I do not recommend this program. I have tried to figure it out and have not been able to do so
Best I’ve used
by wblinmusic on 2021/01/15 03:53
After using Google’s own password manager, later tried LastPass, BitWarden, and been on Dashlane for a couple of years, I tried out this and realize the experience is miles ahead of Dashlane. It’s faster, easier to use, and has a complete core feature experience. Don’t use this if you need something fancy like bundled VPN, dark web monitoring, and all that jazz. Not saying that 1Password can’t do those well, but a lot of its competitors are busy adding these features but neglected developing their core features. 1Password does what it’s supposed to do incredibly well and that’s what I’m looking for when paying for a password manager.
Update is trash

Update locked me out of my account and created paywalls for previously basic and free features

Setup
by 1Passwordsucks on 2021/01/14 21:01
I have tried to setup my account and have been having trouble. The instructions are impossible. No help from support. You have confirmed my master password only to have it rejected every time I sign in to the app.
Fix the vault & note state issue!!!!!!!!!!!!
by MusicMoviesApps on 2021/01/14 20:00
The app forgets which vault I was last using simply by locking the app. This requires always having to go back and set the vault for each item opened. It's so time consuming!!!! Getting tired of this, starting to look for app alternatives. Update: I'm done with you all, the only thing it's going to stop me from stopping using your app is getting my data out. But I will!
Worst app I’ve ever used
by Nneo1231 on 2021/01/14 14:50
It says you’re allowed to export your data, can’t do it.. The chat wasn’t helpful at all, my info was lost by them and all they say is I’m sorry.. Worst app I’ve ever used!
I can’t imagine living without it
by Neandertool on 2021/01/14 14:43
I’ve been using 1Password since version 3, on my Macs, iPhone, and iPad. It’s an integral part of most everything I do. Beyond just generating and remembering passwords, I keep important numbers (licenses, passport, etc) in secure notes, along with scans of the items. 1PW is worth every penny.
Long time user. Long time Fan

Been using 1Passsord for Mac and IOS for many years. 1Password is my daily driver.
So far, so great
by FrankTheParrot on 2021/01/14 03:54
Just wanted to add... The support really is ‘all that and a bag of chips’. Very speedy AND substantive feedback. In today’s world (virus delays, all that) what really sets an organization such as 1Password apart from the wide and varied assortment of contenders is... SERVICE, in my opinion.
Essencial

Fantastic Synchronized Password Manager

1Password is super easy to use and incredibly reliable. I keep my passwords synced across multiple devices, and have never had any issues. Good work from the devs!!
Poor Documentation, Interfaces Not Intuitive
by OhNo1233333 on 2021/01/13 16:08
I like the access to passwords across platforms, but it would be nice if 1Password provided better user manuals and if they had a more intuitive interfaces, particularly for Windows. It’s fairly easy to use on IOS devices, but so is Apple’s Keychain. 1Password is very cumbersome on my Windows computer. I find that I still use Keychain mostly. I use 1Password to copy user names and passwords I’ve entered on my PC, which I then save to Keychain. If you have all Apple devices, you don’t need it. If you have Windows and Apple devices, you will be frustrated. It works, but it’s frustrating. I’ve been using 1Password for about a month, now. I’m hoping that I will eventually learn by trail and error (which is not efficient) or that 1Password will listen to Windows users and improve their access. Bottom line: it’s so-so, but I wouldn’t really recommend it. I swear out loud every time I use 1Password on Windows and I’m even more irritated if I contact their support. Update: I have finally gotten to the point where I only use 1Password to share passwords across platforms and use Apple Keychain and Windows Password Manager to fill in the passwords. I’m not sure this is much better than having an password protected Excel spreadsheet with my passwords. I’m getting used to it. I only swear under my breath when I use 1Password. I think there focus is on business accounts and they don’t care so much about family accounts. I’ve paid for the year, so I’m staying with it, but I don’t think I’ll renew next year.
Still the best
by RitzTheCat on 2021/01/13 13:33
Continues to be my favorite password manager. It just works and it doesn’t harass me for reviews (just a gentle reminder in the very entertaining release notes). I trust it to hold all of my account information for hundreds of accounts. Great software.
Great product
by robbiehou on 2021/01/13 09:52

BEST PASSWORD MANAGER EVER!!
by Betzu3verhad on 2021/01/13 02:25
I love this app. When it comes to making your life easy it doesn’t get much better than this. I went from writing all of these ridiculously impossible to remember passwords down and painstakingly punching them in character by character, to breezing through logins like a 1Password boss. Not just passwords though. Oh no. Credit cards and all that jazz are securely stored in the app. It’s so secure, not even they can reset your password. Like, the company that makes the app can’t get into your ish (don’t lose that secret key!!) You gotta keep that thang on standby just in case (that thang being your emergency kit) How are they to know it’s really you trying to reset that master password? That’s how serious they are about security and making sure your logins and such are protected from the hackas or whateva (Boston voice). If you’re looking for a easy to use, secure than a mug password manager then look no further. Could there be a better one out there? Neigh!!! Lol jk who knows if there is. I don’t care. I’m a one password gal for life. Even though I’m a dude. And I’m out!! Carry on.
2FA prompt makes the mobile app unusable
by CharlieHess on 2021/01/12 23:41
If you're using this app at a company that has configured a second factor (e.g., Duo) for authentication, the mobile app has a glaring bug where the Duo prompt relies on a blocking modal. The modal appears as soon as the app is opened, and the app doesn't register when the Duo prompt is confirmed, so it's possible to get into a loop where the app is unusable. This bug is bad enough it makes me want to delete 1Password, and/or defenestrate my phone. But like I said, you'll only hit it in BigCorp environments.

Fabulous and Super convince
by nursecolleen837 on 2021/01/12 13:50
This app has been invaluable to us whether checking into an airline or reviewing financial data or just the simplicity of an online purchase. With the huge encryption we feel super safe and using it and cannot believe people actually try and function without it. Give us a piece of paper and the data is lost. Immediately we put our information into our app and have loved it for a couple of years now. Scary to be without it. I can’t say enough positive.

Honestly this app has changed my life. It has given me the peace of mind that all my accounts will be protected in one safe place. As an entrepreneur I have a lot of accounts that I need to keep secure. 1Password has changed the game by introducing the ability to connect all your accounts in one safe place. I now have the ability to monitor all my accounts from 1 app. Thank you 1Password

Indispensable
by hoosadam on 2021/01/11 19:08
First app installed on a new phone or computer. Easy to use. Secure password generation and storage. Keeps hundreds of records straight for me and helps to make sure password re-use is at a minimum. 2FA reminders and support built right in. Well worth the price of a subscription.
I love this app, but....

In the pe generation section, I wish it would include numbers. Instead each time a new pe is generated, I have to modify it with a number

Indispensable. Must have.
by KiltBear on 2021/01/11 16:49
The new integration with iOS makes a great app stupendous. I bought this app "way back" before Apple turned its password keeping facility back on in Safari. You might think you only need one or the other, but I find it is nice to have both. 1Password saves much more than just website passwords and is easier to look things up in. It is also easier to send passwords of shared accounts over Apples encrypted iMessages app. Apple keychain is bare-bones and useful, but 1Password is full service luxury.
Not working across devices
by Barbara in Vero on 2021/01/11 14:22
Program has not transferred passwords across my devices. I rarely get prompt on my phone and vault does not show same number of passwords from device to device.
Never used a password manager, this is awesome!
by RobEastman on 2021/01/11 14:00
I have never used a password manager before 1Password. I should have started a long time ago! I have the family plan and the shared vault feature with my wife is awesome! She was skeptical at first, but loves it now! We now have complex passwords for our hundreds of accounts. Also, if I die unexpectedly my wife or heirs can access all my accounts using the masterkey and my account password which is stored offline in a secured physical safe.
Essential

Better Memorable Passwords
by saforce on 2021/01/11 05:42
The new Memorable Password generator is a nice improvement for keeping password length down without going for pure random. Will be nice once this improvement makes it to desktop.

by IAB111 on 2021/01/10 18:26
I get a free family subscription to 1Password through my eero subscription and I will not be using it or recommended it. The setup is externally confusing, and impossible to login to your own account. I tried to set this up fro my Dad to share passwords but I couldn’t even login to my own account with my master password and secret key. I highly recommended using LastPass and to avoid 1Password even if you get it for free.

The best password manager I have ever used
by shane meyer on 2021/01/08 18:27
I have had it for many years and it has been a great experience. The only thing is that standalone version vs monthly subscription is very confusing
Needlessly confusing to set up
by isfoiudkhelkhdl on 2021/01/08 06:57
When setting up, it asks for a master password. It says pick one you can remember. You think “Well, if I can remember it, it won’t be a very secure one for a Master!” You dunno what to do. Then the Mac asks if you want it to generate one. You think “okay, super secure, right?” So you do it, and the Mac says you can use your fingerprint. Then the first frickin time you try to use the app on both Mac and phone IT ASKS FOR THE MASTER PASSWORD AND WON’T LET THE MAC AUTO-FILL IT!! Incredibly frustrating, confusing, and leaves you wondering if you want to pay for auch a poorly designed thing and how often it’s going to strand you like this. FRUSTRATING
Useless app
by tolga.tekin on 2021/01/08 05:00
Very hard to use, does not integrate with safari and does not help with changing of your password to a random solution it can track.

by siren19 on 2021/01/07 06:22

Great Password Manger!
by ManageCPU on 2021/01/07 04:25
I have tried many other password managers like but found 1Password to be most intuitive and user friendly to me. I also liked having the option on the browser extension to fill in when you wanted too, not auto fill and sign you in automatically when you got into the sign in page. Also browser extension had a nice configuration. The app on the phone and Computer also worked really well. Overall it did mange all my passwords in a nice organized place and the browser extension works great and have no complaints. Definitely a really good password manager for daily use and management of overflowing passwords. Thanks Developers!

This App will change your life
by CrystalSkier on 2021/01/05 16:46
If you don’t use a password manager you need to start doing so immediately. This app has made my life so much easier. Just buy the full version and set up iCloud synchronization. I suggest the desktop app as well. My only gripe is that the browser within 1password on iPhone is impossible to find once you click done. There still may be tabs open but you cannot get back to them.
Used to love it.
by RyanLaughsAtYou on 2021/01/05 16:19
This used to be one of my favorite apps. Then I bought an M1 MacBook. They have an “early preview” app for the M1 that works pretty well. However, every time, and I do mean EVERY SINGLE TIME. You open the application, it pops up a giant, “please buy me and pay for a subscription” screen. It’s ridiculous. It’s so intrusive it reminds me of the crapware from the 90s and early 00s that was full of ads. Apple owns 1Password, they don’t need anymore of my money for subscriptions at this point. Their app seems predatory and I’m switching to an open source alternative that doesn’t constantly throw adverts for the products I don’t want in my face.

Quite simply, it works, it’s fast, and I wish I had found this a long time ago.

I have been using this app for several years. It just occurred to me that I have never written a review despite the fact that it is one of my most useful apps. I log into it daily, and I especially love that it is integrated with the face ID. It’s convenient and I always feel safe signing up with new accounts and complicated passwords because I will never lose them thanks to this app. I’m getting a new iPhone soon and this app is the first thing going on it. Thanks!

My Life Is In This App!!
by Ginoletv on 2021/01/04 18:37
I use this app to keep track of —APPARENTLY— over 300 unique passwords! I do have some requests, if I may be so bold. A) The ability to add numbers to my password in the generator and B) Have a dedicated “page” of all my second step passwords. You guys are great, love the app, I recommend it to others who ask me for a trustworthy password app.
Good for computers and phones!

Get this app! With this app you only need to remember one password. An absolute lifesaver!!
by Avengers93 on 2021/01/04 16:53
This is quietly one of my favorite and most important apps. I hate to bring this up but I don’t pay a penny for it either. I use the free version and it’s amazing. I honestly feel guilty about that. At some point I’ll upgrade to paying subscription, but not because I feel I need anymore out of the app, but because it’s been so helpful I want to support them. Sorry 1Password for being cheap. Thanks for the great service!!

migration from old app to new subscription
by McDonna on 2021/01/04 06:47
the migration process is very confusing and has many parts that have to be done on every platform. I’ve spent hours on it and just realized I still don’t have access on my phone. This is ridiculous.
Game changer for password management
by Kendra455 on 2021/01/04 04:56
Prior to using 1Pass, I was using Lastpass and it was a mess. A few months ago, I swapped to 1Pass and it’s been SUCH a better experience. For one, the password entry process is much smoother and reliable. Also, the interface is easier to navigate and the features (like alerting you if you have comprised or duplicate passwords) is awesome. The integration between desktop, my iPhone and iPad is fantastic. My only complaint on 1Pass is that if you are using it on your browser you have to click the extension to fill it in (the login details do not auto fill). At first, this was annoying (and there might be a way to shortcut this) but I realized this also helps me make sure I have the right login selected. (I have multiple accounts for the same websites with work/clients). Switching password managers (or) setting one up is a total pain, but 1Pass is the way to go! Highly recommend. They also have real people who are helpful answering support tickets when I had a question!
Everyone Should Use This
by Rboe77 on 2021/01/04 04:47
From work to personal use. The security and function of having passwords auto fill and having all sensitive information stored in one location saves sooo much time. I watch coworkers type for so long or scratch their heads trying to remember a password, am glad those days are gone. I haven’t had to remember anything but one password in so long. This app saves you headache and time. I highly recommend.
I’m happy they haven’t forced everyone to the subscription
by Tulliandar on 2021/01/04 03:52
Too many companies are forcing “upgrades” to subscriptions. I’m glad they’re letting me keep full control of my passwords. It’s also the best password manager out there.
Longterm user difficulties
by Lake crew on 2021/01/04 03:19
1Password worked great all the way through version 6. Version 7 has been a frustrating problem that never works as well or a simply as 6 did. I ended up with 2 accounts with the same name but different emails—that is where the problem began last year and I still cannot get the app to work as it did.

Best Personal and business password vault
by Butter10101 on 2021/01/03 17:22
I’ve probably had 1Password for about three years now. No one is probably going to read this as it is one of the numerous five star reviews, so I made this a four star review. If you have to login to multiple apps via mobile or professionally from a google browser. This is the app for you. If you want to safely secure all of your personal logins in one place. This app is for you. If you do a bunch of online shopping and quickly want to save logins to shopping websites. This app is for you. I would recommend memorizing your master password and saving your emergency kit somewhere safe. If you ever forget your password, the E-kit can help you get back in. I use this app probably 25 times a day during workdays. Super efficient, really surprises my colleagues too when I’m surfing from one app to the next and just seamlessly logging into apps and websites while on demonstrations.
It is getting more complicated every day

Bring back detailed/granular password generator
by NikeJustDoIt! on 2021/01/03 03:28
Being able to select how many symbols and/or numbers was a very nice feature that this app had. You could have an equal amount of each, or more, to go with your letters. That makes a password more secure and difficult to guess. Why take a backwards step in security? EDIT: 01/02/2021 Cannot edit current passwords. I get a blank keyboard and then pressing cancel or done always types the petter “q”. This is on version 7.7 on iOS 14.2
Very difficult to use.
by slowandgrey on 2021/01/03 01:21
Version 7 has been an absolute disaster. Everything is hard and complicated. Still haven’t been able successfully set up on other devices. I can’t recommend it.

The Best Password Manager! Hands Down!

This app is broke
by Phred on 2021/01/02 17:48
The vaults on my iPhone , Mac, and iCloud won’t stay synced with each other, so now I have three different vaults. There’s no synch option on the iPhone app to sync with the iCloud primary vault. Also, there’s no option to integrate the personal vault on the Mac with the primary vault on iCloud. The wireless synch between my Mac and iPhone hasn’t worked since I upgraded my iPhone a year ago.

1Password is a game changer. Last year, my New Years resolution was to get my passwords in one place and make them more secure. 1Password helped me reach that goal. Where is the password generator on the mobile app?
Brilliant, can’t e-live without it.

I cannot easily modify the preview of the password generator. Would like to add/modify characters into the string. I can only edit it when it’s hidden behind the stars e.g. *********
Great technology, mediocre documentation
by WildlandPhotos on 2020/04/08 16:36
The pretty-looking docs would serve us far better if they concentrated on helping us to understand how 1Password works, and if in so doing they didn’t make a habit of committing the very common sin of skipping over the most basic parts of that explanation. Usually the people who build an application are so familiar with it that they’ve lost the ability to put themselves into the shoes of someone who isn’t. This family of programs is both very important in today’s living and quite complex and touching on many aspects of computer security, so clear, concise documentation aimed at arming us with the power to make wise choices about how we use it to secure a big part of our most precious data is simply vital. The underlying technology is steadily improving with respect to it’s organizational concepts, cleverness and information security. Before you begin to spend the time to create the contents of your main “vault” file with 1Password, be sure you get how it works, so you can avoid wasting a lot of time or risking loss of the login data that you’ll spend a lot of time setting up. But a great password manager is simply a necessity now and this continues to be the best of the lot, to the best of my knowledge.
Convenient, reliable, and peace of mind
by VAbxman on 2018/09/07 16:38
A safe haven for your passwords, account information, or just any valuable information for that matter. Accessed with one master password only YOU know and can remember easily, you’ll have an overview of ALL your inputed accounts or information with their respective passwords, PIN numbers, and security questions with answers. One of the great features of 1Password is that it can generate passwords for you if you so choose. You can set it up to where you can have 25 characters total with numbers and uppercase letters thrown into the mix (25 not being the max but you get the idea!) Absolutely a MUST have app for your phone if you have multiple online accounts. You ever sit there trying to get on an account you haven’t signed to in a while and you go through papers or whatever method you use to keep track of your passwords trying to desperately remember? Well look no further 1Password is here and all you got to do is open the app, type in the master password or use FaceID/TouchID, and boom! Tap on that password for the account you were just trying to access - COPY then bam! Paste that into the type bar and you’re good to go. No big deal, forget about it! Hope this review helps and honestly it really does give you peace of mind knowing you can create the most secure password with the most characters used, forget it, then simply access the app and there you have it just ready to be copied and pasted.
Great in almost all ways
by owndao on 2018/02/02 10:50
Yes, this app will not badger you to leave a review and that's a reflection of the outstanding professionalism of the people behind the scenes. I have never lost a single item stored with 1Password and it has saved me days of time by not having to reset a forgotten password. It has led the way since day one with the secure keychain concept and I trust it more than Apple's own late-for-the-show implementation of just a subset of what this app does with ease. Now if we could establish truly secure transport encryption and authentication at websites of the caliber of this product I'll be happy. This is the best money I've spent on any app, ever. The fingerprint unlocking has been fantastic but for some reason on iOS 11.3, 1Password, and 1Password only, is not providing the fingerprint unlocking option. It says that my fingerprints have changed (they had not) and I even went to setting to redo them all and 1Password, only, gives the same message when switched to allow fingerprint unlocking and when the app is launched, it allows for the master password only. I suspect that 1Password has stricter requirements for trusting fingerprints than other apps and that this iOS update is responsible. Otherwise the app performs great as usual. Even despite this I highly recommend this app and the people behind it. I fully expect the 1Password team to tell me how to fix this quickly.
Don't know how I would function without it...My #1 most used tool
by Narmur19 on 2018/01/13 11:58
I've had 1password since they were sold as individual licenses and from Day 1 it's been the tool I rely on most heavily in my day to day tasks. I use it to store everything I might need to access to, from passwords to passport numbers. Form filling can be a bit spotty depending on the occasion and the 1browser could use more thinking through to be truly functional, but the ease of access and security can't be beat. I've tried out most of the competition, but I keep coming back to 1P for it's UI, number of data types supported and ease of integration into my daily task flow across all my devices. Maybe it's because I'm so familiar with how 1P operates, but the competition never really struck me as in the same league. I finally bit the bullet and signed up for the subscription service, and I don't regret it one bit. My biggest complaint with the single license version was the removal of the web access functionality, but now I have it back and it's better than it's ever been before, and I have instantaneous syncing across all my platforms to boot. 100% recommended to anyone that wants to stop worrying about online security and is willing to put the initial effort into migrating you're info in and filing it properly. If you can actually complete that you'll wonder why you went so long without it.
Excellent. Full of thought (and well implemented features)
by MtnSloth on 2020/05/22 22:59
I had my misgivings when 1Password went to a subscription model. However, as much as I may not like that, we still have a local data store that syncs to cloud storage (I think it defaults to iCloud, but recall that there are instructions for other services). Thus, your passwords sync across all the devices that run 1Password, but it still works when one is offline. My favorite feature is the support for one-time passwords. You no longer need dedicated Authenticator apps. Which is nice as these Authenticator apps break when you install them on a new device; as they offer no means of transferring data from one device to a new one. Now I don’t have to fix app moderated two factor authentication when I setup a new device. I dropped Google’s and Microsoft’s Authenticator apps, and just use 1Password. 1Password’s one-time password feature works just like Google’s Authenticator. Thus, you do have to reconfigure two factor authentication one last time for each account where you use that. But, that should be it. I’ll never have to do it again, unless the site or services change something that requires a change. So far, I haven’t found a service that works with Google Authenticator that doesn’t work with 1Password’s one-time password feature.
Give it a chance, it’s worth the subscription
by GB45689 on 2019/10/04 11:53
I am a long time 1Password user (without looking it up 6-8 years). I, like a lot of other users, was not thrilled upon discovering the new subscription plan. Also I was concerned after reading some of the reviews about having to copy and paste to fill in login information. This is simply put, not the case! I find the functionality of 1Password 7 to be as good and in many cases better than prior versions. I use 1Password on iPhone, iPad, MacBook and occasionally on work or family members PC’s. 1Password has continually improved over the years and it is significantly better and more usable on iPhone and iPad than in the past. 1Password consistently comes out with updates, fixes and improvements. After using version 7, considering a cost benefit analysis and consideration of long term dependability and development, I am definitely willing to pay the monthly or annual fee. Please don’t rule out 1Password 7 without giving it a chance. Also it seems clear that 1Password is committed to great customer service. I have the family plan, and while I have never needed customer service, they were extremely helpful to my mom before I added her to my family. Also littered throughout the comments and reviews they consistently reach out to users and offer assistance.
Intuitive, Simple, Flexible yet Secure😅

Awesome app. I had been considering using one for about a year but was extremely concerned with putting all passwords in one place! However, managing all my passwords and logins was getting to be an impossible manual task. Then my nephew told me he and several of his work colleagues (all savvy finance senior leaders) were using 1Password and they were all extremely happy with the simplicity, security and having all the information at their fingertips on their global work travels. App takes playing around with after installation to get familiar initially - like anything. And after viewing the ample 1Password resources on their support site, I have created separate vaults for various categories for quick access and it is a pleasure to use the app with total piece of mind. Wonder why I hesitated for so long to use a password manager despite having read several experts recommending using one. After detailed reviews of several of the top password managers on the market (free and paid ones), it was a pretty simple choice for me to go with 1Password Manager and I am very happy with my choice. Works flawlessly every single time and syncs with all my devices in real time 😃. So far, I have had NO issues and I can recommend it highly to anyone considering getting one.
Best Password app available!!!
by Nisoplexis on 2020/05/04 00:26
I have tried other password saving apps and I have to say, this one is the best one for your money. I got the free app before they started offering pay options. Every site you go to, or app you use, makes you create an account these days and it can be overwhelming to have so many passwords and logins. This app allows you to create different logins and passwords for each one of them without the fear of forgetting them and having to go through the agony of retrieving passwords or recreating accounts. It enables you to have better security as well because you are not using the same login and password for every site you use because you can just add it to this app and forget it. Now it’s there when you need it again. The only thing I would suggest to the developers is, make a setting for the user to define what “home page” the app opens to. Meaning instead of opening to the standard page the app opens with, I could have the app open to a specific vault or page. I only use the app for passwords and logins so I would love to go straight there. It’s nit picky but, other than that, this app is great. Others either do not have the same functionality or make you sign up for things or charge you for what you get here for free. 👍🏼
Everything You Need

I first got this app to generate new passwords, but this has become so much more. My entire life is being protected by this app. As I got older, even before that, there was no way I was going to remember the sheer voluminous number of passwords I was being required to use. Work, Bank accounts, Financial and retirement funds, online vendors. It started slow but as I found out how easy it was to use and how much more I could lock away (Driver licenses, social security accounts, and data for everyone in my family down to the last grandchild), I found my whole life is detailed in this one app. With the Equifax debacle possibly exposing us to what could be more information stolen than I could of imagined, I realized everything they had and more could be found in 1Password. So I wrote support for advice, but found in their webnotes that I'm safer on every level than I could have hoped for. Its like this team put all their own lives in here and said let's build a fort, then built a fort around that, and so on. The only way anyine is getting into this app and my information, is by finding where I have my Master Password hidden just in case. I know this review is too long, and I'm gushing, but again after Equifax, at last I can believe in something.
This App Stinks
by MrBrutalTruth on 2017/11/19 17:33
I hate to give bad ratings, but...I paid around $50 (yes!) to be able to access on pc and Mac and iOS. I have stuck with it because starting over would be a drag. But really...the functionality of this app is awful. You’re trying to add “notes” and the box won’t open (it keeps dropping down where you can’t get to it). If you don’t fill a sufficient # of boxes on a new entry it won’t let you save it. If you have a problem with accessing from another device or moving to a new device you end up with back and forth emails that go something like this “Hi. We love you. Update all of your devices and assemble them all in the same location and then email us back.” They just keep kicking the can back to you (no phone support). It’s unbelievably annoying. I just don’t even bother anymore. I just open and start a new password and put everything in the notes section (when I can get it to work-if you save and re-open it usually works the second time). And if you select the option to use your fingertip to open, it shows up on the screen and you have to tap that and THEN hit the home button. You can’t just go right to it. And sometimes it just randomly requires you to enter the actual password. I actually have my last two iPhones in a drawer because I’m terrified my passwords didn’t all move to the new device and I’ll be in trouble. Seriously, it shows I have like 314 passwords on the iPad version of the app and 322 in the iPhone version. Really?!
You must have 1Password to use the internet
by ductmonkey on 2019/10/05 12:39
1Password should be required for you to get a license to use the internet. If this were true most internet security problems would disappear. But it only works if you use it and use it properly. I’ve had a family account for about 5 years and this app completely secures both my business and personal life. I can’t say I use it daily, because I use it hourly. I read through some of the one star reviews to try and understand why someone would do that to 1Password. Looks to me that most were at fault for their own problems. 1Password can’t reset your password if you forget it, they don’t have it it’s YOUR password. And why on earth would they let you set the mobile app to be unlocked until the next time the phone is powered off? That’s insane! Your phone is the most public facing and easily stolen device you have. Oops! Someone just got access to ALL your passwords. You can’t fix stupid but I think 1Password is doing a pretty good job at securing its users precious information despite the users best efforts to the contrary. If you take password security seriously (as you should) purchase a subscription to 1Password, you won’t be disappointed.
Indispensable Tool in the Internet Age
by F Harvell on 2019/06/08 16:55
I have been using 1Password for several years and, quite frankly, it is the 1st application I load on any new computer or device. All of my internet account passwords are maintained by this application (and service) and the value provided by 1Password is genuine. All of my account passwords are 20+ random characters and every account has a different password. This is critical for cyber security and 1Password helps me do it. I have used 1Password on multiple iOS devices, macOS computers, and windows computers. Their syncing service is reliable and fast. The inherent encryption of the 1Password vaults (databases) helps keep all of my passwords safe. The ability to have multiple vaults and to share some vaults when using the family or team 1Password sync services also allows me to securely share information between my spouse and myself as well as with my kids. While I hate subscription models for applications that do not provide continuing services, 1Password does provide their robust syncing service along with excellent applications on the platforms they support. The cost for the service is reasonable and, at least for me and my family, one that we find valuable.
A must have app.
by Kittycam on 2018/01/31 20:59
I really mean it when I say this is an app everyone should have.. by using it I am able to keep a different and much more secure password for each account, which in this day and age is a necessity. Just think if someone were able to get one password and you shared it with all accounts.. definitely has the potential to become a nightmare situation. The only issues I have had with the app so far were: My fingerprint read incorrectly a few times and after too many failed attempts locked me out, which may not have been a big deal except I had forgotten my master password and until I was able to figure it out again I was locked out of the app and unable to get in to a few of my accounts which I didn’t remember the password for. This really was a good thing as it shows how secure the app is.. just don’t forget (or share) your master password! The other thing that bothered me was that I paid for pro services, and then when I cancelled the pro I continued to be billed for a long time until I had checked my statement and realized it. Aside from those things, this app is one of my most used. I’d give it five stars but the pro thing left a bad taste in my mouth.
I’d be lost without it
by Brex1278 on 2017/10/06 05:32
For years my password management consisted of a small brown book filled with random passwords, old usernames, a complete nightmare. It worked if I remembered to have it nearby to add info to it. But was useless in the long run. Not to mention completely lacking of any security. If someone got hold of that book..... Ever since I began using 1password my life feels more organized, safe, and in control. I ALWAYS have my phone, and 1Password is always there to help me securely protect the hundreds of credentials I use on a regular basis. Now when I get an alert to change an expiring password, I don’t break out in a cold sweat wondering what should I come up with for a strong password but not too difficult for me to remember, I actually look forward password creation!.. with this amazing app I can automatically create 20+ character passwords that I (or anyone else) would never in a million years recall. Best part is I know where all my “secret” stuff is located. And in case my phone blows up I have a back up in my Dropbox. I tell everyone I know to get and use 1Password so they too can be liberated from the mentally challenging world of secure log ins.
Wow!
by TheSocialGadfly on 2018/04/05 04:01
I've been pretty hesitant to take the plunge into using a password manager of any type. On some level, I just think it's lulling me into a false sense of security like Anti-virus programs. That being said, my memory just isn't what it used to be and so I did a lot of research and found 1Password so I thought I'd give it a shot. So far, I'm not at all disappointed. It stores IDs for me, logins, passwords, CC info, you name it, I use it within the app. I only recently bought my first iPhone and Apple for the most hasn't been in my life. So, one thing I wanted in a PW Manager was sync capability with my Windows laptop. Long and short of it, the two work well with each other so I purchased the full version for each. It initially took me some figuring out (I just down deep hate to read manuals), how to sync them, but once I integrated my Dropbox account it was a cinch. I'm still skeptical about the security of password managers, but I'm happier using one that does what I want. A last word for AgileBits. Please don't tinker with 1Password. When you have something that works, it doesn't need improvement, and I become loyal. Ball's in your court so don't screw it up.
Great app but editing is terrible!
by Joyflute on 2017/11/05 02:55
This app is great for syncing your important data between your devices. But the editing is terrible! It was bad enough before the last update, but now it's nearly unusable. Previously you would have to hit the "edit" button to update unlike the Notes app. This was only a slight nuisance because it was difficult to enter anything in a specific spot in a longer file. Now it is nearly impossible to use because when you hit edit, it only shows you a tiny fraction ( perhaps two or three lines) of your entire file. This needs to be fixed to work more like the Notes app. Otherwise I may be forced to look for another password app. Update: 2 years later and they still haven’t fixed the lousy edit feature! I think I’m finally going to have to look for a new password manager, because now they’ve got new irritating problems. Sometimes now you can’t see the last line in your category until you hit edit, and the final straw was when I installed ios 11.1 and the app deleted itself and had to be reinstalled. I really don’t understand all the 5 star reviews. Curious, too, that these issues cropped up about the time they institute a subscription plan nobody really needs!
Won my family password manager “tournament”
by jameswilletts on 2019/04/20 22:51
Poked around the web for a pw manager for the fam, and it was down to 1Password, Keeper, Bitwarden, and RoboForm. RoboForm did not have a Watchtower feature, and Bitwarden did not have as many tutorial videos. 1Password barely squeaked by with the pin unlock feature, while Keeper only had a fingerprint unlock for speed (which I don’t like to use, but maybe I just need to take the tinfoil off my head). Get yourself a password manager! You’ll always be safer with than without, and you won’t know how you lived without it. 1Password is definitely the easiest, most visually appealing, and most accessible across platforms (work PC, Mac at home, iPhones) and tutorials. Why four stars? Keeper has a sort of secret keeper feature for someone to have access to your vault if you die. 1Password’s only answer to this feature is to print out YOUR master password and give it to someone (in our case, the godparents of our child), so if I change it or the godparents lose it, those social profiles will have to stay up forever, like some kind of morbid, digital vigil.
Terrific password manager
by Lab.Monkey on 2020/07/08 15:13
I use 1Password to handle all my passwords and software licenses. The fact that I can use it to sync across my iPhone, home Mac and work PC makes it super helpful, as do the browser plugins for Chrome and Firefox. I use this thing every day for all my passwords. Gone are the days of asking, "What variation of my 3 common passwords did I use on this website I haven't visited in 5 years?" I'll never have to remember another password again! My favorite feature is the multiple types of data it can store: not just passwords, but software licenses, IDs, credit cards, even encrypted memos. I use it to keep anything. A few weeks ago, I decided to go through my entire password library and randomize all my passwords. With over 200 logins, this was a big task. However, 1Password made it simple and relatively quick. The secure password generator makes it easy to create unique and truly complicated passwords that will conform to all the different assinine criteria imposed by different web services. It even works as an OTP generator for those logins that work with 2FA. Thanks to 1Password, my entire digital life is easier and more secure.
Terrific Product
by J7478953115890513690521690 on 2019/10/04 15:51
I’ve used 1Password since 2016 and have about 400 unique logins at this time. It’s a simple and intuitive product that can create and save complex, unique passwords. But it can also elevate to whatever your particular security concerns demand. If you want your passwords available on every browser you use, you can store your password vault with 1Password and use a browser extension. If you don’t want to store your vault with 1Password, you can store it on iCloud or Dropbox instead. If you don’t want your vault on the cloud at all, you can store it locally and sync it between devices whenever you want. I have not found this level of flexibility mixed with such a simple, functional interface in any other password manager. Without disparaging other products, they either all store your information on their servers by default or require significantly greater effort to keep your information local. I started with just a Mac trial and have since purchased a premium license on Mac, Windows and iOS. Simply put, it’s a great product that’s frequently updated. I can’t recommend another password manager more highly.
Beyond exemplary customer service
by ReikistaSoy on 2018/03/01 13:53
I have loved this app mostly because it makes me feel safe and able to manage my innumerable passwords, but also for its ease of use. As often happens when starting to use a product, I wasn’t thinking of what would happen if I ran into trouble with it later. Luckily for me, their customer service is beyond exemplary. I have had little glitches (something I messed up) in the past, and they always helped quickly. But this time I had a headscratcher issue where the browser, the website server and virus protection met in a perfect storm, and the 1Password team, namely Tully, stuck with me and walked me through every step of the long troubleshooting way, their instructions always precise and detailed for the non-techie I am (even when referring to processes that weren’t directly related to their app). Clearly they did their research and put themselves in my shoes. I am deeply grateful. Without them, I would have given up AND been (mistakenly) panicked about the integrity of my data. I think this kind of customer service would make the app worth buying even if it weren’t as awesome as it is!
I took the plunge!
by BillsPlace on 2020/06/13 14:43
After using another password manager for nearly 30 years, I have made the switch to 1Password. Over the years, I’ve tried many programs & apps, but always went back after seeing the amount of work involved to make the switch. Then I read the article in the July 2020 Consumer Reports magazine where they rated 10 password manager apps. 1Password was rated highest. Since the app I had been using for years wasn’t even listed, I felt that maybe it was time to try switching again...I’m so glad I did! The data import into 1Password was extremely simple, with no issues. Due to the ease of creating new passwords, I have eliminated all logins with duplicate passwords. The capability to share items with my family through the shared vault is proving to be a real time saver for everyone. The app is very easy to use and intuitive making it ideal for all users of all levels of technical ability. I use both Windows & iOS devices and find that the app works seamlessly across both platforms. Needles to say...I’m very happy that I “made the switch”!
Thanks for nothing

I had this app set up using touch ID so I wouldn’t have to try to remember all of my passwords while my brain was fuzzy during chemo. Unfortunately, chemo caused the skin on my fingertips to crack so touch ID wouldn’t work and I got locked out of my account. Now that my fingers are healed, I still can’t access the app because it disabled touch ID and I can’t remember the master password (kind of why I got the app in the first place, duh!). I’ve researched and it seems that there is no way to reset the master password. I hated the thought of being forced to start a new account since I’d lose all of the passwords that I had stored in the app, but realized that I had no choice so I just requested that it be disabled. I just got my bank statement and noticed I’m still being charged for this. The whole process is beyond frustrating! I’m upset that I lost all of those passwords, but even more upset that there seems to be no way to get you to stop charging me for this trap of an app. I tried to find a place for support and it all seems to be public forums where other users try to help you troubleshoot. What a load of crap! Do I have to change my bank account now to have you stop withdrawing money for an app I can’t use? Where is the support for this app? Why can’t the master password be reset? Ridiculous.
1Password is Simply The Best, Period

I have been using 1Password for Mac for no less than 7 years and still remember using the first 1Password app when it came out for iPhone (back before it was even called iOS). It was already good then and it’s become so much better over time. It has so many features and is so powerful as an app that I haven’t seen a legitimate competitor for it yet. AgileBits has been relentless in their improvement of the user experience over the years. One thing I really like is that they still give you control over your 1Password file if you want and don’t force you to use an unnecessary online service if you don’t want to, unlike competitors. For me, I prefer to have control and local copies of my 1Password vault and 1Password lets me do that. I constantly say that I pretty much couldn’t live without 1Password because I have a well over 100 logins that I would otherwise never be able to remember or have insecure passwords for to make it easier for me. If you’re reading this and still thinking about getting 1Password, just do it. You will not regret it!!
Carry on.
Impressively Easy & Secure
by PresidentGmAN_ on 2018/11/02 01:38
A friend suggested I give 1Password a try after complaining about trying to remember different passwords and security questions, images, the bouncing numbers maybe capitalized maybe not and my favorite the click on the boxes that “have a wheel or car or sign”. I purchased 1 year for around $79 or $99 a year or two ago. First thing first, down load the app extension on your devices. For me that meant, app on iPhone, MacBook, surface pro, and Dell. I added the extension to Safari and chrome. I was curious to see how the app worked, so on my iPhone within the 1password app Facebook was the first website I tried. I entered the information into the app. Saved it. Then looked on all of the devices and Facebook info. Was there. Not sure if this helps but I HIGHLY suggest you try it. It has helped me and my family so much. I helped my mother and father (60’s) organize their stuff and if something happens no one knew where to find. And of course my kids loved the idea of Dad having their passwords LoL. But they have mine so it helped build trust. Good luck
When you need the Very Best

After many, many OS updates, my no longer supported secure note saver app failed to load. Thankfully, my iPad hadn't updated yet so my backup copy of the date file was still available. Even so, I have hundreds of data records, and moving them all to another app was gonna be a nightmare. I played with a number of apps until I found this one! Building a new data base that can be accessed from any PC or IOS device was huge!! No endless hours of entering hundreds of records via an iPhone keypad! Even using a PC keyboard, it took most of two days to rebuild my base of secure data records and passwords. An update on any authorized device is Immediately seen on all other devices! This is great! And I've only touched the Basic features of this App!! Now I'm constantly looking for things to add! Insurance data, vehicle info and numbers, just about any piece of information you might need on a moments notice and the touch of a button. Looking for a very secure data saver, give the trial period a shot; I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
so much potential, so often frustrating
by stevenspeilburg1112 on 2018/12/25 18:29
1. why can’t we have the option to not auto-unlock on exit (until the phone resets) like we do on the Mac? why on earth do you frustratingly limit it to one hour? FaceID is still extremely slow, but also extremely secure. much more secure than the password I have on my mac. So doing it over and over again - as often as 12 times a day when I’m at work - AFTER I’ve already logged into my phone - is absolutely ridiculous. Please give power-users more flexibility. The WHOLE POINT of using 1Password, IMO, is having total flexibility over all my authentication tools and integrating them as seamlessly as possible into my workflow. 2. 1Password fails dramatically when it comes to url-checking, which, in some ways, is okay. It’s not an easy problem when websites have ridiculous authentication schemes/URLS across origins. So why then does the UI for the iOS12 PW integration only show me whatever matches the URL. No search? Seriously? I have to then open 1Password, FaceID AGAIN, and start the whole process over again. Painfully slow. The extra star is because it’s beautifully designed and has the right foundation. But right now, it’s so, so, so frustratingly slow.
Revised Review
by robryd on 2020/02/04 14:41
My original review criticized the process of getting started with the app — specifically, synchronizing the records on my iMac with my phone and tablet. I contacted support and they identified the problem quickly: I had inadvertently opened phone and tablet into a different account. Once I fixed that, synchronization worked as advertised. Now that it’s all working (including sharing with my wife via a family account) I am very happy with 1PW. It does everything I hoped it would. I especially like the ability to add tags to a record, which makes things easier to find. My four-star rating is the average of five for the way it works now and three for the process of getting started. I haven’t changed my opinion that getting started is convoluted and frustrating. Many other reviewers have said the same. You coders working on the app need to make that better (this is much more important than adding new features), and whoever writes the documentation needs to simplify it and then test it out with people like me who are unfamiliar with the program.
Forgetting their customer roots
by ProfessorUCB on 2019/08/01 01:22
In the past I had a good amount of respect for 1password. I had tried other programs, yet 1password seemed to stay ahead of the pack in maintaining state-of-the-art. In the latest release, though, the desktop version has an incredibly annoying alert that this or that password is duplicated in other contexts -1password support confirms that the annoying alert cannot be removed. Their response to me and others was basically they are the best judge of proper security measures and indeed I should eliminate my duplicate passwords. No empathy, no imagination that I might have an rationale behind my process, just an insistence that their user base should view the permanent intrusion as a feature. My tough luck. I should have seen what was coming when they introduced, unannounced, the method of returning to their browser from their items screen by touching between two icons in the lower navigation bar -very non intuitive and archaic for an advanced app developer. My conclusion is that 1password has grown to be a “big” company: it feels as though the developers are preparing the app to be sold to Google or Microsoft or....
An essential utility, works very reliably
by RBDelaware on 2017/12/18 22:52
I’ve been a many-years user of 1Password. Use it every day, many times, on several devices including a desktop, laptop, iPads and iPhones. The app works very reliably (it has NEVER -in years- failed to provide ready access to my hundreds of passwords, logins, servers, secure notes, etc). The interface has improved over the years, and it’s now, mostly, intuitive. The “multiple vaults” feature seems superfluous to me (can’t think how it might be useful), but doesn’t get in the way. Search is quick, but not “instant” (with 400+ entries). The password generator works very well and is very useful. The interface with multiple browsers, too, works very well (though not flawlessly) with Safari and Firefox. (There are sometimes “hesitations” there, which probably are related to the browsers’ handling of extensions.) I resent the “subscription” pay model, but since this is, indeed, an essential, everyday utility for me, I think the cost is reasonable, on balance. (I’d prefer to make my own decision about when to pay for a new version.)
Awesome Password Manager with great support
by DaphneD on 2018/10/12 04:34
Been using 1Password for a long time. Used to have a glowing review here, but there are enough of those. So instead going to give a shout out to their support forums. Not only does this app do a great job of managing my passwords, but they are very proactive in dealing with customer concerns, security issues, etc. at their support forums. When security issues arise with password managers they tend to post honest details about the problems. They seem to listen to feedback, have made details about how the password database is stores publicly available, so external security researches can double check on it. It’s well and good to talk about how well a password manager functions, but the important stuff is under the hood and hard for most people to tell how secure it actually is. AgileBits does a great job of addressing those concerns. So yes, the password manager has lots of cool useful features, but those are just icing. The underlying security models and the well handled support forums are why I rate this 5 stars.
Amazing for peace of mind
by gabizou on 2017/09/20 07:04
As far as I understand, I’ve been using 1Password for probably over a decade now, since my dad introduced it to me when I first started needing to enhance my online security. From what I love about the app is the constant synchronization between my computers, my iPad, and my phone. It’s just so simple! And with iOS 11, they added drag an drop? They just keep adding more and more features to keep it fresh and usable. I try to imagine what it would be like if the app was the same app from many years ago when the only online syncing option was through Dropbox.... now everything is in iCloud for me. My one issue is something more of an issue that I think iOS restricts, and that’s to allow 1Password access to keyboards to use usernames and passwords in other apps on the phone. With the new side loading multitasking in iOS 11, the iPad experience is great, but on the phone, it’s still somewhat annoying to double tap to switch between apps etc. Still, it’s always my recommended password manager to everyone I know.
Awesome product from an awesome company
by assault_is_eternal on 2018/09/18 19:25
This isn’t a review of 1password, per se. It’s an awesome product, I’ve been using it for years, and I love it. This is more of a review of the company itself. As you may know, Apple introduced a new feature in iOS 12 that allows you to use an app like 1Password in place of (or in conjunction with) Keychain. So no more leaving an app to launch 1password, copy the password, then relaunch the app to paste the password. It’s the biggest improvement since the share feature was introduced. To be fair, though, it’s just because Apple decided to loosen the reins a little bit. However, 1password had to be tweaked to take advantage of this new ability. They could have forced us to switch to a subscription plan in order to take advantage of this ability. But they didn’t; they gave it has a free update. I didn’t upgrade to the latest stand-alone version of 1Password on my Mac when it came out. But I have now, out of respect for this company. Thank you for this wonderful update!
Security is #1...therefore you need 1Password!
by justjackhh on 2020/08/04 22:58
I started using 1 Password many years ago, before most people ever heard of it! I held a Govt position that required extremely high-levels of data security demanding complex, extremely long, variable length (up to 16 in some cases), duplicate-character limitations and never repeatable with routine change requirements! Passwords were a way of life at work and therefore became habitual in private life. Without a safe, secure and trustable password protection app I would be lost. It’s just not possible for me to remember all of the passwords I routinely need. 1Password solved all of my password concerns and introduced a few potential gaps in my thinking too...and then had solutions to those problems! I highly recommend you give it a try. Take my advice don’t use your “one favorite” password for your logins! There’s no need with 1Password...if you don’t want to make up your own, it will even recommend them! Backup can be automatic too so you’ll never lose you “keys.” r/jack
Absolutely Great. Get Organized.
by Albie56 on 2018/09/22 02:14
I’ve been using this app for several years and it has really increased the security of my online accounts by having unique and strong passwords for all accounts. No more resetting my password every time I want to log into a rarely used account. I’ve had it long enough that I have now built a collection of hundreds of passwords and they’re all up to date, unique and secure. I’m still holding off on the subscription service, I back up to iCloud and it has always synced my several iOS devices and iMac perfectly. If I update a password on one iPhone the other iPhone or iPad will reflect that instantly. They also offer a great security white paper which is actually fun to read. I really wish they would have utilized the Cloud Kit Share function to share a vault with my wife via iCloud. This can still be done by syncing thru Dropbox instead of iCloud but I trust iCloud with my encrypted vault more than Dropbox. If you’re really paranoid, you can backup via WiFi to you Mac. This app is nearly perfect. Developers: please do not force your Premium Purchase members into your subscription service, I’d probably give the system up. I’d gladly pay again during a major update. Despite your incredible security I’m just not ready to have my data on your AWS servers. Get this app, it will literally change your life in many ways if you’re diligent in keeping it updated, which is easy because it’ll prompt you on MacOS.
Couldn’t manage SAFE AND EASY INTERNET BROWSING without 1Password
by mjbuzzy on 2018/07/21 09:41
I have used this app since its inception, many years ago. I was so lucky to stumble upon this, somewhat unknown app, then. It has become a very popular app since that time and there are plenty of reasons why this is so. It has become the cornerstone in my ability to browse the web in a very safe manner. I use many sites, each with its own password (for MY security, I don’t duplicate). I could NEVER remember all of them, and 1Password has never failed me in my ability to navigate each and every login during my day and also assisting me in creating safe logins (which, again, I don’t need to remember) for both the Mac OS and IOS. I can not speak highly enough of this app. They are constantly updating it to offer better way for the app to work and assist me in my task of logging into and working with various sites. I understand there are other password apps out there, but this app has, over many years, consistently lived up to its hype.
Outstanding Password Security
by Bernfrin on 2018/07/12 10:55
I have spent more money on password managers than I care to admit. 1Password was not the last password manager that I purchased, but it is the one I keep returning to. I love the fact that I can add or change a password on my desktop/iPhone or iPad and the changes automatically sync to my other devices. The software is outstanding and the support when needed is outstanding. Don't waste your money trying a bunch of different password managers like I have. Buy 1Password and you won't be disappointed. 1Password 7 for Windows was recently released the software is good, the design is terrible and customer service leaves much to be desired. The developers thought it would be a good idea to have constant harassing messages telling you your password is weak or your website isn’t secure because it isn’t https://. When I commented that I didn’t appreciate the software being “nanny state software” nor did I appreciate constant “in your face harassing software”, I was belittled and insulted by “customer service” personnel on the user forum. 1Password used to be fairly good. Now I would avoid, and I would not recommend to anyone.
The best password app no more
by R64357 on 2019/10/06 05:53
Long time user, I purchased this app early on. The main feature was security. The safe was stored locally only and therefore no concerns for cloud security. It costs a few bucks if I recall and that was a good value. The option to use cloud (iCloud, Dropbox, etc) was always an available feature...nice for users seeking to sync their password safe to other devices...but like many I prefer to keep it offline for security. I recently recommended this app to a friend but when they installed it, the option to purchase the app was no longer available. It is now a monthly subscription only. The option for local storage was removed. After some negative reviews, local storage was quietly returned as an feature, but the monthly subscription is still required. As an early adopter, I am apparently grandfathered in, but I have switched to another password app that stores locally by default. A shame, because this was once a five star app, hands down. Suggestion to developers: sell the app outright like you used to and store the database locally by default. For those users that do trust their passwords in the cloud, offer the sync service for an extra charge as an in app purchase.
Still the best and plays nice across all platforms
by LargeFeet on 2019/06/06 20:17
Started using this maybe 10 ish years ago because my memory sucked then and hasn’t gotten any better. After years of use now, I’ve seen the app evolve and just keep getting better. Although everyone is finally giving security the attention it deserves...this app has always been on top and is being updated constantly. Some of the integrated ones are good, but I still have this app as my main password type app as it does so much more and can be integrated everywhere since it doesn’t play favorites...don’t get me wrong...the others are nice respectively and I do use them just in case. But it just seems to me the flexibility, compatibility, updates, and constant attention 1Password offers sets it aside from others. My only gripe is I wish there was a one time purchase option as in the past. ...”subscriptions” drive me nuts...I get it from the Dev side and $ side but uhhhgggg! Keep up the good work guys....GUI and themes please!
Great app but I need better printing capability
by Redbaron747 on 2018/12/01 15:58
This is the best app I know for the purpose at hand and have recommended it to many of my friends. However I need to be able to print every so often all my info of passwords in Password1 on paper (not just individually each one on one page but continuously all of them in alphabetical order) for safekeeping in case something happens to the hardware software or to myself and all this crucial information in digital format is suddenly lost or no longer accessible. Currently I solve this problem by maintaining another safe spreadsheet with the same info as a backup that I can print every so often and keep in my safety deposit box. This is of course a wasteful, time consuming, and possibly unreliable (requiring two separate manual entries) duplication I would like to avoid if I could just print all at once all that I have stored in Password1. Wolf Bender PS: I had recommended this before several years ago but no update has so far I know made available this capability.
Poor customer support, too much time to update passwords
by Kr360 on 2020/01/08 16:31
Just started using 1password on my iphone and Ipad which run IOS 13.3. Product good if you are starting from scratch and creating new passwords. Product is also good if you already have strong passwords for accounts you have. Product is bad for people like me who have a ton of passwords that are weak and need changing. I have been spending too much time using various methods to access 1passwords strong password generator on its website (if this feature is in its app it is not apparent) and to use the password generated to update the prompts at various websites for entering a new password and to copy this new password into my existing 1password website login password for the corresponding site. One other word of caution, 1password support is bad. There is no phone number to call. You have to send an email to them. It is day three today and I have not heard back from anyone. I can only imagine how I would feel if a glitch in 1password caused me to not to be able to access my bank accounts while their support people were on their 365 day vacation at the company. I will be checking out LastPass and other similar products.
Best password manager
by Simdude on 2019/09/27 13:05
After LastPass has issues with 13.1, I decided to give 1 password a try. So glad I did. They make it simple to pull in your data from LastPass and their app is so much more polished. The overall layout and dark mode support are fantastic. Keep up the good work! I also want to add there is a lot of misinformation in many of the reviews. You will not lose access to your passwords if you cancel your subscription. You will simply have read only access. As far as price they are competitive with other password managers. I hate subscriptions as much as many but would add a developer myself I will tell you it’s not easy to keep a sustainable software business but only selling fixed licenses. The App Store is far to crowded now. Would you rather the company goes bankrupt and you lose a great app? If you want to save some money buy iTunes cards at Costco when they are on sale or use coin Star to use change lying around to add to your account.
Just get it — NOW!

So I haven’t written a review for an app in years but this is really an awesome app and I wish I had downloaded it sooner. I am definitely going to pay for it monthly moving forward. I am an all-Apple user and while iCloud Keychain is convenient, the features of 1Password are far more comprehensive and organized. Being that everything is online right now (even more so with COVID-19) logging into accounts can be a major pain and resetting passwords is a tremendous waste of time. Having the ability to “reset it and forget it” with this app has become a massive time saver for me. You will thank me later! Furthermore the customer service is wonderful and the desktop app (for Mac OS) works great too. The only thing I would like to see is the ability to add custom images to a listing on the iOS app (you can do it on the desktop version.) Other than that this app is really polished and a pleasure to use! Just start using it now and you won’t regret it!
Best pw manager hands down !
by GrlyQ on 2018/10/16 14:58
I’ve been using for years I don’t even remember when I first started it’s been that long I’m a paid member and I will always be. I love the ease quickness Face ID adding notes admin pws soc sec credit cards just everything so much I can’t even list. It keeps you up to date notifies you of overuse or time to change if need be your pw and it’s always ALWAYS kept up to date. The uix is the nicest of all the password managers the developers are right there when you neeed them and every update is better than the previous. I see some reviewers with low stars saying stuff like you have to fill all the lines or you can’t save your pw not true or they press notes and it doesn’t open etc and I’m telling you that’s simply not true and Face ID is super quick. I’m assuming they must not be using it correctly somehow which is crazy bc it’s so simple I have on all my devices iPad Pro Mac Pro and Xs max I can’t live without it. Thank you so much for all you do!
Nothing else comes close

I miss the built-in browser and hate that some apps are trying to push Apple’s keychain instead now (more so than before), but it’s still the best password manager out there, imo. I used to work for a cyber security company as a developer, where I became increasing paranoid 😂, and I trust it. Having said that, a good password manager is only one part of a strong security plan. Make sure your hard drives are always encrypted on your laptop, limit sharing locations, only upgrade software immediately when you know it has a security fix (sometimes there is a vulnerability in new versions), and a bunch of other stuff you can do. Finally, be very careful with your master password! Devs don’t bother you with requesting reviews, it’s quite organized and has many useful security features. Never is laggy or glitchy. Sync seems to work well. Seems a great app and company. Been using it for several years now and can highly recommend it.
Fantastic software, integration & tech support.

After hearing about 1Password for years in Macworld magazine, I finally decided to purchase both the Mac and iOS versions. I have to say that I'm incredibly impressed by this software and how it so easily handles very sensitive information. I'm also equally impressed by the customer support. I purchased the iOS version 3 days before this new version came out which required another purchase. Of course I am not opposed to developers making a fair living off of creating high quality software, but since it was just a matter of days, I thought I might as well contact them and ask if I could get a free upgrade. I heard back right away and they were able to reimburse me via Paypal. I'm very grateful and the person I was in contact with had an incredibly genuine, helpful and friendly attitude. Can't say enough and I'm sure I'll continue to support this software & these developers for years and years to come.
It's perfect

I've been using 1Password for many years, first on my Macs and then my iOS devices as well. To say that it changed my life might seem like hyperbole, but it isn't. Although I knew better, I used to take all the usual shortcuts—weak passwords, reused passwords, passwords written on scraps of paper or saved in plain text files—because it seemed impossible to manage the myriad accounts and logins I needed to know. With 1Password, I trust can create strong, unique passwords (which it can generate itself to fit whatever requirements a site calls for) and not have to worry about locking myself out. Browser integration makes it simple to create, update, and fill passwords (and other info like credit cards and mailing address) for any site. On iOS, you can use TouchID/Facial Recognition to unlock your vault for even more seamless use. I recently opted for the subscription family plan, so everyone gets their own secure and private vault. 1Password is fantastic.
UNBELIEVABLY UNRELIABLE
by Maru on 2019/09/18 02:57
I Left my only review last year or the year before because i am a customer for maybe 10 years and haven not only paid the expensive price back then for the Mac license, when the IOS came i bought it and have been blindly relying on keeping all my extremely important information for all these years, thinking Dave Teare was a serious developer taking the importance of your data safe and reliable not disappearing and take your protected passwords seriousness as they are to you. But !!! I HAVE SPENT PROBABLY A WEEK trying to fix the Upgrade from version 6 to 7 as the upgrades i have all automated. Now after a week and maybe a month of no passwords or logins after upgrade i see they decided to charge a monthly MEMBERSHIP !!!!!!!!! NO WARNING NO NOTHING, I HAVE LICENSE ACTUALLY 2 LICENSES AS I PURCHASED A SECOND ONE UNKNOWINGLY THINKING I NEEDED TO BACK ON VERSION 4, BUT THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE A CUSTOMER CAN HAVE ON YOUR DATA THAT WHAT THE APP IS SUPPOSED TO DO IS ALLOW YOU TO FORGET YOUR LOGINS AND PASSWORDS. DON’T PAY FOR THIS LACK OF DECENCY ,UNRELIABLE APP ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY AND THEY MAKE IT OBVIOUS. A WARNING AND A DECENT UPGRADE PRICE WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. NOW I WILL KEEP MY INFORMATION OUT OF ANY OF THIS APPS THAT NEVER WORK, TRYING TO KEEP YOU TIED IN A MEMBERSHIP AS IF IT WAS A SERVICE.

Setup
by 1Passwordsucks on 2021/01/14 21:01

But like I said, you'll only hit it in BigCorp environments.

by nursecolleen837 on 2021/01/12 13:50
This app has been invaluable to us whether checking into an airline or reviewing financial data or just the simplicity of an online purchase. With the huge encryption we feel super safe and using it and cannot believe people actually try and function without it. Give us a piece of paper and the data is lost. Immediately we put our information into our app and have loved it for a couple of years now. Scary to be without it. I can’t say enough positive.

Apple keychain is bare-bones and useful, but 1Password is full service luxury.

by Barbara in Vero on 2021/01/11 14:22

Never used a password manager, this is awesome!
by RobEastman on 2021/01/11 14:00
I have never used a password manager before 1Password. I should have started a long time ago! I have the family plan and the shared vault feature with my wife is awesome! She was skeptical at first, but loves it now! We now have complex passwords for our hundreds of accounts. Also, if I die unexpectedly my wife or heirs can access all my accounts using the masterkey and my account password which is stored offline in a secured physical safe.

Great Password Manger!
by ManageCPU on 2021/01/07 04:25
I have tried many other password managers like but found 1Password to be most intuitive and user friendly to me. I also liked having the option on the browser extension to fill in when you wanted too, not auto fill and sign you in automatically when you got into the sign in page. Also browser extension had a nice configuration. The app on the phone and Computer also worked really well. Overall it did mange all my passwords in a nice organized place and the browser extension works great and have no complaints. Definitely a really good password manager for daily use and management of overflowing passwords. Thanks Developers!

by CrystalSkier on 2021/01/05 16:46
If you don’t use a password manager you need to start doing so immediately.

I highly recommend.

by Butter10101 on 2021/01/03 17:22
I’ve probably had 1Password for about three years now.

Hands Down!

Absolutely the Best! If you are shopping around before you pick. Just stop now and go with 1Password. They make security so easy for the country common folk. Awesome!

Game changer
by Ashbo Adams on 2021/01/02 14:41
1Password is a game changer. Last year, my New Years resolution was to get my passwords in one place and make them more secure. 1Password helped me reach that goal. Where is the password generator on the mobile app?
Brilliant, can’t e-live without it.

Password generator is frustrating to use
by ach1205 on 2021/01/02 06:17
I cannot easily modify the preview of the password generator.

Ridiculous.
1Password is Simply The Best, Period
by Daniel O. on 2017/11/05 20:35
I have been using 1Password for Mac for no less than 7 years and still remember using the first 1Password app when it came out for iPhone (back before it was even called iOS).
