I used this app on my IPad Air 2 for a couple years with no issues. A few weeks ago an update occurred and it will not sync with my android phone at all and I get no incoming messages at all and it wont even successfully send messages. Very frustrated. Neither verizon or Apple has given me any helpful advice on how to fix this. Will update my review if I can get any helpful troubleshooting advice.
App doesn’t recognize QR code sent from Verizon
by Crisp Saremi on 2020/10/18 17:58
The app doesn’t recognize the QR code that is sent from Verizon when you first try to download the app and register your device. I tried at least 10 different QR codes. This makes it so that I can never get past the registration screen. Please fix
Zero stars not an option
by donmontalvo on 2020/10/18 17:40
What a horribly written app. It serves no purpose given how perfect iOS built in Messages app is. Installing it won’t enable a non Verizon user to get videos from a Verizon customer. Verizon needs to retire this app, and fix their terrible service.

Can’t use it
by ThroatKnocker on 2020/10/14 22:16
I’ve tried multiple times and it doesn’t even send me a code to input after I enter my phone number. Garbage app. Should have figured coming from a greedy garbage company like Verizon who laid off 40k plus workers after the race cuts they got a couple years ago. Don’t believe me? Look it up.

by Customer Service Really on 2020/10/10 13:15
I’ve tried countless times to scan the QR code with my iPad, but get a message that the QR code is invalid. Meanwhile I get a message on my Android phone that my iPad has access to my text messages??? After talking with both Verizon and Apple, I was told to contact the developer through the app. I’ve sent 3 inquiries with no response at all. I see others have had this same problem. The app used to work with my old Android phone. SMH

App no longer works
by original sd on 2020/10/09 17:11
Only giving 1 star because today this app has failed me. I don’t know what changed last night, but when I tried to use my app this morning to text a friend it required my phone number and a scan I’d. I complied but now all I get is a white screen with Verizon on it. I’m no longer able to receive or send messages. There is no way to set or customize this app. I tried deleting and reinstalling...it just doesn’t work. I’ve lost everything, contacts, texts, photos that had been sent. This app worked on my iPad for 5 years...now there’s nothing. To say I’m disappointed would be an understatement.
Unwanted text
by whoilt on 2020/10/07 10:10
App seems to work good. But all these text messages about politics is causing me to delete this app. I don’t like getting text from anyone I haven’t texted or no in my phone book.
No Text/Photo Backup
by O.G. Capt. Crunch on 2020/10/06 02:54
I have Message+ on my iPad and, as far as sending/receiving texts and photos it’s fine. The gigantic Elephant in the room is I just discovered that said texts/photos are NOT automatically backed up. One has to PURCHASE (for $6.99 per month) the ability to back up my info! Something that was NEVER EXPLAINED to me until AFTER I LOST all my text messages and photos!! Contacts/texts/photos should be automatically backed up - and it should be INCLUDED WITH THE APP....
Works Great

No very user friendly
by allie1314$ on 2020/10/03 19:52
I’m not sure what has been up with Verizon’s apps and accounts but nothing they have put out is very user friendly or easy to get around to what you want to do in them. If I could do no stars I would very seriously looking into to going to straight talk and been with Verizon for over 6yrs

Calls Needs Work
by Toni50s on 2020/09/28 04:12
Texting is great but, new software or a revised software for voice calls really needs to be changed because you can’t talk on app at all. I believe the calling feature worked once for me compared to how many calls I’ve received so, I don’t use it to answer or call out anymore. Please, make needed changes to voice calls and this would be an awesome app. For now, it’s not.
Horrible horrible and Verizon should be ashamed and embarrassed!!!
by jdkeidjdjdjd on 2020/09/27 02:26
I thought I would try it even after reading all the reviews that say it is crap. I was expecting to at least log in and get it going but I cant even get past that part. Keeps saying Im trying to actIvate a second phone and to scan a QR code. I dont have a second phone you freaking idiots. Then it says it you want it on this phone then click on the lnk and enter the code. Yet they send you a link with no code. Seriously Verizon you should be embarrassed and ashamed of this. Im done. Im over it!! I give up. My 9 month old could make a better app than this piece of you know what. Im so mad and frustrated right now. How can Verizon offer such a crappy app? Do the 4 year old developers who developed it even use this app? How did it get clearance to release? Who paid who off? IDIOTS!!!!!! Verizon is letting me down more and more everyday it seems like. How can it be this bad? How big is Verizon, yet they cant make an app that works. They should be ashamed. It blows me away. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!
Works fine for what I need
by SKSSKanz on 2020/09/25 23:10
The main reason I got the app is for sending vids and pics to friends and family. The standard texting app that came on my IPhone 8 is severely limited in regards to file size it can send. This app allows me to send higher resolution files easily. I’ve also had no issues making phone calls from the app. For receiving calls I still depend on the regular phone app. All in all, as a texting application it fits the bill just fine.

by hickchik12 on 2020/09/17 15:04
I’ve found that some texts go through on message plus and I can view them, but others don’t. There will be actual text messages on text, that I don’t get to see on this app. So I’m giving it three stars.
4/5 for me
by syeriahoffman on 2020/09/16 08:05
For what I use this app for its pretty great. I have an iPhone and my husbands is Verizon so we can’t send videos to each other or they’re blurry. I use app for that AND the schedule messaging is perfect! I forget to text people back and iPhones don’t have scheduled messages as far as I know but this app allows me to still text anyone from my contacts. Only problem is I won’t hear or see the any new notifications unless I go and look myself. Whatever. 4/5

I have used this app for years and absolutely love it. Unfortunately, since the last update I can’t get in. I enter my phone number and when I scan the received code, the app closes. I have tried multiple times since this happened. I checked for another update this morning, but no luck. Come on Verizon, let’s get this working again!!!

by ThelmaGail on 2020/09/08 21:24
The only problem I’m having is getting spam messages and not being able to block them. Why isn’t the Verizon spam filter working for this program. I really don’t want message meant for a man to grow his dick and drive women wild. I am a Senior Citizen Female, why aren’t these blocked?

Busy App
by TanaMBD on 2020/09/05 19:16
This App is very busy (probably for teenagers), but I have to use it for a Group Text I’m on. It is the only way to see everyone’s names even though they are in my Contacts. You can’t delete the old messages app, so I am bombarded by both. You also can’t do ❤️ or thumbs up or down directly on the text messages? It is confusing to use!
Inconsistent performance
by nicnake taken 123 on 2020/09/05 18:55
I’m on an iPhone 10. In not sure why this happens but I sometimes don’t get texts. Today the app has been saying waiting for Network, and only periodically will it connect. I am therefore not able to depend on this messaging app although I like it when it works. I just have to go back and reference the iPhone messaging app to get messages that don’t show up on this app. I’ve deleted and reloaded this app many times. When it works it is great.
Fixed it myself (It’s crap! Still!!!)
by TheRealLadyShine on 2020/09/03 14:59
20200903: Need a way to block spam texts. 20200619: The work around is to forward the text to your email, open on PC, then scan the QR code. PITA, and not useful if you’re not near s computer. Come on guys, you can do better. Texts a link to a QR code to scan for “new device”... I’m on the same device; just trying to update. Brilliant programming, guys. 20200303: response to developer... I can’t access or initiate the app because it wants me to scan the QR code from the iPhone I’m using. Got an app for that? How about texting a number.

Somethings you just need to endure.
by Lkajim on 2020/09/02 16:22
Using this App on an iPad and I thought that it would allow me to have all text conversations on one platform. I can text to an iPhone user and receive replies, so far so good. Other times if the iPhone user start the conversations then it goes to iMessage, annoying. Lastly, I’ll agree with another reviewer that said the app needs to be opened before the telephone number is associated with a contact name.
Can’t generate code
by jwkim022 on 2020/09/02 01:29
When trying to login to my number on my iPad, the login claims that a 2 factor code couldn’t be generated. It’s been saying this for a while.
Great App, but would be nice if...
by Denilyn on 2020/09/01 21:44
I use this app for the auto-reply feature which works great once it is set. Sometimes, it takes a couple of tries. Also, it would be nice if the unread messages badge would go away after I read my messages in the iOS Message app like it used to. It’s a pain to have to clear them one-by-one in two places.
Not the best...
by Ann2tie on 2020/08/30 22:19
Can’t use automatic emojis. Others who don’t have the app can’t read my messages 👎👎👎. I hate that I have to use this dumb app to communicate with people who don’t have iPhones. Verizon & Apple FIX THIS ASAP, shame on you, never had this problem with previous Apple iphones!!! Your function has taken a step backwards with my xs-iphone!!!
Assistance...?
by DanGRus29 on 2020/08/29 23:39
I’m excited to be able to use this app as a non-Verizon customer on my iPhone. It shows as compatible. However, when I enter my number to get my code, it pops up an error that it cannot get a pin for me and to try back some other time. I’ve tried using my wifi and on cellular. Has the use by non-Verizon customers changed from the description? Will update review/rating upon assistance.
Useless
by NhHomeSeller on 2020/08/29 23:10
We downloaded this app so that we could gift data as per the associated Verizon we spoke with. The date a gift never worked we had to spend 30 minutes on hold to get a credit back on our account.

by OneNote review on 2020/08/29 12:11

Not worth shouting about
by Nickle's Bro on 2020/08/25 21:11
I agree with the other three-star reviews. The app is functional and provides a useful service, but it has some minor aggravations (such as the two-notifications-for-each message feature) and just seems to fall short of my expectations.
No way to reauthorize iDevices that have years of history!!
by catching-up on 2020/08/25 07:25
Unbelievable after so many updated versions over the years, the app still can't handle reauthorization on an iDevice (i.e., iPad) so all the history isn't deleted! Setting up the app like it is a new install with only 90 days of history when there are years of history stored on the iPads that is just deleted. Just lost years of message history. For the price of service from Vrzn, I expect better.

NEVER DOWNLOAD THIS APP
by NickPinna on 2020/08/17 06:54
I made an account with my mobile number and now I cannot delete that account. Google has no answer, nor does reddit. I want my account DELETED. This seems like a violation of my privacy, deleting the app does nothing as I reinstall it days later and it syncs all of my past days messages. I want my privacy back. Give me the option to fully delete my account from the app.
Archaic form of communication
by Tra JJ on 2020/08/17 06:48
Texts will alert me then take 5 minutes to show up. It doesn’t have features like “like” or “laugh”. I can’t block people so I get a lot of spam. I can only mute them. The spell check is horrible even at the highest level. It makes more problems than helps. I actually hate it. While I was typing I realized I gave it two stars. Let me fix this. iPhone is so much better, more functions and more intuitive.

Use to Android
by Hunter901 on 2020/08/15 14:35
I finally went Apple. Boy am I missing functionality, to add pictures to a text message was entirely different and a pain. Second, because Apple message app is primary it delays messages from appearing in Message +. There are some instances I have to use Apple’s Messaging app because because I can’t do it in iOS vs Android. Do not get me started on Apple and multitasking, Android has them beat. I was 20 yr. Android.

Apparently Not Compatible with iOS
by Lord Deathbat on 2020/08/13 23:57
Loved using this app on my Android phone. I recently switched to Apple since I have a plethora of other Apple hardware (iPods, iPads, Mac’s, etc). So I was really excited to use Verizon’s Message+ app again on my new iPhone. Installed and synced with my account just fine but ran into strange issues like not receiving all texts, showing 6,000+ unread messages and so on. Contacted Verizon tech support and they told me this app isn’t compatible with iPhones because Apple routes the text messages. I then asked why it is available on Apple’s App Store with an explicit section that states it is compatible with iOS 10+ on iPad and iPhone. The answer is because I have a Verizon account and it will show Verizon apps on the store. Seems kinda dumb to have an app available on a platform that isn’t compatible.
great app, however . . .
by CRoze222 on 2020/08/13 22:25

First of all, it seems to be a bit ridiculous that I need Verizon‘s app to get in the middle of sending videos when that process already exists without complicating that process with this impossible to install app. In the texts that include the video, Verizon includes a link to the app but since my brother sent his videos from an android phone to my Apple phone, when I use the link to try to open up the App Store to get the app, it tells me that it’s unavailable. I then had to do some more searching to find out that there is a separate app used for Apple products. It seems to me that they should have a double link - One marked for android users and another marked for Apple users. Don’t confuse us older people and make it difficult for us.Many of us bought apples for the simplicity and ease of use. Complicating it up with apps like this will cause us to migrate away. During the initial installation steps, the app popped a QR code up on my phone that I am supposed to scan to activate the app but it is impossible to scan the QR code that’s displayed on the phone with the camera on the phone. So now all my friends are sending me videos that are impossible for me to watch. I’m very disappointed in Verizon. I understand why people are migrating away from them. They charge a premium for their service but they are no longer delivering a premium service.
Useless on overseas deployment
by TemplarXB on 2020/08/03 06:54
I kept my Verizon account active for the sole reason of using this application for duel factor identification during an overseas military deployment. None of the confirmation texts would go through. Only some texts came through. Customer service was equally useless to resolve.

Too late, didn’t work for me
by wishedithelped on 2020/08/02 18:55
This app should be pre-installed with the MyVerizon app. I didn’t know I would need it until after it was too late and didn’t have access to my phone. I had never heard of the app before I needed it, and my phone was shipped off to be fixed for an extended period. It tells you that you can have access if you scan a QR code that is texted to you. That is not true, if you didn’t have it downloaded on your phone before. The app needs improvement and transparency.
Useless for iMessage
by gfgum on 2020/08/02 18:16
This app is useless for iMessage, which most of my contacts use. Please update and fix pronto. Not worth the cost without including iMessage.
why
by kkathrynanna on 2020/08/02 13:35
just trying to watch a 14second video my friend texted to me. says i need this app to watch it, and then there’s no way to verify my phone FROM my phone. useless and wicked annoying.
Decent App, but needs work
by Josh259 on 2019/12/08 16:13
I have to update my review and reduce the rating from 5 stars to 3 stars. The texting functionality is perfect. The voice calls, however, are inconsistent. There are many times when someone calls my work phone and that phone rings, but I get no notifications at all on my iPhone resulting in many important calls being missed. Often these missed calls don’t even show in my call log in the app. When the calls do come through, about 1/3 of the time the caller can hear me, but I can’t hear them. With a little bit of work, this app can truly be incredible. ————————————— PREVIOUS REVIEW: I haven’t been this impressed by an app in a long time. I have two cell phones- an iPhone which is my person phone and a Samsung Galaxy which is a company issued work phone. I hate carrying two phones around and now I don’t have to thanks to this app. I’m able to add my work number to the Verizon Messages app and get all of my work texts through that and I can even make and receive phone calls from my work number directly through the app. I’ve downloaded the MS Outlook app for my work email and now I’m all set. I no longer carry my work phone with me and I love it! I highly recommend this app!
i love this app, but there is 1 problem
by ermahgerdsomeone on 2019/07/09 14:50
i absolutely love this app, i downloaded on my iphone because i wanted to accessorize my messaging app, yes it looks pretty good now, but i noticed something. When i message iphone users who use imessage, i can’t see their messages on the app, so then i have to go out of the app, and go to imessage to see their messages, another thing i noticed is that when you message someone on this app and they message you back, you get a notification from your original messaging app as well, please fix that, it gets annoying when i get 2 notifications per message when it isn’t an iphone user. One final thing is that when i receive a notification that someone texted me, it only shows their phone number and i don’t know who texted me until i’m in the app, which we all know that sometimes you want to ignore people, but you can’t do that here because you don’t know who it is. that’s all, thanks.
Ups and downs
by Bumpercakes on 2018/09/23 13:04
I have iPhone 6S. It’s getting to the point where it isn’t notifying my when I gets texts randomly. I was excited to find this app. My phone alerts me now thru this app when I get texts, except for iMessages, which is fine. I chose not to turn off the iMessage feature on my phone. This app is great for texting those without iMessage. It says sent, delivered, read, and shows when someone is typing u back, just like iMessaging. I like how customizable this app is. Backgrounds, fonts and text bubble colors. And it is syncing between my phone, iPad and Apple Watch, which wasn’t working as it should thru the regular message app that comes on all these devices. It’s nice to be able to text people without Apple devices from my iPad too. However, this app is glitchy. It will shutdown randomly, and then you lose whatever u were going to send in a text, even pics, and have to type it all again. That is frustrating. And sometimes when I receive texts it will say who the text is from by name, and other times just show the phone number, even if you have been continually texting the same person who is a saved contact. So over all it’s an ok app. If the glitches were addressed, I would have given 5 stars.
Necessary Evil
by LukeBreaux on 2019/02/05 20:57
Like most people, I don’t tend to write reviews for things I like. I also don’t tend to write reviews about things I don’t care for, but this application deserves a review. Unfortunately, I don’t have a whole lot of great things to say about this app. I have lots of issues with it. I certainly consider it a necessary evil. I don’t like how it doesn’t play nice with the native messages app (which I still feel like is far superior to any other messages app out there). I have the desktop version of this application and it does not talk with the mobile version, which is a very big oversight and needs to be dealt with. It frequently displays the incorrect number of unread messages in the bubble on the app icon. The entire app feels like it was thrown together in a very short period of time by a development team that was not given appropriate resources to build a great app. Yes, I have the latest versions of each app. At this time, the only reason I haven’t deleted the app altogether is because I’ve recently started to have issues with receiving large media files from folks who do not have iPhones so cannot use iMessages. Use this app if you need to, but don’t download it just for fun.
Glitchy, and there is no block feature
by Pat Rai on 2019/03/05 04:49
Okay first the positives: i love having a messaging app that allows for customizable fonts, backgrounds, etc. It says when messages are sent, delivered, and read. That’s where the positives end. It is glitchy and will sometimes shut off when I’m in the middle of typing. It doesn’t always notify me with the person’s name. For some reason their number will show up as if they were not saved in my phone. I left iMessages on bc I still wanted to use it to text my friends that did have an iPhone, but I found my messages would show up twice, once in each app. I figured this was just a compromise I would have to make for leaving iMessages on. HOWEVER my biggest issue is that there are no settings to block a number, and this app does not cooperate with the native phone app and messages app. I had someone blocked on my phone and this app allowed the messages to go through. BIGGEST MISTAKE. I only got this app because VZW is requiring it to view bigger media files sent from non-iPhone users. VZW, I am deleting this app until you get your act together. Sheesh.
Pretty Cool
by DJ WOZ! on 2017/08/14 23:53
This is a pretty neat app initially and has some awesome features. So far I have run into a couple problems with it already and I haven't had it more than 24 hours yet.. it won't let me load my info into the 911 response for some reason..it just tells me to try later (and I don't think I have to go into details at why that is important that the feature needs to work). I've also tried the auto reply feature, however it for some reason won't let me turn it on after I followed all the directions. Also, I don't know if I'm missing something but I wish there was an option to be able to turn the alerts off because I don't want it on at all times and don't like getting 2 alerts every time I get a new text message. Overall..after some updates have been made I think this will be a very handy app!
False advertising by VZW: BEWARE
by ahung1212121212 on 2018/09/22 01:49
Setup correctly on compatible devices, the Message+ app can only receive calls on devices that originally were designed to make calls in the first place. What does this mean? Basically, unless you’re using Message+ on a calling-enabled smart watch or just another smart phone, you cannot expect to receive incoming calls on your device in a reliable manner. In fact, the only times you will receive calls in the Message+ app on a non-calling enabled device (such as iPads, Galaxy Tabs, or anything that isn’t a phone or latest-gen smart watch by Apple or Samsung) is if you literally have the Message+ app open and running as the primary app all the time. No closing the app, or letting it run in the background, and definitely no locking your device or closing the Smart Cover. So for anyone that wishes to use the Message+ app on a non-calling enabled device to be able to receive calls at any time, don’t do it. It does not work. Do not expect VZW to change this at any point in the near future.
Needs improvement especially for iPhone
by jazzbarraz on 2020/05/21 15:06
This app was great when i had samsung. Not many issues. That was two years ago. After i switched to an iphone the app slowly stopped notifying me over time. I was using message+ as my primary messaging app instead of iMessage. I liked it because it was something i could also access from work via the internet. Over time it went from hardly notifying, to no longer receiving messages from anyone else who didnt have have either a samsung or wasnt using Verizon i believe. Im not sure. But it now only receives very very few messages. Its pointless to have on my phone at this rate. And the internet version for us doesnt receive them either and doesnt stay open on my phone anymore. Again, i enjoyed the app before i had an iphone, but now its useless. I hope this changes at some point. Its been just over two years though and nothing.
Good for texting on Non-phone devices
by Reno DM on 2018/05/07 13:59
Texting seems to work fairly well on my iPad, but the integrated calling telephone service suddenly stopped working about a month ago. Verizon keeps writing technical service tickets to work on resolving this, but has not fixed it yet. The worst part of the calling feature not working is the repeated error messages that pop up several times a day saying calling can't be activated now. I am not event trying to activate calling and the error messages appear. Was much better app 2 months ago. Text messages don't alway synchronize with phone. This has been true with all versions in past 6 months that I have been using the app.
Really Verizon?
by Pink gavel on 2017/09/27 12:34
Tell me again how long you've been around? 🤔 Those of us who didn't have Verizon as our service provider had to download your app to receive a short video from a vacation with friends - per directions from the Verizon user's phone❗️ At first a small inconvenience 🙄considering all of the other phone providers were compatible, since the non Verizon phones 📱 were sending media back and forth all week. Okay- App downloaded and video was sent, received..... 😏next you would save it to your gallery or share it in your social media or with family... nope😩. Trying to save it, it says "report spam" or "delete" are your choices. Verizon fix this!😠This does not make me want you as my service provider 😑quite the opposite. 1. You cannot save the media from your app, 2. now every time you open the app it downloads the video again and again. What a miserable experience and disappointment with the Verizon message app. 👎👎👎👎👎
Unfortunate Necessity
by lbbratcher on 2019/01/23 02:18
There are far more things I don’t like about this app than things I like. I will admit that I don’t rate apps very often, but I use this app so much and it bothers me so much that I need to say something in hopes that the developers are notified and given resources to make the app better. The app takes a long time to load. It inaccurately displays the number of unread messages. I have the Mac app as well and they don’t seem to talk with each other (it might be related to the inaccurate “unread messages” issue). The app has crashed a few times. It doesn’t push all messages to the native “Messages” app. I’ve had other issues, but they have been less noticeable and less cumbersome. What I enjoy about the app is it handles large file transfers better than the native Messages app ONLY when sending and receiving files from non-Apple devices (which is why I gave it a two-star rating instead of a one-star rating). The native Messages app still outperforms this app in about 40% of those situations, though. At the end of the day - if you can live without this app, I’d recommend not even bothering with it. If you have to have it, be prepared to deal with lots of little annoyances until the developers are given the opportunity and resources necessary to fix the plethora of bugs.
Decent for Texts, Poor for Calling
by iListen10 on 2018/12/05 20:27
My job requires an on-call rotation, however I have an AT&T personal phone. I thought this app would be perfect to forward calls and texts from my work device to my personal so that I don’t have to carry 2 phones. The text Message forwarding works fairly reliably, however I call forwarding does not. It works - as long as I have the app open and in the foreground. As soon as it isn’t, call forwards shut off. I can’t imagine this is by design because the chances of someone just leaving the app open at all times, even on a secondary device like an iPad, are so slim it can’t be considered useful. Another gripe I have is that, if you send messages from the app, they only appear in the App on the original device. So if you use Apple’s built-in messages app, you won’t have a full log of your conversations.
Un-installing after 2+ years of utilization.
by Maestro Vnasdale on 2018/07/03 02:44
The last two updates have really brought this app back in time. It no longer synchronizes correctly between products that have the same version of this app with the same user account installed. There is no reason in today's day and age that I would have to sort through three different devices in order to review a complete previous conversation. I thought the whole idea was, 'One app with one service for all your devices.'??? One minute it's telling me that it requires the Verizon cloud while at the same moment in time I am receiving emails from Verizon telling me that the Verizon cloud is ceasing to exist. After installing the newest version on a brand new device straight out of the box I am mediately started getting error messages telling me that the VIP future would not be functional or available to me. Enough typing, time to uninstall!
Only works intermittently on iPhone 6S
by Dreu-X on 2018/01/06 22:35
I have an iPhone 6S and it’s hit or miss as to weather or not I get a notification that I’ve received a msg. Sometimes the msgs don’t even come through at all. To improve functionality, the developers suggest shutting off iMessage because the formatting isn’t compatible with this app. Shutting off iMessage causes issues communicating with other iDevices. This becomes a real problem if you have children who can only msg via WiFi. Besides that, the design is simple. A bit lacking in the navigation department, however. It has miner customization capabilities that are nicer to look at than the standard iMessage. Could be a decent app if the bugs were worked out. Seeing as there haven’t been any updates in the past 7 months, though, I’m not holding out for fixes any time soon.
Annoying on iPhone
by eemunniee on 2020/07/15 20:27
Before I downloaded the app, my family started a Verizon+ group chat. It came through as a group text. Except, despite having all of their contacts saved in my phone, the messages just showed up with their phone numbers. I know their numbers but it was still annoying to decipher. Pictures and other media would not come through. So I discovered and downloaded the app, which was a relief. It’s okay. Nothing particularly special but it works. The most annoying thing is that on my iPhone, I now receive the messages on the Verizon+ app AND in my texts. I get a double notification every time someone texts a group chat. It’s incredibly irritating. Please make this more compatible with iPhones for people who aren’t Verizon customers... there are a lot of us. Thanks.
Loved it until IOS 12 update
by TKP25 on 2018/09/20 23:29
Worked great until the IOS 12 update several days ago. Now when starting it up it just sits at “waiting for network” and never connects. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times and have been looking for an update to the app but nothing yet. I am assuming the issue is with the app since every other app works great on my iPad except this app. Please update the app to fix this issue. I see others on the Verizon message board reporting the same exact thing. Edit: an app update came out today and has fixed my issues after IOS 12. App is working well again for me on my iPad pulling in. Y text messages from my galaxy phone.
No blocking option
by RCF-JR on 2020/07/11 22:02
Message+ is a handy app to use when all you have is internet. I have it downloaded to my laptop, iPhone/iPad, and a bookmark on my Chromebook. I believe Verizon stopped providing the option to download the app to a computer because I haven’t been able to do it on my new desktop. I can still use the bookmark though. For iPhone users, you have to turn off iMessage if you want to see texts from iPhone users in Message+. My biggest issue is that I cannot block unwanted senders in the app. Verizon wants you to pay extra to do that plus you have to go online to do it plus the block is only good for 90 days. If Verizon was serious about reducing spam/phishing messages, it would give us this option for free. That would show that the customer comes first.
Fonts
by Pupsmum on 2020/02/21 19:26
This would really be a cool app if it had more usuable fonts to text with all of the freebies with the exception of a couple even i can not read I like the cursive and use it most often problem there is in setting i enlarge it to the max yet when sending or recieving text its to small to read I'll keep this app for a couple weeks and hope the makers see fit to add more usuable fonts Thank you UP DATE ON APP I've decided to uninstall this ASAP Spent the last hour reading recent reviews back to a couple years ago and guess what???? They've not improved anything with this app in the couple of years back i read reviews and the problems are still very apparent such as recieving double notices for messages I have to use messenger to as not all my messages come in via Verison messenger. With some of my contacts i will get notice for both i messenger and verison yet othrr times from same contact i only get notice from verisen Many times contacts have told me they did nt tecieve my messages sent through verizon messenger Just not worth my time and effort risk of losing my messages verison just lost all my info when i upgraded to the new iPhone 11 Pro Max So I am not a happy camper right now concerning Verison PERIOD!!!!
Glitchy!!!!!
by NC2577 on 2018/01/30 12:12
Don’t believe any Verizon tech who tells you this is the solution to enable texting across Apple/non-Apple devices. Got this app to be able to text from both my Google phone and Apple devices. Messaging on the Apple devices is erratic—sometimes they come through, sometimes they don’t. Likewise for group messaging, sometimes secondary recipients receive the message, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes messages are delivered instantly, sometimes they are sent days later. The Verizon tech assured me it worked “perfectly”across his devices, so I brought in mine, displayed the non-matching conversation chains, and he checked all settings with no success before referring the problem to Verizon. Three days later, I received the official response from Verizon...a stock instructional video on how to improve call reception and clarity. Total fail.
Puttn' the "mess" back in Message+
by tcor0618 on 2019/08/31 21:17
Dear friends: if you are using Mess+ and want to have a super sweet convo with those of us not using Mess+ (i.e. iMessage etc...), you should know that it's super non-sweet to try and convo with you via this "app". It's about as undope as you can get. We receive multiple iterations of your dank SMS or MMS, 'bout mebbe every 7 seconds until, sweet Jesus, it decides to stop. Then when we reply to said dank SMS/MMS we have to deal with the our own poppn' fresh SMS failing to send. Undopeness abounds. The only way 'round this hot Mess+ is to a) switch network services (cellular-to-wifi or vis-versa) there by shedding some shadowy caching issue; b) use TWO messaging apps, one for normal messaging, and Mess+ for "the crapshoot"; or c) ugly cry. I installed it and looks hella featureful and stuff, but if it can't consistently send-and-receive... smh #uninstall #notblessed #reviewsneedhashtags
Love the auto-reply
by CityKatH13 on 2018/11/03 22:05
My favorite part about this app is the auto-reply feature. I’m a freelancer and an actress, and you never know when I could be with a client or on set. And the app lets new texters know I’m busy. My least favorite part is that there is a delay in message delivery. For example, yesterday afternoon, I received a new message around 5pm, and a message from 2:30pm came along at the same time. What if it was something important? I wish the app didn’t rely on data connection either. I just had a power outage for a couple of hours, and the messages didn’t roll in until after my WiFi was back (I keep data turned off when home).
A Sufficient App. 5/5
by Insomniac257 on 2017/08/03 11:20
TL;DR: All around, Message+ does what its supposed to do: send and receive messages, sync texts, maybe place a phone call. 5/5 I was hesitant to download b/c of the numerous reviews that noted issues concerning syncing across different devices/platforms. As of 8/3 -- for me, at least -- such a problem appears to not be an issue. I use Message+ on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and now this iPad Pro 10.5 (which I am using, atm, to write this review), and both devices are syncing wonderfully. One can even make phone calls using this app., but I have yet to test this out. I have no complaints.
Great app!
by ➜this guy on 2019/02/28 05:37
I think its great, because for people who have different service plans and especially for different phones I like to see that I can message them through their messaging app, from when I had samsung and texted somebody from an iphone I always had to turn my data on to send pictures or so on, but with this app I can message my sister with a samsung! Its great 😄 Not a big fan how it gives me messages through both of my messaging apps, which is probably from something else I have to check out but other than that this app is great!
Has Potential But I Expected More from Verizon
by Birdiejr on 2019/05/17 23:32
I was introduced to this app when my family needed to started massive text communication following bad health news. We needed to text 50-70 ppl at the time. At first my texts came through in my regular messages but wouldn’t identify the users even if they were in my contacts. My husband was added to group as admin and he never once received a text in his messages. I showed him a message that referenced Message+ app. He added it and all is hunky dorey for him. Not so much for me. I get some of my messages and others stay in Message+ only. Most come to both boxes (iMessage or not). It leaves me frustrated wading thru duplicate messages to find those I want. I just wish it was consistent and helpful.
This used to be a great app
by Maureenl1 on 2018/06/07 17:48
I’ve been using it for quite some time now, and I really liked it. However for the past several weeks, it just won’t pull my messages through on either my iPhone 6 Plus or my iPad 9.7; it does seem to be working on my PC. Both devices are up to date as far as the operating system is concerned, but this app just will not work anymore. Every once in a while I’ll get a message, usually from one financial institution, but I cannot receive text messages from family and friends, and I am not seeing any other texts using this app. I’ve had to go back to using the built-in messaging app from Apple, which I don’t like as much as I used to like the Message + app. Verizon, please fix this! If you do, I’ll update my review because this really WAS a great app.
Bad Graphics, Poor Coding, Pointless Implementation
by JKPartain89 on 2019/06/14 04:39
This app looks like it was designed in the late 90’s, early 2000’s era of graphic design. Like, after the company was already bankrupt and was trying to get money again.... and ultimately failed. Using your cell phone number that is tied to the same device this app is installed in? Have fun getting double notifications from every message sent to you! Your messages app will be filled with weird convo strings that look oddly one sided, since your messages being sent don’t get sent to you via sms..... aka Verizon? Tie our accounts to USERNAMES instead of phone numbers, so you can divert messages to that ID instead of doubling our notifications. Plus, there are random crashes, odd quirks and stupid mistakes everywhere in this piss-poorly built app.
Not much value-add over Native Messages app
by TunaFish#5 on 2018/05/15 00:35
To this iOS user, the biggest advantage of the Message+ app is that it automatically identifies other chat participants in group conversations. (Without it, unless a group member identifies him-/herself with a #NAME command, all others are doomed to see only that person as a phone #.) Otherwise, using Message+ means it takes over for all your SMS/MMS threads, which I do NOT want. I don’t see any real advantage outside of group member naming. Verizon sends messages periodically, telling me I have messages waiting (as if I cannot see them,) but when I install the app, I find I see the same messages in Message+ as I saw in Messages.
Awesome
by Mo Hakakian on 2019/10/31 00:13
It’s a great app while your MNO is Verizon, it helps you too keep your phone line even while you are traveling outside of the country to make calls and send and receive messages. for those who complains about iMessage issue, they are right but they should know the iMessage is not using Verizon Messaging servers, when you are using iMessage, you are using apple servers, it’s like WhatsApp or Telegram apps. I have enabled this app on another iPhone with a European SIM so I have my US no. When traveling and I can call, s/r text messages through this app while using EU SIM LTE.
Does not play well with others
by Munchybaby1 on 2018/11/10 15:30
I have been using this now for a few months. My main concern is that it does not carryover my messages from my iPhone to my iPad. Very problematic because you can’t pick up conversations when half the information is only on me device. Fix this communication problem and this Verizon software wouldn’t be too bad. I don’t know why Verizon changed the ability to get non iPhone texts on the iPad in the first place. It used to work great on my old iPad but all of a sudden it didn’t work anymore and I was forced to use one for iPhones and one for non iPhones messages. Very inconvenient and the the non communication between my iPhone and iPad just complicates it further.
Good idea but not complete not reliably syncing
by Paying Customer 123 on 2017/05/27 18:04
If this app fully synced "both" directions with the phone and other devices it would be great. But it doesn't sync outgoing messages sent from another device or computer to the native text thread on the phone. And I believe texts within this app are only saved 90 days. Those two items take a potential 5 star app to 1 if used for business, maybe a 2 if only used for fun. Anything less than a full sync and control over when messages are deleted make the app unreliable. If using just for fun, there are many other better messengers that have no tie in to Verizon. Seems like an easy fix to make without forcing users to change the default native texting app on the phone.
Good, needs some work
by Zarriko on 2017/05/24 18:15
Update: My notifications work now, but I still occasionally miss text messages that I know were sent because I have 2 phones. I get them on my other phone. Not sure why this is happening. Added a star, but am hoping they can fix the missed messages issue. Previous post: I don't seem to be getting notifications on my phone, even though they are turned on. I guess this was as if the most recent update. Not sure what's going on. I've rebooted my phone and uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and also ensured notifications are on. Quite frustrating.
Horrible
by SZimmerman on 2020/01/03 03:12
They only reason I installed this app was because I friend sent me several videos from our vacation. Initially I could watch the videos although there was no way to save them or share them on social media. I went to view the videos today and now all I get is an error message “Sorry, Integrated messaging service is currently only available to consumer mobile numbers”. So at this point I can’t access the videos and since there was no way to save them they are essentially lost to me! This app and the fact that the videos were unable to be saved is beyond ridiculous especially when there is so much technology available. I have never had any problems saving media from any other carrier.
Unreliable and clunky
by DucFanDan on 2018/07/30 19:26
Takes forever to open/load/sync. I have a bunch of the iOS graphics/animation garbage turned off so my device performs reasonably well, this app is just poorly/inefficiently coded. Also does not reliably share messages across platforms as advertised. Sometimes it shows both incoming and outgoing texts on both the iPad and Pixel XL. Sometimes it only sees the messages that were opened on or sent from that specific device. Hence I have two mismatched and incomplete threads. Then a friend sends a group message... and it tells me to download the Verizon Message+ app. I am IN the Message+ app. *facepalm* C’mon Verizon. It’s a texting app. More efficient coding, with an emphasis on reliability. Fewer widgets and “features”, more reliability and speed. Get on with it already.
Does the job but extremely slow
by But works (sort of) on 2017/11/26 16:32
I use this app to receive text messages on my ipad when I don’t have access to my phone. It does the job but the app is extremely slow and clunky, so I only use it when I’m really in a pinch. One annoying issue is that it doesn’t mark messages as read when I have read them on the phone. So if I don’t use the app for a while I have hundreds of “unread” messages listed. A “mark all messages read”button would be useful; as it is now I have to go and manually view every single conversation for the app to tag messages as “read,”and that takes much longer than it should due to the slowness of the app.
This has working absolutely amazing last few weeks!!
by Bestappblogs on 2019/04/28 13:52
All the sudden I’m actually able to receive incoming calls from my Verizon number using this app while I’m abroad!!! Literally the most perfect thing ever. It was great being able to make calls and receive sms messages. Although some sms verification ones don’t seem to appear, but that’s not a big deal since apple message forwarding is the bomb. TL;DR: I don’t know what changed but now I can not only make calls but receive them too!!
Works...sometimes
by Nhamzey on 2018/08/01 21:12
The concept is wonderful, the execution is not. I’ve flirted with this app for a few years, and every time I get frustrated and eventually end up uninstalling it. I work on an ipad our of necessity, but prefer my S8+. That said, it’s not always practial to have both devices on my person. I need to have messages syncing (most of my work is done via email or text). Messages sometimes don’t sync between devices, unread message count is constantly off on my ipad (currently reads 1483, which is more of an annoyance than a functional issue), and the app can sometimes be laggy and and a smooth operator like I need. Verizon, please get this right. If you can get all 8 right in the 10 ring you’ll have a winner.
Needs Some Work
by MikkiK1005 on 2020/05/02 13:49
This is awesome how you can link the iPhone and iPad. It allows you to call land lines and numbers that aren’t iPhones. But every time I place a call it drops me after about 4 minutes. And not all the text messages that go to my iPhone go to the message+ app. Some still go to the regular app. I leave my phone at home with my husband because he is disabled and health is poor. So I take my iPad to work and places I go. Sometimes it lets me answer incoming calls but it won’t connect me to the call. This could be an awesome app with a tweaks. Thank you Verizon!
Good Concept; Poor Functionality
by MissMe2 on 2017/10/02 13:05
I really want to like this app as it worked fine on my old moto x (1st gen). Currently, I have the iPhone 7 & the best I can say is terrible...lol. Initially, it worked fine however it! (da app) began to adjust the volume which caused me to change my volume settings for the phone. Shortly thereafter, I stopped getting real time notifications for text messages and calls. Now, if I use the app I have to open it to get the messages (text or calls), strange considering this is a messaging app... This message is for Verizon: I am a long time customer & would appreciate you taking time to fix the bugs associated with this app for the iPhone. I did not experience these issues on an old Motorola.
Absolutely useless app
by Ph0eniX on 2017/11/11 21:24
The only reason I downloaded the app is that a Verizon subscriber sent me a video from their phone and that was the only way to view it. I’m able to share photos and videos with anyone regardless of whether they have an iPhone or not except for Verizon users. At first I thought no big deal. I’ll just use the app to download the video to my phone, then save it to the camera roll so it can be shared with others. Well, that’s not the case. The useless app doesn’t have a way of doing that or ability to share the media so the only thing I can do is watch the video on my phone. 0 stars would be the correct rating. Too bad such option is not available.
Worked great until a few weeks ago
by ockizard on 2019/09/01 01:35
I co-own a small business and my partner is states away...but our “real” jobs require us to switch off manning the phone calls. Up until a day ago everything was perfect and it worked flawlessly, but today most of the messages from customers aren’t syncing across the devices, some are not even showing up, etc...so I’m having to forward him the messages the phone is getting (I’ve got the actual physical phone and he has Msg + activated on his phone). I’m well versed in the app (have iMessage turned off, etc) but today has been awful. Hopefully it’s rectified soon.
Are you sure you want a review?
by Big & Stinky on 2019/12/01 21:14
Everyday I open my I-Pad Pro. The app-self deletes itself? As soon as I go to the Apple Store & reload it? It comes right back? As if it never left. I’ve been to the local Verizon store near me. Their not very good with I-Pads. They just tell me to load the newest operating system without looking into the problem? Hence the latest issue I have with Verizon messaging. If it’s not one problem it’s another. The last issue I had was if the message was longer than a half a sentence. The keyboard would freeze up. I would have to go into settings. Reset keyboard & reset messaging. Then anything I typed in would be erased! 😤 This was a continuous problem for a year. No solutions at Verizon either. Later I found out that despite having an unlimited data plan? I needed to plug into Wi-Fi to load the newest operating system? Leave it plugged in overnight even if the battery was a 100%? Even though the default on my I-Pad was set to load automatically???🤬 Really? Why do we need to make things soo complicated?
It stinks
by VanTheMan82 on 2017/12/13 02:54
It absolutely infuriates me that I have to use an app to send messages to individuals who don’t have an iPhone or don’t use iMessage. I used to be able to send messages just fine until one day, I couldn’t. No one at Verizon seemed to know what the problem was - they reactivated my line and all of a sudden it seemed to work. Well, it happened again, and they suggested (in an almost threatening manner) that I should be using the Verizon messages app instead. I don’t want to use an app I have NO NEED for, when my iPhone X is perfectly capable of sending messages on its own. Thanks but no thanks for the app Verizon - I have zero interest in using something that is completely unnecessary.
A rotary telephone is a better way to communicate
by Revilo329 on 2017/05/20 05:16
I have never rated an app. It either works well or it doesn't. I don't have time to both expressing my opinion, which means close to zero. However it's 1:00 AM, my wife shot me down and I can't sleep. So here is my first review. This app is by far the most awful development I have ever seen. It looks like it really wants to do some cool stuff and it tries so hard, but it just can't get past the initial intro and keeps buffering. A 3rd grader could have done a better job. Whoever the mindless wonder is that approved the release must have taken their SAT exam with a crayon. I feel I am owed money for my time. Fix this garbage or take it down. Have a nice night...
THIS APP IS THE ONE APP I CAN’T DO WITHOUT!!!!!
by Infinityoo on 2020/07/22 23:11
There are apps that you use casually and apps that are a 1-touch wonder, but this app (if used properly-check out terms so you don’t get in trouble) is the only one I use ever single day of my life. I find it much easier to type on my iPad keyboard at a high WPM instead of my cell phone where I hunt-and-pick for my chosen keys. I wish you the very best and don’t forget to take it with you when you upgrade. Stay healthy and have a wonderful day.
I Keep Coming Back to It...!
by ndaisysunny on 2019/12/28 14:46
There are little idiosyncrasies that can drive me crazy, yet there’s so much to love about the app - the options for setting up beautiful backgrounds, contact specific sounds, smart groups, etc. Yet, for all it does well, my husband does not receive the messages I type on it whenever I’m texting him from my Windows laptops/pc, while everyone else does seem to receive the messages I type from the same devices to their phones. Go figure!
Great app for the iPad mini 2
by Ricklozdon122058 on 2017/06/22 04:45
I can now receive and make calls with message + If you are with Verizon you're in good shape. Within the app is a toggle switch for calls, it's part of the 9-1-1 feature. When you flip the switch you will see a gray phone on the left bottom. Hit it and you get a dial pad. It runs off you're cell, so when the switch is activated you're cell will go to message mode and you're iPad is now youre cell.
4/5 for me
by syeriahoffman on 2020/09/16 08:05
For what I use this app for its pretty great. Whatever. 4/5
Waste of Memory
by SaigonSquared on 2019/08/24 18:47
This app doesn’t do anything promised when installed on an iPhone. It will not send any texts either via cellular or WiFi. I have searched all the FAQs I can find and have zero reason as to why it won’t work. It is, however, now hijacking my ability to have text conversations. One out of three incoming messages lands in this app. The other two in my primary app. Nothing I send from this app is delivered, despite “sent” and “received” notations. As far as I can tell, there is no reason anyone should use this app as it simply doesn’t work from my fully updated and current iPhone. If it continues to hijack my conversations, I will be deleting it.
Ummm.....something has happened.....?
by thewildtwo on 2018/12/10 20:25
Don’t know what’s going on, but I’ve been using this on my Note 8(and all my other phones) with no problems, and on my iPad for years. But lately it has been crashing EVERY time I try to use it on my mini. Apple problem......obviously. Such a shame because it is my go to and I love it. UPDATE: It STILL crashes.....ONLY on my iPad. Love it on my phone....but it is crappy on my iPad. Now I cannot be using my phone.....leave the room and pick up my iPad to continue the texting conversation I was having. Seems like now I can only use my phone with this app. This is just.....wrong!

Verizon needs to retire this app, and fix their terrible service.

by ThroatKnocker on 2020/10/14 22:16
I’ve tried multiple times and it doesn’t even send me a code to input after I enter my phone number. Garbage app. Should have figured coming from a greedy garbage company like Verizon who laid off 40k plus workers after the race cuts they got a couple years ago. Don’t believe me? Look it up.

Busy App
by TanaMBD on 2020/09/05 19:16
This App is very busy (probably for teenagers), but I have to use it for a Group Text I’m on.

How about texting a number.

by Lkajim on 2020/09/02 16:22
Using this App on an iPad and I thought that it would allow me to have all text conversations on one platform.

For the price of service from Vrzn, I expect better.

by NickPinna on 2020/08/17 06:54
I made an account with my mobile number and now I cannot delete that account.

Not too good
by 3D 29585 on 2020/08/04 15:41
First of all, it seems to be a bit ridiculous that I need Verizon‘s app to get in the middle of sending videos when that process already exists without complicating that process with this impossible to install app.

Whatever.
