Great Tool
by Timrap123 on 2020/03/25 20:07
This is a great and convenient app for filmmakers. My one small problem is that I had slight difficulty trying to share my projects across all my devices but I figured it out pretty quickly - no big deal:)
Essential Tool for Filmmakers
by JMDipiazza on 2020/03/17 02:27
This app has really streamlined my prep and day of shoot process. In the past I would use a combination of scribbled notes, a modified Excel chart, sketches, etc. Now I can write my script in Final Draft Mobile, Import it to Shot Lister and all the basic setup is good to do. I can hit the ground running adding shots then later corresponding storyboards. My iPad has become a very powerful organizational tool in my filmmaking arsenal.
So useful!
by KingOfHeartsFilms on 2020/02/25 02:05
This app is solid! It’s a real help organizing shots, timing, and creative choices needed to crush a production!
Great App
by Incurious Films on 2020/02/06 04:51
It’s a great app, it would be awesome to sync the files in the icloud besides Dropbox
Wasn’t what I expected
by eddict9989 on 2020/01/30 14:32
When I first heard of this app, I didn’t think that it would be as good as they said it was. I was completely wrong! This app completely changed my pre-production process in both organization and speed. I have never been so organized without having a ton of paperwork on me and risk missing copies or pages that are vital to the project. Of course, I’m using the full version so don’t mistake what I’m saying as being included with the basic plan. Seriously, get the pro plan, you’ll be glad you did and it’s not super expensive.
Literally the best app a filmmaker can have.
by nipplelikker on 2020/01/06 02:29
I have been looking for a a shot list solution for a while and couldn’t find the right fit until now. It took me less than a couple minutes to figure out how the app was structured. Now i can create shot lists to share with my team. I’ve never really been the one to stick to my shot list 100% because fiddling with a clipboard can be annoying. This app changed the way I make my films.
Great Product
by 802AD on 2019/12/17 14:57
This app is an incredible tool for DPs and ADs alike. It’s great for projects that involve a lot of planning, however it’s not quite as useful if the director or DP doesn’t like to plan the shots out in detail. The customer support is fantastic and the developers truly care about making sure that people have good experiences with the app. Definitely worth every penny.
Great Collaboration Tool
by HartfordFilmmaker on 2019/12/10 02:46
Great way to keep Department heads in the know on set. As a director, taking the time to fill in information ahead of time means my crew can start setting up for the next shot without waiting for me. I do wish it had better integration for storyboards, maybe allowing for video clips or overhead diagrams in addition.

I can’t live without my Shotlister and don’t know how I managed to get by without it prior to installing. Support and service are always just an email away. You can tell that the folks behind this app actually developed it for their own use, based on their experiences. Highly recommended for use by anyone working in production.
Buggy at best
by bigbuce13 on 2019/11/12 16:56
App is super buggy. There is no way to import an updated script to a project you already started, so you’re script better be locked if you plan on using this. Also if you for the pro function it renews after a year, but the app kicks you out and won’t let you restore the pro account. Just create your shot list in a different app if I were you.
Constantly Closing
by d.flugowski on 2019/11/09 20:16
App is great... when it’s not randomly shutting down on me.
An amazing app!
by jschaeffer879 on 2019/11/04 21:56
I’m sure that everyone has experienced this, but last minute shoots tend to happen too often. In a cinch, I’ve found myself using the Shot Lister to create a quick shotlist for my crew and clients. It’s a powerful app and could not recommend it more. What I think is amazing is how the developer of the app is also in the film industry. Always making tweaks and updates to better suit the filmmaker’s needs.
Great app for a DP
by Tman43211 on 2019/11/04 00:02
This App is great for DPs, cinematographers, production. I was able to build my shoot day and then sync in my producer so they could make changes as needed. Really like the storyboard/script integration as well. So far so good.
Super helpful app
by Klab19 on 2019/10/29 03:13
Downloaded the app for an upcoming shoot. It has great functionality and is super helpful during the pre-production process. It helps you get organized and can be used across devices and among multiple crew members. Definitely worth it!
Great app, Great Support
by xx Beta Max xx on 2019/10/21 22:44
App works great, super organized, very valuable to each job and production. The support is world class, instant response and quick fix to any issue.
Super Helpful App!
by LJGPHOTO on 2019/10/08 06:12
Once you get the hang of the app it’s amazing. I prefer to use the desktop app and then sync it to IOS for day of shoot. Awesome that you can import storyboards.
Solid app for DPs/Directors
by AZlens on 2019/10/02 17:34
Really have enjoyed this tool for recent shoots. Streamlined much of the process for shot lists for me. I think some improvements could be made on the “sync” features however. Too many times I would lose updates to the SLH doc when someone else was making changes
Great app for scheduling and shotlisting
by The Carlsonman on 2019/10/02 17:14
Really intuitive, powerful app that helps you keep track of production times and audition schedule adjustments on the fly. I signed up for the Pro subscription which makes importing scripts and adding storyboards very easy. Exported PDFs are also amazingly useful. This app is everything I was hoping for to helps me plan a short film!
Works great
by Deji B on 2019/10/02 00:29
I have been using this for a while and I really like it. I enjoy being able to rearrange the schedule in the fly.
App always crashes
by supersniffer123 on 2019/09/18 03:07
This app has great potential but the developer really needs to fix the issue with the app crashing all the time
Lost whole day of work
by schquidvard on 2019/09/06 16:29
It is very easy to press Sync from Crew Server instead of Publish to Crew Server resulting in a loss of all shots and scenes not already published. Make it harder to mess this up!
Good app with potential
by Jdwade12 on 2019/08/13 00:44
This app could be amazing to use on shoots. The only problem that I had was that I couldn’t use it without an internet signal. Any time I tried to check off an item we had shot without internet, the app crashed. It made it kind of useless. I wish there were some other options like more focal lengths, shot types, and the ability to duplicate shots on iOS.
Very Good App
by Deespuriel on 2019/05/27 01:31
I love this app and will probably get the desk top version as well. Pretty easy to navigate and has pretty mush all the features you need Small gripe you have to go an additional screen to see all of the info but not much else to complain about.
App Updated & Great Customer Service!
by Rakk7 on 2019/05/26 23:52
I had an issue where it would force quit. But, Rob the IT guy allowed me to call his personal phone and he walked me through on how the app works. He also updated the Apple store with an updated app, and explained everything to me thoroughly. EMAIL responses were the same day. They made sure I was helped. Thank you so much!! I now understand how to add projects, scenes, shots & storyboards.
Every film maker needs this TOOL
by Sean Kennedy Santos on 2019/03/14 18:14
In conjunction with other pro industry apps for scheduling your production, indie film or tentpole motion picture. This tool / app is hands down a brilliant process for all your HOD’s. From Dir to DOP & more. The mobility & ease to alter shots, times, settings in production are flawlessly simple. This will save your production time & money. Definitely upgrade to PRO user though. This is not a paid endorsement. It’s from a user / director who’s looking to get the film made with a seamless workflow. Shotlister has it all.
Great, except for one nag!
by Azmi111 on 2019/02/18 21:16
Excellent, so far. I’m a DP for feature films / tv shows and have been looking for a new way to shotlist (have been making custom templates on excel for a decade!) and this hits the mark. Just really, really wish I didn’t have to come up with a “nickname” every time I add a new shot. Just writing this review to publicly request the developers to just let a new shot be added blankly. It’s the one big unintuitive and nonsensical speed-bump in a pretty efficient application. Great stuff, otherwise! Thank you for the good work.
Excellent

Exactly what we needed. Worked great!
Beware Fraudulent Company!!!
by Vinnie 77 on 2018/07/21 22:55
I’ve had the app on my iPad for a few years now. After purchasing a new iPad and deciding that I wanted to put the pro version on my new iPad I did a search on iTunes. I downloaded the app and paid for a subscription. The developer not only charged me 13.99 for the app but also charged me another 13.99 for the subscription.
Great Product; Great Customer Service
by dontreallycare on 2018/07/12 13:40
I’ve been using Shot Lister for more than a year on several shoots. I’m not sure what I’d do without it. It’s super user friendly and perfect for a team collaborating. I had a small software update issue I needed to deal with and the customer service was quick, friendly, and solved the problem right away. Cannot recommend more.
Doesn’t Open Anymore
by irurjbr on 2018/07/03 09:56
App worked great until it crashed and never opened again. Where have the new updates gone?
Great potential
by Mr. Mateo on 2018/03/30 14:06
Update: latest version of the app is definitely improved and the developer seems to earnestly be working hard at making this app amazing. I’m sticking with it and would encourage others to get behind a great developer that listens. Keep coming back to this app because I love the concept, unfortunately it fails in the implementation category. Syncing for example is really rough. Sometime sync works, but more often projects fail to sync or duplicate. Signing in and out sometimes resolves the issue, but not always. If this worked as advertised, reliably, it would be amazing.
DOES NOT OPEN ON IPHONE 8
by Farm3r_T3d on 2017/12/31 01:25
This is a non-functional app. It worked, and still works on my iPhone 5s but immediately crashes on my new 8Plus. Please update app. For a subscription based app there should be frequent updates.
Not worth the money
by Dissatisfied filmmaker on 2017/12/14 23:19
I've had this app for a couple of years and normally they're pretty responsive when you ask for stuff and they get back to you quickly but what they don't do is actually do what you request. The only way to get your shot list out of your iPad or Mac is this wonky export option where it saved as a PDF and then it emails it, and then you can print it. I have asked for a print option for years. Why, because the emails don't always go through sometimes they take forever sometimes they never go through. Also you need a malleable shot list option because there's no way to do a letter system. I've asked for this for two years still haven't gotten it. Had to resort to screenshots in order to print my Shot List. So, I'm done and I don't recommend, you waste your money. This app could have been brilliant, but it's not.
App is Crashing - Unusable
by Tucurly4u on 2017/12/11 15:57
The app is crashing on the new iOS 11.2. Iphone 8 Plus. Please fix
Decent but lack some basic options
by mdifilm on 2017/09/07 11:59
We tried it on a film shoot and it was a bit of a headache to actually use it right due to the fact at day of filming things can go a bit off planned and so sometimes you will need to add shots or adjust, when there are multiple cameras involved. The inconsistently sections (some areas requiere you to save to continue others simple using cancel) makes it a bit hard to follow through. And when there are good takes, the circle takes option lack the ability to add additional notes (about these good takes) make it a need to jog info down to paper and then that means it requieres some combination of tablet and paper. It's not bad but it's just felt incomplete. I will try it for another simple filming and will see. Update. After three weeks of trying to use it on our feature film shoot. We decided not to continue using it. It's too time confusing while on set when there's a readjustment of the shot list or need to make additional shot list. Not to mention the limited tools to make it more intuitive. So l have cancelled my yearly subscription and decided leave this app alone. If you use multiple cameras this can become extremely difficult to use. Great ideas but when in real environment with script supervisor, it's more headache to make it work than to use pen and pencil.
Make storyboard feature subscription free
by SilwalB on 2017/08/08 03:51
It is quite a handy tool but developers should really make storyboard feature subscription free and bring other premium features subscription based. This will make users choose this one over others.
Undeveloped app don't waste your money
by ninja brc on 2017/07/30 16:59
PDF wouldn't export the whole scenes. Formatting looks unusable. Waste of money
So far so good
by Hooch224 on 2017/06/14 07:16
This is my second time using this program as a director. I love how I can import directly from a final draft file and it populates my scenes. I have not tried cross device syncing so can not speak to this issue. Definitely worth the yearly rate.
Great program..
by Matt Munn on 2017/06/12 17:46
I use this on three different platforms, MacOs iPad and my iPhone. It's awesome for planning out shoots. However there are issues with with uploading and syncing between devices. Let's say I create a shot list on my Mac, I try to sync it to use on my iPhone, but it doesn't work. So I'll save a file out locally and try to reimport it on my iPhone to make adjustments on the go. That works, but now that file I've adjusted won't sync to the cloud off my iPhone. So I again can't access it on any other device. Another issue is, when trying to save out a PDF with images off of my iPhone, it makes the PDF but the images don't show up. And yes I set it to export with images. Sometimes it works but often times it doesn't export the images. It seems to work the best on iPad. Saying all that I still recommend the app, besides those strange technical issues, the program itself is SUPER useful.
Awesome!
by Kevinlmounce on 2017/05/14 01:36
Love this app. Makes it incredibly easy to come up with a shot list. Very intuitive and solid tutorials on the website. Would like to be able to add some more customizable shot columns (currently only has one), but overall great app!
I bought this app...
by w1selabs on 2017/04/11 18:34
to support the creativity of its creators. (Suggested to me on twitter by devs) Turns out I not only needed it but I LOVE IT! THIS APP DOES ALL THAT I NEED IT TO DO and I still haven't used all of its features. 5 STARS!!! We use it for a number of collaborative projects like w1selabs, TEAM:SPIRIT (ghost hunting) and our own little PID's like NAKED ASSASSIN: (NASOTD series) and LEL's Lake Eerie. CHEERS!!
Amazing. Innovative. Future of preproduction
by Chrismurill on 2017/04/08 08:31
I don't really write reviews but this one is a must because of how easy and straightforward this app gives us 1st Assistant Directors. From use to using writing on 100 of pieces of paper or printing 100 of pages of shot lists now is easily compatible with just an app. How amazing is that? I highly recommend this app for filmmakers, especially indie-filmmakers! Thank you for creating such an amazing app! Happy filmmaking!!!!
Incredible App!
by Fartz69 on 2017/04/06 02:55
I take forever to decide to buy things. After a year of reading about it I finally bought ShotLister and it has been incredibly useful. Also amazing technical support.
It's great when it works, but...
by findamir on 2017/03/02 00:03
Did a job and started a shot list for a 22 minute short film. When production started, the folks at shotlister decided to send an update and of course the app could no longer, for some reason, find my work anymore. Luckily I had my work in Dropbox, and even though I bought the windows version of this app, none of them would open it. By the time they got back to me, when I had to send them my project to see if they can save it, we were done with the production 95%. Be weary of updates and do not count on their CS to get back to you promptly.
Don't waste your money

Completely Changed My Shooting Prep
by maker566 on 2016/10/07 23:16
There is simply not a better tool. Gone are countless hours on spreadsheets and complicated explanations of shots alongside separate storyboards. Crew Sync has made it so the ever evolving hour-by-hour schedule will always be up-to-date and ready to go on the day--even allowing for minor tweaks that quickly get everyone on the same page with the day's plan. Worth every penny!
Misleading
by CoffeeFiend on 2016/05/09 14:43
I don't like the that this app is very misleading in the fact it does not tell you need FINAL DRAFT 10, so if you have an earlier version of Final Draft AVOID this app! Sort of makes me think these 'testimonials' are fake ones.
Should add camera angle

Still needs work
by C-Bisher Man on 2016/01/28 03:02
I would give it 5 stars -- if it were not for the fact that when typing in text in the description that your text disappears if your sentence is too long. Yes when you're done you can see everything you typed. But not "as" your typing it. This just started happening. Never happened before. Why? I'm going crazy with a shot list due tomorrow for a commercial I'm directing and can't see the description I'm typing?!?!
Such a great tool!
by Tonknisity on 2016/01/15 09:20
This app is pretty much amazing! The on set "live" mode makes it all worth it. I just wish you could store notes that are used commonly on each shoot day (lunch, co move, looks change, etc) so I don't have to re type those every day I schedule. But at the same time, I don't know how I did it before, and it's making this indie feature stay on point.
Awesome App
by Jtlawre on 2015/12/15 00:21
As a film director I can't remember what I did before this app worth every penny.
Awful
by SonTzu Tang Clan on 2015/11/09 13:51
It never works. Literally, ever. I can't open it, I can't use it, I could've gotten more use out of just lighting $14 on fire and using it to cook delicious s'mores. In concept, this working app would be great...then again, so would flying cars. They're both figments of our imagination though.

Awesome App, Great service!
by JBankert925 on 2015/09/17 03:11
I just got the app because I am an aspiring film maker and have small crews. This app has helped so much with the organization of the shots for my script. I think apps like this are the future for the movie industry. Also I got a helpful response hours from emailing "Shot Lister." This quick interaction means a lot to me. Get this app!
My bible on set
by Boosh!! on 2015/06/23 17:51
I’m the director of a new online series called "47 Secrets to a Younger You". We just finished principal photography on Season 1 and we used Shot Lister every day. The app on my iPad was my bible during production and having it on my iPhone provided a useful quick reference guide I had with me at all times. I added our script supervisor (she manned the iPad), our DP, and two producers to the crew so we all had the most up-to-date information. The storyboard feature allowed me to quickly show the crew exactly what I was looking for and in the order we’d be shooting it. The ability to switch scene or shot order with a simple touch, and have the entire schedule automatically update, was invaluable. And the app keeping time for you was a great bonus… and it was always a nice pick-me-up when we looked over and saw that we were “in the green” (on the occasions that happened!). Love this app and will definitely be using it on my next production.
The reasons iPad was invented
by Dylan Murtaugh on 2015/05/27 17:40
This incredible app takes all the fear and complication out of creating shot lists and scheduling your film. The developer has literally thought of everything. Obviously a filmmaker himself. The Pro option is even better, allowing seamless importing from Final Draft and the attaching of storyboards. Please make a storyboard app to partner with this!
Great for Production
by DrDJInfinity on 2015/05/16 00:34
Shotlister is an app that truly enables filmmakers to cut the cord on traditional spreadsheets. From shot list to scheduling, this app encompasses much of what most small productions will need to organize and schedule, though the tools are certainly ready for industry use.

Worked but then didn't
by Blueguju on 2015/05/01 14:42

Amazing...
by IndieWhip on 2015/04/24 01:49
The app is amazing and super simpler to use. I hope they update the tutorials soon to reflect all the awesome changes they've implemented. Oh, emailed customer support around 11pm, and got a response two minutes later... Unheard of!
The best filmmaking app I've ever used.
by SamPatton on 2015/04/06 19:33
This app is a total game changer. It works exactly as described, it's intuitive, and it's powerful. Worth every penny. I bought it for a shoot, upgraded to the PRO, and then got 4 crew members to buy the app to follow along. In like the first 2 hours of using it to AD the shoot. Favorite feature: you can review storyboards in either shooting order, or scene order. So if you have shot-reverse scenes separated in the shooting order, you can attach stills from the monitor, view in story order, and check eyeline and shot size right there to make sure the shots match. GAMECHANGER.
Excellent App and Excellent Customer Service
by Skinnyrie on 2015/02/23 03:18
I bought this app to do a music video and now a movie. It was easy to use and the exporting features such as drop box worked great when applying changes to the crew. I had a few questions on making it easier without becoming a pro member. My emails were answered almost immediately. Thanks for the app and service! Pricey but worth it when using it enough.
Pro quality and FAST customer support
by DaveBarak on 2015/02/22 19:51
Well-designed, pro quality. I had a support question and had an answer waiting for me in my email within a half hour of my initial request. It may not always be this fast (although it could be, too) but it bodes well overall about their commitment to quality.
A must have tool!!!!
by patofoto on 2015/02/21 23:17
I am a very details-oriented person. After purchasing Shot Lister it only took minutes to get acquainted with the app. Easy to set up a shoot and get organized. On my flight home after a whole day location scouting, landed with a shoot all organized and schedule done. My producer was super impressed. I don’t have an iPad and use it on my iPhone 6+. I would like the option of picking a smaller font to be able to see more information on a smaller screen but all in all incredibly useful even on an iPhone which is very convenient. Highly recommend to all filmmakers.
Fantastic
by Nilstaylor on 2015/01/24 18:52
Loves this app, makes preproduction very efficient. Intuitive and after using it, I would say dearly essential to prep.
Dang Good
by Thaddeus Crunch on 2015/01/16 18:46
I just started using ShotLister on a project of mine and it’s already a must have tool. It definitely streamlines the whole process of not only creating a shot list, but shoot day scheduling as well. I have not used it on set yet, that’s coming soon! But when I do I’ll update to reflect that experience. The only drawbacks I can see are a little weirdness in the iCloud sync as of iOS 8 which I can’t blame on the developer as Apple revamped the whole deal. Unlike many developers, they’re not absentee. Updates, while not often, are timely after iOS updates. They are very responsive as well, having helped me out with a missing project issue in a super unexpected short time frame.

This is truly a tool any director should have on a shoot. This is a masterpiece that will make the life of pre-production the most enjoyable. I have successfully turned 4 incomplete short films, that had no planning because I am not a fan of doing all the paper work into a full fledged plan to the very end of production. I have even paid for the yearly subscription at $13.99 which makes life for my editor easier and a quick way to show my cast and crew what we are doing visually. I didn't believe in this product at first but I'm so happy I made this purchase. If you take your films seriously then I recommend this NOW!!! Happy Shooting!!!
App is helpful, future upgrades will be welcomed
by Nrs Lee on 2014/12/06 06:47
This is a pretty cool app. It takes a little bit of work to understand it and the workflow. But once you figure it out, it’s straightforward. I like that you can add a storyboard and there’s a calendar function. Haven’t used it on set yet but am using it right now in pre-production.
Really Cool
by Digixan on 2014/09/14 02:52
Enjoyable app, easy to get around but you need a yearly subscription to fully enjoy the app 😞 But the rest is usable though.
No Storyboard, No Script Import
by redindian75 on 2014/09/07 07:37
You cannot import a script, you can’t circle a take, you cannot add a storyboard - if u cannot do anything what is the point of storyboard picture on the iTunes store?
Great App for any Filmmaker!
by aldogallinar on 2014/08/29 05:41
This app helps you stay on schedule! It's easy to use, and gets rid of the mess of having to write down a shot list. It's a must have for anyone in the film industry.
A must for all Filmmakers!

Great organizing tool!
Not complete toolbar
by I AM RC on 2014/07/20 05:57
Downloaded latest version, I am a new user. There are missing icons from the toolbar, notably the pencil which allows you to edit apps, and the gear wheel that takes you to other settings once you select a project. Not certain why this is unavailable, and can find no tutorials or documentation on if there is something different about this version than all the others. Waiting to see if I get a response from their tech dept.
Get this app!

This app is great! It's for any filmmaker, low budget to Hollywood budget! Helps me keep organized and worry less about the shots and more about the actors. It also very easy to use! You can customize it you your liking! Get it, it will help you, believe me!

Easy to use and share
Simply The Best
by Appman5605 on 2014/07/10 11:46
Finally, a user friendly, functional, practical shot list and storyboard app for the iPad. I just learned about it last week, wish I had known earlier! Thank you to the app developer! I know this requires a sizable cash investment, as far as apps are concerned, but sooooo worth it.
Amazing!!!
by jifsf on 2014/07/06 02:40
Whenever I use this app, I am so organized!!! All the features are amazing, ONLY wish the storyboard integration was built in to this(pro version only). But without it, it would be a hassle without this app.
FINALLY!
by Rebecca Murray on 2014/06/20 12:32
I've tried other shot organizing apps but this is the only one that works for me. I absolutely love everything about it. From being able to share the details (as I wish them to be shared) with crew and clients, this app helps to keep everyone on the same page...literally. Also allows for shoot day time tracking which is an outstanding feature. It will allow us to determine what to cut/ reorganize/change to keep the schedule and meet our film goals. Took me a couple hours and a few videos to get the hang of it, but now it is a breeze. Support is so fast made my head spin. Thank You Zach! I am one happy Shotlister!
Great potential but...
by Jchang42 on 2014/05/17 04:00
Oh and one last suggestion: the time increments should go up by twos or ones, not fives. Sometimes shots for indy films take less than 5 minutes Triple Update... I think that the "glitch" was just me failing because the app is a little confusing... Double Update... It's still glitching!!!!!! FIX PLEASE!!! And also read my suggestions! Or maybe I just don't know how to use it? Maybe it's not a glitch? Am I doing something wrong!?!? This app is SO confusing!:) Update... Ok so the glitch seems to have disappeared. I'll give it a 4 star for now. However I have some suggestions. 1.) It would be cool if there was a built in gear packing checklist. This would be easy to implement as the gear would already be entered in gear section. 2.) I would LOVE to have a lighting feature where you could select what kind of lighting equipment/style you were going to use. If added , PLEASE DONT make it a pro feature. 3.) Could a movie slate be built in? 4.) There should also be more then one gear slot, so you could select multiple pieces of gear. Thanks so much reading my suggestions! I think they would make this already good app even better. I look forward to future updates! It has a really annoying glitch where when I try to change the times and lengths of my shots, it won't save what I enter. If I try to enter 5 minute shoot time, it saves it as 34 minutes! What the heck?!?! It's a great app but seriously, I paid 13.99! I'm a little disappointed. Please fix as soon as possible and I will give a 5 star rating!
It works!

This is a very efficient, comprehensive, and worthwhile tool. I highly recommend it to directors.
Great Tool For Film Production
by Caleb K on 2014/05/05 00:51
I'm in production on my short film and I needed a tool for my shot list. This app is awesome, most the things that I need in a shot list are right there. Making a shot list can be tedious to create but this app makes it easy with it's drop down menus. It is also great that the lists are easy customizable. I haven't used the live view to keep track of time but I can't wait to try it out. I love that you can email pdf files as well. Also there are no bugs in the software that I can tell! It operates smoothly!
Great app for film makers

Shotlister is fantastic
by Greg Hughs on 2014/03/18 16:55
I recently used shotlister on a shoot and it is a lifesaver! When I had talent show up late, I was able to quickly rearrange some shots and get back on track. And best of all, I could refer to shotlister often and see exactly how I was doing with my schedule for the day. And Zach is very responsive to emails, so I rarely go stuck in setting up my project! Thanks Zach!
Shotlister is awesome!
by Gilleyboy71 on 2014/03/11 21:03
I discovered this app on my last project. Like Zach describes in his intro video, I was making and remaking clunky spreadsheets that were outdated before I walked out the door on shoot day. The scheduling, shoot day, part of the app is excellent with its flexible time adjustments. The ability to change one shot and have it adjust the whole day is priceless. Another bonus is the customization of fields to show only the info that you need. I only have the basic version now but will probably upgrade to the Pro version for better iCloud sync features, circle takes and storyboards. The only thing thing this app could really use is the ability to create call sheets and directories of crew and vendors. If this app could include all of that information, a producer would need only one app for everything. Definitely watch the tutorial videos before you get started. They provide a ton of useful info that will make your life easier and more productive. All in all an excellent tool for film makers!
Brilliant easy to use app
by masundbe on 2014/02/25 19:30
This is a fantastic app. I work in children’s television and we need every possible tool at our disposal when it comes to wrangling our sets, given that we are often in need of wrangling children as well. It helps keep things organized. Absolutely get it. I haven’t had need of the Pro service bundle yet so I can’t speak to the functionality, but when I do need it, I will, in all probability, purchase the Pro account.
The New Standard
by Catwiddabat on 2014/02/14 05:18
Short and sweet: Could easily become the new standard for next-generation filmmakers. Worth the money, some minor bugs, but the creators are great about taking and responding to feedback. Get this app. My background: I've been ADing/Directing films for 6 years. Features, shorts and music videos. More Details: worth every penny. As an AD, I can't tell you how much time I've lost trying to calculate the answer to that awful question producers ask: "how far behind are we?" Now, no matter how flipped over and turned around the day is, I don't have to waste precious processing power coming up with an answer. I just used this app for the first time on a very intense shoot involving stunts, VFX, SFX etc. I worked the entire job from my phone. I don't even have an iPad. I love this app and I want everyone to use it.
The only Pro tool on the market
by S_Shapson on 2014/02/13 03:15
I'm a freelance AD and Director, and I've found shot lister to be far and away the best solution for the indie filmmaking. The tools available not only emulate the industry standard, they give the industry standard functionality to aspire towards. Re: pricing. I'm sorry but the only thing outrageous about the cost is that it's not more. How many people make films? How many of those filmmakers have to deal with the schedule directly? Now of those few who remain, how many have the need to change up their craft with new technology? This apps market is about as niche as you get, yet it aspires for so much more.
Like the app BUT the Pro Subscription is dumb
by InuManiac on 2014/01/30 07:14
I don't like subscription based features. This is stupid. I'd rather pay a flat fee for the pro version then have it be subscription based. I like to completely own things rather then paying as I use it. Those pro features are wonderful, but I'm not paying $20 per year for just that!
Way to Expensive for way to many bugs!
by FilmPro78 on 2014/01/28 15:17
Want my money back. Has potential to be a really powerful program if it didn't have so many bugs. Fix it.
On its way to becoming the epicentre of my studio
by James and Miranda on 2014/01/21 19:57
I've researched dozens of apps big and small from celtx, final draft and adobe story to little apps like producer and directors notebook (?) if you want to build a list of accurate shots and schedule for your team to nail everything this is the FASTEST and CLEAREST way to do so using the iPad. It needs lists for "crew" and other types of gear but those will hopefully come.
Amazing app
by BBKosmogos on 2014/01/07 20:49
This is an essential app for every director, producer, AD and scripty on set! I can't live without it. The LIVE view is amazing. It's pretty smooth and intuitive to shuffle shots and schedules around. The storyboard and script integration with dropbox is a huge plus. Sharing with other department heads is essential. What's not to love about this thing??? 5 stars!
Worth every penny
by Kirby Erick on 2013/12/29 18:05
I strongly recommend you buy this app. Ignore the people complaining that it doesn't have storyboard unless you pay extra, because this app isn't a story board. This is a SHOT LISTER. For those of you that can't draw this is PERFECT! I use this app in addition to a drawn out storyboard and couldn't be happier. The scheduling is a life saver. We'll worth it.
Cool, but expensive
by colton gatlin on 2013/12/17 19:44
It's a very cool app, but it promotes the story board drawing in the pictures...it costs $17.99/yr to be able to use this function. Overall ok, would've went elsewhere had I known the drawing was extra. Not worth the extra money when you can get a different app for cheaper with that function.
Nice product..Pro version annoying
by pt_8string on 2013/11/30 07:32
While this is a great little app for anyone shooting video in a production team, the fact that much of the funtionality requires an expensive "pro" version makes it less than great for those of us wanting to get aquainted with it first. I suppose there arelots of folks out there that will just sign up. But you may want to add it after having we have some time to try it.
Great Potential!
by skywangfilm on 2013/11/26 04:55
Although I'm not a big fan of their subscription service, and I think it is clearly a little overpriced for something they could have just included in the app. I still believe this app fills a hole in this category. As far as I know, no other app can do what this app does for filmmakers. For the next update, I'd like to see if you could add the ability to see the script along with shots. That'd make this app just that much better, and if you stick with the subscription plan, then it should be included as a feature.

I can’t live without my Shotlister and don’t know how I managed to get by without it prior to installing. Support and service are always just an email away. You can tell that the folks behind this app actually developed it for their own use, based on their experiences. Highly recommended for use by anyone working in production.
Make storyboard feature subscription free
by SilwalB on 2017/08/08 03:51
It is quite a handy tool but developers should really make storyboard feature subscription free and bring other premium features subscription based. This will make users choose this one over others.
Super helpful app
by Klab19 on 2019/10/29 03:13
Downloaded the app for an upcoming shoot. It has great functionality and is super helpful during the pre-production process. It helps you get organized and can be used across devices and among multiple crew members. Definitely worth it!
Awesome!

Love this app. Makes it incredibly easy to come up with a shot list. Very intuitive and solid tutorials on the website. Would like to be able to add some more customizable shot columns (currently only has one), but overall great app!
So far so good
by Hooch224 on 2017/06/14 07:16
This is my second time using this program as a director. I love how I can import directly from a final draft file and it populates my scenes. I have not tried cross device syncing so can not speak to this issue. Definitely worth the yearly rate.
Great Tool
by Timrap123 on 2020/03/25 20:07

Very Good App
by Deespuriel on 2019/05/27 01:31
I love this app and will probably get the desk top version as well. Pretty easy to navigate and has pretty mush all the features you need Small gripe you have to go an additional screen to see all of the info but not much else to complain about.
Great app for a DP

to support the creativity of its creators. (Suggested to me on twitter by devs) Turns out I not only needed it but I LOVE IT! by Boosh!! on 2015/06/23 17:51
I’m the director of a new online series called "47 Secrets to a Younger You".
Unbelievably Good App!
by cxrx2 on 2013/07/16 23:48
I could not even begin to detail how useful and how well-designed this app is. Creating a shot list and putting together a shooting schedule can be such a headache, but Shot Lister makes the process way easier by being so simple to use and intuitive. Now I can focus on designing a good shot plan, instead of worrying about formatting a spreadsheet. (See ya later, Excel, I won't miss you.) The price might scare some people, but believe me, it's more than worth the money. If a software giant like Adobe put out an application of this caliber, it would easily cost a couple hundred dollars. Right now, I'm just starting out as a filmmaker, but I plan on using this app pretty much forever, no matter the size of my project.
Best shot listing app out there!
by Tattooed_Video_Boy on 2012/11/09 16:03
Picked this up after reading a great review on NoFilmSchool back in September. Tried it on a 30 minute short shoot that we were doing at a breakneck pace and it was a lifesaver! I've used the other competitor's apps and they fall so short of this it's sad. Shot Lister not only allowed me to quickly and easily set up my shot lists (and generate a great looking PDF to send out to cast and crew), but it's time feature really, REALLY helped keep us on track! I've used it on every shoot I've had since then, and I simply won't work without it anymore. It's an invaluable tool in a business where time really is money. You will love this app! Don't wait, just get it and use it!
Dang Good
by Thaddeus Crunch on 2015/01/16 18:46
I just started using ShotLister on a project of mine and it’s already a must have tool.
Invaluable
by Ttime003 on 2012/12/22 20:21
Being a DP, I love being organized and knowing what I need to prepare for each shot and each day. The director and I find this app invaluable to make sure we are on the same page and to make our shooting days that much easier. There are so many things I like about this app: -the ability to see each shot of each scene -the ability to customize the fields that are important to me -the ability to create a custom field -the ability to put a time frame on each shot -the scheduler that shows total time and scheduled time -the ability to move the shot list around on the fly -the beauty and ease of the overall interface -the ability to EASILY share the file with someone else -the ability to export a PDF file showing the daily shot list -the tutorials are informative, to the point and easy to follow The additions I would like to see are to ability to incorporate storyboarding and to share in the cloud (like another user suggested). Thanks for the great app and I look forward to the updates!
FINALLY!
by Rebecca Murray on 2014/06/20 12:32
I've tried other shot organizing apps but this is the only one that works for me.
Wonderful!
by Zoomrix on 2012/12/19 21:16
This is a life saver for independent film makers like myself. We do a lot of film races where we are racing against the clock to put out a final product in very little time. Shot Lister provided a speedy and beautiful way to create all the shot lists AND schedule out each day in pre-production. During actual production, we were able to keep on track with our shots and see how we were doing in terms of time. And when we sent off the final PDF document with all the shot info, our assistant editor was able to log all the shots in seconds. I wouldn't hesitate for a second on getting this beautiful app. It is such a pleasure to use!

Great Tool
by Timrap123 on 2020/03/25 20:07
This is a great and convenient app for filmmakers.

Sort of makes me think these 'testimonials' are fake ones.

by C-Bisher Man on 2016/01/28 03:02
I would give it 5 stars -- if it were not for the fact that when typing in text in the description that your text disappears if your sentence is too long.
This version crashes
by ASB_Cine on 2015/11/04 13:42
I love this app, but this version crashes on startup on my iPhone 6s plus. Bummer. Download with caution.
Efficient And Well Designed
by Ambient_Green on 2015/05/05 15:33
This app works great and does everything I could hope for. It makes creating schedules and shot lists a breeze. When I ran into a problem I was able to contact support and they identified the bug and fixed it right away. Great team behind this app.
Worked but then didn't
by Blueguju on 2015/05/01 14:42
It started working great but when I went to go put in shots for a scene, all I got were spinning circles and no storyboards that were already part of the shots. Make it work!!
Amazing...
by IndieWhip on 2015/04/24 01:49
The app is amazing and super simpler to use.
For Filmmakers of all kinds!!!
by Breakdown513 on 2015/01/06 14:45
This is truly a tool any director should have on a shoot.

It works!
by kenolin on 2014/05/16 19:46
This is a very efficient, comprehensive, and worthwhile tool.

I can’t live without my Shotlister and don’t know how I managed to get by without it prior to installing. Support and service are always just an email away. You can tell that the folks behind this app actually developed it for their own use, based on their experiences. Highly recommended for use by anyone working in production.
Great Product

This app is an incredible tool for DPs and ADs alike. It’s great for projects that involve a lot of planning, however it’s not quite as useful if the director or DP doesn’t like to plan the shots out in detail. The customer support is fantastic and the developers truly care about making sure that people have good experiences with the app. Definitely worth every penny.
Awesome!
by Kevinlmounce on 2017/05/14 01:36
Love this app. Makes it incredibly easy to come up with a shot list. Very intuitive and solid tutorials on the website. Would like to be able to add some more customizable shot columns (currently only has one), but overall great app!
So far so good
by Hooch224 on 2017/06/14 07:16
This is my second time using this program as a director. I love how I can import directly from a final draft file and it populates my scenes. I have not tried cross device syncing so can not speak to this issue. Definitely worth the yearly rate.
Great Tool
by Timrap123 on 2020/03/25 20:07
This is a great and convenient app for filmmakers. My one small problem is that I had slight difficulty trying to share my projects across all my devices but I figured it out pretty quickly - no big deal:)
Very Good App
by Deespuriel on 2019/05/27 01:31
I love this app and will probably get the desk top version as well. Pretty easy to navigate and has pretty mush all the features you need Small gripe you have to go an additional screen to see all of the info but not much else to complain about.
Great app for a DP
by Tman43211 on 2019/11/04 00:02
This App is great for DPs, cinematographers, production. I was able to build my shoot day and then sync in my producer so they could make changes as needed. Really like the storyboard/script integration as well. So far so good.
Super Helpful App!
by LJGPHOTO on 2019/10/08 06:12
Once you get the hang of the app it’s amazing. I prefer to use the desktop app and then sync it to IOS for day of shoot. Awesome that you can import storyboards.
Works great
by Deji B on 2019/10/02 00:29
I have been using this for a while and I really like it. I enjoy being able to rearrange the schedule in the fly.
Great app, Great Support
by xx Beta Max xx on 2019/10/21 22:44
App works great, super organized, very valuable to each job and production. The support is world class, instant response and quick fix to any issue.
So useful!
by KingOfHeartsFilms on 2020/02/25 02:05
This app is solid! It’s a real help organizing shots, timing, and creative choices needed to crush a production!
Lost whole day of work
by schquidvard on 2019/09/06 16:29
It is very easy to press Sync from Crew Server instead of Publish to Crew Server resulting in a loss of all shots and scenes not already published. Make it harder to mess this up!
CHEERS!!
App always crashes
by supersniffer123 on 2019/09/18 03:07
This app has great potential but the developer really needs to fix the issue with the app crashing all the time
DOES NOT OPEN ON IPHONE 8
by Farm3r_T3d on 2017/12/31 01:25
This is a non-functional app. It worked, and still works on my iPhone 5s but immediately crashes on my new 8Plus. Please update app. For a subscription based app there should be frequent updates.
Doesn’t Open Anymore
by irurjbr on 2018/07/03 09:56
App worked great until it crashed and never opened again. Where have the new updates gone?
Great App
by Incurious Films on 2020/02/06 04:51
It’s a great app, it would be awesome to sync the files in the icloud besides Dropbox
Constantly Closing
by d.flugowski on 2019/11/09 20:16
App is great... when it’s not randomly shutting down on me.
App is Crashing - Unusable

Exactly what we needed. Worked great!
Undeveloped app don't waste your money
by ninja brc on 2017/07/30 16:59
PDF wouldn't export the whole scenes. Formatting looks unusable. Waste of money
Invaluable
by Ttime003 on 2012/12/22 20:21
Being a DP, I love being organized and knowing what I need to prepare for each shot and each day.
Wonderful!
by Zoomrix on 2012/12/19 21:16
This is a life saver for independent film makers like myself.
