I agree with BermudaSam's assessment of the forced AutoPlay setting. I prefer to choose what I watch next without your suggestion. Please put the switch back so I can turn this off. And when you have a feature like this in place don't remove it in future updates. This is annoying and only makes me want to turn somewhere else for entertainment.

Tell me who in Google HQ actually enjoys Autoplay. Then tell me how many people there hate this feature. Now have the people in the second group round up the handful in the first group and toss them on their necks. Autoplay is already a known menace in the browser version. No one needs it. No one asked for it. It's not innovation if it's just additional trash. Worst of all, the next video in the queue is most likely completely unrelated and definitely not what I'm looking for. For hell's sake, please don't fix what isn't broken. The original "show related videos" screen was great. The replay button was good. This autoplay isn't either.

I've told you my feedback on YouTube and made reviews,but you don't seem to listen to what any of us have to say. This app is like your project for science class that has a deadline in 1 month.What do you do during that time? For you guys,you'd probably not do anything.And then when that time comes to turn it in,you've done nothing so you turn in a paragraph with words that are impossible to read.So you get an F. On the overall grade of the class. Congratulations. When I read that these updates were intentional,I was shocked. Why would you attempt to ruin something that millions of people flock to for entertainment? Are you trying to make yourselves look bad? Or do you want us to have the least enjoyable experience you can ever have in terms of a mobile device? Either way,stop all these shenanigans and actually make a good update! What really gets me now is the video template (watching a video,pausing it,and an autoplay button with two arrows on the opposite sides of the video are very irritating),and the increased video size for the recommendations! At least in the older update,the videos you could see in the recommendations were a good and small size and you can scroll more easily to find the video you wanted. Now,they're huge,and it's extremely difficult to scroll down! The recommendations are terrible,and you still forgot about the bug that makes a video you are not interested in not go away,no matter how many times you "deleted it from the recommendations ",it will still show up!! You guys seriously don't care about nothing but money.If that's the case;why do I bother telling you these problems? We just want a better experience with this app;we want entertainment,ability to use YouTube easily,and a better place to upload videos and comment without it getting flagged for no reason left and right... Please fix the problems.... :(

The new updates are downgrades. I dislike the constant streaming of videos. It runs down my battery and does not allow me to control when I choose to view the videos. Also now I'm not able to see related videos except for the few limited. If I wish to continue my search, I have to return to the home screen to videos I just do not care about and suggestions I'd rather not have. The new home screen large thumbnail is less than desirable. Additionally, it's annoying not to able to read the entire... If you see a star it is there only because I was forced to give it. 👎👎👎👎👎

First of all, I can't watch any live streams without it cutting out on me every 5 seconds when using the app only. And now, you add autoplay after every video and put arrows on the video. I can't even finish a video without accidentally clicking on the arrow and I have to start the video all over again (and usually sit through another add) I use to like YouTube. Now.. Not so much.

So I adore YouTube, YouTube is my life. But currently the mobile version has decided to get Autoplay and I can't stand it. I know that you can turn it off and I have but now the videos stay in full screen after they finish playing and there is a next button which just gets in my way. I want it gone, get rid of it. Or at least make an option to get COMPLETELY rid of it, so that those people who actually like Autoplay can use it and those who don't don't have to deal with it.

The new update is very inefficient, annoying, and just plain pointless. The only difference is the display of the videos, and it's really bad. They're too big, don't allow to see the channel, and aren't organized like before. The "watch it again" and uploads from other YouTube channels don't show up. It's unorganized, too large, and just a plain mess. Updates are mandatory, but a redesign for every update isn't required, especially when it's just a messy downgrade. Updated again: Now YouTube has literally NO ROOM for me to tap a video without it skipping to another video ahead or behind, and is constantly on some kind of playlist, despite me having auto play turned off. YouTube is no longer allowing personalization it seems, and is just forcing useless crap onto people. YouTube, please just return back to the update before all this, that was organized, simple, and not forcing too much useless crap onto people that they don't want. And please, just leave it that way for a bit until you guys can actually come up with something BENEFICIAL, rather than lacking, useless, and a downgrade in general. This is coming from someone that tends to often understand everything and the reasons behind those things. But this? It's pointless and just stupid. Please do something about it. Thank-You.

In my opinion this is false advertisement I mean not literally, but 99.9% of the time it says play back error tap again to retry. It actually errors more then it plays. This app is obviously nothing to plan on watching a movie or any video at all. Highly recommend no one to even waste time downloading this trash. And honestly it don't even deserve any ratings because it should be removed from the the App Store. And I'm not finished. obviously the playback error was a feature added so u can switch to YouTube red... Some money hungry losers if you ask me, and that's bad when porn sites load videos before YouTube... Or should I say errortube. C'mom seriously??? I honestly don't want to see another update because it does no good. So I am uninstalling the app and sticking with the browser version.

Everything in the YouTube app is perfect, my only issue is the auto play. When I'm watching the current video, I sometimes accidentally hit the arrow button to change the video, without it being my intention. Even with that “pause” switch it still a bother.

I love this app and I'm always on YouTube, but there are a couple things that are making the experience less enjoyable. First of all, the new update with autoplay is very annoying. I have turned off autoplay, but whenever I click a video, there are still the buttons next to the pause button that you click to go to the next video. I keep accidentally clicking them and having my video interrupted. Please take away these buttons when autoplay is disabled!! Also, on the old interface I liked that I could swipe to the right and automatically have a menu with a "your channel" option. Now I have to click back through everything I've searched until I get back to the main menu with my channel so I can go on it. Please add the side menu again! Thank you for considering my review. 😄

The newest update on the IOS YouTube app has added a plethora of new features; most of them I do not approve of. One of the new features is the auto play function and the arrows on each side of the screen to go to the next video. This new feature is very inconvenient because the arrows cover too much of the screen and are very easily accidentally clickable. This causes the user to go to the next video even when they don not want to. The second useless and annoying feature added is the screen getting darker and eventually turning off. The arrows on the screen caused a mild problem, but this screen thing is a MAJOR inconvenience. Many times, I like to watch a video while I do some work, so I have to set down the iPhone in order to actually do the work. But, now I can't do this because the screen gets darker and turns off if you leave it alone for too long ,(even when a video is playing). This is inconvenient because if someone is watching a cooking tutorial on YouTube and they have their hands full, they will not be able to tap the screen every fifteen seconds to keep it up. These are my main two complaints about the app. It was fine before this useless new update. I strongly urge the app developers to change it back to the way it used to be where there are no arrows on the screen, and you don't have to tap the screen every few seconds.

Iv noticed recently that every video i watch now there is a arrow that will take you to another video witch is stupid, thats what the playlists are for plus i hit it every time i hit the pause button. Also iv noticed at the end of a video a load thing comes up for like 10 seconds then takes you to another vid thats pretty stupid to, i like choosing my videos not you choosing them for me and most the time its stuff i dont even want to watch, please get rid og these features there just messing stuff up.

Great app. Love it. But I listen to music from my history and the new update made it into a playlist sort of structure so I have the skip songs arrows on the screen and the whole reason I watch it on history is to not have those arrows so, if that could be a feature we could turn off or something, I'd love it.

You guys used to have a good app but in the past year or so, every update makes the app worse. This new update changes a few little things that I'm fine with, but why do the videos play automatically when the video you just watched is over? It used to only do that in playlists. If I want to watch one video and look at the comment section afterwards then let me do that please instead of rushing me to watch the next video that I don't even want to watch... I just try to look in the comment section while the vid is almost over but then it skips to the next video? Can you not? Can I look at the comment section or do I have to literally pause the video every time I want to comment or look at the comments. At least make it optional in the settings because this feature is so annoying. Ugh I've written so many YouTube reviews because there is always a problem.

I really dislike how things are forever in that playlist mode, and the touch little blip when you poke the video. As well with the smaller screen time bar. I can't scroll back to the beginning. The mail list of videos is very large and overbearing. I wish I could go back two updates. DO NOT UPDATE OR INSTAL THIS IS IF HAVEN'T ALREADY.

1. The Circle Video Length: On mobile, it's first of all, so sensitive. I moved the circle and it skipped from 0:00 to 2:55 (25 min vid). Second, it's hard to drag the circle back to the beginning of the video. 2. History videos now not showing: I go to the history, and there aren't any videos. Please fix the history/watched videos bug!

YouTube red is the biggest scam in the world. I shouldn't have to pay to be able to keep a video playing when I leave the screen. What if I want to listen to a song and read something? What if I want to hear a lecture while I'm walking? Shouldn't I be able to lock it and put it in my pocket? Shouldn't I be able to navigate away from the app and still hear what I'm listening to? This is google realizing that they've made one of the greatest services in the world free, and now they're backtracking it.

It's lacking in some features that are on computers. Such as certain video editing options or the ability to change the speed of videos. But the worst part has to be the missing annotations. Besides the massive lack of features, this app is actually pretty good (at least it's better than the Google+ app), and I'd recommend it to people that don't have access to a computer, or are like me and want to watch videos in their beds. Other than that, this app is a complete downgrade.

In fact this is the first review I've made in years. But seriously, the update is horrible. The home screen thumbnails are way too big and take up the whole screen. The new 'Autoplay' feature is terrible, please make it so if we have to have autoplay, there's not the "previous video" and "next video" buttons on the screen. If I'm in the middle of a video and I accidentally happen to tap one of those buttons, it takes me away from the video I was just watching and to whatever's up next on autoplay. Which means I have to go back to what I was just watching, wait for the ad to finish, and then skip to where I was in the video. It's such a headache JFC FIX YOUR SH*TTY APP

I don't like Autoplay, as I'm someone who knows what I want to watch and don't need YouTube/Google algorithms to inaccurately tell me what I want to watch. Now this wouldn't be so bad, EXCEPT for the fact that I cannot disable this feature like I can on the PC, which is so frustrating. I can't let a video finish without being forced to get rid of it so as to not watch a video I've already seen or another I have no desire to see or hear. I get that this is a free platform and Google does whatever the hell it wants, but boy I could use a little bit more intuition here. Having to start with the "trending page" when opening the app or site and then immediately having to switch to my subscriptions is already bad enough, but this is just another design flaw in this Leaning Tower of Pisa app. It's still working, but not with the best design and foresight invested prior to execution of these diminishing updates.
Put it out of its misery.

Lately YouTube has been really weird when it comes to updates. As a person who watches at least one video everyday, this influences me a lot. Occasionally, I'll get a new feature without updating the app(yes I checked and made sure it didn't update automatically). For instance, I was able to click annotations on mobile. I was okay with this though, it wasn't a huge problem. But now, one of my friends has access to an autoplay button and I don't(both on mobile). Why? Not only that but the new home tab is awful. I hate how large the thumbnails are and how unorganized it is. QUIT TRYING TO MAKE THE INTERFACE BETTER. Literally EVERY time you've changed it, there's been an overwhelming amount id complaints. The app is in serious need of fixing.

I overall enjoy this app, it's useful for watching your videos daily. But there is one issue that is seriously bothering me now. I know I already posted a review, well now I have a new one. I am very annoyed by the fact that when I close off my phone for the day and reopen I see that my YouTube has automatically updated. That's an issue because I am not enjoying these new updates, they are literally useless and making my time on YouTube more difficult than it actually needs to be. And the fact that I don't even have a choice now to update or not is unfair and should not be allowed. I would not only appreciate that you changed that, but also make the old version without all of this changed homepage and automatic play button available. Thank you

I don't know why people are saying that it keeps on crashing... It works on my iPad PERFECTLY! I think you guys just need to update your mobile device.... I updated my iPad to the latest version of iOS not to long ago, and since then I've had ABSOLUTELY NO trouble at all!!! Anyways, the updates is just wonderful! I love the new feature where you can search for videos and watching another video. And I noticed that you can FINALLY play playlists!!! Yay!! I made a private playlist for all my favorite songs so it's nice to not have to click EVERY time I have to switch it to the next song. But I also noticed you guys still haven't added a feature where you can edit your channel on your mobile device or check your inbox. I know you can just go to Safari or the web to check your inbox but it would be a WHOLE lot faster if it was just on the app. And I found out you CAN edit your channel on your mobile device. I guess I've never noticed (or was it there before?) there's a button where it says: "Switch to desktop" (I think??) and it turns into the layout you would have if you were on your PC which is so cool! THANKS GUYS! Overall, I just adore this new update! There's so improvements to be made but I understand you guys are trying your hardest! Thanks again, don't listen to the bad reviews, and I look forward to new updates!!!
Crashing and commenting problems!!

Crashes once and a while! And when I comment after 2 comments I comment another one it SAYS ERROR TO LOAD MESSAGE!!!!! I EVEN REBOOT THE APP and the same thing happens!!!! Please fix the comment problem not being able to post more than 2-3 comments!!!! And the same thing kinda happens on the computer version but I usually have to type the word shown up top and it will post the comment! But the app version it has a error!!!!!!! And fix the video quality! Many times the video will get blurry after a while and it takes me 2-3 times turning my I pod to sleep mode and going back to the app and then it usually clears up... And I want to be able to see the subscribers that subscribe your channel if you had one cause I have a channel and I go to uploads but it doesn't go to my main channel page I have to search up my name click on one of my video and click on my name to see the main channel! If I click uploads it shows a list of all of the videos you uploaded! If you don't know what I mean then... I tell you... It doesn't show my channel art when I click uploads and I have to search up my name and click in my name to see the main channel page where I can see my profile picture and channel art...I want to be able to see who subscribed my channel from my I pod and to be able to like videos! I know I'm typing a lot in this review but this is all I have to say so can you please fix the problems! Thanks!

I love the app, and i love all of the channels I am subscribed to and there content. However, when I go to a youtubers channel to see their list of videos on my ios it is just a blank screen. Sometimes I do not have time to watch all the videos in my sub box so later I would go to the individuals channel and look at their most recent videos to enjoy them. But just recently, for ios, it wont load, it doesnt say it cant load it is just blank, so i go to the channels home page, but not always are their most recent videos up in there. And if you still are unaware of the slight but bothering problem, when you click on a channel of anyone it loads everything just fine except the category that says VIDEOS. There are five categories on the ios the first being home, then videos, playlists, channels, then about. The videos category shows the most recent videos, but wont load. Have to go to the home everytime to watch the newest video. And it wouldnt be a problem except it sometimes only has the some of the new videos. But for the most part if i cant find it in my sub box then i can find the newest video from 6 months ago on the individuals channel. Thank you for reading, and please I would love for this to get fixed soon, and im glad that the playlist deletion glick that doesnt get deleted got fixed.

The old one is much more better. This one does nothing but buffering 24/7 making me take an hour just to watch a five minute video. You actually consider this a product when it barley works?! Considering my homes internet connection already isn't the most fast this app video download speed is often slow bull and I (and other people) "general errors". Based off the look of this I don't have a feeling this won't be fixed for a long while. Another problem is that if you close the app (like remove it from the active apps) the video you were watching goes into your history and you have to watch it all over again unlike the old apps where it just keeps going if you do that. This needs a direct link to the main menu to get back to the front page since I'd rather not press the back button over and over again. And I highly doubt I could watch it over again if it takes a eternity for the video to skip to where I wanted it to. Another slowness problem is that after waiting awhile while the video buffers is that sometimes it jumps you back to the beginning of the video. All the anti-buffering techniques hardly work (like turning wi-fi or your device on and off) unlike the old app where it usually worked. The only good out of this that I can watch music videos now but we have VEVO app for that. Overall a ruined app from iOS 6 and slow overall.
Buggy, inconvenient mess

Somehow, someway, this app has just gotten worse and worse with each update. The last interface we were provided with was simple, easy-to-use, and not nearly as buggy, but Google has once again destroyed the app. As of now, the glitches are endless and the inconvenient layout just makes the experience worse. The playback error issue that won't play your video unless you shut your wifi persists. Visuals desync from the audio and start over from the beginning while the audio continues towards the end of nearly every video, which makes most videos unwatchable without closing the video and launching it again. The age-old issue of video quality randomly dropping has still not been fixed. For some reason, the search bar cuts out, making it impossible to search for something without rebooting the app. The function of going full screen by turning your phone doesn't work the majority of the time, and the controls often lock up while in windowed mode or attempting to check your inconveniently-placed subscriptions. Please, Google, just revert the format and fix all the aforementioned bugs and the numerous ones I had forgot. The majority of these issues have existed for years without any resolve. Also, where the **** is the back button? As for the readers, I strongly don't recommend this app in its current condition. There are a plethora of reasons for such low ratings on such a popular media platform.

This app has something wrong with it. It's not anywhere as good as it used to be. It's like all these updates are ruining the app more than helping it. For one, this app is crashing way more than usual. When I turn my iPod on its side to watch in landscape view, the app usually crashes. Same when turning it to portrait view. It also takes forever for landscape view and portrait view to work, if they work at all. Another thing it loves to do is exit out of the app when my iPod is shut off. Say I'm watching a video, I pause it and power off my iPod to go do something really quick. Then I come back and I'm at my home screen when I turn it back on. This can happen in a very short time. I think the shortest time it took for this to happen was maybe a few seconds. Not only does it take forever to start the app back up, find the video, and wait until it goes back to where I was at in the video (skipping takes to long since the buffering takes way to long and usually ends up in the app crashing) time and time again, but it's very annoying. And transitioning to different videos takes forever, like every other function in the app. Please, just get this fixed! I'm sure there are other people who have this problem, not just me. Please change it back. It was much easier before all these updates. Please!

I'm personally half-and-half on the newest update. I enjoy the multitasking, and how you can physically interact with the video. I'm not a particular fan of the new aesthetics (the new icon and addition of more white and a bit of red in-app), but that's more of a minor complaint. It also seems like a strange move to remove the Back button from the video viewing page, but I guess the people complaining about that somehow missed the short start-up tutorial about the new and simple way to leave a video page. What bugs me is that the problem with blurry videos is STILL not fixed. It seems to happen at random, and it's generally persistent once it starts for a particular video, no matter how many times you refresh it. (For those unaware, the video quality drops to something worse than 240p, and the frame rate drops to about 5-10 fps.) This is the only actual issue I can find with the app that REALLY needs to be fixed/updated. (However, adding in the ability to reply to comments is a good idea, as suggested by another review. If you have to choose between the two, though, PLEASE focus on fixing the quality glitch.) If this glitch actually gets fixed once and for all, you'll have a 5-star app.

I am very unhappy with the new layout. It does not fit my needs. My needs are very simple you have messed with them. You will not be forgiven until I get my old layout back. You know, the layout with the description of the video and the comments in separate columns. That layout gave me joy. That is what I was used to on my IPad. You are not fixing anything with the new layouts. I will now have to get friendly with a new one. It will take time to adapt but I guess I could do it. The problem you should be fixing is the constant reports of the app crashing. You don't need to change how the app looks every once in a while. I would say if you like to make these new layouts allow them to be made, but allow an option to let the user change back to its former layout. Do not take this power like an ad with constant notifications. I do not want it to be like my IPad; it enjoys notifying me whenever I am available to update it. I want the old layout back. It makes me sad. On a side note, you should use better photos for the advertising on the Appstore. They look grainy and make me uncomfortable. I will not thank you for your time because you are not forgiven until you change it back. Also, thanks for letting me write this to go to sleep. I must wake up tomorrow to shave so I can get to my favorite toy as soon as possible. Bye

The new update is not only terribly designed, and hard to navigate, but it's new "functionality" doesn't function well at all. It not only doesn't refresh the video when you leave (which in my terms, helped a lot when the video went blurry), but the new playlist buttons on the screen are (in my opinion) not welcome. When I use these, I happen to tap these icons and go on to the next video in the playlist. It also restarts the video when I switch back, forcing me to find my place if I don't remember. The only way to avoid this if you wish to check your time watched on the video, you have to click the very center of the screen only. Not only this, but where is my button option to add to favorites? And why is the video and/or ad caption removed from the screen? Why did you think this new like button, being much smaller than the first, as well as outside of the video, would be much better? And how does putting the youtuber's name on the bottom instead of the top make it more visible? And what on earth made you think this new system was better? The only good thing you honestly did, was add the video suggestion option in the video page. But even that wasn't necessary, as "What to Watch" allowed much better recommendations. If I didn't have to rate this, I would defiantly give it 0/5 stars. Just don't update it, you're better off.
Unnecessary Changes

I usually never write reviews but the update was so bad that I had to write one. In case you're used to the normal video layout, Google went ahead and changed it again. The pause button is now ON the video screen of where your watching the video. It also dims the screen while pausing/playing and the pause/play button shows every time you tap the screen. This makes it inconvenient for people who would just like to see what time they're at in their video or people who only use one hand to watch. And now the number of likes or dislikes are now shortened to using 'k' for the number or thousands. I don't see why Google is making such a step back from the play button being on the lower left to being where you happened to be looking at what content you are watching, or changing the perfectly fine numbers to be different. The playlist addition to the menu was a nice touch, though. Another thing I don't get is how the top comments work. Usually the first top comment should be the one with the most likes, but for some reason the VERY top comment is a couple scrolls down, but even then, there could be another comment with even more attention that you wouldn't know about. The first top comment usually only has about one or two likes. Overall this app used to be okay, but I'm starting to lose hope in Google "improving" their video service.
Flawed like the web page layout

I have two main problems with this app. First is the channels listed under the Home Feed button. I have no clue what algorithm chooses what channel goes in what order, but it sure is inconvenient. It seem the channels I watch a lot are near the bottom, and the channels that rarely upload anything are near the top. And there's no way to fix this! There in some random order! There not in alphabetical, there not in an order of who uploads the most, there not in order of who has the most activity, I have no clue what it is! And when your subscribed to a lot of youtubers, it's hard to navigate to what channel you want to watch. Secondly, when you click a channel in this list, it immediately shows the activity, instead of the uploads. This is pointless! I want to watch what they upload, not see there latest comment on someone else's video! This shouldn't be pre-selected. And you would think, well just press the show uploads button beside that. Well when you go to another channel, it switches back to the activity section! So there's no way to go down the list of all the people you've subscribed to and quickly check what they've uploaded. Heres what you need to do to fix this app. 1. Have it where I can change who's where on the list of subscription. And 2. Show uploads when you click a users name, instead of showing there activity.

I like what google has done with the recent changes, but I might be the only one from looking at the other reviews. I can't speak problems relating to bugs or crashing as I have experienced neither. It's worth noting that I have an iPhone 5 and therefore am probably using the most compatible device for a new update. I can speak to changes in UI and experience however and this is where the update shines. The back button is basically omitted in this update from what I can tell, but who cares? Now you swipe down to pull a video to the bottom right corner and swipe it left/right to close it. It's one more motion to a closed video than before and it adds minimal time. Also worth noting the video continues playing when swiped down, allowing for picture in picture, a nice unexpected addition. Beyond this the UI has been cleaned up and looks nicer and video playback seems improved. Videos continue to play at a lower quality than desired, but this is nothing new. The one thing missing in my opinion is support for sorting videos by date/length/rating/etc. Unless I missed these features it's an odd omission.
The new update has major issues

This has been the first time I've had major issues with this app. First of all, none of the videos load without selecting the image quality first... This gets annoying very quickly... I noticed this happening recently (pre iOS 8) when I would use AirPlay to stream to my Apple TV but now it's every video on each device every time-- why can't this be adjusted under settings as needed? On top of that, I tried to load a video a few minutes ago and I keep getting playback errors.... I can't get a single video to play at this point. I even restarted my iPad and my wireless router just to make sure it had nothing to do with my internet connection or my device... Also, the checkbox for sharing comments on Google+ doesn't always appear in the new update... However, in this case, the default should be that your comment does NOT get shared on Google+... I replied to a comment on a video a few days ago that was apparently shared on Google+ and I got an email thread of comments a million miles long each time another person replied to the original comment! I was so annoyed that I had to go back and delete my comment-- I honestly wish Google+ would just disappear forever but that's another story... Meanwhile, I hope they come up with a fix for all of these issues soon...

I used to have a big problem with videos randomly dropping in quality, sometimes to completely unwatchable levels, until I realized I could avoid this by turning off auto video quality but I wish I didn't need to go and change from auto to 720p every time I watch a new video (it would be nice to have an option somewhere to choose what quality videos automatically open in or even if the app remembered what you set the last video to play in). Even more annoying is that links now go to the browser instead of opening in app. If I'm watching a video in the app and I click a link to another video or channel I want to continue using the app, not switch to chrome. I like that you can reply to comments now but the commenting is still shotty. You can only reply to an original comment, not to someone's response to a comment, and as other people have said some comments at the beginning of a chain of replies won't show making it difficult to follow a conversation being held in the comments of a video. I did like the design of the app before this last update when it showed how recently a video in your subscriptions was uploaded but small style changes I can get over. Im on an ipad 2 by the way.

From a company like Google, this app is an absolute piece of trash. It has problems with AirPlay, as in it will break and show a "playback error" after buffering for too long, After that will refuse to continue playing any subsequent videos to the Apple TV once the app is switched out of, or the phone is locked until the app is restarted. The next problem is the fact that while the app may look pretty, it organizes information terribly, giving very little in the way of what your subscriptions are putting out. Another problem to do with subscriptions is that it reorders and removes them all the time, with no option to do it manually or disable this "feature". There is no way to organize subscriptions in folders like there is online, and overall the subscription experience is lacking. The final gripe that I have with this app is that it is slow, for no apparent reason the video will not begin to play, nor will any video until the app is restarted. This happens often as well. It's just an overall choppy and unpleasant experience. A lot of this may sound like nit picking, but if you use the app frequently this can make the experience unbearably slow, and besides this is Google, a company that I respect greatly, yet they release this garbage and deserve to be called out on it.

The latest update makes the app's interface look much better and was intended to make it easier for users to search more quickly for their next video. However, there are a few "fixes" which I am not content with. First, on the feeds the videos do not show the number of views that they have accumulated. I must have taken this view counter for granted in the last version because I find myself wanting it back. Secondly, is a 'small' HUD annoyance in playlists. The arrows when watching videos in playlists are very predominant and are placed right in the middle if the screen. I find myself always accidentally hitting these arrows which gets extremely annoying. Lastly, the chat. In the previous version, the chat on videos was very easy to access as there were three tabs of information on each video: the video info, chat, and suggested videos. Now however, you need to click a link to open the chat. One more improvement for chat would be the addition of liking/ disliking. The mobile app has no support for this functionality as there is on a computer. Thank you for spending the time to read my consecutive criticism and I hope actions can be taken to fix these issues.

I loved this app, the only issues I had with the pervious version was the fact that I couldn't see how many likes a comment had and I couldn't reply to comments.. They fixed that in this update and I think they should keep that but I can't freaking watch any videos now because it doesn't seem to load more than 5 seconds of 780p every 10 minutes.... And why the unnecessary of the number of likes into, for example, 1K instead of 1,000? There's no need nor reason for that... And the issue many people don't like, the location of the pause button.. If I wanna pause my video I don't want the pause button smack-dab in the middle of the screen, if I accidentally touch the screen I have to then touch it again to be able to see my video, not to sound selfish and taking stuff for granted but it is inconvenient and that is what you're aiming for, right Google? In the next update, which I'm sure will be very soon, put the pause/play button back where it belongs and remove the unnecessary shortening of the thousands into K, also improve the speed, it's freaking slow on my internet that runs at 10-20MBPS... Last update had no problem streaming with that connection at that quality, thanks in advance for correcting your mistakes

I always come on here after every update to explain my difficulties, so here we go again. The slick/ thin look of the video at the bottom looks nice but it is a total nightmare, I try to rewind and I can't even touch it cause it's so small, so please we need the old one back. Also when I leave the app to check a text the whole video starts at the beginning which aggravates the crap out of me. I liked the old times where it would hold your spot, maybe take you back a few seconds but still it held your spot. I sometimes watch let's plays that are 1-2 hours long and when that happens it drives me insane and even if I leave my room to go to the bathroom and my phone falls asleep it does it. Not cool man not cool. I also really don't like the subscription box, it looks nice but it takes me forever to actually find something cause the icons are so big, what happened to just having us read it ... It was a lot better that way. All in all this is probably the worst update ever, sorry it just is. You guys are now focusing on looks instead of function which NO ONE CARES ABOUT LOOKS! We just want to watch videos that youtubers create. We want to watch art. But we can't if we get a message during a video... Sorry big rant this time ... Probably will be another for the next update so see you later.
What lacks in the new app

Its no question as to how the video gets blurry after awhile in some vids also the sound gets choppy and sounds more bad so if you can please fix that in a new update also with a multitask like the old pre installed app was before i.o.s6 and a fixed loading speed with 3g and 4g when not connected to a internet source so playback errors would not happen alot while someone is in a certain location it would be greatly appreciated by youtubers viewers and so on to be able to do more within the app it would make everyone happy and would have others think twice about how they write new reviews from updates and new features it will make the general population of people who have the app love it more than now with what has been offered in updates and the app itself it will make the app more better than safari if these things were applied and it would waste less time trying to show a video of something funny or music etc… when the app itself has something better to show so please take the time to make the updates and take some time to consider what you can do to make this app turn from a badly reviewed one into a greatly reviewed app
App is terrible

Update new version: Left at 1 star because my chief complaint was crappy video quality and its still there. Cool that they updated for iPhone 5 but the videos still go blurry or stop and load all the time. It's reduculous. It happens with 3G, 4g, LTE and WIFI. It doesn't matter the connection speed. Rarely do I get a video that I can actually see details in. Most are sharp for the first second then go fuzzy. Sometimes I get lucky and get 30 seconds of clear video before it goes out. Previous version Just absolutely horrendous. It's virtually unusable. Half the videos won't load and the ones that do either buffer forever, go to a definition that can equate to trying to open your eyes under water and see or they won't load except for 1 second at a time. I know apple and google are at war, but really, why would you torture the others' customers like this, I believe it's forbidden by the Geneva Convention. Seriously though, if you're going to make an app 1) update it and 2) listen to your customer reviews. I'd like to see this updated for ios6 and iPhone 5. You could also throw is a bone and make it'd UI match what people want. Just read other reviews. Yes I choose an apple device but, come on, I thought google was a better company than to put out a crappy app and not update it.

There are 4 lags that make the app basically worthless and annoying. 1. Randomly when I'm watching a video the quality will go from good to completely blurry and unwatchable. Skipping to other parts of the video to try to fix it can sometimes make the quality even worse! FIX IT! 2. Even when I have 3 bars of wifi, every half a second the video decides it's a "good" idea to waste my time and have it buffer for 5 minutes. Once again, skipping to other parts of the video works for about a second and then it continues to pause every half a second. In fact, it took me about 20 minutes to watch a video 2 minutes long because of this. FIX IT! 3. Whenever I click on a video, even when I have three bars of wifi, a message with some weird looking face comes up that says tap to retry. I end up tapping like 7 times before the video finally starts loading (which takes like 5 minutes btw!) 4. When I'm reading comments on a video and I do that tap to load more comments thing all the comments and suggested videos randomly disappear! Whenever I refresh, it just stays the same! These lags make the app horrible, useless, and annoying. I would rate it zero stars if I could. For whoever is reading this review DONT DOWNLOAD THIS APP! You're better off using Safari.

Hmmm...where to start with the new update? Oh, how about we start with the giant pause button in the middle of the screen. Honestly, what was Google thinking putting that dumb pause/play button directly in the middle of the screen. It covers the video, and it makes the video dim every time you click on the screen. Some people just want to look to see how much time is left to the video. Well, you ruined that Google. Also, the channel pages have been wrecked. Some people spent a lot of time making a cool banner for their viewers to see. Well, Google decided to cover it up with the profile picture. And to add to that, when you scroll down on a channel, it scrolls the banner up, so you can't see it. Wow Google, worst update ever. Plus, I still can't figure out how to reply to comments, because you have to have a stupid Google+ account. I tried getting one, still couldn't reply to any comments. Way to make it harder for the users. So thanks Google for making this worse (if you can't tell I'm being sarcastic) As you can tell, no one like this new update so in the next one, change everything back to it's old layout and you'll get more people to download the app. Please please please fix the annoying new stuff you put in this.

I reviewed this app about a year or two ago, and I definitely needed to address an issue and personal opinions I'm having since the recent update. When I moved the app to see my video in a widescreen view, the video completely cleared out and seconds later the app crashed. This has been the only problem I'm having at the moment, but it's still an annoyance having the app crash and video not play when it's just been updated. Personally, I don't like the layout being on the bottom, I like the "view channels" tab on the of your subscriptions videos, but I ran a lot smoother when the layout of playlists were on the left and side. Another issue/personal opinion I have is with the tabs that used to be above the video. They're completely gone now, and I don't know If this was removed or if mine just isn't showing, but I can't save, share, nor check suggested videos from the one I'm currently watching. I have to go back to the channel I got the video from and save it from there. I hope there will be an update soon because the concept was good, but the functionality of the app seems to have backtracked and accessibility has definitely plummeted...

Why does this app have such a hard time playing videos? I mean that's what it's suppose to do right? I've noticed that each update makes the videos less watchable. Now playback errors are as common as ads(which is very common). I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a playback error within the first minute of the video. And if it's not a playback error it's the video freezing while the audio continues. When this happens you can't just rewind the video a little you have to restart it again which means another 30 second ad...Once you finally get the video to work it's very very very rare that it will stay at 720p because it constantly falls way below that. Some videos will just refuse to play without buffering every 3 seconds. 9/10 videos have a ad and only about two of them allow you to skip them after five seconds so with all the problems I just mentioned you spend most of your time watching ads. Now playlist still only allow you to remove one video at a time which is very annoying if you want to remove multiple videos at a time. I know no one over at Google really cares about these problems but seriously someone needs to fix them.

What the heck??? You want to charge $14 now for a still unfixed app! It's even worse now, it doesn't pop up with my recommended favorites then the advertised ones or vice versa even. Fav list you have to pay for. The video-sound syncing is off now. Rebooting video &/or app if I have to pause for a minute. I can't believe you don't listen to your customers! Please at least give a revision to go from the white/red version back to the red/white! As buggy as that was, it was a dream compared to this! Don't update if you don't have to!!! While you rake in billions or trillions of $$$ why make us pay more??? Is it less buggy? NO! Due to this alone I cancelled this, and anything related to google in any shape or form! Going to join a "you-tube-google" boycott until you at least give us the option of reverting back to more stable versions! And should I need a "tube" fix? I will pay a 1 time 1-3$ fee for an app that allows that to be viewed in an easier format! You'll never get the google+ fee again, nor the $14 fees requested for you tube EVER! I have a working antiquated version on an equally antiquated computer, that I will enjoy all the same without the ads IF I ever decide I need to watch but til then I am joining the google services boycott 4ever!

I loved the update for an hour-- then, and ever since, I've been having continuity problems. Several minutes into any video a varietal playback problem occurs, one of: skipping minutes of the video (this one comes WITH the other problems, always); suddenly blurry quality as though somebody suddenly fogged up a lense and the fog is irremovable; sometime in tandem with previous, but more common an occurrence is the cutting out of sound. This problem can not be fixed by reinstallation, closing out the app and trying again from scratch, nor even a device reboot. It persists, and reoccurs every time I reload any part of any video, and if the video is long enough, one or all of these problems will happen, assuredly, at least a couple of times if I'M persistent. Because of these issues, I have been forced to use the less awesome mobile-version website through another app. My biggest problem is that I can't just continue watching my video! These things happen without fail and I have finally discontinued my use of this app-- please fix this problem, NOBODY would want to have to deal with this. I'm fairly surprised no other reviews are about this, seeing as this is a completely new device and All.

Overall I like the look and the setup and how it's similar to the Facebook app. However, before on the other app, when wi-fi was enabled, the video played in amazing quality. Now the videos stay in a more pixelated quality regardless. It only loads so many comments and if you're looking for one that happened over an hour ago on one like say...the terrible call made during the Greenbay Packers vs. the Seattle Seahawks, then you're screwed. You don't have the ability to click on a user's name from their comment, or better yet, even their comment if you wanted to go to a link they provided. You also cannot like or dislike or really do anything pertaining to any comments made on the video. Does have more such results than the original app, though. There are some videos that only showed up on the desktop version, and if you tried to do this on the phone, it wouldn't work without flash. This app finds that video. For example the OFFICIAL music videos actually show up as the top result for songs on this one. I swear the old one was ONLY the "alternate" results. Just needs some improvement!

I use this app literally every single day! There's nothing wrong with the app besides some videos taking a long time to load here and there, but as you saw in the title, there's one big problem with it! (Or, at least in my opinion anyway.) like I said, some videos will take a while to load, but this is what leads to this big problem most of the time it happens. I use the app for so long during my free time, and after using it for about 45 minutes to an hour or so, the next video says it couldn't load! I always keep hitting the the screen to refresh it, but half a second after, it says the same thing! Sometimes it won't load because I lost Internet connection to my home for some reason, (not sure why that happens), but even when I get back on Internet, it still won't load any videos! The only way I can get it to start working isn't by sliding the page up, but by sliding off, (if you know what I mean), my phone! The only problem with that is the iPhone takes a while to turn back on completely! Please fix this problem! It's driving me insane!!!

1. Scrolling through subscribed channels means going horizontally, which is the shortest side of the phone. Can't see as many in one view unless you click the one tab to open them up in a whole new screen. This is less intuitive, not as convenient as the old way, and an ugly design. 2. User account gets its own page? I don't upload videos like thousands of other users, and this page is a waste. The only thing useful on there is the subscribed playlists. Wait, why is that in my account and not with the other subscriptions? Doesn't make any sense. 3. In the old version you could swipe to the right and pull out a menu/list of everything you need, like all your subscriptions and playlists and settings, and you could scroll through this, while the main focus of the app was on still the videos. It was nice and it felt like an advanced feature that more apps started adopting, seemingly after you introduced it (Facebook for example? Maybe? Can't remember exactly) but it seemed like you had something cool that worked really well, and it was intuitive and quick to use. Now everything takes more steps just to browse and easily see the videos I'm interested in.

I have so many issues with this app and then I see there is an update for it. Awesome! Now my problems will be fixed. NOPE! It did absolutely nothing. What is the point of an update if you don't fix anything? My main issue is that when I watch a video it will be fine until halfway through and then the audio continues but the video starts at the beginning. I pause the video thinking the video just needs to catch up, but it doesn't work. Now I'm pretty much watching the same video but with different audio. I fast forward the video, and it's still back at the beginning but with the audio from later. Also, let's say I am watching a video that is 6:20 long and let's say the audio/video is acting up again. Not only is the video and audio completely off, but now the video is exceeding 6:20! It keeps counting up now. At this point, I don't know what is going on and everything is screwed up. I don't even think you people bother to read these feedbacks. If you did, we wouldn't have issues all the time! Maybe you should take the time to read through the feedback so you can fix what needs to be fixed. These "updates" obviously are not doing anything.

This is an amazing app. I love how user-friendly it is and I also love the layout. But, there are a few things that I believe will help improve this app and increase positive feedback, which in turn will increase downloads. Firstly, I think you should allow users to pause and play videos/audios by using their Apple headset. That way they could quickly pause or play a video/audio more rapidly. Another improvement that people would enjoy is the ability to play videos/audios in the background while navigating in other apps on your iPhone. This would be awesome! Lastly, it will be terrific if you could somehow enable users to scroll through a video/audio at different speed/tuning rates so that they could accurately get to the part of the video/audio that they desire most. With the slight modifications added onto what you already have, I would rate you guys 5 stars. Like I said before you guys did a great job with this app and I know you want it to be greater. I like some of the new features they have added in the update like being able to go back to a previous video but I have a couple of problems with this app. 1. Rewinding is horrible and every time I try to rewind it will pause and then I'll try to play it and it won't play. 2. Replying to comments is a difficult task. 3. It will quit out of the app randomly and when I turn my phone off it'll quit out, watching a video and want to go to full screen and back to normal it'll quit out, buffering it'll quit and I'll lose the video I was watching. And 4. Way to many ads, it'll be an ad on every video, when I can't sleep and I put on some quite relaxing music I turn my volume up and then the add comes on and I freak out and hit myself in the face like 20 times. And to all those people saying 'there's nothing wrong with the app it's just like 2% of people with bad experiences with that app writing reviews' no stop that there's a lot of people with bad experiences with that app just because you didn't have one doesn't mean almost everyone didn't…so shut up
Rough Time

I've not had any chance to review the app until now. I love the app, it's basic functions and all but it's just not what it could be. For one there should be a way to check our inbox for messages or comments so we can be up to date. I know we could use Safari for that on our iPhones, but it would make it so much easier. I've had a problem recently where I click on a video, I change the quality (I have to every time even though I've used the same quality every time) and the video starts loading, as in the gray bar ticks across the bottom of the player, and all the while the video has not started playing. It does this for 1 minute videos where the video has been fully loaded then it won't play for another 20 seconds or so and once it starts playing, the video player acts like it needs to load the rest of the video by the gray bar loading while I'm watching which confuses me as I waited a minute or so thinking it was loading then it just stops and starts the video and starts loading it again. This app needs some bug time adjusting.
Problems with Videos/Quality

The main problem I'm having with this app is that my video will be, say, 9 minutes in, but for some reason, it starts playing the beginning of the video again, though keeping the correct audio for that portion of the video. This happens very often, and it's frustrating. Rewinding doesn't help. All you can do is close out the video and then pull it back up again. Having to do this for about every other video is irritating. Other than that, maybe making rewinding and fast forwarding videos more smooth would be much appreciated. As I just watch videos with this app, I like it very much, and would be happy to give it 5 stars if I could actually watch videos without so many hindrances. Thank you. Actually, I just wanted to add something that I appreciated. I like the "not interested" option on the home screen, because some of the things I'm recommended I am really not interested in, or I have no idea why it was recommended to me because it seems so random/weird/disturbing. So I like that feature, please keep it. Thanks again!

This version is much prettier to look at and operates more like the site itself, making videos easier to find. It's also nice to have videos that don't end themselves when they're over, and more development on checking your subscriptions. However moving to different parts of videos can be difficult at times as the scrubbing bar does not respond. Videos also opt to drop their quality on their own should they fail to load fast enough, which is irritating as I'd rather just wait than stare at a low-FPS blur. And for those that made use of it, this one no longer overtakes the audio channel. That means no more playing videos, then closing the phone and double-tapping the home button to resume them with just audio, which saves battery immensely. I usually used this method to listen to Retsupuraes while at work... not anymore I guess. Overall, a decent app, but would much rather see the return of the old one along side this to give the people an option, or at least feature adaptation of the old app to this one.

I have used this app for quite a while without many problems but recently this app has stopped working almost completely. It freezes up constantly and when I try to play videos, there is a black screen every single time and the video never shows. The audio works sometimes. I have restarted my iPhone, deleted the app, and re-downloaded it but this problem still exists. Even before these problems, if I fast forward or rewind during a video it buffers and freezes and I end up having to exit the app and restart. I have also had an extremely annoying problem where it won't let me lock my iPhone with a video playing. Now I cannot go jogging and listen to music with earphones because it won't let me play it in the background on the lock screen! It used to let me do this and I don't know what happened. The constant freezing and black screen has only been happening in the past week. Everything is up to date and this could be a result of a recent software or app update, I don't know. This problem NEEDS to be fixed!!! I cannot even watch videos anymore.
Almost Broke My Phone

He's how it went ok, I was just searching threw my subscription box and I clicked on a video. It sounds ok right? Nothing wrong at all. Until it took a bit to load and the video popped up and I could only see half of the screen on my phone so I could barely see what I was watching. Then the rest of the screen was completely black. It was very laggy and glitchy and it didn't let me back out of the video or press the home button. Then I tried restarting my phone and that didn't work. So it turned off but it would let me turn my phone back on, nothing was working and my phone was completely off and wouldn't turn on. At this point I didn't know what to do. Just a reminder it's 2:00 in the morning and I'm not going no where. So I tried waiting until my phone died so I can charge it and maybe it will turn back on but no. It ain't happening. So I waited around 15 mins and had to hold the home button and the power button for 15 secs and then it restarted my phone. Now I am happy that I can finally look at my beautiful phone and not a black screen. Surprised you've read this far, but thanks for reading. I just wanted to put this out there.

With every single new update I've watched this stupid app just get worse and worse. Starting off with the small things: suggested channels are completely irrelevant to my interests. If you try to watch one video from a channel, well, then you must want to watch all of them, so now the videos are all part of a playlist which maximizes itself once the the videos you didn't want to watch start. Comments seem to be in no particular order, and sometimes when scrolling through you get stuck in some kind of weird loop where you see the same 10 or so comments over and over. Onto the big things, the app is ridiculously unstable and crashes constantly. On your 'What to Watch' page, they got rid of room for content from the channels you actually enjoy watching so they can shove ads in your face and suggest some Minecraft channels for you to watch. Even if you've never played the game and aren't subbed to any gaming channels. I would definitely recommend this app to people who enjoy watching ads and videos that have nothing to do with their interests, assuming they are actually able to watch them, considering the crashes.

The newest version, 2.7.0, is even worse than I expected it to be. The "bug fixes" this time around involved breaking the search function. Now, instead of a list of ten or so items ghat appear as you type, there are three, which include previous searches no matter what you have typed. Auto-completion of search queries have been removed in favor of filling my feed with channels I don't want to watch. Luckily, however, the app crashes every fifteen minutes, so there is a way to clear the search history. I'm still waiting for the delete playlist button to be on the playlist's menu, not on my channel. Until there's a way to remove unwanted "recommendations" from my feed, I will never know when my friends upload videos. This app was barely functional to begin with, but the navigation and layout is broken so far beyond repair that watching a two-minute video becomes akin to scaling a mountain. Until more emphasis is placed on the videos and less on making the layout as user-unfriendly as possible, this will remain one of the worst apps I've ever used. Just get AdBlock and stick with a computer. At least there you'll have some control.

This app is terrible. It's slow, it crashes, there's no multitasking, weird spot for the play/pause button since new update, no annotations, you can't choose quality on cellular networks, even over LTE which is the same speed as my WI-FI network, and during every video I watch the pixelation happens, ON A 80 MBPS WIFI NETWORK SPEED! Also on the menus it randomly sorts your subscribers so it is hard to find who you are looking for if you have a lot. Also, I really hate the positioning of the forward and back buttons when watching a playlist. I always tap them on accident and it's very annoying. Oh yeah and one last thing, they took out the scroll to top feature so If you were scrolling down to view the comments and want to look back at the description, you have to manually scroll all the way up. This needs a MAJOR update. Just terrible... Why google... Why... EDIT: Hey they released an update with more bugs! Now when you are in the middle of watching a video, the video randomly goes to the beginning and the audio continues. The only way to fix it is to completely close the video and open it again. Great. Thanks for providing more bugs Google.

"Why?" Is my only question. The app was great before. I could be watching a video while scrolling through my subbed channels and look at my history and channel without having to exit an entire video. Who do you think you're impressing? Because whoever it is, you've failed them. The colors are blinding, there's TONS of unneeded space and the overall design is lazy. I could've come up with a better one. The dropdown menu was great, as stated above, and the interface was much more user friendly. I cringe every time I see an update and hope you fix the problems. But no. "Bug fixes" and "full iOS 9 compatibility" is all I get. Don't even get me started on the crashing! I feel like you haven't been to the review section in a while, because your current rating is 1 and a half stars. You went to one of the best apps on the market to one of the worst and I doubt you even care. This has been going on for far too long and you need to listen to us. Change the app back. Make it good again. I'm tired of uninstalling and reinstalling to get the old version back and I'm sure everyone else is, too. So just do everyone a favor and CHANGE IT BACK.
Can see more potential

I would like if this had a history function so if I had to cut a video or two short, then I could go back and watch it. If it does, then it's really out of sight. Also, if it had the ability to view the youtuber's inbox. I'm getting too many spam videos and also respond to messages people send me or comment on their comment. And maybe, the ability to upload videos from the phone. Although better (using the term loosely) than the old built-in app, it needs a few more tweaking. But overall positive aspects is: That I can see ALL the people I'm subscribed to, and not just the hand full that the built-in app gave me (that's big to me). The pull down to update the video feed is needed, I hated having to go back and forth between videos or subscriptions to see new things. It's fairly quick to load up the people's video pages. I'm only having small problems so far, but I'm glad I downloaded this app. Because the iOS 6 update removed the old built-in app for me.

I for one love this app but it's frustrating and very annoying to see video quality degrade like this does. On my iPhone 4S it can go from super clear to where it's useless to even watch a video the way it blurs out which makes NO scenes to me to degrade a video quality to where it renders it useless. I always have to go to safari watch it there instead but much rather watch from the app while it's working right and ultra clear. I've downloaded update after update hoping it's an update to the my particular problem but always for some reason gets ignored. I assume this isn't an isolated issue? Please fix with next update. I can handle a little quality degradation but not when it's so blurry it hurts my eyes to even watch a video and can't make out anything on the video which all it's good for is listening to the sound which btw also goes down in quality but anyway please fix this and I'll give it 10 stars if I had that option but 5 for sure. Thanks

As the title states, Safari does a lot better at showing videos than this. First, the quality for most videos become so terrible that I must change the quality so that it has to work. ALL THE DARN TIME. Second, your history is not fully recorded thus it being difficult finding really old videos you would like to watch again. To add, (even though this isn't just the App) most videos are un viewable because they aren't set to your platform? I understand one or two videos are fine, but when the only black veil brides video you can watch on mobile is the official single video itself while 9000 others aren't, there's a problem. It's not only annoying, but stupid since everyone will see these videos despite what they use. Finally, commenting is the worst to do on my device. Even reading older comments is a hassle! I can reply to some of them, while others, I can just report. Overall, while some good features, most of it is pointless since it's only job is to allow a decent watching experience that can be accomplished on any browser or app.
Needs rewind buttons and background playing

I haven't had many problems with this app. But, whenever I try to rewind a video, I either pass the place I wanted it or it freezes. One thing I would like is to make scrubbing easier or add a rewind button to make going back in a video easier. Another thing I would like added is a "continue playing in background" or "play while locked" option. I like listening to music on the app. But, when I want to lock my phone, it stops the music and I have to keep the app unlocked and open at all times. It's really annoying when I don't want my phone on in my pocket, but I want to listen to music with my headphones. Please make it possible to keep videos and music playing after locking the phone or going into multitasking. It would really help me and a lot of other people who are probably having the same problem. I would rate 4.5, but 4 is all I can currently give. Thank you if you read this review and please consider adding the suggested items to your update list. Then it will be worth a full five stars. UPDATE: The app is wonderful with the 60fps option! Pc gaming videos have never been more clear! But, it's only in 720p and there's a lot of pixelation. If it's possible to add a 1080p with 60fps, that would be fantastic! There's already an app that has a great 1080p option, but not with 60fps. So, only because of the 60fps is why I'm not deleting this app straight off my phone. Please consider updating!

The app if great, the people here are just complaining over features they can do on their own but are complaining over the fact they have to do it themselves, the only problem I have, the ONLY I've ever had, is the fact comments are impossible to reply with because when the screen to rep,y shows up, I can't see what I'm typing and most of the time, if I hit cancel or reply, the app crashes. One thing that needs to be added however if replying to comments that are replies to the main comment. I don't want to reply to the main comment when I want to respond to the reply for the main comment. Just a small thing nothing major. Seriously though, I have no problem with this app whatsoever, if you have a problem with it, then too bad, don't come on here and hate the creators, what if it's your device? Anyways if you are depnding on these "reviews" to make you decide wether downloading the app or not, ignore them and try it out yourself.

I've discovered those problems that you complain about years ago and it's on like 2 third of all Apps, so I came out with a solution. With today hard drive prices keep dropping and the capacity of memory is growing so I bought myself a 3 TERA USB HD, and I back up all my Apps (especially the old ones ), I've discovered that if you open iTunes while holding the shift button you get options like creating a new iTunes library or choosing one of many that you already created, I can creat as many iTunes library's with my choice of names which I usually choose the date as the new iTunes library and place them anywhere I wish just like on my 3 TERA USB HARD DRIVE and this lets me keep all versions of all Apps and in a dated order, it's also good for installing Apps on older devices because as you all know many Apps today won't install unless you upgrade to the latest iOS but older devices won't upgrade any more so it's always good to have a collection of older dated Apps. Hope this will help you guys in the future!
Good, but needs some improvements

I like the way you can minimize the video in a multitasking way! Unfortunately, that seems to be the only improvement. The new interface seems really messy. The description box doesn't load fully, and you have to scroll through the suggested vids in order to get to the comments. And one problem with the comment section is that you can't reply to a specific comment and you can't click and access a commenter's channel. However, the most annoying thing about this app is that there is no back button. In order to go back to your search results, YOU HAVE to minimize the video and pause it if you thought it was annoying. I liked the tabs style, where you can click for either the description box, comments, or suggested video. It was much cleaner. I pretty much wished they added the option to minimize video but kept the old interface the same. Again, way too crowded on an iPod/iPhone, but probably fine on iPad.
Completely terrible layout

This app used to be somewhat well laid out. All of your subscriptions, history, and playlists were on the left. You could easily tap whichever selection you wanted at any time, from anywhere in the app. It wasn't perfect but it mostly worked. Recently Google seems to have totally redesigned the app layout from OK to down right terrible. First, only a small selection of your subscribed channels are visible at one time, and you can only see this selection in a special tab. Which channels are visible in this tab is always changing randomly. Secondly, you have to tap on each channel and wait for a new page to load before you can see the channel. If you want to see the other channels, you have to hit the back button and wait for the list to load again. There's no easy way to get back to this main list either. If you've followed several suggested links, you have to hit the back button many many times to get back to your main list. Lastly, your playlists and history are on a totally different tab. This new layout is a nightmare to navigate. Whoever thought of this new design, should be fired.

I agree with BermudaSam's assessment of the forced AutoPlay setting. I prefer to choose what I watch next without your suggestion. Please put the switch back so I can turn this off. And when you have a feature like this in place don't remove it in future updates. This is annoying and only makes me want to turn somewhere else for entertainment.

Tell me who in Google HQ actually enjoys Autoplay. Then tell me how many people there hate this feature. Now have the people in the second group round up the handful in the first group and toss them on their necks. Autoplay is already a known menace in the browser version. No one needs it. No one asked for it. It's not innovation if it's just additional trash. Worst of all, the next video in the queue is most likely completely unrelated and definitely not what I'm looking for. For hell's sake, please don't fix what isn't broken. The original "show related videos" screen was great. The replay button was good. This autoplay isn't either.

I've told you my feedback on YouTube and made reviews,but you don't seem to listen to what any of us have to say. This app is like your project for science class that has a deadline in 1 month.What do you do during that time? For you guys,you'd probably not do anything.And then when that time comes to turn it in,you've done nothing so you turn in a paragraph with words that are impossible to read.So you get an F. On the overall grade of the class. Congratulations. When I read that these updates were intentional,I was shocked. Why would you attempt to ruin something that millions of people flock to for entertainment? Are you trying to make yourselves look bad? Or do you want us to have the least enjoyable experience you can ever have in terms of a mobile device? Either way,stop all these shenanigans and actually make a good update! What really gets me now is the video template (watching a video,pausing it,and an autoplay button with two arrows on the opposite sides of the video are very irritating),and the increased video size for the recommendations! At least in the older update,the videos you could see in the recommendations were a good and small size and you can scroll more easily to find the video you wanted. Now,they're huge,and it's extremely difficult to scroll down! The recommendations are terrible,and you still forgot about the bug that makes a video you are not interested in not go away,no matter how many times you "deleted it from the recommendations ",it will still show up!! You guys seriously don't care about nothing but money.If that's the case;why do I bother telling you these problems? The new updates are downgrades. I dislike the constant streaming of videos. It runs down my battery and does not allow me to control when I choose to view the videos. Also now I'm not able to see related videos except for the few limited. If I wish to continue my search, I have to return to the home screen to videos I just do not care about and suggestions I'd rather not have. The new home screen large thumbnail is less than desirable. Additionally, it's annoying not to able to read the entire... If you see a star it is there only because I was forced to give it. 👎👎👎👎👎

First of all, I can't watch any live streams without it cutting out on me every 5 seconds when using the app only. And now, you add autoplay after every video and put arrows on the video. I can't even finish a video without accidentally clicking on the arrow and I have to start the video all over again (and usually sit through another add) I use to like YouTube. Now.. Not so much.

So I adore YouTube, YouTube is my life. But currently the mobile version has decided to get Autoplay and I can't stand it. I know that you can turn it off and I have but now the videos stay in full screen after they finish playing and there is a next button which just gets in my way. I want it gone, get rid of it. Or at least make an option to get COMPLETELY rid of it, so that those people who actually like Autoplay can use it and those who don't don't have to deal with it.

The new update is very inefficient, annoying, and just plain pointless. The only difference is the display of the videos, and it's really bad. They're too big, don't allow to see the channel, and aren't organized like before. The "watch it again" and uploads from other YouTube channels don't show up. It's unorganized, too large, and just a plain mess. Updates are mandatory, but a redesign for every update isn't required, especially when it's just a messy downgrade. Updated again: Now YouTube has literally NO ROOM for me to tap a video without it skipping to another video ahead or behind, and is constantly on some kind of playlist, despite me having auto play turned off. YouTube is no longer allowing personalization it seems, and is just forcing useless crap onto people. YouTube, please just return back to the update before all this, that was organized, simple, and not forcing too much useless crap onto people that they don't want. And please, just leave it that way for a bit until you guys can actually come up with something BENEFICIAL, rather than lacking, useless, and a downgrade in general. This is coming from someone that tends to often understand everything and the reasons behind those things. But this? It's pointless and just stupid. Please do something about it. Thank-You.

In my opinion this is false advertisement I mean not literally, but 99.9% of the time it says play back error tap again to retry. It actually errors more then it plays. This app is obviously nothing to plan on watching a movie or any video at all. Highly recommend no one to even waste time downloading this trash. And honestly it don't even deserve any ratings because it should be removed from the the App Store. And I'm not finished. obviously the playback error was a feature added so u can switch to YouTube red... I love this app and I'm always on YouTube, but there are a couple things that are making the experience less enjoyable. First of all, the new update with autoplay is very annoying. I have turned off autoplay, but whenever I click a video, there are still the buttons next to the pause button that you click to go to the next video. I keep accidentally clicking them and having my video interrupted. Please take away these buttons when autoplay is disabled!! Also, on the old interface I liked that I could swipe to the right and automatically have a menu with a "your channel" option. Now I have to click back through everything I've searched until I get back to the main menu with my channel so I can go on it. Please add the side menu again! Thank you for considering my review. 😄

The newest update on the IOS YouTube app has added a plethora of new features; most of them I do not approve of. One of the new features is the auto play function and the arrows on each side of the screen to go to the next video. This new feature is very inconvenient because the arrows cover too much of the screen and are very easily accidentally clickable. This causes the user to go to the next video even when they don not want to. The second useless and annoying feature added is the screen getting darker and eventually turning off. The arrows on the screen caused a mild problem, but this screen thing is a MAJOR inconvenience. Many times, I like to watch a video while I do some work, so I have to set down the iPhone in order to actually do the work. But, now I can't do this because the screen gets darker and turns off if you leave it alone for too long ,(even when a video is playing). This is inconvenient because if someone is watching a cooking tutorial on YouTube and they have their hands full, they will not be able to tap the screen every fifteen seconds to keep it up. These are my main two complaints about the app. It was fine before this useless new update. I strongly urge the app developers to change it back to the way it used to be where there are no arrows on the screen, and you don't have to tap the screen every few seconds.

You guys used to have a good app but in the past year or so, every update makes the app worse. This new update changes a few little things that I'm fine with, but why do the videos play automatically when the video you just watched is over? It used to only do that in playlists. If I want to watch one video and look at the comment section afterwards then let me do that please instead of rushing me to watch the next video that I don't even want to watch... I just try to look in the comment section while the vid is almost over but then it skips to the next video? Can you not? Can I look at the comment section or do I have to literally pause the video every time I want to comment or look at the comments. At least make it optional in the settings because this feature is so annoying. Ugh I've written so many YouTube reviews because there is always a problem.

I really dislike how things are forever in that playlist mode, and the touch little blip when you poke the video. As well with the smaller screen time bar. I can't scroll back to the beginning. 1. The Circle Video Length: On mobile, it's first of all, so sensitive. I moved the circle and it skipped from 0:00 to 2:55 (25 min vid). Second, it's hard to drag the circle back to the beginning of the video. 2. History videos now not showing: I go to the history, and there aren't any videos. YouTube red is the biggest scam in the world. I shouldn't have to pay to be able to keep a video playing when I leave the screen. What if I want to listen to a song and read something? It's lacking in some features that are on computers. Such as certain video editing options or the ability to change the speed of videos. But the worst part has to be the missing annotations. Besides the massive lack of features, this app is actually pretty good (at least it's better than the Google+ app), and I'd recommend it to people that don't have access to a computer, or are like me and want to watch videos in their beds. Other than that, this app is a complete downgrade.

In fact this is the first review I've made in years. But seriously, the update is horrible. The home screen thumbnails are way too big and take up the whole screen. The new 'Autoplay' feature is terrible, please make it so if we have to have autoplay, there's not the "previous video" and "next video" buttons on the screen. If I'm in the middle of a video and I accidentally happen to tap one of those buttons, it takes me away from the video I was just watching and to whatever's up next on autoplay. Which means I have to go back to what I was just watching, wait for the ad to finish, and then skip to where I was in the video. It's such a headache JFC FIX YOUR SH*TTY APP

I have an iPhone 4s (old I know) but the YouTube app is updated to the latest version and I'm seeing some issues? The subscription box and the comments are not showing up at all. Have other people experienced this? Please answer :) -confused

I don't like Autoplay, as I'm someone who knows what I want to watch and don't need YouTube/Google algorithms to inaccurately tell me what I want to watch. Now this wouldn't be so bad, EXCEPT for the fact that I cannot disable this feature like I can on the PC, which is so frustrating. I can't let a video finish without being forced to get rid of it so as to not watch a video I've already seen or another I have no desire to see or hear. I get that this is a free platform and Google does whatever the hell it wants, but boy I could use a little bit more intuition here. Having to start with the "trending page" when opening the app or site and then immediately having to switch to my subscriptions is already bad enough, but this is just another design flaw in this Leaning Tower of Pisa app. It's still working, but not with the best design and foresight invested prior to execution of these diminishing updates.
Put it out of its misery.

Lately YouTube has been really weird when it comes to updates. As a person who watches at least one video everyday, this influences me a lot. Occasionally, I'll get a new feature without updating the app(yes I checked and made sure it didn't update automatically). For instance, I was able to click annotations on mobile. I was okay with this though, it wasn't a huge problem. But now, one of my friends has access to an autoplay button and I don't(both on mobile). Why? Not only that but the new home tab is awful. I hate how large the thumbnails are and how unorganized it is. QUIT TRYING TO MAKE THE INTERFACE BETTER. Literally EVERY time you've changed it, there's been an overwhelming amount id complaints. The app is in serious need of fixing.

Every time I rewind it to 0:00 it goes super fast! So please fix that and when you update YouTube so it doesn't do that again but when you update it please let it be for iPad/iPhone version 5.1.1 because my iPad version is 5.1.1.When I am in full screen it makes me not able to get OUT!!

I overall enjoy this app, it's useful for watching your videos daily. But there is one issue that is seriously bothering me now. I know I already posted a review, well now I have a new one. I am very annoyed by the fact that when I close off my phone for the day and reopen I see that my YouTube has automatically updated. That's an issue because I am not enjoying these new updates, they are literally useless and making my time on YouTube more difficult than it actually needs to be. And the fact that I don't even have a choice now to update or not is unfair and should not be allowed. I would not only appreciate that you changed that, but also make the old version without all of this changed homepage and automatic play button available. Thank you

I don't know why people are saying that it keeps on crashing... It works on my iPad PERFECTLY! I think you guys just need to update your mobile device.... I updated my iPad to the latest version of iOS not to long ago, and since then I've had ABSOLUTELY NO trouble at all!!! Anyways, the updates is just wonderful! I love the new feature where you can search for videos and watching another video. And I noticed that you can FINALLY play playlists!!! Yay!! I made a private playlist for all my favorite songs so it's nice to not have to click EVERY time I have to switch it to the next song. But I also noticed you guys still haven't added a feature where you can edit your channel on your mobile device or check your inbox. I know you can just go to Safari or the web to check your inbox but it would be a WHOLE lot faster if it was just on the app. And I found out you CAN edit your channel on your mobile device. I guess I've never noticed (or was it there before?) there's a button where it says: "Switch to desktop" (I think??) and it turns into the layout you would have if you were on your PC which is so cool! THANKS GUYS! Overall, I just adore this new update! There's so improvements to be made but I understand you guys are trying your hardest! Thanks again, don't listen to the bad reviews, and I look forward to new updates!!!
Crashing and commenting problems!!

Crashes once and a while! And when I comment after 2 comments I comment another one it SAYS ERROR TO LOAD MESSAGE!!!!! I EVEN REBOOT THE APP and the same thing happens!!!! Please fix the comment problem not being able to post more than 2-3 comments!!!! And the same thing kinda happens on the computer version but I usually have to type the word shown up top and it will post the comment! But the app version it has a error!!!!!!! And fix the video quality! Many times the video will get blurry after a while and it takes me 2-3 times turning my I pod to sleep mode and going back to the app and then it usually clears up... And I want to be able to see the subscribers that subscribe your channel if you had one cause I have a channel and I go to uploads but it doesn't go to my main channel page I have to search up my name click on one of my video and click on my name to see the main channel! If I click uploads it shows a list of all of the videos you uploaded! If you don't know what I mean then... I tell you... It doesn't show my channel art when I click uploads and I have to search up my name and click in my name to see the main channel page where I can see my profile picture and channel art...I want to be able to see who subscribed my channel from my I pod and to be able to like videos! I know I'm typing a lot in this review but this is all I have to say so can you please fix the problems! Thanks!

I love the app, and i love all of the channels I am subscribed to and there content. However, when I go to a youtubers channel to see their list of videos on my ios it is just a blank screen. Sometimes I do not have time to watch all the videos in my sub box so later I would go to the individuals channel and look at their most recent videos to enjoy them. But just recently, for ios, it wont load, it doesnt say it cant load it is just blank, so i go to the channels home page, but not always are their most recent videos up in there. And if you still are unaware of the slight but bothering problem, when you click on a channel of anyone it loads everything just fine except the category that says VIDEOS. There are five categories on the ios the first being home, then videos, playlists, channels, then about. The videos category shows the most recent videos, but wont load. Have to go to the home everytime to watch the newest video. And it wouldnt be a problem except it sometimes only has the some of the new videos. But for the most part if i cant find it in my sub box then i can find the newest video from 6 months ago on the individuals channel. Thank you for reading, and please I would love for this to get fixed soon, and im glad that the playlist deletion glick that doesnt get deleted got fixed.

The old one is much more better. This one does nothing but buffering 24/7 making me take an hour just to watch a five minute video. You actually consider this a product when it barley works?! Considering my homes internet connection already isn't the most fast this app video download speed is often slow bull and I (and other people) "general errors". Based off the look of this I don't have a feeling this won't be fixed for a long while. Another problem is that if you close the app (like remove it from the active apps) the video you were watching goes into your history and you have to watch it all over again unlike the old apps where it just keeps going if you do that. This needs a direct link to the main menu to get back to the front page since I'd rather not press the back button over and over again. And I highly doubt I could watch it over again if it takes a eternity for the video to skip to where I wanted it to. Another slowness problem is that after waiting awhile while the video buffers is that sometimes it jumps you back to the beginning of the video. All the anti-buffering techniques hardly work (like turning wi-fi or your device on and off) unlike the old app where it usually worked. The only good out of this that I can watch music videos now but we have VEVO app for that. Overall a ruined app from iOS 6 and slow overall.
Buggy, inconvenient mess

Somehow, someway, this app has just gotten worse and worse with each update. The last interface we were provided with was simple, easy-to-use, and not nearly as buggy, but Google has once again destroyed the app. As of now, the glitches are endless and the inconvenient layout just makes the experience worse. The playback error issue that won't play your video unless you shut your wifi persists. Visuals desync from the audio and start over from the beginning while the audio continues towards the end of nearly every video, which makes most videos unwatchable without closing the video and launching it again. The age-old issue of video quality randomly dropping has still not been fixed. For some reason, the search bar cuts out, making it impossible to search for something without rebooting the app. The function of going full screen by turning your phone doesn't work the majority of the time, and the controls often lock up while in windowed mode or attempting to check your inconveniently-placed subscriptions. Please, Google, just revert the format and fix all the aforementioned bugs and the numerous ones I had forgot. The majority of these issues have existed for years without any resolve. Also, where the **** is the back button? As for the readers, I strongly don't recommend this app in its current condition. There are a plethora of reasons for such low ratings on such a popular media platform.

This app has something wrong with it. It's not anywhere as good as it used to be. It's like all these updates are ruining the app more than helping it. For one, this app is crashing way more than usual. When I turn my iPod on its side to watch in landscape view, the app usually crashes. Same when turning it to portrait view. It also takes forever for landscape view and portrait view to work, if they work at all. Another thing it loves to do is exit out of the app when my iPod is shut off. Say I'm watching a video, I pause it and power off my iPod to go do something really quick. Then I come back and I'm at my home screen when I turn it back on. This can happen in a very short time. I think the shortest time it took for this to happen was maybe a few seconds. Not only does it take forever to start the app back up, find the video, and wait until it goes back to where I was at in the video (skipping takes to long since the buffering takes way to long and usually ends up in the app crashing) time and time again, but it's very annoying. And transitioning to different videos takes forever, like every other function in the app. Please, just get this fixed! I'm sure there are other people who have this problem, not just me. Please change it back. It was much easier before all these updates. Please!

I'm personally half-and-half on the newest update. I enjoy the multitasking, and how you can physically interact with the video. I'm not a particular fan of the new aesthetics (the new icon and addition of more white and a bit of red in-app), but that's more of a minor complaint. It also seems like a strange move to remove the Back button from the video viewing page, but I guess the people complaining about that somehow missed the short start-up tutorial about the new and simple way to leave a video page. What bugs me is that the problem with blurry videos is STILL not fixed. It seems to happen at random, and it's generally persistent once it starts for a particular video, no matter how many times you refresh it. (For those unaware, the video quality drops to something worse than 240p, and the frame rate drops to about 5-10 fps.) This is the only actual issue I can find with the app that REALLY needs to be fixed/updated. (However, adding in the ability to reply to comments is a good idea, as suggested by another review. If you have to choose between the two, though, PLEASE focus on fixing the quality glitch.) If this glitch actually gets fixed once and for all, you'll have a 5-star app.

I am very unhappy with the new layout. It does not fit my needs. My needs are very simple you have messed with them. You will not be forgiven until I get my old layout back. You know, the layout with the description of the video and the comments in separate columns. That layout gave me joy. That is what I was used to on my IPad. You are not fixing anything with the new layouts. I will now have to get friendly with a new one. It will take time to adapt but I guess I could do it. The problem you should be fixing is the constant reports of the app crashing. You don't need to change how the app looks every once in a while. I would say if you like to make these new layouts allow them to be made, but allow an option to let the user change back to its former layout. Do not take this power like an ad with constant notifications. I do not want it to be like my IPad; it enjoys notifying me whenever I am available to update it. I want the old layout back. It makes me sad. On a side note, you should use better photos for the advertising on the Appstore. They look grainy and make me uncomfortable. I will not thank you for your time because you are not forgiven until you change it back. Also, thanks for letting me write this to go to sleep. I must wake up tomorrow to shave so I can get to my favorite toy as soon as possible. Bye

The new update is not only terribly designed, and hard to navigate, but it's new "functionality" doesn't function well at all. It not only doesn't refresh the video when you leave (which in my terms, helped a lot when the video went blurry), but the new playlist buttons on the screen are (in my opinion) not welcome. When I use these, I happen to tap these icons and go on to the next video in the playlist. It also restarts the video when I switch back, forcing me to find my place if I don't remember. The only way to avoid this if you wish to check your time watched on the video, you have to click the very center of the screen only. Not only this, but where is my button option to add to favorites? And why is the video and/or ad caption removed from the screen? Why did you think this new like button, being much smaller than the first, as well as outside of the video, would be much better? And how does putting the youtuber's name on the bottom instead of the top make it more visible? And what on earth made you think this new system was better? The only good thing you honestly did, was add the video suggestion option in the video page. But even that wasn't necessary, as "What to Watch" allowed much better recommendations. If I didn't have to rate this, I would defiantly give it 0/5 stars. Just don't update it, you're better off.
Unnecessary Changes

I usually never write reviews but the update was so bad that I had to write one. In case you're used to the normal video layout, Google went ahead and changed it again. The pause button is now ON the video screen of where your watching the video. It also dims the screen while pausing/playing and the pause/play button shows every time you tap the screen. This makes it inconvenient for people who would just like to see what time they're at in their video or people who only use one hand to watch. And now the number of likes or dislikes are now shortened to using 'k' for the number or thousands. I don't see why Google is making such a step back from the play button being on the lower left to being where you happened to be looking at what content you are watching, or changing the perfectly fine numbers to be different. The playlist addition to the menu was a nice touch, though. Another thing I don't get is how the top comments work. Usually the first top comment should be the one with the most likes, but for some reason the VERY top comment is a couple scrolls down, but even then, there could be another comment with even more attention that you wouldn't know about. The first top comment usually only has about one or two likes. Overall this app used to be okay, but I'm starting to lose hope in Google "improving" their video service.
Flawed like the web page layout

I have two main problems with this app. First is the channels listed under the Home Feed button. I have no clue what algorithm chooses what channel goes in what order, but it sure is inconvenient. It seem the channels I watch a lot are near the bottom, and the channels that rarely upload anything are near the top. And there's no way to fix this! There in some random order! There not in alphabetical, there not in an order of who uploads the most, there not in order of who has the most activity, I have no clue what it is! And when your subscribed to a lot of youtubers, it's hard to navigate to what channel you want to watch. Secondly, when you click a channel in this list, it immediately shows the activity, instead of the uploads. This is pointless! I want to watch what they upload, not see there latest comment on someone else's video! This shouldn't be pre-selected. And you would think, well just press the show uploads button beside that. Well when you go to another channel, it switches back to the activity section! So there's no way to go down the list of all the people you've subscribed to and quickly check what they've uploaded. Heres what you need to do to fix this app. 1. Have it where I can change who's where on the list of subscription. And 2. Show uploads when you click a users name, instead of showing there activity.
An unpopular opinion, apparently

I like what google has done with the recent changes, but I might be the only one from looking at the other reviews. I can't speak problems relating to bugs or crashing as I have experienced neither. It's worth noting that I have an iPhone 5 and therefore am probably using the most compatible device for a new update. I can speak to changes in UI and experience however and this is where the update shines. The back button is basically omitted in this update from what I can tell, but who cares? Now you swipe down to pull a video to the bottom right corner and swipe it left/right to close it. It's one more motion to a closed video than before and it adds minimal time. Also worth noting the video continues playing when swiped down, allowing for picture in picture, a nice unexpected addition. Beyond this the UI has been cleaned up and looks nicer and video playback seems improved. Videos continue to play at a lower quality than desired, but this is nothing new. The one thing missing in my opinion is support for sorting videos by date/length/rating/etc. Unless I missed these features it's an odd omission.
The new update has major issues

This has been the first time I've had major issues with this app. First of all, none of the videos load without selecting the image quality first... This gets annoying very quickly... I noticed this happening recently (pre iOS 8) when I would use AirPlay to stream to my Apple TV but now it's every video on each device every time-- why can't this be adjusted under settings as needed? On top of that, I tried to load a video a few minutes ago and I keep getting playback errors.... I can't get a single video to play at this point. I even restarted my iPad and my wireless router just to make sure it had nothing to do with my internet connection or my device... Also, the checkbox for sharing comments on Google+ doesn't always appear in the new update... However, in this case, the default should be that your comment does NOT get shared on Google+... I replied to a comment on a video a few days ago that was apparently shared on Google+ and I got an email thread of comments a million miles long each time another person replied to the original comment! I was so annoyed that I had to go back and delete my comment-- I honestly wish Google+ would just disappear forever but that's another story... Meanwhile, I hope they come up with a fix for all of these issues soon...

I used to have a big problem with videos randomly dropping in quality, sometimes to completely unwatchable levels, until I realized I could avoid this by turning off auto video quality but I wish I didn't need to go and change from auto to 720p every time I watch a new video (it would be nice to have an option somewhere to choose what quality videos automatically open in or even if the app remembered what you set the last video to play in). Even more annoying is that links now go to the browser instead of opening in app. If I'm watching a video in the app and I click a link to another video or channel I want to continue using the app, not switch to chrome. I like that you can reply to comments now but the commenting is still shotty. You can only reply to an original comment, not to someone's response to a comment, and as other people have said some comments at the beginning of a chain of replies won't show making it difficult to follow a conversation being held in the comments of a video. I did like the design of the app before this last update when it showed how recently a video in your subscriptions was uploaded but small style changes I can get over. Im on an ipad 2 by the way.

From a company like Google, this app is an absolute piece of trash. It has problems with AirPlay, as in it will break and show a "playback error" after buffering for too long, After that will refuse to continue playing any subsequent videos to the Apple TV once the app is switched out of, or the phone is locked until the app is restarted. The next problem is the fact that while the app may look pretty, it organizes information terribly, giving very little in the way of what your subscriptions are putting out. Another problem to do with subscriptions is that it reorders and removes them all the time, with no option to do it manually or disable this "feature". There is no way to organize subscriptions in folders like there is online, and overall the subscription experience is lacking. The final gripe that I have with this app is that it is slow, for no apparent reason the video will not begin to play, nor will any video until the app is restarted. This happens often as well. It's just an overall choppy and unpleasant experience. A lot of this may sound like nit picking, but if you use the app frequently this can make the experience unbearably slow, and besides this is Google, a company that I respect greatly, yet they release this garbage and deserve to be called out on it.

The latest update makes the app's interface look much better and was intended to make it easier for users to search more quickly for their next video. However, there are a few "fixes" which I am not content with. First, on the feeds the videos do not show the number of views that they have accumulated. I must have taken this view counter for granted in the last version because I find myself wanting it back. Secondly, is a 'small' HUD annoyance in playlists. The arrows when watching videos in playlists are very predominant and are placed right in the middle if the screen. I find myself always accidentally hitting these arrows which gets extremely annoying. Lastly, the chat. In the previous version, the chat on videos was very easy to access as there were three tabs of information on each video: the video info, chat, and suggested videos. Now however, you need to click a link to open the chat. One more improvement for chat would be the addition of liking/ disliking. The mobile app has no support for this functionality as there is on a computer. Thank you for spending the time to read my consecutive criticism and I hope actions can be taken to fix these issues.

I loved this app, the only issues I had with the pervious version was the fact that I couldn't see how many likes a comment had and I couldn't reply to comments.. They fixed that in this update and I think they should keep that but I can't freaking watch any videos now because it doesn't seem to load more than 5 seconds of 780p every 10 minutes.... And why the unnecessary of the number of likes into, for example, 1K instead of 1,000? There's no need nor reason for that... And the issue many people don't like, the location of the pause button.. If I wanna pause my video I don't want the pause button smack-dab in the middle of the screen, if I accidentally touch the screen I have to then touch it again to be able to see my video, not to sound selfish and taking stuff for granted but it is inconvenient and that is what you're aiming for, right Google? In the next update, which I'm sure will be very soon, put the pause/play button back where it belongs and remove the unnecessary shortening of the thousands into K, also improve the speed, it's freaking slow on my internet that runs at 10-20MBPS... Last update had no problem streaming with that connection at that quality, thanks in advance for correcting your mistakes

I always come on here after every update to explain my difficulties, so here we go again. The slick/ thin look of the video at the bottom looks nice but it is a total nightmare, I try to rewind and I can't even touch it cause it's so small, so please we need the old one back. Also when I leave the app to check a text the whole video starts at the beginning which aggravates the crap out of me. I liked the old times where it would hold your spot, maybe take you back a few seconds but still it held your spot. I sometimes watch let's plays that are 1-2 hours long and when that happens it drives me insane and even if I leave my room to go to the bathroom and my phone falls asleep it does it. Not cool man not cool. I also really don't like the subscription box, it looks nice but it takes me forever to actually find something cause the icons are so big, what happened to just having us read it ... It was a lot better that way. All in all this is probably the worst update ever, sorry it just is. You guys are now focusing on looks instead of function which NO ONE CARES ABOUT LOOKS! We just want to watch videos that youtubers create. We want to watch art. But we can't if we get a message during a video... Sorry big rant this time ... Probably will be another for the next update so see you later.

Its no question as to how the video gets blurry after awhile in some vids also the sound gets choppy and sounds more bad so if you can please fix that in a new update also with a multitask like the old pre installed app was before i.o.s6 and a fixed loading speed with 3g and 4g when not connected to a internet source so playback errors would not happen alot while someone is in a certain location it would be greatly appreciated by youtubers viewers and so on to be able to do more within the app it would make everyone happy and would have others think twice about how they write new reviews from updates and new features it will make the general population of people who have the app love it more than now with what has been offered in updates and the app itself it will make the app more better than safari if these things were applied and it would waste less time trying to show a video of something funny or music etc… when the app itself has something better to show so please take the time to make the updates and take some time to consider what you can do to make this app turn from a badly reviewed one into a greatly reviewed app
App is terrible

Update new version: Left at 1 star because my chief complaint was crappy video quality and its still there. Cool that they updated for iPhone 5 but the videos still go blurry or stop and load all the time. It's reduculous. It happens with 3G, 4g, LTE and WIFI. It doesn't matter the connection speed. Rarely do I get a video that I can actually see details in. Most are sharp for the first second then go fuzzy. Sometimes I get lucky and get 30 seconds of clear video before it goes out. Previous version Just absolutely horrendous. It's virtually unusable. Half the videos won't load and the ones that do either buffer forever, go to a definition that can equate to trying to open your eyes under water and see or they won't load except for 1 second at a time. I know apple and google are at war, but really, why would you torture the others' customers like this, I believe it's forbidden by the Geneva Convention. Seriously though, if you're going to make an app 1) update it and 2) listen to your customer reviews. I'd like to see this updated for ios6 and iPhone 5. You could also throw is a bone and make it'd UI match what people want. Just read other reviews. Yes I choose an apple device but, come on, I thought google was a better company than to put out a crappy app and not update it.

There are 4 lags that make the app basically worthless and annoying. 1. Randomly when I'm watching a video the quality will go from good to completely blurry and unwatchable. Skipping to other parts of the video to try to fix it can sometimes make the quality even worse! FIX IT! 2. Even when I have 3 bars of wifi, every half a second the video decides it's a "good" idea to waste my time and have it buffer for 5 minutes. Once again, skipping to other parts of the video works for about a second and then it continues to pause every half a second. In fact, it took me about 20 minutes to watch a video 2 minutes long because of this. FIX IT! 3. Whenever I click on a video, even when I have three bars of wifi, a message with some weird looking face comes up that says tap to retry. I end up tapping like 7 times before the video finally starts loading (which takes like 5 minutes btw!) 4. When I'm reading comments on a video and I do that tap to load more comments thing all the comments and suggested videos randomly disappear! Whenever I refresh, it just stays the same! These lags make the app horrible, useless, and annoying. I would rate it zero stars if I could. For whoever is reading this review DONT DOWNLOAD THIS APP! You're better off using Safari.

Hmmm...where to start with the new update? Oh, how about we start with the giant pause button in the middle of the screen. Honestly, what was Google thinking putting that dumb pause/play button directly in the middle of the screen. It covers the video, and it makes the video dim every time you click on the screen. Some people just want to look to see how much time is left to the video. Well, you ruined that Google. Also, the channel pages have been wrecked. Some people spent a lot of time making a cool banner for their viewers to see. Well, Google decided to cover it up with the profile picture. And to add to that, when you scroll down on a channel, it scrolls the banner up, so you can't see it. Wow Google, worst update ever. Plus, I still can't figure out how to reply to comments, because you have to have a stupid Google+ account. I tried getting one, still couldn't reply to any comments. Way to make it harder for the users. So thanks Google for making this worse (if you can't tell I'm being sarcastic) As you can tell, no one like this new update so in the next one, change everything back to it's old layout and you'll get more people to download the app. Please please please fix the annoying new stuff you put in this.

I reviewed this app about a year or two ago, and I definitely needed to address an issue and personal opinions I'm having since the recent update. When I moved the app to see my video in a widescreen view, the video completely cleared out and seconds later the app crashed. This has been the only problem I'm having at the moment, but it's still an annoyance having the app crash and video not play when it's just been updated. Personally, I don't like the layout being on the bottom, I like the "view channels" tab on the of your subscriptions videos, but I ran a lot smoother when the layout of playlists were on the left and side. Another issue/personal opinion I have is with the tabs that used to be above the video. They're completely gone now, and I don't know If this was removed or if mine just isn't showing, but I can't save, share, nor check suggested videos from the one I'm currently watching. I have to go back to the channel I got the video from and save it from there. I hope there will be an update soon because the concept was good, but the functionality of the app seems to have backtracked and accessibility has definitely plummeted...

Why does this app have such a hard time playing videos? I mean that's what it's suppose to do right? I've noticed that each update makes the videos less watchable. Now playback errors are as common as ads(which is very common). I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a playback error within the first minute of the video. And if it's not a playback error it's the video freezing while the audio continues. When this happens you can't just rewind the video a little you have to restart it again which means another 30 second ad...Once you finally get the video to work it's very very very rare that it will stay at 720p because it constantly falls way below that. Some videos will just refuse to play without buffering every 3 seconds. 9/10 videos have a ad and only about two of them allow you to skip them after five seconds so with all the problems I just mentioned you spend most of your time watching ads. Now playlist still only allow you to remove one video at a time which is very annoying if you want to remove multiple videos at a time. I know no one over at Google really cares about these problems but seriously someone needs to fix them.

What the heck??? You want to charge $14 now for a still unfixed app! It's even worse now, it doesn't pop up with my recommended favorites then the advertised ones or vice versa even. Fav list you have to pay for. The video-sound syncing is off now. Rebooting video &/or app if I have to pause for a minute. I can't believe you don't listen to your customers! Please at least give a revision to go from the white/red version back to the red/white! As buggy as that was, it was a dream compared to this! Don't update if you don't have to!!! While you rake in billions or trillions of $$$ why make us pay more??? Is it less buggy? NO! Due to this alone I cancelled this, and anything related to google in any shape or form! Going to join a "you-tube-google" boycott until you at least give us the option of reverting back to more stable versions! And should I need a "tube" fix? I will pay a 1 time 1-3$ fee for an app that allows that to be viewed in an easier format! You'll never get the google+ fee again, nor the $14 fees requested for you tube EVER! I have a working antiquated version on an equally antiquated computer, that I will enjoy all the same without the ads IF I ever decide I need to watch but til then I am joining the google services boycott 4ever!

I loved the update for an hour-- then, and ever since, I've been having continuity problems. Several minutes into any video a varietal playback problem occurs, one of: skipping minutes of the video (this one comes WITH the other problems, always); suddenly blurry quality as though somebody suddenly fogged up a lense and the fog is irremovable; sometime in tandem with previous, but more common an occurrence is the cutting out of sound. This problem can not be fixed by reinstallation, closing out the app and trying again from scratch, nor even a device reboot. It persists, and reoccurs every time I reload any part of any video, and if the video is long enough, one or all of these problems will happen, assuredly, at least a couple of times if I'M persistent. Because of these issues, I have been forced to use the less awesome mobile-version website through another app. My biggest problem is that I can't just continue watching my video! These things happen without fail and I have finally discontinued my use of this app-- please fix this problem, NOBODY would want to have to deal with this. I'm fairly surprised no other reviews are about this, seeing as this is a completely new device and All.

Overall I like the look and the setup and how it's similar to the Facebook app. However, before on the other app, when wi-fi was enabled, the video played in amazing quality. Now the videos stay in a more pixelated quality regardless. It only loads so many comments and if you're looking for one that happened over an hour ago on one like say...the terrible call made during the Greenbay Packers vs. the Seattle Seahawks, then you're screwed. You don't have the ability to click on a user's name from their comment, or better yet, even their comment if you wanted to go to a link they provided. You also cannot like or dislike or really do anything pertaining to any comments made on the video. Does have more such results than the original app, though. There are some videos that only showed up on the desktop version, and if you tried to do this on the phone, it wouldn't work without flash. This app finds that video. For example the OFFICIAL music videos actually show up as the top result for songs on this one. I swear the old one was ONLY the "alternate" results. Just needs some improvement!

I use this app literally every single day! There's nothing wrong with the app besides some videos taking a long time to load here and there, but as you saw in the title, there's one big problem with it! (Or, at least in my opinion anyway.) like I said, some videos will take a while to load, but this is what leads to this big problem most of the time it happens. I use the app for so long during my free time, and after using it for about 45 minutes to an hour or so, the next video says it couldn't load! I always keep hitting the the screen to refresh it, but half a second after, it says the same thing! Sometimes it won't load because I lost Internet connection to my home for some reason, (not sure why that happens), but even when I get back on Internet, it still won't load any videos! The only way I can get it to start working isn't by sliding the page up, but by sliding off, (if you know what I mean), my phone! The only problem with that is the iPhone takes a while to turn back on completely! Please fix this problem! It's driving me insane!!!

1. Scrolling through subscribed channels means going horizontally, which is the shortest side of the phone. Can't see as many in one view unless you click the one tab to open them up in a whole new screen. This is less intuitive, not as convenient as the old way, and an ugly design. 2. User account gets its own page? I don't upload videos like thousands of other users, and this page is a waste. The only thing useful on there is the subscribed playlists. Wait, why is that in my account and not with the other subscriptions? Doesn't make any sense. 3. In the old version you could swipe to the right and pull out a menu/list of everything you need, like all your subscriptions and playlists and settings, and you could scroll through this, while the main focus of the app was on still the videos. It was nice and it felt like an advanced feature that more apps started adopting, seemingly after you introduced it (Facebook for example? Maybe? Can't remember exactly) but it seemed like you had something cool that worked really well, and it was intuitive and quick to use. Now everything takes more steps just to browse and easily see the videos I'm interested in.

I have so many issues with this app and then I see there is an update for it. Awesome! Now my problems will be fixed. NOPE! It did absolutely nothing. What is the point of an update if you don't fix anything? My main issue is that when I watch a video it will be fine until halfway through and then the audio continues but the video starts at the beginning. I pause the video thinking the video just needs to catch up, but it doesn't work. Now I'm pretty much watching the same video but with different audio. I fast forward the video, and it's still back at the beginning but with the audio from later. Also, let's say I am watching a video that is 6:20 long and let's say the audio/video is acting up again. Not only is the video and audio completely off, but now the video is exceeding 6:20! It keeps counting up now. At this point, I don't know what is going on and everything is screwed up. I don't even think you people bother to read these feedbacks. If you did, we wouldn't have issues all the time! Maybe you should take the time to read through the feedback so you can fix what needs to be fixed. These "updates" obviously are not doing anything.

This is an amazing app. I love how user-friendly it is and I also love the layout. But, there are a few things that I believe will help improve this app and increase positive feedback, which in turn will increase downloads. Firstly, I think you should allow users to pause and play videos/audios by using their Apple headset. That way they could quickly pause or play a video/audio more rapidly. Another improvement that people would enjoy is the ability to play videos/audios in the background while navigating in other apps on your iPhone. This would be awesome! Lastly, it will be terrific if you could somehow enable users to scroll through a video/audio at different speed/tuning rates so that they could accurately get to the part of the video/audio that they desire most. With the slight modifications added onto what you already have, I would rate you guys 5 stars. Like I said before you guys did a great job with this app and I know you want it to be greater. I like some of the new features they have added in the update like being able to go back to a previous video but I have a couple of problems with this app. 1. Rewinding is horrible and every time I try to rewind it will pause and then I'll try to play it and it won't play. 2. Replying to comments is a difficult task. 3. It will quit out of the app randomly and when I turn my phone off it'll quit out, watching a video and want to go to full screen and back to normal it'll quit out, buffering it'll quit and I'll lose the video I was watching. And 4. Way to many ads, it'll be an ad on every video, when I can't sleep and I put on some quite relaxing music I turn my volume up and then the add comes on and I freak out and hit myself in the face like 20 times. And to all those people saying 'there's nothing wrong with the app it's just like 2% of people with bad experiences with that app writing reviews' no stop that there's a lot of people with bad experiences with that app just because you didn't have one doesn't mean almost everyone didn't…so shut up
Rough Time

I've not had any chance to review the app until now. I love the app, it's basic functions and all but it's just not what it could be. For one there should be a way to check our inbox for messages or comments so we can be up to date. I know we could use Safari for that on our iPhones, but it would make it so much easier. I've had a problem recently where I click on a video, I change the quality (I have to every time even though I've used the same quality every time) and the video starts loading, as in the gray bar ticks across the bottom of the player, and all the while the video has not started playing. It does this for 1 minute videos where the video has been fully loaded then it won't play for another 20 seconds or so and once it starts playing, the video player acts like it needs to load the rest of the video by the gray bar loading while I'm watching which confuses me as I waited a minute or so thinking it was loading then it just stops and starts the video and starts loading it again. This app needs some bug time adjusting.
Problems with Videos/Quality

The main problem I'm having with this app is that my video will be, say, 9 minutes in, but for some reason, it starts playing the beginning of the video again, though keeping the correct audio for that portion of the video. This happens very often, and it's frustrating. Rewinding doesn't help. All you can do is close out the video and then pull it back up again. Having to do this for about every other video is irritating. Other than that, maybe making rewinding and fast forwarding videos more smooth would be much appreciated. As I just watch videos with this app, I like it very much, and would be happy to give it 5 stars if I could actually watch videos without so many hindrances. Thank you. Actually, I just wanted to add something that I appreciated. I like the "not interested" option on the home screen, because some of the things I'm recommended I am really not interested in, or I have no idea why it was recommended to me because it seems so random/weird/disturbing. So I like that feature, please keep it. Thanks again!

This version is much prettier to look at and operates more like the site itself, making videos easier to find. It's also nice to have videos that don't end themselves when they're over, and more development on checking your subscriptions. However moving to different parts of videos can be difficult at times as the scrubbing bar does not respond. Videos also opt to drop their quality on their own should they fail to load fast enough, which is irritating as I'd rather just wait than stare at a low-FPS blur. And for those that made use of it, this one no longer overtakes the audio channel. That means no more playing videos, then closing the phone and double-tapping the home button to resume them with just audio, which saves battery immensely. I usually used this method to listen to Retsupuraes while at work... not anymore I guess. Overall, a decent app, but would much rather see the return of the old one along side this to give the people an option, or at least feature adaptation of the old app to this one.
Recent problems

I have used this app for quite a while without many problems but recently this app has stopped working almost completely. It freezes up constantly and when I try to play videos, there is a black screen every single time and the video never shows. The audio works sometimes. I have restarted my iPhone, deleted the app, and re-downloaded it but this problem still exists. Even before these problems, if I fast forward or rewind during a video it buffers and freezes and I end up having to exit the app and restart. I have also had an extremely annoying problem where it won't let me lock my iPhone with a video playing. Now I cannot go jogging and listen to music with earphones because it won't let me play it in the background on the lock screen! It used to let me do this and I don't know what happened. The constant freezing and black screen has only been happening in the past week. Everything is up to date and this could be a result of a recent software or app update, I don't know. This problem NEEDS to be fixed!!! I cannot even watch videos anymore.
Almost Broke My Phone

He's how it went ok, I was just searching threw my subscription box and I clicked on a video. It sounds ok right? Nothing wrong at all. Until it took a bit to load and the video popped up and I could only see half of the screen on my phone so I could barely see what I was watching. Then the rest of the screen was completely black. It was very laggy and glitchy and it didn't let me back out of the video or press the home button. Then I tried restarting my phone and that didn't work. So it turned off but it would let me turn my phone back on, nothing was working and my phone was completely off and wouldn't turn on. At this point I didn't know what to do. Just a reminder it's 2:00 in the morning and I'm not going no where. So I tried waiting until my phone died so I can charge it and maybe it will turn back on but no. It ain't happening. So I waited around 15 mins and had to hold the home button and the power button for 15 secs and then it restarted my phone. Now I am happy that I can finally look at my beautiful phone and not a black screen. Surprised you've read this far, but thanks for reading. I just wanted to put this out there.

With every single new update I've watched this stupid app just get worse and worse. Starting off with the small things: suggested channels are completely irrelevant to my interests. If you try to watch one video from a channel, well, then you must want to watch all of them, so now the videos are all part of a playlist which maximizes itself once the the videos you didn't want to watch start. Comments seem to be in no particular order, and sometimes when scrolling through you get stuck in some kind of weird loop where you see the same 10 or so comments over and over. Onto the big things, the app is ridiculously unstable and crashes constantly. On your 'What to Watch' page, they got rid of room for content from the channels you actually enjoy watching so they can shove ads in your face and suggest some Minecraft channels for you to watch. Even if you've never played the game and aren't subbed to any gaming channels. I would definitely recommend this app to people who enjoy watching ads and videos that have nothing to do with their interests, assuming they are actually able to watch them, considering the crashes.
A Complete Failure

The newest version, 2.7.0, is even worse than I expected it to be. The "bug fixes" this time around involved breaking the search function. Now, instead of a list of ten or so items ghat appear as you type, there are three, which include previous searches no matter what you have typed. Auto-completion of search queries have been removed in favor of filling my feed with channels I don't want to watch. Luckily, however, the app crashes every fifteen minutes, so there is a way to clear the search history. I'm still waiting for the delete playlist button to be on the playlist's menu, not on my channel. Until there's a way to remove unwanted "recommendations" from my feed, I will never know when my friends upload videos. This app was barely functional to begin with, but the navigation and layout is broken so far beyond repair that watching a two-minute video becomes akin to scaling a mountain. Until more emphasis is placed on the videos and less on making the layout as user-unfriendly as possible, this will remain one of the worst apps I've ever used. Just get AdBlock and stick with a computer. At least there you'll have some control.

This app is terrible. It's slow, it crashes, there's no multitasking, weird spot for the play/pause button since new update, no annotations, you can't choose quality on cellular networks, even over LTE which is the same speed as my WI-FI network, and during every video I watch the pixelation happens, ON A 80 MBPS WIFI NETWORK SPEED! Also on the menus it randomly sorts your subscribers so it is hard to find who you are looking for if you have a lot. Also, I really hate the positioning of the forward and back buttons when watching a playlist. I always tap them on accident and it's very annoying. Oh yeah and one last thing, they took out the scroll to top feature so If you were scrolling down to view the comments and want to look back at the description, you have to manually scroll all the way up. This needs a MAJOR update. Just terrible... Why google... Why... EDIT: Hey they released an update with more bugs! Now when you are in the middle of watching a video, the video randomly goes to the beginning and the audio continues. The only way to fix it is to completely close the video and open it again. Great. Thanks for providing more bugs Google.

"Why?" Is my only question. The app was great before. I could be watching a video while scrolling through my subbed channels and look at my history and channel without having to exit an entire video. Who do you think you're impressing? Because whoever it is, you've failed them. The colors are blinding, there's TONS of unneeded space and the overall design is lazy. I could've come up with a better one. The dropdown menu was great, as stated above, and the interface was much more user friendly. I cringe every time I see an update and hope you fix the problems. But no. "Bug fixes" and "full iOS 9 compatibility" is all I get. Don't even get me started on the crashing! I feel like you haven't been to the review section in a while, because your current rating is 1 and a half stars. You went to one of the best apps on the market to one of the worst and I doubt you even care. This has been going on for far too long and you need to listen to us. Change the app back. Make it good again. I'm tired of uninstalling and reinstalling to get the old version back and I'm sure everyone else is, too. So just do everyone a favor and CHANGE IT BACK.
Can see more potential

I would like if this had a history function so if I had to cut a video or two short, then I could go back and watch it. If it does, then it's really out of sight. Also, if it had the ability to view the youtuber's inbox. I'm getting too many spam videos and also respond to messages people send me or comment on their comment. And maybe, the ability to upload videos from the phone. Although better (using the term loosely) than the old built-in app, it needs a few more tweaking. But overall positive aspects is: That I can see ALL the people I'm subscribed to, and not just the hand full that the built-in app gave me (that's big to me). The pull down to update the video feed is needed, I hated having to go back and forth between videos or subscriptions to see new things. It's fairly quick to load up the people's video pages. I'm only having small problems so far, but I'm glad I downloaded this app. Because the iOS 6 update removed the old built-in app for me.

I for one love this app but it's frustrating and very annoying to see video quality degrade like this does. On my iPhone 4S it can go from super clear to where it's useless to even watch a video the way it blurs out which makes NO scenes to me to degrade a video quality to where it renders it useless. I always have to go to safari watch it there instead but much rather watch from the app while it's working right and ultra clear. I've downloaded update after update hoping it's an update to the my particular problem but always for some reason gets ignored. I assume this isn't an isolated issue? Please fix with next update. I can handle a little quality degradation but not when it's so blurry it hurts my eyes to even watch a video and can't make out anything on the video which all it's good for is listening to the sound which btw also goes down in quality but anyway please fix this and I'll give it 10 stars if I had that option but 5 for sure. Thanks

As the title states, Safari does a lot better at showing videos than this. First, the quality for most videos become so terrible that I must change the quality so that it has to work. ALL THE DARN TIME. Second, your history is not fully recorded thus it being difficult finding really old videos you would like to watch again. To add, (even though this isn't just the App) most videos are un viewable because they aren't set to your platform? I understand one or two videos are fine, but when the only black veil brides video you can watch on mobile is the official single video itself while 9000 others aren't, there's a problem. It's not only annoying, but stupid since everyone will see these videos despite what they use. Finally, commenting is the worst to do on my device. Even reading older comments is a hassle! I can reply to some of them, while others, I can just report. Overall, while some good features, most of it is pointless since it's only job is to allow a decent watching experience that can be accomplished on any browser or app.
Needs rewind buttons and background playing

I haven't had many problems with this app. But, whenever I try to rewind a video, I either pass the place I wanted it or it freezes. One thing I would like is to make scrubbing easier or add a rewind button to make going back in a video easier. Another thing I would like added is a "continue playing in background" or "play while locked" option. I like listening to music on the app. But, when I want to lock my phone, it stops the music and I have to keep the app unlocked and open at all times. It's really annoying when I don't want my phone on in my pocket, but I want to listen to music with my headphones. Please make it possible to keep videos and music playing after locking the phone or going into multitasking. It would really help me and a lot of other people who are probably having the same problem. I would rate 4.5, but 4 is all I can currently give. Thank you if you read this review and please consider adding the suggested items to your update list. Then it will be worth a full five stars. UPDATE: The app is wonderful with the 60fps option! Pc gaming videos have never been more clear! But, it's only in 720p and there's a lot of pixelation. If it's possible to add a 1080p with 60fps, that would be fantastic! There's already an app that has a great 1080p option, but not with 60fps. So, only because of the 60fps is why I'm not deleting this app straight off my phone. Please consider updating!

The app if great, the people here are just complaining over features they can do on their own but are complaining over the fact they have to do it themselves, the only problem I have, the ONLY I've ever had, is the fact comments are impossible to reply with because when the screen to rep,y shows up, I can't see what I'm typing and most of the time, if I hit cancel or reply, the app crashes. One thing that needs to be added however if replying to comments that are replies to the main comment. I don't want to reply to the main comment when I want to respond to the reply for the main comment. Just a small thing nothing major. Seriously though, I have no problem with this app whatsoever, if you have a problem with it, then too bad, don't come on here and hate the creators, what if it's your device? Anyways if you are depnding on these "reviews" to make you decide wether downloading the app or not, ignore them and try it out yourself.

I've discovered those problems that you complain about years ago and it's on like 2 third of all Apps, so I came out with a solution. With today hard drive prices keep dropping and the capacity of memory is growing so I bought myself a 3 TERA USB HD, and I back up all my Apps (especially the old ones ), I've discovered that if you open iTunes while holding the shift button you get options like creating a new iTunes library or choosing one of many that you already created, I can creat as many iTunes library's with my choice of names which I usually choose the date as the new iTunes library and place them anywhere I wish just like on my 3 TERA USB HARD DRIVE and this lets me keep all versions of all Apps and in a dated order, it's also good for installing Apps on older devices because as you all know many Apps today won't install unless you upgrade to the latest iOS but older devices won't upgrade any more so it's always good to have a collection of older dated Apps. Hope this will help you guys in the future!
Good, but needs some improvements

I like the way you can minimize the video in a multitasking way! Unfortunately, that seems to be the only improvement. The new interface seems really messy. The description box doesn't load fully, and you have to scroll through the suggested vids in order to get to the comments. And one problem with the comment section is that you can't reply to a specific comment and you can't click and access a commenter's channel. However, the most annoying thing about this app is that there is no back button. In order to go back to your search results, YOU HAVE to minimize the video and pause it if you thought it was annoying. I liked the tabs style, where you can click for either the description box, comments, or suggested video. It was much cleaner. I pretty much wished they added the option to minimize video but kept the old interface the same. Again, way too crowded on an iPod/iPhone, but probably fine on iPad.
Completely terrible layout

This app used to be somewhat well laid out. All of your subscriptions, history, and playlists were on the left. You could easily tap whichever selection you wanted at any time, from anywhere in the app. It wasn't perfect but it mostly worked. Recently Google seems to have totally redesigned the app layout from OK to down right terrible. First, only a small selection of your subscribed channels are visible at one time, and you can only see this selection in a special tab. Which channels are visible in this tab is always changing randomly. Secondly, you have to tap on each channel and wait for a new page to load before you can see the channel. If you want to see the other channels, you have to hit the back button and wait for the list to load again. There's no easy way to get back to this main list either. If you've followed several suggested links, you have to hit the back button many many times to get back to your main list. Lastly, your playlists and history are on a totally different tab. This new layout is a nightmare to navigate. Whoever thought of this new design, should be fired.
