The app was okay for the two days I had it, but then my account was blocked for no reason. I tried to reach out to customer service who could not give me a reason. Upon further attempts to reach out, I was ignored. Terrible customer service.

Loved this app and have both iPhone and iPad version. The iPhone version is great but in an update, the iPad version no longer offers filters or faces. That was part of the fun! Deducted a star for the iPad version. Please include filters, background and faces for iPad version! Great speaking to groups both domestically and internationally!

I changed a new phone but forgot my password. Following the ‘forgot the password’ steps, changing password then signing in with it, I always got ‘ wrong password’ response. I checked new password again and again, am pretty sure the password was correct and sent emails back and forth to the customer service, explained the issue several times, but it seemed they always responded like robots, they ended up saying they could not fix the issue. Very disappointed.

Just bought new iPhone and transferred all my old phone data to new iPhone with no problems. Now I can receive calls, texts and video calls with no problems BUT I cannot call, text, or video call anyone!!! All settings appear ok. So what gives? Love the app for its versatility but with these problems , I‘ll probably drop it and go to Viber or whatever

One day, I had a friend over and we didn’t have contact with each other, except roblox (which you should totally download) which had tags and had more stuff to deal with. But LINE, LINE is just awesome. She told me about this app that had cool filters, texting stickers, and more! This is what I use to text almost all of my friends! It is so simple and it even tells you when someone’s birthday is coming up and when to say happy birthday. Sign up now and join the LINE party!

i don’t like the fact that you can’t make accounts with facebook anymore. i got logged out randomly (might be because my previous account was made with facebook?) and i live in japan so everybody uses line and i’m the only one who can’t communicate with my japanese friends and i find it super inconvenient

There is a variety of stickers. That’s good. The app needs to stop asking users to access to their photos every time they enter their chat group. This is annoying. 2 stars until it’s fixed.

Can't keep my theme in place and I have to manually update those. Deletes media content without informing me or asking me if I'd like to keep it first. Doesn't notify me of messages randomly and without warning. Occasionally blocks Face ID to unlock. Cannot ever find people by username, I have to use links from social media pages to follow artists and designers I like. Doesn't EVER seem to remember my settings. Pinned conversations don't load in the proper order expected or shuffle around based on most recent messages. Honestly? Please stop adding features and focus on stability. I've had one friend locked out of LINE for 3 years now. :|

Please let us rearrange our stickers again and remove what we don’t use. It’s frustrating to matter how many times I rearrange or delete them they keep coming back and won’t stay sorted the way I want it to. :( Please also let us bulk delete stickers instead of one at a time. Apart from that this app is really great. Have been using it for many years now. Will update review and rating to more positive once this sticker problem has been addressed. Thank you!

I’ve used this app for many years; it’s arguably as good as the iMessage app, if not better mostly for how customizable it is. From buying themes and stickers off the store to even making your own; I love the creative freedom the app has just for what’s on the screen. My one gripe is that once you buy stickers and themes, you can uninstall them from your phone; but you can’t delete them permanently off your account. I personally would want to get rid of stickers I don’t use or get rid of themes I don’t want permanently off my account.

Thereafter its recent considerably large update that had rendered a different UI look to Line, as well as other “performance tweaks” and what not, this app starkly contrasts its previous versions which were much better than its current one; server-wise and performance-wise too. It’s laggy, glitchy and frequently doesn’t deliver the call notifications that I get from my GF. Not to mention issues of latency during calls. Whatever you did to this app, undo it. I’ve been a longtime user of this app and it’s frustrating to see it’s behaving as such.

Originally I used a Chinese number to register LINE and everything works fine, till I recently update my phone and thought my old number would works as usual. However, when I tried to log in, I couldn’t receive the validation code. I’ve emailed the customer team and their response was very robotic and unhelpful. So I cannot log back in even tho I have the password and registered email and have lost all my contacts and purchased emojis in LINE. Great! 🙃🙃🙃

On my old ip5 , i uninstalled and i couldnt login bc i didnt have phone number to login, only Email. And until now i cant login and access my Line acc. I did sent inquiry to Line but they cant fix it , they cant even detect mt Line acc, well of course they cant bc i cant even login. Terrible terrible chat app! 👎🏻

Warning. If you ever upgrade your phone you wont be able to log back in to your account unless you link it to Facebook or your Apple ID apparently ..... having log in info isnt good enough even though every other app can allow you to log back into your account on a new device. This is the only app ive ever had this problem with and not sure why the maker chooses to do this. Be warned. This is garbage.......

I updated mid-day, but now my OpenChat messages won’t appear. In the message preview and icon for new messages, I can see there are new ones. When I open the OpenChat group, I can only see the ones from before the update. I’ve force quit and restarted LINE but it didn’t help at all.

So I just download the app and everything but I was try logging and it says “verification is temporarily blocked please try again later” so I was so confuse. So I email them they responded with them telling me I violated the guidelines and unlawful thing. I don’t know what guidelines cause a just open an account and haven’t even add people yet I don’t know what they are talking about.

So I have a few friends that use this. Mainly to discuss games we play and strategies, for some reason it never let me send a message, I could only view what everyone was saying. I wrote to them and asked for help, they literally wrote me saying that I had been banned for giving info out?????? How is that even possible? No one could ever see what I wrote so how did that happen?? Obviously they don’t know how to monitor there own app, I recommend using anything else other than this garbage app. Shoot even MySpace was better than this garbage

While line is typically a good way for communicating with people, and has many good aspects, there is nothing more infuriating to me than how they think it’s a good idea to delete every single conversation or chat just because you sign in on a second device. I bought a new iPad, thought it might be cool to have line one it. Nope. What does Line think? Automatically deleting all of my chat history on my iPhone, the device that I carry with me at all times? This makes no sense, and is the dumbest feature about line. I have a line account for a reason, why do they think I want all of my chats deleted just because I sign in on a second account? Not happy, and many lost conversations.
If you can’t get the verification code there is no hope.

Sadly after 2 years of using the app it started to have issues, after reinstalling I was unable to get the verification code and they are not customer friendly AT ALL. provide little to no help is resolving you issue unless a sorry excuse is what you are looking for.

Line is a great app, but it is incredibly irritating that calls are so loud. There is no way to mute a video call, and even in the softest possible volume setting, whispers are loud enough to wake the dead.

Absolutely horrible. So many error messages. And it seems so arbitrary. One minute I can access my chats, the next, there is “an unexpected error occurred” message. Good luck verifying phone numbers and setting your line ID. Freeze and crash. This app is freaking ridiculous. Like a bunch of kids set it up as a school project and they didn’t care if Mr. Rogers gave them an F. All they cared about was the assignment was turned in. Because who cares? Spring break is coming up. That’s the level of professionalism that’s in this app. Disgusting. Switched to another app completely. That meant over 20 employees and coworkers switched. Every. Single. One. Had the same issues. Lost our business. Fix this. It was too promising to be true..

I can’t get back my account since my phone was broken and no way to receive the verification code while trying to login with the new phone. Once I contacted Line customer service, they just said I have to create a new account if my previous phone was broken. This doesn’t make sense for this case. There are many social apps and only Line has such weird limitation. I lost many social groups and friends in Line account. I won’t trust and use Line anymore.

When log in to other device all my message was deleted even it is save to my account..just hope that it will be like more messenger that if you’ll log in your account to other devices all my messages will still be there but in line app all of it will be gone and for that not to happen you’ll need to back up all of your file to old device before logging in to new device which is very complicated

I erased the LINE App and downloaded again, and every time I put in my phone #. “Verification is temporarily blocked. Please try again later”. So I contacted line Customer Service and they are not able to assist me, this is what they wrote: Thank you for contacting LINE Customer Care. Latest update as of 1/19/21 has caused notification previews to completely remove the message. It now says “you have a new message from -insert person tagging here-“ Or “you have new messages in -insert specific group name here-“ as before you would actually see a brief part of the actual message that you were tagged in, or that notified you. The new “private” notifications is not helpful, and should have the setting to turn it on/off but does not. Please fix this issue.

Upgraded my iphone and line requires a code to be sent to my previous device despite my ability to pass 2 factor authentication protocols. Previous device doesn’t exist (got a new phone and traded in the old one), meaning I’m forced to set up a new account - lose my previous contacts, groups, and settings. Really poor service model.
Worst App I Have Ever Used

TL;DR: Upon downloading LINE, my number was suspended within 10 minutes and I wasn’t given any explanation when I reached out to their help center. I downloaded this app for the first time yesterday thinking this was the app to more efficiently message with friends I’ve made on a video game. I attempted to create a group chat and was immediately given an error message, which I found strange because my other friend told me they were able to create one (his first time). No big deal, I’ll just join that one, but when I attempted to create a username so that I could be found in the search tab, nothing would happen. I tried this for a couple a minutes and decided to just re-install the app. However, when I attempted to login with my phone number I received a notice saying that my phone number was temporarily blocked?!?! At this point, I’m incredibly annoyed at how this could even be possible... I JUST DOWNLOADED IT 15min ago at this point and literally everything that could have gone wrong in using this app already has. So, I contact support only for them to get back to me later on the day (at least they have that going for them?) to tell me that I’ve been banned for one of several reasons illegal or inappropriate reasons, NONE of which I did considering that I didn’t even manage to create a username before being suspended. I don’t know when they’re going to lift the suspension, but that’s hardly relevant I’ll simply use something that’s actually competent. Nonetheless, how is something like this even possible?! I’d give this garbage app 0 stars for wasting my time if possible.

My mom used this to connect with her friends and play tsum tsum. She does not have a cell phone and no longer can connect to line. I never personally liked this app, and now really hate it. It’s very useless for connecting with people and the developers don’t think outside the box, if you want more people to sign up do not tie it to a cell phone.

Every time I start or continue a chat I'm always asked about LINE wants access to my photos. Every single time. After so many bug fixes how do they continue to ignore this one? It's been updated many times already since this bug started and it's still happening and it's quite annoying. Every other app I use that requests photo access has never had this issue. What is wrong with line that they can't fix this simple bug? Come on, line developers, fix this annoying issue already!

One of the problems with this app is that if you haven’t used it in awhile it is very hard to reactivate the account. I’ve tried many times and I can’t get past the phone number. I can’t cancel my old account. I like line but they make it real hard to use.

No real support you get automated messages and questionnaires then generic messages which are no help at all. I wasn’t even responded to and have no idea if my account or phone number was blocked or banned when I didn’t use this app in almost 4 years. But, some how I “violated” terms according to a generic message that lists things I might have done. Total garbage!

Keeps getting stuck on the search page. I cant get back into the app no matter what I do. Something majorly wrong with the way this app is pairing with iPhone 12 mini. Have updated IOS. Extremely frustrating. I have to reach my uncle in Taiwan but I wish he knew a different technology so I never have to use this again.

I’m temporarily blocked from accessing my line app for doing nothing as I can see. I can’t find even an answer for to fix or change this. I use this to communicate with my gaming friends and so I’ve lost all contact with them because of it. Makes no sense and I’ve done nothing but communicate with friends on this app. So if this doesn’t get fixed for me then why would anyone use this crap of an app

normally the only reason i use line is because of its excellent call quality, but recently after me and my boyfriend both downloaded the newest update, the quality has gone down significantly. the sound is tinny and often sounds like it is glitching. this hasnt been the case for years and years of using this app, but all of a sudden it sounds no better than any other app i use to make calls. i really hope this gets fixed after another update because its unbearable after having that level of clarity for so long.

I got a new phone and passed my old one to my son after finishing backup. But then figured that I have to have my old device to transfer my account, which is a hard lesson I learned. I reached out to customer service for help and let them know that I created my line account using Facebook, but was told that they can’t find my registered email address. I think they changed the rule and requires to have either a registered email or phone number, but I’m paying the price for their changes. Be careful, if your old device broke and you created the account using Facebook, you’ll never get your account back!

Not being able to transfer line history between Android and iOS and not being able to recover your account if you lose access to your phone number make this app essentially pointless and unusable. For a company of this you would think the recovery process for both chat history and your own account would be simple but I guess not.

Ive always known LINE as "that instant messenger that Japanese people used", so i was a tad surprised upon installing and acquainting myself with it that its more like a mini-social-media platform than a messenger. Much like how YAHOO Japan became more than just an email client and more of a "hub of everything", LINE follows the do-it-all SNS trend of having apps "inside" the app, like photo editing, games, news, and more. I day "inside" because although they appear part of the package, you must install most of them separately, and i imagine using them is more along the lines of "tapping on the tab takes me to the app", thus these "features" are more like advertisements to other apps the LINE company runs. Like grocery stores, these companies would rather you be their one-stop-shop, to the detriment of users who dont largely get any benefit from the siloing while getting the detriment f a bloated, dense interface that is trying to flag your attention on the daily with bright red dots, merely to remind you that "hey! did you know these features are still here? you should use them!" Cant turn that off. Since i dont use these other SNS aspects minus the sticker store once (something most messengers have, but LINE stands out by allowing sticker-makers to make money off their goods, which is nice, but surprisingly doesnt increase the quality of stickers), i will go on to review just the messaging section, service, and user interface of the app. I will be comparing it against Telegram, the gold standard in "messaging done right". My phone is an original iPhone SE. The LINE app itself is a bit on the slow side, most noticeably laggy on switching tabs, and very slow to start-up. I see they have discarded their nice default theme of green, black, and pleasing neutrals to eye-punching flat white and flat black, like many trendy apps this month, but luckily you have two free additional character-based themes to choose from that are easy and the eye and add some fun detail to the otherwise boring, insane-asylum padded-room interface. LINE doesnt automatically backup your chats and contacts unless you "register" with an email, which i found out several days in when a popup asked if i wanted to backup, which was probably informed of during the beginning and missed due to how odd it is for a messaging service to require a phone verify yet not use that as a registration identifier. I would rather the service allow this "feature" up front or require me to choose a unique handle like Telegram than require email. Messaging service is reliable for the most part (except in the period between when i uninstalled and reinstalled, when i apparently was sent messages and never received them and neither party was notified of this), complete with "Read" and the animated ellipsis that signifies typing, neither of which i believe are configurable. Settings are pretty scant in general, yet the app footprint is quite large, and like many apps, accumulating "document and media storage" as visible in the iPhone storage Settings tab is not clearable without an uninstall, and can get significantly large. Custom emojis are cute and very well done, but im missing colon shortcuts. Photo editing with stamps before sending is rudimentary but surprisingly nice, although this is unfortunately the only way to send a caption alonside a photo. Long-press message options are bloated but the essentials like replying are there. All in all, LINE messaging gets the job done, but its not as smooth and streamlined as it could be. If youre looking for a new mainstay messenger + service, use Telegram while its still good. But if youre looking to connect with your Japanese friends (or anyone in Japan benefitting from free provider data usage in conjunction with LINE...), you will find that your stay is comfortable, in a discount "fancy" hotel sort-of-way.

Using the iPhone 12 and 12pro to share video in chat, video color is pale and yellowish. Same issue when uploading/sharing shot by the native iPhone camera app videos as well as using the Line camera. No filter was applied.

I’ve been using line for a while and I loved it before, but then I got a new phone and it told me I needed to get a passcode from my previous device to keep my old account. Obviously I don’t have access to my previous device and now it’s making me make a new account. This app is the only way I’m able to see my work schedule and get announcements from work. Now I’m going to have to make a whole new account and have them re-add me to everything. Upset.

I use Line to chat and have video and audio calls with loved ones on the other side of the world. Line has good privacy: 1. You can choose a username (a "Line ID") to share with people instead of your phone number. (This ID can't be changed later, so be careful, but you don't have to choose it right away either.) 2. Line does not reveal when you are online. 3. Line does not show others the time at which you read your messages. (The "read receipts" in Apple's Messages app, when turned on, does reveal this information, which in turn can tell other people more than you want them to know.) 4. Line has encryption for messages (called "letter sealing"); it "only works in chats where all members have enabled it" (but, as I recall, this is turned on by default). Line has a few issues: • There's no way (that I can find) to send feedback except via App Store reviews. (Which is the only reason I include the next item here.) • The new Share interface (in version 9.18.0) ignores my text-size settings (both those for Line and those in iOS's Settings) and shows everything in a tiny font, which is significant problem for me. It also requires that you choose a recipient before you can compose a message to accompany what you are sharing. Previously, being able to leave the recipient blank, so that my message could not accidentally be sent before I'd finished composing and correcting it, saved me from embarrassment many times, so I hope the devs restore this ability. • VoiceOver support is poor. (I deducted one star for this.) Sometimes the VO cursor cannot be advanced, sometimes it reads irrelevant content (e.g. when I open a context menu for a chat, VO reads the chat instead of the menu). At least one interface control (the audio-recording button) uses VO give instructions on how to use VO! (Line Corp, you need to support ALL people who rely on your app, full stop.) Two problems I experience may be caused by network issues beyond Line's control, so I want to be careful in mentioning them: • Frequently my attempts to call from the U.S. to Thailand fail: I will hear ringing but the recipient hears and sees nothing; after several rings I get a "no answer" message while the other person gets a "missed call" message. Fortunately the person in Thailand can call me. (When I want to initiate a call, I text a request and the other person calls me, but if such an arrangement is not suitable for your purposes this could be a serious obstacle.) • I sometimes experience lags in the audio portion of video calls from the U.S. to Thailand. Again, this affects one direction only. (I hear audio with a delay that ranges from several seconds to a minute or more and tends to increase during the call, while my companion hears me in real time.) Audio-only calls nearly always work fine. Tips and last thoughts: Regarding photos and videos: To save an item to Photos with the date and time it was sent, rather than the date you saved it, choose "Share in other app" and then, in the iOS share sheet, "Save to files". From there you can save the items to the Photos app. (You can also save an item directly from Line to Photos but its original send date will not be preserved.) In any case, if an item is important you should not wait very long to save it: many items remain available to download for a long time, but some don't. Line is pleasant to use. The calls are free, the privacy is good, and they don't bombard us with ads, so I recommend to reward this company by purchasing some stickers now and then, which expand your ability to be expressive in chat. Some really nifty ones are available. (The "Katsushita Nyanko on the Move" set is among the best.)

So I’d say Line is like the best thing that has ever happened to me since I’m not allowed to have a social media account. It’s easy to use, I can stay in touch with all my friends and family who have the app themselves, and hey, who doesn’t like personalization?! Line allows you to personalize your app so it’s looks are to your liking and you can even add in some stickers. On that note, let me just say. LINE POINTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET. You NEED Line points to get those personalized themes and stickers. You NEED Line points for your Line to not be boring. But there’s like NO WAY for you to get Line points. Of course there is the option of “follow the Line Points account for free Line points”. I tried and then realized that there is an EXPIRATION date to how long your point activation lasts. And this can only be done ONCE. What’s worse? They only give you 5. It says 20! What can you do with 5 points? It’s pretty much like “I’ll give you 20 points but I didn’t feel like it so I’ll give you 5”. There is no system where you can accumulate more points over time which I think is needed. The only way to get points is from gift cards or hacking. And we all know you don’t want any of your personal info to be leaked right?

LINE is a great messaging app in my opinion for if you don't want to continue using the same old boring messaging app (no offense ;)) The fact that you can actually personalize chats is really cool so you can make it look how ever you want it to look like. Also that you can post things and edit your account so you don't have just one boring messaging app. This feauture helps others socialize not just by texting but also by looking at their daily life and favorites in a more fun way! I also really like the fact that LINE also made games associated with LINE so you could also have something fun to do if you're bored of texting and want to show off your gaming skills! I've heard of this app long before too, tried it, and also had great results! This isn't really a negative thing but I wish when you chat with official accounts they don't repeat the same thing(s) and that you can actually message them because of course no one would like to keep getting the same message(s) it would be very irritating! Overall though this app is great and I recommend it for those who want to socialize with others in a more cuter way. Download it and try LINE for yourself!

I’ve been using Line since 2012 and it’s my #1 SNS app to chat with my friends I prefer it vastly over Whatsapp (which I only use with my family). Also since I moved back home last April I was relieved to transfer my account to my new number and see everything was left as if I’ve never changed my number, my chat history was there and all even my photos! However it might’ve been changed recently or I haven’t noticed but do you guys remember we could follow Official Accounts from other parts of the world? That’s how I came across Gackt, Flumpool and Uverworld etc (I’ve already been a fan of them I was just happy to find their Line accounts and announcements!) and right now as I was checking to see if I could add more J-Rock bands’ accounts I saw that the ‘change region’ button on the Official Accounts interface disappeared? What’s up with that? I can’t see new accounts from Japan anymore! And honestly the ones from my home country Ecuador are...nothing exciting...therefore could Line bring that back?? Please? Otherwise you would’ve gotten fully 5✨’s from me...

I havent felt the need to complain about this app cause ive loved it since it came out but im supper dissapointed that whenever you guy’s launch cool free stickers, Im not able to download cause probably the region or whatever which is super unffair cause now you guy’s launch free Brawl Stars line stickers and the worst feeling ever not being able to download them whatsoever. That’s just not right. I remember when there would be free stickers once in a while and id get them, ive even put some money into this app cause i love the stickers but its super dissapointing that i can’t even download the stickers of my favorite game app.. it’s just really wrong.. You guy’s should be fair and if it’s free, let it be on every region that people do use the app cause im from the US and now im in NL but i still use my US acc so i just dont understand why i can’t download it...its really messed up. I got all happy when i saw the pop up of the stickers hoping id be able to get them and nope..i got my hopes up for nothing..not right guy’s not right at all. You should go back to how it was when you’s would let everyone download the free stickers for a limited time when you’s announce it’s free. Shoot just heartbroken by this..

Ok so, first of all Line is my favourite texting app and I’ve been using it for YEARS. I’ve had no problems with it up until like 5 minutes ago. It was working fine since I was able to chat and video call with my friends about an hour ago. I hung up and left the app and I was going back and I went to the chats place and it’s just showing me a loading circle and nothing happening. When I press anything nothing works and the app just closes itself and takes me to my Home Screen. My friend sent me a message that she is having the same problem with line. I was thinking of deleting it and reinstalling it but that would mean I lose all my texts and data on it. My friend said she restarted her phone but the problem was still there. Please fix this cuz I don’t want to lose anything. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME AND PLEASE FIX THIS 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. I can’t even back up the messages since it won’t let me do anything on the app. The page is just frozen and just keeps loading. That’s all and I’m so stressed from this.

It’s a really good app and has quite a few good features, but the LINE points promotions aren’t working for me? I have yet to see any promotions on the page, and it’s frustrating me because there seems to be no other way to get points. The help menus continually tell me to register a phone number to get points whenever I search for a possible solution, but I already have. I don’t know what kind of issue this is or if it can be fixed but I’d like it to be resolved. On a different note, when you type in a chat, related stickers pop up with certain words (like the word can has stickers of tin cans), and while that’s sometimes helpful, it also somewhat frustrates me. When you chose a sticker, it replaces the related word (it highlights the word so you know which one it’s referencing, thankfully). Another thing is that the thing that pops up with the stickers blocks you from seeing the chat if you want to read what someone else sent as you’re typing.

I cannot believe how careless the creators can be! They have updated the app, yes! But not the help articles! I just changed my country and wasn’t able to log in! First thing, they don’t have customer support service. It is very non-professional. If their customer are trying to get help there is no body they can email/call. Now you can only login via number and fb. I didn’t have my Facebook linked and since I changed the country, I wasn’t able to get any text. They should have provided the option with the email. Also, a new account was made when i tried to sign in using my current number and i put my old email. The instructions from app told me to reinstall and select the option “existing user” and guess what? There was no option! How can you update the app but your manual for customers is for old versions!! Is this a way you are trying to make money? Because all those expensive stickers can just be gone? This is seriously unbelievable! Now i am not able to change my phone number because it is stuck to the same country I had before. They really need to work on their app and make it easily usable for everyone!

This app is fantastic. I can call home while I’m living abroad in Japan for free. I’ve used this app for years as my main source of online communication with family and friends in and out of the country :) BUT I have one problem with it, as of recently. If anyone can shed light on this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Ever since updating Line about a week ago, I have not been receiving call/missed call notifications.. like a call screen on the lock screen. It’s kinda hard to explain but when I open the app is only when I notice I have a missed call, like hours later! Anybody have the same issue with this or some tips/advice? Thank you!

Over the 2 years I’ve been using LINE now I have liked it better than other chat apps, however, whenever I switch phones and try to log In it tells me that either my email or password is unrecognizable. So I tap the forgot password link and enter my email to reset it. BUT! LINE has no record of my email ever existing?!? 🤬 twice now it has done this. I’ve had the same and ONLY email for 15 years. Used it both times to open new accounts so I could chat with my buddies halfway across the world but I swear. One of my games has switched to discord over these issues and if the other one does I’m dropping line completely. Listen to me, you are losing customers over stupid issues. This is neither a new problem nor a complicated problem. I already refuse to spend money on your app anymore where I used to buy stickers left right now I am considering dropping you completely as have many that I know over these very simple and yet continually ignored problems. Fix your house LINE Or soon you’ll find you have no customers at all

I’ve been using this app on and off for almost 5 years, one of my favorite features has always been the ability to swipe to see chat albums and chat notes, it made everything so simple and comprehensive, as notes have always been very important in the chats I am in. Unfortunately, the newest update removes that feature to favor a “swipe to reply” system, which I have found to be completely unnecessary and rather frustrating to use. Nearly nobody that I know ever even uses the reply feature, all important inquiries are usually found in notes, which were once easily accessible with just a swipe. Additionally, any “replies” to inquiries made in chat would just be responses to the conversation, you know, like how normal people talk. The unique feature of even having notes is what drew me to Line in the first place, and making it more difficult to reach those notes really discourages me from using the app. This update got rid of the most important aspect of Line, and will prevent me from using their services in the future.

I've been using line for about a year. There's really a few things I really can't stand. There's so many stickers and there's no way I am scrolling for 60 hours to see them all - they need to categorize them better and make it easier to find the ones you want. I was looking for a set of stickers and finally just gave up even though I know it was there. Second thing is your stickers and everything else you bought needs to transfer to all your devices with just your phone number because I don't want to make an account, I'm sick of making accounts for everything, a phone number with a pin should be enough. Cause I just lost $30 worth of stuff. Also come on, 600 MILLION users and no way to meet new people. There are no chatrooms or groups you can join to meet new people. It’s all by invite/you have to know them already. I want the ability to meet NEW people by joining groups or chatrooms.

So earlier today I was on my iPod but had to run an errand so to stay in touch I got the app on my phone. What the heck is the point of me having to log in and etc if you just DELETE all my chat info anyway. I don't know any other kind of social app that doesn't keep msg data if logging in with the same acc. The chat back up is cool but that shouldn't be necessary to not lose chat info, or make it so it does that automatically. Apple products have automatic back up, you guys should do the same. I mean frankly I'm vexed right now but that doesn't change the fact this is an issue you guys should work on. Also stop getting rid of free stickers you guys have had forever (years). When you take away from what you have, you just make yourself less valuable. I joke fight my friends because they prefer Discord over this and honestly I can’t blame them. Stop taking away from the little you have to compete with. Oh and I’ve bought stickers through the years, so I’m a customer, not just a free-loading opinion.

***changing my review to 1 star because I’m tired of logging in over and over on my iPad. FIX YOUR APP!!!! I have spent over $40 on stickers and have used this app for over 3 years. Here are my complaints: As others have noted, stickers that used to show up as suggestions DISAPPEAR until you delete and re-download the sticker set. Lousy way to sort sticker sets. I have 90+ sticker sets and sorting them manually one by one using the cumbersome tool literally take 20 minutes. No way to assign your own stickers a text shortcut so they will pop up as suggestion. Seriously, it’s been years already and this is an incredibly basic feature. iPad app doesn’t log you in automatically like the iPhone version. Seriously? It doesn’t even have option to remember th email address\username either? No way to synchronize chat history across iOS devices? Really? Even aol instant messenger has this basic feature. Sticker packs completely disappear sometimes. I know for a FACT I have purchased and used the stickers from the sticker set, have chat history to prove it. But it disappeared from my list of purchased stickers with an option to purchase again? Lame. This is overall a great app, so I will give 2 stars instead of 1 but you seriously need to fix the bugs and provide the basic features. Especially the stickers disappearing until you redownload them. Not everyone wants to go through your insanely clumsy sticker sorting process over and over.

My boyfriend and I love to use LINE for its stickers! It’s the only app we use to message each other, and there’s so many stickers to choose from. I admit I’ve spent more on stickers than I should have, but I can’t help it!! They’re too cute! I do wish that there weren’t region locked stickers... I recently bought an Apple Watch and am very disappointed in the watch app... Not being able to view read messages has really gotten annoying, because I tend to send stickers and respond. Also, not being able to use scribble has made it difficult for me to reply to any messages at work. Another issue is the fact that I cannot use the stickers I paid for. Understandably it may take some time to be able to configure it to share the stickers, but I would love to at least be able to choose a set that I can use... the default ones aren’t exactly my favorite.. I hope one day they will be able to update it but as of now I’m stuck using KakaoTalk if I want to message friends via my Watch.

I’ve been using Line with my family and some friends for a while and it’s worked nicely, especially when we’re connecting from abroad. The emojis and filters are fun for messaging. The messaging features have worked really well consistently. Unfortunately, the app stopped working with my phone’s notification features so it doesn’t ring or display a banner for Line calls the way it did before. I’ve checked my settings in both the app itself and on my phone, and have tried deleting then reloading the app as well. None of that resolved the issue. Now today, I received a Line notification banner and ring from the last Line user who called me via the app but the call was actually a regular iPhone call from someone who isn’t a Line user at all. (I never received a notification from the Line caller.) Looks like my app version is up to date. What gives, Line developers?

Not sure how this subpar app with absolutely no helpful customer service took over all of Japan, but it’s been a frustrating run with this thing. I’m currently completely unable to log in on my phone, so I tried the desktop app, which is impossible to log in to....without your phone? Isn’t that pretty illogical? I would imagine that using the desktop version would be a telltale sign that the phone app isn’t working. So now I have zero contact with all my Japanese friends I met during study abroad. Not only that, but before I got logged out, it inexplicably just stopped delivering my messages for three months. What’s that all about? Everyone thought I was reading their messages but just being a schlub and not responding. This app is subpar at best when it’s working, and just a nightmare when you need help. Send an email to the support line and you’ll get a completely automated response, with no option to talk to a human. At a loss for what to do about this. Meet new friends I guess?

Update: I’ve been using Line for years, but I don’t like it as much as I used to. First, the spam problem is out of control, I constantly get added and messaged by fake accounts and Line seems to have no way to address it. And second, when friends add you they show up in a tiny screen all mixed together with the spam adds and recommended friends. It’s so easy to miss the initial request, and then later have no idea who is a real friend or not, so I allow non-friends to send me messages. Which of course contributes to the spam problem. Line needs a clean way of dealing with friend requests, like Facebook. Original: I just started using Line and now prefer it to Whatsapp, Viber, etc. I have had several int'l phone calls- even without wifi its super clear and of course free! The stickers are also cute and fun to use. I don't get nagged to log in like other people, lucky me I guess. Great app!

I don’t know why lots of people are giving bad reviews on this app. I haven’t had any issues. I love the animated stickers a lot as well as the animated stickers with sound. I would really like to see lots more Disney animated stickers with sound in the future, due to those being my favorite stickers to buy. And there is very good deals on token prices and really love that. I’m not much of a big spender but when I see something I really like and can get it for cheap I always go for it but still careful not to go to crazy at the same time lol. Thanks so much for this awesome app! I was very hesitant at first but had lots of people persuade me to get this app. So I downloaded it and haven’t stopped loving it since I downloaded it. Keep up the good work!!!! And I look forward to any new and exciting updates.
Forward Thinking

Out of all the messaging company apps and having been able to use all of them quite extensively, the verdict for me would be that Line is the most forward thinking and practical out of all of them. The things that Line offers really targets the global market unlike the others. WeChat only focuses on China, KakaoTalk is very much popular only in Korea, WhatsApp and Messenger are well, on targeted to US and European consumers because it’s hardly ever used in Asia. Line on the other hand has a very even consumer base and this is what stands out with them. They are a Japanese base company but targets the entire market which is always good. Their camera is also quite feature rich and very fun to use. It can practically replace the default camera app of the iPhone. Japan always gets it right, man.
Don’t use app on multiple devices

Been using this app for years never had a problem until today. I downloaded line on my chrome book and when i signed in it booted me out of the app on my iPhone. When i logged back into my iPhone all of my chat history was gone. Years of messages that i didn't want to lose. I understand not being able to use it on two different devices at the same time but if it kicks you off it shouldn't delete everything. I googled the problem to see if there was a solution, but no there is not. Seems like a common problem and i wasn't the first it has happened to. You can backup your chat in the settings but it is too late for me now (also i shouldnt have to backup my history in the first place) This has never happened to me with any app before it needs to change. Hope the developers see this and do something about it. Fb messenger and discord do not have this problem. If changes are made ill change/edit my review.
Great and all but some minor problems and horrible customer support

I’ve been using the app for years now, it’s my #1 messaging app instead of iMessage because of the cute themes and stickers it has. Just recently, I’ve had problems when I reply on my lock screen on my phone, sometimes my messages don’t send at all. So I would have to log into my phone and then go into the app and reply again just for it to send. It’s quite the hassle and sometimes it does not notify me when I receive a message... I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app a few times and same issue occurs.. contacted customer support and it literally took them a week before answering back to me and made me take a survey and answer questions. I waited yet another week just to get a reply saying that it is a problem with my OS on my phone and told me to update to the latest IOS update. Which I already am on. I even went to apple and got a replacement phone and it’s still happening. Please look into it and fix this issue.

Okay to start off, I LOVE this app. It’s adorable and efficient and my friends and I have used it for years. I don’t usually leave reviews but I’m leaving one today because I have a suggestion and I can’t find a suggestion box or email or anything to leave it anywhere else. It’s a super simple suggestion, I just want to be able to see my own profile picture when sending messages. I can see everyone’s that I’m receiving in my group chat, I want to be able to see mine when I’m replying too. Maybe make it a feature you can turn on an off? I have wanted this for years and I’m finally trying to suggest it. I want to see my own chat icon in chat settings. PLEASE. I will give you my money! I just really want this.
Unimpressed with an unnecessary glitch

After one of the recent big updates, the quality of the app deteriorated in my opinion. While I can still receive videos and pictures, I can’t send any of my own. It takes over 30 minutes over resending before they finally go through, if they ever go through at all. I’ve used this app for over two years now and this is the first time I’ve had this issue, and it only came after an update. I’m without wifi in my current situation, but my other apps send and receive pictures and videos just find on my data so the problem isn’t caused by the lack of wifi. When I finally had a wifi connection a few days ago, the problem persisted. This is an in app issue that shouldn’t have been a problem to begin with. Whatever was changed that may have caused that shouldn’t have been changed at all.
Great app but a few bugs and glitches

I don’t understand why I am not able to use the app on my tablet and phone is the first programming error keeps wanting to delete my information and When I am on the go I use my phone but when I am home I use my tablet this issue needs to be fixed ASAP. The other issue I am having is that the photos I receive it won’t allow me to save them to my photo album on either device it just says loading and the spinning wheel of death just stays on the screen. I am also having issues with the program staying open and sending me updates of a new message being received have to periodically check to see if I have a new message. I am using all apple products and have most recent operating system iPhone XR and iPad Pro are the devices that I am using.

Overall a fantastic app, I much prefer it over discord. However, with the new update I've found it's much clunkier to type, and autocorrect doesn't seem to work nearly as well as before. I find that it takes much longer to type because of that which is annoying. I also don't like that it seems like I can't see as much on a line when I'm typing as before. One of the things I hate about the messaging for iPhones is how they set up the text bar with the photos and the like available right away, and I loved LINE since they didn't do that, but now that they've implemented a similar feature, I've found it very inconvenient. I did like that they changed where the microphone option was so if I want to send messages really fast I'm not missing the send button to accidentally press the mic button.

I love this app so much and it’s pretty much my only social media and I love all the features and little bunnies and bears. All I would like to add is to make the app more like SnapChat for the photos and time lines. Like maybe adding that dark line of text like in SnapChat because I think it’s superrrrr cute and retro and I think it’d be so cool if you could add like an add on to make your eye lashes longer. Because being a girl and using those filers don’t always look so good and I want my eye lashes to be more pronounced. And more filters like SnapChat. And I know I could just use Snapchat but I think I like this app better but I would just like better photo options. Otherwise great app thanks!

This is an amazing app! I use LINE every single day for incredibly fast and instant communication between friends, teammates, or other players on a “real-time” or “live” multiplayer game that i play. I am constantly engaged in and/or involved with multiple different group messages and single conversations and never had a problem. Cant think of a single complaint i have ever had. The only thing there is, the one and only thing that could possibly ever make this app any better then it already is, is this: (within group messages) From the very second you send a message in a group chat, your able to see how many people have read your message via the “read by” icon, followed by a number. That number is the actual number of people that have seen your message. That one thing to make this app better is to make the icon that shows the number of people your message has been “read by” a clickable button/link that brings up and shows who the actual people are that have read your message.

I’ve been using LINE app for iphone for years now and i never had a single problem with it, well not until i switched my phone to iPhoneX. Calls were working normally for a while until it suddenly gave the “microphone is not working” issue. First i thought it was the phone’s problem but i tried the phone on a normal call and it worked just fine. I thought maybe i should just restart? So i did restart, but still got the same error which is prohibiting me to start a call. I thought maybe i should just reinstall. So thats what i did, but still got the same error. I really dont know what to do and this app has been almost unusable for me. If there is an update requirement for the new iPhone hopefully it fixes this issue. If there is a fix i hope someone can help me with this. Until then i will rate it as i ser fit.

This is by far the best messaging app I’ve ever used! I haven’t had any difficulty with it on my iPhone 7+ and it makes your messaging experience extremely personalized. You can chose from a variety of stickers and you can even change your theme. There is also a function that lets you lock the app so it requires a password to keep your conversations private. Since I’ve used mainstream messaging apps so far it’s really nice to see so much variety and ways in which I can make this app personal to me. It makes the conversations on here personalized too so you feel like you are closer than just chatting with them other person/s
The "forgot password" system is awful

I used LINE a while ago and uninstalled. Just recently, I wanted to log in LINE Webtoon using my LINE account on my laptop since I had previously used my LINE account to log in and save comics. However, I forgot my password, and strangely, there wasn't any "forgot password" button on the laptop. The page only mentioned to use the app to ensure that logging in was enabled. I decided to redownload the app and see if it could be of any help, but when I tapped "forgot password," it told me to check my app settings to reset my password. I don't understand how I'm supposed to go to my app settings if I can't even log in. I googled for help, but I was unable to find anything of help. I'm not sure if I missed something, but if I didn't and this is truly how the forgot password system works, then I am appalled and flabbergasted. Please fix and improve this system if this is really how it works.
HD voice

The quality of the phone calls used to be stellar on this app its what got me to switch from skype to LINE however this recent update now offers an “HD Voice” that I cannot get on board with. Why the quotations? You may ask and the reasoning is simple there’s nothing HD about it. It’s more like some cheap equalizing trick that makes all phone calls sound like you’re communicating with two tin cans and a string. As far as I can tell the audio quality is a massive drop as to what it used to be, to the point that you can forget about having an understandable conversation while on speaker or at all if you’re using anything but earbuds DIRECTLY in your ear. Plainly put this new update might need to have this feature omitted or at the very least come with clear instructions as to how to turn it off. Not impressed and I stand by my 2/5 stars.
Worst customer service ever

The app for iPad is always left on the side. All the bugs are still going on and, the worst of all, if I exit the app by pressing the home screen and/or force quit, it automatically log out of my account. It’s extremely annoying to always do the login, especially if I change to safari to check a webpage (btw, don’t come with an update just fixing one of those mentioned problems, solve BOTH). I sent an email to the company and what i get in return is “If you enter in contact again we will take more time to solve your problem, dear costumer”. In other words “don’t bother us sending more emails cause we don’t care who you are and we don’t mind solving it”. I’ve been a loyal costumers for years on the iPhone app, music app and the physical store, but the company’s costumer service S*CKS and don’t care about the ones who support it. If I could rate this app minus ten stars, I’d gladly do so.

I thoroughly have enjoyed my time using this app. It's smooth and the stickers are my favorite. I own over twenty five sets. That said...I have one issue with the app. When the "unsend" feature was made available I thought it was great for those times you say something maybe you shouldn't have to someone. But it notifies them that you Unsent a message. So what is the point of unsending if they'll know you did so, which in turn will make them question and hound you over what you unsent? Please remove the "...unsent a message". It makes it pointless as they question you about what you said then you have to tell them.
Latest Update Ruined the App

Loved the app for years until the latest update. You used to be able to send voice messages via holding down a large button in the bottom middle of the screen. On the latest update, some genius decided the button should be much smaller and off to the right side. If you're right handed like most of the planet, forget trying to use the app for voice messaging. You will either: A) Have your thumb slip off the button from having to hold it in an awkward position. B) Drop your phone from having to hold it in an awkward position. C) Give up and use two hands which defeats the purpose of voice messaging to begin with. Fix your app and fire the genius who obviously didn't think this through. Why screw up a perfectly fine working app? Obviously some people are trying to justify having a job by "fixing" things that didn't need to be fixed.

I want to love Line. But since I started using the app to chat with friends in 2012, it’s always a terrible experience when it comes to managing my account. Including now in 2018! When I got a new phone I tried logging in to line and get a warning that I can’t be logged in to 2 devices and my old device’s chat history would be deleted. I forgot about that limitation, and of course don’t want that to happen so I quit the app and try to figure out how to back up my old app’s history. When I check my old phone it says my account is now in use by another device and proceeds to delete everything before I have the chance to backup my data! So I’ve lost all this year’s chat history for no good reason. How about a daily automatic backup? Or an option to allow multiple devices to save chat history? This is our data!
LINE accounts

There should be an option where line users who deleted their LINE accounts and bought stickers and themes, etc. Should get their deleted LINE account restored because of all of those stickers and themes we spent on, would be sad :/ Or just restore the line accounts that been deleted and keep the friends we have there including things we bought. I think that‘d be good cause sometimes users just accidentally deleted their accounts and now they can‘t get it back. I‘d really like that if they have an option or at least email LINE developers about it.
Horrible Support

This is a great and fun communication app, especially if you have friends in Japan, where it is widely used. However, the customer support is atrocious. I’ve had an issue with LINE on my iPad for mo this. That is, every time I open the app first thing in the morning, it asks for my account credentials. Every day I have to re-enter my user name and password. I’ve submitted the issue to tech support, but I’m convinced a human being never sees any of my submissions. I constantly get the same canned response, none of which solves the problem. Also, the response emails come from a “do not reply” email address so you cannot carry on a “conversation“ with their support. You have to constantly restart a new submission. It is impossible to get personalized help. I’ve given up on getting my issue but I’m forced to use the app because I have so many contacts in Japan who use the app.

This has been my favourite chat app for many years now. So impressed have I been with it that I recommend it to nearly everyone I meet who uses social media. Its easy to use, has a simple layout, and yet is packed full of features that make it a ‘must have’ app for anyone who chats online. BUT!! For the first time the latest update has taken the app in a backwards direction. It has always been a great benefit to be able to open the app when offline and read any messages that may have downloaded while online or compose a message to be sent when you have WiFi once again....or indeed just to read through a previous conversation or look at posts. It seems that with the latest update you can no longer open the app at all when not online as your access is blocked by an error message with a retry button. Please fix this, it’s a huge mistake to do this. We need to be able to read our conversations when offline as well as online. I have spent a lot of time promoting Line to people, I don’t want to have to move to another platform that allows offline access. Thank you

Line is absolutely incredible. I’m someone who literally HATES texting, but, Line makes it fun what with all their stickers available. The various options for chats and even private messages are awesome. Line will always top any other messaging service, even the stock iMessage. The only complaint I have is a slightly petty one, please, please, please, update for the new iPhone X screen. It’s so annoying to have the top and bottom cut off. Other than that, this app is perfect. Don’t listen to these other dumb reviews that give it one or two stars for a single flaw that’s just a petty annoyance.
Sticker suggestion not working

Line app is convenient allowing me to connect with my friends and family. It has many sticker options to use (used to have more free ones but now more just in-app purchase). Been having many issues with sticker suggestion not working throughout the whole time I’m using the app. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t, making it kinda annoying... Now after multiple updates it just still isn’t working at all no matter what I do (turning digestion on and off, restart app, deleting the language and redownloading) ... I have hundreds of stickers and it’s impossible to search through them one by one when I’m chatting ... huge disappointment
Best when used in Japan

This app is actually incredible in Japan. Awesome job fast with wifi or mobile. Good for talk video or audio no static crap. It’s not so good for the Apple Watch limited responses but you can use audio to tell Siri. I will admit this app does have its short comings in the US. Using it on a tablet or computer apps just doesn’t work it’s a cellphone app nothing more. But it’s free and fast so in japan if you don’t want to get a cellphone plan just add people on line and use wifi you can’t fail. They also have a cellphone plan which I have for $42 in japan great service and app works the same no difference.
Constant large updates is beyond annoying

I only use Line to keep in touch with family overseas. If not for that, I would gladly delete the app. The developers keep rolling out updates, not necessarily to fix bugs or improve the user experience, but to add crap like stickers and other commercial products. The updates are often in the 125+mb range, even as today’s update exceeded 200mb! As an adult, I don’t give a flying fart about stickers or any of the other crap in Line other than the capability of communicating instantaneously with others. As such, I have no need nor desire to waste my allotted monthly data allowance on crap I neither need nor want. Unless you absolutely need Line for some reason, do yourself a favor and give a hard pass on this app.
Green stuff...

Line is a great app but.. one problem... random green chunks are appearing everywhere, for me and my friend!, I was watching a video the one of my friends sent, but there was a green Block taking 3/4 of the screen!, and my friend and me are chatting on video call, but when he opened his camera, there was a green block (again) but this time it was taking all of the screen!!, and he can see it to! so I’m hoping u are going to fix that, thx. P.S. : and it wasn’t my friend Device that wasn’t working well, it was Line that wasn’t working, even after even after he did a shut down, it still was there...
Privacy concern

This app is suggesting a wide range of friends to me ranging from a bad ex-employee to work acquaintances to people from hobbies I'm connected to only on Facebook. It is possible they extrapolated my connection to them through the degrees of separation, but I'm left with the lingering question of whether they've accessed my Facebook app without my permission. There are people I want no personal connection to outside of work, and this makes it awkward. I feel my privacy has been invaded and I'm creeped out. People can find their own friends. Digging through their contacts and suggesting them is obtrusive and annoying. I do not want companies uploading information from my phone and using it to interfere in who I connect with. Nothing in your terms of service suggests users might be subjected to that.
The Most Stable and Useful Version in Years

For the first time in 6 odd years, all of my versions of line—mobile, tablet, and desktop— are functional. Slowly but surely, the tablet version is getting more features, most recently, the ability to secure the app and authenticate it biometrically. It’s awesome! The auto-play feature for gifs as well as sticker suggestions are available and functional on all my devices. Even the camera is starting to make sense, a miracle in and of itself. However, because this is line, there’s always a trade off. I’ve had several crashes on my desktop recently and experience camera issues when I’m making video calls. Once again, scaling on Xr has gone wonky. But only in the timeline amazingly enough. If the dev could somehow get us to a unified version of line where the experience is virtually the same (within reason) everywhere, I think many of us would be thrilled to say the least. Great job, dev!

i moved to another country & i need to change the phone number in my account line ... i need to change it to my new phone number. but the problem is i can't, i can't because the phone number in my Line account is Bahraini number which is no longer mine/exist. & the new number is Saudi number, my new phone number, the one & only i have now & use it & it's mine. plz I don't want to lose my account, my friends list, my memories in it, plz help, plz fix this problem plz fix it fast... plz fix it now plzzz
No auto-backup

LINE is an amazing app. Everything is easy to use, high quality. Recently, I had to delete the app and re-download it due to problems with the app repeatedly crashing (also an annoying bug). When i re-downloaded it, I found that because i hadn’t backed up my data, everything was gone. All my messages. All my pictures and videos. All my stickers, i even had to download my stickers again. It’s so stupid that LINE doesn’t auto-backup straight from opening the app. You have to go into the settings, and setup a horrible auto-backup system. Just because of this and how angered I am, I will take off two stars.
Problem after update

I couldn't type messages right away before on the text messages. I've to go to + button in order to type it. Then when I just update become worst! I can't even open the app! It said like I have to wait for a moment while they install the update and I can't turn off my device, but after I wait...wait...and wait for a long time (few times already), and even after I soft reset my phone, still I get the same message as before and my app can't open even though I still get some notification whenever my friends send message for me. Please fix it. I still love my app and my cute stickers.

Watch who you friend and invite to your chats it will archive all posts, pictures and data it can. But so can everyone else the difference imo is what purpose this data collection is used for gathered under nefarious disguise of an actual living person but in actuality is a program. Without asking for consent as all apps do i feel the line developers should tag or force all bot creators to clearly state when entering a group chat a bot is present and will store and monitor all communications for future financial gain.

The app was okay for the two days I had it, but then my account was blocked for no reason. I tried to reach out to customer service who could not give me a reason. Upon further attempts to reach out, I was ignored. Terrible customer service.

Loved this app and have both iPhone and iPad version. The iPhone version is great but in an update, the iPad version no longer offers filters or faces. That was part of the fun! Deducted a star for the iPad version. Please include filters, background and faces for iPad version! Great speaking to groups both domestically and internationally!

I changed a new phone but forgot my password. Following the ‘forgot the password’ steps, changing password then signing in with it, I always got ‘ wrong password’ response. I checked new password again and again, am pretty sure the password was correct and sent emails back and forth to the customer service, explained the issue several times, but it seemed they always responded like robots, they ended up saying they could not fix the issue. Very disappointed.

Just bought new iPhone and transferred all my old phone data to new iPhone with no problems. Now I can receive calls, texts and video calls with no problems BUT I cannot call, text, or video call anyone!!! All settings appear ok. So what gives? Love the app for its versatility but with these problems , I‘ll probably drop it and go to Viber or whatever

One day, I had a friend over and we didn’t have contact with each other, except roblox (which you should totally download) which had tags and had more stuff to deal with. But LINE, LINE is just awesome. She told me about this app that had cool filters, texting stickers, and more! This is what I use to text almost all of my friends! Can't keep my theme in place and I have to manually update those. Deletes media content without informing me or asking me if I'd like to keep it first. Doesn't notify me of messages randomly and without warning. Occasionally blocks Face ID to unlock. Cannot ever find people by username, I have to use links from social media pages to follow artists and designers I like. Doesn't EVER seem to remember my settings. Pinned conversations don't load in the proper order expected or shuffle around based on most recent messages. Honestly? Please stop adding features and focus on stability. I've had one friend locked out of LINE for 3 years now. :|

Please let us rearrange our stickers again and remove what we don’t use. It’s frustrating to matter how many times I rearrange or delete them they keep coming back and won’t stay sorted the way I want it to. :( Please also let us bulk delete stickers instead of one at a time. Apart from that this app is really great. Have been using it for many years now. Will update review and rating to more positive once this sticker problem has been addressed. Thank you!

I’ve used this app for many years; it’s arguably as good as the iMessage app, if not better mostly for how customizable it is. From buying themes and stickers off the store to even making your own; I love the creative freedom the app has just for what’s on the screen. My one gripe is that once you buy stickers and themes, you can uninstall them from your phone; but you can’t delete them permanently off your account. I personally would want to get rid of stickers I don’t use or get rid of themes I don’t want permanently off my account.

Thereafter its recent considerably large update that had rendered a different UI look to Line, as well as other “performance tweaks” and what not, this app starkly contrasts its previous versions which were much better than its current one; server-wise and performance-wise too. It’s laggy, glitchy and frequently doesn’t deliver the call notifications that I get from my GF. Not to mention issues of latency during calls. Whatever you did to this app, undo it. I’ve been a longtime user of this app and it’s frustrating to see it’s behaving as such.

Originally I used a Chinese number to register LINE and everything works fine, till I recently update my phone and thought my old number would works as usual. However, when I tried to log in, I couldn’t receive the validation code. I’ve emailed the customer team and their response was very robotic and unhelpful. So I cannot log back in even tho I have the password and registered email and have lost all my contacts and purchased emojis in LINE. Great! 🙃🙃🙃

Warning. If you ever upgrade your phone you wont be able to log back in to your account unless you link it to Facebook or your Apple ID apparently ..... having log in info isnt good enough even though every other app can allow you to log back into your account on a new device. This is the only app ive ever had this problem with and not sure why the maker chooses to do this. Be warned. This is garbage.......

I updated mid-day, but now my OpenChat messages won’t appear. In the message preview and icon for new messages, I can see there are new ones. When I open the OpenChat group, I can only see the ones from before the update. I’ve force quit and restarted LINE but it didn’t help at all.

So I email them they responded with them telling me I violated the guidelines and unlawful thing. So I have a few friends that use this. Mainly to discuss games we play and strategies, for some reason it never let me send a message, I could only view what everyone was saying. I wrote to them and asked for help, they literally wrote me saying that I had been banned for giving info out?????? How is that even possible? No one could ever see what I wrote so how did that happen?? While line is typically a good way for communicating with people, and has many good aspects, there is nothing more infuriating to me than how they think it’s a good idea to delete every single conversation or chat just because you sign in on a second device. I bought a new iPad, thought it might be cool to have line one it. Nope. What does Line think? Automatically deleting all of my chat history on my iPhone, the device that I carry with me at all times? This makes no sense, and is the dumbest feature about line. I have a line account for a reason, why do they think I want all of my chats deleted just because I sign in on a second account? Not happy, and many lost conversations.
If you can’t get the verification code there is no hope.

Sadly after 2 years of using the app it started to have issues, after reinstalling I was unable to get the verification code and they are not customer friendly AT ALL. provide little to no help is resolving you issue unless a sorry excuse is what you are looking for.

Absolutely horrible. So many error messages. And it seems so arbitrary. One minute I can access my chats, the next, there is “an unexpected error occurred” message. Good luck verifying phone numbers and setting your line ID. Freeze and crash. This app is freaking ridiculous. Like a bunch of kids set it up as a school project and they didn’t care if Mr. Rogers gave them an F. All they cared about was the assignment was turned in. Because who cares? Spring break is coming up. That’s the level of professionalism that’s in this app. Disgusting. Switched to another app completely. That meant over 20 employees and coworkers switched. Every. Single. One. Had the same issues. Lost our business. Fix this. It was too promising to be true..

I can’t get back my account since my phone was broken and no way to receive the verification code while trying to login with the new phone. Once I contacted Line customer service, they just said I have to create a new account if my previous phone was broken. This doesn’t make sense for this case. There are many social apps and only Line has such weird limitation. I lost many social groups and friends in Line account. I won’t trust and use Line anymore.

So I contacted line Customer Service and they are not able to assist me, this is what they wrote: Thank you for contacting LINE Customer Care. Latest update as of 1/19/21 has caused notification previews to completely remove the message. It now says “you have a new message from -insert person tagging here-“ Or “you have new messages in -insert specific group name here-“ as before you would actually see a brief part of the actual message that you were tagged in, or that notified you. The new “private” notifications is not helpful, and should have the setting to turn it on/off but does not. Please fix this issue.

Upgraded my iphone and line requires a code to be sent to my previous device despite my ability to pass 2 factor authentication protocols. Previous device doesn’t exist (got a new phone and traded in the old one), meaning I’m forced to set up a new account - lose my previous contacts, groups, and settings. Really poor service model.

TL;DR: Upon downloading LINE, my number was suspended within 10 minutes and I wasn’t given any explanation when I reached out to their help center. I downloaded this app for the first time yesterday thinking this was the app to more efficiently message with friends I’ve made on a video game. I attempted to create a group chat and was immediately given an error message, which I found strange because my other friend told me they were able to create one (his first time). No big deal, I’ll just join that one, but when I attempted to create a username so that I could be found in the search tab, nothing would happen. I tried this for a couple a minutes and decided to just re-install the app. However, when I attempted to login with my phone number I received a notice saying that my phone number was temporarily blocked?!?! At this point, I’m incredibly annoyed at how this could even be possible... I JUST DOWNLOADED IT 15min ago at this point and literally everything that could have gone wrong in using this app already has. So, I contact support only for them to get back to me later on the day (at least they have that going for them?) to tell me that I’ve been banned for one of several reasons illegal or inappropriate reasons, NONE of which I did considering that I didn’t even manage to create a username before being suspended. I don’t know when they’re going to lift the suspension, but that’s hardly relevant I’ll simply use something that’s actually competent. Nonetheless, how is something like this even possible?! I’d give this garbage app 0 stars for wasting my time if possible.

My mom used this to connect with her friends and play tsum tsum. She does not have a cell phone and no longer can connect to line. I never personally liked this app, and now really hate it. It’s very useless for connecting with people and the developers don’t think outside the box, if you want more people to sign up do not tie it to a cell phone.

Every time I start or continue a chat I'm always asked about LINE wants access to my photos. Every single time. After so many bug fixes how do they continue to ignore this one? It's been updated many times already since this bug started and it's still happening and it's quite annoying. Every other app I use that requests photo access has never had this issue. One of the problems with this app is that if you haven’t used it in awhile it is very hard to reactivate the account. I’ve tried many times and I can’t get past the phone number. I can’t cancel my old account. I like line but they make it real hard to use.

No real support you get automated messages and questionnaires then generic messages which are no help at all. I wasn’t even responded to and have no idea if my account or phone number was blocked or banned when I didn’t use this app in almost 4 years. Keeps getting stuck on the search page. I cant get back into the app no matter what I do. Something majorly wrong with the way this app is pairing with iPhone 12 mini. Have updated IOS. normally the only reason i use line is because of its excellent call quality, but recently after me and my boyfriend both downloaded the newest update, the quality has gone down significantly. the sound is tinny and often sounds like it is glitching. this hasnt been the case for years and years of using this app, but all of a sudden it sounds no better than any other app i use to make calls. i really hope this gets fixed after another update because its unbearable after having that level of clarity for so long.

I got a new phone and passed my old one to my son after finishing backup. But then figured that I have to have my old device to transfer my account, which is a hard lesson I learned. I reached out to customer service for help and let them know that I created my line account using Facebook, but was told that they can’t find my registered email address. I think they changed the rule and requires to have either a registered email or phone number, but I’m paying the price for their changes. Be careful, if your old device broke and you created the account using Facebook, you’ll never get your account back!

Not being able to transfer line history between Android and iOS and not being able to recover your account if you lose access to your phone number make this app essentially pointless and unusable. Ive always known LINE as "that instant messenger that Japanese people used", so i was a tad surprised upon installing and acquainting myself with it that its more like a mini-social-media platform than a messenger. Much like how YAHOO Japan became more than just an email client and more of a "hub of everything", LINE follows the do-it-all SNS trend of having apps "inside" the app, like photo editing, games, news, and more. I day "inside" because although they appear part of the package, you must install most of them separately, and i imagine using them is more along the lines of "tapping on the tab takes me to the app", thus these "features" are more like advertisements to other apps the LINE company runs. Like grocery stores, these companies would rather you be their one-stop-shop, to the detriment of users who dont largely get any benefit from the siloing while getting the detriment f a bloated, dense interface that is trying to flag your attention on the daily with bright red dots, merely to remind you that "hey! did you know these features are still here? you should use them!" Cant turn that off. Since i dont use these other SNS aspects minus the sticker store once (something most messengers have, but LINE stands out by allowing sticker-makers to make money off their goods, which is nice, but surprisingly doesnt increase the quality of stickers), i will go on to review just the messaging section, service, and user interface of the app. I will be comparing it against Telegram, the gold standard in "messaging done right". My phone is an original iPhone SE. The LINE app itself is a bit on the slow side, most noticeably laggy on switching tabs, and very slow to start-up. I see they have discarded their nice default theme of green, black, and pleasing neutrals to eye-punching flat white and flat black, like many trendy apps this month, but luckily you have two free additional character-based themes to choose from that are easy and the eye and add some fun detail to the otherwise boring, insane-asylum padded-room interface. LINE doesnt automatically backup your chats and contacts unless you "register" with an email, which i found out several days in when a popup asked if i wanted to backup, which was probably informed of during the beginning and missed due to how odd it is for a messaging service to require a phone verify yet not use that as a registration identifier. I would rather the service allow this "feature" up front or require me to choose a unique handle like Telegram than require email. Messaging service is reliable for the most part (except in the period between when i uninstalled and reinstalled, when i apparently was sent messages and never received them and neither party was notified of this), complete with "Read" and the animated ellipsis that signifies typing, neither of which i believe are configurable. Settings are pretty scant in general, yet the app footprint is quite large, and like many apps, accumulating "document and media storage" as visible in the iPhone storage Settings tab is not clearable without an uninstall, and can get significantly large. Custom emojis are cute and very well done, but im missing colon shortcuts. Photo editing with stamps before sending is rudimentary but surprisingly nice, although this is unfortunately the only way to send a caption alonside a photo. Long-press message options are bloated but the essentials like replying are there. All in all, LINE messaging gets the job done, but its not as smooth and streamlined as it could be. If youre looking for a new mainstay messenger + service, use Telegram while its still good. But if youre looking to connect with your Japanese friends (or anyone in Japan benefitting from free provider data usage in conjunction with LINE...), you will find that your stay is comfortable, in a discount "fancy" hotel sort-of-way.

Using the iPhone 12 and 12pro to share video in chat, video color is pale and yellowish. Same issue when uploading/sharing shot by the native iPhone camera app videos as well as using the Line camera. No filter was applied.

I’ve been using line for a while and I loved it before, but then I got a new phone and it told me I needed to get a passcode from my previous device to keep my old account. Obviously I don’t have access to my previous device and now it’s making me make a new account. This app is the only way I’m able to see my work schedule and get announcements from work. Now I’m going to have to make a whole new account and have them re-add me to everything. Upset.

I use Line to chat and have video and audio calls with loved ones on the other side of the world. Line has good privacy: 1. You can choose a username (a "Line ID") to share with people instead of your phone number. (This ID can't be changed later, so be careful, but you don't have to choose it right away either.) 2. Line does not reveal when you are online. 3. Line does not show others the time at which you read your messages. (The "read receipts" in Apple's Messages app, when turned on, does reveal this information, which in turn can tell other people more than you want them to know.) 4. Line has encryption for messages (called "letter sealing"); it "only works in chats where all members have enabled it" (but, as I recall, this is turned on by default). Line has a few issues: • There's no way (that I can find) to send feedback except via App Store reviews. (Which is the only reason I include the next item here.) • The new Share interface (in version 9.18.0) ignores my text-size settings (both those for Line and those in iOS's Settings) and shows everything in a tiny font, which is significant problem for me. It also requires that you choose a recipient before you can compose a message to accompany what you are sharing. Previously, being able to leave the recipient blank, so that my message could not accidentally be sent before I'd finished composing and correcting it, saved me from embarrassment many times, so I hope the devs restore this ability. • VoiceOver support is poor. (I deducted one star for this.) Sometimes the VO cursor cannot be advanced, sometimes it reads irrelevant content (e.g. when I open a context menu for a chat, VO reads the chat instead of the menu). At least one interface control (the audio-recording button) uses VO give instructions on how to use VO! (Line Corp, you need to support ALL people who rely on your app, full stop.) Two problems I experience may be caused by network issues beyond Line's control, so I want to be careful in mentioning them: • Frequently my attempts to call from the U.S. to Thailand fail: I will hear ringing but the recipient hears and sees nothing; after several rings I get a "no answer" message while the other person gets a "missed call" message. Fortunately the person in Thailand can call me. (When I want to initiate a call, I text a request and the other person calls me, but if such an arrangement is not suitable for your purposes this could be a serious obstacle.) • I sometimes experience lags in the audio portion of video calls from the U.S. to Thailand. Again, this affects one direction only. (I hear audio with a delay that ranges from several seconds to a minute or more and tends to increase during the call, while my companion hears me in real time.) Audio-only calls nearly always work fine. Tips and last thoughts: Regarding photos and videos: To save an item to Photos with the date and time it was sent, rather than the date you saved it, choose "Share in other app" and then, in the iOS share sheet, "Save to files". From there you can save the items to the Photos app. (You can also save an item directly from Line to Photos but its original send date will not be preserved.) In any case, if an item is important you should not wait very long to save it: many items remain available to download for a long time, but some don't. Line is pleasant to use. The calls are free, the privacy is good, and they don't bombard us with ads, so I recommend to reward this company by purchasing some stickers now and then, which expand your ability to be expressive in chat. Some really nifty ones are available. (The "Katsushita Nyanko on the Move" set is among the best.)

So I’d say Line is like the best thing that has ever happened to me since I’m not allowed to have a social media account. It’s easy to use, I can stay in touch with all my friends and family who have the app themselves, and hey, who doesn’t like personalization?! Line allows you to personalize your app so it’s looks are to your liking and you can even add in some stickers. On that note, let me just say. LINE POINTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET. You NEED Line points to get those personalized themes and stickers. You NEED Line points for your Line to not be boring. But there’s like NO WAY for you to get Line points. Of course there is the option of “follow the Line Points account for free Line points”. I tried and then realized that there is an EXPIRATION date to how long your point activation lasts. And this can only be done ONCE. What’s worse? They only give you 5. It says 20! What can you do with 5 points? It’s pretty much like “I’ll give you 20 points but I didn’t feel like it so I’ll give you 5”. There is no system where you can accumulate more points over time which I think is needed. The only way to get points is from gift cards or hacking. And we all know you don’t want any of your personal info to be leaked right?

LINE is a great messaging app in my opinion for if you don't want to continue using the same old boring messaging app (no offense ;)) The fact that you can actually personalize chats is really cool so you can make it look how ever you want it to look like. Also that you can post things and edit your account so you don't have just one boring messaging app. This feauture helps others socialize not just by texting but also by looking at their daily life and favorites in a more fun way! I also really like the fact that LINE also made games associated with LINE so you could also have something fun to do if you're bored of texting and want to show off your gaming skills! I've heard of this app long before too, tried it, and also had great results! This isn't really a negative thing but I wish when you chat with official accounts they don't repeat the same thing(s) and that you can actually message them because of course no one would like to keep getting the same message(s) it would be very irritating! Overall though this app is great and I recommend it for those who want to socialize with others in a more cuter way. Download it and try LINE for yourself!

I’ve been using Line since 2012 and it’s my #1 SNS app to chat with my friends I prefer it vastly over Whatsapp (which I only use with my family). Also since I moved back home last April I was relieved to transfer my account to my new number and see everything was left as if I’ve never changed my number, my chat history was there and all even my photos! However it might’ve been changed recently or I haven’t noticed but do you guys remember we could follow Official Accounts from other parts of the world? That’s how I came across Gackt, Flumpool and Uverworld etc (I’ve already been a fan of them I was just happy to find their Line accounts and announcements!) and right now as I was checking to see if I could add more J-Rock bands’ accounts I saw that the ‘change region’ button on the Official Accounts interface disappeared? What’s up with that? I can’t see new accounts from Japan anymore! And honestly the ones from my home country Ecuador are...nothing exciting...therefore could Line bring that back?? Please? Otherwise you would’ve gotten fully 5✨’s from me...

I havent felt the need to complain about this app cause ive loved it since it came out but im supper dissapointed that whenever you guy’s launch cool free stickers, Im not able to download cause probably the region or whatever which is super unffair cause now you guy’s launch free Brawl Stars line stickers and the worst feeling ever not being able to download them whatsoever. That’s just not right. I remember when there would be free stickers once in a while and id get them, ive even put some money into this app cause i love the stickers but its super dissapointing that i can’t even download the stickers of my favorite game app.. it’s just really wrong.. You guy’s should be fair and if it’s free, let it be on every region that people do use the app cause im from the US and now im in NL but i still use my US acc so i just dont understand why i can’t download it...its really messed up. I got all happy when i saw the pop up of the stickers hoping id be able to get them and nope..i got my hopes up for nothing..not right guy’s not right at all. You should go back to how it was when you’s would let everyone download the free stickers for a limited time when you’s announce it’s free. Shoot just heartbroken by this..

Ok so, first of all Line is my favourite texting app and I’ve been using it for YEARS. I’ve had no problems with it up until like 5 minutes ago. It was working fine since I was able to chat and video call with my friends about an hour ago. I hung up and left the app and I was going back and I went to the chats place and it’s just showing me a loading circle and nothing happening. When I press anything nothing works and the app just closes itself and takes me to my Home Screen. My friend sent me a message that she is having the same problem with line. I was thinking of deleting it and reinstalling it but that would mean I lose all my texts and data on it. My friend said she restarted her phone but the problem was still there. Please fix this cuz I don’t want to lose anything. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME AND PLEASE FIX THIS 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. I can’t even back up the messages since it won’t let me do anything on the app. The page is just frozen and just keeps loading. That’s all and I’m so stressed from this.

It’s a really good app and has quite a few good features, but the LINE points promotions aren’t working for me? I have yet to see any promotions on the page, and it’s frustrating me because there seems to be no other way to get points. The help menus continually tell me to register a phone number to get points whenever I search for a possible solution, but I already have. I don’t know what kind of issue this is or if it can be fixed but I’d like it to be resolved. On a different note, when you type in a chat, related stickers pop up with certain words (like the word can has stickers of tin cans), and while that’s sometimes helpful, it also somewhat frustrates me. When you chose a sticker, it replaces the related word (it highlights the word so you know which one it’s referencing, thankfully). Another thing is that the thing that pops up with the stickers blocks you from seeing the chat if you want to read what someone else sent as you’re typing.

I cannot believe how careless the creators can be! They have updated the app, yes! But not the help articles! I just changed my country and wasn’t able to log in! First thing, they don’t have customer support service. It is very non-professional. If their customer are trying to get help there is no body they can email/call. Now you can only login via number and fb. I didn’t have my Facebook linked and since I changed the country, I wasn’t able to get any text. They should have provided the option with the email. Also, a new account was made when i tried to sign in using my current number and i put my old email. The instructions from app told me to reinstall and select the option “existing user” and guess what? There was no option! How can you update the app but your manual for customers is for old versions!! Is this a way you are trying to make money? Because all those expensive stickers can just be gone? This is seriously unbelievable! Now i am not able to change my phone number because it is stuck to the same country I had before. They really need to work on their app and make it easily usable for everyone!

This app is fantastic. I can call home while I’m living abroad in Japan for free. I’ve used this app for years as my main source of online communication with family and friends in and out of the country :) BUT I have one problem with it, as of recently. If anyone can shed light on this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Ever since updating Line about a week ago, I have not been receiving call/missed call notifications.. like a call screen on the lock screen. It’s kinda hard to explain but when I open the app is only when I notice I have a missed call, like hours later! Anybody have the same issue with this or some tips/advice? Thank you!

Over the 2 years I’ve been using LINE now I have liked it better than other chat apps, however, whenever I switch phones and try to log In it tells me that either my email or password is unrecognizable. So I tap the forgot password link and enter my email to reset it. BUT! LINE has no record of my email ever existing?!? 🤬 twice now it has done this. I’ve had the same and ONLY email for 15 years. Used it both times to open new accounts so I could chat with my buddies halfway across the world but I swear. One of my games has switched to discord over these issues and if the other one does I’m dropping line completely. Listen to me, you are losing customers over stupid issues. This is neither a new problem nor a complicated problem. I already refuse to spend money on your app anymore where I used to buy stickers left right now I am considering dropping you completely as have many that I know over these very simple and yet continually ignored problems. Fix your house LINE Or soon you’ll find you have no customers at all

I’ve been using this app on and off for almost 5 years, one of my favorite features has always been the ability to swipe to see chat albums and chat notes, it made everything so simple and comprehensive, as notes have always been very important in the chats I am in. Unfortunately, the newest update removes that feature to favor a “swipe to reply” system, which I have found to be completely unnecessary and rather frustrating to use. Nearly nobody that I know ever even uses the reply feature, all important inquiries are usually found in notes, which were once easily accessible with just a swipe. Additionally, any “replies” to inquiries made in chat would just be responses to the conversation, you know, like how normal people talk. The unique feature of even having notes is what drew me to Line in the first place, and making it more difficult to reach those notes really discourages me from using the app. This update got rid of the most important aspect of Line, and will prevent me from using their services in the future.

I've been using line for about a year. There's really a few things I really can't stand. There's so many stickers and there's no way I am scrolling for 60 hours to see them all - they need to categorize them better and make it easier to find the ones you want. I was looking for a set of stickers and finally just gave up even though I know it was there. Second thing is your stickers and everything else you bought needs to transfer to all your devices with just your phone number because I don't want to make an account, I'm sick of making accounts for everything, a phone number with a pin should be enough. Cause I just lost $30 worth of stuff. Also come on, 600 MILLION users and no way to meet new people. There are no chatrooms or groups you can join to meet new people. It’s all by invite/you have to know them already. I want the ability to meet NEW people by joining groups or chatrooms.

So earlier today I was on my iPod but had to run an errand so to stay in touch I got the app on my phone. What the heck is the point of me having to log in and etc if you just DELETE all my chat info anyway. I don't know any other kind of social app that doesn't keep msg data if logging in with the same acc. The chat back up is cool but that shouldn't be necessary to not lose chat info, or make it so it does that automatically. Apple products have automatic back up, you guys should do the same. I mean frankly I'm vexed right now but that doesn't change the fact this is an issue you guys should work on. Also stop getting rid of free stickers you guys have had forever (years). When you take away from what you have, you just make yourself less valuable. I joke fight my friends because they prefer Discord over this and honestly I can’t blame them. Stop taking away from the little you have to compete with. Oh and I’ve bought stickers through the years, so I’m a customer, not just a free-loading opinion.

***changing my review to 1 star because I’m tired of logging in over and over on my iPad. FIX YOUR APP!!!! I have spent over $40 on stickers and have used this app for over 3 years. Here are my complaints: As others have noted, stickers that used to show up as suggestions DISAPPEAR until you delete and re-download the sticker set. Lousy way to sort sticker sets. I have 90+ sticker sets and sorting them manually one by one using the cumbersome tool literally take 20 minutes. No way to assign your own stickers a text shortcut so they will pop up as suggestion. Seriously, it’s been years already and this is an incredibly basic feature. iPad app doesn’t log you in automatically like the iPhone version. Seriously? It doesn’t even have option to remember th email address\username either? No way to synchronize chat history across iOS devices? Really? Even aol instant messenger has this basic feature. Sticker packs completely disappear sometimes. I know for a FACT I have purchased and used the stickers from the sticker set, have chat history to prove it. But it disappeared from my list of purchased stickers with an option to purchase again? Lame. This is overall a great app, so I will give 2 stars instead of 1 but you seriously need to fix the bugs and provide the basic features. Especially the stickers disappearing until you redownload them. Not everyone wants to go through your insanely clumsy sticker sorting process over and over.

My boyfriend and I love to use LINE for its stickers! It’s the only app we use to message each other, and there’s so many stickers to choose from. I admit I’ve spent more on stickers than I should have, but I can’t help it!! They’re too cute! I do wish that there weren’t region locked stickers... I recently bought an Apple Watch and am very disappointed in the watch app... Not being able to view read messages has really gotten annoying, because I tend to send stickers and respond. Also, not being able to use scribble has made it difficult for me to reply to any messages at work. Another issue is the fact that I cannot use the stickers I paid for. Understandably it may take some time to be able to configure it to share the stickers, but I would love to at least be able to choose a set that I can use... the default ones aren’t exactly my favorite.. I hope one day they will be able to update it but as of now I’m stuck using KakaoTalk if I want to message friends via my Watch.

I’ve been using Line with my family and some friends for a while and it’s worked nicely, especially when we’re connecting from abroad. The emojis and filters are fun for messaging. The messaging features have worked really well consistently. Unfortunately, the app stopped working with my phone’s notification features so it doesn’t ring or display a banner for Line calls the way it did before. I’ve checked my settings in both the app itself and on my phone, and have tried deleting then reloading the app as well. None of that resolved the issue. Now today, I received a Line notification banner and ring from the last Line user who called me via the app but the call was actually a regular iPhone call from someone who isn’t a Line user at all. (I never received a notification from the Line caller.) Looks like my app version is up to date. What gives, Line developers?

Not sure how this subpar app with absolutely no helpful customer service took over all of Japan, but it’s been a frustrating run with this thing. I’m currently completely unable to log in on my phone, so I tried the desktop app, which is impossible to log in to....without your phone? Isn’t that pretty illogical? I would imagine that using the desktop version would be a telltale sign that the phone app isn’t working. So now I have zero contact with all my Japanese friends I met during study abroad. Not only that, but before I got logged out, it inexplicably just stopped delivering my messages for three months. What’s that all about? Everyone thought I was reading their messages but just being a schlub and not responding. This app is subpar at best when it’s working, and just a nightmare when you need help. Send an email to the support line and you’ll get a completely automated response, with no option to talk to a human. At a loss for what to do about this. Meet new friends I guess?

Update: I’ve been using Line for years, but I don’t like it as much as I used to. First, the spam problem is out of control, I constantly get added and messaged by fake accounts and Line seems to have no way to address it. And second, when friends add you they show up in a tiny screen all mixed together with the spam adds and recommended friends. It’s so easy to miss the initial request, and then later have no idea who is a real friend or not, so I allow non-friends to send me messages. Which of course contributes to the spam problem. Line needs a clean way of dealing with friend requests, like Facebook. Original: I just started using Line and now prefer it to Whatsapp, Viber, etc. I have had several int'l phone calls- even without wifi its super clear and of course free! The stickers are also cute and fun to use. I don't get nagged to log in like other people, lucky me I guess. Great app!

I don’t know why lots of people are giving bad reviews on this app. I haven’t had any issues. I love the animated stickers a lot as well as the animated stickers with sound. I would really like to see lots more Disney animated stickers with sound in the future, due to those being my favorite stickers to buy. And there is very good deals on token prices and really love that. I’m not much of a big spender but when I see something I really like and can get it for cheap I always go for it but still careful not to go to crazy at the same time lol. Thanks so much for this awesome app! I was very hesitant at first but had lots of people persuade me to get this app. So I downloaded it and haven’t stopped loving it since I downloaded it. Keep up the good work!!!! And I look forward to any new and exciting updates.

Out of all the messaging company apps and having been able to use all of them quite extensively, the verdict for me would be that Line is the most forward thinking and practical out of all of them. The things that Line offers really targets the global market unlike the others. WeChat only focuses on China, KakaoTalk is very much popular only in Korea, WhatsApp and Messenger are well, on targeted to US and European consumers because it’s hardly ever used in Asia. Line on the other hand has a very even consumer base and this is what stands out with them. They are a Japanese base company but targets the entire market which is always good. Their camera is also quite feature rich and very fun to use. It can practically replace the default camera app of the iPhone. Japan always gets it right, man.

Been using this app for years never had a problem until today. I downloaded line on my chrome book and when i signed in it booted me out of the app on my iPhone. When i logged back into my iPhone all of my chat history was gone. Years of messages that i didn't want to lose. I understand not being able to use it on two different devices at the same time but if it kicks you off it shouldn't delete everything. I googled the problem to see if there was a solution, but no there is not. Seems like a common problem and i wasn't the first it has happened to. You can backup your chat in the settings but it is too late for me now (also i shouldnt have to backup my history in the first place) This has never happened to me with any app before it needs to change. Hope the developers see this and do something about it. Fb messenger and discord do not have this problem. If changes are made ill change/edit my review.

I’ve been using the app for years now, it’s my #1 messaging app instead of iMessage because of the cute themes and stickers it has. Just recently, I’ve had problems when I reply on my lock screen on my phone, sometimes my messages don’t send at all. So I would have to log into my phone and then go into the app and reply again just for it to send. It’s quite the hassle and sometimes it does not notify me when I receive a message... I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app a few times and same issue occurs.. contacted customer support and it literally took them a week before answering back to me and made me take a survey and answer questions. I waited yet another week just to get a reply saying that it is a problem with my OS on my phone and told me to update to the latest IOS update. Which I already am on. I even went to apple and got a replacement phone and it’s still happening. Please look into it and fix this issue.

Okay to start off, I LOVE this app. It’s adorable and efficient and my friends and I have used it for years. I don’t usually leave reviews but I’m leaving one today because I have a suggestion and I can’t find a suggestion box or email or anything to leave it anywhere else. It’s a super simple suggestion, I just want to be able to see my own profile picture when sending messages. I can see everyone’s that I’m receiving in my group chat, I want to be able to see mine when I’m replying too. Maybe make it a feature you can turn on an off? I have wanted this for years and I’m finally trying to suggest it. I want to see my own chat icon in chat settings. PLEASE. I will give you my money! I just really want this.
Unimpressed with an unnecessary glitch

After one of the recent big updates, the quality of the app deteriorated in my opinion. While I can still receive videos and pictures, I can’t send any of my own. It takes over 30 minutes over resending before they finally go through, if they ever go through at all. I’ve used this app for over two years now and this is the first time I’ve had this issue, and it only came after an update. I’m without wifi in my current situation, but my other apps send and receive pictures and videos just find on my data so the problem isn’t caused by the lack of wifi. When I finally had a wifi connection a few days ago, the problem persisted. This is an in app issue that shouldn’t have been a problem to begin with. Whatever was changed that may have caused that shouldn’t have been changed at all.
Great app but a few bugs and glitches

I don’t understand why I am not able to use the app on my tablet and phone is the first programming error keeps wanting to delete my information and When I am on the go I use my phone but when I am home I use my tablet this issue needs to be fixed ASAP. The other issue I am having is that the photos I receive it won’t allow me to save them to my photo album on either device it just says loading and the spinning wheel of death just stays on the screen. I am also having issues with the program staying open and sending me updates of a new message being received have to periodically check to see if I have a new message. I am using all apple products and have most recent operating system iPhone XR and iPad Pro are the devices that I am using.

Overall a fantastic app, I much prefer it over discord. However, with the new update I've found it's much clunkier to type, and autocorrect doesn't seem to work nearly as well as before. I find that it takes much longer to type because of that which is annoying. I also don't like that it seems like I can't see as much on a line when I'm typing as before. One of the things I hate about the messaging for iPhones is how they set up the text bar with the photos and the like available right away, and I loved LINE since they didn't do that, but now that they've implemented a similar feature, I've found it very inconvenient. I did like that they changed where the microphone option was so if I want to send messages really fast I'm not missing the send button to accidentally press the mic button.

I love this app so much and it’s pretty much my only social media and I love all the features and little bunnies and bears. All I would like to add is to make the app more like SnapChat for the photos and time lines. Like maybe adding that dark line of text like in SnapChat because I think it’s superrrrr cute and retro and I think it’d be so cool if you could add like an add on to make your eye lashes longer. Because being a girl and using those filers don’t always look so good and I want my eye lashes to be more pronounced. And more filters like SnapChat. And I know I could just use Snapchat but I think I like this app better but I would just like better photo options. Otherwise great app thanks!

This is an amazing app! I use LINE every single day for incredibly fast and instant communication between friends, teammates, or other players on a “real-time” or “live” multiplayer game that i play. I am constantly engaged in and/or involved with multiple different group messages and single conversations and never had a problem. Cant think of a single complaint i have ever had. The only thing there is, the one and only thing that could possibly ever make this app any better then it already is, is this: (within group messages) From the very second you send a message in a group chat, your able to see how many people have read your message via the “read by” icon, followed by a number. That number is the actual number of people that have seen your message. That one thing to make this app better is to make the icon that shows the number of people your message has been “read by” a clickable button/link that brings up and shows who the actual people are that have read your message.

I’ve been using LINE app for iphone for years now and i never had a single problem with it, well not until i switched my phone to iPhoneX. Calls were working normally for a while until it suddenly gave the “microphone is not working” issue. First i thought it was the phone’s problem but i tried the phone on a normal call and it worked just fine. I thought maybe i should just restart? So i did restart, but still got the same error which is prohibiting me to start a call. I thought maybe i should just reinstall. So thats what i did, but still got the same error. I really dont know what to do and this app has been almost unusable for me. If there is an update requirement for the new iPhone hopefully it fixes this issue. If there is a fix i hope someone can help me with this. Until then i will rate it as i ser fit.

This is by far the best messaging app I’ve ever used! I haven’t had any difficulty with it on my iPhone 7+ and it makes your messaging experience extremely personalized. You can chose from a variety of stickers and you can even change your theme. There is also a function that lets you lock the app so it requires a password to keep your conversations private. Since I’ve used mainstream messaging apps so far it’s really nice to see so much variety and ways in which I can make this app personal to me. It makes the conversations on here personalized too so you feel like you are closer than just chatting with them other person/s
The "forgot password" system is awful

I used LINE a while ago and uninstalled. Just recently, I wanted to log in LINE Webtoon using my LINE account on my laptop since I had previously used my LINE account to log in and save comics. However, I forgot my password, and strangely, there wasn't any "forgot password" button on the laptop. The page only mentioned to use the app to ensure that logging in was enabled. I decided to redownload the app and see if it could be of any help, but when I tapped "forgot password," it told me to check my app settings to reset my password. I don't understand how I'm supposed to go to my app settings if I can't even log in. I googled for help, but I was unable to find anything of help. I'm not sure if I missed something, but if I didn't and this is truly how the forgot password system works, then I am appalled and flabbergasted. Please fix and improve this system if this is really how it works.
HD voice

The quality of the phone calls used to be stellar on this app its what got me to switch from skype to LINE however this recent update now offers an “HD Voice” that I cannot get on board with. Why the quotations? You may ask and the reasoning is simple there’s nothing HD about it. It’s more like some cheap equalizing trick that makes all phone calls sound like you’re communicating with two tin cans and a string. As far as I can tell the audio quality is a massive drop as to what it used to be, to the point that you can forget about having an understandable conversation while on speaker or at all if you’re using anything but earbuds DIRECTLY in your ear. Plainly put this new update might need to have this feature omitted or at the very least come with clear instructions as to how to turn it off. Not impressed and I stand by my 2/5 stars.
Worst customer service ever

The app for iPad is always left on the side. All the bugs are still going on and, the worst of all, if I exit the app by pressing the home screen and/or force quit, it automatically log out of my account. It’s extremely annoying to always do the login, especially if I change to safari to check a webpage (btw, don’t come with an update just fixing one of those mentioned problems, solve BOTH). I sent an email to the company and what i get in return is “If you enter in contact again we will take more time to solve your problem, dear costumer”. In other words “don’t bother us sending more emails cause we don’t care who you are and we don’t mind solving it”. I’ve been a loyal costumers for years on the iPhone app, music app and the physical store, but the company’s costumer service S*CKS and don’t care about the ones who support it. If I could rate this app minus ten stars, I’d gladly do so.

I thoroughly have enjoyed my time using this app. It's smooth and the stickers are my favorite. I own over twenty five sets. That said...I have one issue with the app. When the "unsend" feature was made available I thought it was great for those times you say something maybe you shouldn't have to someone. But it notifies them that you Unsent a message. So what is the point of unsending if they'll know you did so, which in turn will make them question and hound you over what you unsent? Please remove the "...unsent a message". It makes it pointless as they question you about what you said then you have to tell them.
Latest Update Ruined the App

Loved the app for years until the latest update. You used to be able to send voice messages via holding down a large button in the bottom middle of the screen. On the latest update, some genius decided the button should be much smaller and off to the right side. If you're right handed like most of the planet, forget trying to use the app for voice messaging. You will either: A) Have your thumb slip off the button from having to hold it in an awkward position. B) Drop your phone from having to hold it in an awkward position. C) Give up and use two hands which defeats the purpose of voice messaging to begin with. Fix your app and fire the genius who obviously didn't think this through. Why screw up a perfectly fine working app? Obviously some people are trying to justify having a job by "fixing" things that didn't need to be fixed.

I want to love Line. But since I started using the app to chat with friends in 2012, it’s always a terrible experience when it comes to managing my account. Including now in 2018! When I got a new phone I tried logging in to line and get a warning that I can’t be logged in to 2 devices and my old device’s chat history would be deleted. I forgot about that limitation, and of course don’t want that to happen so I quit the app and try to figure out how to back up my old app’s history. When I check my old phone it says my account is now in use by another device and proceeds to delete everything before I have the chance to backup my data! So I’ve lost all this year’s chat history for no good reason. How about a daily automatic backup? Or an option to allow multiple devices to save chat history? This is our data!
LINE accounts

There should be an option where line users who deleted their LINE accounts and bought stickers and themes, etc. Should get their deleted LINE account restored because of all of those stickers and themes we spent on, would be sad :/ Or just restore the line accounts that been deleted and keep the friends we have there including things we bought. I think that‘d be good cause sometimes users just accidentally deleted their accounts and now they can‘t get it back. I‘d really like that if they have an option or at least email LINE developers about it.
Horrible Support

This is a great and fun communication app, especially if you have friends in Japan, where it is widely used. However, the customer support is atrocious. I’ve had an issue with LINE on my iPad for mo this. That is, every time I open the app first thing in the morning, it asks for my account credentials. Every day I have to re-enter my user name and password. I’ve submitted the issue to tech support, but I’m convinced a human being never sees any of my submissions. I constantly get the same canned response, none of which solves the problem. Also, the response emails come from a “do not reply” email address so you cannot carry on a “conversation“ with their support. You have to constantly restart a new submission. It is impossible to get personalized help. I’ve given up on getting my issue but I’m forced to use the app because I have so many contacts in Japan who use the app.

This has been my favourite chat app for many years now. So impressed have I been with it that I recommend it to nearly everyone I meet who uses social media. Its easy to use, has a simple layout, and yet is packed full of features that make it a ‘must have’ app for anyone who chats online. BUT!! For the first time the latest update has taken the app in a backwards direction. It has always been a great benefit to be able to open the app when offline and read any messages that may have downloaded while online or compose a message to be sent when you have WiFi once again....or indeed just to read through a previous conversation or look at posts. It seems that with the latest update you can no longer open the app at all when not online as your access is blocked by an error message with a retry button. Please fix this, it’s a huge mistake to do this. We need to be able to read our conversations when offline as well as online. I have spent a lot of time promoting Line to people, I don’t want to have to move to another platform that allows offline access. Thank you

Line is absolutely incredible. I’m someone who literally HATES texting, but, Line makes it fun what with all their stickers available. The various options for chats and even private messages are awesome. Line will always top any other messaging service, even the stock iMessage. The only complaint I have is a slightly petty one, please, please, please, update for the new iPhone X screen. It’s so annoying to have the top and bottom cut off. Other than that, this app is perfect. Don’t listen to these other dumb reviews that give it one or two stars for a single flaw that’s just a petty annoyance.
Sticker suggestion not working

Line app is convenient allowing me to connect with my friends and family. It has many sticker options to use (used to have more free ones but now more just in-app purchase). Been having many issues with sticker suggestion not working throughout the whole time I’m using the app. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t, making it kinda annoying... Now after multiple updates it just still isn’t working at all no matter what I do (turning digestion on and off, restart app, deleting the language and redownloading) ... I have hundreds of stickers and it’s impossible to search through them one by one when I’m chatting ... huge disappointment
Best when used in Japan

This app is actually incredible in Japan. Awesome job fast with wifi or mobile. Good for talk video or audio no static crap. It’s not so good for the Apple Watch limited responses but you can use audio to tell Siri. I will admit this app does have its short comings in the US. Using it on a tablet or computer apps just doesn’t work it’s a cellphone app nothing more. But it’s free and fast so in japan if you don’t want to get a cellphone plan just add people on line and use wifi you can’t fail. They also have a cellphone plan which I have for $42 in japan great service and app works the same no difference.
Constant large updates is beyond annoying

I only use Line to keep in touch with family overseas. If not for that, I would gladly delete the app. The developers keep rolling out updates, not necessarily to fix bugs or improve the user experience, but to add crap like stickers and other commercial products. The updates are often in the 125+mb range, even as today’s update exceeded 200mb! As an adult, I don’t give a flying fart about stickers or any of the other crap in Line other than the capability of communicating instantaneously with others. As such, I have no need nor desire to waste my allotted monthly data allowance on crap I neither need nor want. Unless you absolutely need Line for some reason, do yourself a favor and give a hard pass on this app.
Green stuff...

Line is a great app but.. one problem... random green chunks are appearing everywhere, for me and my friend!, I was watching a video the one of my friends sent, but there was a green Block taking 3/4 of the screen!, and my friend and me are chatting on video call, but when he opened his camera, there was a green block (again) but this time it was taking all of the screen!!, and he can see it to! so I’m hoping u are going to fix that, thx. P.S. : and it wasn’t my friend Device that wasn’t working well, it was Line that wasn’t working, even after even after he did a shut down, it still was there...
Privacy concern

This app is suggesting a wide range of friends to me ranging from a bad ex-employee to work acquaintances to people from hobbies I'm connected to only on Facebook. It is possible they extrapolated my connection to them through the degrees of separation, but I'm left with the lingering question of whether they've accessed my Facebook app without my permission. There are people I want no personal connection to outside of work, and this makes it awkward. I feel my privacy has been invaded and I'm creeped out. People can find their own friends. Digging through their contacts and suggesting them is obtrusive and annoying. I do not want companies uploading information from my phone and using it to interfere in who I connect with. Nothing in your terms of service suggests users might be subjected to that.
The Most Stable and Useful Version in Years

For the first time in 6 odd years, all of my versions of line—mobile, tablet, and desktop— are functional. Slowly but surely, the tablet version is getting more features, most recently, the ability to secure the app and authenticate it biometrically. It’s awesome! The auto-play feature for gifs as well as sticker suggestions are available and functional on all my devices. Even the camera is starting to make sense, a miracle in and of itself. However, because this is line, there’s always a trade off. I’ve had several crashes on my desktop recently and experience camera issues when I’m making video calls. Once again, scaling on Xr has gone wonky. But only in the timeline amazingly enough. If the dev could somehow get us to a unified version of line where the experience is virtually the same (within reason) everywhere, I think many of us would be thrilled to say the least. Great job, dev!

i moved to another country & i need to change the phone number in my account line ... i need to change it to my new phone number. but the problem is i can't, i can't because the phone number in my Line account is Bahraini number which is no longer mine/exist. & the new number is Saudi number, my new phone number, the one & only i have now & use it & it's mine. plz I don't want to lose my account, my friends list, my memories in it, plz help, plz fix this problem plz fix it fast... plz fix it now plzzz
No auto-backup

LINE is an amazing app. Everything is easy to use, high quality. Recently, I had to delete the app and re-download it due to problems with the app repeatedly crashing (also an annoying bug). When i re-downloaded it, I found that because i hadn’t backed up my data, everything was gone. All my messages. All my pictures and videos. All my stickers, i even had to download my stickers again. It’s so stupid that LINE doesn’t auto-backup straight from opening the app. You have to go into the settings, and setup a horrible auto-backup system. Just because of this and how angered I am, I will take off two stars.
Problem after update

I couldn't type messages right away before on the text messages. I've to go to + button in order to type it. Then when I just update become worst! I can't even open the app! It said like I have to wait for a moment while they install the update and I can't turn off my device, but after I wait...wait...and wait for a long time (few times already), and even after I soft reset my phone, still I get the same message as before and my app can't open even though I still get some notification whenever my friends send message for me. Please fix it. I still love my app and my cute stickers.

Watch who you friend and invite to your chats it will archive all posts, pictures and data it can. But so can everyone else the difference imo is what purpose this data collection is used for gathered under nefarious disguise of an actual living person but in actuality is a program. Without asking for consent as all apps do i feel the line developers should tag or force all bot creators to clearly state when entering a group chat a bot is present and will store and monitor all communications for future financial gain.
