Frustrating issue that needs to be fixed
by Jennie the Jesus-lover on 2019/07/09 17:26
Still unable to playback what I recorded. I can’t hear ANYTHING and am very confused I got the volume turned up I got the loop on I got all the gains on everything is on. I miss using that reverse delay effect that I purchased in the app I want to use it again so bad but I can’t because of this weird problem 😭oh can you Please fix what’s going on here? Try uninstalling reinstalling thing doesn’t appear to work
Don’t buy this, buy BiasFX instead
by GadgetMojo on 2019/06/29 04:35
This app is misleading and really is completely useless. The reason is that there’s BiasFX from the same company which covers everything that JamUp Pro does and gives you much more. No limit on the number of pedals (7) stereo output and more routing options. Sound quality is better in BiasFX. In-app purchases don’t transfer to BiasFX, and you have to buy them all again. Bottom line is both apps give the best tone quality you can get from iPad, and from PC actually (although I haven’t tested everything on pc, I did on iOS). If you know exactly the difference between these two apps and are certain you will not need BiasFX, then go ahead get JamUp Pro, you will not be disappointed with it’s tone. If you get BiasFX after that expect to pay for all the same effects second time. I bought this app because I saw some people on YouTube talking about it like it’s two different competing apps. It’s the same company and the same code under the hood. Good thing I realized this quickly before buying a bunch of in-app purchases in JamUp. They should have just added those couple of features that are exclusive to JamUp (slowdown music player, and multi-tracks recorder) to BiasFX so we wouldn’t need to pay double for all of those in-app’s. So if you don’t use a DAW and definitely sure you don’t want BiasFX, then get JamUp. Everyone else should definitely get BiasFX and Bias Amp. I bought almost all of the in-app’s in these two and totally recommend both. One thing that sets Positive Grid apart from everything else I’ve tried is it sounds analog vs digital. The worst sounding tweaks I’ve done in Bias Amp still sound analog. In other words entire tweakable range.
Cool app but bad support response
by Somedude901 on 2019/04/25 12:32
I like the app and effects. I've bought a few effects add-ons. I also bought a Griffin Stompbox pedal to use with it and it's weird trying to understand some aspect of how the switching works between the Stompbox and JamUp effects. I've emailed them twice last year about it and never got a response or acknowledgement. So good luck if you can't figure something out and need help and can't find other users with the same problem in their forum.

Jam Module not in stereo
by ericrudd on 2018/11/05 22:04
I like the app. I just wish that tracks loaded from my iOS iTunes played back in stereo and not in mono while using the Jam module.
Great app but....
by dsdfggj on 2018/07/25 01:27
First of all I love this app I use this along with bias amp witch is also amazing effects sound great and the metal amp pack is awesome too. My only problem with this app is I have a red notification in the top of my phone almost daily and sometimes twice daily asking me to restore perches I mean it’s really a minor inconvenience but it’s getting annoying. This is the only reason this app gets 4 stars for me.
iPhone X update
by KoRn III on 2018/07/12 04:57
Love the app. But how about fitting it to the iPhone X screen?
Sounds pretty decent
by K_to_the_Bee on 2018/06/06 08:48
Sound is pretty decent for what it is. Playback of songs to play along with sound like they are playing in a tin can though.
Best practice tool ever
by uHM283638 on 2018/05/05 17:25
I use JamUp almost every day. It is an essential tool, and has vastly improved my playing
Been using it for a few years now
by Cryo!! on 2018/04/23 20:51
This app really helped me with my sound for recording, now I can just pick an amp and lay tracks! I do wish however now that you have xdrummer that it could have a dedicated “strip” on the 8 track recorder. Along with Bias Amp and Bias FX I have all the amps I need to get trackin!!
Not Working???
by mach660 on 2018/04/05 02:44
I have the app plugged into the iRig and everything and there is absolutely no sound coming out. I've scanned through every setting and can't seem to find the problem. Guitar and iRig works fine with other apps, wish I understood how other people are getting it fine???
Really fun!
by Ethogibs on 2018/02/10 17:27
Pretty fun stuff! Sounds really good out of the box and sounds even better with more tweaking! I’d be careful if you have active pickups...sometimes it’s too hot for the app and you get a really loud screeching feedback sound. But overall really neat! I use an irig2 into my iPhone SE. I do recommend getting the bias app with this too. That will REALLY make it sound better. I use it for recording and just playing late at night without disturbing anyone!
Holy cow!!!
by sonicbrewtality72 on 2018/01/23 16:09
Blown away by the free app. Not sure I could handle the pro app. I don’t think there is a more accurate representation of a plexi on any of these type of apps! Great job!! The tone is pretty amazing even through my cheap headphones!
The Best so many options

Best app for practicing
by joe310ce on 2017/08/31 18:54
I use this app daily to play along with YouTube tutorials and also to record samples to send to friends. I love all the amp models and effects.
The in the in-app-purchases = JamUp Pro + in-app-purchases...
by Bank of America_Knoxville on 2017/07/10 08:57
So...Could you guys NOT ask customers to pay for the same app (BIAS) twice? If I had known, I would have bought it on my iPad instead of my iPhone, but that's maybe something to ask in a BIAS review. JamUp is okay, but you will get nickel and dime'd by every company making these guitar amp applications for iOS devices. Positive Grid Inc. just happens to be the one that -- in my experience over the years -- is less expensive, (but still not cheap), considerably more stable and JamUp will not crash on you like IKMedia's over-priced bloatware, and doesn't destroy your device's battery life, memory, or multitasking abilities. That last part is key as these apps almost always need you to go pay $10 for Audiobus (have fun w/ that experience if you haven't been ripped off by Audiobus yet, but it happens to all of us so you aren't alone). Audiobus and BIAS are similar in some ways in that they act as a sort of "staging menu" for how you can and want to direct the more experienced DAW musicians who run various apps at once while also monitoring their live jamming or recording sessions. Audiobus 3 is actually starting to work better now that it's been out a few weeks, but it was a catastrophe upon its release. Anyway, JamUp is fine. That's all I can really say. It doesn't crash. I'm not happy they have a JamUp Pro version that is literally the same thing but costs $5 up front for the word "Pro" -- usually I would be able to download the Pro version for no charge now that I've paid for everything you can in the ordinary JamUp in-app store...but at the end of the day, I don't expect these companies to think about these things, and complaining about something like a $5 charge is a bit unfair on my end -- I suppose. Whatever you do, make sure you READ BEFORE EVERY PURCHASE OF ANY iOS APP WHETHER OR NOT THE PURCHASE WILL GIVE YOU THE ABILITY TO USE IT ON ANY iOS DEVICE YOU OWN, OR ONLY ONE, WHERE A SECONDARY PURCHASE FOR THE SAME APP ON YOUR OTHER DEVICE IS REQUIRED. You don't want to find out too late that you gave money to a company that structure's their business model this way. Lesson learned I guess.
Impressive
by artieshaw on 2017/06/26 18:11
The latest update solved my launch issue. Limited variety of amp tones in this free version (understandably) but you certainly get a good idea of what the full app is capable of. I love the Jam feature. Perfectly usable for practice as is, but the pro version beckons! Thumbs up.
Great tones!
by Finn Zevo on 2017/06/19 03:20
This is the best guitar amp app I have used!Awesome for shredding guitar players.
Lint in jack
by xXselkiesXx on 2017/06/05 04:47
Be aware that lint in your headphone jack will cause issues with Jamup plug! I thought my issue was software related when in fact I had a ton of lint keeping the jamup plug from fully seating. Headphones would work fine. Cleaned my jack out and now it works great! App works better than it did several years ago, probably in part due to hardware improvement.

crushes at start iOS 7
by UserNah on 2017/03/25 18:21
Not supported iOS version, I know. But it worked fine up until the last update. The loop buttons in jam mode are very close to share and setings button, I often tap them instead. You have to convert every recording in 8 track in order to see them in iTunes. Anyway the app is great, or was.
Love it. But . . .
by Shyboy4045 on 2017/03/21 02:32
Had this app for my iPhone 5s and it worked beautifully. Had no issues. I had purchased four of the amps and the effects that I wanted. I also bought the upgrade to the 8-track. I used that and the sampler a lot. I upgraded to the new iPhone 7 and Apple did away with the headphone jack. The adapter Apple has short-circuited my iRig adapter and now it doesn't work. Because of Apple, the app is just sitting on my new phone not being used unless I want to spend $120 for "their" adapter.
Awesome Interface
by jrains5 on 2017/01/12 14:42
Please add a shimmer reverb effect. That is all. Great app!
D.L.'s Studio
by PimpSlickBack on 2017/01/03 07:45
I would rate this 4 stars the app only comes with one amp. If you buy bias you can transport all those amps into here and that's what I did. Look at all the effects and ask yourself if your going to use them. I am not I would only ever use the boost, noise gate, delay and the reverb. And those are free so I would stick with this free amp and just buy bias. There's enough amps in bias to get enough endless tones.
Good but
by Jacktrumanhighway on 2016/12/01 12:24
Every time I try to paste an audio file on to the sampler the app crashes but other than that it's really good

GREAT APP BUT CRASHES
by MOKANA_STUDIOS on 2016/09/06 08:41
UPDATE: 9/5/2016 This is starting to get frustrating. In the 8 track. I recorded a piece. Plays back fine. I save it. I come back the next time, load it, try and play it, it tries. Snaps. Pops. Crackles and then the sound goes silent. I turned off latency and it tries to okay it, the Snaps, crackles, pops, then goes silent. I switch back and forth between on and off latency and same results every single time. I am running the iPhone 6S. I BOUGHT FIVE DIFFERENT FOOT PEDALS JUST LAST NIGHT. NOW I AM FEELING AM GETTING THE CRAPPY WND OF THE DEAL. UPDATE: App crashes in the sampler after you save something, then load, then hit play. Crashes every single time. Also, the copy song seems really buggy. You copy it to the clip board and then it pastes four files when you go and paste like in Message, but the files are not m4a MP3 or any playable file. When you go to send the file via email, it is a m4a playable file. It would be nice to have the capability to have a simple message capability. Most people don't hook up their phones to their Mac every day. Getting access to the file so that it can be sent immediately via message would be sweet. Right now it is a pain. App crashes when you try to play from the Sampler when you are connected via Bluetooth to a speaker system. Also when you buy a pack it does not show up. I had to do a digital restore several times before any purchases showed up. Also, the selection for Speaker Headphones does not have and impact on anything. Have no idea what that does. The app crashes in a few other instances and will post when I track those down. I have a Martin mini I carry around with me. I plug that into this app via my iPhone and then pipe that into my trucks stereo system. It is pretty sweet. I like the app a lot except for the issues mentioned above.
Exporting
by Kasalof on 2016/09/01 21:42
I want to export my song that i've recorded in jam up to telegram or other apps but its impossible! I had to email it to myself first then export it to telegram! Please make a exporting option at next update.... Thanks for great app
Almost Perfect
by Sithdragon on 2016/06/19 18:43

Better than amplitube
by drz 54 on 2016/06/01 01:22
Tried to get amplitube to import from my iTunes on my iPhone . Could not do it. JamUp worked so fast I could not believe how easy it was. Sounds good too.
Goodbye Amplitube
by Truvor on 2016/05/29 17:18
I bought IK Multimedia's Amplitube as soon as I got my iPhone and iPad. I used those for a number of months. At first it was great. Then I realized that you have to buy a ton of additional patches to simply get a decent clean tone. At some point I saw an ad for Jam Up on Facebook and downloaded the free app, then I started buying patches. I haven't used Amplitube since. When I do use Amplitube it only the desktop version on my MacBook. The lack of clean tones and different iPhone and iPad versions killed Amplitube for me!
Great app but...
by DerpHerpGuy on 2016/05/01 22:11
The delay effects are very buggy. They're not working properly.
Not happy!
by Americanbasschick on 2016/04/11 21:03
I downloaded the free app and then purchased the bass expansion pack. From the beginning it had problems with distorted sound and low volume levels. Then after apple issued an iOS 9 update to my iPad Air 2, the app stopped working. I contacted Positive Grid and they tried to help me, but still have not been able to get it working again. Apple issued a patch(9.3.1) to fix some problems that were causing apps to stop working and the app did start working again, however despite backing up my plug-ins, they were missing and I can't get them back. I can't even buy them a second time because the app store won't let me and neither will the Positive Grid website. In the meantime they have my money and I have an app that doesn't work.
Get This One!
by ZenLizard on 2016/03/15 06:35
Now that the digital dust has settled, and I've shelled out lots of $$$ on all the iOS amp/effect apps available, I have narrowed it down to JamUp, Bias, and Bias FX. I don't use any of the others any more and have deleted them from my iPad. It has everything I need, sounds great, and works flawlessly. Get Pro if you have Auria!
Stability improvements needed
by Tennekiticus on 2016/03/10 15:14
Constantly crashing and showing errors in audiobus. This app is great with tons of features but not stable enough for anything performance oriented... Fix this so we can play live without worry
Current version is bugged
by Gene B on 2016/02/14 19:52
Just after updating Bias and Jamup Pro there is this strange problem that only affects my main preset. When I switch to it (in Jamup) the volume oscillates, going up and down randomly while the volume indicator shows 100% volume. Then it becomes silent and stops working. Really screwed up.
No 50% off
by Bob123456789101112131415161 on 2016/01/28 00:27
It said that expansion packs had 50%, yet the acoustic expansion pack is 10$

Pretty great
by 8895390439 on 2015/11/27 19:32
I mainly use the app when everyone is sleeping and I want to play, using my pedals. I connect my pedals to the i rig; like if i rig were my amp, and then my guitar to the pedal board. I really enjoy it, however you will notice some effects won't work the same with Irig and your amp, especially if using a tube amp like me (SP comp AC plus, soul food - these pedals are better for tube driven amps). I have only jam up pro pack, for better amps. I should of gotten the bias FX app, but I don't really care. This is just a practice tool. The effects are okay. I don't really use them since I have a pedal board. It has a lot of options, that I how to get more into, if I ever have the time, and can't use my amp. (Late at night stuff) ps: make sure you have quality head phones
Just get it. Its amazing.
by Pangoat on 2015/11/08 01:25
This app is amazing. I've been using it with a prosonus itwo and everything is just a breeze to setup and it sounds bloody brilliant. Amazing amp sim. Coupled with BIAS you can pretty much make any kind of guitar sound you can think of
Unbelievable tones..From an app on a phone?
by Guitarist4Plow on 2015/10/03 05:02
I am amazed with the whole package here. I drive a truck long distance, and before now, resources for tone and ways to practice shredding guitar was very very limited. With Jamup Pro XT , not only can I keep my chops up, but create with unlimited possibilities and with tone from the bunk of my truck equivalent to my mesa 4x12 cabs and rack preamps at home. My drummer records grooves and loads them to itunes from 2,000 miles away, I then import them from itunes to the 8 track in my truck on my phone, lay down rhythm tracks, overdub screaming solos, and export them to itunes. Holy s#|t how freakin awesome is that? I recently tackled a cover song, The Hunter by Dokken as George Lynch has always been a favorite. I used the Marshall JCM800 amp model, tape Echoplex, boss chorus, eq, and tube driver, and achieved a tone so close people can't tell it's not George's studio tone. Amazing Amazing tool in the form of an app. Thank you guys for making music an important part of therapy for my soul again.. Guitarist for PLOW ..

3.6.9 doesn't support griffin stompbox
by Saquib666 on 2015/06/23 12:07
Jamup is a very easy-access application. Recommended for all guitar/bass players and tone lovers out there. But recently, with this new version 3.6.9, jamup can't recognize griffin stompbox. Please release an update for jamup, which will support griffin stompbox. Despite this i'd rate full star for this outstanding real multi-effects guitar and bass processor. Thanks.

Thank you guys. I have tried all available apps in AppStore and this one hits the spot like no other.
Pretty darn good!
by WillieM96 on 2015/05/24 18:48
I've been playing guitar for about a year and had no idea what differences in pedals and amps were. For relatively little money, I've been using this app to figure out which setups I like. I don't have a terribly sophisticated ear but I can't tell the difference between the effects in this app and the real thing. The pros say they can hear a difference, so I believe them but I fell this app is far better than a cheap, lousy amp.
Sounds great but let me disable the mic

Defenantly worth it
by John Connell 1379 on 2015/02/28 17:42
I have tried a number of things (guitar rig, peavey revalver) and honestly I like jam up the best. The graphics are great, the setup is amazing comprehensible compared to other programs, and you don't have to have a great audio interface to make good sound. Definantly worth every dollar, in fact very under priced. Mostly for rock and metal. No bugs
Great tool

Fun and good sound
by Laarz on 2015/01/05 04:53
I updated on the I recent sale. Good packs - signature metal, good gain/distortion amps and great clean amps. For all around the best pack. And it makes sense to design for the app rather than copy manufactured amps. Boutique I didn't like at first but then realized these amps respond to picking attack much like a real amp, like no other packs I tried. Very subtle and very cool. Metal pack is pretty good, especially the orange, good dark sound. On the basic pack the twin is great and the AC ok, others there are not as inspiring. The acoustic pack is cool to get a good acoustic sound into a recording without the issues of mixing and using acoustic pickups. The classic pack was the least appealing, sims of old low end amps that just don't sound as good as others. But the boss sustainer pedal included is nice. Now stop with the nag window!
Finally a real shot at changing the game
by KvnBcn on 2015/01/02 05:02
Thanks guys! If you haven't tried it yet, you honestly don't know what you're missing. Even if you have another amp model app, you'll hear and see the difference immediately.

by GtrGeorgeDC on 2014/12/01 03:30
I tried only one other app for guitar processing (StompBox), and it worked so poorly I gave up on the idea of using the iPad for this; the latency was so extreme I couldn't imagine using it for live performance. Then I tried the free version of JamUp and couldn't believe it... it worked beautifully, and on an original iPad Mini! JamUp has an ultra low latency switch in the settings, but to my ear, it isn't necessary; it keeps up with my playing just fine at the normal setting. All the effects and amp simulations I have tried are excellent, and have plenty of variability. After working with the free version (which starts you out with two amp simulators, a 4-band EQ, an overdrive, chorus, and digital delay and echoplex) for awhile and deciding it would be usable, I bought the JamUp Pro upgrade, which has a nice assortment of amp simulations including the Fender Twin, Fender Tweed, something that looks like a Vox AC30, a couple of Marshalls, and a Mesa Boogie. The Pro package also includes a really good selection of effects, including a Fender '63 spring Reverb, a couple of overdrive pedals, tremolo, flange, phaser, Cry Baby, and an Octaver. All of this for $4.99!!! I was especially interested in using JamUp with acoustic classical guitar, so I also got the Acoustic Expansion Pack, which also sounds very good and has enough variability for you to get your acoustic sound just right. You can string together up to 7 effects in a chain, and they can be put in any order you want. Tweaking the settings is very intuitive, and you can save your combinations into presets. I understand they're going to release a Bluetooth pedal board for it, so you can switch presets just like a hardware FX board. If you're seriously interested in using the iPad for guitar processing, I would not hesitate to recommend JamUp. Try out the free version; I think you'll be impressed. Then you'll want to start adding to it, so check out the expansion packs; they bundle together sets of amp simulators and effects, and are considerably less expensive than getting each of the effects separately.
Unbelievable!

I haven't used a whole ton of modeling software or processors, but everything I have used absolutely pales in comparison to JamUp Pro XT. If you're a guitar player of any style and you don't have this yet, you have no idea what you're missing. The more I use it, the more ways I find that I can benefit from it. I originally got it just thinking it would be a great practice tool, but it is SO much more than that. I can't believe how realistic most of these amps "feel" when I play them. Plus, having access to more gear than I could ever afford in real life is a great way to getout of this creative rut that I've been in. I know AxeFx or Kemper are the way to go for this kind of thing on a pro level, but I don't have thousands of dollars laying around right now for me to go that way. This is worth every penny I've spent at the very least.
Life changing
by Nameless citrus on 2014/11/22 03:40
You mean I have all the effects I could never afford, and a mini recording studio!?! And I can send musical ideas to friends?!? So grateful for this app and its makers. I want to play out live with it now.
Awesome
by Craigj213 on 2014/10/30 19:12
I bought the all access in app-purchase and have not once thought twice. You get EVERYTHING with that for $50. I get better tones from this than my guitar amp which costs more. You can download presets made by other people or even famous artists. I mostly use the Misha Mansoor bulb lead. If you don't know who that is he is the guitarist of the band Periphery and he's doing work for the halo soundtrack. Overall this app is great. I used it with the jamup plug but have upgraded to the irig hd.

I love the jam feature. It would be even better if I could pan my guitar to one side and the track to the other.
Great tones... Limited midi control
by The NC Heat on 2014/10/17 09:50
I will say that the tones and effect options available within this app are second to none. The only thing keeping me from going full on with it in a live environment is the limited midi control capability. You can turn effects and amps on and off and change presets easily, but the only controls that can be changed while engaged are volume and Wah/whammy. If there was more flexible midi control of effect parameters, and the ability to allow delay and reverb tails to continue after effects are turned off, then I would replace my live rig for bar gigs completely and just use this app. As it stands, this is fun for home use, but the limited control makes it fall short of its potential.
Doesn't work on iPod touch 4

Awesome (when it works)
by Often Knot on 2014/10/11 16:55
Used to be an incredible app but audiobus and various other bugs have made it useless for me. I've spent QUITE a bit of $$$ on in app purchases so it goes without saying that I'm pretty perturbed with the devs.
I liked it, update has bugs
by Zawsome2_ on 2014/10/06 05:34
I used this app all the time. It has excellent sound quality and sound emulation. However, the recent update crashes on startup, even after a device reboot. This is on an iPod Touch 4g running iOs 6.1.6, so newer models probably won't have this issue. However, a fix wpuld be very useful. Thank you!

Decent tones, ranks as one of the better apps
by Dahlst9794 on 2014/09/26 16:39
So far, one of the better guitar amp apps out of the bunch. The overdriven tones are decent sounding, but still difficult to get that biting real world crunch. But still, I have not found any apps to take the place of my hard wired gear, especially my DIGITECH RP UNIT. Most of these apps lack the bite when it comes to overdriven tones. If app developers would come up with something that sounded like the Digitech RP series units, it would be ground breaking.
Please fix it

JamUp
by Band video on 2014/09/25 22:27
Absolutely the best out there! At 64 I've owned many of the amps and pedals that are in this app. The amps do exactly what they're supposed to do and with stunning clarity. And the pedals as well. No more carrying tons of equipment. I Stepped up to the modern era and yet I'm able to reach back to the sweet sound of the past. No more back ache. That in itself allows me to play longer. When a friend of mine tried to show me this technology, I was resistant. As I sat in my studio surrounded by a ton of gear, I started using the Jamup app. It didn't take me Long to start getting rid of the gear I realized I no Longer needed. Great great app. The best!

Awesome app for a lot of uses
by AStarlitNathan on 2014/09/25 04:46
I'd be so lost without this app (especially combined with Bias) It helps ease the load while demoing songs on my computer from using desktop plug-ins, works great for everything from death metal to blues and funk and integrates well for re-amping and integrating with external cab impulses. Not to mention it's great having a good sounding, very portable (and quiet) rig while on the go.
Best Guitar MultiEffects Processor app ever
by DjentyBassist on 2014/09/25 03:31
I use this app daily in my guitar playing and recording endeavors. It beats podfarm without a doubt, and the price crushes the Axe fx despite the lack of a dedicated unit. I think you should get Bias also if you want to experience all the power of Positive Grid's technology. I highly recommend this to every guitarist on earth!
Great

My go to amp & FX sim
by Ncwrath on 2014/09/19 16:20
This app is great, it even beats the computer version of amplitube in my opinion (best of all the bundles are only like $10 a piece) and if you pair it with BIAS app it gets even better (I think it comes with a shaved down version of it now but I'm not sure). Like I said this is all just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt. (UPDATE) as of September 19 this app is still incompatible with iOS 8 and it crashes on start up so if you're on 8 wait till it's updated.
Wow... Just... WOW!
by bdotson1 on 2014/09/18 17:53
Awesomeness! Here's a quick story for ya: My initial use of Jamup came when I decided to give it a try via a trial by fire. I loaded it up on my iPhone 4s last week and headed up the road 45 minutes to the very first rehearsal with a Rush tribute band I'm helping put together. The other guys are stellar players including a Berklee School of Music guy so these are no slouches either on playing or on tone. I felt confident enough in Jammup to go into a 4 hour first rehearsal with nothing but my guitar and my iPhone... and it absolutely delivered. I mean think about it: I walked into a totally unknown situation - I had no idea what the PA was - yet I was able to dial in my Jamup tones via a good set of head phones the day before and was confident enough in the app to be able to walk in and plug up into this guys system and it sounded outstanding with the PA's EQ set flat! The core amp tone, the effects - completely stellar. I am waiting on IK's Blueboard to come out as it would be nice to have some Bluetooth channel switching and control on the floor but I was able to do 4 hours of Rush even preset switching by tap in Jammup (missed a few beats here in there but it was clearly acceptable as the other guys had their heads down, i mean these are Rush tunes we're talking about!) So, all that just to say Jamup has freed me from a 45lb pedalboard with confidence! b. PS - The Rush thing was Saturday - on Sunday I walked into church and led and hour set of worship, no soundcheck, just plugged into the system and went for it... same results. Absolutely outstanding! I look forward to the stereo turn of events - and model a Whammy pedal while your at it please!!!
I still cant belive it!!

Outstanding and Unmatched
by TravelinBri on 2014/07/09 22:02
It's rare that an app designer makes me WANT to give them more of my money. Positive Grid, as a company, just gets it. All of their apps offer outstanding value. JamUp Pro XT offers an excellent and diverse array of spot-on amp sims and effects. On the infrequent occasions I've needed it, I found their customer service to be very responsive. By contrast, before discovering JamUp, I used AmpliTube. The other app is pretty good too (though JamUp is better), but IK Multimedia's propensity for nickel and diming its customers (silly things like charging twice for the same app if you want it on your iPad and iPod Touch) forced me to look more closely at JamUp. I'm so glad I switched. If you're a guitar player who owns an iPad, and you don't own JamUp, you're seriously missing out on something very cool.
Working again!

Hope they fix, so far poor customer support
by John-3:16 on 2014/07/06 13:55
Bias amps ported to jamup do not currently work. I advised positive grind and they related the following. The statements made by them bellow DO NOT fix the issue. ------- statement by customer support--------- Everything is currently working as it should. Not all amps are available in Bias, but JamUp XT is currently working on all of my iOS devices. Please try a fresh install and restore your purchases and see if that helps! Support @ Positive Grid --------end statement----- The issue is there as others state in other reviews. For me ANY amp ported from bias to jamup makes jamup stop all output sound. I also got this reply. ------statement by customer support------- Also, we are aware of the EQ block in Bias preventing sound in JamUp. Bypass and all will be well. Support @ Positive Grid -------end statement------ Saying an issue does not exist doesn't stop it from happening. It's to bad too, I honestly love jamup and bias, but it's unusable for me now, as it is and they seem to refuse to admit the problem needs fixing. To bad. So until a proper fix which makes this useable I will have to lower my rating to a one. I have about every in app purchase available also. A great alternative is the new "Tonestack" guitar amp app by Yonac. I highly suggest getting that or Ampkit instead for now. Old review follows.... This is perhaps one of my top guitar amp apps. The tone is great. I guess in the last update it no longer works with Bias. I use Bias amps and no longer can. There is no sound with any Bias amp now. It's been long enough to fix the problem so... Here is the deal. I will update my rating when this is fixed. I have about every in app purchase also.
Tired of waiting for a fix
by Swampgrass Music on 2014/07/01 21:24
I spent over 50 dollars on programs and IAP's from PG only to have Jamup glitch out using Bias. I contacted the developer only to be told they will fix it when they can and to not use Bias in Jamup. I see too many others having the same problem. I called Apple and got a refund. Let me know when the program comes back on line otherwise I am using something else.

Try uninstalling reinstalling thing doesn’t appear to work
Really fun!
by Ethogibs on 2018/02/10 17:27
Pretty fun stuff!
Holy cow!!!

Great app
by 157audio on 2012/11/21 14:01
Great app, the free version has limited models and effects, whcih sound great, but you can purchase others through in app. Be aware that any Ian's you purchase in this version do not transfer to the pro version, but buying the essentials pack on this version is exactly the same functionality as having jamup pro xt. So if you. Started, as I did, with the free version and. Have added model packs (I have the bass amps), then rather than buying jamup pro xt, you want to do it through iap on this version. The bass amps are very cool and this has been an extremely useful tool for practicing, learning songs on gigs, and warming up. I bought the pro version yesterday on sale, which is how I found out about the iap transfer issue (it is the way the App Store works, not an issue on the part of any developer), and the guitar amps and effects that come with the essentials pack also sound great. The developer helped me remedy the issue very quickly, which he did not have to do, but stick with one version and buy in app in the one version and you'll be fine. Highly recommended, and if you a re a guitarist, you'll want the pro version anyway as the models sound great and give you a good variety of effects and tones, so go for that one to begin with, especially as it is hugely discounted at the moment.

This is the best and most versatile guitar app out there
by Vlpl on 2012/10/26 23:16
I have tried most of the guitar amp simulation apps, but they were all a bit muddy for my taste, the best out of the bunch was amplitube. Then I downloaded jam up and boy was I impressed. Finally some good tones with an impressive air feel to the sound ( I bought most of the expansion packs) what a treat. The only other close competitor is the slash amplitube, but all and all the jam up app is the best hands down. Kudos to these guys and it looks like with updates ever so often they are striving to GET IT RIGHT. Soon in the future I'll ditch my amp and opt for the iOS. Oh one thing please get an update for the OD distortion pedal since it defaults to a white screen without the pedal fine tuning screen. And can you make the green box sovtek electro harmonix Big Muff. The tone sharing on the web is fantastic an easy way to load up your presets. Update Thanks for the OD patch, all is well now.
Impressive!

The effects sound the most realistic of the similar apps I've tried, and I find iShred is the only one second to this. I love the fact that the phrase sampler is included in the free version, I've used it already, and can already tell I'm going to get a lot of use out of it. This app works great with my Apogee Jam, and I'm looking forward to purchasing a couple of the pedals, although I only gave this four stars due to the fact that the amp models are $3 to $5 apiece. One could rack up a lot of $$ in cumulative investment in this. That being said, I don't think $9 is too much for the pro version of this app, and when I can, I plan to upgrade to it. I just hope it gives me a lot more pedals and amp models to work with. EDIT: I bought the effect expansion pack, but I must say I'm a bit disappointed in the reverse delay pedal. I was expecting it to do more than it actually does in the way of backward effects. There are still some usable effects in the pack, though, like the compressor/limiter and the other delay pedals. The octaver pedal works better if you don't plug into the iPad through an external pedal such as a Crybaby Wah, like I have. Better than iShred's 'Octavinator' pedal, so props for that. Because of the reasons I just mentioned, I won't deduct a star from the rating, and I'm still hoping to get some good effect pedals that are not in the bundle I just bought, as well as the amp models when I upgrade to XT Pro.

Bass player? Buy this now.
by Andaloudog on 2013/06/04 12:54
I bought this on the basis of the reviews alone, because Bass options for iOS are that bad. Anything had to be better. This is not only better, it's great. I knew from the first minute with the GK RB-800 that this was worth the good reviews and every dollar spent. The Bass pack gives you four nice amp choices, I'd record with any one of them. Strong basic tone, responsive tone controls, great sound. I just threw in light reverb and EQ, and it was so good I had to shut it down and get back to work. I haven't even tried the recorder yet, already I'm sold. I'm in my fortieth year of professional playing, and finding tools like this remind me why I started (there was the part about girls, but I already found a bunch of them). To the devs, great work. To the Bass players, stop reading and hit Install. You're welcome.

Pretty great

What an incredible app! Through my Mackie Studio monitors the sounds are indistinguishable from the real deal in every instance of the equipment I have. I didn't believe it at first either, until I recorded some chords and licks in Logic and compared. Quite amazing! Get the Boutique pack before the general expansion pack...the sounds are more diverse and therefore more versatile. Skip on the app's recorder and instead use Garageband and record through the Audio Recorder Instrument in lieu Apple's guitar modeling amps....you then have the ability to better be able to edit tracks natively and not pollute the amps and effects within this awesome sounding app. Works great with Audiobus. Can't wait for Jack support coming soon.
Excellent App
by jsfarrah on 2013/11/20 06:34
Perhaps the best guitar app in the effect and amp category. Amazing options (you really have to get some of the add-on content but I think it's worth it, especially when they run deals on the expansion packs), and you can arrange your effects in any order you can think of. I use the Apogee Jam converter with an iPhone and I can't believe what this can do. There is an eight-track recorder as add-on purchase, but I use the Multitrack DAW, and there is a loop and overdub too that I don't use (I use Looper HD). This is pro guitar setup and it does the job for recording music, songwriting, live gigs, jamming, and just messin around. I use it for voice and synth effects too!
Awesome Amp Simulating App!
by HumVDoctor on 2013/03/08 10:06
I use JamUp Pro with my MBox Mini 3 plugged into a powered USB hub that is plugged into my iPad 4 via Apple's CCK. It sounds Awesome. I plug my powered monitors into the MBox out jacks at home for great sound and at church I connect the MBox out jacks to the PA system. It sounds perfect. The people that are complaining about not enough volume and unwanted distortion must be using a guitar interface that plugs into the headphone jack, like the iRig. It sounded bad on mine too using the iRig but with the MBox it sounds GREAT. This is my first ever app review but with the few complaints on the sound quality I just had to let them know, it's not the app, it's the interface they are using.
Extremely Impressive
by Travis.89 on 2013/08/31 02:54
This app is the best thing you can use other than maybe sitting down with the actual pedals and amps. I would use this over an Axe Fx, because there are more diverse models and the signal path system is as realistic as the Axe Fx is or (arguably)better. The thing only I'd change about Jamup is it having cabinet simulation, the reason I say that is then you could then use Jamup at whatever gig you want and have more control over your sound. I'd recommend this to anyone who doesn't have an amp or does, due to the seamless way this could be used for recording or running into a PA.
JamUp
by Band video on 2014/09/25 22:27
Absolutely the best out there! The best!
Not happy!
by Americanbasschick on 2016/04/11 21:03
I downloaded the free app and then purchased the bass expansion pack.
Best Sounding Guitar App Out There
by Betty blue 1 on 2012/11/06 05:10
Whenever I'm practicing at home plugged into my headphones, this app is the only piece of equipment I need. Sounds better than any other amp modeling I've come across with most life like tube sounds. Jamming along with your favorite songs is easy, although a little delay between pushing play and the song starting would help give a person time to get settled in and ready to play. I only wish they would put the add-ons on sale more often. The price can add up very quick. That would be my only complaint.
Wish I'd found this first!
by dermorgan on 2013/09/18 18:54
Sadly I discovered this app after I bought Ampkit. Not that Ampkit is bad, but Jamup not only sounds better to my ears, but has a much better interface, better practice tools, a full-featured trainer module, phrase sampler AND easy multi-track recording! There is no contest - like others have said, this isn't just a novelty, but a powerful and useful set of tools for any guitarist regardless of ability. I never get my amps out at home anymore, and I'm seriously considering storing my rig and using this exclusively. Outstanding app.
Replaced my whole rig
by Zombie Thirteen on 2012/07/05 15:50
I tried out a similar product at NAMM 2012 and liked the idea of using an iPad, when I came across this, it changed everything! After a few hours of playing through JamUp, I decided I was going to use it as my main recording, writing and live device. So far, I have received excellent compliments at live shows, about recordings and about the overall idea of using JamUp! I'm glad I found this awesome app! Highly recommended for casual musicians to professional musicians looking for another great piece of gear.
Love it. But . . .
by Shyboy4045 on 2017/03/21 02:32
Had this app for my iPhone 5s and it worked beautifully.
This is the one
by disappointed5150 on 2012/08/19 02:42
I have every modeling amp currently available, if I could only have one, this would be it. The tone and touch of this amp are incredible, so much so that I now use my IPad as a preamp. I run my guitar through this app via an Appogee Jam, then use the earphone jack through a 1/4 inch adapter to my real hand wired 5F1 champ. I have many guitars and since I discovered this set Up I can't stop play,I been playing for over 50 years, but it's been long time since I played till my fingers were raw.
3½ maybe 4 stars. decent, but expect less and be happy.
by transcendentalaccidentalism on 2014/02/08 06:04
A LOT of juice to unlock the whole works. At least $100 (but after having used Amplitube3 desktop with every amp effect etc ... You don't want that). What you use in the non-virtual world is most likely what you'll use here. Get those upgrades and you'll dig it. Great for puddling around with headphones at night, or sending to your mixer into your computer's DAW. There's drawbacks - it's been mentioned that it's all deconstructive and lossy, but I'm not assuming to be using this for 5.1 mixes to Final Cut Pro X in 5.1
Awesome
by Craigj213 on 2014/10/30 19:12
I bought the all access in app-purchase and have not once thought twice.
Best IOS amp modeler
by Sean/Sinestro on 2013/05/26 21:29
I originally picked up Ampkit for my first modeler and enjoyed the sounds quite a bit, but didn't enjoy the interface at all. JamUp came next. This app is so much fun! I've grabbed quite a few new amp models and pedals from the store. I love the sampler feature. It's extremely handy when working with my students. I use this everyday when I teach. It has become my go to app. I don't use Ampkit at all anymore. This has also been a blast in the studio!
Great App.
by BobbyBart on 2012/12/31 14:50
I don't usually write reviews but couldn't help myself on this one. After trying to get past Amplitubes noise issues and dumping money into the extra Amp packs never to be satisfied with anything more than just a practice app, I finally stumbled upon JamUp. This is by far the best guitar app I have used. I finally have an app I can actually incorporate into my pedalboard via my iRig Stomp. The included noise gate virtually eliminated all the noise without affecting my tone. Highly recommend.
Great App for bass.
by Winkles09 on 2012/12/10 14:05
Had it for 2 days. I'm getting no hiss no distortion. I like to experiment with multiple effects and I still had great sound even layering bass tracks on the recorder/ loop effect. It only took me a few tweaks with the levels and found with bass -set the level of the main amp effect page in the top right at 25 to 35 % and had no issues. It is working very well and I am using the guitar connect cable available at target . Great job Thanks Again
Amazing!
by Depth! on 2013/10/23 15:35
I use this app with an Alesis iODock, and then into a Roland keyboard amp or headphones. I'm using a music man jp6. I'm stunned! The sound, the feel, touch response dynamics, it's all there. One could easily perform with this since the iOdock is midi ready, any midi foot pedal could change patches. But for portable practice (and i mean anywhere- i only need 1 plug) with good tones, this is great. The tuner is great, the jam function is great, this is really geared toward practice. Thanks for a great app and I'd love to see a Mesa mark series model soon.
Wow !!!
by Derek Buddemeyer on 2011/11/30 01:04
This is a very "feature-filled" lite app. The best sounding amps and effects simulator on the app store. Both the virtual amps and effects mimic their physical counterparts flawlessly! I'd swear I was playing through the real thing. Loop feature is flawless. Well worth the money...a breath of fresh air...especially after dumping tons of money on other overpriced wannabee's that just don't deliver. This thing really packs a punch...and the pro version is just a dream come true! Thanks guys...job well done!
Great app
by Tblair2112 on 2012/06/17 17:46
This is by far the most realistic sounding amp app out there. Customer service is great too. I bought the pro version after using the lite version, but nothing I bought in the lite showed in the pro version. Customer service said they are two separate apps, but everything in the pro version once you buy it will show in the lite version if you upgrade... Which was a relief! Good customer service and nice people.
Great app
by m overstreet on 2012/12/08 21:30
Overall great app....I use it with the apogee interface...works great...IMPROVEMENTS: I would like to see individual volume adjustments for metronome, song player and guitar input...I haven't been able to adjust volumes for a proper mix....maybe I just don't know how to do it...oh, and please allow better fine tuning of the speed adjustment. Real hard to start slow, then build up speed gradually for practice purposes...can't make fine adjustments...maybe press on the speed control for a larger dial?
Forget about the other 2.. this is the one EVERY BASS PLAYER NEEDS
by Str8UpJack on 2013/09/10 03:28
JamUp is the best option, especially if you are a bassist. Two Bass bundles are available which more than doubles the bass specific gear of the closest competitor. Set up is more suitable to live use also. Constant updates and the company has actively sought input from users on forums and their Facebook page and then gave us many of the items we actually asked for.
Great app!
by Jazzykitty77: on 2012/11/02 04:27
This app has so many great features, even in the free version, that make it an excellent app for bassists and guitarists. In addition to the stomp boxes, there is a loop station which includes overdubbing. You can change the speed and pitch of the songs from your I-Tunes collection, and even loop sections of the music to practice with. Overall, JamUp is definitely worth adding to your collection of apps if you plan to use your iPad for serious practice.
Excellent!
by Chcocat13 on 2012/08/01 01:53
I have been using another app for recording my guitar and bass into my DAW. I read about JamUp and noticed that a Univibe pedal was offered (that sold it for me). I installed JamUp lite and within an hour upgraded to pro, bought two bundles, some effects and amps. The JamUp pro gives you endless sonic capabilities. It's easy to operate and very intuitive. The preset banks and downloadable presets are a great feature. Totally awesome sound for live performances. Yes, you should buy this App!

Sounds pretty decent
by K_to_the_Bee on 2018/06/06 08:48
Sound is pretty decent for what it is. Playback of songs to play along with sound like they are playing in a tin can though.
Best practice tool ever

Been using it for a few years now

Impressive

The latest update solved my launch issue. Limited variety of amp tones in this free version (understandably) but you certainly get a good idea of what the full app is capable of. I love the Jam feature. Perfectly usable for practice as is, but the pro version beckons! Thumbs up.
Great tones!

App works better than it did several years ago, probably in part due to hardware improvement.

by UserNah on 2017/03/25 18:21
Not supported iOS version, I know.

Please add a shimmer reverb effect. That is all. Great app!
D.L.'s Studio
by PimpSlickBack on 2017/01/03 07:45
I would rate this 4 stars the app only comes with one amp. If you buy bias you can transport all those amps into here and that's what I did. Look at all the effects and ask yourself if your going to use them. I am not I would only ever use the boost, noise gate, delay and the reverb. And those are free so I would stick with this free amp and just buy bias. There's enough amps in bias to get enough endless tones.
Good but

Thanks.

No bugs

Unbelievable!
by EternalRomance777 on 2014/11/23 20:21
I haven't used a whole ton of modeling software or processors, but everything I have used absolutely pales in comparison to JamUp Pro XT.

JamUp

The best!

Wow... Just... WOW!

After update 3.6.0 the app is functioning normally again! Thanks Positive Grid!
Fix this

App works and sounds great but as soon as I bring a bias amp into the mix I lose all input. Please update soon.
Please FIX (bad update)
by Steven4411 on 2014/06/28 15:06
Every time I load a custom amp from BIAS over to JamUp, I loose sound completely and JamUp fails to play any sound at all unless I restart the app, please fix ASAP I have spent money to make this my main recording tool and now I'm at a stand still. Giving one star till this issue is fixed.
Frustrating issue that needs to be fixed

Still unable to playback what I recorded. I can’t hear ANYTHING and am very confused I got the volume turned up I got the loop on I got all the gains on everything is on. I miss using that reverse delay effect that I purchased in the app I want to use it again so bad but I can’t because of this weird problem 😭oh can you Please fix what’s going on here? Try uninstalling reinstalling thing doesn’t appear to work
Really fun!
by Ethogibs on 2018/02/10 17:27
Pretty fun stuff!
Holy cow!!!
by sonicbrewtality72 on 2018/01/23 16:09
Blown away by the free app. Not sure I could handle the pro app. I don’t think there is a more accurate representation of a plexi on any of these type of apps! Great job!! The tone is pretty amazing even through my cheap headphones!
The Best so many options

Sounds pretty decent
by K_to_the_Bee on 2018/06/06 08:48
Sound is pretty decent for what it is. Playback of songs to play along with sound like they are playing in a tin can though.

Great app
by 157audio on 2012/11/21 14:01
Great app, the free version has limited models and effects, whcih sound great, but you can purchase others through in app.

Impressive!
by Sonic Bodhi on 2012/12/02 22:56
The effects sound the most realistic of the similar apps I've tried, and I find iShred is the only one second to this.
Unbelievable!
by EternalRomance777 on 2014/11/23 20:21
I haven't used a whole ton of modeling software or processors, but everything I have used absolutely pales in comparison to JamUp Pro XT.
This makes playing fun again
by bfayii on 2013/05/06 09:42
What an incredible app!
The best!
Not happy!
by Americanbasschick on 2016/04/11 21:03
I downloaded the free app and then purchased the bass expansion pack.
Great app

Overall great app....I use it with the apogee interface...works great...IMPROVEMENTS: I would like to see individual volume adjustments for metronome, song player and guitar input...I haven't been able to adjust volumes for a proper mix....maybe I just don't know how to do it...oh, and please allow better fine tuning of the speed adjustment. Real hard to start slow, then build up speed gradually for practice purposes...can't make fine adjustments...maybe press on the speed control for a larger dial?
Forget about the other 2.. this is the one EVERY BASS PLAYER NEEDS

Great app!

Excellent!
