
Great app, worth the upgrade for the features.
Great gym app
by Chubsthelaw on 2018/01/19 08:31
Great app for keeping your workout schedule while showing you a break down of your workout after completion It doesn’t have that many kinds of cardio workouts and could use some more weight lifting workouts but it does let you make your own which is very nice and helpful Overall this is a must have if you go to the gym to lift and it’s very affordable compared to all the rest of the gym apps
Good, almost great
by ldferguson on 2017/11/13 18:39
This is a great app. I am able to set it up for my modified StrongLifts 5x5 easily. It looks great on the Apple Watch, but be careful, if you view the iPhone app while using the watch it resets your workout. Also beware of these other issues: - even though you’ve set auto increment, it will not and you have to modify your workout plan with your increased weight targets. - if you have the same workout on different days (squats) it won’t show the last squat exercise but instead shows the last squat for that workout.
Really solid!
by Jerome10 on 2018/12/06 21:59
I bought this app to replace one that isn't updated anymore, and I've enjoyed it so far. I am hoping for some more stock exercises, but the create-your-oen is simple enough. The reason for not 5 stars: when you tap "Done" on an edit, it should take you all the way out of edit mode, but it just takes you back one step. No other app really operates that way... It's a standard protocol in work flow for computers. Please fix this write me if you have questions! It's really tedious.
Easy to use and feature rich

I have looked for some time for a workout log that was the right mix of simple to use but feature rich. This app has all the features I need and almost none that I do not. It is also well written in how it assists in the logging to cut down on typing. If you are looking for a weight training logging app I highly recommend this one.

Absolutely THE top lifting tracker for the Watch
by Tazdrummer on 2018/09/04 11:06
I’ve ran the gambit on most every tracker out there for tracking my workouts. The ONLY flaw I can find is you can’t see your heart rate while in the middle of a workout (but honestly, it’s not a show stopper.... there’s only so much real estate on a Series 3 Watch... ). Top notch work on this app. I’ve suggested it to my friends who lift and have an Apple Watch.

Well worth the upgrade. Tons of customization and nice design. From what I could see this is world above anything else. Reminds me of the 5x5 StrongLifts app but you aren’t stuck to that program. I loaded StrongLifts into GymBook and can still have other programs, and have more control. It would be cool if there was a community or official library of workouts to download.
Best Workout App
by Gilmonti on 2018/12/31 00:27
After trying a few other workout apps I learned of GymBook and man, am I glad I did. It has pretty much every exercise imaginable, has an easy-to-use interface and is very flexible. I like being able to save routines so I don’t have to remake them when I want to switch things up. I just dial up a former workout and off to the gym. Good stuff!
Finally!!!
by Brygmar on 2020/07/19 20:47
Every other app has preconfigured workouts and trail memberships for the year.
Thank you GymBook
by Bwhite4128 on 2019/09/28 19:02
I have tried dozens of workout apps. They all had one thing or the other that I didn’t like about them. GymBook on the other hand checks all of the boxes. I honestly didn’t need to buy the full version but did anyway because I was so pleased with the app. Works seamlessly with the Apple Watch as well!
Bug with update
by Love_to_Think on 2017/09/16 21:15
Love this app, BUT now I can't go back and see my workouts by date or notes on previous workouts. The date will load under workout by date, but it is not clickable and shows "0" exercises completed. If I try to go back and look at a previous workout's notes in each exercise, the log shows the reps and weight but the notes don't load. Love the app but please fix these bugs!!
Perfect
by Cshriner on 2019/10/27 17:36
Clean, intuitive design and stable. I was looking for an app to log/track my strength training so I didn’t need paper and pencil in the gym. This app is the perfect solution. I like the added bonus of having exercises available in the app. Export and backup features are great. Definitely worth the money for the platinum version.
Perfect for Intermediate and Up
by StarfruitWine17 on 2018/08/23 14:29
I’ll echo what lots of folks have said: if you already know what you’re doing in the gym, this app is great. It’s clean, works smoothly, and has everything you need to plan and track your lifts. If you are an intermediate lifter or higher who doesn’t need a guiding hand at the gym, definitely give this app a shot.

What’s not to love... Great job please keep up the awesome work, continue to maintain and improve the app on regular basis and please do not give up on this app! Ps please add more compound exercises options for building mass.(dumbbells & barbells) And more exercises in general. Thanks for the marvelous work.

This is not okay, work on the fullfillment of the request do not waist time forcing endearment We all workout to get the results, we don’t rely on freebies

Exactly what I needed
by Witward on 2019/10/02 16:48

I have tried dozens of workout apps. They all had one thing or the other that I didn’t like about them. GymBook on the other hand checks all of the boxes. I honestly didn’t need to buy the full version but did anyway because I was so pleased with the app. Works seamlessly with the Apple Watch as well!

On the fence
by Glostrong on 2019/09/04 02:24
Very new to the app.

Perfect...exactly what I was looking for.

Has potential, But could use Improvements
by Skiddywompus on 2019/04/15 05:11
As an avid lifter this app has the simple structure I look for, yet is insanely cheap for the premium version.
Great, but...
by GmanBrown on 2019/04/13 14:45
I love the app, so much I bought the premium stuff even though I feel the exercises you unlock just isn’t enough, I’ve been going to the gym for about 5 years now and there are some essential machine exercises that they just didn’t include, besides that it’s just perfect.
Who knows this could be a bug but I need this to be fixed especially since I think the Platinum in-app purchase is a “must-buy” to use this app fully.

by JaboAnthony on 2019/03/13 19:37
I’m a minimalist at heart. 10/10. Trust me, I scour Reddit and websites for the best, and this one wasn’t even mentioned except by one person. Well here’s another real user. Do it.

Anyways, collectively, this is by far the best value workout app for my needs I’ve found and I definitely recommend it.

by rarely do i review apps 45 on 2019/01/19 07:02
Great app, worth the upgrade for the features.

Left Jefit for this, and haven’t looked back.
by JaboAnthony on 2019/03/13 19:37
I’m a minimalist at heart. 10/10. Trust me, I scour Reddit and websites for the best, and this one wasn’t even mentioned except by one person. Well here’s another real user. Do it.
Has potential, But could use Improvements
by Skiddywompus on 2019/04/15 05:11
As an avid lifter this app has the simple structure I look for, yet is insanely cheap for the premium version.
Great App
by CullenMachado on 2018/07/09 07:01
Best workout logger out there, worth spending the 5$ for sure.
On the fence
by Glostrong on 2019/09/04 02:24
Very new to the app.
Great Workout App
by rarely do i review apps 45 on 2019/01/19 07:02
Great app, worth the upgrade for the features.
I’ve suggested it to my friends who lift and have an Apple Watch.

by Jack Isidore on 2018/07/23 15:16
Well worth the upgrade.
Perfect
by Cshriner on 2019/10/27 17:36
Clean, intuitive design and stable. I was looking for an app to log/track my strength training so I didn’t need paper and pencil in the gym. This app is the perfect solution. I like the added bonus of having exercises available in the app. Export and backup features are great. Definitely worth the money for the platinum version.
