Due to a glitch in their app While I was trying to book I got no confirmation that my trip was booked. So I proceeded to try again. Second time my confirmation came through. I was charged for both bookings. When I called to find out why they said I was booked at 2 separate hotels and that I could not be refunded because the hotel was already paid. But the first time I called they said that I had to call my bank and see why I was charged twice. That until the charges were processed they couldn’t do anything. Hey, if $104 is worth losing my business over than fine! Keep the money. I will be using Orbitz in the future.

Don’t recommend, came to LA saying I had a hotel booked, went to the hotel , hotel said they (Hotwire)canceled and I didn’t get a notification or anything saying the cancelled it and it’s the second time I had to wait for my Money and plus I don’t get a hotel booked and get left hanging, what if I didn’t have extra money ?where would I be sleeping ?

Booked a car rental. My flight was late because all flights into LAX were diverted for a torrential storm. At 7:30 pm the car rental counter was closed. Stranded without a car & Hotwire says it’s my fault. I should have phoned them (from inside the plane). Now I’m on an interminable hold. No feedback on the line of any kind to assure that “someone will be with you shortly.” Hotwire is a HOT MESS. Somehow Hotwire has managed to hire a support team that come on the line already hostile.

The Hotwire app glitched and the payment went through my bank but not Hotwire all I needed was them to send a email to my bank saying they never received payment. And they kept transferring me to people for a hour before saying they couldn’t just send a email. I recommend any other travel agency.

If you have a Hotwire credit you cannot use it through the app. The app rates for example for hot rate are 5-15% less than the website. So not only can you not get the best rate, the only way they price match is if a competitor is cheaper which is almost never the case. So if I’d have a credit, your actually losing money. They will not honor the change. They should support Hotwire credit on the app. And their chat response team never responds.

Please be aware that Hotwire uses second rate chains for the hot rate . Yes the price is low but you get what you pay for! In this case aggravation . Do not book with easi rent, ace, sixt or the like!!!! They keep you in a building for over an hour with a fan in 80 degree weather! Then they haggle you for up charges ! First they will tell you a scare tactic to buy additional coverage for 11 dollars a day! If you do not have a PAPER copy of your personal full auto coverage they will not accept that you have adequate insurance and tell you they will not rent you a car! Second they badger you to buy a sun pass for tolls and gas from them. Please keep toll receipts in case u get a bill from them. To save a few bucks it not worth it. Go to a name brand car company !!

I recently booked a hotel in Montgomery Alabama. When I showed up to check in no one was at the night window. I rang bell and called hotel phone. I immediately informed Hotwire and they tried calling hotel. No answer. I slept in my car in the hotel parking lot. After 3 months of back and forth with Hotwire they informed me the hotel told them that it’s my fault and Hotwire is not refunding my money.

The website clearly said that the hotel was refundable if it had a specific hotwire itinerary number. When I tried to cancel they refused to do so even though I have a copy of the website ~and my itinerary clearly showing that they were deceitful~ be careful if you book here because you will not get a refund even if you try to cancel five minutes after you made the reservation

Hotwire is by far the worse booking site I could have possibly used. There customer service agents are not helpful, I requested to be escalated to a supervisor and then they ignored my request. My issues were bit resolved and I was unable to receive a refund that even the rental company who I used said they were happy to issue. On my family’s vacation to Florida my wallet was left on the plane. I had my id but sadly my license and such were in the wallet. Upon getting to the car rental place they would not allow me to retrieve the car without the license but they would refund it. Hot wires policy said I needed an id and since I didn’t have it there was nothing they could do to help me. So now I have no car and won’t be refunded. The customer service rep then went on to say I won’t transfer you to a manager because they will just tell me the same and stopped responding. If the company the rental was from would honor a refund I don’t see why Hotwire shouldn’t. Furthermore this would have been easier to accept if the person I spoke with wasn’t so rude and condescending. This was not an ordinary circumstance and if this is their policy I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I plan on making complaints on the site until someone gives me a more accurate response. And for the record the booking policy says id not drivers license if this wants to become a technicality thing. BBB will hear this.

It’s not their business platform that’s the problem. It’s the way they will just lie to you in order to get out of doing the right thing. They give you a credit for an issue, then make the capability for using that credit almost impossible, and they lie about their ability to assign that credit to your reservation. Just hideous liars.

I booked a trip using Hotwire for my rental car. The place we were going had a spike in COVID-19 cases and we were forced to cancel our trip. The airline and the Airbnb granted us a return. Hotwire just said, no return, that is our policy. I have been under the understanding the COVID-19 related travel bans prohibited companies to refuse refunds for those restrictions. I then told them, while being completely kind and not upset, that I will never do business with them again and tell all of my social media followers to do the same. They said, that is your choice, this is our policy. It isn’t even the money, they were just rude and unkind and uncaring. The companies that are going to come out of COVID-19 world doing well need caring and empathy. I have used this service for years and would have continued to do so. But now for $400 they have generated a lifelong enemy that will shout from the rooftops to never use Hotwire for travel!

They offered me a car rental for $77 Dollars and when I get to the car rental they tell me I have to pay additional $79. I thought I was paying a one time flat fee that they offer on their website. Never again. This happened on my bday also of all days. I really hope that karma comes around and you get what you deserve for ripping people off. NEVER AGAIN!!

Wow where to start, first I booked a Hot wire deal for a hotel in Shamrock, Tx. I showed up at the hotel by the address found in my confirmation however they could not find my reservation. Come to find out somehow they have this account mixed up with another hotel in Dallas, TX. When I called Hotwire, I was hung up on 3 times due to them “not getting ahold of the hotel to verify reservation” I advised them the phone # they have associated with this hotel is not correct. I provided the correct phone number to them by a simple google search and 1 rep hung up on me when she told me she called them and no one answered. I placed her on hold and called the hotel and they answered immediately. When I told her this she hung up on me. The 2nd time I spoke with a rep she told me the number that I provided to her for the hotel was a cell #. I advised her it isn’t and did a 3 way call with the hotel. They confirmed they did not have a reservation for me and that I am not the first person who this has happened to with them through hotwire. The rep hung up on us during our conversation! The 3rd rep, I don’t even know what happened, I thought she was actually gonna do something but she hung up when I was on hold and it went to some voicemail message. I have NEVER had problems with hotwire before, I use them frequently however I will NEVER use them again after this! I have spent at least 2 hours on the phone with them and I still have not gotten a refund!!!!

If you want to reserve a specific car you want and be greeted by a downgrade, then Hotwire is for you! Been on hold with them for almost an hour now even after multiple support agents said the situation would be rectified if I provided them the info from the agency paperwork that documents the downgrade. They also spoke with the manager at National (terrible rental car service, first of all), and still nothing was done. Still waiting on their “customer support”...

Easily the worst booking site and customer service! This is a very dishonest company that never delivers on there promises. I cancelled a reservation on July 21, 2020 and was told a refund was being processed. 2 weeks later I was to it had to go through a manual refund process. For the next couple of months I was told it was still processing. It’s now September 26, 2020 and I’m told not to worry it’s still coming. What a scam! Don’t ever use Hotwire regardless of the rates.

I paid for a hotel that I didn’t even use and I was told I can’t change it because I made the human error of not fixing it when I booked it the night before the day I was going to actually stay. They said they can’t help me because it’s a hotel policy and hotel tells me they can’t change it because it’s a Hotwire policy. I was told by aloft I can change the date and Hotwire told me no at all. They didn’t wanna help me out but just say sorry we took your money have a nice day.....after spending a lot of money with Hotwire already it’s disappointing. I loved Hotwire but now will only use trip advisor or kayak. Trip advisor gave me a first time discount for the inconvenience of Hotwire. Definitely recommended trip advisor

I originally loved Hotwire. It’s what I’ve used for years to book hotels and rental cars. HOWEVER, their policies are complete garbage if you get stuck in a bind. Especially during Covid-19 and all the special restrictions for each state. I live in New York and our governor doesn’t care about the 2 week quarantine mandate that was lifted by the CDC. So me thinking it was now ok to travel (without having that mandatory quarantine) I booked a trip to Utah with almost 600 dollars worth of hotel nights and car rental days. Once I found out that I couldn’t travel there because of our jobs not wanting us to have to quarantine for two weeks, I immediately got ahold of Hotwire assuming they would respond as a good company like Delta would and show compassion on the matter and refund me for the misunderstanding. Long story short, I talked to four different people with one of them being a supervisor and they all said the same thing. Their policy is this and they will not stray from it no matter what. They wouldn’t even give me credit through Hotwire for the 600 dollars I just lost because of something out of my control. DO NOT USE HOTWIRE. THEY WILL ROB YOU THE FIRST CHANCE THEY GET. There is no compassion, there is no forgiveness. This company is scum and it needs to have light shed on it.

Their customer support is horrific to say the least. A booking was made on accident, and I had confirmation from the hotel and a representative from the company stating I will be issued a refund for the mistake. Long story short, they decided to not follow through and keep my money despite me having a conversation saved between me and a representative where the rep states, “it seems that the hotel authorized a refund for this reservation”. Terrible, terrible customer experience. You guys just lost a really good customer, I’ll be mentioning this to everyone I know.

I tried to rent a car for a trip to DFW from SNA in OC California so used Hotwire to setup the rental car and boy what a big mistake that was. First they setup a rental at a downtown Dallas Hertz then they refused to change it to the DFW Hertz and said you have to speak to Herty who told me I have to speak to Hotwire so after about 4hrs of this we finally got an Uber to the hotel and when I asked for a refund for the most expensive SUV with insurance they refused to refund the $160.

I have been given the worst service I have ever received from Hotwire. Every booking of 2020 has been problematic and never solved correctly nor do they try to make up for their mistakes. I will never in my life use this app again. I’ve been booking with this company for over 6 years but that will certainly end Today! I don’t recommend booking with them simply because when they make their mistakes or don’t do as they said they would, they do not compensate for it! I also lost a my cat dealing with a hotel on their site. And nothing will ever be done! Yeah you guys have failed me!

First time used it less than a year ago almost lost my reservation because the hotel was overbooked, and this past weekend 08/02/2020 I reserved a car within a week before my trip and when I got to the place to get my car the car that I reserved (pick up) wasn’t available. Had to cancel my trip! Will never use it again!

Had reserved a hotel during the Covid pandemic. Before leaving for said trip I was informed by the business who was to keep my pet overnight that they were closing down due to an employee contracting the virus. Requested a cancellation on the app and it was marked as “cancellation requested”. After nothing for a few weeks I finally called in and was told I should have called to make the cancellation and there was nothing they could do. What’s the point of being able to cancel a hotel through the app if I have to also call in. There was zero correspondence from them even though they have all my contact information. Use hotels.com they have fantastic customer service and better deals. This app has been sent to the delete pile. USE A DIFFERENT BOOKING APP AT ALL COSTS.

Do not book through Hotwire after 12. None of the hotels will honor your reservation! Hot wire does not explain it before hand. While customer service is attentive Hotwires policy is so vague that they aren’t any help. Book on your own. The convenience isn’t worth the headache.

I am sick and tired of this company's unaccountable customer service. The company posts information on its site and app about hotel amenities and services that are not true, and then barley steps up to correct their mistake. What's worse, even after you report the mistake, they don't change the inaccurate information posted. Another reviewer called the company "fraudulent," they weren't far off from the truth. Wasn't the first time I had to call my credit card company to contest their charges and probably won't be the last time.

This is the worst hotel booking site I have ever dealt with. They sent a massive email out to cancel bookings at hotels due to the coronavirus and they would be issuing refund because of such. I have been fighting with them since March. In which they continue to tell me the same story “Our back office team needs time to research the inquiry please allow 3-5 days and we will send you an Email” I have been told this at least 5 times since I started this crap in March. 🤬 They OWE ME 300.00!!! 😡

I’ve used Hotwire twice now, both to book hotels in Charlotte, NC. First one was a 4-Star Hotel in Uptown Charlotte for about $111/night which was about $140 cheaper than any other hotel in the city. Next time I used it we got a 4-Star Hotel in the heart of the city for about $104/night - even better than the first time! Although you may not know exactly where you’re staying at the time of booking, it may be worth while if you are planning on being in a big city or somewhere loaded with hotels because this website will give you the best rate because of that no show until book policy. Just read the details like free WiFi, parking, choose your bed or hotel chooses for you, etc. before booking and you shouldn’t have a problem!!

Wow where to start, first I booked a Hot wire deal for a hotel in Shamrock, Tx. I showed up at the hotel by the address found in my confirmation however they could not find my reservation. Come to find out somehow they have this account mixed up with another hotel in Dallas, TX. When I called Hotwire, I was hung up on 3 times due to them “not getting ahold of the hotel to verify reservation” I advised them the phone # they have associated with this hotel is not correct. I provided the correct phone number to them by a simple google search and 1 rep hung up on me when she told me she called them and no one answered. I placed her on hold and called the hotel and they answered immediately. When I told her this she hung up on me. The 2nd time I spoke with a rep she told me the number that I provided to her for the hotel was a cell #. I advised her it isn’t and did a 3 way call with the hotel. They confirmed they did not have a reservation for me and that I am not the first person who this has happened to with them through hotwire. The rep hung up on us during our conversation! The 3rd rep, I don’t even know what happened, I thought she was actually gonna do something but she hung up when I was on hold and it went to some voicemail message. I have NEVER had problems with hotwire before, I use them frequently however I will NEVER use them again after this! I have spent at least 2 hours on the phone with them and I still have not gotten a refund!!!!

Hotwire is by far the worse booking site I could have possibly used. There customer service agents are not helpful, I requested to be escalated to a supervisor and then they ignored my request. My issues were bit resolved and I was unable to receive a refund that even the rental company who I used said they were happy to issue. On my family’s vacation to Florida my wallet was left on the plane. I had my id but sadly my license and such were in the wallet. Upon getting to the car rental place they would not allow me to retrieve the car without the license but they would refund it. Hot wires policy said I needed an id and since I didn’t have it there was nothing they could do to help me. So now I have no car and won’t be refunded. The customer service rep then went on to say I won’t transfer you to a manager because they will just tell me the same and stopped responding. If the company the rental was from would honor a refund I don’t see why Hotwire shouldn’t. Furthermore this would have been easier to accept if the person I spoke with wasn’t so rude and condescending. This was not an ordinary circumstance and if this is their policy I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I plan on making complaints on the site until someone gives me a more accurate response. And for the record the booking policy says id not drivers license if this wants to become a technicality thing. BBB will hear this.

I originally loved Hotwire. It’s what I’ve used for years to book hotels and rental cars. HOWEVER, their policies are complete garbage if you get stuck in a bind. Especially during Covid-19 and all the special restrictions for each state. I live in New York and our governor doesn’t care about the 2 week quarantine mandate that was lifted by the CDC. So me thinking it was now ok to travel (without having that mandatory quarantine) I booked a trip to Utah with almost 600 dollars worth of hotel nights and car rental days. Once I found out that I couldn’t travel there because of our jobs not wanting us to have to quarantine for two weeks, I immediately got ahold of Hotwire assuming they would respond as a good company like Delta would and show compassion on the matter and refund me for the misunderstanding. Long story short, I talked to four different people with one of them being a supervisor and they all said the same thing. Their policy is this and they will not stray from it no matter what. They wouldn’t even give me credit through Hotwire for the 600 dollars I just lost because of something out of my control. DO NOT USE HOTWIRE. THEY WILL ROB YOU THE FIRST CHANCE THEY GET. There is no compassion, there is no forgiveness. This company is scum and it needs to have light shed on it.

Booked a hot deal and my card was charged. I was then brought to a screen that said an error occurred and that deal was no longer available. So I had a full trip charged to my card and Hotwire customer care refused to do anything except lay the blame on my credit card company and me. Took 4 days for the credit to be available on my card again. Their customer care department is a third party company out of Malaysia that refuses to give you information on how to contact Hotwire corporate offices after they ultimately refuse to help you. Stay away from Hotwire. They’ll cause your money to be caught in limbo while you watch hotel prices get higher by the day waiting for it to be freed back to available credit. I booked my room directly through Hampton Inn, the hotel Hotwire suggested I’d get with the hot deal and they were more sympathetic to my problem than Hotwire was and provided the same rate. Do yourself a favor and book directly through the hotel. Many times they’ll honor prices found on apps like Hotwire. Avoid Hotwire, Expedia and Priceline. They’re all the same company who doesn’t care about you. Just a middleman trying to carve a slice of something they don’t deserve.

Worst app ever. For most hotels it only shows 1 picture, even when there are dozens on the Hotwire Website. I tried to book a trip on the app anyway, but it kept saying my credit card wasn’t recognized. So I called my credit card company and they said They authorized the transaction, but Hotwire canceled it. So I called Hotwire and they said it’s because I was trying to book a deal that wasn’t available. After hearing this, I looked again, and the deal still showed up on the app. I also had $15 of “HotDollars” credit, which an email said I could use to book, but couldn’t use it on the app. This app is so much worse than the website. As an aside, the Hotdeals, you know, the deal where it’s cheaper because you don’t know which hotel it is? Yeah, that’s terrible because they tack on higher fees. I booked a Hotdeal that was $10 per day cheaper than if I knew which hotel I was booking. Great deal! Except after I checked out, the Hotdeal wound up being about a dollar per day more than the normal booking after taxes and fees were added. TLDR: Hotwire has good deals, just stay away from the app or the Hotdeals.

Hotwire car rental is such a scam!!! I booked car online on September 30th and I got HOT RATE for it. When I went to rent a car agency ( Ace ) they told me that there is mile limitation for my reservation ( 150 miles a day ) and that I should cancel reservation because if I go further that 450 miles in 3 days I will pay 25 cents per extra mile. These conditions WERE NOT in terms and conditions when I accepted reservation. I called hot wire after agent in ACE told me to call them and cancel. Hot wire did not wanted to cancel my reservation because they told me it was a blind reservation and it is not refundable?! I told them that even if it is blind reservation they SHOULD put all the conditions when you book it, otherwise I got stuck with the car I cannot use. They said they will put those information in the future 😡 I told them I don't care about the future, I want my money back now because it's crazy to scam people like that and do not put all the conditions when you book a car. I ended up being charged for a car I did not use. PEOPLE SAVE YOUR MONEY, do not use HOTWIRE! Their customer service is rude and their supervisors not doing their job.

Our company is removing Hotwire as an option for future travel needs. Due to human error (or perhaps a manipulation by the app) the incorrect date was selected on a reservation. I did make the mistake of confirming that purchase without rechecking the date. Once the error was determined we contacted Hotwire 24+ hours before reservation and they would not cancel and credit. After reaching a supervisor on phone I brought up the fact confirmation email does specify it is prepaid and can’t be cancelled. She wanted to resend confirmation email so I would have the right polices. She sent the email and well it was the exact same. So now I question if I made a human error in date selection or if app moved date. See the hotel was actually sold out for the dates I believe selected and the Hotwire reservation was a night following when the hotel had availability. In any case, Hotwire was unwilling to offer a credit or refund and chooses to loose out on future business. Poorly run and a shame human error is being taken advantage of. Fool me once but not twice!!!

I used Hotwire to book my car rental for a trip 2 months from now. I had to make a change to the dates so went to the hotwire site, no change button to be found. Called customer service and asked to simply change my itinerary dates and was told not possible and reservation non-refundable. Just like that, a click of the button and they are stealing $300 from me. Whatever contracts they have in place with car rental companies, a customer should be able to make a date change, especially for a trip 2 months down the road. We are not talking about airline seats last minute at risk of going unfilled. This is a silly car rental reservation. At minimum Hotwire, you need a flashing pop-up warning with flames at checkout that says something like, “BEWARE Hotwire sucker, if you dare try to make a date change after you click this, just know it won’t happen because we’ve already charged your credit card and pocketed your money!” Next step, contact my state attorney general and file a complaint.

This app is really well designed. We were able to score a great deal on a hotel in downtown Chicago for a family staycation. Thanks to the advanced filters, we could narrow down to a specific neighborhood and find a hotel with a pool. The kids had a blast and we were able to use some of our savings to splurge on a nice meal at the hotel restaurant. I will definitely continue to use Hotwire and will certainly recommend this app to my friends and family. Thank you Hotwire!

PLEASE DON’T USE THIS APP! Just go ahead and stick to booking or Airbnb! I had a reservation for Travelodge in Orlando. When I got to the hotel after a long trip, I was informed the system in the hotel wasn’t working and they could not check me in neither cancel my reservation and refund me so I could go to a different hotel. They left me waiting at the lobby for 2 hours until they could finally get me a room at another hotel. you would think problem solved, right? Wrong! The new hotel was not only more expensive than the one I had already booked, but it was also not as nice. I had booked a room with a king bed and they could only offer me a room with two twin beds. It was a downgrade. In addition, they wouldn’t refund me for relocation costs (such as Uber to the new hotel) nor pay for the difference in price. I wasn’t offered any kind of compensation either! Very poor customer service! I’m very disappointed with the Hotwire app and will never use it again.

I'm a long time user of Hotwire and thought to have learned the ins and outs of the app through experience but when I booked a rentacar with Ace @ LAX I was greatly disappointed to discover not only is Hotwire deceptive but also dishonest. They are swindlers! A few days before pickup they issue a notice on where to pick up your car. It stated there’s a shuttle from the airport to Ace but sure enough I soon discovered there is no shuttle bus to Ace whatsoever! In fact, ACE's scam is to use other car rental shuttles (thrifty is closest). I was walking around the airport jet lagged after a 10 hour flight like a zombie with my family in tow trying to get to my car. It’s absurd! I attempted to get a taxi but they told me $30 min for a 5 min. ride. Finally I figured out how to get there by thrifty's shuttle. What’s more, I wrote a long letter to Hotwire explaining my predicament and got no response. They never reply to these reviews here because they are swindlers and liars. I pray nobody goes through rentacar hell like I did.

This app and the company behind it are horrible and you can save yourself a lot of pain by avoiding them both. I was trying to book a hotel for the following week and noticed that the app kept changing my dates to the current day every time I refreshed the search. Finally booked one and thought I was good to go. When I arrive at the hotel they have no idea who I am and it turns out the app booked the hotel for the same night I booked it. Then the hotel says someone checked in and used the reservation. I called Hotwire and they said since it’s a “HotRate” deal there are absolutely no refunds or changes, which apparently includes their system screwing up. So now I payed for someone else’s hotel room last week and had to get a last minute room at full price when I arrived totaling over $700 for what ended up being a 7 hour stay in the hotel. I will never use anything with the Hotwire name again

Last year I used Hotwire and I got booked at a Hotel that I was previously booked at through Hotwire in another year and which I felt very unsafe. When I called to see if I could switch hotels and explained to them that the previous year I had an incident happened to me where I was assaulted at that hotel, they refused to change me into another hotel and told me that all bookings were final. It took me two hours to finally get them to at least change my Hotel as they would not give me a refund. I gave them another chance and I am really angry that I did. This year, I wanted to book a hotel and after entering in a different credit card information for whatever reason it booked a different listed hotel that I did not want to stay at. When I called to rectify The situation they would not do anything about it. I never write reviews and I really hope that no one ever uses this service ever they’re awful.

I can’t voice my disappointment enough in this hotel. I came to Chicago to shop and go to a play. I input ‘downtown’ when making the reservation and even called the hotel, when I saw it was an option, to ask if it was walking distance to the main shopping areas. I was there three nights and paid more for urber rides than the hotel! I would have done so much more in Chicago if it wasn’t an additional $20+ to get to the city. Hotel itself was okay. Tiny and old. Plus when you get there an additional $20 per night, in the small print when you book, for extra amenities that you will never use. Spa down the road, discount at the bar(that was never open late enough to use). Live and learn. Unless you are planning on staying in the Gold Coast area book someplace else. The extra for the room is worth it. Ended up costing me over $100+ more than planned.

Multiple time problems with Hotwire. Their customer service is basically to tell you there’s nothing they can do. I’ve paid for hotels that were fully inhabited aka no vacancy and got no refund and had to pay again. I’ve booked a room and they put me in an unfinished room like a closet - no refund or discount. I’ve been kicked out of a hotel bc it was for out of state travelers and I live in the state I guess too local for them - no compensation and today I didn’t fully send a payment with apple pay and it didnt authorize my card. Then I went back on the browser and got a new room, and Hotwire charged me twice for the same date. Again I called and nothing. Just sorry no refund. Why would I book two hotels on the same night? I guess I forget all these horrible times getting stiffed by Hotwire bc I continue to book thru them. I guess I deserve what I get for being stupid.

I booked a hotel and one of my main filters was a hotel with a pool. I chose the hotel but upon arrival noticed construction going on at the hotel near the pool. I then ask the receptionist and she says it will be opened the next day, FOR SURE. The next day, the new girl now working the front desk, says the pool will be opened after 5. Again I let it go because our reservations were for a few days and we would have time to hang out by the pool once it opened. I return to the hotel later that same day with my two children and husband to see posted signs saying the pool will not be opened til renovations are completed. I was very disappointed with Hotwire for not letting me know this hotels pool would be out of service and then the hotel, Comfort suites Odessa, for giving me the run around. Very inconvenient and upsetting. I work hard for my money and want what I pay for.
Hotwire bait and switch app is misleading

Hotwire uses bait and switch when you book with them. They said I was guaranteed to receive my car rental from Enterprise Alamo National Hertz Dollar Budget. When I went to book car rental they gave me Advantage. I called them to mention that advantage was not advertise in my five guaranteed car rentals companies. They did a bait and switch on me and they refused to switch me to one of the other car rental companies. In which they advised I was guaranteed in their online listing. I reviewed advantage and their customer reviews had so many negative complaints with this car rental company. I didn’t feel safe using them for my family trip. Hotwire refuses to issue me a refund or switch me the the rental company that they guaranteed to me. I will never use Hotwire ever again. Poor customer service and not a trusting company. Their bait and switch was very this honest. Buyers beware

Hotel housekeeping was not consistent in cleaning the room and many days by 5 pm had to call down before the came to clean. Days that didn’t clean dishes leave coffee pods left sand in the shower etc. secondly we lost power 3 times and twice in one day and was unable to work and one night had to move to a different room. The second time we waited over one hour for the main fence guy from another property of there’s to come an couldn’t even find the power box we had to go switch it back on. After the third time this happened we asked them to in some way for spoiled food in fridge plus all the other inconveniences plus one day not be able to work and losing work I asked for some sort of compensation and for 45 minutes attempted to reach something and hotel refuse to do anything for all the issues that we clearly there responsibility

Warning false advertising - just as another reviewer experienced I was also charged for a room but then receive an error. Which means the room and that deal “got away” which is bs. I called and they stated the price went up reason why it did not book but yet charged my card. So I asked can you they use that credit to pay the difference to book another room they said no. So I let it be and waited til the next today to see if my credit card got refunded back. Nothing yet..... so I saw the same deal again (my mistake) and I tried to book it and the same error I received. I got charged again, so now I have two charges pending. I understand that it’s not fully charged just a hold but on my end it shows that it’s charged, now I have to wait 3-5 days. So now I can’t book anything for my birthday weekend. So be aware DONT USE HOTWIRE - PURE FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!

Please be aware that Hotwire uses second rate chains for the hot rate . Yes the price is low but you get what you pay for! In this case aggravation . Do not book with easi rent, ace, sixt or the like!!!! They keep you in a building for over an hour with a fan in 80 degree weather! Then they haggle you for up charges ! First they will tell you a scare tactic to buy additional coverage for 11 dollars a day! If you do not have a PAPER copy of your personal full auto coverage they will not accept that you have adequate insurance and tell you they will not rent you a car! Second they badger you to buy a sun pass for tolls and gas from them. Please keep toll receipts in case u get a bill from them. To save a few bucks it not worth it. Go to a name brand car company !!

I had enjoyed using hotwire in the past. However, my last experience has made me change my view on hotwire service. I got a rental car through hotwire. On the day of my travel, the rental car company had no cars available. I was told that the wait could be 2-3 hours as 6 parties ahead of me were waiting for cars. I cant sit around at airport for 2-3 hours. So I got another rental car from a different company. I contacted Hotwire right after I left the airport. I was told that they will take care of it. After I came back from my business trip, I contacted them again regarding the credit, I was told that they are working on it. 2 weeks later, no one called me or followed up on this. No credit was issued. Now I have to dispute through my credit card company. Very disappointed with their service.

I booked a hotel on Hotwire. I arrived at about 10pm only to find out that the hotel was over booked. The hotel said they would tell the third party (Hotwire) that they would approve a refund for the night and comp me a night stay at a nearby motel. Once I spoke to Hotwire, they said that they would apply a credit in my Hotwire account in addition and this credit would be good for a year. Luckily I called Hotwire back to confirm the credits. The new guy customer service rep informed me that the credit in my Hotwire account was what I was getting. After a conversation explaining that I didn’t understand it that way I asked to just credit my card. Let’s think about this, if I don’t use that credit within the years time I just lose the money! That sounds like a scam and will be in touch with the better business burea.

Long time user of Hotwire for years...to the tune of tens of thousands of $$...no joke. Business, pleasure, family trips, you name it. Have touted this company and its simplicity with friends and family forever as I believed in its value. No more. Just spent 59 min on hold with them and was hung up on...after following email instructions. Unfortunately, this is a recurring theme. I had to contact them back in 2013 re: plane changes and it took 2 days to talk to someone. It was eventually fixed but we still laugh at the amount of time (hours) it took. Absolutely NOT worth the hassle. Fool me once... Word to the wise...90% of the time, you save money. The remaining 10% of the time when you have unexpected changes/life pop up...this is NOT the company to deal with. Will not use again

Hotwire will never help you when a situation arises that’s out of your control or when they are at fault. For example, I reserved a hotel that Hotwire stated they had an airport shuttle. I called for the shuttle but the hotel said they don’t service the airport I was at. I called Hotwire and they would not transfer the to another hotel near the airport I was at even though the hotel accessed the cancellation/change. Another time, I got a hotel that was to be a 2.5 star rating. I showed up and this hotel had massage parlors, and other sketchy businesses in the rooms of the hotel. I took pictures and sent them to Hotwire. They would not cancel or change the reservation even though this star rating was not accurate. Hotwire customer service is by far the worst experience I’ve ever encountered.

I paid for a hotel that I didn’t even use and I was told I can’t change it because I made the human error of not fixing it when I booked it the night before the day I was going to actually stay. They said they can’t help me because it’s a hotel policy and hotel tells me they can’t change it because it’s a Hotwire policy. I was told by aloft I can change the date and Hotwire told me no at all. They didn’t wanna help me out but just say sorry we took your money have a nice day.....after spending a lot of money with Hotwire already it’s disappointing. I loved Hotwire but now will only use trip advisor or kayak. Trip advisor gave me a first time discount for the inconvenience of Hotwire. Definitely recommended trip advisor

I booked a night at unnamed 2 star hotel in Anaheim one night. When I arrived, there were 2 squad cars in the parking lot interrogating someone. There were several ladies of questionable circumstance hanging out in the doorways of their rooms. I then looked up reviews of this motel online and found out this place was notorious for drug use, prostitution, etc. Before checking in, I called Hotwire to let them know of the situation. They were not willing to make any adjustments. I wasn’t expecting the Ritz but this place was beyond safe. This was especially sad since it was blocks away from Disneyland. What if a family had booked there? There was no way I was going to stay there and called it a loss. Hotwire was not willing to make any amends. I never used their app again.

I highly recommend hotwire !! I'm in Denver, CO now. I traveled from Chicago 14 hours, I had reservations at the hotel. I arrived at 11:30 PM, at the hotel and they told me that there was some issue in the room and there are no available room for me. I called the hotwire at 11:40 PM. customer service found a room for me in the same area and they paid 180 USD for 4 stars hotel. I received a confirmation email and the address of the new hotel. I paid only $ 90 and hotwire paid $ 180 and found me a room at 11:40 PM in 4 star hotel. I am very pleased, I recommend Hotwire.

STAY AWAY! Any “deals” come with extremely bad and unprofessional service. My family and I were planning a trip to Florida and we rented our car through Hotwire. (Big mistake) A few weeks before our travel the COVID-19 pandemic was widespread, and residents of New York (my home state) we’re not allowed to travel to Florida. I filled out the form on Hotwire to help me with a “cancellation process”. After multiple phone calls to both the rental agency and Hotwire for weeks, I got nowhere. Hotwire refuses to help me with this situation and still has my money. Hotwire has an unethical approach to my cancellation, I was not getting “cold feet” rather a major global event was legally restricting my travel. They don’t seem to understand this is a pandemic. I would have been happy with an account credit, but now I am forced to dispute the charges with Visa. Unbelievably cruel and unprofessional. STAY AWAY!

I have booked with Hotwire several times in the past, and the total cost to book a car has always been clear in the marketing. I booked a car for a recent trip to visit family, and the price was marketed for approximately 32 per day TOTAL. Buried in the fine print (which was not clear and easy to understand and buried at the bottom of a very long email) was a reference to taxes and fees. This added another 148 to my bill and brought the cost of the car to nearly 60 per day. Absolutely unacceptable and incredibly misleading. I am disputing the charges with my bank and filing a complaint with better business bureau. What a terrible business practice. My rental was through dollar. Terrible!

I booked hotel on 20th October at 1am in morning when I was done with work in Nj . When I came to hotel around 3am hotel receptionist told me reservation is for 20th October but starts at 3pm🤔. So I lost night sleeping in car a I am tired at work because Of Hotwire . When you call hotel and ask to go in today it means now , not in 13 hours , this application is not serious tool for booking hotel , if you need some serious booking without mastaike you should call hotel and book it . Never again this stupid unusable aplication

If there is a problem with the hotel Hotwire will only offer $25. No full refund even if they do something horrible. In my most recent case I saved $9 over booking the Comfort Inn Downtown in Chattanooga only to have the staff ignore our do not disturb sign and wake us early. Normally I would get a refund from Comfort Inn. 1 hour on the phone and texting with Hotwire and the best they can do is $25. This applies to thefts from your room and other losses also. Not acceptable!

I booked a hotel due to a delayed flight after at 12:30 am 28th of January. The flight was delayed until 6:10 am the airline would not cover hotel expenses but I still need to sleep to be able to function on a Monday to go to work. Booked The Hard Rock Seminole, where I was told is sold out and that they can’t check me in at 1:00 am and she mentioned various times that she couldn’t do much because I booked through a 3rd party meaning HOTWIRE. So there’s no real benefit to booked through Hotwire because you are not treated like a client they want to help. I needed to sleep the few hours left to pay an Uber AGAIN to catch a flight that was delayed so instead I’m here writing my first EVER bad review to a company, I have been working 3 weeks in a row and I pay for a room that is not available and I’m Just wondering around the Hard Rock Seminole, I was told if I get a players card that I might get a chance of getting a room, so if that was even possible what wasn’t there a room for me from 1:00 am until 4:30 am that I have to head back to the airport o make it to the flight in time.

I travel on business a lot and use Hotwire often especially on short notice. This app has worked for me 99% of the time. And if I ever ran into a problem with any stay a quick call to them and it was taken care of immediately no questions asked. I personally can't say a bad thing about this company. Using this app requires the ability to read between the lines and knowing the areas to hit on a great hotel. In other words if you have half a brain it's a great way to go.

I have been using Hotwire 10 years and counting and it hasn’t let me down! I have always gotten great deals when traveling around Texas and even got a GREAT deal through Hotwire visiting my hometown of Chicago! Recently I also found out they have great customer service when the hotel I was staying in had an incident occur and the Hotwire customer service department took care of it to my utmost satisfaction! I have no doubt I will continue to use Hotwire services for my future travels.

Booked a hot rate rental car and upon arrival the rental car company refused to honor the confirmed reservation. After calling Hotwire they kept me on hold for 30 minutes while they spoke with the car rental company. Hotwire’s response was that the company would not adjust, but Hotwire would make a special concession this time and refund my money. The agent acted like I should feel privileged that I would get a refund. No offer or willingness to find me an alternative rental with any of the handful of companies available at the airport where I was at. Needless to say I used a competitors website and was able to book a similar deal in 5 minutes and walk out with a car. Pathetic customer service and they will not see my business again.

Hotwire used to be the best app for renting cars. No other app/service provided a better service than them, but some weeks/months ago the search is not working for car rentals in the same day or the next day. When you try to search for any car it always says there is no cars available. I am talking about NYC area, so there is no way there are no cars available. Even if I go directly to the website of the rental companies they always have cars. So it seems that you need to book the car 2 days in advance now. That is really inconvenient. I hope someone is able to take a look if this is a bug. Thank you.

I use this app a lot and although I appreciate the good deals. It seems like some of the hotels are rated with a higher star value than the actual hotel could be rated for. I have purchased some of their hot deals for a three star hotel that turned out to be barely better than a Motel 6. I Purchased a hot deal for a four-star hotel with 80% reviews to find out it’s on Sepulveda Boulevard and a best Western motel. I don’t know who is grading the stars, but in my book, there is no such thing as a four-star hotel on Sepulveda Boulevard. And of course, when you purchased the hotel, you do not know what hotel or where it is. And once you find out and see the room, there is no refund or cancellation or reducing your stay.

First time I ran into problems with Hotwire was when I booked a rental with them, They rental car company they sent me to had no rentals at the time. I called and talked to a customer service specialist and I was then charged again for another rental that when I got there the company had no rentals available either. The second time I’ve had problems with Hotwire was today I booked a room with them and upon arrival the hotel was a disaster area. Furniture was broken and cushion was coming out. Not to mention the hotel I booked was not the one I was sent to. I would advice everyone to refrain from using this company as they are not customer friendly nor do they value there customers!!

I would give no stars. However that is not an option. The hot rate advertised was $4 cheaper than the regular rate. Ok great deal. After I booked it and checked it with the regular rate, I found that I paid more than if I would’ve booked it at regular price. Customer service is absolutely no help. Spoke to regular agent R.D. and Jen a supervisor. Both were with the run around b.s. And said and I quote “the system changes the prices and they have no control over the booking costing more with the hot rate than a regular rate “ . I am still confused. Do yourself a favor and don’t believe the hot rate b.s. It’s a joke. 42 minutes wasted out of my life dealing with them and still no help what so ever. The low price guarantee is a joke.

Be careful with the search system of this application! runs the risk of sending you far away from where you are. I was at a loss as I needed a hotel right next to the airport. I chose the location "fco airport" and they sent me to a hotel 15km from the airport in the "lido di ostia" region. if I put as the main filter the distance from the airport means that I need it to be as close as possible, since I had to have a few hours. as it was late it had no transport and had to sleep at the airport. total nonsense! and I still have to pay for the system error. as I was not compensated for the error, I will make this critic on the internet about this absurd error and the treatment policy of the clients of this "company"

I have used Hotwire 7 times in the past getting the property I wanted 2 times out of 7. To my surprise there is now a feature that gives you a sneak peak of the hotel you will get. I use the app with Trip Advisor to look at the hotels that are up for grabs. Thanks to the sneak peek of the room I snagged a great 4.5 * hotel in NYC at an excellent price. I’ve used Hotwire several years and have rarely been disappointed. Most of my usage is booking some weekend hotels. We have been very frustrated that recently Hotwire combined the downtown area and the 7th Street District in Fort Worth. I’ve mostly stopped using Hotwire when we desire to go to downtown Fort Worth on the weekends because we risk not being near the areas we prefer. We like both of those areas, but it is too spread out to enjoy if the hotel is in the 7th St. District, but our entertainment that weekend is downtown.

I have used Hotwire for over 10 years and have never had a problem. Today will be the last time. I tried to call them to cancel my car rental since I am unable to travel due to the Coronavirus. What a scam. They will not refund due it due to it being a Hot rate. I understand the cancellation policy but this is due to an International Disaster. I contacted the rental car company & they said it’s Hotwire’s policy not theirs. They do not receive the money until I pick up the rental. Really Hotwire you won’t amend your policy due to unforeseen circumstances which is out of my control. Shame on you. I hope its worth losing a loyal customer. Your taking peoples money without providing a service.

I am sick and tired of this company's unaccountable customer service. The company posts information on its site and app about hotel amenities and services that are not true, and then barley steps up to correct their mistake. What's worse, even after you report the mistake, they don't change the inaccurate information posted. Another reviewer called the company "fraudulent," they weren't far off from the truth. Wasn't the first time I had to call my credit card company to contest their charges and probably won't be the last time.

I booked a hotel stay with Hotwire and upon arrival the hotel would not honor the Reservation due to Covid-19 restrictions. When I contacted Hotwire for a refund they stated that the issue was between the hotel and myself. The hotel stated that it was not paid by Hotwire had had cancelled the reservation so they would not recover the money. Contacted Hotwire again and was informed that the policy is “no refunds under no circumstances” and that I agreed to the policy when I made the reservation. I’ve seen others describe this company as fraudulent and now I would have to agree. It’s only $120 but it’s the principle of doing the right thing for the customer. Incidentally I had to sleep in my car that night to add insult to injury!

I’ve been using Hotwire for years - I’ve learned to book early to get the best deals and have stayed at hotels I otherwise wouldn’t afford. I have referred so many people to “my secret” to how I get my unbelievable deals and my wife brags about my ability to find 4 star hotels for 2 star prices. I now use it for my business travel and refuse to use our companies travel site because I save our company so much money. Thanks Hotwire!

During the Christmas I was in Dubai, I straggle couple of times with Hotwire booking. One time I had been charged additional 150$ when I arrived to the hotel, the hotel managers informed me that there is 150$ fee for each person, that fees related to ongoing event for the Christmas Eve inside the hotel, even when I was not interested I had been forced to pay it or will not be checked in (well known hotel). Other time I have been given the wrong hotel which is inside the airport and I had to contact the customer service to resolve this matter, it took me 2 hours to solve it. I have been a member for 10 but I am very disappointed and will never use Hotwire.

I’ve been using Hotwire for a while now but never the app and ever since I started using the app I’ve had a problem every time. I wanted to book one night not 2 nights the system sometimes freezes on you and Press is more than one night so people please be aware it’s better to call or online but NOT the app. To be completely honest I hate hate the app it just booked 2 night instead of one in the people at customer service can I help you because at the end of the day that was your mistake for not paying attention to the app. Because apparently it is your responsibility to make sure the app works properly on your phone.

Due to a glitch in their app While I was trying to book I got no confirmation that my trip was booked. So I proceeded to try again. Second time my confirmation came through. I was charged for both bookings. When I called to find out why they said I was booked at 2 separate hotels and that I could not be refunded because the hotel was already paid. But the first time I called they said that I had to call my bank and see why I was charged twice. That until the charges were processed they couldn’t do anything. Hey, if $104 is worth losing my business over than fine! Keep the money. I will be using Orbitz in the future.

Booked a car rental. My flight was late because all flights into LAX were diverted for a torrential storm. At 7:30 pm the car rental counter was closed. Stranded without a car & Hotwire says it’s my fault. I should have phoned them (from inside the plane). Now I’m on an interminable hold. No feedback on the line of any kind to assure that “someone will be with you shortly.” Hotwire is a HOT MESS. Somehow Hotwire has managed to hire a support team that come on the line already hostile.

The Hotwire app glitched and the payment went through my bank but not Hotwire all I needed was them to send a email to my bank saying they never received payment. And they kept transferring me to people for a hour before saying they couldn’t just send a email. I recommend any other travel agency.

If you have a Hotwire credit you cannot use it through the app. The app rates for example for hot rate are 5-15% less than the website. So not only can you not get the best rate, the only way they price match is if a competitor is cheaper which is almost never the case. So if I’d have a credit, your actually losing money. They will not honor the change. They should support Hotwire credit on the app. And their chat response team never responds.

Please be aware that Hotwire uses second rate chains for the hot rate . Yes the price is low but you get what you pay for! In this case aggravation . Do not book with easi rent, ace, sixt or the like!!!! They keep you in a building for over an hour with a fan in 80 degree weather! Then they haggle you for up charges ! First they will tell you a scare tactic to buy additional coverage for 11 dollars a day! If you do not have a PAPER copy of your personal full auto coverage they will not accept that you have adequate insurance and tell you they will not rent you a car! Second they badger you to buy a sun pass for tolls and gas from them. Please keep toll receipts in case u get a bill from them. To save a few bucks it not worth it. Go to a name brand car company !!

I recently booked a hotel in Montgomery Alabama. When I showed up to check in no one was at the night window. I rang bell and called hotel phone. I immediately informed Hotwire and they tried calling hotel. No answer. I slept in my car in the hotel parking lot. After 3 months of back and forth with Hotwire they informed me the hotel told them that it’s my fault and Hotwire is not refunding my money.

The website clearly said that the hotel was refundable if it had a specific hotwire itinerary number. When I tried to cancel they refused to do so even though I have a copy of the website ~and my itinerary clearly showing that they were deceitful~ be careful if you book here because you will not get a refund even if you try to cancel five minutes after you made the reservation

Hotwire is by far the worse booking site I could have possibly used. There customer service agents are not helpful, I requested to be escalated to a supervisor and then they ignored my request. My issues were bit resolved and I was unable to receive a refund that even the rental company who I used said they were happy to issue. On my family’s vacation to Florida my wallet was left on the plane. I had my id but sadly my license and such were in the wallet. Upon getting to the car rental place they would not allow me to retrieve the car without the license but they would refund it. Hot wires policy said I needed an id and since I didn’t have it there was nothing they could do to help me. So now I have no car and won’t be refunded. The customer service rep then went on to say I won’t transfer you to a manager because they will just tell me the same and stopped responding. If the company the rental was from would honor a refund I don’t see why Hotwire shouldn’t. Furthermore this would have been easier to accept if the person I spoke with wasn’t so rude and condescending. This was not an ordinary circumstance and if this is their policy I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I plan on making complaints on the site until someone gives me a more accurate response. And for the record the booking policy says id not drivers license if this wants to become a technicality thing. BBB will hear this.

I booked a trip using Hotwire for my rental car. The place we were going had a spike in COVID-19 cases and we were forced to cancel our trip. The airline and the Airbnb granted us a return. Hotwire just said, no return, that is our policy. I have been under the understanding the COVID-19 related travel bans prohibited companies to refuse refunds for those restrictions. I then told them, while being completely kind and not upset, that I will never do business with them again and tell all of my social media followers to do the same. They said, that is your choice, this is our policy. It isn’t even the money, they were just rude and unkind and uncaring. The companies that are going to come out of COVID-19 world doing well need caring and empathy. I have used this service for years and would have continued to do so. But now for $400 they have generated a lifelong enemy that will shout from the rooftops to never use Hotwire for travel!

Wow where to start, first I booked a Hot wire deal for a hotel in Shamrock, Tx. I showed up at the hotel by the address found in my confirmation however they could not find my reservation. Come to find out somehow they have this account mixed up with another hotel in Dallas, TX. When I called Hotwire, I was hung up on 3 times due to them “not getting ahold of the hotel to verify reservation” I advised them the phone # they have associated with this hotel is not correct. I provided the correct phone number to them by a simple google search and 1 rep hung up on me when she told me she called them and no one answered. I placed her on hold and called the hotel and they answered immediately. When I told her this she hung up on me. The 2nd time I spoke with a rep she told me the number that I provided to her for the hotel was a cell #. I advised her it isn’t and did a 3 way call with the hotel. They confirmed they did not have a reservation for me and that I am not the first person who this has happened to with them through hotwire. The rep hung up on us during our conversation! The 3rd rep, I don’t even know what happened, I thought she was actually gonna do something but she hung up when I was on hold and it went to some voicemail message. I have NEVER had problems with hotwire before, I use them frequently however I will NEVER use them again after this! I have spent at least 2 hours on the phone with them and I still have not gotten a refund!!!!

If you want to reserve a specific car you want and be greeted by a downgrade, then Hotwire is for you! Been on hold with them for almost an hour now even after multiple support agents said the situation would be rectified if I provided them the info from the agency paperwork that documents the downgrade. They also spoke with the manager at National (terrible rental car service, first of all), and still nothing was done. Still waiting on their “customer support”...

Easily the worst booking site and customer service! This is a very dishonest company that never delivers on there promises. I cancelled a reservation on July 21, 2020 and was told a refund was being processed. 2 weeks later I was to it had to go through a manual refund process. For the next couple of months I was told it was still processing. It’s now September 26, 2020 and I’m told not to worry it’s still coming. What a scam! Don’t ever use Hotwire regardless of the rates.

I paid for a hotel that I didn’t even use and I was told I can’t change it because I made the human error of not fixing it when I booked it the night before the day I was going to actually stay. They said they can’t help me because it’s a hotel policy and hotel tells me they can’t change it because it’s a Hotwire policy. I was told by aloft I can change the date and Hotwire told me no at all. They didn’t wanna help me out but just say sorry we took your money have a nice day.....after spending a lot of money with Hotwire already it’s disappointing. I loved Hotwire but now will only use trip advisor or kayak. Trip advisor gave me a first time discount for the inconvenience of Hotwire. Definitely recommended trip advisor

I originally loved Hotwire. It’s what I’ve used for years to book hotels and rental cars. HOWEVER, their policies are complete garbage if you get stuck in a bind. Especially during Covid-19 and all the special restrictions for each state. I live in New York and our governor doesn’t care about the 2 week quarantine mandate that was lifted by the CDC. So me thinking it was now ok to travel (without having that mandatory quarantine) I booked a trip to Utah with almost 600 dollars worth of hotel nights and car rental days. Once I found out that I couldn’t travel there because of our jobs not wanting us to have to quarantine for two weeks, I immediately got ahold of Hotwire assuming they would respond as a good company like Delta would and show compassion on the matter and refund me for the misunderstanding. Long story short, I talked to four different people with one of them being a supervisor and they all said the same thing. Their policy is this and they will not stray from it no matter what. They wouldn’t even give me credit through Hotwire for the 600 dollars I just lost because of something out of my control. DO NOT USE HOTWIRE. THEY WILL ROB YOU THE FIRST CHANCE THEY GET. There is no compassion, there is no forgiveness. This company is scum and it needs to have light shed on it.

Their customer support is horrific to say the least. A booking was made on accident, and I had confirmation from the hotel and a representative from the company stating I will be issued a refund for the mistake. Long story short, they decided to not follow through and keep my money despite me having a conversation saved between me and a representative where the rep states, “it seems that the hotel authorized a refund for this reservation”. Terrible, terrible customer experience. You guys just lost a really good customer, I’ll be mentioning this to everyone I know.

I tried to rent a car for a trip to DFW from SNA in OC California so used Hotwire to setup the rental car and boy what a big mistake that was. First they setup a rental at a downtown Dallas Hertz then they refused to change it to the DFW Hertz and said you have to speak to Herty who told me I have to speak to Hotwire so after about 4hrs of this we finally got an Uber to the hotel and when I asked for a refund for the most expensive SUV with insurance they refused to refund the $160.

I have been given the worst service I have ever received from Hotwire. Every booking of 2020 has been problematic and never solved correctly nor do they try to make up for their mistakes. I will never in my life use this app again. I’ve been booking with this company for over 6 years but that will certainly end Today! Had reserved a hotel during the Covid pandemic. Before leaving for said trip I was informed by the business who was to keep my pet overnight that they were closing down due to an employee contracting the virus. Requested a cancellation on the app and it was marked as “cancellation requested”. After nothing for a few weeks I finally called in and was told I should have called to make the cancellation and there was nothing they could do. What’s the point of being able to cancel a hotel through the app if I have to also call in. There was zero correspondence from them even though they have all my contact information. Use hotels.com they have fantastic customer service and better deals. This app has been sent to the delete pile. USE A DIFFERENT BOOKING APP AT ALL COSTS.

I am sick and tired of this company's unaccountable customer service. The company posts information on its site and app about hotel amenities and services that are not true, and then barley steps up to correct their mistake. What's worse, even after you report the mistake, they don't change the inaccurate information posted. Another reviewer called the company "fraudulent," they weren't far off from the truth. Wasn't the first time I had to call my credit card company to contest their charges and probably won't be the last time.

This is the worst hotel booking site I have ever dealt with. They sent a massive email out to cancel bookings at hotels due to the coronavirus and they would be issuing refund because of such. I have been fighting with them since March. In which they continue to tell me the same story “Our back office team needs time to research the inquiry please allow 3-5 days and we will send you an Email” I have been told this at least 5 times since I started this crap in March. 🤬 They OWE ME 300.00!!! 😡

I’ve used Hotwire twice now, both to book hotels in Charlotte, NC. First one was a 4-Star Hotel in Uptown Charlotte for about $111/night which was about $140 cheaper than any other hotel in the city. Next time I used it we got a 4-Star Hotel in the heart of the city for about $104/night - even better than the first time! Although you may not know exactly where you’re staying at the time of booking, it may be worth while if you are planning on being in a big city or somewhere loaded with hotels because this website will give you the best rate because of that no show until book policy. Just read the details like free WiFi, parking, choose your bed or hotel chooses for you, etc. before booking and you shouldn’t have a problem!!

Wow where to start, first I booked a Hot wire deal for a hotel in Shamrock, Tx. I showed up at the hotel by the address found in my confirmation however they could not find my reservation. Come to find out somehow they have this account mixed up with another hotel in Dallas, TX. When I called Hotwire, I was hung up on 3 times due to them “not getting ahold of the hotel to verify reservation” I advised them the phone # they have associated with this hotel is not correct. Hotwire is by far the worse booking site I could have possibly used. There customer service agents are not helpful, I requested to be escalated to a supervisor and then they ignored my request. My issues were bit resolved and I was unable to receive a refund that even the rental company who I used said they were happy to issue. On my family’s vacation to Florida my wallet was left on the plane. I had my id but sadly my license and such were in the wallet. Upon getting to the car rental place they would not allow me to retrieve the car without the license but they would refund it. Hot wires policy said I needed an id and since I didn’t have it there was nothing they could do to help me. So now I have no car and won’t be refunded. The customer service rep then went on to say I won’t transfer you to a manager because they will just tell me the same and stopped responding. If the company the rental was from would honor a refund I don’t see why Hotwire shouldn’t. Furthermore this would have been easier to accept if the person I spoke with wasn’t so rude and condescending. This was not an ordinary circumstance and if this is their policy I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I plan on making complaints on the site until someone gives me a more accurate response. And for the record the booking policy says id not drivers license if this wants to become a technicality thing. BBB will hear this.

Booked a hot deal and my card was charged. I was then brought to a screen that said an error occurred and that deal was no longer available. So I had a full trip charged to my card and Hotwire customer care refused to do anything except lay the blame on my credit card company and me. Took 4 days for the credit to be available on my card again. Their customer care department is a third party company out of Malaysia that refuses to give you information on how to contact Hotwire corporate offices after they ultimately refuse to help you. Stay away from Hotwire. They’ll cause your money to be caught in limbo while you watch hotel prices get higher by the day waiting for it to be freed back to available credit. I booked my room directly through Hampton Inn, the hotel Hotwire suggested I’d get with the hot deal and they were more sympathetic to my problem than Hotwire was and provided the same rate. Do yourself a favor and book directly through the hotel. Many times they’ll honor prices found on apps like Hotwire. Avoid Hotwire, Expedia and Priceline. They’re all the same company who doesn’t care about you. Just a middleman trying to carve a slice of something they don’t deserve.

Worst app ever. For most hotels it only shows 1 picture, even when there are dozens on the Hotwire Website. I tried to book a trip on the app anyway, but it kept saying my credit card wasn’t recognized. So I called my credit card company and they said They authorized the transaction, but Hotwire canceled it. So I called Hotwire and they said it’s because I was trying to book a deal that wasn’t available. After hearing this, I looked again, and the deal still showed up on the app. I also had $15 of “HotDollars” credit, which an email said I could use to book, but couldn’t use it on the app. This app is so much worse than the website. As an aside, the Hotdeals, you know, the deal where it’s cheaper because you don’t know which hotel it is? Yeah, that’s terrible because they tack on higher fees. I booked a Hotdeal that was $10 per day cheaper than if I knew which hotel I was booking. Great deal! Except after I checked out, the Hotdeal wound up being about a dollar per day more than the normal booking after taxes and fees were added. TLDR: Hotwire has good deals, just stay away from the app or the Hotdeals.

Hotwire car rental is such a scam!!! I booked car online on September 30th and I got HOT RATE for it. When I went to rent a car agency ( Ace ) they told me that there is mile limitation for my reservation ( 150 miles a day ) and that I should cancel reservation because if I go further that 450 miles in 3 days I will pay 25 cents per extra mile. These conditions WERE NOT in terms and conditions when I accepted reservation. I called hot wire after agent in ACE told me to call them and cancel. Hot wire did not wanted to cancel my reservation because they told me it was a blind reservation and it is not refundable?! I told them that even if it is blind reservation they SHOULD put all the conditions when you book it, otherwise I got stuck with the car I cannot use. They said they will put those information in the future 😡 I told them I don't care about the future, I want my money back now because it's crazy to scam people like that and do not put all the conditions when you book a car. I ended up being charged for a car I did not use. PEOPLE SAVE YOUR MONEY, do not use HOTWIRE! Their customer service is rude and their supervisors not doing their job.

Our company is removing Hotwire as an option for future travel needs. Due to human error (or perhaps a manipulation by the app) the incorrect date was selected on a reservation. I did make the mistake of confirming that purchase without rechecking the date. Once the error was determined we contacted Hotwire 24+ hours before reservation and they would not cancel and credit. After reaching a supervisor on phone I brought up the fact confirmation email does specify it is prepaid and can’t be cancelled. She wanted to resend confirmation email so I would have the right polices. She sent the email and well it was the exact same. So now I question if I made a human error in date selection or if app moved date. See the hotel was actually sold out for the dates I believe selected and the Hotwire reservation was a night following when the hotel had availability. In any case, Hotwire was unwilling to offer a credit or refund and chooses to loose out on future business. Poorly run and a shame human error is being taken advantage of. Fool me once but not twice!!!

I used Hotwire to book my car rental for a trip 2 months from now. I had to make a change to the dates so went to the hotwire site, no change button to be found. Called customer service and asked to simply change my itinerary dates and was told not possible and reservation non-refundable. Just like that, a click of the button and they are stealing $300 from me. Whatever contracts they have in place with car rental companies, a customer should be able to make a date change, especially for a trip 2 months down the road. We are not talking about airline seats last minute at risk of going unfilled. This is a silly car rental reservation. At minimum Hotwire, you need a flashing pop-up warning with flames at checkout that says something like, “BEWARE Hotwire sucker, if you dare try to make a date change after you click this, just know it won’t happen because we’ve already charged your credit card and pocketed your money!” Next step, contact my state attorney general and file a complaint.

This app is really well designed. We were able to score a great deal on a hotel in downtown Chicago for a family staycation. Thanks to the advanced filters, we could narrow down to a specific neighborhood and find a hotel with a pool. The kids had a blast and we were able to use some of our savings to splurge on a nice meal at the hotel restaurant. I will definitely continue to use Hotwire and will certainly recommend this app to my friends and family. Thank you Hotwire!

PLEASE DON’T USE THIS APP! Just go ahead and stick to booking or Airbnb! I had a reservation for Travelodge in Orlando. When I got to the hotel after a long trip, I was informed the system in the hotel wasn’t working and they could not check me in neither cancel my reservation and refund me so I could go to a different hotel. They left me waiting at the lobby for 2 hours until they could finally get me a room at another hotel. you would think problem solved, right? Wrong! The new hotel was not only more expensive than the one I had already booked, but it was also not as nice. I had booked a room with a king bed and they could only offer me a room with two twin beds. It was a downgrade. In addition, they wouldn’t refund me for relocation costs (such as Uber to the new hotel) nor pay for the difference in price. I wasn’t offered any kind of compensation either! Very poor customer service! I’m very disappointed with the Hotwire app and will never use it again.

I'm a long time user of Hotwire and thought to have learned the ins and outs of the app through experience but when I booked a rentacar with Ace @ LAX I was greatly disappointed to discover not only is Hotwire deceptive but also dishonest. They are swindlers! A few days before pickup they issue a notice on where to pick up your car. It stated there’s a shuttle from the airport to Ace but sure enough I soon discovered there is no shuttle bus to Ace whatsoever! In fact, ACE's scam is to use other car rental shuttles (thrifty is closest). I was walking around the airport jet lagged after a 10 hour flight like a zombie with my family in tow trying to get to my car. It’s absurd! I attempted to get a taxi but they told me $30 min for a 5 min. ride. Finally I figured out how to get there by thrifty's shuttle. What’s more, I wrote a long letter to Hotwire explaining my predicament and got no response. They never reply to these reviews here because they are swindlers and liars. I pray nobody goes through rentacar hell like I did.

I was trying to book a hotel for the following week and noticed that the app kept changing my dates to the current day every time I refreshed the search. Finally booked one and thought I was good to go. When I arrive at the hotel they have no idea who I am and it turns out the app booked the hotel for the same night I booked it. Then the hotel says someone checked in and used the reservation. I called Hotwire and they said since it’s a “HotRate” deal there are absolutely no refunds or changes, which apparently includes their system screwing up. So now I payed for someone else’s hotel room last week and had to get a last minute room at full price when I arrived totaling over $700 for what ended up being a 7 hour stay in the hotel. I will never use anything with the Hotwire name again

Last year I used Hotwire and I got booked at a Hotel that I was previously booked at through Hotwire in another year and which I felt very unsafe. When I called to see if I could switch hotels and explained to them that the previous year I had an incident happened to me where I was assaulted at that hotel, they refused to change me into another hotel and told me that all bookings were final. It took me two hours to finally get them to at least change my Hotel as they would not give me a refund. I gave them another chance and I am really angry that I did. This year, I wanted to book a hotel and after entering in a different credit card information for whatever reason it booked a different listed hotel that I did not want to stay at. When I called to rectify The situation they would not do anything about it. I never write reviews and I really hope that no one ever uses this service ever they’re awful.

I can’t voice my disappointment enough in this hotel. I came to Chicago to shop and go to a play. I input ‘downtown’ when making the reservation and even called the hotel, when I saw it was an option, to ask if it was walking distance to the main shopping areas. I was there three nights and paid more for urber rides than the hotel! I would have done so much more in Chicago if it wasn’t an additional $20+ to get to the city. Hotel itself was okay. Tiny and old. Plus when you get there an additional $20 per night, in the small print when you book, for extra amenities that you will never use. Spa down the road, discount at the bar(that was never open late enough to use). Live and learn. Unless you are planning on staying in the Gold Coast area book someplace else. The extra for the room is worth it. Ended up costing me over $100+ more than planned.

Multiple time problems with Hotwire. Their customer service is basically to tell you there’s nothing they can do. I’ve paid for hotels that were fully inhabited aka no vacancy and got no refund and had to pay again. I’ve booked a room and they put me in an unfinished room like a closet - no refund or discount. I’ve been kicked out of a hotel bc it was for out of state travelers and I live in the state I guess too local for them - no compensation and today I didn’t fully send a payment with apple pay and it didnt authorize my card. Then I went back on the browser and got a new room, and Hotwire charged me twice for the same date. Again I called and nothing. Just sorry no refund. Why would I book two hotels on the same night? I guess I forget all these horrible times getting stiffed by Hotwire bc I continue to book thru them. I guess I deserve what I get for being stupid.

I booked a hotel and one of my main filters was a hotel with a pool. I chose the hotel but upon arrival noticed construction going on at the hotel near the pool. I then ask the receptionist and she says it will be opened the next day, FOR SURE. The next day, the new girl now working the front desk, says the pool will be opened after 5. Again I let it go because our reservations were for a few days and we would have time to hang out by the pool once it opened. I return to the hotel later that same day with my two children and husband to see posted signs saying the pool will not be opened til renovations are completed. I was very disappointed with Hotwire for not letting me know this hotels pool would be out of service and then the hotel, Comfort suites Odessa, for giving me the run around. Very inconvenient and upsetting. I work hard for my money and want what I pay for.
Hotwire bait and switch app is misleading

Hotwire uses bait and switch when you book with them. They said I was guaranteed to receive my car rental from Enterprise Alamo National Hertz Dollar Budget. When I went to book car rental they gave me Advantage. I called them to mention that advantage was not advertise in my five guaranteed car rentals companies. They did a bait and switch on me and they refused to switch me to one of the other car rental companies. In which they advised I was guaranteed in their online listing. I reviewed advantage and their customer reviews had so many negative complaints with this car rental company. I didn’t feel safe using them for my family trip. Hotwire refuses to issue me a refund or switch me the the rental company that they guaranteed to me. I will never use Hotwire ever again. Poor customer service and not a trusting company. Their bait and switch was very this honest. Buyers beware

Hotel housekeeping was not consistent in cleaning the room and many days by 5 pm had to call down before the came to clean. Days that didn’t clean dishes leave coffee pods left sand in the shower etc. secondly we lost power 3 times and twice in one day and was unable to work and one night had to move to a different room. The second time we waited over one hour for the main fence guy from another property of there’s to come an couldn’t even find the power box we had to go switch it back on. After the third time this happened we asked them to in some way for spoiled food in fridge plus all the other inconveniences plus one day not be able to work and losing work I asked for some sort of compensation and for 45 minutes attempted to reach something and hotel refuse to do anything for all the issues that we clearly there responsibility

Warning false advertising - just as another reviewer experienced I was also charged for a room but then receive an error. Which means the room and that deal “got away” which is bs. I called and they stated the price went up reason why it did not book but yet charged my card. So I asked can you they use that credit to pay the difference to book another room they said no. So I let it be and waited til the next today to see if my credit card got refunded back. Nothing yet..... so I saw the same deal again (my mistake) and I tried to book it and the same error I received. I got charged again, so now I have two charges pending. I understand that it’s not fully charged just a hold but on my end it shows that it’s charged, now I have to wait 3-5 days. So now I can’t book anything for my birthday weekend. So be aware DONT USE HOTWIRE - PURE FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!

Please be aware that Hotwire uses second rate chains for the hot rate . Yes the price is low but you get what you pay for! In this case aggravation . Do not book with easi rent, ace, sixt or the like!!!! They keep you in a building for over an hour with a fan in 80 degree weather! Then they haggle you for up charges ! First they will tell you a scare tactic to buy additional coverage for 11 dollars a day! If you do not have a PAPER copy of your personal full auto coverage they will not accept that you have adequate insurance and tell you they will not rent you a car! Second they badger you to buy a sun pass for tolls and gas from them. Please keep toll receipts in case u get a bill from them. To save a few bucks it not worth it. Go to a name brand car company !!

I had enjoyed using hotwire in the past. However, my last experience has made me change my view on hotwire service. I got a rental car through hotwire. On the day of my travel, the rental car company had no cars available. I was told that the wait could be 2-3 hours as 6 parties ahead of me were waiting for cars. I cant sit around at airport for 2-3 hours. So I got another rental car from a different company. I contacted Hotwire right after I left the airport. I was told that they will take care of it. After I came back from my business trip, I contacted them again regarding the credit, I was told that they are working on it. 2 weeks later, no one called me or followed up on this. No credit was issued. Now I have to dispute through my credit card company. Very disappointed with their service.

I booked a hotel on Hotwire. I arrived at about 10pm only to find out that the hotel was over booked. The hotel said they would tell the third party (Hotwire) that they would approve a refund for the night and comp me a night stay at a nearby motel. Once I spoke to Hotwire, they said that they would apply a credit in my Hotwire account in addition and this credit would be good for a year. Luckily I called Hotwire back to confirm the credits. The new guy customer service rep informed me that the credit in my Hotwire account was what I was getting. After a conversation explaining that I didn’t understand it that way I asked to just credit my card. Let’s think about this, if I don’t use that credit within the years time I just lose the money! That sounds like a scam and will be in touch with the better business burea.

Long time user of Hotwire for years...to the tune of tens of thousands of $$...no joke. Business, pleasure, family trips, you name it. Have touted this company and its simplicity with friends and family forever as I believed in its value. No more. Just spent 59 min on hold with them and was hung up on...after following email instructions. Unfortunately, this is a recurring theme. I had to contact them back in 2013 re: plane changes and it took 2 days to talk to someone. It was eventually fixed but we still laugh at the amount of time (hours) it took. Absolutely NOT worth the hassle. Fool me once... Word to the wise...90% of the time, you save money. The remaining 10% of the time when you have unexpected changes/life pop up...this is NOT the company to deal with. Will not use again

Hotwire will never help you when a situation arises that’s out of your control or when they are at fault. For example, I reserved a hotel that Hotwire stated they had an airport shuttle. I called for the shuttle but the hotel said they don’t service the airport I was at. I called Hotwire and they would not transfer the to another hotel near the airport I was at even though the hotel accessed the cancellation/change. Another time, I got a hotel that was to be a 2.5 star rating. I showed up and this hotel had massage parlors, and other sketchy businesses in the rooms of the hotel. I took pictures and sent them to Hotwire. They would not cancel or change the reservation even though this star rating was not accurate. Hotwire customer service is by far the worst experience I’ve ever encountered.

I paid for a hotel that I didn’t even use and I was told I can’t change it because I made the human error of not fixing it when I booked it the night before the day I was going to actually stay. They said they can’t help me because it’s a hotel policy and hotel tells me they can’t change it because it’s a Hotwire policy. I was told by aloft I can change the date and Hotwire told me no at all. They didn’t wanna help me out but just say sorry we took your money have a nice day.....after spending a lot of money with Hotwire already it’s disappointing. I loved Hotwire but now will only use trip advisor or kayak. Trip advisor gave me a first time discount for the inconvenience of Hotwire. Definitely recommended trip advisor

I booked a night at unnamed 2 star hotel in Anaheim one night. When I arrived, there were 2 squad cars in the parking lot interrogating someone. There were several ladies of questionable circumstance hanging out in the doorways of their rooms. I then looked up reviews of this motel online and found out this place was notorious for drug use, prostitution, etc. Before checking in, I called Hotwire to let them know of the situation. They were not willing to make any adjustments. I wasn’t expecting the Ritz but this place was beyond safe. This was especially sad since it was blocks away from Disneyland. What if a family had booked there? There was no way I was going to stay there and called it a loss. Hotwire was not willing to make any amends. I never used their app again.

I highly recommend hotwire !! I'm in Denver, CO now. I traveled from Chicago 14 hours, I had reservations at the hotel. I arrived at 11:30 PM, at the hotel and they told me that there was some issue in the room and there are no available room for me. I called the hotwire at 11:40 PM. customer service found a room for me in the same area and they paid 180 USD for 4 stars hotel. I received a confirmation email and the address of the new hotel. I paid only $ 90 and hotwire paid $ 180 and found me a room at 11:40 PM in 4 star hotel. I am very pleased, I recommend Hotwire.

STAY AWAY! Any “deals” come with extremely bad and unprofessional service. My family and I were planning a trip to Florida and we rented our car through Hotwire. (Big mistake) A few weeks before our travel the COVID-19 pandemic was widespread, and residents of New York (my home state) we’re not allowed to travel to Florida. I filled out the form on Hotwire to help me with a “cancellation process”. After multiple phone calls to both the rental agency and Hotwire for weeks, I got nowhere. Hotwire refuses to help me with this situation and still has my money. Hotwire has an unethical approach to my cancellation, I was not getting “cold feet” rather a major global event was legally restricting my travel. They don’t seem to understand this is a pandemic. I would have been happy with an account credit, but now I am forced to dispute the charges with Visa. Unbelievably cruel and unprofessional. STAY AWAY!

I have booked with Hotwire several times in the past, and the total cost to book a car has always been clear in the marketing. I booked a car for a recent trip to visit family, and the price was marketed for approximately 32 per day TOTAL. Buried in the fine print (which was not clear and easy to understand and buried at the bottom of a very long email) was a reference to taxes and fees. This added another 148 to my bill and brought the cost of the car to nearly 60 per day. Absolutely unacceptable and incredibly misleading. I am disputing the charges with my bank and filing a complaint with better business bureau. What a terrible business practice. My rental was through dollar. Terrible!

I booked hotel on 20th October at 1am in morning when I was done with work in Nj . When I came to hotel around 3am hotel receptionist told me reservation is for 20th October but starts at 3pm🤔. So I lost night sleeping in car a I am tired at work because Of Hotwire . When you call hotel and ask to go in today it means now , not in 13 hours , this application is not serious tool for booking hotel , if you need some serious booking without mastaike you should call hotel and book it . If there is a problem with the hotel Hotwire will only offer $25. No full refund even if they do something horrible. In my most recent case I saved $9 over booking the Comfort Inn Downtown in Chattanooga only to have the staff ignore our do not disturb sign and wake us early. Normally I would get a refund from Comfort Inn. 1 hour on the phone and texting with Hotwire and the best they can do is $25. This applies to thefts from your room and other losses also. Not acceptable!

I booked a hotel due to a delayed flight after at 12:30 am 28th of January. The flight was delayed until 6:10 am the airline would not cover hotel expenses but I still need to sleep to be able to function on a Monday to go to work. Booked The Hard Rock Seminole, where I was told is sold out and that they can’t check me in at 1:00 am and she mentioned various times that she couldn’t do much because I booked through a 3rd party meaning HOTWIRE. So there’s no real benefit to booked through Hotwire because you are not treated like a client they want to help. I needed to sleep the few hours left to pay an Uber AGAIN to catch a flight that was delayed so instead I’m here writing my first EVER bad review to a company, I have been working 3 weeks in a row and I pay for a room that is not available and I’m Just wondering around the Hard Rock Seminole, I was told if I get a players card that I might get a chance of getting a room, so if that was even possible what wasn’t there a room for me from 1:00 am until 4:30 am that I have to head back to the airport o make it to the flight in time.

I travel on business a lot and use Hotwire often especially on short notice. This app has worked for me 99% of the time. And if I ever ran into a problem with any stay a quick call to them and it was taken care of immediately no questions asked. I personally can't say a bad thing about this company. Using this app requires the ability to read between the lines and knowing the areas to hit on a great hotel. In other words if you have half a brain it's a great way to go.

I have been using Hotwire 10 years and counting and it hasn’t let me down! I have always gotten great deals when traveling around Texas and even got a GREAT deal through Hotwire visiting my hometown of Chicago! Recently I also found out they have great customer service when the hotel I was staying in had an incident occur and the Hotwire customer service department took care of it to my utmost satisfaction! I have no doubt I will continue to use Hotwire services for my future travels.

Booked a hot rate rental car and upon arrival the rental car company refused to honor the confirmed reservation. After calling Hotwire they kept me on hold for 30 minutes while they spoke with the car rental company. Hotwire’s response was that the company would not adjust, but Hotwire would make a special concession this time and refund my money. The agent acted like I should feel privileged that I would get a refund. No offer or willingness to find me an alternative rental with any of the handful of companies available at the airport where I was at. Needless to say I used a competitors website and was able to book a similar deal in 5 minutes and walk out with a car. Pathetic customer service and they will not see my business again.
Bug in Car search

Hotwire used to be the best app for renting cars. No other app/service provided a better service than them, but some weeks/months ago the search is not working for car rentals in the same day or the next day. When you try to search for any car it always says there is no cars available. I am talking about NYC area, so there is no way there are no cars available. Even if I go directly to the website of the rental companies they always have cars. So it seems that you need to book the car 2 days in advance now. That is really inconvenient. I hope someone is able to take a look if this is a bug. Thank you.

I use this app a lot and although I appreciate the good deals. It seems like some of the hotels are rated with a higher star value than the actual hotel could be rated for. I have purchased some of their hot deals for a three star hotel that turned out to be barely better than a Motel 6. I Purchased a hot deal for a four-star hotel with 80% reviews to find out it’s on Sepulveda Boulevard and a best Western motel. I don’t know who is grading the stars, but in my book, there is no such thing as a four-star hotel on Sepulveda Boulevard. And of course, when you purchased the hotel, you do not know what hotel or where it is. And once you find out and see the room, there is no refund or cancellation or reducing your stay.

First time I ran into problems with Hotwire was when I booked a rental with them, They rental car company they sent me to had no rentals at the time. I called and talked to a customer service specialist and I was then charged again for another rental that when I got there the company had no rentals available either. The second time I’ve had problems with Hotwire was today I booked a room with them and upon arrival the hotel was a disaster area. Furniture was broken and cushion was coming out. Not to mention the hotel I booked was not the one I was sent to. I would advice everyone to refrain from using this company as they are not customer friendly nor do they value there customers!!

I would give no stars. However that is not an option. The hot rate advertised was $4 cheaper than the regular rate. Ok great deal. After I booked it and checked it with the regular rate, I found that I paid more than if I would’ve booked it at regular price. Customer service is absolutely no help. Spoke to regular agent R.D. and Jen a supervisor. Both were with the run around b.s. And said and I quote “the system changes the prices and they have no control over the booking costing more with the hot rate than a regular rate “ . I am still confused. Do yourself a favor and don’t believe the hot rate b.s. It’s a joke. 42 minutes wasted out of my life dealing with them and still no help what so ever. The low price guarantee is a joke.

Be careful with the search system of this application! runs the risk of sending you far away from where you are. I was at a loss as I needed a hotel right next to the airport. I chose the location "fco airport" and they sent me to a hotel 15km from the airport in the "lido di ostia" region. if I put as the main filter the distance from the airport means that I need it to be as close as possible, since I had to have a few hours. as it was late it had no transport and had to sleep at the airport. total nonsense! and I still have to pay for the system error. as I was not compensated for the error, I will make this critic on the internet about this absurd error and the treatment policy of the clients of this "company"

I have used Hotwire 7 times in the past getting the property I wanted 2 times out of 7. To my surprise there is now a feature that gives you a sneak peak of the hotel you will get. I use the app with Trip Advisor to look at the hotels that are up for grabs. Thanks to the sneak peek of the room I snagged a great 4.5 * hotel in NYC at an excellent price. With that feature Hotwire will now be my hotel app of choice. Thank you for listening to your customers.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’ve used Hotwire several years and have rarely been disappointed. Most of my usage is booking some weekend hotels. We have been very frustrated that recently Hotwire combined the downtown area and the 7th Street District in Fort Worth. I’ve mostly stopped using Hotwire when we desire to go to downtown Fort Worth on the weekends because we risk not being near the areas we prefer. We like both of those areas, but it is too spread out to enjoy if the hotel is in the 7th St. District, but our entertainment that weekend is downtown.

I have used Hotwire for over 10 years and have never had a problem. Today will be the last time. I tried to call them to cancel my car rental since I am unable to travel due to the Coronavirus. What a scam. They will not refund due it due to it being a Hot rate. I understand the cancellation policy but this is due to an International Disaster. I contacted the rental car company & they said it’s Hotwire’s policy not theirs. They do not receive the money until I pick up the rental. Really Hotwire you won’t amend your policy due to unforeseen circumstances which is out of my control. Shame on you. I hope its worth losing a loyal customer. Your taking peoples money without providing a service.

I am sick and tired of this company's unaccountable customer service. The company posts information on its site and app about hotel amenities and services that are not true, and then barley steps up to correct their mistake. What's worse, even after you report the mistake, they don't change the inaccurate information posted. Another reviewer called the company "fraudulent," they weren't far off from the truth. Wasn't the first time I had to call my credit card company to contest their charges and probably won't be the last time.

I booked a hotel stay with Hotwire and upon arrival the hotel would not honor the Reservation due to Covid-19 restrictions. When I contacted Hotwire for a refund they stated that the issue was between the hotel and myself. The hotel stated that it was not paid by Hotwire had had cancelled the reservation so they would not recover the money. Contacted Hotwire again and was informed that the policy is “no refunds under no circumstances” and that I agreed to the policy when I made the reservation. I’ve seen others describe this company as fraudulent and now I would have to agree. It’s only $120 but it’s the principle of doing the right thing for the customer. Incidentally I had to sleep in my car that night to add insult to injury!

I’ve been using Hotwire for years - I’ve learned to book early to get the best deals and have stayed at hotels I otherwise wouldn’t afford. I have referred so many people to “my secret” to how I get my unbelievable deals and my wife brags about my ability to find 4 star hotels for 2 star prices. I now use it for my business travel and refuse to use our companies travel site because I save our company so much money. Thanks Hotwire!

During the Christmas I was in Dubai, I straggle couple of times with Hotwire booking. One time I had been charged additional 150$ when I arrived to the hotel, the hotel managers informed me that there is 150$ fee for each person, that fees related to ongoing event for the Christmas Eve inside the hotel, even when I was not interested I had been forced to pay it or will not be checked in (well known hotel). Other time I have been given the wrong hotel which is inside the airport and I had to contact the customer service to resolve this matter, it took me 2 hours to solve it. I have been a member for 10 but I am very disappointed and will never use Hotwire.

I’ve been using Hotwire for a while now but never the app and ever since I started using the app I’ve had a problem every time. I wanted to book one night not 2 nights the system sometimes freezes on you and Press is more than one night so people please be aware it’s better to call or online but NOT the app. To be completely honest I hate hate the app it just booked 2 night instead of one in the people at customer service can I help you because at the end of the day that was your mistake for not paying attention to the app. Because apparently it is your responsibility to make sure the app works properly on your phone.
