Description
"decibel x" is one of very few noise meter apps on the market that has highly reliable, pre-calibrated measurements and supports dBA, dBC. It turns your iOS device into a professional sound level meter, precisely measures the sound pressure level (SPL) all around you. This extremely useful and beautiful tool will not only be a great tool for many uses but also bring you a lot of fun. Have you wondered how quiet is your room or how loud is a rock concert or sport event? "decibel x" will help you answer all of those. WHAT MAKE IT GREAT AND STAND OUT FROM OTHER APPS: - Trusted accuracy: the app is tested and pre calibrated for all Apple devices. The precision is matching with real SPL devices - Apple Watch support: see noise level right from your wrist - Frequency weighting filters: ITU-R 468, A, B, C, Z - Powerful, smart history data management: + Recording data can be saved into a list of history records for future access and analysis + Each record can be exported as hi-res PNG graph or CSV text via sharing services + iCloud support which synchronize all history records across your Apple devices + Fullscreen mode to give overview the whole history of an record - Dosimeter with NIOSH, OSHA standards - FFT and BAR graphs to display real time FFT. Those are very useful for frequency analysis and musical tests. Real time predominant frequency is also displayed. - WAVE graph with 2 display modes: Rolling & Buffer - InstaDecibel to capture your dB report overlaid on photos and easily shared via popular social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Messages, etc.). - Support both Portrait and Landscape layouts - Beautiful, intuitive and carefully crafted UI design - Optimized for iOS 11 OTHER GREAT FEATURES: - Standard time weightings (Response Time): SLOW (500 milliseconds) and FAST (200 milliseconds) - Trimming calibration from -15 dB to 15 dB - Standard measurement range from 30 dBA up to 130 dBA - HISTO graph for plotted history of the recorded values - Real time scale level chart - Display Current, Average/Leq, and Max values with both nice and clear digital and analog layouts - Quick reference text to help you compare with real-life examples - "Keep Device Stay Awake" option for long duration recording - Reset and clear current recording at any time - Tap on Max value to reset at any time - Pause/Resume the tool at any time NOTES: - Please do not expect a quiet room reading will be 0 dBA. The range 30-130 dBA is the standard usable range and an average quiet room will be about 30 dBA. - Although all devices are pre-calibrated, custom calibration is suggested for serious purposes requiring higher precision and accuracy. You will need a real external device or calibrated sound meter as a reference, then adjust the trimming calibration until the reading matches with the reference. Awesome tool to have at your decibel disposal!
Great App
by Chicken*hit on 2019/12/14 04:50
I’ve used NIOSH SLM’s and this app is as good as they get. You can be reasonably certain that only a dedicated laboratory grade instrument will surpass the practicality and accuracy of this app. Ten stars.

Version 8.0.2 update will not work on iOS 9.3 ...
by acellier on 2019/12/13 01:48
2019 (earlier) Version 8.0.2 update will not work on iOS 9.3 ... Otherwise this has been a nice app. Strangely, v8.0.1 DID update on the iPad2 and the iPodTouch 5g both with iOS 9.3.5. But the latest v8.0.2 does not. At least, the 8.0.1 brought the proper A weighting to these older devices ... YES!!! UPDATE - 12/12/2019 - I had meant to post 5 stars for v8.1.1 which once again works on iOS 9.3.5 - then today came v8.1.2 and again not for our older devices, so 4 stars now.
THIS IS NOT AN APP IT IS AN ADVERT

this is not an app it is an ad for an app you install later
Very annoying ads
by Syhxclh on 2019/12/12 05:13
I use this app to check the decibel level of white noise in my baby's room. As I'm checking the level, ads keep popping up and I have to click them away to see the decibel level. That was irritating enough, but now the app has labels all over the decibel meter screen that block the actual readings. What the f!? This app is barely functional now, looking for another.

Excellent but to rent??

Fascinating and excellent device, and I would pay to buy it, but i refuse to rent an app.
Subscription?
by Barney Johnson on 2019/12/09 16:47
Unsubscribe from this in your app settings or at least check if you are still subscribed if you didn’t know you were. When you purchase the app it’s a subscription that continues that you may not know about. Why does a decibel meter app have a subscription? So they can make money. I wish they were more up front about that and that the subscription info was at the top of the description and not buried at the bottom.

Free for 3 days then $3.99
by cbtri3 on 2019/12/01 15:56
It’s not a free app with in app purchases. You have to sign up and cancel with 3 days for it to be free. If you forget to cancel you will be charged 3.99. I didn’t use the app, it was deleted when the terms were displayed.

Excelent app
Biggest Ripoff Ever
by Rpb Dog on 2019/11/29 23:00
Sure it works but it’s only worth $3.99 and the publisher wants you to pay that amount month after month. It took me a couple of months to realize I was being charged each month. I finally killed it and want a refund. This publisher is asking was to much for this app. You can buy a standalone dB meter for what these people are asking. Buyer beware!
Difficult to use
by L. Nonni on 2019/11/28 00:23
Interruptions during recording have to be loses inorder to continue recording which only 3 minutes can be saved.

Don’t download
by lance9877655556 on 2019/11/24 01:07
The app runs off of a subscription model. You get three days free and then it’s $4 a month. They make it a hassle to cancel the subscription. Additionally, they say that the subscription has to be cancelled within 24 hours of the end of the trial period, so you really get a 2 day free trial. I don’t recommend even downloading the app unless you’re completely prepared to pay the $4 a month.
Premium Upgrade
by ange16 on 2019/11/19 22:57
I’d give this a 5 star, except my premium subscription can only be applied to ONE device, NOT per Apple account. Email requests for clarification have gone unanswered(?), so...no support either. In spite of that, love the app; upgrade works only with my iPhone, not my iPad.

dB Meter
by Rooster#1 on 2019/11/03 17:35
This app found its way on my phone 4 years ago and although it wasn’t the best performing app at the time, I didn’t replace it. It worked adequately for my needs. Today November 2019, the dB Meter is quite improved and I can recommend it to all who have a need for such a device. Basically, a dB phone meter is at the mercy of it’s ability to interact with the mic on the phone. IMO, the makers of this app have sorted this issue. I’m on an iPhone 8 currently.
Not for me
by dave3984456 on 2019/11/03 03:51
Download for free and must purchase 3 day trial up front. Should ask me AFTER trial is up, not now immediately after I download it. Deceptive at best.

Noisy Compressor
by new compressor man on 2019/10/29 21:55
I purchased a new screw air compressor that promised very low noise level 62db amongst other things. When questioned about the noise, THEY became quiet. I then measured the dB. It was 82.4. Now they are on the hook. Nothing proof.

Nice to see both - a graph WITH A NUMBER
by HowRead on 2019/10/28 14:19
When you turn phone on its side you see both a graph of the sound and the average decibel as a number on the screen together! Seems logically helpful.

by Nhudson325 on 2019/10/23 21:47

Requiring purchase the second the app starts is underhanded
by iamhootis on 2019/10/23 16:16
In-app purchase means the second you are in the app, you must purchase! I despise developers that won’t just sell the app in the first place. There is no world where this app is worth a subscription plan!

App tries to trick you into a subscription.
by Noah42 on 2019/10/17 01:40
Really? Who would pay a monthly subscription for a trivial app like this?
Just a 3 day trial
by jeehe on 2019/10/16 02:58
No mention that it’s just a three day trial until you’ve already downloaded it. It’s actually 3.99 a month. Be up front about charging for your products.

Aggressive ads and purchases
by MountainCat23 on 2019/10/13 15:16
So aggressive with ads, links, and attempts to make you buy a trial that I can’t even figure out if the app is good enough to buy the upgrade. Why not just follow normal and ethical freemium approach which respects the end user. This is not a smart way for the developer to make money. I would have been happy to pay if it was useful, but the approach turned me off.
Not Actually Free
by Eddie Thurmon on 2019/10/10 22:02
You have to pay a subscription which is even worse than just having you pay for the app.
Caution Advised

Garbage, manipulated you into upgrading
by ajdunn83 on 2019/10/10 18:08
As part of the set up screen, the app had a series of welcome screens with a big blue button in the bottom “next” “next” the last one is subtly a “free trial” button. They are intentionally trying to trick people who haven’t even used the app to pay them monthly.

App rotation on iPhone 11pro max
by 3140sandrock on 2019/09/28 22:32
I notice that on the new iPhone 11pro max the app does not rotate as it did on my previous iPhone 6! When I use the ap the iPhone mike is facing my chest which I feel muffles the sound hitting the mike. I would like to see the app be rotatable so I can have the iPhone mike facing into clear space while having the app right side up. It would be so nice if you could make that change? Regards, Ian

Downloaded this to check the decibel of the music my neighbor was playing outdoors. It was vibrating inside my house, i could hear it in every room of my house even with all the windows closed. Neighbors complained to the police, even after the police made them turn it down it still registers between 42-47.
Essential audio metering app

From loud to soft music, but especially...WARNINGS to wear protection, be it a basketball game (just attended & needed protection) or a rock concert or perhaps classical music. I have not explored the entire application, as it was initially used to evaluate some decent speakers (one was in need of repair). I should have used it at the “arena ”, as ears are still ringing! (Bad from a doc’s point of view.) Thanks for a good +++++ app that we just need to use more!!! Thanks!

A Rip Off Continuing in Progress

What a novel idea ... set a modest subscription price which starts after a couple days, then provide no evident way to cancel from within the app. Brilliant. Click on Email Support — now why should that have to work, if refunds aren’t going to be issued? App itself is good, but try to cancel...feels like being in a Venus Fly Trap.

I really like what this app is trying to do and the presentation of data. That said, the problem is I cannot keep it open for more than a few seconds on my iPhone XR before it vaporizes. It closes without so much as a “fare-thee-well” or an error message. I would actually buy the pro version if the app were stable.
Really Nice; How About This.
by MSLeach on 2017/12/09 15:06
This is a great tool for audio enthusiast and semi pro apps.. very useful. How about this developer... what if you had a filter for the audio enthusiast that instead of showing air plane, riveter, streets noise, etc, it showed whispering, quiet conversation, normal conversation, public speaking, quiet church music, typical church music, loud church music, Jazz, Orchestra, Country Music Concert, Rap Music, Rock Concert. Each of these have associated typical levels such as... 60~67 Quiet Conversation 67~70 Normal Conversation 70~72 Public Speaking 82~92 Quiet Church Music 92~95 Typical Church Music 95~102 Loud Church Music 115~125 Rock Concert Etc... you get the idea These are all subject to I individual styles and preferences but the ideas is to get close, some type of base line for people who really have no idea what they’re doing but they knobs anyway (and you know who you are). This is very common in church music and small clubs where speakers mics are either so soft people lose interest or so loud it’s annoying. Or when the band is so soft it ruins the mood or so loud it’s dangerous to your ears. Many churches have no idea what is appropriate sound levels or what is borderline dangerous. I think this might be very helpful.
Very Good, With One Quibble...
by treynolds57 on 2017/11/30 20:24
I’ve used a couple sound meter apps over the last few years along with a commercial quality sound level meter. I would put this up there with the best of what I’ve used. This review is for the purchased, “pro” version of the software. That I can pay $4.99 and use the processing capabilities of my iPhone in leu of spending $150+ on a professional, stand-alone meter blows my mind. The level of detail shown in the various portions of the screen offer a broad range of information to the user. You get both numerical and graph output as well as dial analog output of minimum and maximum readings, duration, etc. One quibble is that when I pause the meter and reset it, it asks if I really want to, which is okay, but immediately restarts the sound reading, even if I don’t want it to. Also, I’d like for a reset to take the meter back to “0”. It restarts at the prior average. I would like to see these twin issues corrected, and I’d then give the app 5 stars.
Misleading app name, free version measures dBZ only
by AcousticsProf on 2018/12/04 06:49
The app name is dB, dBA Noise Meter but what the developer doesn't tell us is that the app only reads Z-weighted decibels (dBZ) and not A-weighted decibels (dBA) in the free version. All the guidelines and standards say to measure noise levels in dB(A) as A-weighted decibels correspond to human hearing. So it's really misleading to the public who don't know any better. dB(Z) levels are typically 10 decibels or more higher than dB(A) so people are always getting the wrong readings, unless they purchase the A-weighted portion. No explanation is provided, it's truly a disservice to people who think they're getting a good reading of their noise environment. Remember, a 3 dB increase in level means double the energy that reaches the ear, so 10 dB at the ear is a huge difference. Developer should make this information available to the public. They benefit from their top ranking on the app store but forget they are spreading misinformation by not explaining to the public the difference between dBZ and dBA. I will gladly pay $10 for an app that provides readout in A-weighted decibels.
DB meter for pro use
by Tzer on 2018/02/23 11:52
I am a full-time professional audio engineer. I have run sound for a virtual who’s who in rock ‘n’ roll R&B, blues, funk, Motown, bluegrass, and for the most part country. I am currently working for a band that are Sony recording artist. The decibel meter does exactly what it should and does it well. I have paid many times this price for DB meters in the past that We’re just as accurate but nowhere near as convenient. This one is always at arms length when I need it … i’ve been using it for a year or so and I am submitting this review just to let you guys know how convenient, easy and accurate this app is to use. My mission and you might want to follow
by RealAdvisor on 2019/03/25 19:17
Years ago I lost my high tones from being in the music business, competitive shooting and hunting without ear protection, whch at the time was something not known to me. My daughter and wife finally got exasperated with my asking “Huh, what did you say?” So they had me go to an audiologist who determined I did have significant hearing loss of the high tones, literally crashing off the chart. Having compensated for 19 years, it was time for hearing aids. For $6,000, great improvement shown. I’m due for new aids, another $6K. So, for the past 10 years I have spoken with some 50-60 young folks who blast music in their vehicles. I put the DecibleX app on my iPhone and demonstrate that they are ranging from the 90s to over 120 decibels. They were unaware of the damage they were causing to themselves and in some instances their children. Everyone has been nice and thankful that I’ve brought this to their attention and saved them their hearing and some $$$. Let’s pass it on!!!
Outstanding App!
by Tickntime on 2019/06/09 12:38
I use this to monitor our church services during praise and worship. It has been very helpful in determining hot spots in our sanctuary as well as tune or room with correct speaker arrangement. This them allowed us to eliminate or greatly reduce the hot spots in our sanctuary. A more consistent sound level prevents the desire to just pump music at a higher level. Higher decibels doesn't improve sound it just makes the problem worse. I would suggest this app for anyone needing a highly accurate decibel meter.
dB Meter
by Rooster#1 on 2019/11/03 17:35
This app found its way on my phone 4 years ago and although it wasn’t the best performing app at the time, I didn’t replace it.
New version works on XS MAX
by Capt. Gizmo on 2018/10/12 14:51
Developer responded to notify me that the new version works on the XS MAX. Glad to say it does. Unfortunately, the one time I needed it in months and months, was before it was fixed. Oh well, it’s a great utility though and nicely laid out. I can’t stand the ad header though. Holding back Pro features is fine, but I detest “ad removal” ransom on any app. This is mainly because it’s a distraction from the UX and, hopeful, thoughtful design that developers have poured into their apps...only to have them butchered by some ugly banner flying over part of their work.
Good Idea, one suggestion
by SSNarnia on 2018/11/24 17:58
This is a good app, does exactly what its supposed to. It ranks the decibels in what space you would hear them at, for example a quiet whisper or home, a subway, food blender, or even rocket launch. I would recommend this app even though I don’t use very much at all.(No pressing need to know the decibels I’m hearing ever) My one suggestion is to add facts about our hearing, like when a human would lose their hearing or hear ringing. It has the threshold of hearing labels on the chart, but more facts like that would be nice.
It is a simple, yet useful tool.
by Beckyboo-5 on 2019/06/11 17:14
Our use the app to quantify the complaint “it’s too noisy”. It allows me to put a number on how noisy a thing is so that I can compare it to how it sounds after I fix the noise, or to the sound of my normal speaking voice. The graphic display is useful for showing someone how loud it is, or isn’t. The best way to improve this app would be not to have pop up ads, that is an unreasonable expectation on a free app!
Excellent
by Kfab12 on 2017/11/18 21:02
The app is easy to use and understand. Comparing it to the decibel meter I have from Radio Shack they are very close. It’s like comparing one temp thermometer to another, the usually don’t match but one degree or very close is good enough and that was the same when holding the two decibel meters side by side. Spend the $1.99 and get rid of those ads. I consider this decibel meter accurate (or in the ballpark) and dependable.
Awareness of loud sounds
by plug ping on 2018/02/14 15:28
I was not aware how important my hearing was to me till my daughter, whom is a doctor brought to my attention about my hearing. she mentioned to me I don’t seem to be hearing so well. It dawned on me that at work. I work with a lot of loud machine (I’m a cook). I proceeded to looked up a free Doppler to help me judge sounds around me. It’s important to me that I keep my hearing about me, well into my 90’s., if I live that long. I carry w/ me now at all times ear plugs for my safety! Thank goodness for the free Doppler device!
Excellent
by TSNewhart on 2017/10/13 18:01
We needed a sound level meter to measure some barely audible mechanical sounds in an aircraft cockpit. This app worked perfectly. We then used it to measure extremely high sound levels to test passive sound attenuation of various combat helicopter flight helmets. Again the app provided extremely accurate and therefore useful data. Excellent piece of software. Highly recommended.
Nice app glad it’s fixed.
by jon314159265 on 2019/02/18 18:18
Press “Restore Purchases” every time I want to use an app that I paid for, or agree to a subscription??? Just annoying. But it looks to be fixed now. So that’s good. Accuracy seems reasonable, and I actually like the unweighted option. Also helpful to confirm that my kid is super loud and my stereo isn’t, which validates my position in a long standing family debate.
Useful and frequent updates
by DunDano on 2019/02/08 08:23
I have used the paid app for several years in restaurants and music venues to help control my exposure to harmful sound. The app is easy to use and informative. The app is frequently updated with features and themes. Version 7 cleaned up and enlarged everything with large fonts. I haven’t used the camera feature.
Great for older folks
by Aruba4us on 2018/02/01 17:27
Being of an older age but thinking like someone younger, this app allows me to understand why I get so annoyed in most restaurants, movie theaters, and other public places. I will now carry ear plugs and put them on at a particular sound level. Maybe this will help with my getting annoyed. Maybe cold restaurants and other places is your next app.
Amazing that this app exists, thanks
by zzzxxx2019 on 2019/09/21 21:35
Downloaded this to check the decibel of the music my neighbor was playing outdoors. It was vibrating inside my house, i could hear it in every room of my house even with all the windows closed. Neighbors complained to the police, even after the police made them turn it down it still registers between 42-47.
Agreed. Many different applications!
by rkdr82 on 2019/07/26 05:29
From loud to soft music, but especially...WARNINGS to wear protection, be it a basketball game (just attended & needed protection) or a rock concert or perhaps classical music. I have not explored the entire application, as it was initially used to evaluate some decent speakers (one was in need of repair). I should have used it at the “arena ”, as ears are still ringing! (Bad from a doc’s point of view.) Thanks for a good +++++ app that we just need to use more!!! Thanks!
Food poisoning of Cookies!
by Shena4949 on 2019/05/30 16:20
IMO, this app will violate your privacy! No, I’m not giving you permission to record my conversations! I’m not giving you permission to share my anything! I could not even tell the app worked! The app also took me to screens that I could not find my way bk to the “Home Screen”! Don’t take me to a screen where I cannot get bk to the “Home page” of the app without me having to “x-out” of the entire app!!!! Why do you, software developer, take me to a page I can’t exit out of unless I “X-Out” of the entire app??? How dumb?!?!? And no, you’re not selling my personal data!!!

by OSHAretiredCIH on 2018/01/15 22:12
As someone who used sound level meters over 35 years with OSHA this is an interesting concept. Technique for microphone orientation (perpendicular to line of noise or pointing directly at the source) could help with accuracy. Also, I could not find any peer reviewed professional articles on the accuracy of this device. I liked the integrating graphs and ability to change settings (fast/slow response, NIOSH/OSHA doubling) features.

by ThumpBangs on 2018/03/31 13:43
I run sound as a volunteer at my church and in my own band. With my iPad sitting next to my smart monitor ? In comparison I am happy and confidant each programs measurement and am confident my field use is accurate enough for true adjustments even with the iPad mic. I like this app a lot and probably still will hook it up to a true reference mic but as is out of the box ? It's spot on.
One of the best apps available
by Paso_Bob on 2018/09/03 16:24
I was interested in replacing my garage door opener . It was very loud, but it was difficult to determine the specific source of the loud sound. It did not take long, using the decibel meter app to determine that the garage made much of the noise, but that the old motor was equally guilty. I replaced the motor and drive mechanism and just lubricated the door. PROBLEM SOLVED
Ok so far
by xfdcghbytf on 2019/02/06 15:04
Does what i need. Small enough use that i hope the authors get enough ad income from the ads i get when i switch functions. It has been hard to avoid hitting the free trial of the advanced button which i think cancels the really free ad version. If i get the project i need done two weeks from now with no annoyance i will come back and put 5 stars.
Great little utility!
by Medsmon on 2017/11/17 14:14
I love this little decibel meter. While there is no easy way to calibrate it perfectly without having an absolute accuracy decibel meter for reference, it does a fantastic job of giving relative decibel measurements. And you can get the calibration quite close if you can find a very quiet room. Five stars for this great little utility!
Free Magic
by Sprydog13 on 2018/11/11 15:51
To paraphrase another reviewer, even the free version blows my mind. I always thought it would be cool to be able to measure sound pressure levels in cars at various speeds to compare with those reported in car magazines, but could never justify the $250 for a real device. To have this capability for free is just magical.
Frustrating if you change your mind
by CFB2000 on 2019/06/06 14:48
Overall I have only one gripe with the app. If you subscribe to the premium $4.99/month service, there is no way for you to unsubscribe. I changed my mind on the monthly fee service but I can’t cancel. Otherwise, the app is awesome.
Actually does what it says
by Helicarose on 2018/04/09 08:28
Most apps don’t do exactly what they say they do. I give you five stars because it actually did what it said it would. I just was looking for something that was different it but if you just looking to measure your sound level it’s a great app.....
Crashes when turned sideways
by Adakockenzh on 2018/01/26 21:15
This app is great but crashes when turned sideways if it’s not on the first page. This is annoying and has been an issue for a while now, probably from newer versions of iOS.
More accurate, but error in danger zone
by K8inLA on 2018/09/08 23:39
The latest version of the app is more accurate, and being able to set the weighting is a big improvement, but changing the red danger zone from 75 dB to 95 dB is just plain wrong. Even the NIOSH website says you should wear ear protection for any amount of time at 85 dB, and for children it should be even lower.
Horrible free version
by Skiphx on 2018/05/16 14:27
I don’t know if it really works or not. I understand ads on free versions. I see them at the top. But in a quiet room i am about to start a test and a video ad pops up and I have volume turned up and it blows me out of my chair. Every time you start the app before it starts, an ad video plays. I just needed it for a one off. Might be worth the $5 price if you use it often but the stand alone is just to freaking (insert expletive of choice) annoying. Deleted from my phone.
Great!
by Home brewer 0127 on 2018/01/17 03:56
Simple to use, easy to understand, and accurate. Graph shows recent data, each level has a description of equivalence, like Average Conversation. Max is also tracked. This is handy for checking if you are close to a noise complaint, or hearing damage.
Love it
by Jkmoore1010101 on 2017/10/12 00:53
Excellent App. Simple to use and gives examples of things at current decibel level, e.g. quiet whisper, noisy street, etc. the one feature I’d love to see is hearing loss info for given durations at a given distance at current sound. But I use this app all the time and love it. It is real intuitive and ad free.
Good app
by _cam- on 2018/11/05 06:53
Everyone who poorly rated saying “it registers 30 dB in a quiet room” need to realize that breathing is 10 dB and a library can be up to 40 dB. So of course your room is going to be at least 30 dB. It’s a good and accurate app, and the ads are something you have to deal with. It’s a free app. Toughen up
Ruined
by Rodhashemi on 2017/10/03 02:09
When I first downloaded his app a couple years a ago it was really good and I loved it, with the recent updates they changed the interface and made it look much better but now it keeps lagging all the time, and the way it does it makes it look like it’s supposed to be like that, I don’t know if that’s true or not but the lagging effects the graph and just doesn’t look good, so please fix if this is a glitch or change it to no lags if it’s supposed to be like that.
Nice to have.
by agimages on 2018/10/14 15:04
I have hearing loss. In order to preserve what I have left I use this to determine which tools I use which require use of hearing protection. To my surprise even my Jet small dust collector is loud enough to require me to use hearing protection. Great app. Thanks for making it available.
Idk what to name it
by Look at me im mr.meseks on 2019/06/10 22:16
This is the 1st dB meter that I’ve downloaded. I am pretty impressed with it it has a camera feature and it seems pretty reliable. One thing that I do not like is for over half of the features you need to buy there “premium”. Which I guess is normal for an app which is free. Overall a pretty good app.
Once quiet now noisy neighborhood
by W/O Limits on 2019/05/12 00:23
I can measure the decibels of music coming from my many neighbor’s outdoor speakers before I call to complain. To know that this app reads as well as the authorities app helps me sleep when my windows are vibrating any time of day/night.
Works well but...
by 143216357df on 2019/05/23 00:27
This app seems to work well for measuring decibel levels however you do need to sign up for a subscription that is free for the first three days. That’s all fine and dandy as they assure you you can cancel within three days from inside the app under settings. my problem is there doesn’t appear to be an option for this within settings. Also the email support link from in the app does not respond. I’m using an iPhone XS.
Not usable if you can’t see the screen.
by HawkEye2015 on 2018/07/14 05:41
Would like to use this app, it sounds really good and would enjoy using it and reading it a five star. However with apples voiceover enabled, voiceover will not allow me to use the controls on the app. Even if I have headphones plugged in to hear it clearly. Would love to help if anyway possible to make this VoiceOver compatible, and would really enjoy using this app. Would pay to unlock all features if it was VoiceOver compatible.
Ads, ads, ads
by Theatre-goer on 2017/12/05 15:48
I had the free version on my phone for about five minutes before deleting it as the constant adverts (both static and video with blaring sound) made it unbearable. Pity, because the functionality looks really cool. I get that free versions are meant to be teasers to get you onto the pro version, but at least let me see what the app is like to get a sense of whether it is worth paying for the full one
Great customer support experience
by nexttwo on 2019/07/02 04:50
Downloaded the app and didn’t like it, but I couldn’t find a way to cancel it. I sent an email to the support, they responded quickly and provided the link to cancel my subscription!
For hearing impaired
by byhktefho on 2018/04/14 21:22
My hearing is very bad and loud noise makes my brain to respond with loud ringing in the nerves. When I’m in church it’s gotten to be such loud music I can’t handle it so this lets me make them awair of it and maby it will help them keep it within range Pray for me to have luck with that
Waste
by essten on 2019/01/14 00:00
Although this might be a good app I refuse to give my credit card info only to deal with canceling or refunds. I find it deceiving not to mention that in order to use the app for the trial period you are required to submit credit card info. If I had liked it after the 3 days I would have gladly bought it. But deleted it as soon as it asked for my credit card info. Another fail and another app I will never use.
Really great app! Just one suggestion.
by Pandaman8787 on 2018/08/06 22:51
I really like the app. I bring to Minnesota Vikings games to see just how loud US Bank stadium gets. My one suggestion is if we could also select a video from the gallery and not just a picture to show the decibel avg, peek etc. That would be really cool. Otherwise works great.
Just using decibel meter
by msxcski on 2017/08/17 22:59

Great App!!!!
by HomeHawaii on 2018/06/27 00:01
The app is easy to install and use. Very responsive decibel monitor. Overall I am very pleased with it’s performance. Surprisingly there are countless times when the app is very useful. How did I live without it? I would highly recommend.
Gives a false impression of safe levels
by K8inLA on 2018/09/08 23:44
Moving the red zone to 95 gives a false impression that anything below this is safe. The area between 75 and 85 should be yellow and anything above 85 red. This would reflect OSH, NIOSH and World Health Organization guidelines. No music event should deliberately be programmed over 85 decibels. It just distorts the clarity of the sound - even for metal bands.

It’s not a free app with in app purchases. You have to sign up and cancel with 3 days for it to be free. If you forget to cancel you will be charged 3.99. I didn’t use the app, it was deleted when the terms were displayed.

I was not aware how important my hearing was to me till my daughter, whom is a doctor brought to my attention about my hearing. she mentioned to me I don’t seem to be hearing so well. It dawned on me that at work. I work with a lot of loud machine (I’m a cook). I proceeded to looked up a free Doppler to help me judge sounds around me. It’s important to me that I keep my hearing about me, well into my 90’s., if I live that long. I carry w/ me now at all times ear plugs for my safety! Thank goodness for the free Doppler device!

Thanks!

Ok so far
by xfdcghbytf on 2019/02/06 15:04
Does what i need.
Just using decibel meter
by msxcski on 2017/08/17 22:59
It works well and allow me to check noise level quickly and easily so I can be my noise protection set up. (Or sometimes ask the music to be turned down)
Great App!!!!
by HomeHawaii on 2018/06/27 00:01
The app is easy to install and use.
