Great app
by Bray little on 2021/01/14 13:47
I keep it tracking me all day everyday. Tracking mileage for business, is big business and with the reports I can see wherever I went whenever I need to.
Great app!
by Paradox drummer on 2021/01/13 17:26
Very simple to understand and use. Love it!
Easy to use overall but with a few quirks
by Dxg002 on 2021/01/11 17:10
The tracking software works great once your settings are calibrated. There is a delay as the processing of the app needs to know if the trip was legit. Not easy to delete need to go to the website to do so, which is very inconvenient and needs to be fixed. The trip should be able to be deleted but go to a trash can, in case you make a mistake...just my 2 cents.
5 stars
by AbesCrew on 2021/01/11 17:09
I recently started my new small business and this app is really simplifying the process of logging personal and business miles. Absolutely user friendly with a ton of help options.
Awesome for Service Type Businesses!
by Ladybugz65 on 2021/01/10 18:17
I have used this app since the beginning. I had a pet sitting biz (25+yrs) now I do landscaping. MileIQ is perfect when charging for service time & labor. You have the ability to sort, generate a report and give the customer near exact start and finish times. Since it is GPS triggered it takes the guesswork out and you have little chance of a customer questioning when or if you were there! Random use: there was a attempted break-in at a clients home. It happened sometime between my visits. When the police arrived I showed them MileIQ app with the window of time from my leaving then returning so there was no question when this happened. PLUS it takes the guess work out of tax time; biz vs personal travel. Pretty cool, huh!!
Horrible support
by Japplew on 2021/01/10 02:19
I didn’t realize it was a Microsoft app. They’ve lived up to their reputation. Hard program & not user friendly & no support! Don’t buy!!!!
Tried many with a lot of frustration
by AggieProud on 2021/01/09 18:22
This is a great app. I have tried many of them and came to love this one. If you have a Microsoft office subscription it adds on to it and uses your login to manage this app. A great product in my opinion. You do need to review it occasionally to confirm it is putting your miles in the categories you want each drive to be entered. It does a good job remembering what those are after awhile.
Going back to handwritten is better than this
by PW_mix on 2021/01/06 23:20
Not accurate and forces you to sub categorize everything. Accuracy: The odometer on my last three cars reported 16.3 miles to a particular client’s location. This app records it has 15 miles going and 14 miles returning. That’s 3 miles missing, times 200 days/year for this client is 600 missing miles. It’s better to log it by hand than this crap. Another client is 33 miles each way and this app logs it is 31 each way. More missing miles. Categorizing: Business and personal miles have to be subcategorized. Why? If I’m going to the grocery store, it’s just personal miles. I don’t need a category called personal/personal. Very irritating to scrutinize every little thing in my personal life. SOUNDS LIKE MICROSOFT IS EXTENDING ITS DATABASE OF MY PERSONAL LIFE. Deleting app. Good luck, all.
Perfect for business

I never have to worry about counting my miles, no IRS audits on my miles for me!
Great app!
by Tnplaya on 2021/01/06 14:09
Love this app and all the features! Been using it for years. Would love to have an “auto classify all” option. I do a lot of driving and am 1099 so all my miles are fir business. Would love fir them to just be auto logged and emailed to me each month.
Not impressed
by sghdgndgndgn on 2021/01/04 23:23
Not impressed at all. Now it’s stuck on my phone
by smithdavidgene on 2021/01/04 17:42
Got the app in September of 2020 and starting today I will absolutely write down my mileage instead of using the app. At first I thought it was great that I didn’t have to do a thing. However, in bad reception areas, it dies NOT work properly and to be honest at $60, is rather not have to mess with it. Not the case. Good idea just not good for me. Ensure your phone receptive good in the area you’re driving. It has completely slipped drives before. It groups drives together without notice. Get the app right, then charge for it. Don’t be like me and waste money.

Great app! Easy way to track personal and business mileage!
Poor privacy and doesn’t work
by mDevereaux on 2021/01/03 17:18
App requires privacy location services to be set to ALWAYS. Will not work when set to While Using. Even when set to ALWAYS, app would not work.
Incorrect Mileage Reporting
by McFlySoHigh on 2021/01/03 11:56
While the user interface and export features are great, starting in 2021 I have been logging my drives in Excel for the past two days in addition to MileIQ. I have all of the correct settings enabled for the app. Location set to Always. Background App Refresh. Motion and Fitness Enabled. WiFi Enabled. LTE Enabled. GPS Enabled. Background App Refresh Enabled. However: On 1/1/2021: I drove 192 Miles. It calculated my driving into 7 trips. It only logged 167 of the 192 Miles. On 1/2/2021: I drove 171 Miles. It calculated my drives into 3 trips. It only logged 144 of the 171 miles. All of these miles were driven and classified as Business / Tax Deductible. TOTAL: 58 Missing miles in just two days. The disparity of “58” missing miles results in a Lost/Missing tax deduction of $33.35 for only 2 days of driving. I started using this in October of 2020. Prior to which I kept a simple excel sheet log of miles driven for business. I have not yet reconciled my mileage for those months vs the miles logged in MileIQ, however the incorrect logging is very concerning. In just 2 days of normal driving (I drive a lot for business) in 2021 I have already noticed an incorrect / less miles logged = $33.35 tax deduction. If that is the rough average based on my miles driven MileIQ would miss roughly 7250 miles based on driving 5 days a week / 50 weeks a year = $4168 lost deduction I should receive. (Roughly an additional $1500 in taxes I’d have to pay) I run on a separate identical model iPhone: An App that has full navigation recording / black box / speedometer that stamps and logs in 1 second intervals. It logs precise GPS Latitude Longitude, Altitude, Speed, G-Force for Turns / Stops... I can play back every drive from start to finish on a Google Maps Overlay. The mileage on that App vs my Car’s Odometer is only off by a difference of < 1.2% for the entire year. 60,000 Miles and it was only off from my cars Odometer by 706 Miles for the 2020 Year. This is likely due to tire pressure change / tire diameter change due to temperature. That said: Something is clearly not right with MileIQ. Most of my miles are highway. There no reason it should be missing 58 Miles from 2 days of highway driving.
Locks up when opening
by DonR54 on 2021/01/03 05:57
I just paid for unlimited usage and every time I try to open it the bottom half the screen just flashes and it locks up can’t do anything I’ve rebooted tried everything I know can’t get it to work.
Missed four out of eight drives on first day of use.
by an App Store user 999 on 2021/01/02 02:24
As above, the App missed four out of eight drives in my first day observing the App.
Good, great, but two things would make it much better
by op3nm1nd3d on 2021/01/02 02:02
Need to be able to “join” any trip because when you have multiple business stops out won’t always let you combine them into a larger “round trip”. The inability to change a classified entry and then not be able to delete it is a problem.
by Pro Radon Testing on 2021/01/01 22:23

Love MileIQ App
by vcol on 2020/12/30 13:04
This app is easy to use for tracking your business and personal miles. You can create a list of the specific categories and purposes for driving. record my gas cost or relevant details in the notes section. This makes daily, weekly, monthly and annual mileage reports so simple.
4x user and still using it
by Whattimeisit! on 2020/12/30 04:09
Let’s say that I been using this app for years now. It has saved me money on tax season keeping me In check on all of the job sites I’ve drive to and back and forth from office to jobs. I would be lost for not using this app when it comes to taxes season. I have no reason to stop using if it helps me with job sites mileage and tax season
Love this APP
by Cowgirljcw on 2020/12/28 19:34
I use it to track Business and personal drives. It was nice to have it there when my company need to know my clock in clock out for a client. Looked it up and there was all the information I needed.
Using the MileIQ app
by WAR BLUE 92 on 2020/12/26 20:40
This app is really easy to use. I like the fact that it does all the work for you. I use it for my business. It also allows me to email each month to my tax person. I have referred this app to many people in business.
Best mileage app ever- and in some Office 365 plans
by Joseph Momma on 2020/12/26 19:09
I’ve used MileIQ for about four years, and it’s been very helpful to accumulate the data for my vehicles. The best part is that it’s included with many Office 365 business and enterprise plans and is fairly inexpensive to upgrade to the full paid plan if you don’t get it for free. Start 2021 right and get better documentation. Your accountant will thank you.
Best Mileage App on the market!
by bbteinzy on 2020/12/26 14:47

Pretty simple, pretty good
by udontreallywantmyreviewdou on 2020/12/17 09:56
I appreciate the number of drives-to-be-classified showing on home page of phone. Also appreciate being able to classify drives for multiple purposes, but would love to be able to keep two or even 3 jobs’ drives separate. I have a Volunteer job, and 2 different paid jobs. Not so easy to produce 3 separate reports on computer.
Love it!
by YukonCorny on 2020/12/17 00:14
A tax accountant referred me to the app to keep track of my charitable and work mileage. Makes categorizing drives so easy! One of the most functional apps I’ve ever used! Highly recommend

Good automatic tracking but not accurate routes
by AnonymusHelper on 2020/12/15 08:01
This app is great because it’s simple and easy to navigate but the routes are not accurate. This could be a better app if this problem was fixed so here it goes...Half of the time the app doesn’t accurately track the start and stop destination and the routes. I drove this route but the app says I drove a different route (which was a longer route too). Then I made this short stop at a store but the app shows that I only drove in the area along with the different route from what I actually drove (instead of recording that as an individual route like I expected it to, that route was automatically connected to my next route and it became one individual route altogether). Not only that but in one of my routes, the app completely disregarded a stop I made and my route, according to the app, didn’t event go anywhere near that stop, it stopped midway then changed course. Overall, I’m still going to use this app, but if these small details were fixed this would really be the top mileage tracker. Thanks!
Can’t Live Without It!
by kyoung7990 on 2020/12/13 14:02
This app makes it so much easier to track my mileage for driver gig jobs! And I love the fact that you don’t have to remember to start your app when you want it to start recording mileage. You just start your car and it automatically starts tracking. And at the end of the day, you can choose personal or business. And if you don’t remember, the app will remind you until all your drives have been accounted! Well worth the monthly price that I pay and at the end of the month or the end of the year, you can print out your reports.
by vargasfamking on 2020/12/13 09:07

by JKatherine92 on 2020/12/11 06:24
Extremely easy to use out of all the things I’ve tried to keep up with work miles! Also great to track personal travel and be aware of mileage in any given week. The swipe makes tracking my miles and reporting my monthly mileage for business (not to mention taxes) beyond easy. 5 minutes a week, done.
Excellent mileage tracker
by 757 RE on 2020/12/10 18:10
I’m a Real Estate agent and tracking mileage is a must! Has taken a chore that I was not good at doing consistently (manually) and made it automatic. I’ve been using for almost 2 years now and it captures 99% of drives. Can manually add through desktop version any drives that are missed - usually only a handful each year. I’ve set a reminder to classify drives every night so I can do it while fresh in my mind. Usually takes only a minute or two to document reason for trip and then swipe right for business or left for personal. I print off monthly reports to document my mileage reimbursement from my LLC to me. Simple, quick and well documented!
Great app
by Scooby811 on 2020/12/10 16:34

by Byrd, T on 2020/12/07 16:20

Amazing app!!! Needs one thing
by Bighouse220 on 2020/12/07 13:56
This app is definitely the superior app when it comes to mileage tracking. I wish it also had gps abilities so I could use my gps and mileage tracker in one app
by oneblessedguy on 2020/12/07 13:10
Are used to love this app. It was very reliable. I could trust it to log my runs and drives with reliability. Microsoft has change the algorithm somehow end it no longer reliably can determine my drives. This is incredibly sad! I mean, the whole point of the app is to be reliable. If he can’t do that, then it isn’t fulfilling it’s purpose.
Nice App

by CoachRamirez on 2020/12/05 21:20
I did some research before going with this app, so far it’s awesome and so easy to use. Great ways to edit and fix trips, the premium version is even better. Highly suggest this app if you do Uber or any other drivers app. Stay safe out there.
Wont work more than a month
by Gar-gawesome on 2020/12/05 04:42
This is a great app to keep track of miles... if it ever works. I’m constantly having to delete it and reinstalling it for it to only work for a month. And I’m paying for this app because I work for Favor and Doordash. Always having “connection issues” when I’m on WiFi. Never records my drives because it won’t let me log on. I feel like I’m getting scammed sometimes
Great app!
by Calipan876 on 2020/12/01 18:26
MileIQ has made mileage tracking so much easier for me. The value far exceeds the cost!
by Bonnie2012 on 2020/12/01 17:02

What a HUGE RELIEF this mileage app is!!
by jackieLOVESjohnjohn on 2020/11/29 13:40
What a HUGE RELIEF this mileage app is!! Before I discovered this app...I struggled trying to organize my mileage notes & no matter what I “constantly forgot” to note my mileage, before taking off into the direction I needed to go. This App will help get rid of the having to make note of what your mileage is “in/out of your vehicle.” This App automatically enters your location & calculates for you...SO MIND BLOWING & STRESS FREE!!
Best $6 a month you’ll ever spend!

Tax Time
by Daddy9724 on 2020/11/27 22:29
I am a DoorDash delivery driver. At first it seemed monotonous to do all that swiping at the end of the day. However, at tax time it was easy-peasy! All of the information was separated by vehicle and easy to find.
Good but needs bigger maps and longer wait times
by Beekeeper Art on 2020/11/27 18:44
When I’m trying to remember what customer I was calling on the little map does not give me detail if I try to zoom or the city. It’s hard to remember who I was calling on. I’m going to a customer 10 miles away but stop for gas. I’d like to have it listed all as one trip is I stop for less than 15 minutes.
Great App Worth The Money!
by Ricksteelerfan!!! on 2020/11/24 23:12
This app is amazing I’ve been using it for 6 years and it works great. It saves me a ton of time while I’m reporting my mileage on company expense report!
by exoregon on 2020/11/24 17:55
This app is VERY disappointing. The auto drive NEVER worked consistently (have tried to use this since June). Then I started manually to add the drives. Not as convenient but at least I knew they were being logged. Now, as of the last update that no longer works. Tried to interact with their tech support yesterday & the rep on line kept trying to tell me how to use the “add drive” function. He would not listen to me when I told him I know how to use it but it no longer works since their last update. Then I tried to reach them via phone. Thought I might be making some headway. The tech was supposed to call me back after being disconnected but never did. Suffice to say, the app is now OFF my phone & I started using a competing product - TripLog. It’s fantastic AND actually works.
Hasn’t worked in months
by Pig-Dog on 2020/11/23 03:36
When I first purchased the premium subscription, it was working great. Told several coworkers about the app. However, the app stopped tracking my drives back in December 2019 and haven’t been able to it working. Awful app that doesn’t work consistently.
Easy to use, some imperfections

Thank you for developing this amazing application as it’s very easy to use. One request: Is there any way for the app to launch when it senses movement? I would prefer this over needing to manually launch before every drive.
Won’t work after I paid to upgrade
by Rhodesmy3sons on 2020/11/18 13:09
This app worked great...until I upgraded. Now it just freezes and I can’t do anything. I’ve closed the application, shut down and restarted my phone, all the things. Nothing. Every other app works so I know it’s just this one. Get my money then make it not work. Thanks Microsoft.

No more trying to remember
by Chris5914 on 2020/11/15 22:25
I’m so happy with this app. I am constantly on the go for my job. From supply house to customer homes to the shop. I use my personal vehicle on the job and pay for my own gas. Sometimes I’ll do 6 service calls in one day and then be totally lost on how much time I spent where because I didn’t fill out my log sheet. Not anymore. With this app I’m able to keep track of where I’ve been and how long I was there. The app also keeps track of miles I drive for work and I’m able to get accurate miles for gas reimbursement. I get a lot more done when I don’t have paperwork to worry about. Thank you MilageIQ for this great app. I would buy this app if I had to and I don’t spend more on apps ever.

App issues
by kyod90 on 2020/11/14 12:35
I hit the free 40 monthly drives in about 4 days because I drive, so I upgraded to the paid version. A day after I paid them for the monthly fee the app couldn’t ever connect and log any of my drives or show me my history. Fortunately I found out QuickBooks has this feature so I'll be using that going forward.

by Sarah.Ba618 on 2020/11/11 17:31

Saved me at Tax time
by Kelleyrn on 2020/11/11 12:46
I love this app. I had to do back-taxes because I had a hard drive crash and lost most of a year’s data. Because I was able to go “back in time” with this app and my Outlook calendar - I was saved. It was a tedious but straight-forward process. Why only four stars? I would give this app a 5+ star rating if possible, if it were not for the fact that it won’t record in the background if not open anymore. I lost data at the end of last year, 2919, because the app was closed. My permissions were set to allow it to track in the background. What happened? Just now I closed the app and received the message “Heads up! MileIQ has quit. Tap to restart app.” So, I don’t understand. Sometimes it works in the background and sometimes it does not. That lack of reliability and certainty is a real problem. Please fix this or educate me on the proper settings and I’ll give this a 5-star rating. Have this work with Quickbooks and other accounting software and I’ll write a song about your heroism!
Great app!!

I love the ease of use. You can separate business from personal drives and add notes to the business drives just in case your ever audited. The one thing I would like to change is the grouping of drives that it does. If I drive to the store and back to the job site, it groups that drive as one. I classify one as “materials” and the return is classified as “customer visit”. I can un-group them manually, but I’d rather not go through those steps. Just keep every drive separate so that it’s easy to classify the drives. Other than that, it’s a great app that is very helpful.

Stopped working, lost data
by Mathiastodd on 2020/11/10 18:38
Used for one day. Worked very well. Loved the features and ease of use. 2nd day, wouldn’t let me log in. Restarted phone and logged in to find no data of my past drives and it kept telling me it had problems connecting. I’ll try another app or just go back to pen and paper. I really need to be able to rely on my method of recording.
Set it and forget it
by SupremeVegan on 2020/11/08 21:24
I like how you can just set it to always run. I have it always set to run in the background and reminders set so I can classify miles. I do wish that it could show the name or location of stops but it works great for what I need.

New IOS New Problems
by Docj on 2020/11/04 15:26
Every time Apple does a major update to the software mileIQ has major issues with tracking and recording. What is discerning is it usually takes mileIQ too long to work the bugs out. I have found during these times that it is wise and useful to monitor your drives and data.
User friendly and reliable
by kerbear_1 on 2020/11/03 20:53
This app is really easy to use and reliable. I can trust it to log every trip I make without needing to to do a thing. The only suggestion I have us that it would be nice if I could also log receipts for gas. That way I would have transportation expenses all in one accessible place.

I get office 365 through our family plan and this app does what I need it to do. I would prefer to see my whole path rather than only start and points. I deliver Postmates and it gives me a start and end point of my house so I can’t tell if I went to the grocery store or if I was delivering. Other than that it is as advertised

Doesn’t track half the mileage
by Uber Driver 1859 on 2020/10/27 16:23
Yesterday, I drove a total of 169.1 miles and the app only tracked me for 73 miles. I looked back on previous days and found that the app has been missing approx 60% of all mileage. I contacted customer service and told Kandace K. that I’m a ride share driver and, that it’s very important I have all of my miles logged. She provided no real solution and told me that “ride share apps provide mileage logs for miles driven while a passenger is in the car”. Umm HELLO KANDACE, I subscribe to Mile IQ services so I don’t have to use ride share mileage logs! Besides, ride share apps do not provide mileage logs between and, on the way to trips. Poor customer service and no real solution to the issues with the app. SUBSCRIPTION CANCELED!

It reminds me more of driven more than I remember myself. In itemize the business category if you’re self-employed as a customer visit, or temporary worksite, or food and entertainment at the end of a job, or supplies are getting while out on a job. Very convenient, I recommend It especially to self-employed people who are trying to keep track of their travels.
Easy Peasy Just Needs Two Little Improvements
by Charmed Life 9 on 2018/05/30 14:23
I love this app and I use it all the time to track my business mileage. Easy as can be. You just swipe one way for biz and the other way for personal. It’s nice to see all your deductions adding up in the upper right corner. As for the improvements I’d like to see, I wish it was more accurate and it could pinpoint at least major landmarks like Costco or local schools. Sometimes once I’ve named a place, it says I was at that place if I was a couple blocks away. That makes it hard to be completely accurate in my tracking. For instance I named one of my kid’s schools and it thought I was there when I was going an open house at one of my listings a couple blocks away. One is business, one is personal. The other helpful update might be to have it remind you to track if you don’t do it for a couple days. As a Realtor I go so many places, if I get a few days behind I have no idea what his business and what is personal. I wouldn’t even mind a reminder every time I get out of the car, or at least every time I get home. I have a reminder set to delete texts and log mileage at the end of each day, but something from the app when I don’t do it would be great. That should probably be an optional feature because I know that would bug some people. Overall, thank you so much for making it easy to keep track of miles and get the tax write-offs. Well done!
About as simple as it gets!
by 4cinema on 2018/03/02 12:33
I’ve been using this app for about 3 months now and, quite frankly, this is one of the best apps ever created. It works flawlessly and completely automatic in the background of your mobile device. It has logged every single drive I have made since I started using it. And the join feature works great to tie together all of those trips that have minor detours along the way to your destination like getting off the interstate to get gas or food or for an overnight stay. Couple that feature with the simple swipe left or right to categorize a drive as personal or business and this is just about the easiest, most effective app I have ever used period. Seriously, if you aren’t using MileIQ to track your business mileage, you need to start using today. Just make sure you’ve set-up all your data and vehicle info before taking your first drive. I suggest doing a test drive just to be sure it is capturing your drives automatically. When I first started, it missed a few initial trips because I did not have my vehicle information set-up completely. But once you are sure it is automatically capturing each drive, you are good to go. This app is about as perfect in form and function and usefulness as it gets. Try it today, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to use this app. Pure Genius!
Fire Protection Inspector
by JeremyNoll on 2018/01/27 21:56
I am an inspector for a company that installs, designs & does inspections on fire suppression systems. I drive a lot, all day long from job to job, so mileage is a big part on the job. So far I have found the app great, though the frequent drives option doesn’t work that great and the work hours feature doesn’t allow you to edit those drives as it automatically logs them without any input on your part, which I do not like. Wish when it auto logs a drive, that it would still pop up and say “we just logged a business drive, is this correct? Would you like to add anything to this drive?” Same goes with a personal drive. Also, when in a drive from one job to the next or from the job to home, if you stop at a store or gas station, the app will stop that drive and when you start driving again it will start an entire new drive, I wish you had the option to continue the drive so therefore it would be logged together as one simple drive and not several different logs which you have to go back and calculate. I think if they fixed these minor issues this app would be top notch.
Good Luck
by Lazy Is Expensive on 2017/09/06 11:35
Missing several trips every day. I've used this for 17 months. I referred my friend who cancelled it immediately cause he paid close attention to his drives. I decided to check myself. Well, he was right. Not sure how many thousands of dollars I lost last year on taxes. Go back to pen and paper. Lazy will cost you big time. It says it tracks drives over half a mile. Well, I'm losing those half mile stops as well as many of them that are several miles. Just went through my drives and found 2 discrepancies within my first two hours of work."UPDATE" 9/5/17 Day two in a row. It shows a stop at 9:16am and the next starting point 10:38am about 20+ miles away. I made 3 stops between that time period. About 7 mile drives. I don't want to hear about being my phone service. If anyone in the world lost service for more than 8 seconds they'd pull over and freak out till it's fixed. Never mind 1.25 hours in the middle of town. If you make many stops like myself you can very simply check accuracy and making sure all your stopping points are also your next starting point. I don't ever make a big deal out of things, but at this rate I'm probably out about $7,500 worth of mileage last year and more this year. That's a big deal for anyone. I will continue this week and after every stop I will make sure I have a solid 5 bar internet connection before starting my drives. If there's a single day of accuracy I will update this again on Saturday this week.
Missing Key Features
by RealNewRu on 2018/01/25 20:43
I really love the concept behind this app—the simplicity of swiping to classify miles. This is the first job I’ve had where I need to keep track of business miles and it can be daunting to do so each and every day. I thought Mile IQ was going to be a great solution, however I see 4 key problems that keep me from ever wanting to pay for the app. 1.) I cannot seem to find a way to view miles by DAY. I only see an option for monthly reports and my job requires that I record miles personal vs. business by the day. 2.) On top of that, I don’t want reports to be sent to my email. My life is busy enough. Do you think I want more emails? Isn’t that the whole purpose of Mile IQ is to save time..not add more to my plate? Why can’t you just view your mileage breakdown on the app? Finance apps like Mint allow you to break down your spending categories by day, so I know it’s not impossible or too complicated. 3.) When you try to view the maps for each drive, there are no business names or landmarks that show up. Sometimes I cannot remember where I went next and I would be counting on the map locations to tell me. 4.) 40 drives free is not very many at all. That seems extremely low. I think the app is a great idea..but it needs to be executed much better.
Chude’s Reviews
by Chude's Reviews on 2019/07/26 01:05
Currently downloaded 3 mileage and expense trackers (Mile IQ, Intuit (Turbo Tax Self Employed, and Taxbot). Like all 3, but when it comes to tracking mileage, Mile IQ clearly outshines the rest. As a result of the clean interface, user-friendly experience, and the fact that it remembers your drives if you name your location. Also, unlike the “Self-Employed app by Intuit/Turbo Tax, when it comes to drives, Mile IQ catches the drives on the same day. I currently just classified my 13 Mile IQ drives for the day, and Turbo Tax’s app has yet to post 1 drive for the day (not to mention will miss some drives). Tax Bot is better about catching drives, but doesn’t have as clean as an Interface/UE (User Experience), and, only shows start time and not end time (in my profession, knowing what time one arrives at a location is very important, and can make the difference between hefty fines/jail time, and making a good living. So, although Mike IQ doesn’t allow one to keep track of expenses, for the cheaper price than the other apps I’m using, and the more proficient ability to capture drives and cleaner interface, I definitely recommend MileIQ!
Generally great, but with flaws
by AcuDrew on 2019/02/19 12:43
Love how this app collects info on drives automatically, then classifying those trips into the most generic “business” heading is pretty easy, and generally pretty accurate. Issues though: In the app there is no longer a way to join drives (someone put the AutoClassify button in front of the Join Drives button—beta testing anyone?) you have to go to the website. Also, I when I delete drives (I’m only tracking business mileage, not my whole life) I have to say why. Every...single...time. Plus, there seems to be no way to differentiate different types of business drives (e.g. errands vs deliveries) unless you go (again) to the website. The website should be for advanced reporting activities, not for super basic trip categorization stuff. Otherwise would have been 4-5 stars... Missing feature: I go to customers both to check inventory AND to make deliveries (business), and also to shop (personal). Therefore, “auto classify“ is useless to me if I want to differentiate the two business activities, and not count the personal miles to the same location . It would become useful to me if I could identify the two (or three) reasons I go to places, MileIQ could come to me when it recognizes a similar trip for me to identify which reason I’ve gone there...
As User-Friendly As It Gets
by Ashlyn's Mama on 2018/04/02 16:43
I absolutely LOVE this app!! MikeIQ makes it SO easy to classify and keep track of the miles you drive for business so there’s no headache figuring out your mileage at tax time every April. It breaks down your drives by month and creates a year-end report for you as well. MileIQ also allows you to create your own sub-classifications for your drives (i.e. Business meeting with customers, medical appointments, office supplies, kid’s sporting events, school drop off/pick ups, etc.) and since the IRS assigns different deduction amounts per mile based upon the drive (drive for client meeting vs. medical appointment have different rates per mile with the IRS), there really is no way to screw up your tax deductions. This app is a lifesaver and one less business expense deduction hassle I have to calculate and keep track of myself each year. I absolutely recommend this app to anyone in need of keeping track of the miles you put on your car/driven every month for tax related purposes. Easily 5 Stars!!
Could more TAX friendly
by johncdali on 2018/01/23 05:00
Love the app and it records my drives fairly accurately. Sometimes when I come home from work and stop at the house for less than five minutes to change into my gym clothes .... it will record my travel from work to home and then from home to the gym as one trip. I simply make a note of that so that I can reconcile it later. From a tax perspective, if you were taking “actual expenses” instead of “mileage” as your deduction.... you need to know the percentage of business miles out of all of your vehicle mileage. The app doesn’t calculate this automatically for you. The circle graph the app displays just simply gives you business trips versus personal trips. This is useless data from a tax deduction perspective. If you are going to take “actual expenses” as a deduction on your taxes the calculation vehicle expenses multiplied by percent business miles traveled. The app makes you calculate that percentage from data presented on a spreadsheet on your own which is inconvenient and possibly cumbersome in some circumstances. I wish the developers would have sought the advice of some expert Tax Attorneys in the development of the app.
Seems to work, but...
by FilmGo2Guy on 2017/10/17 14:21
It seems to work and the interface is easy. I like to App’s ability to learn and auto classify frequent drives. However, much like a previous user’s review, I too am seeing a discrepancy in the accuracy and missing drives. The locations it identifies are not always accurate which makes it difficult to identify the actual location where the software picked up the Start or End of a drive. This a serious credibility issue. My second complaint is the inability to categorize personal charity drives. I work with different charities MileIQ prohibits assigning a deductible $ amount for separate charity. The user can create a separate listing for each charity, but is not allowed to assign the mileage rate. Even though the total mileage is tallied, the user must do the math manually at the end of each month or at the end of the year. But isn’t that the point of the having the App do the work? I do a lot of charity work and the App forces all charities to be grouped under the title of “Charity” if the user wants automatic mileage calculations for IRS Tax purposes. I have discussed this with customer support several times and they don’t appear to care. Makes me wonder if they actually understand how it works in the real world of small business and tax codes.
Almost perfect
by Bruce.88 on 2020/01/08 18:11
Mile IQ really is fantastic. It does a great job at tracking mileage and running in the background while not draining your battery. Although this app works really well I would like to see three additions. 1) Job tracking: the ability to assign drives to specific jobs not tasks. For a construction company it doesn’t really work to track mileage for specific jobs. This is more of a broad spectrum tracker. 2) Delete or Remove Drives: I’m yet to find the ability to delete a drive. I went to a consult with another contractor and left Mile IQ running in the background. Like it is suppose to it tracked our trip and drives. The only option I had at that point was to classify those drives as personal. Not a big deal because I’m not concerned with personal miles but if someone was there isn’t any way to adjust. 3) the ability to link drives: Mile IQ will automatically link certain drives and sometimes create round trip drives. The ability to manually link drives would be fantastic as well. Over all it’s the best I’ve found so far and I’ve already recouped the cost of the 1year subscription within my first 40 drives.
If you’re looking for less work, this may not be it
by Rgoks on 2019/01/09 18:24
My boss said use it, so I am. We were still logging miles on paper. Service company where my home is my office, start and stop point for the day. I know the mileage to most of my customers and this app is accurate about half the time. If you make a detour stop along the way, make sure the app knows. I went out of my way to pick up parts and then to the customer site. MileIQ listed the direct mileage of 37 from home to the customer, when I actually drove 58 miles. I had to delete the trip and create two new ones to even get close. It does not seem to use the gps during the trip, it just seems to record the location when you stop for more than a few minutes. So it might see you stopped for a long train, but you could go 50 miles out of your way for coffee and the extra miles might never be recorded. Also, something weird happened yesterday. I went to a customer in the city, then to one in the suburbs. MileIQ said I stopped on the freeway several miles outside downtown and then turned around a few hours later and went from the same location on the freeway to the second customer.
I had an issue, and no one could help me!
by NuNu The Virgo on 2020/05/03 04:37
My issue was, mile IQ stop recording my drives, and I couldn't figure out why, and then I remembered after they told me that they couldn't help me and they needed more information. I remembered my iPhone asked me if I wanted MileIQ to continue to run in the background, and it gave me two options one was always, and the one was, only while using the app, and I think without thinking I put only while using the app, so I missed two days of Business drives. I think that day my phone kept asking me this, and that is running in the background do you want to do this or do that, and I got fed up and just said only while using the app and everything that popped up that's what I put. So if you are using MileIQ make sure you put always so that you don't have to keep the app open, and it will still record all your drives. You can do this by going to your settings under MileIQ, and highlight always!
Thanks!
App thinks I have a teleporter
by Handle da on 2020/01/25 13:23
I’ve been using the app for a while and have developed a strong dislike for it. A hatred really. Breaks up trips into multiple smaller ones if you pull over for a moment, very very inaccurate mileage tracking. I usually end up with about a 20% loss of my actual mileage. I track manually with a notebook, trip odometers and other apps. Everything lines up except the mileage from this app. Sometimes trips aren’t even tracked or logged. Very hard to manage, view, organize and delete trips once they’ve been logged. If I want to delete a bunch of trips I have to go and delete each one individually. I don’t need a record of 50 1.3 mile personal trips. Pay for a clunky, inaccurate app? You crazy? Where is all the money going from paid subscriptions if not into making the app work decently? Very strange. Strange that free apps are excellent and this one I kind of wish I never even downloaded and wasted my time and money with. Also, don’t respond asking me to contact the support team to work out the issues. I don’t work for you and you wouldn’t be willing to pay me for my time helping you solve these problems. Just look at all of the other mileage apps that work and do something like that.
Wish it was more accurate ...
by rangernine on 2020/07/03 17:02
The developers of this app have done a lot of things well, nice features, user interface, and I really like the monthly reports. However, like others have reported, I also have noticed a problem with the drive autodetection feature missing drives which is the most critical function of the app. I have requested that they add a manual mode to allow driver to initiate start and stop points to help deal with this issue but not sure they will add this. For me, the app will miss my first drive of day almost 100% of the time and sometimes miss short intermediate destinations. This is a problem for maintaining accurate tax records. What’s strange is that they include a setting to disable automatic drive detection but in the disabled state, there’s no way to manually initiate a drive. Why they have this setting is a mystery to me since the app doesn’t work if drive detection is set to off. Such a nicely designed app with this huge critical flaw is sad. I have already reported this to the developers so no need to reply with that suggestion. Let me know when you add a manual mode. Thanks.
Good app
by David H in AZ on 2020/08/01 14:25
I do like the app. I use it to track all my business vs personal miles. I do have one critique so I’m writing this review so that hopefully the developer sees it and can do something about it. Once you’ve categorized a drive as either business or personal, you can no longer delete it. Yes, you can correct and switch from personal to business or vice verse, but if you accidentally label one, for example as personal, then realize your mistake, say it was a rental car, for example, you can’t go delete it. So now my percentage of personal vs business mileage is messed up. The app literally just gave me the option to categorize a run I went on as personal or business. Sadly, I can’t run as fast as i drive, so you’d think the app would be smart enough to realize that my 8 MPH run for 3 miles is not a trip in a car. But without thinking about it, I categorized my jog as a personal trip in my car. And now i can’t delete it.
by Work-A-Haulic on 2017/09/16 09:59
I have been using mileage IQ for about seven months. I started working for a company that had promised me a Company car as part of my position. The company had a policy of not paying any of their employees for personal use of their vehicles. But, because mileage IQ is so professional, accurate and detailed, I've been able to get paid for all my business mileage over the last seven months. I simply told them that this will be temporary until I receive my company vehicle that they promised. After talking with other employees I realize that I would never get a company vehicle. If you work for a sleazy company that wants to cheat you on your mileage, you can simply keep this documentation until you leave the company. This will stand up in court and you can file a small claims lawsuit for $150. With this type of documentation your case will be a slamdunk in court. Enjoy suing your x-employer with the help of mileage IQ.!!!
Stops working if you don’t allow it to constantly track you
by dhduk on 2020/01/01 19:54
Unless you allow it to track your phone all day every day, on the (always) option in settings. It will stop working and will not even let you look back on your past months. What’s the point of all the time I wasted inputting my miles if I can’t even go back to see how many miles I put in that month? So useless and was a complete waste of my time. I wish I would’ve known sooner so I could just track them myself or find a different app. Now I have no idea of how many miles I put in and have to spend hours going back to check somehow. Also one random day it stopped letting me input the address I always use. It just didn’t show up therefore I couldn’t even add them for the app to calculate. I had to write my city name on both start and end and then calculate myself how many miles I was going so that I could write it in my description for later manual calculation. At that point I should have just stopped using the app and calculated myself in my spreadsheet. Now I can’t even see those descriptions because I can’t see the past months in its entirety. Super super frustrating.
Not overly thrilled
by betnct2 on 2018/04/03 00:32
For some reason this app on my iPhone 6 incorrectly interprets stopping at a long traffic light as the end of a trip. That can get frustrating after a while as I try to figure out what the purpose of the trip was when it shows me completing a journey at a completely random location than what the actual destination was. Also, I have found that after completing a trip, the app doesn’t record the journey right away. It takes some time before it actually shows up on the app as a trip. So after a day or so i end up wondering “now what was the purpose for my driving to that locality in town?” It would be nice if there could be more specific pinpointing of the actual ending point rather than a marker near a particular road where it said I ended my trip. More often than not, the ending marker is put on a blank tan space near a road. Not sure if it can get more gps specific. I do like the fact that I can customize the purposes for either the business or personal travels I make.
Recently switched over from another app
by Zoey fritz on 2018/06/04 01:16
I had been using two other apps, but one was really buggy, and the other was just a basic back-up plan with no fancy features to catch all the drives that the primary one was missing. I don't know if I can say the name here, but I had been trying to use MileCatcher and it was so inconsistent; it would start tracking my drives several miles in to the trip. Then it would go weeks without even being able to open. When I finally was able to open, all my drives were lost. So I signed up for the free trial with this one and decide to purchase the monthly subscription. So far it works way better, is consistent and reliable, and super easy to use. I deleted the buggy app, and got the drive logs exported from that back-up, so I can delete that one now too. great program! 👍

I have an outlook account that is tied to MileIQ. I have been trying to send summary reports to that email but I never receive them in my inbox, junk or spam. I decided to call this morning to help me get my reports. They said that there is a problem with emails being sent to an email that is outlook, live or hotmail. That means that if you have an email associated with any one of those you can not receive your reports. I asked the phone representative when this problem would be corrected. He said he wasn’t sure at all when it wold be fixed and they have been aware of this problem for some time. I asked if he could send the reports- he replied that he doesn’t have access to those because of privacy reasons. His only suggestion was to get another email account that is not outlook, live or hotmail. This is a huge market that they are not servicing and it doesn’t seem to be taken that seriously. I am going to somehow get my reports printed and then I am canceling MileIQ and going with another company that can email my reports that I have paid for in advance.
One annoying feature
by Agrophile on 2018/08/11 15:07
I love being able to automatically track my mileage when I’m visiting clients, and the ability to customize the purposes of my drives; I work two jobs (one FT and one seasonal) as an independent contractor and I like to be able to keep the mileage separate for both. The one thing I cannot stand about this app is that whenever you close it, if you have notifications allowed, you get a message saying, “Heads up! MileIQ has quit. Tap here or re-open the app to continue classifying your drives.” I just don’t understand - I mean, of course the app has quit, I just double-tapped my home button (iPhone) and swiped to close it. I had to do that deliberately in order to quit the app. Why do I need a reminder that it worked? This happens even when you’re completely caught up on your drives and have nothing to classify, making it even more of an unnecessary annoyance. So, developers, can we maybe reconsider that?
Not Worth It.
by 116musicdude on 2020/03/02 09:04
Only good thing about this app is it seems to track your total miles well. I am an Uber driver in Dallas Fort Worth. I have relied on this app for the past two years to track my business miles. Unfortunately, the app is not near accurate enough for my needs. Overlapping drives show up in the app saying I’m in two different places at one time. Drives don’t show up until between a half hour and a couple days later after I complete a drive. Stops aren’t recognized with accuracy. If you need to accurately track business and personal drives in a single day, with the tax laws nowadays I recommend you save your money and track your drives manually. As an Uber driver, I start and stop frequently, and this app just isn’t accurate and fast enough to handle it. If you’re going somewhere and stopping for 20 min or so before moving on, this app will work great. But if you’re dropping off, picking up etc. in intervals of 5-10 minutes, it’s just too much for this app to take, and all your driving will be lumped together.
One of the better mileage apps, just needs improvement.
by BJ0924 on 2018/10/17 18:48
This app is great. I was using Quickbooks and it missed a ton of my trips so I switched. This app has many more features. I like that you can classify frequent jobs. I’m a pet sitter some sometimes I drive to the same location three or four times a day. Two improvements regarding accuracy and I would rate this app 5 stars: 1. I want the app to highlight the route you took. Doesn’t seem like it should be that hard to implement. For example, sometimes it will log my starting and ending points both as home and since I don’t classify trips everyday I can’t remember where I went! 2. I want to be able to split trips. Sometimes I combine a personal and business related trip into one. If I do a pet check in while I out and about for personal reasons I can’t really count all of the mileage as business related. Still really enjoy the app, though!
Great, but misses some drives
by Delilah121 on 2019/01/03 16:53
Not often, but occasionally I notice that one of my drives isn’t there. It’s usually a case where it shows me coming home from somewhere, but how did I get there? (And no, it hasn’t been auto-classified as anything) Overall great though. An easy way to track drives without having to think about it. One other note: it could really use a “not in my car” option. The only way to not have it racked up for a write-off is to classify it as personal. I worry that casts suspicion on other drives to those locations. Also, I find it very offensive that under the “email notifications” setting, you can toggle on/off for weekly, monthly and “other” emails, but if you try to toggle off the promotional emails, it toggles it right back on. “You will receive our unsolicited emails and you will LIKE them!!” Not cool, not cool. Any update on that “not in my car” feature I mentioned?
Easy, Powerful Tool
by Jcdubyah on 2018/11/13 15:32
If you are like me, you simply don’t remember how much you drive if you for business purposes. What really surprised me were the simple trips to a nearby client. A few miles here and there quickly turn into hundreds of dollars that are so easy to forget. The great part about this app is that it does the thinking for you. And not being owned and operated by a fly-by-night company gives me peace of mind that at the end of the year the data will still be there. As far as how easy it is to use - just swipe for each trip - left for personal, right for business. Tolls, parking, and other notes are available with each swipe. At the end of your reimbursement cycle or at tax time, the data can be exported into a spreadsheet or PDF for detailed backup. Highly recommend.
Good Tracking - Missing some app features
by joedavenport on 2018/01/03 20:53
MileIQ is a quality app, but if I didn’t also have an Automatic Pro unit the data would be tough to decipher. If you visit locations in close proximity the app wants to merge the data, without providing you the option to specify that the new location is a different address than the previous location nearby. It’s also confusing why we can’t view previously classified drives in the app (you can online). I’d also like to be able to view a list of all the times and dates that I have visited a previous location. For example, I need to bill labor at Project 1, I want to select Project 1 from a list of classified locations and then see a list of all the drives associated with that address. Linking with our address book would be wise too so that our drives are stored with the correct address when we can’t park directly at the project.
Overall Great, but One Major Concern
by hdkr fidhshxyrnfkc on 2018/12/15 16:50
This app is a brilliant idea, and it’s certainly going to make thing easier come tax season. My biggest frustration is: I drive Lyft and live in a rural area, so I drive around 20 miles into town to start getting more rides. I’ll often get my first ride while I’m moving, and when I pick them up, I’m only stopped for about two minutes, so MileIQ doesn’t register the stop. I can’t claim the miles going into town or out of town (the IRS considers these a “commute”), but when I get home, I have one big, long drive to classify because I never stopped moving long enough. It’d be really nice to be able to go into each drive and manually break them into smaller ones when necessary. As it stands, I’m left trying to subtract about 40 miles from each day of my report by hand before calculating my taxes, which kind of defeats the purpose of the app.
Great app
by @ngel0fmusic on 2018/09/05 14:56
I have been using this app since April and it took some getting used to. But now that I’m getting the hang of it and being able to set things it has made it sooo easy to track my mileage. I use this app to track all my medical and charity and business mileage. It has been great to know that I don’t have to think about it. I too believe that there should be an option to be able to set reminders within the app to remember to classify the drives. A once a day or every other day type of reminder. Also it would be easier to track if the locations could have more pinpoint accuracy rather than the name of the neighborhood you went to. I have to look at the date and the time of day and try to remember what I was doing to try to remember if it’s business/charity/medical. Add these two features and I will definitely give it 5 stars.
Mile IQ Saves Time and a Headache
by Jackndabox420 on 2018/05/29 14:33
I was referred to MileIQ by my boss. I didn’t think too much since I thought writing would be more accurate. I was completely wrong! At times I would forget or just didn’t remember where I was. I even had my job question where I was or what I was doing on the clock at a different address. It was a building supply store I couldn’t remember weeks ago. Thank goodness for this app. It has helped me with a reminder for weekly or monthly reports and sends to the email. GPS is accurate and precise. I have not tried other mile apps but I can say I am still with this app and will most likely purchase the app to see if other features highlight the benefit of the monthly/yearly purchase. Thank You to the customer service who Actually responded to my concerns. Much appreciated, Gabe
Keeps track of driving very well
by Jfp2081 on 2017/11/17 01:28
Does a great job keeping track of driving. The one thing I wish is sometimes I make a quick stop and I notice I have to wait at the location for a few minutes (about 3-5 min) for the app to recognize this was a stop. Wish there was a way I could manually tell the app I’ve stopped and arrived at my destination in an effort to count it as a trip immediately. instead I have to wait for the app to internally recognize a stop has been made to then log the trip. Not a big deal because I usually do email or return a phone call while I wait for the app to show the trip, but would be better if I could log it immediately instead of working around the app software. In the end it’s easier than a scratchpad or manual log!
Pretty accurate, needs to get used to.
by WindozeGuru on 2017/12/02 04:23
Was put on to this app for making mileage tracking easier for expense reporting. Tried it mid week in the last week of November and was frustrated that it got several drives incomplete and from different locations than I was at. Example: stopped for gas on a business trip and lost the first half of the journey. On the flip side, it is easy to edit out mistakes on the web based screens @ MileIQ site. Found that once I named the 19 stops I frequent on trips during the month, it was a breeze to get the app to be a lot more accurate. Going to try this for the month of December and might buy an unlimited package. Forty drives will only last about ten working days as a network and computer field tech. Maybe the developers should consider an initial 80 drives for the first month and then forty after that (?).
Save time. Deduct more.
by Pazaz Wellness on 2018/02/06 23:01
I’ve had mileage deductions for years and it’s always been a hassle to keep track of it and/or go back and calculate. Not only does this make tracking easier, it makes me consider every drive—many is which I probably would have missed counting—and it tracks mileage if I get lost and take the long way. To the guy who’s complaining about missing stops...I have noticed that if I make a very brief stop—say to drop someone off or something—it doesn’t necessarily end the drive at that stop as it’s probably not much longer of a stop than a long stop light. But it’s still tracking the miles! There may be several “stops” in one drive. Still works for me. So thankful for this app! Totally worth the $ to not have to track on my own!!
Meh, for my purposes
by a62dave on 2020/02/15 16:34
I need to track mileage a few times a month, maybe three times in one week, then two weeks where I don’t need to track mileage, then two weeks where I might need to track mileage every other day, and sometimes on the weekend. My 40 free drives were used up pretty quickly, very few of which were business related. You can turn off automatic drive detection, for those weeks where it’s all personal, but then you have to remember to turn it back on. If you have business related drives nearly every day, then I would say this app is pretty good for that. Unless you customize everything, the end of month report is pretty generic. It lists the date, how many miles I drove from city to city. For my purposes, my existing Google Sheet does the job... at the end of the month, it IS the report, and I can be as specific with the trip type as I want to be.
Lacking key information not worth the price
by Californian 2 on 2017/12/30 15:42
The app tracks miles easily and is simple to use. The problem is that it is too simple in terms of data and functionality. It tells you in app only total drives, biz vs personal without mileage breakdown. You can have 55 personal drives of a mile each and 3 business drives of 160 miles each but the app makes it look like you have a lot more personal than biz use because the graphic will say 55 personal and 3 biz and even give a percentage based on that, when in reality you have a larger percentage of biz use than personal. If you accidentally categorize something the wrong way, you can’t change it! You have to wait until the end of the month, email the spreadsheet to yourself, find the drive and change the info but then it is only in your local report on your computer. If you resend the report from the app, it is still wrong. Also the reports are not presorted, so that is additional work you have to do. Not sure it is worth the price!
A REAL Assistant!
by Skeptical Deb on 2018/02/13 15:55
I’ve tried many apps that were supposed to “help“ me. But most eventually disappointed… Too hard to learn, too hard to use, too buggy... I tried mile IQ on a lark. I figured, it would be better than my scribbled notes on paper. Well, it’s definitely better than scribbled notes! My very favorite thing about mile IQ, is just getting into a car, going about my day, without giving mileage a second thought. No looking for paper upon which to scribble notes, no keeping those papers organized and available for monthly reports... what a relief. I have a busy life. It took me about six months at a new job to even give my Mile IQ reports a glance. But quickly, and easily, I was able to provide complete and accurate reports to my employer for reimbursement. Going back and filling in the details, was quite a challenge. Although mile IQ makes it incredibly easy to categorize drives, my memory fails after a few weeks. So, I do recommend that you try to stay up-to-date on classifying drives. It’s something I do at night, or in the morning, or as soon as I possibly can after a busy week. I wish all the tools I use to make my life more productive were as helpful as Mile IQ.
Great for business mileage/keeping track of your kids whereabouts
by Brawe Tax Manager on 2019/01/02 03:40
I highly recommend this app and do to all my tax clients. Being a tax preparer and having many clients who need to keep their business mileage and good record keeping, I always recommend this app. I recommend it so much I should be getting it free!!! Lol. Seriously this app is a no brainer and worth the little extra I pay a month and also very good because I have it on my sons phone who is 9. His is connected to my phone so I see where all he goes when he is on the bus, with his dad or friends and if he was to ever be taken or go somewhere he doesn’t belong I would at least have some idea where to look. Such a good thing and wasn’t planning it for that but very helpful.
Work tool
by iTaLL4@££ on 2017/11/28 13:36
Purchased this MileIQ app for a new job. Tracking my work vs personal driving was critically important to me and this App has become an invaluable tool. I cannot use this app directly for reporting mileage to the office - but - it has saved my tail a few times when I desperately needed a reference point. The detailed reporting is amazing. MileIQ has save me not only time but money, for example, I'd vaguely recall a series of drives through a week/weekend but never really confident because each time I rethink the route, I'd almost always remember another stop that was not previously counted. That is time consuming and frustrating, MileIQ is NONE of those things :) MileIQ is very user friendly. I'm able to easily access recent road trips, develop personal cataloging information, all combined with a simple (.pdf) export feature... what more could you ask for? Don't tell the developers, but I would have paid WAY more money to have saved this much time. I drive >30,000 miles each year, I'm confident that those miles will be accurately logged from here on out. Another satisfied customer looking to share my personal experience with MileIQ. Thanks!
Saves me HOURS every month!
by MN_Salesguy on 2019/09/09 11:49
This app saves me hours every month when I do my expense report and mileage log! It catches drives that would’ve otherwise been forgotten and he is able to produce a CSV file that I can dump right into excel. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five, is that I would like the available input/output fields to be customizable and arrangeable so the report that is generated more closely mirrors my company’s expense report/mileage log. I understand that the fields generated are the ones required for tax purposes so including them in the report would still be important, but I would rather be able to sort or eliminate them from the custom CSV report. I would also like to see a box added for expenses other than parking, though it is not directly related to mileage.
Easy but needs improvement
by THellwinckel on 2019/01/31 22:31
My drives aren’t being logged even though drive detection is on because some of my drives are less than 1/2 mile, so I have to log these in manually. Also the edit feature doesn’t allow me to change the date, time, or location. I’m human and I hit the wrong button sometimes when I am manually logging trips. When I was trying to log trips for the month, I forgot a few times that the date automatically set to today then after I saved, I couldn’t go back and change it. Also, one of my locations was very close to my office and the app put the address as my office even though that’s not what I typed. I can’t change it. I’m willing to delete those trips and redo them, but I don’t see a way to delete. I’m waiting a full month to see if this app is worth the 60 bucks a year.
Must have for certain jobs!
by III Equinox III on 2018/05/28 01:55
I’m an installation and service technician, so my job requires me to drive quite a bit from house to house, sometimes building up to around 2.5 hours of driving every day. Fortunately, because I’m driving so much for work, I’ll be able to take advantage of the tax implications. However, keeping track of all of the driving I do would be nearly impossible, most certainly stressful, and too time consuming to do myself. This app is incredible, especially since I don’t need to have it open all the time or initiate something when I begin driving. It just tracks and automatically detects when and where I’m going. Invaluable - $6/month is more than fair for the unlimited plan.
Number one in purpose, sometimes flaky!
by RandynNC on 2020/10/23 09:25
Before today I would’ve rated this app 5+out of 5! But classifying this week’s drives I encountered at least 5 drives I never made! I sent them in for review, we’ll see what happens! But otherwise, this software is worth its effort in tracking mileage that an absent-minded individual don’t always track in his business! So without it I would lose hundreds of dollars a week in lost revenue for not tracking start/stop mileage! And I’ll still give it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone needing to track their mileage for billing and tax purposes! UPDATE - Within a day of posting this review I had an email asking me to contact their support desk for further scrutinizing of these ghost runs. Since they were such small potatoes in mileage I responded that it simply wasn’t worth the added effort, but thanked them for their prompt response! Would I purchase this software again? In a heartbeat! If you travel in your profession as G’s need to track mileage this is one Microsoft product that one can’t live without!!! Kudos to the team(s) that were wrote & support this product!!!
Consistently 20% off of my actual mileage
by gotbrains? on 2019/12/21 18:46
I’ve been testing the paid version this last month driving for Uber and Lyft and the daily mileage compared to my odometer is always about 20% short. From MileIQ: You will notice a difference in mileage if you are comparing the mileage to a navigation application. MileIQ tracks differently than a GPS tracker. MileIQ tracks the start and end point of every drive and generates the most likely route that was taken, which is usually the fastest time/route. What this means is that MileIQ does not actually track the route you drive, rather it tracks the most likely route between point A and B. This method doesn’t work for Rideshare because there is not enough wait time to register the end of a trip(it takes a few minutes). And multiple trips are combined into a single trip With one start and endpoint. I find the app Hurdlr to be much more accurate (within about 4%) even though they also combine trips.
It is great, but it works like a teenager, when it wants to
by Jon Sig on 2020/06/18 03:52
Overall it has found most of my drives and made categorizing them easy. But... it is far from failsafe. It has just stopped recording drives a few times and the only way to fix it has been to uninstall and start over. It has missed more than a few drives. Okay I guess when you are running to the store, not okay when you drove 45 miles each way to meet a client. Neither is okay actually as your mileage log is hogwash. It sometimes categorizes walks as drives... I think I walk quick, but my even my sprint isn’t drive like... I’ve decided to try some other similar apps. If they can’t get things straight maybe I’ll be back, maybe I’ll go back to paper. Oh how the idea of a swipe right or left to track miles was a great idea.
Updated review
by rldelga on 2017/11/01 03:04
It was very frustrating trying to get ahold of a person when I couldn’t log into my account, and emails weren’t going through. It took 24 hours (on a weekday, not a holiday) to get a response, and once I got an email, I finally got password reset emails as well. It was very frustrating, but once someone responded, by issues were fixed quickly, and I no longer have a problem. The app saves a lot of time and generally works well, but you need to pay attention to your drives because occasionally the app will miss a couple, and you need to manually input them. It works well for me, as a freelance designer with most drives under 5 miles, but I could see it being problematic for someone that drives a lot more. Overall I’m pretty happy
Great App but...
by toohottocare on 2018/02/14 06:10
When I find a discrepancy, it cannot be fixed with the phone app. I have to use a computer to go online into the Dashboard to correct them. I can’t even log in via a browser on my phone! There is no place to log in from my phone. So it’s quite inconvenient to have to find a computer to use when I’m traveling. All features should be accessible through the MileIQ app! That being said, I contacted support regarding an issue. I was contacted within 24 hours with a support person who really cared about my issue and was willing to go the extra mile (no pun intended 😬). However, my issue as stated above can only be fixed via computer not through the app. So still no resolution. But I do like the app. Much easier than logging miles!
