FIX. YOUR. GAME!!!
by P|$$3|) 0££ on 2019/09/15 17:42
The is a game-breaking glitch where if you die your first time through Nepto Temple, you are unable to re-enter the temple. You can go back, talk to every Viking in the cave and it makes 0 difference. The Enterprise is sitting in the water; there’s nothing I can do about it. I’ve bought a few FF games but things like this don’t give me much confidence that these games are well-ported.
Not downloadable
by William List on 2019/05/29 19:46
I love this game, but for some reason, it has stopped being able to download recently. I tried everything I could on my end. I would love to play it again.
Ipad version needs controller support.
by Kozemczak on 2019/03/15 09:47
I cant believe the ipad is more expensive and can’t use a controller like the iphone veesion.
Needs an update
by Marsz_23 on 2019/03/09 15:01
The game runs flawlessly and the story is awesome, I strongly recommend to play this game if you love RPGs. iPad Pro and iPhone X support is definitely needed.
Bought in bundle; was expecting the 2D version
by cmalek on 2019/03/06 14:25
These 3D graphics look like garbage. Please give the hand drawn pixel version.
Mostly works, but some problems
by Count _to_10 on 2019/01/12 20:26
The game plays fairly well, but some things are lacking. There really is very little in game indication of how the mechanics work, and the stats of the “super class” Onion Knight remain at 11 all the way up to max level (not sure if the others work correctly either).
More options please
by Jechtus on 2018/09/30 16:09
Overall this is a great play and good game. You get time to go through it and passes time while you are waiting at the Dr or on the train etc. only other options that would be nice like they have in other IOS Final Fantasy games is ‘Auto Battle’ and a game + mode where you can replay with the stats and equipment you ended your last game with.
Doesn't save well
by alabgh)6 on 2018/09/01 04:42
Consistently the app doesn't save and if I go away from it and into another app, when I come back it refreshes to title screen and progress is lost. That's not how mobile games are meant to be played.
Please do a Korean patch
by smile4947 on 2018/08/10 05:03
What the hell is wrong with Android? Please.
Edit
by SEABASS THE GREAT! on 2018/08/01 13:14
Kinda expensive for a game that can't even support all screens. But still a nostalgic game
iTunes File Sharing

Hello, can you enable iTunes file sharing for this game? Great game by the way!
Glitch Prevents Progression
by Waffle_Kat on 2018/05/10 21:30
In the Molten Cave there is a secret entrance to fight the boss which is activated by interacting with a rock. The entrance was able to be opened the first time. After saving and returning the next day, the door is sealed again but the rock is no longer able to be activated so as to open the door again. After googling around, this seems to be a bug experienced by others as well. I am disappointed to encounter a game-breaking glitch as I was otherwise quite satisfied with the game. However, $16 is too much to pay for something that stops working after a week.
pls support Korean ㅠㅠ

Needs optimization
by Snacks48 on 2017/11/25 21:12
The game does not display in native wide screen and the resolution is stretched and scaled from 960 x 640 onto the iPhone 6's 1334 x 750 resolution which makes it look ugly. Please optimize for the new iPhones. Edit: 3 years later it is now 2017 and the resolution is still awful the iPhone X is out and all of Square Enix games look small and awful on this beautiful display.
The best
by User78422375623846 on 2017/08/30 16:59
Loved this game on the DS, playing it again on iOS is lots of fun. I really wish they included that lovely opening film that was included in the DS version though. I understand this might make the file size bigger, but I absolutely loved watching that clip!
Love this
by Smatt91957 on 2017/07/23 19:04
I love how FF is the only franchise with the mental fortitude to make their games available for download as an app. It's a shame Pokémon or digimon won't do the same.
Ff3
by Felter71 on 2017/05/20 12:51
Love this game, but I'm stuck because I can't use the mini spell for some reason 😭😭 basically wasted my money
Lost my quick save - No hard save option
by DuhFrenchGuy on 2017/05/14 23:11
Lost my saved game after being beaten in an area, somehow my save disappeared locally. Now I have to restart the entire game... Saving in this game is a problem, the cloud system is only for one save, you cannot hard save (only quick save), every quick save takes you back to the main menu and you need to load he game again. What kind of UX design is this? Game is fun, UX is garbage.
Great RPG! No Auto-Battle?
by Curtis R. Shideler on 2017/04/08 14:32
I love this RPG. It can last for as little or long as you want. Well made and produced... I wish it was optimized for bigger screens instead of stretched, but at least we can change it back to normal in options. BUT, the PSP version on the PSN has an auto-battle option that would really improve the gameplay for mobile. Why wasn't that implemented in this version? For the reviewer who said it was $15 for the first chapter... What are you talking about?!? There aren't chapters, and this is a fully premium game. It's $15 for the whole thing, however long it takes you to beat it.
Needs a update!
by PeterCroson on 2017/03/25 21:19
I've lost all my progress on this game. The cloud save is a disaster and needs to be fixed. You can only save one local game and one in the cloud. This makes it extremely easy to mess up and lose all your progress. Please allow multiple saves and quick saves and I will update to a five star.
Great Run!
by Ryalfin_21 on 2017/01/16 19:23
I beat this game in 3 days after purchasing it for the IPhone 7. Runs beautifully and smoothly. Also, having a guide with this game is HIGHLY recommended. Final Fantasy 3 Wiki Guide really helped me get through the game (along with tackling the challenging side quests and bosses). Was super fun, challenging and unforgettable.
Great Port
by AlkaidNova on 2016/11/06 07:12
Seems like a graphically cleaner port of the DS version. Controls are pretty smooth. Definitely a good pick for when you have a lot of time to spend.

by UncleSlam Temple on 2016/08/25 21:36
Update: where are all these one star reviews coming from?! After all the updates this and every other FF title still runs perfectly! Don't listen to the trolls So I beat this game a while back as a part of my crusade to purchase and beat all FF games on the App Store. This...game...is...a...masterpiece!!!!! I LOVE the old school polygonal pixely 64-graphics. It brings me back to the days of playing Zelda on my N64. Not to mention Quest 64...the best turn-based RPG ever for the N64. Needless to say this is without a doubt the most amazing Final Fantasy game I've ever played! By far the best and most enjoyable part of this game is the sophisticated job class system, where you can change each party member's job class at any time during the game as much as you want with a total of 23 classes becoming available to you throughout the game. The boss battles are EPIC and unforgettable. Probably the best of all the Final Fantasy games, with the final boss being one of the hardest son of a guns I've ever faced! Everything about this game is so incredibly rewarding, from beating that tough boss that's been slaughtering you to shreds to the mind blowing story line. It's the best 16 bucks you could ever hope to spend in the App Store!!!❤️❤️❤️ Next stop...Final Fantasy IV!!!!!!!
Please add option for old graphics
by slimthugster on 2016/08/22 23:17
The new graphics really ruin the game. Can we have an option to be able to play the game with retro graphics?
L2R
by Selppaekili on 2016/07/22 22:27
The game is fine and good, don't listen to those souring over a "chapter" just because they don't know where to go to progress, then proceed to rate the game poorly based on their incompetence. There's no handholding here in this FF, you may wander into an area you shouldn't and get mauled or you may just not know where to go. This is one whole game and it is beatable, don't listen to the sourcats!
Onion Knight armor and weapon drop rate...
by Stud_Italian on 2016/07/06 03:59
Played the game from the NES and DS. My main issue, is the drop rate for the Onion Knight Armor gear and their weapons. The Red Dragon drops the Armor Piece. The Green Dragon drops the Onion Gauntlets. And the Yellow Dragon drops the Onion Helmet. All of the dragons also has a CHANCE to drop Onion Sword (extremely rare) and the Onion Shield (Rare). The drops rates for all of them are HORRIBLE I spend days and days; weeks and weeks; months and months; even years! For over a year I only gotten the Onion Shields. And nothing else. The drop rate should increase more! Having the drops rates like 2-5% chance is just bad! All I keep getting is Elixir, like seriously. And when I finally get something from Onion's; it's an Onion Shield. At least boost up the drop rate for the Onion Armor and weapon to 25-30% drop rate. Because this 2-5% chance drop rate is annoying! I have many hours on this game to complete the set for my characters and still nothing. Please! Make the Onion Knight Armors and Weapon drop rates at least to 25-30% drop rate! I mean, finding the dragons are hard enough to find; so why make it 3x harder to find the complete set for the Onion Knight class. Please, increase the drop rate for the Onion Knights Gear and Weapon. Please.
Best ff

Its still my favorite of all time. After the first chapter I couldn't get off. It's always had me hooked.
Does FF3 only have 1 mission?
by Strife1873 on 2016/06/23 03:21
The game seems to end after the first mission. Am I missing something?
Grrrrrrrrr
by Bluetygerwook on 2016/05/27 17:06
Was there really no where yu could tell me I was spending $15 on just the first chapter?! I'm very unhappy right now! Good game, sure wish I could finish it!

Great but
by Masked x on 2016/03/29 13:18
The game is a great port. My only problem is the save mechanism. If you save in the game it exits the game. If you die your local copy of the game is deleted. So to save you have to quick save in the game the upload to the cloud. And if you die then download from the cloud. Outside of that its great.
awesome
by ron3042 on 2016/03/22 11:40
its a wonderful game. i got lost where to go about 7 times in the game. besides that, its very challengin. my only problem i have now is that i made it to the last boss at least ( wastnt able to beat the game yet ) i was playin it on the iphone5. and now that i have the iphone6s, and i redownload the game so i can try to finish it, it tells me that i have NO data of the game and somehow icloud didnt save the game either even if i back up the fone and used icloud to save progress of my game making sure that i dont loose my data. Now i have to start from the begginin of the game ( which im not ) so i paid for the game just to end up restarting all over again??? any way for me to obtain my data?? its really unfair after playin the game for 3 months.

I absolutely love this game and have since its release before iOS, That being said it gets a one star solely because the app got deleted from a family member and I was on my way to the final boss, I re downloaded the game and there are no save profiles and I refuse to start that much over. As I said amazing game, story, and graphically wise, just don't delete it and feel as bad as I do.

I didn't want to review the game until I was able to go all the way through. After beating the game, It seems flawless. Controls were easy, graphics were great, and I wouldn't change a thing!
Three major changes need to be made
by missingno5 on 2016/01/07 18:02
This game needs three things and it'll be complete: auto battle, icloud support, and ipad compatibility. The fact that it is necessary to buy the game on both iphone and ipad is both stupid and greedy. Fix these things and the game will be 5/5
Auto battle!
by Mcgizzle44 on 2015/12/28 15:07
I know the original didn't have an auto battle feature but I would love to have something like that added to the game! It would make it much quicker to battle lower level enemies in the game! Please add this feature for a 5 star rating! Still a fun game!
Works great!
by jtf323 on 2015/12/26 15:46
So far the game has run fine for me (iPhone 6s iOS 9.2) and is an excellent port!

IOS 9 fix
by Marco xiii on 2015/11/14 19:42
With the recent update the game is flawless
Why no iPad compatibility
by finalgamer on 2015/11/08 18:18
This is a review about the port, not the game proper. It is frustrating that some of the games in the series (i.e., I, IV, VI, VII) are compatible on both iPad and iPhone and include iCloud saving features while other games in the series (II, III, Tactics, Chrono Trigger) do not work on both machines. Worse still, Final Fantasy III and Tactics must be purchased twice if you want to play it on both devices. This should be fixed (and iCloud enabled) for these games.
Good job! 👏🏼👏🏾👏🏼👏🏿
by Lucario2OOO on 2015/11/04 03:36
You did great fixing this game but you need to go in order. People have been complaining about FF2 and 1 WAY longer then this one. You need to fix those games really bad. But this is about FFIII so I give it 5-5 for at least doing something. 👍🏼 keep up the good work!
Works great
by Xenobits on 2015/10/29 20:37

As many other people have said. The game keeps crashing.
Horrible item bug.
by Vampire pie on 2015/10/08 20:38
I love this game to death, but every time I use an item when not in a conflict, the game crashes... That is absolutely detrimental to the way this game should function.
Not a universal app, unlike rest of FF series
by Ik777 on 2015/10/07 15:20
Very disappointed in having to pay $15+ twice to be able to play FF3 on iPad and iPhone. This seems to be the only non-universal Final Fantasy on the App Store. Such a pity. Add to this the iOS 9 bugs and you end up with a colossal waste of money.
Keeps crashing

Can't finish
by framymcweasley773 on 2015/09/22 04:46
I was really enjoying this game until I got to the Crystal Tower...and upgraded to iOS 9. I can't use any inventory items without the game crashing, and any RPG player knows that it's IMPOSSIBLE to get through the last dungeons without access to the inventory. Great game but I can't finish it, extremely frustrating.

6+ (iOS 8.3)
by notknwn_ on 2015/09/03 01:01
SE's updates are always long overdue, which has definitely curbed my enthusiasm for their iOS titles. It would be nice to see the remaining SE titles optimized for the latest devices and coded for universal play (with iCloud support) as well.

by OcarinaBlue on 2015/08/25 05:35
I have had this up for a while now on my iPhone and the problem that I have occurred was from the future update where they have White Borders now which seems a little distracting while playing the game as well as the D pad virtual D pad that is is a little bit large in my opinion update this so that it fits the iPhone 6+ screen and get rid of the white borders tweak the D pad a little bit make it a little bit more less noticeable
If you missed the DS port 👌🏽

Graphically the same as the DS version, but streamlined for one screen. Gameplay came together really nice, and it was awesome that you didn't need friends to unlock Onion Knight Job 👍🏽
Lack of updates...

Nearly a year and no updates. Nasty multitasking crash bug when trying to resume the game. Wish SE would stop being lazy and fix some bugs...
Fix this please!!!
by wolfecom on 2015/05/15 13:04
I love this game and would give it 5 stars except that every time I get an alert on my phone the game restarts. This really is a pain when you have put an hour+ into a level and are fighting a boss only to have a reminder, or other alert pop up and find you are back at the title screen with all progress since last save lost after clearing the alert. I have not had this issue with other FF games on my phone. Please fix!

Great game, great port
by Albacoretuner on 2015/04/15 17:57
Spent 80 hours on this game over the last few months and it was well worth it. Possibly my favorite in the FF series apart from Tactics and Square Enix did a great job updating the animations for this iOS version. Apart from a minor issue where the game occasionally crashes from phone alerts / sitting idle, it worked very well. Save often and start preparing now to face the Iron Giant!

Great game - annoying glitches
by MrBurbles on 2015/01/08 22:11
I never played the Final Fantasy games when I was younger and they first came out state-side. On a whim (and looking for a way to waste time :) I downloaded the iOS port of FF I a couple of years ago. What a great game! And I could see why this series has endured for so long. FF II built on the first beautifully. Recently, I downloaded the 3rd installment. I really appreciate the shift to 3D, the great gameplay, fun story, tongue-in-cheek humor, etc. I haven’t been able to put it down since I downloaded it and that’s not something I can say about most games I try out from the App Store. The reason I’m not giving this a higher review is the fact that the game crashes so frequently. In the middle of a huge battle and get a phone call? Buh-bye; try again after the game quits to the Home screen and you have to wait through the splash screen and continue/load from a point before the battle. I see the game was updated in June of ’14 to address this sort of thing. But quite a lot has happened between then and now including iOS 8, iPhone 6/6+ and so forth. I think Square-Enix is a great game-making company. But they seem to follow what can be considered an old model: develop a game and release it into the wild for better or worse. It’s great they’re occasionally updating games to fix issues and bugs, but not nearly frequently enough for the ever-evolving iOS platform. To the best of my knowledge, FF I & FF II are still letterboxed for pre-iPhone 5 screens (3.5”). Likewise FF Tactics. And I paid over $10 each for these games! Yeah, the content and quality justify that cost, but not SE’s seeming lack of attention to their product. I still get attention and updates to apps I paid $0.99 or nothing for, years after their original release. Sure, they are usually (but not always) nowhere near the complexity and quality of the FF series, but I’m not left wondering if every update is going to be the last, forever stuck in 3.5” screen, 32 bit whatever. Please, Square Enix, continue to show love for your games. You’ve started to by re-releasing for different platforms, but we iOS gamers would love more attention to your ports!
Great game!
by PeppyGrace on 2015/01/04 02:08
I played the Nintendo DS version of this game a while back but never finished it, so I decided to pick it back up on iOS during a 50% off sale. Definitely worth it. All of the classic Final Fantasy games are a joy to play, so if you catch them on sale don't hesitate and get a few titles. You will be glad.
Love the game, but has some problems
by Chaosmouse on 2014/12/25 07:54
First off, I love this game and the control implementation is wonderful. That said, this game has a few things pushing against it: 1- two different versions of the game, one for iPad and one for iPhone. I purchased the iPhone one because it's compatible with both, but still that's kinda weak. I'd rather be able to access full resolution of my iPad instead of scaling it without having to buy the app again. Many developers have shown that this is possible. 2- price is a bit steep for an iOS app. 3- cloud saves I started on my iPad are not being picked up on my iPhone. No idea why this is but it is very unfortunate, kinda ruins the whole point of mobile gaming considering I want to play on any device any time. 3 stars because price for quality is a bit lacking. It makes a few promises that it hasn't backed up for me yet.
Help

I payed 17 dollars for this game and received a different game. I want what I payed for PLEASE RESOLVE THIS!!!
Separate versions are ridiculous.
by Xoediac on 2014/10/31 20:28
I purchased the handle that included this game not too long ago. This is the iPhone version, not the iPad version. I am not about to buy another version of this game to play it on the iPad. If I had known this I would never have purchased the bundle. Their other titles are available on both platforms once you purchase either, but not this one. Consistency seems to be an issue here. If you want this game on the iPad, then avoid this bundle.
Lost saved game
by Kkkrrreeetttttt on 2014/08/29 13:26
I may change this if I decide to play this one more time but the first two times I've played I stepped into a zone where things were too strong for me and I died. Quick save didn't save and for some reason nothing saved in my cloud when I saved. The inn didn't save either so for now 0/5 because if you can't keep your progress what is the point
Needs iCloud saves
by PWNR 149 on 2014/07/28 01:44
I love this game so much that even after losing my file on the final boss after updating my phone, I will still give it 5 stars. If you were thinking about whether or not to get this game stop thinking, and get it. SE just needs iCloud saves.
Best In the Series!

I'm a huge fan of Final Fantasy, and I think III is my favorite in the franchise. I've bought this app twice now (lost access to my last iTunes account) but I have no regrets buying it again. $16 well spent.
I am a final fantasy fan even final fantasy III
by Jacob*Fantasy on 2014/07/19 14:51
Final fantasy III is amazing RPG to have on iPad or iPhone. FF III is a first game that you can change to different jobs like black Mage, thief, white Mage or a warlock. There is lot more jobs to change to this is more similar to FF V even the fore crystals of light. You put icloud on this app too thank you square enix to put FF III on apps store.***** I would suggest that you guys should buy this game this is amazing game even other final fantasy series here on apps store. I'm promise you that this game is amazing.:-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

This game has had more than its share of bugs, but just as I'm about to give up on it, they release an update. I never got the chance to play the original release of FFIII or the NDS port so the price tag on the app didn't seem too steep. Like I said, there has been a lot of kinks in the works, but the developers are still releasing updates to address the issues. The game itself is brilliant and (hopefully, after this most recent update) flawless.
I love it

I love this one A lot more than the other final fantasy before #3 because of the jobs
Awesome game!!!

This is an amazing game. At first i was nervous about buying it but it was totally worth the money! I also think square enix should add final fantasy adventure to the App Store

AMAZING Game!!!
by JIm Schwarz on 2014/06/10 14:11
I have never played a game on a mobile device as fun as this! The game had such a long story and it felt like it would never end. When the story ended the game wasn't over because I could still try to level everyone up to maximum level and that was fun by itself. I can't forget to mention the onion knight. I have always been a fan of the onion knight, he is like the best character if u level him up. At times the game can get really hard, but the story is worth it. Does anyone else have any recommendations on which final fantasy game I should get next? I like how this was 3-D and I dont really like the 2-D ones...

This is the best game ever. I remember playing this on my ds. Ahh.. Memories
Good
by Pieman4357 on 2014/06/09 18:00
The game is just a port of the DS version so almost no work went into it and the beginning feels very unexplained but it does get better.
Thanks you!

Now perfect!
by Flowerlark on 2014/06/09 11:45
FFIII now has cloud save like DQ8?? My wildest gaming dreams have come true! This new feature makes an amazing game now PERFECT! The FFIII remake was the first DS game I owned, and while I never was able to beat the final boss (no saves in the final area made it too irritating), I loved every second. Then Square Enix did a stellar job of porting that DS game to iOS. Now that I can use the same file on my iPad AND iPhone now makes this one of my fave apps! Please add this feature to all your games, SE! Especially The World Ends With You.

How come you charge more for an app version than on psn also you guys charge more than rockstar for way smaller games than gta's
It's solid.
by Kasith on 2014/03/26 20:04
Been playing this game, haven't beat it yet, but I'm pleased to see that some of the DS content that had to be unlocked via mognet, is there for the taking without any multiple device nonsense, a thing that isn't mentioned, is you have to switch the characters around at the top slot to receive different mail. Remember that, so you don't miss out on some stuff. My personal gripe, is this game using the (previously) buyable soundtrack, the DS music did have a sort of Midi sound to it, but it flowed nicely with the game, and IMO, is superior to the soundtrack in this game. The frame rate in this game is also faster, this a plus, as it means the game isn't so laggy, though it makes the destruction of a boss, hard to somewhat savor, it's a minor thing however. Intro cutscene is lost, but oh well, those cutscenes were made for the dual screens of a DS, the graphics of this game do look sub par, but this was made for the original DS engine at the time, and it's received some enhancements for the iOS. All in all. Good game, pretty hard, however, but I like that, I'd give five stars, if it had at least gave an option to switch to the DS soundtrack.

Please.
L2R
by Selppaekili on 2016/07/22 22:27
The game is fine and good, don't listen to those souring over a "chapter" just because they don't know where to go to progress, then proceed to rate the game poorly based on their incompetence. There's no handholding here in this FF, you may wander into an area you shouldn't and get mauled or you may just not know where to go. This is one whole game and it is beatable, don't listen to the sourcats!
Good
by NoahHyrule on 2016/05/07 00:21

Great Run!
by Ryalfin_21 on 2017/01/16 19:23
I beat this game in 3 days after purchasing it for the IPhone 7. Runs beautifully and smoothly. Also, having a guide with this game is HIGHLY recommended. Final Fantasy 3 Wiki Guide really helped me get through the game (along with tackling the challenging side quests and bosses). Was super fun, challenging and unforgettable.

Loved this game on the DS, playing it again on iOS is lots of fun. I really wish they included that lovely opening film that was included in the DS version though. I understand this might make the file size bigger, but I absolutely loved watching that clip!

FIX. YOUR. GAME!!!
by P|$$3|) 0££ on 2019/09/15 17:42
The is a game-breaking glitch where if you die your first time through Nepto Temple, you are unable to re-enter the temple. You can go back, talk to every Viking in the cave and it makes 0 difference. The Enterprise is sitting in the water; there’s nothing I can do about it. I’ve bought a few FF games but things like this don’t give me much confidence that these games are well-ported.
Great Port
by AlkaidNova on 2016/11/06 07:12
Seems like a graphically cleaner port of the DS version. Controls are pretty smooth. Definitely a good pick for when you have a lot of time to spend.

I love how FF is the only franchise with the mental fortitude to make their games available for download as an app. It's a shame Pokémon or digimon won't do the same.
Good game, but NES original was somehow better
by Jonpennington85 on 2011/10/16 11:47
First off, to anyone who doesn't know how to save the game, I am dumbfounded by the fact that you somehow learned to read and write, let alone successfully write a review for this game. It really is impossible to be that stupid. You're just too lazy to spend one minute doing a google search. Secondly, this app shouldn't be 15 bucks. 4.99 is really what the game is worth. However, there are surprisingly few bugs in the game (on my iPhone 4 anyway). Never experienced a game crash. Controls function extremely well IMO. But I purchased this app a couple hours after downloading the Neill Corlett fan translation of the NES version. While I usually enjoy updates to old games more than the original, I surprisingly found myself drawn back to the original. While this version includes a lot that the NES version didn't, it seems to lack that certain "something" that the original has. Stick to the NES version unless you want a mobile version to play on the go and are part of the 10% of the human population that doesn't live in painful, abject poverty.
iTunes File Sharing

Hello, can you enable iTunes file sharing for this game? Great game by the way!
Doesn't save well
by alabgh)6 on 2018/09/01 04:42
Consistently the app doesn't save and if I go away from it and into another app, when I come back it refreshes to title screen and progress is lost. That's not how mobile games are meant to be played.
Needs an update
by Marsz_23 on 2019/03/09 15:01

Provides nostalgic gleam
by Jnoaha on 2011/12/19 03:16
In this remade popular game by square enix, you could master different weapons as you travel alongside your new found friends to adventures! Although the 3d is a great touch, the inability to save before a boss is tedious and whilst there is no objective lister in the pause menu, most of the time I have no clue where I am going or supposed to be going! Perhaps remake a game that is more understandable such as Final Fantasy X. But otherwise, there are many twists and turns that will come up such as enemies that turn up when opening chests, the enemy encounters inside buildings that shouldn't have them such as the left tower of the castle (why not put enemies on the other tower also?). And my personal favorite, being able to carry two weapons at the same time! This nostalgic game resembles one of the Nintendo ds, and although the structure of the game might be tedious at times, provides a addicting storyline that may dig you in deeper than you actually wanted to.
Square Enix pulls through again
by Cythe on 2011/06/10 06:35
another classic coming from Square Enix! when this app was first released i was really excited to see how they performed and they did good! Square Enix is absolutely world wide famouse thanks to there famouse Final Fantasy series. i must say that this game is great for road trips or when you just want to relax and play a game but i do have some issues with the game itself that in my opinion need some fixing. 1)the story line for this game sucked 2) the begining of the game is a little didficult just because your trying to level up without getting killed all the time but when ur patience is running thin because your such a low level that all you can kill are goblins who only give you 1expits really frusterating. these are the only two problems that i really saw in the game so far because other than those flaws the game is seemingly flawless and is allot of fun no matter your age or gender and i would recomend this game to anyone who is a fan of classic styled RPG games.
Wow
by erafferty on 2011/06/25 23:25
For people who actually know how to read: this game is fantastic. Assuming, of course, that when you went to the rpg section of the app store that you were actually looking for an rpg and not an action or first person shooter (hopefully if you can read you're not one of those people.) This game is good old fashioned turn based fun that actually requires a strategy and patience to beat. Everyone who is writing bad reviews has one of the same three complaints which have been addressed repeatedly and thus leads me to conclude that they cannot read and are likely too stupid for complicated games like this anyway. Just in case one of them learns the mysterious art of reading in the next few days: YOU CAN SAVE ON THE WORLD MAP and THE FIRST CREDITS AFTER THE DJINN ARE THE OPENING NOT THE ENDING CREDITS, STOP TURNING YOUR GAME OFF OR WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING. Thought maybe the caps would help people get it in their heads. The last is the iPad version and whatever. Finally please, please bring Final Fantasy IV soon. Cecil and Kain ftw.
Thanks for the effort!
by Promiceus on 2011/08/03 07:53
Thanks a lot for the effort Square! The game is beautiful and shows some classic jRPG to people who didn't play then. But that's all it has actually. The balance is pretty poor, a lot of characters are pretty useless, the story and leveling up is pretty straightforward and you'll have to do some annoying grinding a long the way, spiced by pretty long sequences (the FFII grinding is far more rewarding!). After playing through this I really understand why this game originally wasn't released outside Japan - because it simply was a poor game!:) The newcomers to jRPG genre should avoid this, or at least make sure it's not their first game. Hardcore jRPG lovers of course cannot miss the thing, but I doubt you'll be playing it for the second time. Some probably won't even finish this one - it gets soooooo boring in the end to level up high enough to kill the boss... But once again, it's good that Square does re-release all the classic FF titles for die hard fans and new comers. We're waiting for 4th and 5th! And if the 6th will arrive some day - that'll be a total blow out!
A dream for JRPG fans
by fluorescentbulbasaur on 2013/05/05 05:14
If you're not already a fan of turn-based Japanese RPGs, with their endless random battles and linear story lines, this game will not be likely to win you over. Despite the beautiful 3-d graphics, this plays like what it is: a traditional RPG from the late 80s/early 90s. As a longtime fan of the FF games, I have loved this port for the iPhone. I've put about 20 hours into it on my 4S running iOS 6 and haven't had any significant problems with crashes or data loss. The job system is pleasantly fleshed out and there are a lot of different potential party combinations, providing a lot of replay value. Bottom line: if you've played an enjoyed any other FF games, the Dragon Warrior series, Chrono Trigger, etc. this port is well worth the relatively high (for the App Store at least) price.
Third times the charm

Finally, it here! Something to use my hard-saved gift cards on. I been waiting for FF3 to come out since it was announced. Ive played the DS version and am just as anxious to get this one. FF3 gives alot in the way of exploring everything. From exploring the world, to finding hidden caves, to even exploring job options. Couple dozen classes are in this game from classic like White mage, Black mage, Warrior, Thief to new an interesting types like Geomancer, Scholar, Ninja, Sage and more. Each job has its own job level and nothing is lost when you switch. Certain enemies are weaker to certain types of job attacks. Explore your options. While the story isnt very deep it makes up with its vast gameplay. Graphics have been improved to retna quality. Even though the price is pretty high this is an equally high quallity game. Easly a 30+ hr game.
Instant Classic!
by tooanalytical on 2011/07/17 14:01
There's really is a reason why this game is priced as super premium; you will get what you pay for. This incredible installment in the FF series brings a spanning story, beautiful visuals for a mobile phone, and a job system to keep seasoned FF fans busy for weeks of play. Before embarking on your quest make sure you completely understand how game saves work in FF3. I've restarted several times because I didn't save correctly. But don't let that stop you from getting this game. Worth every penny, in my opinion, Final Fantasy III is the only game on the app store that has business asking for $10+ for a game; although I haven't completed Chaos Rings yet. So stop reading and treat yourself to the best Square Enix has to offer..until the release Chrono Trigger that is. ^_^
Final Fantasy rocks hard.
by Ogr8one on 2011/06/24 14:06
I love FF games and this one has let me enjoy killing endless hours on plane rides and road trips. This game seems endless at first, and even when you hit the end you can restart to try new classes or continue training to gather epic final weapons and fight the iron giant. And the graphics and music are AMAZING! ^_^ However, FFiii has been plagued by SOME people that can't FIGURE. IT. OUT. For those of you complaining about the save system, you can only save on the world map (and you get there right after the tutorial). And I don't even GET why some of you think the Djinn is the end--the credits don't mark the end, only the beginnig--try returning to the castle. If you STILL can't figure it out then try an online walkthrough. Oh, and FIX YOUR REVIEWS!!
Good! Wish I could fly the airship, though.
by CloudClimber on 2012/01/01 09:42
First off, I LOVE all the final fantasy games, and this one is pretty much awesome so far. Good graphics - much better than the SNES or DS version of the game. I am somewhat impressed with the ease of gameplay on the iphone, too. My only problem is that there isn't much of an instruction manual - the game has 'control hints', but isn't through enough for me. I got the invincible airship a few days ago and can't seem to figure out how to fly it over the mountains, and with the game being so new on iphone, no guides/iphone specific walkthroughs are really out. Anyway, I'll just have to wait to finish my game when others get this far and are able to tell me how to fly it. Otherwise, it's been awesome and I highly recommend.

its a wonderful game. i got lost where to go about 7 times in the game. besides that, its very challengin. my only problem i have now is that i made it to the last boss at least ( wastnt able to beat the game yet ) i was playin it on the iphone5. and now that i have the iphone6s, and i redownload the game so i can try to finish it, it tells me that i have NO data of the game and somehow icloud didnt save the game either even if i back up the fone and used icloud to save progress of my game making sure that i dont loose my data. Now i have to start from the begginin of the game ( which im not ) so i paid for the game just to end up restarting all over again??? any way for me to obtain my data?? its really unfair after playin the game for 3 months.
Final Fantasy=superb!
by Flashrim on 2013/12/14 02:02
Final Fantasy. If you say it, everyone hears. If you think it, everyone knows. Whether it be the age old Final Fantasy I, II, or III, in all their pixelated glory, or the more recent games on the market, Final Fantasy is truly a veritable masterpiece of RPGs. Taking place in the steampunk-style part of history, (with airships..airships..and hey, more airships!) Final Fantasy III defines the Role Playing Genre. In this case however, the gameplay isn't the only noteworthy aspect. The entire pixelated look has been revamped to a more modern, smooth look, leaving gamers satisfied. Graphics aside though, this Final Fantasy truly unveils it's gameplay perks when you look at the characters. Not only their story, but classes. The game boasts over 20 different classes, each with a style all it's own. Better still, you can switch jobs on the fly by tapping "Jobs" in the main menu. Leveling up jobs, finding new ones, and exploring towns in search of loot really is quite enjoyable. For any fan in favor of RPGs that stand the test of time, Final Fantasy 3 for IOS will keep your eyes glued, and your thumbs stuck firmly to the virtual joystick Square Enix has so thoughtfully provided.
FF3

So... Conclusion- awesome game that is hard to get into. In order to progress in the easiest way, you need to talk to every npc in town. The game does little hand holding as you try to figure things out. I spent quite a while trying to tackle caves I had no business being in, simply because my character didn't have the right sword!!.. Aggravations aside, the game is beautiful, and once combat is "fair" it has a great amount of depth and fun tweaks with the jobs of your party. Overall a good purchase. To save- you simply go to the world map, and click the menu button. Normally the save icon isn't available, but once in the world map you can save. Recommended to talk to every person in town to try to figure things out! Good luck.
It's solid.

Lovely remake of the original classic on the NES!
by AGS16 on 2011/12/29 12:35
First off: Those of you who think that this is the FFIII on the SNES have been mistaken. This is the REAL FFIII. The SNES one is actually FFVI! I have been fortunate enough to play the original FFIII on the NES via an emulator. It was a lot of fun and I learned about a lot of things that would later become prevalent in later games. I've gotta say, I'm likin' this new iOS version. The graphics are a lot sharper than the DS remake and the music sounds as wonderful as the original soundtrack. This app is quite pricey, but keep in mind that it will keep you entertained for 20+ hours. Get it while it's still on sale! Be sure to save often and level-grind often to make things easier. Totally worth the $12. :)
It's a real game.

Square Enix has been doing a great job putting these classic RPG's in the app store. This one has a lot of depth and immersion over the first two Final Fantasy games they've released. Yes, it would be nice to save at will since it is potentially on a phone but you get used to it and it doesn't break anything. If you know how to play this kind of game, or you give it a chance you should be more than happy buying this one. It's worth the cost. I'd be happier if it was a few dollars less but I'd rather spend the higher price on a real game with lasting appeal and re-playability than waste a dollar on something I won't bother with ten minutes from now. Really hope they do Chrono Trigger.
THIS IS NOT FF3 North America original release!
by JRobbPierino on 2012/01/15 17:19
I should have read the description, I assumed this was FF3 from the SNES here in North America, this is the original FF3 from Japan and the FF3 I thought is in fact FF6. No big deal this is a great game but still due to my ignorance, I am slightly disappointed, however I just finished playing tithe end after 30 hours. Yes I am happy. I even got all the master smith weapons and onion knight. I beat the game with level 72 guys (Ninja, Knight, Black Belt, and Dragoon with dual weapons and lvl 99 jobs) they did 9999 damage (well actually 10-20k damage) every time and non died and never had to heal. I thought the end battle would be hard! Now I think I'll try to beat the iron giant in the ??? Cave
Music cuts out sometimes.
by Gabriel Boyden on 2011/10/24 07:32
Ok so I was deleting some apps and I must accidentally deleted final fantasy iii. It didn't bother me to download the app one more time, I even had my save file from before. But not the music cuts out during battles and while walking through areas. This never happened before. It is a great game so I would like for this little problem to be fixed. I bring this to attention because the music is good and i dont mind hearing out without interruptions. One more thing, when i walk into the gnome village the app goes back to my main menu. Could u fix this as well? Other than these errors, thanks for an amazing app! I encourage everyone else to get this great game.
In General

I must say, the guys at Square Enix really outdid themselves by putting a game like this on a mobile port. Overall, this game is a good way to kill time should you have any. Well worth the money IMO. However, at 15 bucks, I could've bought the game itself online for this price. As far as FF4, 5, and 6 goes, I highly doubt they'll be able to do it. FF4 has voice acting in it, which means it's going to take a LOT of space. I heard they were barely able to port it for the DS let alone putting it on a mobile port? Right.... Anyway, grinding is a must for these games. The key to playing FF3 is consistency, stay on top of things and you'll come out on top!
