Dial is easy to see and it records max. Wish I knew how accurate it is.

This app saved me hundreds of dollars. I got a ticket for loud pipes on my motorcycle so I use this application and I have a dozen other common sound levels, among them a 50 mL Vespa scooter, a household blender and a vacuum to show that they’re standard for a noise level was excessive and I beat the ticket.
Very convenient!!

Excellent App
by Wayne O. 1234 on 2018/08/24 17:27
Works well. Nice design. Only suggestion is to put explanation of dbA dbB dbC and dbZ in the help. There are some excellent links online, but I was expecting at least a general summary in the help.
Okay
by Alby635 on 2018/06/22 06:45
Convenient. Not so sure about its accuracy. Decibels seem high. Don't have a sound meter to calibrate it. Good for relative measurements, though.
Fake app?
by mrjavahead on 2018/06/17 15:11
Displays the same decibel range of around 25-35 even in total silence. Seems worthless.

by GlichGSs07369 on 2018/04/26 21:43
The meter works, but it’s only useful in the moment. It doesn’t track or hold any info. For instance, if you want to know how many decibels you were exposed to during the last hour, this is useless. #1, it only stays on as long as your screen is set up to stay awake, so to test an hour-long music class, for example, you’d have to change your phone settings to never auto-lock. #2, it will show the max decibel in whatever time period you left the display open, but there’s no way to see how long the sound stayed at that decibel. So let’s say the dial says the max was 103 decibels. Well, the World Health Org says you won’t get hearing damage if that 103 decibels was for less than 45 seconds, but unless you were staring at the dial for the entire time and counting in your head, you would have no clue what that max # means. If you leave the screen for any reason, like to answer a call, it resets to zero. It doesn’t test what the actual metric of hearing damage is measured by: both decibels and length of exposure

Latest Update fails to request mic access
by avi155 on 2017/12/07 17:25
The update that just occurred does not request mic access. Thus the app can’t take sound readings, nor is there a way under “privacy->microphone” to turn it on... I love this when it works...
Well made quality app

Handy app to have. It's surprising how much ambient noise we have trained ourselves to ignore every day. No wonder everyone over 60 has a hearing aid.

by Douggieboy2001 on 2017/06/04 11:43
Works well. Can you get measurements up to 140 dB? This one seems to max out around 105. Try breeding parrots; loudest noise you'll ever hear and live to talk about it.

Good screening tool to see if advanced testing is needed.
Readings are way too low
by Moneeman on 2017/03/12 19:57
I downloaded dbmeter pro along with one other decibel reader program. I also have a handheld decibel reader that I have used for some time. The dbmeter pro program consistently recoded readings 15 a 20 decibels less than the other two. Common logic tells me that when I am in a room where the music is very loud, the other program as well as my hand-held recording 90 dbs are much more accurate than the average 74 reading on dbmeter pro.
Good app
by xandoor on 2017/03/11 03:20
This is one of the better DB apps out there.
Didn't work for me
by Climerda on 2017/02/25 03:30

by DCJon on 2017/01/22 18:59
Yes, they really are as awful as they seem, and with this app you have the data to prove it. Also, if you have inconsiderate neighbors you can document that. A fun little app that delivers on its premise.
Do not update or Purchase
by 'Austin' on 2017/01/15 17:52
Was a 5 star audio testing utility prior to its update which has severely crippled the functionality and usability experience making a simple task like a Tone Sweep cumbersome and annoying. Check out Signal Generator by Media Punk Studios for a fantastic audio testing utility, which closely resembles this applications interface before it was updated and destroyed.
Haven't tried it

This app is a total scam. Do not download it. All its "measurements" are totally false and made up!
Waste of money
by tknice on 2016/10/17 16:02
Tried to calibrate it to my trusty radio shack SPL meter and it wouldn't read a 65 db constant tone, even with the calibration slider turned all the way up. I also don't like that you can't switch the max, avg, and peak readings to the larger number in the center. Why did I waste my money on this??

I don't have a professional use for this app but it is interesting to play with and see how much noise is in our environment. I probably would not be half deaf today if I had paid more attention to noise. This app quantifies the noise.

by DarkestNightmare666 on 2016/03/18 00:38
It works and it's a very interesting out however I do want everybody to not measure extremely loud sounds because it will break your microphone and damage it over time.
not accurate
by Ittib on 2016/03/10 20:11
I could not get my whistle buckle to register over 84 and I know it is louder than that. I got another app that was free and it is showing that the whistle is at 95 which I believe is more accurate than this one I paid for.
Accuracy?
by aleph5 on 2016/03/06 16:39
Would love it, but the measurement values regardless of settings don't seem to correlate to what I expect (compared to trusty RS SPL meter). If there's a discussion on this, I'd be interested.
Simple but does what it claims

Questionable Accuracy
by Acceptable name on 2016/02/29 05:31
Ice machine and elevator machine room are so loud in my hotel room that I can hear them even with noise canceling headphones on. This says that the sound is between a whisper and normal conversation. It sounds like someone is buffing a floor in the next room.
Total junk doesn't work at all
by Photog11111 on 2016/01/30 23:44
Opened it up and the dial moved, had some numbers so thought it was working, then tried adjusting sound level in the room (blasted car radio, turned it off, etc) and numbers didn't change at all. Tried to mess with the settings and nothing changed anything. Total junk, says it's updated to the iOS I'm using so if that's the case then it's a scam app. Don't buy.
Great app, does exactly what I want
by Blizzard1s2d on 2015/12/24 01:02

Useful but could benefit by a manual
by Bill657483 on 2015/11/11 01:57
When I first installed it, the display seemed twitchy as it tried to stay level. After a while I discovered an icon on the display that switched among 3 options, one of which stopped this, but I couldn't figure out what the other 2 options exactly do. I noticed the other icon on the face of the display which, I think, switches among dBA, dBB, dBC, and dBZ response curves. Again, some Help Text or other information would be nice.

Why didn't you just create a new app for the new phone and leave the old one alone that was working for which I paid for. This is the first app I've bought that was disabled because I didn't have the newest phone. Why don't you advertise other apps you've created so I can steer clear of them.

Common logic tells me that when I am in a room where the music is very loud, the other program as well as my hand-held recording 90 dbs are much more accurate than the average 74 reading on dbmeter pro.

Only okay
by GlichGSs07369 on 2018/04/26 21:43
The meter works, but it’s only useful in the moment.

Tried to mess with the settings and nothing changed anything. Total junk, says it's updated to the iOS I'm using so if that's the case then it's a scam app. Don't buy.
Great app, does exactly what I want
by Blizzard1s2d on 2015/12/24 01:02
Quite useful, especially since I'm a bit hard of hearing and tend to turn music up too loud. Now I can see if it's quiet or if it's just me.
As promised

Does a great job. Fantastic tool....
Not calibrated
by dbEditorial on 2015/12/05 23:58
I installed on both my iPad and iPhone. There is a huge discrepancy in the level displayed on the two devices. A "pro" application should be closer.
Handy and easy to use!
by mblanch330 on 2015/12/02 18:40
Love it.
Great App
by Karen.ess on 2015/11/26 23:41
Lend support to audio levels. Something as complicated as a house mix or as simple as demonstrating that - yes indeed the grandkids are talking way too loudly at the dinner table.
Needs work
by LNPK on 2015/11/19 16:16
The basics of this app are here but it needs finesse. Looking forward to the updates.
Dose not work as described ..........
by Fo,fo on 2015/10/27 19:54
I have the new I phone 6s plus. The app freezes and dose not work. I want a refund.

Useful tool in many ways!
Useful tool that I use frequently
by Bluenose Biker on 2015/10/06 16:24
Very useful for comparing noise levels even if the accuracy of the meter is unknown. The relative results are still useful when comparing for example, two different dishwashers.
New rev really bad
by Life for real on 2015/10/06 04:48
New rev is very poor so bad I can't use it. What happened? Options I used are gone. If it doesn't fix I'm deleting it
Handy App
by grnmtnflyr on 2015/10/04 22:14
Surprising how many uses you can find for this App. It can be calibrated if you need better accuracy and have a reference.
Support for iPhone 5 dropped
by SnowblindMT on 2015/10/04 13:10
I bought and like this app and have used it for a couple years, but was surprised to find my phone is no longer supported. Even though, in the update description, it mentions iPhone 5 screen size. Very disappointed.
It's great
by Spurtworks on 2015/10/04 03:53
Handy app and pretty accurate, you'll be amazed and alarmed at just how "loud" the world really is. Get it!!!!!
Easy to use!

Fix iPhone 5c bug.
by Net-Hazard on 2015/10/02 21:51
I tried to install the update today and it says that it's incompatible with this iPhone. Unless it's not a bug. In which case you'll need to give me my money back.
Another dissatisfied customer
by Tpea1 on 2015/10/02 21:10
Why didn't you just create a new app for the new phone and leave the old one alone that was working for which I paid for. This is the first app I've bought that was disabled because I didn't have the newest phone. Why don't you advertise other apps you've created so I can steer clear of them.
No longer works on iPhone 5
by Archnx on 2015/10/02 14:45
They killed support for iPhone 5. At least I read the other reviews before I uninstalled it.
Great except it does not work on older harware
by Msacademy on 2015/10/02 12:26
It works great. But the latest update is getting stuck in my updates saying it needs updated. But when I click Update it says it is not compatible with this iPad (first generation mini). Then why show up as an update for version 9???? Now I cannot get rid of the Update without getting rid of the app!!!!!!
Not Compatible?!?!
by MimDer on 2015/10/02 12:18
So you just throw us under the bus because we don't have the newest phone? Will give you a bit of time to see the error of your ways. In light (and sound) of this, I would not consider getting any other apps from you.
A must at work

by 2oct15 on 2015/10/02 09:31
this is bs...sez is not compatible on this ipad after it worked for months! fix it please.
A disgrace to the developer community!
by Dcfuturewatch23 on 2015/10/02 06:58
Does not support iPads and iPod touches that people purchased this on. Do they expect people to go out and buy a $700 iPhone 6 so their app will install? Same thing with their Tone Generator Pro. This update will not install. Now we all have a permanent scar on our devices showing that an update is available...that won't install. Unbelievable...
Great app
by Calmar75 on 2018/05/24 00:09
I am a music teacher and also play on a band. Needless to say my ears are very important to me. I use the app to help my students realize just how loud they are playing. I use the with the band to find dead spots in the rooms we play so we can have better speaker placement
Only okay
by GlichGSs07369 on 2018/04/26 21:43
The meter works, but it’s only useful in the moment.
Great app for audiophiles and others
by Kenaz Filan on 2016/12/25 18:24
If you're trying to get your speakers placed Just Right this app will help you spot dead zones and bright reflective spots. As an added bonus it is a great tool in teaching your child the difference between talking and yelling. Highly recommended.
Best Value
by L. A. Brown on 2019/09/05 13:59
This app saved me hundreds of dollars. I got a ticket for loud pipes on my motorcycle so I use this application and I have a dozen other common sound levels, among them a 50 mL Vespa scooter, a household blender and a vacuum to show that they’re standard for a noise level was excessive and I beat the ticket.
Decibel meter pro
by markWWs on 2018/05/05 22:13
I love using this app! It is accurate, dependable and very easy to use. I use it wherever I go in the classroom, concert hall or different various venues that have loud sound. It is a great reference to determine if you are in an environment that is safe for your ears. I love this app!
Great App, works perfectly and I keep finding new uses
by xMontaigne on 2017/10/15 18:17
Fun and useful! Just used the app to decide on a new car for my wife, who is sensitive to noise. Even though I don't use it professionally, I keep finding handy uses for it.
Nags Me To Rate As Soon as I Open It
by Seattle Rex on 2016/12/26 20:24
After paying & before I even measure a single sound, Dev wants me to do more for him. Screw what I want or need, my phone should be used for his benefit and I should write an ad without even seeing the app. Well, alright, this is my honest experience so far. I rated. I did what you asked, accurately and honestly. We good now? Can I use my phone for me now or do you want anything else? Pop up and let me know if I can do anything else for you.
Well made quality app
by Matches5959083 on 2017/12/07 06:49
Seriously one of the coolest apps I love to show people. It’s really helpful and really well built. Developers always keep it updated. And I dig the new features. Definitely a good app to get!
Fun for restaurants.
by DCJon on 2017/01/22 18:59
Yes, they really are as awful as they seem, and with this app you have the data to prove it. Also, if you have inconsiderate neighbors you can document that. A fun little app that delivers on its premise.
Can't access microphone
by ak01q on 2017/12/07 04:08
Latest version greets you with an error message that can't access the microphone even though access is granted.

by d.hammer on 2016/12/24 05:29
I checked this app against 3 db meters from local stereo shops and a radio sh*ck... It was very consistent and accurate within the levels the built in mic allowed. I love it, and use it often. Great jod, and thank you!
Still Works Well
by brahim-el on 2017/01/08 10:58
Good way to measure my hearing level against the reading detected from this app. I can tell just by listening just how loud or quiet my surroundings are.
Great app!
by Pmwslo on 2016/12/25 16:51
I used this app to determine workplace safety for noise issues from pumps and machinery. It was quite accurate when compare with established standards used by our compliance group.
Does what I need
by enb14 on 2018/01/17 15:05
I have tinnitus and am very sensitive to noise. This app lets me determine whether ambient sound is merely annoying or destructive to my hearing. Thanks to the developer for this app!

Excellent App
by Wayne O. 1234 on 2018/08/24 17:27
Works well. Nice design. Only suggestion is to put explanation of dbA dbB dbC and dbZ in the help. There are some excellent links online, but I was expecting at least a general summary in the help.
No complaints
by /- on 2016/12/19 18:03
When I don't have my actual meter handy, this is great for a ballpark calibration of your monitoring setup.
Measure how loud I can shout about this app!

I like this app, and use it in my work and recording. I like the more recent update as well.

This app has been very helpful for me in my work. It is surprisingly accurate.
Convenient
by Mslo Mom on 2017/06/05 12:58
Handy app to have. It's surprising how much ambient noise we have trained ourselves to ignore every day. No wonder everyone over 60 has a hearing aid.
Great app
by Tahoe Beckey on 2017/12/19 01:16
I work in potentially noisy environments and dB Meter Pro is a VERY easy and intuitive app to give management input on areas that need noise control attention

Great
by kh1 on 2016/12/15 04:04
For what it does. No spectrogram; nothing like that- this is a simple dB meter. And it works great for what it is. UI is fine and functional.
Easy to use

Dial is easy to see and it records max. Wish I knew how accurate it is.

Decibel
by Douggieboy2001 on 2017/06/04 11:43
Works well. Can you get measurements up to 140 dB? This one seems to max out around 105. Try breeding parrots; loudest noise you'll ever hear and live to talk about it.

Awesome app. Use it in my job often
Latest Update fails to request mic access
by avi155 on 2017/12/07 17:25
The update that just occurred does not request mic access. Thus the app can’t take sound readings, nor is there a way under “privacy->microphone” to turn it on... I love this when it works...
Keeps asking to allow microphone
by panteradrummer on 2017/12/07 23:40
App keeps asking to allow access to the microphone but there’s no option in setting to allow. Just Siri and mobile data.
Okay
by Alby635 on 2018/06/22 06:45
Convenient. Not so sure about its accuracy. Decibels seem high. Don't have a sound meter to calibrate it. Good for relative measurements, though.

Didn't work for me
by Climerda on 2017/02/25 03:30
I compare this app to a professional decibel reader and the readings were significantly less.
