New Logo Branding & App is a Mess

Gone is the beautiful handwritten Air Asia logo which brings about nostalgic feelings of sunny travels to world class destinations. The new app update replaces it with a lowercase ‘a’ which is backed by a faded color red which is not even part of their branding identity. The app design is striving to be like AirBnb but it is seriously lacking in design and travel appeal. The new branding and app has made me lose all excitement for travel to Asia. I haven’t even gone into how much their app crashes when trying to pay for tickets.

The recent make-over with claim super app is really dumb. Tap in-app banner opens in-app browser and asks to download the app from app store. Finding flights, as I assume the core feature is now even crazier. Input the origin and destination cities then the search gives you recommendation to buy groceries. I know the business gone crazy at the moment, but don't you guys think its important to have a good check before release?

I booked a ticket in AirAsia APP, but the flight was cancelled. Then, the AirAsia didn't return my money back, and they turned my money into a credit account of AirAsia without my unification. I think it is no more than one star, just for my experiences.

I booked multiple times for me & my friends for an upcoming vacation but I received an email that airasia cancelled all the flights (which is understandable bcos of the virus). But then again, I tried to get my credit A LOT OF TIMES through the website bcos it won't let me through AVA. Now I can't even call the customer service to solve any problem bcos the last time I called in they said they will just entertain flights in India and now I don't know how to get my money back. SUCH A SHAME!!!

The app doesn’t seem to do something as basic as display the flight status. AVA wasn’t any help - just got an error message after entering flight date and flight number. The app also does not allow you to save the boarding pass to the iOS wallet.

I am not sure who is managing the app or website... Have the worst experience. App: It knows I am booking for myself.. yet doesn't auto fill my details and treats me as guest on my account. Tried to pay via net banking... Keep getting directed to their favorite bank ...let me pay using my own bank account. Website: Never passed the slider test ... Either not made for chrome..or just not made for desktop browser at all .

Hidden fees at end of booking process

Processing (credit card) fees used to be within reasonable levels. Now they are akin to hidden charges as not known until after a lengthy booking process. Recently was charged in excess of 10% of total ticket costs as a booking (credit card) fee. Anything above 3% is fraudulent as it is inconceivable that Air Asia is charged more than 3% for credit card transactions. Malaysian regulators should stop this type of behavior.

Poor Design & Hidden Cost

I booked a flight on the app and could not view the summary before payment. It booked for an incorrect time (may have selected above or below option) along with insurance. Changing the time to correct selection around an appointment cost another 2800INR even WITH the insurance. The ticket ended up being 2x reasonable cost. I suspect this happens often with the poor design that does not allow you to view and confirm your itinerary before processing payment. Great design to earn extra money and upset customers. We won't be flying Air Asia again.

I tried to use their website and had difficulties completing my booking (the payment part was a problem) so I downloaded the app. After making the booking - the payment screen returned a “500 error” but, to my surprise, it went thru. This is only part of the story...when checked my seat assignment - even though I paid for seat selection they auto assigned my seats at the very last row - so I tried to change it to a decent one but the app will not allow me to pay the difference. I was stuck in the “make payment” button that doesn’t do anything. Horrible app!!!

You have no working contact number, no live chat NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I hope you read this. Your airport staff in the Philippines are non responsive and rude. There’s no access to ask for refund by email. You guys try to make a contact by using AVA live chat but nothing can computer do anyway with our problems, only real human can answer all of our questions! Why it’s very difficult to reach those call center?! What are you doing there? I’ve been repeating all the information you need to make a refund but you keep take me around and around with no final deals!!!!

Unable to pay from Visa Credit Card (Bank of Maldives) for any bookings from the beginning of this year. However, AMEX card works. Checked from our bank and they have confirmed it’s not a problem from their side. Once the credit card information is entered and confirmed the OTP, it redirects to a plan html page with an error. Looks like it is an error of your payment gateway. Please fix it soon!

I love this site and the airlines. The online booking process is super simple. You can choose your options like meals and seat assignments. Best of all, you don’t need a PhD in Business or Physics to decipher baggage fees! The cost of flights is broken down so you can choose less expensive days to fly. This airline is terrible. They charge more for baggage then they do for flights. The customer service is terrible. They make you pay for everything including water. They scammed me and made me purchase a new flight otherwise they were going to charge me $790usd for my 30k of baggage. Then they said they would refund my money and after 3 weeks of jumping through hoops I haven’t seen a single dollar back. I will never fly his airline again.

I’m visiting Thailand and Vietnam in September 2019 with a group of friends from Europe. I read one of your customers reviews at your Apple App Store. It related to an incident in June of last year. Where the customer and some others were stranded at the airport and didn’t get the help with Check-in from your staff when your Check-in machine didn’t work. One would expect you to respond to such a Negative Review. DOES THIS MEAN that the rest of your company has a bad attitude towards its customers. AirAsia must have a monopoly or your business will suffer. I will look for alternative arrangements when I make my bookings and earn my friends about your problem.

I spend a couple of hours only just to try to figure out why there’s addition baggage charge when I choose loading luggage. But in more option sections there were more additional luggage charges. Stupid and waste of time. Poor application.

I love the airline but they have to get their booking process sorted out on this app. It’s been this way for years. I gave up on them two years ago and decided to try again recently. Same issues. It takes at least a half hour and 10 attempts to confirm and pay for your booking. And that’s when you can even log on... which is regularly problematic as well. I wonder how much $$ they miss out on from potential passengers just giving up....

We booked a flight to pucket from Chiang Mai and we tried to cancel it due to the typhoon that was heading to picket and Samui we tried canceling it before there 24 hours which is aloud and no one was able to help, they customer service phone number wasn’t working and we head to the airport in Chiang Mai and the staff couldn’t do anything they told us to go online and do it and we couldn’t we spent 2 hours on the phone which cost us a lot as it was international we drove and hour to the airport and still they couldn’t do anything. I don’t recommend this airline if you are in asia or anywhere in thailand. The worst!

I accidentally opted in to buy checked luggage for the returning flight in a one way trip. My bad, but course the online checkout process is designed to trick users into buying all the add ons. Customer service wouldn’t allow me to cancel that. Whatever I get it that’s part of the model to make some extra cash. Later I tried to see if I could change the checked luggage option from the returning flight to departing. Support said I had to purchase an additional option. There’s no refund or change here for AirAsia. Why do such a boneheaded thing when you have the easy opportunity to do the right thing for your customer?

I’ve tried several times to book flights on the Air Asia app using preset user profiles for my family. Every time the App displays all our birthdays on the booking one day off from the dates in the profiles and I can’t change the dates in the booking. I could go ahead and finish the booking but I have no confidence the birthdates on the booking will match the right birthdates, and this won’t match our IDs when we check in. I cant risk booking here and risk losing the ticket due to an invalid date. I just can’t trust this app.

Stuck in a traffic and I thought I could save my flight by checking in using the app from the passenger seat (I didn’t any luggage to check). The app kept giving me an error. Had to go through all the lines, by the time I was able to talk with the check in clerk, the gate was just closed. And of course the staff blamed me for the error, instead of being helpful or at least sympathetic. The app does nothing is just a waste of space in your phone.

First, you have to go all the way through the flight selection, almost to entering guest details to get the full price. If you want to change departure or return date, you have to cancel that booking (Are you sure you want to cancel?) THEN START ALL OVER!?$&@:&?!&!!! Once I did go back to the beginning, the price went up $10. Stupid design, replace that software engineer.

I kept trying repeatedly to check a bag for about 30 hours prior to my flight on both the app and the website. You save money when you check your bag in advance. It kept giving me an error (I must have tried 10x over the 30 hours, at different times of day and even on the way to the airport and at the airport). When we got to the counter, the lady working was like, “too bad, now you have to pay full price to check your bag at the counter” despite me showing her a bunch of screenshots of the bag booking errors. No sympathy, no customer service. When things are smooth, he’s, it’s a cheap price, but when there’s an issue, this company has no accountability.

I worked in Malaysia for three years before and I always used Air Asia. So easy to book flights; and the ground and flight crews were consistently polite, efficient and just awesome. After my 1-month holiday, I would already miss Malaysian food and so I would order online for my return flight. This was the only time I would actually enjoy airplane food. Thank you, AirAsia.

There is bug here and there but overall the app works fine. Big minus point is the application doesn’t allow checking in or I couldn’t do it (had to use web application instead)

I booked a flight for my friend on the 12th of June 2018 Flight # Z2 327 from MNL to Tacloban, she was already at the airport & terminal hours before the flight, when suddenly the kiosk of the check-in machine isn’t showing her flight & then she ask it number of times to an attendant who was also wasn’t professionally knowledgeable about the flight time of that said Flight # Z2 327. Very poor accessibility & communication & lack of helpfulness from the crew itself. Because of that it cost her her flight & the supervisor wasn’t helpful to make amends about the confusion not only she was left from the flight but 4 other customers were force to get a new ticket without any amends, all forfeited because of the poor of execution of your company. Never will I be a customer with Airasia again my good sir/ma’am. NEVER AGAIN. P.S All your flights are always delayed.

I kept trying repeatedly to check a bag for about 30 hours prior to my flight on both the app and the website. You save money when you check your bag in advance. It kept giving me an error (I must have tried 10x over the 30 hours, at different times of day and even on the way to the airport and at the airport). When we got to the counter, the lady working was like, “too bad, now you have to pay full price to check your bag at the counter” despite me showing her a bunch of screenshots of the bag booking errors. No sympathy, no customer service. When things are smooth, he’s, it’s a cheap price, but when there’s an issue, this company has no accountability.

We booked a flight to pucket from Chiang Mai and we tried to cancel it due to the typhoon that was heading to picket and Samui we tried canceling it before there 24 hours which is aloud and no one was able to help, they customer service phone number wasn’t working and we head to the airport in Chiang Mai and the staff couldn’t do anything they told us to go online and do it and we couldn’t we spent 2 hours on the phone which cost us a lot as it was international we drove and hour to the airport and still they couldn’t do anything. I don’t recommend this airline if you are in asia or anywhere in thailand. The worst!
Terrible App

I tried to use their website and had difficulties completing my booking (the payment part was a problem) so I downloaded the app. After making the booking - the payment screen returned a “500 error” but, to my surprise, it went thru. This is only part of the story...when checked my seat assignment - even though I paid for seat selection they auto assigned my seats at the very last row - so I tried to change it to a decent one but the app will not allow me to pay the difference. I was stuck in the “make payment” button that doesn’t do anything. Horrible app!!!

I have been using AirAsia APP for year always had trouble with the Payment and dates and feed back from the bank , twice to return back to the precedent page I did not check the date again then in the airport I was 1 month early I had to transfer the ticket to the new one it cost me a fortune.
Poor Design & Hidden Cost

I booked a flight on the app and could not view the summary before payment. It booked for an incorrect time (may have selected above or below option) along with insurance. Changing the time to correct selection around an appointment cost another 2800INR even WITH the insurance. The ticket ended up being 2x reasonable cost. I suspect this happens often with the poor design that does not allow you to view and confirm your itinerary before processing payment. Great design to earn extra money and upset customers. We won't be flying Air Asia again.

I love this site and the airlines. The online booking process is super simple. You can choose your options like meals and seat assignments. Best of all, you don’t need a PhD in Business or Physics to decipher baggage fees! The cost of flights is broken down so you can choose less expensive days to fly. Highly recommend this app and airline.
Can’t trust this app

I’ve tried several times to book flights on the Air Asia app using preset user profiles for my family. Every time the App displays all our birthdays on the booking one day off from the dates in the profiles and I can’t change the dates in the booking. I could go ahead and finish the booking but I have no confidence the birthdates on the booking will match the right birthdates, and this won’t match our IDs when we check in. I cant risk booking here and risk losing the ticket due to an invalid date. I just can’t trust this app.

We were traveling from Malaysia to Jeju Korea and they made my girlfriend buy a second ticket because she is Vietnamese. I told them 100 times she doesn’t need visa for Jeju Island. But they would not listen. As if a second ticket would have changed that. Any way I bought another ticket for no reason. Still love Air Asia regardless

So I just booked a ticket. It showed paid from an immediate message I got from Amex. But not paid on the Air Asia website. They wanted me to pay again. Can you imagine? Very annoying as obviously wrong. I called from USA to Bangkok. The good news is that the agent was very helpful and said it was all ok and gave me a ticket confirmation number.

I love the airline but they have to get their booking process sorted out on this app. It’s been this way for years. I gave up on them two years ago and decided to try again recently. Same issues. It takes at least a half hour and 10 attempts to confirm and pay for your booking. And that’s when you can even log on... which is regularly problematic as well. I wonder how much $$ they miss out on from potential passengers just giving up....

I booked multiple times for me & my friends for an upcoming vacation but I received an email that airasia cancelled all the flights (which is understandable bcos of the virus). But then again, I tried to get my credit A LOT OF TIMES through the website bcos it won't let me through AVA. Now I can't even call the customer service to solve any problem bcos the last time I called in they said they will just entertain flights in India and now I don't know how to get my money back. SUCH A SHAME!!!

Stuck in a traffic and I thought I could save my flight by checking in using the app from the passenger seat (I didn’t any luggage to check). The app kept giving me an error. Had to go through all the lines, by the time I was able to talk with the check in clerk, the gate was just closed. And of course the staff blamed me for the error, instead of being helpful or at least sympathetic. The app does nothing is just a waste of space in your phone.

First, you have to go all the way through the flight selection, almost to entering guest details to get the full price. If you want to change departure or return date, you have to cancel that booking (Are you sure you want to cancel?) THEN START ALL OVER!?$&@:&?!&!!! Once I did go back to the beginning, the price went up $10. Stupid design, replace that software engineer.
Not user friendly for first time users

This app auto fills a lot of information especially birthdays, and as a first time user I didn’t recognize what it was doing. I realized it immediately after submitting my purchase but even 40 seconds later I couldn’t change my order. I spent an hour in the phone with customer service and they couldn’t help me so I bought new tickets... and lost 5000 baht (about 150 USD)lots of things that could be improved

This airline is terrible. They charge more for baggage then they do for flights. The customer service is terrible. They make you pay for everything including water. They scammed me and made me purchase a new flight otherwise they were going to charge me $790usd for my 30k of baggage. Then they said they would refund my money and after 3 weeks of jumping through hoops I haven’t seen a single dollar back. I will never fly his airline again.
Visa Credit Card Payment Issues

Unable to pay from Visa Credit Card (Bank of Maldives) for any bookings from the beginning of this year. However, AMEX card works. Checked from our bank and they have confirmed it’s not a problem from their side. Once the credit card information is entered and confirmed the OTP, it redirects to a plan html page with an error. Looks like it is an error of your payment gateway. Please fix it soon!
Hidden fees at end of booking process

Processing (credit card) fees used to be within reasonable levels. Now they are akin to hidden charges as not known until after a lengthy booking process. Recently was charged in excess of 10% of total ticket costs as a booking (credit card) fee. Anything above 3% is fraudulent as it is inconceivable that Air Asia is charged more than 3% for credit card transactions. Malaysian regulators should stop this type of behavior.

There’s no access to ask for refund by email. You guys try to make a contact by using AVA live chat but nothing can computer do anyway with our problems, only real human can answer all of our questions! Why it’s very difficult to reach those call center?! What are you doing there? I’ve been repeating all the information you need to make a refund but you keep take me around and around with no final deals!!!!

The recent make-over with claim super app is really dumb. Tap in-app banner opens in-app browser and asks to download the app from app store. Finding flights, as I assume the core feature is now even crazier. Input the origin and destination cities then the search gives you recommendation to buy groceries. I know the business gone crazy at the moment, but don't you guys think its important to have a good check before release?

I’m visiting Thailand and Vietnam in September 2019 with a group of friends from Europe. I read one of your customers reviews at your Apple App Store. It related to an incident in June of last year. Where the customer and some others were stranded at the airport and didn’t get the help with Check-in from your staff when your Check-in machine didn’t work. One would expect you to respond to such a Negative Review. DOES THIS MEAN that the rest of your company has a bad attitude towards its customers. AirAsia must have a monopoly or your business will suffer. I will look for alternative arrangements when I make my bookings and earn my friends about your problem.
Buggy!

When it works it ok but very buggy and unreliable. While it works on iPhone, it will not recognize user name/password on iPad. I’ve troubleshot everything and it just will not work. iPhone version crashed just I was about to board flight; luckily (since I’m wary of the app) I had a paper boarding pass, but that would have been a pretty crappy situation if I had not had paper.

I accidentally opted in to buy checked luggage for the returning flight in a one way trip. My bad, but course the online checkout process is designed to trick users into buying all the add ons. Customer service wouldn’t allow me to cancel that. Whatever I get it that’s part of the model to make some extra cash. Later I tried to see if I could change the checked luggage option from the returning flight to departing. Support said I had to purchase an additional option. There’s no refund or change here for AirAsia. Why do such a boneheaded thing when you have the easy opportunity to do the right thing for your customer?

This app is not very useful. It did show my outbound flight (BKK-MLE) but I was unable to find, check in, or show my return flight (MLE-BKK) one week later. Even your website was highly confusing (had to click BKK-MLE to “check in” for return flight. Website check in did not affect or fix the app.

Very difficult to book tickets. Requires repeated attempts. Will not take the names as written on the passport such as hyphenated names. Changes birthdays by 1 day. Repeatedly comes up with arbitrary errors especially the “unauthorized” error. Flights on planes are great but I would fire the IT firm and hire experts not novices.

WARNING!! Bad business practices, fraudulent actions against customers. Was double charged for a flight and AirAsia refused to reimburse the additional fare. Credit card company advised to file claim against AirAsia. Pay the extra amount if needed and fly a different airline. The app doesn’t seem to do something as basic as display the flight status. AVA wasn’t any help - just got an error message after entering flight date and flight number. The app also does not allow you to save the boarding pass to the iOS wallet.
New Logo Branding & App is a Mess

Gone is the beautiful handwritten Air Asia logo which brings about nostalgic feelings of sunny travels to world class destinations. The new app update replaces it with a lowercase ‘a’ which is backed by a faded color red which is not even part of their branding identity. The app design is striving to be like AirBnb but it is seriously lacking in design and travel appeal. The new branding and app has made me lose all excitement for travel to Asia. I haven’t even gone into how much their app crashes when trying to pay for tickets.
