Good app but double reports drives
by Elexman on 2019/06/14 15:21
Overall, the app is good, but not great. Way too often the app double reports the same drive. From time to time the app will fragment the drive and also include the entire drive as well. Though I didn’t find a setup or configuration error, I won’t exclude that possibility. It should be easier to review accepted drives for accuracy. This app is pretty good, just be aware when categorizing the drives, it is easy to just accept a day’s drives, including double reported and fragmented occurrences, creating inaccurate reports.
Can’t access my app!
by canyousonicmedoctor on 2019/06/14 10:51
I paid the $60 for a yearly subscription, but for the last five days I have been unable to classify any drives. Whenever I try to log in I get a message saying that it can’t access accounts right now and to try again later. Well I’ve been trying for five days! Im pretty fed up seeing as I paid money and now can’t use the app at all!

Simple and Easy
by Cootzforet on 2019/06/12 21:02
This app makes keeping track of mileage simple and easy. It’s simple in that you just swipe left for Personal and right for Business. It’s easy because it remembers the trips. You don’t have note your mileage. It keeps track of every trip you take.
by Hurstn on 2019/06/12 05:28
This App is very easy to use I love that I can just swipe it to classify rather it’s personal or business it does cost money to continue to use it but it’s well worth it to help organize yourself so that you don’t have to worry about forgetting to log the miles that you already drove.
User friendly very convenient
by J Todd Tinsley on 2019/06/11 14:10
Allows me to keep business and personal mileage separate. Like it so far I am a new user.

Easy to use and has paid for itself
by Steve from KC on 2019/06/10 22:41
So easy to use and tracks all the mileage I normally wouldn’t claim and this has paid for itself. I really enjoy the seamless integration with Concur which my company uses for expenses
It’s learning
by speek painting on 2019/06/10 12:39
This app is great! The longer I use it daily for work the more it learns which drives are personal or business. I don’t have a set work hour/day so I have to go in and swipe left and right daily. The auto save feature makes it so now on average 50% or more of my drives after 4 months are automatically allocated to business or personal. I’m sure over time it will learn more.
Changed My Habits for the Best
by Bclark on 2019/06/08 11:50
I remember my parents keeping mileage logs when we were kids back in the 90s in Little mileage booklets kept in the glovebox. I always struggled to properly track business miles u til I found this app about 3 years ago. Completely changed my process for the best. The app keeps getting better and better.
Love it
by maya0077 on 2019/06/08 01:26
Exactly what I need. Easy to use.
Wish it was a little more intuitive
by cmt_la on 2019/06/07 22:50
Great app and tracks drives like a charm. However the swiping function is sometimes a bit confusing, and I wish you could change the date of manually inputted drives after creating them.
by scooch4962 on 2019/06/07 18:30
Very easy to use and very easy to use
by GLW2891 on 2019/06/07 03:35
MileIQ works great for me “except” the fact that I’m always being asked to auto-classify drives. I drive so much and to many of the same places; however, sometimes these destinations are for business and other times for personal reasons. If I want to auto-classify a drive, it would be much more convenient for me to do it on my own initiative instead of being prompted numerous times every week for the same drives. This is getting on my nerves. Other than that, I love that MileIQ tracks my drives for me according to GPS signal and motion. Could you please remove the auto-classify prompting?
Accurate and Reliable!
by iPodX7 on 2019/06/07 00:01
I’ve tried several apps that track mileage but by far I love this one. It’s very user friendly and simple to use. I love QuickBooks Self-Employed as well but I would prefer MileIQ just because it doesn’t take long to register the trip. I have already timed it and MileIQ wins by far. And it even knows when you get home too which is pretty cool. But I would definitely recommend this one for sure!
Family sharing
by Myrtle Beach Realtor Guy on 2019/06/06 15:26
Really love the app. The only thing I would add is family sharing. My wife and I both drive a lot for our jobs and it would be great if we could both use it under one account.

Salesperson’s Best Friend
by Jpreshy on 2019/06/05 00:27
This is a must for the independent contractor, outside salesperson. Track mileage. Gas. Personal vs business drives documented and classified. Quick & accurate. Customize it. Takes two minutes. No more written log. No nothing! The best.
by Historick on 2019/06/04 20:53
The app is not intuitive - it hangs repeatedly & must be shut off- it requires a login every time you want to use it Crashes my phone when used
Renew subscription warning
by JefenTere on 2019/06/04 18:51
It’s a good app. But they like to take your money when it comes to renewing your subscription. Yes I scheduled to renew my annual subscription automatically, but I forgot about that. And then they renewed my subscription without any kind of advanced notification. Why, cuz they want my money. And now I can’t get a refund because it already renewed. Even though I never used it since I renewed it. Now I’m paying for something that I’m not even using anymore. Customer service is not a priority for them, because they took my money and ran. And now there’s no way I can get it back.
I recommend this app
by Jetg951415 on 2019/06/04 18:35
This app is very simple and easy to use, I can even go back later to label a drive or correct a mislabeling. I can add different vehicles in the app for when I am not in my car, but still need to track mileage and driving
A Must!!

Do you like Mike IQ? Yes. Opens link to App Store. No. Badgering is bad.
by MSchluter on 2019/06/02 18:50
As a sales person in food distribution, I put a ton of mileage on my vehicle, and this helped me immensely with tracking my miles - so simply. I never needed to spend time tracking my business/personal miles via a speedometer, like the old days. This does it with accuracy! It even worked internationally! I can’t imagine doing my taxes with the aid of this tool! Got an amazing return this year despite the change in how much it takes to claim mileage. Made it just over the requirement, and now able to prove it with this tracker!

Needs tweak on reports
by LilyMcGilly on 2019/05/27 14:00
Needs to be able to gather a sub-group of drives related to work within a given month and create a report. For example, business miles specific to a client. If anyone knows how would love to see it. Otherwise, it’s brilliant. 👍🏻
Easy and accurate
by rke632 on 2019/05/26 21:32
Only been using it for a couple days but pretty easy and seems quite accurate. Need to keep business miles for taxes and hope this is going to do the trick.
by Capt. Kid on 2019/05/24 01:13
App is hit or miss, sometimes it will clock your drives accurately sometimes no.. one thing that is for sure that the times are going to be wrong.. I’ve had the app not record until hours later and then it puts the current time on it.. I have a drive from 7hours ago that still hasn’t been recorded.. it may or may not come in it the morning with the wrong time on it.. the developers of this app could do a much better job with the app.. it could be a lot more accurate..
Awesome App

by MarcelloLuzi on 2019/05/22 23:23
It makes tracking mileage so easy and simple. Record date, time, miles, locations and everything the IRS needs and wants. It has made the task of recording mileage so much simpler, and it has more than paid for itself in the mileage that wasn’t tracked because you forgot.

by derb86 on 2019/05/20 12:53
This app is super easy to use and very accurate. So nice to be able to simply classify all your drives from an automatic log that it kept for you. Cuts keeping track of mileage to a fraction and helps you do more important things quicker!
Awesome app!
by noahjkatz on 2019/05/20 11:49
Been using this for years and it keeps getting better. Love that I groups drives for there and back which I do often. Also the ability to turn the auto detect off while on a trip is great. Totally worth the money! I know I wouldn’t be tracking as much mileage otherwise.
by Out there boy on 2019/05/19 23:26
I use this with no problem until I pay for The unlimited drives. Now when I try to go into the app it just hangs up on loading. If I try to delete so I can download again it says it will delete all the data. Why is my account to my tied to the app? I should be able to delete and download again and sign in to see all my data.
by martymichigan on 2019/05/19 20:54
As easy as it gets, was using another mile tracker and hated it switched to MileIQ and WOW! Love this app
Terrible over-reach of privacy
by kurtmassey on 2019/05/18 22:24
Microsoft manipulates you to download the app then they break the news you only get 40 trips free a month or you have to pay $6 or $60 a year. Then it harasses you to leave the gps tracking on ALL THE TIME regardless of your activity. So it basically gets your information then makes it impossible to use without giving up all your privacy in every way. Might as well have a free live camera feed to give them a live show of your life all the while you are paying them to be part of their study. Its backwards Microsoft. You pay people to participate in your people tracking or give two options. Complete over reach.

Makes my sales life easier by separating business trips in summary!
by HellRisenLali on 2019/05/14 00:53
I made a four hour business trip and had the app open to track my miles and well it didn’t track anything. As a matter of fact it rarely tracks anything, but it did track .5 miles of a 30 minute trip. I emailed customer service about this because apparently this app is the only app that my location doesn’t work on even though I have it set to always be using. They pretty much said they couldn’t do anything about it. Just a little too frustrating for me.
by Mandax27 on 2019/05/13 15:44
Will not properly capture drives across the state and there is no way to add drives.
Not as accurate as it used to be
by Thisthatandtheothrrr on 2019/05/12 21:14
I have been a subscriber for a couple years. Generally it was pretty decent but lately the app had missed a number of drives- business drives no less. In the last 2 weeks it’s missed upwards of 6. I have had days with zero drives showing but I absolutely was on the road. For a paid app that I can’t rely on, I’m looking for alternatives to drop it.
Great app!

I've been using this app for a year. I'm a nurse and I travel the city, sometimes upwards of 200 miles per day. I love how it works in the background and easily creates my mileage reports. One of the features for which I am most grateful is the ability to set business days and the hours, since I work Friday Saturday and Sundays 9-9. That way I'm not having to wade through multiple personal drives trying to find my work miles.

Easy Peasy Just Needs Two Little Improvements
by Charmed Life 9 on 2018/05/30 14:23
I love this app and I use it all the time to track my business mileage. Easy as can be. You just swipe one way for biz and the other way for personal. It’s nice to see all your deductions adding up in the upper right corner. As for the improvements I’d like to see, I wish it was more accurate and it could pinpoint at least major landmarks like Costco or local schools. Sometimes once I’ve named a place, it says I was at that place if I was a couple blocks away. That makes it hard to be completely accurate in my tracking. For instance I named one of my kid’s schools and it thought I was there when I was going an open house at one of my listings a couple blocks away. One is business, one is personal. The other helpful update might be to have it remind you to track if you don’t do it for a couple days. As a Realtor I go so many places, if I get a few days behind I have no idea what his business and what is personal. I wouldn’t even mind a reminder every time I get out of the car, or at least every time I get home. I have a reminder set to delete texts and log mileage at the end of each day, but something from the app when I don’t do it would be great. That should probably be an optional feature because I know that would bug some people. Overall, thank you so much for making it easy to keep track of miles and get the tax write-offs. Well done!
About as simple as it gets!
by 4cinema on 2018/03/02 12:33
I’ve been using this app for about 3 months now and, quite frankly, this is one of the best apps ever created. It works flawlessly and completely automatic in the background of your mobile device. It has logged every single drive I have made since I started using it. And the join feature works great to tie together all of those trips that have minor detours along the way to your destination like getting off the interstate to get gas or food or for an overnight stay. Couple that feature with the simple swipe left or right to categorize a drive as personal or business and this is just about the easiest, most effective app I have ever used period. Seriously, if you aren’t using MileIQ to track your business mileage, you need to start using today. Just make sure you’ve set-up all your data and vehicle info before taking your first drive. I suggest doing a test drive just to be sure it is capturing your drives automatically. When I first started, it missed a few initial trips because I did not have my vehicle information set-up completely. But once you are sure it is automatically capturing each drive, you are good to go. This app is about as perfect in form and function and usefulness as it gets. Try it today, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to use this app. Pure Genius!
Good Luck
by Lazy Is Expensive on 2017/09/06 11:35
Missing several trips every day. I've used this for 17 months. I referred my friend who cancelled it immediately cause he paid close attention to his drives. I decided to check myself. Well, he was right. Not sure how many thousands of dollars I lost last year on taxes. Go back to pen and paper. Lazy will cost you big time. It says it tracks drives over half a mile. Well, I'm losing those half mile stops as well as many of them that are several miles. Just went through my drives and found 2 discrepancies within my first two hours of work."UPDATE" 9/5/17 Day two in a row. It shows a stop at 9:16am and the next starting point 10:38am about 20+ miles away. I made 3 stops between that time period. About 7 mile drives. I don't want to hear about being my phone service. If anyone in the world lost service for more than 8 seconds they'd pull over and freak out till it's fixed. Never mind 1.25 hours in the middle of town. If you make many stops like myself you can very simply check accuracy and making sure all your stopping points are also your next starting point. I don't ever make a big deal out of things, but at this rate I'm probably out about $7,500 worth of mileage last year and more this year. That's a big deal for anyone. I will continue this week and after every stop I will make sure I have a solid 5 bar internet connection before starting my drives. If there's a single day of accuracy I will update this again on Saturday this week.
Missing Key Features
by RealNewRu on 2018/01/25 20:43
I really love the concept behind this app—the simplicity of swiping to classify miles. This is the first job I’ve had where I need to keep track of business miles and it can be daunting to do so each and every day. I thought Mile IQ was going to be a great solution, however I see 4 key problems that keep me from ever wanting to pay for the app. 1.) I cannot seem to find a way to view miles by DAY. I only see an option for monthly reports and my job requires that I record miles personal vs. business by the day. 2.) On top of that, I don’t want reports to be sent to my email. My life is busy enough. Do you think I want more emails? Isn’t that the whole purpose of Mile IQ is to save time..not add more to my plate? Why can’t you just view your mileage breakdown on the app? Finance apps like Mint allow you to break down your spending categories by day, so I know it’s not impossible or too complicated. 3.) When you try to view the maps for each drive, there are no business names or landmarks that show up. Sometimes I cannot remember where I went next and I would be counting on the map locations to tell me. 4.) 40 drives free is not very many at all. That seems extremely low. I think the app is a great idea..but it needs to be executed much better.
Fire Protection Inspector
by JeremyNoll on 2018/01/27 21:56
I am an inspector for a company that installs, designs & does inspections on fire suppression systems. I drive a lot, all day long from job to job, so mileage is a big part on the job. So far I have found the app great, though the frequent drives option doesn’t work that great and the work hours feature doesn’t allow you to edit those drives as it automatically logs them without any input on your part, which I do not like. Wish when it auto logs a drive, that it would still pop up and say “we just logged a business drive, is this correct? Would you like to add anything to this drive?” Same goes with a personal drive. Also, when in a drive from one job to the next or from the job to home, if you stop at a store or gas station, the app will stop that drive and when you start driving again it will start an entire new drive, I wish you had the option to continue the drive so therefore it would be logged together as one simple drive and not several different logs which you have to go back and calculate. I think if they fixed these minor issues this app would be top notch.
Generally great, but with flaws
by AcuDrew on 2019/02/19 12:43
Love how this app collects info on drives automatically, then classifying those trips into the most generic “business” heading is pretty easy, and generally pretty accurate. Issues though: In the app there is no longer a way to join drives (someone put the AutoClassify button in front of the Join Drives button—beta testing anyone?) you have to go to the website. Also, I when I delete drives (I’m only tracking business mileage, not my whole life) I have to say why. Every...single...time. Plus, there seems to be no way to differentiate different types of business drives (e.g. errands vs deliveries) unless you go (again) to the website. The website should be for advanced reporting activities, not for super basic trip categorization stuff. Otherwise would have been 4-5 stars... Missing feature: I go to customers both to check inventory AND to make deliveries (business), and also to shop (personal). Therefore, “auto classify“ is useless to me if I want to differentiate the two business activities, and not count the personal miles to the same location . It would become useful to me if I could identify the two (or three) reasons I go to places, MileIQ could come to me when it recognizes a similar trip for me to identify which reason I’ve gone there...
Could more TAX friendly
by johncdali on 2018/01/23 05:00
Love the app and it records my drives fairly accurately. Sometimes when I come home from work and stop at the house for less than five minutes to change into my gym clothes .... it will record my travel from work to home and then from home to the gym as one trip. I simply make a note of that so that I can reconcile it later. From a tax perspective, if you were taking “actual expenses” instead of “mileage” as your deduction.... you need to know the percentage of business miles out of all of your vehicle mileage. The app doesn’t calculate this automatically for you. The circle graph the app displays just simply gives you business trips versus personal trips. This is useless data from a tax deduction perspective. If you are going to take “actual expenses” as a deduction on your taxes the calculation vehicle expenses multiplied by percent business miles traveled. The app makes you calculate that percentage from data presented on a spreadsheet on your own which is inconvenient and possibly cumbersome in some circumstances. I wish the developers would have sought the advice of some expert Tax Attorneys in the development of the app.
Seems to work, but...
by FilmGo2Guy on 2017/10/17 14:21
It seems to work and the interface is easy. I like to App’s ability to learn and auto classify frequent drives. However, much like a previous user’s review, I too am seeing a discrepancy in the accuracy and missing drives. The locations it identifies are not always accurate which makes it difficult to identify the actual location where the software picked up the Start or End of a drive. This a serious credibility issue. My second complaint is the inability to categorize personal charity drives. I work with different charities MileIQ prohibits assigning a deductible $ amount for separate charity. The user can create a separate listing for each charity, but is not allowed to assign the mileage rate. Even though the total mileage is tallied, the user must do the math manually at the end of each month or at the end of the year. But isn’t that the point of the having the App do the work? I do a lot of charity work and the App forces all charities to be grouped under the title of “Charity” if the user wants automatic mileage calculations for IRS Tax purposes. I have discussed this with customer support several times and they don’t appear to care. Makes me wonder if they actually understand how it works in the real world of small business and tax codes.
If you’re looking for less work, this may not be it
by Rgoks on 2019/01/09 18:24
My boss said use it, so I am. We were still logging miles on paper. Service company where my home is my office, start and stop point for the day. I know the mileage to most of my customers and this app is accurate about half the time. If you make a detour stop along the way, make sure the app knows. I went out of my way to pick up parts and then to the customer site. MileIQ listed the direct mileage of 37 from home to the customer, when I actually drove 58 miles. I had to delete the trip and create two new ones to even get close. It does not seem to use the gps during the trip, it just seems to record the location when you stop for more than a few minutes. So it might see you stopped for a long train, but you could go 50 miles out of your way for coffee and the extra miles might never be recorded. Also, something weird happened yesterday. I went to a customer in the city, then to one in the suburbs. MileIQ said I stopped on the freeway several miles outside downtown and then turned around a few hours later and went from the same location on the freeway to the second customer.
As User-Friendly As It Gets
by Ashlyn's Mama on 2018/04/02 16:43
I absolutely LOVE this app!! MikeIQ makes it SO easy to classify and keep track of the miles you drive for business so there’s no headache figuring out your mileage at tax time every April. It breaks down your drives by month and creates a year-end report for you as well. MileIQ also allows you to create your own sub-classifications for your drives (i.e. Business meeting with customers, medical appointments, office supplies, kid’s sporting events, school drop off/pick ups, etc.) and since the IRS assigns different deduction amounts per mile based upon the drive (drive for client meeting vs. medical appointment have different rates per mile with the IRS), there really is no way to screw up your tax deductions. This app is a lifesaver and one less business expense deduction hassle I have to calculate and keep track of myself each year. I absolutely recommend this app to anyone in need of keeping track of the miles you put on your car/driven every month for tax related purposes. Easily 5 Stars!!
by Work-A-Haulic on 2017/09/16 09:59
I have been using mileage IQ for about seven months. I started working for a company that had promised me a Company car as part of my position. The company had a policy of not paying any of their employees for personal use of their vehicles. But, because mileage IQ is so professional, accurate and detailed, I've been able to get paid for all my business mileage over the last seven months. I simply told them that this will be temporary until I receive my company vehicle that they promised. After talking with other employees I realize that I would never get a company vehicle. If you work for a sleazy company that wants to cheat you on your mileage, you can simply keep this documentation until you leave the company. This will stand up in court and you can file a small claims lawsuit for $150. With this type of documentation your case will be a slamdunk in court. Enjoy suing your x-employer with the help of mileage IQ.!!!
Not overly thrilled
by betnct2 on 2018/04/03 00:32
For some reason this app on my iPhone 6 incorrectly interprets stopping at a long traffic light as the end of a trip. That can get frustrating after a while as I try to figure out what the purpose of the trip was when it shows me completing a journey at a completely random location than what the actual destination was. Also, I have found that after completing a trip, the app doesn’t record the journey right away. It takes some time before it actually shows up on the app as a trip. So after a day or so i end up wondering “now what was the purpose for my driving to that locality in town?” It would be nice if there could be more specific pinpointing of the actual ending point rather than a marker near a particular road where it said I ended my trip. More often than not, the ending marker is put on a blank tan space near a road. Not sure if it can get more gps specific. I do like the fact that I can customize the purposes for either the business or personal travels I make.
Horrible - Misses Drives, Shows Me In Ocean!
by EastCoastShooter on 2017/10/05 04:48
Thought this would be great, and for the drives it actually captures it is okay. Initially I had high expectations but so disappointed after seven months of use. Shows me stopping in subdivisions I've never been in, destinations way off, sometimes in the Atlantic Ocean, middle of a bridge, or having driven off road and into the Chesapeake Bay. Today it tracked me to a stop I made enroute to my final destination. Failed to track when I left there, traveled another 7 miles. Was at that job site for six hours. It never detected that I left and returned to my office. I'd say it captures between 50 to 60 percent of my miles. So glad I didn't buy it for the other driver in my company. I would only recommend this to someone for whom I wanted to cause frustration. Not worth the price, adds more work to my day because now I have to figure out what it missed, easier to just write the drives down manually. Which makes this app worthless. Tech support says to keep WIFI on, tried that, it makes no difference, there is no wifi in the Atlantic Ocean.
One annoying feature
by Agrophile on 2018/08/11 15:07
I love being able to automatically track my mileage when I’m visiting clients, and the ability to customize the purposes of my drives; I work two jobs (one FT and one seasonal) as an independent contractor and I like to be able to keep the mileage separate for both. The one thing I cannot stand about this app is that whenever you close it, if you have notifications allowed, you get a message saying, “Heads up! MileIQ has quit. Tap here or re-open the app to continue classifying your drives.” I just don’t understand - I mean, of course the app has quit, I just double-tapped my home button (iPhone) and swiped to close it. I had to do that deliberately in order to quit the app. Why do I need a reminder that it worked? This happens even when you’re completely caught up on your drives and have nothing to classify, making it even more of an unnecessary annoyance. So, developers, can we maybe reconsider that?
One of the better mileage apps, just needs improvement.
by BJ0924 on 2018/10/17 18:48
This app is great. I was using Quickbooks and it missed a ton of my trips so I switched. This app has many more features. I like that you can classify frequent jobs. I’m a pet sitter some sometimes I drive to the same location three or four times a day. Two improvements regarding accuracy and I would rate this app 5 stars: 1. I want the app to highlight the route you took. Doesn’t seem like it should be that hard to implement. For example, sometimes it will log my starting and ending points both as home and since I don’t classify trips everyday I can’t remember where I went! 2. I want to be able to split trips. Sometimes I combine a personal and business related trip into one. If I do a pet check in while I out and about for personal reasons I can’t really count all of the mileage as business related. Still really enjoy the app, though!
Great, but misses some drives
by Delilah121 on 2019/01/03 16:53
Not often, but occasionally I notice that one of my drives isn’t there. It’s usually a case where it shows me coming home from somewhere, but how did I get there? (And no, it hasn’t been auto-classified as anything) Overall great though. An easy way to track drives without having to think about it. One other note: it could really use a “not in my car” option. The only way to not have it racked up for a write-off is to classify it as personal. I worry that casts suspicion on other drives to those locations. Also, I find it very offensive that under the “email notifications” setting, you can toggle on/off for weekly, monthly and “other” emails, but if you try to toggle off the promotional emails, it toggles it right back on. “You will receive our unsolicited emails and you will LIKE them!!” Not cool, not cool. Any update on that “not in my car” feature I mentioned?
Recently switched over from another app
by Zoey fritz on 2018/06/04 01:16
I had been using two other apps, but one was really buggy, and the other was just a basic back-up plan with no fancy features to catch all the drives that the primary one was missing. I don't know if I can say the name here, but I had been trying to use MileCatcher and it was so inconsistent; it would start tracking my drives several miles in to the trip. Then it would go weeks without even being able to open. When I finally was able to open, all my drives were lost. So I signed up for the free trial with this one and decide to purchase the monthly subscription. So far it works way better, is consistent and reliable, and super easy to use. I deleted the buggy app, and got the drive logs exported from that back-up, so I can delete that one now too. great program! 👍
Good Tracking - Missing some app features
by joedavenport on 2018/01/03 20:53
MileIQ is a quality app, but if I didn’t also have an Automatic Pro unit the data would be tough to decipher. If you visit locations in close proximity the app wants to merge the data, without providing you the option to specify that the new location is a different address than the previous location nearby. It’s also confusing why we can’t view previously classified drives in the app (you can online). I’d also like to be able to view a list of all the times and dates that I have visited a previous location. For example, I need to bill labor at Project 1, I want to select Project 1 from a list of classified locations and then see a list of all the drives associated with that address. Linking with our address book would be wise too so that our drives are stored with the correct address when we can’t park directly at the project.
Overall Great, but One Major Concern
by hdkr fidhshxyrnfkc on 2018/12/15 16:50
This app is a brilliant idea, and it’s certainly going to make thing easier come tax season. My biggest frustration is: I drive Lyft and live in a rural area, so I drive around 20 miles into town to start getting more rides. I’ll often get my first ride while I’m moving, and when I pick them up, I’m only stopped for about two minutes, so MileIQ doesn’t register the stop. I can’t claim the miles going into town or out of town (the IRS considers these a “commute”), but when I get home, I have one big, long drive to classify because I never stopped moving long enough. It’d be really nice to be able to go into each drive and manually break them into smaller ones when necessary. As it stands, I’m left trying to subtract about 40 miles from each day of my report by hand before calculating my taxes, which kind of defeats the purpose of the app.
Mile IQ Saves Time and a Headache
by Jackndabox420 on 2018/05/29 14:33
I was referred to MileIQ by my boss. I didn’t think too much since I thought writing would be more accurate. I was completely wrong! At times I would forget or just didn’t remember where I was. I even had my job question where I was or what I was doing on the clock at a different address. It was a building supply store I couldn’t remember weeks ago. Thank goodness for this app. It has helped me with a reminder for weekly or monthly reports and sends to the email. GPS is accurate and precise. I have not tried other mile apps but I can say I am still with this app and will most likely purchase the app to see if other features highlight the benefit of the monthly/yearly purchase. Thank You to the customer service who Actually responded to my concerns. Much appreciated, Gabe
Great app
by @ngel0fmusic on 2018/09/05 14:56
I have been using this app since April and it took some getting used to. But now that I’m getting the hang of it and being able to set things it has made it sooo easy to track my mileage. I use this app to track all my medical and charity and business mileage. It has been great to know that I don’t have to think about it. I too believe that there should be an option to be able to set reminders within the app to remember to classify the drives. A once a day or every other day type of reminder. Also it would be easier to track if the locations could have more pinpoint accuracy rather than the name of the neighborhood you went to. I have to look at the date and the time of day and try to remember what I was doing to try to remember if it’s business/charity/medical. Add these two features and I will definitely give it 5 stars.
Easy, Powerful Tool
by Jcdubyah on 2018/11/13 15:32
If you are like me, you simply don’t remember how much you drive if you for business purposes. What really surprised me were the simple trips to a nearby client. A few miles here and there quickly turn into hundreds of dollars that are so easy to forget. The great part about this app is that it does the thinking for you. And not being owned and operated by a fly-by-night company gives me peace of mind that at the end of the year the data will still be there. As far as how easy it is to use - just swipe for each trip - left for personal, right for business. Tolls, parking, and other notes are available with each swipe. At the end of your reimbursement cycle or at tax time, the data can be exported into a spreadsheet or PDF for detailed backup. Highly recommend.
Keeps track of driving very well
by Jfp2081 on 2017/11/17 01:28
Does a great job keeping track of driving. The one thing I wish is sometimes I make a quick stop and I notice I have to wait at the location for a few minutes (about 3-5 min) for the app to recognize this was a stop. Wish there was a way I could manually tell the app I’ve stopped and arrived at my destination in an effort to count it as a trip immediately. instead I have to wait for the app to internally recognize a stop has been made to then log the trip. Not a big deal because I usually do email or return a phone call while I wait for the app to show the trip, but would be better if I could log it immediately instead of working around the app software. In the end it’s easier than a scratchpad or manual log!
Lacking key information not worth the price
by Californian 2 on 2017/12/30 15:42
The app tracks miles easily and is simple to use. The problem is that it is too simple in terms of data and functionality. It tells you in app only total drives, biz vs personal without mileage breakdown. You can have 55 personal drives of a mile each and 3 business drives of 160 miles each but the app makes it look like you have a lot more personal than biz use because the graphic will say 55 personal and 3 biz and even give a percentage based on that, when in reality you have a larger percentage of biz use than personal. If you accidentally categorize something the wrong way, you can’t change it! You have to wait until the end of the month, email the spreadsheet to yourself, find the drive and change the info but then it is only in your local report on your computer. If you resend the report from the app, it is still wrong. Also the reports are not presorted, so that is additional work you have to do. Not sure it is worth the price!
Pretty accurate, needs to get used to.
by WindozeGuru on 2017/12/02 04:23
Was put on to this app for making mileage tracking easier for expense reporting. Tried it mid week in the last week of November and was frustrated that it got several drives incomplete and from different locations than I was at. Example: stopped for gas on a business trip and lost the first half of the journey. On the flip side, it is easy to edit out mistakes on the web based screens @ MileIQ site. Found that once I named the 19 stops I frequent on trips during the month, it was a breeze to get the app to be a lot more accurate. Going to try this for the month of December and might buy an unlimited package. Forty drives will only last about ten working days as a network and computer field tech. Maybe the developers should consider an initial 80 drives for the first month and then forty after that (?).
Save time. Deduct more.
by Pazaz Wellness on 2018/02/06 23:01
I’ve had mileage deductions for years and it’s always been a hassle to keep track of it and/or go back and calculate. Not only does this make tracking easier, it makes me consider every drive—many is which I probably would have missed counting—and it tracks mileage if I get lost and take the long way. To the guy who’s complaining about missing stops...I have noticed that if I make a very brief stop—say to drop someone off or something—it doesn’t necessarily end the drive at that stop as it’s probably not much longer of a stop than a long stop light. But it’s still tracking the miles! There may be several “stops” in one drive. Still works for me. So thankful for this app! Totally worth the $ to not have to track on my own!!
A REAL Assistant!
by Skeptical Deb on 2018/02/13 15:55
I’ve tried many apps that were supposed to “help“ me. But most eventually disappointed… Too hard to learn, too hard to use, too buggy... I tried mile IQ on a lark. I figured, it would be better than my scribbled notes on paper. Well, it’s definitely better than scribbled notes! My very favorite thing about mile IQ, is just getting into a car, going about my day, without giving mileage a second thought. No looking for paper upon which to scribble notes, no keeping those papers organized and available for monthly reports... what a relief. I have a busy life. It took me about six months at a new job to even give my Mile IQ reports a glance. But quickly, and easily, I was able to provide complete and accurate reports to my employer for reimbursement. Going back and filling in the details, was quite a challenge. Although mile IQ makes it incredibly easy to categorize drives, my memory fails after a few weeks. So, I do recommend that you try to stay up-to-date on classifying drives. It’s something I do at night, or in the morning, or as soon as I possibly can after a busy week. I wish all the tools I use to make my life more productive were as helpful as Mile IQ.
Great for business mileage/keeping track of your kids whereabouts
by Brawe Tax Manager on 2019/01/02 03:40
I highly recommend this app and do to all my tax clients. Being a tax preparer and having many clients who need to keep their business mileage and good record keeping, I always recommend this app. I recommend it so much I should be getting it free!!! Lol. Seriously this app is a no brainer and worth the little extra I pay a month and also very good because I have it on my sons phone who is 9. His is connected to my phone so I see where all he goes when he is on the bus, with his dad or friends and if he was to ever be taken or go somewhere he doesn’t belong I would at least have some idea where to look. Such a good thing and wasn’t planning it for that but very helpful.
Work tool
by iTaLL4@££ on 2017/11/28 13:36
Purchased this MileIQ app for a new job. Tracking my work vs personal driving was critically important to me and this App has become an invaluable tool. I cannot use this app directly for reporting mileage to the office - but - it has saved my tail a few times when I desperately needed a reference point. The detailed reporting is amazing. MileIQ has save me not only time but money, for example, I'd vaguely recall a series of drives through a week/weekend but never really confident because each time I rethink the route, I'd almost always remember another stop that was not previously counted. That is time consuming and frustrating, MileIQ is NONE of those things :) MileIQ is very user friendly. I'm able to easily access recent road trips, develop personal cataloging information, all combined with a simple (.pdf) export feature... what more could you ask for? Don't tell the developers, but I would have paid WAY more money to have saved this much time. I drive >30,000 miles each year, I'm confident that those miles will be accurately logged from here on out. Another satisfied customer looking to share my personal experience with MileIQ. Thanks!
Easy but needs improvement
by THellwinckel on 2019/01/31 22:31
My drives aren’t being logged even though drive detection is on because some of my drives are less than 1/2 mile, so I have to log these in manually. Also the edit feature doesn’t allow me to change the date, time, or location. I’m human and I hit the wrong button sometimes when I am manually logging trips. When I was trying to log trips for the month, I forgot a few times that the date automatically set to today then after I saved, I couldn’t go back and change it. Also, one of my locations was very close to my office and the app put the address as my office even though that’s not what I typed. I can’t change it. I’m willing to delete those trips and redo them, but I don’t see a way to delete. I’m waiting a full month to see if this app is worth the 60 bucks a year.
Must have for certain jobs!
by III Equinox III on 2018/05/28 01:55
I’m an installation and service technician, so my job requires me to drive quite a bit from house to house, sometimes building up to around 2.5 hours of driving every day. Fortunately, because I’m driving so much for work, I’ll be able to take advantage of the tax implications. However, keeping track of all of the driving I do would be nearly impossible, most certainly stressful, and too time consuming to do myself. This app is incredible, especially since I don’t need to have it open all the time or initiate something when I begin driving. It just tracks and automatically detects when and where I’m going. Invaluable - $6/month is more than fair for the unlimited plan.

by rldelga on 2017/11/01 03:04
It was very frustrating trying to get ahold of a person when I couldn’t log into my account, and emails weren’t going through. It took 24 hours (on a weekday, not a holiday) to get a response, and once I got an email, I finally got password reset emails as well. It was very frustrating, but once someone responded, by issues were fixed quickly, and I no longer have a problem. The app saves a lot of time and generally works well, but you need to pay attention to your drives because occasionally the app will miss a couple, and you need to manually input them. It works well for me, as a freelance designer with most drives under 5 miles, but I could see it being problematic for someone that drives a lot more. Overall I’m pretty happy
Great App but...
by toohottocare on 2018/02/14 06:10
When I find a discrepancy, it cannot be fixed with the phone app. I have to use a computer to go online into the Dashboard to correct them. I can’t even log in via a browser on my phone! There is no place to log in from my phone. So it’s quite inconvenient to have to find a computer to use when I’m traveling. All features should be accessible through the MileIQ app! That being said, I contacted support regarding an issue. I was contacted within 24 hours with a support person who really cared about my issue and was willing to go the extra mile (no pun intended 😬). However, my issue as stated above can only be fixed via computer not through the app. So still no resolution. But I do like the app. Much easier than logging miles!
More business options needed
by Chazapps on 2018/12/02 04:26
I like the app. It’s handy to separate business from personal, and the app works good, intuitive, easy to use. But I run 2 different businesses using my car a lot. It would be better if MileIQ had tracking for at least 2 businesses where you could enter separate names that could show all the mileage entries together for one business name, and all the other entries together under a second name. Can you give that a try? Actually I’m hoping you could make choices available for 3 business names - I have 2 businesses, plus I’d like to keep track of all my medical transportation expenses too, all 3 being separate from personal driving. Since I’m gettin older, I drive quite a few miles to various Med facilities.
Update: Great for Subcontractors
by Zachp1104 on 2017/11/03 16:02
This app at first is a bit weird, it tracks every trip. So to those reading this, make sure you go through your trip log daily and sort through each one (later it will let you auto classify frequent drives). Other than that at first its great. I drive for Lyft, and work as a Subcontractor for dealerships. So I'm constantly driving around, then when i make personal trips, its great for that too because I can swipe left and itll classify as personal. It is really easy to use, just at least once a day get on and make sure you classify everything so you dont forget what trips are business or personal. Other than the good things biggest con, it drains your battery. Constantly running and when you set it to while using the app (in location settings on IOS) it wont work....
Drive Alerts
by Meli Rae on 2019/01/05 00:45
I was so pleased with and impressed by the quick turnaround on a feature I requested. Because I drive a lot for work and pleasure, and just living the standard busy life of a working American, I always forgot to classify my drives and then would sometimes forget where I’d been when trying to classify the drives days, weeks or months later. I asked MileIQ to set up a notification to alert drivers at the end of each drive to classify it right away. Within a few days, it was done! No more forgetting to classify those deductible business miles! For business mileage tracking purposes, this app provides a simple way to keep you organized and ready for tax season.
So easy!
by no paper log for me on 2018/06/28 00:25
Overall I really love this app. I do not have the patience to keep a paper mileage log but I do a ton of business driving. The app paid for itself in less than a week. So far it records my drives with 100% accuracy. Love the auto classify feature. I do wish for a couple improvements...1. I wish it were possible to adjust the miles allocated to a trip on my phone. 2. I wish I could auto-classify a frequent drive that is part personal and part business. (That’s why I end up adjusting miles so much). And 3., I wish it were possible to manually end a trip and begin a new one without having to stop for five minutes. It is a wonderful app though, very happy with it. I’ll have a huge deduction this year, it really adds up.
Fantastic & a little disappointing
by The Original "SKITZ" on 2018/06/29 22:47
This is a great way to keep track of not only the amount of time and/ or hours you are on the road for business BUT it is also great for being able to see if there are better ways to spend your time and/ or make your day more efficient. My only complaint is that this app is constantly running and it does eat a little more battery than I would like. Prior to installing this app, my phone had great battery life (despite the amount of calls per day), and now I am charging my phone 2-3 times a day - which has its challenges on job sites. Great APP despite the battery loss - has made keeping track of my time vs $$$$ a breeze.
What is the purpose a mileage tracker app if not accurate?
by Osluocra on 2019/02/17 16:21
I’ve using Mileage IQ since March last year. Now that is time to report taxes I’ve been analyzing my trips and noticed I am missing some drives and realized that the app doesn’t detect if you don’t stop for several minutes (not sure how many. Called support and the guy said between 10-15 minutes). Here is my review for each of the sale points mentioned in the description: - Easy to use. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very easy to classify the drive with a second level classification for personal and business drives. - Automatic Mileage detection. ⭐️⭐️ It doesn't detect a final stop less than 10-15 minutes. It would be great to have the ability in the app to indicate the drive is ended. - Accurate Mileage Tracking. ⭐️⭐️ Most critical feature of the app. If miles are not accurate what is the purpose of using it? - A custom fit. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Web version very useful for analyzing and bulk classification. In general it is a great app but accuracy issues have to be fixed. I called support and the guy said there are new features being tested so would like to know when will be released. Please don’t redirect me to email support as I’ve seen this issue being reported at least since 2017 with the same response (transparency is important)!
Not sure what to think
by Nibythyhtygy on 2017/12/12 00:06
I've had this app for about 5 to 6 months now… I use it because a lot of other people do, and that gives it credibility in my mind… However, sometimes I would swear to myself that it misses a trip here and there. Today I was swiping through the trips, and I noticed a trip that went from an old place of residence of mine, to a job that I haven't worked at for months. When I saw that it was on a Friday that was on the 8th, I realized that the trip was from back in September 2017 and it is currently the middle of December 2017. I'm really hoping that this app becomes trustworthy and reliable, because I love the interface and it has already really made a name for itself. Unfortunately, for people to trust anything to do with their taxes, it really is going to need a lot of improving.
Very Convenient yet sometimes inaccurate
by Abe the adjuster on 2017/11/11 04:23
Overall I really enjoy this app! Is very easy to use and it sure beats me recording everything myself! For $5 and change a month I’m happy with what I’ve received so far. However, the app is not perfect. I sometimes drive through rural areas with no service and some of my very long drives get missed. This is remedied by being able to manual enter the missed drives on my laptop. I would caution anyone who believes the app can record each and every one of your drives no matter your location. Understandably, this is not the case. My advice is to keep an eye out for missed drives from time to time and you shouldn’t have a problem. Excellent app!
Good app
by pperkowski on 2019/01/28 19:31
This is a good app, as someone who used to use paper. However, the GPS is not quite accurate, and the edit function is not helpful in this regard. Should be able to move start/end point of a trip to improve accuracy, or pinpoint a spot without having to go to a maps app find an address to type in. As someone else said, if you stop at a location near a place already labeled, it will put you at that place. It also misses some drives, or starts a drive after I’ve been driving a bit. I do like ability to merge trips, which is useful when you stop for food or gas. Would like to track more expenses like fuel and maintenance rather than just parking and tolls. Improve the GPS and the edit function/or ability to move points on the map and this gets 5 stars.
Good luck trying to cancel your subscription
by Wafflemania123076482047194 on 2018/03/24 13:25
VERY hard to cancel your subscription. I feel like I keep getting the run around. I purchased the app on my iPhone and no longer needed it. But when I tried to cancel there wasn’t an option to cancel in the settings/General/iTunes/appleId/subscriptions like every other app I subscribe too has. I’ve had to email support several times still without resolution. Very dissatisfied. I’ve sent multiple emails and opened several tickets to resolve this and finally I was told that I had to contact Apple support that you couldn’t do anything about that. I don’t think it’s right for a customer to have to go through that process when every other app subscription I have has the option to cancel subscription. Meanwhile I’m still paying 5.99/mo for a service I no longer want or need. Resolve this and I will change my review otherwise this review stands as is.
App not optimized for app Postmates and Ubereats
by marija1311 on 2018/03/20 13:28
For any Postmates (especially you guys since Postmates drivers because the service doesn’t give us a run down of your mileage) or Uber delivery drivers this review is for you. I used this app for the summer of 2017 and part of the fall. I found that when using it the app would not distinguish between driving and when I stopped to get out to make a delivery to a persons home. At the end of a 3 hour period I would have a bunch of miles but not distinguishing when I started and stopped. I reached out to the help section and they told me to update, allow tracking, etc. I did all this and it still didn’t work properly. I also found customer service to be minimal. I could not reach anyone on the phone and they would get back to me via email days later. I am on the go and need responses pretty quickly.
Great app!!!
by mpenni006 on 2019/02/01 00:29
I use this app to track all my miles because I commute 2 hrs to school one way. So easy to set up folders and specify where it should go. I also forget to classify my miles a lot but they just remain there until you get to it! If you struggle to remember areas the map let’s you zoom in/out so you can remember is the driver was personal or not. Only thing is that it picks up EVERY drive, even if you’re not driving but I’m really not sure there’s much you can do about that??? Also, it needs a few minutes to log your miles so if you need it immediately... you may not get what you need. But give it I’d say 30 min max (I haven’t needed it immediately to include a drive I just took in LONG time) and it’ll be there.
Handy with some glaring issues...
by Tolga M on 2018/09/18 13:18
I've been using MileIQ for about a year and while it's got some handy features I have two major concerns. 1.) MileIQ frequently misses trips or parts of trips. At least 2-3 trips a week are not recorded or have large gaps of hours of driving. As others have mentioned this is not a signal issue, my phone is online, connected and working during these times, and if a fitness app like MapMyRide or Strava can track travel while out-of-cell-service, why can't MileIQ?! 2.) For a while the app has had an issue on iPhone with the screen scrolling your entries out-of-view so you can't see what you're typing. After contacting support they said it's a "known issue" and they blamed it on an Apple update. That was 6-months ago and lots of other apps I use don't have the same issue. These are both very frustrating.
Simplifies a Necessary Admin Evil
by Beavetart on 2019/03/11 22:33
This app is so useful I've got my company's entire sales team using it. The $25 referral bonus helps, but I'd swear by it regardless as it SIMPLIFIES a necessary admin evil. My manager finds it effective, too. I'd rate it 5 stars but for 2 nuisences: 1. It should be easier/more intuitive to re-categorize a mistaken entry from "business" to "personal" (or opposite) FROM THE PHONE. I'm always on the road & it's unreasonable to have to remember a specific drive on a specific date the next time I'm at my laptop instead of phone to correct my mistake. 2. I'm thinking of adding another job which doesn't compensate miles. So, I'll need to differentiate miles between the mile- compensating job & the one I'll document for tax purposes. In this gig economy, there must be a ton of people in my boat. Manufacturer, PLEASE make a SIMPLE way to address this need. SUGGESTION: This isn't a biggie, but it'd be great to be able to SIMPLY turn the tracker off for weekends or vacations. Or to just choose dates to skip. As it is now, I must go through each drive in each day off & classify everything irrelevant as "personal." Simple, but a waste of my time.
Not impressed
by Smitty fan on 2018/08/15 13:00
I was excited to try MileIQ because the idea of tracking all my trips was a time saver, or so I thought. I love my previous mile tracker but it is keeping me from updating my operating system on my phone. Mile IQ tracked everything - my walks, my bike rides, everything. That's annoying. If we stopped for any length of time, it ended the ride. For example, I drove an hour away, stopped for gas, ran an errand, & then arrived at my location. Instead of that being all one trip, I had 3 trips plus my return trip. There is no way to combine them into one trip. That makes reporting mileage for taxes a pain & takes 3x as long to name the trips. I think it looks more fishy too. It also does not provide the amount of details my previous system does. I'm so disappointed. Going back to the previous way after I attempt to write down my mileage.
Loving this app
by Toybox Twiggy on 2018/06/26 11:23
This app has taken away the anxiety of missing miles to log for business. Since I run 3 different businesses I have to log even the shortest of drives. I have the app set up for either vehicle I am driving as well so again I do not have to go get my log book from car to car. I haven’t figured out how to set same trips as repeats yet. In other words on Monday’s and Tuesdays I go to the same location to instruct people. I do wish I could figure out if there was a way to set those to automatically register or recognize the same places and log them into business for me. Otherwise absolutely no complaints here. That above was a suggestion (if it isn’t part of the app already) not a complaint.
