Description
racejoy is created specifically for running, cycling and triathlon events with a focus on the participant and spectator experience. Features vary by event and include live phone tracking, progress alerts, results, race information, photos, Send-a-Cheer and much more! There are two distinct experiences in racejoy: -Featured Events -Training Days Featured Events (shown with the Event Logo): These are events that have contracted with racejoy to provide a premium experience for participants and spectators. Features are free and provided by the event or sponsor(s). Features included: -Live GPS, phone tracking on the course map. -Send-a-Cheer! (fun motivational audio clips). -NearMe alerts (spectators and waiting relay teams get an alert when a participant is drawing near). -MeetUp tool for seeing where you are in relation to a participant. -Automatic Progress Postings to Twitter (with your approval, of course!). The following features may be provided by the event: -Scored Race Results within moments of crossing the finish line. -Essential race information like schedules, FAQs, race news, and more. -Your official race photos. -Optional Tracking with Progress Alerts: Some events offer BIBTAG tracking in addition to PhoneTrak. For these events there is no need to carry your phone as this is based on the participant’s BIB/chip as they cross over timing points on the course. Training Days This area enables athletes to have their friends and family track their progress live on a map and send motivational cheers during long training runs or rides. All PhoneTrak features are available in Training Days, along with special motivational cheers to help you through those tough moments. Training Days is a free always available area for your long training days. Based on our privacy policy you must setup a special tracking ID (PIN) with profile name and provide that to friends and family tracking you on your Training Days. Add a Race? If you would like a race to offer the full featured experience with official race progress alerts and results, please let the race director know about racejoy. Battery Usage racejoy’s live phone tracking feature is ONLY activated during the hours of the event. When using Training Days, the athlete turns on/off tracking as needed. Use of this GPS technology running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. You may disable this under settings at anytime during the event to conserve battery life if needed. Feedback and Support We hope you enjoy using racejoy! Please share your experience in the App store to encourage others to try it out. If you have had any issues, or have feedback or ideas, please help us to improve the experience by contacting us at support@racejoy.com. racejoy is created by a small family business and is dedicated to changing the race experience.
Best racing app

The inter race updates for runners and tracking for spectators is the best.

by music buyer98 on 2019/12/14 19:25
It was be great if you could crest a race joy account and save your races. That way you can just log in add your bib and run. Going through the entire set up is a pain. It would be nice to also see past races to compare times instead of having to screen shot them each time.
A bit difficult to use but nails it on race day
by courtpassant on 2019/11/30 16:44
The app is a little difficult to use but one race day arrived and I was tracking my husband it rocked. Great alerts. Great mapping of a runner. Fun sounds. Nice app if you can get past the interface. Needs some streamlining.

App lost my registration on race day so had to register again in the corral and then tacking didn’t work.
Never worked
by Shopww on 2019/11/24 13:33
Instructions given were followed by our group of 4. Although the night before the race, it seemed to locate one of our riders, in our house, the day of the race it continued showing that rider in the house, and did not ever update. Terrible instructions and the app was a total failure. Deleting it!
Good app

Went to see my son’s marathon today. Both of us signed into RaceJoy. It showed him about 3-4 miles into the marathon and there it left him for the next four hours. Useless!!!
Great App
by Daliely on 2019/11/17 00:34
I’ve used this app before when I ran my first 5k last year and it was great. This year I ran my first half marathon and had my family track me and send cheers because they couldn’t attend. It was such a great way to feel like they were there with me. The app has been amazing for me so far.
Crashing every time I open it
by KAHatchell on 2019/11/13 00:23
I am currently getting ready for a race I have this coming Saturday which uses RaceJoy. I’ve used it before for a marathon and it worked great but I’ve downloaded it again for this weekend but I can’t do anything before the app crashes. It opens up to the home screen and then two seconds into anything else it just closes out on my phone.

Why can’t RaceJoy work with my cellular Apple Watch alone?
by Kjnews on 2019/10/20 11:04
I bought a cellular Apple Watch so I didn’t need to carry my phone to run. It’s hard to give an otherwise great app more than 3 stars when it forces me to carry my phone to be tracked.
LOVE THIS APP

Went from 100% to 20 in less than an hour for a marathon.
Tracking doesn’t work w/out phone
by Zbernhardts on 2019/10/13 14:43
This app is pretty worthless. First off, race participant tracking doesn’t work unless the runner is running with her phone, even if she has an RFID microchip. Secondly, race results don’t populate as participants cross the finish line—you’ve got to wait until the event organizers upload the results.
Good

One con...
by Lov3m387 on 2019/08/26 01:45
I used this app during Portland to Coast 2019 and a lot of areas had no service so the app would not work to track our team or our pace and that’s the only thing I did not like about it.
Does not work if you race through areas without cellular
by miche-la on 2019/08/25 15:28
Portland to Coast told all participants to use this app for timing the relay. However, the app did not work for any of us when we lost cell coverage—which was over a third of the course. It would not even open so that we could record our start times for each person on the relay. Then when we went back into cell range, it would not allow us to enter the later time. Completely useless. And another problem is that another team with a similar name kept trying to use our team and enter data. Kind of worthless app
Didn’t work without Cell Coverage
by malaurits on 2019/08/25 15:21
Just used this App for the Portland to Coast. There’s no cell service for the majority of the Race. The App wouldn’t work without Cell Service. It also wouldn’t allow us to pick up where we were once we got cell service back. Lastly, it kept switching our Info to another Team who had a similar name (after I had already set it up with the correct information).
There is no joy here
by Scra28 on 2019/08/25 00:54
The app is very complicated to use. The progress doesn’t match the actúa distances when there are more than a few legs is a relay. The cheers are not delivered consistently. You don’t know who is sending the cheer. It doesn’t give turn by turn directions. It only gives mike alerts as a whole and not specific for individual runners. It is very FRUSTRATING
Good app
by dylanland4 on 2019/07/14 18:29
The 3 star is for the not being able to use at the starting line. Too many people are using the app so it gets congested and doesn’t work. Other than that I enjoyed the mile by mile updates and ETA.
Needs work
by pce5238 on 2019/07/14 17:07
Just had 10 of us of various ages ranging from 21 to 54 trying to use the app. Not worth the effort of setting up. Buggy and confusing.
Sound
by letting go of LETGO on 2019/06/09 15:58
Couldn’t hear cheers thru the music
Disappointing
by Kejani5 on 2019/06/01 23:06
Was great when it worked. Glitchy interface, particularly in areas of intermittent cell service - through which an app such as this should be able to go offline and keep track through GPS or extrapolate race times/distances/paces. Our team of 12 finally gave up on it. Navigating the interface was not intuitive but would have been forgiven had it worked
Kind of useful, but complicated and burns battery
by shep647942 on 2019/05/29 10:30
I downloaded this for a marathon relay that I did. For the two weeks I had it on my phone, I thought I needed to get a battery replacement, even though I wasn’t leaving tracking turned on (but it’s hard to tell.) It’s also difficult to know how to navigate to the screen you are looking for. Setting up our relay team required following directions sent from the race promoter AND multiple rounds of trial and error. That said, tracking my teammates on the course worked when the teammate didn’t get confused trying to start the race leg in the app.
Data connection error
by MJ Dark Side on 2019/05/23 15:47
Our team signed up for the app last week and now everyone is seeing “data connection error. Check your cellular setting” error messages. Unable to use the app. We all verified cellular settings are correct. Was working just fine last week. :(
Terrible - audible ads mid race!
by Greg 84042 on 2019/05/18 23:57
The app itself is pretty good. It could be more intuitive but all in all it’s great for family and friends to track you during a race. The problem is the audible updates also gives you ads during the race!! Seriously RaceJoy?! What MBA thought that would be a good idea? Sure, you are ad supported and banners etc are what pay the bills. But this just makes an otherwise good app completely unusable. I would never use this app again.
Race joy app
by madmax1068 on 2019/05/18 17:38
Love this app. Especially here my family cheer me on
So hard to use
by -----//// on 2019/05/17 03:44
So difficult to navigate and I think the cheers are rudimentary at best. Maybe should just stick to teaching progress and let people send texts to cheer on 🤷‍♂️
Good tracking
by BrittanyAmber on 2019/05/11 16:29
I like that it gives you a predicated finish time at your current pace
Love it
by savetheturts on 2019/05/06 12:25
Love this app! I use it for my half marathons so my friends and family can track me. I love hearing the cheers my friends/family can send me through the app. I also enjoy being able to hear my pace and ETA after every mile. Overall this is a great app and makes the race more enjoyable!!
Awesome App

Was a great bike ride “race”. Did the 35 mile. Route was well marked and most of true roads were smooth. Only thing better would have been the weather! Cold, windy, and 50. Great volenteers.

I was moral support for my wife. This app allow us to follow her each step of the way as she ran a half marathon. It notified us as she ran and we were able to meet her at the finish line. Sidenote I’m so proud of my wife for completing her half marathon, first time.

Useless
by CRG551 on 2019/03/03 16:27
Requires runner to have phone active the whole time. Useless if they don’t carry their phone.
Terrible Design and Functionality
by AppleTimNC on 2019/01/27 16:27
Let’s start with the worst part - with my phone silenced in the middle of a church service, this awful app started playing this annoying cowbell and jingle bell sound for the runner I was tracking. Moving on from there, everything about this apps interface design is wrong. Poor button placement, fuzzy icons, the runner I was tracking disappeared, and nothing is intuitive. This app needs to be ripped apart and totally redesigned.
RaceJoy is great!
by mixtape freak on 2018/10/31 22:56
I used RaceJoy for the first time last Sunday at the Catholic Health Services Suffolk County Marathon and it was great! It notified me and my followers at every mile marker and gave average pace and estimated completion time. The best thing is the cheers feature. I was able to receive encouraging and funny messages from my followers during the race. They really cheered me up during the tough parts of the race! I recommend the use of RaceJoy at all distance races.
Works great!!
by Nemeth27 on 2018/10/31 20:09
Just ran my first marathon and it was great for my family to see where I was on the course. I like the cheers, but loved that they were waiting for me at the finish line!!
Good
by Alphamkb on 2018/10/31 15:04
I just ran my first 15k last weekend. I liked how it did keep up the distance and all. It was pretty close. The only problem I noticed with notifications is that there was a delay. I had my phone in my zipper belt and had Bluetooth ear buds and it would show up on my Apple Watch. But the cheer didn’t come through earbuds right away. So I had to pull phone out and look for the cheers. I had Lot more cheers then I actually heard through sound Of that can be fixed I would love to use it again with my Route66 marathon coming up Nov 18th.
Works good
by llduwnnzc$)($$&@ on 2018/10/31 14:17
I enjoyed the audible projected finish times.
Great Run/Walk App during a race
by Kenship on 2018/10/31 14:03
I love the feature that tells you the estimated time to finish. I also love the encouraging cheer tones! It knew exactly the point I crossed the finish line and stopped tracking. Although there were a couple small glitches with finish times all in all I was excited to use it!
Love It!!!
by nataliamr90 on 2018/10/31 13:27
I used RaceJoy for the first time in a 5k race and I loved it. It gave me my time break down each mile with an estimated finish time. Which allowed me to push myself and stay at my pace! I want to use it for every race now!
Easy to use...if you want to carry your phone
by Afuller_luvs_music on 2018/10/31 13:20
The app is very user-friendly for both racers and those cheering them on. Only downside is the racer must carry their phone or tracking is lost. I had an equipment problem on race day and ended up literally carrying my phone in my hand for a 15K so my ppl would know where I was on the course.
Easy to use, Fun to Watch!
by JR from Claremore on 2018/10/31 13:14
The app was easy to use as a runner and it was great that my family could monitor my progress. The near me function is great too so that you know when a runner is close to you as a participant or a spectator. Getting cheers during the race was encouraging too!
App needs work.
by scotthilt on 2018/10/30 12:48
We installed the app to watch some friends and family members run a marathon this past weekend. They did great, but said they didn’t get any of our cheers. Also the gps tracking was not live real-time like other apps we’ve used. Overall the UI is clunky and outdated. Looked like it was made for iOS 7. Not at all optimized for iOS 12 or newer iPhones. The overall concept is great, but lacks a solid execution. Please overhaul this app.
First time using app
by A .Sweat on 2018/10/23 10:14
I just used this in the Grand Rapids Marathon. This was my 22nd marathon and I loved the mile updates, but my favorite part was the cheers that were sent by my friends and family back home. Great motivator in the race.
Incredible experience with RaceJoy
by HartfordMarathon668 on 2018/10/22 14:57
I used RaceJoy for the first time while running the Hartford marathon a few weeks ago. The app was incredibly helpful for me and my spectators. It gave me accurate updates every mile with distance, time, split pace, and estimated finish time options—which I was not expecting and was very grateful for. My spectators relied on the tracking capabilities and could follow me on the race map perfectly. They got the same mile updates and could plan their day around my progress using the app. The app is also user friendly and was not a source of stress on race day, which was a huge bonus. I recommend this app to anyone and everyone. I am glad the marathon organizers suggested it!
Best Race Tracking Experience
by AElizabeth123 on 2018/10/16 16:40
I have tried many different ways to help my friends and family find me during the different races I’ve done and this app out performed every other method. It was really helpful to have a live map with the mile markers mapped on and actuate tracking. It got the people I needed to the places I needed them during a very challenging run!
Could be better
by allirunner on 2018/10/16 15:34
Love the tracking, love that anyone can follow and send audible cheers throughout the run, however don’t love that the person has to have the app to be tracked. May as well just sign up for basic race texts or use find my friends and skip the app. Not everyone carries their iPhone or has space for an additional app. I’m sure that if the app is sanctioned by the race, it can track the bib chip not the phone. The worst thing about the app is that you actually have to physically hit start when you begin running. A previous relay I was on, we all didn’t realize this until it was too late, so the app was basically useless. I don’t get why the gps that has to be constantly running, draining your battery, can’t just track your whereabouts on its own. In a world where we track our mileage on watches, and listen to music...do I really need ANOTHER thing to start when I begin my race?? No...better off using find my friends app or something you already have. The negatives outweigh the positives for me.

Just finished the Prairie Fire Half Marathon over the weekend. With RaceJoy, my husband easily and accurately was able to meet and cheer me on at various spots. Also, I like the announcement of time/distance/pace without having to physically look. Thank you

This was my first half marathon. I ran the Eversource Hartford half. My wife couldn’t make it with my young kids due to the weather. The app allowed her to follow me, cheer me and support me!!!!
Worked awesome!
by GVN71 on 2018/10/15 20:11
Ran the Hartford 1/2 Marathon and the app worked great for me and my family so they knew when I’d be coming into the finish line! Easy to use and set up! Would use it again in a heartbeat at future races!
Great app for marathon!
by Coolbubbaice on 2018/10/12 15:30
I ran the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon and downloaded the app for personal and family tracking. For me - it was great! Split times, end time prediction, mile-by-mile updates. For them - end of run prediction and current location worked perfectly! Hopefully this app is picked up by other marathons. Way better than the Chicago marathon tracking app I used 2 years ago.
Loved it!
by BECCA2470 on 2018/10/09 14:29
I used RaceJoy during the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon and LOVED it. It made keeping myself on pace easy and helped me have a great race. Not to mention my favorite feature, the cheers! Friends and family who couldn’t make it to the marathon could send their support through the app and their messages played automatically through my headphones. It was awesome!
My fans loved it! Harder for me to use it on Apple Watch
by Muske-Go on 2018/10/09 14:01
Just ran my first 26.2, Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon. Had just loaded the app on iPhone 7, which I carried in a waist mounted zippered pouch. Also had my Apple Watch series 2. My perspective: once I pushed the “start race” button, I stowed my phone. Muted all the audible updates. Notifications of each mile status was impossible to read. A lot of data for the small watch display, I had my prescription sunglasses with no bi-focals and I was running so I couldn’t keep the watch still enough to read. It also did not do split times, just overall average pace, I think, because I couldn’t read the display. I did notice some cheers come thru also. Again, couldn’t read much more than who they were from. Not sure if they were generic or custom, because I don’t know how or if I can go back and read cheers. Happy at the end that it tracked my overall finish time. Overall, app was not difficult to figure out and very importantly, did not crash. My fans’ perspective: they loved being able to see where I was, so they could get ahead to the next cheering location on the route. That made it worth loading a new app the day before a big run, and my first marathon! Overall, I would recommend app as is for sending your live location to spectators. Work on the notifications display for watch. Since I didn’t use it as my in-run tool, I can’t speak to its features for pace tracking.
Great Marathon tracking

I used RaceJoy at the Wineglass Marathon. It was ideal for keeping my husband updated on my progress so he could get to the finish in time, and I found out later that several other running friends were tracking me. So they knew my results as soon as I did! The cheers I received were a lot of fun, too, although I didn’t see most of them until afterward because I had turned off the audio splits (I didn’t want to stress too much over my pace). I was listening to music on iTunes, through Bluetooth headphones. It would be great if cheers could still get through the audio, even if splits are turned off.
Great app!

LOVE this app. Was very skeptical at first but the tracking was spot on and I especially enjoyed the frequent cheers my wife sent me. They were priceless and inspirational. Made a huge difference as did the split times each mile
So great!
by untrainedrunner on 2018/10/02 04:08
This app is awesome. It was so convenient to help find people during the race and have spectators find us so they could be there in time to see us cross the finish line. Also really fun to hear the cheers from people while you’re running. Those things took my mind off the fact that I was running a ridiculous distance in the cold rain.

Thank you for the opportunity to use RaceJoy for the Maine Marathon! It was my first half marathon and my husband was not able to go with me. ( We live 2 hours north of the race ). He was able to track my race, update my friends and family. The sent me messages of encouragement from home-it was WONDERFUL!!
1/2 marathon good experience
by CG-05 on 2018/10/01 22:21
I enjoyed the app not only for the accurate updates as I listened to music, but most of all for my family being able to cheer me on and send custom messages as I ran. Each time a different one would come in for my kids I would choke up. I ran this half marathon three states away from our home and it was nice to know they were still there virtually supporting me.

Nice for spectators
by 058474 on 2018/10/01 20:35
This app was nice for the spectators who came to watch so they didn’t have to stand at the finish line the entire time. I would give 5 stars if it had the ability to review the split times/paces for each mile as well as the average pace times and elevation.

Not helpful for the runner!!!
by theyjsi on 2018/10/01 19:15
While my spectators enjoyed it, the app was NOt good for me while running a hard marathon . Too many words on my watch screen to read while racing- I would much rather just see my mile splits from my GPS. And two screens to scroll through at each mile while racing? No way! It was a hindrance and irritation during my marathon. Also, Why not just activate From my chip? Who wants to be fumbling with their phone as They cross the start line?? Not me! And you really can’t figure out how it works before you race - I would have deactivated all texts to me if I had known

Used this at Capital City River Run. Was great to know my pace at every mile and my approximate finish time and my boyfriend tracked me to know when I would be getting close to the finish line so he could be there.
Great app

I used this for the FitOne 10K. This is the first time I’ve ever used an app like this while doing a race. It worked so well. I wished I’d known about it sooner. It was nice to hear the updates and the cheers.

I LOVE this app. Aside from the fact that anyone meeting is you at the finish line can track you , my favorite part is that it keeps me on pace. I wear wireless head phones and at every mile of the race it tells you what your pace is, what your time for that mile was and the time for the miles combined and your expected finish time. It would be so great if every race used race joy!
Love it!
by Heiderfam on 2018/09/24 14:58
I only used this app during my race but it was encouraging and so helpful. Loved hearing my pace and projected finish time. So fun to receive cheers and have my family at home be able to see how I was doing! I’ll definitely use this again!
Pretty good
by khandy0829 on 2018/09/24 14:55
Used during the MAC poker ride this is weekend. Love it! However, it will give you updates on your own status which I found distracting.
Not reliable
by OhioDad on 2018/09/19 01:15
Recently used this app for a relay run, the C2C relay from Columbus to Cincinnati. The navigation is clunky, the tracking is inaccurate, and the app continuously makes you sign up over and over. Google location would work much better.
No iwatch!!

This app was used for a local 10 mile race in my hometown. It was accurate, and it was neat to be able to see where my buddies were on the course.

This is a great app! My supporters were able to track me and cheer me on and I could track others on my group. It’s easy to use. I plan on utilizing it at future events too.

I used this app for the first time during the Hell of a Half marathon in Exeter, CA. It was such an awesome experience having my family in different states cheering me on as I ran the race. Definitely recommend all races to use this app for the runners to experience what I did.
Good
by Alphamkb on 2018/10/31 15:04
I just ran my first 15k last weekend.
Great way to keep supporters updated
by Trail hound on 2018/10/04 11:51
I used RaceJoy at the Wineglass Marathon.
Great App! I wish Every Race Had it!
by TrevorBeck32 on 2018/07/10 23:08
I just used this during the Boilermaker 15k. It was very nice to have the mile updates that were accurate and it’s nice to be able to check out after completing a race. I have to admit I only set it up while waiting for the race to start, so I didn’t play with it and familiarize myself enough to really use it to its full potential. Even still, it was great to have. I wish every race I participate in would have this. I will take the time to become more familiar with it now. I will have a look through it and if it lists future races that use it I will be trying to exclusively run in races that do use race joy.
Game changer
by Rob on the trails on 2018/08/02 14:58
I just used this app at Burning River 100. My crew found it indispensable throughout the event to see real time progress and know exactly where I was. The updates every mile kept me on goal and helped me deliver against my plan as it did the thinking for me on pace and estimated times. The cheers changed the game for me and really helped me through some tough moments. Friends and family watching from afar were ale to send me encouraging words to lift my spirits, jokes to make me laugh and funny riddles to get my mind off the pain! I hope every event I ever do again uses this app! Thank you immensely!
Great App!

I used this app for the Pittsburgh Marathon. It was my first time using it and I loved it! I appreciated the real-time updates for myself and the family and friends that were cheering me on. I didn’t even use the other apps I typically train with. I felt I got everything I needed right within Racejoy. My friends and family did mention that the app seemed to be less accurate as I approached the finish line from a GPS perspective. That’s my only “improvement opportunity”. Thanks! I hope more races start using the app!
Loved this app!!!!
by AcceptableCPup on 2017/09/23 20:41
This was seriously such an amazing app!!! I ran my first half marathon today, and no one in my family was able to make it to the race, but with the app, they got to cheer me on anyway! And most of them made me laugh out loud! Other runners were looking at me like I was crazy. I loved the mile updates, too. They kept me on track and motivated. It turned what could have been a long hard race into something that I was able to have fun with and enjoy. Thanks RaceJoy!

by 71857 on 2018/04/23 00:41
Horrible! Got this for the Pittsburgh marathon, and as soon as the race started the whole app flat-lined. Not only were there no GPS updates (which I paid $3 for to put on 3 phones), but the app wouldn't function at all. I had perfect 4g service and was able to use other apps, so it wasn't my phone. If they are going to promote this for use in a race of this scale, then they should but some reasonable servers behind the thing. One star is too generous. What an embarrassment, I want my money back. Update: gave this another try for the '18 Toledo marathon. Still useless. I got all the split notifications after the race was already over. You'd think they would've improved this in 3 years. Luckily it's free now.
Fun way to engage with your family/friends
by hnmmmm on 2018/06/04 14:37
Tried this for the first time on a half marathon yesterday and it was fun getting all the “cheers” and personal notes. I had turned off progress alerts because I also was using MapMyRun simultaneously. Wish there was a way for them to send personalized audio clips rather than “text to cheer” which sounded very robotic and hard to understand. Either way it made my race a lot more fun. Highly recommend!!
Cool but some malfunctions for me
by Linkmon99 on 2018/05/28 23:14
I used it during the marathon I ran yesterday. It was really cool to get split times and estimated finish times, and to allow my friends to track it as well. Unfortunately the splits sometimes did not match up with the mile markers on the course, and the estimated finish times would jump around a ton because of this. Not sure if it’s the apps fault, my iPhone X, or the marathon bib I had, but just wanted to put that out there. Other than that it’s a really cool app and experience!
Great app!
by Momofthree. on 2017/10/30 20:41
Thought this app was great. I especially loved the mile updates and predicted finish time based on pace. Helped me kick it into high gear and beat the predicted finish time in the last two miles. My family cheered me on from home and their cheers were a great inspiration to keep going. The only downfall was that during the race I kept getting notices saying I wasn’t being tracked (but was), and not all the cheers came through audio (but I could see them in the app).
Great tracker!
by COmom720 on 2018/05/22 17:03
This was a great app for tracking. I loved getting my split times and estimated finish as I was running. Hubby was able to send cheers along the way and had an easy time finding me on the course. I was worried about battery usage. Ran half in 1:47. Played music and had tracking going the entire time. Still had 90% battery when I finished. Easy to set up as a runner and easy for my spectators to use.
Grand lake marathon, Review
by quarterclay on 2017/09/25 15:12
This is my first use of RaceJoy app, it only reported my position on the course one time to my wife and reported my Finish to her about an hour after race was finished, I believe we had it all set right but not for sure.. also normally my phone uses about 25% of my battery during a two hour run, during this event it used 85% battery, I believe if I had of run the full marathon instead of the half it would not have lasted to the end of the race... not sure I will use again but I believe in second chances...

My first big run and the awesome organizers choose this app to help us navigate!!! Awesome!! It was very dark and lonely running my second leg of a 150 road relay race. However, and surprisingly this app stayed with us. The alerts were sometimes behind and it never really gave us individual splits, but you didn’t get lost. Thanks for the help navigating our run throughout all of Ross County Ohio.

This was a great App to use for the running and tracking of the 10 person team I was on for the 150 mile relay run. I only wish I could access it on a computer website so I could see progress with out using up The battery on my iPhone, and so family and friends could more easily track progress during the run.
Superb app!!! LOVED!
by Schmoopette on 2018/04/22 21:27
I used this app during my first marathon and thank goodness I did! My family was able to track my position the entire time. I also got a ton of “cheers” which was super motivating! It was very simple to use and the tracking was right on. Whoever created this must be an athlete (and genius). Look forward to using it again and again. Thanks, RaceJoy
So great!
by untrainedrunner on 2018/10/02 04:08
This app is awesome. It was so convenient to help find people during the race and have spectators find us so they could be there in time to see us cross the finish line. Also really fun to hear the cheers from people while you’re running. Those things took my mind off the fact that I was running a ridiculous distance in the cold rain.
Would be cool if everyone got it working
by lieludalis on 2018/06/04 11:31
As two tech professionals, you’d think we could get this installed and working. And as the spectator, it seemed to be working up until mile 7 of my husbands half marathon. But then nothing and we both got connection errors. I sent several cheers that indicated they were sent, but he didn’t see them and couldn’t hear them. The idea is great, but the complexity of setup etc is a failure point. I’d recommend a trial run before an event if you are depending on this as a logistics tool.
Fabulous app for athletes & spectators!
by ookgirl on 2018/04/25 17:50
I’ve used this app for a number of races, including three ironman-distance triathlons. It gave peace of mind to me and my support crew, because I knew they could find me on the course, and they could tell I was progressing steadily. It was great to get their “cheers” and also to use meet-up to find them after the races. I really felt like it was a God-send!
Meh.
by gvgsfhbb on 2018/05/09 00:55
Great idea, I loved getting cheers from family who couldn’t be there. I liked the breakdown of the race and mike queues. But. The app crashed multiple times during the course. The app wouldn’t always stay active in the background. I missed about half my cheers, which, admittedly, was attributed to some user error. I would add the ability for the app to give me a summary after the race w/ my my pace per mile (the split). I didn’t find the app very user friendly in general.

I’ve used this app a few times before and have always had a great experience with it. Love that friends can send me messages and cheers. Also like that when a friend using it is near me I get notified too. Being able to track runners on the course is very helpful during the race. Wish all my races used RaceJoy!

Don’t even bother
by Jdhsbsiabs on 2018/06/09 18:29
If I could rate the app lower than 1 Star, I would. Simply put, the app did not work at all. It failed to connect for over 10 minutes. Then, (once it had finally connected) started throwing error codes at me 20 yards before I crossed the start line. Not really the time or place to try trouble shooting an app that takes forever to load. I also think the developers have never run a race before, or at least not one as big as the Bellin 10k. Their servers obviously couldn’t handle the 15,000 runners and their families trying to log into the app.
Awesome App!

Disappointing
by Bellakicha on 2018/05/06 20:42
It’s a good thing I was only tracking one person and didn’t need gps tracking to keep tabs on her. This app rarely stayed connected to the internet, would send me notifications long after the event being noted, and didn’t successfully send “cheers” to my runner. It seemed like a good idea - I loved the nerdy options for cheers (Galaxy Quest, Star Trek, and Star Wars references, especially - although the Worf/nice legs quote is kind of messed up). But the last straw was it’s heads up that my runner was near, which came almost half a mile (5 minutes) after she had passed us!

I didn’t usually write reviews, but I really enjoyed this app for my first half marathon. It was so easy to use and I like that I didn’t have to set up a username/password. The pace updates every mile were great and the tracking made it really easy for my family to cheer me on along the course.

I’ve used this app before when I ran my first 5k last year and it was great. This year I ran my first half marathon and had my family track me and send cheers because they couldn’t attend. It was such a great way to feel like they were there with me. The app has been amazing for me so far.
Good idea. Poor execution.
by craigc013 on 2017/10/30 21:27
Our team tried to use this app throughout our relay. Most of the time it would time out and not load. At times it would pick up half of the team. It rarely picked up the runner. It drains the phone battery quickly. It is very confusing to navigate through the options on the app. I would never use this again. We spent so much time trying to figure out how to use the app and missed out on enjoying the race because we were on our phones the whole time.
Love it

I ran my first marathon and RaceJoy made it very easy for my friends and family to see where I was and cheer me on. It definitely helped in the moments where I was feeling tired to get a “cheer” from one of my friends or family members. Very easy to use and I plan on using RaceJoy for any future featured races.

This is a great App. I didn't really know how it worked until a mile into my race, a voice gave me a summary of my run and an estimated finish time. Wow, how motivating. My last three miles were faster since I was so close to a sub one hour 10K. I hope other races will use this App.

The app was easy to use as a runner and it was great that my family could monitor my progress. The near me function is great too so that you know when a runner is close to you as a participant or a spectator. Getting cheers during the race was encouraging too!

This app was amazing! It has some chinks to work out and it’s a little on the plainer side but I loved being able to get cheers from my family and friends in my ear as my I ran my half marathon, even if they weren’t there cheering me on in person! It was so amazing! Definitely suggest using it!

Description
racejoy is created specifically for running, cycling and triathlon events with a focus on the participant and spectator experience.
Best racing app
by gullyman89 on 2020/01/26 17:13
The inter race updates for runners and tracking for spectators is the best.

App worked great! Easy to use.

by music buyer98 on 2019/12/14 19:25
It was be great if you could crest a race joy account and save your races.
Useless
by Mowles2 on 2019/11/24 16:07
App lost my registration on race day so had to register again in the corral and then tacking didn’t work.
Good app

A great App for your race results and for the fans following your run!!
Useless!
by Neeveya on 2019/11/17 00:51
Went to see my son’s marathon today.

Helped me keep track of my pace and helped my husband keep track of me!♥️
Battery gets drained!

Awesome App

by Shari'siphone on 2019/05/05 16:53
Race joy made it possible for my family to meet me at another part of the race and the timing to see them was perfect because they were able to track my run send cheers and even plan when to come to a certain mile! LOVE IT!

Great way to keep supporters updated
by Trail hound on 2018/10/04 11:51
I used RaceJoy at the Wineglass Marathon.
Great app!

Fun app, works great, have used it my last three races. Love getting encouraging messages from friends while running.

by WinifredE on 2018/10/02 12:38
LOVE this app.

I didn’t want to take phone with on race.

Racejoy was the coolest. This was my very first race. If we had not had racejoy my family would have missed me at the finish line because I finished faster than what we expected. It was nice to keep track of my pace as I went along!

The friends and family tracking me seemed to really enjoy it and said it was user friendly. Unfortunately I couldn’t hear the cheers while running, but almost better when after the race I could listen to them all in celebration. Alerts did come to my Apple Watch.
Trouble hearing cheers

I enjoyed the app however the cheers from my trackers didn’t always come through. I listened to music the whole time and sometimes i heard cheers and others not at all. The people that tracked me got updates.

First time using this app and loved the mile announcements giving the total time, split mile time, average time per mile and estimated finish time. Even better was my friends and family could send encouragements along the way. Great app!
Great App!!

I used this app for the first time during the Hell of a Half marathon in Exeter, CA. It was such an awesome experience having my family in different states cheering me on as I ran the race. Definitely recommend all races to use this app for the runners to experience what I did.
Good
by Alphamkb on 2018/10/31 15:04
I just ran my first 15k last weekend.
Great way to keep supporters updated
by Trail hound on 2018/10/04 11:51
I used RaceJoy at the Wineglass Marathon.

Great app!
by Momofthree. on 2017/10/30 20:41
Thought this app was great.
RaceJoy is great!

Thanks for the help navigating our run throughout all of Ross County Ohio.

by AElizabeth123 on 2018/10/16 16:40
I have tried many different ways to help my friends and family find me during the different races I’ve done and this app out performed every other method. It was really helpful to have a live map with the mile markers mapped on and actuate tracking. It got the people I needed to the places I needed them during a very challenging run!

This was a great App to use for the running and tracking of the 10 person team I was on for the 150 mile relay run. I only wish I could access it on a computer website so I could see progress with out using up The battery on my iPhone, and so family and friends could more easily track progress during the run.

Their servers obviously couldn’t handle the 15,000 runners and their families trying to log into the app.

by Bellakicha on 2018/05/06 20:42
It’s a good thing I was only tracking one person and didn’t need gps tracking to keep tabs on her.
Easy to use...if you want to carry your phone
by Afuller_luvs_music on 2018/10/31 13:20
The app is very user-friendly for both racers and those cheering them on. Only downside is the racer must carry their phone or tracking is lost. I had an equipment problem on race day and ended up literally carrying my phone in my hand for a 15K so my ppl would know where I was on the course.

by Kejani5 on 2019/06/01 23:06
Was great when it worked.

Love it!

This app was amazing! It has some chinks to work out and it’s a little on the plainer side but I loved being able to get cheers from my family and friends in my ear as my I ran my half marathon, even if they weren’t there cheering me on in person! It was so amazing! Definitely suggest using it!
