Beware of pedos and all around creeps
by villandi on 2019/10/19 23:57
The app itself isn’t so bad, you ask a question, it gets answered. Mostly customized feed. Interesting to look at. However I’ve noticed an overwhelming amount of pedophiles and just general creeps using it. I find it to be gross (I mean, stories of having sex with your sister when you were 12? Really?!?) but others may not think the same. Just a fair warning to others like me who are a bit more sensitive to things like that.
Poor functionality, restrictions, unnecessary features
by HarryStranger on 2019/10/19 20:07
1. Doesn’t allow to highlight text and look up words 2. Opens unnecessary layers of windows taking time 3. The website doesn’t ask if one wants to open it on the browser, it takes you to the app, taking a lot of time to open it and show an unnecessary layout in which you need to answer some questions. It doesn’t offer you to stay in the browser in case another thing is opened in the Quota app 4. People just want to read stuff, look up words and spend less time on trifle.
I really resent being forced to download an app
by KKincaid on 2019/10/19 13:09
Which is what I had to do today (again) when the website blocked me multiple times from continuing to read something *without* utilizing the app. It doesn’t matter how good the app is when you’re being railroaded into using it.
Why
by Plevi on 2019/10/18 21:56
In the name of heaven sake do you keep interrupting my enjoyment of your wonderful app by asking me to get the app? Then I loose the subject!! Just stop…I don’t need a second app.
Forced and unnecessary
by Not Jimbo on 2019/10/18 19:50
I tried the Quora app some time ago. It did not significantly improve my experience. In fact, I prefer reading Quota in Safari. But you know what? Quora won’t let me! Every time I click on a link in a Quora email to read an answer on a mobile device, I am only permitted to read a very brief portion before a pop-up window appears that gives me the option to continue reading only if I download the app. If this doesn’t change soon, I will be unsubscribing from Quora completely. I’m sure others have already done so.
Awful interface
by Merlilo on 2019/10/18 16:51
This has to be the worst experience I've had with an app. You're reading something and somehow press somewhere and your in a new page with absolutely no way to go back to where you were. Similar thing happens if you have to stop reading and later try to pick up, the app refreshes and shows you a whole set of new questions but there's no history or way to go back to what you were reading 20 minutes before. If a question your read before has new answers it comes back on your feed but you have to scroll and scroll and scroll until you find the new answers (praying meanwhile to no touch any of the myriad of links embedded everywhere). All in all awful and that is making me use it less and less.
I Do Not Want Your Dang App
by Strum27 on 2019/10/18 14:22
I was happily using Quora through my browser, either on my phone or my iPad, because I receive notifications from Quora in my email, and clicking those opens my browser. But lately every I start reading something I get a Quora pop up pushing the App, and it’s either get the app or stop reading Quora. I enjoy reading Quora, but I will stop if Quora continues to insist on use of the app. I downloaded it so I could leave this review, and have already deleted it. Take your heavy handed programming and ..
Horrible app - notifications are mandatory!
by Huairen76 on 2019/10/18 03:59
Site is OK if you block the trolls (of which there are sooooo many!) but the app is awful. I deleted it because it would want permission for notifications at every page change. This makes it unusable. You can’t even access it through the browser, as it demands that the app be used. Just stay away.

by Al Z Heimer on 2019/10/14 21:04
I like notifications but in Quora app only. Getting them stopped in my email is more difficult than it needs to be. If one has the app, why does it continue to send emails. Almost got the emails stopped after several days of trying.
Sick of being forced to the app
by benderino on 2019/10/13 17:54
Seems I can’t do Quora in some (or all?) browsers as the popup pushing the app is a dead end to the app. Done with Quora altogether. Bye bye
Only View questions they want you to
by vdfnnv on 2019/10/13 15:36
I used to be able to view specific topics. Now, those topics are “locked” and I’m forced to only view the questions they want me to view, which is mostly political questions. I don’t want political questions, I want to view the topics I want to view.

Need the app just to use site?
by Sweepout on 2019/10/12 14:43
You shouldn’t need the app just to view the website and both the app and it’s build and download process and the concept of needing the app to just visit the site seems very deceptive and a dirty practice! PASS! Wonder how much they had to pay to be on that list in the App Store?
Quora ask question not working?
by keronb on 2019/10/12 02:20

Good for discussion, has its flaws
by La2222 on 2019/10/09 19:36
This app is pretty good for discussing politics health, music and some other topics. There are certainly A lot of things not to like. For example I have been called out, even banned for a short time for rude or offensive comments. And yet I have always been a reasonable voice, and when you try to find out why you were banned, they never tell you. Also, they seem to allow other people to edit your questions or blend them with similar questions, or “suggest” that your question is worded incorrectly when in fact it is not. Pretty annoying, but overall the good outweighs the bad.

Moderation isn’t good enough
by aousowms on 2019/10/09 01:37
Used to love this app but now realized that Quora moderation only moderates certain type of content. If someone bashes my religion or race and I reply, my reply will be removed while their content will be kept. Seems somewhat biased. Also while quora was supposed to be for factual and reliable content, it’s turned into just another version of yahoo answers with most answers/question being stupid or lacking any intellectual depth
The moderation team is terrible and very racist and biased.
by Hkg12345 on 2019/10/08 23:57
I criticized a white Supramacist’s post and for some reason the moderation team deleted my post and I appealed. They rejected my appeal. I have no further desire to use quora and would not use quora anymore.

by Ron Eng on 2019/10/08 18:02

Entertaining but take it with a grain of salt
by T0pGvn on 2019/10/08 12:03
It is entertaining like the Enquirer tabloid in the States. Many answers though are opinions with no basis on real experience. Lots of propaganda. As long as one realizes it, it is a fun read
Trash
by Eazlyy on 2019/10/08 06:00
You can learn about a lot of stuff from this app but many people are just biased. The people are just toxic. It’s all political heretic. There’s rarely any talk about other stuff than religion and politics.

by guy trying to learn on 2019/10/08 02:06
I’ve been blocked because my profile wasn’t filled out properly (had my last initial instead of my full last name). I filled out my profile with my full first name and last name but can’t figure out how to get ‘unblocked’. It says to go to moderation, fill out a contact form. Can’t find either of those things. Not sure what to do.

Every time I try to read through a post, the GD pop up and blocks the screen. I had the app; I dumped it. Needs some smoothing out
by CodeIO on 2019/10/04 01:54
I really love the concept of this app however when I go to ask a question, I get caught in a loop of associating topics with my question, tap Next, add the people I would line to have answer (which I call authors) then it goes back to selecting topics then to the authors again. So at some point I’ll X out of that loop - not knowing if my question is saved. Apparently it is but it doesn’t show on my Home page until someone answers. Why not simply have my question show on a ‘My Questions’ section until it gets answered?

Fascism at its finest
by Joeturc173629 on 2019/10/03 14:46
I wrote a lengthy respectful post explaining Donald Trumps appeal to someone who had posted the question, only to find that my account had been blocked from answering questions about 24 hours later. My answer that I had written had also been collapsed, all because apparently Quora coincidentally decided my name isn’t Joe, so they perma banned my ability to ask questions or answer without any way of fixing or redressing the so called issue. They insist on identifying you, ban any opinions that aren’t progressive or liberal enough. This is a one stop go for a fascist progressive ideological echo chamber. Oh and I forgot to mention, make sure you capitalize the first (and only first) letter of your first (and last required) name or else that will also perma ban your account.
Too many be nice rules
by pgregory76 on 2019/10/03 06:06
As many have already said, any time you disagree with anyone, no matter how nice you phrase it, you get punished by Quora. There should be absolutely NO rules for how someone comments on a post. It’s asinine to put limitations on someone’s opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if it is stupid, and should be allowed to express that how we they see fit. If someone is offended by that opinion, they can simply not read it. Quora pretends to be a source of information, yet limits and decides what information can be displayed and entered, thereby making themselves hypocrites.

Amazing amount of supportive people
by Jermor8 on 2019/10/02 01:51
there are many clubs that provide a safe space to vent about anything you have on your mind. You can ask almost any question: advice, curiosities, etc. You can also share your experiences with others, helping people learn from your mistakes. To me quora is my therapy, and it’s completely free, no ads or special paid memberships required to use the app to its extent.

demands your full name to make an account. and even worse it shows your name to everyone and there is no way to hide it. and if you dont put your real name you get suspended until you do it. and if you go on the browser it tells you to sign in after you go to another page on the site
Great site but controlled by thought police
by working rich on 2019/10/01 13:34
Great site with tons of topics. Multiple languages Some well informed writers, quite a few who are not. But it does not permit any deviation from the PC CODE. You are not allowed to go off their narrow path. They are quick to censor, even if you are close to the borders. Major drawback is the censorship

Where is dark mode?
by Kadamac on 2019/09/30 23:24
I love really love this app due to the many great questions and answers that it has but we are in 2019 with iOS13 and native dark mode. I still do not see this option in the app and it doesn't happen natively when dark mode is on. Whats with the long hold out on this much requested feature. I love to read and sometimes I am in low light.
Censorship is troubling

Forced to download app
by flameretardant754 on 2019/09/30 04:34

Scammy tactics
by Jafar Zaki on 2019/09/29 19:28
Rating this app 1 star because of the nonsense they do to get downloads. Why am I not allowed to use the safari version without downloading the app? There’s no Cancel button on the pop up and if you click “already have app” it still takes you to the App Store. Garbage tactic and a well deserved 1 star.

Ask a question feature doesn’t work properly
by girlintech on 2019/09/27 04:33
When I try to submit a question as part of the Partner program, the flow keeps getting stuck. After I select the people to request answers from, it takes me back to the page where I select the topics. It keeps going on in a loop where I’m not sure if the question is submitted yet. But when I try to submit the question again on the mobile website, it seems like my question was already posted. Very confusing! I also don’t like how it’s unclear on the mobile web or app where to explain my question in more detail. The part below the question field only suggests putting a link there. Once I start writing a question, the list of similar questions blocks the field to submit an explanation on mobile web and mobile app. It’s unclear how to earn any substantial amount of money from participating in the Partner Program. Each question posted seems to only generate a few cents or nothing at all. Quora also doesn’t proactively educate partners on how to increase earnings or how to receive payments.

by Promiceus on 2019/09/26 07:00
I have some 11 screens of apps with folders on my iPhone. So I’m tired of doing every little move with a dedicated dozen of apps. With services like quora it makes so much sense to just open browser and that’s it. But no, quora will push it’s app in my throat with both hands no matter I like it or not, even if I choke. Annoying pop up that completely blocks the page will take me out of the web page no matter what button I press... You know what guys? I had enough. Bye bye! You’re not the only one and not the most needed thing in the world. If you do not want to respect me and my usage cases - I’ll just leave. Enjoy one less member of the audience...

My New Hobby
by John Ikie on 2019/09/26 00:15
I am not sure exactly when it was that I joined QUORA. All that I know is that for about a year, I enjoyed reading the well thought out articles. Finally in October of 2018 I worked up the courage to answer some questions. It has turned out to be quite fun and stimulating at the same time. Overall, people seem to like most of my responses. Now I am flooded with so many questions, that I have to pick and chose the ones that answer.
Ok.
by Hey🐍 on 2019/09/25 16:30
The app its self is good but it seems like every time I post a question the comments are everything but the answer to my question. People are very quick to assume things and put in there own opinions, which I get is natural, but I’m not here for your opinions I just want a direct answer.

Terrible app issues with Digest
by noblerinthemind on 2019/09/24 12:18
Both the app and the site have always been terrible when it comes to trying to read the email digest they sound out but it’s gotten worse. The deep links from email don’t work - first they send me to Safari. Then if I click on “open in app” it will not link me to the answer I clicked on and the digest is no where to be found. Then if I read on safari a locking pop-up modal stops me from reading any further with no dismiss button. Who programs this stuff. Complete fail on technical level.
I love Quora but...
by DemnLust on 2019/09/24 11:47
I love going on Quora and can easily spend a lot of time enjoying the questions and replies. But I despise being forced to use an app when their is a web version. One I frequently use a business device to browse which can not load random apps for security. And even on my personal device I don’t like loading apps because if they force you to use an app versus the web version that shows they’re trying to gather your personal data.
Could be great but...
by Tylerthompsonmusic on 2019/09/24 01:20
I vastly prefer using the responsive web because of the “pinch to zoom” feature. It’s wildly frustrating that I can’t do that in the app. More frustrating for me is the web periodically creates a blocking modal that tries to force me to use the app. Come on Quora, this is not fair to your low vision users. I don’t want to use the iOS native magnifier; the pinch to zoom feature is way nicer. Add it to your app please!
Absolutely worthless
by tgrfan89 on 2019/09/23 08:48
This is such a trash site. Well unless you’re a crybaby lib that likes to deride the president. Then it’s the greatest site on the internet. If you’re conservative your views have no place on Quora. You also can’t say anything negative to a person that is flat out wrong. They “compress” your reply. Unless like I said you’re a lib. Then it’s ok to say whatever you want. Quora a s it’s moderators are absolute trash.
Works pretty well for an App
by Art_Teacher_Mr_F on 2019/09/22 22:43
While few mobile apps Will perform it as well and provide the bells and whistle’s of interacting directly with the website, this app does a fairly good job of providing most of the options accessible from the website. Many users will end up using or at least trying the app, since the website harangues you at every turn to try the app and use it. I understand that the app provides the company with additional data but for some people the website is more convenient, for others the app. The largest advantage of the app is that it lets you pull your phone out when you have a free moment and read something from your favorite writer, space or provide an answer. Search is better done through a browser using a search engine than with their built in but very anemic search function. Working with images and giving feedback are much better via the web. When reporting an answer for a policy violation, the web allows you to add text to explain the report, while the app does not allow this. The reports of political bias are completely hilarious, made by the “my viewpoint justifies any behavior I want to engage in” crowd. Quora has large groups of users of various political stances, from various political parties in various countries around the world. Each have dedicated groups (now more easily found on Spaces) and each find themselves sanctioned for violating the Be Nice Be Respectful policy, spam, plagiarism, or other rules that the site makes an effort to enforce in order to make it a good and useful resource as opposed to a swamp like Yahoo Answers or 4Chan. Conservatives, Moderates, Liberals and members of numerous parties flourish there while others find themselves sanctioned or kicked off for repeatedly being insulting or harassing regardless of their specific ideology. The Quora Partners Program provides people a chance to make money by asking good questions but the side effects created by some people’s tactics have caused a considerable number of users to enjoy the site a great deal less. It is constantly under revision and hopefully these side effects will be brought under control. The “Spaces” feature is highly flexible and allows people to form communities of various types where they can share Quora answers, outside web content, original writing or some mixture of these. This provides people with various interests a way to gather and interact to varying degrees based on a common set of interests. Some are more like blogs, some are more like Sub-Reddits, some are more like single interest web forums. There are quite a few and the number is increasing daily, so there is likely one or several that cover a topic you find interesting. If you want answers that are often given by people with expertise, interesting personal stories and experiences, and a social media experience rather than a set of dry answers, then this site is something you’ll find useful and interesting. While far from perfect, Quora offers a different range of experiences than most information sharing sites.

Splendid. All the queries are answered in a decipherable way with lots of information from several sources. The write-ups are well defined by the learned answers. Enjoyed lots with having Quora digest besides me. Spending enough time each day with it. Thanks Quora.
Support for IOS 10
by Cgninja12 on 2019/09/20 09:32
I cannot update my iPad due to storage issues and there was a recent Quora update that makes it so I cannot use the app. It says "you are using Quora on an old version of IOS". Please help.
Let me use website I don’t want another app

Dark Mode
by _CG on 2019/09/18 06:42
I use this app at night a lot and with the direction iOS is going, I think dark mode should he incorporated into the interface. It bothers me that of all the apps on my phone this is the only one without dark mode.
Rude to writers

Rules are not posted in a place where they can be found. Answers are randomly taken down without probable cause. This site is a waste of time. I deleted my account.
Overbearing
by Nonicknamesareavailabl on 2019/09/17 22:53
I keep attempting to use the webpage, because the email alerts that I get for the website open the webpage when I click on it on my phone. About 30 seconds into reading, it comes up with an on skippable pop-up that requires me to download the app. This is not what I want, and you’re going to stop it. Even the possibility of opting out of this would be an improvement, but as it is, it’s spam. Take your one star, you’ve earned it.

A more apt name
by rickgwin on 2019/09/16 23:30
A more apt name would be Blind Leading the Blind. Many of the questions are asinine their responding answers are terrible. Sometimes the questions are great and have great answers. It’s really a crapshoot.
So frustrating
by Hb85433456311255 on 2019/09/16 22:42
The website doesn’t allow me to read Quora on Safari (iPhone) because it keeps asking me to either download the app or click the hyperlink that I already have the app. I indeed already have the app, so I click that hyperlink. Rather than opening the question in the app, the hyperlink takes me to the App Store. I already have the app. I don’t want to have to search for the question again in the app. If the app opens the same question upon clicking ‘I already have the app’ great, otherwise, argh!! Plus there is no way to dismiss this message ... no little x in the corner... nothing :(
Why?!
by Selkhatib on 2019/09/16 03:06
I am terribly annoyed with the way this app was forced down my throat. I wasn’t able to finish reading one paragraph without the “continue reading in app” popping up and basically forcing me to download it. That’s why you deserve a one star and even less if I could. It doesn’t make anything easier for me. Makes no difference where I choose to read or search for info.
Incessantly demands notifications be turned on
by GBH Hornswoggler on 2019/09/14 21:03
The current version of this app has a pop-up asking the user to activate notifications. This appears Every. Single. Time. the home screen appears - after reading any answer, or doing anything else. App is currently useless until this horrible UI is removed. I may visit Quora on a full computer, but I won’t touch this app.

Politically biased.
by ScipioXII on 2018/02/25 19:10
While they have a fairly good BNBR (be nice be respectful) policy. The way they enforce it is up for question though. Trust me, don’t write answers or comments that trigger any sort of bad feelings, even when the person is wrong. It’s worse when that line of words goes against their political ideal. As I said before, their policy is good, but how they enforce it is very flawed and biased. It’s a reason why sometimes it feels like an echo chamber and not entirely reliable to find an answer. If you attempt to debate someone for they have given an factually incorrect answer, you risk your account being suspended. It almost feels as if it appeals to how people feel towards an answer rather than the merit from it. More than once have I found a top written answer that is intellectually dishonest but because that person pulled some heartstrings and is a top writer, his answer becomes a top rated since his/or her followers have upvoted the answer to golden. 1/5 stars because it strives to be a place for knowledge but it has no room for wisdom. Reliable answers are for topics that have very little room for opinions. However some of the most popular topics like politics are a breeding ground for opinions to take root and appear as facts. Even though I use quora daily, I don’t enjoy using it and I plead that Quora manages their community to treat us as adults and not as children.
Loving Quora
by Anon, too on 2019/03/07 08:20
Wow, just discovered it a few weeks ago and already it proves too much of a distraction! It’s given me many occasions to reflect on an issue that I know is important but maybe don’t know very much about -I have a particular blind spot re: Latin America - or it’s something I have studied but perhaps haven’t thought about in a while and thus am forced to collect my thoughts before answering. I’ve made some surprising discoveries doing that! It sometime shows me how or how much my views might have changed - strengthened in cases, weakened in others. I’ve had some very rewarding exchanges with people here. Happy to report something I wrote was apparently funny enough to make a stranger on the other side of the world pee her pants! I’ve also come across, unfortunately some disturbing questions or comments - most of which just show how deeply polarized a society can be. And then there have been a few intentionally provocative (in an ugly way) statements that I did not restrain pen or tongue long enough prevent me from replying with an uncivil post — a few of which have been deleted by the admins, appropriately in my view.
Copy and Paste during answering/commenting a question does not work on iPhone !
by Jaybond63 on 2018/06/07 17:09
It is just ridiculous that there is no way to copy and paste what you are writing as an answer on Quora from the app on the iPhone to Notes or anywhere else for that matter. It used to be that you could copy and paste within Quora. This helped me a lot especially when I forgot a point someone made and I wanted to go back and read it during commenting. Before I would just copy where I am in the comment the clipboard; exit the comment; read the point I missed; and then go back into a reply and paste where I left off. It seems that in an effort to contain everything written on Quora within Quora, you guys have resorted to enclosing us within your system. This is utterly unfair !!! I recently discovered that you treat the content your users write as your own personal content. We are not your writers though you treat us like employees. Allow me to copy and paste my answer anywhere that I please ! For Christ’s sake, my messages and answers are intellectual property. I should have a way on the iPhone to copy and paste them somewhere else. Please either fix this issue and introduce a way to migrate our content to local folders and files. I repeat, answers are our property and not yours. Even if you utilize it as yours, and we may have signed away our rights when we signed up. But it is wrong to try blocking your users from existing outside your ecosystem.
Ridiculous App
by Mtn Dave on 2018/05/09 12:50
This is such a ridiculous app, that I think Apple should remove it from the App Store. I downloaded the App because it flashed up like an old “pop-up” ad. The App appeared to contain information that I needed it. As soon as I tried to read it, there was a true “pop-up” that appeared over the information. This “pop-up” suggested that I go to the App Store and download their App. I didn’t care to do so, and I tried to click back to the content. This was not possible! The only option that you have is to go download the App, so I did so (my terrible error). Apparently there was something in their system indicating that I had already downloaded the App. I finally got back to the informational part of the App, and I couldn’t find the information that I had at first needed. Well, hardheaded person that I am, I decided to ask a question to see if perhaps I could get some good answers. When I began to type my question, I was stunned to see no spacebar on the keyboard. Maybe I missed something, but I found this App to be less than worthless. If I could give it a minus star I would do so. What really tops the cake, if you click on the “Developer Website” button the App Store page, darned if you you don’t get the same “Pop-up” that will not allow you to access the Developer Website without downloading the App. This makes me feel even more positive in my suggestion that you not download the App, and that Apple remove it from the App Store.
This app ruins the Quora experience.
by Theresa5155 on 2018/12/24 15:43
As much as I enjoy Quora I’ve come to despise the app. It ruins my ability to access Quora content via the website or email by blocking website content and misdirecting requests to ‘read more’ from an email. Before I had the app I would get directed to the website from a daily email I would get. Right around the time I’m in the middle of a good answer, a pop up appears on my screen recommending that I download the app. The problem is that there’s no way to close the pop up. You either close the page before finishing the answer or download the app. Useless. Finally I had enough and downloaded the app. Now my emails open the app when I want to ‘read more’ of an answer. Unfortunately the app doesn’t take me directly to the answer I was interested in. It takes me to a feed with different questions. So I give up on the email question that brought me to the app in the first place and start browsing the feed and reading an answer to a new question. Right around the time I’m in the middle of that answer, the screen switches to the answer from the question in the email. Useless. After finishing the email answer, it doesn’t take me back to the question that it interrupted me from, instead it takes me back to my feed and that question is nowhere in sight. Useless.

I enjoy Quara very much- so many , many different viewpoints and helpful hints especially about why men and women cheat, about why men keep a girlfriend from high school that they love on the side , yet because it’s so late in their life like being in their 60s the don’t seem to love the wife but want high school lover instead , about emotional and verbal abuse why women stay , about different races, music, science, human behavior , what men wish women would do and vice verse why our pets are important , backstabbing g friends, how our parents raised us and it’s affect on us years later when we are in our 60s, what love and being “ in “ love means - I’m truly addicted to this site such a diversity of topics and I enjoy trying to read them all ! It’s simply a very fascinating site that I read every day if only for a few minutes- especially subjects about why men do certain things and us women as well ! Thank you for having it for us keep it going please‼️‼️‼️‼️
Complaints — 1 with app, 1 with how certain things are handled/mediated.
by Bob_Noyb on 2019/07/17 00:11
1.) Often questions are asked which are location dependent, but the question is very vague/basic in its asking. It would be nice to know, at least, the country, if not the city/state of question location. An often asked question example is “What is the best first car to purchase?” Well, that depends on if the questioner is in Los Angeles, Köln, Shanghai, Nairobi, or Bangalore. But finding the questioner’s location is not trivial (at least to me), and would be very helpful for answering. 2.) Questions are often merged (by some sort of mediator), since many-many-MANY-MAAANY questions are very similar or nearly identical. But, sometimes the merged questions are not truly similar at all (so I assume the mediator is (not to be insulting) ignorant of the subject and is merging the question based on wording rather than true knowledge of the subject), and there does not seem to a mechanism to inform the mediator they should un-merge the two questions. Sometimes the questions are merged that ARE somewhat similar, but (maybe) should not be as they are dissimilar enough to rightfully be separated IMHO. I WOULD like to inform the mediator of my opinion in either case.
Loved it at first, but then..
by the cutiee on 2018/11/11 03:57
So I saw Quora online and loved the questions and the nice well-thought answers people would give back. So I downloaded the app to ask questions myself. I got on, asked a question and scrolled through the app for a little bit and I was done. Next day I see my account says I have zero questions. I thought that was weird so I asked the same question again thinking the app just glitched. I see again today that it still hasn’t posted my question. So I go to post another one today and it says “you have been blocked from asking questions.” WHATTTT??? For what reason? I have not been using this app inappropriately or bullying anyone of the sort, so I’m highly confused. The only reason I can think of why I was blocked is because the question I asked offended one of the “Quora employees” if that makes sense. My question was “what should I say when my overweight friend asks if she’s fat?” It wasn’t a rude question, it was honest. My friend is well overweight and I’m concerned for her health and I’m trying to say something without offending her. So I’m really annoyed right now because I was looking forward to getting answers to my question. Since I cannot ask questions there is no point in using the app.
Fine
by Jbwoy79 on 2018/03/15 03:54
The previous review was talking about political questions. Unless there was a no politics no religion ban, you will always have conjecture, rhetoric and biased points of view. It is an open forum, and aside from ad hom and foul language, people are free to speak their mind. But there is nothing wrong with an open debate that focuses on politics having spin. People are still given upvotes and if you feel an answer is wrong just don’t follow them, and if people keep upvoting bs block them too. The site is well managed, and while you can find nonsense in there..if you take the time to choose reliable people to interact with, your gonna get more reliable answers. My only qualm would be that people upvote people because of their celebrity and sometimes they make the content secondary to the topic and question. And of course being an open forum there is content that is not accurate. But these people are rarely upvotes and their content is ussually not found on your feed.
Love Quora, don’t like being forced to the app
by S.L.B.M. on 2019/01/06 18:44
The app is great and works great for me. However, when I click an email from Quora to read more, it opens in safari and my feed proceeds there. Lately, not long after I start reading, I get a permanent message window, blocking the rest of the answer, telling me to download the app and preventing me from seeing the rest of the comments I am trying to read. There is no way to clear out of it. When I click to go to the app, it goes to the App Store first. By the time I get to the app, it is not on that question anymore and I don’t get to finish reading what I had started. I need to figure out how to have the email open in the app or there needs to be a way to click out of it or if I click to go to the app, it should continue where I was so I can finish the question I was reading. I couldn’t find a way in the app to leave feedback about this so I left a review here instead.
Violation of privacy
by StephenJSpace on 2019/04/04 16:05
I despise monopolised requirements to provide personally identifiable information for the sake of than selling that info to affiliates of the company thus pushing the consumer to buy something they are not interested in and making the company money. The sad part is the company denies this justified malicious business practice and smothers it with legalese and candied phrases connivingly scripting the companies representatives to ignorantly state things like ‘We do not sale identity information’ but refuse to admit that they do sale public information about you; like you name, address, phone number and your family and friends that you have an affiliation with. This ‘public information’ is stolen from your profiles of your social networks like - in this case - google or Facebook, that they force you to register with to ‘access all features and provide the best possible experience’. I say monopolised because a significant number of articles are exclusively linked to this platform meaning that it’s not very productive to remove this platform if you want to stay in touch. You can’t hide these facts from me I can translate the legalese, from you terms and conditions, into laymen’s terms.
I wonder?
by Dace C. on 2018/10/03 19:33
I often wonder why I spent so much time reading Quora? I'm an ex broadcast news reporter, which translate in my case to be a news junkie. But Quora is opinions. That being good, bad or indifferent, it is 100% personal opinions. Not based on research, not based on interviews, but instead based entirely on personal opinion. That opinion is sometimes based on solid past experiences and training, but opinion nevertheless. I believe I am drawn to Quora because traditional journalism based on who, what, when, where and why is 85% gone. Sure, there are still examples of crew journalism, and investigative journalism at some major newspapers, and other journalism organizations. But for the most part today's journalism carries little more weight for me then Quora. But at least Quora makes no bones about the fact that they are opinion, even identifing those people making the opinion. Whereas journalism still tries to present itself as fair minded and fact not opinion. I am a leaning left moderate politically and in most of my opinions. I don't pay much more attention to CNN these days, as I do and have to Fox news for the last few years. I enjoy Quora because it is fun to read, and helps me to widen my view on the world issues because of the vastly different opinions on such a long variety of topics. Quora is not a substitute or replacement for old fashion journalism, but Quora never said it was.
Share what you care about
by bowfin24 on 2019/05/07 13:30
Quora is a fascinating concept that reminds me of the old moderated newsgroups in the early days of the internet. The quality of the questions and answers varies widely, but in general those making the answers seem articulate (almost to a fault, at times) and knowledgeable. The record keeping seems incomplete and could be more useful. I would like to know how many upvotes my answers get, and which answers I gave received the most attention. Navigating is not user friendly, although when I use the site more (only two weeks so far) I might change my mind. I don’t understand what happens when I say “thanks for your A2A”. Do you get extra ‘credit’? This points out why I didn’t give five stars — how to use the site is not easy to learn.
Disgusting
by Sadaluc on 2018/07/26 20:31
I clicked a link on Facebook that lead me to the Quora website. I started to read the article, but after a couple seconds, a screen popped up that told me that if I wanted to continue reading, I had to enter my email. Not wanting to give this website my email, I exited without providing any of my information. The next day, I started receiving emails from this website. The website knew my name and had compiled a series of articles that it thought i might enjoy. WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE INVASION OF PRIVACY. I made the conscious choice to NOT give this company my email. And what do they do? Go ahead and sign me up for their email list anyway. Why even bother asking people for their email if you’re just going to access all their information through Facebook anyway? To give the illusion that you’re not completely invading our privacy, I suppose. To create a facade. I have absolutely NO TOLERANCE for companies like these. How dare you steal people’s information for your own benefit? Shame on you. I will NEVER click a link to this website again and I will continue to tell everyone to stay away from this selfish, desperate, and pathetic company.
Good Premise Horrible Execution
by 66thstmike on 2018/12/15 17:35
Two very big issues have lead me to delete my account as well as the app itself. First is their arbitrary and seemingly biased enforcement of their, “Be nice,” policy. What my experience has been is when your views favor a conservative or really anything that isn’t fitting with a liberal, politically correct point of view, it will be flagged then deleted. Of course it doesn’t matter that you haven’t sworn or attacked someone personally. It also doesn’t matter what was written that you were responding to. Their attacks are perfectly ok. Whoever it is that’s making these decisions are completely biased. They are the ones who decide if your tone or whatever it is they find offensive is a violation of this ridiculous policy. Secondly the app itself as well as the interface is terrible. It’s not user friendly, confusing and makes looking at or for the very content you were just given a notification for difficult. The concept is great and hopefully another developer creates a better and fairer program that actually allows free speech. I believe it’s because of these issues Quora hasn’t become a big success.
I “USED” to like Quora...
by Nobody P7 on 2018/12/01 10:17
Until I was reading a long comment on their website and got a large ad over the screen that I was unable to move or click off of telling me to get the app. So, this means that you would now have to download their app in order to see if you even like it first and finish reading what you were viewing if you are even able to find it again after downloading the app. I’ve had it before but have always became bored with it after a while of not finding anything interesting to read for a while after having the app. It just started taking up space. Again, you can always remove the app if you do not like it. However if you choose to download the app in order to continue to read the comment that you were reading before you had to install the app, it does not take you back to where you were at. Therefore you have to try and find the comment again if your able to. So many people post on these types of websites that it’s not always easy to go back to where you were at. No thanks. I will stick with Reddit. Much better and a lot more interesting too.
Power sucker
by Digital_dreamer on 2019/06/26 17:14
The developers really need to work on optimizing this app for power efficiency. It consumes way too much power to keep it running, even in the background (iPhone 6) You can actually watch the battery percentage drop while typing. And, needless to say, my phone gets very hot while using it. I have to quit the app, if I want to preserve battery power for the rest of the day. This is bad programming and not acceptable for an app that just views text and facilitates the editing of text. The other issue is the inability to highlight specific text while editing your post. The app will either scroll all the way up or all the way down. Extremely frustrating and ridiculous. This issue has been going on long enough and makes one wonder if Quora developers actually use the app in the real world. This wouldn’t be so bad if one could enter and format text in another app, perhaps adding style tags, then copy and paste the text within the Quora app and expect it to retain the formatting.
Forced to install the app to delete my account
by splashofcolor on 2019/06/17 23:16
I have had an account on Quora for years. I responded to a post and was flagged because the a moderator didn’t like my name, even thought it’s been the same on there for years. So, I tried to delete my account, but was forced to install the app to do it. Then, it wanted the password I used when I signed up, but I used Google sign-in, so I didn’t have one. It said I needed to create a password and sent me a link. When I got the link, it said it was expired and sent me back to the app. I tried to request it again, but was then notified that I already requested a password reset and wasn’t allowed another one. I had to log in again via Google sign-in to deactivate my account. Only after that was I allowed to request account deletion. Also, I received 502 site errors repeatedly during this whole cumbersome process. I already wasn’t using the app, because I found the features buggy and lacking. Then I’m forced to install it again to leave? Ridiculous. Keep the account. If you don’t like my name, you don’t need me in your community. Period.
Emails and app not linked
by Ameliorator on 2019/01/26 17:11
So I get Quora emails with articles I want to read, click on them so they open in a browser window, and then the message pops up halfway through the article I’m reading telling me to get the app. But I already have the app. And when I click on the icon (which you cannot ignore) to ‘get the app, it sends me to the App Store and even though I open the app from the App Store I will never find the rest of the item I was reading. I have all the pieces necessary but I still cannot read complete articles. I would like the link from my email to be more intelligent, detect that I ALREADY have the app, and open the article or whatever in the app so this does not happen. Also, if I’m reading an article on the browser and it wants me to read it in the app, it should link me to the app. BECAUSE I ALREADY HAVE IT. This is very frustrating and I may stop trying to read things at all through Quora and right now I’m trying to decide if I want to just stop emails and delete the app altogether.
About the app, not the site
by alarob on 2018/12/04 00:15
Quora is a great community, OK? That’s despite the increasingly high-pressure monetization of the site’s audience. Quora has also just suffered a data breach. I’ve just come from resetting my password after Quora warned me that my info may have been compromised. You can also get to Quora via a computer web browser, and I promise you the experience will be an improvement over this app. Nevertheless, if you access the site in a mobile browser, Quora has recently taken to hiding the site with an overlay — forcing you to download the app in order to continue. It’s a brute-force move that communicates contempt for users. At least that’s how I felt, having just been directed to the web — not the app — to reset my compromised password. I stayed to read one eye-catching answer, only to be interrupted by this insulting overlay. It had a shining sun and fluffy clouds on it. Now about this app: I use it almost every day, but I often swear at it. For a text-based app, Quora is (still) a huge resource hog. It will drain your battery as fast as many games. Connection failures are frequent. There is nothing you can do about it; just close the app and find something else to do. Fortunately the app is very good about saving your work automatically, in case you are writing an answer. Every now and again I delete the app from my phone for the sake of my mental health. I suppose that’s a good practice with any addictive app.
Silly to force web users to use app
by theOgPBMax on 2018/07/01 03:24
It’s quite frustrating to make perfectly happy users of the web experience convert to the app. I downloaded just so I could check it out and review. Appears to be undifferentiated capability in the app; Quora you have the approach reversed. Not sure what the strategy is aside from wasting users time and frustrating them. As for me, uninstalling the app and since web version doesn’t seem to be an option, so I suppose I’m done with quora so I’ll unsubscribe to mailing list. I install very few apps, only those with differentiated capability from web offering, otherwise the web wins. The company I work for has made a difficult but wise decision for our product offering; put apps on life support and double down on our web offering; seems like a good strategy for Quora unless they are sitting on a pile of cash with nothing to do or some fantastic app strategy. A bit interesting but typically for me has been a waste of time. Sorry Quora.
So many problems I don’t ever know what to say
by Fhdgffhgfgf on 2019/04/22 00:46
To start with I don’t know why you changed the old UI. It was comfortable and easy to use, and for me easier to use one handed. Why did you move the profile menu to the top left of the screen? Literally the opposite side of the screen from where the average right handed person rests their hand? What was wrong with the old design? Why do I have to go through 4 menu screens to see my questions and answers? I just don’t get it. Change for the sake of change I guess. Edit: With continued use of the app I have encountered 2 bugs that require a restart of the app to fix. And 1 that requires me to return to home then continue. 1. The keyboard will not retract while browsing the app. The buttons on the bottom cannot be seen or pressed. This requires a full restart of the app. 2. When clicking the profile menu in the top left hand corner it does not open my profile and instead opens the question category selection menu. This requires a full restart of the app. 3. The “Next” button when selecting people to request answers from does not work. It has the appearance of being pressed but after waiting minutes for it to do something that normally took half a second it does not do anything. Pressing it again does not work either. This requires me to cancel out, find the question I wanted to request answers to, and re-select everyone I wanted to ask. I had none of these problems before the update.

Quora was one of my favorite apps in my mobile, I deleted recently as it became unbearable to mute or downvote the topics, authors, questions I might like. . I still search in Quora for all my questions. I used to spend at least 1 hr per day reading great people answers, options, wisdom in their answers and learn a bit or two from quora. Now, quora is very annoying as it keeps suggesting me ocean of topics / authors and it’s not possible for me to mute all those things. I’ve given 3 stars because it’s worth it. I can download the again only after I see better FEED algorithm which let’s me have more controls to choose topics I’m interested than the robo suggesting me what I like to read or follow. PS: I’ve no complaints with the links as that’s how quora earns money, but please stop all those suggestion of authors, topics questions I want to follow. Edit: I down voted(1*) quora as it is becoming more and more annoying and deleted the app. I would not download the app until I see quora feed improved. There is limit for everything.
used to be informational
by DuoTooTwo on 2019/09/08 04:22
Once upon a time, i would turn on quora and find myself hours later realizing i had become lost in the midst of phenomenal information. Pieces of history never previously heard, battles of war with strategies that gave a reason why battles were won or lost, information that was useful or could put the snippet away for the future, all were intriguing, But one day when i opened quora an article spoke about sexual fantasies, then another, then about death, sexual abuse and other life's very personal news events and associated weirdness. Such as how to avoid arrests, police searches, made up questions by the person answering and bizarre stories that were in most cases fantasies. With little or no oversight, a great platform became tragic and i lost the urge to explore, mathematical questions repeated OVER and OVER, with all those pieces gone now the main reasons why i loved the app disappeared in a flash. It's sad that a great app lost its vision and now its population is eroding to another useless platform of useless or bogus information.
Don’t download.
by Animal Luver🤓😝 on 2019/08/04 08:07
If your looking through the ratings to see if you should download, DONT. This app is really bad. I asked two questions and gave advice on one other question and then BAM! IM BLOCKED FROM ASKING QUESTIONS OR DOING ANYTHING ON THIS APP!! Why?! I HAVE NO CLUE!! I asked simple questions like, “Why do bullies bully people” and “How do I stop a bully from bullying me” but apparently what EVERYONE wonders about is inappropriate and therefore needs to get blocked! 😡😡 I’m 13 and have so many questions I can’t find answers to on other sites such as, “Why does my sister ignore me” “What should I do in highschool if I don’t have friends” and the app is just like, “oH SorRY BuT YoUr BloCKeD. YoU CaNt AsK QuEstIonS Or AnsWeR TheM AnyMoRe. AND I DONT EVEN KNOW WHY!! IM NOT EVEN MENTIONING THE CONSTANT ADS. Everywhere is just, ad, ad, ad, oh hey, your reading a question, HERES AN AD RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. Oh and you have to scroll down and search for the text but the ad won’t tell you that. This app is really annoying and I’m keeping this rating up and deleting the app until they fix it. 😤😤😤
Gave Correct Answer but Quora Deleted
by chiaroscurofx on 2019/07/03 19:57
I gave a detailed answer to a question and it was well written and correct. However I received notice it had been deleted. When I tried to reinstate answer I don’t think anything reappeared. I tried contacting Quora but the connection kept failing and kept saying to repeat. I tried to delete my account but since I forgot my password I requested a new one. A link was sent to my address and I could see my confirmation for a new password did not match. I tried to have Quora resend a new link to reset, but they kept saying they sent one. It was awful. I don’t see any other sites where working this way. I shut down every ability to contact me in lieu of their poor interface and finally just deleted the app. Giving the app 2 stars is being very generous. I once liked Quora to find out information, but now I see it needs much improvement if you’re a member. In addition, the quality of answers declined.
Got a feed? See something interesting? TOO BAD!
by pres0049 on 2018/11/23 06:06
This ridiculous app has been like this since I got on Quora years ago. If you have an email digest and see something interesting you wish to read, too bad! Tapping the link immediately opens the app, but that interesting answer? Doesn’t show up. Sorry, losers, you get the LONG, HARD way to find the answer. Use the search bar. Oh, that doesn’t bring up the answer either, because it’s buried in 2 million other questions, answers, and topics? Well, you should check out the other answers in your carefully curated fed. You didn’t actually want to read what you thought you did. The only reason this idiotic app is back on my iPad is because Quora, in their INFINITE WISDOM has again made it impossible to browse on my phone or iPad dues to the unremovable pop up Quora app ad. Dear developers, web and mobile: I well and truly loathe you people, since I have to resort to *Google* on a *desktop* in order to read anything that comes in my digest. Excellent job iFailing.
Quora is not perfect but it’s the best I’ve seen.
by MetaMaker on 2018/03/19 14:15
Quora is not perfect but it’s the best I’ve seen. There is no other place I know of where you can a question and get truly good (and sometimes great) response on everything from condensed matter and super conductors to comics to Tolkien to “what is the most German thing ever?” It manages to do so in a generally polite way. There are some snarky answers. There is also a bit of occasional trolling. But if you come to it with a real sense of curiosity and respect you can learn so much. The site has made a number of tweaks, not all of which I like or think are helpful. And there are certainly a few I’d love to see incorporated. But I respect the company for constantly trying to improve rather than being content to stick with what works until it stops.
The value of Quora for me
by 2Old2learn on 2019/08/12 13:17
I am medically retired due to short term memory problems. Writing seems to help me with my mental organization. Perhaps it's the concentration. I've always been interested in writing and when young I had a love of reading. Unfortunately, I had a poor education during the forced integration of our southern schools, that disrupted the effective learning of all involved. As a white man, I'd love to hear the impact it had on my colored classmates. Did it enable them to get a better education? Did it make them become more comfortable being around white people? Did it inspire them to become socially active. There is a perception that racism is a one way street. My life experience has taught me that's an incorrect narrative. I treat all people with the same kindness, generosity, and opportunity for friendship. Yet, across my 63 years of life, I've had only one black friend. When we were young, we had insecurities of each other, but as adults we should be more open to others. Our maturity should allow us to reach across these chasms of misunderstanding. We are one people, none of us had anything to do with our past that separated us.
Biased. Period.
by HMGTN21 on 2019/01/20 19:40
I didn’t have a good experience. I had debates with people over religion & politics that had incorrect answers. The “be kind to everyone” policy is only for those who are liberal. If you’re conservative, Christian, or Republican; this app is not for you. The last question I asked was completely true & honest; but Quora called it a “joke” while I had so many overwhelmingly rude answers. Quora did not do their job to remove or block those rude & intolerant users. Instead, they blocked ME. I had many people think that education would answer a question that focused on morals, but no one answered with wisdom. So Quora, if you are going to better yourself, you need to not be one-sided & let EVERYONE that has different views of politics & different religious beliefs answer/ write a question without suspending them. If you are going to punish someone who wasn’t nice, it should be because they are insulting & cursing each other. Don’t be so intolerant of people different from you. That’s what’s wrong with society.
Good platform, meh app
by J35321743631111 on 2018/09/29 16:10
The platform is great, but this is about the app. The app is not user friendly and very convoluted. When you click on an answer, you only see that answer and that question. There isn’t a “more answers” button after you read the first answer. To see more answers, you scroll to the top and click on the question. Think about that. Because that is non obvious, people answer the question in the comment to the promoted answer. There is some new issue with notifications. I have 6 new for me but clicking the 6 doesn’t indicate what they are or how to clear them. That is the tell tale sign of bad app development. Notifications should ALWAYS clearly show what is being notified. Needless to say, I have all notifications and alerts off. But the badge is still in the app. Following a link from an email works about 1/3 the time. Usually it just takes you to the app and does nothing.
Curious iPhone X implementation + Nags
by tb2112 on 2018/07/29 18:41
Been using Quora since it was scarcely known to most, and have always liked it. I am accustomed to receiving content notifications in the form of a daily email from Quora. I find it particularly irritating that every time I open the Quora app via links in this email, that it continues to ask me to turn enable notifications. It completely ignores the countless times I’ve already responded “NO”! On the iPhone X, the new screen size implementation seems half baked. The main app UI is great, but when displaying content the UI switches to black bars top and bottom which feels just like an app that still hasn’t been updated for iPhone X screen. It seems like the the tool bar should either not be disappearing, or else the content should display as a full screen format with a single background color, to complete the update.
Make previously read answers accessible
by Jah Baked on 2019/03/18 15:52
I love Quora and reading the content on it. However, the app is a little difficult to navigate. I remember it being easier a few years ago but now when I want to go back to finish reading an answer, the app refreshes and that answer is lost forever in the sea of information. It's incredibly frustrating and no, turning off the background refresh in iOS settings does not help at all. On top of that, I can't even find where to access my bookmarks so even if I bookmark an answer to prevent from losing it, it's still lost. I'm sure there's feature that allows me to access those things but it's seems like it's been hidden from plain sight on purpose. I really, really wanna give Quora five stars and beyond but with this current version, they don't deserve it. I hope this gets their attention so I can I can one day use one of my favorite apps with ease.
Good place to learn new things of any subject, develop self, get business ideas
by Tanklet on 2019/03/21 16:28
I’m new on Quora. It is best to be specific in searches and questions and ignore superfluous bot generated questions. What surprised me was they let you post links. So many people use quora to further business opportunity by generating their own internet traffic in their answers. It isn’t done in a trolling way but in honesty in a genuine answer. Some answers seem like real people and some seem not generated but the answers are many times very good, so who cares. So in three days I have learned new possibilities to earn income. worked on social skills, and am searching for hobbies or various interests. I haven’t been there long enough to find any serious downsides. I don’t recommend posting personal info because they demand your real name. I wish they did not do that because how can people learn if they fear incrimination at work or other places? But some names are obviously fake and have not been removed. They have your email so they know where it is generated from anyway. So I don’t get the point of names. Just responsibly post like any site.
I right reviews and they often don’t show up.
by ieff1982 on 2019/02/13 05:00
I ask questions in Quora and get pretty reasonable answers one answer I got was from a lawyer about a bacterial infection I picked up after routine surgery to remove a cyst that was benign, it was a difficult operation because it grew rather-large very quickly. The hole in my back made it so I had to go to a skilled nursing facility the place was a pig pen and I caught an antibiotics resistant stain of mrsa. Thanks that individuals advice I have a lawyer working on negotiating a settlement and while holding out is hard I know I’m going to be compensated fairly. And more importantly it should make disinfecting a top priority at the facility.i often try to provide feedback to questions I know something about and sometimes I show up & other times it doesn’t. So idiot why that is.
A good app except...
by Alphonse 3455 on 2019/08/28 18:49
Okay,so I got this app about a month or two ago, and I loved all that the conversations and debates I had with other people over certain topics and I also loved that you can learn stuff you haven’t learned before in this app about superheroes, movies, comics, esc. But one day I was in an argument where the question was:Who would win? Iron man vs Batman? And unfortunately I called this guy (I was arguing with) an idiot and I regret speaking my mind and insulted someone, and then a few days after that happened I got a notification saying quora deleted my comment and said “I violated there acceptable use policy”. And what doesn’t make since is that quora will delete my comment calling someone an idiot but will allow people to right stories about there sex life and allow comments where people are cussing other people out. So that’s my opinion.
Corrupted by greed
by il Renzo on 2019/09/05 12:24
This site purports to be a forum where people ask serious questions that they want serious, well considered answers to. Some “Quorans” have posted thousands of questions When I see this, I assume that the poster belongs to the Quora Partner Program (QPP) . Members of the QPP are motivated to post questions less, perhaps, because they sincerely want to know the answer and more because they get paid if their question gets a lot of ‘hits’ and generates traffic which the advertisers like. This motivates them to make up questions that are sometimes sincere and sometimes are bogus and frivolous which clutter up the site with annoying nonsense questions: “My daughter refuses to go to church with the family on Sundays. I punished her by locking her in the basement. Was I too lenient?” or “What fruits begin with the letter P? ” When I first started here on Quora, I naively assumed that every post was sincere. I remember how many times I thought long and hard about someone’s issue and carefully crafted an articulate and well considered reply. Now, I wonder if I had been fooled. It has made me wary and cynical. Does the person I am responding to really need my advice or are they just accruing points to make a buck off of me! Now, I routinely “mute” anyone who has posted what I consider an unrealistically high number of questions.
Bad gmail integration
by Su27mit on 2018/05/31 14:49
The review isn’t against Quora. Quora is a great site which is extremely informative. The review is against their mobile app. The interface between the mobile app and gmail is really terrible. When you click on a question on gmail for example, rather than redirecting people to the right question, it redirects to a random question on the app. If you click on the response, it takes you to that specific response and one has to jump through hoops to get other responses for the same question. Quoras mobile website on the other hand is so much better and accurate. It’s a shame they cannot do the same with the app.
Hating news and articles links on my feed
by mjusay on 2018/02/07 15:15
// update // Sometime after posting this, my Quora was link free. I shared my experience to other people on Quora and now the links are back again. I never missed the links nor asked for them to return it. This morning, there was a link that says “China zoo feeds puppies to pythons” something I wish I would never saw! Annoying and definitely stupid new implementation that nobody seems to enjoy. I guess someone is trying to sabotage Quora. ///// Quora implemented a beta feature on my account where they added links of articles and news on my feed without my consent. This is annoying and very irritating. There’s no way to disable it except manually muting each sites which does not seem to work since I muted sites several times and yet I can still get links on my feed. I quit social media for a half a year now to avoid content that I do not want to see. I now only use Quora because of its content. Now Quora is doing this new feature and many users does not want it. My husband’s account does not have this beta feature and I do not understand why I have this annoying feature. I contacted them several times to ask how / what to do (twitter and Quora contact page) but no reply. After muting sites for multiple times, I ended up familiarizing myself with Reddit.
Great tool, but has been started to be less understandable
by playabilityjackson on 2019/05/31 19:33
I love Quora. Great app! Recently, I started to get more notifications than I could review. Maybe it is my poor notifications management... Also, there are these “Communities” or “Groups” (I do not know, how it is called), where similar topics are posted — I barely can use this functionality. I use feed, that’s pretty it. AI adapts to my reading habits, and because I usually read couple answers per day from the feed after a while I read answers only about single topic, because other has been fallen down the feed. I want more diverse topics covered in first few questions brought to me to the top of my feed by the AI.
Healing!

This is a great application. After living / married to a narcissist for 23 year, three children I was discarded and did not know why. I spent countless hours researching the web and really couldn’t find what I was looking for. I came across this application and many of my questions were answered by others that had been in a very emotional abusive relationship with Ns. I didn’t realize I was targeted 23 years ago as a the main supply for my spouse. After reading severally articles, I felt like other people in my position had been watching my relationship with the Narc. unfold and the story of my life was on display. Thanks to Q I can honestly state that I have begun my healing. Thank You!!!!

I never knew anything about narcissism until I started reading everything about narcissistic disorder on here it’s been educating me saving my life as I am married to a narcissistic man and now after 2 years of war battle marriage I finally realized nothing was ever my fault it was his narcissistic illness that I couldn’t figure out what was going on in my marriage😭 I have been forwarding my husband most of the quotes about narcissists that reflects my husbands behaviors I’ve been forwarding it to him hopefully he can read them and relate to them and start getting himself at out of the narcissistic illness is it really possible for my husband to be rescued From this narcissistic illness?
Most obvious bug persists!!
by vabello on 2018/07/09 23:31
Overall, the app isn’t that bad, however there is one bug that has persisted through countless updates and I’m so fed up with it I have to write a review in the hopes to get someone’s attention on the matter. The most basic thing the app should do is open up questions on Quora. I get the regular emails with a link to the question. Sometimes it opens the app and goes right to the question. Other times it just opens the app and goes nowhere. This only happens if the app was already opened. The only way to fix it is to force close the app and then tap the link again to open it and it’ll go to the right question. Please fix this! It’s so annoying and wastes so much of my time trying to jump to questions from your regular email digests.
Can be fun but extremely biased
by ecks deeee on 2018/09/20 16:43
This app can be extremely fun and interesting at times until things get political. I have had several of my answers removed even though they do not have curse words in it, and they are not mean or hateful. They keep up answers if they're saying what they want people to hear but the second someone says anything defending conservatives the answer gets removed for hate speech. I was not saying anything racist, sexist, or being mean. If you see any question having to do with politics the only answers you see are from liberals. I'm assuming all the conservative arguments have been removed because having a different opinion is hateful. They really need to work on it. Don't even bother with this app is you're conservative and you're going to look at anything political. All you'll be able to see is liberal bs.
Great app
by overnight223 on 2019/01/24 21:35
Quora is a great place to ask questions, learn, and teach. There are answers to pretty much any question you can think of and if not, ask yourself. There are two complaints I have. 1. Be more specific with your policy on names during set up. I was banned 2 times for names that did not comply with policies. 2. There are ALOT of trigged people in this app. I asked a question about a game I play and the answer was, no. Thats stupid. Scrolling through some answers I found several other rude and unnecessary comments. The knowledge that can be learned from this app is incredible. A few changes here and there will make it even better
Disappointing
by al e neuman on 2019/06/15 02:35
I initially went on Quora because it appeared they have some interesting questions and "crowd sourced"Answers, so I hope to get an idea of what people out there are thinking about different topics, sometimes controversial. Then rather suddenly, I started hearing a message on my pages that I was not "allowed to post" questions or answers! No explanation or reason given, nor is there any obvious way to contact them to ask. So I have to believe that, like Twitter, Facebook etc., they claim to be neutral sites Politically, but of course aren't. Can only conclude that something I said displeased them politically,Meaning I didn't subscribe to much of the politically correct nonsense that passes for truth on the part of many of today's Leftists--Obviously including Quora management. The irony of "liberals" people obviously running Quora is that while they scream loudly their support for "free speech", In fact today is left have become virtual fascists,Doing everything in their power to suppress the speech of anyone with whom they don't agree. The supplies not just two websites like Twitter &Quora. This is all very disturbing, both for what it means to the free expression of ideas in our democracy, driven largely by the Left's strong desire to have ONLY their ideas heard. Sad and dangerous. Shame on Quora.
Seriously?
by maawolfe36 on 2019/05/30 03:25
Downloaded the app and giving it one star because I can't browse the mobile site due to this app. When I try to view Quora in Safari, I can read a few sentences, then it pops up "Unlock the full Quora experience!" with a link to the app store, and there's no way to close the pop-up. If I can view it on my PC without an app, then why can't I view it on my phone through the site? Maybe I don't want to download the app. And I shouldn't have to! I should be able to dismiss the pop-up, like when I browse reddit from Safari there's a pop-up asking if I want to view it in the app but if I say "No" then it goes away and lets me go back to reading, but there is no possible way to dismiss the Quora app pop-up. And for that this app deserves zero stars, even if it's the best thing ever created, because it doesn't give me a choice.
Politically biased; agenda driven
by granitej3 on 2019/06/13 11:29
If you even ask critical questions of the progressive left you run a good chance of being banned. Quora does not value answers or their quality one bit. They are in the question business and they pay people to write questions. Quora is typical mainstream politically driven progressive. They are pro corporatism, anti- people’s rights, anti gun, Pro politically correct Orwellian thinking, and anti trump. Progressives are an overwhelming majority on quora to the point the whole world is distorted into an unrecognizable Hillary Clinton wet dream. It’s been two years since she lost and they are still fuming about it. There seldom a good answer - the top upvoted answers are all in line with quora ideology. Quora limits views by collapsing questions and answers they disagree with. Moderation is automated so if you write something critical if the horde, they will just keep reporting you until you are gone. If your interests align with big money like the Mormon church, you will enjoy the freedom to solicit your ideas and beliefs unimpeded because companies actually pay quora for censoring critical questions and answers. Sure there are some that stay on there but most don’t ever get views. It’s a sham. Don’t waste your time with a dishonest and deceptive media like this.

I was kinda forced to download this since it doesn’t allow you to read on the website without frequent reminders (blockers) to the website. I downloaded it but only because I had to to read what I was TRYING to read.

by Al Z Heimer on 2019/10/14 21:04
I like notifications but in Quora app only. Getting them stopped in my email is more difficult than it needs to be. If one has the app, why does it continue to send emails. Almost got the emails stopped after several days of trying.
Sick of being forced to the app

Seems I can’t do Quora in some (or all?) browsers as the popup pushing the app is a dead end to the app. Done with Quora altogether. Bye bye
Only View questions they want you to
by vdfnnv on 2019/10/13 15:36
I used to be able to view specific topics. Now, those topics are “locked” and I’m forced to only view the questions they want me to view, which is mostly political questions. I don’t want political questions, I want to view the topics I want to view.

Pretty lame to make people download the app just to read a thread.

Very difficult
by Ron Eng on 2019/10/08 18:02

Entertaining but take it with a grain of salt
by T0pGvn on 2019/10/08 12:03
It is entertaining like the Enquirer tabloid in the States. Many answers though are opinions with no basis on real experience. Lots of propaganda. As long as one realizes it, it is a fun read
Trash
by Eazlyy on 2019/10/08 06:00
You can learn about a lot of stuff from this app but many people are just biased. The people are just toxic. It’s all political heretic. There’s rarely any talk about other stuff than religion and politics.

I’ve been blocked
by guy trying to learn on 2019/10/08 02:06
I’ve been blocked because my profile wasn’t filled out properly (had my last initial instead of my full last name). I filled out my profile with my full first name and last name but can’t figure out how to get ‘unblocked’. It says to go to moderation, fill out a contact form. Can’t find either of those things. Not sure what to do.
STOP BLOCKING MY READ!
by GLH 719 on 2019/10/07 19:42
Every time I try to read through a post, the GD pop up and blocks the screen. I had the app; I dumped it. I still get the posts in my email but this annoying GD pop up only gives me a choice of either use the app or no reading allowed of any posts. Based on this BS, I prefer to dig my heels in and lose the site: there’re others.

To me quora is my therapy, and it’s completely free, no ads or special paid memberships required to use the app to its extent.

by working rich on 2019/10/01 13:34
Great site with tons of topics.

Revised review
by shelbing on 2019/09/28 17:13
(Previously: Just downloaded this app. It won't load at all.) Now it works great. Lots of useful information. The issue I have is their program of paying members to create questions has resulted in a lot of questionable questions. Most could simply be googled.

Stop pushing it in my throat!!!
by Promiceus on 2019/09/26 07:00
I have some 11 screens of apps with folders on my iPhone.

While far from perfect, Quora offers a different range of experiences than most information sharing sites.

by Nonicknamesareavailabl on 2019/09/17 22:53
I keep attempting to use the webpage, because the email alerts that I get for the website open the webpage when I click on it on my phone. About 30 seconds into reading, it comes up with an on skippable pop-up that requires me to download the app. This is not what I want, and you’re going to stop it. Even the possibility of opting out of this would be an improvement, but as it is, it’s spam. Take your one star, you’ve earned it.

Makes no difference where I choose to read or search for info.

by ScipioXII on 2018/02/25 19:10
While they have a fairly good BNBR (be nice be respectful) policy.

Annoying lately
by Chidanandar_m on 2018/06/25 18:02
Quora was one of my favorite apps in my mobile, I deleted recently as it became unbearable to mute or downvote the topics, authors, questions I might like.

Healing!
by Healing! on 2018/08/01 22:49
This is a great application.
Saved my life..
