Lots of fun!
by Cindybvg on 2020/07/04 20:32
The only thing I would like to see is an option to put text on just one slide rather than the whole video section that I’m doing. Other than that, it’s awesome!

Ok for editing but very slow
by StormieWolfie on 2020/07/04 18:26
It’s super slow, I tried to purchase a membership but it kept loading for ten minutes and didn’t do anything, tried 3 times but eventually gave up, other than that it’s pretty good for editing.

You have to pay to save a video
by I am ava❤️ on 2020/07/04 15:50
This is an amazing editing app but the only thing is that you have to pay to save the video that you edited! At least you can do a 7 day free trial but seriously?! They really need to improve this!

Easy to Use!
by icarlyohio on 2020/07/03 16:24
Great app with easy to use features! It’s easy for a new user to pick it up and edit video clips, add text, effects etc. My only qualm is that the free version only lets you add text, but you have to do the paid version to even change the color of it. Adding just a few more features to the free version would make this more fair, then this app is perfect!
Great For Editing Videos

BEWARE “FREE” TRIAL
by fhhgfeefbniu on 2020/07/03 00:38
You stole my money, and I want a refund immediately. I signed up for the 1 week free trial, then $2.99 an month today. I used your app to make two videos. I decided that skipping the simple step of uploading my videos to my computer is NOT worth $3 a month. So I canceled my FREE TRIAL the same day. No “we’re going to process payment 24 hours before your trial ends” as you say in the description section. This was less than an hour from sign up and canceled.

It coast money to save and to get pro Verizon of this and coast money to add filters and coast money to add music and coast money for everything and also to change the name of that video or picture your taking.
I thought it was free.
by yessanity on 2020/07/02 14:59
i just got a new phone and downloaded Splice because it was my go-to "free" editing app. i loved using the music and effects, why do we have to pay! i'd rather have ads than pay monthly. a lot of us are broke because of this quarantine. yeah $3 a month isn't much for some people but some of the users are even kids who's parents don't wanna pay for this. could be better

Sound bug
by 12345coo11per112 on 2020/07/02 06:39
Great app until you place an adjournment file over a video. No matter how you adjust it, fade in, fade out, split, it forces the the volume of the audio to be 100% of the audio file. You cannot change it, you can adjust it to 0 and the audio stays the same level.
Easy, fast and Simple

There perfect combinations when wanting to do a quick video. Love the simplicity and easy that it is to do a video while maintaining a great quality

by dhfslygSggeadsvttsx NOOO on 2020/07/02 05:24
This was my favorite app. It helped me express myself in a multitude of ways, until you decided to make things that were previously free, ‘pro’. If you would’ve just added new features and kept the rest free I would’ve actually paid, but instead I LOST my animations that I’ve been working on because of this pro update. HOURS OF WORK, LOST. No WAY am I paying for the pro version after that.

Great
by MaxAurelius on 2020/07/02 01:25
The app is great and everything is very reasonably priced. The only thing I think is unreasonable is that the transitions are premium membership. Transitions are very important and iMovie offers them for free, so until transitions are free I’m using other apps
It’s good

Audio keeps glitching
by Vincent Kudrna on 2020/07/01 16:46
We love this app, but lately whenever we make a cut in our video to edit a particular segment the rest of the audio in our video after the cut does not line up properly! Especially if we add a song. PLEASE fix this bug as we pay weekly for the pro subscription and it is frustrating to have to keep exporting our video each time we make a cut!

Ruined for no reason.
by Creepexx3000 on 2020/07/01 08:10
The latest “update” ruined the entire app on phone. Countless features that made Splice better than iMovie were removed, so now there is nothing that makes this better from iMovie. You can’t rearrange clips, you have an option of less than half the sound effects and music from before, you can’t edit clips, you can’t do anything that iMovie can’t do. Please fix this app. You are ruining my life. Update: wow. They actually made it worse. Incredible? Yes. Total bs? Absolutely. Its as if the devs made a perfectly reasonable and functional application, got people hooked, and then said “Nyeh heh heh! Let us now put a paywall in the app, limiting users to the bare minimum of video editing! What will we add, you ask? Hmm, let’s see. NOTHING!!! Johnson, get my Lamborghini, we’re going to Vegas to spend all the hard earned cash these poor, tortured souls made up just for us! Why should I make new and innovative features for the people to love when I can just make them pay for what they already have?! NYEH HEH HEH! WHOOO! EA GAMES!” Despicable. Even EA games gives you things you pay for. This is by far the worst application on the entire AppStore.

by p-yidoo on 2020/06/30 23:22
Audio doesn’t match up with video, so when someone speaks, the words don’t match with the lips... super annoying
Not bad but not free
by SscC188898 on 2020/06/30 22:59
I got this app a long time ago and I wanted to see if it was still a great app. I thought that everything was free, until I opened the app to learn that half the stuff is under a paid subscription. If only a couple of features like adding special filters was pro but simply changing the text font needs to be pro. I am not very happy with this approach to this app and I hope the the pro features turn free.
Awesome
by fiojkmnji on 2020/06/30 22:56
Grateful for it
This app USED to be good
by tiajohnshonla on 2020/06/30 22:39
Ever since this app got updated, basic features such as changing text color and changing font have become pro features. Meaning you have to pay for the basic features that are free on other apps. There’s a VERY limited amount of editing you can do if you are using the free version. Previously, all the basic features used to be free but the updated splice charges for every little thing which makes it a useless app and keeps it from standing out.... ALSO, the app also crashes MULTIPLE times while being used and it is quite frustrating to be in the middle of editing and the app crashes for the 4th time!!!
It’s honest.
by AdrianM_95 on 2020/06/30 22:20
So I got the 7 day free trial but, I’m thinking about keeping the subscription. The Splice app did everything that I hoped it would do. The best part about it is that it was so easy to use and make changes. Definitely earned it’s 5 stars!
Bruh..
by Rtyhhhyhhgg on 2020/06/30 22:10
I have to pay for every5ing I do. I don’t even care if there is a water mark. But I’m not gonna sit here and pay 3 dollars for something I could just do for free. 😤

by taekook1334 on 2020/06/30 18:30
Do you have to pay for everything like why if you want to add music you have to pay for it if you want to add cool edits you have to pay for it I don’t understand it’s just music I so download this app if you have money👎👎👎

by LeeAppDev on 2020/06/30 16:46
I tried another app but I got stuck in commercials for other apps and had no way of getting out and back to editing. This app is simple and easy. At 2.99 a week you skip all of those ads and it was effortless beyond my imagination. I’ll definitely use it again.

by Professor Tau on 2020/06/30 12:38
I love everything this app has to offer, but I’m constantly frustrated with the app crashing and having to start projects over because they won’t load. I’ve done everything from clear storage to importing media clips one at a time. If the crashing stops, this easily gets 5 ⭐️.

Very good at making slideshows and video compilations, however it is a little glitchy sometimes. Other than that great app!
I used to love this app.
by Raven_PG on 2020/06/29 23:30
I bought this app before it went into premium. Now I can barely edit without an item that used to obtainable before the switch. It keeps shutting off even with the premium. I don’t have enough money for any of the options for premium and it upsets me because I used to hold this app to such a high standard. I used to tell my friends to get it if they want to begin editing and to see where it is now is disappointing. I’m currently using the app for an edit I am working on but after I don’t think I’ll turn to the app as I used to. So disappointing.

Spent a lot of time editing my video and won’t let me save
by taylorsmith2010 on 2020/06/29 16:32
Every time I try to save the video, it prompts me to signup. Okay, that’s fine. I was going to anyway. But when I click for my free trial or to signup, it gives me an error code and doesn’t allow me to do so. So I basically wasted 2 hours of my life on something that won’t work properly. I won’t be purchasing this app since I have had problems from the get go. I’m disappointed because everything else seemed relatively user friendly!
Good but far from Great
by Forest Gump103 on 2020/06/29 16:08
It lags every single time I get on there and crashes every time I try to save the finished product. If you could improve the quality of editing and fix these major glitches I would give 5 stars.

I had this app for years editing all my workout videos for Instagram. It was initially a free app and great in almost every way. I rarely had issues with it glitching. I went to update it and couldn’t save a video without paying $2.99/week. It would have been nice to have been grandfathered in for free but good things eventually come to an end. It’s not worth the subscription price unfortunately.

i’ve had this app for a while and i’m shocked that there’s no ads or content to pay for. it is a genuinely good app that i’ve used to edit many videos. my only minor complaint is the fact that videos go missing when they are deleted off the device, but usually that doesn’t happen till i have the finished, edited video on my device anyway.

IVE HAD THIS APP FOREVER AND LOVE IT
by Awesome a dawg on 2017/05/21 02:31
These are the kind of apps that trump whatever generic app apple makes you have from the start. imovie is fine and all, but personally, my go to is always splice. I can edit videos super quick, and I love the fact that it comes with free music and sound effects. I've had this app for years and never run into a problem with it. I decided to write a review now because more people should know about it. It has everything imovie offers AND more. I don't think you can detach the audio though, but personally, detaching the audio in imovie always ends up as a disaster. The "and more" and best thing in my opinion is that you can add text, make it any size, choose from fun fonts, choose from a variety of colors, and pinch and place it however you want on the screen. I think splice has more transition options as well. Absolutely hands down one of the most rewarding features is that it lets you save 1080p videos without any annoying watermarks or self promotion (you can turn off their logo at the end of the video or keep it). The only thing I would say is MORE MORE MORE. More transitions, more music, more sound effects would be nice, but I haven't run into a situation where I was absolutely in need of something else. Everything they have suffices just as well, but that is the only thing I would suggest :) Happy splicing!
Great features especially to animate photos except for music
by 07Raven on 2020/04/17 23:06
I especially liked using the Ken Burns effect on still photos which worked much, much better - is far more versatile - and easier than its counterpart in iMovie. It’s relatively also easy to splice film clips together, too. Biggest complaint with upgrades made since summer 2019 is the loss of some of the holiday music (I had a hard time doing holiday video last Christmas) and other suitable music to use, and the loss of the feature which let you splice the free music together easily with fade-out options available at beginning and end. Also, most music supplied is too short (less than a minute) - my videos typically are 1-1/2 to 2-3/4 minutes in length. I now rarely use Splice’s music and have to import video clips I do here into iMovie or some other program to finish. Other complaint is not having special features with how text or titles displays such as the ability to have letters dropping down, or fading in and out, etc., like text features available on iMovie. However, I do like the colored text/type choices which can make text much easier to read on bright backgrounds. I also like the ease in selecting aspect ratio although it is limited to only 3 choices. Overall this is a nice, fairly easy to use editing package. I use it the most for animating static photos so they zoom in or out, move from side to side or even - on rare occasion - rotate, which is especially cool if done right.
Nearly perfect video editor!
by scotty321 on 2019/06/29 08:24
This is a pretty amazing professional video editing app that has many of the features that you would expect from a professional video editing app! Even better, the app is so intuitive and so easy to use that you will feel like you are an expert of this app within just a few minutes of using it! It’s truly amazing! There is simply no comparison between this app and Apple’s iMovie. However, it could use a few small improvements, including more responsive technical support. We sent a few emails to technical support 4 or 5 days ago, and still haven’t heard back from them yet. Furthermore, the program makes some things more difficult than they need to be — for example, when you insert text onto a video clip, it ALWAYS makes the length of the text the ENTIRE LENGTH OF YOUR VIDEO CLIP with no quick way to change it. Other video editing apps insert text at just 5 seconds, and then you can quickly change it from there. There is also no way to pull the audio from a video clip and just use that audio as a narration track for other video clips. We also have continual difficulty trying to trim the end of a video clip by dragging the end of the video — this app often things that we are trying to MOVE the video clip. (We end up splitting and deleting to prevent this from happening.) Hopefully the team behind this app is listening and will continue to improve this app! It’s already an excellent app! :)
Absolutely great aside for a couple of minor inconveniences!
by DynamiteAustenite on 2019/06/20 00:00
I am absolutely LOVING all of the new features, especially the fact that I can now use the text to make subtitles!! The design is sleek and modern, the view screen is bigger, there are more sound effects, I can crop it down to square size for Instagram, etc. I’m loving it! My only issues thus far have been with editing the music. I’m working on my big ‘ol iPad, yet I nonetheless have a reeeeeeeally hard time finding the hit box for the slide bar that’s supposed to help me “crop” the music. I end up just awkwardly moving it to the side instead of shortening or lengthening the clip, and it gets very frustrating. I had to get out my Apple Pencil in order to get the job done. The other thing I’m struggling with is that, with my projects, I usually work with small music segments. In the most recent one, I’m using only five seconds of the provided music. To do that, I unfortunately have to go aaaaaaaaall the way to the end of the video and drag it down to size little by little. Then again, I’m not sure if that’s because this app was made for bigger videos. Thus far, those are the only things I would change! This app is the greatest video editing app I’ve found up to date. I’ve been using it for about two years now. Thank you so much for providing this app!

I just got this app a couple of hours ago and I rlly want to become a YouTuber and I was looking for apps to edit my videos but iMovie I need to pay for a lot of things and it was just too much. So I was looking for apps and found this......OMG it is the best and I just tried it right now, the music choice is great the transitions are great and the way u can put a filter on ur pictures and right whatever u wanna right and u have a choice of what font u want. I personally might use this a lot it’s a really easy quick way to edit a couple of pictures and turn it into a nice video and I made my first video like 6 min ago and it turned out so good. Everything is so easy to understand and use and that makes this app AMAZING. Anyone who likes to edit!!!, I suggest u get this app it is also free so u don’t have to pay to get this app and I love it already❤️keep it up guys! The only thing I would suggest is if u could put in music with the actually people singing and music that is in trend! But other than that this is a great app and I’m loving it a lot!!! Thank you guys for making this app simple, fun, cool, and quick, with many options (for free) and easy to make a really good video!!
The tiniest bug literally makes the app unusable.
by MyNameIsMyNameBro on 2020/02/19 13:28
Compared to all the other editing apps on the market for IPhones, this one was seemingly the best editing app BY FAR in terms of subscription pricing and efficiency. The app never crashed, the layout is very simple to understand, and it’s easy to get the hang of...but there’s a bug that literally made me go back to my original review and lower the amount of stars I gave it from 5 to 2. I’ve only been using this app for a couple of hours and I began to edit pretty large media files on it. Everything was going perfectly well and I was happy, but I soon realized that what I thought was my mistake was a bigger problem than it appeared to be. Whenever I add an audio clip over a video clip, the audio clip just remains at 100% volume no matter what I do and it’s so frustrating because there’s no reason why it should be doing that. I’ve checked that I lowered the volume, I’ve deleted the audio clip and replaced it, and still the audio was at 100% blasting volume, completely ruining hours of hard work. I can’t add in background music because of it. It’s so annoying because I spent so much time perfecting every little detail of the video but when I went to add in music or sound, there was nothing I could do. It’s very disappointing because this app is great and I really like it, but I’m definitely going to cancel my subscription after I finish writing this review.
It Glitches Too Often
by jae editor on 2020/05/26 19:47
I use Splice on my phone and at first I loved it. Very straight forward not too complicated to use. However, what I’ve experienced is a lot of glitches. There have been a few times where I leave a project and when I come back everything has shifted. Which is frustrating when I already spent 1/2 hours the previous day editing. Another glitch I’ve experienced (including rn) I’ll edit the sound to lower the sound effects and when I come back it’s back at 100 and when I try to change it, it won’t change! Right now I’m trying to edit the sound and it won’t even extract. And I can’t go online because the projects are by device. It’s like you have to do everything in one sitting for it to go completely smoothly. I don’t always have time to spend my whole day editing a video. I experience the most issues when I leave a video and try to come back and edit later. This doesn’t always happen, but it happens frequently and it’s extremely frustrating bc I already spend sm time editing I have to go back and fix things or completely start over bc one element is ruined and won’t work. My videos are usually lengthy (15-30 mins). I’m definitely gonna have to start looking into using other apps bc this just slows me down. Great for beginners and a good price. Can’t see myself using it long-term with these phone glitches.
Please fix!

I love Splice and everything about it, but there’s a problem with it. Maybe this might be my iPad or something to do with settings but if there’s anything you can do please take action - I was going all well with my animations that took hours to make individually. All of a sudden it said that Splice needed access to my photos (which I gave access to AAAAGEES ago). It said that the footage in my videos needed to be restored because somehow it got deleted but I checked multiple times that the footage I had in the videos was the exact same, and it was in my camera roll for certain. I deleted splice and downloaded it again, hoping it would do something. Now, my animations are gone, I don’t have access to premium features and it is still asking for access to my photos. I went to settings, went to splice but there was no button for ‘allowing access to photos’. This happened to all of my apps. I’m really devastated that this happened to Ibis Paint X because 2 years worth of drawings are gone so I can’t see my progress. I completely understand if this is an issue that you have no control over and if it is just my iPad or setting malfunctioning, but if there’s anything you can do/ anything I could do to solve this, PLEASE let me know! Thank you. (But when this is fixed I will continue using your amazing app!)
It’s great, but I do miss the old version
by kokokokoalaman on 2019/06/24 04:48
As one of your previous users of the app, I quite liked the older version. It was simple and easy to use, especially for someone that doesn’t really like to put too much time and effort into figuring out how to simply adjust the crop of the video and all. In the old one, everything was easy to figure out, but all of these new features and this new format is a bit overwhelming. I mean, I swear I’m not as lazy as I sound, but the simplicity of the last version and its ability to still make high quality videos were probably the greatest things I loved about the app. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the new features and effects, but I also wish it was easier to maneuver around the app and whatnot. Maybe it’s just because I’m used to the old version, but maybe it isn’t ??? Also, I wish you guys would add a feature where you could detach audio from one video and put it under another. I can’t seem to figure out how to do that with this app, but I was able to do it with iMovie when iMovie was free a long time ago, so it would be cool if you add that feature. I soooo love your app though and will continue to use it because it’s still by far the best app I can find for video editing that’s free.
Thank you, Splice!
by So and So zzzzzc on 2019/08/08 01:57
I’ve had Splice for three years, and I can say with certainty that this is an amazing movie/video making app. It is so easy to choose the pictures and videos you want and arrange them. There are a good number of transitions as well, and if you choose to use Ken Burns on your pictures, you can select the start and finish positions. I also enjoy the ability to trim videos in the app instead of having to trim them in Photos. You can also apply filters to videos and pictures in the app, as well as add text. The sleek design and user-friendliness only add to the appeal. But of course, easily one of the best things about Splice is the audio options. To start, there is a HUGE selection of music and the option to fade in and out. You can play as many tracks at a time as you want and precisely edit how long you want the music to play. On top of this, you can also record audio for voiceovers and narration, which is great for making stop-motion movies. I have used Splice on multiple projects and it has yet to disappoint me. The best part is that it is FREE! I know that there is an extension, but even without it, this app is truly amazing. Thank you, Splice!
Sis has glowed up! Easy, free, and fun to use!
by officially_jazzi on 2019/06/15 02:42
This new and improved update/ version of splice is so much better! It’s way different from the last version but in a good way. I’m still trying to get used to it but so far is a BIG, FAT, thumbs 👍🏼 up 👆🏼. And I really like the layout out of it. The only thing is that the way you add text is kinda messed up. Whenever I try to add text or a title it allways adds a extra little clip to the front and I can’t find a way to remove it. But overall, this app is really good. I really recommend this app and personally I think it the best mobile editing app out there. Believe me, I’ve basically tried all the editing apps there is and all of them haven’t really “clicked” for me I guess. this one is really easy to use and always has been. Unlike the other editing apps, this app doesn’t need you to put any information of yours like your email and snap chat or stuff like that. Some of the apps I have tried before in the past have only let you use it unless you had like a snap chat or something and that’s really annoying!!! Like I have to get an app to use another app???? But anyways, I really like this app.
What’s not to love with Splice?
by newsknapp on 2020/06/10 15:51
Splice is so incredibly cool. As a long time TV news professional, working with top editors at network level, and in stations in major markets, I have an immense appreciation for editing, which creates the magic of video. I have and do use Final Cut Pro X, v.2. But when shooting video on my iPhone I prefer the simplicity and speed with which I can get video edited and online. Clean, quick, solid stuff. When I first wrote about Splice months ago, I wanted more features, but doubted single timeline editing could provide it. Now Splice has cleverly created other ways for me to use sound from one bit of video with the natural sound that is tied to the main video I’m editing. Until recently, I couldn’t separate video and sound, but in fact I now can by lifting sound and moving it around beneath another. This sounds more complex than it actually is. Overall, Splice is simply brilliant. And really, I learned quickly how to use it, intuitively. Just by trying it. Now there are tons of tutorials and it’s easier than ever. With continued development I think Splice could replace more complex editing systems. TV news is going to love it.
3 stars because it used to be so great / 5 because it’s perfect now
by EA1982 on 2020/04/10 00:10
Updating this review because all the former issues were fixed. Great app, love it! Former review: The old version of splice was perfect, this new one is expensive, glitchy and minimalist to a fault. Here’s the glitch I encountered: I tried creating a video on my husband’s phone and it never would export, I kept getting a notice saying “uh oh! Something went wrong! Try again?” And after 3-4 tries I gave up. so I had to transfer all the videos to my phone and remake it and finally it exported. The lack of buttons and options is actually very confusing. It looks sharp but isn’t super functional. As to the expense, $104 a year is kind of pricy and there aren’t lower levels for those of us who use the app less often than once a week. It was a great app before the update and I would have been willing to pay a lower usage tier to continue to access it. It’s probably still a great app if you make videos professionally several times a day, but if you’re just an average person making like 1-3 videos a month or less, this app is no longer for you (or me).
Best Editor on the App Store
by #mcswagedyswagswagswag on 2019/12/16 10:47
I love Splice. I’ve been using it for about a year, and I’m loving all the improvements they’ve been making. I remember the old version where I could see the sound waves for any audio I picked out (back when you could only use music available on the app or bought in iTunes... a worthy trade off imo). I don’t know when the update that requires payment for colored text backgrounds came out, but I do know I never had to pay for it previously. I didn’t have to until I upgraded my phone and had to download Splice again. For some reason, I think the devs graciously allowed me to use the paid upgrade for free because I’ve been using it for a long time... and I am very glad they did :) Thank You so much! Unfortunately, I haven’t connected any money to my account yet, so I don’t think I’ll be able to purchase the upgrade for a while. Hopefully it’ll be soon, but until then, thank you devs for continuing to make this app better and better. It never crashes like it used to, and I can do all kinds of neat stuff for free (more than any other app I’ve seen), and even more once I buy the upgrade!
Back to its former glory

This is a follow up on my last review: This app is now the best video editing app in the App Store with a well deserved 5 stars. Here’s why: I am so happy that the new version brought back the tools that had been removed and even added more features including: Transitions such as Fade to black, Blur, Crossfade, Zoom In, zoom out, etc. Default settings controls are back: Picture duration, transition duration, aspect ratio, background color and music can now be set all at once (as opposed to doing one by one). You can adjust the sound in the videos for instance: you could lower or mute the volume in a video if you don’t want it to interfere with the background music. Perhaps my favorite new tool that has been added is that you are now able to extract the audio of a video and move it around, this is very helpful when you want to add picture overlays over video without messing up the sound sequence. I love the simplicity of the apps interface and the layout of editing tools is very easy to use. I’d like to thank the developers for providing such a great useful app for free for creators like me.
Quite Useful
by A Truthul Reviewer on 2019/06/29 18:20
I was scrolling through the App Store looking for a video editor that allowed me to piece together pictures into my own video. When I stumbled across this, I was a bit scared to try it out. Never the less, I downloaded it and gave it a shot. This app had everything I was looking for. I could piece together pictures as I created subtitles and tweaked how long it would be. Not only can photos be put together, but videos as well. You can also add sound effects, background music, and almost whatever noise you need to add that little something to your video. I did come across an issue with the subtitles where they don’t change the length at the same time as the photo or video, so you will have to do that yourself, but that isn’t a huge issue. I do wish the transitions between videos and/or photos were quicker, but overall this is a great app to use. It’s compatible with other editing apps, so if you want different transitions, subtitles or sounds, just download what you have so far to your device and input it into a different app. All in all, if your looking for an app that’ll allow you to do all of the above, I would suggest none other than Splice.
Wow! New Design way More Efficient
by Fotosynthesis333 on 2019/11/12 06:09
The time it took me to create a video is now cut in half. I made a 3 minute video a few days ago using the older version and it took me 8 hours. Tonight I made another 3 minute video and it took me about 4 hours. I use a combination of videos and images. The efficiency of an app is always half my battle. The only issue I had using the new version, which was also an issue with the old version is freezing. In the 4 hours that I was on the app, it froze 3 times. Just a minor annoyance. I usually just close the app and reopen it. It’s pretty good at preserving my work. I’ve never lost edits or a project even when it freezes and I have to close out the app. I also like that I can do a lot of my editing and preview edits in the same window. Adding music and SPX and editing these layers is so much easier now with the slide bar feature. I will update this review later after I’ve used the new version a few more times. For now, this is my primary app because It preserves the full size of my images. Other apps I use are to restrictive with image sizes.
Great app

It’s a great app I’ve been looking for something I can make edits for Instagram on that’s free and this is the one it’s amazing I recommend this to anyone who needs something for pictures to video editing cuz it’s great you can use your own music and your own pics and it’s free what else could you want the transition selection is a little small but I don’t mind for how good it turned out I’m gonna recommend this to my sister who also makes edit but ever since I got an iPhone I can’t transfer vids from my laptop so all my edits can’t be posted but this allows me to make save and post easily, edit: I've been using is for over a year now and i must say its my holy grail for editing apps this is the only one i use, i would like if there was more transportations and if u could make the pics or video less the a second long becuz i am still an editer amd some music beats are less then a second long so that would be cool it would be so cool if it had effects like a glitch and like effects kinda like the app crazy video maker 2 those are awesome but i sadly can't use that app
Help Please! (Thanks for the response, the app works now)
by LolNiftyLal on 2020/02/10 20:46
The whole app is pretty cool, polished, and everything, but there’s one problem, a really bad problem, I just can’t find it in my gallery, I went to the Gallery app and its not there, I went to the Camera app and its not there. This began happening when I merged a few videos and tried to save them. I put it to 60 FPS, and on 1080p, I waited about 7 minutes for it to save, then it said something along these lines: “Successfully Exported”. I pressed done, then checked my gallery, and its not there. If you don't reply, and the app is still unusable, then I’m canceling my subscription and downloading another app just like this one. Please reply, please reply, please reply, please reply, please reply, please reply, please reply, (I’m not a bot, I’m just supposed to have uploaded a video but I’m late now). Anyway, please help me with this problem, update the app, or I'll cancel my subscription. Have a good rest of your day. Edit: don't worry, it’s all fixed now, it just needed a quick restart.
Has some issues
by Valicorn 🦄 on 2019/06/19 03:07
For some time I've been looking for a free app to make gacha videos and just regular videos. I was pretty excited when I saw this app that could work with my device. I decided to test it out by just trying to combine some short videos and adding some music and text to it. All went really smoothly and I really enjoyed it. The only thing that bothered me was that the video itself seemed to be really glitchy and kept stopping and going. I didn't think much of it and thought that I needed to adjust the speed of the video. I did just that but the glitchy quality didn't change. I deleted that project and decided to make a slideshow. At first everything was exported and everything was fine. Then I played it and it only showed the first clip and the rest of it was just a black screen. I tried again by deleting the project and exporting the files again. Then no matter how much I tried it kept telling me that something went wrong. Even though that's an issue that I had the first time I used Splice I was really impressed with how simple it was to use and the amazing choices of music it had. I hope you don't take this as "hate" but I still hope you look into this issue, thank you and have a great day!

I had Splice on my phone and remember being able to edit videos without needing a subscription. However, when I downloaded it again, it would let me edit any videos or even get to the editing screen without first bringing me to the subscription offer. If I clicked out of it, it would take me back to the video selection and I wouldn’t get anywhere. It wasn’t like I chose premium/subscription exclusive features or settings that could cause me to get the pop up. The app was physically unserviceable entirely. I don’t have a need for the benefits of the subscription because I don’t edit videos unless to remove certain parts of a clip or maybe screen recording. It’s fine to have pop ups. I don’t care about them. But if I’m literally unable to even access the main purpose of the app without a subscription, you’d be better off asking for money up-front or mentioning that the app is meant to solely be subscription based. The experience was very annoying to say the least and I hope it’s something that’s dealt with. The user interface is not hard to comprehend and is suitable for smaller purposes but the main reason I’m making this review, is because other parts of the app need adjustment and overview.
Update ruined the app
by maple79vt on 2020/05/14 14:45
Update: More stuff added to the app so it doesn’t work again! I use this app daily (unfortunately) with increased frustration. Don’t waste your money. I’ve used the app for several months now on a daily basis. I never had any issues until I logged in one day and every single video I had done was now saying the images were no longer available. Contacted the developer who immediately tried to place the blame on me saying I deleted the images off my phone. Not the case at all. Turns out I needed to do their update in order to use app. I did this and all video images returned. They shouldn’t be so quick to blame the customer for problems they create. Now, this upgrade destroyed the app. I’ve spent hours on a project only to have my work disappear. I’ve been trying to upload a video multiple times now but when I go to view it in my photos it is not there! I’d contact the developer but I know that they’ll only blame me again for an issue that they created. Again, they updated the app and messed it all up. Again they placed blame on me. I only continue to use the app daily because I paid for the year. Once that year is up I’m dumping it.
Disappointed
by Lenzdizzy on 2020/02/21 20:12
This app is awesome when it comes to editing, adding music, etc. really. It’s amazing. The reason I’ve given this app two stars is because, it was a waste of time. I’ve tried to save my video a million times. Only for it to say “oh no! Retry.” I assumed maybe I didn’t have enough room. I deleted the pictures off my phone. & my whole video was gone when I came back to the app. I blamed myself for just not thinking. Today, I retried. I remade the whole video. Tried to save. Still “oh no! Retry!” This time I deleted a couple apps. It was gonna let me save. Sooooooooo, I hit SAVE VIDEO. it “saved” except I can’t find it on my phone anywhere. I go back, it says I need to subscribe. I’m thinking “screw it. This is important, so I’ll do it.” This time I hit SHARE VIDEO. It gave me another option through that to save to my phone. I tried again. NOPE. “OH NO! Retry!” I shortened the video, deleted numerous things. Still NO luck. I thought maybe the video saved to the app. So, as a last resort, I deleted the pictures I used from my phone. AND NOW THE WHOLE VIDEO (that was “saved”) IS COMPLETELY GONE. Absolutely a WASTE of time. I loved everything about this app & loved loved loved the video I made so much. Too bad I can share my video with who it was intended for.
Wish I hadn’t updated
by Michi IzkurEreshkigal on 2019/10/26 04:55
Previous review: (5 Stars) Absolutely amazing, from the moment I opened the app I was given text boxes that explained what was what. There is also a huge “how to” FAQ section which was helpful. The microphone records really clearly. The only thing I wish they had was a rotate feature but it said they are working on it. I tried two video editing apps before this and got so *incredibly frustrated* because they weren’t intuitive, and barely had directions. This one definitely is easy to use for a newbie with no experience like me. Update: I haven’t had to use this app for awhile but I just did tonight for the first time since the update. The update took away so many features and became unintuitive and has no detailed “how to” section that I can find. The app use to be so incredibly versatile helping me make decent videos with no experience. Now? My videos aren’t anything like before. The only new thing I like is the way the crop feature works. I’d outline things but a few reviews already have. Heck I couldn’t even drag text correctly without accidentally hitting the exit project button. Feels like every other video editor in the app store now. I’ll probably have to find another one.
Don’t like the new format—but my problem is solved
by there.is.none.available! on 2019/08/26 00:21
Okay, I upped rating to four stars because I managed to figure out the new way to cut part of the video, but it always feels like I accessed the hidden edit bottom section by accident, there is no icon to make it appear, I just kind of hold my stylus down on it. NOTE—Developer was nice enough to send me an email and said that all you have to do is tap on the timeline, which explains why it eventually comes up when I tap on different areas. I still think this new version is a little too streamlined but I do appreciate the response. Original review: I absolutely loved Splice. It was intuitive, and I appreciated that you could use it for free to do basic video editing. I usually only use it to cut out part of a video, or to connect videos together. With this new version I could barely figure out how to cut out half of my video. There is no longer an edit window, or a cut choice. I managed to get it done by splitting the video, then dragged the part right after the split down to a trash icon and it worked. Ridiculous way to have to do it though.
went from #1 editing app to imovie knockoff
by Jasppa on 2019/07/28 02:14
when i went to bed last night Splice was the #1 supreme absolute best editing app for iphone period. when i woke up this morning my 47 projects had been deleted and the entire layout and look of the app had been canned and replaced with a garbage knockoff of the already garbage imovie app. i require an app that can do complex edits which requires a whole litany of things but most importantly the ability to see in the tenths of a second so i can see exactly where i’m making cuts to your footage. splice removed this over night and now only lets you see whole seconds at a time. im constantly needing to match up two 60 frame per second clips and the exact frames in which the one ends and the other begins is crucial. so i now have to just trial and error for up to several minutes just to match up two clips that would’ve taken me maybe 15 seconds in the past. when i’m doing long edits with up 80 cuts and match ups splice was the only app that could provide me with the necessary tools. now it’s just a worse version of imovie. please allow us to purchase the old version of splice. i’m not joking at all when i say that i will pay up to $30 for the old version to be up on the app store again
Good but has its downs
by Gabrizs on 2020/01/20 22:29
This app has many great features such as text and zoom in animation. One feature I find it is missing is adding picture over video (a feature I need quite often). The layout of the app is quite simple and easy to navigate which makes it easier to use. Some other negatives would be of course the price of $2.99 a week. For me personally I’m okay with it right now because I don’t make videos frequent enough where the price becomes a problem, but eventually it will be for me. Another problem I face with this app is when I am exporting my video and it says it has “successfully exported” to my camera roll, but it does not. I would have to repeat the very long process about 3 times until it actually does. It becomes a problem especially with long videos taking more time to “process.” With all that being said it’s an okay app with a lot of good features and it’s pretty easy to use, besides the exporting problems. For the price point I would most likely not recommend it since I do have to use multiple apps to finished a video since this app is missing some features and problems with exporting doesn’t match its high price point.
I would like to amend my previous review
by TheCamRes on 2020/01/04 05:09
I’ll start by apologizing for how abrasive my previous review seemed. I’m a very critical person, not intending to being overtly rude. Upon a version update, a couple of issues I was having have been resolved. Including music tracks being restored. That being said, I still stand by my review of the price issue. Personally I don’t mind paying for a software if that software is worth the money to pay for it. Further, I have a request/suggestion. If you are going to charge a subscription, would it not make more sense to charge by the month versus by the week? It’s bad enough that EVERYTHING in people’s lives is turning into a subscription, I can imagine that nobody wants to see a recurring bill on their bank statements every 7 days, 52 times every year. Or at least give people the option to choose weekly (If the plan on using “premium” features once or twice then deleting), monthly and yearly for more consistent use. Just saying. I know this is a business. Everyone wants to make money. But you can do better than this and you know it.
Uh what?!!

Me and my friend have been using this app for OVER TWO YEARS and then it deleted all of our projects and started over. We will never be able to see those again and this makes me super mad! Please give me a link to the old splice so I can retrieve and download my videos, which were more than 30+ of them and I worked for countless hours on them. I also worked FIVE WEEKS on a project that was supposed to be a present for my little sisters birthday, and it just deleted all my projects the day before! So freakin annoyed 😒. I hate how this turned out. Me and my friends and family have been using Splice forever. The actual update in general is fine, but I hate how you guys deleted all my videos! Couldn’t you have saved the previous videos but updated the rest of them!? I am beyond outraged and I really want to have my videos turned back here. Please hear me out by saying this app is amazing and I love what you guys have done with it! But deleting all the videos I’ve had for two years is making me want to complain more and more. Seriously. Hopefully, you see this or else I just spent 5 minutes of my time writing something that is going to waste, just like my videos .
Amazing for compiling photos
by keyboard spam on 2019/09/04 03:11
God, where to start! I’ve had this app for about a year now and it works amazingly well for being free. I used to use IMovie, but this one had the option to A) mass disable ken burns, and B) set a standardized time for the photos. In the more recent update, that went away, though and now I have to go through and set the times for all my photos by hand. I still love this App though. I like that you can disable the splice logo at the end, most companies would have made you pay to be able to do that. The creators are always happy to help and the help feature does an amazing job of showing how things work. Summary: amazing app, great creators, only complaint is you can’t set a standard time. Edit: recent update really messed everything up. I understand that you need to make a product by making this app, but a lot of the features that I liked were taken out... it's a lot harder to set up photo compilations, and at this point, IMovie is less buggy...
I HAVE HAD THIS APP FOR AGES, BUT THEY’VE MESSED IT UP
by BeautifulForgotten_Mess on 2019/06/23 00:21
Hello fellow splicers! I have had splice for a good year now, and have absolutely loved it. It has been everything I could have imagined. Usually you would find a free video editing app on your google play or App Store, and they would all have a secret catch to them..right? Whether hey made you play monthly, and get “premium” to use advanced things, splice was NOT one of those. It super quick and easy to use. I could crop and video, or trim and cut it. I could apply sound to it, or record my own. I could change the speed of my video, or the resolution. INCLUDING the ken burns and zoom ins. I could put filters on them and EVERYTHING. But ever since this new update came out, this splice, has NOT ever been this different. Everything about it is so messed up, and not what I’m used to doing. It all jumbled up. I even looked at instructions, and STILL couldn’t figure how to use the new update. The only thing they added were add ons, ones that you would fine in your amazing iMovie app. But that STILL didn’t help!! Get this app if you wish, but I recommend you stand cautious to the new update. It’s pretty whacky, and I’m hoping they change it back. Happy splicing:D
Fun app
by BeccaS601 on 2017/11/28 16:27
Great for what I use it for. (Silly and funny vine type videos) It has certain other features I do not use because to be 100% honest I don't exactly know HOW to properly use them. However, for what I use it for this app works great and I very much enjoy using it. After a long period of working with this app I'm updating my previous review.. I've taken off a star because this app crashes numerous times on me during editing. It kicks me out, and I have to reopen the app and go all the way back to find the exact spot I was editing. It doesn't just do it every now and then when I'm using it. It crashes EVERY TIME I'm working on ANY project, and it doesn't just crash once. The longer I'm working on a project the more it crashes. I am leaving three stars because I still feel this is the best and easiest app I've ever used for editing videos and making projects of all kinds. I would give a star back if only all of the annoying bug issues were fixed and the app was updated so it would stop crashing and kicking me out every other five minutes while I'm working on my projects! Please fix this issue!!
I love this app buuut...
by Mercy E. on 2019/10/08 23:09
Splice is the only video editing app I use on my phone and I plan to keep it that way. I downloaded 3 editing apps and 2 of them kept asking me to pay money before I even got to *look* at the screen, except 1 of them. That app was Splice and I don’t regret ever downloading it. With it I created a video that I never thought I was capable of, and it was all thanks to the app’s easy controls. There’s just one problem I’m experiencing with the app, and that’s actually exporting the videos. I made a video that’s 12:30 minutes and whenever I try to export/download it, the app says “Sorry, there was an error” and I have the option to retry or cancel. I made and 5 second long video to see if I would have the same problem but it downloaded pretty quickly, so if your thinking about using this app, I recommend not making too long a video, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to download it. I’m really bummed out about not being able to export the video I spent hours on but other than that this app is all I could ever want and more! 😊
An answered prayer to a tech challenged individual
by KimFam on 2019/07/25 17:29
Lots of features that are easy to use! Editing is pretty quick, and simple; unlike some software that is cumbersome. I did watch a ‘How to’ video from Brant_Moore to help me figure out some features. His video was greatly helpful. (This is a review of the updated version.) I knew nothing of video editing and was able to add text, cut, splice. The feature I am finding challenging is splicing. When I sliced an additional video, I couldn’t splice at the very beginning, I had to add, splice and move. Also, the my text became tethered to the new video and then all my text blurbs were off. When adding the video, the text did not stay with the timing of the original video. Instead it is on its own timeline. So, when the video was spliced in the beginning, the timeline for the text didn’t accommodate that change. Right now, I saved my original video edits as a separate file and then I’m going to create an entirely new project and splice the original edited footage with the footage I wanted to add. Maybe I’m doing this incorrectly?
Minor things
by Cheesy_Ninja1 on 2020/06/23 17:33
I love this app and i have had it for years, and before the huge update awhile back it still was great, but there are some things that were gone after the update that i wish would come back. 1: for the music i wish you can go in the song waves and chose to where you would want to cut it down. 2: when you put in text it goes from the beginning of the clip to the end and it get kind of frustrating when you have a 8+ minute long clip, i think if you put in a text bubble it should be maybe 5 seconds long and then if the user chooses to they can make it longer or shorter. Finally 3: when you delete the clips from your photos on your phone it doesn’t save to the app anymore, i think this is very important because if you have the same clips on the app and on your phone then it takes up more storage. Like i said i love this app and i think you guys are doing amazing but these are some minor things that i would like to see reinstalled into the app. Have a good one and thanks for listening!
Best Mobile App for Video Editing!!!!
by GuardianSpirits13 on 2019/02/28 21:02
This app is incredible. I have used it for so many things, and it allows for so much freedom-all for free! There are no in-app purchases (that I know of) that prevent you from full access, and no permanent watermark. You can add layers of audio, transitions, cut and trim video, and add text! A few limitations I've noticed is that you cannot edit the duration of text (it will stay for the remainder of the photo/video clip, and they have a free music library but anything else has to be uploaded from iTunes (so no file input or drive download- it has to be in iTunes on the device you're using), and you can only speed up a video to 2x (I use this a lot for speedpaints and Instagram videos), although you can save it and import it again to speed it up more, but you might see a bit of decrease in video quality. Other than that, this app is TOTALLY worth it, and if for some reason you don't like it there's nothing lost because it's free! 11/10 would reccomend.
Made my little sisters day
by HaydenDixon on 2018/09/15 14:50
This was my second year in college and I was not going to be able to travel home to be there for my younger sisters 6th birthday. She said every year she was gonna tell one college student to invite as many of their college friends as she wanted, and this year it was “my turn”. I was so eager to come home and bring some friends along, but unfortunately I was unable to make the trip... however, with this app, I was able to make a very special video showcasing all the amazing people who I would have brought home screaming “HAPPY BIRTHDAY ... !!!” It was great! Not only was this my first time ever making a video and cutting it and putting it together, but honestly my first time even thinking that there were apps for stuff like this! This app is SO easy to use and follow instructions to make pretty “professional” looking videos! Thank you developers, not only have you made this great app, but it’s also entirely free. You have made both my day, and my little sisters!
THANK YOU!!!
by DwarvenCharzard on 2018/05/15 05:07
So I’ve been wasting my time for about two hours trying to find a free app that I could use to add together all of my videos in this series into one. I tried out a bunch of apps, and most of them were “free” to download, but required you to pay to even use it. Others, I could use without premium, but I could only add two videos at a time, and each time I did it, video quality went down. Ads happened every few seconds! Plus, it took forever. Not only that, but the watermarks were incredibly ugly! Then I stumbled upon this app, and I am sooo relieved! I can add together as many videos as I want, completely for free! I ran into no annoying ads, and the video quality in the end is wonderful! Not to mention, there’s no annoying and tacky watermark ;3 this was quick, easy, and truly remarkable. Don’t waste your time looking through other apps, just get this one! It works perfectly for my needs <3 (And THANK YOU developers. You guys really made my night)
This makes everything so much easier!

If you want me to write a suggestion or point out some flaws, your out of luck! This app is absolutely perfect! It has tons of different effects to use, slow motion, intense editing of both video and audio, merging photos and different transitions and, well, you name it, it has it! It's also very easy to use, at most it would take a good 4 minutes to get the hang of, I don't write reviews often but this is worth sharing! And best of all, it makes uploading photos and videos as easy as a click of a single button! Thank you for making a great and well laid app such as this! Most of them are complicated, even if they do have a lot of features, but this one is so easy that you don't even need a tutorial for it, but it still gives you a quick, yet direct and easy to comprehend one! Please get this app! It has no ads! Works perfectly! And is the best video editor on the App Store! 4.92/5 stars!! Bravo!!
Better before! Please read 😳😳😳
by zannster on 2019/10/27 15:12
Splice was WAY better before the update. All the update did was make Splice a bad and annoying editing app. Please return back to the original Splice. Now, I know Splice was really popular, so you want to make more things to pay for in the update. But that’s just dumb and mean. It was perfectly fine before. You could maybe (MAYBE) add some more ads in the new update if you’re not already making enough money, but why make it so you have to PAY to SAVE A VIDEO!? Like, seriously. There’s no point in making a video if you can’t save it. You might as well just make the whole app cost money. Also, everything is more complicated and doesn’t work as well in the new update. I put a long song at the end of my video, and it made 6 minutes of complete blackness at the end of the video because the song wouldn’t fit in the whole video. I mean, what? Have you guys ever heard of... cropping parts of a song off to make it fit? And I could just do more things more simply in the older version. I loved Splice before the stupid update. Please, please, please cancel the update and bring the good Splice back.
Pretty Neath TBH
by Tbuck58 on 2018/03/09 09:13
I was expecting a LOT less from a free app, even with the fantastic ratings it had. However, this app really came through. It's pretty simple to stick a bunch of shots together into a mini movie with this (that's what I used it for) and you can even put subtitles. There are, of course a few flaws. I would really like to have been able to put more than one text box on at a time, and despite looking through all the FAQs, exploring the Help section, and just trying things out, I couldn't figure it out. Also, like I've seen in some of the review around here, it does crash a lot. One more thing: they have a bunch of steps in the Help section to do specific things that they should already have as features like I've seen with apps like this before; it would just make everything a lot less frustrating. Anyway, I'm still giving 5 stars because this is a fantastic app, especially at the low, low price of absolutely free.
Splice ‘n bliss
by Serpent BOA on 2020/06/22 12:50
My mother board on the desktop crashed and burned. With all of my editing software unavailable I began some work from my iPad. Downloaded some work apps including one other movie maker/video editor. It was somewhat fun and entertaining, yet not having the features to procure results I’ve become accustomed to. After all how much could I expect from an app? Right? On my desk top I work with Majix Movie Maker Pro. Doing more research in the apps store I came across this app “Splice”. The app presentation showed many of the same features in the formats I use in my Majix software. Majix costs a few hundred dollars. Splice is FREE! For the features I have gotten to use this far it is exemplary. Need I say more. If it does ask for an upgrade, which it hasn’t, I would check it out too. In addition, not one advertisement except asking me to rate this app the write a review. This is the least I could do for an app that saved the day. Thanks Splice. Great App.
Absolutely Horrible.
by •CoffiiBean• on 2020/05/06 17:50
I was looking for editing apps so I could make my edits anywhere (I have After Affects on my computer but obviously I can’t take that with me like I can via my phone). I saw this one and I thought it looked very good. The app trailer and the reviews looked promising, so I decided to try it out. When I first opened the app, the setup was really cool. It was easy to start a new project, so I guess I’ll give Splice that. However, when I went to add the music, it said that I needed a subscription. Let me just say, SEVEN DOLLARS FOR A MEDIOCRE EDITING APP IS WAAAAY TOO MUCH. If the app was better, fine. But just to add music?! That’s ridiculous. I thought to myself “ok...maybe I can add music afterwards on iMovie or something. Lemme just get the transitions down, at least.” NOPE. You can’t even add transitions without paying. What’s the point of it being called an editing app if you can’t even EDIT?! Other things you can’t use include kens burn, filters, and many others I would assume but I wasn’t able to find out because after not even two hours I deleted it. Don’t waste your time getting this app. It’s a total waste of time and awfully thought out. These creators are greedy people who just want money.
Apple will copy this app
by Keith Hupp on 2019/06/13 05:18
Have you guys ever watched Silicon Valley you know that company who-lee reminds me of Apple. How they pay apple developers working at apple to copy really good apps in the App Store and just rebranded it as an apple app because they don’t have vision as a company. The real devs who have been working really hard on their apps they end up getting screwed through policy changes and things like that so you better download this app and use it while you can before Apple makes a clone out of it and forces us all to use it. This app is definitely worth five stars. At first I thought the reviews were fake because there are so many positive reviews but after trying to make a video about how this app doesn’t work I realized I just didn’t know what the hell I was doing and this app is actually really really good. I hope the devs don’t get feature creep and end up screwing it up. BTW tap once to see the timeline highlighted blue then drag to trim.
Amazing, but there’s 2 problems
by xXPaleMaidenxX on 2018/07/31 15:46
Splice is just an amazing app editor! I tried so long looking for a great app editor and I found it! I love it, it’s great and amazing. You don’t have to pay anything or sign up for anything, that what I love about it. What I also love about it is that it’s all free and it’s so easy to use! I rate this a 4 star rating because I have 2 problems that I found myself.. That’s fine, I’m happy with it though! I also have been dreaming to make a successful channel and hopeful it works! But there is a problem.. 2 to be exact.. -When I try to put music from the iTunes music, it says that you need the pro one.. But I installed the other one which is called, Quik and I tried to put music on it and says brows it tried touching the iTunes logo, but I couldn’t, it would just say brows.. -Another problem is that some parts won’t bear to show up, I couldn’t do anything. Those are the 2 problems that I found.. Hopefully you can fix and if you do I will probably give it a 5 star rating!
Went from Best to Meh
by 123097uni on 2019/11/22 21:28
I’ve been using this amazing app for years on all of my projects. Although the older version was bit rough at first it was well organized and well thought out. One update later and it initially looks like a basic app and a mess to use. It took time and trial and error to figure out most of the basic functions I previously utilized. With no frame of reference I had to read through this app’s complaint responses to relearn where the old functions were relocated and how apply them. Opening the app initially the format looks like they are trying to appeal to beginner users and they keep more of the advanced options hidden. I appreciate that it’s now simplified but it’s not intuitive and unless a user is willing to put in time tapping away it the screen it comes across as simple and basic. I’ve read Splice’s responses to the critiques and I know the company says they worked hard on changing the user interface and I can see some areas that are more mainstream with other apps now but I wouldn’t consider it an improvement.
PRO VIDEO EDITING APP?
by FreeMagneticEnergy on 2019/04/22 13:08
First and for most, it has an extensive audio library and lots of great templates. As a video editor with over 30 years of on hands experience, you simply can’t expect to find everything in a app that runs off your phone, verses editing software that’s for your desktop. With that said, I’ll stick to basic needs of this app First, it’s not intuitive, but has a well written manual burned into the software. Secondly: If you’re an experience iMove user like myself, you won’t find some of the handy functionality that the iMovie offers. Workflow is the first thing you’ll discover. The app is not geared to doing things quickly. There are constant extra steps to achieve the same results you get with Apple’s iMovie with few steps. Text editing is not friendly or very creative. The software only allows for 1080. You cannot export or render in 4K. So, if you’re an iPhone user like myself, this app does not allow us to edit and process videos in UHD. This app does not allow the user to post directly to Facebook other than your own personal account. That’s a huge problem need of fixing!! 😡 There is no way I could find to create long audio fade times. Over all, it’s a nice app for the phone as long as you don’t mind taking a huge step down in visual quality going from 4K to just 1080 which is almost 20 years old. Since the app forces users to grade the app almost right away, I’ve not had the time to figure out more issues.
You Ruined Splice!
by lashlapoo on 2019/06/05 17:20
I’ve been using Splice for years. Every aspect of app was awesome. I never wanted to use another editor. I didn’t even want ot use iMovie anymore until your latest update. After installing the update, I was introduced to a portrait app UI. I don’t know what’s wrong with you and other app developers that make apps similar to this one. Portrait is not the future and it never will be. Why would I or anyone want to edit a video on an iPad in portrait? No one wants that! Splice has now been added to my list of worst video editing experiences. I don’t even care about the other features. Splice is an editor meant for landscape use; especially on iPad. I don’t care about portrait mode on my iPhone because I bearly use the app. Now that iMovie has gotten some improvments, I’m switching back. You’ve given me a reason. Our eyes are horizontal, that’s why TV’s and monitors are the way they are today. The only thing I’ll miss about the app is the fast transitions which are still there, but what’s the use. As I stated earlier, portrait will never be the future. And for thoughs of you who want a better app, go try something like iMovie, Adobe Rush CC, and other Pro apps like Luma fusion.
Going in Wrong Direction!
by @tort on 2019/07/04 20:18
I really don’t like this layout. Not intuitive to me compared to how prior update was. That music note on the timeline when greeted out/black and white u can’t even tell that’s a music note for the audio/sound. I don’t like how I don’t get exports quality options anymore either. No more ambient music either is lame. And why would the designers think it was a good idea to change the word used for “ambient” if a category with this new update has similar type music. This is confusing to use compared to prior update for sure. See what happens after I use more, but pay attention to feedback from others. I am a power user and have talked about this app for years now and been using from day 1. I got more people using this app than u may ever realize. I thought iPhone workshops in Hawaii for years and was featured on shot on iPhone campaign with my iPhone images. Just saying I’m a power PRO user and love the app, but sometimes I feel people change their apps layout completely when in reality refining what was already there probably would have been a lot better. Aloha

Supper cool app to use
Easy to Use!
by icarlyohio on 2020/07/03 16:24
Great app with easy to use features! It’s easy for a new user to pick it up and edit video clips, add text, effects etc. My only qualm is that the free version only lets you add text, but you have to do the paid version to even change the color of it. Adding just a few more features to the free version would make this more fair, then this app is perfect!

I thought it was free.
by yessanity on 2020/07/02 14:59
i just got a new phone and downloaded Splice because it was my go-to "free" editing app. i loved using the music and effects, why do we have to pay! i'd rather have ads than pay monthly. a lot of us are broke because of this quarantine. yeah $3 a month isn't much for some people but some of the users are even kids who's parents don't wanna pay for this. could be better

by 12345coo11per112 on 2020/07/02 06:39
Great app until you place an adjournment file over a video. No matter how you adjust it, fade in, fade out, split, it forces the the volume of the audio to be 100% of the audio file. You cannot change it, you can adjust it to 0 and the audio stays the same level.

No WAY am I paying for the pro version after that.

by MaxAurelius on 2020/07/02 01:25
The app is great and everything is very reasonably priced. The only thing I think is unreasonable is that the transitions are premium membership. Transitions are very important and iMovie offers them for free, so until transitions are free I’m using other apps

by Creepexx3000 on 2020/07/01 08:10
The latest “update” ruined the entire app on phone.

Awesome

I had this app for years editing all my workout videos for Instagram. It was initially a free app and great in almost every way. I rarely had issues with it glitching. I went to update it and couldn’t save a video without paying $2.99/week. It would have been nice to have been grandfathered in for free but good things eventually come to an end. It’s not worth the subscription price unfortunately.

Great app
by lucypotter05 on 2019/05/15 21:36
It’s a great app I’ve been looking for something I can make edits for Instagram on that’s free and this is the one it’s amazing I recommend this to anyone who needs something for pictures to video editing cuz it’s great you can use your own music and your own pics and it’s free what else could you want the transition selection is a little small but I don’t mind for how good it turned out I’m gonna recommend this to my sister who also makes edit but ever since I got an iPhone I can’t transfer vids from my laptop so all my edits can’t be posted but this allows me to make save and post easily, edit: I've been using is for over a year now and i must say its my holy grail for editing apps this is the only one i use, i would like if there was more transportations and if u could make the pics or video less the a second long becuz i am still an editer amd some music beats are less then a second long so that would be cool it would be so cool if it had effects like a glitch and like effects kinda like the app crazy video maker 2 those are awesome but i sadly can't use that app

Uh what?!!
by Tatum Shearer on 2019/06/13 18:56
Me and my friend have been using this app for OVER TWO YEARS and then it deleted all of our projects and started over.

Aloha
