I purchased this app and now it won’t work because the developer needs to update the software. Not cool! Do not purchase.
OK but not great
by Out of Nicknames11 on 2017/09/11 22:15
The major problem, in my experience, is I never got a reading over 99 db. I am mechanical engineer and I have experience in environmental engineering; when you are at 99 and the sound gets louder, you expect the reading to increase.

Seems to be well-designed and responsive, but the scale is WAY off. In a quiet room it's reading 80, and normal conversation bumps it to 120. It needs a calibrate function.
Great app

This app is very handy. I use this to measure how loud A particular area is to determine if it's required to wear your plugs or not so that I don't cause anymore damage to my ears; because they're bad enough already. I wish I had this when I was younger, much much younger.

I was excited to get a decibel meter on my phone. But quickly discovered that it isn't even close to being accurate. It typically reads much higher than the actual sound levels. Not reliable for an accurate read at all.

Worthless meter- always way too high
by Rogsav on 2016/02/03 12:12
I just had this and two other app decibel meters measuring noise at a construction site by my house. We had them side by side with two different state (FL) 'certified' meters. These two were within 2 dB of each other. This app on the other hand, was off (always way above) 22-50 dB at all sites we tested. With such an error this meter is completely useless. It is not useful at all. The meter is never below 55 and hits 80-90 range all the time. When it was 84 dB this meter was between 97-110. It is completely useless. You can not use it for anything at all. Do not even try - it is so off. Very disappointing.

by 33908 on 2015/10/15 21:42
Readings will fluctuate so if you want to know for example how "loud" a new air conditioner is you need to be satisfied with the needle bouncing between say 75 to 80 db and the ambient Amy be 55 db. This was all I needed.

Does't work as a db meter
by LaCajun on 2014/08/08 01:24
I downloaded this app while wasting time at an airport. I didn't expect much but I did expect it to work a little. Granted, I was in a noisy place and it did show noise. However, I found a relatively quiet spot and tried a little experiment. I took my Bose sound deadening headphones and cupped/sealed them over the mic of my iPhone5 while still looking at the meter. The reading was still 50-60db! Don't waste your time with this app, even when you have time to waste. Do something productive, like watching the planes take off and land.

by Jay159155 on 2014/05/13 05:43
Just downloaded this app for the hell of it, wanting to see how it worked and it stayed at 60 with no noise AT ALL. I was disappointed to say the least, especially because also, it only went up to exactly 110. All in all, it wasn't accurate and has no real use, I deleted it within less then 5 minutes, don't waste your time with this garbage!
Ok for checking changes
by Mr. Yuck-O on 2014/05/06 20:35
If all you want is to check consistent level for changes then ok. Otherwise it says 110db ( fire truck) talking into it.
Looks good but is totally worthless.

Looks good but is totally worthless. When sitting next to a calibrated meter this app reads between 15 to 20 dbs too high. Very inaccurate. Won't spend anything for the "pro" version.

by MrRadio915 on 2014/04/05 22:18
Side by side with calibrated db meter this reads constantly 10-15 db higher. If you need a reference, I suppose it's ok, but remember to subtract at least 10db from reading.

Great layout but too inaccurate
by DargoBruno on 2013/11/30 01:41
I like the layout of this ap, but I cannot use it as a reasonable alternative to a real meter because it is so far off on db readings. In quiet settings it is 80% off from actual db meter and only showed 103 db at concert where real meters registered 121 db.

This app is very handy. I use this to measure how loud A particular area is to determine if it's required to wear your plugs or not so that I don't cause anymore damage to my ears; because they're bad enough already. I wish I had this when I was younger, much much younger.

All in all, it wasn't accurate and has no real use, I deleted it within less then 5 minutes, don't waste your time with this garbage!
Ok for checking changes
by Mr. Yuck-O on 2014/05/06 20:35
