Kludgey.
by mikewig on 2019/11/20 02:07
Constantly asking me to input my master password. Even when I just entered it seconds before. Desktop Dashlane takes too long to recognize a web login. Happens when initiating the web login from Dashlane (go to Website) Or from the site’s web URL. Forces me to sit and wait and get frustrated. Eventually I grab to login info from Dashlane to populate the login. About that time Dashlane wakes up with the deer symbol. And offers me the login credentials. Sometimes while the deer symbol is presented Dashlane won’t present the login credentials. Happens with Chrome, Firefox and Edge. Am using a I7-4900 with 24 gig memory and SSD. The iPhone app doesn’t exhibit this behavior. Another frustration is while I’m forced to manually copy paste the login credentials, the Dashlane screen covers up the entire screen real estate so I have to manually minimize the the Dashlane screen. Not once but twice because I have to grab the username and password separately.

Have used this Dashlane for over four years now. Will not give it up, especially its VPN! Best ever! Never has let me down. Seriously I love this app. Just one thing to really remember, your Dashlane password. Do not ever lose it because there is no password recovery provided. Hackers cannot get it because they do not have it! Just write it down in a secure place like I do when O change my password every month.

Fantastic - get Premium
by JayJoplin on 2019/11/17 10:47
No more unsafe passwords as you can copy-paste a complex password from the app. You can save more than your passwords. There are secure free-form notes for anything you like (such as combination locks and key codes). Customer service is fantastic. Getting premium is totally worth it not only for syncing passwords to other devices or your new phone. You also get VPN service for secure internet use. Developers, I have one request: please add ability to copy the Secondary Login. As it stands now, one must click “edit” in order to copy—which creates a risk of changing or deleting something.

Falls way short for the price
by dashsuck on 2019/11/16 00:06
This app costs 5X more annually than last pass. Think about that. I switched from another pw manager about a year ago due to frustrations with the autofill feature. The dashlane autofill has NEVER worked. EVER. This isn’t an isolated case. It just doesn’t work. 5 devices. 2 PCs, iPad, iPhone, and and Android phone. Auto generation of passwords is also much more limited in dashlane than it is in other similar apps. Dashlane is absolutely not worth it’s premium price.

Excellent Product with Fine Customer Support
by AltaDoc on 2019/11/13 15:27
I have used Dashlane for several years and have been a Premium member for the last couple of years. I use Dashlane on desktop and iOS devices. For desktop devices, I use both the app and the web to access content. I have also used the product with 2-factor authentication using 2FA software and a Yubico key. Dashlane works very well. I love its integration into major browsers and feel that it is much more secure than Apple keychain, for example (perception if not reality). Other great built-in capabilities include “password changer” and “password generator” to help keep your identity secure. Also use the built-in VPN solution frequently, especially when using public Wifi. Opportunity for improvement includes stronger integration of automatic secondary logon in browsers, which Dashlane says they’re working on. I have also been really pleased with customer support. Just migrated from an old to new MacBook and the Dashlane app didn’t migrate correctly. Customer service responded immediately upon receipt and had the problem solved for me within two quick email cycles. This service level is promised for Premium members and it is delivered. Can highly recommend Dashlane. Everyone should secure their online identities and other critical identifiable information. Dashlane works, is easy to use, works and synchronizes on all your platforms, and the company meets their brand promises.

Really good app....
by Tenn. man on 2018/01/08 06:29
This app is really a benefit in todays world. It’s getting way to hard to keep all the information under control w/o a little help & this app definitely helps. Having said that there is a pretty steep learning curve with all these password manager apps, but this one is the best at helping a noob along the way. I tried 3 others before I found Dashlane & it is miles ahead of the others in terms of “user friendliness”, if you will. The PC aspect of this manager is a breeze once you get it set up & have a little time to get your head wrapped around what is going on. The mobile side of it is a real battle though, at least on IOS devices. As much difficulty as I seem to have, though pales in comparison to the other apps I tried, they were impossible to get past the mobile setup part, didn’t even get to really use them because of set up issues. The biggest thing reason for getting a manager was PC and phone communicating & keeping each other current. Dashlane has managed to do this for me w/o any need for help from support, which after the first three experiences I didn’t think would ever happen. So if you an old newbie like me, then you can’t go wrong with this app.
Easy to use
by Ricardo-Swe2 on 2018/10/28 15:25
I am a long time user of password management software, going back many years -Roboform, LastPass and now DashLane. My favorite now is DashLane because it is a good meld of super easy to use Roboform and LastPass’s modern tight securit. I don’t doubt that Roboform is quite secure, but it fell behind slightly. DashLane convinced me to move from LastPass because of such a simple idea... I use a very secure master password, so it can be hard to type correctly. LastPass hides what you type for the master password, so it’s a real test of careful typing and multiple tries to get it right. DashLane also hides the master password as you type for public security but it lets you reveal your typing if you choose, so I get it right quickly. And DashLane is near seem less compared to LastPass. The only thing I miss from LastPass is the good grouping of site passwords in its storage view. With DashLane it seems just a scramble, so I must rely on searching to find a sight’s password. Also, LastPass categorizes things like secure notes, credit cards and identification info much better than DashLane. I hope DashLane is reading this & improving that aspect.
Features complicate beauty of this tool
by Matenai on 2019/09/12 21:46
UPDATE of RATING: I have removed another 2 stars as it seems this app is now totally worthless on the iPhone or iPad...even the supposed “open it in Dashlane” function does nothing but open the login webpage without inserting the login information. Also, many sites on the PC have login windows that Dashlane does not recognize and thus does not populate...banking sites in particular. The fact that I have to remember what sites work and which don’t on the PC makes it a real bother. I am almost ready to abandon it. Also it tells you that your account is compromised hundreds of times even though you have changed your password. So how are you supposed to know if it was compromised since the last password change? Original Review: I have this on PC a Send iPhone. I find on the PC it works fairly well when you go to enter a password or something you see the icons giving you a choice from the selection list if there are multiple possible entries. I hate the fact keeps asking me for receipts but you can turn that off. On iPhone it's another matter I found it totally useless. There seems to be no integration between Safari and this application. Then if you go to the application and login you never get the thread that you were pursuing from an email that required logging in Safari. Am I missing something?
Time to give Dashlane the rating it deserves!
by JeffRVMan on 2019/02/01 23:56
I’ve been using Dashlane now for nearly 5 years. Over that period of time I’ve accumulated hundreds of passwords and an impressive collection of sensitive information that I never seem to have when I want it (like my passport number or car registration numbers). At first, integration with browsers was a bit sketchy but no matter what I could always go to Dashlane and copy my username/password and paste it into a browser. It’s always there, on all my devices (Mac, PC, iPad, iPHones) and has never let me down. I’ve helped over a dozen folks get started with Dashlane and its been simply life changing for those still keeping their data on cheat sheets. Of late, the improvements seems to be coming along regularly. Most recently with iOS 12, integration with FaceID has been a game changer! Now it all just works without me even entering my Master Password on the keyboard. I also see VPN has been added for the Premium subscriber as well. So hats off to the Dashlane team for a great product that sees regular updates at a very reasonable price!!! 5 stars for sure!!!
I simply love it...
by pc_tech on 2017/12/16 13:55
I’m an IT Professional and I have been using LastPass for the past three years. It started to act up on me and when I tried to contact their customer service I couldn’t even get a phone number to call! I followed all of their online support articles but my issues remained unsolved. I decided to give Dashlane a try and after 3 days I basically fell in love with it :) it’s a well designed overall app, and the UI on the iOS app is nice and easy to use, as well as the UI for the macOS app. I was able to export all off my data (passwords & secure notes) from LastPass and import them to Dashlane during the initial setup process, which was a breeze by the way and they walk you through every step of the way. You really don’t need to be an IT person to use this service, it’s certainly designed for the average user who is trying to have a simple and easy way to manage their passwords and have them all secure and available on all of their devices. Highly recommend the premium subscription, it’s definitely worth the money.
Has lost its luster
by bevatron on 2018/12/21 19:24
About 4 years ago based on a positive NYT review, this was my go to app to manage more than 1,000 work and personal passwords. I am very pleased with the security and sharing abilities. However as the number of devices I own has increased, and the multiplication of the security efforts I have to manage as a data analyst for a UC medical center - the burdens of repetitive logins needed on devices using Face ID influenced me to switch to RememBear. In contrast to Dashlane, the look and feel of RememBear actually lightens the onerous tasks involving passwords and provides just the right amount of animation and other confidence building measures. Dashlane suffers from Microsoft type bloat - adding progressive features in a way that now makes simple tasks many layered and cumbersome. The proverbial last straw for Dashlane was its inability to export a csv file with database column headers - an omission that almost seems designed to frustrate a user’s attempt to migrate their own data. Unfortunately I have to live in both a Windows (very reluctantly) and OS x iOS world - but RememBear looks pleasing and functions seamlessly across the spectrum. Inexplicably RememBear is not available on the Apple App Store - but don’t overlook it as a viable and perhaps preferred password management option.
Would like better mobile integration, great on PC!!
by JenniBuginPink on 2018/08/17 15:11
You MUST use a password program so that each place you use a password has a different one! Trying to keep up with hundreds of passwords any other way is a terrible idea in terms of security & convenience. Since you must use a program, I highly recommend Dashlane! It makes it so easy. It integrates with your computer, phone & tablet and ensures you always have easy access to all those passwords but keeps them out of the hands of the bad guys. It generates passwords for you (you specify the parameters), and tells you when they need to be changed. It can even change a lot of them at one time for you with a click. I hope they stay in business forever, cause I plan to use it forever. PS - I swear that this is an unpaid unsolicited review, though they can pay me if they want, LOL. Oh, I was even able to get my husband to use it! He likes it too. He'd use one password for everything without Dashlane!
Going to look for a new password app.
by Missesmcguire on 2017/12/01 16:10
Dashlane is honestly only useful for storing your passwords in a way that can only be accessed with your fingerprint. It’s no better than writing them down physically and locking them in a safe. The automatic account upload of known accounts and passwords on your phone is a mess. I have multiple username/email and password combinations for one site uploaded by Dashlane and I have to guess which one is the right combination because the app automatically uploads the wrong info. The auto-login is horrible as well. Dashlane uploaded what it thought was my account log in for a federal financial aid website (it was incorrect, unbeknownst to me). When I hit login from Dashlane the app filled in the wrong login and each time the website attempted to tell me it was the wrong info, Dashlane just automatically enters the wrong info again. It sends you on a loop of wrong login to an error message over and over again until I’m locked out of my account for too many incorrect attempts. You can’t stop the app from auto logging into because it refreshes the page within a millisecond. This app is a mess. I’m trying to organize all of my accounts and this app has only made things worse.
a good app if you are willing to work around its shortcomings.
by nick7493026374 on 2018/10/25 16:52
in the passwords vault, you only have the option to use one of the websites that dashline suggests. you can just choose one and then go on the the edit screen and change the title to whatever you want. but then the only fields you are able to attach is the title, the website url, the password, and an email... as if that is the only information i will ever need to enter into a password manager. other PMs i have tried have had custom fields you can add in to a password. There is also a notes section for each password so you can bunch any additional stuff you need down there i suppose. i didnt think there was any folders or categories until i saved the entry and went back to edit it. you can choose from a few suggested categories, or make your own. you can then group your passwords by the category names. a folder system would be much better in my opinion but at least there is some kind of way to organize things. for me this app didnt have any of the specific features i wanted but there was workarounds for each one so its not all bad.
Free version, lost EVERYTHING
by amygaga21 on 2019/01/30 20:26
Dashlane worked like a dream for me for over a year. It was the perfect solution to organizing all of my extremely important data and have it readily available at my fingertips. It really was too good to be true. Until one day, Apple (I have an iPhone), offloaded the Dashlane app to save storage on my phone. When I reinstalled it, Dashlane viewed this as me trying to register a second device (I use the free version) and poof, my data was gone. Everything. Over 100 passwords and pieces of invaluable information. Upon contacting Dashlane for assistance, they said sorry you are out of luck, you should have paid for the premium version to use multiple devices. But I was just trying to use the same one device all along. In other words, there is absolutely no backup of your data if you use the free version. If your phone gets lost, damaged, stolen, or you accidentally uninstall the app (or if Apple does this for you) then you are totally screwed. This was not made clear to me as a user, or I obviously would have arranged for some kind of backup of my data elsewhere. I trusted Dashlane with my most important personal information, and they failed me. I would recommend trying another app but NOT Dashlane!!!!
Platform Inconsistency
by Iukekini on 2018/08/17 01:10
The problem isn’t so much the app itself, but inconsistency across the platform. The iOS app does not offer the same features as the Mac app, which itself does not offer the same features as the web app. For example, you can only setup two factor authenticated logins on the iOS app. The feature is not available on the Mac or web. What this means is that your logins appear differently depending on the platform you are using, and if you have any two factor authentication logins you cannot use the auto-login feature, plus you would need to access two platforms, Mac and iOS, just to login! Because of this kind of inconsistency, it is not worth the hassle just to get auto password changing feature. Also, you can’t just arbitrarily set anything you want as the master password. You have to formulate a password based on Dashlane’s pre-established criteria. The passwords I use (Diceware) are stronger than their requirements, but since they are not compatible I cannot use them. Because of this, I’m sticking with 1Password, which feels like a much more mature program.
I am screwed because of this
by Traderjo's on 2019/11/09 22:24
Beware that if you misplace your password for the app, that you will be unable to ever get any help in unlocking or resetting the app. Unfortunately I signed up for the premium service where I am paying a significant amount of money each month and somehow shortly after signing up for the app and setting up the premium service, I lost the password (which is kind of the whole point to even having a password manager, right?) and despite numerous attempts to contact Dashlane to seek some kind of help, I have never heard back from them. The credit card I used to sign up for the service will expire next month and hopefully I only lost about 5 months worth of ‘service’ and after it expires I can maybe try and get my life back in order again. I would recommend that if you are going to sign up for this app or service that you note down the password somewhere that you can get to, because of you do lose it you will not under any circumstances get any help from Dashlane, no matter how much you paid. I sent them at least 4 emails about this problem and got zero response. Please beware of this!
The Best Hands Down Password Manager
by PeterAsolomon on 2018/07/19 17:24
Yes, this is a great application, with plugins for your browser. It keeps track of your online userid's and passwords. It makes using hard to crack passwords possible to use and not loose; your mind. The app is free, this is true. It does have a fee though for those of us with multiple, impossible to count (or two) Mac's and/or PC's if the case might be, or boot camp where I run both OS applications on my MacBook Pro. The ability to sync across apps is worth the cost. Remembering passwords and not needing to remember them or use 1,2 perhaps 5 different ones, impossible these days without a great manager like this. You can even export your data to a spreadsheet and put it under your mattress if that's your thing. This is a five as it keeps me sane. It might have even helped me quit smoking and not killing anyone. Seriously an application for everyone, free version, but seriously worth the cost of an upgraded sync across device price.
Dashlane NOT User Friendly
by danaman62 on 2019/06/16 13:19
I used the free version for a few months and could not get autofill or password changer to work. Now about 6 months into premium subscription and seriously thinking about bailing. Using iPhone XR with 12.3 of course. Before XR I had iPhone 6 also with version 12. Every time I seek Dashlane support for instructions, help, etc. the only thing available is email and chat. No phone support. How can I get support when I’m not sure what questions to ask. Just a couple of days ago and on chat I had problems communicating my problems and they went unanswered. Try reading App Store reviews but instead of their settings change to most critical reviews. There are page after page of 1 star reviews. People having troubles with password generator, losing all passwords when downloading Dashlane, all kinds of problems. Dashlane response is please send a support complaint so that we may assist you with that. After reading over a dozen of those please send a support complaint from Dashlane I was wishing that Dashlane would just answer support questions online so I could get their assistance fixing my problems.
Dashlane is a life saver!
by Meeeeeee246898543235789 on 2018/12/29 19:30
I signed up for Dashlane after listening to the “Hackable?” Podcast and growing concerned with my password safety as well as potential dark web activity. I had been considering a VPN, especially following net neutrality changes. I had so many passwords associated with life/work/school/volunteering and Dashlane keeps them all straight for me. I have forgotten my Master Password twice and had to reset everything again, but I’ve definitely learned that lesson. I love the password sharing ability. After enjoying Dashlane so much I decided to join the Premium services and my husband recently joined for free as a student. It’s so nice to share secure notes, passwords, or IDs as needed without putting any of the info in a compromising location. I even talked my mom and dad into saving their time resetting passwords (not super tech savvy) all the time and let Dashlane log in for them. They love it and my mom appreciates not having to save them or write them down!
Dashlane doesn't work on multiple iPads at the same time.
by PdR123 on 2019/07/09 20:45
I've been working for a long, frustrating time with Dashlane Support trying to figure out why I can only keep one iPad connected to my Dashlane account at a time. Everytime I connect one iPad the other two iPads I own are bounced off with the app crashing and then requiring the process of "adding a new device". It's a frustrating cycle, especially when you're trying to quickly access a password and no one at Dashlane seems to have an answer. UPDATE... I'm raising my rating to acknowledge that a solution was finally found after a week of back and forth and also to recognize that Dashlane is responsive and sticks with a support case. Here was their solution that finally fixed things..."It seems its all related to ID's that are assigned in the background to devices for "advertising" purposes.". If two (or more) devices have the same advertising "identifier" Dashlane will only allow one device active access to the account.
Almost Pretty Good
by Skeptical Inquirer on 2018/12/11 22:42
INTERFACE. The interface is awkward, but becomes reasonably easier to use once you’ve gotten used to it. LOGIN & PASSWORD. It’s fairly easy to “teach” Dashlane the login and password for each website you visit, and once you’ve done that, the software allows a great many nifty features. For example, it will count the number of times that you have used the exact same password for different websites. It will then alert you to the risks of using the same password for different websites, and will make it easy for you to change passwords on those websites so that they aren’t used on any more than one website at a time. Also, it has a good password generator, and if you go to a new website, it will offer to generate a good password for you to use at that website whenever you return to it, and then it will offer to save that password for you for the next time you go to that website.
Intuitive, Organized Data, Indispensable
by spc777 on 2018/11/15 14:46
The vault has been tremendously helpful especially while on the go. Accessing secure password storage is the primary function for me closely followed by automatic webpage login, payment storage and receipt documentation from Web purchases. The delta are the following (1) very slow startup when booting the computer - I turned this off and start Dashlane manually (2) slow or non-existent sync across devices, the main menu sync now button rarely works and have to go into open sync preferences option to sync the data (3) serious login competition between browser password storage and Dashlane despite selecting Dashlane as main login extension which actually makes login very difficult (4) when at a webpage and seeking to generate a password, the automatic password generation dialogue box creates a password that Dashlane later says is good or unsafe but if I use the “manual” extension password generator, I get a much more complex and very safe password that is generally far more acceptable to websites such as medical or financial institutions.
Okay password manager with awful VPN
by Nimaa on 2019/04/26 20:05
Been using Dashlane premium for few months now , password manager works fairly okay , considering sometimes it doesn’t sync the latest passwords between devices right away and some other glitches here and there . The most frustrating part is the VPN , I was happy to see that is part of the premium package at 1st , but boy this is frustrating!! It constantly disconnects on my iPhone!! several times I connect to open WiFi on airport and , connect to VPN and thinking I’m good as long as I don’t disconnect from WiFi or manually turn of the VPN . it just keeps disconnects from VPN without giving any sort of notification which can be very dangerous depending on sensitivity of what you are doing . In over all I don’t think I’ll be renewing this . I might try a cheaper password manager and separate reliable VPN service. Dashlane password manager / VPN combo would’ve be great if the VPN was reliable and functional
Dashlane makes life easier and safer.
by Tom a real user on 2019/05/16 19:33
I like Dashlane a lot it has made doing things on the internet much safer and less frustrating. I no longer have to write down all of my passwords which are wrong a good portion of the time. That is because there are lots of sites I seldom go to and I go to them from different devices so I change them on the fly and forget to update the list. Since I got Dashlane a couple of years ago don’t have to look for that list anymore because I have Dashlane on all my devices and it keeps all of my passwords synced on all my devices. Now I don’t have to reuse the same Password on multiple sites because I don’t have to Rembrandt then anymore. Finally I believe the security is great especially for online banking and shopping sites and that is why I got it in the beginning. Now I put all sites I need to go in dashlane because it is so easy and I don’t need to remember any passwords.
This app has saved me countless hours and heart ach
by iClub Fan on 2019/10/12 01:34
I rarely do reviews but this app has saved me on a couple of key occasions that I wouldn’t know what I would have done without it. I use to save all of my passwords in what seemed like 100 plus accounts (bank accounts, apps, etc) on an excel spreadsheet. Most of my passwords were very similar with only a few variations so that I knew them from memory. Then my email got hacked 2 months ago and they opened up that excel sheet and had access to everything including my Apple ID. They attempted wiring money out of my account plus many other things before I knew what happened. Through Dashlane I was able to change all 100 plus accounts passwords within a few hours and they are all now very complex passwords that are saved safely in this app. Peace of mind and the ability to cut and paste these complex passwords from my iPhone make this app a no brainer.
Generally easy to use
by barrabas on 2019/03/17 10:09
Dashlane in general has been easy and convenient. I like that it syncs automatically across my different devices. It still has a few shortcomings. They can be worked around but it makes usage awkward. One is that if you access websites through the Dashlane App some website features do not work. The radio or dialog buttons do not work. I think the app for security is not allowing pop ups. As a consequence the user has to back out of the Dashlane link to the website and access through their web browser. Two. This same problem can occur with websites accessed through their browsers when changing user names or passwords. The Dashlane “generate password” feature does not work. The user needs to use the password creator in the dropdown menu and do a copy and paste. They then need to paste that password into the edit field for that account. Overall happy with Dashlane. Feel much more secure having different passwords for all my accounts.
Amazing App!
by batmanheffry on 2018/09/20 03:46
I got this app a few months back thinking it would help with my online security a little, I was wrong Dashlane not only helped me make all of my passwords extremely secure and easy to manage it also made me feel a whole lot more secure about my online safety and take my cyber security more seriously. I was easily able to connect the app on my phone to my pc through the website and now all my passwords are automatically typed in on not only my phone but also my pc. Dashlane gave me a security score and when I first got the app it was extremely low, I used the same password for everything and the one password I was using was extremely easy to crack, now if you look at my score it’s the best it’s ever been and that’s thanks to Dashlane. If you take your online privacy or security seriously at all you should get Dashlane right now, I mean it’s free why not!
Far better than 1 Password
by Dr.DiedreCook on 2018/09/25 04:31
I LOVE it! What a brilliant idea for a password manager to have the added feature of storing receipts (and it does so automatically when you shop online!) The browser extension works seamlessly. The interface is wonderfully simple & clean, but not so simple that important features are missing. I definitely stayed with 1 Password for too long. I bought 1 password premium for a 1 time fee when they were first getting started and didn’t have monthly memberships so my 1P app is actually free for me to use for life. But I haven’t seen an update that made any significant improvements in years, so I started shopping for a new pm. No, I don’t like $60 a year for Dashlane considering that my old PM app is free for me, but $60 a year is WAY worth it to avoid password headaches and password protection peace of mind. No complaints, this is the best PM by far!
Do Not pay for Premium version. It’s a rip-off.
by Honest Parent Reviewer on 2019/10/12 00:04
The paid Premium version of Dashlane is completely worthless. Don’t waste your money. They advertise that if you pay for the Premium version all of your saved passwords and Login user IDs will seamlessly sync to all your devices. What a joke. It does not work. Also their advertising is dishonest and fraudulent. They should make clear in big print when you pay $59 per year —- every year—- for the rest of your life—-that they do not offer telephone support like all normal companies do for paying customers. You only find out about that colossal Dashlane failure after you pay the money. Their customer support agents are completely useless, they cannot answer the simplest question. You email them, wait 1 to 2 days, and then they answer a different question or ask moronic questions that are unnecessary to answer the question the customer asked. It is clear that they are trying to make people give up so that they do not contact Dashlane customer support in the future. Their alleged customer support is in reality no support at all. What a rip off.
Saved my professional life
by Blue's Boy on 2017/10/04 12:33
Dash line has saved me numerous times. I need to keep several Apps and software products for various activities and I can't mentally keep tract of the strong passwords for all of the items up to date. I know that keeping a written record isn't an effective method, plus it looks complicated taking out your wallet to enter a password. DL keeps all of my passwords on the computer however, I’m not happy with the slow response of customer service when you only have email responses to issues, that never get resolved when you can’t access the computer to address the problem and as long as I keep them synced I don't have any problems no matter which computer I'm using at the time. I have six personal computers that I use daily, DL is my password 2nd brain, but frustration is the key to the relationship?
The VPN Is Terrible
by AMILkita on 2019/04/03 02:03
I’m a longtime 1Password user and wanted to give Dashlane a try, not because I’m unhappy with my current password manager, but because of the added free VPN service Dashlane offers. I’m walking away VERY disappointed, if only because the VPN is horrendous. It never stays connected on my phone. After about 10–20 min it just drops. The longest continuous connection I’ve enjoyed using it has been a whopping 45-min before it just abruptly disconnects — and with no warning to boot, leaving you exposed. I tried working with their tech support but it was evident to me that they didn’t really know why it was doing this and didn’t seem to place too much emphasis in helping me to get it to work and maintain a stable connection, almost as if the VPN feature is just a gimmick to get you to buy their password management product (which in fairness is their core business). I didn’t feel the need to continue and test out the rest of the app’s ‘bread and butter’ functions if the feature that is truly of interest to me doesn’t work.
GREAT APP
by sailorbob97056 on 2018/07/27 03:03
I have used a few other password document programs, and none of them had the various abilities that this program has. I will also sign up for the top-level protection, as it includes checks in the "dark web"! My other programs that saved my passwords were not very great in keeping the current password in front. The other programs would offer 2-3 different password options. It kept old passwords when I changed my passwords. Dashlane provides the current password to each program and opens the program is opened up immediately. This is a great program and I cannot recommend it strongly enough. PS - I want to guarantee that I have not been compensated in any way including a free copy of the program to write this review, I just want others to use the best password protection program available!
Best Free Password App
by BryDanielle on 2019/03/15 21:01
I have tried out several password apps and this one is by far the best one out there. First of all, I just want to say that the app design is wonderful! It is very clear how and where all your information is stored and it even pulls logos from the sites you keep passwords for so that you can easily locate which password you want to access. Also, I don't know about you but I can't see paying a monthly fee for an app that holds my passwords. With this app, you can store up to 50 passwords for free. Plus there is a secure note function for things like account numbers. On top of all that, you can also store personal information like addresses, social security numbers, and also card information like drivers license numbers. I would recommend this this highly to anyone looking to get the most out of a free service.
Could not live without it
by C Jordance on 2019/05/14 23:17
I’ve been using Dashlane Premium for going on 3 years and it has been like having my own personal safe with me at all times. Every login and password I need (and even those I don’t) are secure and at my fingertips. No more writing things down and worrying someone will find them. It can create passwords that even I don’t know and store and save them to use for logging in to any site I visit. I have never had a breach or alert or the slightest issue with security with, or since using, Dashlane. I pay for the premium version and it’s worth every penny but the free version is equally secure. I highly recommend Dashlane if you have many passwords, shop or bank online, have trouble memorizing, or just change your logins and passwords often for added security. It is truly a lifesaver.
No Firefox Support
by jshbbe on 2018/08/05 14:17
Please add support for Firefox! You support Safari and Chrome. I'll be using 1Password for now. Edit: the developer response says that it isn't possible to support Firefox at the moment, but other password management apps don't have an issue with it. I can use both 1Password and Bitwarden in Firefox without any problems. The developers are either disabling something on their end or they are just not willing enough to fix the issue. I'm an iOS developer as well, and while I haven't worked with Safari extensions, Firefox (and Chrome) are just wrappers around Safari (WebKit). I would imagine that support for web extensions is built in to WebKit since other extensions work without issue. So seems like Dashlane is doing something weird on their end to disable it. (or it's just a bug) Actually, if you Google "firefox ios webextensions" the first result you get back has an Addons section that states, "Firefox for iOS supports the native iOS extension ecosystem right now". So just laziness on Daslane's part to even research the issue? Easier to just throw a generic response my way?
Edited: Good But Not 5 Stars
by Not_Qualified on 2019/07/09 20:01
The fact that it is so expensive and yet you cannot select the country of your vpn is infuriating. After a year I am going down to 3 stars. I realize they are primarily a security company, and that I bought premium before I knew it had a vpn... but it would be so easy for them to let us select the country!! Am keeping the service and you should get it but 3 stars is my small insignificant way of sending a message. Old Review: I purchased Dashlane as a recommendation from podcaster CGPGrey. I came into the service thinking it would provide more security than my old passwords based on a number and service titles/urls. However, I discovered a service that offered so much more. You can read the description to cover the basics, but the things I like are: 1. Fingerprint reader to replace master password on iphone/macbook 2. Two factor authentication optionally set to none, when using new device, or every login 3. VPN service (though it defaults to the nearest country which they need to change!) good on phone or computer 4. Great customer service by email (just had bad experience with another email service so I was impressed) 5. Browser extension that is good for most sites but is occasionally glitchy. Intuitive on computer, but need to press bottom button on iphone/ipad 6. Search through website security breaches to see if your emails/passwords were leaked
Wife loves it too
by bj1951 on 2018/04/12 00:57
Honestly, although I knew we had to have a password vault and management app, I was hesitant because to be effective, my wife would need to embrace it as well. I can’t tell you how many times she has said “I love Dashlane!” She has not only embraced it, but now even changes her passwords regularly with 25 characters or more. Best of all, she only needs to remember the master password. This app has greatly relieved the dark apprehension that we would be hacked because of old password management habits. Do yourself a favor... go through the time consuming process of implementing this app to safeguard your peace of mind. It is a small investment in feeling a sense of satisfaction that you have made it nearly impossible to hack your accounts. Don’t forget your master password. It is the only key you have and only you have it.
Phenomenal tool
by McGuinC on 2019/06/29 11:20
As an IT professional for over 25 years, I struggled to remember over 100 passwords in my account arsenal. After years of deliberations around whether I could trust a password safe with which I could also share a personal password with my wife on occasion, I found Dashlane. It was highly rated on a couple of tech sites, so decided to take the leap with the free version. By about minute 17, I reached the limit on free password rentention and I upgraded to the premium version. I haven’t been more impressed. I can store all passwords, credit cards and secure notes, which I can also share with my wife. Now, I only need to remember my master password for Dashlane. I use the Chrome extension and the utility does the hard work for me. It’s been one of the biggest game changers for me. I even bought a membership for my wife.
Save time with passwords great features. IMPRESSED
by alex m. from nj on 2018/03/25 01:51
Dashlane is great. Have been using it for a little over a three years. Got the premium subscription. Home computer, iPhones and iPad all have the app installed. Sync between all devices is spot on. I love the "dashboard" feature that gives you a over all score of your passwords, history, over used passwords, and not so secure passwords. Then with dashlane you can change the weak ones and increase your protection and overall score. It a great feature. I also use the password generator feature for when ever I need to create, or change a password at work or for home. AND the secure/unsecured notes are also helpful to put important reminders, notes and such in- and then syncs with the other devices and you can add more notes when they come to mind. I am impressed.
Good really good app
by 123456789mRio on 2018/02/24 06:37
It's good app works fine. I know everybody says you shouldn't have passwords saved on your phone; it's not safe or secure on your phone. Well if your like me between work and personal life I've got over 20 passwords to remember..let's face it there's no way I can remember them all lol...the free version of this app has a password gen which is fantastic it uses lower case, upper case, numbers, and special characters to create a pAss word; it even tells you how secure it is .which is great and convenient.... I like the features like the secure web browser but that is in version you have to pay for..... I just use the free version... there is no need to pay for this app the free version is excellent and does all you'll need. Strongly recommend the app to those of you that have tons of passwords...
Improving over time. Useful tool.

Dashlane has been working well for us for many months now. As with any app it has had its ups and downs with updates. I like the ability to share passwords securely with coworkers and colleagues. Auto-fill in iOS is still a mystery to me. Does that really work and in a browser on an iPhone or iPad? Really? Still Dashlane is convenient enough to find the password you need to copy and paste. On the desktop auto-fill works quite well. I also use 1Pass. I find that the two apps complement each other. 1Pass is very good for membership cards, credit cards and other photographs items. Dashlane is superior for banking, bill paying, managing multiple email accounts, etc. :-:-:-: Previous reviews below:-:-:-: It worked then it didn't then they fixed it and it worked and now the update BROKE IT AGAIN. da fuque? Today I am offloading my pwds to a spreadsheet and removing my payment items. Time to test a different app. My sincerest apologies to everyone to whom I recommended this crap app. I will contact you about replacement options. :-:-:-: Previous review below:-:-:-: Dash lane get one or fewer stars from this premium user until they FIX the app. Yup I paid. I also was happy to start using iOS 8 and a new iPhone 6 - but I'm boned without my pwds. No stars for Dashlane til it works again.
Dashlane is a life saver
by AlexRyer on 2018/03/31 21:47
Dashlane is my most useful app. I need it to manage the hundreds of work passwords I have accumulated. I use it strictly to store passwords, which I then type in manually. My 4-Star rating reflects that I find it annoying that Dashlane tries to get you to generate complex passwords, assuming that you only browse through your phone. Another negative is that google and Apple seem to auto-fill most of my passwords anyway. So their niche is getting usurped. Overall, for vaulting my semi-complex passwords, I can’t live without it! Works great. I can’t say that I tried alternatives, although it was recommended to me by multiple IT people and we are now getting it at work too. Lastly, subscribe to annual cloud plan. Yes you can get the free app which might be useful, but pay the $20 a year for peace of mind. I’ve found passwords I didn’t know I had for old 401k’s, etc. it is invaluable!
Bad app
by mohàâ7 on 2019/06/26 16:31
By that note my "free trial" had already been over YEARS AGO but with out any warning they erased all my files and want money from me now! You have GOT TO BE JOKING! I bet if I had payed the extortion money my * files would magically reappear! They erased passwords that I stored no where else! Information that I stored no where else because wanted it stored on my device only! So if you don't pay be warned... your information will be erased from your phone or iPad! Companies like this are a serious problem! I can't believe I even suggested this app to people! I can tell you this.. all of my friends that had told this was a good app will all be getting informed of this! Don't get this app unless your willing to shovel out $60 bucks a year! Also the fake review up on the top of reviews... there is no number to customer service you just get auto generated emails saying customer support will get back to you or you can try the live customer chat from 3am to 7pm but no way to access it on their website. Total trash is what this app is... so be warned!
Good But Limited Functionality
by Wallbanger53 on 2019/01/13 19:27
Have the Pro paid version. Upgrading 1 star to 4 because platform has improved stability on Win10 browsers and iPhone. In the Pro version the addition of a VPN is useful and appreciated- some sites and programs like Microsoft Store don’t like it and refuse to load so this limits functionality. With Edge in Win10 it could use improvement in the area of speed of loading and field recognition where it often makes mistakes and enters the wrong info. A much needed improvement is to add a simple text Description field to the ID Card feature. Very kludgy having to enter both an ID number, such as a health plan group number and a description such as Cigna on the same line. Fix the Edge browser interface and enhance the ID card information and don’t break anything in the process and it could go to 5 stars. Old Reviews: Works great on Windows 8.1with I.E. v11 Desktop program. Syncing across multiple PC's and my iPhone is fast and seemless. However, it does not work at all with: Safari iOS on iPhone 4S - no auto fill so have to jump back and forth to copy passwords & logins which is what this program should do easily. I.E. V11 Store App - same as Safari comments. This lack of cross platform functionality cripples the program if you use it as I do on multiple platforms.
Advantages and Pitfalls
by A True Family Guy Fan on 2019/10/18 02:24
Dashlane has its perks and disadvantages. The perks include it usually picking up new passwords while you are actually on a computer or Mac (only okay on iOS), obviously storing them in one place, seeing how many are the same password you are using and making suggestions to change them for a more secure online experience. The disadvantages are 1) that you have to pay $60 in one payment to sync your passwords across different devices, 2) the password generator only works on the phone application and not really the computer application. (I always have to Google PW Generator when on the computer bc of how it’s basically non existent on the computer app.) 3)The website interface should just allow you to login to view your passwords without having to download the tool onto each new device you are using to retrieve a password. 4) It does only a fair job at integrating itself with the web browser or iOS. At least 40% of the time I have to go out of the web browser, unlock the app and select the account of which I am trying to retrieve the password for. It seems small once, but once you start logging in things repeatedly, this functionality becomes annoying.
It’s Great
by Sharon07 on 2018/06/28 21:52
Everything is online now. Too many sites, too many logins, usernames, emails and passwords to keep straight. Dashlane remembers everything for you across all your devices, computers, laptops, smart phones, iPads etc. Tells you when passwords are too old. Alerts you when a website you’ve visited has been hacked or compromised to get you to immediately change your login for that site. Update your laptop or phone, just login once to Dashlane and all your passwords etc are instantly on the new device. I suppose if Dashlane ever gets hacked, everyone is up the creek but I have to assume they do everything humanly and digitally possible to ensure that doesn’t happen as obviously their business and jobs would be gone overnight if it did! I find it great, I’d recommend it to anyone. Sharon
Do not buy
by Twobits Ranch on 2019/01/25 18:27
I purchased the upgrade premium account and I despise it. There is absolutely no help desk other than a large document for you to trouble shoot yourself. No one will call you if you need assistance. The product hijacks all the forms you must fill out as a realtor and try’s to input your data versus new customers. The product freezes frequently accessed websites and you can no longer access unless you go to another browser where Dashlane is not activated. The product is not intuitive and is a total scam. Horrible. I cannot even cancel or edit my personal information such as email address and phone number. Once you pay, you are stuck. Do not order. If the product is this bad, I am sure nothing is protected. I wish I never got this product. I have even emailed them and said I will write a negative review if I do not get help and I still never heard from them. So here is the negative review after 6 months of trying to communicate. I have given this product more than a fair shake.
Love this app !
by Gustavo Marketing Assistant on 2018/06/29 05:45
This app is amazing. Syncing with all my devices is a miracle and they auto-login has become an essential part of my internet experience. It makes saving, updating and managing passwords very simple. And payment methods! No more digging around for credit cards and bank account numbers you can put it all on dashlane. I started using on my phone and quickly added it to my other devices when I saw how awesome this app was. I only give it a 4 out of 5 because I’ve experienced a couple bugs. Currently I have duplicates of all passwords on 1.5 of my devices. (I say .5 because on my computer the passwords are fine on the desktop app but on the chrome extension the passwords are duplicated, and the other device where they’re duplicated is my iphone.) this issue is not a deal breaker, obviously, but it is definitely an inconvenience.
One Week Experience
by Bruinboy20 on 2018/10/26 01:02
Only downloaded free trial nine days ago. So far, so good. The only challenge/learning curve has been transitioning between the app and the program on my Mac Desktop. Much prefer working on the Desktop, but may do better finding my way around the app in the days ahead. I like how well it syncs everything on my devices. At this point I would give it 4.5 but a four was too low and did not want to skew the ratings. Five, at this point, is based on hope more than experience at this point! UPDATE: I have been using this for awhile now. The app updates for iOS are a vast improvement. Love having all my stuff in one convenient place. When Facebook was compromised set us an alert to change our password within hours. Great heads up. I highly recommend.

by BobVanceVanceRefrigeration on 2019/02/06 02:45
I'm a fairly forward thinking-tech user, but for the longest time, I didn't think I needed a password manager. The idea of having all my passwords being random strings of characters and numbers was intimidating. I thought it would be too distracting and time consuming. And that's where Dashlane comes in. I'm a pretty cheap college student, but for $40, I've been really happy with their annual premium subscription. Everything is synced between your devices with 256 bit AES encryption, which even their servers cannot read. Some people think that password managers are risky by putting all of your data in one place. However, because all of your data is encrypted (websites that have password leaks don't encrypt the actual information), it's actually safer.
Frustrating on iPhone using Safari -Terrible
by Reheat21 on 2018/03/05 14:22
At first setup Dashlane worked. But after a few months, when I go to sites to login, the logins don’t match, the passwords which is why I used it, don’t work & almost every app, I’ve had hit forgot Login, and then reset passwords. Dashlane asks if I want to save. Tap yes, and a few days later, can’t login to site...go through procedures again & again can’t access accounts. I’ve given up on password generator since Dashlane passwords I can’t remember, Dashlane doesn’t log me in...basically defeats purpose of a password manager. DO NOT RECOMMEND-I was snookered by them since I’m back to notebook & paper for almost all my accounts since I’ve had to regenerate on their sites, outside of Dashlane, to gain access. It was so bad I set up fingerprint ID on all important accounts since I Got locked out using Dashlane. If site allows use fingerprint ID & go back to old fashioned pen & paper before using Dashlane-save yourself the frustration!
In love!
by geekdom on 2018/06/28 22:59
Wonderful system. I'm a power user, been in IT for over twenty years. Now using Dashlane on my Windows 10 PC, MacBook Pro, iPad Pro and iPhone 8 Plus. I used to keep a simple text file with all my passwords encrypted on my PC, worked ok but a PITA. Installed Dashlane then spent a couple hours changing all my passwords on every site I use, well worth the time spent. For peace of mind, once all my passwords were changed, I was able to export a spreadsheet to my PC which I then encrypted and backed up three times as good habits go... Dashlane hiccuped on a couple sites (my ad blocker could have been the culprit) so I simply generated a password manually and saved it into the database. I can easily access any password from any device, or even a browser if needed. All very slick! I’m a customer for life!

by mikewig on 2019/11/20 02:07
Constantly asking me to input my master password.

Useless it wants u to log on to a PC to upload your passwords from there. Who still logs on to sites on their PC? It doesn’t sync with your iphone cloud keychain. Basically u have to go to each website and log it in manually. Whose got time for that?

I have been using this app for several years now. It is easy to use and I have ALL my passwords in one place. I’ve never had a problem with retrieving a password or adding new ones. I’d be lost without Dashlane.

Worst customer service

I had the worst customer service experience with a guy called “Kid.” I cancelled the premium service because of that. All the added features are not needed; should have tiered premium with just password protection for cheapest.

Easy to use

In love!
