Liberal propaganda site

Don’t bother unless you have nothing but socialist or communist viewpoints
Could be better
by Dannybot88 on 2021/01/23 21:45
I’ve been an Imgur user for over 5 years and have used it on web, Android, and iOS. The iOS version is probably the worst experience amongst all the platforms. Some features that would make this better: The ability to see the title of a long post when you scroll up slightly. Ability to post pictures in comments Ability to switch between apps, and stay on the same post I was viewing.
So many ads, for the love of god
by Steve ak907 on 2021/01/22 23:14
I was asked to rate this app as a “sponsored” ad came up, dominating the entire screen. Other than that it’s a great way to waste time and get the occasional laugh.
Too political
by seidenla on 2021/01/22 12:45
The app used to be great for funny posts but now it’s all political posts and who knows who is making these posts. It feels like propaganda and is just not funny anymore.
Fine app, but I can’t handle the battery drain
by Over the Lecturing on 2021/01/22 10:06
The app is nice, easy to browse and navigate comments. But it drains my battery so fast, and causes my phone to run extremely hot. I deleted it in the end, it’s not worth the battery strain.
New update - even worse.
by Katsumiblisk on 2021/01/22 04:06
I wish you guys would test the app before you inflict it on us. After having endured the slowdowns and memory leaks for the last who knows how many months, now - as of 1/21/2021 the slowdowns have gone away but the first twenty or so images just keep repeating over and over. Back to the web.
No way to turn comments off
by hlvcaine on 2021/01/21 20:36
You get mobbed by an echo chamber of idiots the second you post anything. I’m not looking for opinions. I just wanted somewhere to post photos for an RSS feed. And there’s no option to turn it off, how dumb.
So many giraffes

10/10 memes and good community
What happened?!
by Wantdememojis on 2021/01/21 02:37
Anytime I click on a post from the front page and swipe back to keep scrolling the front page, all the the thumbnailed posts rearrange and I lose my place. Is this a glitch? It makes no sense if this is intentional. Also for the love of god, let comments be longer. Replying to your own comment to finish a thought is annoying and outdated, not sure why this wouldn’t be addressed.
Sad
by ?,lkpoikl.,mjuyh on 2021/01/20 22:47
This used to be a fun place to go. Now it is just people that claim to be woke and accepting but hate people that don’t agree with them. Too bad.

Doesn’t keep your place
by GOODBYE SNAP CHAT on 2021/01/19 11:02
It constantly goes off of the post your on. The app is unusable now. I hardly ever use it anymore because of this. It also has malicious ads and my phone gets hit every time I use the app. Deleting it from my phone and tablet!
Political garbage
by nobleclem on 2021/01/19 04:02
The community has devolved into a political garbage pit. It used to be about the funny memes and now is just a leftist cult of politics.
Sad liberal getaway
by suckit69analpie on 2021/01/18 23:42
If you want a place to complain about Trump and Republicans then you have found your safe place. This site used to be fun now it's lame and full of liberals looking to vent about their sad lives and share fake wokeness
The app is ok, but it definitely needs a political filter.
by UnclePusher on 2021/01/16 04:36
My biggest complaint about the app is that it looses where you are if you have to change screens for any reason. I will say that It needs an easy way to filter political posts, I enjoy them sometimes, but most of the time I just want to laugh. The community is nice, but that changes with the political posts as well.

Finally left Imgur after 10 years.
by Awyissss on 2021/01/14 02:30
this little website that developed into an app used to bring a smile to my face on the roughest of days. There was such a great community, now it is very very left based. It’s a left wing circle jerk. If you believe in anything else you’re slammed with hate.
Battery Vampire. Solid Otherwise
by Squid500 on 2021/01/13 18:01
The app works, full access to what’s on the desktop website. Thats the good part. The reason I’m giving 3 stars though is because the app drinks up battery power like it’s just found water after being stranded in the Sahara for a week.
Latest build drains battery on XS (Jan 21)
by mbclimber on 2021/01/13 03:41
I'm not sure what changes were made in the last couple of builds but the imgur app has become unusable on both my iPhone XS and my wife's 12 mini. My phone gets extremely hot after about 10 minutes of use and the battery goea down about 10-12% in that time. It about the same story on my wife's phone. Please fix this! Thanks
Fix this issue already!!!
by flyingdodo47 on 2021/01/12 20:27
Under normal circumstances I’d give Imgur 4/5 stars, but the months long ongoing glitch that resets the app every time you do something else on your phone is beyond frustrating and basically renders the app useless if you want to multitask on your phone. Will return better rating once this persistent issue is fixed!
Toxic
by Mick_Zero on 2021/01/12 05:53
I remember when Imgur used to be good. Imgur long ago used to be funny and entertaining. Now it is mainly full of hateful/misleading content and comments. Save yourself time and look elsewhere. This place is no better than Twitter or Facebook.

Fix the app
by Pasadoble on 2021/01/10 16:38
Use to love browsing, but over the last few months the app has become trash. As others have said if you move to other app and come back the app restarts. Browsing for a few minutes and god forbid watch Gif phone gets as hot as lava and scrolling becomes erratic and unusable.
Extremely political
by Drew Felter on 2021/01/10 15:56
Imgur has become a political post app (liberal). Even as a liberal myself, it is exhausting instead of refreshing and fun. I hate to say it but if you’re looking for entertainment... Imgur is not your guy.
Newest update possibly?
by mel_ob-12 on 2021/01/10 04:16
I find it very frustrating that whenever I leave the app, to multitask, when I come back, it acts as if I am just opening the app for the first time. I lose my spot every single time. Please fix this!
Bullying at it’s best
by Shelby_mom2010 on 2021/01/10 02:56
I joined this app years ago to share memes and pictures. Now it has devolved into yet another platform to bully users with differing political standpoints. If you post something against the accepted norm, you are called “trash” and “Neo-Nazi” at the kindest. Any threats of violence and harm that are reported are simply ignored. Don’t waste your time with this app.
Battery melter
by IthurielsSpear on 2021/01/09 16:05
Content and user interface are great, but this app will absolutely devour a phone charge. When it comes to energy consumption, Imgur app is positively ravenous, taking as much as 70% over the course of 10-15 minutes. In my experience, the only other app that places such a premium on battery-life is The Witness, a game whose substantial graphics processor demands are well known. I’d love for you someone to explain to me how, HOW Imgur’s needs are even remotely comparable.

Steadily deteriorating
by markmagoo on 2021/01/08 15:18
I used to browse the app for laughably unhealthy amounts of time and mainly because it was seamless. But for months things have steadily deteriorated putting me on the edge of deleting and leaving the community. Aside from the widely reported refresh bug: leaving the app for a moment and returning refreshes the app and resets your viewing. Say you want to double check something you’re writing in a comment, you jump into a browser to research, then switch back to the app, you’re no longer in the middle of writing a comment, you are now at the top of the home page again. OR enjoying a dump, switching to a text, and returning to find your spot and the post are gone. Other apps can remember where I was yesterday before I switched out of the app and never returned. Aside from this, the app overworks the phone’s processors. In less than a half hour on the app, my phone heats up, and simple gestures and taps slow down and my iPhone XR freezes. Once I can, closing the app quickly solves all problems with my phone. The administration running the community and supporting this app have surely focused on anything other than providing the enjoyable experience I have known for years. Sorely disappointed in their actions towards one of their most popular users, their overzealous moderators, their apparent disinterest and ignorance of their community’s feedback, not to mention no desire to improve the long standing problems. One long standing problem: searching the app is an abysmal experience. It’s impossible to find a specific post from earlier in the week (or day sometimes) unless you literally added it to your favorites. But searching the same terms in a search engine adding “Imgur” does not take long to locate your goal. I hope there’s a change within this organization. The community can be and often is a wonderful escape. Like any online forum, things can get ugly and negative, but (on basically anything other than politics) positivity, inclusion, and unconditional support are a norm that are the reasons I’ve stuck around so long. Please fix the platform.
Infuriating inability to pick up where I left off
by JCTWeb on 2021/01/07 22:40
It’s an image app. You scroll through images. But if you happen to switch to a different app and interact with it, then go back to this one, you literally start over again as if you just opened it. Then you have to find where you left off. Absolutely horrible user experience.
1/7/2020 ..this is why Reddit is EDITORS CHOICE!
by zmcqueary on 2021/01/07 21:57
Yup..it’s official, whoever at imgur runs the show on this app must be gone bc this is intolerable. I’m out, you chumps! —- I wrote a scathing review about Imgur‘s latest updates and how it seems to refresh every time you change view AND the monstrous amount of ads. Now my review reset, but no matter..here’s your one star imgur..again! And me making sure it’s there should speak volumes how bad your app has gotten. Down-voted
IMGUR
by I7M23OZy on 2021/01/07 20:37
I have found the IMGUR app to be relaxing to browse through due to the variety of posts available which include pets, art, and memes.
Used to be good
by Bomber7 on 2021/01/07 17:25
Waiting for the next hot app. This one has turned so political and over the top. This community is one of the most toxic communities out there. Where did all the memes and funny pics go? They don’t exist anymore.
An app for political echo chambers
by Zstatisticort on 2021/01/07 07:42
I’ve been using Imgur for around 6 years. It used to be a place to share memes, community creations, inside jokes, but now the front page is completely filled with angry political rants reposted from Twitter. I’m not even exaggerating—the front page is consistently 100% politically charged images. There used to be other places for that, but I guess Imgur is now just another one of many venomous echo chambers floating around on the internet.
It’s an American political app.
by imgur is a joke on 2021/01/07 07:05
It’s an app that is almost 100% made up of people complaining about the American politics

by Itsking23 on 2021/01/06 15:31

Security Risk!!!
by Overmanned on 2021/01/06 10:35
Scam. You need to hand them your cell number to activate an account. For that reason, I won’t be using your software, Imgur. DELETED. If I could give you a -5, I would have.
UI is clunky, hemorrhages battery life, but functional
by suzhoukunshan95117 on 2021/01/05 21:04
Interface isn’t as good as desktop, but is better than mobile site. Battery draw is incredible. My phone normally lasts me 2 days, but will be drained in a few hours if I’m not plugged in. Ads are pretty annoying, as there’s always a chance they’ll automatically redirect you without user input, but I’m not willing to pay membership for an app that feels so unfinished.
Notifications broken
by Lololololololol J on 2021/01/05 05:02
I give one star to any app that sends me notifications without my permission. I have all notifications turned off and yet you continue to send me notifications. I know this is intentional and not just an oversight because I know how companies like this operate.
Frustratingly bad
by dbsusixxnnssbahvaag on 2021/01/04 14:45
I used to love Imgur, and it was probably my most used app on my phone. But there was an update a while back and now the app closes every time you leave it so that when you go back you lose your place. It’s annoying enough that I came here to change my rating and write a review, and I will most likely just delete the app.
App crashes 90% of the time
by ArmandoGomez4 on 2021/01/04 00:08
When you switch to another app and return, you’re not back to where you left off, you’re placed on the front page again. This is terrible and should have been fixed a long time ago. Was this intentional? I’m seeking alternative apps.

by Tenor83 on 2021/01/01 06:24

by Julian Gude on 2020/12/30 20:47

Please rewrite this IOS app from scratch
by Sergio1932 on 2020/12/25 01:32

Poor moderation
by yoyomaqwertyface on 2020/12/22 22:08
Each political post has comments brazenly calling for violence that is glorified among politicians or others the user base does not like. Decent content, but a cesspool of awful users.
One star for requiring app download to upload images
by BikeSquid1992 on 2020/12/21 19:43
Everyone knows the only good thing about imgur is for image hosting. Requiring the mobile app to upload an image? Ok I'll give you one star for the effort. You could have easily allowed this on the mobile site.
Horrible App
by Taylorg360 on 2020/12/20 07:09
Absolutely horrible app. Anything I tried to load in it would fail. It could not find the specific posts I’d search for. It could not do anything more than the basics and those did not even work well. Would not recommend at all. Their mobile site worked far better for me then the app, do not waste your time.
Went downhill fast
by jackson12345678 on 2020/12/19 16:02
It used to have funny content and users who were engaging. Now, it’s pure leftist drivel of the worst sort. It’s all self righteous know-it-alls and anger now. Does anyone know an alternative site for humor minus the hate?
Massive battery drain and doesn’t stay on the same page
by Necros Dante on 2020/12/19 12:25
Just as the title says. The battery use for this app shoots up to 60% while in use. That’s nuts. Also if you switch between apps it kicks you out of what ever post you were last on and goes back to the feed. I love Imgur but this is ridiculous. Fix your app devs

Drains battery and just reloads, losing current position, whenever you multitask and open another app and then go back.
Stay away from the app if you are anything but a liberal
by jinzhaos on 2020/12/15 16:33
The app is extremely biased towards anyone that is not a liberal and often violently so. The app is nothing but political posts anymore. You will get banned if you are downvoted, whether or not you said anything offensive. And you’ll be waiting for servers to load and constant ads.

Too Political
by Jeff1235632 on 2020/12/13 16:33
Imgur used to have very wholesome and inspiring stories that would cheer up ones day. Now it headlines constant political posts written by edgy teenagers that promote violence and bullying on literally anybody who doesn’t fit whatever twisted leftist version they perverted on here. Because whatever this is on this app is not true leftist. I have seen posts promoting violence on not just police officers but their FAMILIES too and even posts that idolize convicted pedophiles as heroes. If you try to have any form of a debate with someone you will get downvoted by the rest and eventually banned from commenting or posting. I don’t know who they have monitoring these posts but it is atrocious that they allow such hate to be headlined on an app that they themselves advertise as being a place where everyone can come together. If they want the app to get better to what it once was they need to filter the system so that everyday normal users can find what they want without having to sort through hateful posts that were written by toxic people.

Worsening over time
by leecoursey on 2020/12/11 13:27
This app has been a goto for me for years, and I actually have no issue with the UI. The problem is that the app began either shutting down during app switch or phone lock, and it seems to lose your “spot” after only a minute away now. If you switch apps, such as responding to a text, you can come back and be right back at the top of the feed again, completely losing your spot in the feed.

by Carlson462 on 2020/12/11 10:44
If I want to look at a reddit link hosted on imgur and you first make me pick to download a stupid app or continue on the mobile site, that is not a good way to make me want your app. It’s just ruining my reddit experience rather than making me want to check out this mediocre app. Imgur just exists for uploading images for viewing on reddit, therefor this app is redundant when Reddit apps exist.

Need to fix the constant reload problem
by SuperTim414 on 2020/12/09 18:59
Every time you leave the app to do something else or even close your phone and pick it up again, the app reloads from the top. It either refreshes or completely restarts and you lose where you left off and have to scroll through countless posts you already saw to get back to where you were. Horrible design. Is it intentional so they can gain more add revenue? Seems like it. Definitely needs to be fixed. So frustrating.

This app makes my phone get really hot and drains the battery at a remarkable rate. I’m using version 2020.13.1(1856.0843, 1b0895b) of the app on an 11 pro. But it’s been an issue for multiple versions.
Great hand warming app
by Salmon Gram on 2020/12/05 15:51
This app is good for about 5 minutes or so. After that, it causes my phone (both my old XS Max and current 12 Pro Max) to become incredibly (and worryingly) hot to the touch, even through the Otterbox case I have on it. I’ve tried to use the feedback reporting function, but all I get are errors saying I don’t have an email setup, which doesn’t make sense since I’m logged in with my email, and have 3 different email programs installed. Outside of that, the app is ok if you like seeing the same memes 100 times and blatant attention seeking posts.
A shell of what it used to be.
by Burlyjl on 2020/12/05 06:53
Bots posting and voting on crap, Imgur management chasing away good content creators, trolls, ads that try to scam you, half just Tik Tok reposts, community is leaving by the thousands. Just find something else.
Re: To Imgur

I love Imgur, it has a lot of interesting subjects. My only suggestion is that it would be nice if Imgur users could write a few more lines.
Not what it used to be
by Jbrown757 on 2020/09/17 02:23
Imgur, after being a member for 4 years I deleted my account and your app from my devices. I used your product to catch a laugh and see some cool stuff. Now, I sort through political bogus constantly and your app is nothing like what it was. I am afraid to say, your community has become a political breeding ground for bias news and unchecked facts. (And I don’t even support Trump but some of that stuff on there is just putting noise in people’s heads. It’s close to the election so I understand it’s a front page topic, but the negativity toward Trump with not one opposing view or slight toward the other side is shameful.) I will return should your rules change to sort out political nonsense. Until then, I wish you the best in your communities future.
Memes, Politics, Vitriol
by ketchcrap on 2020/11/29 02:21
Let’s just start off by saying it’s no longer what it used to be. I joined imgur in 2014 after a year or so of lurking. Imgur was in its prime, constant newly shared content, memes, etc. The point based system was addicting and trying to share new and funny things to connect with the community was exciting. Eventually though, it strayed away from being an exciting, open and accepting community to one of a single purpose, “you’re either with us or against us, you either agree with us, or we’re going to erase you from the platform.” I’m not talking about the developers and creators, I’m talking about the community. The community has essentially destroyed what imgur once was. These days imgur is strictly about politics and making sure you’re on their side and you agree with their policies more so than about connecting people and sharing content. If you join imgur I suggest staying off the front page as it is full of anger, hatred and vitriol, if you disagree with someone they will make sure others attack you for what you believe in. Imgur is no longer an accepting community, but a haven for rude and insensitive people looking to tear down whatever it is you believe in.
An actual detriment to even have downloaded
by Avlongirl on 2020/10/10 12:37
My main problem with the Imgur mobile site is that it massively downgraded the quality of images, which is annoying for normal pictures but is actually crippling for your ability to read any text on the images that’s somewhat small. Zooming in or opening the image in a new tab do nothing to help. I assumed downloading the app would let me see things in full resolution. It’s annoying that you need to log in and select topics of interest. The fact that it tries to create a feed for you makes it feel like the app is trying to force you to treat it like reddit or a social media site where you just scroll through an infinite feed. That’s not what I and most people use Imgur for, and it’s just an awkward thing. Even beyond the minor annoyances, the biggest issue is that it doesn’t at all improve the quality, and it prevents you from opening anything on the mobile website by automatically redirecting you to the app. This second part is a huge problem because the only actual way to view images in high quality is through the “request desktop website” function on the safari browser app, which you can’t do if you have the Imgur app downloaded because it won’t let you open the Imgur mobile website at all, meaning you can’t switch over to the desktop site to actually view your images. So needless to say I’ve deleted the app and am actively searching for an alternative to Imgur that isn’t such a dumpster fire to use on mobile.
Inferior to the mobile website
by Dr. Missile on 2018/08/18 19:31
I look at imgur for images not for comments. If I want comments I’ll look at reddit. The problem with the mobile app is that each post is cluttered with other annoying and unwanted information such as comments, links, and tags and there is an unwanted toolbar persistent at the bottom of the screen. The result is that only 50% of the screen is dedicated to the actual image. Also, on the website, if you click the ‘view more’ button, it expands the the additional posts inline. The app takes you to a different page, requiring going back and forth a lot. Personally I hate this and much prefer the contiguous browsing experience of the website. All in the app provides an very unpleasant image viewing experience. As an aside, that you can no longer hide the ‘view in app’ button on the mobile website is pretty effing obnoxious. How bout this- make the app better than the website, catering to my and I assume others desire to view images more fluidly.
It gets worse every time
by Electrimatics on 2018/07/13 19:23
Let me first correct the description: Imgur is not the easiest way to discover spicy memes. There is a fresh batch of spambot posts every minute. Your phone is about to get slower, hotter, and most definitely less funny. Recent updates have proven the company has loss regard for its users and focused a little too much on how the can extract money by making viewing posts less user friendly by the minute. I understand that this is a free app and a business model must make money, but beware of floating ad bars, adds between every few posts, adds in the middle of threads, and so on. And they aren't just ads; they are intrusive, prompt users to download malware on the regular, show pornographic images, and freeze a post when they fail to load (which, again, is a common occurrence). When I joined a few years ago, I would have, without a doubt, given Imgur 6 stars. This is the only way we are able to speak up, as posts challenging the company are deleted within the app itself.
Back In My Day...
by xXthat1dudeXx on 2018/07/06 00:10
Dear Reader, Back in 2012 when I first became a member of imgur, the site was a great get away. It was a fantastic way to unwind after work for 15 minutes get a few laughs and continue with my day. It was efficient, straightforward, and fun. Now, though, it’s loaded with ads and slower than any app I’ve ever used. It starts off alright, but slows down 2-3 images in. After that it’s slow to transition from one .gif to the next. God forbid you run your finer over an ad. It’ll sit there and spin for a minute then load up an ad you care nothing about. At this point, you have to close the app completely and restart it, assuming you want to continue dealing with it. Back in my day it was fun. Back in my day it was efficient. Back in my day imgur was the place to be. Now it’s inefficient and a reminder of how the internet (a reflection of the world) just isn’t what it once was. There’s usually animals, so that deserves a star.
They don’t care about the community
by coopman200 on 2018/06/05 15:02
The Imgur Devs seem to pride themselves on having at least decent interactions with their community in the past. There was a kind of trust that the devs wouldn’t do anything to drastic to sellout the users. For example, around a year ago they made a promise that they would never have intrusive advertisements, only banner ads. Well they have either forgotten their promises or have decided that they don’t care about the users anymore, since ads will now show up in the middle of posts. I understand that companies that provide a product for “free” need to make revenue somehow, but this is too far. Making ads in intrusive places where people can accidentally click on them, (yes we know it’s on purpose), will turn users away. Not to mention all the malware and dangerous ads that can appear both on the app and website. I’ve been on Imgur since basically the beginning, and it has gone from a small company that I adored to just another sellout.
Great and (at times) Enlightening Time-waster
by Punkishgoddess on 2017/10/12 23:34
This community is fantastic, even the trolls make you laugh at times. If you have yet to experience Imgur, please do yourself a favor and try it out.... sometimes it can take a couple of days to get hooked and see the beauty of this community. It’s five star hands down. Now as for this version... I gave it four stars because the notifications seems broken, at least for me. It shows that I have them but when I open the app and select notifications it never generates anything other than “Imgur-verse” instructionals. I know how hard you guys work to squash these little bugs, which I’m uber thankful for, and I’m hopeful this will be corrected shortly.
Leftist Mouthpiece
by AreYouReadyForTheCountry on 2020/10/23 11:27
Imgur is a leftist garbage propaganda website. It used to be a lot of fun, cat videos, dog memes and smokin hotties in bikini’s all over the front page. Now it’s just an “Orange Man Bad” website. These people are so bitter and eaten up with radical leftism, they cannot help but spew propaganda. If you try to bring up an opposing view point you’re post or comment are downvoted. These downvotes effect your account, and once you reach -200 points your account is banned from commenting or posting. So if you do not support radical left wing communism and you offer a different viewpoint or argument, you’re silenced. Try mentioning how communism was the most dangerous ideology of the 20th century and is responsible for the death of nearly 100 million people. All facts. The Antifa/communists will downvote you, insult you with vile and vulgar threats and even death threats. This is all supported by the radical leftist moderators and creators of the website. It’s disgusting and I’m sure this review will be deleted as well.
Long time user
by jmgreen1421 on 2020/10/10 05:08
I’ve been a member of Imgur for 7 years and I still find it’s the main place I go to scroll. However the most recent update forces the app to reload if you leave it for more than about 10 seconds which is SO FRUSTRATING because if I switch apps because someone messaged me or I want to look something up about a post, when I go back I lose my place in the feed and have to scroll through what I’ve already seen to get back to where I was. I’m also an iOS developer and I know there’s always a ton of unintended functionality that comes with app development, especially with iOS 14, so this might not be something that is even being tracked or thought of for UX. But it is the worst bug right now in my opinion and is very disruptive to the normal user experience
Not what it used to be
by pete479 on 2020/09/27 19:26
Rehashing essentially what jbrown757 mentioned. Unfortunately Imgur has become a graveyard of political memes to vilify one side of the political party and apotheosize the other. I don’t even like Trump, but actual fake news regularly reaches the front page now because of the nature of community voting. I’ve redownloaded the app several times but each time the temptation to participate in political memery or even gloss over it is outweighed by how absolutely one-sided the content is. If you need your outrage to be massaged even more in 2020, then this app may be right for you. Otherwise, idk what else to say. I came to imgur looking for funny memes but left in search of a shower
Days gone
by omenapple on 2020/10/14 04:56
Imgur used to be fun, then it went towards the money and more and more ads. Constantly trying to push its users to use the “updated view” which looks hideous (kakis meme here) and reacts terribly. I joined Imgur back in 2010, back when it was more of the Wild West but still tried to maintain its PCness. The users had more control and you didn’t have an ad trying to sell you on a terrible movie or a new blender or XYZ. The app runs terribly it crashes and it now forces users to put your phone number into it so that it can “verify” your account. I can tell you that I put a fake number into it, with no previous contacts, the number I didn’t use for anything had for 10 days before putting into the app and a day later got an automated call. Imgur. I. Am. Done. No faith in you, you sold out on your site, sold out from what you were made for, sold info and have an awful app.
Nuff said
by Aisha918 on 2017/11/25 02:34
It’s an app that I’ve had for a long time, through all the updates and random changes. I’ve been here since the beginning idea of folders, the pleas and after years the final hurrah of getting them. This app is addictive, strangely not in a bad way, and because it’s very easy to understand I can find things extremely easy. And it’s interactive. I LOVE how interactive it is. I wish the “did you miss the day before?” Option would come back, I loved clicking and going back to the posts I missed the day before. But it’s super amazing
Disappointing
by AKosDaBoss on 2020/11/22 00:36
I feel bad giving this app this rating, but I feel like I have to based on what it is these days. I used to get on Imgur when I was having a slow or rough day to laugh at some memes, smile at wholesome content, learn a new thing or two, and just generally enjoy some interesting and entertaining content. Those days are over. You get on now and the posts just make you more depressed than you already were. Half the posts are political BS and the rest isn’t what it used to be. Why did it have to come to this? It’s not what the platform was intended to be. It should be a lighthearted corner of the internet. If you lean left politically, you might like it. If you lean right, you’ll be mad at what you’re seeing but laugh. If you’re a true moderate not enticed by the identity politics of today, you will hate it like nothing else to see this is what the world has come to.
Baffling lack of basic functionality
by DCpwnz on 2019/09/12 17:30
As a standalone app, I’m sure Imgur works fine, but attempting to open a high-resolution image that you found through another service seems to actually be impossible. I found a reddit post with an image I’d like as a wallpaper for my phone. Some users recommended setting the imgur website to desktop mode for a high-res version, but that option has apparently been removed from the web version. Hitting the “open in app” button simply opens the apple store, trying to save the image to my account just tells me that the browser version has been discontinued, and searching the exact title of the image returns no results. Even with the exact imgur URL for the image, there is no way to access it through the app. This should be a simple process. The “Open in App” button should just open the image, but it somehow fails to do even that.
Horrible Anymore
by Meeks4532 on 2020/10/02 19:12
This site is awful now. It’s one big far left circle jerk. I used to love coming on Imgur and used it since the very beginning. It was always good for a laugh. Now every post is just hateful garbage. They hate conservatives, women, and fat people (specifically fat women) with such unbridled rage that it will really blow your mind. I’m a woman and the incels are thick. I finally deleted the app a while back and haven’t thought about it much since. If there’s a post where a woman gets punched in the face you’ll hear a lot of MRA slogans like, “Equal rights means equal lefts!” Seriously??? If your opinions differs at all they’ll set upon you with the most vile attacks ever calling you a racist, smooth brain, idiot, etc. anything they can think. Become part of the hive mind and don’t think for yourself at all or question anything and maybe you’ll enjoy this singular thought cesspool. I’m off to greener pastures.
The ads....SOOOO many ads.
by UnableToThinkOfAWittyNickname on 2019/09/27 03:04
I’m fine with the intermittent ads shuffled between multiple gifs on the same post. I’m fine with the full page ads between posts. The browser redirect ads though are beyond annoying. I tried to address the issue with support because those ads are SUPPOSED to be in violation of Imgur’s policy. Since reporting, it seems as though the amount of these invasive ads has grown exponentially. Every three to five posts and I have to close the App Store popup, then close Safari, and only then can I return to browsing in this poorly maintained, under managed app. I’d suggest avoiding this app if you value your sanity and the security of your phone.
I love Imgur but...
by flxwerjjj on 2019/08/20 20:15
Tbh I love using Imgur to save photos in my own albums etc., but the only thing I was kind of dissatisfied with was when I guess every time I exceed the number of images in an album, it’ll most of the time rearrange my photos in the album by itself even when I chose not to rearrange my photos that way. If possible, I hope there’ll be a solution for this. And also for every time I put a link or something in the description part of the photos, when I refresh the page, the link will appear to be broken and not together. I hope that'll be fixed soon as well. I still love Imgur though!
Truly disappointed.
by Zooby42 on 2018/12/18 10:53
The ads are getting ridiculous. I get that they need to make money and I have no problems with that but the ads are just getting more and more invasive. First, they just popped up below the posts. After that, they popped up between images in longer posts and comments. That second one is where it started getting bad. They’d redirect me from imgur even when I didn’t tap them and the app would cause my phone to heat up and lose battery life. Once they fixed those issues, they started putting ads between posts on top of all of the other ad placements. Now, they’ve added new ads that play sound without being tapped and the old malicious ads are back again. I love imgur and its community but the app is so loaded with malicious ads, I’m uninstalling it.
Stupid Stupid Site, Awful App
by Darad227 on 2020/01/18 05:28
Recently and gladly deleted this annoying app from my phone and cancelled my account. They expect you to walk a fine line to post things and knit pick posts that aren’t even offensive, often threatening to cancel your membership or ban you altogether. I’ve tried to reconsider their decisions but it’s a waste of time trying. Plus, the whole site is riddled with immature trolls who bullies everything, yet won’t do anything about them or ban the ones who should be banned. I’m done. Reddit is much better with less restrictions.
Pros and Cons
by ÆON-179 on 2020/08/02 09:40
Pros: • Lots of communities. • Plethora of Images. • Ability to set post to “public” or “hidden”. • Useful for linking things in Discord/Reddit • Friendly UI • *Refer to other reviews for more Cons: • Stolen posts from other sites • Stolen content without source • Can find the same things on Reddit • Not so friendly community (personal experience) • Bots/Trolls • Few unique posts • *Refer to other reviews for more IMO I use the app for uploading pictures so I can link them in other sites if I can’t post an image directly. It’s helpful for that alone. You can find about ~85% of the same content on Reddit and other sites. So if you need an app for showing images to others through a link then this app is just right for you. Otherwise, I would suggest using other sites for forum style things since Imgur isn’t really best suited for it. I encourage you to test it out though and see how it feels for yourself. (2 star because I’m honestly fed up with the community in general and how as a newcomer I was treated poorly as well as how most of the content is stolen and doesn’t give credit)
Very anti-Trump, posts get removed
by CapricornAngel on 2020/10/26 15:36
Only pro-democrat statements are allowed to be posted. I notice that anything written positively about Trump is downvoted to oblivion, which seems to be the norm since it is so tightly connected to Reddit. Pro-Trump facts in the comments section are removed (yes, the wall has over 400 miles built and not the rhetoric that it never went up). Reposts are all too common with the reposter not giving credit to the original poster. Too many posts of their pets passing away that it is like a Facebook post and artists showing their creations with a link to buy to avoid actually paying for true advertising. Too much of the same old. With my rankings aside, I do enjoy some things that are posted and you can be alerted of new posts from someone that you follow.
Do you like to spend forever in the bathroom
by lahdidahdi on 2017/11/23 14:03
I’ve used this app for many years and it has caused several family members to wonder if I had some sort of health issues based on the sheer amount of time I will spend on the toilet. This app has literally made people think I have severe stomach problems... but totally worth it... the community is pretty cool, pics are funny, plenty of inside jokes and references. Out of all the image sharing sites this is my favorite one. If you’re on there find me lahdidahdi or find me in Facebook Lea jones in Hollywood 😊
Great App has a few problems though. Minor but great.
by Worfner on 2019/03/07 00:31
Honestly. Used to love the app. It seemed like a good alternative to FBs drama and IG’s fakeness but I’ll tell you this. It’s all a lie. It’s like reddit combined with FB, IG and Twitter but worse. People can spam images and basically farm points like there’s not tomorrow. I’ve been on a year and got 13,000 points. Roughly 300 comments and 10 images the entire time I’m on. Guy joins 3 months and posts 20 images a day and farms 64,000 points. The people are okay in the main area. There’s no sub areas so everything goes into mainstream basically creating a giant trash pit of sad stories, memes, political pictures and other things that you’ll realize. I could this find on Facebook. Another thing is the letter count. It’s so awful. It’s like Twitter’s and it can get annoying when you’re in a discussion with someone and you can’t say all you have to say on one thing. Overall I’d say, check it out but also get reddit and join one of there communities and compare the 2. Quantity vs Quality is how I see it.
So trendy it hurts
by DontFollowTheHerd on 2017/12/26 04:36
So you want to belong to a lifeless flaming community? You’ve came to the right place:) this app is just as bad as everything everyone talks about....nothing original but reposted garbage and wannabe witty comments that how dare you comment or try to make sense or you will get flamed. You sheep can keep your little community of basement dwelling bearded hipsters all to yourself, I don’t have to prove anything to anyone in this little world of crap talking internet tuff guys that love dogs and beards and dream of anything that’s isn’t cool that is cool now cause it’s not cool but how dare you don’t bow down to bill Murray and cats and yea, blah blah blah......I have a life thank you I don’t need to make myself feel better competing with a bunch of internet trolls to reach a front page and internet points.....get a life people really;)
Was fun.
by Disappointted! on 2020/05/27 21:35
I have been a longtime lurker for years and kinda forced to sign up when I got a new phone. Fair enough. The site is just toxic now. Racist, misogynistic, small minded and shaming people. They seem selecting in what they enforce. If a post is from what is considered some attractive then the rules doesn’t apply. The mods seem to ignore banned content. We get that enough in the real world. So yeah get it together imgur. Not for me. I’m done. But for future ppl. Stop the ignorance and hate!!!
Nice but also meh
by CaliKai89 on 2020/08/16 04:37
Full screen ads interrupt magic keyboard use (can’t swipe/scroll with trackpad) to the point where the whole device becomes unresponsive until you close the application. Pop up ads in horizontal are at the bottom of the screen, reducing content visibility when there is ample room on either side of most content for advertising. Full screen ads can cause device stuttering and lag. They also don’t work in horizontal mode, so if you’re browsing at night it blasts your retinas with a blank white screen. Some QoL improvements would go a long way. Looking forward to future updates.
App now crashes constantly
by Cylentnyte on 2020/09/27 00:29
Final nail in the coffin for this app. Aside from the gargantuan battery and data usage, the constant barrage of intrusive ads, and the downhill trend of becoming less and less “fun” over the years, the app now crashes consistently every time it’s opened after having been minimized. It crashes every few posts. It crashes if I scroll too fast through an image dump. It crashes if I jump to the comments. The best part? If you try to go to the website directly, either on a phone or PC, they’ll complain about you not using the app! The website absolutely crawls on a gaming rig that can handle some heavy-duty graphics requirements. This used to be a great getaway in the early days, but no longer.
Heat issue, ad problems
by Thingsihaveloved on 2020/03/30 04:14
I really love Imgur as a community, and I enjoy the content it provides. But it’s only enjoyable if you can access the content, which I no longer can. 1) Ads are ridiculous full-page interruptions to browsing. If you touch any part of the page besides the “skip” button, the ads will launch Safari and then the App Store. 2) My phone is hotter than the surface of the sun after using this app for 10 minutes. I have an iPhone 7. It is otherwise totally functional, and has been a dream to operate since I deleted the Imgur app. 3) This app running in the background would cause other apps to crash. 4) When browsing, if I left the app for a few seconds to check a text message or something, I could not return to the last image I was viewing. It would restart the app and I’d have to go hunting to find where I left off. I’ll try again in a few months in hopes they will have figured something out to make this app accessible for its purpose.
It’s Getting Worse
by NoahTBaker on 2018/06/05 13:59
Imgur used to be great. The community was way less toxic than other meme-based platforms, and it felt like the owners of the website actually cared about users. Now, it’s safe to say that neither of those are really true anymore. We accepted the addition of ads because we love the platform, but now it’s completely obvious with the phantom “accidental” clicking of ads, the malicious ads, and ads in the MIDDLE of posts that the owners don’t care about users at all anymore. Honestly I hope the platform fails soon. The community as a whole isn’t that terrible now, buts it’s certainly got worse through the years. With all things considered, things aren’t looking up for this app. I would not recommend it.
The ads are done so poorly
by C_PleaseFixThis_B on 2019/04/21 16:16
I think everything understands that imgur stays running due to ad revenue. What I don’t understand is how they can possibly think that the way that the implementation of the ads is done is in any way acceptable. The app has gone downhill and now have an atrocious user experience with overly intrusive ads that are terribly placed and prevent seamless navigation through posts. Half the time you can’t even scroll to the next page without so much as grazing an ad and if that occurs say goodbye to viewing what you were attempting to look at. Instead you get taken to a page for whatever junk they decided to plaster every page with. This app has just really gone downhill.
Crude Society
by MWGJr on 2018/07/26 04:12
There should be a button that enables a user to delete rude comments from their posts. I’ve received of nothing but hate while being on this app and I’m honestly sick of it. I’m only using it to upload photos of my own to copy the links of it and email or text or message through the internet for my friends, family, etc. But everything I post is being attacked and when I report the comments, nothing happens. I had to go delete several posts. The pictures I hadn’t deleted, I had to change their settings to ‘hidden’ just so that I could avoid unnecessary hate.
Politics have hurt this app
by Alex99d on 2020/09/11 05:41
I used to love imgur. I’ve never brought my political views to the app, and it was a great place to laugh and enjoy great and wholesome content. However, I have pretty much stopped using this app due to the fact that one out of three/four posts is about extremely political opinions. This used to be an incredibly enjoyable place for people to share great content, but unfortunately it’s turned into somewhat of a political opinion board, and regardless of my political views that’s just not what I used this app for. Just sad to see a great platform consumed by politics.
Latest update has made the Chat feature almost useless
by Spcslammosam on 2019/10/29 14:38
Messages are a trainwreck... I have hundreds of old messages that have been opened that are now unread and need to be deleted, again. Imgur app today w/latest iOS update
by Jayzlie on 2020/11/08 13:21
Dear Devs. Please look into updating the app to properly function with the latest iOS. I know y’all have your hands full but, right now iPhones are heating up insanely to the point one can fry eggs on. Various posts are lagged/delayed when trying to flip through them. And it severely hampers the rest of the device to the point one has to restart. Quitting the app and restarting iPhone puts it back resolves it but I’m afraid of burning my hands if I try to use the Imgur app so it’s now relegated to DO NOT OPEN status. Thanks
This app makes me laugh.
by Bonzaiblitz on 2018/09/07 03:48
As a person who suffers from depression few things make me happy...even less laugh. I’ve been using imgur for about 7 years. My battle is constant, but at least at the end of the day I can count on imgur to have a user friendly interface, little or no ads and fresh funny high quality content. Thanks fellow imgurians and the Imgur team for making the end of each day a little brighter.
Last few weeks, the keyboard won’t stay up
by star2fire on 2020/10/10 11:55
I really have enjoyed this app the last few years. But in the last week or two, there’s no way to make comments anymore. The comment window won’t stay open the keyboard won’t stay up. I tried to reply to someone and FIVE TIMES the window crashed and my comment was lost. My frustration has finally taken hold, and I deleted the app. It’s no good to me this way.
Drains battery life in background
by timbo2132 on 2018/06/16 03:34
Maybe my iPhone 6s is a bit out of date, but it’s getting very hot when running Imgur. The app uses a lot of battery, and often is laggy. I wish I could just use the website, because imgur is a website. The mobile version is intentionally gimped to force you to get the app. Imgur’s “social” aspect is quite odd. I have been using imgur since it was just an image host, and the “community” that has developed is kind of creepy. I’ve been messaged by creeps. I don’t even want messaging. The amount of ads is getting out of hand. On galleries with multiple images, weird ads are inserted between photos, leading to confusion. A lot of the ads don’t make sense or are in foreign languages. The way you scroll down a gallery makes it too easy to accidentally click an ad launching you out of the app. I usually just force close the app in frustration when this happens. This is simply a shady technique of getting clicks.
Bring back mr Puckett
by Steven=42 on 2020/11/18 20:30
Bad review until he is brought back. This app used to be amazing but then they desired to do adds on pages .At first I wasn’t happy about the sponsored posts but whatever I could skip them. Then they put adds at the bottom of image posts that you could accidentally click on and they were full of virus links. Then they put adds in the middle of long posts and NEVER made sure the adds were safe. Literally every add is a scam ware add. That was the final straw imgur. Until you fix your mess up here I’m done with you and will always browse with a adblocker so that you don’t get any money from me. I hate to do this but you gave us no choice.
We welcome you!
by Peyote.Jay on 2020/09/22 11:35
You’ll read many reviews that are negative due to politics, etc. Guess what? You get that anywhere you go on social media. Imgur is what it says it is. People posting what’s important to them, whether that be loads of cutting edge memelordery or photos of their garden. It’s a vibrant community. Always has and always will be. Join us and let the memes flow! (Just don’t post a selfie. We don’t care if you’re pretty and we will roast you for it)
It's pretty good, but still has problems
by cerbralone on 2018/02/05 17:38
It is really good if you need something to waste your time. Though the community is weird and can be really toxic, the general experience tends to be quite positive, interesting, and enjoyable. However, it does have some flaws. Two of the most notable flaws is that sometimes the screen will lock and sometimes crash the app when loading a large image and second, gifs will occasionally cause your music to pause if you are listening to any while browsing.
It’s ok
by MissSmith1017 on 2018/10/23 21:25
Ehhh.... it’s alright I guess. I’ve noticed it is very glitchy. Tagging is a nightmare, I just cut and paste through my notes. You need to stumble through it and make a lot of mistakes in the beginning. I am posting art and have noticed people just troll most of the feed. Some comments feel like mass bots as they don’t necessarily match the images, and as far as I can tell there is no way to delete comments. Pretty stupid you are the one building your page. I would go with Insta over this if you are creative, but if you are looking for entrainment and not necessarily building a following it’s worth a try.
Won’t allow me to upload
by Greenman22 on 2018/04/17 03:20
This is not user error, as I used to be able to upload pictures without problem. Whenever I try and upload an image it says “invalid captcha” and will not allow me to proceed. The problem is THERE IS NO PLACE TO ENTER A CAPTCHA. No box with scrambled letters and an area to type. No boxes to click on to check off. Nothing. I have searched the entire app for at least 20 minutes and then looked it up and this is a common problem. This is just sad that an app this large can fail so badly and for so long (this has been a problem for me for months). I will adjust my review if this is fixed, but I doubt it will be.
Terrible "admins"
by Gum-gum payne on 2019/05/19 05:49
The mods are absolutely terrible, banning newer accounts for hardly anything, but protect accounts that are "renown" even though they partake in targeted harassment, sending users violent messages, etc. Extremely left leaning user base, that argues without facts. It's also turned into nothing but reposts with zero original content. If you don't want cancer, then avoid this website/app. I've already checked, and they won't cover my medical bills since my cancer diagnosis. Update: The “tolerant” left circle jerk has grown exponentially and has ruined the app. Everything is about “old white men”, “Drumpf”, or some sort of politically aimed assault.
Ads ruined the app
by jimmy5544 on 2018/10/10 21:12
The app has started to include increasingly intrusive ads to the point where now some ads will even full screen themselves on your phone and are difficult to close without clicking on them. There is an option in app to make it so gifs don’t automatically load unless you’re on WiFi so you can save data but this doesn’t effect the ads that are animated, and now that there are ads on almost every single post you will now use much more data than previously. If the ads ever get taken back to how they were before or become less intrusive I will change my 1 star rating.
Doesn't respect notification preferences
by zerobitsmith on 2018/07/26 04:34
For some reason, imgur can't seem to figure out how to respect the notification preferences in the app, electing instead to spam users with whatever they feel should have your attention (read, what they're now promoting for profit). Fine. I've turned off all notifications. What now, imgur? I'll be honest. I used to imgur a lot more, and that's why I have the app. But since the company's culture has changed and they're disrespectful of their users, I'm done with them. Imgur is now just an image host. I'll explore content and commentary on reddit, as it should be. The app only stays to be able to upload things easily.
Ads and Battery Drain
by TheMercDeadpool on 2018/06/19 17:55
Used to love this app. It was always smooth and worked without issue. However, with the introduction of the obnoxious ads, the app has become unusable (and not just because I don't like ads). With the introduction of the ads, the app becomes more and more slow the more you use it - until it becomes unusable, forcing you to close it. With this slowness, your phone becomes increasingly more and more hot. With this hotness, your phone battery tanks. I can use up about 40% battery in 20 mins. The ads seriously need to be rolled back until the performance issues have been solved.
No.
by Kittykatemeows_13 on 2019/09/08 04:59
Just no. The app is fine. But the people using this app are pathetic. They attack you for no reason and no they didn’t attack me but I watched it happen to other people. This girl posted about her weight loss recovery and overcoming obstacles and they verbally attack her with awful remarks. Not one person said something nice and I lost faith even more in humanity because of this. If this is your type of thing by all means join IMGUR. The apps fine and I had no problems with it. I can’t believe the disrespect and audacity of people hiding behind a screen insulting others. I’d like to see them speak their mind in person.

Sad
by ?,lkpoikl.,mjuyh on 2021/01/20 22:47

by GOODBYE SNAP CHAT on 2021/01/19 11:02
It constantly goes off of the post your on.
The community is nice, but that changes with the political posts as well.

by Awyissss on 2021/01/14 02:30
this little website that developed into an app used to bring a smile to my face on the roughest of days.

Absolutely horrible user experience.

by zmcqueary on 2021/01/07 21:57
Yup..it’s official, whoever at imgur runs the show on this app must be gone bc this is intolerable. Down-voted

by Bomber7 on 2021/01/07 17:25
Waiting for the next hot app.

Please rewrite this IOS app from scratch
by Sergio1932 on 2020/12/25 01:32
It’a quite shocking how poorly this application works considering it’s been developed for SO long. At this point I have lost faith that it will ever work reliably.. time to rewrite from scratch?

And you’ll be waiting for servers to load and constant ads.

by Jeff1235632 on 2020/12/13 16:33
Imgur used to have very wholesome and inspiring stories that would cheer up ones day.

Imgur hates your phone
by cinpvd on 2020/12/05 20:56
This app makes my phone get really hot and drains the battery at a remarkable rate.
Outside of that, the app is ok if you like seeing the same memes 100 times and blatant attention seeking posts.

by Jbrown757 on 2020/09/17 02:23
Imgur, after being a member for 4 years I deleted my account and your app from my devices.

Imgur. I. Am. Done. No faith in you, you sold out on your site, sold out from what you were made for, sold info and have an awful app.

by Aisha918 on 2017/11/25 02:34
It’s an app that I’ve had for a long time, through all the updates and random changes.

Update says to use chat to share gifs and images, but there’s no function anywhere in the messenger to do so. It WAS there. Why did you guys ruin something that was working just fine?
