Power
by Mikeann126 on 2019/12/12 19:05
I love love love love this speaker. I use it every single day without fail. I hate when the battery is dead and you have to wait for a certain percentage for it to turn back on. Today it was 47% before it let me turn it back on. So that’s really annoying. Once it’s plugged in it should be able to turn back on.
I don’t want ads
by The 77th Doctor on 2019/12/12 07:02
Went to turn on my boom and got an intrusive ad for the magic button that took up my whole screen. Don’t shove ads in my face & also I use ITunes & Apple Music not that crap you promoted.
Working good for me personally
by yaaaaaboiiiiiiiiii on 2019/12/11 03:12
iPhone 8+ sitting on iOS 12.4, the app works perfect with both of my OG Megabooms. it’s unfortunate so many people have are having issues I hope they get resolved. Seems like iOS 13 could have broken something also.
Worst app EVER!
by POW Tramp on 2019/12/10 00:14
If I didn’t own the speakers first, the app alone would be enough to make me choose another speaker. Always, literally every time I use it to turn on the speakers is shuts them off and I have to restart. So FRUSTRATING!
Won’t connect

No party, no fun.
by Bucac on 2019/11/29 03:34
Purchased speakers solely for party mode. Could hardly get two speakers going after hour of disconnection, reconnection, firmware updates. Maybe it’s the app but because of the app, the speakers will pay. App is going to be deleted and speakers return. You had a good thing Ue boom. Party mode was the best feature. Without you’re just an over price record and player.
IT DOES NOT WORK WITH WONDERBOOM SPEAKERS
by hjxbdubsus on 2019/11/24 02:46
i downloaded the app for my UE WONDERBOOM but the app isn’t compatible??
One of my most regrettable purchases
by Tsams11 on 2019/11/23 23:20
I bought my speaker in July and it’s only connected to the app and played correctly for approximately two weeks in total? The app is complete garbage and apparently this is a widespread problem that the company chooses to ignore. Don’t waste your money on their products—they’re useless if they don’t work as intended.
Percentage
by babyvday on 2019/11/19 05:52
As I check the percentage on the app, it doesn’t match when you press the plus and minus on the speaker.
Doesn’t work after update
by C8MAPTA on 2019/11/17 20:13
Come on UE, fix the connectivity issue. Why every time there is an update, nothing works?
Party foul
by Bruise Springsteen on 2019/11/17 03:21
“Party up” is inconsistent, which defeats the purpose of having multiple speakers. Bummed.
Just updated to iOS 13.2
by silosnitsuj on 2019/11/17 01:38
Just updated to ios13.2 and now I can’t connect to my speaker. I tried restarting my phone. Deleting and reinstalling the app. Nothing. What’s happening here? UPDATE: Deleting and reinstalled the app worked for me after all. Just hope I don’t have to do this every time.
Stuttering
by bradbeuh on 2019/11/13 03:46
After buying a brand new iphone 11 my ue megaboom worked great until i got the app now it wont stop stuttering for a half a second or so every 30 seconds so basically i cant use my speaker anymore.
App doesn’t work!
by jfitznc on 2019/11/13 03:23
Come on guys, this is ridiculous. The party up function doesn’t work and the app doesn’t see my speakers half the time even when they are on. Please update the firmware again. Great speakers, atrocious app at the moment.
Not connecting after new update
by BUbear07 on 2019/11/12 19:20
Since new update The app is not able to connect to speakers. If I restart phone it will sometimes work but then not work when I reopen the app for a later listening session
No "previous track", rewind, or fast forward functions, only play/pause & "next track".
by َٰ on 2019/11/12 04:23
I bought this speaker mainly to listen to podcasts, audiobooks, and professional education courses I have to get through. As such, I use the “previous track” feature as heavily as the “next track”, and also heavily rely upon the ability to rewind or fast forward (controlling the track from your physical iPhone, this is achieved by holding down the forward or back button). However, the single “magic button” one button on the top of the speaker which is supposed to control music from the speaker without needing to access your device, can only do two things - press once to play or pause, tap twice to skip to next track. Tapping three times does nothing; upon reading the support page, it turns out “previous track” is not a function on this device, anything other than play\pause or next track must be done from your device. In addition, most accessories which use this single\double\triple tap system allow you to hold the second (or third) tap down as a press in order to (respectively) fast forward or rewind within a track. The speaker supports neither of these either. I would gladly edit and update this review should the manufacturer correct this and add any or all of these features on a update (the speaker can be updated through the app).
They Broke Party Up
by fugly_mofo on 2019/11/07 06:15
Party Up is literally the only use for this app, and they broke it. No cookie for you UE!
Buggy and inconsistent
by tmz99 on 2019/11/04 04:52
After update it keeps asking to connect speaker to Bluetooth - yet they are connected just fine. Inconsistent.
Very unhappy
by Dakotafriend on 2019/11/02 18:33
Love the old mega boom app. I’ve owned a mega boom and recently bought the 3. This app is not recognizing me old mega boom anymore, it was a week ago. And even then they are always cutting out even when 10ft apart. I can play music still from my mega boom but the app will not recognize it
App Doesn’t EVEN FUNCTION

Great speakers, app needs help
by BCRSR on 2019/10/24 00:02
Please stop the incessant stuttering when connecting more than one speaker. We spent a lot of money on these MegaBoom 3’s and having them stutter when only two are connected is plain garbage. Gave three stars because the speakers sound great and batteries are decent.
Can’t party up anymore
by UE Doomed on 2019/10/19 23:11
New update won’t allow party up—that was my favorite feature about the speakers and why I bought them in the first place. Please fix this!!!
Skips terribly!!
by Wild Will Hudson on 2019/10/19 04:01
The new app for mega boom causes a bad 1/2 second skip in the music every 3-5 minutes ensuring a very unpleasant pause in virtually every song. The little hipster software engineers at UE had one job... Make a tiny app that plays music on their hardware reliably. Ooops! Seems they have some work to do! Or maybe they think we shouldn’t mind constant hiccups.
Doesn’t support Mini Boom

Suggestion !
by ccharles37 on 2019/10/08 01:13
You guys make awesome speakers! Super big fan and I use it during my morning shower everyday. One suggestion is Siri Shortcut support! You guys are sold at Apple Store's and use exclusively Music, but don't have support for Siri Shortcuts! It would be so nice to be able to ask Siri to turn my speaker on instead of opening up the app. Thanks for all your hard work :) big fan here!
App won’t accept Bluetooth connection
by Sammyray on 2019/10/07 21:05
Try to connect to UEBoom and app says that I still need to connect to device with Bluetooth. I trust ions to connect and won’t load next screen. Haven’t had any problems till the IOS 13 update on my iPhone XR. I hope they figure this out....
Updated to iOS 13.1.2 and it won’t open.
by ppdod the great on 2019/10/07 16:20
Updates keep crashing the app. It’s disappointing to see that no matter how many times the developers experience this problem, they never seem prepared to roll out a version that will match the new software. It has now been 3 weeks since iOS 13 came out.

iOS 13...give app Bluetooth permission
by HFOD/RFOP on 2019/10/02 23:35
For those on iOS 13, go into phone settings and Boom app...turn on Bluetooth. App needs that to see speakers nearby.
App not opening from yesterday
by Sriram3007r on 2019/10/02 04:20
Looks like you have pretty ordinary app development team. App is no longer opening. At least Test it before you put it for your customers. Update as on 1/10/19: After contacting boom support I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it worked fine for me. But, I reiterate my point that it should have been quality tested before releasing it to the customers.
Because there’s on 0-Star rating
by SaltwaterSlick on 2019/10/02 01:47
Have loaded, deleted, and reloaded app over and over. It will not recognize the Boom 2 is connected to my iPhone. Speaker is connected but I cannot access any other features and controls supposedly in this useless app. Great speaker but app makes the ultimate ears speaker next to useless.

New version fixed the Bluetooth issue
by RTK111 on 2019/10/01 14:35
My review is limited to saying that the new app that works with Boom with Megaboom speakers fixed the Bluetooth connectivity issue seen in both of the older versions of the app. Nice to see one app can now manage both types of speakers. The new app was downloaded and listed my speakers, including names.

CUTE SPEAKERS, PATHETIC APP
by s4ndr4gee on 2019/09/29 22:16
Where should I start? I have one MegaBoom 3 and two Boom 2 speakers. Even if the iPhone Bluetooth settings show that the the boom speakers are connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth, the app shows none or maybe one of the boom speakers. This afternoon, I decided to let my iPhone forget all 3 boom speakers. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the Ultimate Boom app. I followed the app screen’s instructions and tried to reconnect all 3 boom speakers. When I went back to the app screen that shows all of the speakers connected to the app, all 3 Boom speakers showed up, but the speaker names were grayed out. So on the app screen, I turned on each of the speakers. The app showed that my Boom 2’s were connected, but the MegaBoom’s name was grayed out, indicating that Megaboom was not connected. I decided to go to the MegaBoom’s speaker window. For grins, I decided to touch the party icon. Ha!Ha! The party screen shows the megaBoom is connected. So I touched the appropriate app icons on the iPhone screen to start the party with the MegaBoom speaker and all the other speakers. All 3 speakers started playing. So a speaker which speaker window of the app showed as being connected is the one which is the central connection for the party. I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A HORRIBLE BARELY FUNCTIONING APP. SHAKE MY HEAD!!!! This is by Logitech? I expected much more....
Terrible app and speaker
by _HALF_BREED_ on 2019/09/29 21:23
App doesn’t do anything? Just tells me how to pair my Bluetooth then says come back to app no how many times open or pair my boom 3. Speaker disconnects every 15 minutes while playing music.
Used to work fine
by andhdzjaq on 2019/09/29 17:58
The latest update was such a mistake. I can’t use my speakers anymore because the app shows them both as unavailable. This has never happened to me before until I updated the app last week, please fix it!🙏🏼
Updates keep breaking the app
by Fun!!!!&&!!! on 2019/09/29 04:08
Update: After deleting the app and reinstalling it the app will launch without crashing immediately. Now 3 stars instead of 1 UE has gone from updates that break features or cause crashes to this most recent update that doesn’t even launch. What kind of quality assurance testing allows an update that crashes immediately 10 out of 10 times?!

by mnols on 2019/09/28 18:55
iPhone X, latest iOS, app won’t open since the latest release 4 days ago. This is outrageous, is there no quality control? I’ve been an evangelist for these speakers for years but can’t stand behind the brand if their engineering standards are so low.

Great Speakers. Disappointing app.
by jenrourei on 2019/09/28 07:01
I want to like this — because the ue Megaboom speakers are outstanding. But after several years of frustrating interface with the Ultimate Ears app, I’m about ready to throw in the towel. Ultimate Ears: please listen. I have updated. And updated and updated. The problem is that the app doesn’t remember the stereo connection of the speakers. Which is an essential function of having the speakers. I can futz with it and get the first speaker to see that another speaker is available, often even by having to re-broadcast the Bluetooth signal, and drag that speaker up to connect in stereo — but doing this nearly every time I play music is ridiculous. I bought a pair of Megaboom speakers for my mom. She loves them — but has the same trouble getting the app to pair them and just play the music on both speakers in stereo. Actually she has trouble getting the app to just play on the speakers. I want to love this. I do love the speakers. But after years of struggling with the shortcomings of the app I’m wondering if I can find some other interface that I can control it with.
New version not working

Hi guys. My new version that auto updated a few days ago is not opening at all. I can’t sync my speakers.
Heartbreaking app update...
by SolidGoldSilva on 2019/09/27 18:46
Loved the party up feature that this app made available to my UE Boom 2 speakers. That was the whole reason I added another to our collection and now I can’t even connect my speaker remotely with this app - which was another fantastic feature available when you had no idea where you last left your speakers. Please fix this ASAP!
I’ve had few problems but mostly fine with the experience
by Smile183 on 2019/09/27 13:53
I own several Boom 3’s and Megabooms 3’s, plus a Boom 2. I have experienced few problems with the app itself. I have experienced the connection issues with the app not connecting/ recognizing the speaker and when pairing 2 or more speakers (stuttering). But these issues rarely occur. The app and speakers work properly about 90% of the time. Not sure why many people have issues with the app but I do agree that the developers need to step their game up. I highly suggest making sure to update the app AND speaker to its latest firmware.

Yesterday was an update to the ultimate ears application. Today I cannot get the application to open. Very disappointed. I can only connect one speaker via Bluetooth but cannot use the other speakers that I have. I am having a few people over and was very much depending on these speakers for background music. Prior to this update that appears to not work I have loved the speakers and ultimate ears. I have several boom 3 speakers.

I love the app even though I might have something wrong with my speaker. I have two UE Megaboom 3’s and it has problems registering my main speaker sometimes. Besides that, I was wondering if you guys were already working on or at least thought of the idea of being able to power on your UE and change equalizer right from your watch!

DONT LET THIS APP DOWNLOAD ITS “NEW FIRMWARE” INTO YOUR SPEAKER
by 15Nsalazar on 2019/09/20 22:00
I literally bought my speaker this morning, it is Sept. 20th 2019 as i’m writing this review, and it is already messing up. First i download the app, which i believe was a mistake in of itself, thinking it would help with the speaker somehow. I left it to charge for about an hour and a half before i had to go to work. before i left it to charged i checked the percentage and it was at 50%. you’d think that another hour or so of charging would’ve brought it up to 100 maybe, maybe not, point is when i unplugged it i checked the percentage again and it SAID 50%!!! What?! HOW? Well the nonsense didn’t start there, once i got to work i took it out and started playing my music turned up all the way because it’s loud at my job, i work in a factory, and after only literally 5-10 TOPS the speaker said LOW BATTERY?!?!? WHAT?! and then i checked the app and it said it was at 9%!!! Well, after that happened it literally didn’t affect the speaker because it was still loud and sounded way better than my Beats Pill ever did. and then it started to lower the volume of the speaker, and i noticed it right away. Well i tried to play with the equalizer and sound setting on Spotify as well to see if that would help but, obviously, it didn’t. so i asked a co-worker for a charger cable to charge it since it was “low battery.” after i plugged it in and all, guess what? after only 2 mins, it was magically at 99%.... i cannot make this up. okay well since it’s at “99%” you’d think the volume would increase to show that the speaker has enough battery to support full blast and the bass would increase as well... welp... NOPE. and then after another 5 mins of it being at “99%” it dropped down to 9%!!! okay ummm how? it’s literally charging right now as i’m typing this review and it is now constantly and consistently going from a “very high battery life” of like upper 90’s but then makes a low battery noise after 5 mins or so. and the bass hasn’t come back, it is still minimized, it’s not as booming as it was when i first turned it on which wasn’t even 2 hrs ago as of writing this review. nor has the volume noticeably increased. i am so so so highly disappointed. Very very very disappointed. i read a lot of reviews on this speaker topping a lot of other, big named, competing speakers. And i can honestly say it is an excellent speaker.... and that’s judging it off the very very little time i got to experience it.

This app used to work great. I hadn’t updated in a long time and I just happened to do it this morning. Huge mistake! The app doesn’t work at all anymore and tells me that I need to ‘update the speaker’ but it seems that no update for the speaker is available. Very sad

Party Up - Not Quite
by Just Wanted A Party on 2019/09/13 01:43
Had an original Boom and wanted to update. I read the incredible collateral telling me the new Party Up would allow to pair multiple speakers so why buy anything other than the UE. Bought two Megabooms, a 3 and a discounted original... Dude, i have to have them sitting next to each other to avoid and drop outs from the auxiliary ‘Partied Up’ speakers... I live in a small apartment and wanted music on the balcony to match the music inside... nope, unless you don’t mind a skip every two to three seconds. Help would appreciated.

With recent updates, my Boom 2 wld still connect to iPhone but never be recognized by the app. Tried a bunch of things (forget device settings, delete/reinstall app, whispering sweet nothings, waterboarding, etc.), got frustrated, even reset it to factory settings. Nothing worked & now my Boom 2 also had old firmware...Arggh!! Contacted UE & got a fix. Listed below are the EXACT steps I took, in order (hope it works for you): -"Forget this device" in Bluetooth settings (can't recall if I did this before or after the next step; probably shldn't matter) -Updated my iPhone iOS -Uninstalled/deleted Boom app -Reinstalled Boom app -Reset speaker to factory (even tho I already did): Boom shld be on; hold "volume down" + "power" button simultaneously until you hear weird sounds; device will turn off. -Opened app, selected my device (Boom/Boom 2), went to phone BT settings, turned on Boom 2, held pairing button until it started flashing/pair mode -Connected to Boom 2 -Returned to app (I DID NOT use the multitasking swipe, but instead found the app & opened it manually, to avoid potential glitches) -Boom was connected to app, all is good in the world Best of luck!

Multiple times I have tried to reach out to someone to help me with my device but no one has been able to help me. I called in to see if I can get assistance but the customer service guy was very rude and was no help. My problem is that the device won’t connect. It was working perfectly fine until this BOOM app updated and it hasn’t been working every since. I’ve tried restarting the device, the app, and my phone but still nothing.

Handy software
by GuidedPrisim on 2019/09/01 19:13
If you have multiple UE products this app is really helpful. It makes having parties a lot easier as you can control any speaker from anywhere in the house. I haven’t had any issues with the app so far and it’s been very intuitive

Awful App. Don’t bother
by Dildocracy for All on 2019/09/01 01:50
Buggy as hell, app recognizes megaboom 3 about 1/25 tries if at all. I like megaboom 3 but this app is worse than useless- it’s a waste of time.

by silosnitsuj on 2019/11/17 01:38
Just updated to ios13.2 and now I can’t connect to my speaker. I tried restarting my phone. Deleting and reinstalling the app. Nothing. What’s happening here? UPDATE: Deleting and reinstalled the app worked for me after all. Just hope I don’t have to do this every time.
Not compatible with iPhone 11

Great speaker but need update so iPhone 11 can find speaker
No party, no fun.
by Bucac on 2019/11/29 03:34
Purchased speakers solely for party mode. Could hardly get two speakers going after hour of disconnection, reconnection, firmware updates. Maybe it’s the app but because of the app, the speakers will pay. App is going to be deleted and speakers return. You had a good thing Ue boom. Party mode was the best feature. Without you’re just an over price record and player.
Fails to find speaker

Worst app EVER!
by POW Tramp on 2019/12/10 00:14
If I didn’t own the speakers first, the app alone would be enough to make me choose another speaker. Always, literally every time I use it to turn on the speakers is shuts them off and I have to restart. So FRUSTRATING!

Ehh, it’s OK...
by arleighsimon on 2019/03/25 06:37
I read a review that matched up the Bose Soundlink Mini 2 against the UE Megaboom 3 with the MB3 coming out on top in most categories. This convinced me to go buy the MB3 after thinking about it for several weeks. I happen to have both speakers. Ehhh, NO. The Bose still sounds better IMHO. The most notable thing was that the MB3 lacks bass, even when cranking up the bass on the custom EQ. And the frustrating part is the app. While the app is cool to operate your speaker ie: turn it on/off remotely etc. BUT set the EQ to your custom settings and when done with the speaker, turn it off with the app then turn the speaker back on and guess what! The app does NOT save your custom EQ settings to memory. Nowhere in the app settings can you save your custom EQ to memory. I turned the speaker on and off several times just to make sure and sure enough, those custom EQ settings were gone every time. This was a major pain. Portable speakers like these will never fill a room full of REALLY LOUD music; I get that. But at least make it crank the bass so it won’t sound like music coming from a tin can. That’s why Bose is Bose folks... UE, set those custom EQ settings to memory and hopefully a firmware update will take care of the lack of bass...
Percentage
by babyvday on 2019/11/19 05:52
As I check the percentage on the app, it doesn’t match when you press the plus and minus on the speaker.

Was Working Until...
by damonty862 on 2017/08/02 06:24
I generally don't leave reviews. It has to be an exceptional app or really awful. This app falls into the second category. It was working fine until the update. Now I can't control the speaker from my iPhone. If I have it connected to the audio of my TV/DVD, I have sound. When I launch the app and connect it to Bluetooth so I can control the volume, the speaker disconnects. So now I'm forced to keep getting up, adjusting the volume, sitting down to see if the volume is alright. Then when I change stations or watch a new movie; the process begins all over again. This game of musical chairs has become old. I honestly don't understand how or why, this or any other company, can have major flaws for an update to the point that it's rendered useless. Isn't the point of the update to "fix minor bugs"? Has anyone developing the software at this company heard of Beta test? I have been a part of many with Apple when they are developing a new IOS. At a bare minimum, the employees should have been testing it throughly before a release. I suppose when you have sole rights to develop an app for your own product it doesn't really matter. Honestly, what can any of us do? We own the speakers and for most of us when can not return them at this point. All we can do is discourage friends and family from buying the speakers. Maybe when it impacts the profit margin, someone will act on rectifying the issue. Until then...
Sounds great,, Update not so much
by Nick R. FTL FL on 2015/07/26 18:33
The update needs to be completed through your PC laptop or your Mac. It cannot be updated through any Bluetooth device. I try to download it on my brand-new Sony VAIO, follow their instructions. And apparently there's something corrupt inside of the update which will not allow my computer to clear it to be actually downloaded. It really should be much more simplistic than this. It should act exactly like an update on the iPhone. To connect a USB and download the update and then put it inside of the speaker itself is kind of old-fashioned. So I'm still using the old version I can't power on with my app and I can't get all of the new eq use that they are offering. Sounds great, the way it reads back battery, sleek. It's cool, but updates are everything. It's $300 smackaroos. I want everything it can do. That's it.
Outstanding Speaker
by The Real AppMan on 2014/04/08 15:07
I have a pair of the UE Boom speakers and love them. They are water resistant (I take one in the bathroom while I shave or shower). They also have a standard tripod thread input on the bottom so you can mount them on an inexpensive point and shoot tripod. There is never any guessing about battery charge; just press the up and down volume buttons simultaneously and a verbal response tells you the exact charge level. These are Bluetooth speakers (not Airplay) but with the UE boom APP you have the ability to use two speakers; both stereo or one as left channel and one as right channel. Amazing! And I forgot to mention the these jewel have a 15 hour battery for all day fun. They are cylindrical in shape and put out music 360 degrees. The come in a variety of colors to match your taste. They feel solid when you hold them. You know that the build quality is good. Try them out. You will not be disappointed
App and speaker error
by WHO-WHO 2 on 2016/10/11 05:24
My UE Boom 2 is connected to my phone and I would be playing music but when I access the app it says "Let's hook up" even tho I am already connected and there is no other option to access or look for my boom 2. I can sometimes turn my UE Boom 2 with the UE Boom app but when I reopen the app the same problem as the I stated occurs with no solution in sight (on the app users side). Regardless of the lack of connectivity/communication between the app and speaker , the speaker is remarkable great sound , amazing all around there is some static sound when the volume is all the way which can distort the music but lowering the volume a few notches rids it of the static noise. In conclusion I'm giving it 5 stars due to the speaker quality but it'll be a strong 3 and weak 4 stars for the app unless the connection is solved for a more efficient use of both the app and speakers.
This works so much better for voiceover users.
by Paula2017 on 2019/01/12 17:18
Finally after a year or two of waiting, this app works almost perfectly with voiceover again. I love the fact that I can turn on and off my speakers from my iPhone. I also like the fact that I can rename my speakers without having to ask a sighted person for help. Thank you for the completely redesigned and mostly voiceover friendly update. I am editing this update a little bit. I now have both a BOOM and a Boom 2 speaker. I followed instructions for the double up and party up features, but it doesn’t work. The firmware on both speakers is up-to-date. Also, the party up feature is completely inaccessible to voiceover users. The way that you have it set up for a user to drag the speaker into some kind of drawer does not work because voiceover does not announce that there is a drawer at all.
Please test before releasing your app
by RosyS. on 2017/03/22 03:26
This is frustrating... With every app release we are told to change the way we can pair speakers to create double/surround sound. Each time, I'm able to do it initially and then cannot a second time. This new release has the cute visual. Nice visual, but if it doesn't work who cares about a new UI. The How To says to swipe left to get to the party up screen but that action isn't supported. Nothing happens. The manual option to pair speakers is gone or is not working either. In reality I shouldn't have to use your app every time I want to pair my speakers and the sticky setting doesn't stay. Honestly, please think about your end user. I want to be able to walk into my house, hit the power button on each speaker and have them work together (as long as both are connected by Bluetooth to a supported device). This isn't possible, though your advertising leads people to believe that it is. If the only way possible to pair speakers is going to be through the app then please fully test before releasing updates.
Works well, also in Stereo
by markus40 on 2016/10/29 18:02
The main reason why I bought the small Logitech (1st generation) instead of Bose was the capability to listen to any of my songs at any place in stereo and of course the sound quality was very good for such small speaker. Version 5.1: First I updated both speakers individually (I had to do this twice with one of them) and then I disconnected one of them from the Bluetooth connection so that just one of them is getting the data directly from my iPhone 7. Now I can connect this one speaker, start my music, add the second speaker, and can also use them in stereo mode. Very easy, fast and reliable. Again, the key was to disconnect one of the two from the Bluetooth communication since they talk directly between each other. Well done Logictec!
Failure of an App
by Mrs. Mukuro on 2017/11/29 16:03
I don’t understand why they would make a product that to use an of its special features you’d need an app, then proceed to make the app completely useless. I tried to avoid updating my speakers because from what I read from reviews it causes nothing but trouble but some how one of them ended up updating and I couldn’t double up with my other speaker. So I ended up updating the other one as well. Now when I play music the speaker has a light hissing noise in the back and it wasn’t there yesterday. I just got these speakers yesterday and I’m already experiencing issues which really upsets me. I looked up what my issue could be and it said the firmware, like how do you mess this up so badly? My advice skip the app all together and never update your boom. The update is for show and only causes trouble for you and your speaker. I’m still searching how to reset them to factory settings and haven’t found any luck. Just stay away from the app and update all together it’s not worth it.
Remote Power Battery Life
by CHA05 R31GN5 on 2019/04/25 14:23
The older MegaBoom App allowed the user to enable/disable the Remote Power option for the speaker. This has an impact on battery life and is n’t a necessary feature if you sparingly use your speaker. With it enabled, which was default as disabled, then the speaker is in a power saving state but “listening” for requests to power on. For this to occur, then extra energy is required. If the Remote Power feature is disabled, then the speaker has a full shutdown and not using extra battery capacity which shortens its life. UE, or should I say Logitech, has removed this user feature from the app and enabled it by default in the firmware. Factory resetting does not disable the Remote Power feature as was the default disabled option in older firmware. Really, this is another obsolescence move by a cheap company who had a good name until they sold to Logitech. Good job with ruining your brand name, Ultimate Ears. SELLOUT!
Fix the updates!!!
by Stang18rmj on 2017/12/01 06:59
Same issues with MEGABOOM & UEBOOM 2 Every time an update is released for the app and speaker firmware, I loose features. #1 The iPhone X is out....WHY DID YOU RELEASE AN UPDATE WITHOUT UTILIZING THE ENTIRE SCREEN?!? #2 I lost Remote Power several updates ago. 😡 What is Bluetooth Smart?!? I had to search forums and other reviews to figure out how to fix my remote power. #3 After the latest update, PartyUp doesn’t work. The screen to add speakers has a gray bar at the bottom and if I try to scroll up I can see half of all my other UEBOOMS but I get an error. #4 What happened to the option in PartyUp that allowed the sound to be switched between true stereo and normal sound when you have only two UEBOOMS connected? #5 The new app logo looks terrible!! Very unpleasant. The old app icon was much nicer. #6 Why do I need a different app for every speaker?? Surely there is a designer out there that can come up with one app that allows you to control all the UEBOOMS together. #7 I had to turn off the Alert Sounds because now they all play at maximum volume. It’s very startling when the speaker makes an alert sound at the highest volume even though the speaker is turned all the way down. Im very confused as to how these speakers are getting worse the longer I own them. You would expect the updates to improve or add functionally not take it away. FIX ASAP PLEASE!!!
It USED to work...
by mrmatrixdlg on 2017/10/23 10:06
The app passed with flying colors for the longest time. Sure I'd have the occasional bump in functionality, but it was never anything I was unable to solve myself. For some reason, overnight it would seem, the apps for both the UE Boom and UE Megaboom no longer detect the speakers. Note, my iPod connects over Bluetooth just fine, it's the application itself that is at fault here. I use my UE Boom as my alarm for work and school. It isn't the biggest inconvenience in the world to have to go back to my iPod's built in speaker, but once a guy gets used to something he's going to want it to stick around. I've been a happy customer ever since the first iteration of the Boom, the first model became my alarm and backup speaker. I really love the product and want to see the companion application do well. If it's because of IOS11 then I'm out of luck because my iPod is full to the brim and has no space to accommodate the update. I hope a patch of some kind gets released soon.
App disconnects, speaker fails.
by Restlessman on 2016/11/13 11:01
The latest update screwed up my whole system. I had my turntable hooked up to my booms using a TaoTronics Bluetooth device. In the previous version that worked just fine...not anymore. Now, when the TaoTronics device turns on and pairs with the UE Boom, the app crashes and shows that the speaker is not connected to my phone. I'd be fine with that except that without the app being connected to my speaker , the speaker doesn't work! If I turn of the Bluetooth transmitter, the phone app starts working again and I can listen to music via Bluetooth on my UE Boom from my phone. The problem: the app only lets you listen to music from your phone. If you try to connect a second bluetooth transmitter (not a phone, just a Bluetooth transmitting device) the app gets disconnected and the speaker is useless. Stupid update. Let me go back to the previous version.
New Megaboom app of as good as old one
by tidable 2 on 2019/06/07 18:47
The new combined app is a bit more complied that old one. But biggest disappointment in new one is the automatic setting to to remote power on. This setting is used so that you can turn on speaker from app. The problem is that setting drains concertante power unit while on. So it you leave your speakers off for long periods of time. You may have r to recharge to use. The old app allowed you to turn this feature on and off so if you used speaker frequently you could leave remote power on so you could power speaker on/off with app. Or if you were going to leave speaker for a few weeks you could turn remote power off thereby conserving considerable battery usage while not in use. Please return this setting to app.
Found a Fix for Non-Connection to App!
by a bit OCD on 2019/09/11 17:46
With recent updates, my Boom 2 wld still connect to iPhone but never be recognized by the app.
Down the toilet
by Biggrums on 2019/08/07 14:09
The original app had no issues when I first got my UE Megaboom, but then they switched to this app. At first there were no issues and I never had any difficulty connecting speakers or creating parties with multiple speakers. But at a certain point that all went down the pooper. I had to uninstall the app because it was getting to frustrating. I couldn’t party up or connect to a single speaker anymore. When I used the app to turn the speaker on, it would turn the speaker on, but then I got an error saying the app couldn’t connect to my speaker. Wait? What? After many frustrating attempts I decided to just reset my speaker, remove it from the app and just start fresh. That should work right? Nope. Now I can’t even get the speaker to show up on the app! Guess we’re going back to basics and removing the middleman app. Very disappointing.

Power
by Mikeann126 on 2019/12/12 19:05
I love love love love this speaker.
Won’t connect
by jjabbebd on 2019/12/04 00:50

Great
by hesh 2 on 2019/12/01 20:34
Works good
No party, no fun.
by Bucac on 2019/11/29 03:34
Purchased speakers solely for party mode.
I can play music still from my mega boom but the app will not recognize it
App Doesn’t EVEN FUNCTION
by Fishlocs03 on 2019/10/26 04:04
I connect my Boom 3 to my iphone and follow instruction but nothing pops up for my setting of speaker etc waste of space
App works great but...
by Lahleahpaup on 2019/10/24 21:27
The thing is it disconnects from my app frequently while im playing music and typing even... wassup wit dat my ninjas?
Doesn’t support Mini Boom
by haysdb on 2019/10/18 03:56

Ultimate piece of crap
by zxzxzxczxc on 2019/10/08 02:52
Worked fine. Updated, now it does not open. Worst app ever. I wish I did not buy these speakers.

Was broken, latest update better
by roger roundly on 2019/10/01 16:45

New version fixed the Bluetooth issue
by RTK111 on 2019/10/01 14:35
My review is limited to saying that the new app that works with Boom with Megaboom speakers fixed the Bluetooth connectivity issue seen in both of the older versions of the app. Nice to see one app can now manage both types of speakers. The new app was downloaded and listed my speakers, including names.
Stopped working

This app worked fine till a few days ago, now just closes when I try to open it. What happened?
This has never happened to me before until I updated the app last week, please fix it!🙏🏼
Updates keep breaking the app
by Fun!!!!&&!!! on 2019/09/29 04:08
Update: After deleting the app and reinstalling it the app will launch without crashing immediately. Now 3 stars instead of 1 UE has gone from updates that break features or cause crashes to this most recent update that doesn’t even launch. What kind of quality assurance testing allows an update that crashes immediately 10 out of 10 times?!

App is straight up broken
by mnols on 2019/09/28 18:55
iPhone X, latest iOS, app won’t open since the latest release 4 days ago. This is outrageous, is there no quality control? I’ve been an evangelist for these speakers for years but can’t stand behind the brand if their engineering standards are so low.
Please fix!! :(

New version not working
by Veeyalowboes on 2019/09/28 00:43

Boom 3 user
by Gasuser1 on 2019/09/26 16:18
Yesterday was an update to the ultimate ears application.
Returning speaker

App for Apple Watch?
by Riffy23 on 2019/09/26 10:23
I love the app even though I might have something wrong with my speaker.

Complete bull$#!+
by hardcore_harry on 2019/09/20 19:16
This app used to work great.

Found a Fix for Non-Connection to App!
by a bit OCD on 2019/09/11 17:46
With recent updates, my Boom 2 wld still connect to iPhone but never be recognized by the app.

SELLOUT!
