Great App !!!
New user review
by mousedtre on 2019/06/19 20:51
I found the app is very easy to use as a “non- technology savvy senior citizen”. I, however could not locate a volume control which is a feature I like with audio books. Thanks JMcD

I normally listen to audiobooks through the library, but didn’t want to wait for One Day in December to become available, so I downloaded this. It’s much better than any other app and way more user friendly!

I recently joined audiobooks again and I honestly don’t know why I left lol. It’s affordable and they offer a great choice of books. I have to drive a lot for work so i love the fact that I can listen to books while I drive. Currently I’m listening to Normal People by Sally Rooney.

So far they've had everything I've wanted to listen. The quality is as good as the other app. The real plus is the free public books.

I have been looking for a way to listen to books while I am cleaning my house and cooking dinner and this app has been perfect. I love reading but don’t have a ton of time with all my kids so this is a great way to get in two things at once.
Time saver
by subway thursdays on 2019/06/19 02:31
I’m starting a new job in the fall as an 8th grade ELA teacher. I need to pre-read so many novels this summer that we will use in the classroom. I was able to finish one of the novels in just two days. I would never have that kind of time to sit and read a book. I just played the book while I was cleaning and organizing my basement. Amazing time-saver for a busy mommy and teacher! I do wish you could purchase each book separately instead of paying the monthly subscription.
Great Resource!!!
by hparnell on 2019/06/18 23:48
This is my favorite app for audiobooks. The interface is easy to use and works well, even using with Bluetooth in the car. I also love that you can use credits from right inside the app.

I started with “The Three Body Problem”. So far, I am very impressed with AudioBooks.com. Furthermore, their free monthly book list, has actual books you would want to read (unlike their competitors).
Good app!
by Dreeeeeeeeeea559 on 2019/06/18 14:50
I love being able to listen to audiobooks while I’m at work. I’m the type of reader that struggles to put a book down so it makes it much easier to get work done while I listen to the book so I don’t get fired for reading on the job 😂 my only issue is the 2nd book I looked for after downloading the app wasn’t in there, so I’m not sure how the selection is going to be but I can make do!
Impressed
by deansuzanne on 2019/06/18 14:46
I just trialed this app because I wanted to listen to an audiobook and they had a great deal. I just signed up for a free trial and I so far have been impressed with the quality and selection of books.
App itself is a winner
by Sadyies on 2019/06/18 08:03
I downloaded this app to hear the book that I could not find on another service. The King by J.R. Ward. The book flowed flawless. The only downside I foresee with this service is the # of books you can listen to a month without incurring additional fees. I listen to about 7-10 books a month, so it would get pricey. But the app itself is a winner!
Lots of options

Excellent app for me
by Blbayuk on 2019/06/16 23:55
I used Audible in the past, but found I enjoyed reading books more than listening at that time. Recently I have a need to listen more since minor eye surgery. Using Audiobooks seems more friendly to me than my past experience. I recommend Audiobooks to everyone.

This service includes some authors that are historically hard to find. Very happy they have some.
Nice selection of books

Well Done!
by Colorado Dave on 2019/06/16 19:52
Audiobooks.com mobile app is clean, intuitive and filled with just the right amount of features. I find they offer some titles that others do not. Would like to see them offer a daily deal. All around, extremely well done.

Great Functionality
by |)Rock on 2019/06/16 18:44
Overall, this is a really good app. It has great functionality and I really like that, unlike Audible, I can use my credits within the app. I’ve also used the Scribd app in the past and whenever I adjust the volume in my car it pauses the app, which is really frustrating. I never have that issue here though, which is great. As I said the app has great functionality, but there are a few things in the UI that didn’t seem the most intuitive to me as I read Gregg Horowitz’s Out of the Dark. First, the “hamburger” icon on the top right opens the left side nav, which is both unexpected an unintuitive. There’s also kind of a high learning curve remembering where the wish list is. I expected this to be just another item listed within the side nav, but you have to tap on My Books to get to it. When you think about it, this is a very logical and useful place since it allows you to more easily compare what books you have now with what you want to read in the future, but I find I have to poke around almost every time to remember where it is.
Great app!

by EJS1215 on 2019/06/16 01:33
Audiobooks is a fantastic app. I think the price you pay is great! At the moment I am in my 30 day free trial and I love that I have full access to the site during the trial. I love that audiobooks will give you opportunities to earn free credits. I really love the feature that allows you to speed up the readings. Overall, it’s a great app for the price and easy to use!

I got a free trial and was happy to download Lake of Sorrows by ErIn M. Hart, a wonderful archeological mystery set in Ireland. It wasn’t available on some of the other apps or on my library e-audiobooks. The app is straightforward and I like the feature that it rewinds just a bit when one returns to the app from an absence. It also seems to work with my car Bluetooth (which has some flaws) better than the other subscription services.
The Polished Hoe by Austin Clarke
by Iamelizabeth on 2019/06/15 13:32
I have been switching back and forth from reading a physical book when I settle down to listening when I am on the go. I wish there was a better way of finding a place in a book that does not have chapters. But overall I really love the soothing voice of the narrator very much!
Love it!
by Corinne531 on 2019/06/15 12:50
I just finished listening to Where the crawdads sing. And it was amazing. Had a plot twist at the end that I didn’t see coming. Definitely helps time pass while I’m working third shift.
Reading Made Easy!
by JRW 041963 on 2019/06/15 06:28
My son recently purchased three books for me to read that have meant a great deal to him and the formation of his world view. I drive a lot on a daily basis so I have plenty of time listen to books and far less time to actually read books. As a matter of fact, it has been years since I sat down and read a book for myself. This app has made joining my son in his journey possible and I’m grateful it is available and so easy to use. I click the button on my headset and the app takes off playing right were I stopped the time before. Simply put, this app is simple and enjoyable to use!
Love more then expected!
by CapMomToBbyPisces on 2019/06/15 05:02
I’ve always considered myself a person who loves the feel of the look in their hands. But I have really enjoyed the opportunity of listening to someone else read to me!! Weather I am sitting down at home relaxing or driving in my car. I love this app. Plus my son doesn’t mind listening. It actually relaxes him. That is a plus(he’s two)!

Let me first off say that I absolutely love this app. Audiobooks have so many books on there app compare to most audio apps there was one book i was searching for and couldn’t find it no where until I downloaded this app, I was super excited and they gave me a free credit too. All the customers service staff are really helpful and nice, plus the wait time isn’t long either.

Does what it’s supposed to, has every book
by Zactyz on 2019/06/14 19:49
I have been listening to Five Kingdoms by Brandon Mull, and I gotta say, this app is solid. The free two credits right away are great and you can trust that once you get a book you will always have access to it. My only complaint would be the interface, which could be a little updated (as compared to competing apps), and also more reliable functionality (going back/forward) from toolbar and Waze. Overall good!
well designed
by kleonardkc on 2019/06/14 19:35
Switched to this app from audible because it’s easier to use!
Not happy at all with the app or the service.
by jhfrank87 on 2019/06/14 03:43
First, the app itself. The chapters are broken up into tracks which are labeled simple “track 1, track 2, etc.” That would be fine if it corresponded to chapter numbers, but no; it’s also random paragraph breaks. And the tracks start about 1-2 minutes after the narrator announces the chapter number. So it makes it almost impossible to navigate through the audiobook. This alone warrants a low review for me. UPDATE: in response to the developer, the same book on other platforms is broken up by chapters and labeled accordingly, so there’s clearly something different about audiobooks.com. I signed up for the free trial, and when my trial was almost up, I decided I didn’t want to continue and pay for the service. So I’m the app there is a switch that says “automatically add credits,” a credit being the way you get access to books. So I turned that off, assuming that a credit would not be added to my account automatically. But then I got charged for a month after my trial was up. I complained about it and was told that you have to go on the website and unsubscribe, and basically in so many words that what I assumed was just invalid. They did refund my money, but not without basically telling me I was wrong.

I ADORE THIS SERVICE!!!
by Rrwalton on 2019/06/13 22:17
I just began listening to audiobooks with this app, and I have to say that it is fantastic. The app is very user/reader friendly, you can build your profile, bookmark sections of your audiobooks, etc. The selection is remarkable in that it can compete quite well with, (and even surpass) some of the other audiobook apps that spring to mind. 5 stars all the way around, and I have already recommended them to friends and family 😊.
Awesome
by Just406 on 2019/06/13 22:15
This app works great! Listening to Fires of Heaven and it has clear audio. I love how easy it is to use this app.
Poor Experience
by cb43568 on 2019/06/13 22:08
My experience hasn’t been great. I’ve been listening to Elantris by Brandon Sanderson, and I’ve experienced three issues that degrade my user experience. 1. Every time I open the app, my progress in the book is lost. The book begins playing from a spot around the 29 minute mark. 2. When I pause and resume, the app frequently jumps to a place in the book a few minutes ahead or behind my current place. 3. The app frequently reports a loss of network connection even though I still have a network connection.
JUST GET IT!

I decided to go with audiobooks.com for my son who has dyslexia. Being able to listen to Space Case while looking at the book has helped him tremendously. He is able to follow along, understand and recall the story. I am so happy that I went with audiobooks.com for our audio books because it was quick and easy to use. Other companies who are geared toward children just didn’t offer what we needed. He already has his next book picked out and is (for the first time) excited to read! Thank you!

Accessible even when phone is locked. So convenient
by Aswini Kurian on 2019/06/12 17:35
I just downloaded audiobooks and got the 2 books for a new member offer. Plus a book from VIP rewards. I like that I can download the books and read anytime. I also like that I can listen to the books when my phone is locked. On the locked screen itself I can see options to pause/play and to go forward and backward 30 seconds. This is so convenient. Because I listen to the books most of the time while cosleeping with my kids in bed. All I have to do is plug in my headphones and listen. Currently I am reading the latest book by EL James ‘The Mister’. I have to say that you can contact customer care from the app itself and they reply within an hour. So far so wonderful!
Great Layout, Straightforward

Simple, Clean, Accessible Experience
by SA Pendergast on 2019/06/11 14:13
I am a long time user of Audible, and have recently been exploring for alternatives to the somewhat not-so-streamlined and at times cumbersome audible app. I drive quite a bit including work, visiting family, or just as a relaxing activity (standard transmission folks, try it), and the bulk of my driving is soundtracked by audiobooks and podcasts (when I can find one worth sinking teeth into, see: Rabbits Podcast). That being said I was becoming very tired of Audible’s at least once daily crashing, odd “load times” that should not exist when titles are already downloaded on my device, so on and so forth. So, despite being relatively well immersed in the Amazon ecosystem with FireStick, Fire Tablet as a “traveling alternative” to my trusty yet expensive iPad, Prime and so on, I’ve begun trying out other audiobook services, and came upon this app. I have only used Audiobooks.com for about a week at this juncture, however the experience has been overwhelmingly positive. I’ve had no random and while driving app crashes, app doesn’t struggle to load different screens or sections, and its relatively easy to tell when a current chapter is over (although it would be somewhat better if it was immediately visible without having to click track times, but this is minor). I enjoy the full bottom screen ribbon as opposed to a tile the size of a pinkie nail to navigate back to current book. Very easy to check and navigate to other chapters if necessary. Sleep timer is intuitive with a nice end of chapter option if you enjoy listening while winding down at night. I also very much like the touch of being able to tap the book art that takes up a third of my plus size iPhone screen to play/pause as opposed to finding the play button; small but nice accessibility. The selections and suggestions/lists seem well put together but I have not had much time to peruse. Wish list feature is a nice one click and easy to find. My only legitimate gripe at this point, and again I need to test the app further and more extensively, is that thus far I cannot find a way to see prices for books before pushing the download button and then reading an odd tiny paragraph with words jumbled with the actual price (or 1 credit of course). This is somewhat of a fumble, but seeing as 1) the Audible app has ZERO direct purchasing capability which is infuriating and 2) I very rarely attempt to download/purchase books while I am driving, this is only a moderate inconvenience at best. In all, if you are looking for an alternative to Audible or simply a different experience, I would recommend giving Audiobooks.com a shot. Again, I have not lived with it very long and am unsure if this will result in a full switch from Audible, synchronous use, or otherwise, but I am certainly enjoying it so far. It does what it needs to well, simply, and doesn’t try to do too much and become buggy and bogged down or crowded.

I just signed up and got The Scribbly Man by Terry Goodkind. This hasn’t crashed on me once unlike other apps. Will definitely continue using. Highly recommend.
Great app!
by Lwestbrook78 on 2019/06/10 15:05
Gives you exactly what you pay for. No hidden charges, no “you can only get these books, not those”.
I like this very much.

It's seems to be a dandy app! I read Siege: Trump Under Fire by Michael Wolff. It was quite good.
Better than most

I’ve had issues with every audiobook app I’ve found but I really like this one. It’s easy to use and slightly cheaper than the one I used before. Great selection too
So far so good
by allidawg6516 on 2019/06/10 02:10
Books download quickly and i haven’t had any problems with the app! The best part is you can actually purchase the books from the app! I recommend so far.
Good App and straight forward business model
by Raider Torch on 2018/01/23 01:53
I recently switched back to Audiobooks from another similar service/app. The other one was cheaper, but it turns out you get what you pay for. Other service randomly denied the books I was right in the middle of and took a few days to fix the issue that came with an update. The other part that really drove me away was I had banked up a few credits, as I listen to about 1 book in a little over a month, I had the service stop charging me so I could catch up. They cut off my whole service in the process. I had to keep my service charging me to finish the book I was in the middle of and then leave a credit behind when I left their service. Audiobooks has never cut me off mid book. Their business model views credits you’ve purchased as yours and honors their use regardless of whether you commit to remaining a customer. I will gladly pay the extra few dollars a month for that level of service to finish the series I’m halfway through, The Sword of Truth (I’m up to Chainfire now).
Audiobooks so far is the best!
by skylermarie39 on 2018/03/15 22:22
I don’t have a ton to say just yet, as I am new to audiobooks. But I used to have audible for couple years and it was ok but audiobooks offers so much more especially with the use of their app. I really like the features much better for instance just to name a couple the sleep timer since I listen every night which last I checked audible didn’t have since I fall asleep during listening it makes it much easier to find where I left off instead of continuing to play only to wake up to see the book is finished and have to try and remember where I left off. Also like the ease of fast forwarding and track list. I decided recently to try and find audio app that better suited me so I decided to give audiobooks also another one a try to see if I liked them better or if I should just go back to my old subscription. And as of right now I’m definitely leaning towards audiobooks. I definitely like it best of the three I have tried.
So far so good
by J.Wood1023 on 2017/10/11 23:34
I just got this app yesterday but so far so good. There is one feature I can’t seem to find and am slightly annoyed by. However that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, but if it does I wish it was easier to figure out. Here it is, it seems like you get to select a playback option in the settings (for example mine is 30 seconds) but after you choose it seems you’re stuck with just that option. Sure change it again but I’d like to be able to go back 30 seconds AND go back a chapter. There doesn’t seem to be an easy way to restart a chapter or select a chapter specifically. Now like I said I haven’t spent any time looking for any tips or instructions for using this app, so maybe it’s right there and I haven’t realized it yet. But if that’s the case then I’d say this app is quite similar to audible, but not as user friendly in that way. Still, I’d recommend this app for anyone wanting to listen to audiobooks. The playback thing is minor and may not bother most people so clearly they’re doing everything else ok, so worth a download if you’re interested in audiobooks.
App is annoying
by D'shiz on 2017/12/14 05:34
The product is great. Who doesn’t love audio books. And these guys have an ok selection. But the app functions like crap. I always download a book I’m listening to, never stream. And yet this app is nonstop trying to connect to the net. If you drive through a low signal area you will constantly be fumbling with your phone to restart your book and find your spot. This is very annoying and distracting while driving. The app has overlong pauses between saved files that are totally unnecessary, it really takes away from the flow of the story even when it’s a great reader. I have some 30 odd books from this company even tho I’ve stopped my monthly subscription. It always annoys me when I have to come back to this app. Wish I could listen to them through any of my other audio book apps. “Response” I have more than sufficient room on my iPhone. And this is every book every time. There is absolutely no reason your app needs to connect to the net non-stop whyle I’m listening to my book and yet it is constantly checking for a connection. It’s a shame, I entered the audio book world with this app and my Love for books made me overlook these issues. As I’ve branched our to other apps I’ve been shown how lacking this one is.
When you think about it, this is a very logical and useful place since it allows you to more easily compare what books you have now with what you want to read in the future, but I find I have to poke around almost every time to remember where it is.
well written app designed to be the best on the market
by 518& on 2017/11/27 03:48
it’s clear that this small audiobooks company goes out of its way to make the user experience the best in the industry. When compared to the audiobooks app offered by Apple and other competitors it has thawed out what makes a better product. The limitations of having one device to hold one audiobook by Apple is vastly Limiting in the age of 2018. The customer service offered by this small upstate New York company is superior to all other companies on the market. Whenever I have called with a problem they go out of their way to be helpful and find a solution, which addresses my problem even if they don’t have a design solution. whenever I’ve asked for an answer to a problem they have truly been helpful. It’s always inspiring when a small business tries hard to help their customers. Keep up the good work and positive business attitude.
Audiobooks Virgin River by Robyn Carr
by LCDairy on 2017/11/16 13:18
I have about a 45 minute drive to and from work every day, so that’s 1 1/2 hours of listening to radio stations that get fuzzy or have commercials. I decided to try Audiobooks and much to my surprise, I actually get excited about my drive now. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the book. I’m not fidgeting with the car radio trying to see which station isn’t fuzzy. I’m currently listening to Virgin River by Robyn Carr. I just read the paperback versions of the 2nd and 3rd books in the series but didn’t have the first book in paperback, so I decided to use my trial credit to get the first book. I love this! The female voice who reads is amazing. She can change her pitch for each character and has a great quality to her voice. She knows just the right times to emphasize certain parts. It’s wonderful. If only the price was a little lower it would be perfect.
Great App
by Kat18328 on 2017/10/27 16:21
So far this app has been great. It has clear sound, isn't glitchy and it has not froze up on me. So far they have had every book I have searched that I would be interested in listening to. The app itself runs smootly and is easy to figure out. I started my trial by listening to The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer. It was my book groups book this month and I had started reading it but needed to listen to it while getting things done if I was going to finish it in time. That being said the one thing that I wish I could have done in this app is to jump to a different chapter easliy. I wanted to start listining where I had left off reading. I eventually found my spot but it would have been nice to just be able to pick which chapter to start on. But everything else so far has been great about the app so I am still giving it a 5 star rating.
Great Ap!
by Whatnameisntalreadytaken? on 2017/12/14 02:46
We downloaded My Inventions by Nikola Tesla for a book report for my teen who was having a hard time getting motivated to read (even though he is extremely interested in Tesla). What a great decision that was! The ap, payment (through PayPal), and downloading the book was super easy and super fast. We were halfway through the book an hour later. I really enjoyed being able to experience the book with him. It gave us lots to talk about and I learned some stuff too (that man was super-human. Wow). I can’t wait to download more books and listen to them in my car while waiting for kids at lessons or while I’m sitting in traffic. I have so many on my list. I’ve tried several other audio book type apps- including public library apps and the popular fall backs, but I have to say this has been the best experience overall in comparison.
You will never know!

My brother is blind and a paraplegic from a MVA 49 years ago. He always has used books on tape that he would receive to/from the State Commission for the Blind. With that being said there library of books was limited. He also often at times was waiting days/weeks for new books because of the mail system. He currently is in Intensive care so I downloaded your app so he could continue to listen to books. He and I both were amazed at the number of audio books available! The ease of use of the app on my phone was great. We ordered him a Kindle Fire with Alexa so he can use the app independently by himself. Thank you very much on behalf of my brother! Most people don’t realize the “need” for audio books when it applies to a person who has lost their sights. Greatly appreciative, Renae Ward and John Curnutt
Trial review
by Tsteckler33 on 2019/05/30 00:41
Signed up for the free trial to see how this stacks up to Audible. I like the user interface and main screen as it is a little easier to navigate and not as clunky as the Audible one. The display of my library is also convenient and easy to slide through and pick the title I’m looking for. The only downside right now which is why I can only give it 3 stars is the lack of books available that I am looking for. There seems to be no shortage for big author names and best sellers, but I have struck out with more book series and authors that I was looking forward to listening to. I just got through the 6 Cradel books written by Will Wight and wanted to go back and read his earlier series. No luck on this app for Will at all or a few other authors that I was searching for. Easy to use and pleasant experience so far, but the lack of titles and authors will likely lead me back to Audible until the library selection has had the opportunity to expand.
A solid alternative to Audible
by EvilSteveReviews on 2017/12/25 00:41
I recently made the switch from Audible just to give Audiobooks a try. I’m very happy with the selection and found a bunch of treasures in their free section that I’m so excited to get to. My first book with Audiobooks is the second book in the King Killer series by Patrick Rothfuss, The Wise Man’s Fear. I’ve just started it and have 43 epic hours to go! The Audiobooks App isn’t as intuitive as Audible but is easy enough to figure out. Buying a book automatically starts a download, and I didn’t want each one to download right away so it took a bit to negotiate that challenge. Also there isn’t an intuitive “back” button in many circumstances; you have to access the menu to go back to where you were previously. If you’re thinking about trying Audiobooks, I recommend that you do. I think you’ll be happy with the selection and app once you figure it out!
Good selection and easy functionality
by dpd95 on 2018/05/30 16:03
So far I have not had any problems with the app. It is easy to use and I like that I can rewind 30 seconds by just pressing a button. I listen a lot while driving, so sometimes I miss things. This function comes in handy. I also like the sleep timer because it is sooo easy for me to fall asleep while listening in bed! This keeps me having to find my place the next day to a minimum. I have not found a driving mode that simplifies what shows on the screen, and I think that would be nice. I am listening to the Anita Blake series on the app. I’m currently on book 6: The Killing Dance. I read one review that said he/she has connection problems while driving even though the book is downloaded and not streamed. I have yet to have playback or connection problems since downloading books, even while driving the country roads of Arkansas.
Only one problem for a professional driver
by Nefarious42 on 2018/01/25 01:26
I’m an over the road truck driver and I like to listen to audio books as I travel down the highway. I had high hopes for this app but I’ve ran into a serious safety problem with it. While I’m driving and try to start or pause a audio book, I get a pop up message that my web connection is not strong enough to be able to stream the book, it says I need to download it. Then at the bottom there is a button to push labeled OK. I have already down loaded the book to my iPhone. However, even though I press the OK the message just pops back up preventing my ability to start or pause a book. I try multiple times but no luck. This is a very serious safety problem as I am paying to much attention to the problem with the app when I should be watching how I’m driving. As much as I wanted this to work, I am going to have to cancel my subscription, unless a solution can be found. I hope this review will be read by someone that can offer one.
Amazing app
by Maciasb on 2018/04/06 19:33
I have recently found myself with a overwhelming amount of inspiration to find self improvement and self reflection in my life. My first stop in this journey is productivity and knowledge. I found that not only can I use this app to multitask by engaging my brain while doing usually mindless tasks while listening to books that I enjoy learning from. Whether that be a self help book or self indulging book. I became such a fan of this app because it is easy and accessible and has any book you could ever want to get your hands on. It is probably the best use of my time and I highly recommend everyone to use this app especially if you are a busy person as it allows your free time to be productive and you don’t have to sit and take an hour to read a book when instead you can listen to it.
A simple, but sleek app
by Sheldon_Hyman on 2017/12/08 06:08
My job has me on the road for over 25 hours a week. Nothing is more writhing then sitting in traffic and listening to ten minutes of music and twenty of commercials. I needed more substance so I turned to audiobooks. I just finished listening to The Gathering Storm, the 12th book in the series of The Wheel of time. It was a beautiful work of art that was incomplete by the passing of the original author Robert Jordan. Brandon Sanderson stepped up and did the book and the series justice. The readers, Michael Kramer and Kate Redding, are fabulous and convey the emotions of the characters and the author’s mind’s eye. Without this app I would be lost in a sea of traffic, with it I have some solace. Download this app, which is incredibly easy to use and superior to anything else on the market, travel to other worlds, and experience new perspectives.

If you are like me, you love books but don’t always have the chance to sit down and read amidst the busyness of everyday life. With Audiobooks, you can listen on the go or whenever you have time (I’ve been listening to Call Me By Your Name in my car on the way to work, while I’m thrift shopping at Goodwill, and at night while I’m winding down in bed). The app is designed so that even the technologically challenged can maneuver it. In fact, I think I’m gonna download Audiobooks on my grandma’s phone to test this point... Anyways, 10/10 would recommend this app, it saves your bookmarks for you PLUS you get a free credit to download a book of your choice when you sign up (hence how I am able to listen to Armie Hammer’s dulcet tones read my favorite novel over and over... and over!)
Life saver
by Kitticath on 2019/03/18 15:03
Okay, that might be a bit extreme. My life wasn’t at stake or anything, though I’d be interested in what kind of choices would bring me to a situation where an app would change the course of fate and spare me from such demise... Anyway, this app really has been wonderful. I sit at a desk all day, so I try to get out and about to stretch my legs when I can. I used to manage about a ten minute walk at lunch before getting bored. Now, I just put on my headphones and cruise, and am spending my whole lunch hour walking to and around a nearby park. I get some exercise, which has helped me make other healthy choices, AND I’m totally breezing through my reading goals and books that I’ve wanted to read for years. Win win win. This app has a great selection, better than my local library (which is how I found the app to begin with). I’ve only listened to a couple books so far. Right now I’m on Theft of Swords by Michael Sullivan. But the quality is good and I haven’t had any trouble with the app itself. My one critique is that there doesn’t seem to be any navigation tools for either figuring out where I am in the book, or skipping back and forth between chapters. Other than that, no issues!
Audiobooks App is functional and does what it’s supposed to
by Sleepy Momma 1970 on 2018/01/08 18:22
The first book I listened to on this App was the new Dan Brown book, Origin. As a frequent user of audiobooks I found this app to be perfectly fine. A few suggestions: there seems to be an occasional glitch with the skip back and skip forward button that could be fixed. It would be nice to a time and date stamp for when bookmarks are created. Finally, the app occasionally asked me which of two recent bookmarks I wanted to start at when opening the app. But actually I just wanted to resume where I had left off and not at a specific bookmark. Sometimes the “pick up where I left off” feature wasn’t exactly smooth. The book itself was pretty good. A tad simplistic for a Brown book. But that’s not a bad thing because I didn’t need anything too complex right now anyway.
So far so good
by K Konnie K E on 2017/12/04 06:14
I recently downloaded this app about a month ago. Most of the free books are classics but some are new. The narrators are hit and miss as far as what you like to listen to - I’m quite particular about my narrators as I get bored easily. So far only one male narrator has a boring monotone voice and one female narrator has an annoying pitchy voice, but those are the free books and their narrators do the work for free so I guess you get what you pay for! The rest haven’t been bad. Also, you get to search based on narrator which is awesome. It takes a while for me to get through a book so one “free” book a month with membership may not seem like much but to me it’s just fine. I haven’t had enough time to really review a ton of books, so once I do, I’ll come back and adjust for time passed! As of right now though, it’s great! Enjoy!
Good app for audio books
by Kate193747 on 2017/12/27 14:37
I’m currently listening to The Blue Bistro on audiobooks. This is a good app to choose for audio books. The book selection is good and the app is easy to use and navigate. You can also purchase your audio books directly from the app, which you can't do in the audible app. Takes a lot of the hassle out of the process. My only negative feedback is that when I connect my phone in my car, the app takes a backseat to my music. I could be playing a book through my headphones, then go to connect to my car, and then book pauses and my music plays. Happens every time I plug into my car! This doesn't happen with the audible app. It's not a huge deal, but it is annoying.
Audiobook
by Yachther on 2017/10/11 15:15
I was pleasantly surprised with this app! It's nice to have options when it comes to listening to audiobooks, I feel like there aren't many reputable ones besides audible. My only complaint is that the search option isn't as simple and the categories aren't as helpful/specific. I found audiobooks online by accident when searching for a specific book-but then finding that book within the app was very difficult. I found the book I wanted (that was advertised on the website) only after searching within the app endlessly...failing to find it and then using my credit on another book. The search feature should lead you right to it! I wasn't spelling the title or the author incorrectly and I searched both multiple times. Right now I'm reading the power of habit by Charles duhigg.
Lovely app!
by KitsuneRei02 on 2017/10/25 01:28
I love reading, but I don’t always have the time to sit back and turn pages. That’s where audiobooks come in. I can listen while working, doing chores, exercising—there’s so many opportunities to tune into a good book! I’m trying out the free trial for this app and loving it so far. The audio is crisp and clear. I could make out every word even while doing dishes. I love that it gives you the options to speed up the tracks. Narrators sometimes are too slow, y’know? Most surprising, this is the best selection of audiobooks I’ve found outside of Audible. I’m currently listening to A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab, which I was shocked to find available. The only thing I would change about this service is to add more books, but they really do have a great selection as is. Give the free trial a whirl. It’s worth it.
Good but could be even better!
by PigletMom53 on 2018/04/07 17:17
I love being able to listen to my book while either in the car or doing things around the house. I just finished reading The Heart if Betrayal and I never had any issues with it. I thought this app worked very well. However, the one feature I wish it had was being able to see what chapter/page you are on. I like to switch between reading and listening to my book but it was very hard to know how far I’d gotten when listening. Lastly, I wish there was an app where you could either pay a monthly fee to listen to anything, or just buy each book individually instead of having to pay a monthly fee and then also buy each book on top of it. Overall a good app and a convenient way to listen to my books:)
Excellent for long drives.
by ALTOID766 on 2017/10/05 02:05
I just listened to The Blackthorn Key by Kevin Sands. It’s the 1st of a 3 book series (so far). I actually listened to the 3rd book which is The Assassin’s Curse when on a 10 hour ride with a friend. I asked him how we were listening to it and he told me it was an app called “Audiobooks’. I drive 5 times a year to S. Florida from N. Georgia. Now that’s 10 Times back and forth. I immediately downloaded “Audiobooks” app and started listening to the 1st book of the series. I’m hooked! I can’t wait to get the 2nd book of the series. (I might not wait till the next trip!). Excellent book and author (Kevin Sands) of course the app is great. Easy to get around. You can download or stream. I prefer to download on WIFI so I have it in my iPhone.
Super easy, great audiobook app
by Keefers1030 on 2017/09/25 01:18
I really like the ease of use and look of the app. It makes it fun to use and is pretty clear on where to find things if needed. The only downside, and they’re minor, are the rewind and pause interruption. The rewind is 30 seconds which I thought I would like, but I think it’s a little too long. Sometimes it takes me further back than I anticipated and I get lost. The other is that if a call, text, notification comes while the audiobook is narrating, it doesn’t stop exactly at that point-it goes about a second or two longer, which also gets confusing. That may be my car’s Bluetooth but I think it’s the app since I haven’t had that issue with other audiobook apps. All in all a good app for listening to an array of books.
Becoming a Contagious Christian
by Becaj68 on 2018/02/26 16:28
I am very please with my experience with the app and the book... I currently attending Leadership University and I work 2 jobs plus do ministry. And I was having a very difficult time doing all my reading. However the app and has help tremendously. I can hear this anywhere I go, whether I am driving or just sitting at my desk at work... If I have rewind or hear something over again it’s so simple... Audio speaks clearly and exactly what is in the book... This book is amazing it shows and teaches how to go out and a disciple and a witness for Christ. I highly recommend this book to any Christian believer. After you read this book you know and learn to be an evangelist for Christ
Trapped paying for a subpar selection
by Hahaha_laina on 2017/09/23 14:34
While I have also found the audiobook selection slim, the real issue is that the app and website make it nearly impossible to get them to stop charging you. Even with my account showing that it was "inactive" or "unsubscribed" and automatic payments turn OFF, the money kept coming out of my account each month. I reached out to customer service several times to clear this up with no luck. I am still waiting to be refunded for the times i was charged after "canceling" my account. Perhaps if they were offering a better selection or quality of service they wouldn't need to trap their customers. I also initially opened my account to redeem a "3 free audiobooks" card I received at a convention only to discover it was 3 of a very small, uninteresting selection. It all has been deceptive and manipulative and I can't imagine any reason to use this service over the great other ones that exist.
Good app
by Scooby23! on 2018/01/24 03:22
So far, this app has been handy to have. I listen to audiobooks on my long drive to and from work. The ability to download the book and listen offline is a must. This app allows for this. The volume is good for car travel too. I’ve listened to some apps where the volume is barely audible once the car is moving on the interstate, rendering the app mostly useless to me. This one is great! My only complaint is that when I receive a text or reminder, the app continues playing the book and softens the volume to the background. Then, I have to manually rewind 30 or so sec to find my place. It would be better if the audio stopped when this happens, then picks back up once the ringtone for my text or reminder finishes.
Convenience at its best
by The Dread Wolf on 2018/04/21 22:07
Audiobooks allows me to get the well spoken story of a novel just by listening, it’s very convenient to just pop up the app and start listening to some of my favorite books like “Without you there is no us” by Suki Kim, most importantly I’m able to listen to it in the car getting my read in for college while driving since time is critical I’m able to make the best of it by listening to it in a car ride very helpful for college also I find myself taking in more information by listening opposed to reading, I’m not much of a reader but listening I’m good at, it takes away the pain of reading with this incredible app.
Great app
by GuiPlayz on 2018/12/07 03:43
The only reason why this app is not a 5 star (in my opinion) is because of the 30 seconds backwards/forwards button. This is because if a reader misses a word or an important part of a long book, in which it is very difficult to manually go back to where you were just using the orange icon over time frame, it brings the audio 30 seconds back. This causes readers to waste many minutes (even a few hours) in total of just going back and trying to get back on track to where they were before. I believe the app should implement a 10-15 second button instead of thirty seconds , so it is an easier and more efficient way of listening to your favorite books. The app is good though :)
What sent me back to another well known audiobooks app...
by Anonymous12346779007533 on 2018/06/01 13:16
Honestly I originally preferred this app and hoped that updates would have made it a little better. When compared to other apps with better support/design its hard to continue being satisfied here. Simply put the best interface needs an overhaul. New library interface so I don’t have to slide to the left to get to my 20th or 75th book, no more “can’t connect to Internet” dialogue boxes, no more clunky goofy little bugs. Over time it gets annoying. It seems like nothing is streamline or intuitive. Yes I’m being nitpicky, but if you’re going to compete with an E-book/Audiobook giant, you better bring your A-team. I’ve had this app over a year and am switching now. Not a bad app, but seriously needs attention so the little bit important details get fixed. I may come back in the future.
Great app for listening to books
by starliz18 on 2018/03/26 18:16
I enjoy walking on my treadmill and listening to stories. I try and use a mix of podcasts and audio books. I was going through my public library for audio books but there selections were limited. Audiobooks has an amazing selection and so far I have found each book I’ve searched for. I’m currently reading All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda for my book club. I enjoy the female voice reading the book and the different voices she uses - especially for dialogue with the male characters. I also enjoy the thirty second back button for when my mind wanders and I need to just go back a tiny bit! Overall I have enjoyed it so far and plan to use it more in the future.
Easy to take notes!
by yuritziyperez on 2017/12/08 19:22
I downloaded this app because with finals around the corner and work, my hours are pretty limited and I wanted to use my commute to work to get through a book for my class. (The book is Tony Horowitz's Confederates in the Attic, which ended up reading like a travel documentary and was much more engaging than I thought it would be). I love the app. It's so, so easy to bookmark and take notes which is perfect for me. And I love that the app provides free books as well! My one frustration was that the book was divided in tracks rather than chapters, making it difficult to find a place in the book I hadn't bookmarked. Otherwise, very easy and cool app.
Audiobooks-Ready Player One
by calvin1mm on 2017/12/29 13:56
This past week was my first time using an audiobook service. But it was a life saver for the long holiday traveling I did by myself. Ready Player One by Ernest Kline was the first victim. It’s a worthy listen for anyone who is preparing for the social/economical/political/environmental crisis that happens in the future as we continue to meld virtual reality with reality. The app has a way of keeping book marks for you. However at one point I fell asleep and was wishing that there were chapter markers (maybe there are and I’m just stupid...also don’t sleep and drive) Overall audiobooks is definitely a worthy subscription to anyone that to actively drive a lot.
Travelers Dream
by Sparky78418 on 2018/06/04 18:25
The app is easy to use and the book selection is wonderful. It kills the long boring hours of traveling between job sites. Never have a problem of losing my place in the story...the app stops when I turn off my truck and picks up right where it left off when I go to leave the site. The audio quality is perfect and the download time (depending of WiFi and/or data speed on phone) is quick and the app shows you the percent downloaded. The monthly cost is not bad at all and if you do decide to cancel, you get to keep the books that purchased. A must have for commuters or job site travelers!!!
Easier to find books I like
by Milliken2018 on 2019/05/02 16:45
I like all audiobooks! I even wait on hold for some books through my local library website but sometimes I can’t wait! I always need to have an engaging book for my children’s activity commutes or something to distract me from mundane activities, like folding laundry! I think it’s way easier to find relevant books on this app because there’s less fluff and advertising. The only thing that I would change is to have less treble in the audiobooks, the vocals are almost TOO crisp and clear, so when I’m trying to listen to it low at night and not wake anyone, it is harder to disguise it.
Long time listener...
by Cookiewonder22 on 2018/09/16 19:55
I love listening to audiobooks and this app is as good as it gets. I find that I’m more active if I have a good audiobook to accompany me on my daily walks and it helps me stay motivated to get out more. I do not have a long commute for work but enjoy having an audiobook available anytime I’m in the car or just getting stuff done around the house. This app is better than others I’ve tried because most books are just one credit, including the one I’m enjoying right now, The Great Alone, by Kristin Hannah. I love how immersed in the story I feel when I can hear the voices of each character coming through my headphones. Enjoy!
No mess, No fuss
by AirBitter on 2018/03/08 18:51
It’s a simple app for a simple purpose. I listen to audiobooks during my long commute to work and this app loads quickly, plays the book where I left off (well, 30 seconds prior to where I left off which is nice for remembering what happened) and seems reliable in performance (read: hasn’t crashed on me). My only complaint is that the auto bookmarking could use some refinement but, effectively, it just asks me if I want to start listening at my recent bookmark or the prior one rather than resuming automatically at the last page I listened to and providing an option to go back earlier.
Ugh. Just. Ugh.
by NerdyPsycho on 2019/02/27 23:34
So I’m a 25 with disabilities that make it hard to sit down and actually read a book. I discovered Audible and fell in love, it has its issues but I can have my books again. I wanted to branch out to other audiobook apps and saw this one was highly rated. Excited to try I downloaded it. The problem started when I couldn’t create an account from the app. Had to get on the internet and create one. Ok. Cool not a big deal. Started creating my account but it will not accept my card. Frustrated but still ok I try using it with my PayPal. It still will not accept my payment. I have been fighting with this for the last 10-15 minutes. So guess I am only able to use one app and that is Audible. I am really disappointed that I am writing a bad review before I even get to try the app, especially since it had some books that peaked my interest.
Exactly what I’ve been looking for!!!!!!
by King Leonidas085 on 2018/07/31 21:49
After flirting with a few other audio book apps, I truly believe that my search is over!!! I love audiobooks for so many reasons.. The library is huge and extremely diverse. I also love how everything is so neatly organized and easy to navigate. But for me, what sealed the deal was the watch app. I love how I can leave my phone in the car, grab my AirPods and listen to my favorite book from my Apple Watch while I go for a walk. Currently I am reading “Making a Good Brain Great”, by Daniel G. Amen, and I am really enjoying it so far. There’s nothing better than the convenience of audiobooks. I love it.
Nurse Traveller
by Nurse Traveller MJG on 2018/04/15 13:57
I read a large amount in print books, love to have the book in my hand. I travel plenty for work, so thought audio books would be useful. I’m trying to re-read all the classics and figured this could be a good pairing. Wow! How amazing to happen upon this combo. I just completed Iliad and Odyssey, a 25 hour book. I’ve realized that listening to this type of content will be far superior than trying to read it. Although I’m enjoying the reacquaint, I’m also realizing why they were a drudge back then. Audiobooks will definitely make this effort much more enjoyable, and enjoyed it I have. Absolutely recommend.
Audiobook
by Zagazig on 2017/11/15 07:31
I was skeptical first about audiobook. I decided to try it. With my first book I got hooked. I started carrying my iPhone with me everywhere I go. Whenever I have a chance I listen to my book, in the morning while I am getting ready, while I am having breakfast, and in the car while I am driving. The book became a true companion. I was able to finish a book in a week. Audiobook has great features, like you can pause and continue, when you stop it replays a little bit what listened to before to remind you where you stopped, when the phone rings it pauses until you finish your call. I just love it.
Fantastic

This app is saving my reading. With aggressive MS among other illnesses it has become difficult to read as many books as I used to but that has always been one of my favorite things to do. I recently used a credit on Emotional Intelligence, which I began reading to teach to my nieces. The ease of repeating a section that I may need to hear a few times to understand is great. I also appreciate that this book was even an option. Pretty sure a lot don’t have it. I have been scrolling around for future books and I’m really impressed by the options. Everything on my want list is there. Thanks!
Audiobooks make reading easier
by Pimping22 on 2018/03/23 03:02
I like to read while I’m at the gym in order to pass the time, or to pick up on my reading. It’s difficult to read a book, constantly turning the pages, while you’re exercising on the elliptical or walking on the treadmill. I figured I would try Audiobooks in order to make my life a little easier. I downloaded the book “The Beauty of Darkness” by Mary E. Pearson and listening while working out has really encouraged me to want to listen to more books after this one! My only complaint is that I wish the tracks for the audiobook displayed the chapter names other than random numbers, but listening is still perfectly fine!
Great App for commuters!
by MrGrumpz on 2017/10/15 20:05
I started using this app recently and I love it. I have long drives to work and filling those drives with wonderful books has made it much better. Everything was seamless and easy to use, and the interface is pleasing. I listened to Doctor Sleep by Stephen King and it just kept me coming back for more. The only reason that I'm giving it 4 stars is that if you have directions going on your phone at the same time, it will not pause playback when there is an update to your trip causing you to miss 3-7 seconds of the book and can cause confusion. This is minor, but I want to hear every second of the book! If you love audiobooks, this app is the one!
love this app!!
by ilovehuck28 on 2017/11/02 16:16
I listened to Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. LOVVVVVVED being able to listen to this on my hour commute to and from school every day. Makes the time go much faster! It's so nice to still be able to enjoy books even though my time to read them is very slim. I'm a HUGE bookworm and feel empty when I'm not nose deep in a novel. I never thought I would love listening to audiobooks as much as I have! I also loved being able to set the speed of the reading. I'm usually a fast reader, so being able to quicken the pace made my attention span very happy. Will definitely continue listening to books on this app!
Great Concept, a little expensive?
by Rachelmk55 on 2018/10/16 21:54
So much easier than reading a long book off of a phone screen or even iPad. I'm in the free trial now so it is great. I really was considering keeping the service after however, after reading through what you get with a monthly subscription, now In not so sure. Maybe I misunderstood something but to me it looks as if you are paying $15 for one credit (basically one audiobook). I see that you can purchase more credits, which I'm sure are less expensive, but that's a little pricey for what, to me, is like any other streaming service that are either cheaper or unlimited. As I said, I could be completely off the ball, but that's my opinion (as I understood the description).

Good app!

Impressed

I just trialed this app because I wanted to listen to an audiobook and they had a great deal. I just signed up for a free trial and I so far have been impressed with the quality and selection of books.
App itself is a winner
by Sadyies on 2019/06/18 08:03
I downloaded this app to hear the book that I could not find on another service. The King by J.R. Ward. The book flowed flawless. The only downside I foresee with this service is the # of books you can listen to a month without incurring additional fees. I listen to about 7-10 books a month, so it would get pricey. But the app itself is a winner!
Lots of options

I used Audible in the past, but found I enjoyed reading books more than listening at that time. Recently I have a need to listen more since minor eye surgery. Using Audiobooks seems more friendly to me than my past experience. I recommend Audiobooks to everyone.

Great app!

I have been switching back and forth from reading a physical book when I settle down to listening when I am on the go. I wish there was a better way of finding a place in a book that does not have chapters. But overall I really love the soothing voice of the narrator very much!
Love it!

When you think about it, this is a very logical and useful place since it allows you to more easily compare what books you have now with what you want to read in the future, but I find I have to poke around almost every time to remember where it is.
well written app designed to be the best on the market
by 518& on 2017/11/27 03:48
it’s clear that this small audiobooks company goes out of its way to make the user experience the best in the industry.

Teen Tested, Granny Approved
by iluvmytreefrog on 2018/05/24 04:42
If you are like me, you love books but don’t always have the chance to sit down and read amidst the busyness of everyday life.

Audiobook

Enjoy!
