While the app seems to work fine for controlling the camera, you can’t easily view your videos on Apple TV without jumping through a few hoops. This functionality should be a given expectation, especially this late in the product’s existence.

I’m a long-time user of GoPro cameras and this app. I don’t understand why I must keep turning my iPad from landscape to portrait and back again to get the app into landscape. Then, during certain actions, the app reverts back to portrait and I again must physically turn my iPad to portrait and back to landscape. I also sometimes have challenges connecting to the GoPro Max. It seems to stem from the Max reverting back to 5.0 GHz and must change it back to 2.5 GHz. Also it would be nice if the camera recognized when it is downloading content and would then remain on. Frustrating when the camera powers down for “non-use” when it is actually being used. Other than those, the app does what it is supposed to do.

I bought GoPro plus thinking I was going to get all this extra space on my phone, since my photo album on my phone is full. Only come to find out it takes forever to download and that’s if it even downloads before losing connection. After the GoPro App was filled I was told that I had to delete my pictures from my phone to make room for the GoPro media so I can then transfer into their cloud .?.?.? Super inconvenient and not worth the money. I tried to look up so many things that can be wrong in my end but I came to the conclusion that’s it’s just not a great app and help support sounds like they get the same problem quite frequently.

I have been complaining for months. Still can not properly edit my GoPro 360 videos that I spent over 20 hours downloading in the app. Several things: 1. Even if you turn off Stabilization and Gyro BEFORE clicking the overcapture feature, they do NOT stay off and automatically turn back on when I start to record. It used to work perfectly for editing various and smooth perspectives for the 360. 2. When I try to edit my 360 video by saving frames and getting it to look the way I want, I go to render the video and the rendered version looks NOTHING like my edit. The app gives it an entirely different perspective all by itself. Therefore, leaving all my footage useless. This is has been going on since last November. I am so sorry I kept updating the app after that. It used to work perfectly.

I use the Hero8 for motocross it’s easy to use cut clips and save the best moments and send to your buddies easily syncs with my phone I can do all the cutting and saving from my iPhone it’s fantastic!

I am having a major problem with my GoPro. I can only find my footage by controlling my camera with my phone and viewing the videos in my phone in the app. Every time I try and look at the footage on the camera itself, nothing is there. Every time I try and connect to my computer, it says there are no files. And good luck trying to get ahold of anyone at GoPro to help with these issues, I’m all on my own.

Frustrating App

The initial connection is great, thereafter it is just crappy. Worked with customer support multiple times. Have done all of the resetting, manual updates, and it makes me not want to use it or stop trying. My iPhone X has no issues with any other devices. I pay for GoPro Plus and would think that would help some how with getting a replacement or something.

The Go Pro App is garbage. I cannot edit a video for more than 15 minutes without it kicking me out and losing all of my editing. It happened to me three times after investing 2 hours into each video. At this point I’m ready to sell the GoPro and delete the app. My work is completely lost and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one to have this issue. This is absolutely ridiculous. How can one of the tops cameras in the world have the lowest grade app. Go pro you need to fix this issue or hire a new app developer.

OK I have not noticed one bad thing about this the GoPro app except for I have to connect to the GoPro and then change my Internet. I don’t understand why so many people are so angry about something that’s not even a problem! This app is incredible it’s helpful and the quick story things, oh my gosh they are so awesome! So how people can judge things so harshly and so badly I don’t understand it this app is just awesome I love it.

All the 1 and 2 reviews about this app are legit. This app is garbage and ruins the experience of using a GoPro and sorting media. They will charge your iTunes $60 a year and say your subscription is not recognized. GoPro, before your nameless developer tells me to open a ticket, I’ve already done that. Please respond to it. End edit:: Concerns:App freezes. GoPro app does not recognize my + subscription bought through iTunes. Auto uploader works randomly and not in chronological order. Must save photos to the app before moving them to the camera roll, which is double dipping memory (GoPro app alone is eating 33gb on my phone right now, but can’t delete because it’s difficult to know what is in the cloud yet) all photos do not load in the media. Photos that do load are blurry. Burst photos load in media section as single photos. Single photos have icons indicating they are burst. Single photos pulled from a burst set cannot be used by Quik stories. App does not recognize all files types supported BY A GOPRO. GoPro says I have to cancel my PLUS in iTunes and sign up for PLUS on their website butttttt I’ll lose all my photos that I currently have and will also need a new email address for the trouble. I can go on but I don’t care anymore. You don’t have a choice but to download this app if you want to share a photo using your phone Positive: using the app is a little better than viewing files right from the camera’s screen. So there’s that Summary:When I used this app with my hero3 I don’t remember any issues. It’s a waste of time with my hero8. Do not pay for plus through iTunes stay away

I’ve owned several cameras but GoPro (Max) is my favorite by far, it has so many great features at a reasonable price that you would spend hundreds or thousands to get in a bulky DSL, it so versatile, just grab it and go, ready to shoot in seconds. Can’t wait to buy a second one!

I am a go pro max owner. Currently I wish I was not. A 500$ 360 Camera is expected to have real software that will allow the amazing footage to be produced. Sadly due to poor leadership by GoPro all I get this this app which is just a constant reminder of just how much GoPros lack of a software suite stings. Instead of a good app of Mac or Windows you have to use toy. If I were some rich kid who wanted to make cute videos of my overpriced yappy dog I might be thrilled with this app (although I don’t see how with such poor and often hidden controls). Anyone shelling out 500$ for a camera should expect real tools not a iOS app that has so many flaws you will continually cruise their name as adding a key frame jumps the cameras position away from where you just set it. You will cruise their name when you want to force a upload to their cloud service and find out you can’t. Not that it matters because even if you do upload it, it’s likely to get lost in their never to be seen again and when you try to upload a new copy via a real computer it will tell you it’s already there (but it’s not). GoPro should be ashamed of themselves for only doing half the job (hardware) and thinking using an iOS app would be enough for anyone who actually wants to produce something semi professional looking. No work flow on a device which has limited internal storage, no SD card slot, and only slow WiFi to get large 5k videos. Oh I’ll toss in how you can’t keyframe, save that, upload a actual 360 video with those key frames to YouTube or Facebook. Please if you haven’t bought a GoPro don’t. You will only regret it like I do.

I absolutely LOVE my GoPro! The battery life for the individual batteries themselves could use some improvement, especially in cold conditions, NONETHELESS I definitely don’t mind purchasing a few extra batteries for they are VERY affordable and the overall experience the GoPro captures and outputs is second to NONE!!!

Integrating the quick app into the GoPro app is the worst you could have done. Sure it has some new nice features but it crashes constantly. And when it does it deletes everything you’ve already done. Don’t get me wrong, the quick app crashed constantly too but at least all highlights an trims etc have been saved. This app is the reason I’m selling my GoPro max so I can use the old quick app instead of this unstable thing.

I assumed loop recording meant it would write over previous files when the card filled up. It simply stops recording. Not much good when you’re using it as a dash cam. When using the app to view recordings on my phone it sure would help if the files were in some sort of order like... first to last??? Maybe a time stamp on them as well.

I can’t even use the app. I’ll make an edit and then the app just crashes and I can’t do anything. The music choices are good and the transitions are great, but I don’t feel like I have enough control. I have a hard time navigating the app and I try to do things that the app just doesn’t have and stuff that the app should have. Go Pro can do better than this.

Amazing product and editing concept. WiFi is a mess. Real mess! Tec Support useless. Bla bla bla. Used it with GoPro remote that’s not supported but works.afterwards Could not reconnect it with my iPad. Even after multiple resets and factory reset of GoPro. Running it on phone now. Editing is conceptually great just lost my edits sometimes and cuts don’t work always. Please fix connectivity so remote and iPad and phone can all conect with out a problem.

I bought GoPro hero 7 silver and all attachments in October through Best Buy in prep for my two month trip to Bali. After trying it with my iPhone in the US it took one photo. When I got to bali, it would not sink up to phone. Then we went snorkling and inside waterproof case no more then 7 meters down the camera got water inside. I was extreamely careful to be sure everything was set and closed up tight prior to going into the water. When I returned from bali, the Best Buy return policy of one month was long past and I was offered no help from them or there online staff. So, the app didn’t work and the camera and gear cost me 400 bucks I’ll probably never see again. This all for maybe 8 min of video footage.

It works great till you try to offload videos to YouTube or phone And it takes me 8-9 hours of tryimg before it finally will download a video then it takes 10-20 try’s to download from GoPro app to YouTube ! What a hassle !!! So easy just filming with my phone and uploading 100 times quick and smoothly ,. This app and camera don’t work good together . Wasted $500 on this camera GoPro 7 black and can’t return been over a month tryimg to figure this thing out to fix but it is too much of a headache just to download a video to my phone !

Love the H7 hate this app, ok so the media pulled from the GoPro saves to its sand boxed library and you have to then export it again from there to your local files, older version did not act this way. Gets very disorganized because it does not tell you that you sent it over you just get one in the app and now one in the photos section. A little search shows it “does not double your data” but uses some kind of image shortcut hack, doubtful! You can export the same pic/vid many times and it just adds more complexity duplicating itself. No way to tell that it’s on your device so you have to look in two different locations for the same media, and you can make many copy’s that will just be scattered around in random creation order on the iPhone photos side, huge fail from a marketing idea which keeps you trapped using there branding style editing software which is terrible, if it was good enough to work well it wouldn’t be such a big deal and would welcome the sandboxed media, but I have to burn it through there firewall to unlock it and basically after I sort out my few projects on this iPhone I’m just going strait to the pc from here forward! Please don’t make this harder than it should be GoPro! Can’t even share albums inside your app, don’t try to limit us in your corner we know the grass is greener on the other side...
Great features in theory, but glitchy and almost unusable

GoPro (and the app) have some great features, and the video quality of their cameras makes gopro one of the best choices out there (although I understand others are quickly catching up). The app isn’t all that user-friendly, but I can live with that. The problem is that the connectivity between app and camera is terrible. I tried two different cameras and two different phones with the same results. It connects successfully maybe 25% of the time. Closing out of the app and restarting is usually fixes the problem (not always), but it’s very frustrating to never know if it will work or not. If you’re hoping to be able to start the camera remotely to quickly catch action, don’t count on it. It also constantly loses connectivity randomly, so don’t expect to rely on it for a live view experience. The auto upload feature is a great idea, where it automatically uploads your clips to the cloud when it connects to your home WiFi (or whatever WiFi you set), but in practice it never does it automatically. Beyond that, their solution for organizing and editing video is subpar and definitely not meant for a pro or anyone who does more than upload a few vacation pics here and there. GoPro might have the name recognition, but that’s where it stops.
New app is poor with quik integration

Up until the recent update making videos was easy and flawless. But with the new quik integration it’s weak compared to the separate quick app. First the highlights is probably the worst part. You could previously slide the highlight marker to the exact frame now it’s guess and check I have to go back to the quik video to see if it even tagged the right spot then when it’s not right I have to go back in to edit mode. It’s back and forth on every clip and takes me 2-3 times longer to edit now. Old app tag the frame ... next clip ... done, already miss it. The music selection seems to be less than before as well. Why default to 4:3??? Does anyone even have a 4:3 display device these days. And why not default to original size?? Maybe I missed that on the old app but I can’t make a video in the new app with out either cutting off parts of the sides or top. I hope this is just the first try and the app will improve and that the peeps at GoPro even read these reviews. I just upgraded to the new 7 from a 5 and the new app is the only reason I regret spending the $$$. It was so much better in the old app.

I mean it’s a good app unlike everyone else says Because then they probably don’t know how to use it (read all) I have a GoPro even though I know that I’m probably not gonna use it much only on trips and vacay’s but i still keep it just in case... let’s talk about the features okay we’ll Im first off you can live stream which is awesome you can see what your camera is seeing in live time even with sound! so it’s like a mini security camera second off you can download pictures and videos from your GoPro at any time but warning it does take a while which I don’t like but after a while you download it/them also when you first get the app it will take some time to start it up but then things will run smoothly. I normally don’t do reviews this is probably my first time doing one so I made it a bit long and thorough but what this whole passage was saying is, it’s a good app and even though you might not use it that much it still helps.

I find the software for both the Camera (Hero5 Black) and the GoPro App to fall sadly short of their advertised capabilities. The camera software is tediously slow and disconnects from the app randomly. Pairing it with the app is time consuming at best (when it pairs) and frustrating when it won’t. This process could be greatly improved by removing the need for password when pairing (or at least make it optional) and getting rid of screen lock altogether or at least increasing the time before it locks itself. I find myself having to unlock screen three to four times when switching between photo and video settings and reviewing media. The net result is I spend FAR too much time fiddling with controls when I should be taking pictures. This is my fourth GoPro, and in fairness, each has been better than the last. The integral water proof case is awesome and the image quality is steadily improving. I give this three stars because the GoPro system has a lot of potential, but right now the camera controls and app don’t live up to the hype.

The gopro itself is a decent camera but the way it interfaces with this app is enough to make me want to sell it. This app is the least intuitive piece of software I have ever used and coming from such a large company thats just sad. I usually spend about 5-10 minutes trying to connect the camera (the only camera i ever connect) and when i finally do the gopro times out and turns itself off, disconnecting. Meaning i have to press a button on the camera every 4-5 seconds just to keep it alive, and when you’re trying to download something to the app that will take 20 minutes, you could see why this is maddening. The camera can be turned on and sitting next to the phone and it still takes 9 tries to connect it. Sometimes i have to connect through wifi, sometimes bluetooth, sometimes straight through the app. And not being able to give my camera a personal name? Just make it so only i can see that name and it wouldnt affect gopro in any way. This app behaves like one that is wayyy in beta. And it’s been like that for years now. Fix this gopro.

All I wanted to do was make a cool movie out of some short GoPro clips from vacation . There are barely any instructions at all. I’ve been messing with this for hours and still can’t figure it out . I can’t understand a few things. If I take a 2 min video and go back to watch it in the app and then out of that 2 mins I cut a clip out that’s 15 secs long why does that clip not save to the app so I can delete the 2 minute one. What’s the point of having the ability to cut and highlight clips and where do they save ??? It makes no sense to me that if I take a long video and go back to watch it and decide that I only want a minute of it that it doesn’t save anywhere . Then I tried quick and I can’t get my GoPro videos go transfer over . When I go into it and scroll down to GoPro it’s only showing 2 videos . I bought the GoPro so I could take cool clips when I’m away or fishing and make a movie out of them. Sorry , but if the 1 video that did transfer over Quik took like 10 seconds of it and made a movie if you can call it that. So far , it’s really aggravating.
Poorly designed, flaky, frustrating

The app has tons of problems and irritations. For example, I’ve spent the hour annoyed with: - Connectivity problems. Connecting to the camera sort-of works over WiFi, but this forces a disconnection from WiFi with Internet. (Despite much fiddling, Bluetooth seems to not work for transferring images.) - The app is designed to download pictures into **GoPro’s** cloud service, but I don’t want to manage + pay for yet another cloud service. I want my pictures with my other iPhone/iPad photos... but putting them there seems to only be possible one photo at a time, using many taps, via the “share” interface. Ugh. - The app randomly switches the iPad into portrait mode, making it painful on an iPad with a keyboard connected. - Images display initially as a very low resolution thumbnail, then after a *long* delay a better version appears, making it a really tedious process to figure out which images are good vs. blurry. The high quality images don’t seem to be pre-fetched or cached.

I used to use the GoPro App all the time when I lived in Hawaii to capture all my surf and snorkeling and hiking pics. It was amazing because I could do everything wirelessly with my phone and never have to plug into a computer. It used to be fast and all my pics and videos downloaded fast. Nowadays, I don’t use it as often, but definitely in the last year I noticed that App has really downgraded in quality and efficiency when I’m downloading my pictures from my GoPro. My pictures do not all load. I can never see all of them and if they do appear in view, it’s blurry. I updated my GoPro with the latest firmware. My app is updated. Batteries on both devices are charged or plugged in. I don’t understand why the app pic download is so terrible now. I don’t understand why it has to use cellular data. I should be able to stay on my WiFi connection and still connect to my GoPro to get my picture and keep the speed of WiFi without having to use data. I connect to my Google Home and Chromecast with my phone and stay on my WiFi.
Big issue

So I used to use my Go Pro Hero 4 session on this app and it worked great. I tried to use it yesterday and also today and still am unable to connect my Go Pro to the application. I have “ “forgotten” the WiFi network from the Go Pro and then tried to connect again. That didn’t work. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Nothing has worked. I keep getting stuck on the screen that tells me that I need to go connect the WiFi in my phone settings. So I do that and make sure it’s connected. Go back to the Go Pro app and a pop up comes up saying, “Oops, that didn’t work. There was a problem; try reconnecting to your camera’s WiFi in your iPhone’s settings.” And I am given the options “Get Support” or “Got it!” I have tried both options. Can’t find any new support on it... I have already followed all of the steps listed. Multiple times. My iPhone is also up to date and I have an iPhone 8 Plus. I really hope this gets fixed soon or else I don’t know what to do with my Go Pro.
Missing features for fusion

I bought the fusion on 3/12 and have been loving it. I hated how long it took to render videos on my computer then found out I could do them on my phone or iPad. It’s been way easier and faster using the app. After using it I realized it’s missing 2 key features that’s needed for the app and another one that would be nice to have. 1: joystick for editing. When I edit with my fingers by sliding the video it causes 2 huge issues. Knocks the video off it’s level, then I have to twist it back, and panning isn’t smooth. Using my phones accelerometer isn’t always ideal. Sometimes I can’t stand or spin to get the whole 360 degrees of video. If I want to edit on a plane or on the train, or anywhere in public, I can’t. 2: Add a panning feature for photos. Having a 360 camera is great, and there are times I want to show the whole 360 pic without making a tiny planet. In order for me to do this, I have to open the image, press screen recording, go back to the app, and spin in a circle. Once again a joystick would be nice since the pan is wobbly. 3: Split pic for selfies. There are cameras on both sides of the fusion, this allows me to catch both the action and my reaction. It would be nice if there was a way to export 2 views in 1 pic/video without having to create 2 exports and putting them together using another app.

GoPro has finally made the ultimate app. This app lets me make Quikstories that look great very quickly and I’ve basically stopped bothering with using Final Cut Pro to edit because of the ease of use and how great the videos turn out. My only complaint would be that gopro please support 4k resolution output from the app! That’s the only downside. I rarely shoot 4k and take full advantage of my Hero Black 7 because I know the final QuickStory will only be 1080 anyways... I joined Gopro Plus and LOVE how the gopro automatically uploads everything and anything new to the cloud whenever I plug it in. First time I plugged it in I had 128gb and it successfully uploaded ALL of that content, although of course it took awhile. Now I don’t need to worry about deleting videos to save space, etc. it’s all in the cloud forever and easy to access.

The only reason this review isn’t getting one star is because if it was to function correctly I would have no complaints, I really love the user interface and what it is trying to achieve. However, ever since I got my GoPro Hero4 Black and downloaded this onto my phone, The app has progressively been getting worse. It’s gotten to the point where I take pictures but can’t see my pics once I go to my library. In order to see my pics, I’m forced to download all pictures individually onto my phone which takes up even more phone storage. A lot of times the app will cease to function, And I have to restart everything all over (Turn off Wi-Fi, restart Camera, force close the app). I ask that you fix this ASAP because it really takes away from the joy of using my GoPro and since I rely on the app as my viewfinder, and prefer taking pictures over video, this problem is just unfair and unacceptable to me as a customer. Please fix! Will rate higher once you do.
System crashes

I like the image of the camera but when taking photos it takes a lot to save the images. Also for some reason very often the camera frozen not letting me press on any commands. I have to turn it off and restart it to be able to preview the video. When loading the videos for preview it takes a long time and if I want to replay a video it frozen again. When I’m using the app with my iPhone sometimes won’t let me start recording saying the camera is in use. Regarding the battery life is better to have an extra battery. In my case (since photos take forever to save) I prefer recording a video but battery doesn’t last long. 2 to 4 hours turning off the camera in between videos to save battery life (it’s a pain). I do like the under water images the body of the camera and the options in resolution with the image stabilization.
GoPro isn’t there yet. Sad.

First, the Hero 7 Black takes beautiful action videos in daylight. However, The overall experience is clunky with the camera itself, the mobile app and the desktop version. It’s actually quite disappointing. Do I really need a master’s degree in computer science to shoot videos and edit them? Okay, that’s a bit of hyperbole but you get the point. I have top-end gear and I expected the GoPro experience to be seamless. Shoot videos, no weird settings/defaults, just point and shoot like an iPhone and have the basic magic happen. Plug it into my computer and use the app to import and edit the videos. Simple request. Instead, the desktop app imports only SOME files (using the approved high-end SD card), their desktop app can’t play it’s own videos (when VLC does — it’s a $3,000 laptop so it should on GoPro’s app too). Time lapse imports every frame as a separate file on the desktop app and plays them with massive stutter in the newest mobile app (iPhone XS max). Default settings on my laptop/phone. In addition, the extra functions on the GoPro camera itself are clunky — having to hit buttons twice, accidentally hitting buttons and having the thing go to hell, having the camera off and having it turn on if I accidentally hit the record button. The entire vision of what the GoPro and software does and how the camera/workflow integration is done needs to be revisited from the ground up. Period. Period.

As a professional videographer I highly recommend the go Pro hero seven along with the go Pro app and Quik video maker. For every day social media posting this is the absolute easiest, fastest and most professional looking video on the market. Especially the hero seven hyper stabilization!! I would not recommend shooting much video at night as your video can get pretty grainy but any daytime shooting or sunset shooting or shooting that would not allow for a big rig this is the way to go hands down. Big props to go pro for creating such amazing user-friendly applications to go along with the amazing Hero 7 Black. I have never written a review on any app but after using this one I had to say something. Next will be music videos I make using the app. It can’t be done!

All I want to do is save a clip from a video to my camera roll. Been trying for over an hour. Very poor instructions (still looking for them). When I’m fishing I run video then snip the clips I want. Very hard on iPhone. UPDATE: Here is GoPro response to my review: How to do it To grab a still frame from a video follow these simple steps here below: Tap the Media Library icon in the bottom right hand corner of the app Select the video you want Click on the Photo Icon next to the Scissors icon on the bottom of the app Scrub through frame-by-frame to the image that you'd like to share Select "Next" in the upper right hand corner Select where you'd like to share it to, and you're all set! Totally off topic. I already figured this out. GoPro please reread the original review. I am a long time GoPro user and have had multiple camera’s over the years. And to be fair, I have always been happy about my purchases. But that was until I got my hero 5 black and started trying to use it on the app. Here’s why: I film videos on my GoPro using the GPS feature so I can track my speed or location while recording. It is a great feature. Unfortunately, you are only able to retrieve this data if you download to the GoPro app. I would have no problem with this if it actually worked. But every time I plug my Quik Key into my iPad or other iOS device, it ends up not previewing the files, being unable to download them and the app ends up crashing and closing. My app is up so date, my Quik Key is the newer one, my camera is updated and the SD card is formatted properly. And these aren’t even long videos! If I can, I am able to import to the a directly from the camera. Unfortunately, this kills the camera battery and takes so long. Overall, -The app always crashes -It isn’t comparable with the GoPro Quik Key -It is really slow You would think the app designed for an “ACTION CAMERA” would be better at actually doing the ACTIONS it is designed to do. This review saddened me to write because I love this camera. But GoPro, this is a fail and a big one. Even your own accessories don’t work with your own app. One Star rating until see improvements
Crashing updates as usual

I've owned several gopros and as usual, the apps and updates are always crashing, the cameras rarely work without crashing. Keeping them paired is always a problem. Updates fail windowless, fail to install properly and using a computer is no better. Update : bought the new GoPro 7 and once again truly disappointed. I would have known better. First time underwater with the new water proof housing tested it before I went down turned it on took a 7 second clip and turned it off. Went for my dive, and saw a couple of sharks at 60 ft. Went to turn on the GoPro, nothing, dead, tried several times. Got to the surface and pulled the Camara out, dry, tried to turn it on, nothing,dead, pulled the battery out,put it back in and it turns on and works fine. Hey Go Pro,want to tell me how I'm suppose to do that 60ft under water? Maybe you should work on that!? Wasted money once again.
GOPRO FIX THIS; Videos won’t download

When I go to download the videos I recorded onto my phone using the app, it takes forever to download specific videos, and then when it gets to the end of the download, it says “converting your files to your quik story” and it sits there for a long time... one time I tried letting it sit for an hour and a half... it gets stuck. So I quit the download and open the app back up, and most of the videos I tried to download are not on the app. So I try to download them again, but when I pull down it goes straight to the “converting your files to your quik story” again. It won’t stop.. again, so I quit the app... again... the only way to get this to fix and download videos again, is if I delete the videos that never got downloaded. So my great shots I took have to be completely removed and never gotten to be seen because the APP WON’T WORK. This needs to be fixed.
May have damaged my SD card

I’ve been using this app for about a year since I got my Hero 7 Black. The camera itself has been glitchy and very disappointing but I had no issues with the app itself until recently. I was attempting to upload videos from snorkeling in Hawaii (I was very excited about the content) and the app immediately crashed. When I tried to open it again it said that I had no SD card. That was strange considering I had not removed the SD card yet. When I looked at my go pro and tried to view the media it said that there was a card error and all I could do was delete everything on it. Good bye cute turtle videos, so far GoPro has been nothing but a disappointment. Other than that however the app has worked pretty well, the videos I’ve downloaded in the past were smooth and quick to save.

First off I own the GoPro hero 7 silver. It is an exceptional camera but it doesn’t really matter too much because I do not use it very much other than trips and vacations. I do not necessarily think My camera quality is what it looks like in the GoPro hero 7 silver trailer/ GoPro videos. However the app is not good at all. It makes me connect to the GoPro WiFi which disconnects me to whatever WiFi I am using. It would be much easier if instead if WiFi, it was only bluetooth. I assume I am doing the process correctly but when I enter the GoPro app on my GoPros WiFi, when I connect to the camera, and look at the media on my phone, the media takes a while to load and a lot of time closing out the app. I decided to write this review because this has happened to me every time I load the media, and is even happening to me right now as I try to look at the footage from my recent trip.
Login Required - Insane Decision

Seriously, have you lost your mind requiring users to log in to use this app? I have been waiting a year to get this issue resolved and still no progress. I am going on an trip for 2 months and will not have international cell coverage while abroad. In addition, I am a pilot who uses your product during flight (where there is NO cell coverage). How do you expect your users to run this app with the asinine requirement of having to log in every time? A large percentage of your user base is remote & disconnected while using your products? Do you understand your user base at all? Maybe do some focus group testing PRIOR to modifying a functional working app just so that you can collect user data (which is none of your business to begin with). On a positive note, GoPro will have user data available to sell and market with - WHAT A RIDICULOUS, SELF SERVING, BRAINLESS & SHORT SIGHTED MOVE!!!! Fix this app by removing the login requirement!
Hilight tags are broken

U can’t delete tags without using the desktop app. The tags usually miss the most exciting part and play the really lame stuff, and since you can’t edit this, it screws Quik up. Transfer speed is slow, which I found out the hard way is necessary because the desktop app often corrupts/deletes videos from the Hero when transferring (it’s a common problem, despite what card you use the software glitches and your videos disappear). the only way to avoid losing footage is to lethargically WiFi transfer each file to phone for backup unless you want to end up looking at a bunch of .LRV files in your DCIM folder. An avid user of both Gopro and Garmin action products, I can safely say that even though Garmin has flaws and isn’t as popular, they at least provide a complete hardware-software integration. Gopro software is always buggy and it feels like they give you the middle finger whenever commit to using it. I only keep this app for composing my shot and reviewing footage, but after 6 years of poor quality I’ve learned it’s better to just use the Remote and LCD bacpac + Extendercable instead of dealing with these shoddy apps. Remember, you paid for the camera, not the software which is all that matters to GoPro. NEVER trust GoPro to transfer files. Always back up to a separate storage device before you ever consider opening this app.

Update October 2017: Don’t be fooled, this app only has high ratings because GoPro used new Apple store policy to let app developers wipe out old ratings, without giving users the ability to see ratings for previous versions! Nothing has changed! This useless app will still require you to sign in. You will not even notice until you are in a foreign country or in the middle of the ocean. It will conveniently log you out for unknown reasons and you won’t be able to log back in. Shame on GoPro and Apple. The end for GoPro is near... How many one-star reviews does it take for you to realize that we, the users (and potential buyers of your future products) do not want to login to your cloud just to be able to control OUR cameras. I might be in the middle of the ocean when I'm trying to use it. Or I might miss an important moment while trying to login. Just drop it, no one wants it!

Before I knew how to properly use this app I was so frustrated with it. I didn’t think you could edit in the app at all except cut clips, BUT OH WAS I WRONG! All I had to do was download video/picture into my media and VOILA editing features as far as the eye could see! Sorry for making a bunk review when I just was uneducated about the way the app worked! Love my GoPro! it’s come v handy with us building our tiny home development. fueled our instagram/YouTube pages with the videos of how blissful -and irritating- it is to build your home from ground up. Looking forward to many more tiny home builds, designs, workshops, laughs, tears, and for sure puppy snuggle videos the go pro will capture!

Just got the Hero 8 (upgraded from a hero 4 black). The app (on an iPhone XR) is very fast and easy to use. It’s actually easier to view, watch, and even fast forward through videos on the app vs. using my MacBook Pro. In the past the app has been slow and had bugs. But now it easily connects to my GoPro hero 8 and I can pretty much instantly scroll through all of the videos and dragging the bar at the bottom to scroll through is very smooth as well. I trimmed the video, added gauges to it, then airdropped it to my computer from my phone and it looks very crisp (I assume the image quality remained in 4K) Well done GoPro, this is a huge step up from the past!
Falls way short for livestream

I wanted so badly to love the updates. I have used it without too much trouble for my Hero 5 black for years. I saw the updates for the live-streaming with Hero 7 black and took the bait. Sadly my first go was a complete failure. I did some testing at home and everything recognized and worked. Get to the game and it won’t recognize the WiFi or my hotspot for the livestream. So I ditch the livestream and just record and still had connection problems. I missed the first 3.5 innings before I realized it wasn’t recording at all even though I thought I was stopping the recordings and restarting it between innings. I’m giving 3 stars as it is likely the Hero 7 that is the issue but it all should work together it’s a package deal!😢 I am returning the Hero 7 and looking at other recording/livestream options.
Worthless feature

It would be nice if the app recognized that it was connected to my camera and didn’t bring up the ‘connect your camera’ screen while at the same time the app says ‘camera connected’. This locks the user out from actually using the app to control the camera and download media. In this instance it was working for a few minutes, as I was playing with different settings for a particular lighting condition, and all of a sudden it goes into this ‘connect your camera’ feedback loop when the camera WiFi is on, my phone is for sure connected to it, and the app itself says ‘camera connected’ on the screen where I pick between my different cameras. WiFi has never been GoPros forte, I have an older camera that none of the support staff can find a solution to resetting the password, so WiFi is not at all usable on that device. Incompetence makes it a worthless feature.

I just got my first GoPro a few weeks ago, and have used it 5 or 6 times. This app is fine once you actually get in and get connected. But that takes time and extra, completely unnecessary steps. For some stupid reason, you can't use this app unless you "Log in", and you have to log in EVERY TIME YOU OPEN THE APP. This is incredibly inconvenient and frustrating. Even if I have an internet connection, it is still several extra steps that do NOTHING for me. The only thing I can think of is that GoPro is collecting user info and selling it. What else could be gained here? Please, GoPro, PLEASE, remove that login requirement. It's so bad that I don't want to use the app at all if I can help it. Looking at other reviews here and elsewhere, I can tell that I'm not alone and that this problem has been going on for almost a year. So I don't expect GoPro to actually fix this problem.
Struggles on iPad

I’m a long-time user of GoPro cameras and this app. I don’t understand why I must keep turning my iPad from landscape to portrait and back again to get the app into landscape. Then, during certain actions, the app reverts back to portrait and I again must physically turn my iPad to portrait and back to landscape. I also sometimes have challenges connecting to the GoPro Max. It seems to stem from the Max reverting back to 5.0 GHz and must change it back to 2.5 GHz. Also it would be nice if the camera recognized when it is downloading content and would then remain on. Frustrating when the camera powers down for “non-use” when it is actually being used. Other than those, the app does what it is supposed to do.

When it works it’s ok. But it’s silly to me that when you control your GoPro from the app and delete a video only does it from the app not the go pro so then you have to go into the GoPro and delete there. I also recorded bunch of baseball innns and every time I hook to phone to load new media it lost connection 39 clips couldn’t ever get them to load to watch and I ended up going into the GoPro to delete the ones I knew I didn’t want and deleted some I did cause the screen was to small to see. Complete waste of 4 hours today. My sons a catcher only gets so many plays and the one out of 3 games today is now gone. GoPro locks up if you try to switch from video to video searching have to delete everyone before moving to next one. Probably be ok if I was connecting to a computer but trying wirelessly is not efficient for time. Only reason I gave it 2 stars

As I continue down the journey of life , I have realized that so many moments go past and are no longer available. I was hoping that my purchase of My GoPro Hero Five Black would change that. Up to this point with device, I have several set backs. 1st off the wireless receiver that came with unit was defective. I have received RA# and returned unit ,still waiting for replacement. In addition to that my app of Quik stories has a glitch and continues to shut off immediately following me opening app,why? Also it seems like the wireless connection to my Apple 6+ is spotty at best , Is there a resolution going into 2019? I am still a big fan .However , We are still waiting for the ability to capture those thrilling moments in our lives as you have so promised. Looking forward to GoPro 2019! Worst App I’ve Ever Used

I love my go pro, and have had it for several years. This app however has been horrible from the start, and gets worse as my GoPro ages (it’s only 4 years old) and the app can not properly interface with it. Every photo I take in single shot mode appears as a burst in the app which makes it inconvenient to view them, and some images don’t show up at all, just give a error symbol unless I go to the edit feature or save it to my phone then it will display the image which is not corrupted at all. I have also had endless trouble with the date and time meta data which the app appears to change when I download the photo off my camera or save it to my phone. Overall, this app makes me not want to use my GoPro to take photos. Even as a a millennial who loves my phone, I prefer to connect my device with a computer than use this app.

The app crashes a lot. Too often my videos don’t play. When i do an over capture it crashes and I have to do the entire process over again. Sometimes I go in to see my pictures and videos and they all have a triangle with an exclamation point on the thumbnails. Usually all the problems are fixed if I turn the camera off and I close the app on my phone. When that doesn’t work I take the battery out of the camera and wait a couple of minutes and put it back in and that’s how i get it to work. Too much struggle for a very expensive camera. I would expect a more responsive app

I bought a GoPro fusion and was really looking forward to using it. The first one I bought wouldn’t even connect to my phone so after working with Support for over an hour, they deemed it defective. I exchanged it for another one and that one connected. Took some video, downloaded it to my IPhone XR and now when I try to edit it, the app crashes and closes out 90. % of the time. It took me 10 tries to save 1:30 of a 7:00 video. The PC version of Fusion Studio won’t recognize the camera to import the video. So I gave up and bought a different brand camera. GoPro, get serious about fixing your software. The Fusion was my third (and last) GoPro purchase ever.

This was a 1.5 star rated app for almost a full year with about 40-60 reviews on each update. Then suddenly in August they got almost a thousand 5 star reviews with poor grammar and English? Incredibly fishy. Data miners on Reddit found that almost all of the recent 5 star “reviews” were from accounts that had never reviewed a single product beforehand, therefore they were dummy profiles created solely to make a review for this app. I’ve loved Gopro products but these last updates require a connection and online signup to be able to access your own device you paid money for, something that was never required when most of us long time users bought our gopros. Gopro stock prices have been low so they’re trying to datamine and sell your personal data, do not let the fake reviews trick you.

Lol this won’t even work properly, I can your app won’t let me see what I’m typing. Your cameras used to be the best. My GoPro 7 black barely makes it thru a clip now before freezing or shutting off. Half the time it won’t turn on, even fresh out of the case. All updates have been done, I have gone thru your help section and done everything possible. The app itself is ridiculous. I should be able to just download my videos from my $400 camera to my phone without first downloading it to your platform and giving you rights to my videos. And I should be able to do so without you bugging me to BYU’s your newest camera in the app... especially when I have a new one and the thing is shot. You guys should go back to basics and get it together or you’re gonna lose your base this won’t eat used to be Go Pro
Easy media transfers

Love that I can transfer my media without having a computer nearby. A lot of people complaining about the login; but I did it so long ago, that it doesn't even bother me now. Just connect my camera and go. The preview mode is easy to change your camera settings too. I love that you can grab a still image from a video, and it allows me to not worry about video+photo mode; which I always have trouble with in camera. I've been able to capture some amazing memories through this app, hence the 5 stars. Pairing with the Quik app is also a must. Check it out!

I have a GoPro Hero 5 session camera and while I was able to connect to it, review would have at least two stars more. However, I can’t connect to it any more. My phone can’t find WiFi network to connect with the camera. I am using their official app, but it keeps going into circles. For a while I am trying to connect, following all the steps I could find on the support section on their website. No progress. I still can’t connect to my camera. My phone is up to date, as well as, app, camera even quick. No use of it. I tried to open a chat session with support team, got “Chat is currently unavailable for you” message. So this is another way of looking for help from this guys. I have no problem with the fact that the product has bugs, but I am not fine with having no support at all.

The nintendo cartridge. A simple chunk of plastic with the best technology 1991 had to offer. When the game didn’t work properly you had but one choice: blow into it and clear the dust. Basically huck and pray. Fast forward to 2018. The GoPro camera offers the same fascinating frustrations. A chunk of plastic with 1991 technology that will leave you a helpless, hopeless and crying pile of despair with the blood pressure of your grandfather. The only main benefit being that it’s small so when it won’t pair with your app for the 1,900th time you have a realistic chance of throwing it over a building without permanent shoulder damage. I can’t believe I paid $250 for something that gives me the same exhilarating infuriation that a Chinese made knockoff Rolex could have provided for $10. At least the watch would tell me the time.

The app seems to work fine but I can’t for the life of me upload my videos to the cloud wirelessly. Every time I try (plugged in, fully charged, connected to my personal home WiFi) it gets stuck on the “uploading” phase but never completes. I’ve left it for hours and nothing. When I come back to it, the camera is hit to the touch... so the wheels are turning but ya not going anywhere. Bought this GoPro 6 hero for this feature in mind for easy storage and editing... am incredibly frustrated by its lack of function. I’m not buying all these 5 star reviews either... seems like fake accounts to me. No doubt your camera is amazing... but your cloud feature, app and auto upload is useless to me. And no I will not answer your 10 question survey... this review is all you need. Fix this please

Seriously, if you want to use the beta, then good luck pairing your iPhone/iPad to the camera via the app. The wifi will connect, but the app will constantly fail to pair with the camera. Otherwise the app works fine. Just don't upgrade your iOS to 13 if you want it to continue to work fine. I know this is the apps issue because before I updated my iPhone, the app paired with the camera and worked fine. After updating it stopped. Thankfully I have an old iPad that I literally can't update anymore so it's not a huge issue for me. But that said, unless you have a backup plan, don't update your iOS to the beta.

Hi there! I read the reviews before writing this one. I’ve been using this app for a while now it’s my fairly new Hero 2018. Lately I’ve been running into issues with connecting my GoPro to the app and retrieving my recent media. By reading the other reviews, IOS 13 caused some bugs within the app? At first I didn’t look into this very much and it caused me to get disappointed. But I see that you are trying to fix them so I’ll be okay 🙂. All we want with the GoPro app is to connect to our cameras to view recorded media, change camera settings, and maybe use it as a viewfinder. That's how it used to be, but GoPro keeps adding "features" that make the app slower or break the main functionality! Before it was the whole "Capture" nonsense and requiring an online GoPro account to use the app. They finally listened and removed that. Now they pull the same shenanigans and make this "QuickStories" B.S. The app doesnt even open to the camera right away anymore but rather to this whole GoPro social garbage. On top of that there are popups advertising the latest camera or whatever. My cameras havent changed, yet now accessing media on it is so laggy! GoPro, fix the main functionality and strip this social garbage into its own separate app!

The app is great I can watch my videos on my phone using quick key. The problem is the subscription they never let you know that your about to pay $5.99 with out knowing. We know that you want us to forget that we are paying a monthly subscription so you can have all the money 💵 I know How it works and what you are doing but the way you change it by showing a choice bar every month asking if you want to continue paying or if you want to cancel. Thx for understanding and I hope there is a change to be made.

There’s no way these reviews are not paid for. This app is god-awful. You’d think having your own app for your own product they would connect much better. I’ve been using GoPro for years and the app has been buggy, non-user friendly, and just plain sad since day one. Fortunately, there are competitors now. I use these for personal and business, and unfortunately not an uncommon topic of technical error on the side of the cameras and application. The Hero5 is the best camera GoPro has produced and seems that it will stand that way. The days of prime for this app aren’t and never were. This app continues to be a nuisance. Luckily people think they’re gold and I was able to resell all 30 we originally purchased for slightly less than what was paid, damage and clean cameras.

Connects most of the time with my iPhone just fine. But I want to work on my iPad Pro, which it will not connect to 75% of the time. GoPro, please fix this connection problem with an update and I'd happily fix my review to a 5 star review. UPDATE: Almost there! I've changed my rating to a 4 star from a 3 because the updates and connection issues are almost gone! My iPad Pro connects almost every time now! So, once I can connect 10 times straight, I will be completely satisfied! Thanks GoPro for working on this software. I love using all of it! Looking forward to adding that last star!

GoPro needs to figure out a way to easily capture photos or shorter clips from videos, why do we need to pay a monthly subscription for this app, as well as have the Quik app? All I am trying to do is capture short clips of videos or grab a picture, but it is so tedious going back and forth from the GoPro wifi to the home wifi, I am not trying to make "professional" videos or movies, only trying to grab things I would like to share on social media. It's very frustrating having a $450 camera that you cannot sync and actually use from your mobile device to share moments or short videos. This should all be combined in one, easy to use app. I am pretty tech savvy, and I just spent an hour on the phone with GoPro support trying to figure this out--to no avail.

I bought GoPro plus thinking I was going to get all this extra space on my phone, since my photo album on my phone is full. Only come to find out it takes forever to download and that’s if it even downloads before losing connection. After the GoPro App was filled I was told that I had to delete my pictures from my phone to make room for the GoPro media so I can then transfer into their cloud .?.?.? Super inconvenient and not worth the money. I tried to look up so many things that can be wrong in my end but I came to the conclusion that’s it’s just not a great app and help support sounds like they get the same problem quite frequently.

I have been complaining for months. Still can not properly edit my GoPro 360 videos that I spent over 20 hours downloading in the app. Several things: 1. Even if you turn off Stabilization and Gyro BEFORE clicking the overcapture feature, they do NOT stay off and automatically turn back on when I start to record. It used to work perfectly for editing various and smooth perspectives for the 360. 2. When I try to edit my 360 video by saving frames and getting it to look the way I want, I go to render the video and the rendered version looks NOTHING like my edit. The app gives it an entirely different perspective all by itself. Therefore, leaving all my footage useless. This is has been going on since last November. I am so sorry I kept updating the app after that. It used to work perfectly.

I am having a major problem with my GoPro. I can only find my footage by controlling my camera with my phone and viewing the videos in my phone in the app. Every time I try and look at the footage on the camera itself, nothing is there. Every time I try and connect to my computer, it says there are no files. And good luck trying to get ahold of anyone at GoPro to help with these issues, I’m all on my own.

Frustrating App

The initial connection is great, thereafter it is just crappy. Worked with customer support multiple times. Have done all of the resetting, manual updates, and it makes me not want to use it or stop trying. My iPhone X has no issues with any other devices. I pay for GoPro Plus and would think that would help some how with getting a replacement or something.

I love the hero 8 just got it 4 days ago haven’t actually rode with it on my helmet but it look good on the 509 black fire and I learn something new about it every day

The Go Pro App is garbage. I cannot edit a video for more than 15 minutes without it kicking me out and losing all of my editing. It happened to me three times after investing 2 hours into each video. At this point I’m ready to sell the GoPro and delete the app. My work is completely lost and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one to have this issue. This is absolutely ridiculous. How can one of the tops cameras in the world have the lowest grade app. Go pro you need to fix this issue or hire a new app developer.

OK I have not noticed one bad thing about this the GoPro app except for I have to connect to the GoPro and then change my Internet. I don’t understand why so many people are so angry about something that’s not even a problem! This app is incredible it’s helpful and the quick story things, oh my gosh they are so awesome! So how people can judge things so harshly and so badly I don’t understand it this app is just awesome I love it.

All the 1 and 2 reviews about this app are legit. This app is garbage and ruins the experience of using a GoPro and sorting media. They will charge your iTunes $60 a year and say your subscription is not recognized. GoPro, before your nameless developer tells me to open a ticket, I’ve already done that. Please respond to it. End edit:: Concerns:App freezes. GoPro app does not recognize my + subscription bought through iTunes. Auto uploader works randomly and not in chronological order. Must save photos to the app before moving them to the camera roll, which is double dipping memory (GoPro app alone is eating 33gb on my phone right now, but can’t delete because it’s difficult to know what is in the cloud yet) all photos do not load in the media. Photos that do load are blurry. Burst photos load in media section as single photos. Single photos have icons indicating they are burst. Single photos pulled from a burst set cannot be used by Quik stories. App does not recognize all files types supported BY A GOPRO. GoPro says I have to cancel my PLUS in iTunes and sign up for PLUS on their website butttttt I’ll lose all my photos that I currently have and will also need a new email address for the trouble. I can go on but I don’t care anymore. You don’t have a choice but to download this app if you want to share a photo using your phone Positive: using the app is a little better than viewing files right from the camera’s screen. I’ve owned several cameras but GoPro (Max) is my favorite by far, it has so many great features at a reasonable price that you would spend hundreds or thousands to get in a bulky DSL, it so versatile, just grab it and go, ready to shoot in seconds. Can’t wait to buy a second one!

I’m getting increasingly frustrated with GoPro and it’s app. The camera issues aside, I now have to download my footage to the app before I can get it on my device. All fine and well (albeit kind of annoying) if it works, but now I keep “downloading footage” only to not have it in the app and therefore inaccessible on my device.

I am a go pro max owner. Currently I wish I was not. A 500$ 360 Camera is expected to have real software that will allow the amazing footage to be produced. Sadly due to poor leadership by GoPro all I get this this app which is just a constant reminder of just how much GoPros lack of a software suite stings. Instead of a good app of Mac or Windows you have to use toy. If I were some rich kid who wanted to make cute videos of my overpriced yappy dog I might be thrilled with this app (although I don’t see how with such poor and often hidden controls). Anyone shelling out 500$ for a camera should expect real tools not a iOS app that has so many flaws you will continually cruise their name as adding a key frame jumps the cameras position away from where you just set it. You will cruise their name when you want to force a upload to their cloud service and find out you can’t. Not that it matters because even if you do upload it, it’s likely to get lost in their never to be seen again and when you try to upload a new copy via a real computer it will tell you it’s already there (but it’s not). GoPro should be ashamed of themselves for only doing half the job (hardware) and thinking using an iOS app would be enough for anyone who actually wants to produce something semi professional looking. No work flow on a device which has limited internal storage, no SD card slot, and only slow WiFi to get large 5k videos. Oh I’ll toss in how you can’t keyframe, save that, upload a actual 360 video with those key frames to YouTube or Facebook. Please if you haven’t bought a GoPro don’t. You will only regret it like I do.

I absolutely LOVE my GoPro! The battery life for the individual batteries themselves could use some improvement, especially in cold conditions, NONETHELESS I definitely don’t mind purchasing a few extra batteries for they are VERY affordable and the overall experience the GoPro captures and outputs is second to NONE!!!

This app desperately needs a way to label/title imported videos. Between the lack of labeling and the jumbled/disorganized way they get imported, it literally takes too long to sort anything out to make it useful.

Integrating the quick app into the GoPro app is the worst you could have done. Sure it has some new nice features but it crashes constantly. And when it does it deletes everything you’ve already done. Don’t get me wrong, the quick app crashed constantly too but at least all highlights an trims etc have been saved. This app is the reason I’m selling my GoPro max so I can use the old quick app instead of this unstable thing.

I assumed loop recording meant it would write over previous files when the card filled up. It simply stops recording. Not much good when you’re using it as a dash cam. When using the app to view recordings on my phone it sure would help if the files were in some sort of order like... first to last??? Maybe a time stamp on them as well.

I can’t even use the app. I’ll make an edit and then the app just crashes and I can’t do anything. The music choices are good and the transitions are great, but I don’t feel like I have enough control. I have a hard time navigating the app and I try to do things that the app just doesn’t have and stuff that the app should have. Go Pro can do better than this.

Amazing product and editing concept. WiFi is a mess. Real mess! Tec Support useless. Bla bla bla. Used it with GoPro remote that’s not supported but works.afterwards Could not reconnect it with my iPad. Even after multiple resets and factory reset of GoPro. Running it on phone now. Editing is conceptually great just lost my edits sometimes and cuts don’t work always. Please fix connectivity so remote and iPad and phone can all conect with out a problem.

I bought GoPro hero 7 silver and all attachments in October through Best Buy in prep for my two month trip to Bali. After trying it with my iPhone in the US it took one photo. When I got to bali, it would not sink up to phone. Then we went snorkling and inside waterproof case no more then 7 meters down the camera got water inside. I was extreamely careful to be sure everything was set and closed up tight prior to going into the water. When I returned from bali, the Best Buy return policy of one month was long past and I was offered no help from them or there online staff. So, the app didn’t work and the camera and gear cost me 400 bucks I’ll probably never see again. This all for maybe 8 min of video footage.

I can’t ever just connect and start downloading my videos to my phone. Worst app ever and camera . It works great till you try to offload videos to YouTube or phone And it takes me 8-9 hours of tryimg before it finally will download a video then it takes 10-20 try’s to download from GoPro app to YouTube ! What a hassle !!! So easy just filming with my phone and uploading 100 times quick and smoothly ,. This app and camera don’t work good together . Wasted $500 on this camera GoPro 7 black and can’t return been over a month tryimg to figure this thing out to fix but it is too much of a headache just to download a video to my phone !

Love the H7 hate this app, ok so the media pulled from the GoPro saves to its sand boxed library and you have to then export it again from there to your local files, older version did not act this way. Gets very disorganized because it does not tell you that you sent it over you just get one in the app and now one in the photos section. A little search shows it “does not double your data” but uses some kind of image shortcut hack, doubtful! You can export the same pic/vid many times and it just adds more complexity duplicating itself. No way to tell that it’s on your device so you have to look in two different locations for the same media, and you can make many copy’s that will just be scattered around in random creation order on the iPhone photos side, huge fail from a marketing idea which keeps you trapped using there branding style editing software which is terrible, if it was good enough to work well it wouldn’t be such a big deal and would welcome the sandboxed media, but I have to burn it through there firewall to unlock it and basically after I sort out my few projects on this iPhone I’m just going strait to the pc from here forward! Please don’t make this harder than it should be GoPro! Can’t even share albums inside your app, don’t try to limit us in your corner we know the grass is greener on the other side...

GoPro (and the app) have some great features, and the video quality of their cameras makes gopro one of the best choices out there (although I understand others are quickly catching up). The app isn’t all that user-friendly, but I can live with that. The problem is that the connectivity between app and camera is terrible. I tried two different cameras and two different phones with the same results. It connects successfully maybe 25% of the time. Closing out of the app and restarting is usually fixes the problem (not always), but it’s very frustrating to never know if it will work or not. If you’re hoping to be able to start the camera remotely to quickly catch action, don’t count on it. It also constantly loses connectivity randomly, so don’t expect to rely on it for a live view experience. The auto upload feature is a great idea, where it automatically uploads your clips to the cloud when it connects to your home WiFi (or whatever WiFi you set), but in practice it never does it automatically. Beyond that, their solution for organizing and editing video is subpar and definitely not meant for a pro or anyone who does more than upload a few vacation pics here and there. GoPro might have the name recognition, but that’s where it stops.
New app is poor with quik integration

Up until the recent update making videos was easy and flawless. But with the new quik integration it’s weak compared to the separate quick app. First the highlights is probably the worst part. You could previously slide the highlight marker to the exact frame now it’s guess and check I have to go back to the quik video to see if it even tagged the right spot then when it’s not right I have to go back in to edit mode. It’s back and forth on every clip and takes me 2-3 times longer to edit now. Old app tag the frame ... next clip ... done, already miss it. The music selection seems to be less than before as well. Why default to 4:3??? Does anyone even have a 4:3 display device these days. And why not default to original size?? Maybe I missed that on the old app but I can’t make a video in the new app with out either cutting off parts of the sides or top. I hope this is just the first try and the app will improve and that the peeps at GoPro even read these reviews. I just upgraded to the new 7 from a 5 and the new app is the only reason I regret spending the $$$. It was so much better in the old app.

I mean it’s a good app unlike everyone else says Because then they probably don’t know how to use it (read all) I have a GoPro even though I know that I’m probably not gonna use it much only on trips and vacay’s but i still keep it just in case... let’s talk about the features okay we’ll Im first off you can live stream which is awesome you can see what your camera is seeing in live time even with sound! so it’s like a mini security camera second off you can download pictures and videos from your GoPro at any time but warning it does take a while which I don’t like but after a while you download it/them also when you first get the app it will take some time to start it up but then things will run smoothly. I normally don’t do reviews this is probably my first time doing one so I made it a bit long and thorough but what this whole passage was saying is, it’s a good app and even though you might not use it that much it still helps.

I find the software for both the Camera (Hero5 Black) and the GoPro App to fall sadly short of their advertised capabilities. The camera software is tediously slow and disconnects from the app randomly. Pairing it with the app is time consuming at best (when it pairs) and frustrating when it won’t. This process could be greatly improved by removing the need for password when pairing (or at least make it optional) and getting rid of screen lock altogether or at least increasing the time before it locks itself. I find myself having to unlock screen three to four times when switching between photo and video settings and reviewing media. The net result is I spend FAR too much time fiddling with controls when I should be taking pictures. This is my fourth GoPro, and in fairness, each has been better than the last. The integral water proof case is awesome and the image quality is steadily improving. I give this three stars because the GoPro system has a lot of potential, but right now the camera controls and app don’t live up to the hype.

The gopro itself is a decent camera but the way it interfaces with this app is enough to make me want to sell it. This app is the least intuitive piece of software I have ever used and coming from such a large company thats just sad. I usually spend about 5-10 minutes trying to connect the camera (the only camera i ever connect) and when i finally do the gopro times out and turns itself off, disconnecting. Meaning i have to press a button on the camera every 4-5 seconds just to keep it alive, and when you’re trying to download something to the app that will take 20 minutes, you could see why this is maddening. The camera can be turned on and sitting next to the phone and it still takes 9 tries to connect it. Sometimes i have to connect through wifi, sometimes bluetooth, sometimes straight through the app. And not being able to give my camera a personal name? Just make it so only i can see that name and it wouldnt affect gopro in any way. This app behaves like one that is wayyy in beta. And it’s been like that for years now. Fix this gopro.

All I wanted to do was make a cool movie out of some short GoPro clips from vacation . There are barely any instructions at all. I’ve been messing with this for hours and still can’t figure it out . I can’t understand a few things. If I take a 2 min video and go back to watch it in the app and then out of that 2 mins I cut a clip out that’s 15 secs long why does that clip not save to the app so I can delete the 2 minute one. What’s the point of having the ability to cut and highlight clips and where do they save ??? It makes no sense to me that if I take a long video and go back to watch it and decide that I only want a minute of it that it doesn’t save anywhere . Then I tried quick and I can’t get my GoPro videos go transfer over . When I go into it and scroll down to GoPro it’s only showing 2 videos . I bought the GoPro so I could take cool clips when I’m away or fishing and make a movie out of them. Sorry , but if the 1 video that did transfer over Quik took like 10 seconds of it and made a movie if you can call it that. So far , it’s really aggravating.

The app has tons of problems and irritations. For example, I’ve spent the hour annoyed with: - Connectivity problems. Connecting to the camera sort-of works over WiFi, but this forces a disconnection from WiFi with Internet. (Despite much fiddling, Bluetooth seems to not work for transferring images.) - The app is designed to download pictures into **GoPro’s** cloud service, but I don’t want to manage + pay for yet another cloud service. I want my pictures with my other iPhone/iPad photos... but putting them there seems to only be possible one photo at a time, using many taps, via the “share” interface. Ugh. - The app randomly switches the iPad into portrait mode, making it painful on an iPad with a keyboard connected. - Images display initially as a very low resolution thumbnail, then after a *long* delay a better version appears, making it a really tedious process to figure out which images are good vs. blurry. The high quality images don’t seem to be pre-fetched or cached.

I used to use the GoPro App all the time when I lived in Hawaii to capture all my surf and snorkeling and hiking pics. It was amazing because I could do everything wirelessly with my phone and never have to plug into a computer. It used to be fast and all my pics and videos downloaded fast. Nowadays, I don’t use it as often, but definitely in the last year I noticed that App has really downgraded in quality and efficiency when I’m downloading my pictures from my GoPro. My pictures do not all load. I can never see all of them and if they do appear in view, it’s blurry. I updated my GoPro with the latest firmware. My app is updated. Batteries on both devices are charged or plugged in. I don’t understand why the app pic download is so terrible now. I don’t understand why it has to use cellular data. I should be able to stay on my WiFi connection and still connect to my GoPro to get my picture and keep the speed of WiFi without having to use data. I connect to my Google Home and Chromecast with my phone and stay on my WiFi.
Big issue

So I used to use my Go Pro Hero 4 session on this app and it worked great. I tried to use it yesterday and also today and still am unable to connect my Go Pro to the application. I have “ “forgotten” the WiFi network from the Go Pro and then tried to connect again. That didn’t work. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Nothing has worked. I keep getting stuck on the screen that tells me that I need to go connect the WiFi in my phone settings. So I do that and make sure it’s connected. Go back to the Go Pro app and a pop up comes up saying, “Oops, that didn’t work. There was a problem; try reconnecting to your camera’s WiFi in your iPhone’s settings.” And I am given the options “Get Support” or “Got it!” I have tried both options. Can’t find any new support on it... I have already followed all of the steps listed. Multiple times. My iPhone is also up to date and I have an iPhone 8 Plus. I really hope this gets fixed soon or else I don’t know what to do with my Go Pro.
Missing features for fusion

I bought the fusion on 3/12 and have been loving it. I hated how long it took to render videos on my computer then found out I could do them on my phone or iPad. It’s been way easier and faster using the app. After using it I realized it’s missing 2 key features that’s needed for the app and another one that would be nice to have. 1: joystick for editing. When I edit with my fingers by sliding the video it causes 2 huge issues. Knocks the video off it’s level, then I have to twist it back, and panning isn’t smooth. Using my phones accelerometer isn’t always ideal. Sometimes I can’t stand or spin to get the whole 360 degrees of video. If I want to edit on a plane or on the train, or anywhere in public, I can’t. 2: Add a panning feature for photos. Having a 360 camera is great, and there are times I want to show the whole 360 pic without making a tiny planet. In order for me to do this, I have to open the image, press screen recording, go back to the app, and spin in a circle. Once again a joystick would be nice since the pan is wobbly. 3: Split pic for selfies. There are cameras on both sides of the fusion, this allows me to catch both the action and my reaction. It would be nice if there was a way to export 2 views in 1 pic/video without having to create 2 exports and putting them together using another app.

GoPro has finally made the ultimate app. This app lets me make Quikstories that look great very quickly and I’ve basically stopped bothering with using Final Cut Pro to edit because of the ease of use and how great the videos turn out. My only complaint would be that gopro please support 4k resolution output from the app! That’s the only downside. I rarely shoot 4k and take full advantage of my Hero Black 7 because I know the final QuickStory will only be 1080 anyways... I joined Gopro Plus and LOVE how the gopro automatically uploads everything and anything new to the cloud whenever I plug it in. First time I plugged it in I had 128gb and it successfully uploaded ALL of that content, although of course it took awhile. Now I don’t need to worry about deleting videos to save space, etc. it’s all in the cloud forever and easy to access.

The only reason this review isn’t getting one star is because if it was to function correctly I would have no complaints, I really love the user interface and what it is trying to achieve. However, ever since I got my GoPro Hero4 Black and downloaded this onto my phone, The app has progressively been getting worse. It’s gotten to the point where I take pictures but can’t see my pics once I go to my library. In order to see my pics, I’m forced to download all pictures individually onto my phone which takes up even more phone storage. A lot of times the app will cease to function, And I have to restart everything all over (Turn off Wi-Fi, restart Camera, force close the app). I ask that you fix this ASAP because it really takes away from the joy of using my GoPro and since I rely on the app as my viewfinder, and prefer taking pictures over video, this problem is just unfair and unacceptable to me as a customer. Please fix! Will rate higher once you do.

I like the image of the camera but when taking photos it takes a lot to save the images. Also for some reason very often the camera frozen not letting me press on any commands. I have to turn it off and restart it to be able to preview the video. When loading the videos for preview it takes a long time and if I want to replay a video it frozen again. When I’m using the app with my iPhone sometimes won’t let me start recording saying the camera is in use. Regarding the battery life is better to have an extra battery. In my case (since photos take forever to save) I prefer recording a video but battery doesn’t last long. 2 to 4 hours turning off the camera in between videos to save battery life (it’s a pain). I do like the under water images the body of the camera and the options in resolution with the image stabilization.
GoPro isn’t there yet. Sad.

First, the Hero 7 Black takes beautiful action videos in daylight. However, The overall experience is clunky with the camera itself, the mobile app and the desktop version. It’s actually quite disappointing. Do I really need a master’s degree in computer science to shoot videos and edit them? Okay, that’s a bit of hyperbole but you get the point. I have top-end gear and I expected the GoPro experience to be seamless. Shoot videos, no weird settings/defaults, just point and shoot like an iPhone and have the basic magic happen. Plug it into my computer and use the app to import and edit the videos. Simple request. Instead, the desktop app imports only SOME files (using the approved high-end SD card), their desktop app can’t play it’s own videos (when VLC does — it’s a $3,000 laptop so it should on GoPro’s app too). Time lapse imports every frame as a separate file on the desktop app and plays them with massive stutter in the newest mobile app (iPhone XS max). Default settings on my laptop/phone. In addition, the extra functions on the GoPro camera itself are clunky — having to hit buttons twice, accidentally hitting buttons and having the thing go to hell, having the camera off and having it turn on if I accidentally hit the record button. The entire vision of what the GoPro and software does and how the camera/workflow integration is done needs to be revisited from the ground up. Period. Period.

As a professional videographer I highly recommend the go Pro hero seven along with the go Pro app and Quik video maker. For every day social media posting this is the absolute easiest, fastest and most professional looking video on the market. Especially the hero seven hyper stabilization!! I would not recommend shooting much video at night as your video can get pretty grainy but any daytime shooting or sunset shooting or shooting that would not allow for a big rig this is the way to go hands down. Big props to go pro for creating such amazing user-friendly applications to go along with the amazing Hero 7 Black. I have never written a review on any app but after using this one I had to say something. Next will be music videos I make using the app. It can’t be done!

All I want to do is save a clip from a video to my camera roll. Been trying for over an hour. Very poor instructions (still looking for them). When I’m fishing I run video then snip the clips I want. Very hard on iPhone. UPDATE: Here is GoPro response to my review: How to do it To grab a still frame from a video follow these simple steps here below: Tap the Media Library icon in the bottom right hand corner of the app Select the video you want Click on the Photo Icon next to the Scissors icon on the bottom of the app Scrub through frame-by-frame to the image that you'd like to share Select "Next" in the upper right hand corner Select where you'd like to share it to, and you're all set! I am a long time GoPro user and have had multiple camera’s over the years. And to be fair, I have always been happy about my purchases. But that was until I got my hero 5 black and started trying to use it on the app. Here’s why: I film videos on my GoPro using the GPS feature so I can track my speed or location while recording. It is a great feature. Unfortunately, you are only able to retrieve this data if you download to the GoPro app. I would have no problem with this if it actually worked. But every time I plug my Quik Key into my iPad or other iOS device, it ends up not previewing the files, being unable to download them and the app ends up crashing and closing. My app is up so date, my Quik Key is the newer one, my camera is updated and the SD card is formatted properly. And these aren’t even long videos! If I can, I am able to import to the a directly from the camera. Unfortunately, this kills the camera battery and takes so long. Overall, -The app always crashes -It isn’t comparable with the GoPro Quik Key -It is really slow You would think the app designed for an “ACTION CAMERA” would be better at actually doing the ACTIONS it is designed to do. This review saddened me to write because I love this camera. But GoPro, this is a fail and a big one. Even your own accessories don’t work with your own app. One Star rating until see improvements
Crashing updates as usual

I've owned several gopros and as usual, the apps and updates are always crashing, the cameras rarely work without crashing. Keeping them paired is always a problem. Updates fail windowless, fail to install properly and using a computer is no better. Update : bought the new GoPro 7 and once again truly disappointed. I would have known better. First time underwater with the new water proof housing tested it before I went down turned it on took a 7 second clip and turned it off. Went for my dive, and saw a couple of sharks at 60 ft. Went to turn on the GoPro, nothing, dead, tried several times. Got to the surface and pulled the Camara out, dry, tried to turn it on, nothing,dead, pulled the battery out,put it back in and it turns on and works fine. Hey Go Pro,want to tell me how I'm suppose to do that 60ft under water? Maybe you should work on that!? Wasted money once again.
GOPRO FIX THIS; Videos won’t download

When I go to download the videos I recorded onto my phone using the app, it takes forever to download specific videos, and then when it gets to the end of the download, it says “converting your files to your quik story” and it sits there for a long time... one time I tried letting it sit for an hour and a half... it gets stuck. So I quit the download and open the app back up, and most of the videos I tried to download are not on the app. So I try to download them again, but when I pull down it goes straight to the “converting your files to your quik story” again. It won’t stop.. again, so I quit the app... again... the only way to get this to fix and download videos again, is if I delete the videos that never got downloaded. So my great shots I took have to be completely removed and never gotten to be seen because the APP WON’T WORK. This needs to be fixed.

I’ve been using this app for about a year since I got my Hero 7 Black. The camera itself has been glitchy and very disappointing but I had no issues with the app itself until recently. I was attempting to upload videos from snorkeling in Hawaii (I was very excited about the content) and the app immediately crashed. When I tried to open it again it said that I had no SD card. That was strange considering I had not removed the SD card yet. When I looked at my go pro and tried to view the media it said that there was a card error and all I could do was delete everything on it. Good bye cute turtle videos, so far GoPro has been nothing but a disappointment. Other than that however the app has worked pretty well, the videos I’ve downloaded in the past were smooth and quick to save.

First off I own the GoPro hero 7 silver. It is an exceptional camera but it doesn’t really matter too much because I do not use it very much other than trips and vacations. I do not necessarily think My camera quality is what it looks like in the GoPro hero 7 silver trailer/ GoPro videos. However the app is not good at all. It makes me connect to the GoPro WiFi which disconnects me to whatever WiFi I am using. It would be much easier if instead if WiFi, it was only bluetooth. I assume I am doing the process correctly but when I enter the GoPro app on my GoPros WiFi, when I connect to the camera, and look at the media on my phone, the media takes a while to load and a lot of time closing out the app. I decided to write this review because this has happened to me every time I load the media, and is even happening to me right now as I try to look at the footage from my recent trip.
Login Required - Insane Decision

Seriously, have you lost your mind requiring users to log in to use this app? I have been waiting a year to get this issue resolved and still no progress. I am going on an trip for 2 months and will not have international cell coverage while abroad. In addition, I am a pilot who uses your product during flight (where there is NO cell coverage). How do you expect your users to run this app with the asinine requirement of having to log in every time? A large percentage of your user base is remote & disconnected while using your products? Do you understand your user base at all? Maybe do some focus group testing PRIOR to modifying a functional working app just so that you can collect user data (which is none of your business to begin with). On a positive note, GoPro will have user data available to sell and market with - WHAT A RIDICULOUS, SELF SERVING, BRAINLESS & SHORT SIGHTED MOVE!!!! Fix this app by removing the login requirement!
Hilight tags are broken

U can’t delete tags without using the desktop app. The tags usually miss the most exciting part and play the really lame stuff, and since you can’t edit this, it screws Quik up. Transfer speed is slow, which I found out the hard way is necessary because the desktop app often corrupts/deletes videos from the Hero when transferring (it’s a common problem, despite what card you use the software glitches and your videos disappear). the only way to avoid losing footage is to lethargically WiFi transfer each file to phone for backup unless you want to end up looking at a bunch of .LRV files in your DCIM folder. An avid user of both Gopro and Garmin action products, I can safely say that even though Garmin has flaws and isn’t as popular, they at least provide a complete hardware-software integration. Gopro software is always buggy and it feels like they give you the middle finger whenever commit to using it. I only keep this app for composing my shot and reviewing footage, but after 6 years of poor quality I’ve learned it’s better to just use the Remote and LCD bacpac + Extendercable instead of dealing with these shoddy apps. Remember, you paid for the camera, not the software which is all that matters to GoPro. NEVER trust GoPro to transfer files. Always back up to a separate storage device before you ever consider opening this app.

Update October 2017: Don’t be fooled, this app only has high ratings because GoPro used new Apple store policy to let app developers wipe out old ratings, without giving users the ability to see ratings for previous versions! Nothing has changed! This useless app will still require you to sign in. You will not even notice until you are in a foreign country or in the middle of the ocean. It will conveniently log you out for unknown reasons and you won’t be able to log back in. Shame on GoPro and Apple. The end for GoPro is near... How many one-star reviews does it take for you to realize that we, the users (and potential buyers of your future products) do not want to login to your cloud just to be able to control OUR cameras. I might be in the middle of the ocean when I'm trying to use it. Or I might miss an important moment while trying to login. Just drop it, no one wants it!

Before I knew how to properly use this app I was so frustrated with it. I didn’t think you could edit in the app at all except cut clips, BUT OH WAS I WRONG! All I had to do was download video/picture into my media and VOILA editing features as far as the eye could see! Sorry for making a bunk review when I just was uneducated about the way the app worked! Love my GoPro! it’s come v handy with us building our tiny home development. fueled our instagram/YouTube pages with the videos of how blissful -and irritating- it is to build your home from ground up. Looking forward to many more tiny home builds, designs, workshops, laughs, tears, and for sure puppy snuggle videos the go pro will capture!

Just got the Hero 8 (upgraded from a hero 4 black). The app (on an iPhone XR) is very fast and easy to use. It’s actually easier to view, watch, and even fast forward through videos on the app vs. using my MacBook Pro. In the past the app has been slow and had bugs. But now it easily connects to my GoPro hero 8 and I can pretty much instantly scroll through all of the videos and dragging the bar at the bottom to scroll through is very smooth as well. I trimmed the video, added gauges to it, then airdropped it to my computer from my phone and it looks very crisp (I assume the image quality remained in 4K) Well done GoPro, this is a huge step up from the past!
Falls way short for livestream

I wanted so badly to love the updates. I have used it without too much trouble for my Hero 5 black for years. I saw the updates for the live-streaming with Hero 7 black and took the bait. Sadly my first go was a complete failure. I did some testing at home and everything recognized and worked. Get to the game and it won’t recognize the WiFi or my hotspot for the livestream. So I ditch the livestream and just record and still had connection problems. I missed the first 3.5 innings before I realized it wasn’t recording at all even though I thought I was stopping the recordings and restarting it between innings. I’m giving 3 stars as it is likely the Hero 7 that is the issue but it all should work together it’s a package deal!😢 I am returning the Hero 7 and looking at other recording/livestream options.
Worthless feature

It would be nice if the app recognized that it was connected to my camera and didn’t bring up the ‘connect your camera’ screen while at the same time the app says ‘camera connected’. This locks the user out from actually using the app to control the camera and download media. In this instance it was working for a few minutes, as I was playing with different settings for a particular lighting condition, and all of a sudden it goes into this ‘connect your camera’ feedback loop when the camera WiFi is on, my phone is for sure connected to it, and the app itself says ‘camera connected’ on the screen where I pick between my different cameras. WiFi has never been GoPros forte, I have an older camera that none of the support staff can find a solution to resetting the password, so WiFi is not at all usable on that device. Incompetence makes it a worthless feature.

I just got my first GoPro a few weeks ago, and have used it 5 or 6 times. This app is fine once you actually get in and get connected. But that takes time and extra, completely unnecessary steps. For some stupid reason, you can't use this app unless you "Log in", and you have to log in EVERY TIME YOU OPEN THE APP. This is incredibly inconvenient and frustrating. Even if I have an internet connection, it is still several extra steps that do NOTHING for me. The only thing I can think of is that GoPro is collecting user info and selling it. What else could be gained here? Please, GoPro, PLEASE, remove that login requirement. It's so bad that I don't want to use the app at all if I can help it. Looking at other reviews here and elsewhere, I can tell that I'm not alone and that this problem has been going on for almost a year. So I don't expect GoPro to actually fix this problem.
Struggles on iPad

I’m a long-time user of GoPro cameras and this app. I don’t understand why I must keep turning my iPad from landscape to portrait and back again to get the app into landscape. Then, during certain actions, the app reverts back to portrait and I again must physically turn my iPad to portrait and back to landscape. I also sometimes have challenges connecting to the GoPro Max. It seems to stem from the Max reverting back to 5.0 GHz and must change it back to 2.5 GHz. Also it would be nice if the camera recognized when it is downloading content and would then remain on. Frustrating when the camera powers down for “non-use” when it is actually being used. Other than those, the app does what it is supposed to do.
Locks everything up

When it works it’s ok. But it’s silly to me that when you control your GoPro from the app and delete a video only does it from the app not the go pro so then you have to go into the GoPro and delete there. I also recorded bunch of baseball innns and every time I hook to phone to load new media it lost connection 39 clips couldn’t ever get them to load to watch and I ended up going into the GoPro to delete the ones I knew I didn’t want and deleted some I did cause the screen was to small to see. Complete waste of 4 hours today. My sons a catcher only gets so many plays and the one out of 3 games today is now gone. GoPro locks up if you try to switch from video to video searching have to delete everyone before moving to next one. Probably be ok if I was connecting to a computer but trying wirelessly is not efficient for time. Only reason I gave it 2 stars
Frustrated and Disappointed

As I continue down the journey of life , I have realized that so many moments go past and are no longer available. I was hoping that my purchase of My GoPro Hero Five Black would change that. Up to this point with device, I have several set backs. 1st off the wireless receiver that came with unit was defective. I have received RA# and returned unit ,still waiting for replacement. In addition to that my app of Quik stories has a glitch and continues to shut off immediately following me opening app,why? Also it seems like the wireless connection to my Apple 6+ is spotty at best , Is there a resolution going into 2019? I am still a big fan .However , We are still waiting for the ability to capture those thrilling moments in our lives as you have so promised. Looking forward to GoPro 2019! Worst App I’ve Ever Used

I love my go pro, and have had it for several years. This app however has been horrible from the start, and gets worse as my GoPro ages (it’s only 4 years old) and the app can not properly interface with it. Every photo I take in single shot mode appears as a burst in the app which makes it inconvenient to view them, and some images don’t show up at all, just give a error symbol unless I go to the edit feature or save it to my phone then it will display the image which is not corrupted at all. I have also had endless trouble with the date and time meta data which the app appears to change when I download the photo off my camera or save it to my phone. Overall, this app makes me not want to use my GoPro to take photos. Even as a a millennial who loves my phone, I prefer to connect my device with a computer than use this app.

The app crashes a lot. Too often my videos don’t play. When i do an over capture it crashes and I have to do the entire process over again. Sometimes I go in to see my pictures and videos and they all have a triangle with an exclamation point on the thumbnails. Usually all the problems are fixed if I turn the camera off and I close the app on my phone. When that doesn’t work I take the battery out of the camera and wait a couple of minutes and put it back in and that’s how i get it to work. Too much struggle for a very expensive camera. I would expect a more responsive app
Keeps crashing on iPhone XR

I bought a GoPro fusion and was really looking forward to using it. The first one I bought wouldn’t even connect to my phone so after working with Support for over an hour, they deemed it defective. I exchanged it for another one and that one connected. Took some video, downloaded it to my IPhone XR and now when I try to edit it, the app crashes and closes out 90. % of the time. It took me 10 tries to save 1:30 of a 7:00 video. The PC version of Fusion Studio won’t recognize the camera to import the video. So I gave up and bought a different brand camera. GoPro, get serious about fixing your software. The Fusion was my third (and last) GoPro purchase ever.

This was a 1.5 star rated app for almost a full year with about 40-60 reviews on each update. Then suddenly in August they got almost a thousand 5 star reviews with poor grammar and English? Incredibly fishy. Data miners on Reddit found that almost all of the recent 5 star “reviews” were from accounts that had never reviewed a single product beforehand, therefore they were dummy profiles created solely to make a review for this app. I’ve loved Gopro products but these last updates require a connection and online signup to be able to access your own device you paid money for, something that was never required when most of us long time users bought our gopros. Gopro stock prices have been low so they’re trying to datamine and sell your personal data, do not let the fake reviews trick you.

Lol this won’t even work properly, I can your app won’t let me see what I’m typing. Your cameras used to be the best. My GoPro 7 black barely makes it thru a clip now before freezing or shutting off. Half the time it won’t turn on, even fresh out of the case. All updates have been done, I have gone thru your help section and done everything possible. The app itself is ridiculous. I should be able to just download my videos from my $400 camera to my phone without first downloading it to your platform and giving you rights to my videos. And I should be able to do so without you bugging me to BYU’s your newest camera in the app... especially when I have a new one and the thing is shot. You guys should go back to basics and get it together or you’re gonna lose your base this won’t eat used to be Go Pro
Easy media transfers

Love that I can transfer my media without having a computer nearby. A lot of people complaining about the login; but I did it so long ago, that it doesn't even bother me now. Just connect my camera and go. The preview mode is easy to change your camera settings too. I love that you can grab a still image from a video, and it allows me to not worry about video+photo mode; which I always have trouble with in camera. I've been able to capture some amazing memories through this app, hence the 5 stars. Pairing with the Quik app is also a must. Check it out!

I have a GoPro Hero 5 session camera and while I was able to connect to it, review would have at least two stars more. However, I can’t connect to it any more. My phone can’t find WiFi network to connect with the camera. I am using their official app, but it keeps going into circles. For a while I am trying to connect, following all the steps I could find on the support section on their website. No progress. I still can’t connect to my camera. My phone is up to date, as well as, app, camera even quick. No use of it. I tried to open a chat session with support team, got “Chat is currently unavailable for you” message. So this is another way of looking for help from this guys. I have no problem with the fact that the product has bugs, but I am not fine with having no support at all.

The nintendo cartridge. A simple chunk of plastic with the best technology 1991 had to offer. When the game didn’t work properly you had but one choice: blow into it and clear the dust. Basically huck and pray. Fast forward to 2018. The GoPro camera offers the same fascinating frustrations. A chunk of plastic with 1991 technology that will leave you a helpless, hopeless and crying pile of despair with the blood pressure of your grandfather. The only main benefit being that it’s small so when it won’t pair with your app for the 1,900th time you have a realistic chance of throwing it over a building without permanent shoulder damage. I can’t believe I paid $250 for something that gives me the same exhilarating infuriation that a Chinese made knockoff Rolex could have provided for $10. At least the watch would tell me the time.

The app seems to work fine but I can’t for the life of me upload my videos to the cloud wirelessly. Every time I try (plugged in, fully charged, connected to my personal home WiFi) it gets stuck on the “uploading” phase but never completes. I’ve left it for hours and nothing. When I come back to it, the camera is hit to the touch... so the wheels are turning but ya not going anywhere. Bought this GoPro 6 hero for this feature in mind for easy storage and editing... am incredibly frustrated by its lack of function. I’m not buying all these 5 star reviews either... seems like fake accounts to me. No doubt your camera is amazing... but your cloud feature, app and auto upload is useless to me. And no I will not answer your 10 question survey... this review is all you need. Fix this please

Seriously, if you want to use the beta, then good luck pairing your iPhone/iPad to the camera via the app. The wifi will connect, but the app will constantly fail to pair with the camera. Otherwise the app works fine. Just don't upgrade your iOS to 13 if you want it to continue to work fine. I know this is the apps issue because before I updated my iPhone, the app paired with the camera and worked fine. After updating it stopped. Thankfully I have an old iPad that I literally can't update anymore so it's not a huge issue for me. But that said, unless you have a backup plan, don't update your iOS to the beta.

Hi there! I read the reviews before writing this one. I’ve been using this app for a while now it’s my fairly new Hero 2018. Lately I’ve been running into issues with connecting my GoPro to the app and retrieving my recent media. By reading the other reviews, IOS 13 caused some bugs within the app? At first I didn’t look into this very much and it caused me to get disappointed. But I see that you are trying to fix them so I’ll be okay 🙂. Every version gets worse!

All we want with the GoPro app is to connect to our cameras to view recorded media, change camera settings, and maybe use it as a viewfinder. That's how it used to be, but GoPro keeps adding "features" that make the app slower or break the main functionality! Before it was the whole "Capture" nonsense and requiring an online GoPro account to use the app. They finally listened and removed that. Now they pull the same shenanigans and make this "QuickStories" B.S. The app doesnt even open to the camera right away anymore but rather to this whole GoPro social garbage. On top of that there are popups advertising the latest camera or whatever. My cameras havent changed, yet now accessing media on it is so laggy! GoPro, fix the main functionality and strip this social garbage into its own separate app!

The app is great I can watch my videos on my phone using quick key. The problem is the subscription they never let you know that your about to pay $5.99 with out knowing. We know that you want us to forget that we are paying a monthly subscription so you can have all the money 💵 I know How it works and what you are doing but the way you change it by showing a choice bar every month asking if you want to continue paying or if you want to cancel. Thx for understanding and I hope there is a change to be made.

There’s no way these reviews are not paid for. This app is god-awful. You’d think having your own app for your own product they would connect much better. I’ve been using GoPro for years and the app has been buggy, non-user friendly, and just plain sad since day one. Fortunately, there are competitors now. I use these for personal and business, and unfortunately not an uncommon topic of technical error on the side of the cameras and application. The Hero5 is the best camera GoPro has produced and seems that it will stand that way. The days of prime for this app aren’t and never were. This app continues to be a nuisance. Luckily people think they’re gold and I was able to resell all 30 we originally purchased for slightly less than what was paid, damage and clean cameras.
Connects... sometimes...

Connects most of the time with my iPhone just fine. But I want to work on my iPad Pro, which it will not connect to 75% of the time. GoPro, please fix this connection problem with an update and I'd happily fix my review to a 5 star review. UPDATE: Almost there! I've changed my rating to a 4 star from a 3 because the updates and connection issues are almost gone! My iPad Pro connects almost every time now! So, once I can connect 10 times straight, I will be completely satisfied! Thanks GoPro for working on this software. I love using all of it! Looking forward to adding that last star!
NOT USER FRIENDLY

GoPro needs to figure out a way to easily capture photos or shorter clips from videos, why do we need to pay a monthly subscription for this app, as well as have the Quik app? All I am trying to do is capture short clips of videos or grab a picture, but it is so tedious going back and forth from the GoPro wifi to the home wifi, I am not trying to make "professional" videos or movies, only trying to grab things I would like to share on social media. It's very frustrating having a $450 camera that you cannot sync and actually use from your mobile device to share moments or short videos. This should all be combined in one, easy to use app. I am pretty tech savvy, and I just spent an hour on the phone with GoPro support trying to figure this out--to no avail.
