So slow..... slow
by Ballatanda on 2021/01/16 01:22
Really slow gameplay. Things just take so long. Also, I don’t like how my kid can just do any activity she wants. I want her to be on a real learning path so that her skills grow in a direction, rather than her just picking any game at her whim and it not all be so random. The Waterford program is light years better because of their learning path that actually builds a students ability while they have fun. ABC Mouse is terrible, incredibly lower level learning software than Homer, because even though there is a learning path, the kid doesn’t have to use it and instead they just hang out in the store and upgrade their avatar and do other meaningless stuff. The best thing about Homer is that it doesn’t have a store with ways for kids to use tickets. So I’d say the best and only good thing about homer is that it doesn’t offer a store. Good thing? I guess there is a variety of stuff for kids to do, but there is no designed path for how to improve, just a bunch of random activities. The individual games and activities are kinda cool, but on par or worse than ABC Mouse because of Homer’s slow speed. Waterford Upstart destroys both Homer and ABC Mouse but unfortunately isn’t offered internationally or even country wide in the US. Homer is a good attempt, but I think what is offered is barely even scratching the surface in terms of their effort to really think about how a kid learns and not just concentrate on satisfying a kids interest to do just a bunch of random stuff with no purpose in mind. Homer is good at keeping kids occupied on an iPad, but is that the purpose?
Inappropriate language !

I am using this for my 4 yr old. In the abc section the 1st word she hears is rascal ???? Horrible.. Please fix that..

Needs work
by cc1388 on 2021/01/12 18:59
We only had this for a few days couldn’t stand the pace of the questions in the games. The questions are spoken too slowly and often repeated, on top of that there’s a lag in being able to select the answer. Drove my 2 and 4-year-old and myself nuts.
Just realized that I have been paying a monthly fee for two months for nothing
by ldysnr on 2021/01/11 05:11
I first saw this app through a Carter’s shipment ad and installed it on my daughters iPad to try (There should be a trial period according to Carter’s ad, may be 2 or 3 months) We tried the entire day (because this would be her first app, so she insisted quite a lot) but this app was never opened so I found another one for my daughter. I had no idea how much this app or what would be the trial term, but since we tried all day that day and could not be successful, I just gave up. Today I realized that this app is making me pay a monthly fee of $9.99 since two months😳 We have never opened the app, never been able to use, even for once, and paid all those money! My suggestion to all future customers would be to go to their settings and cancel their subscriptions in case that they will face the same problem as we do. Apple chat support warned me that it is not enough to delete an app if it is a subscription even during the trial period. Sorry I am not an insider since I have never been able to use the app but I also don’t believe that I am the only person who faces a such problem so wanted to warn you all.

Fantastic app!
by skyler41339 on 2020/12/30 04:01
My daughter is five and pretty advanced. I’ve made her do abc mouse daily and she has learned a lot from it, but I have to pay her a dollar a day to do it. Great app there too, but the kid has to be bribed. We tried this one and she loves it. She has been on it for hours a day since we got it, and honestly, the reading section that we have been working on is the best I’ve came across with these learning apps. The best part is the little girl has a blast on it and sits and smiles and giggles as she is learning. Thank you guys so much for this fantastic app!
App glitch
by Hahakiela on 2020/12/28 01:17
App would not add another child. It would freeze and nothing helps. Restarted phone, updated app, still no luck.
Nothing works anymore!!
by ElizabethMaddox on 2020/12/27 19:05
My daughter has loved this app (despite glitches and issues) and it has at least MOSTLY worked for the past few months. BUT the latest update has rendered this app COMPLETE USELESS. Nothing works anymore. Fix it!
Latest Update Stops Stories in the Middle
by stephaniepbeebe on 2020/12/24 11:51
The latest download now stops stories in the middle, the screen goes black and you have to start from the beginning. Then it stops again.
Great app for my disabled son
by dsam4 on 2020/12/22 19:58
HOMER has made a huge difference for my 9 year old son, especially during this pandemic. Virtual school does not work for him because of his disabilities; he is unable to do work on the computer. I had him using other apps on his iPad, but they weren’t helping him to progress. We have HOMER set on toddler because that is where he is at academically. I love how HOMER will be able to grow with him. Not only has HOMER helped him with numbers and letters, but also his speech. He is nonverbal. He says a few words, but it can be difficult to understand him. HOMER is helping him pronounce his letters and their sounds. Thank you HOMER!!!!
Great, but bugs are causing issues
by JSoudy on 2020/12/21 16:34
My son loves this, and it has been so helpful to him, but he’s now unable to progress. He completed a pathway, but it won’t unlock the next area for him. He was able to move onto the next section temporarily, but when he closes out or clicks home, it resets his progress back to the previous section and won’t let him continue. He has redone the same section a few times trying to get it to let him move forward, but nothing is working. Please fix this bug.
Great in so many ways, spotty execution
by DoyleOwl on 2020/12/17 18:45
This app has been amazing in helping our 4 year old learn to read. The games and exercises are engaging and well thought out. My son is definitely learning and enjoys it. Win! Some things, especially after the last big release are not so hot. The animations for the listening exercises slowed down SO much! They add what feels like an extra 5 minutes to each day’s lesson. Worse, it gives him time for his attention to wander. Also, the scene building game at the end of each lesson is just broken. Plain broken- we can’t scroll after we put down the first picture. Otherwise, we are quite happy with the app, though I do wish the exercises would challenge him a bit more. There’s a fine line between being easy enough to not get frustrated and challenging enough to make faster progress.
Charges accounts after cancellation
by JAGB052490 on 2020/12/13 00:00
My daughter quickly lost interest in this program. We canceled our subscription and switched to ABC Mouse. This was in October. November I got charged again. Thinking I may have never submitted my cancellation I let it go and canceled again. Low and Behold December 10th another unexpected charge. When trying to get ahold of support for a refund I get told due to COVID it will take longer then usual (as expected) for someone to get in touch. I am still waiting.... I have proof of cancellation. I’m very upset that a company would continue to take money from people that clearly canceled their subscription and honestly our family does not have the extra $ to pay for something we are not using....
Worth every penny
by Karatestance on 2020/12/12 02:02
This is such a helpful app! We’ve only been using it for a month and I can already tell a difference in my child’s capabilities. He loves it and is learning a lot.
Excellent
by Austyusa on 2020/12/07 04:24

DON’T SUBSCRIBE TO THIS!!! Hasn’t worked in months but keeps taking 9.99 from my account every month
by manb1012 on 2020/12/02 14:27
You guys owe me like 5 months of payments as my child has been unable to use since whatever update you rolled out and will not let me cancel subscription. You should be ashamed for taking money when you are not even providing anything.
Not enough structure
by aivygjt on 2020/11/25 01:06
I used to love this app, and I recently downloaded it when I came across an ad for it. I hate the updates. My child can just sit there and watch the game videos over and over again and there is no goals to tell her she has to do her reading first. Update: The app won’t even open anymore. Just stays stuck on the loading screen.
Scam
by yoquieromiplataaaaaaaaa on 2020/11/23 22:43
I signed up through the website and I have canceled my membership 2 weeks before the next billing cycle and they restarted my membership when I had already canceled and stole my money. I’m so upset with this business doing this especially during covid-19 times and they will not respond to ANY of my messages!
Charged after cancelling.
by littleleveskyoo on 2020/11/23 04:14
The app is fine and works great. But! I signed up at the beginning of the summer I believe with a free membership. When that was ending I cancelled. And then I was charged twice after. I’ve now cancelled multiple times. But I keep getting emails about upgrading so I’m not confident it went through. Getting very frustrated.
SCAM!
by JamdungAngel on 2020/11/22 00:33
Do not subscribe for this using their website. There is literally NO WAY TO CANCEL. They will attempt to charge you indefinitely. The cancellation page loads as a blank page with no buttons to select or anything. There is no way to cancel, no phone number and the “our response via email is delayed due to COVID” excuse is used. This is a SCAM. Only sign up if you plan to pay indefinitely. Also, if you already have ABC Mouse or a similar learning app, skip this one. It lacks substance and fails to capture my children’s attention.
Web site won’t let me cancel my subscription
by Dave mosij on 2020/11/21 15:48
We are no longer using homer, I need to cancel my subscription since I’m paying for it for months and my kids don’t use it, I went on your website and followed instructions yet nothing happens, the page reloads to a blank page and doesn’t allow me to proceed.

Want to love it
by rwrattan on 2020/11/18 04:22
My wife is a school teacher and we both love this app for our 3 year old more than other apps. It used to work very well. Unfortunately the app has become unusable at times and appears to freeze or stop working. It also appears to show glitchy text where boxes appear to be missing. I want to pay for this app for my son to use, but it’s become unusable on my iPhone Pro Max 11 and iPad Pro so I’m forced to unsubscribe because I don’t want to pay for a service I’m not getting.
Paid just for the hell of it

The app has yet been fixed. Downloaded it to help my son with reading and he isn’t able to use this app at all.
Can the sight word practice area come back
by tmorrison1972 on 2020/11/15 20:22
The new version doesn’t have that. It was the best sight word learning feature I could find. Big disappointment that it went away, esp when it seems like it would fit fine in your new design.
Love the app but only on IOS
by Tmaduzi on 2020/11/13 17:09
We have a chrome book for the kids and this app will glitch a lot and still doesn’t have an update. I have had them play on my iPhone which is fine but I do wish it would work better on the device I had specifically for my kids.

I want to love this app
by Rfmommy09 on 2020/11/12 18:37
The program is great, but it’s glitchy. If we try to do anything off the path it immediately kicks us out. So frustrating to not be able to use the practice part of the program. One of the main reasons I was wanting this app was for help with sight words.
Amazing program!!
by North2928 on 2020/11/10 20:08
I am a teacher and a mom of 2. I think this is an excellent program. My now Kindergardener started using this in preschool. It has helped and he has learned so much!!
Very Glitchy
by Lenora J on 2020/11/10 03:19
This app would get 5 stars from me if it didn’t have so many bugs. The overall concept is great, but performance needs work.
Update ruins the app
by Mtywdc on 2020/11/06 21:03
My child loved the app until the recent revamp. The interface is not engaging. The forced downloads are annoying, and they trigger frustration for smaller children - either the iPad flies across room or she simply switches to YouTube. Listen to your users. An update this bad can only be a symptom of a dysfunctional product management team.
Won’t let me login
by tkisco on 2020/11/01 23:28
Keeps wanting me to resubscribe even though I have a membership. I’ve had other issues, but the fact they make it nearly impossible to simply just login is what’s really making me frustrated. I’m seriously about to cancel membership and delete it completely. This problem is also just on my iPhone. My husbands Samsung loads the app just fine.
u need to pay.
by faby garcia hi on 2020/11/01 21:36
i think that learning should be free and some family members don’t have the money i just hate it.
The Update Is Not Good
by Baseball4evr10 on 2020/11/01 21:15
We loved the former version of this app. It was a guided experience that had the writing practice woven into a story with activities. The update broke all of the pieces into individual choices- practice writing, listen to songs, or watch movie clips. Guess which one my kid never wants to do? Now the writing practice is a chore instead of a fun part of the story.
Impossible to delete
by mcook36 on 2020/10/30 15:11
I have been trying to figure out how to delete this app for a while now during my free time. I’m getting the runaround and I feel they do this on purpose to capture more money. Very annoying
Diversity Reflection
by Dr. TLM, Psy.D on 2020/10/29 05:10
So I purchased this product for my granddaughter to aid in her learning, the content is set up great but the issue I am having is that there is no cultural reflection of her as a Nigerian/Haitian African American child. Even in the stories that speak about “Food and Music From Around the World”. I think this would also help create cultural competence and awareness for others if this was included in your curriculum. I love Harold and the Purple Crayon but a book like I Love My Hair or evening Snowy Day. For the cost my granddaughter and other children like her should see a reflection of themselves in your product.
Horrible Customer Support
by adcone on 2020/10/28 16:23
We wanted to love this app. We’ve heard great things about Homer and were hoping to use it to supplement at home learning for our preschooler. Our iPad app will only take us to one screen and that’s to subscribe by paying for a monthly or annual membership. We’ve already signed up and paid. There is no way to get past that screen without signing up to pay again! We’ve uninstalled, powered off and reinstalled over 15 times at this point. There is no way to reach anyone via live chat or phone. There’s usually days in between each email exchange and after dealing with this issue for weeks +, I would like my money back for an app we keep being charged for but are unable to use. I still haven’t been able to reach any customer service agent that has sent anything other than “Did you try restarting?” 🤦🏻‍♀️
Black screened frozen
by anfqb12 on 2020/10/28 04:07
First Son was on it a few minutes and it quit the current page he started. So next day tried again, second child did the same thing and it black screened froze, the app wouldn’t open, couldn’t close it. Tried reloading from the app page, deleted it. Sadly it looked like a great program and could of been worth it had it not froze up like that twice. Four kids let down :/
Great learning experience
by mugamma3 on 2020/10/25 01:36
My children absolutely adore this app the games keep there attention for hours I’m so happy I found this it’s well worth the money 💯
Disappointing update
by Nouvellevague220 on 2020/10/23 18:29
I had finally found an app that was simple, that my daughter could use to help learn how to read, that was progressive, that I didn’t have to look over her shoulder and make sure she was doing something educational unlike ABC mouse which I found to be a mishmash of overstimulation but that has all changed with this update. I can no longer get to her to focus on one thing, she only wants to watch the videos, stories and play the games. Even the math section is just a total mess, when we first signed up, the app asked what reading skills she had but did nothing of the sort when they introduced math, the activities aren’t linear so she keeps doing the same activities that she enjoys instead of moving onto other ones, I can’t seem to find any parental controls in terms of what she has access to, how much time she spends on certain things... I literally cannot express how much I hate it.
Frustrating!
by tinalove_22 on 2020/10/20 19:05
I paid for the whole year and now the app is slow and doesn’t even load anymore. I should’ve just did the monthly. What a rip off
Great app, but...
by TootieFoodie on 2020/10/20 14:04
We’ve only had this app for a short while but it seems to only work on my most expensive smartphone. I let my daughter use my old phone to play on this app and my pathway stays on a white screen. We tried my tablet as well, same problem.
Stopped working since the update.
by MommyNurse8 on 2020/10/19 18:59
The app stopped working since the update. We have an iPad and we got to the sight word “the” on my child’s pathway and the screen just turns black and frozen. I also tried to run the app on a different iPad and iPhones. Our app is updated and so are our apple software. I have emailed support last week and still no response. I tried to access Homer through an android tablet and a desktop computer but my child’s pathway there are completely different and will just throw her off and confuse her. The app needs to be fixed for Apple devices or at least make the pathway on all devices the same. We haven’t been able to use the app for a week now.
Why abandon previous app?
by Rodzirra on 2020/10/18 13:39
One of the very few consistent things in my son’s life is his love for the Homer Stories app. Today I found out that you’ll be abandoning the app on which we have spent many, many $$ in subscription for him. I looked at this new app, and the navigation and UI for the Stories section is terrible - just an endless, cluttered scroll of thumbnails. This is just ridiculous and, frankly, lazy on the part of the developers. The original Stories app was thoughtfully crafted in a way that encouraged the young user to explore the various categories with voice feedback, and was presented in an engaging way. That attention to detail and obvious pride in the craft was one of the reasons I have been spending so much on the subscription. Now I get to look forward to watching my son get upset about his favorite app going away - when there is no reason whatsoever that it needed to change. I’ll never understand what possesses app developers to betray their most loyal users by “updating” apps to make them worse. How disappointing. I’m going to be looking for apps from a different developer, and will cancel my Homer subscription if we find something my son enjoys.
False

2 stars for the concept
by invalidname404 on 2020/10/15 14:16
The idea behind this app is great and I was excited for my kids to try it. One problem, it crashes every time I open it. I can’t even get to the ‘parent' tab to request help.
Regret
by km tx on 2020/10/14 22:30
Terrible customer service. No response to emails regarding issues with the app. The app itself seems like a good idea but my child lost interest quickly (about one week). My second child’s profile will not work at all. I was billed for the entire year and used not even 2 weeks. Disappointing.
Ruined Homer Reading
by awsed@2#3$ on 2020/10/14 00:36
Homer Reading was a wonderful app that our 4 year old loved and was making great progress in. Unfortunately, it has been ruined for us by the switch to Learn & Grow. Now all she does is listen to the songs or play games. We would love a way to disable parts of the program or set time limits on them. Otherwise will likely stop paying for this soon since there are plenty of apps that will let her listen to songs for free.

Homer is a Home Run!
by IsabelGS239 on 2020/10/13 01:03
As a private school New York City teacher with a young son I have been utterly impressed with Homer as a program. Homer is smart, beautifully designed and engaging for children. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone and it’s been a blessing as a working parent during the pandemic.
Crashes
by Ngdckrn7 on 2020/10/12 14:01
We love the homer app and were excited about the update, but we can’t even use the app now. Sometimes it crashes as soon as it loads. Sometimes it doesn’t crash until we click on something to do. It’s unfortunate to be paying for something we can’t use. I hope you can fix these issues quickly! I’ve already sent an email to your customer service 😊
New updated app has glitches! Pls rectify!

It’s a scam!
by L*Train on 2020/10/10 00:26
Signed up for the 30 day trial. Got an autism diagnoses for my child and did not need the app as his cognitive is just not there and this app serves no purpose for him. Tried to cancel multiple times before the 30 day trial was up only to be told it’s through the ITunes Store and can only be cancelled through HOMER. NOT TRUE. Was NOT through ITunes and could simply be cancelled by HOMER. But of course, after paying the $9.99 a month, could easily cancel through my HOMER account. That $10 means more to my little Family then you could ever know. SHAME ON YOU HOMER for being so deceiving in your process of the free trial and how to cancel if it does not work for you. Would give 0 stars if I could!
No good
by Als90210 on 2020/10/09 20:54
I was excited to see that homer had added new features so I decided to give it a try and it didn’t work from the beginning. my child couldn’t even open the app it just stayed on the loading screens I’ve tried to download a few times. If we can’t even open the app I can only imagine what it’s like once it finally does load. My guess is that this app isn’t compatible for an amazon fire tablet for kids. I’ll keep to abc mouse for now.

New update messed up the app
by Jofy2011 on 2020/10/06 19:25
My son is learning how to read with this app and I like the app. But ever since they updated, the app is acting weird. The voice of the cat sounds distorted and we cannot hear the story he read and recorded after he’s done (like before the update) . I would like to be able to see my son’s progress as well. Please fix that so we can continue with the subscription otherwise we’ll have to find a different app.
Good app!
by CR 316 on 2020/10/06 12:29
We have been using homer for almost a year now and I can say my son has absolutely been learning to read because of it. I love how easy it is to use and how clear the directions are, without a lot of distracting pictures or sounds like others learning apps that are difficult to follow for an early reader. I am thankful for the update as my son was getting bored with the same pictures, etc. My only couple of critiques with new update is that the little reader books on the learning pathway seemed to be timed after you tap the record button, so the recorded voice starts to play back before my son has finished reading the sentence. Prior to update you could tap record and drag your finger to follow the words until the end of the sentence (at your own pace). In addition, the new letter tracing lesson doesn’t offer any directions, which is different in the new update. Sometimes the lessons can be a bit repetitive and my son gets frustrated/bored, but we try to move through those ones faster so I can keep him interested. All in all it’s a good app we will continue using. He would not know what he knows now if we had not began using this app, so for that I am grateful!

Ridiculous
by Wanderlust_Thoughts on 2020/09/30 03:03
I have a 10 year old as well as a 3 year old and a 5 month old. When Homer first came out, I sent over 100 dollars for my now 10 year old to use. Back then, you had to pay in app to unlock objects. There was no subscription. I guess now that has changed to where I cannot even access what I purchased back then. That is a lot of money down the drain and now I have to pay a subscription to have access that I, more than likely, already paid for. Furthermore, back then, it had a more engaging screen with a merry-go-round and other stuff. Now it has pretty much nothing. This is ridiculous! I wished I knew then what I know now... I would have never paid money for this app!
App is glitchy
by Akco2k on 2020/09/25 03:52
Overall the app content is engaging for my toddlers but the app is incredibly glitchy. I’ve kept up to date with updates but most times I can’t even get the app the open.
Daughter Requests
by KellyOttinger on 2020/09/23 19:35
My formerly YouTube obsessed 3yo gets very limited screen time each day and now specifically requests Homer during her free choice time (in addition to the 10-15 minutes that we do of Homer together each morning). I am so impressed.
App never worked
by Lizardlog on 2020/09/23 18:07
I purchased this subscription last year and it worked for a few months until my son got into the further levels. We purchased other reading apps for him that were GREAT and never had any issues with. I completely forgot about it the Homer app until now. Wish I would have canceled and stop paying sooner. Total waste of money!
Upset mama...Upset child
by Queentea92 on 2020/09/23 12:42
I decided to pay for the yearly subscription, but now that I have done that, the app logged my daughter out and now won’t let her do any learning activities..Also, when I tried to get in contact with support, it says I don’t have an email registered to my apple account even though I do! I need to talk to someone asap! My daughters 30 day trial won’t even work!
Won’t let me create account
by MesJane on 2020/09/20 02:43
Subscribed and signed up to pay after free trial. Nothing else happens just keeps cycling through subscribing. Really disappointed seems like a cool game
Not bad
by Preschool Prep Mom on 2020/09/19 13:46
My 2 year old is behind on his development and I am doing a “Preschool Prep” course with him this year. This app along with speech therapy helps him learn his basic shapes and colors as well as basic life words. He’s even learning his letters! My only concern now is that when he clicks on an activity, it won’t load. It has put his progress to a halt and now he’s losing interest. Our WiFi connection is running at high speeds, so we ruled that out. I hope it gets fixed to where he can play again in the next update.
Non existent customer service
by JedidiahEsther on 2020/09/17 23:09
As much as I and my daughter love this app, it has really helped her in her reading journey but it has gotten so frustrating in the last one week to the point that she now dreads using the app because it crashes and keeps taking her back to the courses she has done. It hangs and won’t go on and there is nobody to talk to. I have sent emails 3 times with no response. I have reached out to them once on their Facebook and twice on Twitter still no response. I’m in my trial period and would have been super glad to continue but with such terrible customer service I think I will need to look elsewhere. Such a shame it didn’t work out fine
Great for my son who’s just learning English as an 8 year old
by klr125 on 2020/09/16 15:54
My son is new to the US, his first language is Mandarin. This app has been amazing for him! I’m a kindergarten teacher, and I’m very finicky about the resources we use for teaching these fundamental concepts. I really love the phonics, the word segmenting, the beginning reading practice, and the sight words. He is building confidence he is really enjoying it. Thank you!
I LOVE Homer but...
by Breeze of Carmel on 2020/09/11 22:59
The app freezes every time we finish a lesson on the path. We’ve tested this on multiple phones and we’re forced to close out the entire app and reload it. Again, I love the concept and curriculum but it is a bit inconvenient to have to keep closing it. Developers, please help!! Thanks for all you do!
Horrible Parent Dashboard
by SgtGorman on 2020/09/10 20:58
I could not load the Parent Dashboard. My son create all kind of accounts, which I want to control it. I could not get back to my dashboard. Wasting $45/years.
I subscribed today where is my access
by YoYo14587 on 2020/09/10 11:57
If I’m supposed to have a free trial why it keeps taking me back to plan subscriptions?
My son loves the app, but so many bugs!
by jessart12 on 2020/09/09 19:39
My son loves the app and has definitely learned a lot. However, there are so many bugs! It often freezes and I need to restart the app. Also he’ll do a bunch of work, get through multiple levels and then the app will glitch and it goes back a few levels or even the beginning. This has happened three times. I love the app, but I wish they could fix these issues. Also, customer service is very slow to respond.

Hello this is Isabels mum and she is in 2 grade and her friend Lizzie has to help her alll the time so I was spending time with her daughter she said Homer is sooo much fun so I called Isabel and she said what is that? And I said homer. And Isabel said can I have it? And I said fine because it was a learning app so I got it and she played and played and now she knows HOW TO READ!
Fraud - unable to cancel
by TC4791 on 2020/09/02 19:07
Unlike the terms that state you can send an email to cancel, you get a response saying you have to go through a “cancellation process” that doesn’t work.
I paid for a year subscription, my money was taken and I can’t get in, no one will return my email.
by kimmy314 on 2020/09/02 17:41
I can’t use the app I paid a year subscription for. I notified via your website the contact us email and still have heard nothing. I want my money back. I have nothing to use for my purchase.
Son loves it but App keeps freezing
by Mrsjaeq on 2020/09/02 15:06
The app seems to be great my toddler enjoys using it but the frustration comes every time after he completes one lesson- the app freezes constantly and I have to close it out and reopen it.

I downloaded the app signed up for the subscription is not working. I don’t understand why it doesn’t load up. Now I feel like in a month time I’m going to be robbed. Is this app legit or is it fake? I’m not getting anything when I tried to load it.

I am a subscriber. one day it started stop working. So I reinstalled the app, but the app requires another subscription since then. While I am doing already. My daughter loves this application so I’d like to make this right again. Maybe I put wrong email address after I reinstalled the app. Please tell me how can I remove the wrong address that already registered in the app.
Thank you!

I’ve been trying to teach my 3 year old her letterings and it’s been hard for her to retain the information. I came across this app and decided to give it a shot using the free trial. I’m so glad I did! It’s been 2 weeks since she’s been using the app to learn her letters and sounds and I’m amazed at how well she’s able to retain her learning. She’s learned Aa, Tt, Pp, Mm, and currently on Nn so far. Can’t wait to see how far she’ll learn with this app.

I enjoy this app but after I started paying for it the app will not go past The Who’s playing part . It just loads and loads never goes to the actual path to play . Not sure why but I might uninstall . Super disappointed.
Like it so far!
by WinterRepublic on 2020/08/15 16:16
Usually it’s very hard to keep my son’s attention but he loves this app. He is non-verbal but he’s learning and you can really tell! I took away a star because I have an account and it was originally created on my phone, but when I opened it on my tablet, it didn’t take me to sign in, instead, it kept prompting me to subscribe again. There was no way to back out the screen and even closing the app did nothing to reset it. I’ve even tried uninstalling but it still brings me to the same page. I had to delete it and wait a few days before redownloading and it took me to the login homepage.
Did Homer changed?
by DAYGUT on 2020/08/13 01:25
I used Homer to teach but it seems that everything changed.. is there a way to go back to the old version? Honestly I liked it better before
Good app!
by CR 316 on 2020/10/06 12:29
We have been using homer for almost a year now and I can say my son has absolutely been learning to read because of it.
What’s more than 5 stars
by MoNkEyGuRLmOnA on 2019/08/06 03:50
So I read the reviews and I was won over instantly. I downloaded the game and signed up to pay $8 a month to have my son play it after the free trial. Now my son is super hyper and I never let him have screen time but he’s behind in talking and knowing what he needs to know. So I let my son play this game and at first I’m like is he just coloring but they make it fun with puzzles ,coloring, identify the coloring game with ice cream lava for the kids and at first he skipped them reading the abcs now he stands up and dance and sing the abc in his special talk he does and you can hear him pronounce them better. He loves that he can color with the sticker of the hot dog and burger. If I was to make a suggestion that thing that just have the letters go by and it has what the letter start with as it goes by then it sings the abcs at the end make it into a game because my son was trying to touch the letters and identify them as they go by so maybe like a hide and find with other things not like the game with the balloons but like have a farm background with other things and have them identify the letters as they go by and have it go by fast and see how much they can get as it go by I think that would be fun. Thank you so much for helping my son learn in a fun way I have literally told everybody I talk to with kids about this app.
Love it so far
by 2Kittens love me on 2018/03/16 23:24
My older daughter is dyslexic and her teacher noticed that she was struggling to have confidence with reading. Came across this on Pinterest one day and decided to try it. We have only been using the free trial for a few weeks and we love it!! My younger daughter is addicted to it right now. She is using the preschool pathway and loves everything. My older daughter is on the growing reader pathway and is gaining confidence, even if she is sometimes bored (it’s geared more towards younger children and she’s 8). I run a very small prekindergarten for about 6 of my friends kids. Our neighbor is incredibly bright for her age (newly 5 and can read chapter books) so I made her and her little brother profiles. However, it has her on the pre-k pathway and she says that it is really easy. Her brother is only 2 and is on the same pathway as my youngest(3). I remember that when I made my first profile, I gave me the option to chose another profile for my older daughter but I can’t do that now. Is their anyway that I can chose the pathway I think they should be on? Overall, this is a really lovely app for any child who wants to have an educational boost. Totally recommend!!!!
MUST HAVE!
by michellenaranjo24 on 2019/07/18 19:28
I’ve had this the HOMER app for quite sometime I must say my toddler & I love this app! First off to start it has a bunch of different activities to complete from tracing letters of the alphabet to songs & rhymes. It amazes me how much my daughter learns from this app. The best part of HOMER is the section of art, where your child can create their story! My daughter goes all out she has so much fun putting “sticker like figures” on empty background // picture created for her to decorate. I have a subscription with them it’s about 8.99$ but it’s totally worth it if you think about it. The HOMER app also includes the app Stories, when you have the subscription which is nice like getting 2 for a price of one. The stories is really nice. Only thing is I wish they’d put more. They do have quite a few though so it’s fine for now. The customer service is absolutely wonderful, if needed any help they get back to you & are very friendly. I would love to see more games! More activities to do for sure. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future of HOMER. I definitely recommend especially if you have a toddler!!
Games take up too much time
by Fandango85 on 2019/08/16 13:50
I've been trying to sit down with my child to do these together but as soon as the "tell the story" activity comes up she spends all her time doing that. I understand the value of using pictures to guide her imagination and that story telling is a skill she should learn but she's not telling the story, she's just treating it like stickers and it's very distracting and time consuming. The drawing game too. If it would come up less often them it could be more of a reward for completing a module. As it stands this is just a waste of our time and I'm going to invest in other reading apps. Maybe if there was a time limit to these it would be better. Or give us some way to disable them. Also it bothers me that the instruction is so rigid about how to draw the letters. Maybe this is important for some reason unknown to me but I think there are multiple ways to draw letters and it is frustrating that she can't do it the way she knows how.
Great game but some glitches
by Nyuu42 on 2020/01/18 22:06
I love this game. My 2,3 and even 5 year old LOVE it and are very engaged. For $8 a month is nothing. I lose that much in a couch a month or drop for quarters in random toy machines they play with for 5 seconds. This app keeps them engaged and happy, laughing at the funny videos and bragging about new skills. My 3 year old has had amazing reviews from her teacher in the last 3 days I’ve had this with her reading and letter comprehension. She has only been doing it for 3 days and she is ahead of the class when she was the one slacking. The games and jokes and fun tricks them into learning!! Sounds crazy but it’s great. MY ONLY COMPLAINT is the sticker games. They will do stickers for days if I don’t go to the next activity. BUT with any educational game, it’s something for parent AND child not just a tablet tutor. You have to do it with your child for the best benefit. Sometimes the games won’t go to the next level so we have to redo the entire area but it’s honestly not a big deal because they’re still having fun.
Awesome reading app... my 4 yr old is reading
by ViviSs893 on 2020/04/16 20:56
Downloaded the app mid January and began doing a lesson (level) every other day with my 4 yo son. He already knew his letters and phonics but was having difficulty putting sounds with multiple letters together. As we started to go through levels I really noticed improvement and by end of March he was able to read simple sentences with the words in each level. Each level has a story at the end for reading practice and after a month and a half he is reading them on his own. We also practice reading books with simple sentences and he can read most of the words. He does need some additional practice for reinforcement outside the app so we practice the words that confuse him. Overall, I would totally recommend this for preschoolers and kindergarten age children. Note the app needs to be utilized regularly as repetition is the key for learning in this app. Having your child do one level a week will probably not be the most helpful.
Very engaging resource!
by benbethandbeyond on 2019/01/20 23:56
My son whines about EVERYTHING he finds even slightly boring or uninteresting. He is struggling to start to read. I think he may even have a learning disability and most things I try with him make him whine 🙄 I saw an ad for this app and thought it was worth a try since it had a free trial. In two days I knew I found a winner. He looks forward to using the Homer app and finds it very engaging. He loves his “monkey teacher” and the stories and games! He gets excited when he levels up and can see his progress. It was easy to decide to continue with the program after the trial was over. This past week he started identifying small words in texts while we read together and he also started to spell small words to me by sounding them out. I added my 3yr old and she loves it too! She has speech problems and recently started speech therapy. This is the perfect additional resource to help me get her ready for pre-school and kindergarten. Thank you!
Love it but..
by ColleenT12 on 2019/04/26 15:30
My 4.5 year old and 2.5 year old have been playing this nonstop since we downloaded it! We are still in the trail period of it BUT, it seems a little glitchy? My daughter will do the pathway and then suddenly just won’t her move on after completing something. Even if I do it after she does to see if she missed something, it won’t move forward. So if we close the whole app it’ll “fix” but it won’t be the same pathway anymore. I’m not sure what’s going on, this seems to be our only issue with the app. Otherwise we are LOVING this app. I love how it really wants them to get involved in repeating what the app has said. I love that they can’t just skip ahead to earn “tickets or a reward” and not actually completing the video or little game, or whatever the app may be asking for them to do. They’ve seriously been addicted to this app, and that makes for one happy mama, to know they love an app this much and it’s teaching them so much too! 😍😍
Homer is the greatest app ever
by Nover1 on 2019/02/06 07:44
My daughter is 2 going on 3, and she has been playing Homer since she had just turned 2. Watching her write her ABCs and learn sounds and words makes me feel so proud. I’m so amazed by the progress she has made, I have to give some credit to Homer! The best thing is she’s learning while having fun, which to me is the best way to learn. We started with the free trial and by the end of the first day I knew I was going to purchase the app. I even have fun playing with her! I love how she can grow with the game with the ‘Pathway’ as she gets older. The other amazing thing is Homer customer service. I was having issues with the app so I emailed Homer and they told me all I had to do was update to the newer version (the issue was totally on my end.) Customer service responded so quickly and were very friendly. I recommend Homer to anyone with a child age 2-8!
Pretty good would recommend
by Griffgriff27 on 2017/12/29 02:57
I’ve only used the free trial so far. Good: It is great supplement for teaching your child along with other learning lessons you teach them do not use this solely alone. It does teach a lot in one app and seems it lives up to its advertisement. My son really enjoys it. I like the engagement of getting to respond to what you’ve learned as well as questions at the end of the lessons. Love the idea of a “pathway” that is personalized for each child to what their likes are although I couldn't pick all of the likes in the beginning had only a certain amount but overall it is a very smart app and my son seems to really like it, he asks to play it and is learning some from it so I think I will buy maybe a month to month and see how it goes from there. Not so good: It does freeze up sometimes and when my son went back to record his voice of what he wanted to say again about the lesson it wouldn’t allow him to so you have to only do it when you compete it and are still on that page, doesn’t seem you can go back and record. I don’t like that the stories don’t exactly match or complaint the lesson taught and overall just wish there was more to it. Also, it seems to specialize in reading but for the price I would like it to also be all basic subjects. Overall: Pretty good, is simple learning. Has engaging, fun characters that seem to make the pathway exciting but wish there was more to it (subjects). :)
Kindergarteners expected to read
by AsianSoul2468 on 2017/11/25 18:01
Tried it because kindergarteners are expected to read. BEST PURCHASE EVER! Games and stories are short and keep interest. Content changes as my daughter continues along her pathway. She's already starting to recognize letters, even trying to name them. She saw a capital F and called it an E, but that's an amazing start! She loves making silly letter creatures and fairy stories with stickers. She can record her voice at the end of some of the stories, and the really great thing about that is that I can access all of her sticker pictures, voice recordings and such. Speaking of stories, there is a wide variety, including informational text, fantasy, science fiction, etc. and she gets to choose between three different stories each time. For as cheap as it is every month and how much my daughter is learning, this is the best purchase I've ever made!
Finally something that keeps his attention
by Loveformod on 2019/03/13 02:44
We homeschool and my son (just turned 6) is so dang brilliant! Sometimes however, certain things do not hold his interest. Reading is one of those things. We’ve tried different curriculum, workbooks, other apps, flash cards, reading books, you tube videos... nothing held his attention (and other apps left him wandering around the page without actually working on the educational part of it). HOMER is the only app that has held his attention. It’s also the only app that is MAKING A DIFFERENCE! He actually enjoys learning how to read when it used to be the last thing on his mind. I’m so happy I’ve discovered homer for him. And get this! His 3 year old sister is also using the app and loving it. I am so happy to have this tool to use as an aid in their education!
The app is ok
by Halfwaytomygoal! on 2019/07/01 04:09
I’m a lab elementary teacher and I was looking for some apps that would help get my own children off on the right foot for reading! They did enjoy the app, however my daughter became bored quickly with the sight words part of the game. They enjoyed the different songs, books, etc., however they have to download all of them. This obviously became a problem with each item. They also claim to be able to track your child’s progress. This isn’t accurate. You can see what your child sees in the app. No progress, no data, etc. I emailed to company a while back about this and didn’t receive a response. My kids enjoyed it, however didn’t learn very much. Looking for a new app...
Charging for education
by concha tu mare on 2020/03/23 16:01
I understand that this an application and the developers would like to get what they put in, but how sick is it that you will charge for education instead of investing in someone’s life free of charge just to have the satisfaction that someone learned through your work. I’ve been a teacher for a very long time for young learners. I still don’t like the idea that if I download a GAME it’s all free..I download EDUCATION oh, I have to pay. I don’t live in the states, I don’t make dollars, and I sure as HELL don’t think ANY parent should pay to teach their kid their ABCs. Here’s the thing, I’m not paying for an app that just tells me it’s great. You have subjected education to only those with affordable incomes that can benefit you. Even though I can’t be one of those parents for my kid, my kid deserves educational apps as well. And IM SO SICK of seeing that every child educational application has a fee. IM DONE with the greed of the world that they only see MONEY! I hope you rot with your app money.
Extremely frustrating
by Gold iPhone ;) on 2019/02/06 20:19
Learning to read can be a very emotional task. This app unfortunately does not help. I really wanted to like this app but after watching my daughter in tears for the 4th time because the app didn’t save her accomplished levels and dropped her back 2 levels, I realized it wasn’t worth the frustration. The app is very exciting when it works. Great celebration and sense of accomplishment but when that accomplishment is essentially taken away, that’s too much for a beginner to handle. Also, the app does not track progress between different devices. So if my daughter primarily works on her iPad and then maybe wants to use my phone, her progress will not display. To be fair, this is something they know and have admitted in there FAQ. All in all, there are many apps out there, find the one that will make the wonderful world of reading fun and not frustrating. One more thing, don’t bother contacting customer service, you will get no where fast.
Beware
by teachforsummer on 2018/09/05 00:14
Literally the first review I have ever written on any APP. I started a limited time offer more then a year ago, Homer offered a special price for summer months. It was great for my kids who were in preschool. When my 3 months were up so was my access to the full APP. That is what I expected. Guess What?! Auto payment wasn’t! I have been autopaying for this Homer APP that didn’t even allow me access to the full APP for over a year! Wish I could share photos (I took screenshots) on here to show you how confusing and ridiculous the cancellation process was. To cancel this membership you have to go through a complicated process to complete you cancelation. One of the last pages of cancellation I was give a choice of to give feedback about the reason for canceling. Then clicking one of two buttons. One: Keep My Membership. And two, guess what it was?! Two: Keep My Membership. I am so disappointed by they way this company chooses to treat its customers.
Love it usually
by k.cgoley on 2019/12/12 20:03
Great app both my kids use and love it and I have seen an improvement in their knowledge. With that being said, for the past three months, the app has had issues with loading and saving progress. I have been in touch with the support team over this issue and they told me to uninstall and reinstall the app. If problem still presists then to log out and log back it. I have done these things multiple times and both kids have lost all of their progress. I love the app but it is not glitchy and I don't feel the need to pay for it when it isn't working properly. They can't learn from the same two levels over and over. Another minor complaint is that it is not cross-compatible among devices. My iPhone and iPad have different levels for the kids even though the account it the same.
Learning done right.
by Canoodle1234567 on 2019/09/20 02:16
My son is not interested in learning letters/reading. This has engaged him with fun simple learning games that are mixed with creative games in just the right amount. He loves them. Also, the way it’s set up forces him to do the things he’s not as interested in to do the games/activities in the next level he is interested in. He went from refusing to attempt drawing letters to being excited he accomplished one on his own in about a (of playing every other day) week. Much better than other learning apps because it’s not too busy and keeps kids on a path that they are forced to learn on. I’m thankful for it. I had to force him to play mouse but he asks to play this!
Won’t let me in!
by GIGI10164 on 2020/05/24 02:09
I’m not sure what to rate this app so I rated it three for now. I subscribed the 8$ a month to see what it was like, and after the transaction was complete it did nothing. No next button or arrow. I thought something must of gone wrong so I went back and pressed continue. It lead me to the subscription page again. I tried to subscribe again, but it said I had already, and that I could manage it. I tried pressing the manage button but when I did, it just said I could cancel or change it to the annual subscription. I kept trying different things. I’m not sure if I’m just missing something obvious, or there is a bug. If the developers can fix this, or point out the obvious, that would mean a lot. Anyway, I will write another review when (hopefully) I get into the app for my little sis.
App no longer working!
by Hhbb113 on 2019/11/23 10:08
We love homer! My daughter loves going on her iPad and doing her « schoolwork ». She uses it typically daily as a form of her homeschooling and gets a set amount of screen time just for homer. Until about a week or so ago and still to this day! The app no longer works on any device. We have reset multiple different devices, removed and re-downloaded the app on different devices and NOTHING works. The app just sits in a « loading » screen before you even get to choose what child is playing. It doesn’t load EVER no matter how long we let it sit. It isn’t our internet because everything else works just fine! I am very disappointed by this and hope it gets fixed soon because my daughter has not been happy without her homer, and on top of it- I am paying for something that cannot even be used right now!
Give the parent and child what they want!
by Creatuvehands on 2019/08/29 13:19
I appreciate that this program offered a 1 month free trial. I had been interested but afraid to try. Now I see Homer is absolutely worth the monthly rate. My son loves electronics, of course. And I always try to limit them for all the behavior and health reasons pediatricians warm us about. This app lets my son play electronic games while building his kindergarten reading skills! I love that when setting up, the app prompts some questions to ascertain where your child should start, so that the games are not too advanced nor too basic for where they are! This app has given us both something we want and we both enjoy it!
Updated: Subscribed but not able to access
by BBSA2020 on 2020/07/26 15:32
We downloaded the app and registered our cc details for monthly deductions but we were not able to access the app. UPDATE: we were contacted by customer support who found a glitch, fixed it and then were kind enough to extend our free trial since we had lost some time. We have been using the app for two weeks. It was worth the effort. The pace of some of the exercises is quicker than in other apps so keeps our daughter engaged. She loves the games and voice recordings. This app works for us and I would recommend it. In addition, customer support was great.
It’s hard to cancel membership. Beware
by notfumny on 2019/10/26 17:42
I got the app and didn’t read the fine lines. For some reason I had difficulty creating an account. But kept giving me an error message. Yet I have been billed the whole time that I have not been able to use the app. From what I can figure, perhaps O cannot create an account because I am not the child’s parent. (I am grandma). I want to cancel but had to really look for how to do it in the fine print. First step is you have to email the support staff, which I just did. Now I’ll see what mess I have to go through to cancel. I am not very computer literate so this has not been a pleasant experience for me. I wish there was a simple cancel button to tap to cancel this membership. I guess the more complex the company can make it to cancel, the fewer people cancel and they can keep billing them. I am not pleased with this app at all.
Excellent cumulative reading program
by CartersLove on 2018/01/27 17:40
This is an excellent app that actually builds reading and spelling skills. It builds upon itself instead of just random words, it takes the child through each letter sound and blend. Then the child gets a large assortment of first readers (stories) with the new words they are learning and they can record their own voice reading the story. My daughter learned very quickly and enjoyed the app- she asked to use it on a regular basis. I love that I am able to keep the recordings of her reading and that she has actually learned to read. This is an excellent curriculum and app- my child and I both recommend!
A Creative and Innovative Experience my child loves!
by mrmojorisin19 on 2019/04/23 21:54
I downloaded and subscribed to Homer with the hopes of getting my child interested in learning and reading at an early age and I couldn’t be happier with the result! With Homer, my son (age 4) has his interests and passions turned into personalized lessons and levels that he absolutely adores. He loves following along with his favorite characters and is showing more enthusiasm for learning every time we open the app each night. Even his teacher has noted to me him becoming more engaged with his schoolwork! Love the experience so far and would recommend to anyone who wants to show their children the magic of learning.
GREAT App!!
by LynZ H on 2018/05/23 17:25
Homer is by far my favorite educational app for my son right now. He is just about 2 and he already knows all of his uppercase and lowercase letters, plus his colors and numbers 1-12. I started looking for some educational apps because I wasn't sure what to help him learn next and we have tried several different apps but most of them are not user friendly for such young children. Homer is great and my son has no problems navigating it on his own! He loves it and is so obsessed and begs me to "pway game" "Ohmer!" I would definately reccomend this for little learners! After using it for a little over a month he now knows most of the sounds the letters make!
I just wasted $79
by NC2018 on 2018/03/17 03:04
When we did the trial a while back, there was a learn to read mode that really helped my child. A couple months later I purchased a year subscription thinking that would still be there. It was there for a day or so, until what I assumed was an app update that now is completely different and useless. Now my child is bored picking out the color blue and other stuff way below her learning level. And no more reading aside for having stories read to her. She is bored now and wants to know where the words went. Now I appear to be stuck with a year of this ridiculously useless app as it looks like they don’t issue refunds. Has I known the updates would be this bad (and not including activities advertised in the app screenshots that are shared), I would have paid a year upfront.
Doesn’t work regularly
by Melissa Hilts on 2019/03/27 16:38
when I can get it to actually function this is my favorite app. I have 3 1/2-year-old twins and it’s great. However we have been paying for a subscription for six months and if I can figure out how to get to the App Store I’m going to cancel it. When I open up the app to try and set it up for my kids and I go to their path way more than 50% of the time I am on able to get it to load. We have 4G service and solid Wi-Fi in our home. All of the other educational apps work fine. It seems like it would be my problem but we are having the same issue on our other iPad and with none of our other apps so I have to assume it’s Homer. I came here today to see if I needed to download a different version or update it to see if maybe that was the problem
Great game but quits unexpectedly
by lives with her mom on 2019/03/15 13:17
My daughter doesn’t say a lot of words yet but has surprised me by how much she knows when I watch her use this app. She will be going to speech therapy to help with her development, but I have really enjoyed this app that gives her the right questions for her age and abilities that she can actually answer. I think it makes her feel good about herself being able to answer questions frustration free! BUT since the new update the game crashes! She is now stuck on her pathway and cannot go any further. You can’t skip over any games on the pathway so we are just stuck. This game is worth 5 stars but with the disappointing crashing I can’t give it more than 3. It really is a great app. I hope this issue gets fixed.
I had no idea my son was this close to reading!
by mamaBabr on 2019/06/21 07:51
My kid is only 3.5 and we read to him every night but I never really pushed him to sound things out or write on his own. Then he started playing around on this app and he’s SO INTO IT! He is really starting to recognize “sight words” and tries spelling and sounding out words in our nighttime stories. The letters he’s tracing on the screen look awesome. The breaks he gets to draw and play along his “pathway” give him the break that keeps us BOTH more comfortable with this early learning. He’s having fun and I can see progress, this is screen time I honestly don’t feel any mom guilt about.
Super high quality education
by Guud Karma on 2019/03/12 19:33
I almost never write reviews, but I have tried so many pre-k education apps and non of them are even come close to Homer. Most apps are just games that have some mild educational connection such as jumping over letter of the alphabet. Homer actually teaches. It makes my kids think and challenges them to learn one step at a time. My 2 year old and 5 year old both use it multiple times a week and they love it. My 5 year old has dramatically improved at reading over the last 6 months and it is mostly due to this app. I’m a customer for life, no doubt. Thank you thank you Homer!
Background music is very annoying
by MamaMashaB67 on 2020/01/24 16:43
For the price this is the worst app that we ever tried. It was hard to figure out how to use it, it would not download to our iPad, it crashed several times, it is not intuitive at all. After several attempts we were able to download it to our iPad. The background music is just awful, very Annoying. My son asked for this app, but I just cannot stand the background music. I don't know how kids can learn anything using this app. Just use Starfall, it is much cheaper and 100 times better. I was subscribed to this Homer app the whole hour and hated it to a point of having PTSD. There no way to get an immediate help, just send an e mail and hope that someone will reply in 24-48 hours. There are better options out there. Now I need to keep an eye and not being charged for the free trial.
Seems good but doesnt work
by Mrs fukballzski on 2018/07/24 20:08
I liked it at first. But second day in and it is downloading something everytime i open it. And clicking the pathway made it do more downloading. My daughter played for five minute and got to a spot on the pathway with three videos i think. She clicked to download them and then it shows loading and then nothing. Click again and shows loading then nothing. Closed app and tried again and now its stuck on whatever it thinks it needs to download again for pathway. Thankfulky we are on wifi right now but usually we are on hotspot data thats limited and this activity would not be ok. Besides the app is now useless. It looked great other than that and my daughter loved it until it stopped. Wont be renewing after 30 days.
Bugs with freezing and losing progress
by Ohmissallie on 2020/05/04 13:13
Early every other time my son uses this app it will freeze and when we restart it, we’ve lost a lot of his progress. (Once he went from being on Letter W to letter G!! He is so disheartened every time it happens. It’s probably happened to him half a dozen times now. I’m writing after he just lost a whole morning’s worth of progress. This app is successfully teaching him his letters. He loves it. The content is quality and I’ve been really satisfied with that. If these bugs can’t be fixed though, we’re going to have to cancel our subscription. He will continue to be less and less interested if he can’t keep moving forward.
Confidence and learning
by ccgyuj on 2019/10/26 01:33
Screen time has always something I’ve dreaded dealing with as my daughter got older but now at 2.5 she knows all her letters and is growing more confident and excited about learning and problem solving and I know that part of the success has been Homer reading! She begs to play her learning path and exclaims I’m good at this! And even when she gets frustrated she’s challenged to continue and learn and is so gratified when she succeeds. I love it and suggest it to everyone that asks! I’m always Leary of paid apps, especially for kids, but this has been fair more than worth it!
Love this app
by ajones2525 on 2018/10/02 20:52
My daughter is super engaged with this app and views it as playtime and a reward, which makes me feel great about letting her play it for a while. She has learned so much in a short period of time. It advances quickly enough to hold her interest but slow enough so she isn’t discouraged. The best part is she can do it all be herself. One suggestion for the developers is to make the font much bigger on the reading stories activities. It is so tiny on my iPhone that it’s even hard for me to read. I would also shorten the sentences so it isn’t as daunting for beginning readers.
So glad I found this app
by Brandon9999 on 2020/05/08 19:01
Unlike another popular and highly advertised preschool educational app, Homer engaged my son’s interest instantly. Instead of trying to stimulate my kid with loud noises, bright colors, and bouncing graphics, Homer keeps my kid interested by tailoring the lessons to his academic level, using themes he’s interested in for his age, and is perfectly balanced between being both simple and challenging. His confidence when using it is obvious, and the lessons are actually sticking because he practices what he learns outside of the app when playing and talking with my husband and I. We LOVE Homer!
What free trial?!
by TreNec17 on 2018/08/03 16:43
I downloaded the app for my three year old granddaughter and selected the free limited access. She went thru it in just a matter of ten minutes tops. After that to continue on the my pathway it kept shoving the sign up paying access in our face and would do nothing more. Even if I clicked on free downloads it did nothing other than want me to subscribe to their subscription. I probably would have if the developers wasn’t so demanding about subscribing because she really liked it. I just expected to get at least a little bit more out of it before I put my money in it. Ten minutes tops don’t peak my interest at all to want to put my money in this app. I will be uninstalling as I’m sure there’s better apps that’s focused less on your money but more on your child’s learning abilities.
Amazing App!
by Special Education Teacher 2019 on 2019/09/11 15:38
I work with a young child who is in a fifth grade self contained classroom. He has autism and is learning how to read sight words. The use of the sight word games on this app are especially helpful through the use of repetition and multimodal features. He is mastering eight words better than before thanks to Homer. He stays engaged and has a smile on his face while using the app. He is able to navigate the app and he loves the memory games!! HOMER is worth the money I’d recommend this for any teacher who works with students in a special education classroom or general education classroom. — MSEd.
So many glitches
by Jenn shao on 2019/04/19 05:02
I wanted to love this app. Luckily i tried the limited trial version before putting in my credit card info for the 30 day version with recurring payments. There are so many glitches and it is only our 3rd time (2nd day) trying it out. First it forgot where he was along the pathway. Then he kept playing the same thing and would not go to new activity. I restarted the app and it finally remembered where he was on the pathway, but it will NOT let him do the next activity (it was light up and had a play symbol). It was glitching and you can’t press play. It was very frustrating for me as an adult, even more frustrating for a 4 year old. Totally not worth $8/month if it glitches like this. I wasn’t even sure i wanted to pay $8/month for an app in the first place.
Dislike Pathways SO Much
by theriotstarterisonfire on 2017/12/31 18:50
Long time Homer user (almost 3 years, 2 kids). The new pathways are terrible. The Learn-To-Read was much better. Not worth the $75 a year. Still crashes a lot too. Cons of Pathways: - no autonomy on lessons - profiles aren’t phonetic/letter identification focused (ex: my youngest only gets stories read to him and gives him color choosing games - no letter combo mastery to start reading) - not goal oriented - no “mastered” letters or vowels (or mastered letter combos such as “pat”) -no clear learn to read area means my kids may have to search through the games to find letter tracing or letter identification - app becomes overall less reading-oriented due to above Before with Learn-To-Read: - easy consonant/vowel learning combos (ex: P, T, A, becomes early reading of tap/pat) - can go back to completed sections for review if needed - clear “end” after 26 lesson trees - had distinct areas for letter learning vs education games (such as color identification, etc) Just very disappointed. Loved and used to recommend this app to many parents. Now want my money back. Do not recommend unless they change the app back to previous structure which actually used to help my kids learn to read.

Homer is good at keeping kids occupied on an iPad, but is that the purpose?

by cc1388 on 2021/01/12 18:59
We only had this for a few days couldn’t stand the pace of the questions in the games.

Excellent
by Austyusa on 2020/12/07 04:24
We absolutely love HOMER! The no ads is the best feature!

Paid just for the hell of it
by punetaquenombrequieren on 2020/11/17 02:07
The app has yet been fixed.

False
by jksdfhkjasdhfka on 2020/10/17 19:46

Otherwise will likely stop paying for this soon since there are plenty of apps that will let her listen to songs for free.

by IrisBlue79 on 2020/10/13 01:24

Pls rectify!
by Ric Mom on 2020/10/10 23:00
We really loved homer until recently when they updated their app and it started crashing! My son is getting really upset because the app freezes randomly while using and we have to kill and restart the app. Please rectify it ASAP.
I’ll keep to abc mouse for now.

by Okataijesusfreak on 2020/10/09 07:43
Love this app and so does my daughter! She’s made so much progress. However, She was learning how to read when the new update happened and we can’t seem to figure out where she left off. Before the new update and she would click on the next level to stay in track. Now she’s just clicking everywhere.
I would love to verify this

Not bad
by Preschool Prep Mom on 2020/09/19 13:46
My 2 year old is behind on his development and I am doing a “Preschool Prep” course with him this year.
Thank you!

by Breeze of Carmel on 2020/09/11 22:59
The app freezes every time we finish a lesson on the path. We’ve tested this on multiple phones and we’re forced to close out the entire app and reload it.

Not working
by LoungeLiveLaughEnjoy on 2020/09/01 02:12
I downloaded the app signed up for the subscription is not working. I don’t understand why it doesn’t load up. Now I feel like in a month time I’m going to be robbed. Is this app legit or is it fake? I’m not getting anything when I tried to load it.
Keep charging $9.99 even not subscribe

This app is a scam, I had cancel subscription after downloading it coz my son is not interested in it, but the app keep charging me 9.99 per month!
Cannot access further
by kkdjrnduhno9 on 2020/08/26 03:33
I am a subscriber. one day it started stop working.

Doesn’t even open just loads

Poor

Forgot password and there wasn’t anything to link to for recovery or reset. Your basically going in circles trying to log on. Forget it. Use ABC mouse instead. Canceled my subscription.
It’s really fun for my daughter Olivia she is only 7 years old

Enjoy but...
by cblevinsfisher on 2020/08/15 20:08
I enjoy this app but after I started paying for it the app will not go past The Who’s playing part .

— MSEd.
