This app is very user friendly and self explanatory, I have only used it on my last two trips but from what I have experienced from using it has been excellent. It’s so easy to book hotels and travel and they provide a full breakdown of pricing with an itemized receipt. I love the way it lists all the hotels where you are looking to stay and provides straightforward pricing. I would recommend this app to anyone.

We have used Expedia for over 10 years, no matter how much research I do I find they have the best package rates and I love the things to do option. One time I booked a flight else where and it was the worse experience and the worst customer service ever. Expedia has never let us down and always helpful when we’ve had to call

Easy to navigate, and find good deals in US as well as overseas. Not responsive or very helpful in resolving disputes with a property, as a traditional Travel Agency would be, but so long as everything is good, the site is good for travel.

I am so frustrated !! Cannot rate the trip we took in Barcelona to girona and the Dali museum. It was the WORST TOUR IVE EVER BEEN ON !! I would like to save others from doing this as well. The tour guide knew absolutely NOTHING and had no energy and didn’t explain anything about the region and read his intro from a piece of paper including introducing himself. The BUS VISION TOUR IS TO AVOIDED. PLS HELP ME RATE THIS EXPERIENCE !!

Not happy with the app. Only offers one airline when there is many that travel to the area I want to go. If I register directly with the hotel I can get a military discount equal to almost $1000.00 for the week. No bundles with car, hotel and flight from the app but I found it elsewhere.

I’ve stayed at a hotel in Tampa FL and booked a total of 7 nights but was charged for 15 nights! I was told that they would send me the information proving my charges but they haven’t cause they know they are lying about over charging me and that they were caught doing such! Expedia are thieves!

I tend to fly United as much as possible, and Expedia seems to force you to the worst type of United tickets - Basic Economy - that are terrible. They don’t earn United miles, don’t allow a carry on, no assigned seat, etc. So I now have to buy outside of Expedia...

I can honestly say that I use the Expedia app to book a good 60% of my trips! It’s super easy to use, the deals are great for the most part. I love the alerts that I receive when I’ve booked a flight. Seriously Expedia is one of the best apps for travel!

Awful experience cause they told me that my flight was canceled by Turkish airlines. But that wasn’t true as a turkish representative told me it wasn’t after I called them. Expedia kept telling me they were trying to fix it, so i was waiting till the last minute for the expedia staff to fix their issue. They did not fix it, it was all just a ruse. I was on the phone with them for hours and talked to a “manager” who put me on hold for 45 min and then simply hung up on me. I was forced to buy my own ticket and Expedia kept telling me they wouldnt pay for anything cause it wasnt their fault the flight got cancelled....but the flight wasn’t canceled. They had failed to properly book the ticket and simply kept putting blame on the airline and dragging me along from one agent to another until I ran out of time and forced into buying a different ticket. DO NOT USE EXPEDIA or any other third party company for that matter. Theres no point. Just book straight from an airline, at least they can be held accountable.

I’ve been using Expedia for years but sadly now we must part ways. The last three times we’ve booked a hotel, Expedia neglected to send over our reservations. This last weekend was the final straw. It took us over an hour to resolve the issue. You shouldn’t have to worry when you’re hours away from home, hotel is book solid and Expedia just wants to give you a refund

I pretty much do all my travel through Expedia. I love the app it’s super convenient to look up a last minute trip or plan a family vacation. I do wish they could show comparisons for a week out like some other sites do that would save me some time since I try several different combinations of dates until I get the best price. But overall it is the best place I have found for our family travel needs.

I have been a long time user of Expedia...however on one of my many many reservations I had inadvertently selected the wrong date (off by 1 day) so I immediately called Expedia within MINUTES of said error and explained it to the customer service representative who refused to adjust the error...very disappointed. Granted it was an error on my behalf, I wasn’t canceling it but merely asking to reschedule it to the following day. Need I mention the Hotel was far from accommodating with addressing this error as well...SWISSOTEL in Chicago! I will never recommend or stay at there establishment again!

I’ve been using this app for years now, and I really don’t need it for anything complicated, I just use it for keeping track of my flights, have my itinerary on the go instead of a printout and the time frames for them, and really it serves that job very well! I don’t know who uses it for the full on use of the app for booking hotels and such, so I can’t say how they feel about this app, but I enjoy using it for my simplest of needs! I will admit that it can lead me astray a little with last minute changes at the terminals, but I can’t fault the app for that, and even then I have my email to give me info regarding those changes to boot. So yeah, if you need an app that can keep track of your itinerary and flights, I wholeheartedly recommend this app!

Price match promises is a joke. My booking price went down so I call Expedia to price match and an agent stated that I needed to buy the price match promise at the moment of the booking. I told the agent that I did not see this option. Then at the same time I was doing a new booking and I did not see that option either so the agent stated that his option is randomly offered to customers. He was not able to provide more details. I am deleting Expedia app and never booking again. I will move to Orbitz.

I always go on google flights incognito to gauge prices and then I look at Expedia and usually prices are about the same. Prices do vary by when you’re booking and what day of the week you book. I just keep checking incognito so the cookies don’t mess with the best possible prices. In the end I always book with Expedia. I’ve never had problems. It’s reliable and all my booking info is in one app even flight changes like terminal changes while you’re at the airport are very useful. Also you can access your info even if you’re offline, you’ll get the last update that was available. I use this for hotels and their bundles look great but I have never tried it. They look convenient. Not a bad app to have when you’re booking trips.
Payless aka Avis Car Rental, just as bad customer service as Expedia

I made my reservation through the app and then it change the drop off location to a place that was over 30 minutes away for me. I did not mention this when I picked up the car because when I tried to pick up the car they had me down for an economy size when I had made a reservation for a midsize car. They had given my car away is what I was told. So then I had to show the representative at the car rental counter where my reservation clearly says midsize. It took them over an hour to bring me my car rental. Then when I finally got to my destination which is about six hours away I tried to call Expedia and get them to fix their mistake. This was a huge mistake because I wasn’t able to get anywhere since I already picked up the car. I was transferred to Payless, who Expedia rep said he talk to and explain the situation. When I got on the phone I was not able to get them to understand that I was not extending my rental, But I was trying to simply correct the drop off point. Neither Expedia nor the Payless Customer Service, a.k.a. Avis car rental, helped instead I was asked for last for my credit card that I used to reserve the car I provided that and I was told it was incorrect. Which is ridiculous since I am looking at the card that I used and I am repeating the numbers that are there on the card. I will never use Expedia again and I am a first time and last time customer a Payless a.k.a. Avis car rental.
Scammers with terrible customer support

Tl;dr - contacting support through the message option in app or website doesn’t work, phone customer service is unhelpful and they never get back to you. Scam! Background: I had an issue with my car rental in a different country where the rental agency did not honor the expedia booking because I had booked the car for one more day than I needed it , they forced me to make a new booking and pay again. At the time I could not contact Expedia as I did not have working phone service in this country so I ended up making a new booking. I have been trying to contact Expedia by their in app message option, website message option but they never got back to me. When I called them they had no trace of the messages that were sent through the website and app so it clearly doesn’t work and all messages just disappear into ether. Phone support has been unhelpful, I called them 2 days ago for the $560 refund of the original booking amount, they bounced me around a couple of times, finally said they will try to negotiate some refund with the rental company and get back to me in 48 hours. Not only did they not get back to me, I have received no confirmation of even a ticket being created. Even after spending $10k on travel this year through expedia, I have received horrible customer service. Needless to say, I’m never using it again and taking my business elsewhere.

I have loved Expedia since I started traveling on my own and the checkout process is always easy for me. Overall the app is decent and could use a few more features. For example when searching for an all inclusive on the website you can filter that option but in the app you must scroll through all hotels, motels and resorts. Also, I wish that you didn’t have to specifically search from one airport. The app states that it’s to help you find the best deal but to me the best deal would be found by checking all available airports that I am willing to travel to without having to research and put back in all of my filters every time. Also, they claim that it is cheaper to book through the app but I have always found that the better bundles are found on the website. It would also be nice if there was an “availability calendar” like on some other sights where you can see how much cheaper it would be to stay a different night. Another feature that would interest me is being able to search an entire country as your destination to try to find new and cool places to stay in a specific country.

I used Expedia last year to book my car, hotel as well as my flight to Puerto Rico and I loved it I can’t complain. However this year I decided to go over my brother in law who loves to book through the flight Airlines themselves to avoid problems and decided to book through Expedia. I looked for the flights I wanted and called the agent to inform what flight information I was interested in. They were very nice, I also confirmed that my flight was from August 21 to Orlando and coming back on the 27th I informed I’m going with family and we rented a villa and the lady helped me find the tickets got my information and I paid. I quickly glanced at the confirmation email and I though everything was great. Well a couple a days ago I look at the flight to print out the information and have realized and error was made. Instead of the 27th on the return ticket we have the 28th. When I called the agent in Expedia they told me there was nothing they can do and a fee of 200 per ticket was going to apply if we did any changes. Now I’m in Florida and the room that we have at the villa is up to the 27th. On the 27th we will have to find another hotel for me and my 2 children so we can spend one night. This is not easy to do. I’m not happy. I think next time I will listen to my brother in law.

As I pulled up to the hotel I received a call from the receptionist at the hotel telling me that there were no rooms available and they didn’t t know why Expedia booked me. I immediately called Expedia and I was put on hold for more than 50 minutes at least 3 times. This was a Saturday night. When I did get someone on the line, the kept telling me that they had to call the hotel to see if I could be refunded my money. Simply giving me the run around. It wasn’t until the following Monday that someone told me I would be refunded but it would take 7 days and it wouldn’t be the whole amount . I was like Hell No, I want my money back immediately. Why can’t people do the right thing???? Why do they Nickel and dime people. I will NEVER use this company again. It is so disrespectful to leave people on hold for a long period of time hoping they will hang up. This is so wrong and extremely unprofessional. STOP TAKING PEOPLE’s Money if you aren’t going to go over and beyond to make sure they are accommodated and treated with the utmost respect. Unacceptable! I will do everything I can to spread the word about this company.

Went to reserve a hotel room. I put all the information that it needed, which meant my credit card. It charged me and everything. Then the app quit working and it didn’t give me a itinerary number or anything. So I called Expedia and explain to them that you charge me and that I got no itinerary number or a receipt saying that my room was reserved. The guy did not understand at all. He kept asking me if I wanted an upgrade and I said no I don’t want a upgrade you charge me for a room that I didn’t get The guy went on telling me there was nothing for him to do. I told him okay then I want my money back cause you charge me twice which I saw in my bank account. He told me I had to call my bank and figure it out. I am not going to call my bank for something you did. So after fighting over the phone with him for about 10 minutes about how he couldn’t do anything, he finally said that those 2 charges will be in my back on my card in 24 hours to about 48 hours. I will not be reserving anything off of Expedia again. I understand that the app will sometimes freeze, but when it does, they need to have better costumer support and not tell me to fix the mistakes they made.

I would rate this company lower because of how scummy they are. We booked a room for the weekend to find out that when we got to the hotel the whole place had been sold out and expedia actually hadn’t booked us a room. Even with the confirmation number and Itinerary number stating we had a room there was nothing in the hotel. We got to the hotel @ 8 pm after a funeral with a seven week old child, a 3 & 4 year old. We had to drive 3.5 hours home that night with them screaming because we had no where to stay. To top it off when I called their customer service to get my refund, they told me it would take 7 days to process because it had already been charged. They are thieves!!! I demanded my money back immediately since I received no service. They transferred me three time before I got to a manager who could process the refund. Each time they transferred me the wait time got longer and music more annoying. This company is running a scam and they do dirty business. I would never use them again. Don’t use them if you rely on having housing when you arrive at your destination.

Where to begin, first off I was going through Expedia to book airplane tickets for a trip to Miami. Okay first off booking the tickets is easy and quick. My problem is not there but going through the app the transaction wouldn’t go through but look at my account and they took the money out of my account. Smh, called them immediately and they tell me they don’t see anything on my Expedia account. I’m like you should cause there was a debit against my account multiple times. So to speed this up, argued with some agent for an hour on it coming out of my account. And that my bank can’t release the funds unless they sent me a letterhead and they refused to help me. I was like okay so since y’all took the money out can I just get y’all to confirm the plane tickets then and she stated no I had to do a new order and be charged again. Asked to speak to a supervisor and was placed on hold for an hour. The lady came back on the phone just to say she is getting me a supervisor and still no supervisor 30 minutes later. I’m all the way screwed right now and stuck two extra days cause of Expedia this is an outrage.

I use Expedia a lot all over the world. Great selection, easy to find a place to stay. I am a gold member. But every time I book through the app I know that I will have to make at least one and often several phone calls to Expedia to straighten out the problems. Reservations not shown, information scrambled when transferred to hotel or airline, and other problems. Website is slightly less problematic. Most important change needed is to make most recent reservations more easily available with prices and credits shown clearly. Also needs to be more robust when app crashes due to problems like loss of WiFi or cell signal. They also mess up my name every time they make a reservation for me. They combined my first and part of my middle name as my first name and my last name and suffix as a last name when making an international flight reservation. Since my reservation name didn’t match my passport, I got processed like a drug dealer and almost was denied boarding. Another time they left my last name off a hotel reservation. The hotel told me I had no reservation.

Finally i found something that was much more worse than the customer service of expedia, it is their app. It didn’t allow me to login into my account saying that limit exceeded on the first time itself. I verified my login details and tried logging in again and the message was popping up there again like your ex-gf without any mistake of yours. Moreover the app crashes more than the shares of the company in which you invested hoping to get a profit out of it. Also never go for their insurance plan unless until you have cancer or are planning to loose your leg, remember loose your leg and not hand. Because if you loose your hand you are still capable of taking a flight and wouldn’t refund. I obviously didn’t read their 5 page insurance terms and conditions and simply bought the plan. But i learnt that they were simply interested in making money and the insurance was just a scam. According to them IF AND ONLY you have an extremely serious medical condition that makes it impossible for you to walk, you cannot even file a claim.

I recently booked a flights for me and my husband to LAX on Expedia with Frontier Airlines. Now that I have purchased this ticket I find out that Frontier penalizes customers who book their flight with Expedia. If you don’t book a flight directly with Frontier, you have to pay substantially higher baggage fees. These fees are unfair. You even have to pay for a carry on bag. These fees were almost half of the cost of the flight. I’m stuck now having to pay those baggage fees, since my flight was non refundable. There were other flights I could have chosen, but since the Frontier flight was the best price, I chose it. Beware. I have another flight with America Airlines and baggage fees are the same no matter where you book the flight. Just a warning to future customers. I will never fly with Frontier again, thru Expedia or directly with the airline. That’s a shady way to do business. And it took me over an hour to even talk to a human being at Frontier.

I found a good hotel in San Francisco for a good price. But the app does not give good control over the geographical distance included in the search. The filters don’t let you specify a distance range, and the entries, when you call them up, show such a tiny map that you can’t tell where the hotel is in relation to your desired destination. Wasted time reading about hotels that turned out to be 25 miles outside the city! They let you name nearby municipalities/neighborhoods to narrow the search, which is probably part of their attempt to handle this concern. But of course, I’m not going to recognize any of those names because, (surprise, surprise), I’m a visitor traveling from out of town. A simple distance filter, and simply to display the distance from your desired city on each record, would help so much.

I have booked several trip by bundling and last minute stays in the areas I’m in. There are many sites for doing the same thing. What has impressed is that when I have a issue I just call Expedia and they fix the issue. I had an issue with a airport pickup by a hotel that did not have a pickup as late as I got in, I called Expedia, they put me on hold then told me that the hotel would pick me up...and they did. Next I had an issue with a rental drop-off where the rental company would not answer my call because they were closed on Sunday, I called Expedia and they took care of it. Last I called with a app issue when I want to add my travel to a trip my wife already booked with Expedia, they found a way to package the trip saving me $$. Thanks Expedia.

This review mostly centered around the app. I did take a successful trip through Expedia last year and was happy with my flights and hotel. However, I cannot see my future booked trip in the app. It will not load. I’ve tried updating the app and I have a new phone so it shouldn’t be acting poorly. Please fix this bug. Also I will say we had trouble with the website when we booked this year’s trip and I had multiple pending charges on my credit card. But I called customer support and was helped. The lady assured me the erroneous pending charges would be cancelled and they were. So I think the main troubles have been with the app and website. My advice to those complaining, learn how to really read ALL the text that is listed for a hotel. And if you’re not sure of amenities, call either the hotel or Expedia before you travel.
So easy, quick and convenient. I love it!!

I just booked a hotel through the Expedia app for the first time and I have to say what a quick and easy transaction. And the best part is I actually called the hotel directly before I booked the room to ask them how far the train station to the city was from the hotel and figured I may as well book it directly through the hotel but when I told them the price that I got through Expedia I was told to book it through the Expedia website/app because the price that I got was much lower than what the hotel rate directly could give me and Expedia offers the option to use a credit card to hold the room but pay at check in and I can cancel up until the day before. I'm going to use Expedia from now on!!😁

So this has happened to me over and over again. With flights and hotels. When you book directly thru Hotels and airlines they can make changes easily to your reservation and if you have any emergencies they even accommodate you despite their cancellation policies! NOT so when you book thru Expedia!! Over and over I have heard from hotels and airlines, sorry we can’t do anything because you booked thru a third party. Friends who booked thru hotel website or called could cancel or make changes, not us!! So then I call Expedia and they give me the run around, holding on the line for a long time, then the nice representative gets back and says to me yes it’s all handled and you will get a confirmation email BUT the email I get is, sorry the hotel wouldn’t cancel! But they WOULD if I didn’t have booked with Expedia because other people in my party were able to but the hotel isn’t dealing w Expedia?! Anyways I am done so this doesn’t happen anymore! My advise: book directly-no third party booking!

We were supposed to stay at Motel 6 and we informed Expedia that we had a dog. We drove from Pa to Ontario, arrived at Motel 6 and we were turned away because Expedia failed to mention the dog. Motel 6 is pet friendly but had no rooms according to the clerk. We spent the next 4 hours searching for a room and went to the Ramada hotel which was much more expensive. Contacted Expedia once again and they refunded the cost of the room at Motel 6 but we want them to further compensate us. They were asked to pay for our stay at the Ramada and refused. Our vacation was nearly destroyed all because someone from Expedia failed to mention that we had a dog. We had a lot of trouble with the internet and using our phones was very aggravating. Someone from Expedia actually had the nerve to hang up on us while we were scrambling to find a room.

I’ve been using this app for years now, and I really don’t need it for anything complicated, I just use it for keeping track of my flights, have my itinerary on the go instead of a printout and the time frames for them, and really it serves that job very well! I don’t know who uses it for the full on use of the app for booking hotels and such, so I can’t say how they feel about this app, but I enjoy using it for my simplest of needs! I will admit that it can lead me astray a little with last minute changes at the terminals, but I can’t fault the app for that, and even then I have my email to give me info regarding those changes to boot. So yeah, if you need an app that can keep track of your itinerary and flights, I wholeheartedly recommend this app!

Very disappointed with Expedia. I was trying to book a round trip flight. Expedia wasn’t processing my payment (tried 5 times). Spoke with rep who tried as well and failed. I felt like there was a reason for pymt not going thru. Rep told me to try again in 2-3 days and don’t worry about price, it will remain the same (flight was for Jan, we are in nov). 2 days later price increased $100. Called again and another rep told me reason payment was not going thru is because I was choosing 2 separate airlines for my round trip ticket. Seems like not enough money could be made by my booking. My argument is, why have those flight options available if you will not process my payment? Why have me trying over and over thinking it’s my debit card being the problem, when it’s just that my bookings were not profitable enough for Expedia or the airlines. That’s BS. If you can’t process a flight, don’t have it available as an option. Definitely taking my business elsewhere from now on

I choose a cheap flight and great departure and arrival time, but I been trying to book a flight for two days and I entered all booking information and my payment and every time I was ready to book it give me an error that my “book was not able to complete at this moment, please try again later”. I contacted customer support and I told them my issue and, they were trying to do the same thing I did and had the same error. I spend 1hours on the phone with them very patiently, and at the end they just told me the issue is because the airline are changing their booking information etc.. which it doesn’t make any sense, and for that hour they were not able to told me that and nothing was resolve and they were trying to make me buy a more expensive and horrible arrival and departure times flight!! Not help at all... First time trying to book a flight from this site and It was not a great experience. won’t be back here for any of my flight matters.

If I could rate them any lower I would Honesty I never leave a bad review. It’s always been said that if you don’t have anything nice to say then keep it to yourself. I have many points that I should’ve left using this company, but this way the last straw. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. That being said, Expedia has literally done nothing but “make arrangements” and basically bold face lie. I will only talk about my most recent trip. I booked a flight (round trip). Plans changed I couldn’t leave as early as I had hoped. Totally fine. They said I’d need another ticket... not saying round trip ticket just I could t change my ticket I had. So fine I bought anther ticket there. No worries it was my fault. Called Expedia because I had made a mistake, and EXPRESSLY asked if I could check in at 1 am. The agent said no worries I will write that down no need to pay for two nights... Got to the hotel they were wrong. I still had to pay two nights. Got to the airport to leave. No show for my one ticket... so I had to buy another ticket. Did Expedia have my back for either offense. Nope. Not after I have used them for every booking for the last 5 years of my life. Long story short, do your own research and book yourself both vendors said if I booked through them they could help. Expedia is basically your uncle that sells you lemon car then Refuses to take any responsibility for it being crap.

Awful experience cause they told me that my flight was canceled by Turkish airlines. But that wasn’t true as a turkish representative told me it wasn’t after I called them. Expedia kept telling me they were trying to fix it, so i was waiting till the last minute for the expedia staff to fix their issue. They did not fix it, it was all just a ruse. I was on the phone with them for hours and talked to a “manager” who put me on hold for 45 min and then simply hung up on me. I was forced to buy my own ticket and Expedia kept telling me they wouldnt pay for anything cause it wasnt their fault the flight got cancelled....but the flight wasn’t canceled. They had failed to properly book the ticket and simply kept putting blame on the airline and dragging me along from one agent to another until I ran out of time and forced into buying a different ticket. DO NOT USE EXPEDIA or any other third party company for that matter. Theres no point. Just book straight from an airline, at least they can be held accountable.

On my first trip to Europe, I booked my plane ticket and lodging through Expedia. I was very at ease knowing if I ran into any issues I could call Expedia. Only twice did I need to do so and the customer service agents were very reassuring to address and solve my situation. I would only point out, I booked a plane ticket from London to Paris through Vueling Airlines based in Barcelona. If you book coach and need to make changes, you will need to go directly through Vueling. Expedia will not be able to help. Vueling can be challenging to deal with on the app and recommend calling them instead. And because Vueling offers inexpensive trips, in the long run it may end up being more Expensive. Over all, Expedia was there for me.... Thank you.

I’ve used this a few times to book hotels and never had any issues, however this last time I booked several, as we were going on a cross country move and needed pet friendly accommodations and you can’t use that filter on the app so I had to use the website. you can’t choose options like “close to the highway”, Or “can accommodate truck/trailer parking” so that was another headache trying to make sure the hotels weren’t too far out of the way. One of our hotels was just AWFUL and I went to write an HONEST review to warn other potential guests and they wouldn’t allow my review to be posted because ‘they only allow positive reviews’ which kinda upsets me as I spent money to stay in a hotel where I felt unsafe yet that I could have avoided had others reviews been allowed to be posted. I would highly suggest doing your own homework about hotels you are about to book so you don’t have a terrible experience in a sketchy hotel. I’m not sure if I’ll ever use again.

I’ve used Expedia many times and it hasn’t been as awful as this time. We went to book our flight home from NY and we didn’t get our itinerary for the flight. With the company they booked our flight home with it was a small company. The company had many rules with baggage and arrival times that would have been good to know by Expedia. We got to the airport an hour early ( it shouldn’t have taken us longer) when the airline said they couldn’t take our baggage because it was too late and we had missed the flight. The airline told us they couldn’t accommodate us for missing the flight because we booked through a third party for the flight. When I called Expedia to see what they could do they wouldn’t help out at all. I ended up waiting on the phone for 30 minutes just for them to tell me all they could do is book another flight for me and it would cost more money. I will never book with Expedia again for anything.

Customers need to do some due diligence when using Expedia, you will find its sometimes cheaper booking direct with hotels, especially abroad. often times Expedia does not guarantee the best possible price. On a recent trip to Rosarito Mexico i booked a ocean side suite for 2 nights on a weekday, i though i got a bargain for the suite as a typical suite in US can be hundreds of dollars especially with an ocean view, as i later found out from talking to the hotels reservations department they advertise a significantly far lower price on the hotels home page which is a standard rate year round without fluctuation. Which was Expedias copout answer that they have no control over market fluctuation even if rates go down. Again the standard rate starts and begins far lower than Expedias price year round. So Expedia gave me $25 to my account for a future reservation, after they price gauged me and up sold a room for hundreds of dollars more. Not kidding, it was no nickel or dime in difference, it was hundreds.

I'm not a frequent traveler, but I do like three idea of building an account that will give me long term benefits. The design of the app is user friendly. I planned an entire trip to California for three and a couple other small getaways and it works, for the most part workout a hitch. There are a few things that I get annoyed by, 1. The double points thing I think it's just bait to get you to download the app, it's probably some loop hole they are able to use one probably your first purchase, or something similar. It's misleading, and it annoys me. 2. Map integration in this app is terrible. Recently went down to the keys, and the hotel address was nowhere near where the pin dropped from the app, had to Google it in the end. 3. You can't review the hotels after your trip through the app. It doesn't make sense that I've gotta log in online to be able to write the review when the app should have a rating interface. Lastly, I'd like to see Expedia become more competitive with their pricing, I've had the chance to download other traveling apps, and saw the difference. I'm still just a +blue member member, whatever that means, hopefully if I make it to silver I'll see some actual discounts.

I recently booked a hotel and with the room Expedia’s add when I picked my room said “included breakfast for 2”. Well apparently that wasn’t true and my wife had to dish out $28, which would’ve paid for a better meal at a local diner! After wasting 1 hour on the phone with “support”, Expedia found a way to not have to try to reimburse or really do anything! Advice!! Screen snap everything as you pick your room, that was their way out! Even though when I went back on the sight to book the same hotel, any room, any picked day.... and they all said “included breakfast for 2”..... it’s not their problem! I am now done with them! From now on I’ll just call hotels directly.... it’s the same rate!!!

I advise everyone before you even book with Expedia go through the airlines itself. I had an accidental cancellation and they would not help me with getting that exact flight back. The only way to do so is to pay a exchange fee of $200 which leaves me with really nothing to get on the flight I originally booked. I have talked to multiple people All they did was give me run around for hours between Hawaiian airlines and the rep at Expedia still with no help on resolving this matter. They don’t care about their customers all they want is money. And $200 of my “airline credit” and the full payment for the exact same flight exact info everything. No matter how much I explained the cancellation was not suppose to happen. Never do business with this company! They are crooks with no care for anyone. So I lose out on the entire trip booked because of an accident. Never again will I spend my money through Expedia.

This review is about customer service (or lack of) and not particularly the app. After realizing I made a mistake and booked my hotel in the wrong city, I quickly made the correct reservations and called to cancel the incorrect hotel. I was placed on hold while they contacted the hotel to cancel. Once they returned to my line they stated that the hotel manager was not there and they were the only ones who could cancel the hotel. Expedia was to follow up with the hotel and then follow up call would be made to me confirming that it was cancelled and I wouldn’t be charged. Guess what was charged?!?! I called Expedia back and again the same situation. Placed on hold until returned and again they were not able to reconcile my issue. This time CS stated they had no record of my 1st call to cancel. OH!! AND..I was charged for 3nights the full booking too!! Again a follow up call was supposed to be given to me and I still have not received a call.
Expedia iPad app needs improvement, lags behind

Some basic feature functionality is missing that means it lags behind Booking’s app to a material degree. - can’t save favorite hotels to a list (a no brainer) - more detailed info about a particular property or room is presented as a bunch of text, like literally just dumped into an open text field, not user friendly at all - when I go to reserve a room, not all of my user info is saved so it’s midnight and dark in my bedroom, then I need to get out of my bed, fetch my credit card to give it my CVV (Booking’s app doesn’t require this, what gives?) - slow app at times and less responsive than Booking - visually more simple than Booking app means it borders on being dumbed down and simplistic (app devs took simple design way too far here and are sacrificing richer presentation of important data) - feels like it still requires way too many presses and swipes - inability to change dates “on the fly” (have to back out of hotel results page and re-enter dates on start search page) - Expedia, you guys need to hurry and catch up, no wonder Booking continues taking market share from you IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD - you guys spend literally billions on tech and cloud and still can’t produce a competitive app

Long story short, I was ripped off $800 by Expedia and their lack of transparency and terrible customer service. Booked a last minute trip to SF to end the summer. Found fares for $400 for 2 tickets - 5 left. Selected said tickets and chose to book a rental car as well. Checking out, the fares doubled and I figured it was a glitch. Booked the tickets thinking it could be rectified by customer service. Day before flight, customer service says they can clearly see where the prices were $400 each by video surveillance- they have a record of all this. After an hour on the phone w cs, they cannot come to a resolution until 48 hours after my flight... so I’m screwed no matter what. Cannot rebook the day before and they conveniently denied my appeals with NO pricing transparency to boot. Customer service and corporate totally deny my request for the overcharged $800. I’m NEVER using this service again! Buyers beware at own risk!

This is the first time I have given ANY company a bad review because mistakes can happen,but in this case it was not just a mistake. This was incompetence of epic proportions. I just completed a 61/2 hour quest to use my $12 worth of rewards. I should have quit after an hour but by then it was just a matter of principle. After another hour of phone calls and 2 hours on my iPad trying to book a room it became a quest. Then after another 2 hours on my iPad and iPhone and a total of 2 hours on hold and another 2 hours talking to 4 customer service people (and I use that term loosely) I finally did reach someone who could assist me in my reservation and using my $12 worth of rewards. So I will never ever use Expedia again but if you have nothing to do and you would like to spend 61/2 hours wasting your time making a reservation and using your reward points I highly recommend Expedia.

I will never use your service again and will encourage everyone I know to also never use your service again! Expedia has the worst customer service practices! I booked three flights using my phone and didn’t realize until later that the auto correct changed my last name from Walter to Walker. I understand that the error was my fault however, I have spent 4 hours on the phone with name correction and they have only been able to change the name on one flight. Additionally, I was disconnected when one representative transferred me to the airline after being on the phone for 45 minutes. Then I was hung up on by another representative after 55 minutes into the call. My experience your customer service representatives are the most unprofessional customer service reps I have ever dealt with! 4 hours and only one flight has been corrected and I was told that all I could do was call back tomorrow for them to try and contact the airline again. Expedia has their customer service reps responding to people like robots saying the same automated phrases and responses repeatedly. Absolutely terrible service and not worth any amount of money. I will only purchase direct through the airline from here on out! I regret ever using your service.

First time writing a bad review, but I had a terrible experience. I had booked a bundle which consisted of a round-trip flight and a hotel stay in Cancun. When I got my confirmation email it only stated a one-way flight from Cancun and a hotel stay. I decided to call and customer service simply states that right before I booked someone else must have taken the last seats on the flight to my destination. I was never notified or given any caution signs, I was just automatically booked into a one-way flight. They did not offer to find a different flight to Cancun for substitution, and I decided to cancel the trip. (Since buying plane tickets separate would’ve made the trip more expensive) This whole experience made me so frustrated and I decided to not go on a trip at all since I had lost money in the process. Overall their system is flawed and needs improvement.

Zero stars !!!. I booked a flight for April 10, 2018 from Tampa, Florida to Newark. When we got to the airport we found out Expedia had booked it for July 10, 2018. We called Expedia and they said they couldn’t do anything and that it was our problem. We had to ask the United people if we could change our flight date and she said that all the flights that day were sold out and they won’t help us , I had to ask to speak with the United flights supervisor after pleading for help, she could help us book a flight for the next day but we had to buy new tickets. Because of this I almost lost my job and my kids missed an important test that day. Once we got to Newark I made a dispute and they said they would resolve my issue in 2 weeks. I called in 2 weeks and was told that we would not get a refund and that it was not Expedia’s fault for changing the date on our flight.
Huge and basic bug on this App

As industry consolidates, Expedia owns a bunch of other sites such as Travelocity, Orbitz, etc. They all share the same basic app framework which has a serious bug: if you have a two letter last name such as my self, you can’t change anything on your personal info page as your two letter Last Name field will keep reporting an error saying it must be 2 to 30 letters long, even if it is two letter in the Last Name field. It is laughable that a huge company such as Expedia can’t QA their own software on such a basic feature. When I called the call center, it is obvious it is located in an foreign county such as India, the poor girl’s system has the exactly the same bug, and after on hold for about 15 mins, I hang up as she has no clue on how to resolve this issue. Too bad Expedia just lost my business to have 3 business class tickets for my family’s summer European vacation.

I used to be a loyal customer of Expedia, I recommend it to my friends, sometimes I book, sometimes my friends book, we had pleasant experiences, but this time, I am so angry with their service, I booked a package , the hotel is Marriott, after I made the reservation, I realized that is not the one I want to reserve, I called immediately to Expedia, see if I can make a change, if I cannot, that is totally understandable, but they just let me wait wait, and then almost 36 hours gone, they still didn’t reply me, and then I call again, they contact the hotel, and told me I cannot cancel. They wasted me so many time, and if they call the hotel immediately, maybe they will agree with cancellation since I just booked, but after 36hour, no one will let you cancel! I do angry is that they just let me wait and didn’t contact the hotel. I am so disappointed with them!

I accidentally put the wrong date for a hotel booking for a trip to Mexico. As soon as I realized it, I called within a few hours and was unable to change it until they “heard back” from the hotel. They expected me to wait for 30-40 minutes while they called the hotel rather than fix it directly themselves. Days later they write to say “sorry but the hotel declined and we suggest you keep your date or find someone to exchange your hotel to” ??!!!! I was livid and they refused to give me my $100 back. The app doesn’t allow you to make simple changes and you can’t see other travel date options like he full website. Don’t get me started on when my flight to Mexico was cancelled the year before and I received NO notice from Expedia. Never again.

I’ve used Expedia as my go to travel app for years I’ve been VIP with them, however, something has changed. I hope someone in their company sees this because I’m so disappointed with them. There was zero emails about their deals lately (I even checked spam) and when I went to the app nothing about Black Friday deals, it’s not until I went to the actual website that they appeared. Not only that, but I’ve always had an issue with how you can only book one room via the app, but not through the actual website, so majority of the time I’m on the website booking (while seeing I get more points doing it through the app) THEN you have to call and deal with the lousy customer service by calling after being on hold forever. This past year I’ve gone elsewhere to book my hotels, figured it’s time they’re aware they’re losing my money.

If I could rate 0 to this app there is a bad service they only steal your time and money they show a price on airlines tickets but it charger more I was booking a family flights vacation I called them to get an explanation what happened why they took my money from my card and I didn’t receive any email or itinerary now the money is pending I won’t get back in two to three business day to call my bank I called my bank they said the Expedia need to release they money so I can get the money available to used again but the answer it’s your fault trying to used your card again your money is pending we didn’t take from your card They are not helpful at all and I asked them why they do that showing different prices and charging more they said it’s not us is the app that change depend on the city I wouldn’t recommend this app at all

We booked a hotel in September and while we are on the road we switched hotels canceling the initial one using the app. Apparently it did not take and when I called Expedia I spent 45 minutes trying to get in touch with somebody to take corrective action and was eventually dropped. I called the hotel and they claimed they did not receive the cancellation so they did not honor it. I then disputed it through my credit card in the hotel sent them paperwork stating I did not cancel. I called customer service yet again. This time the call center in India answered and I had great difficulty communicating with the CRM. In the end she told me I should have looked for an email regarding the cancellation while I was traveling and hung up on me. I searched Expedia’s website to try to re-dressed this issue and was not surprised to find I couldn’t find a place. Just beware.

I booked a flight and typically defaults to my credit card. When I got my email confirmation I saw that I had been charged for insurance and also used my points. I had 24 hours to change or cancel and when I called within an hour to change my method of payment, I was told I had to calls and rebook. That would be fine, but the nonsense about the price guarantee not being valid made no sense to me. It is as simple as providing excellent customer service, but that might have been asking too much. This is the second time that Expedia caused frustration. My prior awful experience left me stranded in New York because the airline could see my confirmation number, but my name was not attached. I used Expedia a lot, but my experiences leave me feeling that I am glad they have competition and I am one customer they will lose.

I am going to speak about the app first, I find it difficult to get any relevant information off of and I accidentally booked one trip with another email address and although I could pull it up in the app- it wouldn’t save it to my trips. Now onto customer service- I booked a trip and had to cancel within the allowable 24 hour period due to a medical emergency in my family. My dad had to have emergency brain surgery. When I called to ask why I was issued a credit instead of a refund(which if you get a credit, the airline charges you 200 to rebook). Expedia customer service put me on hold for over THREE hours. They would call back when the line would disconnect and tell me the same thing- they were calling the airline. It was never resolved. I will never use this company again and neither will anyone in my family.

I booked a round trip to New York by phone. The email account recorded was wrong so I didn’t received my itinerary. When I requested that my itinerary be forwarded thru my correct email address they said it’s against company policy of sort. They advised that I have to sign in to the email account on record in order to change my email address! I repeatedly told them that the account is wrong, not registered in my name and there is no way for me to open that account nor send or receive mails but to no avail. They gave me a round around so many times. It’s so dumb. I will never use Expedia again. In another booking I made earlier which I requested to be cancelled the itinerary is actively still showing details despite the fact that they have already refunded me ( thanks this time). Their records about me is so mess up. For the rewards, forget it!

I have been using Expedia a lot lately and today i finally experienced how they take care of their customers. I drove for 16 hours over night and finally arrived 4ish am to check in, the front desk guy told me that he already wrote me as a no show and there’s nothing that can be done. The website said 4am and didn’t specify how lax or strict they are with this policy, or whether or not this was sharp 4am or not. I was turned away by the inn and by Expedia. I continued driving to my destination without any sleep and now decided to sleep in my car since i was unable to utilize the inn i paid for. I lost my money and Expedia is doing nothing to help take care of me as a customer. You will be left to sleep in your car if there is any issue. So use a company that values its customers more please. And don’t be stuck like me writing a review from your car.

Whenever you need to cancel or change it is impossible to do thru the app. You have to call customer service and then they call whatever service provider, even if you already spoke with your desired service. Never again, will I book using Expedia, we are better off speaking with our desired service provider directly. If you try to speak with them directly and you booked thru Expedia you will suffer. Contractually, service Provider has to have you go thru Expedia. However, if you cancel your Expedia reservation and then contact your hotel, airline, car rental directly you will get a thousand times better service. One should NEVER book thru Expedia ever, call your service provider directly and tell they this was price you found on Expedia. They will match it and thank you for not booking thru Ex and take better care of you.

I was trying to make a hotel reservation online and was offered double points to do it with the app so I downloaded it. Worst possible decision! Wasted several hours trying to complete the reservation with the app (it wouldn’t accept it), waiting on the phone for costumer service to try to resolve the issue, and then speaking with an absolutely incompetent representative who knew nothing about the app. He kept trying to convince me to make a different reservation over the phone!! After a while I just hung up and went online to do it the way I initially planned to. It worked fine, of course. No extra points but that’s ok. They’re worthless anyway. So save yourself some trouble and don’t download this useless app when they offer double points for doing it. You’ll never get the points and you’ll waste a lot of time.

This app is very user friendly and self explanatory, I have only used it on my last two trips but from what I have experienced from using it has been excellent. It’s so easy to book hotels and travel and they provide a full breakdown of pricing with an itemized receipt. I love the way it lists all the hotels where you are looking to stay and provides straightforward pricing. I would recommend this app to anyone.

I am so frustrated !! Cannot rate the trip we took in Barcelona to girona and the Dali museum. It was the WORST TOUR IVE EVER BEEN ON !! I would like to save others from doing this as well. The tour guide knew absolutely NOTHING and had no energy and didn’t explain anything about the region and read his intro from a piece of paper including introducing himself. Not happy with the app. Only offers one airline when there is many that travel to the area I want to go. If I register directly with the hotel I can get a military discount equal to almost $1000.00 for the week. No bundles with car, hotel and flight from the app but I found it elsewhere.

Awful experience cause they told me that my flight was canceled by Turkish airlines. But that wasn’t true as a turkish representative told me it wasn’t after I called them. Expedia kept telling me they were trying to fix it, so i was waiting till the last minute for the expedia staff to fix their issue. They did not fix it, it was all just a ruse. I was on the phone with them for hours and talked to a “manager” who put me on hold for 45 min and then simply hung up on me. I was forced to buy my own ticket and Expedia kept telling me they wouldnt pay for anything cause it wasnt their fault the flight got cancelled....but the flight wasn’t canceled. They had failed to properly book the ticket and simply kept putting blame on the airline and dragging me along from one agent to another until I ran out of time and forced into buying a different ticket. DO NOT USE EXPEDIA or any other third party company for that matter. Theres no point. Just book straight from an airline, at least they can be held accountable.

I’ve been using Expedia for years but sadly now we must part ways. The last three times we’ve booked a hotel, Expedia neglected to send over our reservations. This last weekend was the final straw. It took us over an hour to resolve the issue. You shouldn’t have to worry when you’re hours away from home, hotel is book solid and Expedia just wants to give you a refund

I pretty much do all my travel through Expedia. I love the app it’s super convenient to look up a last minute trip or plan a family vacation. I do wish they could show comparisons for a week out like some other sites do that would save me some time since I try several different combinations of dates until I get the best price. But overall it is the best place I have found for our family travel needs.

I have been a long time user of Expedia...however on one of my many many reservations I had inadvertently selected the wrong date (off by 1 day) so I immediately called Expedia within MINUTES of said error and explained it to the customer service representative who refused to adjust the error...very disappointed. Granted it was an error on my behalf, I wasn’t canceling it but merely asking to reschedule it to the following day. Need I mention the Hotel was far from accommodating with addressing this error as well...SWISSOTEL in Chicago! I will never recommend or stay at there establishment again!

I’ve been using this app for years now, and I really don’t need it for anything complicated, I just use it for keeping track of my flights, have my itinerary on the go instead of a printout and the time frames for them, and really it serves that job very well! I don’t know who uses it for the full on use of the app for booking hotels and such, so I can’t say how they feel about this app, but I enjoy using it for my simplest of needs! I will admit that it can lead me astray a little with last minute changes at the terminals, but I can’t fault the app for that, and even then I have my email to give me info regarding those changes to boot. So yeah, if you need an app that can keep track of your itinerary and flights, I wholeheartedly recommend this app!

Price match promises is a joke. My booking price went down so I call Expedia to price match and an agent stated that I needed to buy the price match promise at the moment of the booking. I told the agent that I did not see this option. Then at the same time I was doing a new booking and I did not see that option either so the agent stated that his option is randomly offered to customers. He was not able to provide more details. I am deleting Expedia app and never booking again. I will move to Orbitz.

I always go on google flights incognito to gauge prices and then I look at Expedia and usually prices are about the same. Prices do vary by when you’re booking and what day of the week you book. I just keep checking incognito so the cookies don’t mess with the best possible prices. In the end I always book with Expedia. I’ve never had problems. It’s reliable and all my booking info is in one app even flight changes like terminal changes while you’re at the airport are very useful. Also you can access your info even if you’re offline, you’ll get the last update that was available. I use this for hotels and their bundles look great but I have never tried it. They look convenient. Not a bad app to have when you’re booking trips.
Payless aka Avis Car Rental, just as bad customer service as Expedia

I made my reservation through the app and then it change the drop off location to a place that was over 30 minutes away for me. I did not mention this when I picked up the car because when I tried to pick up the car they had me down for an economy size when I had made a reservation for a midsize car. They had given my car away is what I was told. So then I had to show the representative at the car rental counter where my reservation clearly says midsize. It took them over an hour to bring me my car rental. Then when I finally got to my destination which is about six hours away I tried to call Expedia and get them to fix their mistake. This was a huge mistake because I wasn’t able to get anywhere since I already picked up the car. I was transferred to Payless, who Expedia rep said he talk to and explain the situation. When I got on the phone I was not able to get them to understand that I was not extending my rental, But I was trying to simply correct the drop off point. Neither Expedia nor the Payless Customer Service, a.k.a. Avis car rental, helped instead I was asked for last for my credit card that I used to reserve the car I provided that and I was told it was incorrect. Which is ridiculous since I am looking at the card that I used and I am repeating the numbers that are there on the card. I will never use Expedia again and I am a first time and last time customer a Payless a.k.a. Avis car rental.
Scammers with terrible customer support

Tl;dr - contacting support through the message option in app or website doesn’t work, phone customer service is unhelpful and they never get back to you. Scam! Background: I had an issue with my car rental in a different country where the rental agency did not honor the expedia booking because I had booked the car for one more day than I needed it , they forced me to make a new booking and pay again. At the time I could not contact Expedia as I did not have working phone service in this country so I ended up making a new booking. I have been trying to contact Expedia by their in app message option, website message option but they never got back to me. When I called them they had no trace of the messages that were sent through the website and app so it clearly doesn’t work and all messages just disappear into ether. Phone support has been unhelpful, I called them 2 days ago for the $560 refund of the original booking amount, they bounced me around a couple of times, finally said they will try to negotiate some refund with the rental company and get back to me in 48 hours. Not only did they not get back to me, I have received no confirmation of even a ticket being created. Even after spending $10k on travel this year through expedia, I have received horrible customer service. Needless to say, I’m never using it again and taking my business elsewhere.

I have loved Expedia since I started traveling on my own and the checkout process is always easy for me. Overall the app is decent and could use a few more features. For example when searching for an all inclusive on the website you can filter that option but in the app you must scroll through all hotels, motels and resorts. Also, I wish that you didn’t have to specifically search from one airport. The app states that it’s to help you find the best deal but to me the best deal would be found by checking all available airports that I am willing to travel to without having to research and put back in all of my filters every time. Also, they claim that it is cheaper to book through the app but I have always found that the better bundles are found on the website. It would also be nice if there was an “availability calendar” like on some other sights where you can see how much cheaper it would be to stay a different night. Another feature that would interest me is being able to search an entire country as your destination to try to find new and cool places to stay in a specific country.

I used Expedia last year to book my car, hotel as well as my flight to Puerto Rico and I loved it I can’t complain. However this year I decided to go over my brother in law who loves to book through the flight Airlines themselves to avoid problems and decided to book through Expedia. I looked for the flights I wanted and called the agent to inform what flight information I was interested in. They were very nice, I also confirmed that my flight was from August 21 to Orlando and coming back on the 27th I informed I’m going with family and we rented a villa and the lady helped me find the tickets got my information and I paid. I quickly glanced at the confirmation email and I though everything was great. Well a couple a days ago I look at the flight to print out the information and have realized and error was made. Instead of the 27th on the return ticket we have the 28th. When I called the agent in Expedia they told me there was nothing they can do and a fee of 200 per ticket was going to apply if we did any changes. Now I’m in Florida and the room that we have at the villa is up to the 27th. On the 27th we will have to find another hotel for me and my 2 children so we can spend one night. This is not easy to do. I’m not happy. I think next time I will listen to my brother in law.

Words simply cannot explain how irritated I am with EXPEDIA . I booked a room and was charged for it. As I pulled up to the hotel I received a call from the receptionist at the hotel telling me that there were no rooms available and they didn’t t know why Expedia booked me. I immediately called Expedia and I was put on hold for more than 50 minutes at least 3 times. This was a Saturday night. When I did get someone on the line, the kept telling me that they had to call the hotel to see if I could be refunded my money. Simply giving me the run around. It wasn’t until the following Monday that someone told me I would be refunded but it would take 7 days and it wouldn’t be the whole amount . I was like Hell No, I want my money back immediately. Why can’t people do the right thing???? Why do they Nickel and dime people. I will NEVER use this company again. It is so disrespectful to leave people on hold for a long period of time hoping they will hang up. This is so wrong and extremely unprofessional. STOP TAKING PEOPLE’s Money if you aren’t going to go over and beyond to make sure they are accommodated and treated with the utmost respect. Unacceptable! I will do everything I can to spread the word about this company.

Went to reserve a hotel room. I put all the information that it needed, which meant my credit card. It charged me and everything. Then the app quit working and it didn’t give me a itinerary number or anything. So I called Expedia and explain to them that you charge me and that I got no itinerary number or a receipt saying that my room was reserved. The guy did not understand at all. He kept asking me if I wanted an upgrade and I said no I don’t want a upgrade you charge me for a room that I didn’t get The guy went on telling me there was nothing for him to do. I told him okay then I want my money back cause you charge me twice which I saw in my bank account. He told me I had to call my bank and figure it out. I am not going to call my bank for something you did. So after fighting over the phone with him for about 10 minutes about how he couldn’t do anything, he finally said that those 2 charges will be in my back on my card in 24 hours to about 48 hours. I will not be reserving anything off of Expedia again. I understand that the app will sometimes freeze, but when it does, they need to have better costumer support and not tell me to fix the mistakes they made.

I would rate this company lower because of how scummy they are. We booked a room for the weekend to find out that when we got to the hotel the whole place had been sold out and expedia actually hadn’t booked us a room. Even with the confirmation number and Itinerary number stating we had a room there was nothing in the hotel. We got to the hotel @ 8 pm after a funeral with a seven week old child, a 3 & 4 year old. We had to drive 3.5 hours home that night with them screaming because we had no where to stay. To top it off when I called their customer service to get my refund, they told me it would take 7 days to process because it had already been charged. They are thieves!!! I demanded my money back immediately since I received no service. They transferred me three time before I got to a manager who could process the refund. Each time they transferred me the wait time got longer and music more annoying. This company is running a scam and they do dirty business. I would never use them again. Don’t use them if you rely on having housing when you arrive at your destination.

Where to begin, first off I was going through Expedia to book airplane tickets for a trip to Miami. Okay first off booking the tickets is easy and quick. My problem is not there but going through the app the transaction wouldn’t go through but look at my account and they took the money out of my account. Smh, called them immediately and they tell me they don’t see anything on my Expedia account. I’m like you should cause there was a debit against my account multiple times. So to speed this up, argued with some agent for an hour on it coming out of my account. And that my bank can’t release the funds unless they sent me a letterhead and they refused to help me. I was like okay so since y’all took the money out can I just get y’all to confirm the plane tickets then and she stated no I had to do a new order and be charged again. Asked to speak to a supervisor and was placed on hold for an hour. The lady came back on the phone just to say she is getting me a supervisor and still no supervisor 30 minutes later. I’m all the way screwed right now and stuck two extra days cause of Expedia this is an outrage.

I use Expedia a lot all over the world. Great selection, easy to find a place to stay. I am a gold member. But every time I book through the app I know that I will have to make at least one and often several phone calls to Expedia to straighten out the problems. Reservations not shown, information scrambled when transferred to hotel or airline, and other problems. Website is slightly less problematic. Most important change needed is to make most recent reservations more easily available with prices and credits shown clearly. Also needs to be more robust when app crashes due to problems like loss of WiFi or cell signal. They also mess up my name every time they make a reservation for me. They combined my first and part of my middle name as my first name and my last name and suffix as a last name when making an international flight reservation. Since my reservation name didn’t match my passport, I got processed like a drug dealer and almost was denied boarding. Another time they left my last name off a hotel reservation. The hotel told me I had no reservation.

Finally i found something that was much more worse than the customer service of expedia, it is their app. It didn’t allow me to login into my account saying that limit exceeded on the first time itself. I verified my login details and tried logging in again and the message was popping up there again like your ex-gf without any mistake of yours. Moreover the app crashes more than the shares of the company in which you invested hoping to get a profit out of it. Also never go for their insurance plan unless until you have cancer or are planning to loose your leg, remember loose your leg and not hand. Because if you loose your hand you are still capable of taking a flight and wouldn’t refund. I obviously didn’t read their 5 page insurance terms and conditions and simply bought the plan. But i learnt that they were simply interested in making money and the insurance was just a scam. According to them IF AND ONLY you have an extremely serious medical condition that makes it impossible for you to walk, you cannot even file a claim.

I recently booked a flights for me and my husband to LAX on Expedia with Frontier Airlines. Now that I have purchased this ticket I find out that Frontier penalizes customers who book their flight with Expedia. If you don’t book a flight directly with Frontier, you have to pay substantially higher baggage fees. These fees are unfair. You even have to pay for a carry on bag. These fees were almost half of the cost of the flight. I’m stuck now having to pay those baggage fees, since my flight was non refundable. There were other flights I could have chosen, but since the Frontier flight was the best price, I chose it. Beware. I have another flight with America Airlines and baggage fees are the same no matter where you book the flight. Just a warning to future customers. I will never fly with Frontier again, thru Expedia or directly with the airline. That’s a shady way to do business. And it took me over an hour to even talk to a human being at Frontier.

I found a good hotel in San Francisco for a good price. But the app does not give good control over the geographical distance included in the search. The filters don’t let you specify a distance range, and the entries, when you call them up, show such a tiny map that you can’t tell where the hotel is in relation to your desired destination. Wasted time reading about hotels that turned out to be 25 miles outside the city! They let you name nearby municipalities/neighborhoods to narrow the search, which is probably part of their attempt to handle this concern. But of course, I’m not going to recognize any of those names because, (surprise, surprise), I’m a visitor traveling from out of town. A simple distance filter, and simply to display the distance from your desired city on each record, would help so much.

I have booked several trip by bundling and last minute stays in the areas I’m in. There are many sites for doing the same thing. What has impressed is that when I have a issue I just call Expedia and they fix the issue. I had an issue with a airport pickup by a hotel that did not have a pickup as late as I got in, I called Expedia, they put me on hold then told me that the hotel would pick me up...and they did. Next I had an issue with a rental drop-off where the rental company would not answer my call because they were closed on Sunday, I called Expedia and they took care of it. Last I called with a app issue when I want to add my travel to a trip my wife already booked with Expedia, they found a way to package the trip saving me $$. Thanks Expedia.

This review mostly centered around the app. I did take a successful trip through Expedia last year and was happy with my flights and hotel. However, I cannot see my future booked trip in the app. It will not load. I’ve tried updating the app and I have a new phone so it shouldn’t be acting poorly. Please fix this bug. Also I will say we had trouble with the website when we booked this year’s trip and I had multiple pending charges on my credit card. But I called customer support and was helped. The lady assured me the erroneous pending charges would be cancelled and they were. So I think the main troubles have been with the app and website. My advice to those complaining, learn how to really read ALL the text that is listed for a hotel. And if you’re not sure of amenities, call either the hotel or Expedia before you travel.
So easy, quick and convenient. I love it!!

I just booked a hotel through the Expedia app for the first time and I have to say what a quick and easy transaction. And the best part is I actually called the hotel directly before I booked the room to ask them how far the train station to the city was from the hotel and figured I may as well book it directly through the hotel but when I told them the price that I got through Expedia I was told to book it through the Expedia website/app because the price that I got was much lower than what the hotel rate directly could give me and Expedia offers the option to use a credit card to hold the room but pay at check in and I can cancel up until the day before. I'm going to use Expedia from now on!!😁

So this has happened to me over and over again. With flights and hotels. When you book directly thru Hotels and airlines they can make changes easily to your reservation and if you have any emergencies they even accommodate you despite their cancellation policies! NOT so when you book thru Expedia!! Over and over I have heard from hotels and airlines, sorry we can’t do anything because you booked thru a third party. Friends who booked thru hotel website or called could cancel or make changes, not us!! So then I call Expedia and they give me the run around, holding on the line for a long time, then the nice representative gets back and says to me yes it’s all handled and you will get a confirmation email BUT the email I get is, sorry the hotel wouldn’t cancel! But they WOULD if I didn’t have booked with Expedia because other people in my party were able to but the hotel isn’t dealing w Expedia?! Anyways I am done so this doesn’t happen anymore! My advise: book directly-no third party booking!

One star is a lot for this company they don't deserve any star, and you will know why! 😤😠😡🤬🤯😳😱😨😰😥😓👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 We made reservations with Expedia while in the US to visit Canada. We were supposed to stay at Motel 6 and we informed Expedia that we had a dog. We drove from Pa to Ontario, arrived at Motel 6 and we were turned away because Expedia failed to mention the dog. Motel 6 is pet friendly but had no rooms according to the clerk. We spent the next 4 hours searching for a room and went to the Ramada hotel which was much more expensive. Contacted Expedia once again and they refunded the cost of the room at Motel 6 but we want them to further compensate us. They were asked to pay for our stay at the Ramada and refused. Our vacation was nearly destroyed all because someone from Expedia failed to mention that we had a dog. We had a lot of trouble with the internet and using our phones was very aggravating. Someone from Expedia actually had the nerve to hang up on us while we were scrambling to find a room.

Very disappointed with Expedia. I was trying to book a round trip flight. Expedia wasn’t processing my payment (tried 5 times). Spoke with rep who tried as well and failed. I felt like there was a reason for pymt not going thru. Rep told me to try again in 2-3 days and don’t worry about price, it will remain the same (flight was for Jan, we are in nov). 2 days later price increased $100. Called again and another rep told me reason payment was not going thru is because I was choosing 2 separate airlines for my round trip ticket. Seems like not enough money could be made by my booking. My argument is, why have those flight options available if you will not process my payment? Why have me trying over and over thinking it’s my debit card being the problem, when it’s just that my bookings were not profitable enough for Expedia or the airlines. That’s BS. If you can’t process a flight, don’t have it available as an option. Definitely taking my business elsewhere from now on

I choose a cheap flight and great departure and arrival time, but I been trying to book a flight for two days and I entered all booking information and my payment and every time I was ready to book it give me an error that my “book was not able to complete at this moment, please try again later”. I contacted customer support and I told them my issue and, they were trying to do the same thing I did and had the same error. I spend 1hours on the phone with them very patiently, and at the end they just told me the issue is because the airline are changing their booking information etc.. which it doesn’t make any sense, and for that hour they were not able to told me that and nothing was resolve and they were trying to make me buy a more expensive and horrible arrival and departure times flight!! Not help at all... First time trying to book a flight from this site and It was not a great experience. won’t be back here for any of my flight matters.

If I could rate them any lower I would Honesty I never leave a bad review. It’s always been said that if you don’t have anything nice to say then keep it to yourself. I have many points that I should’ve left using this company, but this way the last straw. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. That being said, Expedia has literally done nothing but “make arrangements” and basically bold face lie. I will only talk about my most recent trip. I booked a flight (round trip). Plans changed I couldn’t leave as early as I had hoped. Totally fine. They said I’d need another ticket... not saying round trip ticket just I could t change my ticket I had. So fine I bought anther ticket there. No worries it was my fault. Called Expedia because I had made a mistake, and EXPRESSLY asked if I could check in at 1 am. The agent said no worries I will write that down no need to pay for two nights... Got to the hotel they were wrong. I still had to pay two nights. Got to the airport to leave. No show for my one ticket... so I had to buy another ticket. Did Expedia have my back for either offense. Nope. Not after I have used them for every booking for the last 5 years of my life. Long story short, do your own research and book yourself both vendors said if I booked through them they could help. Expedia is basically your uncle that sells you lemon car then Refuses to take any responsibility for it being crap.

Awful experience cause they told me that my flight was canceled by Turkish airlines. But that wasn’t true as a turkish representative told me it wasn’t after I called them. Expedia kept telling me they were trying to fix it, so i was waiting till the last minute for the expedia staff to fix their issue. They did not fix it, it was all just a ruse. I was on the phone with them for hours and talked to a “manager” who put me on hold for 45 min and then simply hung up on me. I was forced to buy my own ticket and Expedia kept telling me they wouldnt pay for anything cause it wasnt their fault the flight got cancelled....but the flight wasn’t canceled. They had failed to properly book the ticket and simply kept putting blame on the airline and dragging me along from one agent to another until I ran out of time and forced into buying a different ticket. DO NOT USE EXPEDIA or any other third party company for that matter. Theres no point. Just book straight from an airline, at least they can be held accountable.

On my first trip to Europe, I booked my plane ticket and lodging through Expedia. I was very at ease knowing if I ran into any issues I could call Expedia. Only twice did I need to do so and the customer service agents were very reassuring to address and solve my situation. I would only point out, I booked a plane ticket from London to Paris through Vueling Airlines based in Barcelona. If you book coach and need to make changes, you will need to go directly through Vueling. Expedia will not be able to help. Vueling can be challenging to deal with on the app and recommend calling them instead. And because Vueling offers inexpensive trips, in the long run it may end up being more Expensive. Over all, Expedia was there for me.... Thank you.

I’ve used this a few times to book hotels and never had any issues, however this last time I booked several, as we were going on a cross country move and needed pet friendly accommodations and you can’t use that filter on the app so I had to use the website. you can’t choose options like “close to the highway”, Or “can accommodate truck/trailer parking” so that was another headache trying to make sure the hotels weren’t too far out of the way. One of our hotels was just AWFUL and I went to write an HONEST review to warn other potential guests and they wouldn’t allow my review to be posted because ‘they only allow positive reviews’ which kinda upsets me as I spent money to stay in a hotel where I felt unsafe yet that I could have avoided had others reviews been allowed to be posted. I would highly suggest doing your own homework about hotels you are about to book so you don’t have a terrible experience in a sketchy hotel. I’m not sure if I’ll ever use again.

I’ve used Expedia many times and it hasn’t been as awful as this time. We went to book our flight home from NY and we didn’t get our itinerary for the flight. With the company they booked our flight home with it was a small company. The company had many rules with baggage and arrival times that would have been good to know by Expedia. We got to the airport an hour early ( it shouldn’t have taken us longer) when the airline said they couldn’t take our baggage because it was too late and we had missed the flight. The airline told us they couldn’t accommodate us for missing the flight because we booked through a third party for the flight. When I called Expedia to see what they could do they wouldn’t help out at all. I ended up waiting on the phone for 30 minutes just for them to tell me all they could do is book another flight for me and it would cost more money. I will never book with Expedia again for anything.

Customers need to do some due diligence when using Expedia, you will find its sometimes cheaper booking direct with hotels, especially abroad. often times Expedia does not guarantee the best possible price. On a recent trip to Rosarito Mexico i booked a ocean side suite for 2 nights on a weekday, i though i got a bargain for the suite as a typical suite in US can be hundreds of dollars especially with an ocean view, as i later found out from talking to the hotels reservations department they advertise a significantly far lower price on the hotels home page which is a standard rate year round without fluctuation. Which was Expedias copout answer that they have no control over market fluctuation even if rates go down. Again the standard rate starts and begins far lower than Expedias price year round. So Expedia gave me $25 to my account for a future reservation, after they price gauged me and up sold a room for hundreds of dollars more. Not kidding, it was no nickel or dime in difference, it was hundreds.

I'm not a frequent traveler, but I do like three idea of building an account that will give me long term benefits. The design of the app is user friendly. I planned an entire trip to California for three and a couple other small getaways and it works, for the most part workout a hitch. There are a few things that I get annoyed by, 1. The double points thing I think it's just bait to get you to download the app, it's probably some loop hole they are able to use one probably your first purchase, or something similar. It's misleading, and it annoys me. 2. Map integration in this app is terrible. Recently went down to the keys, and the hotel address was nowhere near where the pin dropped from the app, had to Google it in the end. 3. You can't review the hotels after your trip through the app. It doesn't make sense that I've gotta log in online to be able to write the review when the app should have a rating interface. Lastly, I'd like to see Expedia become more competitive with their pricing, I've had the chance to download other traveling apps, and saw the difference. I'm still just a +blue member member, whatever that means, hopefully if I make it to silver I'll see some actual discounts.

I recently booked a hotel and with the room Expedia’s add when I picked my room said “included breakfast for 2”. Well apparently that wasn’t true and my wife had to dish out $28, which would’ve paid for a better meal at a local diner! After wasting 1 hour on the phone with “support”, Expedia found a way to not have to try to reimburse or really do anything! Advice!! Screen snap everything as you pick your room, that was their way out! Even though when I went back on the sight to book the same hotel, any room, any picked day.... and they all said “included breakfast for 2”..... it’s not their problem! I am now done with them! From now on I’ll just call hotels directly.... it’s the same rate!!!

I advise everyone before you even book with Expedia go through the airlines itself. I had an accidental cancellation and they would not help me with getting that exact flight back. The only way to do so is to pay a exchange fee of $200 which leaves me with really nothing to get on the flight I originally booked. I have talked to multiple people All they did was give me run around for hours between Hawaiian airlines and the rep at Expedia still with no help on resolving this matter. They don’t care about their customers all they want is money. And $200 of my “airline credit” and the full payment for the exact same flight exact info everything. No matter how much I explained the cancellation was not suppose to happen. Never do business with this company! They are crooks with no care for anyone. So I lose out on the entire trip booked because of an accident. Never again will I spend my money through Expedia.

This review is about customer service (or lack of) and not particularly the app. After realizing I made a mistake and booked my hotel in the wrong city, I quickly made the correct reservations and called to cancel the incorrect hotel. I was placed on hold while they contacted the hotel to cancel. Once they returned to my line they stated that the hotel manager was not there and they were the only ones who could cancel the hotel. Expedia was to follow up with the hotel and then follow up call would be made to me confirming that it was cancelled and I wouldn’t be charged. Guess what was charged?!?! I called Expedia back and again the same situation. Placed on hold until returned and again they were not able to reconcile my issue. This time CS stated they had no record of my 1st call to cancel. OH!! AND..I was charged for 3nights the full booking too!! Again a follow up call was supposed to be given to me and I still have not received a call.
Expedia iPad app needs improvement, lags behind

Some basic feature functionality is missing that means it lags behind Booking’s app to a material degree. - can’t save favorite hotels to a list (a no brainer) - more detailed info about a particular property or room is presented as a bunch of text, like literally just dumped into an open text field, not user friendly at all - when I go to reserve a room, not all of my user info is saved so it’s midnight and dark in my bedroom, then I need to get out of my bed, fetch my credit card to give it my CVV (Booking’s app doesn’t require this, what gives?) - slow app at times and less responsive than Booking - visually more simple than Booking app means it borders on being dumbed down and simplistic (app devs took simple design way too far here and are sacrificing richer presentation of important data) - feels like it still requires way too many presses and swipes - inability to change dates “on the fly” (have to back out of hotel results page and re-enter dates on start search page) - Expedia, you guys need to hurry and catch up, no wonder Booking continues taking market share from you IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD - you guys spend literally billions on tech and cloud and still can’t produce a competitive app

Long story short, I was ripped off $800 by Expedia and their lack of transparency and terrible customer service. Booked a last minute trip to SF to end the summer. Found fares for $400 for 2 tickets - 5 left. Selected said tickets and chose to book a rental car as well. Checking out, the fares doubled and I figured it was a glitch. Booked the tickets thinking it could be rectified by customer service. Day before flight, customer service says they can clearly see where the prices were $400 each by video surveillance- they have a record of all this. After an hour on the phone w cs, they cannot come to a resolution until 48 hours after my flight... so I’m screwed no matter what. Cannot rebook the day before and they conveniently denied my appeals with NO pricing transparency to boot. Customer service and corporate totally deny my request for the overcharged $800. I’m NEVER using this service again! Buyers beware at own risk!

This is the first time I have given ANY company a bad review because mistakes can happen,but in this case it was not just a mistake. This was incompetence of epic proportions. I just completed a 61/2 hour quest to use my $12 worth of rewards. I should have quit after an hour but by then it was just a matter of principle. After another hour of phone calls and 2 hours on my iPad trying to book a room it became a quest. Then after another 2 hours on my iPad and iPhone and a total of 2 hours on hold and another 2 hours talking to 4 customer service people (and I use that term loosely) I finally did reach someone who could assist me in my reservation and using my $12 worth of rewards. So I will never ever use Expedia again but if you have nothing to do and you would like to spend 61/2 hours wasting your time making a reservation and using your reward points I highly recommend Expedia.
Do not use this company! Save yourself the time and money and book direct!

I will never use your service again and will encourage everyone I know to also never use your service again! Expedia has the worst customer service practices! I booked three flights using my phone and didn’t realize until later that the auto correct changed my last name from Walter to Walker. I understand that the error was my fault however, I have spent 4 hours on the phone with name correction and they have only been able to change the name on one flight. Additionally, I was disconnected when one representative transferred me to the airline after being on the phone for 45 minutes. Then I was hung up on by another representative after 55 minutes into the call. My experience your customer service representatives are the most unprofessional customer service reps I have ever dealt with! 4 hours and only one flight has been corrected and I was told that all I could do was call back tomorrow for them to try and contact the airline again. Expedia has their customer service reps responding to people like robots saying the same automated phrases and responses repeatedly. Absolutely terrible service and not worth any amount of money. I will only purchase direct through the airline from here on out! I regret ever using your service.

First time writing a bad review, but I had a terrible experience. I had booked a bundle which consisted of a round-trip flight and a hotel stay in Cancun. When I got my confirmation email it only stated a one-way flight from Cancun and a hotel stay. I decided to call and customer service simply states that right before I booked someone else must have taken the last seats on the flight to my destination. I was never notified or given any caution signs, I was just automatically booked into a one-way flight. They did not offer to find a different flight to Cancun for substitution, and I decided to cancel the trip. (Since buying plane tickets separate would’ve made the trip more expensive) This whole experience made me so frustrated and I decided to not go on a trip at all since I had lost money in the process. Overall their system is flawed and needs improvement.

Zero stars !!!. I booked a flight for April 10, 2018 from Tampa, Florida to Newark. When we got to the airport we found out Expedia had booked it for July 10, 2018. We called Expedia and they said they couldn’t do anything and that it was our problem. We had to ask the United people if we could change our flight date and she said that all the flights that day were sold out and they won’t help us , I had to ask to speak with the United flights supervisor after pleading for help, she could help us book a flight for the next day but we had to buy new tickets. Because of this I almost lost my job and my kids missed an important test that day. Once we got to Newark I made a dispute and they said they would resolve my issue in 2 weeks. I called in 2 weeks and was told that we would not get a refund and that it was not Expedia’s fault for changing the date on our flight.

As industry consolidates, Expedia owns a bunch of other sites such as Travelocity, Orbitz, etc. They all share the same basic app framework which has a serious bug: if you have a two letter last name such as my self, you can’t change anything on your personal info page as your two letter Last Name field will keep reporting an error saying it must be 2 to 30 letters long, even if it is two letter in the Last Name field. It is laughable that a huge company such as Expedia can’t QA their own software on such a basic feature. When I called the call center, it is obvious it is located in an foreign county such as India, the poor girl’s system has the exactly the same bug, and after on hold for about 15 mins, I hang up as she has no clue on how to resolve this issue. Too bad Expedia just lost my business to have 3 business class tickets for my family’s summer European vacation.

I used to be a loyal customer of Expedia, I recommend it to my friends, sometimes I book, sometimes my friends book, we had pleasant experiences, but this time, I am so angry with their service, I booked a package , the hotel is Marriott, after I made the reservation, I realized that is not the one I want to reserve, I called immediately to Expedia, see if I can make a change, if I cannot, that is totally understandable, but they just let me wait wait, and then almost 36 hours gone, they still didn’t reply me, and then I call again, they contact the hotel, and told me I cannot cancel. They wasted me so many time, and if they call the hotel immediately, maybe they will agree with cancellation since I just booked, but after 36hour, no one will let you cancel! I do angry is that they just let me wait and didn’t contact the hotel. I am so disappointed with them!

I accidentally put the wrong date for a hotel booking for a trip to Mexico. As soon as I realized it, I called within a few hours and was unable to change it until they “heard back” from the hotel. They expected me to wait for 30-40 minutes while they called the hotel rather than fix it directly themselves. Days later they write to say “sorry but the hotel declined and we suggest you keep your date or find someone to exchange your hotel to” ??!!!! I was livid and they refused to give me my $100 back. The app doesn’t allow you to make simple changes and you can’t see other travel date options like he full website. Don’t get me started on when my flight to Mexico was cancelled the year before and I received NO notice from Expedia. Never again.

I’ve used Expedia as my go to travel app for years I’ve been VIP with them, however, something has changed. I hope someone in their company sees this because I’m so disappointed with them. There was zero emails about their deals lately (I even checked spam) and when I went to the app nothing about Black Friday deals, it’s not until I went to the actual website that they appeared. Not only that, but I’ve always had an issue with how you can only book one room via the app, but not through the actual website, so majority of the time I’m on the website booking (while seeing I get more points doing it through the app) THEN you have to call and deal with the lousy customer service by calling after being on hold forever. This past year I’ve gone elsewhere to book my hotels, figured it’s time they’re aware they’re losing my money.

If I could rate 0 to this app there is a bad service they only steal your time and money they show a price on airlines tickets but it charger more I was booking a family flights vacation I called them to get an explanation what happened why they took my money from my card and I didn’t receive any email or itinerary now the money is pending I won’t get back in two to three business day to call my bank I called my bank they said the Expedia need to release they money so I can get the money available to used again but the answer it’s your fault trying to used your card again your money is pending we didn’t take from your card They are not helpful at all and I asked them why they do that showing different prices and charging more they said it’s not us is the app that change depend on the city I wouldn’t recommend this app at all
Cancellation didn’t work through app

We booked a hotel in September and while we are on the road we switched hotels canceling the initial one using the app. Apparently it did not take and when I called Expedia I spent 45 minutes trying to get in touch with somebody to take corrective action and was eventually dropped. I called the hotel and they claimed they did not receive the cancellation so they did not honor it. I then disputed it through my credit card in the hotel sent them paperwork stating I did not cancel. I called customer service yet again. This time the call center in India answered and I had great difficulty communicating with the CRM. In the end she told me I should have looked for an email regarding the cancellation while I was traveling and hung up on me. I searched Expedia’s website to try to re-dressed this issue and was not surprised to find I couldn’t find a place. Just beware.

I booked a flight and typically defaults to my credit card. When I got my email confirmation I saw that I had been charged for insurance and also used my points. I had 24 hours to change or cancel and when I called within an hour to change my method of payment, I was told I had to calls and rebook. That would be fine, but the nonsense about the price guarantee not being valid made no sense to me. It is as simple as providing excellent customer service, but that might have been asking too much. This is the second time that Expedia caused frustration. My prior awful experience left me stranded in New York because the airline could see my confirmation number, but my name was not attached. I used Expedia a lot, but my experiences leave me feeling that I am glad they have competition and I am one customer they will lose.

I am going to speak about the app first, I find it difficult to get any relevant information off of and I accidentally booked one trip with another email address and although I could pull it up in the app- it wouldn’t save it to my trips. Now onto customer service- I booked a trip and had to cancel within the allowable 24 hour period due to a medical emergency in my family. My dad had to have emergency brain surgery. When I called to ask why I was issued a credit instead of a refund(which if you get a credit, the airline charges you 200 to rebook). Expedia customer service put me on hold for over THREE hours. They would call back when the line would disconnect and tell me the same thing- they were calling the airline. It was never resolved. I will never use this company again and neither will anyone in my family.

I booked a round trip to New York by phone. The email account recorded was wrong so I didn’t received my itinerary. When I requested that my itinerary be forwarded thru my correct email address they said it’s against company policy of sort. They advised that I have to sign in to the email account on record in order to change my email address! I repeatedly told them that the account is wrong, not registered in my name and there is no way for me to open that account nor send or receive mails but to no avail. They gave me a round around so many times. It’s so dumb. I will never use Expedia again. In another booking I made earlier which I requested to be cancelled the itinerary is actively still showing details despite the fact that they have already refunded me ( thanks this time). Their records about me is so mess up. For the rewards, forget it!

I have been using Expedia a lot lately and today i finally experienced how they take care of their customers. I drove for 16 hours over night and finally arrived 4ish am to check in, the front desk guy told me that he already wrote me as a no show and there’s nothing that can be done. The website said 4am and didn’t specify how lax or strict they are with this policy, or whether or not this was sharp 4am or not. I was turned away by the inn and by Expedia. I continued driving to my destination without any sleep and now decided to sleep in my car since i was unable to utilize the inn i paid for. I lost my money and Expedia is doing nothing to help take care of me as a customer. You will be left to sleep in your car if there is any issue. So use a company that values its customers more please. And don’t be stuck like me writing a review from your car.

Whenever you need to cancel or change it is impossible to do thru the app. You have to call customer service and then they call whatever service provider, even if you already spoke with your desired service. Never again, will I book using Expedia, we are better off speaking with our desired service provider directly. If you try to speak with them directly and you booked thru Expedia you will suffer. Contractually, service Provider has to have you go thru Expedia. However, if you cancel your Expedia reservation and then contact your hotel, airline, car rental directly you will get a thousand times better service. One should NEVER book thru Expedia ever, call your service provider directly and tell they this was price you found on Expedia. They will match it and thank you for not booking thru Ex and take better care of you.

I was trying to make a hotel reservation online and was offered double points to do it with the app so I downloaded it. Worst possible decision! Wasted several hours trying to complete the reservation with the app (it wouldn’t accept it), waiting on the phone for costumer service to try to resolve the issue, and then speaking with an absolutely incompetent representative who knew nothing about the app. He kept trying to convince me to make a different reservation over the phone!! After a while I just hung up and went online to do it the way I initially planned to. It worked fine, of course. No extra points but that’s ok. They’re worthless anyway. So save yourself some trouble and don’t download this useless app when they offer double points for doing it. You’ll never get the points and you’ll waste a lot of time.
