Great app. The one thing I would like to see is some way to calculate the bpm of an entire playlist without having to load each song individually. I hope you guys can look into this. Thanks.
It’s a sad day if you’re visually impaired
by D. J. Djay Touch M. D. on 2020/10/21 01:53
It’s a sad day for visually impaired people who DJ with this app! The app does not allow you to route the voiceover between headphones or speakers anymore like it was accessible and I was 13. With a news update of iOS 14 this is no longer the case and it is not accessible to people who are visually impaired the way that he used to be! Is very disappointing because I have use this app for many years and I have spent thousands of dollars on different controllers and now it’s send me that I must leave! Sure you can buy one of their controllers and things might work, But if you buy a more professional or expensive controller Sally the voiceover accessibility is not the same and cannot be roots it through just the headphones anymore! The voiceover is heard through the speakers as well as the headphones making the DJ experience for visually impaired people impossible to enjoy with everyone else! Goodbye DJ a Y until this issue was fixed and as I said I have canceled my subscription and if you are visually impaired you should cancel yours to

Music source
by jam miramar on 2020/10/19 00:18
With the loss of Spotify as a music source on DJay Pro, I tried several other sources available to find a suitable replacement. None seem to replace Spotify providing comparable selection and sound quality, with Beatsource and their counterpart being the worst. While they did offer the coveted BPM feature, my playlists mapped using the recommended “tune my music” to many unmatched tracks, some even in a different genre that basically rendered the playlists unusable. I was so disenchanted that I gave serious consideration to dumping the app and just keeping Spotify until I tried Tidal. While very pricy, the premium subscription offers comparable sound quality and even higher quality at a higher price. Track selections also match Spotify premium tracks without the BPM feature, but Djay will add that as I play each track in the app over time. More importantly, the playlists mapped to the same track and artist as before. The down side is that I’m now stuck paying for Spotify where I share playlists with family members in addition to the new Tidal 1-user subscription. I still enjoy using the Djay app, but only time will tell if the extra cost is worth it... 3 stars versus the previous 5 for my trouble and expense is all I can muster for now. Maybe Djay will do a little arm twisting and Tidal will add the BPM feature at some point in the near future to redeem my confidence.

by zoo we amam lamo on 2020/10/17 15:06
ok so i love djay but the automatic tempo recognizer doesn't work most of the time. when i tried to put in an accapella to match it as the same tempo for my instrumental, it put the tempo on 153.6 instead the tempo it should have put which was 80. this is a large problem for me because it's important that everything for my music matches up correctly.
Upgrade is a downgrade
by TILLDADDY on 2020/10/17 14:59
Two years ago I started using the DJ app. It was awesome easy to use loaded all your iTunes music and you can even make personalized inserts to add to the musicHow to push of a button. Two or three upgrades later when you can no longer use half of your iTunes music and the whole program is very hard to navigate and use. before I would gladly pay the $10 a month to keep this program but it is no longer worth it even if it was free.
I love it

Went from Great to Useless
by Proteus 846 on 2020/10/17 09:24
This was a great app. I used it whenever I did any DJ gigs of any kind, always. Now? I can use it for ZERO of those gigs. Why? They removed Spotify support. The entire reason I got Djay 2 in the first place, and moved to this version shortly after its release. I rarely buy mobile apps, but I’ve spent good money on the Djay apps. It was worth it. But now? Now there’s no reason to keep this app around anymore. Nice work, guys. Way to ruin a great product. EDIT: It looks like Spotify support may still exist in the macOS version of this app, but why in the world would I spend that $50 price tag when they could just remove that support there too? Removing a key feature that was prominent in the app’s promotions back then — arguably the best feature of this app — from customers who paid for that feature? Honestly, if that’s not considered criminal it should be. They won’t see another penny from me, ever.

Don’t believe the hype
by Killagolfwang on 2020/10/15 17:17
I signed up for this in early October 2020 because it said it still worked with Spotify, though, and to be fair, they did say Spotify was terminating its cooperation with this app without giving an exact date for when that was going to happen. But when I signed up for the 7-day trial period, Spotify still worked. Since there the developer provided no use-by date on Spotify’s termination of their contract/cooperation/whatever, I downloaded it, played around with it one night then forgot about it and let the 7-day trial period lapse. Which was fine and is totally on me. Today I realized it had been more than seven days, so I went in to try it and suddenly Spotify doesn’t work and I’ve been charged $39.99 for an entire year’s subscription. So, does Spotify still work for people testing this with the 7-day free trial and was I just baited and switched? Or am I just one of those super unfortunate people who happened to test drive this app during the exact timeframe that Spotify was cancelling their relationship with Djay? Beyond that, why was I charged $39.99 for a full year (and yes I’m sure that’s what it says in the fine print that no one anywhere ever bothers to read, but congratulations, that puts you in the same league as the credit card companies and payday lenders) when I could have only been charged for a month that I would’ve happily paid, found out it really wasn’t useful for me and cancelled out with no hard feelings. Downloadable equivalent of the sucker punch.

Beatgrids
by BlameTheDJ on 2020/10/15 03:47
I really want to love this app and while there are a ton of great features that make it superior to its competitors, it fails in one major area, beatgrids. Only having the ability to set a grid mark or adjust the wave is simply not enough control to make proper adjustments. You need the ability to mark the down beat throughout the track. Until then I pass.

TIDAL NOT THE SAME AS SPOTIFY
by sdjaxob on 2020/10/11 10:37
I would give the app 5 stars if they didn’t take off Spotify integration. Will change the review if there is an update that includes TIDAL pre-analyzation with BPM and Key to better match the current track instead of guessing.

This app is good, but it is quit sad without Spotify, I mean, I really don’t want to pay anymore things, but I don’t know what to do now. I really want Spotify back real bad! Please do something about it 😢
So disappointing. Bring back Spotify this is ridiculous
by MacCullagh Corcoran on 2020/10/10 22:31
I am so disappointed and dissatisfied that what ever happened between you and Spotify has not been resolved. You see, you have to work with the consumers here, we don’t have unlimited resources and I choose Spotify to stream my music. When Spotify worked with your app it was so much fun and I truly found so many good songs. I see that iTunes works with your app. Dang it’s like flipping a coin, you get to use some apps if you choose apple and others if you have Spotify. We should not be the ones suffering from whatever reason we can’t use the most popular steaming music service on your app. The only reason I was using your app was to stream Spotify and I will not be returning until Spotify works again with your app.
Can’t believe you took out Spotify!!
by Lester r on 2020/10/10 13:27
The one and only reason I used this App was because it had Spotify. why would you take away the biggest streaming app
Not worth it
by Lindzer4 on 2020/10/10 02:08
This is the worse and thank goodness I only did the 4.99. What a waste of time can’t use any music I actually need and unless I go pro I get music no one even cares about. Very disappointed.
This company cares
by micah 44 on 2020/10/09 22:31
I am seriously impressed with how much this company works to make sure that their apps are usable to voiceover users. There was a labeling issue with the three buttons to the right of the dashboard button. All I had to do was email them, describe the issue, and they’ve all been relabeled. Thank you so much guys. Seriously impressive. This is why these people have won awards for accessibility.
Good app wish it worked with Apple Music
by RoyTheBroker on 2020/10/09 05:08
The app works great. I just wish I could mix my Apple Music tracks. This app doesn’t allow that because those tracks are protected. You have to have purchased or use SoundCloud tracks.
Huge problems!!!
by ROSTETERATINTOTERE on 2020/10/09 02:00
Bring back the previous version please. Ever since the AI update this app is going berserk. Great app. But iCloud not syncing cue points and loops across all my devices.
Unable to use it
by Icaminsk on 2020/10/08 13:05
I was very happy and impressed with this APP really loved it, But unfortunately for some reason I was unable to use it on my IPAD 5 when plugged to a sound system or even Bluetooth. I experienced lag on the wave form and very frequently sound was lagging too, Impossible to use Ive tried to reinstall it, even restored my IPad to try to make it work but no success, so I canceled my subscription on the 6th day :( I wish I could use it
No Spotify
by Jordan Beck 96 on 2020/10/08 07:35
Genuinely loved the app for over 8 years. WAS a 5 star review, WAS. I’d spent hundred if not THOUSANDS of hours on this app. I even moved through the apps as the newer versions came out. However, by discontinuing Spotify, this app has become useless to me. It’s a real shame but I hope they change their minds to run Spotify again in the future.
Tidal promotion
by jennyt512 on 2020/10/08 05:58
I’m upset you guys told us to get a different streaming services months ago so I did and got the tidal 3 months for free trial .. then I realize Spotify is still working well past July 1st! I haven’t touched the app a few days and I see today Spotify doesn’t work. I go to try tidal and now the djay app is saying I can’t play certain songs because of the quality (my music quality settings are on normal recommended). I find out it’s because my 3 month trial is over and I didn’t even get to use tidal on the djay app at all. I continued to use Spotify until it stopped working and I used up my entire 3 months. Feel very frustrated cuz I love your app but idk why you made me get the free trial around 3 months ago when Spotify was still going to work. Looking for a new dj app

Fall of an empire
by Jason Yonkers on 2020/10/08 02:33
djay for iPhone was an immersive app anyone could download for free and experience their music in a new creative way. However with the loss of 3rd party Spotify, this app now demands subscription to another dedicated music application like TIDAL or Beatport.. Unheard of, right? The reality is that far too great of a majority of users that seek a smartphone app opposed to professional mixing equipment are not looking to add yet another charge to their monthly entertainment bill. Djay supporting Spotify enabled them to easily grow the app to where it is now, as most people already have a Spotify account. It’s sad to see numbers drop as users are being forced to convert to an unfamiliar music streaming app, just to continue enjoying Algoriddim’s cutting edge technology.

by Y0nnieC on 2020/10/07 07:03
After the latest update, I was able to listen to harmonies from songs that I’ve never heard from before. One thing that’s bugging me however is I have a song from my photos app that I wanted to use. I loaded it but every time I mess with the neural mix, it just stops the song. That doesn’t happen to other apps such as TRIDAL. But from my media it would stop and somehow glitch my phone to where I disconnect from my AirPods??

While full production isn’t as available as other pad focused apps, this has what you need to keep a party going / turn up in the car before the fest!/ or just keep yourself busy during cardio. Looking forward to what more you guys can bring ! 🙏🏼 thankful this app has brought me as close to my passion as possible.

I really love this app don’t get me wrong, but let me get straight to the point I want to know how can I log out of my Tidal account through the app. In my case, I logged in with one account, but I have a premium membership in the other. But i can’t log out of the old one within the Djay app even when i tried deleting and installing. Is there anyway i can fix this?
What the sh¡t?
by TazaTaye on 2020/10/06 06:35
I used to love the original Djay app 10 years ago. It was perfect, even the last app was great. Now we have to pay to use features MONTHLY OR YEARLY?! I mainly use this app to entertain myself because I have really bad ADHD and it keeps my hands busy, but I can't see myself paying $40 a year for that. At least bring back one of the older apps with older features so I can use all those features that didn't need to be paid for before. Algoriddim just got more and more greedy over the years and their subscription really shows it. $10 would be more than enough for all the features for a ONE TIME FEE. Now I'm gonna have to use my iPhone 4 and keep it offline to keep using the older apps.

Bad Choice to Cut Spotify
by Rob D.P. on 2020/10/05 21:27
Honestly my music home is Spotify, so I'm saying goodbye to DJay now :( Update: Asking customers to switch streaming companies they do business with over what DJay supports contractually is not really winning my business back. There are other apps that still use Spotify integration, they just were willing to sign the new terms.

No longer Links to my Spotify account so I’m downgrading my rating to 4 stars. Other than that, 8 assignable drum pads, ability to loop, minimal filter, a few effects (more if you get the paid version) and of course 2 turntables and a mixer. I highly recommend. Close but too many serious bugs for a DJ app
by ConcisePlains on 2020/10/02 15:10
This would have been the perfect companion to my DDJ400. However there are 2 persistent issue that is killing this app. 1) The DDJ400 board sometimes will lose all connection mid set with the iPad and I have to unplug and plug the board back in to resume the set. This problem is persistent among my friends and on the support forums. Although the DDJ400 has been made for the djay app! 2) Eversince the update of dynamic waveforms, the tracks will lose sync with each other while adjusting the EQ of the track i have on a loop. This happens with and without auto sync turned on. How is this acceptable in a DJ app? And there seems to be no way to turn off the dynamic waveforms!! I want to be able to see when the beat does drop... If these 2 issues are fixed I would be completely sold but i’m now moving over to rekordbox that came with my DDJ400 and so are most of my DJ friends as well. Its a pity really!

I loved this app and every time I listened to a song I liked I would go on here and mess with the controls making it higher and lower pitched. Recently they stopped playing music from Spotify which is why I don’t like this app anymore. BRING BACK SPOTIFY!!!!

Worked great until they got rid is spotify. Now it is horrible. Makes up you pay big time too for a tidal... doing one more DJ job this week and will stop using it after that... if it works. Not impressed. Go back to the way it used to be.

I enjoyed the app when I was able to integrate with Spotify. I would give it a 5 star if I could be able to play with music from my Apple Music.

The visuals are not working.
by GiveGet on 2020/04/10 19:28
I have owned every version of the Djay app. I also own the Vjay app. The previous versions have been great. This new version has been a big disappointment. Too many bugs. The visuals do not work properly, there is a huge pause when trying to pull up my music lists of songs and when playing the loops the visuals pause. My music videos also pause. I own 2 iPad Pro’s and both are having the same issues. It appears this new version is pulling visuals from my previous Djay Pro app on one deck and the other deck will not play visuals at all. The visual issue started with the recent update. The pausing problem has been an issue from the beginning. At this point it is not reliable enough for me to renew my subscription. Update: I remain a huge fan of this app. I continue to use it as my main source when DJing events. The visual bugs have been fixed. I look forward to any and all improvements and continued additions to the app.
Wish for a few things but they are light years ahead of everything else
by tpromix on 2020/01/31 20:51
Thanks to the developer response (finally) I can use this app, although I still wish for a better video view where u could actually ADJUST THE CUE AND CHANGE THE TWMPO / BEND without 2 sub menus... I cared enough to both for the last year for 1 thing maybe in the next year that goodie will come to pass...side note, instead of drag and drop, perhaps could be part of intuitive drop down menu inside video where u pick VISUALIZER;) Thanks again ...continued success I’ve gone from 2 star to 4.3... will b 5 when u gives a tempo view as big as the eq view;) cheers Been waiting for a year now for them to add the most requested feature... We MUST be able to overlay our own videos for songs that don't have a video (like in the former djaypro)... Nobody at the club wants to watch a 5 second loop for 6minutes....I-Don’t recommend for anyone doing video, the now unavailable djay pro was 1000% better, hopefully they will restore previous layout and functionality...lack of dedicated and available pitch bend/control...is another awful decision which shows their desire to be purely a consumer product and not for pro dj’s who can actually mix. After 5 years with Djay, I’m extremely disappointed , Maybe they will listen to the pros that made the app a success in the first place...no developer response to my inquiries for over a year, sad
Bait and switch (updated)
by Nightliker on 2018/12/31 18:27
I previously wrote an angry review with one star for this app. I am seriously annoyed with companies switching to a subscription model instead of supporting apps or desktop applications people have already paid for and expected support for. That said, I am updating my review and rating due to the fact that this update is excellent. It’s the best DJ app on iOS. For 4 stars, I implore Algoriddim GmbH to allow for more comprehensive editorial of the beat grid. Bonus points for allowing the user to create new audio files with truncated versions of tracks. Some songs have sliding, evolving, or distinct tempo sections. “Batdance” by Prince is a great example. There’s basically another song embedded in the middle of that track. As a vinyl DJ I understand that skill can overcome these limitations, but as an Apple customer who just bought a powerful new iPad Pro, I want my machine to use all it’s processor power to make my life easier and to free up my brain goo processor for other creative activities (microphone banter, visuals, dance-offs, etc). For 5 stars, make this app compatible with Audiobus technology (like DJ Pro is/was). I would also suggest, if they are receptive, ask Ableton if “DJ” can read .ALS files so that all the warp marking labor undertaken by users can be interpreted non-destructively (ie: without rendering a new audio file). Keep up the good work.
Love it!...but it could use a few tweaks
by Megamaster135778 on 2019/12/10 16:31
This app is how I listen to music; I barely even use the music app anymore. I like the wide range of effects I can choose from, I like the malleability of the software when it comes to changing tempo and almost everything else. Lastly, I absolutely love how you can see the tempos and keys of songs while you're selecting one in your library and that you can change the pitch or keep it the same, even when you need to tweak the BPM a bit. However, no great app is without its flaws. First off, there has been a recurring bug even since Djay 2 was a thing, where the app would mislabel the artist of quite a few of the songs in the music library. For example, the song "Astrocat" by an artist called PIXL is labeled by the app under a different artist in my library, for example, "Droptek and Tut Tut Child." Second off, I have a question. Djay 2 had a feature where you could record your own samples and make your own sample packs. It doesn't say whether this comes with pro features or not. Is that a pro features thing or was it removed entirely? Again, I love the app, but just a few bugs may need to be fixed.
New connection issues make it almost unusable.
by NolanA512 on 2020/04/22 04:55
As an intermediate DJ, this app does everything I could ask it to do. However, only just a couple days ago, it started being unable to connect to my DDJ-200. I use an iPad as my primary device, and that’s where the problem is. It connects just fine if I use my phone, which I find quite annoying and inconvenient. Bluetooth is Bluetooth so what’s the problem? I’ve tried everything to remedy the issue. Rebooting my iPad several times, deleting the app and reinstalling it, unplugging and plugging back in the DDJ-200, everything, all to no avail. I’ve reached out for help by several methods and have gotten zero response. Algoriddim, please hire an intern or something to manage your Instagram page and to provide responses to questions. Adding insult to injury, I’m a Djay Pro subscriber. Quite inconvenient to have paid for a year subscription only to not even be able to use it how I want. Oh and another thing, I migrated to Tidal (annoyed about that too) and the track list doesn’t provide the key of the track for like half of my set list. Just make your app work 100% how it’s supposed to. Other than that, I have no complaints.
Simply The Best
by Eat Sh-t on 2020/04/09 21:58
I am an old school consumer that had refused to even consider upgrading to the latest & greatest version, and this was due solely to the “subscription” aspect of the transaction. Then our friends at Algoriddim made an offer to us holdovers that was difficult to refuse, and for that I thank you!!! This version is just magnificent!! The UI is so much sleeker, and with everything so readily accessible that it is clearly obvious that these developers listen to the feedback from users... or that they must be users themselves to know just how to improve this DJay APP to the point of near perfection. I am currently not employed so I have not subscribed, but I may seriously have to choose between eating and enjoying my DJing pleasures very soon. Thank you Algoriddim!! Rich
Slightly over-reaching
by CptDanno on 2020/06/15 01:50
It is an undeniably good time spinning records from the bottomless crate of music-streaming services. Makes nearly any DJ mix you could imagine possible. This makes the app perfect for DJing your living room after parties, free-styling a set from Tidal suggestions, or playing DJ Request on the ones and twos. This is a really fun app and a great way for people to dip their toes in the DJing pool before diving into a multi-thousand-dollar investment on CDJs and a Mixer. The audio quality is passable for most parties, but it’s not professional-grade, which is fine. My only real complaint is that the app will crash eventually if I video-DJ over AirPlay to an AppleTV. Takes about 15 - 20 minutes, and I’m guessing this is a memory leak. But whatever, it’s still a good party trick and I still would recommend checking the app out if you’re curious. You probably won’t regret it. It’s really a lot of fun and can help hone in a DJs set of skills, allowing for many opportunities to expo and/or practice wherever. Keep it up, guys; and maybe see about that memory leak?
We asked for more features on Djay Pro, and this is what we get.
by Draqoon9306 on 2018/12/17 15:37
If anyone used the previous generation of the djay series and was in fact following along with the forum, you should be aware that they were willing to add more ideas such as ableton link to djay pro. However, the devs showed up once to support it never since. Well, Now we know why. They weren’t talking on the forum because they knew that they wanted to get more money off features that were requested. It’s important to note that the djay series has been attractive because it was a one-time payment app that beat all other one-time payment djing app. This, however, defeats the trust of the djay series. Even with the 83% off for djay pro users, it’s still outrageous that you pay $9.99 for a year worth of djay, when there are better alternatives at that price range such as the soda. For those of you trying out the djay app for the first time, don’t bother with this one even if it seems very attractive. Get alternatives or the older djay pro. They are only missing a few things and often times they’re cheaper than $9.99 for a one-time payment.
Goodbye DJ a Y until this issue was fixed and as I said I have canceled my subscription and if you are visually impaired you should cancel yours to
What a mess...
by Spacewaitress on 2019/02/22 17:26
I’ve been using DJ Pro for years and love it. Unnecessarily complex doesn’t begin to describe this hot mess of an “update.” I am constantly hitting menu buttons to change views back and forth just to do some basic mixing. In 4 deck view, you cannot control the basic volume of the track and the FX controls at the same time because they are on two completely different pages! ???!!!??? The library (as others have mentioned) is now so small and complex that it’s difficult to find the next song quickly so you can get back to mixing. This is not an update, it’s a downgrade and a waste of money. I paid my $9.99 to try it out. Learn from my mistake, save your money and buy a real DJ program, because this app is not it. And seriously, what is the subscription for and where is the value for the monthly fee? The loops? We have to punch through so many menu options just to get there (and back) that the song will be over before we can even add a basic kick or snare to our mix. What a waste.
Hands down the best DJ app around
by BigDelicious777 on 2020/06/24 17:22
What isn’t there to like about this app? They’ve clearly taken feedback from users into consideration to craft a near-flawless, highly intuitive program that appeals to casual, novice and professional consumers without over complicating things. The one thing that I wish they’d fix is the loop feature. There needs to be a manual selection for splices that fall outside of the 1,2,4,8, and 16-beat selections. That’s been my longtime need with this app. Other than that, it’s almost perfect. Oh yeah - one more thing. The subscription has to go away. Let me buy it outright and go on with my day.
Been pretty good so far
by pumblino on 2020/09/20 15:11
I have been using this program for over 5 years now. It works ok most of the time. Once in awhile it just closes up and i have to relaunch, and start my mixes all over again. Not paying for that. I had the free version that was available then and still use it. I won’t pay to use it on tiny phone and ipad screens as the controls are just not easy on small screens. If they remove the version I currently use, i will definitely uninstall at that point. There’s just simply no feature that would get me to pay a monthly fee. Just a way for these companies to get filthy rich. Look i would maybe consider a one time fee, but subscription to play my own music that ive already paid a fortune for? Will NEVER happen.
COME ON WHAT IS THIS SUBSCRIPTION CRAP!!!
by Mmdeveloper on 2019/11/05 11:06
Update: Well I finally heard back on my first review — 9 months later... Personally that tells me that not only has the product changed to an unreasonable subscription model but the developers don’t even care enough to read the feedback regularly... Probably trying to figure out where they went wrong - no one buying your product? Maybe because it’s a subscription based product. Original Review: One more product I am dumping because the company decided that making money was more important than servicing their products. I have the previous version (which I will no longer upgrade for fear that it will get broken and then lose support) and it is fine. All these companies think that they can charge monthly money for apps and it is just garbage - people are not made of money and don’t want to pay forever for an app... I say either go back to a purchase price or lose more customer... What’s better $40 you get and it is yours, or $60 per year that I’m not giving you and a lot of other people won’t either... Seems like everyone is trying to nickel and dime the consumers with their “in-app purchases” or “subscriptions”... At least with IAP I get to choose whether things are worth it to me - and I can buy them and then THEY ARE MINE... I’m done... Not buying these subscription apps ever again...
My review of this app over the years
by TTYLTT on 2019/02/08 18:52
to the developers of this app, I want to say a big thank you for coming up with one of the best mobile dj apps of all time ( djay 2 ). I have been using djay 2 for years and I came to master all of it before the new version which now comes with the subscription. I will ask that certain issues be addressed with the app. I honestly prefer the older djay 2 over the new one because of how simple and well placed the entire app was made. My only concern over the years was how sound output distorts when you lock the key and increase the tempo of any particular song. It’s very identical to that of virtual dj which is very bad. Serato does this key lock thing so well. I’d be more than happy if the developers found a way to push the best of sound output from this app as much as possible. Thanks
It’s a great app! But the update—
by Tokiladoki on 2019/01/12 17:42
After the recent update, a feature I often used was the ability to change the song’s pitch no matter what speed it was playing at. It’d be nice to have that back. Right now you can only play the song at its original pitch regardless of speed or at the pitch of the set speed....like, I can’t play the song at a higher bpm and have it at a lower pitch than the original, I miss doing jams like that. Actually that was the only reason why I used this app over eDjing for a while. Buts that feature is gone now....hmmm I paid for the premium version hoping the feature would be there but was disappointed to find that it wasn’t. Eh, I don’t really see a reason to use an app that doesn’t have different features from the competition in general.
Subscription: no way!
by Nai-De on 2018/12/15 21:59
Been buying this from since it was first released. Downloaded this one to to enable the review: Will be deleted right away. Subscription pricing is a rip off: people want to get paid in perpetuity for no work. You sell a product I like, I pay for it; you negligently ship it with bugs, you fix them for free. You add significant new features, you make a new major version, and I decide if it’s worth buying, or if what I have satisfies my needs. That’s honest business. I wish upon all companies who do subscription pricing, that others do the same onto them: office chairs that charge each time you sit down, doors that charge each time you open or close then, your bed is on renewal, and if your credit card number changes, and you forget to update them: all you find are spikes when you try to sleep. Your blue couch in the living room is unexpectedly suddenly “upgraded” to a neon orange one, and half your things are suddenly on the floor because it was decided that the “cabinets” feature isn’t used by enough people, and thus was simply removed. Laziness! You want your users to pay you for the product, the fixing of the bugs, the development of changes to the product (that they may not even want or like), and even for the downtime.
Price Factor
by TimBsTechTalk on 2019/06/02 13:15
I’ve always loved Djay, not as as a DJ (which I’m not) but as someone who enjoys the opportunity to learn things on his own without having to hire someone else. I’m also creative so I like to try different things. The push to make subscriptions a normative way to use apps has caused me to eliminate 80% of the apps I use. Why? Money. I’m not rich. I have compared paid models to subscription models and have found the increase in price to be extremely excessive to say the lease. Pricing models are not inevitable; they are invented by business leaders who want make money. I get it. If I used apps for business purposes, I would understand the value of subscriptions but I use them mostly as opportunities to learn new things and have fun. Unfortunately I won’t be learning or having as much fun as I used to. I remember many years ago when you could download Djay for free for the desktop. Even then, I found Djay to be one of a kind. I think the history I have with using apps informs my view of things. I think you are one the best developers out there. I wish you continued success. Unfortunately I will be observing from the sidelines.
Love it but I have a problem with most recent update.
by DJ Shady Shane on 2020/02/16 00:41
I absolutely love DJay. However, the most recent update is causing me a little problem. When selecting a file from my library that is a video file, the app will give a pop-up suggestion to open in the video view EVERY time! This means if I want to stay in a different view I have to close the pop-up every time I chose a video file. Can you make that a one time notification or an option to disable the pop-up in settings, please. Disregard my last....the problem has been corrected. Thank you.
A great blind accessible djay app!!!
by outasite conga on 2019/08/02 03:00
This app is voiceover accessible app on IOS and OS X. It has great keyboard commands to control everything. I am not enjoying it as much as the non-subscription based djay pro 2 because there are so many great features that simple features such as the queue playlist is not that easy to access when using the VoiceOver screen reader available on I devices and Mac. But that being said, I still use it every day and find that it is easy to get carried away throwing on on song after song mixing and cutting up dope beats for hours. Thank you Algoriddim!
I like the direction, but it seems unfinished...
by Gettinittogethet on 2018/12/15 16:18
I've been looking forward to being able to create playlists from multiple sources, so I'm happy about that. I also like the style of the new interface. There are some things missing that make it impossible for me to convert to this app just yet. 1. Automix AI. Fine idea. I desperately need to be able to turn it off though! It ruins the listening experience, starting songs too far into them and ending songs too early. 2. Importing my own music files directly into the DJay app. While I was able to import and okay a file, and save it to a playlist, when I reopened the app later the sing was greyed out and not available to play. 3. In DJay pro I was able to use Automix and the visualizer simultaneously. Now, if I start music in Automix and switch to the visualizer, Automix is cancelled. I'd like to be able to play Automix music with the visualizer playing because 1. I like it, and 2. because it's the only way to keep the screen from going to sleep without having to go into settings and manually turn off the screen sleep timer.
Not worth the upgrade
by BIG BUDA on 2019/07/12 13:40
I have used the DJay apps for many years from Djay 2to Djay Pro. The newest app from Djay is very confusing. The loading of a playlist for a party is more confusing than the previous apps. Also while you have a playlist playing and a friend want you to load a song in the middle of the playlist to play next it does not allow you to do that or I have not found a function for it. Overall it has more features, which is always good but unfortunately now requires you to pay a weekly subscription for it. I think this is very very inconvenient compared to djay Pro where it’s a one time payment for the app. I will now be deleting the newest app from Djay and reverting back to the old djay Pro. Very disappointed
Was a great app before this terrible update.
by 458cjsjd69*69852gbgh on 2019/05/26 17:07
Let me first say, I loved the Djay Pro app before it became this. I had been using Djay Pro, the iPad Version, for years. I paid 9.99 when it first came out, and I fell in love. Fast forward to years later, the Djay Pro app I paid for had been replaced with this free “Djay” app. I updated, only to find that my favorite app had been replaced with this trash, add-filled mess of an app. Plus, I originally paid for Djay, and now all that got me was a trial of their subscription based service. Why Djay, WHY! You ruined a great paid, professional app with a free, but subscription based app that is amateur and bad, with zero regard for the people who willingly paid the 10-30 dollars on the pro version. If they could bring back the old Pro version and leave this app as the free version, that would be fantastic.
Better than the subscription price
by Christian Forbes on 2020/06/29 06:33
I’ve been a Djay user since I got a 10.5 iPad Pro back in 2018. I even paid for djay pro and bought all the effects. This new version, Djay Pro AI is a giant leap forward and within an hour of playing the new version on an iPad mini 5 with the A12 chip, I knew I’d be keeping the subscription and was well impressed with the new technology. I was an all vinyl club DJ back in the 90’s, this new AI app quite literally has addressed a mile long wish list I had 25 years ago. The HD video available on Tidal is another level added to all the super dope features.
Subscription is not the way.
by Techprogamer101 on 2018/12/14 14:15
Although this app looks really really good design wise, I don’t think Subscribing to get all the features we had in djay 2 and djay pro. We should just be able to to pay one simple fee for everything. Not pay monthly. For the people who owned djay 2 and djay pro with all the features we paid for they should transfer over to this app so at least we can get what we all ready had. The fact that we have to subscribe for the features we already paid for in djay 2 and djay pro is stealing from us because we paid only ounce for those features and now we have to pay monthly. I don’t think I’m going to switch use this app for a while. Probably never because I want to have the features I use on a daily without having to pay for them monthly.
So good so easy
by SoundCloud Lifer on 2020/06/20 17:35
The update from djay2 to djay initially was rocky for me as there was a lot going on in a tiny device. This new neural mix changes the game entirely, it’s not even a contest what to use if mobile mixing. Pack a usb deck plug into a power pack, connect to djay and a speaker and boom - it’s party time anywhere you have a data connection. My only feedback is that the subscription does not transfer devices (eg if you have it on your phone you have to sub on your iPad also, this is lame but doesn’t take away from the quality of the app at all).
Needs some work/touching up
by BAG201 on 2018/12/19 04:39
New interface is nice but a lot of tools have changed and offers minimal to no customization. Key example: The loop format doesn’t allow quick loops anymore with Out button. Other things to note, all set cue points from previous app version were discarded after upgrade. Can not scan and analyze all music for BPM rates. Cover art on vinyl is small now & still no Apple Music integration. I know this new format is fairly new but it needs some work. I loved this app in the previous version and hope it reverts back to having some of its original controls. “If it’s not broke don’t try and fix it” . In this current state it’s not worth the price. Hopeful for some updates in the near future.

Hi there , I’m a beginner DJ just started about 3 mouths ago and I’m enjoying DJay pro.. I love the simplicity of the Interface and everything is at your fingertips.. For me the looper and samples are really nice because I can make my own track/beat to use as a transition to a new song.. if I have any complaint about it , at times my looper sounds won’t work. The looper section will pull up but it won’t be available for me to use from time to time.. if I can get some advice about fixing it now we cool? But everything else is a-o-k with me!
Ugh

Missing features AND a subscription? Forget it. While we all appreciate the continued Developement and refinement (There are some good things in the new version) I refuse to acknowledge it for now. The devs really are hungry for that cash huh? My recommendation is price the App at where you want it. Stop with the subs and at least offer the people who have purchased the previous two versions an upgrade price. Or if you want to do a sub try ALSO offering a one time buy or “lifetime sub”. Even professionals who use these apps regularly can’t be bothered with 100 $5 -$50 subs a month. Between Adobe, Avid and a smattering of iOS apps and TV and news subs this App Store world is bleak indeed and or Developers are going to learn what happens when users reach subscription fatigue. For Pete’s sake what a bunch of greedy *.
Automix doesnt work on free version
by Morochos92 on 2018/12/28 06:00
Hi, i recently dowloaded this app, to replace my old version of djay (version 4.2.3). The auto-mix on the older version. was great! The one on this version is terrible, i cant get it to auto-play. Every time i try to start the automix function, it sends me back to the main page asking me to upgrade to pro. I only dowloaded the free version because i really just need the classic and automix functions. i would even pay for the basic version (classic and auto-mix) if it worked But It doesn't make sense for me to sign up for a $4.99 monthly plan when i only use the app to play music during xmas, new years and maybe 1-2 private parties, just for fun. So please tell me what i can do to use djay on my iPad ann iMac. Or Can i get the old version back? Tks

So i used this app for a while when i had a beatpad 2 and mixon 4 for ios and they worked pretty flawless but then i wanted more controller options so switched to cross dj but now with pretty much being able to map any midi controller and how well it works with ddj 200 ive switched back on a free trial of the current djay since i had purchased PRO version way back. Im thinking of keeping subscription its just id like to be able to add fx on the loops/clip section . But other than that this app is great a lil confusing at first but thats because it gives you a lot of options
Epic tool, keep it up 🙌🏼

Like all things , it’s what You make Of it . Plain and simple. This is like a well written book, it has all that you need it’s up to you to decipher it.
Great app to get your feet wet, and beyond!!
by A.J. Drew on 2020/01/18 14:08
Great app for learning fundamentals and grasping different concepts. If you want to learn to Djay this is a great place to start, and gauge your “actual” interest before going out and spending a ton of money on expensive equipment. I recommend getting good at beat matching, and playing around with the production preset tools/samples for a month or two first. If you’re still into it, then look into some of the suggestions they offer for accompanying HW to move to the next level.
Outstanding

Update: This has been the best DJ app during my quarantine times, solo dance parties and online live mixing, new features are amazing as always. _______________________________________________ Been a loyal dJay2 user then upgraded to this version. Initially wasn’t too crazy with new pay system as I already bought the full version of dJay2, but quickly changed my mind after trying it out for a little while. This app is amazing, incredible capabilities and hours upon hours of exploring, experimentations and fun.
I was one of the scammed users of a lifetime DJay license purchase.
by Adriano Leal on 2019/11/30 00:04
I have the original DJay App purchased in my iPad 4 since 2012. Worked perfectly to everything I need and paid for. Lifetime purchase is a scam in this obsolescence you’re forced into. Now, Algoriddim moves to the subscription model and doesn’t make the previous purchased app compatible to the new iOS version, and guess what, launches a similar app for the new iOS which you’re no longer able to upgrade like you always did when a new iOS came forward. While my iPad works, I ain’t buying anything else - and whenever I have to purchase something again, it will not be from Algoriddim. Lack of support to your legacy faithful customers is the worst PR for your brand.
Crash
by VINOCATADOR on 2020/09/14 10:05
I got the 6 month free full working app. Everything works until the last update. Now when I use auto mix ( sometimes we need to go to the bathroom) I live the phone on the table with out touching anything, the phone screen going black to save battery the music stop and take me to the front page with out saving the songs and I need to start all over again. That’s only happens when I don’t touch the phone and go the screen to sleep mode. Before no matter what the music was kept it playing. I can’t be on top of the controller all the time. 🥴🤔🤔
So good! Such a huge improvement from the last.
by Mr.Fabian NYC on 2019/08/22 00:11
Now this is an update! Such wonderful changes that make this an actual working dj app, nothing but good things to say about this latest update. When I downloaded this app like 2 yrs ago I felt so bummed because I had payed for another version that was a waste of money, it was so bad I erased it from my phone. So I went back to Djay 2, but I just re-downloaded this version again and it amazing . Happy happy
SUPER FUN APP
by Nickx275 on 2020/09/05 18:59
I have been using Djay 2 for 3 years and just recently updated to Djay pro. It feels a lot more professional to sync my songs, but sometimes the looping function does not work perfectly. My other complaint is I cannot see the full title name for the song. This prevents me from viewing what it segues into and other important details. I’m thinking to change from using iOS to Mac so I can see the title name for the song. Let me know if there’s a fix for this. Beyond that - thanks Algoriddim for the great application.
Fun and Amazing!
by Y0nnieC on 2020/10/07 07:03
After the latest update, I was able to listen to harmonies from songs that I’ve never heard from before.
Was a loyal supporter....
by censored1 on 2018/12/16 08:37
Will not use this new subscription based app. It’s thievery, bye Felicia✌️👎 DJ Pro just needed the audio and video effects, and sync feature enhanced but you reinvented the wheel and tried to charge a subscription fee?! The new loop feature is trash and you can’t even mix as well on the new app, not to mention it’s buggy as hell. You couldn't make more money on enhancing the product for customers who had already purchased it so you created a new app.....pretty crappy business practice to screw your own customers over. Can’t believe after all this time this is the best app you could come up with. Company is on the back side of the parabola. Do not buy this app, get DJ Pro if you can.
We just want to see the waveforms in video mode
by Blendmaster30 on 2020/09/15 19:11
We just want to be able to see the waveforms like (2 deck mode) on the video page so we don’t have to keep switching back and forth when video mixing that is all. Why does touching the video affect playback this is an accident waiting to happen. In video mode you have controls on top of the video but touching controls also affects video playback. Please fix!
🤢🤮🤑 updated*
by theartofyoga on 2020/07/14 04:45
Updated* Still ain’t worth it for the subscription just go pick up Cross DJ Pro for a one time purchase as it easily rivals this DJay app and has a Abelton Link integration. “I have had the djay apps since 2012. Consider this, the 3 years or so that djay pro has been out it saw no new features added and it cost 20$ and 20$ IAPs for effects. While pro did bring 4 decks, we saw no new effects or useful features. (Where is audio unit integration? Or even just the use of AUV3 effects) Why is that? Either pro was so fully featured that to add anything would be bloat. Or the developers were to busy creating this mess of an app. Many of the issues and bugs of original pro app were left unresolved over years. I’m not sure how the developer really can justify the subscription model to existing customers. All previous owners of the original djay pro should be grandfathered in with an unlimited subscription. Anything less than that is really a disservice to loyal customers. To call this a downgrade is speaking kindly.”
Best DJ App in the market
by Mists Frost on 2020/06/23 09:34
I love DJay. I like to refer to my self as the pocket DJ because I can always pull out my iPhone or iPad and entertain on the fly. I first got it as a back up Incase something went wrong with my computer or mixer. Then I realized I can actually do a whole party with this app. I can practice mixing where ever I am, and it comes in handy when people want you to DJ for free. Why lug around all that equipment when all I need is my iPhone big speaker and split cable.
Love this app
by Fllatin85 on 2019/08/29 04:36
The only down side for me is that if you’re using an effect or if your changing a tracks bpm when having another track cued at a specific starting point the memory won’t be good enough and will release the track a few beats before or after its cue mark. So in order for this not to happen I have to have no effect on and keep the track I’m about to mix in it’s original BPM. Other than that this app does wonders when wanting to DJ for yourself or your friends.
I love DJ Pro!!!!!!!
by DJ Falc. on 2020/06/01 15:30
This is the best DJ software out there in my opinion. It's glitch free, allows you to do all that you need to do and in real time, And best of all it's versatile. I run it on my Ipad which is what I use to DJ and I also have it on my Iphone. Having this saved me hundreds maybe even thousands of dollars in buying expensive DJ equipment. I use blue tooth speakers with my Ipad and I am ready to roll publically or privately. I would recommend Dj pro for veteran as well as novice DJs. Best ever!!!!!
Here we go.
by Matthew Mullins on 2019/03/19 13:11
If I’m not using pacemaker or edjing, this is the one and it’s probably more versatile than both those apps. This one has four cue’able mixing tracks, which makes it. More convenient for mixing live.... because you can set it up and then go get your drink or take a whizz... so thanks for that oh great creator of apps that cost me a fortune but allow me the context of a real experience while being a DJ. Seriously thanks for that.
Subscription? Really? Deserves 5 stars but...
by Kümar on 2019/02/07 01:05
This app is, in all Sincerity, the best DJ app in the app store, Period. As an app. However, along with everyone else that has been using this app for years, to get squeezed by everyone for more money each month instead of buying a product and owning it with regular packs, updates and things to add on or be purchased as we go just seems greedy. It is a fantastic app but I think i’m going to spend my money somewhere where my penny is valuable as a customer; not as a cash cow. I suggest you all do the same.
Rlly?
by Roobug90 on 2019/04/08 02:26
I am putting it as a 1 star because I was expecting something FREE but that is fake... you have to pay for it! Which ticks me off because nobody says that it isn’t free and the app is free.... your just looking for money just make people pay like 2$ and there in for life that would make My life so much better but noooooo you have to make people pay like 5$ just for a stupid dj app that you need a iPad for which is already a few hundred dollars so basically it is more than a mixing table to actually save money... so your bad at thinking about how much money people have and your thinking that everyone had enough money to supply your life... (not employees).

Maybe Djay will do a little arm twisting and Tidal will add the BPM feature at some point in the near future to redeem my confidence.

ok so i love djay but the automatic tempo recognizer doesn't work most of the time. when i tried to put in an accapella to match it as the same tempo for my instrumental, it put the tempo on 153.6 instead the tempo it should have put which was 80. this is a large problem for me because it's important that everything for my music matches up correctly.

Until then I pass.

by sdjaxob on 2020/10/11 10:37

Goodbye DJ a Y until this issue was fixed and as I said I have canceled my subscription and if you are visually impaired you should cancel yours to
What a mess...
by Spacewaitress on 2019/02/22 17:26
I’ve been using DJ Pro for years and love it.

Ugh
by 0r3 on 2019/10/29 02:34
Missing features AND a subscription?
Tks
Almost 5 stars
by Leecifer827 on 2019/07/14 07:59
So i used this app for a while when i had a beatpad 2 and mixon 4 for ios and they worked pretty flawless but then i wanted more controller options so switched to cross dj but now with pretty much being able to map any midi controller and how well it works with ddj 200 ive switched back on a free trial of the current djay since i had purchased PRO version way back. Im thinking of keeping subscription its just id like to be able to add fx on the loops/clip section . But other than that this app is great a lil confusing at first but thats because it gives you a lot of options
Epic tool, keep it up 🙌🏼
by Mcali7 on 2020/10/06 19:11
Like all things , it’s what You make Of it . Plain and simple. This is like a well written book, it has all that you need it’s up to you to decipher it.
Outstanding
by Bigbootybuns on 2020/08/06 15:23
Update: This has been the best DJ app during my quarantine times, solo dance parties and online live mixing, new features are amazing as always.
Crash
by VINOCATADOR on 2020/09/14 10:05
I got the 6 month free full working app.
Happy happy
