Good app, slow updates
by AnandLearn on 2020/08/10 21:16
Lots of functionality in this app, I love the custom scale which enables me to use original scale of Indian ragas rather than equal division of western notes. Unfortunately the app updates are very slow. It skips the sound on some key presses even though the screen shows the key was tapped which would be pretty bad if you are not using this for vocals. And you can’t quickly makeup for skipped notes because double tap changes the scale key😔 Waiting for a fix or option to not change the key on double tap for many weeks now...
Amazing

This is the best app I’ve ever used!
Not counting my streaks and time
by Al 👍🏼 on 2020/07/17 23:28
I was loving this app up until recently when I noticed it wasn’t counting my streaks and practice time. Although I practiced for two 30 minute sessions yesterday it only says I practiced 20 minutes... And yesterday’s practice didn’t count for the streaks? I’ve practiced for a week with the app but for some reason it only says I have a one day streak. Hope this can be fixed.
Love the app but
by jpai12345 on 2020/07/16 16:20
Love this app. I record myself all the time. But suddenly it’s doing this wierd thing where it will speed up audio and it sounds like chipmunks singing when I listen back lol. Is there a fix to this?!?!
Good not quite great
by Scmx on 2020/07/12 18:22
Solid app that I use for practicing. I use mostly the sound wheel as a reference/pedal tone but also use the tuner and metronome sometimes. It does a lot and actually probably does a little too much - does anyone really use the analyzer for anything practical? :) Complaints: UI is a little clunky sometimes. For example, in the sound wheel some instruments have limited range and not all octaves work. But if you aren’t paying attention, it just seems like some of the notes aren’t working until you realize that instrument doesn’t go that low/high. But really they should not be included then (the clarinet has 2-3 8ves that are completely non-functional) OR provide some feedback so you k is it isn’t a malfunction and you have to change your octave setting. The watch app doesn’t work for me - it’s a cool potential feature but I hear no sound for any part of it. The mic also seems to not work for the tuning function. There is also a bug there in the volume control, where you can’t swipe up to close it. Overall a pretty good purchase but wish those other aspects were better. :)
Totally Recommend
by DarkSheran126 on 2020/07/03 19:28
I play the French Horn and it is a very difficult instrument, so with this tuner app I have been playing so much better than I was when I didn’t have this tuner. I don’t have experience with other tuner apps so I can’t tell you if they are bad or good, but I can tell you that this app is phenomenal and it is totally worth the money. This app was recommended to me by my private tutor and at first I didn’t have very high hopes cause I am easily disappointed and I got to say this is the first thing that wasn’t a disappointment. This is my very first review on anything since I’m only 13, I hope I wasn’t annoying or rude.
Really great
by Benny potato on 2020/06/24 22:22
Literally hands down the best tuner met and practice tool any practicing musician can have right now.
Add cello sound

I Wanted a Tuner Not a Spaceship
by RidgebackLove on 2020/06/18 04:11
Man, are you people kidding me or what? Not only have you needlessly confused the relationship between steps and half steps by introducing divisions of tonality within the established tonal progression but you've pretty well tried to revamp the entire scale. I spent good money on this slick talking piece of crap. Gimme back my money ya' snake oil salesmen.
T E TUNER
by CELIN KIM on 2020/06/13 21:49
I give this app a five star because when im playing the cello i need to tune it of course and i have to use the metronome for my song too and its better than any other metronome!
Love this app

Great app. You can’t beat it. Great for students or pros.
Best tuner app I’ve ever seen
by My side of paradise on 2020/05/27 02:07
By far the best tuner app out there. Works flawlessly. Had basically every Function you can think of. Great for practice odd rhythms with the metronome. Highly recommend
Can’t count
by fjvmrusmvirhej on 2020/05/26 01:42
One of the features of this app is that it counts the days in a row that you practice. Compared to the other features, you would think this is one of the easiest to design. Yet over and over it erases your playing time and the next day when you practice again, it starts you off at zero days. The other much more important features work great. Since they can’t seem to fix the daily counter, they should remove it.
Very useful practice tool!

by uofouxigzhkc on 2020/05/21 18:14
It is really good if you want to see if you have the right pitch but it doesn’t have the fingerings for the notes so I am constantly looking up fingerings for notes.
Indispensable App for Virtual Learning
by CO Music Teacher on 2020/05/19 21:13
I would like to thank Tonal Energy for making it much easier to teach tuning in a Virtual Classroom! My students have the app on their school iPads. The tuning interface on TE is so intuitive and the smiley face is super rewarding for my young learners. It is extremely accurate even over Web Conference. I also love the drone options for teaching tuning within scale studies! My students love the metronome settings. The beat boxes help students visualize time signature and subdivision.
This is a LOT
by MIKEY_13579 on 2020/05/09 15:00
As musicians (not all of course) usually don’t understand where our equal temperament tuning system came to be I think it was a touch over kill to included some many different systems. One the other hand, I can use it to teach students how our system came to be and what other cultures systems are and sound like. It’s metronome is as complex as the tuning. Which is good. But it is a lot to learn. While I know if something is in 7, there are numerous ways it can be: 3+ 4. (Money Pink Floyd) True 7/4. 7/8. So fourth. I would NOT suggest you buy this unless you are very well a tuned to music theory. Well beyond a BA-BM In music or an euqal understanding on a master’s level.
App not opening
by Laura.Vy on 2020/05/08 16:51
I would give it 0 if possible but the app deleted itself so I had to pay for it twice. It was working well then all of a sudden it won’t even let me open the app. It just kicks me out. My school band requires this app and it works poorly! I’m very disappointed I wasted my money on this app that doesn’t even work.
Lots of fun using this toner

by TubaJordu on 2020/04/13 23:08
This is a pretty good app, but there’s a bug that needs to be fixed. Every time I leave the app to do something then return to it, it won’t play the metronome. I’ll press play and it will just not work.

Sometimes no sound?
by Why Should I give it to you? on 2020/04/07 21:16
This is a fantastic app and I recommend to everyone, but, there is this one annoying thing when I am playing on the Tuner setting that the note does not sound at random points in time. E.g: I’m already playing one note as a long tone (Say Ab) and then I move to G and there is no sound and I have to go play that note again for it to sound. I don’t understand why this happens and it’s kind of annoying.

Great app
by Moonwatcher_1234 on 2020/03/29 17:03
I am a beginner clarinetist. And I just have to say that this app is great! I use it almost every time I play and it helps me with my tone. This is a great tuning app and I think all beginner musicians should use it.
Good

Great app, but left white line at top of my screen
by justanotherclarinetplayer on 2020/03/17 00:31
This app is honestly really good and I use it for basically everything band related. But where the red line is when you go out of the app while using the metronome, left a whitish Gray line I can’t seem to get rid of. After I closed the app, it left a white line and I’ve gone back in the app and closed it again, even shut my phone off and it’s still there.

Pretty cool
by taurusbitch on 2020/03/02 22:44
It works really well!! The one thing tho is that it's kinda complicated. I'm not a professional musician but for students it seems just a bit overwhelming. Overall is amazing and works great🤗👍🏽👍🏽
Great app
by jennjdub on 2020/02/22 06:36
This is overall a great app, I mainly use it for the metronome. I do have 1 suggestion, though -change it’s category from entertainment to productivity!! In my screen time breakdown (for Apple devices), it shows that I’ve spent 10 hours on entertainment this week, but literally half of that was from this app.. so.. if you’re reading this, team, please consider making that change 💙🎶 thanks

by Natcat27 on 2020/02/14 17:34
I play the bass and in school it was quite hard to tune without a tuner. Until I downloaded this tuner which was recommended by even my teacher at school! 😁

by Pudding cup mama on 2020/02/13 23:15
App was working great, but all of a sudden it stopped working. I can’t play any pitches or tune. It won’t pick anything up with the mic, and i get no sound. I tried turning the privacy>microphone on and off, deleting the app, turning bluetooth off, but nothing’s working
Apple Watch is just a remote
by non toker on 2020/02/13 03:37
I think it should be stated clearly that the Apple Watch is just a remote control. I don’t want another tuner for my phone I want one on the Apple Watch.

by finnos2 on 2020/02/10 05:35
I love this app so much. Favorite app ever; but a lot of my video assignments for my drum corps are to be done with drones while videoing and you can have the drones playing while videoing if there’s a met going but not just drones by themselves, which is frustrating.

More of a suggestion than a review
by Zachary Moerch on 2020/01/13 16:13
Is there any possibility to make the metronome function on the watch app vibrate or light up with the pulse of the metronome? I think they would be cool and useful functions if implemented. This is mainly considering the fact that it doesn’t really do anything unless your phone is on with the app open as well. On the other hand, the app is by far my favorite tuner/metronome app available and I do highly recommend it to anyone thinking about getting it!
Great (except for constant freeze?)
by Naht121 on 2020/01/12 21:12
I use this app every single day for practicing, teaching, etc. I love it! But recently after updating to iOS 13 maybe a month or so ago, the app seems to basically freeze, causing me to have to constantly restart it, multiple times a day. Anyway this could be fixed? Otherwise I would rate it five stars.

Great but Apple Watch Needs Development
by kahoots51 on 2019/12/31 17:51
I just got an Apple Watch with cellular capabilities. I have three classrooms throughout my school and my goal is to be able to leave my phone in my office throughout the day. I don’t like that the only function on the Apple Watch, even though it has a great display and many options, is to control the app function for the phone. I’d like to be able to tune instruments with just the watch, play the metronome with haptics, etc. Other than that this is an amazing app.

I love this app and think it’s great, but for some reason the Apple Watch app won’t make sound. I don’t know if it’s my watch or the app but I can’t get it to make sound from my watch, even when I’m trying to get it to play sound on a separate device just using the watch app.

I’ve had and still have many tuners. This one is the only one that I use for every session. I use it on a wide range of instruments. From old analogue synths to acoustic viola, cello, and more. Even on vocals. I don’t use the other features. Just the smiley face tuner.

Hands down the best tuner
by Nor'easter on 2019/12/09 03:05
I have used many different tuners including a strobe but this app is better than even a strobe. In addition to being a tuner, it gives you excellent information about the guitar’s sustain and how the frequency of the plucked string changes until the sound dies. This is invaluable.
Best app ever.

A must-have
by MicroChango on 2019/12/04 06:48
I hate spending money on apps. I remember when I first saw this app, something in me told me to buy it. And so I did. This app is worth every last cent that I spent. It’s everything you could need: a reliable tuner that can easily switch between Just/Equal temperment, and also importantly, a metronome. It has some other features that I’m just getting used to using now too, but it’s just so useful and convenient. If you are a musician, you should buy this. No questions asked.

The tuner is amazing and it comes with a metronome which is extremely helpful. I wish I had this app when I first started playing my instrument. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who is looking to improved their tuning on their instrument or voice and is looking for a great tuning app. I love it!

Tone of Instruments, add new instruments.
by The guy whos mad at the game on 2019/10/09 18:25
Fix the tone of the Organ, because even your app registers a C1 and C0 as a C3 because the sound is so terrible. Also, adjust the range for the trombone and euphonium, and trombone can only go down to an E, while a euphonium with 4 valves can go down to a Bb0. Well at least mine can. As well as my tuba, you don’t have to believe it but I went down to a D0 once. Maybe add a contrabass trombone too, but those can go down to a Ab0. Also maybe add a bass boost feature for the sine wave, without headphones, a C2 and down to an Ab0 can barely be heard, only as a high pitches frequency most of the time. Overall, the app is pretty good.

I use Tonal energy on a daily basis for recording small snippets of melodies and transcribing them. I’ve recommended this app to dozens of people as the most essential app for any musician! Thanks to the developers for continuing to make and update a great app. The feature I hope is included in the next update is a “export all recordings” tool. I have a lot of recordings in the app now and I’d like to transfer them to cloud storage.

One of the best I have ever seen, Tonal Energy is an essential requirement for any serious musician. I recommend it highly!

It’s pretty great but now my metronome sound is not working. Everything else but the metronome works
Great

I love it, good for finding notes, tuning, and giving a beat if you need it! Worth it!
No more dead batteries
by Syd.doc on 2019/09/16 14:49
Like the camera, tuners as a separate gadget are now obsolete. TE is very easy to use, and has incredible flexibility regarding tuning systems, how narrow a band you want to consider in tune. The metronome also works great. The APP can also generate a drone for practicing, and has a wealth of other features for advanced users.
Good
by thisisurmum on 2019/09/15 16:35
I think this is good but I think it's out of tune because I play the notes correctly but it says I'm playing like an A flat when I'm playing a G flat
Tuner is out of tune?
by Scott'76 on 2017/11/28 22:58
I compared the tuner function against multiple korg model timers and found this app to be all over the map with the tuning. Some notes that were in tune on the korg tuners were showing 15 cents flat or sharp!! That is a problem with the app. How can you have a “tuning” app out of tune? I’ll be sticking with the korg. BTW they were both set at 440 UPDATE: I revised my original rating from 2 stars to 5. First because after a great response by the developer I discovered that I had a setting incorrect even though the Hz setting was correct. Second because of the excellent customer service! I never expected Total Energy to read my review but they did and they reacted to make sure I was satisfied. That is rare these days!!! Awesome tuner...I have since retested the App vs. the various Korg model tuners I have and they are all spot on!
Good app but don’t like the sound choices
by cea68 on 2019/05/16 00:00
I have just started using this app and it seems to have the main functions I was looking to consolidate from multiple other apps I use - mainly a metronome and a piano keyboard to give me notes to work through vocal practices / figure out harmonies. Also was looking for an app to buy, rather than a free app, because the ads in the free apps get annoying (and seem to be getting worse, e.g. making you watch 5 seconds of a commercial before it allows you to close it). And this one has a tuner to boot. I do have 2 suggestions: 1) Call me crazy, but if I’m just giving myself a note to sing from, I’d love it if the piano keyboard display had the option to sound like a piano. You can make it sound like a whole bunch of different instruments, many with kind of cheesy tones, but piano is not one of them. 2) Would like a mute button on the metronome, such that when in the metronome page, you can see the box (or the screen) flashing the time but without the click. I can accomplish this by turning down the volume on the side of my phone, but it takes a lot of pushes to do that so it can’t be done quickly. Otherwise I do like this app.
It's OK, to me the tuner is not great
by Kkeyz on 2018/02/05 05:23
This app was highly recommended by a friend, he had used it in our vocal rehearsals to give us pitches and tempos. I bought it to try and consolidate all the functions I need in to one app. Initially I found the tuner very jumpy, and I don't like the smiley face with concentric half circles tuning model at all, so I wrote a pretty harsh review. The developer contacted me and pointed out the string tuning mode, which I initially couldn't find because it's not in the tuning section; it's under the sound tab. It makes it much easier to tune my guitar (and it has setting for many stringed instruments from viola to banjo) but if I try to sing long tones or play them on my trumpet, I'm back in the happy face tuner. In theory it should work but to me, the slightest pitch change in a long tone causes the rings to jump erratically. I think that the string mode rescued the app from deletion, and added one star to my rating, but I will still sing and play long tones into the free "pano tuner" rather than deal with the unhappy happy faces. Kudos to the developer for helping me find my way around the app. One more quick gripe, if I'm singing with the metronome playing, the app hears the click and reacts to it, so you essentially can't tune with the metronome on.
AMAZING 100% WORTH THE MONEY
by angsty flute on 2019/03/25 03:44
this app is amazing!!! i am a musician, and struggled with many other metronome/tuning apps. none of them worked quite right for me, until a friend recommended tonal energy to me. it’s tuner is amazing and has helped me develop a great, steady tone. i love that there are different settings for how finely you want to be tuned. it’s been very good for me as i progress in my playing. i participate in marching band and a few different concert bands and nearly everyone there has this app. you can ask most anyone who has this app and they will tell you it is 100% worth the money. it’s amazing and worth the time. my musicianship has improved so much since i’ve had tonal energy.
Phenomenal App
by Grt002 on 2018/01/27 19:05
I am extremely grateful to the team behind this app. I use it every day in my teaching as a band director. In sectionals and even in some band rehearsals, I project the tuner onto a screen for students to use as a reference. The metronome has become more sophisticated over the years and I have found that to be useful for myself as well, and my primary instrument was percussion, so a versatile metronome is important to me. I have not used the analysis portion of the app much at all but know people who do and find it highly useful. I hope this app will continue to be developed for a long time to come. Thanks to Philip Geiger and the team for putting this together!
This App Has No Limits
by Teddy Dunn on 2017/09/22 21:28
This app is unbelievably detailed and well-designed. It's so versatile that it can hardly be considered just a tuner app. It contains a wide variety of temperaments, and it will allow you to create some of your own. It contains just about (if not) every time signature you'll ever come across. The metronome also allows you to choose which beats are accented and which beats you'd like to take out. The app also allows you to analyze the overtones of a sound, record sounds, generate tones using sine/saw/square waves or the timbre of different musical instruments, and SO much more. I definitely think this app is a luxury that many musicians ought to know about.
Amazing App — One Small Issue
by Anigo_O on 2018/06/16 00:31
First, let me just say that as a Violinist, this app is extremely helpful to me. I don’t think I could practice without it, hence its #1 ranking in the app store. Since I couldn’t find a feedback section in the app, I just wanted to mention a small issue. When creating metronome playlists, after “Use Tempo” is switched off for all the presets, the entire set does not inherit the tempo set in the header tempo box. Instead, it reverts back to the original tempo of the individual presets. Other than that, it is a really intuitive feature.
Loses practice streaks with regularity
by General Sherman's Horse on 2019/07/31 00:25
This app has lots of good features, but one infuriating bug: it doesn’t keep track of practice streaks reliably. On three separate occasions in the past six weeks, I’ve started a session, practiced for four to eight times the requirement (and on the most recent occasion, came back and had a SECOND practice session for longer than the requirement later in the day), closed the app and, when I opened it the next day, found that my “practice streak” count had been reset to 0 days. Since keeping up one’s streak is a key part of motivation, it is intensely demoralizing to have to start again from scratch when you know that you’ve practiced every day for at least 42 days.
Tonal Energy review
by Michelle JT on 2019/09/14 15:57
Tonal energy is an extremely useful tool for anyone studying music. It has multiple settings for tuning. It can transpose for you in any key or based on the instrument. It has specific settings for accurate tuning for voice, wind or string instruments. It has a drone feature where it will match the exact pitch you are trying to play. It also has a metronome with precision and subdivision. It’s very user friendly. I’ve had it for less than two weeks, and it has my highest recommendation.
🌟AMAZING APP🌟
by Ghøsty on 2019/10/16 23:07
I have gone through countless tuner apps but this one is by far the best out of all of them. It keeps track of how many days you have practiced in a row and I’m always motivated to beat my record. The tuner is amazing and it comes with a metronome which is extremely helpful. I wish I had this app when I first started playing my instrument. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who is looking to improved their tuning on their instrument or voice and is looking for a great tuning app. I love it!
Great! One strange issue though.
by mattnmusic on 2017/06/09 04:48
App is excellent!!!! Only thing is, since about the end of May, the TE Tuner randomly turns on the mic when the app is COMPLETELY CLOSED (It's not even open in the background). A red bar comes up on the top of the screen that says that TE Tuner is using the mic. It shows up for about 3 seconds and then turns off. This has happened at least three or four times in the two weeks week. I've double checked to be sure it's not running in background. I haven't even used the tuner in two weeks! So one star off for that. Other wise great!
Apple Watch Capabilities
by Gehnnf on 2018/01/30 01:11
This app is phenomenal. There is only one big improvement that I would love to see happen on the Apple Watch app. I would love to have the capability to have the watch give haptic feedback when I use the metronome. No app does this well. I tried another app and it provides haptic feedback, but the feedback stops when the watch screen goes off. Again, I love every aspect of this application, but I, and the rest of the Apple Watch community, would LOVE to see this be implemented!
Tuner “over sensitivity”
by mtnhorn on 2017/12/26 17:38
I acquired this app on the recommendation of a fellow colleague who uses it regularly in her studio. I became frustrated with trying to hold a steady pitch (according to the app). I finally set a pure pitch on my oscilloscope and turned on the app. According to the app, my oscilloscope/pitch-generator could not hold a steady pitch. As a tuner, I find this app to be more of a frustration and a distracting discouragement than a help. A good strobe tuner works so much better that I cannot begin to extol the benefits. As far as the other functions on the app, they are very nice, probably overkill in some areas, but as a tuner, I find this more hindering than helpful.
All you need
by ChaseMc Nugget on 2019/03/10 17:27
This tuner is so easy to use! For three dollars it is totally worth it. It has a metronome which usually cost $10. The tuner is user friendly it is also really accurate. Also you can tune multiple instrument to brass to wood winds to guitars. I love how the background is black it does not hurt your eyes and saves Battery especially iPhone 6 users. I am getting a Apple Watch⌚️📱📲 and I am excited to test the Apple Watch app. Thanks for making a tuner I actually want!
Video Issue
by Koolkid2442 on 2018/04/15 19:38
There are times when I’m recording a video and after I’m done recording I stop it, however, it doesn’t automatically stop like it normally does. Once I click it a few more times, the ‘write a name’ box pops up. That video then doesn’t have audio to it. I love the app. It’s just this small thing that makes my recording assignments take longer than expected and makes things inconvenient.
Great practice aid right out of the box
by HighSpeedSpoon on 2017/09/03 16:31
I've been using TE about a week and wish I'd found it sooner. I am a wind player, and the ability to easily use and configure the tuner and metronome simultaneously is a big help to me. TE is mostly intuitive to me. I haven't spent time reading any documentation (yet). Two things I do miss in TE are a Sustained Pitch History display and a Spectrum display. I hope these will be added, but even so, I feel TE is a five star product.
Worth the buy, but please fix the metronome
by jdskla on 2018/10/11 04:54
Great app. You can set the tuner to be as broad or precise as you need depending on your skill level, which is useful because I'm a terrible singer, but an expert sax player. The analysis tools are great to look at if you want to improve tone. It will show you your scoops, wavering pitches, and inconsistencies in volume. The metronome is great too, but the tempo is currently capped at 1,000 bpm. Please allow us to set any tempo because i love using a really fast metronome to create a pitch. Thank you
Professional vocalist approved!
by Gamaniac on 2019/10/09 15:25
I use Tonal energy on a daily basis for recording small snippets of melodies and transcribing them.
Great app
by jennjdub on 2020/02/22 06:36
This is overall a great app, I mainly use it for the metronome.
Glitches in recent version
by FlershDrev on 2019/05/27 04:52
I have an iPhone 7 and whenever I have the met app running in the background, actions like notifications or opening or closing different apps changes the pitch and tempo of the met (I have it set to doctor.) This also happens when I have my phone off and I get a notification. I love this app, I just want to make sure this glitch is fixed.
Needs Apple Music Compatibility
by changuitoPeruano on 2019/09/11 22:45
This is the best all-inclusive app for musicians, without a doubt. The metronome, drone, tuner, etc offer just the right amount of complexity while still having an easy-to-use interface. However, when I try to import something from my Apple Music library, it won’t show any of my downloaded songs. Is there a workaround for this that I’m unaware of? Otherwise, please consider adding this very useful feature! Thanks.
Best tuner ever made.
by Sooooooooo... on 2018/01/18 21:30
I bought this app hoping I could use my Apple Watch as a tuner, standalone. turns out, this app doesn't offer that functionality -- a phone is necessary for the microphone access. It's possible this is a limitation of the watch? But I am not disappointed. The whole app is beautiful & functional... & the secret sauce is the "analysis" tab. I've never seen anything like it. Any musician should appreciate the ability to watch pitch in real-time. Good work, developers.
One of the best apps for practice
by ZacharyCosmos on 2018/02/26 17:59
Trombone professor recommended this to me a few years ago and I plug it every chance I get with my friends. Just about everything you could need in a practice session - tuner (with visuals and a happy face!), metronome, tone generator, and it can record your stuff and tell you how in tune it was. Incredible. Worth much more than the price tag. 5/5 would buy again.
if I could give it 10 stars I would
by SilverWolf513 on 2018/08/12 18:31
so the reason I got this app was my jazz band teacher told everyone in my band to get it. I like the transpose feature, and i’ve even used the app for vocal work. when we practice in sections, the section leader uses a metronome, and this year i'm sure we will be using this again. this app has never failed me and all of my friends love it too.
Great app for beginners and pros!
by Capt Pollution on 2017/09/20 17:27
I have been using the TE Tuner for a few years now and it is the best tuner I own. From being able to tune A to any frequency, to having click tracks with any beat syncopation and timing, to offering multiple digital instrument sounds and my favorite the spectrum graph that can be used to tune an audio environment, the TE Tuner has it all!! Constantly updated and has never crashed. Great app!
Wonderful
by DarthVaderXXII on 2019/02/02 03:20
As a performer I play in amateur, collegiate and professional ensembles and playing in tune is a must. When practicing Tonal Energy puts all the tools I need into one app. Its wide array of different settings, available tools, and user-friendly interface allow for easy use and greatly improved playing without the cost or hassle of using a standard metronome or tuner.
So easy and convenient!
by paycarm on 2018/11/25 23:52
I love Tonal Energy! It is really easy and convenient to use. I have been playing the cello for about two years and the piano for one and this app has made it easier for me to stay in tune and on the right beat. I love the portable piano on here; when I’m bored it works as a game for me to practice my songs and start making new ones.
AMAZING (but one little thing)
by Breadl0l on 2018/09/25 12:18
I love this app a lot the tuning is amazing for it and I use it almost every day whenever I am practicing. The only thing that is annoying me is whenever I’m playing the metronome change speeds...I was playing at 80 and it went up to 120 and then down to 60(does this very often). I don’t know why it’s doing this or if it’s my fault but I love this app and that might be my wanting to change
New Practice Feature
by LaurenPopcorn on 2019/06/18 05:15
Love love love this app. This app has been a great all-in-one tool that makes my practice, rehearsals, etc. a breeze. I am really enjoying the new practice feature however I wish there was a way to start and stop the timer. Sometimes I need to take a break or am messing around in the app and would like to start and stop the timer.
Overall great but Apple Watch app won’t make sound
by randomoboe on 2019/12/28 18:12
I love this app and think it’s great, but for some reason the Apple Watch app won’t make sound. I don’t know if it’s my watch or the app but I can’t get it to make sound from my watch, even when I’m trying to get it to play sound on a separate device just using the watch app.
😀😀
by trombone_in_a_minute on 2019/05/05 21:22
I live for this app. It’s a perfect match for my middle school, high school and college students alike. No matter how serious a musician you are, seeing a smile doesn’t ever warrant a negative response! If you have more time than just using the metronome and tuner I highly suggest exploring the app wholly. Now if you all can only attach Siri in the mix so I can say “Hey Siri set a metronome to quarter=120” 👍🏽👍🏽
Great but, please fix
by Ty M P on 2019/05/01 02:09
I don't know if it's just me, but I've had this app for awhile now, and I guess there was an update, but now when you go to play an instrument it doesn't sound right. All of the winds sound too low or barely sound like they are playing. It's a great tuner and it was great to figure out what notes sound like but I hope it can be fixed. If so I'll probably edit to a 5 star
The best music app in the App Store
by joe419 on 2019/04/08 18:53
I’m a music teacher and I couldn’t live without this app. I teach choir, band, guitar, orchestra, ukulele, and general music and am on this app all day for tuning, metronome, and tones. Its incredible and reliable. This is one of those apps that I just continue to find useful tweaks to meet the needs of a particular group. THANK YOU for creating such a useful app!!
Hands down best practice buddy
by doylin jmd on 2019/10/29 17:11
Great app for developing your ear by eye. There are Countless applications . It’s great for singing and lets me know if I’m on pitch from G1 to E6 . It’s a bit complicated at first by like all the apps these days you have to fool around with it to see what’s under the hood mainly because it does so so so many things Highly recommended for ALL things Music.
Love this app
by m874p035 on 2019/08/25 18:47
I’ve been playing flute ever since 7th grade and I’ve been using this app since high school and I love it. The practice streak feature has been amazing lately in keeping me accountable for my upcoming audition however I really wish there was a calendar in there so I could see the days I’ve practiced over the course of a month.
Best tuner you will ever find
by 0987754346788 on 2019/01/18 23:44
Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating. But seriously, this thing has everything. A tuner. A metronome. Anything that is even remotely close to helping you in your musical career, this has it. I’m telling you, you could use an online tuner or download a free one, but this thing has way more than what you bought. Just trust me on this one.
Best ever
by djlkfgh on 2018/10/01 19:45
I’ve tried a lot of tuners over the years and this one is by far the best. One of its many advantages is the resolution setting. I have my students tune the open strings at the fine or extra fine setting and then play scales starting with the wide setting and working their way up to finer settings over time.
Cheap but effective
by Koalazzzz on 2018/01/17 03:14
This app was recommended by all of my music teachers and so far it has yet to disappoint. It's nice to have everything I need in one app that actually works. I've used many tuner apps in the past that have not accurately processed the notes from my flute but this one does easily. This is a necessity for all band kids.

TonalEnergy Tuner & Metronome
Description
For musicians from pros to beginners, whether you sing, play a brass, woodwind or stringed instrument or any type of guitar, this app provides a set of feature-rich practice tools that gives fun and rewarding feedback. It’s much more than just a tuner! So what makes the TonalEnergy the best selling music practice app? • It's an all-in-one app, with a state-of-the-art tuner, an advanced metronome, dedicated orchestral strings and guitar tuning page, a piano keyboard, sound analysis pages, and audio/visual recording capabilities. • It’s easy to use. Options like the Target Tuner or Pitch Tracker are on all the main pages. TonalEnergy helps users create rewarding and attainable goals during a rehearsal or when working alone. Colorful analysis data pages and audio/video recording features enhance the experience of practice. • The metronome is cutting edge. It offers unmatched flexibility in sound choices, tempo settings, meters, subdivision patterns and visual displays. Voice count-ins, the ability to create and edit preset groups and Ableton link for syncing multiple devices make this a superior tool for performers. • Ear training possibilities are endless. The high quality multi-sampled instrument sounds for symphonic instruments are unique among all other tuning applications. Listening skills can be developed through the use of the eight-octave keyboard, chromatic wheel and tone generator. There are no other sounds like these. • Learning is a social activity. Using features unique to the TonalEnergy Tuner, data can be collected, reviewed, edited and shared with others. Feedback is essential for growing and developing great performers. It's a full suite of tools in one app; the tuner, tone generator, recorder, metronome and beautiful interface make it one of the best tools for musicians out there, period.” FEATURES • Recognizes a large pitch range, extending to lower registers than many competing tuners (C0 - C8) that is highly responsive to wind instruments, as well as acoustic and electric string instruments • Adjustable A=440 Hz reference • Automatic or manual transposing options • Instantly changes between equal, just and other custom temperaments, including user-defined ones • Auto or instant pitch reference note feature using the TonalEnergy sounds • Extensive tuning list for all orchestral string and fretted string instruments including many more features than most other string-only tuner apps • An expandable eight octave piano keyboard enhancing many of the key aspects of the tuner’s functions • Chromatic wheel tone generator, with optional auto-vibrato feature • Frequency and Harmonic energy overtone graphs, along with a multi-function waveform • Dedicated metronome page that matches or exceeds the features available on all other stand alone metronome apps • Notation options including standard English, Solfege, Northern European, and Indian variants • Bluetooth output/input support • Audio and Video recording capabilities including, editing, looping, timestretch that are all exportable via iTunes sharing, AirDrop, email, AudioCopy, SoundCloud, etc • Import music from iTunes Library or email attachments • Compatible with external microphones and clip-on vibration sensor devices • Supports external video output to an external display for use in rehearsal halls • External MIDI keyboard control support • Apple Watch app acts as remote control for the phone app • Audiobus and inter-app audio support • VoiceOver support for the blind or visually impaired INSTRUMENT SOUNDS • Piccolo, Flute • Oboe, English Horn, Bassoon • Eb, Bb/A Clarinet, Bass Clarinet • Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Baritone Saxophone • Trumpet • French Horn • Tenor and Bass Trombone • Euphonium and Tuba • Square, sawtooth, and sine waveforms • Organ • Plucked Strings

Add cello sound
by Cello Lover101 on 2020/06/23 14:49
Great app. Use it every time I play my music. I want the cello instrument sound added.
Awesome tuner

Love this app
by sholsbergmyth on 2020/06/01 16:16

Review
by uofouxigzhkc on 2020/05/21 18:14
It is really good if you want to see if you have the right pitch but it doesn’t have the fingerings for the notes so I am constantly looking up fingerings for notes.

Great, but
by TubaJordu on 2020/04/13 23:08
This is a pretty good app, but there’s a bug that needs to be fixed. Every time I leave the app to do something then return to it, it won’t play the metronome. I’ll press play and it will just not work.
Top quality app

I love every aspect of this app. A great tool!

Very helpful, with lots of fun interaction! Made me more encouraged to play my instrument. I definitely suggest it. Thank you, TE tuner!
Great app
by Moonwatcher_1234 on 2020/03/29 17:03
I am a beginner clarinetist. And I just have to say that this app is great! I use it almost every time I play and it helps me with my tone. This is a great tuning app and I think all beginner musicians should use it.
Good

Honestly I couldn’t see myself using anything but this app
Great app, but left white line at top of my screen
by justanotherclarinetplayer on 2020/03/17 00:31
This app is honestly really good and I use it for basically everything band related. But where the red line is when you go out of the app while using the metronome, left a whitish Gray line I can’t seem to get rid of. After I closed the app, it left a white line and I’ve gone back in the app and closed it again, even shut my phone off and it’s still there.

It’s great but I have trouble. It’s pretty complicated
Pretty cool
by taurusbitch on 2020/03/02 22:44
It works really well!!
Orchestra is awesome
by Natcat27 on 2020/02/14 17:34
I play the bass and in school it was quite hard to tune without a tuner. Until I downloaded this tuner which was recommended by even my teacher at school! 😁
:(
by Pudding cup mama on 2020/02/13 23:15
App was working great, but all of a sudden it stopped working.

One thing I wish they’d update
by finnos2 on 2020/02/10 05:35
I love this app so much. Favorite app ever; but a lot of my video assignments for my drum corps are to be done with drones while videoing and you can have the drones playing while videoing if there’s a met going but not just drones by themselves, which is frustrating.
Refund?

Other than that this is an amazing app.

by randomoboe on 2019/12/28 18:12
I love this app and think it’s great, but for some reason the Apple Watch app won’t make sound. I don’t know if it’s my watch or the app but I can’t get it to make sound from my watch, even when I’m trying to get it to play sound on a separate device just using the watch app.

TE Tuner is quite amazing. My favorite part is that I can use the sound of a bassoon to tune my cello. Really powerful app. It only needs to magically teach me how to play at a more advanced level 😊.
Best iOS tuner I have ever found
by TaylorPlayer on 2019/12/26 01:26
This is hands down the most accurate and easiest to use tuner I have. Works very fast and is dead on accurate. My guitars have never sounded better ( more in tune). And it has a great metronome and several other features I am still discovering. Just excellent.

Every session
by massmodulater on 2019/12/16 16:44
I’ve had and still have many tuners.

Best app ever.
by LarryStyleson135 on 2019/12/07 14:19
This app is amazing in every way.
A must-have
by MicroChango on 2019/12/04 06:48
I hate spending money on apps.

It is such a great app to use for professional players and beginners.
An essential requirement for any serious musician
by mooremusician on 2019/09/20 15:28
One of the best I have ever seen, Tonal Energy is an essential requirement for any serious musician.

Great app
by jennjdub on 2020/02/22 06:36
This is overall a great app, I mainly use it for the metronome.
