Opened it and got a political ad

After the first scroll down there it was: a political ad taking up the whole screen. Thanks.
Very Helpful App!
by DVille Dave on 2020/06/18 14:59
We’ve used GPSMyCity in Europe, USA, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. For us, the City Walks are most helpful. Otherwise we’d end up searching travel books and visitor information websites for hours. There are lots cities covered and, once downloaded, you no longer need internet coverage. There are other features, for specific attractions. We even use it around our local “home base” of San Francisco to find new areas to explore.
Discovery Walk - Could not get information on sites
by Frank Account on 2020/05/31 02:40
Today I got a three day trial subscription to the most expensive plan. My wife and I tried the discovery walk for the DUMBO section of Brooklyn, NY. I was able to get the walking route and the names of the sites. But no information about the sites themselves. Am I doing something wrong?
D.C. Walk Restored
by Jeff 'Teach' Dean on 2020/05/20 18:38
I bought D.C. and Vancouver individual maps. I used them for custom walks. I contacted the developer and they were restored using a promo code for the all in one app. Thanks it worked. I will enjoy traversing D.C. again. Jeffrey Dean

Chinatown
by NBeach Local on 2020/04/04 20:47
It is a bit difficult for me the be objective, as I am a local who is very familiar with San Francisco Chinatown. That being said, I think this is a very good tour for a first-timer, and I especially liked the articles that accompany each stop. Even I learned a thing or two! As for the app, it seems easy to navigate, so there was no problem there. The only criticism I have is with the navigation prompts. Hearing “turn left in 40 meters” repeat four times with each stop is unnecessary and rather unnerving. Would it be possible to change the prompts to just two times? Thank you for listening and keep up the good work! Sharon
Great App!
by azmoondog on 2020/03/27 17:42
Very easy to use, extremely useful, and fun! Love to build my own walking tours, and the App acts a guide. My #1 travel resource.
Very helpful and I am not techie

I really enjoyed this app.
Would Pay More $$ for More Options
by RobynKittah on 2020/03/17 19:33
While the app is cheaper than hiring a walking guide in each city, there should be more functionality to it. I downloaded it for one city and was only able to take one neighborhood walking tour. There were other neighborhoods available but only for sightseeing walks, which weren’t worth it. It felt a little lazy just to include pictures of famous landmarks and attractions without historical context. If I just wanted to look at pretty buildings I could Google that or look at Instagram. Seeing as though I was only able to do one neighborhood discovery walk, the app was not worth it to me, luckily I used the 3 day free trial. I would not be opposed to paying more for more tours within each city/having each sightseeing walk be a discovery walk. I did like the flexibility of having the tour read to me , but having an actual human read it versus an autonomous voice would be better as well as having easier access to the voice option.
iPhone battery died in 20 minutes
by kate22182 on 2020/03/16 20:42
This app uses battery power in your iPhone very fast. I started with 100 percent power and ended up with 10 percent in 20 minutes.
Poor integration
by Ness19dsm on 2020/03/14 15:09
Most intuitive and helpful feature missing - showing on the map your saved and bookmarked locations. How do they not have that? Utter frustration, waste of money and time
Useful app
by Gg123412341234 on 2020/03/13 02:09
I have used this app twice. The first time in Florence, Rome and Venice Italy and most recently in New Orleans. I found it a great way to navigate unfamiliar streets and make up a custom walk of things I liked.
App stuck in updating mode / worthless
by CityWalker1996 on 2020/03/03 19:49
My Trip to Portugal. Downloaded their apps for Porto and Lisbon. I selected walks and articles and downloaded to my phone. To get the map functionality I had to download another app GPSMyCity (aka The Full Version) and subscribe. I selected full year for maximum features. I did all of this before I left home one day before my flight. So when I arrive to my destination and try to access my downloaded features, all I got was a spinning “Updating” message. WHY!!!!!! aren’t they already downloaded? Not the worst though, updating never seemed to finished so I could not get past and even use the app. Happened in both cities and while i was connected to hotel Wi-Fi. I rarely leave app reviews and I prefer to leave a constructive comment for a poorly functioning app rather than a nasty one. But this app was so promising and delivered nothing when it counted. Owe me a refund and an aspirin.
Worst App Experience EVER
by Celluch44 on 2020/02/28 16:28
Not at all intuitive and the tutorial didn’t address any of the challenges experienced in the app. Spent the 2 bucks in hope that it would enhance the experience- Never could access after initial walk- spinning icon with indicating data loading but app never opened- just sucked up my data. Deleted. Good riddance.

Used to work but stuck in “refresh mode” - update
by flyairhost on 2020/02/24 05:29
Update — they have sent an update today and the app works excellent. Thank you!!! I’ve been using this app for over a year and love it. However, now is stuck in a “refreshing your subs” screen. The app is locked in this mode and won’t work. I tried deleting the app and re-installing it but it isn’t working. If anyone knows how to fix it is appreciated.
Eclectic traveler
by cwillis2 on 2020/02/23 16:02
Most city walking tours apps you are locked into stops and some don’t offer description of the sties. This app has articles and descriptions of sites. After deciding what sites to see you can create a custom map of your personalized walking tour. The app will take the sites you have selected and create a map that is most convenient.
Pretty great
by debberooni71 on 2020/02/23 05:09
I spent hours trying to map out a plan for a certain city and wished that there was some sort of app that would let you select the sites you wished to see and then would organize it into the most logical order along with a map and directions for walking. Ask and ye shall receive. Someone pointed me to this app and it’s exactly what I needed. I love the custom walks and the flexibility within them to add in personal locations as starting points such as a hotel or train station and the also the ability to reorder the locations of the automated order could be improved. A++
Love this app!
by meganbg13 on 2020/02/22 19:10
This app has been so incredibly helpful in my trips abroad! My husband and I used it when in Estonia, France, England, Finland, and Sweden. It helped us save a lot of money and data! I can’t recommend more!
Waste of time of money
by IPadderie on 2020/02/22 17:24
This app keeps crashing and take so much time to get out. I can’t imagine the frustration during the walk and it doesn’t work. Wanted my $19.
Great for Self-Guided Traveling!
by nckraft2020 on 2020/02/19 19:31
I love this app! My family and I have been using it for years and it is our go-to travel app anytime we travel to a new city. We love walking around and this app is a great way to get oriented with a city or just see the highlights if you’re only in town a day or two. The number of cities with walking tours in this app is huge! Plus there are smaller towns with tours too. The maps are incredibly helpful and the upgraded version is more than worth it for the ability to create custom walks etc. I love being able to change the starting location and having the app order sights to make the best route from that location. To upgrade each city costs less than a paper map and this app provides way more information. All the sights they suggest stopping at have a little blurb about the sight, which we have always found interesting. We like the flexibility of walking at our own pace and skipping sights that aren’t as interesting to us without having to fast forward the app or any other hassle that some self-guided tours have. Plus you can track your progress in the city so if you deviate from the suggested walking path, it is easy to navigate back to the next sight. Over the years of using this app, I’ve experienced a couple small glitches, emailed their help desk, and received a helpful and friendly response within a day from a real person, not a robot!, and they’ve fixed the issues immediately. I can’t recommend this app highly enough. If you like to walk around cities on your own, this app is a great mix of planning ahead and playing it by ear.
Transit info needed
by Hcivoyram on 2020/02/09 13:43
Why not include an option for public transit? I chose the starting sight on the walk I created to get directions to it so I could start the walk. I was given the option of walking, driving or biking directions. I want to take the metro!
Easy to use
by JBD4321 on 2020/02/09 13:27
Easy to use app, great for exploring new cities
Badly designed and limited content
by Luhmann on 2020/02/08 03:06
The app crashes a lot and needs to reload nearly every time it is launched. Moreover, the content isn’t as good as what you might find on Wikipedia or a free travel blog. Too bad, because it would be nice to have a good app like this.
Adore this app!
by Letudo on 2020/01/20 13:28
I downloaded this app a few days ago, and started using it to plan a multi- city trip to Europe. Wow! I love this app - it makes planning super easy. I’ve been traveling far and wide, both professionally and personally, for years. I’ve planned complex trips, and know how overwhelming it can get. So many places to see in so little time, and so sometimes tough to determine which sights to see, and the best route to take when sights to visit are scattered all over a city. Well, this app makes all of this easy, and fun! Great descriptions and photos of all sights, which ones are “must see sights”, ability to add your own sights (like your hotel). The app determines the best route and how long it will take you. There are tons of wonderful canned walks based on categories like “city overview,” “ museums,” “architecture,” etc. and the ability to create customized walks. If you love to travel, this tool will become an addiction. I tried the free version and then decided to upgrade to the full version because the route creation aspect is fantastic.
Very disappointed in app
by ajayhawkfan on 2020/01/11 03:28
I downloaded the Santa Fe walking trips and was disappointed. The historic walking tour did not include a number of historic churches and building but did include commercial establishments such as bars.
Confusing

Cannot download my route. Waste of time
Loved this!
by Mom to Wish on 2019/12/27 21:24
We decided to take a trip into Philadelphia at the last minute. We weren’t sure what we wanted to see and being able to look at the options was so helpful. We mapped several routes before settling on one that worked for us. We ventured off of the route a couple of times but it was super easy to get back to the next stop. I can’t wait to try on our next adventure! The hardest part is deciding where we want to go next!
Great app for traveling
by taylordr61 on 2019/12/12 02:03
I have been a user of this app for years and have used it around the world. Prior to buying the subscription I purchased individual maps. Much less than paying a tour guide and you can use it at your own pace. My wife and I love walking around new international cities and learning about places to see and visit. The maps are detailed and will track you around the city. You can also create your own custom walks. GPSmyCity is the first app we open in a new city for an orientation walk.
Fun!

Great info, not user-friendly
by Susan - Lansing, MI on 2019/11/20 14:51
Great city info and landmarks, but every time I changed screens or turned off my screen, I had to start from the beginning again. Ending my subscription and deleting.
Great Vacation Tool
by moyhdcs on 2019/11/15 13:29
I love this app now that I know how to use it. It took a day or so and watching the tutorials several times to get it, maybe I’m slow. I have planned exciting site seeing from my hotels in 4 different cities in Spain and 4 in Portugal. As a single lady traveling I don’t want to end up in any unsafe areas. I’m excited that it works without an internet connection which I don’t have overseas. It is a great tool and worth every penny.

Must purchase to get full function of maps
Previous edition worked much better for me
by HutchPM on 2019/10/21 15:40
I used a previous edition several years ago on a trip to Rome and the map and directions were much better. This edition froze up several times per day and the map was difficult to use. Previously I used this app for the entire day with this edition I did a lot of cutting and pasting to google maps. Also once the trip was built I found it difficult to change the order of places to visit. I was overall disappointed.

Good intro to cities
by User31057 on 2019/10/08 04:56
This app is great for learning my way around cities and just exploring by foot, which I always prefer to organized tours, buses, etc. The few extra dollars to unlock the real-time maps and tours is well worth it too. The map function is very reliable; I use it over even google maps for figuring out directions. This is also good for getting an preview of cities I might want to visit and explore, to see how close the sights are to each other, where might be some convenient locations to get a hotel in, etc. I’m glad I found this app, highly recommend! I do wish the app wouldn’t reload itself after a little idle time tho, makes me have to re-navigate back into my tour every time. But that’s the only thing I would change.

Doesn't work!
by 027363 on 2019/09/24 11:04
I've downloaded this app for my trip to Europe. I loved the idea of having an app that helped me to create an itinerary like Google trips used to do. This apps description mentions that it works offline which is absolutely not true. It will crash every time I'd use it without wifi nor data. When the app finally decided to start after the 5th time I opened it will just freeze. Complete worthless if you are trying to get information when you are out and about exploring the city you are at. I love the concept but I think this app still needs a lot of improvements ahead.
Locked content wasn't great; now can't find user
by Karcheng on 2019/09/24 10:33
Was hoping the locked content would include audio readings at least. Several destinations you don't even get more written content. You do get linked to additional scrubbed from the web articles though. Now that the trial is over, cannot log back into the app. Terrible
Always crashing

Could not get one tour to load on this app
Streets need to be transliterated into English

Money maker
by matthewRoderick on 2019/08/27 04:11
Got lured into buying city for 4.99 that I could have easily figured out in my own. And even if I had, it was a significantly being “tour”. Palm Springs has beautiful homes and architecture and I could drive myself around and see them. Also, one home on this tour was part of the art museum that would have cost $200 to see. You couldn’t even drive up to it. Waste of money.
Good except fo a major bug
by blanger on 2019/08/18 14:02
If your device has internet access, the app will attempt to access its server when it launches. This is ok, except for when the server is down. In that case the app is frozen, trying to reach the server. This is bad for an app that is supposed to run WiFi independent. A workaround is to put your device in airplane mode before launching the app, that will get you access to your stored city maps.
Way underwhelming
by Nick1aaa on 2019/08/17 18:18
So many things that could be better with this app. For example why not spend the time to research each place rather than give a truncated version of Wikipedia entry. Also the map feature does not work properly. I really hate it. Not worth it
Hardly works at all
by LynetteEve on 2019/08/15 13:09
The navigation turns on and off randomly. Some of the information is outdated. The phone keeps turning off while using the app and needs to be turned on again, causing me to lose my place on the tour. Some of the tours just show you some pictures and don’t tell you anything about the site. Sometimes the dot and fan that indicate where I am starts spinning around. The fan is too sensitive to body movement while walking and causes the navigation to change instructions over and over again. I wasted a morning of my vacation getting frustrated and not learning much. Also wasted my money on the app. The app is a great idea. It just doesn’t work very well.
Absolute rubbish app
by shashipr on 2019/08/15 12:49
I had high hopes for this app, but it completely disappointed me. I bought the subscription hoping to use it in London, Scotland and Ireland as it appeared to have a lot “content” for those cities. As I got this just before I left, I didn’t get a chance to fully review it. As I started using the app, it became obvious that the content was mostly for Wikipedia, announced by a robot voice! The gps navigation is a joke also. I was expecting something along the line of gypsy guides that let you walk around and talk when you reach a location. There is nothing more to gain by subscribing. Just use some of the other apps or Wikipedia. What a sham!
Ideal for independent travelers!
by CK Austin on 2019/08/13 07:31
This is the perfect app for independent travelers. We have stumbled all over Europe trying to piece together routes to what we wanted to see, & so often ended up exhausted & having missed something we walked a block away from. No more! GPSMyCity is unobtrusive, informative, & a real pleasure to use. We are leaving in a few minutes for a ‘custom walk’ we created in the App last night, to see more of the marvelous city of Prague. The app now knows our hotel location, everything we’d like to see, & has made us a route to follow. It’s the best!!
GPSed my cities!
by BearlyChatty on 2019/08/08 14:59
I have been using GPS My City for several years during my travels. I always check there once I've picked my destinations. We have saved a lot of money designing own city tours. Definitely geared to our needs! If I had only one travel app, this would be it! I'm very happy to have seen continued improvement over the years. A big upgrade was being able to fully download for international travel In the days of little or $$$ fees. The apps are now awesome! Full versions definitely rock! Way to go!!
Self walking tour
by lhhgrandma on 2019/08/01 04:08
It’s great that you can design your own walking tours on each city. Totally custom the way you want. I really like it
Outstanding
by Owasso81 on 2019/07/17 19:33
The App is easy to use. It provides an extensive list of sites and allows creation of self designed routes.
Horrible
by memell94 on 2019/07/17 05:15
This app is the worst I’ve used in a long time. Doesn’t really help exploring the city, you have to do all the reading yourself.
Not worth the money
by GiuseppetheRater on 2019/07/16 23:53
Voice directions are not accurate, and the voice is so low it’s hard to hear as you walk around. Text descriptions are not accurate. The text said that the 40 story Albany state administration building was the tallest building in the state. Tell New York City that! It uses up your battery fast! It used up my battery on my new iPhone 10 fast. You are better off using Google Maps or a number of free apps instead of wasting $4.99 on this. If I could get a refund, I’d ask for it.
High hopes but no gps
by Vvyivtyivtyuftyu on 2019/07/13 21:18
I loved that I could customize my walking tours but there are locations on the app that are out of business. It also did not have a gps locator do I needed to toggle between this app and a map app. Also the routes do not bring you back to your original location. Great concept but needs more work.
Could have been so much more
by tkiyak on 2019/07/13 16:09
I had great hopes for this app, and would not have minded paying for the annual subscription upgrade as I travel frequently. Unfortunately my test run in Bern was quite disappointing. First, if you switch to another app, the app resets. So switch to camera to take a picture and you have to start all over again. First you load the app again, then the city package, then load the tour all over again, and guess what? It did not track where you are in the tour so you have to figure out where you left last. Second, several of the points of interest were mismarked, some of them were a block or more away from where the map pointed to. Third, in between the points of interest, the maps seem to take you through the shortest route, but not necessarily the most interesting or picturesque street. Several times, I found myself in back alleys or empty streets that nobody else seemed to be on, even when the next street parallel was extremely crowded and much more pretty. As a result I ended up giving up. While second and third reasons are minor annoyances that you can work around, the first reason (the fact that the app completely restarts every time you switch to take a picture) is unforgivable. UPDATE: I appreciate that the developer took time to respond. Hopefully that's a sign that some of the problems mentioned in my review can be resolved. On the issue of background apps: at the the, I was running only three apps, Google Maps (because of my frustrations with GPSmyCity), GPSmyCity, and ProCamera. There were no other background apps running, as I regularly close all background apps (despite Apple's recommendation to not do that for performance reasons). So I don't think that was the reason.
Indispensable!
by Kwirky 100 on 2019/07/13 13:40
During my trip to Copenhagen, I used the paid version of GPS my city for getting around. It was easy to find attractions and to also save other places I wanted to visit. Probably the best feature, since it was made mainly for walking, is that there is a cone showing what direction you’re going. That way it was easy to tell if I started out the right way. The suggested walking tours were OK. Overall, it made my life easier and my trip pleasant!
Great functional and helpful app
by bvviews on 2019/07/12 08:09
Very useful app that always worked! Downloaded and discarded several others for lack of functionality—-not this one. Used it as a starting point for seeing sights, and also just as information to look up something we stumbled across. Yes, all of this you can do with Google, but for basic sightseeing of all the most important sites, this app can’t be beat for convenience, accuracy and quick access to info. Plus you can’t always access WiF, this you already have. Especially great if you end up somewhere with a bit of time, want to use it to see something, but don’t want to waste a lot of time to have to plan a route. Perfect for business travel in that sense, or long layovers. We found info about tickets and etc to be correct, too. Added bonus!
Amazing
by Omair-1975 on 2019/07/11 10:48
Don’t look at the negative reviews . This is hands down the best city exploration app on the market . It is good for a single day stay in a city and for those who want to second a few days . You can read about places , get address information , make your own walks . It makes walking tours extremely efficient . Try it and you won’t regret it .
Disorganized, lacking menus, Scotsman narration?
by Bytemetoo on 2019/07/09 11:23
I don’t know where to begin—literally. There is a customary and expected START button for map apps. Not here. Seems silly to make it so difficult to find the upgrade menu so that you have gps functions. All I can tell you is it is not where the diminutive help page tells you. The English video guide is presented in a difficult to understand accent—Scottish, maybe? Nice concept, badly in need of professional UI designer.

Issue Resolved, Used in Carcassonne
by John3998YF on 2019/06/26 20:58
There were problems at first, but the Support quickly fixed them. This was a good app to explore the medieval city of Carceconne. It provided walks in and outside the city walls. The walks were scenic, through parks and pedestrian bridges and back into the city.
App was of no value
by RfR71 on 2019/06/25 15:42
I download the app, paid for a subscription to the city of Assisi, Italy map. Once we arrived and tried to navigate to a plaza by the app it was worthless. It was confusing, slow, and not helpful in identifying the direction we were moving. We resorted to asking directions for a local resident to the tourist store where we obtained a paper map. Never went back to the app again.

I subscribed to this as I am traveling to Japan shortly and wanted to plan some city walks. The app is extremely difficult to use. There is no continuity in the points on the various walks and all of the maps are in Japanese. Whilst I would love to learn the language it doesn’t help me in this instance. I also tried the customized walks feature but the search facility could not find even the most popular tourist attractions. Thankfully the easiest thing about this app is cancelling the subscription! Forget this app, do a little research, and plan your own walks.
Must have travel app
by World Traveler from LA on 2019/06/13 21:10
I’ll never travel without this app again! It lets me take city walking tours to the places I choose on MY schedule and at MY pace. Cost is far less than the tours I used to take whenever I traveled. Also guides me to restaurants, shopping, etc effortlessly. And when I had a question, the customer service was helpful and far faster than any I’ve ever experienced. I Love This app
Don't work
by Hernamebreezy on 2019/06/13 05:08
Tried using it around my city, kept saying I'm not in the area. Been trying to find upgrade button nowhere to be found. Won't let me use the GPS when I click on it. It's basically just an app that you look at. Hopefully developer can help before I leave for my trip.
Best application

This app suits anyone who likes traveling. The app guides travelers through city sightseeings and at the same time gives an autonomy to choose or change the routes. I used this app during my travel in Belgrade, Rome, Florence, Stockholm and absolutely satisfied with the product.
Endless cycle of frustration
by U.S. Consumer on 2019/05/23 08:50
The App is fine in the rare instances that it works. Purchased for a trip to Greece in March. Would not let me download maps insisting I had to purchase the app. The Restore function didn’t work. Developer got it working and I was able to use it in Greece. Currently used in May in Portugal and the Czech Republic. Now can’t get out of the endless cycle of being told to Purchase in order to download cities in Austria. The app is probably fine if you have an unlimited phone and data plan and lots of free time while traveling. For me the effort just isn’t worth it anymore. Picked up a Rick Steves book for the area and it works every time I open it. This app has potential but the fact that it has a “Restore” option built in tells me this is a perpetual problem with this app. I would recommend passing on this one and trying one of the other apps or just get a book.
Simply Doesn’t Work
by donco6 on 2019/05/06 03:38
Bought this for a visit to AMS. I’m here now and it is utterly useless. No mapping feature at all. Just shows a blank screen when you tap an attraction. And, yes, I downloaded the upgrade and the “offline” maps. Don’t waste your money.

Excellent App
by Dan___L on 2019/04/24 04:27
It’s easy to use and has the offline GPS feature. It’s definitely worth the money as I paid about $12.95 to use the app to use in Milan, Vienna, Budapest, and Amsterdam for my 12-day trip to Europe. I used the app to pre-plan my trip and used it when I was on location by following the location I marked previously. Advice: Book your hotel AFTER you have marked the places you want to visit with this app so you can book a hotel close to where you will visit. I used the app together with Google Map which tells me what transportations I can take between locations, including walking, taxi or public transportations.
Really Wonderful App
by NLVW on 2019/04/23 15:34
We are constant travelers and have used this app in so many cities around the world. It is more than worth the cost with great navigation, really insightful suggestions, and up to date information. Those whole claim that Google Maps is its equal are wrong. This is not just a navigation app; it is meant to give details about culture, history, architecture, bars, restaurants, and every other aspect of visiting a city. It is our “go to app” when we first arrive in a new city. The walks are complete and informative. You get way more than you pay for with this fabulous app. Don’t hesitate.

I travel to some pretty out-of-the-way places, and I’ve found GPSMyCity to be a great substitute for carrying around guidebooks or having to bookmarks lots of travel blogs. I’ve used pre-set routes and Ive created my own. I’d recommend this app for any frequent traveler.

In my life I have now purchased Two apps. AnyList and GPS My city. GPS my city is amazing. It’s locating or tracking feature is better than google maps. We used it for the first time in Strasbourg and it was perfect. Can’t wait to use it in Heidelberg tomorrow. All travelers need this app.
Superb travel guide
by Hannah1133 on 2019/04/01 13:58
I visited Kraków Poland for the first time with my daughter. We thought it would be ideal to have a self-guide in an app to use so we could go on our own schedule to visit sites, and not be limited by the schedule of a regular local guide. I found the GPSmyCity city app and set up a tour in several parts of the city. It worked wonderfully and we had a great day. It really allowed us to go to the sites, learn about them from the description in the app, but also stop in any little shop we found along the way. It has made me think that it is much easier to get to know a city. I am going to use it for my own city of Boston. I highly recommend it even if someone is going to work with a local guide. And I thought the cost to purchase all the data for a city was very reasonable for just 4.99. I did not have any ads to worry about and the app just worked great.

This app is a great way to see a new city or explore one you think you know well. I’ve learned so much! And, you can download the map so you’re not using data as you walk. I especially like the “must see” suggestions!

Required updates
by TD127345 on 2019/03/11 00:30
Every time I opened the app, even after I upgraded to the paid version, I was notified that the app was out of date and required a 16 Mg update. That’s bad enough on wi-fi but an app killer when you are on the street and on cellular data. I am uninstalling this immediately.

Best Travel App Available!
by SparkyDog2004 on 2019/03/05 23:30
My husband and I have been traveling for over a year and have been to 36 different countries. GPSmyCity has been our personal tour guide during a lot of our trip. It has been fantastic to tour different cities at our own pace and without the cost of hiring a tour guide. With the built-in walking maps with audio that can be downloaded and used without WiFi, it's easy to get around any city. I also love the different articles to find out about things to do before we arrive to a new destination. Can't imagine traveling without this app and have recommended it to many of my friends and people we meet along our travels.

I have used this app many times when traveling to different countries. I generally review and download the articles in advance of the trip. Then.....when in the travel location I can click a "go there" link in the article and the GPS kicks in telling me how to get to a particular point of interest.

Best walking maps

I have used this app to plan my visits to a new city and to map out a walk around the town. You can download the cities you will visit so you do not need wifi connection. After your trip you can release them from memory and load your next set. My favorite feature is the custom walks. Here you can setup what you want to see in the order you want to see it. I have used it in Spain for Madrid, Seville snd Barcelona. I have also used it in Italy for Venice and Rome. Our next trip will be a month seeing Frankfurt, Oslo, Bergen, Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen. Happy travels..

My absolute best sightseeing app - you owe t to yourself to give it a try!
by TSD04 on 2019/01/10 10:11
Dear Tobin, I have used GPSmyCity all over the world - it is the best app to use if you like charting your own way through destinations. Walk categories are arranged to appeal to those with varied interests and you can also set up custom routes. This is my must have app for my travel! I have used this app in over a dozen different travel destinations from Kuala Lumpur to Lucca to Copenhagen. I no longer travel without first looking to see if there is a city maps and walks edition for the city I am traveling to. The app provides so much flexibility to set your itinerary, allowing you to select only those things that you wish to see. The maps are accurate and the app will establish the most efficient walking route based on the points of interest selected. Try it once, you will love it.

These are some of the all-time best guides to navigating cities I’ve ever used. The last city I visited (1 month) was Istanbul, not a particularly easy city. GPSmyCity guide Was invaluable for maps, restaurants, the sites I did not want to miss and great entertainment and stories of the surroundings. The guides are easy to use and very accurate. I won’t hesitate to take them everywhere I travel.
Google Maps is better- and free!
by travlwize@60 on 2018/12/26 20:09
This App costs $$. And once you purchase it continues to have you make more purchases! Would not recommend. Learn how to use Google Maps and you can do the same things for free! And now that I want to cancel after using it for 3 days I can not find where I can do so - not easily! When I’m home from travels I will make sure I cancel this service. My daughter used google maps along side me using this app and she was able to navigate it faster with accessing more info quicker than I could, since I was prompted to buy more. My recommendation- use & learn google maps!
Cheaper than a guided tour
by Epheumsirc on 2018/12/18 05:38
Okay, I see some negative reviews about the map and the clunky app, but I have to say for the price, and yes, including the new yearly subscription, it’s still very worth it. I have used 6 of the paid tours and a few free ones with GPSmyCity. I started with the free, but when I paid for the upgrades (less than $5 at the time), I was pleased. Because I travel at least once or twice a year, I’m willing to pay the subscription mainly to support the team. I just recently came back from Florence where my wife and I spent over $200 for a private guided walking tour that included a fantastic lunch. No complaints, the guide was great and we learned a lot, but it was only 4 hours long and we were at his mercy. For less than $20 using this app, we would’ve been able to map out the tour we wanted, read in advance, and take our time. Yes, you can use Google and Pocket Earth and other free tools, but come on - for $20 you can get a well organized and fun tour with a pretty decent offline map. Spending hundreds in flight and hotels, I don’t $20 for something that would cost 3 times or more for a true guided tour. Oh, and the support team has been awesome for times when I did have problems with the app. I’ve been using them for years and will continue to do so. Don’t let the few negative ads steer you away - give it a shot...

by Jersey KeithO on 2018/11/26 12:56
GPSmyCity is worth the upgrade. This is the best app so far for the adventurous, self-guided traveler. I am just discovering the apps full potential. We used the app for the first time on a two week vacation in Israel and Greece (Tel Aviv, Athens and Santorini). The city orientation walks and city walks were particularly useful. The walking apps work offline, unlike Google and Apple, and bring you through many local areas so you can start a tour from where you actually are. The text to audio narration made it possible to actually enjoy the attractions rather than having your nose buried on/in your phone. We visited The Bouzouki Shop in Athens and chatted with the owners. They were pleasantly surprised that they were included in the city orientation tour. A great vacation and experience.

Chinatown
by NBeach Local on 2020/04/04 20:47
It is a bit difficult for me the be objective, as I am a local who is very familiar with San Francisco Chinatown. Sharon

Ask and ye shall receive. Someone pointed me to this app and it’s exactly what I needed. I love the custom walks and the flexibility within them to add in personal locations as starting points such as a hotel or train station and the also the ability to reorder the locations of the automated order could be improved.
Great app for traveling

I have been a user of this app for years and have used it around the world. Prior to buying the subscription I purchased individual maps. Much less than paying a tour guide and you can use it at your own pace. My wife and I love walking around new international cities and learning about places to see and visit. The maps are detailed and will track you around the city. You can also create your own custom walks. GPSmyCity is the first app we open in a new city for an orientation walk.
Way to go!!

This app saved my life!
by Teepher on 2018/11/18 15:42
I found myself in Venice (one of the most confusing cities I’ve ever been to) and needed to find my way around on my own. I have no sense of direction and often get lost in my own home town. This app was so handy. I was able to customize my route and see everything on my list without getting lost in the city! I highly recommended this app!!
Amazing
by Omair-1975 on 2019/07/11 10:48
Don’t look at the negative reviews . This is hands down the best city exploration app on the market . It is good for a single day stay in a city and for those who want to second a few days . You can read about places , get address information , make your own walks . It makes walking tours extremely efficient . Try it and you won’t regret it .
Very helpful when traveling
by gary travels on 2019/03/05 14:12
I have used this app many times when traveling to different countries. I generally review and download the articles in advance of the trip. Then.....when in the travel location I can click a "go there" link in the article and the GPS kicks in telling me how to get to a particular point of interest.

Most city walking tours apps you are locked into stops and some don’t offer description of the sties. This app has articles and descriptions of sites. After deciding what sites to see you can create a custom map of your personalized walking tour. The app will take the sites you have selected and create a map that is most convenient.
GPSmyCity
by yoç on 2018/12/30 07:47
These are some of the all-time best guides to navigating cities I’ve ever used.
Sounds great but a big letdown.
by Mikeatcut on 2019/06/18 14:40
I subscribed to this as I am traveling to Japan shortly and wanted to plan some city walks.
Very useful with responsive customer service
by singnt on 2019/03/19 22:41
I have lifetime access and have found this app to be very useful. Travel articles are a great read. Downloading of maps and city walks is straightforward. I have had to get customer service help and I have found them to be responsive and timely.
I never buy apps
by Cutter112 on 2019/04/06 15:50
In my life I have now purchased Two apps. AnyList and GPS My city. GPS my city is amazing. It’s locating or tracking feature is better than google maps. We used it for the first time in Strasbourg and it was perfect. Can’t wait to use it in Heidelberg tomorrow. All travelers need this app.
Best walking maps
by George Feb on 2019/02/18 17:49
I have used this app to plan my visits to a new city and to map out a walk around the town.
Best application
by scholarNYC on 2019/05/24 19:05
This app suits anyone who likes traveling. The app guides travelers through city sightseeings and at the same time gives an autonomy to choose or change the routes. I used this app during my travel in Belgrade, Rome, Florence, Stockholm and absolutely satisfied with the product.
Great for the road less traveled
by PalmTreeMusings on 2019/04/19 11:06
I travel to some pretty out-of-the-way places, and I’ve found GPSMyCity to be a great substitute for carrying around guidebooks or having to bookmarks lots of travel blogs. I’ve used pre-set routes and Ive created my own. I’d recommend this app for any frequent traveler.
Fun way to tour
by DorothyLouise on 2019/03/26 13:09
This app is a great way to see a new city or explore one you think you know well. I’ve learned so much! And, you can download the map so you’re not using data as you walk. I especially like the “must see” suggestions!
Superbly Useful
by johnnyrator on 2019/02/25 22:22
We used this app extensively during a recent trip to Southern Italy. Getting around unfamiliar territory was a breeze with GPSmyCity. Even better was the ability to set locations. This allowed us to pre-plan a lot of routes and saved enormous amounts of time and trouble.
Money maker
by matthewRoderick on 2019/08/27 04:11
Got lured into buying city for 4.99 that I could have easily figured out in my own. And even if I had, it was a significantly being “tour”. Palm Springs has beautiful homes and architecture and I could drive myself around and see them. Also, one home on this tour was part of the art museum that would have cost $200 to see. You couldn’t even drive up to it. Waste of money.
Keep the greatness coming!!!

This app is great if you are traveling to cities you are unfamiliar with and want to see the sights. The app will create a walking map that will take you to the sights you want to see. Really fantastic!!!

Chinatown
by NBeach Local on 2020/04/04 20:47
It is a bit difficult for me the be objective, as I am a local who is very familiar with San Francisco Chinatown. Sharon

Easy to use

Loved this!
by Mom to Wish on 2019/12/27 21:24
We decided to take a trip into Philadelphia at the last minute.
GPSmyCity is the first app we open in a new city for an orientation walk.

by Susan - Lansing, MI on 2019/11/20 14:51
Great city info and landmarks, but every time I changed screens or turned off my screen, I had to start from the beginning again.

Money maker
by matthewRoderick on 2019/08/27 04:11
Got lured into buying city for 4.99 that I could have easily figured out in my own.

Not good
Sounds great but a big letdown.
by Mikeatcut on 2019/06/18 14:40
I subscribed to this as I am traveling to Japan shortly and wanted to plan some city walks.
I Love This app

by Hernamebreezy on 2019/06/13 05:08
Tried using it around my city, kept saying I'm not in the area. Been trying to find upgrade button nowhere to be found. Won't let me use the GPS when I click on it. It's basically just an app that you look at. Hopefully developer can help before I leave for my trip.
Best application
by scholarNYC on 2019/05/24 19:05
This app suits anyone who likes traveling. The app guides travelers through city sightseeings and at the same time gives an autonomy to choose or change the routes. I used this app during my travel in Belgrade, Rome, Florence, Stockholm and absolutely satisfied with the product.

Every time I opened the app, even after I upgraded to the paid version, I was notified that the app was out of date and required a 16 Mg update. That’s bad enough on wi-fi but an app killer when you are on the street and on cellular data. I am uninstalling this immediately.

Best Travel App Available!

Love these walks!

Athens, Santorini and Tel Aviv
by Jersey KeithO on 2018/11/26 12:56
GPSmyCity is worth the upgrade. A great vacation and experience.

by bvviews on 2019/07/12 08:09
Very useful app that always worked!
Chinatown
by NBeach Local on 2020/04/04 20:47
It is a bit difficult for me the be objective, as I am a local who is very familiar with San Francisco Chinatown. Sharon
Athens, Santorini and Tel Aviv
by Jersey KeithO on 2018/11/26 12:56
GPSmyCity is worth the upgrade.
Really Wonderful App
by NLVW on 2019/04/23 15:34
We are constant travelers and have used this app in so many cities around the world.
Transit info needed
by Hcivoyram on 2020/02/09 13:43
Why not include an option for public transit? I chose the starting sight on the walk I created to get directions to it so I could start the walk. I was given the option of walking, driving or biking directions. I want to take the metro!
Way to go!!
Loved this!
by Mom to Wish on 2019/12/27 21:24
We decided to take a trip into Philadelphia at the last minute.
Amazing
by Omair-1975 on 2019/07/11 10:48
Don’t look at the negative reviews .
GPSmyCity
by yoç on 2018/12/30 07:47
These are some of the all-time best guides to navigating cities I’ve ever used.
Sounds great but a big letdown.
by Mikeatcut on 2019/06/18 14:40
I subscribed to this as I am traveling to Japan shortly and wanted to plan some city walks.
Very useful with responsive customer service
by singnt on 2019/03/19 22:41
I have lifetime access and have found this app to be very useful. Travel articles are a great read. Downloading of maps and city walks is straightforward. I have had to get customer service help and I have found them to be responsive and timely.
Money maker
by matthewRoderick on 2019/08/27 04:11
Got lured into buying city for 4.99 that I could have easily figured out in my own.

Tour Guide in Your Pocket

This app is great if you are traveling to cities you are unfamiliar with and want to see the sights. The app will create a walking map that will take you to the sights you want to see. Really fantastic!!!
