For the State of MD, there are better options
by ixax on 2018/12/14 12:50
I find it fascinating that I was in Korea using their transportation app, in a language that I did not understand, and it was still more effective than this. Navigation needs a ton of work. How can I simply view the bus number/name and it’s route? Couldn’t figure that out. In fact, I can’t even view the bus’ arrival times, unless I’m at the main/home page. I can’t view the bus’ stops list unless I’m at the main page. It only offers you limited options based on speed. However, my state is often behind, so their selected “fasted option”, is often the worst. It’ll take you completely out of your way. As a result, you’ll want to replan your route, but there are limited options. It would be great to see stops that have transfers. I’m not asking for anything dynamic, as MD public transit it not reliable. However, most of us have an idea of which bus we would like to take and it would be helpful to see transfers at a glance. Or just give us more options based on available transfers and not simple the fastest times. So if my route has ten different ways for me to get back home, just let me know. Heck, I’m not even sure the developers can fix this without the state giving them more reliable info. However, despite the ads on the bus stops, this app is not that useful for residents who ride the bus every day. Hell, we’re better off with paper maps and a marker. I’m moving on to another app simply because it gives me a map and list of the stops for each bus. Design Issues It’s hard to tap the “x” to clear the address input field and it winds up reversing the directions instead. At least before you start GO, I should be able to tap the bus card on one of my routes and review the bus’ route and stops. If you can throw in arrival times and/or transfers that’ll be great.
Transit app
by BKLYN NATIVE DUH on 2018/12/14 02:46
First of all y’all NEVER come at the time y’all say y’all will maybe the bus drivers need the go option on the bus so I won’t be standing in the cold for 30 mins
Latest versions have inaccurate data
by ktu on 2018/12/14 02:01
Used to love this app. Transit schedules were almost always spot on. However, in recent updates I’ve noticed that schedules are often way off. Not by a few min, but meaning times are listed but there are completely wrong. Going to have to find another app with hopefully better data.
Misled reviews
by heyhowr on 2018/12/14 00:10
I understand the importance of reliability and on time arrivals, but I find some of the reviews have not taken into account personal responsibility that comes with your own commute. Public transit, especially in San Francisco is notoriously bad and Transit has made my commute much more predictable. However, the data provided to Transit is only as good as the data provided to them. That said most of the inaccuracies of the app is not on them, but the transit authorities that provide the data. For those of you that are arriving late and needing someone to blame, go look in a mirror and grab the earlier train. I assure you if you leave a bit earlier your day will be much less stressful. It worked for me.
So many bugs in app
by steelcity on 2018/12/13 20:47
I love the app in the past. Now it lags and don’t want to work time to time. Most of the time the busses is not in right location then there 6 buses coming. Also the time is wrong most of the time it tell me 2 mins really it’s 10 mins or the bus been pass. Plus the doesn’t work in most areas and most of the buses are not registered on here until you get close to the area or have to search it up.i don’t know if it’s the app or the buses are not registering to the app but the bugs need to be fix ASAP
Awesome and easy way to travel

Catching public transit is sooo much easier with this app. It has a great and user friendly interface! They always have new features that improve your journey too. Love it!
Mostly great
by whatthefolk on 2018/12/13 18:09
This app has been quite helpful getting me around. However, one of my local bus systems (Gardena Transit aka GTrans) is consistently 5-10 minutes later than their posted schedule. This app has no way to account for that period of time. So if I could recommend a change, that would be my major suggestion. Another addition I would make is to allow riders to customize their own routes and choose the buses they need. Sometimes this app suggests buses that I don’t want.
Yellow buses
by madonnica48 on 2018/12/13 17:48
This is one of the worse buses to depend on from it being late and you just simply ask the bus drivers a question and they are just ignorant. You supervisors should ride the bus plain clothes and see what we tAlking about. Monthly passes aren't cheap but buses are getting worse
Ehh!!
by Redice1212 on 2018/12/13 04:49
It’s kind of difficult to take the app seriously when it says my bus is arriving in 4 min only to zoom out and realize that same bus hasn’t even left its terminal yet that is 10 min away. Might consider looking into that issue.

Manhattan - NOT WORKING
by Deb0729 on 2018/12/11 18:35
This app hasn’t been working in Manhattan the last two days. The times are completely wrong. I was at Allen and Grand waiting for 15sbs northbound last night at 9pm. Big crowd. App said bus coming in 6 min, it was 0 minutes for a good two minutes and bus never showed! Over the weekend, the subway times were completely off. Yesterday, I was waiting for the M2 downtown at 2:10 and the time was off. Just now at 42nd and 5th southbound, fortunately bus came but app shows not coming for 8 min. Please fix!

Slow & wrong times
by Curry Diamond Curls on 2018/12/11 06:42
This app runs super slow. In addition, it will show one arrival time at 1:34pm (for example), then at 1:39pm say the bus or train on 18 minutes away.
What happened?
by SearsP0nch0 on 2018/12/10 23:08
This app used to provide me with accurate information which helped me evaluate the best potential route on my long and frequently horrific NYC commute. Lately the information is just plain wrong - busses that are allegedly 10 minutes away fall off the map and I’m stuck having wasted my time. Not using anymore.
Drains the battery too fast!
by Dioums.Diallo on 2018/12/10 20:20
This app is great and is a must have I believe. The only issue I have with it is the fact that it drains the battery extremely fast. Certainly can’t keep it open for too long. Other than that, great app!
Highly Inaccurate
by Gameman114 on 2018/12/10 13:36
This app has caused me to MISS the bus a lot more often than it's helped me. It'll remind you when to leave, unless it crashes in the background or just doesn't bother to remind you at all. Im now going to be late to my first day at a new job because of this app. I absolutely hate this app and will NEVER use it again.
Update
by need better apps on 2018/12/09 19:17
So the app developers responded to my 1 star rating that they are not responsible for delivering bad data to us they blame the MBTA saying they are just posting info sent by MBTA and we need to report to transit when the MBTA data is inaccurate....no that isn’t our responsibility it is Transit’s job to provide updated and accurate info and to hold the MBTA accountable when they lie or misrepresent service levels. Why did they turn off comments in the App? Probably because the MBTA can’t take criticism and transit is somehow siding with them....
Good for New Yorkers
by Superberely on 2018/12/09 06:32
The greatest feature of the app is the ability to plan your trips to your destination, like google maps. It gives you estimated times for each of your departures. I also like the GO feature but it runs my battery too fast(4 stars). I have an iPhone 6s but I’m sure it would drain batteries on newer phones also. Sometimes the departure times can be inaccurate, but that’s expected with MTA. Overall I would recommend this app to my friends.
Perfect.
by jdhdhdhdeh1997 on 2018/12/08 21:52
Bus arrived at the time shown and I was notified when there was a delay.
Not up to date
by SamanthaDDDDDD on 2018/12/08 03:48
This app makes it seem like it has the up to date information on all subways lines but it doesn’t. I know that it is not a possible to update every line but if you can’t update a line then the line shouldn’t even be an option on the app. If it’s on the app people expect it to be accurate and when it’s not it really wastes people’s time.

Everything in one place, but time estimates are messed up
by aznosmao on 2018/12/07 14:07
I really like how this app got both the buses and the subway lines in my area. Wish they could integrate university shuttles in but maybe that would be too complex. Recently, their estimate times for buses in the Boston area are WHACK. I arrive at my usual time of 8:55 AM, and the CT1 either is pulling up right then or a little late. While I’m walking up to the stop trying to see if I should run the rest of the way, it says the bus is coming in two minutes. Alright, I hurry. I look at their live time tracker and it says the bus is one minute past the bus stop, where it’s already left. WHAT?! I sprint and look down the street, no sign of a public transit bus. I look the other way to see if it’s really left, also no sign. The app updates saying I have to wait 18 minutes. Great. I sit down and try to be kind to myself, and three minutes later, the bus from the exact line arrives. ??? If I had left after the app updated for an alternate route, I would have been even more late. I do my part to use the GO feature since now Transit has shown its default location tracking feature to be as incompetent as the former NextBus. That’s why 3 stars instead of 1. My life isn’t worse off than it was before, but I definitely expected it to be better, as when I first started using this app, I had little to no complaints.

Comments are gone
by leslia on 2018/12/06 21:53
I have loved this app for a long time, very dependable, but when they updated they removed the comment feature. It was helpful to know if others were also having issues with early/late buses. I could budget the time easier. They have the live rider thing now but it takes a lot of battery power. Back to the guessing game.
Love this app for real time transit, A few ideas
by Kelonini on 2018/12/06 18:56
Since this app give real time arrivals and departures, there should be a feature that allows you to set up your preferred route so when you click your preferred itinerary, it’s in real time. For example I prefer to be less time on public transportation, so the best connecting lines for minimum time on board. But in terms of the function of this app it’s great, better than google maps because they follow the timetables of the published docx, unlike real time.
Best app for public transit

Use this daily for my commute. The app just feels amazing overall. Love it
Stinks
by ereed13 on 2018/12/06 12:50
Not at all accurate. It either says bus is 0 minutes and it arrives 5 minutes later or it says 1 minute and I walk out my door to see the bus two blocks passed my stop. NextBus was SO much more accurate. Disappointed the MBTA decided to move away from NextBus to this app, which stinks.
Don’t worry the transit app is here!
by Lukester2003 on 2018/12/05 22:24
I’m very pleased with not many long waits and also that it gets me where I need to go and I totally recommend this app if you travel on bus’s Bart trains or ferry boats! Anyway this is a great app a and I have found it less stress when traveling

Exactly what I needed
by SanchitM on 2018/12/05 15:57
After going though a lot of bad alternatives like one bus away and my bus finder, I found Transit. It’s the best transit app I’ve user till date. I really appreciate this app as a UX designer as well.
Doesn’t Understand New York Buses
by LuckysClub on 2018/12/05 14:34
I am always going back and forth between Citymapper and Transit and think both apps are decent. I kind of like Transit better, but I’m always driven back to Citymapper because Transit just doesn’t have it right for NYC buses. It doesn’t show the right buses at the right stops, especially Limited buses. I’d also like to use Transit GO, but whenever I am on a bus it pops up a dialogue box asking which bus number I am on, but it never shows the correct one as a choice and there is no way to select anything else.

Unreliable
by gschultzy on 2018/12/05 02:41
This app is very unreliable in my area. The time estimates are nowhere near when the bus actually comes.
Very handy.
by thecooke on 2018/12/04 18:06
Works very efficiently in combination with the phones other functionality
Worse than no app
by helenje on 2018/12/04 13:26
In Boston and Cambridge, this app is appalling. Regularly gets it wrong and changes how long until the next bus every couple of minutes. Cannot rely on it at all. Better to have nothing because I get my hopes up that it might finally get something right but then it lets me down again.
Ghost buses
by Tygotthesauce on 2018/12/04 12:50
Half the buses that are 5 minutes away never show up at all or appear on the map
Unreliable
by iva19688 on 2018/12/04 11:20
I’m using the app to time the arrival of the 1 train in the morning. With regularity it is inaccurate and causes me to miss the train and wait for the next one. At 6am they run infrequently. It’s not bad as an app, but not the 5 star ratings that I see on the Apple app review board: it’s only as good as the accuracy of the schedule.
Amazing
by buttery dog on 2018/12/04 10:16
Amazing app - great directions, up-to-date transit information, and even combined mode instructions (e.g. Lyft + transit). The map data and walking instructions are not as good as Google Maps, but bus location and Lyft / Uber price estimates are much more accurate.
Great, now make an app for Apple Watch

Great app. Needs an Apple Watch app!
Super impressed!
by justanotherreview167 on 2018/12/03 22:15
I’ve got to say the MBTA did a really good job with this app. It’s super easy to navigate, gives real time updates accurately and even gives walking directions. The only critique I have is sometimes when you click show nearby routes it doesn’t have them in both directions and you have to actually input where your going. Otherwise this is a great app!

Please Talk to Your Drivers
by cyclone5000 on 2018/12/03 14:43

Great app but bugs are taking over
by babytata on 2018/12/02 23:00
I've used it for three months now and the rebooting/restarting is bugging me. I'm getting disconnected from my route. You'd get directions and then go back to the app and get directions again but from your current location. That little Gray bus confuses me and when I get off the train what direction I go. It's telling me to go to an intersection; there's just a little black dot, but I zoomed in and that helped.
App Very Good
by samvawter on 2018/12/02 20:25
This is my go to transit app. Excellent for tracking bus locations in real time, and for touring travel. My only issue is regarding the recent redesign. I used to be able to see the bus/subway tracker in full screen without entering “Go”. But now the screen real estate for the map is limited to the top half of the screen. Bring back full screen maps please!

2nd review
by Jbs7988 on 2018/12/02 04:35
The real time feature hardly ever works in Manhattan. Almost never get the WiFi signal and even if it does show and says 5 minutes I live 2 minutes from the stop and it’s still wrong. Just resets over and over. Looks like my last review was 3 years ago and while the updates are cutesy they are not very effective. My MTA is much more accurate. Stunned by all the 5* reviews. Today I saw the bus icon moving toward my stop. Left my apt with 6 minutes to spare. Got down to the stop. Huge crowd. No more icons and time had reset to 8 minutes with no wifi. The first time had wifi. This is happening too often. Wifi time then a huge reset with no wifi time. Again, needs another fix. The 9/30/15 leaves much to be desired. Notifications are very helpful but if you're trying to time getting to a stop it's currently not useful at all.

Everything You Need — NOT!
by LanTok on 2018/12/01 00:44
Update November 2018: Recent changes to the app have ruined its utility, at least in Chicago. You can no longer use the app to see where the bus is, or what time it is scheduled to reach your destination stop. The bus you go out in the cold to wait for disappears from the schedule, but appears in reality when you start back inside to warm up. This has become the buggiest tool in my belt (plus the annoying intentional “improvements“), and I’m looking for a replacement. Why a Chicagoan likes this app: It's accurate, for the most part. It tells you whether the arrival time is based on the schedule or GPS data. It includes the schedule to the end of the line. It will plan your trip. And when you travel, you won't have to load another city's app. It's already in this app.
Unreliable and difficult to use in Boston
by weneedbetterpublictransit on 2018/11/30 14:29
But as it is the only app supported by the MBTA, we are stuck with it, and it is useful in a slovenly way.
Since I can’t find your email...
by lisfolks on 2018/11/30 04:30
This is my go-to Transit app. However, in a recent update, the app started automatically changing to the next route time if it appears that I’m going to miss a bus - and it doesn’t allow me to return to the prior route schedule. One of the stops I use most often has the wrong lat/lon values. As a result, the app thinks I should be a block away from where the stop actually is. At the time the bus is supposed to be there, the app switches to the next route time, thinking I’m going to miss the bus. Then, I can’t see my transfer point any longer, till the app figures out that I’m on the right bus after all. This is very frustrating!!! The app should ASK me if I want to switch to the next route time or stay on the current route time!!! (Since this app is supposedly crowd-sourced, optimally it should notice that I’m catching the bus a block away, or let me note the correct location - but, no, it doesn’t offer that option!) So PLEASE put back the ability to KEEP the original route result even if it appears I’ve missed the bus!!!
The Closest Thing to Teleporting!
by JwhispersC on 2018/11/30 01:21
Ever feel like sometimes driving isn’t fast or efficient enough? Ever wondered if you could combine driving or other transit with trains, subways, and more to beat traffic? Then you’ve come to the right app! Transit is constantly improving and has done spectacular things. From showing you multiple transit types available across the country, to figuring out the fastest way from point to point, Transit shines. If you’re a commuter who uses public transit and/or ride share services, this app rocks by combining them. It is also opening entirely new ways to move quickly through multi-modal transit. If you’re willing to mix ride sharing such as Lyft or Via with public transit- this is your app. Better still, the Transit App team keeps building and is working to add more modes of transit in the future such as biking, scooters, and hopefully driving to park and rides ;). All of this is a lasting effort to get you there faster. What’s more, the app gets better the more you and others put it to use by helping others see the true status of bike shares, busses, trains, and more.

This app is essential for Chicago transit options. And the developers have huge things on the horizon, aiming at multi-modal options across many operators. They are doing good work for the future of our, hopefully, less car dependent cities.

Good, but NEEDS improvement
by DiorLon on 2018/11/28 17:32
TRANSIT is my go-to app for getting around, but much needed improvements are needed. Some are: 1) calculating walking time in terminals. (Just because your at xyz bus stop, doesn't mean it'll take 5secs to get to xyz subway) it gives great ways to get certain places but that can mess the entire idea of punctuality up. 2) just like a competitor app. When you get off a train stop, and now have to walk a little. The app should give direction on which exit to use. Several times have I gotten to one spot then had to go back under then we'll to the actual exit. Sometimes I have to log into another app just to find which exit to go to. 3) adding back the time for approaches at the stop your at, the countdown is cool (and could stay) but seeing the actual time. 👌🏽 That's all for now, again Transit is good, I always suggest it to my peers, but to be an app I've had for a long time by now, certain things should be in place..
Update destroyed the app
by simonellixx on 2018/11/28 15:31
Every destination is now met with “no transit routes found” after the update. Extremely disappointing as I rely on this app every single day.
Great app but needs Apple Watch
by Steven N on 2018/11/28 15:13
The watch Series 4 finally has made this usable for 3rd party apps, but Transit stopped theirs years ago. Bring it back!
Uggggh!!

Works Good When it Wants to Actually Load
by EdRod03 on 2018/11/28 14:50
Ever since I’ve updated, it won’t load any information after I put my destination in. Even with closing the app and restarting my phone, still nothing.
Several versions back this was working
by CarloInTX on 2018/11/28 14:26
...pretty much like I needed it to. Now each new version seems to add features I don’t need and introduces bugs I certainly don’t want. Currently the biggest problem seems to be something that makes it say “No transit routes found.” It tells me to walk or take Lyft. I close it and reopen and eventually it magically finds transit routes. This morning on my ride it just went out of GO mode. It totally forgot where I was headed. It was as if it had been reset and dropped out of GO mode. Then it would not let me easily create a new route. It only seemed to know what ZIP code I was in as a starting point even h though the map was clearly indicating my current location. It is not intuitive to set the starting point to my current location, which used to be easy. Now it the option is “Choose on map.” I though this was a GPS issue except that it clearly knows where I am because I can go to the map and pick my location. Suddenly “Current location” is now an option! Sometimes it puts my location (wrong or nonsensical/inaccurate ) in a purple box. I have to dismiss the purple box and find my location. I have no idea what the purple box means. It used to not do that, so I am guessing it is some new feature that is non-obvious. I had trouble with this app when I first started using it. Then it got better, now it is just frustrating.
clutter on top of clutter
by Ignatius_J_Reilly on 2018/11/28 13:36
Every update has brought more clutter and made everything slower to load and harder to use. A floating search box that never gets out of the way, a skittish map that triggers constant reloading of the interface. The designers’ solution to every new feature seems to be to “add another layer”. The result is a real mess.
I’m upset
by 12!1! on 2018/11/28 12:57
I was wondering why I kept missing my bus to work every morning. I live 2 min walking from the bus stop and leave when the app says 5 min away. The timing is inaccurate! I have caught the bus from 6 min away and missed it saying it was 2 min away. Get it together!! - I’m upset
The only transit app I’ll ever use.
by lzosbrn on 2018/11/28 12:38
Enough said.
I can customize it wherever I go
by Der Golem on 2018/11/28 03:58
I’m so grateful for all the features built into this app, but mostly for the ability to turn it all off. Depending on where I am, I can selectively use ride share, trains, buses. I live in San Francisco, but it was invaluable in Chicago.
Apple Watch
by Walrus Paul on 2018/11/28 03:53
This has been a well thought out app, minus the Apple Watch support.
Say goodbye to your battery power
by ashowpony on 2018/11/28 01:32
I used to go from 100% to 1% on a 30 minute commute when I was running this horrible app.
UI was way better in previous version.
by BFBoston on 2018/11/28 00:19
Overall I like Transit app. It’s been a godsend, as I’ve recently joined the ranks of being “car free”. But the latest UI update, about 3 months ago, is not intuitive. Previously you could set an alert for an upcoming bus ride with one or two clicks. See bus schedules with one click. Now it takes multiple clicks to do either—more than necessary. I hope the next UI redesign makes thing easier!
Still no apple watch support
by TJ165 on 2018/11/28 00:07
Why in 2018 does this app not support the apple watch?
Guesstimation
by ponerologist on 2018/11/28 00:00
It doesn't actually know what stops or times you'll arrive. Instead it knows the regular timetable and estimates when you'll arrive, even if that actual train doesn't stop at that station. (Chicago)
Sooo inaccurate
by Simply.Raylee on 2018/11/27 22:42
I waited an hour for a bus that the app said was 3 minutes away. This happens veryyy often. It’s absolutely ridiculous! I haven’t found a single accurate transit app at all.

Before updating this app..😫😫
by Kelly4129 on 2018/11/27 05:26
This app was amazing before updating. After I updated this app , so inconvenient😫😫 I cannot see the estimated time arrival at that specific stop or look at the current bus activity. Please could it be changed back the way it was..
No report function.
by Thank God I'm Atheist on 2018/11/26 23:20
App is good but, I can’t seem to find a report button. The alerts show up about 10-30 mins after it happens.
The only competent public transit app on the App Store
by Sunkenlibrary on 2018/11/26 22:11
I’ve used a number of different apps to try tracking busses in the DC Metro area. This is the only one I’ve used that I actually trust to tell me when a bus is about to arrive.
The Best
by Mtvappsux on 2018/11/26 17:26
Honestly the best app for waiting the train and bus. Without it you won’t know how long you’re waiting for the bus or the train. Plus the app is easy to use. I honestly recommend it if you live in the city w a lot of trains and busses.
So far time is good

Service Alerts aren’t displaying properly
by VinYan123 on 2018/11/26 12:54
Great app usually. Extremely accurate! After the latest update however, the Service Alerts aren’t displaying properly. You don’t get any details of what the alert is. Even when you open the app and tap Service Alerts, it doesn’t open.
more cluttered with every update
by Nancycat2000 on 2018/11/26 02:42
Used to be dead simple, fast and easy to use. Just a list of your nearby transit options and their arrival times. But every update has brought more clutter and made everything slower to load and harder to use. A floating search box that never gets out of the way, a skittish map that triggers constant reloading of the interface. The designers’ solution to every new feature seems to be to “add another layer”. The result is a real mess.
The worst
by mradmz on 2018/11/25 19:30
It is either the shiftiest app or the shittiest public transport! It is accurate to+/- 40 minutes yes thats right. I use bus 574 in Virginia and this app never gets it right... funny that sometimes the bus takes a completely different route with app even knowing of such alternative rout.
Won’t give 5 stars until Apple Watch app returns
by MaxBronxNYC on 2018/11/25 00:58
Why? Why you still don’t have it? Very very upsetting. In terms of the most recent update - what does Amazon has to do with you and what are the “Fantastic new features”? Sense of humor rejects these statements. Maybe it would be great to dedicate time and restore the Apple Watch’s app.
Used to be great
by cernunnos62 on 2018/11/25 00:51
The new interface is clumsy and confusing. The entry box is just in the way.

But in terms of the function of this app it’s great, better than google maps because they follow the timetables of the published docx, unlike real time.

by ereed13 on 2018/12/06 12:50
Not at all accurate. It either says bus is 0 minutes and it arrives 5 minutes later or it says 1 minute and I walk out my door to see the bus two blocks passed my stop. NextBus was SO much more accurate. Disappointed the MBTA decided to move away from NextBus to this app, which stinks.

Unreliable
by iva19688 on 2018/12/04 11:20
I’m using the app to time the arrival of the 1 train in the morning.
