Easy to call a ride, but annoying ads
by Mynameisdano on 2019/12/12 07:28
This makes is easy to get around by motorbike or car. It would be hard to imagine life without this app. The notifications with ads are annoying. And ads in the app are annoying.
Nagging PIN prompts
by badabinger on 2019/12/11 15:50
Entering the pin in every time that the app loads, even if you’ve temporarily moved to another app while waiting for a ride is a chore and inconvenience. Please turn the dial down on the nagging PIN prompts.

Great service, one problem
by Dhdh28283 on 2019/12/11 07:06
Grab provides an almost identical ride hailing experience as Uber. The only complaint is that the pin drop for my pickup location is never where I am. Why is that?

Does not have enough insurance for collisions
by AndrewChen99 on 2019/12/10 15:17
Driver had an accident with another car. As a result, my phone fell from the seat and screen got beat up. Grab doesn’t have insurance to help support damaged items. Makes me wonder if they even have insurance for accidents at all.

Insufficient number of drivers
by EIC :) on 2019/12/07 08:43
Grab is mostly high price during rainy hours or pick times plus there is not sufficient number of drivers.Very opportunistic policy. They offer highest price in pick hours. Again max price because of insufficient drivers in any other time of the day/night. Poor service overall

by Rapperound on 2019/12/07 04:17
Of course the App is seamless, but I gotta say, this is the only App that I ever read the update summary!! Team leads, managers or any seniors at this company, please give the person who does the write up a generous raise!! Brilliant, articulate, amazingly humorous, and definitely has a way with words! Thank you for keeping me entertained, I’m a big fan!! Keep up the great update summary work!!
Terrible functionality of payment section, terrible support
by almzZty9102 on 2019/12/07 03:04
I have been unable to add a credit card to my Grab account. There are no issues with my card or the processing in the bank’s side (I spent hours on the phone to make sure). I have been trying for weeks to add a credit card but the app simple doesn’t function in adding a credit card. I have contacted Grab support and received short, extremely unhelpful solutions. They clearly spent zero time actually considering the issue and did not seem to care when their poor suggested solution did not work at all. I am incredibly frustrating with the app and with the support I have received. I have begun using other ehailing services because of this dysfunction of the Grab app and the terrible support I received. ZERO STARS
Need transport? Grab will make sure you never get a car
by KarmenOJ on 2019/12/07 02:21
In the Philippines, bless your soul if you try to get a car, *spoiler* it will never come because apparently there are no drivers. Curious that a ride providing app never has cars. I have been trying to use Grab for the past couple of days booking for hours, to no avail. I miss you Uber.

Simply Terrible
by Ugly Jon on 2019/12/06 10:40
If you’ve ever traveled outside SE Asia you know that Grab is simply terrible. In Malaysia, where I live, it has a monopoly over ridesharing. Their customer service is rude, inconsistent, and unprofessional. The ride app always over-promises on wait times. If it says your ride will arrive in 3-5 minutes, it will almost certainly take 15-20. If it says your trip will take 20 minutes, it will probably take 40. More than anything, I’ve had repeated problems with their customer service staff who are just plain unhelpful and rude. I would NEVER recommend Grab.
Excellent service
by MomofMahem on 2019/12/05 09:49
It’s easy to get a vehicle no matter where you are. I have had nothing but positive encounters so far. But if you plan on reserving a private driver, I suggest that you do it a day or two in advance.
Does not work
by Ressaw2011 on 2019/12/05 08:19
On the last ride the arrival time was wrong by 30 minutes. Driver didn’t tell me I had to walk 200 meters because the local taxi mafia at kusamba port doesn’t allow grab and gojek. I clicked pay cash. It reverted to charge my card. Then o paid cash to the driver and my card was charged. I will dispute charge on credit card. Very buggy app .

Poor algorithm
by pata2001 on 2019/12/04 11:58
Poor algorithm causes the bike service to be useless in peak hours. The algorithm picks drivers who are far away from the pickup point. Obviously they will decline the request. Thus the service is rendered useless in critical times when it’s actually needed.

App does not function well
by chiangy12 on 2019/12/02 03:25
For the amount of money that VCs have poured in, as well as the amount of data Grab has been able to collect over the past few years, the transport app still does not have a functioning ETA feature. Any ride you take will take a duration of approximately 20% more than their estimated.
Poor! Customer service is worde than Dengue
by KR7949 on 2019/12/02 02:09
to fitzyp5fresh Grab is not available in Seattle. Use Uber or Lyft instead. I used to live there. I preferred Lyft, maybe only because it gives miles credit to my Delta FF program. As to my review. I can no longer log in to my account after recent upgrades. Grab App forced me to create a new account which I cannot delete or even attempt to sitch to my old account. Grab has therefore STOLEN my Grab Pay $$$ and GrabRewards points. Customer support (ha! what a joke) refuses to reply to my complaints.
Bad input

I’m leaving for SEA in two days and I have been trying to add my CC so I may GRAB a ride from the airport when I arrive. (App is up to date and I have tried on multiple occasions) still no avail. Please fix this problem ASAP or I’ll be deleting the app. Will update stars when problem is fixed
Very disappointed
by Greeeeaat! on 2019/12/01 06:31
I had a different email address when I was using the app previously. I have not been in that area a long time so I deleted the app. I redownloaded since I am in the city again but I changed email address and Facebook account I use with my phone. Grab app has no way to start a new account when you download the app. It immediately tries to direct to the account linked with your phone number. I needed a car but a tried many times to sign in with a new account on the app and could find no way, and I could not use the old one because the email is deactivated. There should be a way to sign in as a new user on the app.
AMAZING FOR TRAVEL
by bradsreview on 2019/12/01 05:53
Grab App has been our oasis in Asia. We visited Singapore, Malaysia, and now are in Thailand. Singapore was very easy and comfortable to get around on public transport so we didn’t use Grab App there. But as soon as we hit the other two countries we desperately needed affordable transportation. Luckily some neighbors in Malaysia at our hotel told us about Grab and we’ve been using it since. Very affordable and keeps us from having to deal with local taxis who try and rip off or scam foreigners. The scheduling feature is also great. When we made a stop in Phuket, we were out by Phang Nga Bay which is a rural coastal village for site seeing. A local taxi tried to charge us twice what we paid to get there (we used Grab to get there from the airport). Unfortunately Grab drivers weren’t in the area but we scheduled it out and got one for a similar price to what we paid to get to Phang Nga from the airport. Now in Bangkok, public transport is very confusing, I can’t read the stops or signs or streets. Nothing is tourist friendly. Can’t figure out how to pay or how much to pay. Grab is an amazing alternative. I love this app!
Useless app

by Dr KLM on 2019/11/30 10:27
I'm really enjoying grab as I travel through Thailand. My only suggestion to Grab is to include the color of the vehicle picking up the passenger. That would be a tremendous help.
Garbage
by thedeeman010 on 2019/11/29 16:06
Grab is trash. They won’t tell you what your standing is. Their est. arrival times are always wrong. Drivers take too long to arrive late in most cases. Whatever it is, their service needs work. They don’t even give you an idea of how hard it’ll be to book a ride which is probably basic given the metadata they have. Honestly. Garbage service.

by Matt Lococo on 2019/11/28 05:40
•Multiple ride cancellations •Cubao Sm business center still cannot process top ups •Account suspended for a fare that was paid from Grabpay with receipt issued. Then immediately after an allegation the fare was as not paid. I called the driver and confirmed he was paid. On the last one Grab is holding 810php without justification. Complaint filed with LTFRB as overcharging for a fare.

by T in Philippines on 2019/11/27 08:58

Unable to use app
by Fuhfh1234 on 2019/11/25 10:50
Recently updated the app. After updating the app, I keep getting a message saying that the “the current app is not supported by our system” and I keep getting logged out. I have contacted customer service and they have advised me check internet connection, restart the app, and reinstall the app. As if I haven’t tried that already. They said they would provide a response within 24-48 hours but have not been any help at all. As a platinum member I am quite disappointed.
Unreliable and Untrustworthy Service
by Curt C H on 2019/11/25 09:33
I tried using Grab when traveling in the Philippines, and found it very hard to find drivers. In some cases, they will find a driver and after several minutes, the driver will cancel the pickup. The worst experience was we had a driver pick us up and at the drop off, would not leave until we paid him twice the Grab fare. When we reported it to Grab, they basically said that we’re out of luck and they won’t help us. I don’t know how anyone can find this service reliable or trustworthy enough to use regularly.

by pasviegas on 2019/11/22 00:52
I asked for a delivery and asked some items to be removed. The restaurant had done this before with no problems. Now because they forgot to do it grab is saying they cant refund. This is an absurd and would never happen with Deliveroo. End of the story, if you want to be treated well, choose Deliveroo, not Grab food.

Driver has arrived
by Stupal on 2019/11/19 07:33
Many times the drivers hit this button waaaaay before they have reached the pick up point. There is nothing the customer can do to avoid paying late fees even if the customer and NOT the driver are at the pick up point. This has happened many times to me and there is nothing I can do. Please help the customer out by putting a button that helps us (the customer) from being forced to pay a late fee. We should be able to refute whether the driver is at the pickup point or not. I use this service a lot and I really like the service provided, but there must be a way to help the customer more.

Higher prices getting worse and worse
by apps reviews 99 on 2019/11/10 09:54
It is becoming worse and worse. Now it charges you very high prices and forces to register in Grab pay. I tried. It requires Thai ID, so a foreigner has to pay much more. Just unbelievable! Google maps show approximate Grab price, but after “open the application” click, the Grab prices go up almost double in some cases. In many situations it’s cheaper to take a taxi than Grab. Grab should fix this problem with the lower prices showed in the Google maps and higher prices in the app it. It’s line advertising lower prices than the real charges

Watch out for scams
by Locked out too on 2019/11/07 01:15
In one of my first experiences riding a Grab car in the Philippines, the driver lied about my scheduled drop off being in the wrong direction and tried to convince me to overpay him by 1,500 in cash to take me where I wanted to go. In one of my last experiences with a Grab car in the Philippines, the driver dropped us a 20 minute walk from our destination. When we exited the car confused in the wrong place, we left behind a bag containing a precious family memory of a deceased family member. We realized the mistake immediately and tried contacting the driver repeatedly. He didn’t answer our calls or repeated calls from customer support for several days. By then we had to leave the country. When he was finally tracked down, customer support refused to send the bag despite my offers to pay for the inconvenience and international shipping and my explanations of the irreplaceable nature of the item. We were never refunded our extra expenses for calling a new car to take us to the correct destination. Use this service with caution if at all. If anything goes wrong, they will not have your back.

by imjqe on 2019/11/04 05:07
I turned off push notifications of “Offers from Grab” & “Partner Offers” a long time ago within the in-app settings, yet just yesterday (Sept. 7, 2019) at 8:26 PM you notified my device the following message: “Earn a Free Ride 3x Faster with the Citi Grab Credit Card! Click to Find Out How.” This is in CLEAR VIOLATION of Apple App Store Guidelines, specifically sections 4.5.3 and 4.5.4. Part of Section 4.5.3 states: “Do not use Apple Services to spam, phish, or SEND UNSOLICITED MESSAGES TO CUSTOMERS, including Game Center, Push Notifications, etc.” Section 4.5.4 states: “Push Notifications must not be required for the app to function, and should NOT BE USED FOR ADVERTISING, PROMOTIONS, OR DIRECT MARKETING PURPOSES or to send sensitive personal or confidential information. Abuse of these services may result in revocation of your privileges.” I can’t turn off push notifications for the Grab app altogether in the iOS Settings because I would still need to receive TRIP-RELATED notifications (such as messages from the driver & ETA of my ride) and ONLY THAT.
Very good app for taking share rides in Vietnam!
by Det622samurai on 2019/11/03 16:11
When in Vietnam, using the Grab App is the US version of Uber! Very simple to set up and use if you’re an Expat. No credit card needed and you can pay with Vietnamese Dong currency instead of using a credit card. If you use a credit card, it costs less per ride. A good service overall and as long as you know the address to where you’re going, you’re drier will get you there. Some drivers speak English, some don’t so make sure you know you’re address to where you’re going and they will get you there.

Improved food ordering
by BR1545 on 2019/10/16 03:43
When Grab first launched their upgraded app, combining food and car sharing services, it was painful. Now, much improvement, and finally a new feature that even exceeds expectation - the ability to order from more than one restaurant at a time. Finally, for the office, we no longer have to order, wait, order again, wait again before we can all eat together. Fantastic addition, thank you Grab!!!! Now, just waiting for the addition of Grab home services.... which will be a tremendous value add!!!
Their service is getting worse
by grabcarUser on 2019/10/15 10:42
Nowadays prices are increasing more and more at almost anytime! It’s so difficult to get the drivers! They don’t give promo codes any more as well! I never got any benefits from being a platinum user! I’m hating their services so much nowadays!!

The app is phenomenal when you want to place an order. After that it’s mayhem. Twice in the last two weeks I’ve had orders not being delivered but showing as delivered on the app. When you call to complain - they acknowledged it was an app issue, but apparently didn’t feel the need to inform you of it. You’re moneys gone from your account and you have no food to show for it. And they can’t do a redelivery of the order - you have to go through it all over again. And they follow that up by saying a 3-5 day refund, and I’m sitting here more than 7 days later with no refund in sight. Now they’re blaming my cc issuer and saying it could take 30 days!!!! Get your act together Grab!!!! Pay attention to what happens after an order is placed. P****d off Platinum user!!! Hello GOJEK and Deliveroo!!!
Asking for photo ID
by Ixysfly on 2019/10/12 08:38
Was a regular user of this device but now they insist on taking your photo. Email, phone is not enough!!! Was doing it but then app asked to nod head etc., and just quit out. Changed over to MULA. No facial recognition needed.

Please fix payment issue

Really Great App with a few shortcomings
by msdz919 on 2017/09/20 02:40
Love many features of the app: Just Grab is great, car options are very diverse, and love the ability to add multiple destinations for a trip. Grab also has a very easy messaging interface, and seemingly better GPS than Uber. Plus, the reward program is AWESOME. The one major objection is that you can't cancel a request once made and before a car is assigned. The only way to TRY to cancel a request is to shut down the app and even then I still sometimes get assigned a car after the app has been closed. You can only cancel once a car is assigned, which you get penalised for - this seems a bit unfair. Uber allows you to cancel mid-request which is helpful on both the passenger and driver side. Also, it would be great to see an ETA during the trip as Uber has. To know my ETA with Grab I have to track on my own by GPS.
Bugs with new updates
by roscomcmillan on 2018/06/12 08:31
I like this app so this is all to help improve. The recent payment update caused me to say thanks and walk away from my drivers car while he was expecting cash. My credit card was no longer being used for rides without any notice. He had to run me down and thought I was trying to not pay. I had to use cash for a day before I had time to go through the new pay system sign up. When I tap “Learn more about the Grab pay credits”, it takes me to a webpage that can’t be found, so I’m not sure if my card on file will be used again now or if it expects me to top up like a SIM card. Also the grab rewards new sign up process keeps freezing on the last step (entering date of birth). Minor suggestions from before update: * GPS is usually inaccurate by a short distance * Raising rates for drivers or being able to tip in-app should be added asap. * A standardized picture of the vehicle should appear by the driver picture. This will help everyone, but especially foreigners to spot a car when they don’t know the regional makes and models of vehicles. * Being able to give public compliments or favorite drivers to use again in the future. More incentives for good drivers.
More than likely to save you money in Thailand taxi fares
by AnthonyFromFL on 2018/04/30 08:00
First time to Thailand and stayed in the Bangkok area for 5 days. Unless you’re a local and/ or lucky, you probably won’t find better taxi fares in Thailand unless you use this app. I’ve gotten taxi fares cheaper than a lot of tuk tuks, using this app. Yes there’s ads but how do you think a free app remains free?? You may sometimes experience long wait times (15-20 min) because not only traffic at time of request, but it seems like the taxis available from the app are not as plentiful as say Uber in other big cities around the world- so you may see increased fare prices due to high demand. I still say 5 stars because this app has done what it has advertised and what it has been designed to do. Plus it saved me some money too.
Where did the driver info screen go?
by mb_oebanda on 2019/09/13 22:49
The app used to show a full screen image with a green background showing a photo of the driver, vehicle details, and star ratings when “We’ve found you a driver!” For my past two bookings, that doesn’t show up anymore and when I click on the driver information on the screen with all of the ride info nothing happens. The name is truncated and the photo is too small to see anyway. The driver screenshot is very important; my son is on the autism spectrum and when he takes a Grab by himself it’s an essential part of his safety routine to send the family not just the ride details by sharing the ride, but the screenshot of the driver. If this is a glitch, I’d like to report it. If it’s an update feature, removing that full screen image of the driver with the green background is a very bad idea. Please bring it back. Grab is a critical part of our lives, enabling someone like my son to travel safely but we need the driver information back. Thanks for listening, Grab.
Love the app
by Expl0d!ngsharp!es on 2018/02/02 05:51
I really love this app, it’s super user friendly and easy to understand. I love that it gives a lot of options for rides. The other feature that I really love is that it translates the text messages so I know what the other person is texting. I would have to say that alone is awesome. My only (2) complaints are that it crashes when it’s a busy night so it’s really hard to book one when it’s busy and the other complaint is that it’s not always accurate as to where the driver is. For example it will say the driver is there to pick you up but it shows their car 2 streets over (even thought they really are at your pick up point). Once those 2 problems are fixed I’d give it a 5 star.
Great app used in Thailand
by MadBetch on 2019/05/16 02:06
I’ve used this app on my first trip to Thailand in Bangkok and Chiang Mai on May 2019. It works well in both cities. It is the Asian Uber or Lyft app. You don’t need to attach your credit card info. You can pay cash baht as you go to the driver. It’s optional to attach your credit card for a small discount off fares. There are different options - JustGrab is a fixed rate. You can see how much the cost is before you book. Also, Grab Taxi will vary on price but will show you an estimate before you book. You will add an additional 20 baht for taxi on top of the meter price. Be warned that some drivers used fake pictures on their Grab profile, but all drivers were nice. I had no issues of scams, language barrier, etc.
Drivers are always lost and inept...
by joshjellel on 2018/05/02 04:41
I rely on ride-hailing apps when working in Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines. Time and again Grab has been a miserable experience when you don’t speak the driver’s language. Someone please tell me why the drivers never know where to pick me up and where I want to go!? Both of those pieces of information are crucial to booking a ride. Both of those pieces of information are entered with explicit detail and appear in both text and map form in their native language on their own device that they know how to work. And yet, every single ride I get a call with questions about where I am—somehow they can’t figure out without speaking to me how to navigate their car to that pin on the map. And then once I’m in the car we have to try to talk some more and point to places and maps and info on my phone that I know they can’t read. C’mon man! Knowing how to navigate is like 75% of your job. And Grab the company: this wayfinding should be seamless as a part of the driver’s software. How about some initial navigation aptitude testing and ongoing training?! And how about some education on what riders expect from an app-based service?! If I wanted to make a phone call and do a lot of talking, I’d call a traditional taxi service. Talking to the rider can not be your drivers’ first resort—they need to be more resourceful. Inexcusable. No stars!
Completely frustrating app and experience
by Flyonzewall on 2018/05/23 01:37
I live in SE Asia where Grab have acquired Uber. I used Uber regularly without a problem for years. So now I have to use Grab and the app is a near total fail. For example: - The app often can not find my pickup location and autolocates hundreds of metres away, sometimes across a busy highway. I have had to cross busy highways in the rain, not at all safe, just so the driver could find me. This is a huge complaint I hear from drivers as well. - The destination database is very limited. Type in a point, it doesn’t find it, and offers up suggestions that are not even close to where you want to go. Sure, you can pin a destination on a map, but what if you don’t know the city or language? - Unlike Uber, the route is not plotted on the app map, so you have no idea if you are taking the correct route. This could also be a safety concern if you doubt the driver’s integrity. - Many times your current location lags by a minute or more, so the app doesn’t even show you where you are. I could go on, but Grab is just totally frustrating. If I am somewhere where I can hail a taxi, I do that now rather than deal with the Grab app, even if I have to pay more. Both riders and drivers are frustrated...Grab needs to fix this if they want to grow their business or keep formerly satisfied Uber riders and drivers.
Getting worse as time goes by
by saywhatnow on 2017/09/28 05:16
I am exhausted from Grab these days. The indicated wait times are never correct due to GPS errors and poor estimates of driver travel time. The drivers always seem to have another passenger to drop off first and there is no way to indicate during booking that I don’t want to wait for that period of time. Cancelling a booking, even after waiting for much much longer than the original estimate results in me being penalised, yet drivers can cancel seemingly at random. The reason Grab used to be better than other taxi booking services was that you could count on a driver picking up and then showing up. Now that this is no longer true and the fact that both Comfort and Uber have improved their services in Singapore, Grab has zero advantages. As soon as they stop heavily subsidising rides through discounts I will stop using Grab. I’ve already stopped using it half the time. Get it together, Grab.
Terrible app
by C1243657 on 2019/04/21 16:48
Apart from the numerous issues with the map and interface (locations aren’t clear, you type in the name of a place exactly as it appears in google maps and they suggests 100 other places nowhere close, etc.), the biggest issue is that I cannot add my credit card to the app. Does it not accept Visa cards from the US or what? That is half of the appeal of using a ride hailing app. If I have to use cash I may as well just hail a cab on the side of the road - prices are similar, sometimes the cabs are cheaper. So they sent a developer response saying “For security reasons you can only add a card when you are in S.E. Asia.” What security reasons? Sounds like a lousy excuse. Second, I’ve been living in S.E. Asia for over three years! Maybe you mean “you can only use a card issued by a bank based in S.E. Asia”? Ridiculous. Hopefully some other companies can enter the market, it certainly wouldn’t be hard to do it better.
Back to back pick up and not showing drivers around when booking
by Loveaddict on 2018/03/10 05:06
Grab used to be much better than this. In the past, the booking given to the driver was not back to back and the waiting time was not horrendously long. Now most of the bookings will be back to back i.e. driving dropping another passenger nearby and then picking you up. I have encountered many times that the driver took longer than usual (wrong turn, etc.) and the waiting time from 7 minutes or or could be doubled. Also, now you don’t see if your trip request is rejected or accepted by drivers when booking. It’s much more annoying for me. The only point that Grab is doing much better than Uber (or attracting more passengers) in the SE Asia region is more and more promotions. In the end it won’t be sustainable and one (Uber) will have to go out. And when that day comes, we will have to bear with terrible customer service and price hike!
Too many cancellations
by Can't have the same nickname! on 2019/07/13 06:51
The app would be great, except there are far too many cancellations, especially with food orders. There are times when 6 or 7 drivers will accept my order and then cancel anywhere from 2-10 minutes later, which means waiting 15-40 minutes before someone actually starts to pick up the order... They then accept other passengers when they should be delivering my food, which turns what should be a 10 minute delivery, into a 30-40 minute delivery, and I end up with cold/smashed food... The same happens with rides, and on occasion the driver will say they aren’t coming and demand that I cancel so that they don’t have to. Grab needs to do a better job ensuring their drivers follow through and incorporate stricter penalties for cancelling. I have since started using Be/Viet-Go/Uber and don’t have any of those issues.
App is great! Service is somewhat unpredictable.
by mattgelgota on 2019/06/17 12:23
The app works very well and is easy to navigate. Early on a few drivers were blatantly picking up and dropping off other people en route so a 4–7min wait could become 40min with the driver detouring in the wrong direction. After 3-4 problem rides in my first week I was given a priority booking and have since had no issue apart from a cancelled booking once in a while that is immediately picked up by someone else. Traffic in Bangkok is ridiculous so jams are bound to happen. Most of the time there’s a 10-15 min wait rather than the 2-4 min you might be used to with Uber or Lyft in SF etc. but once you get used to factoring that in, Grab is pretty great.
Terrible booking app
by Nattieshea on 2018/07/31 00:54
So frustrating that you cannot change a destination once you are on a ride, that you cannot add a stop in after the booking is made. It is so inflexible I have went back to using Comfort taxi app as at least you have the ability to change plans. Grab also has had terrible customer service, have asked numerous times for support when have had issues with drivers and often get no response. Often their drivers accept rides and are so far away that it makes no sense to wait but you can’t cancel. There needs to be a reasonable amount of time to cancel in, if a driver is clear across town or has another passenger they shouldn’t be able to accept a ride unless it won’t delay a pick up. Grab really needs an overhaul or a some good competition - Uber may not have been perfect but at least they understood customer support and had a decent app.
Frustrating and Useless
by Bendobe on 2019/05/04 16:02
Hardly a replacement for Uber, which allowed anyone to register for it and use the same account all over the world. I’ve tried to get through the registration process on this app 20 times, through text, phone call, google account. Apparently, because I have a US cell phone number, Grab refuses to send any method of authentication to me to set up my account. Little help on web, or through any other channel. Downloading this app was a colossal waste of time. Seems ill advised that Grab would cut out an the entire business segment (of customers who have money to spend!) of tourism from their model by refusing to allow non residents in Manila not to use their services. For a business, this is short sighted. And, finally, if you are going to totally replace a service, then do it totally. Grab is no Uber, and unlike Uber, is completely useless to a global traveler.
Disappointing compared to Uber
by blink_81 on 2018/04/10 04:15
Unfortunately, we are now forced to use Grab instead of Uber in South East Asia. The app is is clunky and not very user-friendly. Just feels cheap compared to Uber. The frequent pop-ups are annoying. The constant reminders to top up grab credits don’t help to make this a smooth experience. “Punishing” your customers for canceling rides - making it harder to get a ride later - is simply rude. It is not the customer‘s fault if the app assigns cars that are very far away. The fact that drivers see the destination of the ride leads to many annoying cancelations. Or you don’t find rides in the first place. Uber was definitely a much better and customer-oriented experience compared to this. Due to the lack of competition I don’t see that things will change for the better soon. Disappointed.
Change of price
by E.Q.2001 on 2018/06/29 04:19
Im just concern about your system if your fare is fixed or not. Just now I experienced something very off when I used my Php 100 off rewards, the fare was 207 when I used the reward so it was then lessen to 107. As I was waiting for a driver to accept my booking, which took a while, the app hanged. So i refresh and logged back in, unfortunately the booking got cancelled and the fare increased to 241. Is this a joke or what?! Anyways this is my first time to purchase a reward and I hope this doesn’t happen again and I’m sure other users might have experience what I’ve gone through. P.S. Thank you for your service and I’m just really concern and no hard feelings here

Having tried similar services when I travelled ...which did not work out well for me ..I was not sure about this one... however I had The most amazing experience using the Grab app and the Grab taxi service. The sign up process was hassle free and seamless. I really appreciated not having to put all my credit card information up front. The drivers were always courteous and identification was easy and they were always no more than a few minutes away. I felt safe far away from home and would definitely recommend this service. Wish it could work in the Western Hemisphere.
Philippines
by akoaypinoysaisipsalitaatsagawa on 2019/06/11 00:11
First time in a long while visiting the Philippines. Grab is so convenient. I mainly used grab car and it works fantastic. I used grab food atleast three times during my 2 week stay and it was phenomenal. Grab’s capability is only limited to the internet access of the country. There are some problems with navigation, but this is no the app’s fault. Sometimes navigation apps are down (due to internet service problems) but the drivers are very knowledgeable and can manually maneuver the streets. Overall, this is a must get app specially when you travel to asia. Very convenient and makes your vacation hassle-free.
Mostly good but in traffic jam they make you to cancel order
by Eunhaejune on 2018/10/12 04:52
I’m using grab in Bangkok. Most of the time they are kind and quick and the price is beyond reasonable (I think). But twice my friend and I’ve experienced drivers saying that they got caught by the police and requesting to cancel the order from my end. I’m suspecting they’re asking so because they don’t want to get bad review/ratings by canceling from their end. And I realized that if I cancel that record is accumulating and somehow effect my reliability as a customer. So I told the last drive to cancel from his side and he did. My thought is, if they actually got caught by the police, they drive dangerously. If they didn’t get caught by the police then they lied. Either way I’m not so sympathetic.
Foreigner
by azjb on 2018/05/13 17:55
Great app with a bonus feature that translates the text automatically that makes it easy to communicate with the driver. Had a few problems with the pin drop of my location, but other than that, worked great; plenty of drivers and never waited more than 4-5 minutes for a ride! As a foreigner, it would be helpful if on the driver profile was a picture of the car and/or at a minimum the color; not being familiar with the car models made the guess work a little more challenging. That said, the location services were so impressive you could watch the driver pull right up to you.
Battery Sucker
by melisss21 on 2019/02/03 08:28
Using this app is Bangkok is very useful to avoid overpaying for longer trips. The main issue I have is that it drains the phone battery like crazy. I have a new phone with, what I consider to be a good battery, and on a single trip (that took about 40 minutes from booking to drop off) I lost about 20% battery. I was also quite concerned with how hot my phone got during the use of this app. Despite these issues I still was happy to have this option available. I think a great feature is the ability to send a photo to the driver to specifically identify your pick up location. Make sure you bring an extra battery pack with you if you are using this app multiple times in a day!!
One sided app
by Cancel functiom stinks on 2017/11/08 15:57
Generally works pretty well but big criticisms: 1. Once you request a ride, you cannot cancel while the search function runs without getting on their sinner’s list. And the search function is often really long: 2-3 minutes while it searches and searches. 2. The indicative time is often way off. It will show a bunch of cars 3-4 min away, and then some driver 15 min away accepts. And then you can’t cancel without getting on the sinner’s list. See #1 above. 3. They let drivers who are still dropping off a passenger accept your request. So it takes 15 min for them to show up, not the 4 min indicated on the request page. 4. The Grab drivers can cancel without penalty. I was just at Changi airport and had two drivers accept and cancel. Just like that.
Tiny Vios need a different category
by Hawkhead978 on 2019/05/21 02:20
All works great except difficult to find driver who will go the entire half km out of the way to pick me up at home. The biggest issue is when two of us are going to the airport with four large suitcases and I select “Car” and a tiny little Vios or similar shows up. With how long it took for him to get to me, we are stuck cramming in the car with luggage on our laps. They should not be listed under the category of car, and I definitely should not be paying the same price for it! I would gladly get a larger vehicle but I don’t think they really exist. At least I’ve never been able to get one before. Please change this feature and I will give you five stars.

Fare details ?
by Lam from california on 2018/04/01 00:31
My biggest complaint. Where is the fare details. As drivers get to adjust the final fare to account for toll (which should have been added in automatically) - a rider needs to be able to verify that the final figure is accurate (ie toll plus fare). Instead one gets a total figure on the ride history and you won’t even be able to check if you have been scammed. What’s stopping the driver to include an unverified amount for toll and you don’t discover or verify it ???? Also on iOS - did you know you have to keep your app running while the driver is coming to you. As soon as I got a match I close the app by using the lock button (right side button). I later realized after waiting and rechecking the app -the ride was cancelled. What gives ?
A No-brainer
by NBA fantasy star on 2017/09/24 06:23
For someone who likes driving, I've been using grab fairly often, especially when I know I will have a hard time parking. It's a no-brainer. Now, I use it to deliver items, instead of having to drop it off. What annoys me and what prevents me from giving it 5 stars is it sometimes seems to "forget" where I am coming from (e.g office) even though it automatically suggest my from home to work. But the app has difficulty finding my work location when going home. I have to type the full name of the building and even then it will show other options. But other than that, I love this app more than Uber.
Absolute lifesaver in Southeast Asia
by rivimont on 2019/06/24 09:25
Probably the most important app when I’m traveling in Southeast Asia! Very fast and responsive. I didn’t rate it five stars as I think there are a few areas for improvement: -can’t find a way to set my business profile as a default -some countries don’t always accept payment. I think they could do a better job providing a reason why when you’re in a country for the first time. I think it was Vietnam or Indonesia but my visa credit card wasn’t accepted and I had to pay drivers in cash. Would have been great to know what payments were accepted.
Missed UBER
by Ted Blue on 2018/09/16 03:36
Despite what people have been saying about UBER bad services, I really missed it. I won't be saying the same for GRAB and it services. During the year I was using Grab, the service never improved with Ride Callancelled when price surge, Customer picking and worst of all, terrible application filled with ads, and prompt to you to use the service Grab also has, and it can't even be turned off too. A lot of time, using Grab felt like playing Slot Machine, hoping the ride that was booked won't be canceled. We really should get UBER back here, but SoftBank had Grab merged Uber in the past year which completely kills that idea, and now we are stuck with this terrible service. I have since stopped using Rider service then, and really looking forward to using UBER again when I'm back in the US.
Many bad experiences in a 2 weeks of use

Sometimes it is good. Sometimes it is really bad. Prices can triple sometimes due to high demand. Not only that but many times it simply doesn’t go through with the booking and I ended up stranded for 40 min trying to rebook over and over before I gave up and looked elsewhere. However the worse experience are drivers who accept the booking and still have to deliver their current ride first. It is normal to get stuck with a driver for 20-30 min before he comes ( if you were lucky for him to show up). One driver I was riding with had auto accept on his phone and he accepted 2 requests while I was 15 min away from my destination !!! Imagine how long the poor guys had to wait. Another driver refused to come to mall entrance after 20 min waiting for him and decided to drive to my destination (5 min away) and I got the trip completion notice on the app. Feel free to use it but not for time sensitive rides as waiting time can reach 30-45 min and can be cancelled after that. Remember to check alternate apps that do the same you may save money ( half the price sometimes)
Extremely terrible, DO NOT RECOMMEND
by ceesayy on 2019/02/11 06:14
We heard about grab prior to our visit here in Thailand, little did we know it is illegal at most tourists locations so they actually will tell you to walk out of where you asked to get picked up. Most times you are walking out of sketchy alley ways so make sure you aren’t alone if for some reason you still decide to get “grab”. Secondly, a lot of their “promo codes” hardly ever work. They have really fine prints of it being used in certain areas which you’re probably not ever going to. Along with that, majority of the codes you enter will tell you it’s been fully redeemed or it’s incorrect. Moral of the story, it’s probably the worst you will get if you’re traveling out here & I understand now why it’s illegal. Save yourself the hassle and don’t download this sorrow app.
Horrible service
by Duraid7 on 2018/12/04 09:07
This app is terrible. No, it is horrible. Wherever I am when I order a ride, the app keep searching and searching, then after 5 min it would say(Sorry. All our drivers are busy) I keep try I again and again until I finally get one. And then after waiting like 10 min for the driver to arrive, I get a message that the driver has canceled. This didn’t happen once or twice. It was happening almost every time I ordered taxi. In fact, I estimate 60% chances that the driver will cancel your booking. And 30% chance that the app will find you a driver first time you search. This is nothing like uber. I never saw such a horrible service before. I wish that the taxi drivers in Bangkok were more honest with foreigners, then I wouldn’t need to use this horrible service.
Don’t Get Your Hopes Up
by benryyip on 2018/08/30 06:55
Uber in Thailand used to be great, but the Grab’s parent company bought them out. Since then, anyone wanting to use an app to call a car in Thailand better be ready for a miserable experience. Grab frequently fails to find a driver, and when it does, the wait time is often twice as long as the estimate given on the booking screen. And nearly half the time I’ve had a booking accepted, the car just drives around and doesn’t reply to text messages or calls, forcing me to cancel and try again. If you have no other means of transportation, then use Grab, but keep your expectations low. If you’re willing to do some research beforehand, then look up how to use other forms of public transportation; you’ll likely be less frustrated while in Thailand.
It fails you far too often and waste your time
by GrabYourDad on 2019/07/20 10:06
I cannot remember how many times I’ve been failed by Grab (and GrabFood). The new GrabShare feature asks you to wait for 5min and promised to find you a driver. I’ve wait for 10min and was told no driver available. When I use the other type of service a driver is found immediately. So why promise what you won’t do in this new feature? The GrabFood has always been a disaster. The app often tells me the restaurant can’t deliver to you when I’m ready to pay, while I chose it from the “delivering to you” category. Why waste my time ordering if you don’t deliver in the first place? No need to say the insanely long refresh time whenever I change another restaurant......
First option for getting around Da Nang
by Mig-E on 2018/08/21 11:09
Started using taxis here, but quickly switched to grab. The app is highly reliable even with spotty cell service. Have never had to wait for more than 10 minutes in the three weeks I’ve been here, any time of day. All drivers have been friendly and helpful and their cars impeccable, to a single exception for a new driver that had just started the day I rode with him. Not giving up completely on taxis as they still can get the job done, but for my money grab is the way to go here.
Expect better from an international company
by da'bone305 on 2018/11/28 03:26
I use Grab in Cambodia primarily because I can pay with my credit card. I like the feature of earning points towards discounts on rides. I’m rating Grab three stars because they need to improve is their map accuracy. I cannot select my house for pick up because the pin will automatically redirect to a house about 50 meters away. In this respect, PassApp is much more reliable, even though both apps are allegedly using google maps for navigation. Also, Grab seems to have less availability in Phnom Penh vs. PassApp. Also, I recently had a driver start our ride before picking us up, and because I was paying with my card I was charged for the full trip once I realized what was happening. Thankfully, customer support did refund me for that particular ride. Overall, I expect more from a company based in Singapore and serving multiple countries. The map should be an easy fix but it obviously can have a big negative impact on the whole service when it isn’t reliable.
Good option in Thailand
by Annie018462847363737485827 on 2017/11/30 02:33
I was using Uber for awhile in Bangkok but then we got to Phuket and Uber was not used there so I downloaded Grab and really enjoyed using it. Love the flat price and the rewards program, as well as the messaging option. Biggest annoyance is that drivers can actually accept your request WHILE they are still dropping someone off. This meant that I was waiting 10+ minutes for a driver who ended up cancelling on me. Like seriously?!?! I needed to get to the airport. This is a serious flaw with the app and should be corrected immediately as it is a major inconvenience to passengers.
Mostly good
by luvleggs on 2018/11/25 14:55
90% of my bookings have been excellent considering. I like that I can just use cash and the convenience of using it is a few baht more than a tuk tuk. The one issue I had was a driver just stopped on his way to pick us up, then changed location of pickup, then moved it again, then sent a message saying I had cancelled which made no sense considering he was still in route. Told him that and he then cancelled, my issue was once he cancelled there was no way to report him ditching us or giving any feedback on the driver. Poor app planning me thinks
Avoid if possible
by js31415 on 2018/10/04 08:31
After buying out Uber in violation of antitrust laws in numerous countries including the one in which I reside grab became my only option. The app with no option to set a language bombards me with modal advertisements in which I have no interest and in a language I can’t understand . Compared to Uber the service is far worse and The prices are higher. I encounter far more frequent in ability to acquire a car and cancellations without justification. Worse, with Uber if I had a bad experience I automatically got a refund with Grab nothing because again the support Is not available in English. unfortunately it’s still beats a taxi but if they haven’t violated antitrust laws where you are, if you can possibly avoid using this app, do.
Uber was better but Grab will do for now
by LK255 on 2018/06/29 05:17
Since Uber left Vietnam, Grab’s prices have gradually increased and more and more there are “higher fares due to demand” even during odd times of the day. Drivers are not as well trained - they have difficulty reading the maps and notoriously cancel. Most annoyingly is that their location map is often inaccurate - again, all worse than Uber. However, they are cheaper than taxis most of the time and for the most part, reliable. I’ve found that complaints are resolved in 1-2 days. It will be interesting to see how they get on when another competitor comes along.
Bad maps, no compromise
by Merenor on 2018/04/11 07:52
I've ended up stranded because this app auto selected something "nearby" where I was trying to go. An hour walk away. In the same way getting picked up is hard when the app auto selects locations that are easy for a driver to get to, but you have to walk an hour to get there. What's the point of the car? They're in a car already. Also, destination names do not show up when you search, so you have to select manually from the map after comparing with your other google map app to make sure you have the right spot on the map. then again, Grab selects something "easy for the driver." Unless you are going between one or 2 major places, this app is absolutely useless.
Making traveling in a foreign country easy!
by Aye Yawn Knee on 2018/04/16 14:34
So far, very helpful in a foreign country!! I am from the US, and am used to other taxi-type apps. But the fact that you can call any type of cab is very helpful here! Sometimes with other apps I can’t find a ride depending on time and place. But traveling in a different country with a disabled grandmother, Grab has made it basically effortless getting around for reasonable prices. I also like the different payment options if I want
Horrible service
by B0731 on 2018/11/12 00:35
I don’t want to sound like just one more ranting cranky person on the Internet, and I really want to like grab because I know so many people find it useful. However, I can never seem to get a driver no matter where I am, and when I do finally book a driver it’s takes longer then estimated and half the time they cancel. Grab uses the platform that they are better and safer than Uber, but the honest truth is they are no better. I have never been so unhappy with a service. I would delete the app from my phone except I’ve got credit left, which customer service would not refund me. If you have another option for transportation, save yourself the trouble and stay away from Grab.
Turned off push notifications for all of your promotions... still notifies me of them.
by imjqe on 2019/11/04 05:07
I turned off push notifications of “Offers from Grab” & “Partner Offers” a long time ago within the in-app settings, yet just yesterday (Sept.
